[0:03] Speaker 1: So you've made it through three hours of the regular
[0:06] Speaker 1: show on terrestrial radio and you wanted a little bit more.
[0:09] Speaker 2: So that's why you found the gun Talk after show podcast.
[0:11] Speaker 1: Where we saved all the best things that we can't
[0:14] Speaker 1: say on regular radio. Now here's Tom, Michelle and Jim
[0:17] Speaker 1: for the gun Talk after Show.
[0:21] Speaker 3: It's after showtime where we have Jim McKenzie and Michelle
[0:25] Speaker 3: Cleveland joining me.
[0:26] Speaker 4: Hello, folks, true, hey, hey, hey, hey.
[0:30] Speaker 5: You're still there. Oh my god. We couldn't get.
[0:32] Speaker 2: Rid of them throw back hey.
[0:35] Speaker 5: And we even have one or two people on hole.
[0:38] Speaker 5: We don't know who shows up. You never know.
[0:40] Speaker 3: Sometimes people just call it. We have been known to
[0:44] Speaker 3: answer the phone during the after show screening people.
[0:48] Speaker 2: Yeah we are, and.
[0:49] Speaker 6: It turns out to be extended car warranty salesman though usually.
[0:55] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[0:56] Speaker 3: But those are fun conversations too, So that's true. I'm
[0:59] Speaker 3: just happy when I got a chance to talk to anybody.
[1:01] Speaker 5: Here. Go all right, let's just tell you what. Let's
[1:03] Speaker 5: try this. Let's go line three and see if Steve
[1:05] Speaker 5: is still with us.
[1:05] Speaker 7: There, Steve there, I'm still with you.
[1:08] Speaker 5: All right, you can get rid of you by now.
[1:14] Speaker 7: Were you hoping or.
[1:17] Speaker 5: Well? I bet you're not going to give away everything
[1:20] Speaker 5: you know.
[1:20] Speaker 7: Okay, okay, Well you've mentioned something during the show today
[1:26] Speaker 7: and I usually don't get to listen live just because
[1:29] Speaker 7: the family things going on. But today I was doing
[1:32] Speaker 7: some yard work and had my radio tuned in or
[1:36] Speaker 7: and you mentioned about guns having soul or guns that
[1:39] Speaker 7: talk to you, and that that really hit a nerve
[1:44] Speaker 7: because there's guns that, you know, from the first time
[1:48] Speaker 7: I held them, I knew I had to have them.
[1:51] Speaker 7: And I told Michelle, I have five Marlon Lever Actions.
[1:57] Speaker 5: That's fad, No, I'm jealous.
[2:02] Speaker 7: Well, yeah, they got a little expensive, but they used
[2:05] Speaker 7: to be pretty reasonable, but so much Well, the rifle
[2:13] Speaker 7: that really got me interested in that was my father's
[2:16] Speaker 7: hunting buddy had a Model seventy one Winchester and three
[2:20] Speaker 7: forty eight, And the first time I picked that thing
[2:24] Speaker 7: up and put it to my shoulder, I said, this
[2:27] Speaker 7: is what a rifle is supposed to feel like. It
[2:32] Speaker 7: just it's just got that, you know, it just got
[2:34] Speaker 7: that feel, and so I never you know, they got
[2:38] Speaker 7: to be really pricey, but I have I have a Marlin.
[2:43] Speaker 7: I think it's a Model eighteen ninety five forty five seventy.
[2:46] Speaker 7: That feels pretty close to that.
[2:48] Speaker 1: So is it that true Marlin or is it the
[2:51] Speaker 1: remake of Marlin with Ruger.
[2:53] Speaker 7: No no to Marlin Marlink. Yeah, but it does have
[2:57] Speaker 7: a safety, so you know, but that's okay. Yeah, I
[3:01] Speaker 7: can live with that.
[3:02] Speaker 4: Right.
[3:03] Speaker 5: Here's the thing.
[3:04] Speaker 3: If the safety, if you ever decide, God, I wish
[3:06] Speaker 3: you didn't have the safety, there is a way to
[3:09] Speaker 3: take care of that. Turnbull reproductions will take that off
[3:14] Speaker 3: and close it up and it will look like that
[3:16] Speaker 3: never was there.
[3:17] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[3:17] Speaker 7: I think actually brown El sells the part they used
[3:21] Speaker 7: to because I did look into it at one time.
[3:24] Speaker 7: But yeah, I have I have forty five seventy on
[3:27] Speaker 7: down the twenty two with those smilings.
[3:30] Speaker 2: Oh.
[3:30] Speaker 5: I think the twenty two Marlin is one of the
[3:32] Speaker 5: sweetest hand in little guns. Yep.
[3:35] Speaker 7: But the other guns that talk to me are the
[3:38] Speaker 7: Coult single action armies. I mean, that's that's the when
[3:42] Speaker 7: you put in your your put in your hand and
[3:43] Speaker 7: it just feels like an extension of your arm I mean,
[3:46] Speaker 7: I like my nineteen elevens, but I like my single
[3:51] Speaker 7: action revolvers the most.
[3:54] Speaker 2: Do you have any of those that your go to?
[3:56] Speaker 1: Like if you have anybody that you're taking out to
[3:59] Speaker 1: the range and they want to try something new, like
[4:01] Speaker 1: this is the one You've got to try this?
[4:04] Speaker 7: Well, we I was in Wyoming in school for a
[4:08] Speaker 7: couple of years, and we had a guy in our
[4:11] Speaker 7: group of friends who had never shot, and we took
[4:15] Speaker 7: him out. And at the time I had the only
[4:19] Speaker 7: thing I have was a Model twenty eight with the
[4:22] Speaker 7: Western highwy Patrolman, and he really liked that, and you know,
[4:26] Speaker 7: it's a great gun. But you know, I've since decided
[4:29] Speaker 7: that those end frames are just too big, big, heavy. Yeah,
[4:36] Speaker 7: you need a wheelbarrow or something to carry him around
[4:39] Speaker 7: at because they're too much.
[4:43] Speaker 1: All the prices of them now, however, to try to
[4:48] Speaker 1: replace it, oh my god, Oh no, yeah, I know that.
[4:51] Speaker 5: I know that.
[4:53] Speaker 7: And then the last gun is my is my first
[4:56] Speaker 7: nineteen eleven I bought I think it was nineteen seventy five,
[5:00] Speaker 7: would have made me twenty years old. And it was
[5:03] Speaker 7: in a gun shop that was not far from home,
[5:06] Speaker 7: and I would go there all the time and I pass,
[5:09] Speaker 7: you know, I'd always look at guns, and one day
[5:11] Speaker 7: they had this used one in a case there, and
[5:15] Speaker 7: I asked to see it and as soon as I
[5:18] Speaker 7: held it, I said, yeah, I want this.
[5:21] Speaker 4: You know, And that was it's like every gun I've
[5:23] Speaker 4: ever touched. Yeah.
[5:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a great ploy.
[5:29] Speaker 1: It's like test driving a vehicle, right, you know, let mean,
[5:32] Speaker 1: let me put it in your hand, like oh no, no, no, yep,
[5:34] Speaker 1: Well it's it's done.
[5:37] Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, you sold a few guns. Yeah right.
[5:45] Speaker 7: One other thing Tom, I'd like to tell you is
[5:47] Speaker 7: that I was going through my safe and you know,
[5:50] Speaker 7: you talk about guns. I've been in the safe for
[5:52] Speaker 7: a long time, and I had a rifle that I
[5:55] Speaker 7: bought probably thirty years ago. That's a model seven sixty
[5:59] Speaker 7: years mington, but it was in two two three, which
[6:02] Speaker 7: I know is rare. Yeah, and that's why I bought
[6:06] Speaker 7: it originally. And I wound up selling it to Duries
[6:10] Speaker 7: And it was experience. It was terrific, you know. I
[6:14] Speaker 7: took and I I only took a couple of pictures,
[6:17] Speaker 7: two or three pictures, sent those to them, and then
[6:21] Speaker 7: a couple of days later I got a call back
[6:23] Speaker 7: and we discussed price over the phone, and I you know,
[6:27] Speaker 7: we agreed on a price, and I don't know, a
[6:29] Speaker 7: few days later, I got a box and the mail
[6:31] Speaker 7: I guess the hardest part of the process was actually
[6:34] Speaker 7: just packing the thing up and uh, you know, brought
[6:37] Speaker 7: it to FedEx and that was it, and then a
[6:39] Speaker 7: week later I got my check.
[6:41] Speaker 3: I mean, it really is amazingly simple, and they just
[6:44] Speaker 3: they work hard at making it easy for you.
[6:47] Speaker 7: Yeah, it couldn't be any simpler. It used to be.
[6:51] Speaker 7: And it's hard. It's really hard here in New Jersey
[6:53] Speaker 7: because you used to be able to send out your
[6:55] Speaker 7: own guns, but they stop that here. You can't do that,
[6:58] Speaker 7: so you have to bring it to a deal. So
[7:02] Speaker 7: it's it's kind of a pain, but you know, we
[7:04] Speaker 7: do what we have to do.
[7:05] Speaker 6: Hey, Steve, are you you have five Marlins?
[7:08] Speaker 5: Right?
[7:09] Speaker 6: Are you by any chance looking to pick up a
[7:11] Speaker 6: couple extra beneficiaries?
[7:15] Speaker 4: Just just throwing it out there.
[7:17] Speaker 5: Just had a couple of names.
[7:20] Speaker 2: That's gonna say. You went the forty five seventy. Theyt
[7:22] Speaker 2: six You.
[7:23] Speaker 6: Want forty five seventy Actually, to be honest with you, that's.
[7:27] Speaker 7: A beautiful guy.
[7:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, I would go with the twenty two if it
[7:31] Speaker 3: were me.
[7:32] Speaker 5: Man, is that a model thirty eight nine?
[7:34] Speaker 7: Yes?
[7:35] Speaker 6: It is, yeah, thirty nine, yes, yes, yes, yeah, but
[7:40] Speaker 6: you own thirty five forty five seventies already.
[7:42] Speaker 3: So well I do, I do have a couple. Well
[7:47] Speaker 3: what I've had for like, I don't know, forty years.
[7:49] Speaker 3: I mean, it's one of the original original Marlins.
[7:53] Speaker 5: Is such a it's such a beater. Oh my god.
[7:57] Speaker 5: It's like, you know, but if I need to shoot
[7:59] Speaker 5: through something to get to something, that's the one you want.
[8:02] Speaker 7: Yeah, right, that's right.
[8:05] Speaker 1: But they used to sell all the time, like that
[8:08] Speaker 1: thirty at six, the three thirty nines, I mean.
[8:13] Speaker 2: Three yeah, sorry, three thirty six.
[8:15] Speaker 1: I was stumbling over the thirty nine and yeah, but
[8:19] Speaker 1: the three thirty six, I mean they.
[8:20] Speaker 2: Used to sell for a couple hundred dollars. Used, sure,
[8:23] Speaker 2: you can't touch them for that anymore.
[8:26] Speaker 5: No, I don't know.
[8:27] Speaker 7: They were even less than that, you know at one point.
[8:30] Speaker 7: I mean, and if you bought a Glenfield, which was
[8:34] Speaker 7: really the same thing it was, you know, those things
[8:37] Speaker 7: under a hundred bucks.
[8:38] Speaker 1: Yeah, you say, even even more of economically piece.
[8:43] Speaker 2: Yes, but they brought the Glenfields back. That was cool.
[8:48] Speaker 7: Yeah, that's true.
[8:49] Speaker 5: Yeah, amazing stuff.
[8:52] Speaker 3: Well, good, Steve, I agree with you. Just there's some
[8:55] Speaker 3: guns you pick off you go, man, that just speaks
[8:57] Speaker 3: to me, I got to have that. And then, don't
[9:00] Speaker 3: you know, it's funny about it.
[9:01] Speaker 5: If you haven't the.
[9:02] Speaker 3: Safe and then you pick it up later, it still
[9:04] Speaker 3: speaks to you because it whatever it was that did
[9:07] Speaker 3: it the first time, it'll do it every time you
[9:08] Speaker 3: pick it up.
[9:10] Speaker 5: Yes.
[9:10] Speaker 7: Well, there was one more rifle that I was considering
[9:13] Speaker 7: selling because I bought it. Oh, I don't know, twenty
[9:16] Speaker 7: years ago or so, and I really haven't used it much.
[9:18] Speaker 7: I shot it and it's a it's a Ruger number
[9:21] Speaker 7: one and two fifty seven robbers man?
[9:24] Speaker 2: Is it left handed?
[9:26] Speaker 7: I was thinking about selling it and then I picked
[9:30] Speaker 7: it up and I'm holding it and I'm pointing, and
[9:33] Speaker 7: I'm not selling it.
[9:34] Speaker 2: It's such a nice rifle.
[9:37] Speaker 7: Loading some ammunition for that.
[9:39] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[9:40] Speaker 5: Good.
[9:41] Speaker 3: That's the perfect combination, that rifle, that style in the bob.
[9:45] Speaker 5: What a great combination.
[9:47] Speaker 2: It's a beautiful, beautiful gun.
[9:48] Speaker 7: Yep.
[9:50] Speaker 5: Yeah, just go shoot it. It'll talk to you again.
[9:53] Speaker 5: It's going to be mad for a little while. If
[9:56] Speaker 5: you haven't taken out of safe, it's going to pat
[9:58] Speaker 5: for a little while.
[9:58] Speaker 7: You know that what's coming out, it's coming out. My
[10:01] Speaker 7: biggest choice now is bullets. I got seventy five grain. Here,
[10:04] Speaker 7: I got one hundred grains, and I got eighty seven grains,
[10:07] Speaker 7: So I got maybe I'll love a few of each
[10:09] Speaker 7: and try them all in. And luckily, luckily for me,
[10:14] Speaker 7: my son is into it, and so I know they'll
[10:18] Speaker 7: have a good home.
[10:19] Speaker 6: And now all we have to do is get you
[10:21] Speaker 6: out of New Jersey. Steve.
[10:22] Speaker 7: Yeah, I know, I'm working on I'm working on it.
[10:27] Speaker 5: That might be easier to do than to try to
[10:28] Speaker 5: fix New Jersey.
[10:30] Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure it will be.
[10:33] Speaker 5: No doubt. It's amazing.
[10:34] Speaker 3: It was bad fifty or sixty years ago and it's
[10:36] Speaker 3: still bad, maybe even worse now.
[10:38] Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I mean, you know, I can remember when
[10:41] Speaker 7: you could still buy guns from the NRA. You know
[10:44] Speaker 7: these advertisement of magazine they mailed to your house. You know,
[10:47] Speaker 7: that was before JFK got shot and you know after.
[10:52] Speaker 5: That nineteen sixty eight.
[10:55] Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly, exactly, and that was downhill from there.
[10:59] Speaker 5: So well, Steve, thank you for sharing this.
[11:03] Speaker 3: This is very cool stuff. I I appreciate it. Yeah,
[11:05] Speaker 3: I get it. Some of the guns just talk to you,
[11:07] Speaker 3: and you've got some really nice ones there.
[11:09] Speaker 5: Thank you, sir. I appreciate that.
[11:11] Speaker 3: Well that was fun, good, thank you what we were
[11:14] Speaker 3: talking about. And I've you know, since we have his
[11:17] Speaker 3: phone number, I've already texted him and you know, worked
[11:19] Speaker 3: a deal out on that.
[11:25] Speaker 5: We're not a number one.
[11:27] Speaker 3: They are straight on. They're completely ambidexterous. They don't matter.
[11:31] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, they're beautiful too.
[11:33] Speaker 5: Yeah. No, there's no right handed or left handed to
[11:35] Speaker 5: a number one.
[11:36] Speaker 4: Oh I didn't know that hard time.
[11:38] Speaker 3: Yeah no, no, no, it's a it's an under lever.
[11:40] Speaker 3: It's a single shot and the safety is up on
[11:43] Speaker 3: the tank, so it's not a left to right So
[11:45] Speaker 3: it's I mean, it is literally and truly ambidextrous rifle.
[11:50] Speaker 3: It's just not an issue either way.
[11:51] Speaker 4: Cool. See I don't learn something else today, there you go?
[11:55] Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well let's break and then we'll come
[11:58] Speaker 3: back and chatter a little bit more about guns that talked.
[12:07] Speaker 8: From the range to the field. CZ firearms are built
[12:10] Speaker 8: to perform when it counts. Known for accuracy, durability, and reliability,
[12:15] Speaker 8: c Z stands apart. C Z built for those who
[12:19] Speaker 8: demand more CZ firearms dot com.
[12:31] Speaker 5: So are the guns actually talking to you? Are you
[12:34] Speaker 5: just hearing things? Now?
[12:37] Speaker 4: I always hear things, voices in my head.
[12:39] Speaker 6: Just one happens to be a gun.
[12:42] Speaker 5: That's right. As you go by the safe, they're going
[12:49] Speaker 5: remember me, remember, remember me. We used to have fun together.
[12:55] Speaker 4: I'm gonna remember this if you ever really need me
[12:57] Speaker 4: in a jam. Speaking of jam, right.
[13:03] Speaker 3: Well, we had had fun out the range with the
[13:07] Speaker 3: fifteen year old.
[13:07] Speaker 5: That was a great time.
[13:08] Speaker 3: And I was really wishing I had a rifle that
[13:11] Speaker 3: fit in better, and I need to I just think
[13:13] Speaker 3: about it, you know, the one I don't have that
[13:15] Speaker 3: I really want to get, and I think it's the
[13:17] Speaker 3: perfect starting people out rifle.
[13:20] Speaker 5: Is that Smith and West and are twenty.
[13:23] Speaker 2: Two firem and yep, yeah, it's perfect.
[13:27] Speaker 3: Twenty two and it you know, the collapsible stock. It
[13:30] Speaker 3: can fit young people, smaller folks. Put a red dot
[13:34] Speaker 3: on it and just go to town.
[13:36] Speaker 2: Agreed.
[13:37] Speaker 6: Might be a little frustrating one, Just a little frustrating
[13:39] Speaker 6: when comes to teaching reloading though. Oh well, well I
[13:44] Speaker 6: got the centrifuge.
[13:45] Speaker 5: You had the conversation.
[13:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, well it was fun because as we're driving out
[13:50] Speaker 3: there and were I said something about you know, well,
[13:52] Speaker 3: you know different calibers, and all the says, well, are
[13:55] Speaker 3: all fifty calibers is that the fifty fifty bmg? So
[13:59] Speaker 3: we had the commonsation about calibers versus cartridges. You know,
[14:03] Speaker 3: the fifty bmg is a fifty caliber, but not all
[14:06] Speaker 3: fifty calibers are fifty bmg. So we got to have
[14:10] Speaker 3: that conversation. And then when we got out there, he's
[14:13] Speaker 3: looking at the twenty two rim fire case and at
[14:15] Speaker 3: the rim on it. So I went over and pulled
[14:18] Speaker 3: out a nine milimeter case and we did the whole
[14:20] Speaker 3: rim fire versus center fire conversation. Nice got to do that,
[14:23] Speaker 3: So it was It was really a fun deal and
[14:26] Speaker 3: he was soaking it all up. He didn't say a lot,
[14:29] Speaker 3: but I knew he was getting it because later on
[14:31] Speaker 3: we were talking about it and he had heard everything
[14:33] Speaker 3: I said.
[14:33] Speaker 6: Awesome. Yeah, and more importantly, is check clear spot, So
[14:36] Speaker 6: you're good?
[14:38] Speaker 2: Nice?
[14:42] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's my thing.
[14:43] Speaker 6: Yeah, speak speaking of money, money was fun. Speaking of
[14:46] Speaker 6: money and training that that is something priceless. You did
[14:49] Speaker 6: you can't put a price to I was obviously being silly,
[14:51] Speaker 6: but you can't put a price tag on memories like that.
[14:53] Speaker 6: Those are the things you have to suck up all
[14:55] Speaker 6: you can.
[14:56] Speaker 5: Well.
[14:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, and obviously sent pictures of him with his targets
[15:01] Speaker 3: and shooting and all that to the family, So that
[15:04] Speaker 3: was that's part of it.
[15:06] Speaker 5: Now you can document everything.
[15:07] Speaker 6: It's really great, and you know it's going to be
[15:09] Speaker 6: cool ten to fifteen years down the road. A couple
[15:11] Speaker 6: of years down the road over, he's going to be
[15:13] Speaker 6: introducing somebody to it, and there's the beauty.
[15:16] Speaker 5: That would be cool.
[15:17] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[15:18] Speaker 3: And we also had that experience with the guy in
[15:21] Speaker 3: the bay a couple of days over and with him
[15:24] Speaker 3: needing magazine and I happen to have the magazines that
[15:26] Speaker 3: we're talking and then this young guy got to see
[15:28] Speaker 3: this old pistol that had been used in the war
[15:32] Speaker 3: and it's a true army surplus nineteen eleven. So he
[15:35] Speaker 3: got that whole conversation about military guns and your history
[15:38] Speaker 3: and all that.
[15:39] Speaker 5: So it worked out really well.
[15:40] Speaker 6: Yeah, that's cool.
[15:42] Speaker 1: Well, and we had we had a caller earlier about
[15:47] Speaker 1: his nineteen three springfield and it brought to light the
[15:52] Speaker 1: fact that here in about twelve fourteen days ish start
[15:59] Speaker 1: some of the best classes that you can take out
[16:02] Speaker 1: at Camp Perry in pork Litte, Ohio. So they start
[16:07] Speaker 1: with small boar training and they help with pistol, and
[16:11] Speaker 1: they help with rifle And if you ever wanted to
[16:15] Speaker 1: try any of them out, I highly suggest going to
[16:17] Speaker 1: the CMP website and looking at their firing schools and
[16:22] Speaker 1: sign up for something. You know, if there's still spots there,
[16:26] Speaker 1: take them because it's some of the best information that
[16:29] Speaker 1: you can ever get. Absolutely, shooters are willing to help
[16:32] Speaker 1: other people become good shooters.
[16:35] Speaker 2: It's amazing.
[16:36] Speaker 3: Think of Camp Perry separate as competition. I ever think
[16:39] Speaker 3: of Camp Perry as a training place.
[16:40] Speaker 2: Yep.
[16:41] Speaker 1: They like the Army Marksmanship Unit, the Marines. They host
[16:46] Speaker 1: high power clinics. The Army Marksmanship Unit does small arms,
[16:50] Speaker 1: firing school, pistol and high power.
[16:52] Speaker 6: Is there even a fee for it or is it
[16:54] Speaker 6: just super stup low?
[16:55] Speaker 2: I think there's a fee Ford.
[16:58] Speaker 1: I can't remember if it's deletely free or you know,
[17:02] Speaker 1: if it's like seventy five dollars, but it's several days
[17:05] Speaker 1: of education on the line shooting.
[17:08] Speaker 6: You know, even if you do paid seventy five bucks,
[17:11] Speaker 6: I will cover your Amma.
[17:12] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, yeah, I mean you're going to burn
[17:14] Speaker 2: through more than that, right, And yeah.
[17:16] Speaker 5: These seventy five bucks is three hamburgers. These days. I mean,
[17:23] Speaker 5: go to lunch and get three burgers with everything you
[17:26] Speaker 5: get and see if it is I mean at a restaurant, right,
[17:29] Speaker 5: see if it doesn't get close to seventy.
[17:31] Speaker 6: Five time you get drinks and everything else, I'm going
[17:33] Speaker 6: to I'm going to look at it.
[17:34] Speaker 5: So it's.
[17:36] Speaker 4: What's the average cost.
[17:38] Speaker 5: And the other thing is, now, are there are the no,
[17:40] Speaker 5: she's looking up the classes.
[17:42] Speaker 4: Yeah, classes, right, I'm aware.
[17:47] Speaker 3: But they have also, don't they have specific courses. I
[17:51] Speaker 3: mean of course of the fire.
[17:53] Speaker 5: Yes, the matches, if you had like an O three Springfield, yes.
[17:56] Speaker 2: They do.
[17:56] Speaker 1: So they have Springfield, they have a vintage Grand Springfield
[18:05] Speaker 1: and modern military. But yeah, they have lots of lots
[18:09] Speaker 1: of little matches that go on in between the very
[18:12] Speaker 1: large national matches.
[18:14] Speaker 2: And you know they do.
[18:16] Speaker 1: Air rifle, they do pistol. Well it i mean Camp
[18:21] Speaker 1: Perry's is like a month long in all, yeah, because
[18:25] Speaker 1: they start out yeah yeah, yeah, so it's definitely something
[18:31] Speaker 1: you know to take part in. And of course they
[18:33] Speaker 1: have Telddega down there in Alabama. That's a really nice
[18:37] Speaker 1: course and yeah.
[18:39] Speaker 5: Take advantage of impressive.
[18:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, and they do they do these traveling so you
[18:45] Speaker 1: know if you can't get here. They you know, host
[18:48] Speaker 1: different classes across the country as CMP matches pop up
[18:53] Speaker 1: in your area, so follow them, you know, if you're
[18:55] Speaker 1: a Facebook person, follow them, but definitely look it up.
[18:59] Speaker 2: A lot of great information.
[19:00] Speaker 3: Share if you have an old rifle like that, if
[19:03] Speaker 3: you've got like an old Oathrey Springfield, poke around at
[19:07] Speaker 3: in your local area at ranges and gun clubs. There
[19:12] Speaker 3: is liable to be a group of almost certain guys
[19:17] Speaker 3: that have these rifles or this type of rifle that
[19:20] Speaker 3: go out and do regular shoots, and man, if you
[19:22] Speaker 3: could link up with them, there's probably a wealth of information.
[19:25] Speaker 5: To be had.
[19:26] Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say the history that you
[19:28] Speaker 1: learn across them, and they're willing to share that. You know,
[19:30] Speaker 1: these shooters know their history, they know their guns. You know,
[19:35] Speaker 1: these vintage sniper matches and in different types of stuff.
[19:39] Speaker 1: They're all very well rehearsed in what era their firearm
[19:43] Speaker 1: is from. So if you ever wanted to see it,
[19:45] Speaker 1: right across the course, it's just a good place to go.
[19:49] Speaker 6: It's similar to the reenactment folks. I mean, they know
[19:52] Speaker 6: that they know their stuff. They can give you a
[19:54] Speaker 6: history lesson.
[19:56] Speaker 2: So I'm looking up.
[20:00] Speaker 1: Cheese without so the Yeah, the schools go, I mean
[20:07] Speaker 1: twenty five dollars, twenty dollars for juniors on advanced pistol,
[20:11] Speaker 1: seventy dollars on rifles. Yeah, so it's not a whole
[20:15] Speaker 1: lot of money. It just depends on what you want
[20:17] Speaker 1: to do.
[20:17] Speaker 5: Very affordable.
[20:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, And like I said, it's it's days of work
[20:21] Speaker 1: with these guys. And of course you know they've they've
[20:24] Speaker 1: honed their skills very well and know how to teach
[20:28] Speaker 1: very well.
[20:29] Speaker 2: And yeah, it's a good place to start.
[20:32] Speaker 5: No doubt.
[20:34] Speaker 3: Sorry, and your live land up if you're not careful
[20:37] Speaker 3: your live land up bringing home an extra gun because
[20:40] Speaker 3: people there will say, you know, I've got this other
[20:42] Speaker 3: thing I've been thinking about selling. I got it out
[20:44] Speaker 3: there in the van.
[20:45] Speaker 5: Stuff like that.
[20:47] Speaker 1: Horrible right, Well, people have stuff for so you're right,
[20:51] Speaker 1: reloading equipment dies, whatever it is.
[20:53] Speaker 5: I mean, oh my gosh.
[20:54] Speaker 2: Yes, they have.
[20:55] Speaker 1: A swap meet out there, I mean they have Yeah,
[20:58] Speaker 1: they have a great commercial row you know, where like
[21:02] Speaker 1: Hornity comes in or different manufacturers come in and sell
[21:07] Speaker 1: their goods or support their shooters, and.
[21:09] Speaker 6: Lots of merchant gardens.
[21:11] Speaker 2: Yeah. So it's just a really cool place. There's a
[21:14] Speaker 2: lot of history there.
[21:16] Speaker 6: On Lake Erie for you folks who aren't aware of that.
[21:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
[21:20] Speaker 3: It's funny because you mentioned, you know, shooting competitions. While
[21:23] Speaker 3: we're on the air, I get a notice pops up
[21:26] Speaker 3: on my Facebook that our local range is going to
[21:29] Speaker 3: have a steel challenge on July the eleventh. I'm thinking, good,
[21:33] Speaker 3: I haven't had one yet this year. I need to
[21:35] Speaker 3: get over there and do that. It'll force me to.
[21:37] Speaker 5: Now.
[21:37] Speaker 3: The only problem is figured out which gun to shoot.
[21:40] Speaker 3: But you know, if you especially these small ones, you
[21:43] Speaker 3: can actually enter it twice. It's you two different guns.
[21:46] Speaker 2: Oh, so you have to see which one talks.
[21:48] Speaker 4: To you the best, nice call back, excellent?
[21:53] Speaker 2: Which one speaks to me.
[21:56] Speaker 5: If one of the I'm just not feeling this todaytime.
[21:59] Speaker 1: I'm sorry today not the day.
[22:02] Speaker 5: That's right.
[22:04] Speaker 3: In the You know, I love my forty five caliber
[22:07] Speaker 3: ninety eleven's, But boy, when you go out and shoot
[22:10] Speaker 3: a nine versus the forty five, the difference of recoil
[22:13] Speaker 3: is substantial, and recovery time and speed you're going, So
[22:16] Speaker 3: it would just be silly to shoot the forty five
[22:19] Speaker 3: and you could shoot the nine with less recoil, which
[22:22] Speaker 3: gives you more speed, and it's a pure speed event.
[22:25] Speaker 1: Well, and you could probably buy what a box and
[22:28] Speaker 1: a half two boxes to one forty five in your
[22:30] Speaker 1: nine millimeter probably two to one in price.
[22:34] Speaker 3: I mean it's close to two to one. And it
[22:36] Speaker 3: is absolutely two to one when it comes to the
[22:39] Speaker 3: weight of the AMMO.
[22:40] Speaker 2: Yes.
[22:41] Speaker 4: Yeah, when you pick.
[22:42] Speaker 3: You pick up a case of forty five, you're going
[22:44] Speaker 3: if you've been used to pick it up nine Holy cow,
[22:47] Speaker 3: while that's heavy. And then you think, well, it's one
[22:50] Speaker 3: hundred and fifteen grain bullet versus two hundred and thirty
[22:52] Speaker 3: grain bullet. We call that twice as much.
[22:55] Speaker 2: Weird, that's math weird.
[22:57] Speaker 5: How that was? It's a math thing.
[23:01] Speaker 2: You math out loud.
[23:04] Speaker 6: And that twenty one cents around come on.
[23:06] Speaker 3: Yeah, we just found a source for some twenty one
[23:08] Speaker 3: cents around nine milimeters shipped. No, it is non reloadable.
[23:13] Speaker 3: Its steel. But if you don't reload, big.
[23:16] Speaker 5: Deal, right right, As long as it just it makes
[23:19] Speaker 5: it easier.
[23:20] Speaker 3: To pick up the brass if you have a magnet,
[23:22] Speaker 3: right right, Really, you just run your magnet over there
[23:26] Speaker 3: and I got all your brash.
[23:28] Speaker 5: You picked it up early, early, on.
[23:30] Speaker 6: I had some cycling issues with steelcase ammo. Is that
[23:33] Speaker 6: something they've resolved.
[23:37] Speaker 3: No, not necessarily, and it depends if it's like the
[23:39] Speaker 3: old Russian steelcase stuff, it's pretty much junk. But yes,
[23:43] Speaker 3: some guns don't like steelcase AMMO. It can be a
[23:46] Speaker 3: little sticky. If you will to steal it gets steeled,
[23:51] Speaker 3: you kind of get a galling sometimes.
[23:53] Speaker 5: Do you have to be aware of that?
[23:55] Speaker 1: Do some of the manufacturers still do on null and
[23:58] Speaker 1: void if you're using steel ammunition in their warranty stuff?
[24:02] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[24:04] Speaker 2: I don't know that, because I know there were some
[24:07] Speaker 2: that did.
[24:07] Speaker 1: I can't recall right now you know which ones they were,
[24:11] Speaker 1: but right, Yeah.
[24:12] Speaker 6: Go back to your search history, get past the cheeseburgers
[24:15] Speaker 6: and look it up.
[24:20] Speaker 5: That's that's interesting. I did not.
[24:22] Speaker 3: I guess I never really paid attention that that could
[24:25] Speaker 3: void a warranty.
[24:26] Speaker 6: I used to.
[24:27] Speaker 2: There are some manufacturers.
[24:30] Speaker 1: I don't know if Black was one of them, but yeah,
[24:33] Speaker 1: check your user manuals to check.
[24:36] Speaker 5: On that first.
[24:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, before you do that, you thought, yep, all right, well,
[24:42] Speaker 3: so this week it's going to be me shooting a
[24:45] Speaker 3: three seventy five AH and H and a couple other things.
[24:49] Speaker 3: That's right, Happy Birthday, America. But I got We're going
[24:53] Speaker 3: to do a kind of a Fourth of July ish show,
[24:55] Speaker 3: but it'll be on the fifth next week. It'll be
[24:57] Speaker 3: during the fourth of July weekend, celebrating.
[25:00] Speaker 6: Did you order your new shoulder your new shoulder yet
[25:03] Speaker 6: your shoulder replacement can't?
[25:05] Speaker 5: Uh.
[25:06] Speaker 3: Fortunately, I do have one of the past recoil shields,
[25:09] Speaker 3: which are one of the best things you could have,
[25:12] Speaker 3: and they're now owned by Caldwell and I just would
[25:16] Speaker 3: say it is maybe one of the best shooting accessories
[25:19] Speaker 3: I've ever used.
[25:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, they're great.
[25:23] Speaker 3: Now they are you just I mean you shoot, you
[25:24] Speaker 3: shoot big rifles and it just doesn't kick.
[25:27] Speaker 6: And they don't have any mercury in them like the
[25:28] Speaker 6: old ones.
[25:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, the oldmurcury ones in the stock. And this is
[25:32] Speaker 3: just a thing you put on your shoulder, and they
[25:36] Speaker 3: have different It.
[25:36] Speaker 6: Doesn't mount to the gun.
[25:38] Speaker 1: You put it on yourself, okay, and they have it's
[25:42] Speaker 1: like irregular, and then they have magnum, and then they
[25:44] Speaker 1: have one for the ladies.
[25:45] Speaker 6: It's kind of like a single side shoulder pad kind
[25:47] Speaker 6: of deal.
[25:48] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[25:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, I've even got like one that clips onto a
[25:52] Speaker 3: brass strap yet ourst That was interesting.
[25:53] Speaker 6: Yeah, okay, oh now yeah.
[25:58] Speaker 3: Speaking of that, I told Jim we were going to
[26:01] Speaker 3: do this. I told me I wanted to talk about boobs.
[26:04] Speaker 3: So looking at pictures of people, of people shooting at
[26:09] Speaker 3: the range, and there's some of the women with the
[26:13] Speaker 3: well endowed women with the very deep cleavage shooting at
[26:17] Speaker 3: the range, and I'm just thinking.
[26:18] Speaker 5: Hot brass. Come on, people, hot brass. It's like, you know,
[26:23] Speaker 5: a twenty two is not gonna be pleasant, a nine
[26:26] Speaker 5: milimeter is gonna hurt, but a two two three will
[26:29] Speaker 5: literally scar you. It's so hot the brass.
[26:33] Speaker 3: Just I just look at those pictures and think, what
[26:35] Speaker 3: are we thinking?
[26:36] Speaker 6: Well, I know what we're thinking for recoil, recoil.
[26:41] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[26:42] Speaker 3: And all I'm thinking about is, lady, don't do that.
[26:44] Speaker 3: That's just going to hurt yourself doing this.
[26:46] Speaker 6: You're gentlemen. I've always said that about you.
[26:48] Speaker 3: Well, you know anybody who's had hot brass, I mean
[26:53] Speaker 3: like burn you or land on like short seat, you
[26:55] Speaker 3: wear a short sleeve shirt and you get a two
[26:58] Speaker 3: three round lands on you.
[27:00] Speaker 5: I mean you can't get it off fast enough for
[27:02] Speaker 5: it not to raise.
[27:03] Speaker 1: A welt or if you're a person that likes to
[27:05] Speaker 1: wear the crocks and it happens to fall at your.
[27:07] Speaker 4: pH Oh my god. Yeah.
[27:11] Speaker 6: Oh can you do the dance while putting your safety on?
[27:15] Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
[27:17] Speaker 4: You know.
[27:17] Speaker 5: And by the way, wear a hat with a bill
[27:20] Speaker 5: on it, because the what you really really don't want
[27:23] Speaker 5: is for hot brash to slide back in behind your
[27:26] Speaker 5: shooting glasses.
[27:27] Speaker 4: Yeah, in your face, yep.
[27:29] Speaker 5: Gets stuck back on your eyelid. So yeah, there's a
[27:32] Speaker 5: reason we wear build caps with button our shirts up,
[27:36] Speaker 5: or we use a like a kerchief or something in
[27:38] Speaker 5: the neck. You just got to think about that stuff.
[27:41] Speaker 6: Textures, and we do have listeners in their twenties and thirties.
[27:43] Speaker 6: We want to specify that that bill is facing forward
[27:46] Speaker 6: as designed.
[27:48] Speaker 5: There is that, yes, or you could get the lovely
[27:51] Speaker 5: duck bill that has a bill front and back.
[27:54] Speaker 4: Ah.
[27:55] Speaker 5: So that's rights people who don't know you're coming or going.
[28:00] Speaker 3: There, You go, all right, well, I'll give you. I'll
[28:02] Speaker 3: give you a range report on the big African rifle.
[28:05] Speaker 5: Once I shoot that and.
[28:07] Speaker 3: Look at you know, we should be getting in a
[28:09] Speaker 3: cult commander this week and I'll take that Dan West
[28:14] Speaker 3: and DWX out and shoot it because it's it's unique,
[28:17] Speaker 3: it's different, and I think I'm gonna like it, but
[28:20] Speaker 3: I want to go shoot it some we'll see.
[28:22] Speaker 6: We got a reason to be here.
[28:23] Speaker 2: Then, Michelle, Right, do a follow up range report.
[28:26] Speaker 5: Yeah, that's right. Bring your own fireworks next.
[28:29] Speaker 6: Week, pio f, I love it.
[28:31] Speaker 5: That's right. You guys have a very safe Fourth of
[28:34] Speaker 5: July YouTube.
[28:35] Speaker 2: Everybody as well. Thank you. We'll catch you next time
[28:38] Speaker 2: for the Gun Talk after show.
