[0:33] Speaker 3: thirty years, Tom Gresham has been your trusted source on
[0:37] Speaker 3: all things ballistic, new guns, Second Amendment, personal protection, deep
[0:42] Speaker 3: part of it, Paul, Tom Talk Gun Now, here's Tom.
[0:55] Speaker 4: All right, I'm we here. I'm Tom Gresham and this
[1:01] Speaker 4: is gun Talk. I thought we were doing that other intro.
[1:03] Speaker 4: Sorry about that. Hey, I'm with you today. It is
[1:06] Speaker 4: Father's Day. Glad that you could be with us. Gun Talk,
[1:08] Speaker 4: of course, is where we gather to talk about guns
[1:11] Speaker 4: and shooting and hunting and Second Amendment and all sorts
[1:15] Speaker 4: of things. But today is Father's Day, so I'm going
[1:17] Speaker 4: to ask you to join us to share your stories
[1:21] Speaker 4: about your dad or maybe some things you've done with
[1:24] Speaker 4: the dad or granddad, or even your family. Gun stories,
[1:27] Speaker 4: hunting stories. It doesn't matter. We're just swapping tales around here.
[1:32] Speaker 4: It's a good day for sharing those stories. In remembering.
[1:36] Speaker 4: I'll have a couple I want to share with you
[1:38] Speaker 4: some things I learned, maybe some things I'm remembering now.
[1:41] Speaker 4: It's interesting as you get older you look back and go, oh, yeah,
[1:44] Speaker 4: I remember when he taught me that hadn't thought about
[1:46] Speaker 4: that in years. Share those stories. Give me a call
[1:49] Speaker 4: at Tom talk gun. All right, we got to get
[1:52] Speaker 4: to this. Yeah, we'll do the Father's Day stuff and
[1:54] Speaker 4: just a bit, but we got to get to this
[1:56] Speaker 4: because there was a major decision made by the United
[1:58] Speaker 4: States Supreme Court unanimous, yes, let me say that again,
[2:02] Speaker 4: unanimous decision in our favor that came out on Thursday.
[2:07] Speaker 4: It's the Harmonic Case, and it's about the government's ban
[2:11] Speaker 4: on owning a gun if you are a user of marijuana,
[2:15] Speaker 4: and that has been rule to be unconstitutional. But there's
[2:18] Speaker 4: a whole lot more to it, and I think a
[2:20] Speaker 4: lot of people are missing things. And when I contacted
[2:23] Speaker 4: Mark Smith from the Four Boxes Diner, he said, yeah,
[2:26] Speaker 4: that's important, but there's a lot more to this. And
[2:30] Speaker 4: so we bring him in right now, Mark, I am
[2:32] Speaker 4: so glad you're with us. I mean, you are, of
[2:33] Speaker 4: course a member of the Supreme Court bar, you are
[2:36] Speaker 4: a noted attorney, you're Second Amendment scholar, and you are
[2:39] Speaker 4: quite frankly my personal law professor. You're where I go
[2:43] Speaker 4: to learn things about this. You do such a great job,
[2:45] Speaker 4: my friend.
[2:47] Speaker 5: Thank you Tom for having me on. It's an exciting day.
[2:49] Speaker 5: And let me be clear, because you know I'm not
[2:52] Speaker 5: known for hyperbole. I call it as I see it.
[2:54] Speaker 5: Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's bad. And I'm happy to
[2:57] Speaker 5: report that this US Supreme Court decision in Helmani is devastating,
[3:01] Speaker 5: devastating to the anti gun movement in America, with not
[3:05] Speaker 5: just the decision itself for mister Harmonia, more importantly, the
[3:08] Speaker 5: things the court had to say, which is going to
[3:11] Speaker 5: speak to what courts are going to be following in
[3:13] Speaker 5: terms of protecting our rights moving forward. This is a
[3:15] Speaker 5: terrible decision if you hate guns, and a fantastic decision
[3:19] Speaker 5: if you love the Second Amendment. And for the mainstream media, Tom,
[3:22] Speaker 5: the lamestream media that doesn't generally know a lot about
[3:25] Speaker 5: guns or the Second Amendment, they don't understand or fully
[3:28] Speaker 5: appreciate what a takedown of the anti gun movement this was.
[3:32] Speaker 5: They just report on, oh, if you use marijuana, you're
[3:35] Speaker 5: a pothead. You know, you get your guns. But it's
[3:38] Speaker 5: so much more than that, because it's not just about
[3:41] Speaker 5: who wins the case, Tom, as you know, it's how
[3:43] Speaker 5: they win the case and what the court says. Because
[3:45] Speaker 5: it's what the court says that's going to ripple out
[3:48] Speaker 5: for years to come in a very good way for us.
[3:51] Speaker 4: And that was my question to you right off the bed.
[3:53] Speaker 4: I said, all right, I don't use marijuana, so why
[3:56] Speaker 4: is this important to me? And that's when you said, eah,
[3:58] Speaker 4: this is what everybody is meant thing on this, So
[4:01] Speaker 4: you have the floor explain why and this is important
[4:03] Speaker 4: to people who don't use marijuana and don't particularly care
[4:06] Speaker 4: about that.
[4:08] Speaker 5: Well, as I explain on the four Box of Donner, Tom,
[4:10] Speaker 5: you know, I point out that whenever you read a
[4:13] Speaker 5: court decision, especially a Supreme Court decision or any kind
[4:16] Speaker 5: of appellate court decision, there's two things you look for.
[4:19] Speaker 5: The first is who wins the case. Who wins the case,
[4:22] Speaker 5: of course, is extremely important to the parties involved. You
[4:26] Speaker 5: want to win your case. You don't want to lose
[4:27] Speaker 5: your case. But from our perspective in the Second Amendic community,
[4:32] Speaker 5: what's more important is the method or the interpretation or
[4:37] Speaker 5: the approach and the reasoning that the Court articulated as
[4:41] Speaker 5: to why who won or who lost the case. Because
[4:44] Speaker 5: it's the Supreme Court's reasoning an explanation of who wins
[4:47] Speaker 5: or loses the case that we in the Second Amendic community,
[4:50] Speaker 5: TOM are going to be able to take and apply
[4:52] Speaker 5: to future Second Amendment challenges to modern day gun control laws.
[4:56] Speaker 5: And here mister Harmani is very very happy per that
[5:00] Speaker 5: he won his case, which is good for mister Harmani,
[5:03] Speaker 5: But it's so much more than that. Because the way
[5:06] Speaker 5: the Supreme Court went down the path of analyzing the
[5:10] Speaker 5: Second Amendment, what it means, how it applies, how it's
[5:14] Speaker 5: to be enforced against moderny gun controls. There's tons of
[5:17] Speaker 5: fantastic things in this opinion. The lower courts, both at
[5:21] Speaker 5: the state level, TOM and at the federal level are
[5:23] Speaker 5: going to be able to apply to knock out all
[5:26] Speaker 5: sorts of gun control laws and protect our rights in
[5:28] Speaker 5: a robust way that I'm happy to report. I'll just
[5:30] Speaker 5: mention this and you can ask me any question you want.
[5:32] Speaker 5: The good news is for those of you who learn
[5:35] Speaker 5: from the Four Boxes Diner and understand the process from
[5:38] Speaker 5: the Four Boxes Donor, you will see that the US
[5:40] Speaker 5: Supreme Court essentially is articulating all the views of the
[5:43] Speaker 5: Four Boxes Diners. So if you're learning from the Four
[5:45] Speaker 5: Boxes Donnor YouTube show, you're basically tracking what the Supreme
[5:49] Speaker 5: Court justices that support the Second Amendment are thinking. It's
[5:52] Speaker 5: amazing how it all lines up, all.
[5:56] Speaker 4: Right, So what you're saying, let me just boil this down,
[5:59] Speaker 4: is in this decision, the Supreme Court has issued a
[6:02] Speaker 4: set of instructions to lower courts of this is how
[6:06] Speaker 4: you need to look at Second Amendment cases, and this
[6:09] Speaker 4: is how you need to treat them under this these
[6:12] Speaker 4: parameters or these margins basically say this is what you
[6:15] Speaker 4: need to be doing on the Second indic cases that
[6:18] Speaker 4: are coming to you.
[6:19] Speaker 5: That's exactly right, And there's some really huge things at
[6:23] Speaker 5: the Supreme Court in many respects is reiterating and reinforcing
[6:27] Speaker 5: because one of the things that happens in the lower
[6:29] Speaker 5: courts is, especially in these blue jurisdictions, tom the New
[6:32] Speaker 5: York's of the world the California, Hawaii, Washington State, Maryland, Illinois.
[6:37] Speaker 5: You get the point. Those judges go out there say, oh,
[6:40] Speaker 5: we're so confused about you know, could go this way
[6:43] Speaker 5: that way. Inevitably they rubber stamp and fair with the government.
[6:46] Speaker 5: But the Supreme Court, because of these decisions of Heller
[6:49] Speaker 5: and the McDonald and then Bruin and then Cataneo and
[6:52] Speaker 5: then Raheemi and now Hamami, at some point it becomes
[6:56] Speaker 5: much harder for even the anti gun lower court judges
[6:59] Speaker 5: to or this. And that is what's such a big deal.
[7:02] Speaker 5: So for just to give you one example here, this
[7:05] Speaker 5: decision is going to be extremely helpful for shrinking the
[7:08] Speaker 5: scope of red flag laws because this court, even though
[7:12] Speaker 5: this case was not a red flag law case, which
[7:14] Speaker 5: of course is you know, red flag law is a
[7:16] Speaker 5: euphemism for essentially taking away guns without due process. The
[7:20] Speaker 5: Supreme Court repeatedly said in this case of Ani, they
[7:24] Speaker 5: use the phrase pre deprivation process, pre deprivation process. And
[7:30] Speaker 5: what that's referring to is they say, look before someone
[7:33] Speaker 5: can be found. First of all they say is to
[7:35] Speaker 5: take away one's gun rights, you have to basically be
[7:38] Speaker 5: a danger to yourself or a danger to someone else,
[7:42] Speaker 5: or that you've somehow misused the gun. Okay, so if
[7:45] Speaker 5: you're a danger to yourself, or you're a danger to
[7:47] Speaker 5: someone else, or you've misused the gun, then there may
[7:50] Speaker 5: be punishments. So if you're just an ordinary law binding
[7:52] Speaker 5: person possessing the gun, you haven't misused it. There's nothing
[7:55] Speaker 5: about you that makes you dangerous. I mean, you're not
[7:56] Speaker 5: a psychopath. You should be put in a mental institution.
[7:59] Speaker 5: And you know, there's no evidence that you're a violent
[8:01] Speaker 5: danger because you haven't threatened someone like mister Rahimi did
[8:04] Speaker 5: a couple of years ago where he took his girlfriends
[8:06] Speaker 5: his ex girlfriend's head and hit it against the dashboard
[8:08] Speaker 5: and then shot at witnesses. So if you don't do
[8:10] Speaker 5: stuff like that, the Supreme Court is basically indicating that
[8:13] Speaker 5: you should be good to go under the Second Amendment.
[8:15] Speaker 5: But what they go on to saying, why this is
[8:17] Speaker 5: so important for the red flag law context tom is
[8:19] Speaker 5: they basically say that before you're found to be a
[8:22] Speaker 5: danger to yourself or a danger to someone else, or
[8:24] Speaker 5: that you've misused the gun, there's almost always a pre
[8:27] Speaker 5: deprivation legal process for you to be able to put
[8:30] Speaker 5: on evidence and cross examine witness and figure out is
[8:32] Speaker 5: it really true. So someone can't just come in and
[8:35] Speaker 5: say Tom is a bad person. That's not going to
[8:37] Speaker 5: hold any weight anymore. There's going to have to be
[8:39] Speaker 5: an actual hearing and an actual finding with the actual
[8:42] Speaker 5: fact that Tom is a danger to himself or a
[8:44] Speaker 5: danger to someone else or misused the gun. And without that,
[8:47] Speaker 5: basically the Supreme Court saying that, yeah, we can't be
[8:49] Speaker 5: messing with you because we can't take away a fundamental
[8:51] Speaker 5: right because.
[8:53] Speaker 4: Most red flag laws do not contain a provision for
[8:57] Speaker 4: the due process. They are set up so that somebody
[9:00] Speaker 4: can make the accusation and you don't even get to
[9:03] Speaker 4: defend yourself against the accusation before somebody comes and takes
[9:05] Speaker 4: your guns away.
[9:07] Speaker 5: That's right. But if you look at this decision if money,
[9:10] Speaker 5: which is why I really hammer home to the second
[9:12] Speaker 5: amendic community and to all the scholars, the lawyers, the litigators,
[9:15] Speaker 5: and even the judges and law clerks listen to my stuff,
[9:17] Speaker 5: I point out that there there's always needs to be
[9:20] Speaker 5: a pre deprivation hearing. Now, this game has been played
[9:23] Speaker 5: with the red flag laws, and just to step back
[9:25] Speaker 5: the picture, Tom, this is important for every understanding. For many, many,
[9:28] Speaker 5: many decades, every state in the country has a civil
[9:32] Speaker 5: commitment process where if someone is truly mentally ill to
[9:36] Speaker 5: the point of being a danger. Going back decades, there's
[9:39] Speaker 5: been a process whereby you can be adjudicated mentally defective
[9:44] Speaker 5: or mentally incapacitated or mentally ill and you know, you know,
[9:47] Speaker 5: put civilly committed for treatment or whatever. That is not new,
[9:50] Speaker 5: what is good. So the problem for the anti gun
[9:53] Speaker 5: movement tom is that because of that, there's been all
[9:56] Speaker 5: these due process protections that have built up over the years.
[10:00] Speaker 5: So what the anti gun movement in is they did
[10:01] Speaker 5: a little movement here and they says, well, we want
[10:05] Speaker 5: red flag laws, which is a form of civil commitment,
[10:07] Speaker 5: but without the due process. But now the Supreme Court
[10:10] Speaker 5: has just indicated this Harmoni case that there needs to
[10:12] Speaker 5: be some sort of pre deprivation process before someone can
[10:15] Speaker 5: be punished. And what they said here and the reason
[10:17] Speaker 5: why i'd apply to Hamani, they says, there's never been
[10:20] Speaker 5: any hearing, any trial, any evidence put on that despite
[10:23] Speaker 5: the fact mister Hammoni used marijuana, there's no evidence that
[10:27] Speaker 5: he was a danger to himself, that he was a
[10:28] Speaker 5: danger to someone else, that he wasn't able to pay
[10:30] Speaker 5: his bills, that he wasn't able to function a society,
[10:33] Speaker 5: nothing other than the mere assertion that he used these drugs.
[10:37] Speaker 5: And that is not enough to take away someone's Second
[10:39] Speaker 5: event rights, because the proof has to be you're a
[10:41] Speaker 5: danger to yourself or to someone else. Merely using pot
[10:44] Speaker 5: does not make you a danger to yourself or to
[10:46] Speaker 5: someone else. And therefore, in the Hani case, Supreme Court
[10:49] Speaker 5: rule for Hamani. But again the standard that was up
[10:51] Speaker 5: said Tom, is great for all Second Amendments supporters in
[10:55] Speaker 5: light of this. But again, these are the kinds of
[10:57] Speaker 5: dots that I connect up for people.
[10:59] Speaker 4: All right, hold on, Mike, Mark, I got to think
[11:01] Speaker 4: a quick break here for to come back. We're talking

[13:57] Speaker 10: won't have time.
[14:09] Speaker 4: All right, it's time to go to school again. We're
[14:11] Speaker 4: talking with Mark Smith from the Four Boxes Diner where
[14:14] Speaker 4: you go for your information about Second Amendment cases, and
[14:16] Speaker 4: Mark really has a great way of explaining this stuff.
[14:19] Speaker 4: And Mark, there are two other things that wanted us
[14:21] Speaker 4: to touch on. I mean, the Harmonic case is huge,
[14:23] Speaker 4: and we'll see what happens with the aftermath of that.
[14:27] Speaker 4: But we have another case with the Supreme Court we're
[14:29] Speaker 4: probably going to get a decision on in days. And
[14:33] Speaker 4: something just happened down in Florida on this eighteen to
[14:36] Speaker 4: twenty one year old olds being able to own guns.
[14:40] Speaker 4: Pick one, whichever way you want to go on that.
[14:44] Speaker 5: Well, the language of the Second Amendment reads, the right
[14:48] Speaker 5: of the people, the people to keep in their arms
[14:51] Speaker 5: shall not be infringed. So what's going on is to
[14:54] Speaker 5: try to kill American gun culture. The anti gunners try
[14:57] Speaker 5: to deny people the ability to exercise the to keep
[15:00] Speaker 5: in barre arms until much later in life. So one
[15:02] Speaker 5: of the ways they do this is they try to
[15:04] Speaker 5: restrict in various ways the ability of eighteen nineteen and
[15:07] Speaker 5: twenty year olds to possess and use firearms. But that,
[15:10] Speaker 5: of course is inconsistent because eighteen nineteen twenty year olds
[15:12] Speaker 5: are part of the people, and there's no historical tradition
[15:15] Speaker 5: of banning eighteen, nineteen and twenty year olds from possessing
[15:18] Speaker 5: and using firearms going all the way back to the
[15:21] Speaker 5: Federal Militia Act of seventeen ninety two, adopted one year
[15:24] Speaker 5: after the Second Amendment, that actually required eighteen and nineteen
[15:28] Speaker 5: and twenty year old Americans to go out and get
[15:31] Speaker 5: their own guns and AMMO and then bring them to
[15:33] Speaker 5: militia musters. So what happened in Florida was there was
[15:37] Speaker 5: a law in Florida basically prevented eighteen nineteen twenty yearls
[15:40] Speaker 5: from being able to conceal carry guns under the state law,
[15:43] Speaker 5: and a state judge just said that that law violates
[15:46] Speaker 5: the Second Amendment because eighteen nineteen and twenty year old
[15:49] Speaker 5: Americans are obviously part of the people, as in the
[15:52] Speaker 5: right of the people to keep in bar arms shall
[15:53] Speaker 5: not be infringed, and there's no historical tradition of eighteen
[15:57] Speaker 5: nineteen twenty year olds being denied the ability to possess firearms,
[16:00] Speaker 5: and therefore the state law in Florida was unconstitutional under
[16:05] Speaker 5: the Second Amendment, which is clearly the right answer. In fact,
[16:08] Speaker 5: there's a good chance that the Supreme Court itself, meaning
[16:10] Speaker 5: the US Supreme Court, may actually hear this case because
[16:13] Speaker 5: there's about five or six young adult cases penning before
[16:16] Speaker 5: the US Supreme Court and they have been penning since
[16:19] Speaker 5: the fall, and we're waiting for our cert decision right now,
[16:21] Speaker 5: and the court's been holding that, and I think there's
[16:23] Speaker 5: a good chance they're going to grant cert on one
[16:25] Speaker 5: of these young adult cases, because it's pretty clear that
[16:27] Speaker 5: an eighteen nineteen twenty year old who can vote, who
[16:30] Speaker 5: can get married because the parents apparently can change their
[16:32] Speaker 5: sex and all sorts of other stuff, and how can
[16:37] Speaker 5: they be denied their right to keep them keeping by that,
[16:39] Speaker 5: eighteen nineteen twenty year olds are the most vulnerable people
[16:41] Speaker 5: in our society because they have the least amount of
[16:43] Speaker 5: money and frankly to get the worst shifts at the
[16:45] Speaker 5: hospital in the graveyard ship. So in many respects, they're
[16:48] Speaker 5: the most vulnerable to danger and violence, and they need
[16:51] Speaker 5: the most self protection of anyone in society because they
[16:54] Speaker 5: haven't had a chance or earned money to live in
[16:55] Speaker 5: a nice neighborhood just yet.
[16:57] Speaker 4: Fascinating. We'll watch that one. That's going to be interesting,
[17:00] Speaker 4: And I think you're right the Supreme Court's got to
[17:02] Speaker 4: take a case like that. But we have a Supreme
[17:04] Speaker 4: Court case, they've already heard it. We're waiting for the
[17:06] Speaker 4: decision to come forward. Out of Hawaii the Wofford case,
[17:09] Speaker 4: And this one is very interesting because what happens is Hawaii,
[17:13] Speaker 4: as have several other states, had decided they will react
[17:17] Speaker 4: to the Brewing decision and resist the Brewing decision and
[17:22] Speaker 4: try to pass as many restrictions as they can on
[17:24] Speaker 4: where you can go with a gun, where you can carry,
[17:26] Speaker 4: and how that all works. So you want to explain
[17:28] Speaker 4: what's going on there and where you think this case
[17:30] Speaker 4: is going to go.
[17:31] Speaker 5: Yeah, the US Supreme Court is going to rule for
[17:33] Speaker 5: the Second Amendment big time, and this new type of
[17:36] Speaker 5: law is going to be literally crushed like a bug
[17:39] Speaker 5: in the next week or two. Now, what this law
[17:42] Speaker 5: is was enacted in several states that including Hawaiian. The
[17:45] Speaker 5: way it works is this, So you go through the
[17:47] Speaker 5: process and get your concealed carry lacens in a place
[17:49] Speaker 5: like Hawaii, California, New York, Okay. Then what they say
[17:53] Speaker 5: is they claim that you are not allowed to bring
[17:56] Speaker 5: your gun with a concealed carry from it into any
[17:59] Speaker 5: private property including stores, restaurants, rest areas, gas stations, launder mats,
[18:06] Speaker 5: anything that's open to the public. If it's on private property,
[18:09] Speaker 5: you must first and foremost get permission from the owner
[18:14] Speaker 5: of that establishment before you can go in. So if
[18:16] Speaker 5: you want to go into Starbucks and get a coffee
[18:18] Speaker 5: with your concealed carry permit and your gun, you've got
[18:20] Speaker 5: to call up the owner of Starbucks to get permission
[18:22] Speaker 5: to do so. And the Supreme Court basically is going
[18:25] Speaker 5: to blow that up and say no, from the beginning
[18:27] Speaker 5: of time, you're allowed to bring your gun anywhere, and
[18:29] Speaker 5: a property already can stop you from bringing a gun
[18:31] Speaker 5: on his property, but you cannot pass the law that
[18:34] Speaker 5: says you can't bring a gun onto that property without permission.
[18:36] Speaker 5: There's no historical tradition to that in American life. It's
[18:39] Speaker 5: a brand new thing and it's not going to go
[18:41] Speaker 5: anywhere because they're going to say, why don't we just
[18:43] Speaker 5: change this to the First Amendment context and say you
[18:45] Speaker 5: can't the Federal gumm passes the laws as you can't
[18:47] Speaker 5: wear a Donald Trump hat into a place of establishment
[18:50] Speaker 5: without first getting permission. That would never fly. It's not
[18:52] Speaker 5: going to fly with the Second Amendment. It's going to
[18:54] Speaker 5: be another huge win for the Second Amendment in this
[18:57] Speaker 5: Wolford versus Lopez case, and it's another blow to the
[18:59] Speaker 5: end anti gun movement. And this is very bad stuff
[19:02] Speaker 5: for the anti gun movement because it's going to have
[19:03] Speaker 5: a ripple effect hugely in our favor and against the
[19:06] Speaker 5: gun control agenda.
[19:08] Speaker 4: All right, let me ask you the big question. Then
[19:10] Speaker 4: there's one more for you. Are we going to get
[19:13] Speaker 4: a hard work case. Is the Supreme Court going to
[19:15] Speaker 4: look at one of these cases where states are banning
[19:19] Speaker 4: AR fifteens.
[19:20] Speaker 5: Yes, we are. And I think there's a little bit
[19:22] Speaker 5: of a chicken in the egg problem here. This is
[19:24] Speaker 5: a certain inside baseball. So what's going on? You know,
[19:29] Speaker 5: here's what's going on. The US Supreme Court with Chief
[19:32] Speaker 5: Justice John Roberts is looking for a circuit split where
[19:35] Speaker 5: there is some courts to say you can't banning our
[19:38] Speaker 5: fifteen some courts say you can. The US Court Appeals
[19:41] Speaker 5: for the Third Circuit, which is the federal appellate court
[19:43] Speaker 5: that covers New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania, is getting ready
[19:47] Speaker 5: to rule in favor of the Second Amendment and knock
[19:49] Speaker 5: out New Jersey as a so called assault with the
[19:51] Speaker 5: Then that is going to happen. The thing is that
[19:53] Speaker 5: the Third here's the chicken end of the egg problem.
[19:56] Speaker 5: The Third Circuit does not want to decide that an
[19:58] Speaker 5: issue that opinion. US Supreme Court finishes this term at
[20:01] Speaker 5: the end of June because they want to be able
[20:04] Speaker 5: to refer to the Wolfrid case in the Helmani case
[20:06] Speaker 5: in their opinion, so they're not told they have to
[20:08] Speaker 5: redo it again. So the Supreme Court is waiting for
[20:12] Speaker 5: that Third Circuit decision. But the Third Circuit is waiting
[20:14] Speaker 5: for the Supreme Court. So but but I suspect, I
[20:18] Speaker 5: suspect there's an excellent chance we're going to get a
[20:20] Speaker 5: grant in an AR fifteen case. The Magazine case is
[20:23] Speaker 5: a little bit quirkier, but I think that. Yeah, I
[20:26] Speaker 5: think the AR fifteen bank case is going to be
[20:28] Speaker 5: coming up soon. And if they grant SIRT, we're one
[20:31] Speaker 5: hundred percent, one hundred percent going to win the AR
[20:34] Speaker 5: fifteen semi automatic rightful ban case. There's a zero percent
[20:37] Speaker 5: chance we lose it. We just need the court to
[20:40] Speaker 5: grant SERT and everyone knows it, including the court.
[20:43] Speaker 4: Wow, amazing stuff, Mark Smith, You are amazing. I love
[20:46] Speaker 4: how you present your information. You got all the energy
[20:48] Speaker 4: in the world, and I learned so much from washing
[20:51] Speaker 4: your channel, the four box just channel four Boxist Diner
[20:54] Speaker 4: channel on YouTube. Thank you for what you do.
[20:57] Speaker 5: Thanks Tom, I appreciate it and happy pap to pay
[20:59] Speaker 5: it you and to all the listeners out there there.
[21:02] Speaker 4: You go take care of our really appreciate it. Yeah,
[21:06] Speaker 4: amazing stuff, really good education if you're interested in this.
[21:09] Speaker 4: And like he often says, look, there's a lot more
[21:11] Speaker 4: to this than just standing on the street street corner
[21:14] Speaker 4: and shouting shall not be infringed. And I understand. We
[21:17] Speaker 4: get frustrated. We want it all now, but there's a
[21:19] Speaker 4: process and there's a way things actually do work. And
[21:23] Speaker 4: he explains it very well. Do you go, Okay, we're
[21:25] Speaker 4: gonna have to have this happen and then this and
[21:27] Speaker 4: this and this and this, and we'll eventually get to
[21:29] Speaker 4: the thing, but we can't get to the thing until
[21:32] Speaker 4: we take care of these preliminary items. And yes, it's
[21:36] Speaker 4: really frustrating for me. It's a frustrating for all of
[21:39] Speaker 4: us because frankly, we know we're right and we don't
[21:43] Speaker 4: understand why everybody doesn't understand that we're right. But that's okay,
[21:47] Speaker 4: we're going to get there. I am encouraged by Mark's
[21:50] Speaker 4: enthusiasm and what's going on there. All right, let's open
[21:54] Speaker 4: the doors. Now. It is Father's to day. I'm going
[21:56] Speaker 4: to have a story or two of my own, but
[21:58] Speaker 4: it would invite you to call with your stories about
[22:01] Speaker 4: your dad or your granddad and guns and shooting and
[22:06] Speaker 4: safety and camping and outdoor events. Just share them all,
[22:11] Speaker 4: you know what, bump share. Let's have some fun. The
[22:14] Speaker 4: floor is open for you right now. Give me a
[22:16] Speaker 4: call at eight six y six Talk Gun or Tom
[22:19] Speaker 4: Talk Gun, same number, different way of getting there. I'm
[22:21] Speaker 4: Tom Gresham and this is gun Talk. Check us out
[22:23] Speaker 4: on gun talk dot com and over on x I
[22:26] Speaker 4: am at gun Talk. We'll be right back. So glad
[22:37] Speaker 4: you're here. I'm glad that I'm here. In his father's day.
[22:40] Speaker 4: It is also the longest day of the year. It
[22:43] Speaker 4: is Summer Solstice, June twenty first. It's also my dad's birthday.
[22:47] Speaker 4: We always celebrate him at aad's birthday of the longest day. Oh,
[22:50] Speaker 4: when I lived in Alaska, we always celebrated the longest
[22:54] Speaker 4: day of the year because we had all this daylight.
[22:56] Speaker 4: We had people over to the house. We always had
[22:57] Speaker 4: a barbecue. And just to show you how different people
[23:01] Speaker 4: react to different things, my good friend Tom Brinn up
[23:04] Speaker 4: there and good irishman, and Tom enjoyed a party as
[23:09] Speaker 4: much as anybody, but he also was Irish, so tended
[23:12] Speaker 4: toward the morose. And on the longest day of the year,
[23:16] Speaker 4: when we're all celebrating all this daylight, it really bummed
[23:20] Speaker 4: him out. I said, well, what's the deal to we
[23:22] Speaker 4: know because from now on all the days get shorter. Okay,
[23:26] Speaker 4: it's all about perspective. There you go. But anyway, Happy
[23:29] Speaker 4: Father's Day. What's your Father's Day story? Give me holler
[23:31] Speaker 4: at Tom Talk. Gun Let's go. Let's go, Ron out
[23:35] Speaker 4: of Emmett, Idaho. Hey Ron, you're on Gun Talk. What
[23:38] Speaker 4: happened to you?
[23:40] Speaker 11: Hey?
[23:40] Speaker 12: Tom? I got a little anecdote about fathers and sons
[23:43] Speaker 12: I thought you might find amusing. She was at the
[23:47] Speaker 12: World Speed Shooting Championships just a couple of weeks ago
[23:50] Speaker 12: in Alabama and there was a TV crew there, a
[23:54] Speaker 12: bunch of cameras and guys and the host, and I said, oh,
[23:57] Speaker 12: that's Ryan Gresham. I'm going to go introduce myself. So
[24:00] Speaker 12: I walked over to him and.
[24:01] Speaker 5: I said, hey, I love your work. It's great.
[24:03] Speaker 12: You know, your dad lives just two hours north of
[24:05] Speaker 12: me here in Idaho. And he looked at me and
[24:07] Speaker 12: he goes, my dad died three years ago. I said, oh,
[24:11] Speaker 12: your job.
[24:13] Speaker 4: Scott, Jim's son, Oh my gosh.
[24:16] Speaker 12: Yeah. He was very gracious about it, and he said,
[24:21] Speaker 12: y'all were doing great work. And you know, of course
[24:23] Speaker 12: I love all the shows. But yeah, that was a
[24:25] Speaker 12: bit of confusion on my part.
[24:27] Speaker 11: Yeah.
[24:27] Speaker 4: John does a great job carrying on a worker of
[24:29] Speaker 4: his dad, Jim Scott, who just did such a terrific job.
[24:32] Speaker 4: What a professional.
[24:34] Speaker 12: Absolutely, y as does Ryan, carrying on your tradition. So yeah,
[24:38] Speaker 12: it's fathers and sons one after the other.
[24:41] Speaker 4: Well, there you go, and it will actually have a
[24:42] Speaker 4: little bit more father and son a little bit later
[24:44] Speaker 4: on the show today. Hey, great story though, I appreciate that, Ron,
[24:46] Speaker 4: thanks for passing that along. Yeah, as probably everybody, No,
[24:50] Speaker 4: it was just a listener to this. You know, my
[24:52] Speaker 4: dad was a very well known outdoor writer, gun writer,
[24:57] Speaker 4: television personality esp at ABC, the TV, on and on
[25:02] Speaker 4: and on at light Beer. You can't leave out the
[25:05] Speaker 4: all those commercials he did for light Beer. And of
[25:07] Speaker 4: course I grew up in that environment, if you will,
[25:11] Speaker 4: And it's interesting the things you'll learn when you don't
[25:15] Speaker 4: actually know you're learning stuff and an example, and it's
[25:20] Speaker 4: not a gun thing, although there were a lot of
[25:21] Speaker 4: gun things involved. But my dad was a very avid golfer.
[25:26] Speaker 4: Dad was actually a very good athlete baseball, football, basketball,
[25:32] Speaker 4: actually signed by the Chicago Cubs to play baseball and
[25:35] Speaker 4: decided not to. But so shooting golf. All of it
[25:39] Speaker 4: came very easily to him. We were out playing golf
[25:43] Speaker 4: one day and I was, I don't know, fourteen to
[25:47] Speaker 4: fifteen years old, just guessing. Dad played with a lot
[25:52] Speaker 4: of pros. He and Leisowno were pretty good friends, and
[25:59] Speaker 4: they went fishing out Mexico together and did stuff. And
[26:01] Speaker 4: I mean, Dad knew all these guys. He played at
[26:04] Speaker 4: the Crosby Tournament with being Crossby. He and being Crossby
[26:06] Speaker 4: were good buds. But we're playing golf and I hit
[26:10] Speaker 4: a bad shot and I slammed my club down into
[26:13] Speaker 4: the ground in a fit of anger, and he stops me.
[26:16] Speaker 4: He says, wait a minute, just a second, he says,
[26:20] Speaker 4: let me just tell you something now. Lee Trevino, for
[26:24] Speaker 4: those who may not know it, was one of the
[26:26] Speaker 4: best professional golfers of all time. He won six major championships,
[26:31] Speaker 4: didn't win the Masters, but he won the other three twice.
[26:34] Speaker 4: Each time, Dad says, Lee, Trevino hits six hundred balls
[26:40] Speaker 4: a day, and he still hits bad shots. He says,
[26:45] Speaker 4: you never practice. What makes you think you're not going
[26:49] Speaker 4: to hit a bad shot out here? It was one
[26:52] Speaker 4: of those epiphany moments like, oh yeah, that makes sense,
[27:00] Speaker 4: and you know it applied to so many things. It's like, okay,
[27:04] Speaker 4: get control of yourself, youngster. You know, this is having
[27:08] Speaker 4: an anger fit out here is self indulgent and you
[27:13] Speaker 4: have no right to do that. Not only that, you
[27:16] Speaker 4: have no right to inflict that upon everybody else around you.
[27:19] Speaker 4: So it's just one of those things that you go, huh,
[27:23] Speaker 4: I learned that one, and it's stuck with me. And
[27:25] Speaker 4: thanks Dad, I appreciate you passing that along. Some great stories,
[27:29] Speaker 4: I mean, the stories about Trevino, about oh jeez, I
[27:36] Speaker 4: could go on and on. You know what the interesting
[27:38] Speaker 4: part was for me that when my dad went out
[27:43] Speaker 4: on to play tournaments with pros, and he played a
[27:46] Speaker 4: lot of pro ams, he was looking at these guys
[27:50] Speaker 4: and they were big deal, they were the professional golfers
[27:54] Speaker 4: and he really wanted to meet them and hang around
[27:56] Speaker 4: with them and all. And then he showed up out there.
[28:01] Speaker 4: About half of them are avid fishermen and hunters, and
[28:05] Speaker 4: they wanted to see Gritz Greshen, so they came over
[28:08] Speaker 4: and wanted to talk to him. So it was just
[28:10] Speaker 4: the funniest deal of seeing this thing transpire back and forth.
[28:14] Speaker 4: So this kind of a funny deal. Yeah, growing up
[28:19] Speaker 4: the son of Grits, which I guess was a thing.
[28:25] Speaker 4: I got to shoot a lot of different guns, and
[28:28] Speaker 4: I remember when the forty one Magnum came out. Not
[28:32] Speaker 4: long after that, we got a Smith and Western model
[28:35] Speaker 4: fifty seven six inch barrel, very nice revolver. I still
[28:39] Speaker 4: have that very same revolver, and we were teaking around
[28:42] Speaker 4: and we decided to put a scope on it for
[28:44] Speaker 4: handgun hunting. This was very early on and handgun hunting
[28:49] Speaker 4: and putting scopes on revolvers. And I took it out
[28:53] Speaker 4: to our local gravel bit where we shot. And I
[28:56] Speaker 4: think I was probably fifteen to sixteenth at the time
[28:59] Speaker 4: that I myself drove out there, and I remember clearly
[29:03] Speaker 4: taking a sitting position, got my elbows rested on my knees,
[29:09] Speaker 4: got this revolver, shooting the forty one Magnum, shooting the
[29:12] Speaker 4: big loads in it because it came in two different
[29:14] Speaker 4: types of loads and got all zeroed in. I think
[29:18] Speaker 4: I got one shot off and then the next one
[29:20] Speaker 4: shooting his single action. When I shot, I noticed the
[29:25] Speaker 4: scope flying past my ear and over my shoulder. Yeah,
[29:30] Speaker 4: as I say, the scope mounts were not that good
[29:32] Speaker 4: back then, just one of those things that happens. Go oh, okay,
[29:37] Speaker 4: I guess we're we going back to the shop and
[29:39] Speaker 4: figured out what we can do about that. But I
[29:41] Speaker 4: do love the forty one magnum is. It is tons
[29:44] Speaker 4: of fun. Let's let's pick up Phil online three out
[29:49] Speaker 4: of Rugue River, Oregon where they have some really good beer. Phil.
[29:55] Speaker 13: Well, yes they do, and I've got a couple of
[29:58] Speaker 13: Dad stories real quick. That Gulf reference was I was
[30:02] Speaker 13: about the same age as you when you. I was
[30:04] Speaker 13: playing golf with my dad and I hit a bad shot,
[30:08] Speaker 13: but I actually kind of wrapped my club around the tree,
[30:12] Speaker 13: and he goes, if you ever act like that on
[30:13] Speaker 13: the golf course again, I will never golf with you.
[30:17] Speaker 12: And so I learned another valuable lesson right there.
[30:21] Speaker 4: Well, exactly, you're right. I'm sorry, You're not allowed to
[30:24] Speaker 4: be self indulgent like that. This is a place where
[30:26] Speaker 4: you're supposed to be able to control your emotions, and
[30:29] Speaker 4: that kind of goes through that life, doesn't it. Yes, sir.
[30:32] Speaker 13: But my other little quick story was I grew up
[30:34] Speaker 13: in do Boys, Wyoming and he used to do hunting
[30:39] Speaker 13: guide trips. He would set up he would do the
[30:42] Speaker 13: pack mules and the horses and set up the tents
[30:45] Speaker 13: and everything. And he had this guy from New York
[30:48] Speaker 13: with him, and he said that, how much you want
[30:51] Speaker 13: to bet I can shoot that bald eagle off that
[30:53] Speaker 13: tree over there while they were out hunting, and my
[30:56] Speaker 13: dad pulled out his three fifty seventy. He goes, how
[30:58] Speaker 13: much do you want to bet I can shoot you
[30:59] Speaker 13: right off the back of that horse.
[31:04] Speaker 4: As we want to say he explained it to him.
[31:08] Speaker 13: Yes, sir, So that's my two dad stories about guns.
[31:12] Speaker 4: I love it is your dad's still around, no, sir, Yeah,
[31:16] Speaker 4: mine either. And I had a thought this morning, and
[31:19] Speaker 4: I A'll share it with you. It's a kind of
[31:21] Speaker 4: personal deal. I was thinking, you know, Dad, I wish
[31:24] Speaker 4: you were still here so I could thank you for
[31:27] Speaker 4: the things that I didn't really appreciate at the time,
[31:33] Speaker 4: you know what I mean.
[31:35] Speaker 13: Yeah, we all thought we knew everything, didn't we.
[31:37] Speaker 4: Yeah, And you know it's like Dad's did all these
[31:40] Speaker 4: things for us that we kind of took for granted
[31:43] Speaker 4: just because that's what Dad's did, and we were, you know,
[31:46] Speaker 4: we got away with stuff, and they allowed us to
[31:48] Speaker 4: get away with stuff. And I'd like to be able
[31:50] Speaker 4: to go back and say, you know, I'm looking back
[31:52] Speaker 4: now and I understand all the things you did and
[31:54] Speaker 4: all the things you let me get away with, and
[31:56] Speaker 4: the lessons that you taught me that I just didn't
[31:58] Speaker 4: understand and didn't appreciate it the time.
[32:01] Speaker 13: Yeah. And like you always said about the guns that
[32:04] Speaker 13: get hand me down from your dad before they passed.
[32:07] Speaker 5: Yeah, well I called you last.
[32:08] Speaker 11: Week and I got a forty five ninety with the
[32:11] Speaker 11: octagon barrel, forty five seventy, the thirty thirty, and the
[32:15] Speaker 11: twenty two with the micro groove barrel.
[32:19] Speaker 13: But yeah, so give little way before you die.
[32:23] Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, that the great point. Thanks to the call star.
[32:26] Speaker 4: I appreciate that. Yeah, And of course, along with this
[32:28] Speaker 4: whole thing is if your dad's still around, call him,
[32:33] Speaker 4: talk to him like real talk, not just superficial talk.
[32:36] Speaker 4: Hey appreciate that. You know a lot of times you
[32:39] Speaker 4: can start the conversation with do you remember the time.
[32:42] Speaker 4: It's a really great conversation starter. If you've got not
[32:47] Speaker 4: just dads, but somebody in your life, family member or whatever,
[32:50] Speaker 4: who maybe you've lost contact with, you've not talked with
[32:54] Speaker 4: for a while, talk to this person for whatever reason.
[32:58] Speaker 4: You know, disagreements whatever still happens. Usually it's really important
[33:03] Speaker 4: at the time, and later on you're thinking that wasn't important.
[33:05] Speaker 4: But I'm still holding on at the grudge for whatever reason.
[33:08] Speaker 4: That's silly, and now you don't know exactly how to
[33:13] Speaker 4: break back in. And I love that idea of just
[33:18] Speaker 4: calling up to say, you know, I was remembering the
[33:21] Speaker 4: time when we whatever it was, you know, we were
[33:25] Speaker 4: in the canoe and it turned over. You remember that thing,
[33:28] Speaker 4: and you're off of the races and you've broken through
[33:31] Speaker 4: and you know you're having the conversation again. It's a family.
[33:35] Speaker 4: It's too important to let it get away from you.
[33:37] Speaker 4: So just you know, food's for thought for you there.
[33:40] Speaker 4: I wanted to I'm going to bounce all over the
[33:42] Speaker 4: place here today. So I mean, basically we're open lines.
[33:45] Speaker 4: If there's something on your mind, a question, you got
[33:47] Speaker 4: something you want to talk about biomes is to give
[33:49] Speaker 4: me a call, because I'm going to be pretty scattered
[33:52] Speaker 4: as it is. I was listening to Mark Smith, who
[33:57] Speaker 4: we had on last half hour, and he's I said
[34:00] Speaker 4: something in one of his videos. He mentioned the Overton window,
[34:03] Speaker 4: and I'd heard about that before, and it sounded very
[34:05] Speaker 4: geeky and policy wonk ish and all of that. So
[34:09] Speaker 4: I went and looked it up just to find out
[34:11] Speaker 4: what he's talking about. And then I thought, oh, I've
[34:13] Speaker 4: been talking about that for years. I just didn't know
[34:15] Speaker 4: what that was. The Overton window is it's an idea
[34:22] Speaker 4: that something is politically possible only if it is in
[34:28] Speaker 4: the mainstream. And I'm boiling this down and say it
[34:32] Speaker 4: a different way than when you look it up. But
[34:36] Speaker 4: the idea is the Overton window. Think of this window
[34:39] Speaker 4: of things that the public accepts that they say, okay,
[34:42] Speaker 4: this is acceptable. Well that window can expand or contract
[34:47] Speaker 4: or move around. Let's apply that idea to guns. Fifty
[34:53] Speaker 4: years ago, it was not acceptable in the public mind
[34:59] Speaker 4: to carry a gun concealed for self protection. Just wasn't.
[35:04] Speaker 4: And now it's legal in every state. Well, that has
[35:09] Speaker 4: fallen within the Overton window. The point of this, you
[35:14] Speaker 4: knew how to finally get to that. The point of
[35:17] Speaker 4: this is if you want something to be acted upon
[35:22] Speaker 4: favorably for us, when it comes to guns, you need
[35:27] Speaker 4: to move it into this window. It needs to become
[35:30] Speaker 4: politically acceptable, publicly acceptable, not necessarily popular. That's a different thing.
[35:39] Speaker 4: And so I was reading about this and somebody said, well,
[35:41] Speaker 4: there are these six different levels, if you will, or
[35:45] Speaker 4: six degrees of acceptance. You start off with unthinkable, Well,
[35:49] Speaker 4: that thing's just unthinkable, and then radical, well it's thinkab well,
[35:53] Speaker 4: what it's pretty radical, And then you got acceptable. Okay, yeah,
[35:57] Speaker 4: I could accept that, and then after that sensible, well
[36:01] Speaker 4: that's a sensible thing to do, and then becomes popular.
[36:05] Speaker 4: Let's you know, everybody knows that that's popular. And after
[36:08] Speaker 4: that it becomes policy. It's just that's what we do,
[36:12] Speaker 4: and that's official policy. And so I often talk about
[36:16] Speaker 4: us doing things to make things acceptable, to bring them
[36:26] Speaker 4: into focus for the public, talking about guns, talking about
[36:31] Speaker 4: the fact that you carry a gun, making or helping
[36:36] Speaker 4: the helplic understand that normal regular people, people like their neighbors,
[36:39] Speaker 4: people like their doctors and dentists and lawyers and their friends,
[36:44] Speaker 4: have guns, own guns, shoot guns, responsibly safely. Why do
[36:51] Speaker 4: you think we've been talking for all these decades about
[36:53] Speaker 4: one of the best ways to help gun rights is
[36:57] Speaker 4: to invite somebody out to the rains with you. They
[37:02] Speaker 4: go to the range, they see that you're safe. You
[37:06] Speaker 4: set it up so there's not a heavy recoiling gun,
[37:08] Speaker 4: something that's easy to shoot. You bring the targets up
[37:12] Speaker 4: close to make sure they're going to be successful, and
[37:15] Speaker 4: you make sure they have fun. At the end of that.
[37:19] Speaker 4: They cannot It is impossible. They cannot think, oh, those
[37:26] Speaker 4: people with guns. You know why, because now they are
[37:29] Speaker 4: one of those people with guns. Now they are one
[37:32] Speaker 4: of those people that went out and shot guns and
[37:34] Speaker 4: had fun. Typically, the reaction is, wow, that was a
[37:37] Speaker 4: lot more fun than I thought it was going to be.
[37:39] Speaker 4: Can I do it again? Can I shoot this again? Yeah?
[37:41] Speaker 4: You bet. We'll keep loading bags for you. We'll take
[37:44] Speaker 4: care of that. You keep shooting. We're gonna have some
[37:46] Speaker 4: fun out here. You have moved for that person. You've
[37:51] Speaker 4: moved this overton window, this window of accessibility or acceptability.
[37:58] Speaker 4: And as we do this with hundreds and thousands of
[38:01] Speaker 4: hundred thousands of people and millions of people now who
[38:04] Speaker 4: have to steal carry permits, who are buying guns for
[38:06] Speaker 4: self protection. More things become possible with policy policy being
[38:15] Speaker 4: laws that are written, laws that are passed. But also,
[38:19] Speaker 4: and you could argue that it shouldn't be this way,
[38:21] Speaker 4: that court should just rule along what the law is,
[38:23] Speaker 4: but what's acceptable to the public definitely has an impact
[38:29] Speaker 4: on what happens in courts, in court decisions. And so
[38:35] Speaker 4: as we bring more guns and gun activities, semi automatics,
[38:41] Speaker 4: for instance, becomes one where people say, well, what are
[38:44] Speaker 4: those all about? Oh, gosh, you's that? Oh that's fun. Oh,
[38:48] Speaker 4: I might like to get one of those. You've moved them,
[38:51] Speaker 4: and you've moved public opinion. And by moving public opinion,
[38:55] Speaker 4: and it's not enough to say I have the Second Amendment. Now,
[38:58] Speaker 4: you've got to have public opinion culture behind you that
[39:01] Speaker 4: if you do, you can keep winning. We can keep winning,
[39:05] Speaker 4: simple as that. All right. Our number here is eighty
[39:07] Speaker 4: six six Talk Gun. Of course you can go be
[39:09] Speaker 4: a Tom talk gun and we're sharing our father's day story.
[39:12] Speaker 4: So you're welcome to way in with those. We love
[39:16] Speaker 4: to hear those. I'm Tom Gresham. We'll be right back,
[39:26] Speaker 4: you know. Out in the Commonwealth of Virginia. State of Virginia,
[39:30] Speaker 4: they've got a gunman that goes into fact July one,
[39:33] Speaker 4: barring a court intervening. Same in Rhode Island. So semi
[39:39] Speaker 4: automatic rifles are fifteen's magazines that hold more than ten
[39:44] Speaker 4: rounds or fifteen rounds whichever state you're in, are going
[39:47] Speaker 4: to be banned. People are rushing to gun stores to
[39:51] Speaker 4: buy things. And I've just caught this promotion from Arsenal Inc.
[39:56] Speaker 4: That make a whole line of AK variants, which are
[39:59] Speaker 4: really cool guns, and they said, hey, here's what we're
[40:01] Speaker 4: going to do. Now. You got to listen up because
[40:03] Speaker 4: if you're in these states, you got to act on
[40:04] Speaker 4: this immediately when you hear this, if you want to
[40:06] Speaker 4: do this thing. The cutoff on this is nine am
[40:10] Speaker 4: Pacific time tomorrow, June twenty two, nine am Pacific time,
[40:15] Speaker 4: June twenty two. But up until that point they will
[40:18] Speaker 4: take orders from Virginia and Rhode Island residents. They've got
[40:21] Speaker 4: a twenty percent discount if you're in Rhode Island or Virginia,
[40:25] Speaker 4: and they said if you could order before nine o'clock
[40:29] Speaker 4: am Pacific time tomorrow, Monday the twenty second, they will
[40:34] Speaker 4: be able to get your order out. After that, they're
[40:37] Speaker 4: not going to ship anything because then they're liable to
[40:41] Speaker 4: run smack dab into this gun band that goes into
[40:44] Speaker 4: effect on July the first. Kudos to Arsenal. A number
[40:49] Speaker 4: of other companies have done similar things, And if you're
[40:51] Speaker 4: in those states, yes, we're going to try to beat
[40:55] Speaker 4: it back, and probably will be able to beat it
[40:57] Speaker 4: back these gun bands. But you know what doesn't hurt
[41:02] Speaker 4: to go in buy the guns and the magazines, especially
[41:06] Speaker 4: the magazines. I remember when it looked like they were
[41:11] Speaker 4: gonna ban standing capacity magazines on a national basis. I
[41:15] Speaker 4: went out and bought one hundred AR mags, just bottom,
[41:18] Speaker 4: and then later on they were going to do it again,
[41:19] Speaker 4: so I bought another hundred. People go, you don't really
[41:22] Speaker 4: have two hundred, Yes, I really have two hundred r mags.
[41:26] Speaker 4: And then of course you get the well, what does
[41:28] Speaker 4: anybody need that I would just shut up. We're not
[41:30] Speaker 4: gonna even have that conversation. Good lord. Oh, by the way,

[43:18] Speaker 4: it down and you don't have to be in the business,
[43:21] Speaker 4: but just passing down this love of the shooting sports,
[43:25] Speaker 4: the love of freedom, the love of firearms, and to
[43:29] Speaker 4: break through the difficulty of becoming a good shot and
[43:32] Speaker 4: the challenge and the joy of working on that and
[43:35] Speaker 4: working to become a better shot or working to be
[43:38] Speaker 4: a better hunter. So we'll talk about that. Also, I'll
[43:41] Speaker 4: share my story with a friend of mine and lessons
[43:44] Speaker 4: learning from which he had a mid air collision and
[43:48] Speaker 4: the takeaway there, Yeah, it's going to make sense to you.
[43:50] Speaker 4: There are crossovers to create firearms and what we learn
[43:53] Speaker 4: from that. We'll be right back with more gun talk.
