This week in our rewatch of The X-Files, Dash & Melz (long-time fans and couple) and Angel (first-time watcher, Dash's mom) are dusting off an old hidden floppy disk and updating our résumés for season one, episode six: Shadows! We're talking workplace tension, a bipolar boss that bears a striking resemblance to Herman Munster, and an early spotting of our boy Tom Braidwood. We also figure out why Scully is always missing out on cool paranormal stuff - spoiler, it's her tiny little legs. Along the way, we're being haunted by impossible ladder situations, breaking into an impromptu X-Files-themed rendition of the Fresh Prince theme, and circling back to the fact that Mulder would totally ask if you've got games on your phone. If you're reading this, you're a friend. Questions, suggestions, hypnoregressions? Shoot us an email at GenXFilesPod@gmail.com.

## Transcript

[0:00] Welcome to Gen. X-Files, the only podcast named
[0:03] that that's exclusively about The X-Files.
[0:07] I'm Angel and this is always my first watch.
[0:12] I'm Dash and this is my third or fourth watch depending.
[0:16] And I'm Mel's and same as Dash 3rd or 4th.
[0:19] And if you're listening, I want to believe you're a friend.
[0:23] And tonight we're finding out that that creepy boss who used
[0:27] to flirt with you was most likely just protecting you from
[0:30] terrorism. How you guys doing?
[0:50] Doing pretty good. Doing pretty good.
[0:52] How are you doing, Mel? I'm doing great.
[0:55] The weather is wonderful. I like it when it gets cool when
[0:58] it's supposed to be hot, because it's not going to last that way
[1:01] for long. Yeah, it's it's in that sweet
[1:06] spot right now where it's kind of cold in the morning and kind
[1:09] of hotter as the day goes on. But pretty soon it's going to be
[1:12] extremely face meltingly hot as soon as you step out the door
[1:16] 'cause we live in Georgia. Yes, and it's a lot of humidity.
[1:20] And it will just rain randomly out of nowhere sometimes,
[1:23] sometimes a week. Yeah.
[1:25] And and when it especially before or after it rains, like
[1:28] with the humidity, it feels like you're just kind of walking
[1:31] through a never ending sheet. It's real.
[1:34] Yeah. Like it's weird.
[1:37] I hate. Waterfall, but it's not raining.
[1:41] Yeah, it's kind of like walking through a waterfall you can't
[1:43] see. It's awful.
[1:45] Yeah, muggy. There's muggier states.
[1:49] Yeah, Florida is horrible. Oh my God, I couldn't live
[1:52] there. Louisiana's got to be bad, too.
[1:54] Yeah, down by the body. Speaking of Gators.
[1:57] Speaking of Gate. Speaking of Gators, yeah, I did.
[1:59] So that you'll figure it out in a second.
[2:02] That'll make sense in a second. Oh, alright.
[2:05] Talking about Florida. No, not talking about Florida
[2:09] specifically, but they do have the Florida Gators, Yeah.
[2:12] So what's been keeping you guys up at night?
[2:17] I watched the wrestling over the weekend and Oh my gosh, one of
[2:25] the guys retired and I'm trying to think of what his name is.
[2:30] Braun. Brock Lesnar.
[2:33] Brock Lesnar. Yeah.
[2:36] I'm so glad you can remember. The big meathead looking guy.
[2:39] Yeah, he retired last night. Wow, I didn't know that.
[2:43] And Ray said Oh my God. And Ray was all teary eyed.
[2:46] Oh, really? Yes.
[2:48] Oh man. Wow, I don't think I can picture
[2:53] Reagan and teary eyed. I've seen him cry, but he's not
[2:55] one of those guys that cries. Yeah.
[2:59] Speaking of now I have two things to get back to.
[3:02] But Speaking of crying, today I finally finished editing the
[3:08] episode 0 and as we're recording this, I'm actually in the middle
[3:12] of editing the first episode. And when I got done with the
[3:15] zero episode, I cried. I couldn't help it.
[3:18] I was so happy and proud. He.
[3:20] Cried. He gave like, baby, he's like,
[3:22] he was crying. I was like, what is it?
[3:24] He gave me a big hug and he was just crying like what?
[3:27] You know, trying to be nice and like pat your bag and stuff, but
[3:30] I didn't know what the fuck you were crying for.
[3:33] And he's like, I finished it. I was like, oh.
[3:36] I put the. I mean, people listening to this
[3:39] now, if they listen to all of it, our friends know that we put
[3:43] we made this at the end and when I put that on and.
[3:47] You got it all lined up and it worked right and stuff.
[3:50] Yeah, when I got that on there and and I listened to the just
[3:54] the ending of it, the music fade in and then fade out, and then
[3:57] there's that beat of silence and then you hear we made this from
[4:00] all three of us. It was just like, oh, in my
[4:03] soul. It was like, oh, it's done now,
[4:05] It's done now. Yes, It was so wonderful.
[4:08] Now, if people are listening to this, unless this is their first
[4:11] episode, which I mean, it would be a strange one to start with,
[4:14] but then they already have heard that these episodes that you're
[4:17] talking about, which is not not like Inception, but it's very
[4:22] strange. It's a very.
[4:23] Weird loop, kind of like a aura Boris that keeps getting
[4:26] smaller. I guess a Fibonacci sequence
[4:29] kind of, but in reverse. Aura Boris with Moralis.
[4:33] Yeah, Aura Boris with Cialis. Oh my God.
[4:41] But yeah, it's also, as we record this, it's 4/20.
[4:44] My mom does not partake, but we do, so there's that.
[4:50] So. We're gonna celebrate today by
[4:52] doing that, yeah. Quite a bit gonna watch some.
[4:55] I really like road trip movies, or at least I really like used
[4:59] to. And so I've never seen Thelma
[5:01] and Louise. And we're gonna watch Thelma and
[5:05] Louise today. It's.
[5:06] So good and. Then I think.
[5:09] And I, I got to point this out because I felt bad about it.
[5:12] I thought everybody knew what happens at the end of Thelma and
[5:15] Louise, you know? And I just rattled off what
[5:17] happens. And Mel's was like, what the
[5:19] fuck? I was like, oh.
[5:21] No, I literally, it was so funny.
[5:23] He was like, yeah, we're going to watch this.
[5:24] He's like, yeah, I've never seen it.
[5:25] It should be full. And I was like, I was literally
[5:27] about to say, yeah, me too. I've never seen it.
[5:32] This will be nice. And before I had a chance to
[5:33] start that sentence, he's like, yeah, spoiler alert for anyone
[5:37] listening. He was like, yeah, they jump off
[5:41] the road. They fly off a bridge at the end
[5:44] of their car, a Cliff at the end, whatever.
[5:46] I don't want to repeat it. They kill themselves at the end,
[5:50] apparently. Maybe it's like that scene in
[5:53] Pee Wee Herman where their cars are convertible and the fabric
[5:57] roof like helps them float down. Yeah.
[6:01] I know another great road trip movie, Pee Wee Herman's Big
[6:04] Adventure. I wouldn't recommend it, but he
[6:07] would. It's so good the Remember the
[6:08] Alamo joke alone is worth the price of admission.
[6:13] But besides that, what's been keeping?
[6:16] What's anything else been keeping you up at night, Mom?
[6:19] No, just that that's the only thing I can think of right now.
[6:22] What about you, Mel? So I could go either way.
[6:25] Well, what did we see in theaters last week?
[6:28] Faces of Death, but we already talked about that last episode.
[6:31] OK, OK. I wasn't sure if we I can't
[6:33] always. Lose track.
[6:34] I know because we. Go to the drive insurance and
[6:38] the Movies Now, but we definitely caught up on some
[6:40] more small. Though yes, we watched some.
[6:41] More small and that always. That always is good.
[6:44] Always playing battlefield. I got hit over 1000 hours this
[6:47] week. I literally speaking about
[6:49] Inception, I literally played her a part of the episode where
[6:53] she said she was going to be playing Battlefield as she was
[6:56] playing Battlefield. Yeah, he was showing.
[6:58] He was like letting me hear the quality of the sound and stuff
[7:01] like that. He had edited or whatever and it
[7:03] was the part where I say I'm going to play Battlefield 6 and
[7:06] I'm literally have the controller in my head playing
[7:08] Battlefield 6 while I'm listening to.
[7:09] It yeah, that first, that first episode is not the best audio
[7:13] quality, but it's still, there's so much, there's just so much
[7:18] good examples of our chemistry and camaraderie in it that we're
[7:22] just going to release it. I mean, I, I, I use the same mic
[7:27] to record solo podcast appearances as I used to record
[7:30] that first episode. So I don't know if it'd be that
[7:33] much better. But anything else?
[7:39] What about did we do anything this weekend?
[7:44] Oh, yeah, yeah, sorry, I'm sorry.
[7:46] I got a story, I forgot about it.
[7:51] I babysat one of my grandpups for the first time.
[7:55] This. Weekend.
[7:56] Oh yeah, she did. She babysat for us.
[7:59] Babysat Foxy. And the reason that she babysat
[8:02] is the reason what, what I was about to tell you guys about was
[8:05] we went to the midnight concert on Saturday night, 'cause it's
[8:09] Monday now, right? Yeah.
[8:11] Oh my God, it was so much fun. The, the, the, what do you call
[8:16] it? The the big screen and the.
[8:19] The visuals for the concert were really impressively done, I mean
[8:23] just fantastic incorporation of just so many synth wave themes
[8:29] but also just like creative ways to display the lyrics like as
[8:34] the songs playing and stuff. The vibes were Immaculate.
[8:39] Oh yeah, it was such a nice just everything.
[8:42] I mean, as always with any, I don't know how many of you guys
[8:45] go to concerts at all, but with any concert venue, good God, all
[8:48] the prices are so bad. Like literally like $15.00 for a
[8:53] beer type stuff. Yeah, like ridiculous.
[8:55] We didn't drink while we were there, but since it's now
[9:00] officially, we can start it with your turn.
[9:03] You can talk about what we did before the concert.
[9:06] Oh my God, what did we? Hold on, hold on, hold on.
[9:11] Wait, wait, wait. Oh my God, what the hell did we
[9:13] do before the concert? Where did we go?
[9:17] Oh yes. Oh, I can't believe you forgot.
[9:20] You know what's been keeping me up at night there?
[9:22] The unbelieving need to taste a Vesper martini because I am a
[9:28] huge James Bond fan and I found out that in downtown Atlanta
[9:32] they have a bar called Vesper and they do make a Vespa martini
[9:39] not with Lolette Blanc but with a similar white wine because
[9:43] Lolette Blanc is like expensive and specific.
[9:46] But even then, the drink wasn't cheap.
[9:48] It was $717.00 for a little. Yeah, yeah, a little martini
[9:53] glass, but I got. A.
[9:55] Friends, I will tell you, I'm not a alcohol drinker and this
[9:59] was very strong, but I I still enjoyed it.
[10:04] It was a really cool moment to get to experience that after
[10:07] being a James Bond fan for 22 years, so.
[10:10] Is there a way to post pictures with a podcast?
[10:14] Not really, I mean I'm sure there is.
[10:16] Like we could post a link in the description that's clickable so.
[10:19] Yeah, and we can post some of the pictures of us holding the
[10:23] martinis in the place or whatever.
[10:26] I would like for the listeners to just imagine it.
[10:28] Maybe you can imagine me wearing like an evil Knievel outfit and
[10:32] I'm doing a handless cartwheel through a flaming hoop and
[10:36] drinking at the same time, which is dangerous because alcohol is
[10:38] flammable. But I'm a badass, so you can
[10:40] imagine that. I had a drink called.
[10:42] Was it the Pussy Galore that I chose right?
[10:45] No, you had the was it? No, you didn't have the Pussy
[10:48] Galore. You had the the Casino Royale.
[10:51] Oh, duh. Yeah, I got the Casino Royale.
[10:55] I have the menu right in front of me.
[10:56] The best Berlin is Aviation Gin, Tito's Vodka, Cochi Americano
[11:01] chilled and served up, and the Casino Royale is black Raspberry
[11:05] liqueur, Aviation Gin Champagne, chilled and served up.
[11:09] Yeah, and whoo, I mean, if you have a if you have a friend that
[11:14] you know that makes like faces whenever they drink alcohol,
[11:17] that's me every single time I take a sip of alcohol.
[11:20] Other than that, yes, seeing the midnight and that's about it
[11:25] really. I mean, I've been playing skate
[11:27] more a little bit, but so this aired on October 22nd, 1993.
[11:37] Mom, I know you know absolutely the exact thing you were doing
[11:41] on October 22nd, 1993. A week before Halloween.
[11:45] I was making sure that you had the tiniest but nicest little
[11:53] pumpkin to go with your pumpkin outfit, but not it wasn't a bag.
[11:58] It was shaped like a pumpkin in plastic.
[12:02] Is it that you can't that they put the candy?
[12:05] In Oh, OK, a little plastic pumpkin thing.
[12:07] What? You know what you keep?
[12:08] I don't think you've mentioned it.
[12:09] What day of the week did it air? Friday.
[12:13] Fridays. It aired on Friday nights.
[12:15] Now you can. Remember, and it's Friday, you
[12:17] were in love. Yes.
[12:20] Monday. I don't know what he says about
[12:23] those days. I love the cure, but I don't
[12:25] remember the specific Thursday, just it doesn't work for me.
[12:30] What does he say? I don't know.
[12:31] Anyway, all the days don't work for him except for Friday.
[12:35] Friday he's in love. That's.
[12:38] Actually, good to know now that when when you tell the date of
[12:41] Friday. Yeah.
[12:42] What was? I doing on a Friday.
[12:44] Was this the Halloween? It wasn't.
[12:47] I don't think it was my first Halloween, but there was a
[12:49] Halloween where some mean kids stole my candy, wasn't there?
[12:53] Yes, you were about, I wanna say 4 maybe.
[12:59] Yeah. Yeah, and it pissed me off and I
[13:03] couldn't run after him either because we were on the, no
[13:08] lights were on this particular part of the road and I couldn't
[13:11] leave my little kid and I couldn't pick him up and run
[13:14] with him either. You know, I probably would have
[13:16] fallen. But if you would have caught up
[13:18] to him, you were kicked their ass.
[13:19] I sure would. I wouldn't have gave a shit.
[13:21] You would have. Got his candy back and their
[13:24] candy, yeah. Bill, y'all are going to be laid
[13:28] up in the House watching the X1, but do you?
[13:30] Remember, I know you probably don't remember this, but family
[13:34] members came to the house and gave you candy out of their
[13:39] buck, out of their own candy. But really?
[13:42] Yeah, I don't remember that. I mean I was 4 so.
[13:45] It was Misty and Brianne and whoever else they were with.
[13:49] Everybody gave you a handful of their candy.
[13:51] Oh, I was going to say, did you? I was going to ask if you went
[13:54] and just bought him a bag of candy or something.
[13:56] No 'cause I'd feel bad. I wouldn't but that that works.
[14:00] Your your dad was at home giving out the candy, you know, so he
[14:03] wasn't with us. He was pissed when he heard too
[14:07] wasn't. He Oh yeah, where's a little
[14:09] some bitches? My dad.
[14:13] My dad used to fuck around with nunchucks.
[14:16] I could. I just had an image of him
[14:18] chasing down some kids, twirling some nunchucks over his head
[14:22] like a cowboy does a lasso. Yep, that's.
[14:27] Him. Oh God, he's not that person.
[14:30] He just says the same thing again.
[14:31] I know. We do that.
[14:33] Yeah, so October 22nd, 1993. Written by series regulars James
[14:40] Wong and Glenn Morgan. They wrote quite a few, did a
[14:44] couple of different things throughout the years and
[14:47] directed by Oh God, I just had it up it.
[14:52] Should be in your history. Michael Cattlemen, that's what
[14:54] it was. Michael Cattlemen.
[14:56] And speaking about Gators, this is the director of the 2007
[15:02] alligator horror movie Primeval. Oh, OK, OK, yeah.
[15:08] And nine days. Was it 9 days?
[15:12] It might have been 8 days, like a couple of like.
[15:15] The week after this episode of his aired, he also released a
[15:21] drama based on a true story about note a woman fighting for
[15:25] custody of her grandson with Down syndrome called No Child of
[15:28] Mine. They're on hallow.
[15:30] Halloween. Yeah, I guess, I guess so.
[15:32] Seems. Like a weird day for that kind
[15:34] of. OK, it does say Halloween.
[15:36] There is. There is there, Is there a
[15:38] horror element to it or is it just a drama, television drama
[15:44] film? OK.
[15:45] Yeah, true story. I don't know if I would have
[15:48] chose to air that on CBS on Halloween night 1993, but you
[15:54] know, whatever. I mean, I'm just joking into
[15:57] Halloween because like, that is like a straightforward drama.
[16:01] This is like a supernatural, like a thriller, I guess, a
[16:06] political thriller even maybe. And like Primeval is like a
[16:10] creature movie. So this guy has like no fucking
[16:13] like, yeah, he's just like, is there money involved all?
[16:17] Right, I'll take it you. Don't have a style, but yeah,
[16:23] that's that's this episode. And what else am I supposed to
[16:26] ask you? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[16:28] One thing I wanted to bring up Mom, who did you think that
[16:31] Lauren, the main character, resembled anybody?
[16:34] Did you ever ever thought of she looks like?
[16:36] No, but are you going to say a relative?
[16:40] No, not at all. OK.
[16:41] I thought that Lauren looks. I thought she was very pretty.
[16:45] He's a very attractive actress. Does she look like a young Diane
[16:49] Lane? A little bit.
[16:51] Diane Lane. Who was that?
[16:55] Sorry, Diane. I don't think she's gonna
[16:57] listen. Played.
[16:58] The only thing I can think of is she played Cherry Valance and
[17:02] the Outsiders. Oh, OK, I see what you're
[17:06] talking about. Yeah, she kind of looks like
[17:08] her, doesn't she? She does, yeah.
[17:10] Yeah, there's a young and Mel said somebody, I forget who, you
[17:16] said she kind of look like Samuel Jackson.
[17:22] No, I can't think of her. I can't think of her name.
[17:26] I can't either. I we, we just had a discussion
[17:28] when we were watching the episode about who she looked
[17:30] like and. I didn't figure it out then.
[17:32] I'm at a loss for who it was now.
[17:34] Well, we didn't figure it out then.
[17:36] OK, the. Girl.
[17:37] The girl from Friday Night Lights came to mind, but I know.
[17:39] You'd say Minka Kelly about so many.
[17:41] She has one of them kinds of looks.
[17:43] She's very plain, but still pretty.
[17:47] Very like high school cheerleader, which is why she
[17:50] got the role as a high school cheerleader in Friday Night
[17:53] Lights. But we open up on the desk of 1
[17:58] Howard Graves and we can hear a woman sobbing and we see that
[18:02] we're at HTG Industrial Technologies and we goodness
[18:09] gracious, we see a picture of a man and we assume it's Howard
[18:13] Graves. He's meeting with like a bunch
[18:14] of presidents like Ronald Reagan and a couple of other ones.
[18:18] But we see a picture of Howard Graves with Bill Clinton, which
[18:23] in big 2026 is kinda. OK, you not want to separate.
[18:28] Yourself. Yeah, OK, OK.
[18:31] But in October of 93, when did all the stuff come out?
[18:36] Oh, I mean, it's not when it came out, it's when it was
[18:39] happening, which is probably back in 93.
[18:42] Yeah. I don't know if we need to check
[18:46] Howard Graves flight logs. Maybe.
[18:49] Hey, we're not, we're not getting political or anything.
[18:51] I just thought that was really funny, especially because at the
[18:54] time that I wrote this, there was I had there's, there's
[18:57] constantly stuff about the files going on.
[18:59] But yeah, there was something. And the other one was
[19:02] definitely, I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was Bush Senior.
[19:06] And then? The other one, The other one was
[19:09] someone that I definitely recognized as somebody, but I
[19:12] couldn't have told her who it. Was, yeah, but it was Reagan,
[19:14] Clinton and Bush. OK.
[19:16] That he was at least you. Could so you so you know so.
[19:18] This guy is connected. Yeah, connected.
[19:21] Powerful. Knows people.
[19:23] Government type stuff I assume. But another woman walks in on
[19:27] the the woman that's grieving and she calls her Lauren and
[19:31] asked her if she needs anything and Lauren says she's fine and
[19:35] that she doesn't really want to talk about it.
[19:37] Yeah, and she notices that she's crying.
[19:40] Yeah, she's just never known anyone who's killed themselves
[19:45] before. And this is when the woman hands
[19:49] her her paycheck, which, like, it's like, oh, I've never known
[19:52] anyone who committed suicide. And then she's like, well,
[19:54] here's some money, Here's some money.
[19:59] Does that make it better? Anyway, she tells her to go home
[20:03] and get some rest and the woman that hand her the paycheck exits
[20:07] and in the foreground as Lauren has her back turned, we see
[20:11] something move on the desk. It's a little placard that's a
[20:14] quote from Ben Franklin. Ben Benjamin Franklin that says
[20:19] 1. To no.
[20:21] No, you say I was gonna say it. With you. 1 today is worth 2
[20:26] tomorrow's, which is a really nothing saying is so funny like
[20:31] that's the bill, the bill. Hicks I I honestly, I feel
[20:34] really dumb. I.
[20:35] Almost said Bill Hicks, but I meant to say Benjamin.
[20:39] Oh my God, I almost said Benjamin Button.
[20:41] Benjamin Franklin is a dude's name.
[20:43] Good Lord. Benjamin Franklin, I'll be
[20:45] honest with you. What?
[20:46] What the fuck does this even mean?
[20:48] It's like if you do it today, it's better than putting it off.
[20:51] That's what it is. It's.
[20:52] Really, really poorly worth it. Don't procrastinate.
[20:56] Basically from Benjamin Franklin. 1 today is worth 2
[20:59] tomorrow, so to today has more value than the next ones.
[21:04] A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the Bush.
[21:07] You better keep them birds out of my Bush.
[21:09] Right. Yeah.
[21:11] But but then yesterday's. Pecker.
[21:14] Are yesterday's only worth half as much then?
[21:18] You'd think they'd be worth more in the in the context of the
[21:22] metaphor, I think they're worth double.
[21:25] They're the Daily Double is the yesterday.
[21:27] So there. So then there's no point in ever
[21:28] doing anything today. You should have done it
[21:30] yesterday, or you can do it tomorrow and remember.
[21:32] Any point to do it and remember? Yesterday's tomorrow is today,
[21:35] so technically. Today is yesterday.
[21:38] Who's on 1st? What's on 2nd?
[21:41] I don't know who's on 3rd, but Lauren turns around and she
[21:47] decides to take this little placard with her.
[21:50] I guess is like a memento to the late Howard Graves, her boss.
[21:55] And she's the next time we see her.
[21:58] She's at an ATM. She's at an ATM and she's
[22:01] accosted by two hoodlums. And hoodlums.
[22:06] And we watch the screen fade to black as we hear Lauren scream.
[22:10] And we open back up on 2 homeless people trying to find a
[22:13] place to sleep. The guy says he knows of 1 and
[22:16] he's like looking up at a window I guess.
[22:19] And he he has a girlfriend with him or maybe just his friend or
[22:22] whatever. But he lifts her up to try to
[22:23] pull down this ladder on a fire escape.
[22:27] And these two bodies fall down. Now the one, I guess it could
[22:31] have been like on the railing almost falling over and it fell
[22:35] over, but the one on the ladder, how the fuck did that happen?
[22:38] He's they pulled the ladder down and then he flops over.
[22:42] It doesn't make sense, Yeah. I don't understand.
[22:45] Like he would. There's no position.
[22:47] I tried to think of what position this man must be in up
[22:49] there. He's got to be like sitting with
[22:51] his legs. He's sitting straight up with
[22:53] his legs through the like ladder and then when she pulls it he
[22:57] like flops down and. His ankles catch.
[23:00] Yeah, what? It's very why would it be that?
[23:03] It's not a natural position to be in.
[23:05] It wouldn't make sense. When you're dead, you just, you
[23:08] don't, you fall, you don't go into a position like that.
[23:10] But whatever, it doesn't make any sense.
[23:13] And this causes the homeless people to run off into the night
[23:16] screaming. But we did notice Mel's and I
[23:19] when we were watching this. The woman gives a pretty good
[23:21] scream. She's like.
[23:23] But then the dude next year, he kind of goes, they couldn't have
[23:32] got a better take out that dude before they put this to like.
[23:35] You got to do more than that. Scare me.
[23:37] He's. Like, oh, I'm mildly exclaim it.
[23:42] I'm mildly surprised. Exclamatory.
[23:45] Yeah. And then we get the awesome
[23:48] credits, which we never skip. Ever.
[23:51] Fantastic. You don't skip them either,
[23:52] right? OK, good.
[23:55] And we open back up on a naval hospital in Bethesda, MD, and
[24:00] the agents, Mulder and Scully are being escorted because there
[24:03] are two other agents who never get named in this whole thing.
[24:06] You looked it up on the wiki and they do have names.
[24:08] Yeah, I don't remember where they are now.
[24:10] But I know they called her, they called the black agent Webster.
[24:14] And I think that's just because isn't that another?
[24:16] I'm almost sound like a fool. Isn't Webster another character?
[24:19] Another black character that's like, nerdy?
[24:23] Webster like from like the 80s or something?
[24:25] Yeah. He was on a sitcom, right?
[24:28] Yeah. I cannot remember the name of
[24:29] that sitcom. But whatever.
[24:31] Even if his name is Webster, it's never given to us in the
[24:34] episode whatsoever. It's just.
[24:36] That I am to be the like Indian woman's name was like Saunders.
[24:40] Yeah, Miss, miss something, Saunders.
[24:42] I don't remember my. First time I don't know where
[24:43] they got those names from because I watched this like very
[24:46] slowly as I took notes and I couldn't tell you what their
[24:49] names were. Maybe on the maybe on the
[24:51] paperwork that they had in their hand when you turn, when they
[24:53] turned it over, you could see a name on the fine print.
[24:56] While we're talking about these two unnamed people, that the the
[24:59] black agent's voice is just kind of crazy.
[25:02] Like he has a really nice voice. Yeah.
[25:05] It's on that like Morgan Freeman level type.
[25:07] Yeah. Yeah, yeah, Morgan Freeman
[25:09] level. There's like a few of those guys
[25:11] who have those voices and you kind of put people in the
[25:13] categories of them. Yeah, just like I just want to
[25:16] listen to you talk about my life like the guy that robbed.
[25:20] Your life, Yeah. The show was called Webster.
[25:25] OK. And it was the little, the white
[25:27] parents, the little black kid. And he was like a nerdy kid.
[25:29] Yeah. In the 80s, yeah, I knew it was
[25:31] in the 80s, yeah. But Robert Stack, Speaking of
[25:36] voices, the the guy that used to do unsolved mysteries.
[25:40] I would like, I would love for that guy to like narrate my
[25:43] life. Just like Dash open the fridge
[25:47] and saw that there was nothing to drink.
[25:50] I don't know. Slowly walked back into the
[25:52] living room, disappointed. I don't know what I can't do.
[25:55] His voice. He's.
[25:56] Got a inimitable voice? You can't do it.
[25:59] There's no way. But they they enter the autopsy
[26:04] room and there are three people inside that say Chief Blevins
[26:07] has assured the agents cooperation.
[26:11] And the two other agents, the black tall man and the shorter
[26:15] Indian woman, they say they're appreciative, especially given
[26:18] the late hour. And the autopsy woman pulls the
[26:22] sheet back on the table. Pathologist.
[26:25] Oh, she's a pathologist. That's what the IMDb said.
[26:27] Yeah, I looked up her name. There is no name.
[26:29] She's a pathologist. That's she pulls the sheet back
[26:32] and one of the guys from the cold open is lying there and his
[26:36] arm twitches like it moved like, yeah, like blew the flats on the
[26:40] table. And she says this is apparently
[26:43] due to them being exposed to high levels of electric charge.
[26:48] Their vital organs have failed, but their body temperatures
[26:52] haven't dropped as of yet. 808098.3.
[26:57] Yeah, 98 point. Three, and they've been dead for
[26:59] six hours. Yes, which is like not something
[27:02] that happens so, but the the way the other two agents are in the
[27:08] room, just constantly carefully looking around is super funny to
[27:12] me. Yeah, it's very, very weird.
[27:13] They're very mom is the word. I feel like you're about to just
[27:17] say all the stuff that they're about to do, but that's they
[27:20] don't answer anything. No, they're fucking quiet as a
[27:22] mouse. Like the and and you're about to
[27:24] say all the stuff, I'm sure, but like they just keep asking them
[27:27] questions. They're just like.
[27:28] They're like, oh, we're so glad that you guys are here to help
[27:31] us. And they're like, how can we
[27:32] help? And they're just like kind of
[27:33] looking around like, oh fuck, what should I say?
[27:39] Every time they ask the pathologist a question, the
[27:41] pathologist just looks to them. And then they just kind of look
[27:44] around like. They just look.
[27:45] Shit, I can't say nothing about this.
[27:48] So they want they want their help.
[27:50] I would hate. The case but don't want to give
[27:51] them any information. I would hate to see this guy
[27:55] order at a McDonald's. The the workers like, what can I
[27:58] get you today, Sir? And he's just kind of like they.
[28:03] Didn't look around. Yeah.
[28:06] They can't see you so. I know, that's why I tried to
[28:09] make it a very audible exhale, but they're being, they're being
[28:14] very unhelpful to Mulder and Scully.
[28:17] And the pathologist, who is apparently the local ex
[28:21] exposition woman for this scene, tells the agents it appears as
[28:24] if the victims throats were crushed from the inside and the
[28:29] other two agents in the room ask if they've ever seen anything
[28:31] like this in The X-Files. Mulder says no and the tall
[28:35] black gentleman thanks them for their time.
[28:38] So they just walk out not really knowing anything about the.
[28:42] Well, they did. They got one piece of
[28:43] information. They asked them.
[28:45] They asked them how long ago, how far did the bodies travel?
[28:49] So we can like, like try to figure out why they're still
[28:51] warm when they shouldn't be. And they gave them that.
[28:54] They flew by air for 60 minutes. That was the only information
[28:59] they gave them. These were bodies that were
[29:00] found. Find out how they died.
[29:02] They flew here from 60 minutes. That's it.
[29:04] That's all the information. Yeah.
[29:06] And from that I forget exactly how.
[29:09] Maybe I have it wrote down and I actually apparently don't have
[29:12] it wrote down in my notes. Or no, no, no, I should
[29:14] actually. Written down.
[29:16] Written down. Yeah.
[29:18] Because, because they say something about that.
[29:21] It's one of the one of the people is knows one of the
[29:24] people is from Philadelphia or something.
[29:27] And as soon as Scully mentions that molder's like Philly, 60
[29:30] minutes by air from here. And I'm like, OK, you know that.
[29:34] But then I thought about it. They make a lot of airplane
[29:38] trips to big cities all the time.
[29:40] As FBI agents, they probably do know exactly how far it is from
[29:43] Washington to Philly to Washington to LA at.
[29:45] The end of the episode he does say he's been to Philly like 100
[29:48] times. Yeah, that's right.
[29:49] He doesn't mention about being to Philly a lot, so that makes
[29:51] sense. But at first I was just like,
[29:53] OK, you just know that. All right, Good writing I guess.
[29:57] But as they're walking out, Scully knows that Mulder lied to
[30:00] him. He has seen something like this.
[30:03] And Mulder, being ever timely and topical, says that he didn't
[30:10] lie, he just willfully participated in a campaign of
[30:13] misinformation. That shit sounds like it was
[30:15] written this year or in the past six years.
[30:19] Mulder should be a politician. No, he should not.
[30:22] Good God, I know. Good God.
[30:25] But. That does sound like a
[30:26] politician thing to say. Mulder thinks those creepy,
[30:29] unhelpful folks were probably NSA or CIA, and he notes that he
[30:34] does have a few files that involve static electricity and
[30:37] internal mutilation, but nothing so prevalent as this so far.
[30:42] Molder says it's psychokinesis most likely.
[30:45] Which I was like, what does he mean telekinesis?
[30:48] And why did he immediately go to that?
[30:52] Because he had OK, I, I see where you think that, where you
[30:55] see that. But I think it's because he does
[30:57] have a bunch of files that have similar things throughout.
[31:01] And that's the concern offenses for those things.
[31:05] So he's making that jump here. But what I think is so funny is
[31:08] when Mulder looks Scully dead in her eye and says it's
[31:12] psychokinesis. And you see Scully go from a
[31:15] normal face to just slowly start to smile as she's talking
[31:18] because she thinks it's so ridiculous.
[31:21] She's just really psychokinesis. It's.
[31:25] It's funny, says. Apparently the Russians and
[31:27] Chinese have studied it, which I mean, yeah, I can see that.
[31:32] Yeah. Psycho manis man.
[31:34] We've also been playing Metal Gear a little bit, so I don't
[31:37] know. Scully says they can't
[31:39] investigate with nothing to go on, and this is when Mulder fogs
[31:43] up his glasses, revealing that he took the thumbprints of both
[31:46] victims with them. That's what that's how they got
[31:48] the information about Philadelphia.
[31:50] Yeah, because he one of them. They're from Philadelphia.
[31:53] That's what it. Is yeah, they do the
[31:54] fingerprints, yeah, it just jumps.
[31:56] The next thing is they have the fingerprints in the information.
[31:58] Route yeah, they just. Skip all the yeah.
[32:00] And the next morning we are back at HTG Industries in Philly and
[32:06] Warren is asking a secretary to see her new boss that took over
[32:10] for Graves, whose name is Mr. Dorland.
[32:14] And he's. Creepy.
[32:15] Yes, he is. OK, so this guy, right, he looks
[32:18] like his face looks like he should have been on The
[32:21] Munsters. Yeah, he looks like a his face
[32:24] is very like vampire or Frankenstein, but slightly
[32:27] silly. Like the Addams family?
[32:29] Yes, he could have been on the Addams family as one of their.
[32:32] Cousins or something? Yeah.
[32:35] Cousin what? Cousin what?
[32:38] Cousin it? Cousin what?
[32:40] He has a feud going with Cousin It, but and.
[32:44] He's just bald. Yeah, the secretary is kind of a
[32:47] bit of an asshole to Lauren, and her coffee seemingly spills on
[32:53] its own, soaking her lap. And Mr. Dorland comes out of his
[32:57] office to see what the hubbub is, and Lauren asks if she can
[33:01] speak to him now, and he says yes.
[33:03] And so she sits down and declares her two weeks notice in
[33:06] his office. And he appears to be nice,
[33:09] saying that she's like family, that he hopes she'll change her
[33:12] mind. But then he gets up and he grabs
[33:15] her face out of nowhere and says, I won't let you leave,
[33:18] Lauren. I know, that's what I mean.
[33:21] By that was very. That was my kind of creepy What
[33:23] the Hell's happening here? Yeah, I did it.
[33:27] It felt weird, like why would he?
[33:29] Why did it was such a jump? He didn't even like transition
[33:33] slowly into going to that. No, he's just like, OK, well,
[33:35] you know, I hope everything's good for you.
[33:37] You're not leaving, motherfucker.
[33:39] Yeah. He's psychokinesis without the
[33:41] kinesis. No, he's.
[33:42] Just psycho. He's just.
[33:44] Psycho. That was a good one.
[33:47] This is when when he grabs her face and is kind of
[33:50] confrontational like that. His bracelet tightens on his
[33:53] wrist painfully, which is really weird to do, but whatever.
[33:57] Wouldn't you like smack his arm or like throw his body back or
[34:03] something? He just tightened.
[34:05] It's like I got you and. How hard could that have?
[34:11] Like, really squeezed his wrist? Really.
[34:13] And I feel like at a certain point it would just break it.
[34:15] I mean, it would hurt a little bit, but it would break.
[34:18] But he struggles in pain to remove it from his wrist.
[34:21] But he he finally is released, I guess, from it.
[34:27] Like, let's go. Yeah.
[34:31] Lauren says she can't stay. And so she goes to leave from
[34:34] her office, and her boss, looking at his wrist in
[34:38] bewilderment, coldly says, you got two weeks.
[34:41] I'm like, this guy's bipolar. He's like, oh, yeah, I hope
[34:44] everything works out for you. And then he grabs her face and
[34:47] he's like, you can't leave. And then that happened.
[34:49] And he's like, you got two weeks.
[34:50] Get out of here. What does this guy want?
[34:52] It's. One of them like.
[34:54] Men, am I right? Right.
[34:57] Definitely. Especially old creepy men.
[35:01] Yeah, in Mulder, we're back in the X zone, and Mulder is
[35:06] looking up the IDs of the men. One was named Muhammad, and I'm
[35:10] not going to try to pronounce his last name.
[35:13] I'm going to fuck it up if I try.
[35:15] And he had convictions for illegal possession of a firearm
[35:19] and the same charge of that, but for explosives.
[35:23] And he has ties to an Iranian extremist group operating in the
[35:26] US out of Philly, which Mulder notes is about an hour of air
[35:31] travel away. And.
[35:32] It's called if if for Han Isfahan Isfahan, which is an
[35:36] actual thing. Yeah, it's named after a place.
[35:39] So they end up heading out to Philadelphia after a call to the
[35:42] Police Department, and the agents are talking to an officer
[35:46] who is showing them where the bodies were found.
[35:48] He tells them he found them on patrol.
[35:50] There were no witnesses as to what happened.
[35:53] The type of people that hang out around here at night don't tend
[35:56] to see anything basically saying ain't nobody talking.
[36:00] Yeah, ain't nobody talking. Yeah.
[36:02] And yeah, Mulder does walk away mid conversation like a kid.
[36:06] He does it. All he's just like, oh, what's
[36:07] the shiny thing over here? I think it's like, oh, Scully,
[36:11] I'll get the information, just whatever.
[36:13] If Mulder was born in 2010, he would absolutely be a you got
[36:17] any games on your phone type of kid.
[36:19] Oh yeah. Oh yeah, hardcore.
[36:22] But as as he's walking down the street, he notices an ATM and so
[36:28] he naturally pulls ACCTV camera from the ATM and they're
[36:34] examining the footage and they spot the assault from the cold
[36:38] open. They figure out her name from
[36:40] the transaction log, Lauren Kite, and they find out her
[36:43] address. OK, first of all, point I made
[36:46] while we were watching. So like, they're just looking at
[36:49] the ATM footage that they're just now seeing for the first
[36:52] time. Yeah, they just found this
[36:53] footage, Yes. And they see the timestamp and
[36:56] she automatically has her name, her information, where she
[37:00] works, right there out of these paper.
[37:02] Well, I mean that is. It seemed a little bit fault far
[37:05] fetched to me. I don't know about having that
[37:07] information so quickly because we don't really there it is.
[37:10] We don't really have like a timeline for when this happened.
[37:13] But I think you would have to like petition to get those
[37:15] records from the ATM company, right?
[37:17] Yeah. Yeah, and then the footage too.
[37:20] And I mean, I feel like. The footage would be easier
[37:23] because that would be like more locally.
[37:24] Yes. OK.
[37:25] So I feel like the footage that would have given to them
[37:26] immediately and then after they went through the footage and
[37:28] said, hey, can we get the information for this woman, they
[37:31] would have said yes. They wouldn't just give them a
[37:34] piece of paper with the information of all the people
[37:36] that visited that ATM that day. They wouldn't just do that.
[37:40] That's like breach of privacy type stuff.
[37:42] Yeah, but you have to suspend your disbelief.
[37:45] I want to believe. I want to not believe.
[37:49] I don't believe, damn it, No, I, I just, it's just sometimes
[37:53] stuff like that a little far fetched, but I mean, there's a
[37:58] ghost or whatever, so. Yeah, if there's a ghost,
[38:02] there's a chance that you could get ATM records quickly, I
[38:05] guess. And so there's a Bigfoot.
[38:07] There's whatever else we've seen so far last.
[38:09] Oh my God. So in The Sixth Sense, you could
[38:11] probably get ATM records quickly because there are ghosts.
[38:15] That's the rules. If there's ever a universe where
[38:17] there's ghosts, there's quick ATM records that makes.
[38:19] Sense that makes. Sense we figured it out, that
[38:22] makes Haunted Mansion insanely quick ATM records.
[38:25] Yeah, if if Christopher Nolan is listening, use that for your
[38:29] next movie or Chris. Kristofferson.
[38:36] Oh my Chris Angel. He's like, I have my ghost
[38:41] friend here talk to him for a second and then he comes like he
[38:44] walks away and he comes back around the corner with the full
[38:47] ATM. This has gone on too far.
[38:50] This is not funny anymore. OK, Motor spots a strange image
[38:56] in the video, like a whoosh. It looks like a a person, kind
[39:00] of, but they're whooshing. I don't think it looks like a
[39:03] person, it literally looks like a ball of light.
[39:05] Mom, can you confirm that? Like a person, a person.
[39:09] It was a Persian person. It was a Persian person, God
[39:14] damn it, it was a Persian person that was in the middle of a
[39:17] woosh. Can you?
[39:18] Do you concur? I concur do.
[39:20] You concur? No.
[39:21] OK, that's like in Catch Me If You Can when he's like a.
[39:27] Doctor. He's like, it looks like this
[39:29] guy's pretty hurt. You concur.
[39:30] He's like, I guess, yeah. Yeah, good.
[39:33] Figure it out. And Scully says maybe it is
[39:36] another person, but it's too low of quality to enhance.
[39:39] Yeah, it looks just. I mean it.
[39:42] Which is bullshit because we know in the 90s you could
[39:44] enhance anything. Oh yeah, Oh yeah.
[39:46] They had all sorts of crazy equipment back then.
[39:49] But we cut to Lauren, who's at home drinking a Diet Pepsi,
[39:53] looking at the placard she took. It is not a Diet Pepsi, it's a
[39:56] diet cola. It does say diet cola but it has
[39:59] the little sphere Pepsi logo on it and the agents knock on the
[40:04] door and she looks out the peephole and the height
[40:07] difference between Mulder and Scully in the fish in the
[40:09] fisheye lens is adorable. Yes.
[40:12] She's so much shorter than him. Was she on a ghillie box?
[40:17] Maybe, I feel like maybe for that specific shot well as
[40:21] fisheye lens actually captures like more than you would in a
[40:24] normal angle. Yes, so they would probably have
[40:26] to put her up on once or otherwise have been crazy.
[40:29] Yeah, she'd be like really alien looking.
[40:32] But she Lauren opens the door and the agents introduced
[40:35] themselves and she says she was in the middle of something.
[40:38] But Molder smells the Diet Pepsi, so she he knows she's not
[40:42] busy. He says they won't be long and
[40:46] he steps inside. Yeah, it's so funny.
[40:48] He just literally, she's like, actually I'm kind of busy right
[40:52] now. Before she finishes the
[40:53] sentence, he says, all right then, thank you.
[40:55] We'll come right in and just pushes right in.
[40:57] And I'll say, yeah, I'll say, he gently barges.
[41:01] Yeah, very nicely barges into the house.
[41:04] Technically, is he allowed to do that?
[41:06] You know, I don't think so. But who?
[41:08] Molder doesn't care. He's on a mission.
[41:10] Yeah. He's going molder mode, but
[41:14] Scully shows her a picture of the men that died that night,
[41:19] and Lauren is hesitant to say she recognizes them.
[41:22] So Scully shows her the ATM freeze frame.
[41:25] She she says she didn't want to file a report after she got
[41:28] away. Because she just apparently they
[41:30] kidnapped, they grabbed her, and then she ran and escaped.
[41:33] Yeah, that's her story. What you mean I don't know.
[41:37] If I was like almost kidnapped or like accosted in an alleyway,
[41:41] I would probably run to the police.
[41:43] I don't know. Yeah, I, I would probably do
[41:46] something. I, I, I don't know if I would
[41:48] just be like, no, I'm not going to report anything.
[41:50] Yeah, but I mean, but some crazy shit happened.
[41:54] That's why she didn't want to report it.
[41:56] We know that though, so. And this is when Mulder tells
[42:00] her that the men in the video or in the screenshot were actually
[42:03] found dead, and she's asked about the blur in the photo and
[42:08] if she knows who it is. Yes, and.
[42:10] I'm I'm befuddled by that, Befuddled.
[42:15] I thought, what the hell? Who's this blur?
[42:18] You can't see a damn. Thing no you can't.
[42:20] There's no way you can tell who it is at all.
[42:23] It's so blurry. It's just, I mean, it's
[42:26] arguably, you can't even tell it's a person.
[42:29] No, it's just, I mean it. It's a light, a circular light
[42:32] shaped thing. It could have been anything.
[42:37] I mean, yeah, it could have been like, I don't know, a piece of
[42:39] trash that blew by. I mean, it is vaguely person
[42:42] shaped, but still. And head shoulders.
[42:45] It could have been anything because there's no, you can't
[42:47] see a face at all. But anyway, she seems to act
[42:52] suspiciously and she says she can't say who it is, but it's
[42:56] the way she it's the way she says it.
[42:58] Yeah, I can't say who it is, who it is not.
[43:02] I don't know who it is I. Can't say.
[43:05] Which is very different. And this is when Mulder gives
[43:09] her his number in. The pair of agents take their
[43:13] leave and the they have their doubts about what she said, with
[43:17] Mulder noticing she was packing her belongings.
[43:21] And they get into the car, which is not a lariat this time, it is
[43:24] a Ford. I'm not even sure if it was a
[43:26] lariat in the first episode when I mentioned it, but I know they
[43:29] definitely have a bunch of lariats later in the seasons.
[43:32] But they get in and suddenly the doors lock and the car is put
[43:37] into gear by some unseen force. They high speed reverse into a
[43:42] collision with another car. I and I'm Lauren apparently saw
[43:46] the whole thing from her window. I guess she like comes outside
[43:49] and shit. And so they take the car to a
[43:53] mechanic to have it checked, and it turns out it's fine, except
[43:57] the lights won't shut off. Which Electro?
[44:01] Whatever stuff, right? Yeah, it's apparently the
[44:04] filaments are heated due to the huge electrostatic charge, just
[44:07] like the bodies were. And Lauren was present both
[44:15] times this electrostatic thing happened.
[44:19] And so I guess Molder thinks she's got powers.
[44:21] Yeah, basically the molder has a theory that it's possible to
[44:26] raise the electrostatic charge in the body and use it to affect
[44:29] the environment. Scully points out that's just
[44:32] physiologically impossible. But Molder says unexplained
[44:37] moving objects and things of that nature are just typical
[44:40] X-Files that happen all the time.
[44:42] Relax. Yeah, he does.
[44:44] He lists like 3 or 4 different things that they're all in The
[44:46] X-Files and it's just normal, OK?
[44:50] He tells Scully either Lauren Kite or a poltergeist crashed
[44:54] their car. Scully breaks down the evidence.
[44:57] Logically, 2 Middle Eastern extremists died while trying to
[45:01] assault a woman who works for a manufacturer of parts for the
[45:05] Department of Defense or War or whatever.
[45:08] Oh God, let's not even start no Samuel Jackson Pulp Fiction
[45:12] speech. And Speaking of Samuel Jackson.
[45:15] I know I thought about it earlier, but.
[45:19] She she says maybe when they were questioning Laura Lauren,
[45:24] sorry, someone could have possibly sabotaged their car.
[45:29] She says both the murders and the car tampering could have
[45:31] been done by the unknown guy from the ATM image.
[45:35] I like how they're just referring to this as a person
[45:37] now. Yeah, this.
[45:38] Little ball of light that they saw in this video.
[45:41] It's just a person. She says the mystery isn't
[45:44] something as preposterous as psychokinesis.
[45:48] It's who Lauren's accomplice was.
[45:51] Just then, the lights on the vehicle shut off, and Molder
[45:54] throws his jacket over his arm and looks at Scully like he's in
[45:57] a modeling ad. Hey, baby.
[46:01] And you did forget one line from Scully.
[46:03] I did, she said. She said they're coming.
[46:06] Oh yeah, they're here. That's right, they're here.
[46:09] From Poltergeist. Yeah, the I, I, I wish we would
[46:15] have remembered to check this because I didn't catch it until
[46:18] we watched it just before we came over to my mom's house to
[46:22] record. But the agents are watching
[46:25] Lauren from a distance as she shoes away a man trying to
[46:28] reassign Howard Graves parking space.
[46:32] Yeah, he's got like a big metal fancy sign.
[46:34] You weigh it's a stencil so you can like spray over Oh.
[46:38] But it's a big metal size. Yeah, you would have to paint
[46:41] over or do something to the name that's already there to get.
[46:44] Yeah, come on. Maybe he was just making sure it
[46:46] was the right size, right? Size.
[46:47] Yeah, probably. It looked like they were gonna
[46:49] take on the Howard Graves thing and put a new one.
[46:51] She kind of freaks out at this guy a little bit, and it's funny
[46:55] because the name that is in the stencil that he was about to put
[46:59] there is Tom Braidwood. Yes, which you do not know who
[47:02] Tom Braidwood is yet, but you will learn eventually.
[47:05] That's our fro Hickey. That's how you're.
[47:07] Going to meet that is fantastic. Yeah, and he is a character.
[47:10] I think it's fro Hickey. I'm not sure it's either fro
[47:13] Hickey or buyers. I'm not completely.
[47:15] Sure, look it up. Melza's going to play woman in
[47:17] the chair for a second and look that up.
[47:19] Tom Braidwood. Yeah, that's for a Hickey.
[47:24] OK, Yeah, that's all we needed was a second to look at this
[47:26] man's very unique face. Yes, so apparently, and I just
[47:30] learned this today. You know, I feel like I've
[47:32] probably learned it in the past and forgot that he before
[47:36] becoming because he doesn't. They're not in the show until
[47:38] what, season 2 or 3? No, they're EBE they, which is I
[47:44] think episode 19 or 21. So this season, yeah, OK.
[47:47] So we will meet them relatively soon.
[47:50] But yeah, apparently he worked on the episodes like he was like
[47:52] a producer. Or background.
[47:54] He was something. Background, editing, whatever
[47:57] was his job and he ended up getting a role on the show that
[48:00] ends up being a prominent role. Wow.
[48:02] One of the recurring roles. So that was kind of a cool
[48:05] little find. But they're, they're looking up
[48:08] more on Lauren Kite. And Scully says that she's clean
[48:11] except for credit card debt, which is kind of funny.
[48:15] Can't investigate her for that. But they can investigate the
[48:18] name Howard Graves, which they now have.
[48:21] And back at FBIHQ, Scully finds a newspaper record with an
[48:25] article on Howard Graves's suicide.
[48:28] Lauren was his secretary. That's three people dead who
[48:32] were connected to Lauren. Yeah.
[48:34] Doesn't look good. It zooms in on the fact that he
[48:36] slit his wrists and he drowned in a bathtub.
[48:39] Yeah, so the agents catch up to Lauren at Howard Graves's grave.
[48:46] Good God. I had that in my notes too.
[48:48] Graves grave? Yeah.
[48:51] They, they see Lauren at Howard Graves's grave.
[48:53] She's putting flowers on Graves's grave.
[48:56] And besides Graves's grave, there's the grave of another
[48:58] Graves. Sarah Wynn Graves, 1966 to 69.
[49:02] Is that enough Graves for your mom?
[49:04] Yeah. Was that grave enough?
[49:06] That was gravy. It was all gravy, buddy.
[49:09] Bingo. Gravy.
[49:12] That's an inside joke, but Mulder gets the attention of a
[49:17] nearby caretaker who is digging around in a nearby water
[49:22] feature, I guess. Planting plot?
[49:24] Pulling weeds maybe. I I didn't pay close attention
[49:28] this time, but I in my notes I apparently thought he was
[49:31] digging around in a water feature.
[49:32] So this is the the the best memory on an old man ever in my
[49:38] life. I've ever seen.
[49:39] He's like, I know shit about everybody that's buried here.
[49:41] They're my friends. You ask him about a grave in
[49:44] that place. He will tell you their life
[49:46] story. Well, can he explain this?
[49:49] That miss that Mister Graves has only been dead 2 weeks but his
[49:53] grave looks like the grass has been growing over it for years.
[49:58] Maybe he did that with his psychic power?
[50:00] Whatever, I guess. Psychokinesis, his grass, his
[50:04] grass kinesis. But this, this caretaker is
[50:08] pretty creepy. Unfortunately.
[50:11] He says he attends every funeral and that Sarah Lynn was Howard's
[50:15] daughter. Apparently Howard left the pool
[50:18] gate unlocked one day while he was away and Sarah drowned.
[50:21] Howard's wife left him shortly after.
[50:23] She was only three. Yeah, which is sad.
[50:26] Which you notice on the grave. It's like 66.
[50:28] Not even 3 'cause it was like September to August.
[50:31] Yeah, she was like almost three, Yeah.
[50:33] But sad, the caretaker walks away to be strange somewhere
[50:37] else, and Moulder and Moulder not.
[50:41] Oh, and Molder notes that if Sarah had survived, she'd be the
[50:46] same age as Lauren. So they both, like, give each
[50:49] other the look that we just figured it out.
[50:52] Lauren feels like Howard Graves's daughter.
[50:56] But it's like, I mean, obviously, but whatever.
[51:00] So they dive deeper on Lauren survey surveilling her and
[51:04] Scully finds out that Lauren hasn't talked to her own parents
[51:08] in two years and that she has a strong relationship with
[51:12] relationship with her deceased boss and wonders how it all ties
[51:15] together. Molder develops the surveillance
[51:18] pictures they had taken. Upon zooming in, a blurred face
[51:22] appears. The blurry man appears to be
[51:24] wearing a suit. They enhance the man to see that
[51:28] it appears to be a badly edited in Howard Graves, but Molder
[51:33] isn't so sure. At Lauren's place, she's
[51:36] sleeping when her cat makes a demon noise.
[51:39] Yeah, it is. She's awoken by creaking
[51:41] floorboards. She grabs a baseball bat out of
[51:45] her closet and heads cautiously out of her room.
[51:48] In the hallway, she hears a man begging no, no stop in a sound
[51:53] of running water, She. Gets a bat, yeah.
[51:57] She reaches her bathroom and flips on the lights.
[52:00] She reaches out slowly toward the curtain and Yanks it back
[52:04] really quick. There's water in her tub and a
[52:07] large amount of blood spreading in it, but no body.
[52:10] And the blood's getting bigger and bigger, Yeah.
[52:13] And I gotta just her. Her sounds that she makes are
[52:19] ridiculously. It kinda.
[52:21] It kinda looked like she was feeling something else, if you
[52:23] know what I'm saying. Yeah, it was a little, it was a
[52:26] little moaning. But yeah, she was, she was
[52:30] hyperventilating. And as the blood drain, she
[52:32] exclaims, Howard, they killed him.
[52:35] And this is a great time to actually mention that there was
[52:38] a tie in product for this episode.
[52:40] Oh, really? Yeah.
[52:42] So they they wanted to capitalize on this scene of the
[52:46] episode. And what they did was they
[52:48] manufactured a bath bomb that was called the Howard Murder
[52:52] Blood Colored Bath Bomb. A terrible name, but I don't
[52:57] think that's the only reason it didn't sell very well for them,
[53:00] unfortunately. Basically this bath bomb came
[53:03] with a little speaker inside it that would play sounds from this
[53:06] scene. So the problem was it was
[53:08] muffled underneath the bath bomb stuff so you couldn't really
[53:12] hear it, but it also wasn't waterproof.
[53:15] So by the time the bath bomb dissolved enough for you to hear
[53:18] Lauren hyperventilating, it fell into the water, giving anyone in
[53:21] the tub a light shock, and immediately shorted out.
[53:25] Well, you know what? My granddaughters love bath
[53:28] bombs, but they're not getting this one for Christmas.
[53:30] I don't. Think it'd probably be $1000 on
[53:34] the dark web. Yeah.
[53:36] You have to go to. You have to go to Telegram and
[53:39] talk to a shady person to get one.
[53:41] But you know what though? What?
[53:43] I bet the bath bomb blood part it might actually be a real
[53:47] product. Oh, for sure.
[53:49] Like what do you mean? A real product.
[53:51] This was a real product. Oh, of course, Yeah, of course.
[53:56] Failed product. I mean successful product.
[53:58] By product I just mean successful.
[54:01] But there's probably like horror themed bath bombs that have like
[54:04] blood, maybe make it look like there's spiders in your bath or
[54:07] something like that. That's probably a thing.
[54:09] They probably got stinky bath bombs.
[54:11] Oh God. Like they released a Harley
[54:14] Quinn comic that was all about farts.
[54:17] And the comic smelled. Yeah, we watched Comic Lads,
[54:20] this YouTube channel. I love read it and they were
[54:23] like gagging the whole time. This bath bomb, if it was like
[54:27] that, you'd go in and you'd get squeaky clean.
[54:30] You'd come out smelling like poop.
[54:32] Yeah. I look great, I smell terrible.
[54:36] Look great, Smell terrible? Leave a a farting corpse?
[54:41] I don't know, but Scully seems to think that Howard Graves
[54:47] faked his death and that Lauren Kite and he were in some kind of
[54:51] illicit dealings together, which.
[54:53] OK, Yeah, OK, Scully and. Jumps are great.
[54:57] That's. Crazy.
[54:59] Mulder throws out a You May Be right, which shocks Scully.
[55:02] I think he just liked it because it was out of nowhere and he
[55:06] brings up there's only one person that was able to fake his
[55:09] death though, and that's Elvis. And he does Elvis.
[55:12] He does like the lips thing. It's very.
[55:14] Weird. The southern lip quiver,
[55:16] whatever. Elvis, I don't know.
[55:18] I can't do it. He's it's weird.
[55:21] He tells her all she has to do is prove that Howard Graves is
[55:24] still alive. And this is when we cut to
[55:27] everyone's favorite medical examiner, Ellen Bledsoe.
[55:30] Oh, and. This the first scenes of this
[55:34] woman's face that you see, it does just a close up shot of
[55:39] this older black lady with like a a curly Bob bang thing going
[55:45] on. And she is just the most
[55:48] deadpan, irritated, annoyed bitch face, yeah, that you could
[55:55] even imagine. And it's just zooms and she's
[55:58] just so mad that she's having to talk to people.
[56:01] One of the original proprietors of Resting Bitch Face for sure.
[56:04] And she has very dead expressionless eyes.
[56:08] Like Sam Loomis would say that she has dolls eyes.
[56:12] I don't know. That's a reference to Halloween.
[56:14] I don't know if you remember Sam Loomis, Donald Pleasance's
[56:17] character. Oh man, we have a terrifying
[56:20] story about watching Halloween that has nothing to do with the
[56:24] movie. That's a fun memory.
[56:25] We won't get into it. But anyway, Ellen Bledsoe tells
[56:30] the agents that Howard Graves is very dead, and she says it in
[56:36] the most monotone voice possible.
[56:39] And Scully asked to see the autopsy report and Ellen tosses
[56:43] it to her and sardonically tells her to knock herself out.
[56:48] She she is done with this shit, and she's been done with it
[56:52] since the day she. Was born.
[56:53] She is literally counting the seconds to retirement.
[56:56] For real. And I because you said she, we
[57:00] looked it up. She passed away unfortunately.
[57:02] Yeah, she was only in her early 50s.
[57:04] She passed away 2009. She was like only 35 here she
[57:07] has the the spirit of like a 60 year old woman.
[57:12] She that's right, because she's only she was born in the late
[57:14] 50s. Yeah, so she wasn't even.
[57:18] She looks. Oh, what did she have?
[57:20] She maybe had some kind of illness or something.
[57:22] She might have went through some shit.
[57:24] Yeah, like she does not look in her 30s.
[57:26] I'm in my 30s. That woman looked double my age.
[57:31] For real. She's she's been dead since the
[57:34] day she was alive. But Scully starts reading the
[57:39] autopsy report out loud, and the cause of death was arterial
[57:44] haemorrhage. Ellen interjects 4 out of 6
[57:47] liters of blood down the tub and you get the You get the feeling
[57:52] that Miss Bledsoe doesn't have many happy days.
[57:56] No, I mean she deals with death 24/7.
[57:59] Yeah, she doesn't know the Fonz at all, but Scully notes some
[58:06] missing blood work, and the doctor in Ellen Bledsoe points
[58:10] out that they only do that if homicide is suspected.
[58:14] Mulder asked about dental checks on the body and Ellen quickly
[58:17] says what for? It was him.
[58:19] She also says the toe tag said so.
[58:23] But they also learned that that his tissues and organs were
[58:27] donated. So even though Graves was
[58:29] cremated, they may have a lead to make sure he's actually dead,
[58:34] which is good, I guess 'cause they're good.
[58:36] I mean, I don't know, man. If I saw a blurry picture of a
[58:39] person, I wouldn't automatic. I mean, I guess they did enhance
[58:42] it. Yeah, but how the hell did they
[58:45] enhance it back? Good back.
[58:47] Then if we're going just off of our 2026 eyes, this is just a
[58:51] badly edited photo that they're looking at.
[58:54] It doesn't look like he's really there, so I don't know.
[58:57] But a doctor tells the agents that Howard Graves is inside 5
[59:02] different people. That was just such a strange
[59:06] thing to say. Yeah, Oh, you're looking for
[59:08] Howard Graves. You're going to have to look
[59:10] inside five people to find him. And he lists like a a certain
[59:14] Oregon is in Oregon and a certain parts in some other
[59:18] state. Yeah, like Boston, Portland all
[59:20] over. Yeah, his corneas, apparently.
[59:23] His corneas were good. This old ass man had good eyes
[59:26] apparently. And the doctor says they have a
[59:31] few bits left of the body to extract DNA from, and they'll
[59:34] have the data on the donor's identity in a few hours.
[59:37] And then we cut from there to a kitschy office party at Lauren's
[59:41] work. A woman hugs her and starts
[59:43] crying. So Lauren decides to step away
[59:46] from that. It's.
[59:47] Got a There's a big goodbye, Lauren.
[59:49] Or good. Luck, Lauren.
[59:50] Something like that. Yeah, so going away party for
[59:53] her I guess. So it's been 2 weeks.
[59:55] Yeah, time frame, it's been 2 weeks because she said two
[59:57] weeks. Yeah, I guess really, it doesn't
[59:59] feel like what the fuck's been happening outside of that.
[1:00:02] I mean, well, I imagine it was at least a couple of days after
[1:00:05] the two weeks notice thing when the FBI showed up.
[1:00:07] Scully and Mold are just mini golfing.
[1:00:09] Well, they had to wait to get that tissues.
[1:00:14] And yeah, yeah. Yeah, the results and stuff and
[1:00:17] then yeah, I guess. But Lauren grabs a box of her
[1:00:20] things at her desk and steps into Howard Graves his office to
[1:00:23] look around one last time. But suddenly the door closes
[1:00:27] behind her and she turns to see her creepy, handsy new boss
[1:00:31] who's offended that she's leaving without saying goodbye
[1:00:33] to him. I wouldn't want to say goodbye
[1:00:35] to him either, I know. He says he has something to tell
[1:00:39] her before she goes. He knows that Howard, quote, UN
[1:00:42] quote, told her, and he threatens her that if whatever
[1:00:46] he's talking about gets out, he won't waste time trying to
[1:00:48] figure out who said something. He'll just go straight to her.
[1:00:52] She asked him if he's going to do to her what he did to Howard.
[1:00:56] She says Howard told him that her new boss is his killer,
[1:01:00] which is great. Like, this guy is creepy.
[1:01:02] And you're in a room alone with him and he's blocking the only
[1:01:05] exit. You're like, yeah, dude, I know
[1:01:06] you're a murderer. That's a great survival
[1:01:09] instincts. Lauren Bravo.
[1:01:12] But she walks past him, escaping his grabby hands along the way,
[1:01:16] and she sits at the desk, picks up a phone and gives the agents
[1:01:19] a call. Molder answers.
[1:01:21] She says who he. She says who she is and says she
[1:01:25] needs them to go to her house, and quickly.
[1:01:29] Her boss watches as she leaves with her box of stuff.
[1:01:33] Scully chimes in from near Molder, and it turns out that
[1:01:36] Bledsoe is right. Graves is DED dead.
[1:01:40] The biomatter of the plant transplants is a match.
[1:01:44] And we cut back to Lauren's house.
[1:01:47] And this is when a couple of people who were up to no good
[1:01:50] start making trouble in her neighborhood.
[1:01:53] But you have one. Little fight.
[1:01:56] And Howard Graves didn't like it.
[1:01:59] My mom got scared. Wow, look at that guys.
[1:02:03] Full circle. Friends, my mom got scared.
[1:02:06] And did you tell, did you tell Mulder or Scully that they were
[1:02:10] going to have to go live with their auntie and uncle in Bel
[1:02:12] Air? Almost.
[1:02:16] But Howard Graves doesn't like the look of these two visitors
[1:02:19] leather jackets because when Lauren goes to answer the door,
[1:02:22] it bolts itself shut. That's a sign if I ever saw it.
[1:02:27] When she finally struggles to get it open and does, a chair
[1:02:30] flies in from the other room to block the door.
[1:02:33] The two goons bust in anyway and Lauren falls back.
[1:02:37] Lights start exploding 1 by 1 and Lauren finds her feet and
[1:02:41] starts to flee. One of the goons goes after her,
[1:02:44] but is pinned by a large wooden table sliding at him and pinning
[1:02:48] him to the wall. There's a, there's a moment
[1:02:50] right there right before that happens where it's very weird
[1:02:53] looking. Yeah, when she's running right
[1:02:55] before the table. I think it's because during the
[1:02:58] table, when the table has to get thrown, there's obviously some
[1:03:00] editing done there, but it makes it, it makes everything look
[1:03:04] really, really weird there for a split second, kind of.
[1:03:06] Choppy. It's like that one episode where
[1:03:09] the table slides across the room into that guy in that X file in
[1:03:15] a later season. Oh, OK.
[1:03:17] I was like, what? You mean the one we're watching
[1:03:18] right now? That's what.
[1:03:19] I was thinking, 'cause I hadn't seen the other.
[1:03:21] Ones, yeah, but you pop it, pop it.
[1:03:29] That's the delicious sound of diet cola brought to you by
[1:03:33] Lauren Kite. Well, I did it.
[1:03:34] I try not to make you see. You can hear it, I know, but
[1:03:37] fuck it, we're all inclusive. Warren sees a shimmer move past
[1:03:43] her towards the female goon, who tries to get out of the front
[1:03:46] door, but she's too late. Howard Graves crushes her throat
[1:03:51] as Lauren screams. The remaining thug frees
[1:03:54] himself, only to get clothes lined by an unseen force, and
[1:03:58] when he gets upright again, Howard starts piercing him up
[1:04:02] like it's a Mortal Kombat combo. And, you know, I got to say, the
[1:04:06] stuntmen here, not only did they do pretty good, but that guy,
[1:04:10] he's getting punched in the face over and over again and blood
[1:04:13] squirting out of his mouth. But there's no one there.
[1:04:15] Yeah. So you gotta think this, this
[1:04:17] stuntman actor guy is just going very convincingly.
[1:04:22] Yeah, that's pretty good. That's not not easy to do.
[1:04:25] And this is when the agents pull up just in time to hear Lauren
[1:04:29] screaming. And of course Molder gets in
[1:04:31] there nice and quick with his long legs.
[1:04:33] Little fucking Scully. Their tiny little legs takes
[1:04:36] forever. She's walking over there like
[1:04:38] Mr. Krabs, but Molder rushes in and he stumbles upon the
[1:04:46] attacker being strangled in midair and the attacker drops
[1:04:49] with a croak. I.
[1:04:51] Know I'm so I'm like come on, come on, Scully was taking you
[1:04:55] so damn long. Come on girl, you've been some
[1:04:58] season. This is the life of The X-Files
[1:05:00] right there. We told we told mom this was
[1:05:03] going to be in the current. Yeah, you see, Mulder is staring
[1:05:07] at this man floating in the air, obviously being choked.
[1:05:09] He can't breathe. And you can see the door open
[1:05:12] behind him. And you're like, when is Skelly
[1:05:15] going to walk in? When Skelly going to walk in?
[1:05:17] But me knowing I'm just like, yeah, she's not going to walk in
[1:05:19] till the moment after he falls. And then of course, that's
[1:05:22] exactly what happens is the moment after he falls and he's
[1:05:24] just on the ground. And I'm on the edge of my seat.
[1:05:29] Gully, get in. Come on.
[1:05:31] Yeah. And of course, she comes in
[1:05:34] right after he falls to the ground and is just laying there
[1:05:37] motionlessly. And this is when Lauren sits
[1:05:40] shaking on the floor. And the agents start surveying
[1:05:43] the scene. And we come from there to Lauren
[1:05:47] being in an interview room with the gang.
[1:05:50] Lauren looks like she's in shock and she's non responsive to
[1:05:54] Mulder and Scully's questions. And the people from the
[1:05:58] beginning that contacted the agents through Blevins interrupt
[1:06:01] them and order the agents out into the hall.
[1:06:04] Order rudely. Yeah, they're like, come here
[1:06:06] now. Like out here, it's very, very
[1:06:09] rude. Yeah, they're, they're pissed
[1:06:11] off and they want to know everything that Mulder and
[1:06:13] Scully have done pertaining to this case.
[1:06:16] But Scully Uno reverses and asks the two what they've found, and
[1:06:20] they tell the agents they believe Howard Graves Company
[1:06:23] sold parts to the Iranian extremists.
[1:06:26] They don't know how Lauren is involved, however, and the woman
[1:06:31] of the two says they'll have to release Lauren unless she talks.
[1:06:34] The guy says he can make her talk.
[1:06:36] It's. Creepy.
[1:06:38] Yeah, the way he's. Do you want that man to ask you
[1:06:41] any questions? God, the way he says that I can
[1:06:44] make time. Don't ask no questions all.
[1:06:47] Right. You're going to say what Molder
[1:06:48] says back right there. Yeah, he warns them against
[1:06:51] getting rough with. Him.
[1:06:51] I wouldn't get rough with her if I were you.
[1:06:53] Yeah, but the pair of agents that aren't Scully and Molder
[1:06:57] leave the interview interview room sometime later, apparently
[1:07:00] unsuccessful. So Scully and Molder go in after
[1:07:03] the other two make their exit and Lauren is still being
[1:07:07] standoffish, but Molder says she's free to go if she doesn't
[1:07:10] want to help. Warren gets up and walks to the
[1:07:13] door, but she hesitates, saying she doesn't want to go back to
[1:07:16] her house. This gets strange to me that she
[1:07:19] just did this whole interview process with all these people
[1:07:22] and didn't answer a single fucking question.
[1:07:23] Was she not thinking the whole time, where am I going to go
[1:07:26] when I leave here? The moment she was free to
[1:07:28] leave, she was like, Oh yeah, where am I going to go?
[1:07:30] Yeah. I guess she doesn't think that
[1:07:33] far ahead, but Mulder says that she doesn't want to leave
[1:07:37] because of Howard Graves. He says that he's still watching
[1:07:40] over her, and she looks at Mulder as if he's the first
[1:07:44] reasonable person to ask her about anything during this whole
[1:07:47] ordeal. And I guess Lauren agrees to
[1:07:50] give the agents a real interview because we.
[1:07:54] Cut to a recording. They're they're recording it.
[1:07:56] No, they're not. Yeah, they are recording it, but
[1:07:59] she's standing in the corner talking about how her
[1:08:01] relationship with Howard Graves went.
[1:08:05] Good Lord, I can't read. She's talking about how her
[1:08:08] relationship with Howard Graves went as the tape recorder runs,
[1:08:13] you see. How it began and they came so
[1:08:17] became so close or something. Yeah, stuff like that.
[1:08:20] But she tells them of a time she found Graves crying in his
[1:08:24] office. Pentagon contracts had been
[1:08:27] cancelled and the company was going under.
[1:08:29] He was really worn down by his inability to assuage to the fear
[1:08:33] and sadness his employees showed that the life appending
[1:08:36] implications of the impending company demise.
[1:08:38] Good Lord, that's a running. What the fuck did you just say?
[1:08:42] OK, I'm going to read it one more time.
[1:08:43] Maybe a little slower for the audience.
[1:08:46] He was OK Friends, listen up. He was really worn down by his
[1:08:51] inability to assuage the fear and sadness his employees showed
[1:08:56] at the life upending implications of the impending
[1:08:59] company demise. So he was upset because his
[1:09:02] employees were sad they might lose their jobs.
[1:09:05] Yes. That's what he said.
[1:09:09] Then Dorland came with the Middle East extremist group.
[1:09:12] They buy product at a huge markup, and they just kept
[1:09:15] buying. The day Lauren found Howard
[1:09:18] crying in his office, he just learned that Isfahan had claimed
[1:09:22] responsibility for killing a couple of sailors out in
[1:09:25] Florida. She thought the guilt was why he
[1:09:28] had killed himself. But Howard showed her that
[1:09:31] Dorland had had him killed in a way that made his death look
[1:09:34] like a suicide. Because Dorland knew Howard had
[1:09:37] wanted to put an end to the Isfahan deal.
[1:09:40] Lauren tells the agents that Howard is protecting her.
[1:09:43] She can feel his presence and she also says she can smell his
[1:09:47] aftershave. Yeah, that's never brought up
[1:09:50] before or after this, but she says it sounds like it smells
[1:09:52] aftershave. I mean, how many different kinds
[1:09:55] of aftershave were? There in the 90s me though,
[1:09:57] before I'll get a whiff of something and it'll be trying to
[1:10:01] remind me of of something like when my great grandmother passed
[1:10:07] away. Muzzy.
[1:10:08] I missed the smell of her snuff because it was on her pillow
[1:10:15] where and I would go to sleep sometimes.
[1:10:18] Huh. Oh, I mean, I know smells can
[1:10:21] definitely be big reminders. And memory.
[1:10:24] Memory enhancers. Memory.
[1:10:26] Bring backers. Yeah, I couldn't think of a
[1:10:28] word. For it, you know, I hate when
[1:10:30] you smell something and you're like, I know what that smell is.
[1:10:33] I just can't think of what it is.
[1:10:35] God, it's horrible. That's, but that's the same
[1:10:38] thing with pretty much anything, especially you.
[1:10:40] I I I know what that is, but I can't think of it.
[1:10:42] Yeah. That's like your life.
[1:10:44] God, I hate it. She doesn't want all this,
[1:10:47] though, and that's why she's leaving.
[1:10:49] Scully convinces her to see this through, Help them prove that
[1:10:52] Howard Graves was murdered. Finishing his unfinished
[1:10:56] business, she says. How can you ever rest if he
[1:10:59] never can? Which Mulder says something
[1:11:02] after, but my first thought before I even heard what Mulder
[1:11:04] said was she don't believe her. Why is she lying to this woman's
[1:11:09] face? And.
[1:11:10] This being very manipulative. This is when Lauren says she
[1:11:12] needs to freshen up and dry her eyes and leaves the room.
[1:11:15] Yeah, but you were like, what the fuck?
[1:11:17] They're just gonna let her leave.
[1:11:18] Yeah, I was like she could just but she doesn't, I guess.
[1:11:20] But I mean, I was like she she that seems weird.
[1:11:22] She's. Free to go though, Like she
[1:11:24] could literally leave and it'd be OK.
[1:11:26] Yeah, but she just agreed to, like, help bring down an Iranian
[1:11:29] militant group or whatever the fuck's happening.
[1:11:32] Yeah, but so then she's just like, let's leave.
[1:11:34] They have a reason to like trust.
[1:11:35] She's not gonna run off because she you already had the chance
[1:11:38] to, you know? Yeah, I guess so.
[1:11:41] But then Mulder is like, what the fuck, Scully, You don't
[1:11:43] believe her? Why'd you say that?
[1:11:45] Yeah, he's like, what the fucky and she?
[1:11:51] Scully tells him that she believes Lauren believes and
[1:11:54] that they need her to help pin Dorland.
[1:11:57] And she had me fooled for a minute.
[1:11:59] Yeah, you thought she might have actually believed her for a
[1:12:01] second. Scully is always a skeptic.
[1:12:04] Yes. Mulder suggests they may have
[1:12:07] just lost their best opportunity to observe spectral phenomena,
[1:12:11] which I don't understand what he means by that.
[1:12:14] I mean, if you're you know that it's tied to Lauren.
[1:12:17] So if you're following her, I mean, I'm not silly if you're
[1:12:20] thinking that right? Like it's.
[1:12:21] What do you mean you're. Yeah, I don't.
[1:12:23] Understand why he's. It was a weird thing to say.
[1:12:25] Scully didn't ruin anything by like, getting her help.
[1:12:29] I don't know. Scully says they have a tangible
[1:12:32] case to solve here and that chasing shadows won't work.
[1:12:36] She said the thing. She said the thing.
[1:12:38] She said the thing the name of the.
[1:12:39] Shadows and we cut to a like garage or parking like thing,
[1:12:48] but there's a team of agents assembled and they're going to
[1:12:52] perform a search of anything that proves that HTG Industries
[1:12:56] had dealings with Isfahan. And there is one FBI agent who
[1:13:00] has no name and we have no idea who he is, but he knew he was
[1:13:03] going to be on camera for like one or two seconds and he made
[1:13:06] sure it counted. His face was, he was like, let's
[1:13:10] go. And his face was real.
[1:13:11] He said. He said get in line.
[1:13:13] That's right, get in line and his face was like crazy.
[1:13:16] There are no small roles, only small actors or whatever.
[1:13:19] And then later he's the, he's the first FBI agent that comes
[1:13:22] around the corner and he's like, he's like a really intense face
[1:13:26] when he does it. But we we cut to the offices and
[1:13:30] there's FBI jackets everywhere and Dorland steps out of his
[1:13:34] office to see what the commotion is and Scully and Lauren step
[1:13:37] into his office, like just moving past them.
[1:13:41] And we jump forward in time a bit and things are not looking
[1:13:44] good. The unnamed tall black agent
[1:13:46] says Dorland is going to walk. Mulder tells Lauren it's time to
[1:13:51] go, but she is hell bent on taking Dorland down.
[1:13:54] She starts like stabbing his pictures and ripping ripping
[1:13:57] stuff. And that's when when she's,
[1:13:59] like, stabbing his pictures and stuff, that's when Dorland
[1:14:01] actually enters into the room and Lauren accuses him and he
[1:14:06] calls her a stupid bitch. Yeah.
[1:14:09] And then she like, runs at him. With a, with a with.
[1:14:13] A ladder. Opener yeah, but she didn't
[1:14:15] that's what she was using to to stab the pictures and cut open
[1:14:18] the backs and stuff, I guess, but it seemed really out of
[1:14:21] place for her to just like try to kill him all of a sudden she.
[1:14:24] Like runs at him and kind of side hugs him and tries to judo
[1:14:28] throw him kind of. Like, my first thought was, Oh,
[1:14:31] well, this is the first time she's seen him since she found
[1:14:32] out that that he murdered Grace. But it's not in the office.
[1:14:36] I said at the party she knew that he murdered Graves and she
[1:14:39] didn't try to attack him or kill him or anything.
[1:14:42] Maybe she's had or failed. Was.
[1:14:43] I know this isn't the way to do it, but then.
[1:14:45] But anyway, after that weird hug judo throw a temp thing, they
[1:14:50] break apart and Dorland is pinned against the wall by
[1:14:53] Howard Graves ghost. The office door slams shut and
[1:14:57] Dorland begins choking while Lauren screams for it to stop.
[1:15:01] Dorland abruptly sinks to the floor and lights begin to
[1:15:04] explode overhead. Mulder and Lauren shield
[1:15:07] themselves from the shrapnel, and this is when Scully rushes
[1:15:10] to the door from the other side. But it won't.
[1:15:12] Budget and pictures start flying off the wall and files spring
[1:15:16] from drawers and the surprise letter opener.
[1:15:20] I I I wrote surprise because I didn't realize it was what she
[1:15:23] was. When you wrote it the first
[1:15:24] time. Yeah, I didn't realize that she
[1:15:26] was hitting the, you know, stabbing the pictures with it or
[1:15:28] whatever. Yeah, but it's levitating in
[1:15:32] front of Dorlan, poised to penetrate.
[1:15:34] What the fuck? Wow, is that his throat or his
[1:15:38] eye? Is that his throat?
[1:15:39] Right. It's like at his throat.
[1:15:40] Yeah, OK. But then it turns, flying into
[1:15:44] and cutting open a section of wallpaper, revealing hidden
[1:15:47] evidence underneath. Yes, however you did skip a
[1:15:50] line, Fluffy. She she says, and she shouts
[1:15:54] into the ether. She says don't kill him, help us
[1:15:58] find it. Yeah.
[1:15:59] And that's when he turns the let her opener around and stabs the
[1:16:03] wall. And which?
[1:16:04] OK. They have A and yeah, it is a
[1:16:06] floppy disk as my mom pointed out, which molder takes out of
[1:16:11] the wall and it cuts to Lauren and there's a badly 80 yard line
[1:16:15] of molder saying, I guess what we're looking for is here after
[1:16:18] all. Yeah, but it's really funny
[1:16:20] because it's like, it's like a big wall that's like covered in
[1:16:24] like a layer of like fabric. Yeah, it's weird.
[1:16:26] How would, how was he gonna? How did he get it there?
[1:16:31] It's just very strange that it's there.
[1:16:34] I, I How is he going to get it when he needed it?
[1:16:36] I don't know. It's stupid.
[1:16:38] It's. Weird.
[1:16:39] Like a whole bunch of put it back up.
[1:16:41] Again, like an anonymous security box at a bank would be
[1:16:43] better. But we cut to a little while
[1:16:48] later, and the agents are walking with Lauren as she
[1:16:51] carries a box of her things to a moving trailer, and Scully tells
[1:16:55] her that the US Attorney's Office is going after Dorland
[1:16:58] with everything they have, including for the murder of
[1:17:01] Howard Graves. Lauren says she'll come back to
[1:17:04] testify if she's needed. She says she's getting the heck
[1:17:07] out of here, though, and promptly does just that.
[1:17:10] Yeah, they're like, she's like bye.
[1:17:12] And she literally they say something, something, something.
[1:17:14] She says thanks and takes off. She doesn't even say bye.
[1:17:18] She. Wants to get the fuck away from
[1:17:20] Howard Graves in the stinky aftershave.
[1:17:23] Howard Graves, his grave. Yeah, they wonder if she's
[1:17:28] getting away from the place or her ghostly guardian Angel, and
[1:17:32] Motor asked only if she's seen the Liberty Bell, because he
[1:17:35] hasn't. She says she has, and says it's
[1:17:38] a big bell with a crack in it and a huge line to see it.
[1:17:42] He still wants to, though, hoping they're still open as
[1:17:45] they drive off into the night. Which, I mean, they're probably
[1:17:47] not. It seems really late, like
[1:17:48] 11:00, right? Oh yeah, it's very late.
[1:17:51] So this scene, it was weird. It kind of gave me goosebumps
[1:17:54] really, because I don't know how to explain it.
[1:17:58] But like when they have these little conversations like this
[1:18:02] where it's just, they're two agents who are friendly with
[1:18:05] each other and just having a little, there's no X file right
[1:18:09] now. They're done with everything
[1:18:11] else. It's just the start of those
[1:18:13] moments where you feel like they're just friends that are
[1:18:17] gonna go hang out and talk about the Liberty Bell.
[1:18:19] It was just a sweet. It was stupid as fuck for him to
[1:18:22] mention the Liberty Bell and all that, but just the the feeling
[1:18:27] of the conversation was really sweet.
[1:18:29] Camaraderie. Yes, exactly.
[1:18:31] Yes. And so as we drive off, we cut
[1:18:35] to Lauren now in Nebraska working at a Nebraska.
[1:18:39] Was she in Nebraska? She said the the Midwest is
[1:18:42] Nebraska in the Midwest is it? Yeah, OK.
[1:18:45] And Nebraska. 'S still in the Midwest.
[1:18:47] It's north of Texas, OK. It's like a few states north of
[1:18:50] Texas or something I think. Have no I really.
[1:18:53] Could be wrong, but I think I'm right.
[1:18:55] Friends, let us know right now where Nebraska is.
[1:18:58] We'll wait. Is the is Nebraska the Midwest?
[1:19:00] What's the answer? They got an answer.
[1:19:03] OK. Wow, thanks for your input.
[1:19:06] Nice one, guys. So we cut to Lauren in Nebraska
[1:19:10] and she's working at an insurance company now, and she
[1:19:13] turns a paper into her boss who berates her for being 25 minutes
[1:19:16] late. It's so Cruella de Villa looking
[1:19:18] boss bitch. Yeah, she's a she's.
[1:19:20] You could just tell she's a bitch.
[1:19:22] You know who she reminded me of? And I never can remember this
[1:19:24] poor actress's name, but she ball breaker, huh?
[1:19:28] Ball breaker? What are you talking about?
[1:19:33] Oh no, I haven't seen Porky's in years.
[1:19:36] I watched it when I was a teenager.
[1:19:37] There's a there's a woman. I hope I see who you're about to
[1:19:40] say. I I think we are.
[1:19:41] Are you thinking about the person from Donnie Darko?
[1:19:44] That's Sparkle Nation. Yes, the yes.
[1:19:47] I wouldn't have been able to tell you Donnie Darko or Spark.
[1:19:49] I was gonna say I was picturing. I was gonna say her name's Grace
[1:19:52] Zabriski, but that is not Grace Zabriski is the person who plays
[1:19:55] Sarah Palmer in Twin Peaks. OK, but similar in similar.
[1:19:59] Vibe, yeah, but Grace was his way cooler.
[1:20:03] But no, she's got the same that like that you think of like old
[1:20:07] head headmistresses of like women's schools who have like
[1:20:10] that ridiculous big bun on the top of their head and their hair
[1:20:14] is always up like that. And they're just really, really
[1:20:16] mean. Like that's like a typical
[1:20:18] thing. I'm thinking of like the Miss
[1:20:20] Trunchbull from Matilda. Say, Miss Trunchbull, I'm so
[1:20:23] glad you. Said similar person, similar
[1:20:25] thing. Yeah, she got that big bun,
[1:20:27] glasses, some Gray in her hair. She's she's making someone eat
[1:20:31] cake. Yes.
[1:20:33] And stand in the closet with shards of glass.
[1:20:35] That was insane. Yeah, Matilda's a good movie.
[1:20:38] Matilda's I want to see the remake I never did.
[1:20:41] They made a remake. Yeah, it came out like 3 or 4
[1:20:44] years ago. We now wanted to watch it.
[1:20:47] I told you 1000 times I wanted to watch it.
[1:20:48] We never did. Not 1000.
[1:20:50] That's a total exaggeration, but a few times.
[1:20:53] I'll tell you 1000 times, OK anyway.
[1:20:59] Next. Next.
[1:21:01] We're about, we're about at the end, actually, right?
[1:21:03] Yeah, so she's berating Lauren for being 25 minutes late and
[1:21:08] the boss's cup of coffee starts shaking.
[1:21:11] But the boss complaints about big trucks going by and shaking
[1:21:15] the building. And she goes.
[1:21:17] Yeah. She breathes a sigh of relief
[1:21:20] and she goes back to her desk, where for a moment she looks
[1:21:23] longingly at the placard she still has from Graves office.
[1:21:27] The fucking today tomorrow is worth whatever more. 1 today is
[1:21:31] worth 2 tomorrow's at least. And then just the two, it's the
[1:21:35] Dash 2 day, it's TO-DA Y and it's TO-MO RROY.
[1:21:41] And it's like, come on. So that was Shadows, the 6th
[1:21:45] episode of The X-Files. Mom, would this episode hook you
[1:21:50] if you were flipping through the channels and watched it all the
[1:21:52] way to the end? Would you watch the next
[1:21:53] episode? As when I would be suspect if
[1:21:59] that came across the scene where I was suspecting that something
[1:22:04] was doing something but you couldn't see it, yes.
[1:22:07] That because that gets you right.
[1:22:09] You love that kind of stuff. So you would have liked this
[1:22:11] episode then? Yeah, Yeah.
[1:22:14] So it's like this is a top episode for you.
[1:22:16] You like it's? A good one.
[1:22:17] It's a pretty good. One, I think it's it's a very.
[1:22:20] Well, what about you? Oh for sure, for sure.
[1:22:24] This. I mean, it's hard to say because
[1:22:26] I feel like in when this was airing on television, No,
[1:22:31] because I was 65, whatever 4. 321. 321 I was born 88 for
[1:22:39] reference, so this I would have been 5/5 and 1/2 here.
[1:22:44] So no technically, but older me who appreciates good television,
[1:22:50] yes definitely this is a top tier, very what I would call
[1:22:56] like the groundwork for what X-Files is.
[1:22:59] Yeah, it's a good, it's a good, it's a good monster of the week.
[1:23:02] Exactly. It's a very.
[1:23:04] I was thinking about it. I am nervous about doing,
[1:23:07] especially when we get into the later seasons with the mythology
[1:23:11] episode of the Syndicate and all them.
[1:23:13] It's gonna be real hard, but you know, we'll.
[1:23:16] We'll do it. You know what it says.
[1:23:17] We do it when it gets confusing because there's some parts where
[1:23:20] I still, we watched so many times.
[1:23:21] I'm still not exactly sure what the whole government part of it
[1:23:24] is. Yeah, and you'll come to
[1:23:26] appreciate that. Friends, we do this flying by
[1:23:29] the seat of our pants. We play it by ear.
[1:23:32] What are the other phrases that mean that thing?
[1:23:34] We're doing it as we do it. So you know this is not polished
[1:23:37] or anything. Come what may.
[1:23:39] Yeah, come what may, we're going to try to do those mythology
[1:23:42] episodes and not devolve into stuttering Mute.
[1:23:45] What? You can't be stuttering in mute,
[1:23:46] can you? Like that one guy from.
[1:23:52] I don't know. Oh, like that one guy from that
[1:23:54] Wang Wang movie that had his tongue cut out?
[1:23:57] Oh, Ricky O yeah. Oh, God, Why?
[1:24:00] But Wang Wang. Wang.
[1:24:02] Oh, you would love Wang Wang. You would love Wing Wing.
[1:24:05] He's this 3 foot tall Filipino guy that made like a James Bond.
[1:24:10] Parody. Kind of a parody movie.
[1:24:12] He called For your hide only. He's literally this tall.
[1:24:17] He's a grown man. He.
[1:24:18] Runs around, he'll he'll, he'll go underneath people's legs and
[1:24:21] kick him in the butt or he'll punch him in the balls.
[1:24:23] And he's adorable. And he gets the women.
[1:24:26] The women are all over Lil Wang Wang.
[1:24:28] Are you going to show her a picture of Lil Wang Wang?
[1:24:31] Wang Wang I've. Probably seen him in a.
[1:24:34] Movie then. I mean he was only really in
[1:24:36] like cheap like Philippines or Thailand.
[1:24:40] Like they would try to like make movies that were like based on
[1:24:44] like popular movies like James Bond's for Your Eyes Only or.
[1:24:47] OK, it's there's they. Had like one about.
[1:24:50] Oh my God. Yeah, there you go.
[1:24:52] That's Wayne. Wayne.
[1:24:53] Oh no. I'm never seen.
[1:24:55] Him you never didn't used to date Wayne Wayne.
[1:24:57] Back in the day. He's literally 3 feet tall but
[1:25:00] look how adorable he is. Wang Wang's my real dad.
[1:25:04] And he made quite a few movies. There's at least two or three of
[1:25:07] them on, so that's good. Yeah, yeah.
[1:25:12] So yeah, if if I were to just be flipping around and settled on
[1:25:16] this to watch it, I think I would definitely be interested
[1:25:18] in watching more if I went in blind for sure.
[1:25:21] Yeah. I mean, Ellen Bledsoe is just a
[1:25:24] hilarious one off character for some reason.
[1:25:27] They were like, yeah, man, just go for it.
[1:25:29] And she went for it. And Lauren's acting is good.
[1:25:33] The plot's pretty good. I mean, there's a couple of
[1:25:36] weird little scenes, but not really.
[1:25:38] I mean, like, I'm going to probably be up at night 20 years
[1:25:42] from now wondering how that guy fell from that ladder and how he
[1:25:45] was positioned up there in an impossible way.
[1:25:48] But besides that, yeah, it's a great episode.
[1:25:50] It really is. Now I have a.
[1:25:51] Question for you. Me, we always like yeah, you.
[1:25:56] We always like to figure out whether or not anything was
[1:25:59] solved in this episode. Was this episode solved or not?
[1:26:02] So technically, yes, Yeah, I think so.
[1:26:07] We don't see the aftermath of the solved stuff.
[1:26:12] Now. The case was solved in the sense
[1:26:15] of they found the information with the Iranian military weapon
[1:26:19] contract stuff which seemed like a very B plot to me.
[1:26:24] Yeah. Kinda very B plot solved.
[1:26:27] They found the proof. I'm assuming they have the
[1:26:30] evidence they're going to to shut them down, file charges,
[1:26:34] etcetera, etcetera. No, I mean how they solve who
[1:26:39] killed the people at the beginning, No.
[1:26:42] Well, they know that it was Howard Graves.
[1:26:44] No, because Howard Graves is dead.
[1:26:46] They do not know. Yeah, but they know that he's
[1:26:48] been doing stuff and they know that he's so.
[1:26:50] They solved the case by saying that a ghost did it.
[1:26:52] Mulder knows it. Well, that's what really
[1:26:55] happened. I know that's what really
[1:26:56] happened, but that's not a solved case.
[1:26:59] Yeah. But this is a 5051.
[1:27:01] There's two cases here. For us, they solved it because
[1:27:04] they helped finish the unfinished business of Howard
[1:27:06] Graves so he could move on and stop messing around with Lauren,
[1:27:09] and they also took down the Robert Dorland or whatever his
[1:27:13] name was. Yeah, yeah.
[1:27:15] Robert. Robert Boringland, right?
[1:27:18] You have some. No, OK.
[1:27:23] You just always look like you have so many things to say.
[1:27:26] So I would say, yeah, they did solve this one.
[1:27:28] OK, we can't say it's solved, but I would like to put an
[1:27:30] asterisk to technically we did not solve who who killed.
[1:27:33] If we get too much in the weeds, they're never going to solve
[1:27:36] anything. We got to give it to them.
[1:27:37] They did their job. OK, OK, OK.
[1:27:41] So. No one's going to jail for those
[1:27:42] murders, though. I mean for the murders of the
[1:27:46] people, like the the people in the van and the sailors in
[1:27:51] Florida, yeah. Yeah, that's true because
[1:27:53] because the company and they don't want service.
[1:27:55] Well, I don't remember anything about a van, but I wrote it
[1:27:57] down. But you know what he it was a
[1:28:02] boat. It wasn't a van.
[1:28:03] I don't know why he she said van at the end.
[1:28:05] It was 2 sailors on a boat in Florida is what they killed and
[1:28:07] they said a van. Oh fuck, maybe they had an
[1:28:09] amphibious vehicle. Like James Bond.
[1:28:12] I'm kidding. Yeah.
[1:28:13] Oh, gosh. But yeah, the technically.
[1:28:21] My mom's straw was squeaking as she drank it.
[1:28:25] Do be squeaking. Do be squeaking.
[1:28:27] You heard it. What that straw do?
[1:28:31] Well, they did. They solve Howard Grace's
[1:28:32] murder, I'm assuming. I don't know if there's any
[1:28:35] going to be any evidence, but that dude's going to end up
[1:28:38] going to jail for sure. For sure, I thought.
[1:28:40] He, I thought. He was killed.
[1:28:44] Who? Oh, no, no, no, he was.
[1:28:46] No, he he almost killed him, but then he decided to reveal.
[1:28:49] The evidence, yeah. And he's the one who killed
[1:28:52] Graves in the bathtub, but I don't know if there's any
[1:28:55] evidence of that. Besides, she was told by a ghost
[1:28:57] that that's what happened. Friends, do you think it was
[1:28:59] solved? I guess you can.
[1:29:01] You can e-mail us at Gen. X-Files pod at Gmail.
[1:29:05] Was that it? I always forget I need to check
[1:29:07] again Gen. X-Files pod all one word at
[1:29:11] Gmail dot. Com.genxfilespodalloneword@gmail.com
[1:29:16] not the all one word part. Don't type that in.
[1:29:18] You won't get to usbutgenxfilespod@gmail.com.
[1:29:22] What they said. So, and that'll be cool.
[1:29:25] I can share you what people say and stuff.
[1:29:29] Yeah. So the next thing is we like to,
[1:29:34] we have an ongoing contest here at Gen.
[1:29:37] X-Files where we each episode we discuss who our MVP is.
[1:29:42] And at the end of the season, we are going to tally up the votes
[1:29:47] and figure out who our Most Valuable Player of the season
[1:29:50] is. And that person is going to be
[1:29:52] rewarded with an all expenses paid trip to the moon, which is
[1:29:57] actually, you can look it up, the reason why Artemis 2 had to
[1:30:00] go around the moon to make sure it was OK for whoever's going to
[1:30:03] be going up there. Yeah, they're preparing, right?
[1:30:05] They're preparing the space around the moon for travel.
[1:30:08] Yeah, making it nicer, cleaning up space.
[1:30:11] Cleaning it up, the debris and all that, that makes sense.
[1:30:14] So, Mom, who was your MVP for this episode of The X-Files?
[1:30:19] It's Mr. Gray's, hands down. Yeah, and I'm just going to give
[1:30:25] you a spoiler now. That's my answer and I already
[1:30:27] know your answer. Do you?
[1:30:29] I do know your answer. Do you want me to guess?
[1:30:31] Well, hold on, let me give Mr. Graves his too.
[1:30:35] Give the give Graves his too. OK, who is my MVP?
[1:30:40] Ellen Bledsoe. Ellen Bledsoe, baby, I'll be
[1:30:44] honest with you. I was torn because she is a
[1:30:48] great character. Her face, oh gosh.
[1:30:51] But I mean, Howard Graves, if it wasn't for Howard Graves, none
[1:30:55] of this nothing would have happened.
[1:30:57] A bunch more people would be dead and The X-Files wouldn't
[1:31:00] even be involved. So that put that puts Howard
[1:31:03] Graves tied with Frank, the detective from Tombs that was
[1:31:07] very old, and Mulder, which is funny.
[1:31:12] Mulder's only got 2, but in the lead it's still Scully with four
[1:31:16] points, and that's because she did that badass role in the last
[1:31:19] episode. And we all gave her a point for
[1:31:21] that one. Yes, we do.
[1:31:22] Deservedly so. I gotta say, there's a very,
[1:31:25] very good chance that it's either gonna be Mulder or Scully
[1:31:28] at the end. It looks like it's gonna be
[1:31:29] Scully. Unless Mulder pulls his damn
[1:31:32] weight around here, yeah. Well, as soon as we see him
[1:31:35] really cry hard for the first time maybe.
[1:31:38] Yeah, that's right. So and in 3rd place is Seth
[1:31:42] Green with three. So there's that.
[1:31:47] Seth Green, I don't think he'll win, but maybe, maybe he'll pull
[1:31:50] through in the end. Who knows?
[1:31:52] Spoiler alert, I'm pretty sure he's not.
[1:31:54] Another episode. No, he's not.
[1:31:57] But yeah, so that's our MVP for this episode.
[1:32:01] Your guys's is Howard Graves minds out Alan Bledsoe.
[1:32:05] Yes, Hourly Bledsoe. I should make a one of those
[1:32:09] Instagram accounts that post a picture of Ellen Bledsoe every
[1:32:13] hour. There's not that many pictures,
[1:32:14] so it would be a short lived account, but repeat.
[1:32:18] So another segment we like to do here at the end is the damage
[1:32:22] report, where we examine the damage that has happened to our
[1:32:25] two agents throughout the episode.
[1:32:27] And at the end of the season we talk about how high their doctor
[1:32:31] bills would have been for everything that's happened to
[1:32:33] them thus far. This episode, though, I don't
[1:32:36] think anything. I can't.
[1:32:38] Think of nothing. No.
[1:32:39] I don't think anyone got injured or.
[1:32:42] I mean, they got into a car accident, but.
[1:32:45] They were, obviously. Very fine.
[1:32:47] OK, OK, OK. But they did get checked out.
[1:32:50] They both got checked out by medical people.
[1:32:52] Yeah. So that's the damage report
[1:32:55] because damage report is about medical bills, right?
[1:32:57] Yeah. So that's definitely that stuff.
[1:33:00] They didn't get hurt. No, she had a really bad, she
[1:33:03] had a excuse me, I quote ADMV line sized headache and he said
[1:33:11] I got you beat. I got an IRS sized headache.
[1:33:14] OK, so we can add a bottle of Excedrin for both of.
[1:33:18] Them yes 2 bottles of Excedrin and the the check up medical
[1:33:23] bill. Yeah, I mean, that's about it.
[1:33:26] Yeah, that's got to be it. So yeah.
[1:33:29] That was a cheap, cheap medical episode.
[1:33:31] Yeah, last one wasn't, but this one very much is.
[1:33:36] So after all that, we usually like to tell my mom the name of
[1:33:40] the next episode and let her guess based on the name, and we
[1:33:43] give her a totally accurate description of what actually
[1:33:45] happens in the episode. Of course, she's probably going
[1:33:48] to be wrong. Would you know?
[1:33:49] Would you like to know the name of the next episode?
[1:33:51] Yes, the next episode is called Ghost in the Machine.
[1:33:56] Ghost in the machine. I know exactly.
[1:33:58] I know exactly what it is. All right, let's hear it.
[1:34:01] It's Zoltar. Big.
[1:34:05] Yeah, Zoltar's going to come to land again.
[1:34:08] That's a That's a hilarious guess.
[1:34:10] I've not thought about the movie Big starring Tom Hanks in years.
[1:34:13] That's an awesome movie, actually.
[1:34:16] Doesn't the woman sleep with the kid when he's Tom Hanks?
[1:34:20] Yeah, I think so. OK, listen, it's still a grown
[1:34:26] man. Yeah.
[1:34:29] I mean, it is weird. Yeah.
[1:34:31] No, no, he's told her, but she doesn't believe him.
[1:34:37] OK. OK.
[1:34:38] It's later when she believes him and I think the moment she
[1:34:42] believes him. Spoiler for the movie Big good
[1:34:45] God if you haven't seen it yet, what are you even doing with
[1:34:47] your life? But.
[1:34:48] They're waiting for the 50th anniversary.
[1:34:50] At the very end, when he uses the machine and becomes a boy
[1:34:54] again and walks away wearing a suit that's too big and she sees
[1:34:58] that happen, That's the moment she.
[1:35:00] Actually believes and then she drops him off back at his house.
[1:35:03] Like it's so weird. It's a very straight.
[1:35:06] It's very straight. My favorite part of that movie,
[1:35:08] though, is when he's at that party for the company he works
[1:35:12] at or something, and someone's passing around like finger food
[1:35:16] and there's those little pieces of corn and he gets it and
[1:35:19] starts. It's like, you know, the tiny
[1:35:21] corn, baby corn. He starts eating it very slow.
[1:35:24] Like you eat corn of the cow, but it's like the corn of the
[1:35:26] cow that you get in like the the Asian stir fry and stuff.
[1:35:29] Yes. I don't even know what they're
[1:35:30] are they just called baby corn. OK, I never liked those very
[1:35:34] much. You're you're that's a good
[1:35:36] guess, mom, but you're actually completely wrong.
[1:35:38] What happens in Ghost in the Machine is there's a haunted
[1:35:41] machine at the laundromat that Molder goes to and it changed
[1:35:46] his clothes into a bunch of toddler outfits.
[1:35:49] But through sheer determination and investigative know how
[1:35:52] Molder is able to figure out the truth, He accidentally stole
[1:35:55] some kids laundry. That makes sense.
[1:35:59] OK. I could see his little blade,
[1:36:03] miniature Blazers and stuff. I really, really, really thought
[1:36:08] you were going to say that through sheer determination or
[1:36:11] whatever. Yeah, through sheer
[1:36:12] determination. He wore the clothes.
[1:36:14] Anyway, looking like Frank Weston Dead Rising when he goes
[1:36:22] into the kids store and puts on the clothes.
[1:36:26] It's like a tiny little suit jacket that's like ripped in the
[1:36:29] bag and it's just like the sleeves are cutting into his
[1:36:31] arms and high waters. It's so tight, his arms are
[1:36:35] like. His arms are all the way back
[1:36:37] 'cause he can't put his arms through.
[1:36:40] The pants are actually like booty shorts on them.
[1:36:43] So I guess all that's left to do now is Mom.
[1:36:48] What's one thing that made you happy this week?
[1:36:51] One thing that made me happy this week is that Scully, Scully
[1:36:59] is that Foxy got up in my chair with me.
[1:37:03] Oh see, that's so funny you did that because our old dog was
[1:37:07] named Scully and. Mentally said it.
[1:37:09] And I have. I've almost called her Scully a
[1:37:13] handful of time. I start with this and then I
[1:37:15] stopped myself. You have actually referred to
[1:37:17] her as Scully twice that I remember.
[1:37:20] You want to know what I actually called her for real?
[1:37:22] This isn't even a joke, I said. Say Jane.
[1:37:26] Oh my God, your granddaughter. Sadie Jane is my granddaughter.
[1:37:29] 'S I'm surprised you, I'm surprised you didn't call her
[1:37:31] Daisy. Lay down Sadie Jane.
[1:37:33] I I wouldn't be surprised if you refer to her as Daisy every now
[1:37:36] and then and forget Oh mom, but. Well, what's one thing that made
[1:37:41] you happy this week? The.
[1:37:42] Concert. Yeah, that's what I was gonna
[1:37:45] say. I win.
[1:37:47] No, you could. You could say the oops, you can
[1:37:49] see the James Bond bar. That was really cool.
[1:37:50] Oh. Yeah, yeah.
[1:37:52] I mean, you didn't like the drink.
[1:37:53] Let's just be honest. No, it was great.
[1:37:54] I did love getting to go to a place that's James Bond themed
[1:37:59] and all the drinks were like had James Bond names like Golden
[1:38:03] Girl or Mayday or. Pussy Galore.
[1:38:06] Pussy galore Casino Royale vesper, obviously.
[1:38:09] And you But you didn't even get to tell them what you got to do
[1:38:12] when you ordered your drink. What did you say?
[1:38:13] Oh, I told him I wanted to shake and not stirred.
[1:38:16] Yes, he did. And she did.
[1:38:18] You know what? First of all, bartender lady.
[1:38:21] She had big old knockers, let's just say.
[1:38:24] And I walked her at the bar, 1 shaker in one hand, 1 shaker in
[1:38:29] the other hand perfectly. Like she was so fast and so and
[1:38:35] her boobs weren't moving at all. I just realized something.
[1:38:38] But. Last week we watched the episode
[1:38:40] where that Bigfoot had big old knockers.
[1:38:43] That's why its feet are so big to off balance the big tits.
[1:38:47] Oh, if his feet weren't so big that that makes sense.
[1:38:50] The knockers knock him over. Her boobs probably weren't
[1:38:53] moving because they're plastic. Yeah, that's what I was
[1:38:55] thinking. That's what I told him.
[1:38:58] Her tips are dead wrapped in plastic.
[1:39:01] Wrapped in plastic. That's a Twin Peaks thing you
[1:39:04] wouldn't get. It somebody used to say that
[1:39:06] Pamela Anderson, now I think she's a wonderful woman, but
[1:39:10] somebody used to say Pamela Anderson would melt in the fire.
[1:39:15] There's a lot not real on her. I mean, I feel like I'm being
[1:39:19] judgmental. I am almost 38 years old and I
[1:39:24] feel like I don't look like I'm 38 years old, but I feel like by
[1:39:27] the time I hit an age where I start to see stuff happening on
[1:39:30] my face, I'm going to want to get something done.
[1:39:33] Yeah, I don't know for sure if I will, so I'm not trying to be
[1:39:36] judgmental. I would totally, but I wouldn't
[1:39:38] want to ever look like I have work.
[1:39:40] Done right, he wanted to be subtle.
[1:39:42] Yeah, side note, my neck is 90. Oh yeah, she one time somebody
[1:39:49] told her she had the neck of a 90 year old.
[1:39:51] No, don't you have this? You have part of your neck
[1:39:53] replaced with metal. I had my neck, I had to have
[1:39:55] surgery on my neck and the doctor said you have the neck of
[1:39:57] a 70 year old and I think it's been, has it been 20 years?
[1:40:01] No, it's been 16. Almost, yeah.
[1:40:05] I was 39. You got an 80. 6 year old man.
[1:40:10] So 39 + 16 is your. You're 45.
[1:40:14] Sure. Yeah, that's.
[1:40:16] Right, you're 45. You're 4 + 5 is 9, so you're
[1:40:18] actually nine years old. You're you're only you're only
[1:40:22] seven years older than your daughter-in-law.
[1:40:24] That's. What my granddaughters want,
[1:40:27] they're. Ten Oh my God, it's the new
[1:40:30] slime of this, yes. It's ridiculous.
[1:40:32] It's always something. So one thing.
[1:40:35] Why can't it be fidget spinners? They were cheap I.
[1:40:38] Know they had like 3 months. They were popular.
[1:40:40] They know ironically it's only $5.95 but people have bought it
[1:40:46] out of everywhere, put it on eBay and I had to pay 20 or $25
[1:40:51] for a $5 thing. Just wait until it's available
[1:40:55] somewhere else. What do you mean?
[1:40:56] Wait, she wanted it for her birthday?
[1:40:58] I got hey, grandparents have to deliver honey.
[1:41:02] That's what parents depend on. They'd be like damn, I hope my I
[1:41:06] hope my mom and dad gets it because I ain't get paying
[1:41:10] $20.00 for my needle. I wouldn't have paid $20.00 for
[1:41:14] it either way, I said. We're going to go in the kitchen
[1:41:16] and make something with some flour and dough or something.
[1:41:19] I would just buy some Play DoH and put it in a different bag
[1:41:21] and be like here you go. Write needle on it.
[1:41:25] And needle mark? One thing that made me happy
[1:41:29] this week is obviously the concert in the James Bond bar.
[1:41:34] Getting the episode done was incredible for me.
[1:41:37] That was like a weight off the shoulders kind of thing cuz he's
[1:41:38] been putting it off. Yeah.
[1:41:40] Let's be honest a little bit putting it off cuz.
[1:41:42] Friends, I'm a bit of a procrastinator, and you'll find
[1:41:45] that out about me the more you listen.
[1:41:47] Yes, we're only on episode 6, right?
[1:41:51] Now we could be on a lot more, but we're, we're, we're making
[1:41:53] it too. OK, that's OK.
[1:41:55] Yeah, but also just being able to hang out in downtown Atlanta
[1:41:59] and just smoke some weed on on the corner, just hanging out
[1:42:01] with people at a bar. Oh yeah, we, that's right.
[1:42:04] I forget about the whole part of our trip.
[1:42:05] We so there's a bar that we go to that we went to a concert
[1:42:09] there last early last year and we liked it so much and we were
[1:42:13] able to hang outside with the, with the, the bouncer guys,
[1:42:16] security guy, whatever. And he ended up being really
[1:42:18] cool. And he's like, yeah, you could
[1:42:20] smoke. I hear just everyone smoke, just
[1:42:21] smokes. Whatever outside.
[1:42:23] Don't no one cares. And so we whenever we go to a
[1:42:26] concert now, we stop by that bar afterwards and sit in the back
[1:42:30] and smoke and we run into him every time we go there too.
[1:42:34] And he's always so excited to see us.
[1:42:35] Like he all my friends came to see me and he's so excited about
[1:42:38] it. It's a little weird, but he's
[1:42:39] still cool. But then someone told us.
[1:42:41] About them guys that kind of makes friends with everybody.
[1:42:44] He's the coolest in case he's listening.
[1:42:50] You haven't met him, but he is cool and if he is listening,
[1:42:53] he'll know. He'll know.
[1:42:54] We'll send them a link to this one day, but someone told us
[1:42:57] about this place called the Food Hall.
[1:42:59] It's basically like the food court in a mall but without the
[1:43:03] mall. It's just like a building you
[1:43:05] walk into and there's like 6 or 7 different little fronts of
[1:43:09] restaurants. Like in a mall, there's a cheese
[1:43:11] steak, pizza, ice cream, sliders, something else.
[1:43:16] Well, that's, you know, your basic stuff for that.
[1:43:18] So like she's doing the Pepto Bismol, but we went in there.
[1:43:20] Steak, burgers, Gonorrhea, but. You were.
[1:43:26] You were popping your arm up. But no, there was like, it was
[1:43:36] like 3:00 in the they closed at 4:00.
[1:43:38] We learned. Yeah, it was like 2:00 to 3:00
[1:43:40] in the morning when we showed up.
[1:43:41] I don't know exactly what time it was.
[1:43:43] It was like 2 something place was filled with people.
[1:43:46] And people were not all. The restaurants were open, but
[1:43:49] most of them were. And people were just rolling up
[1:43:51] in the restaurant. I was like, damn man, I.
[1:43:53] Literally walked up to the skies, guys and girls standing
[1:43:56] in front of the slider place. And I was like, didn't notice it
[1:43:58] first, but I was like, yeah, what is this?
[1:44:00] Why? We're just trying to figure out
[1:44:01] what we want to eat and you guys got your recommendations or
[1:44:03] whatever. And dude was like, yeah man,
[1:44:05] these guys got sliders. They're 8 bucks, but damn,
[1:44:07] they're really good. And over there they got this and
[1:44:09] that. And, and as he's talking, I'm
[1:44:11] looking, I was like, oh, he's, he's just standing there leaning
[1:44:13] against the wall rolling a blunt.
[1:44:16] And I was just like, hey, that's awesome.
[1:44:19] It's a different type of place, but so is there anything you
[1:44:22] would like to tell these people before we get out of here,
[1:44:25] Mel's? We love you and we think you're
[1:44:30] awesome, and you can tell us all of your weird and ridiculous
[1:44:35] theories and thoughts about each episode in the comments or in
[1:44:39] our e-mail that'll be linked somewhere.
[1:44:42] I think we pretty much got the gist of everything, yeah.
[1:44:46] Yeah. Go ahead.
[1:44:47] No, I didn't have anything, but I think you are the coolest to
[1:44:55] listen to us. Is there anything else you want
[1:44:58] to tell everybody? Most.
[1:45:03] I'm sorry and if. You're still here.
[1:45:08] You turn into me. If you are still listening, then
[1:45:12] you are a friend. made this.
