In this third episode of our rewatch of The X-Files, Melz and Dash (long-time fans, couple) and Angel (first-time watcher, Dash's mom) are crawling into Squeeze to investigate local weirdo Eugene Victor Tooms for the first Monster of the Week episode! We're helped along the way by a very career-driven Gotham City cop who has a... very special place in his heart for Mulder. And speaking of help, we're squeezing in an extra helping of ridiculousness this week. We try to track down Donal Logue's D, examine the immense will-they-won't-they energy between him and Mulder, and ask the most important question of all: How long and skinny do it get? If you're reading this, you're a friend. Questions, suggestions, hypnoregressions? Shoot us an email at GenXFilesPod@gmail.com

## Transcript

[0:00] Welcome to Gen. X-Files, the only podcast named
[0:03] that that's exclusively about The X-Files.
[0:07] I'm Angel and this is my first watch.
[0:10] I'm Dash and this is my third or fourth watch.
[0:14] And I'm Mel's and this is also my third and or 4th watch.
[0:19] And if you're listening, I want to believe you're a friend.
[0:23] And tonight we're finding out what Mr. Fantastic would be like
[0:26] if he was a terrible person. All right.
[0:44] So how are you guys doing? Fine, how are y'all doing?
[0:47] Doing pretty good. How about you, Mel?
[0:50] I'm doing great. My, my, my, my slight ankle
[0:54] injury from a few weeks ago was healing up a little bit.
[0:56] That's good. I feel like I can walk a little
[0:58] more normal now. You just, you know what you got
[1:00] to do? You got to stretch it.
[1:02] Yeah, stretch it, stretch it. Yeah, you got to squeeze it and
[1:05] stretch it. Squeeze it and stretch it.
[1:07] Squeeze it and stretch it real hard.
[1:09] Sounds like we're talking about something else.
[1:12] How about you Dash? How are you doing?
[1:15] I'm doing pretty good. I'm ready to talk about this
[1:18] incredibly strange and fantastic episode of The X-Files that is a
[1:22] fan favorite. Yes, yes, it's one of those
[1:25] episodes that's mentioned among the the fan averse of The
[1:29] X-Files. That's not a thing, is it?
[1:31] Yeah, and I, I have a terrible time.
[1:34] This is kind of a spoiler, but you should I say.
[1:38] I mean it, it's, you don't have to give anything away to the to
[1:42] it, but you can still mention it.
[1:44] Do you know what I mean? It happens.
[1:46] It happens a few times with a few characters, so it's OK.
[1:48] Yeah, so I get this episode confused with another episode
[1:53] later in Season 1 where Tooms does return.
[1:56] I'm not going to spoil it past that, but he does come back and
[1:59] that episode is called Tombs. This episode is called Squeeze,
[2:03] and I get him confused all the time.
[2:04] I was talking to my friend Eric and he was absolutely getting
[2:09] confused too. And I was like, no, I think
[2:11] that's, I think it's squeezed is Oh yeah, it is called squeeze.
[2:14] We had a whole thing. It is it.
[2:16] It's in season 1 that it's the oh, I thought it was lighter.
[2:19] And that is where you meet another fan favorite character,
[2:25] which we won't talk about the buffest bald man there's ever
[2:29] been. Yes, OK, alright.
[2:31] Love. We'll see.
[2:32] We'll see if your mom is a crush on him X.
[2:35] Episode I really do. Yeah, spoilers for Would you
[2:38] keep watching this? Flipping channel with.
[2:40] Me. I think that might be the
[2:41] consensus. Yeah, this is a definitely.
[2:45] It feels like the first classically X-Files X-Files
[2:49] episode. Yeah.
[2:50] Like when you think of what an X-Files episode is, this is the
[2:53] kind of episode you think. It's the perfect monster of the
[2:56] week like example and it's the first one.
[2:59] And it has the classic them walking through the door
[3:04] flashlight scene from the opening credits.
[3:08] Then when they walk through the door with the flashlights,
[3:10] that's the scene that's in the credits for the theme song.
[3:12] OK. Yeah.
[3:14] Yeah, it's so it's, it's got that moment too.
[3:16] So what's been keeping you up at night, Mom?
[3:18] What have you been watching lately?
[3:21] Yeah, Any movies or shows lately?
[3:23] Well y'all know I'm I've just finished the first season of
[3:28] Orphan Black, but I have my daughter and my sister saying oh
[3:33] you need to watch Bridgerton, oh you need to watch this and that
[3:37] and I don't, I don't know how many shows I'm going to be
[3:40] watching it one time, but I think I'm going to stick until
[3:44] Orphan Black. I mean, it feels like, OK, so
[3:47] listen, it feels like sometimes, especially with certain people
[3:50] in your life, if they're going to ask you to watch a show and,
[3:53] you know, when they ask you later, Oh, you watched it?
[3:56] Yeah. What you think of it?
[3:57] What's your response going to be?
[3:59] Oh, it was really good. And that's going to be the end
[4:01] of your conversation. Do you want to spend 12 hours
[4:03] watching 12/1 hour episodes of a show you don't really want to
[4:07] watch just so you can tell your sister or your cousin?
[4:10] Oh yeah, it was good. Or do you want to take a
[4:12] shortcut and lie? Yeah, that's what I was getting
[4:15] at. Just lie.
[4:16] My sister and my daughter are all about the Bridgerton.
[4:20] Oh my God. I.
[4:21] Don't know, my daughter might be over it by now.
[4:25] She gets over stuff quick. I.
[4:27] Think it's coming out with a movie in the final season, I
[4:29] think. I don't know.
[4:31] I don't. Isn't Bridgeton the one with Wow
[4:35] Gillian Anderson or am I thinking of something else?
[4:38] The one where she plays like a. Gillian Anderson playing
[4:41] Margaret. She played Margaret Thatcher in
[4:43] the Crown in the 80s, I think. I could be wrong.
[4:48] Yeah, Margaret Thatcher was the Prime Minister of England in the
[4:51] 80s, I think. I thought even the show was in
[4:53] the 80s. No.
[4:54] Because I was talking about something the show.
[4:55] Takes place from like Queen Elizabeth's whole life she
[4:58] would. Have been a little kid in the
[4:59] 80s. Julian Anderson.
[5:01] Yeah, that conversation went for a loop.
[5:04] I was like, the Queen definitely wouldn't have been a kid in the
[5:06] 80s. She's been old since I've been
[5:08] young. Oh yeah, talk about a wrinkled
[5:14] Raisin. Lord, how old is she now?
[5:17] I don't. Want to tell us about the time
[5:20] that you had tea with her mom? Well, I spilled the tea, of
[5:25] course, in many different ways. Oh my God, you're so corny.
[5:32] I love it. Well, you guys want to talk
[5:35] about the episode? Nah, let's go home.
[5:38] Yeah. All right, we're going.
[5:40] Goodbye. It's the end.
[5:43] Goodbye. So this aired.
[5:46] This is called Squeeze the episode.
[5:48] It's the third episode, the first season of The X-Files.
[5:51] It was directed by Harry Longstreet and he didn't do much
[5:56] of anything that I could tell. Like I, I don't think he did
[6:01] much of anything outside of directing a couple of like
[6:04] straight to TV movies. I was looking it up.
[6:06] Yeah, there was like, there was like those random like you ever,
[6:10] I don't know what they always are, but there's like when
[6:13] someone is involved in like a mainstream movie of some sort,
[6:16] you look at their IMDb page, when you get towards the bottom,
[6:19] there's like a bunch of like related to that mainstream movie
[6:25] series stuff that looks like weird documentary esque things.
[6:31] Yeah, they're just on their IMDb page, like movies, but it's
[6:33] just, it's not anything. And like I feel like that's what
[6:37] his looks. Like, yeah, it's really weird,
[6:39] like filler, like stuff that came on like the Lifetime or
[6:42] Hallmark Channel. Yeah, but it was written by
[6:46] Glenn Morgan and James Wong, who have done many episodes, I'm
[6:51] pretty sure. I I'm not sure if this is their
[6:54] first. Yeah, it's their first.
[6:55] Right, 'cause I think Chris Carter wrote the pilot, and then
[6:58] I think Chris Carter wrote the second. 1 it it I don't know if
[7:01] you already if you had this written down, but I told you
[7:03] some interesting facts about this one.
[7:05] Did you write them down or am I going to have to fill you in
[7:07] because I you? Might have to fill me in.
[7:09] OK well you might already have it written down so if you do
[7:11] then well I guess you can skip it next time.
[7:13] But from what I understand, if I remember correctly, this is the
[7:16] one where this was the first episode written for the show.
[7:19] Yeah, yeah, you told me that. And and there was.
[7:21] I can't remember which names it happened with, but there was
[7:24] creative differences and one of them wrote most of the beginning
[7:28] parts and the and then the other one did rewrites and reshoots
[7:33] later without him there because they they had created
[7:35] differences on it. I know Glenn and.
[7:37] I sent you a screenshot of the little article I found about.
[7:40] It I'm pretty sure they did both work on later episodes, but I
[7:43] guess they might not have worked together or.
[7:45] Yeah, 'cause it said, 'cause it said there was 2 writers that
[7:48] work together and then and then there was someone who just did
[7:51] the reshoots late. I don't know what's.
[7:52] The name in addition to writing a couple of episodes of The
[7:56] X-Files later down the road, they also I don't know if they
[8:00] wrote to get like are they if they're writing team or
[8:02] whatever, but when I looked it up, it said they had also wrote
[8:06] the found us a couple of the found destination.
[8:08] Was it both of them or just James Wong?
[8:10] I don't remember, I think it was just.
[8:12] James Wong. I took my notes really shittily
[8:14] so. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the
[8:17] other guy isn't involved in anything.
[8:18] It's James Wong who did the found destination movies, among
[8:21] other mainstream stuff that people would recognize.
[8:24] I just can't think of them. Are you getting them confused
[8:26] with with James Wan who directed the Saw movies and Insidious and
[8:30] that awful Malignant? Movie.
[8:31] No, I'm saying the guy who directed the found Destination
[8:33] movies also directed some other movies that are also bigger
[8:36] movies. OK, have you ever seen
[8:37] malignant? Oh God, I don't.
[8:40] Think so. Don't.
[8:42] Spoilers for Malignant, but basically.
[8:44] Spoilers skip ahead one minute. This girl, she has a ingrown,
[8:51] yeah, she an ingrown brother. That's what.
[8:54] It is basically, yeah, he's like coming out of the back of her.
[8:57] And yeah, they, she had him removed when she was a kid or
[9:01] something or they tried to. But you find out that he's been
[9:03] taking over her body and there's a scene in the movie where she's
[9:07] been put in jail and her other her like he's a conjoined her
[9:13] conjoined twin. Yeah, it's a conjoined twin, but
[9:16] it's just a face coming out of the back of her head.
[9:19] Yeah, it's like parasitic. And what happens is she she
[9:24] turns around and it's that face and she starts attacking and
[9:28] killing people with her arms behind her back.
[9:31] And it's it's really, really ridiculous.
[9:34] It's it's it's. With her arms.
[9:36] Yeah. Do her arms be like go the other
[9:41] way? Well, like, I, I don't know,
[9:43] it's really stupid, but I think when the malignant creature
[9:47] takes over her body, she becomes like super strength because even
[9:51] though she's doing like this weird stuff, she's like throwing
[9:55] them across the room. Yeah, that.
[9:57] Would be creepy looking. It is, but it's.
[9:59] So badly done that it's it's just you're watching and you're
[10:03] just like, oh, this looks like shit.
[10:07] Like it just looks so bad. It's really, but it looks the
[10:10] way she's. I just, I wish I could say males
[10:14] right now. No, it's really bad the way she
[10:17] does it. You gotta watch she's.
[10:19] Trying to demonstrate. You got it.
[10:21] You got to watch it. Just maybe look up a clip of how
[10:25] ridiculous it is. It's terrible.
[10:26] Yeah, but yeah, not that. Anyway, tangent.
[10:30] Not that. James Wan.
[10:31] James Wong, but. You were wrong about which
[10:36] wrong. I was wrong about the whole
[10:38] thing. So anyway, we start this episode
[10:41] following a businessman and we keep focusing on a storm drain
[10:46] and I think mom had some notes about the storm drain.
[10:50] Why are we looking at this gutter so much?
[10:53] Hold up. Wait.
[10:54] A man. Oh, hell.
[10:55] Now somebody's down there with some glowing eyes, honey.
[11:00] Looking like Pennywise the Clown.
[11:04] Is this where you is this the scene where you I can't remember
[11:07] if in this thing you see where his lips are like he's like he
[11:10] has very pursed lips a lot of the time.
[11:12] If you notice that his lips are a little.
[11:14] Because he's about to taste some liver onions.
[11:16] It looks like he's purpose. I don't know if you notice it,
[11:18] but he's purposely doing the just trying to make your lips
[11:21] look a little bigger by like. Yeah, when?
[11:24] You talk. Yeah, Why does he do that?
[11:26] It's very strange. He needed the Kylie Jenner lip
[11:29] kit. But his eyes are uncannily weird
[11:34] white in this scene, right? His eyes are multiple different.
[11:37] They're like yellow, they're like jaundice are.
[11:39] They yellow in this one 'cause there's his eyes are normal,
[11:42] sometimes they're white, sometimes they're yellow,
[11:43] sometimes I don't know, I can't. Remember which was regular brown
[11:46] and then yellow? Like they're poop brown and then
[11:49] pee yellow. But anyway, we see this business
[11:53] guy make a phone call to his wife at 8:30 and I guess his
[11:57] last name is Usher. So he's about to tell us his
[12:00] confessions. Yeah.
[12:02] But give me your. Confessions.
[12:05] We cut to a vent and we see a screw being turned by itself, I
[12:10] guess is what it looks. Like the inside, That was my
[12:14] thought, but I guess with this show, yeah.
[12:17] And then the let. Me.
[12:18] Let me clarify a tiny vent. Yeah, very, very.
[12:23] Small like 3 by 9 is what I would say, although they say
[12:27] later. They say 6 by 18.
[12:29] There's no way that's 18 inches long.
[12:31] That's what she said. But it's like this.
[12:34] It's like a foot Max. There's no way it's 18 inches.
[12:38] The screw falls to the ground and then we see the vent open
[12:42] and a filthy hand come out of it.
[12:43] Oh my God, the fingernails. Is that when I say something out
[12:47] because y'all know how I have a pet fever about dirty nails?
[12:50] Oh, yeah, if you mentioned something about The Dirty nails,
[12:53] you see his nails a few times, but this is the first time his
[12:55] nails are very, very prominent. And I commented when we watched
[12:58] it, I was like, EW, his fingernails are a hell of dirty.
[13:02] Like it's it. I said wash your hands, honey.
[13:06] Yeah, it literally looks like they like gave him a pile of
[13:09] dirt and said dig in the dirt for the little bit before this
[13:12] scene because like it's it's dug in in every crevice of his
[13:16] finger. It's really nasty.
[13:18] Yeah, it's, yeah, it's a lot of dirt.
[13:21] But the man gets some coffee and goes back to his office and all
[13:25] of a sudden the door slams and we hear a kerfuffle.
[13:28] And a scream. Yeah, the door breaks from some
[13:30] kind of impact. Is it A Wilhelm Scream on that
[13:32] one? I don't think.
[13:34] I feel like you might write that down if you're on a Wilhelm
[13:35] screen. When?
[13:36] You. Yeah, because I I know what that
[13:37] is. Do you know the Wilhelm screen?
[13:38] No, I. Don't.
[13:39] Yes, you do. You definitely have.
[13:41] You definitely know it. You can't do it right now, no.
[13:43] No, no, no. No 109 is like.
[13:47] It's the very, very famous scream sound that like everybody
[13:51] knows. That they never came from Star
[13:53] Wars. I can't quite do it either.
[13:55] Indiana Jones I'm sure a ton of other make most likely in a
[13:59] James Bond or two. Or in every single one of them,
[14:03] probably. Jurassic Park.
[14:04] It's been in damn every day. Definitely in all the Pierce
[14:06] Brosnan ones. Yeah.
[14:08] I feel like that's definitely where they would be if they're
[14:09] anywhere. But it's very famous.
[14:12] You would if you heard it. You'd be like, OK I've heard
[14:13] that scream 1000 times. So we pan across his desk and
[14:18] the business guy is laying there dead.
[14:21] And then we cut over to the yeah, I think so.
[14:24] And then we cut over to the vent and we see it screw itself back
[14:27] into place. And then we get the credits.
[14:30] Which I gotta say, from the inside, unscrewing it, I get it.
[14:36] Screwing it back in that has got to be so hard so.
[14:41] Listen, I. Have a pull a screw.
[14:43] I have a question. How exactly?
[14:45] Because they never really tell us how exactly elastic is this
[14:49] dude. I guess we're spoiler.
[14:53] He's elastic, that's what. I'm saying yeah.
[14:56] Because his fingerprints like this, but like I thought about
[14:58] like could he stretch to like the size of a hot dog but like.
[15:04] What the? Way longer.
[15:08] How long and skinny can he get is what I'm getting.
[15:13] That's what all like hip girls are asking.
[15:16] Serious though, like he he can stretch and like he can slim out
[15:21] so. In 2017 we were asking what that
[15:23] mouth do. Now in 2026 we're saying, can he
[15:26] get long and skinny? Dough can.
[15:28] He get long and skinny dough because.
[15:33] Like. Could he fit through like a
[15:35] really long like PVC pipe? Right, just sneaking along just.
[15:41] Make it along 1 eyeball. Oh my God, whenever I was 5, for
[15:46] some reason I was obsessed with the Spice Girls.
[15:48] I had a crush on Baby Spice. Y'all all right?
[15:51] But anyway, I went to go see it in theaters and when I was five
[15:55] years old I was terrified of that bald fucker coming out of
[15:58] the toilet in Spice World, the Spice Girls.
[16:01] Oh my God, you. Remember that thing?
[16:04] Golly, Roger Moore's in that thing too.
[16:06] Yeah, for some. Reason.
[16:08] For some reason, yeah. So some.
[16:12] People need a paycheck. You know did.
[16:13] That what the hell? You know what?
[16:15] I didn't ask you what you were doing on the day this premiered,
[16:18] September 24th, 1993. I was making a bottle.
[16:25] She was making a bottle. For you, I changed it up this
[16:28] time. Man, wait till we really get to
[16:32] dates. She'll actually know what the
[16:34] hell she was doing. Yeah, running gag.
[16:36] If you're this is your first listen.
[16:38] Dash was born right before the show aired, so for the first
[16:42] year Angel was changing diapers and making bottles, putting on
[16:47] diaper rash cream, giving baby baths, etcetera, etcetera.
[16:52] Did you were you working? I'm assuming at a certain point
[16:55] you were working when he was little or no?
[16:57] I didn't go to work till he was 3.
[16:59] Three. OK.
[17:00] OK, so then we have a couple years before stuff gets
[17:03] interesting. Now I'll start telling you some
[17:05] crazy stuff he did when he was a baby.
[17:08] Oh oh boy, that's going to be fun.
[17:10] But we open back up to Scully being out to lunch with a guy
[17:14] that has absolutely no chance with her.
[17:16] Oh yeah, Oh my God, he thinks he does too.
[17:19] It turns out that it's, I don't know if it's Donald or if it's
[17:23] Donald. I'm going to go with Donald,
[17:26] like Donald without the D, but it's Donald Lowe, who
[17:30] unfortunately we know from Gotham.
[17:32] Yes, and he's also, I swear. Soul sucking show to have to
[17:36] watch with 900 million plot lines each season and 50 million
[17:40] characters. Yeah, I swear, and I swear I say
[17:42] this about a lot of characters and it it boggles the brain, but
[17:46] I swear he like reminds me of one of like the dads from one of
[17:49] the Disney shows. Yeah, he kind of looks like
[17:51] really good little Charlie. Yeah.
[17:53] Oh man, I used. To.
[17:55] He's he looks like the dad. Watch it together, He.
[17:57] He looks like the dad from Good Luck Charlie a little bit, but
[17:59] it's not him. It's someone.
[18:00] It's someone but he reminds if. If he's not, then he just looks
[18:03] like one of those kind of guys. But like a cheesy.
[18:07] It's like the tall, blonde, kind of thick guy.
[18:10] Yeah, thick. Not with 2C's.
[18:14] He's gonna give you a thick lobe.
[18:17] Thick, Donald. Donald or Donald couldn't
[18:22] finish. That's why I ain't got the D.
[18:24] Oh my God. Couldn't give her the D so she
[18:26] couldn't finish. Lord, have mercy.
[18:29] Christ, all right, but they're making career small talk and he
[18:34] asked her about The X-Files and working with Spooky Mulder and
[18:38] Scully actually gets kind of defensive here, you know, when,
[18:43] whenever he's kind of like being a little bit pessimistic or not
[18:47] pessimistic, he's he's derogatory cheeky, he's being
[18:50] cheeky. He's being he's.
[18:50] Being a little cheeky and and and negative about Mulder in a
[18:54] cheeky way. And this is the first time I
[18:57] think that you see Scully be like, that's that's my older
[19:02] what? That's not what she says at all.
[19:04] But that's the vibe you get. She's like, no.
[19:07] She's like, no. He's last episode she totally
[19:09] went like and kidnapped a dude and drove to a government base.
[19:13] Yeah. That's.
[19:14] Right. Oh yeah, that's right.
[19:15] Never mind. Scratch what I just said.
[19:17] So let's just erase that a little.
[19:22] Scratch that, reverse it. But Donald breaks down a recent
[19:26] batch of cases with no known point of entry in the removal of
[19:29] the victim's liver with no clear cuts, and he invites her to take
[19:33] a look at the crime scene. Scully wants to loop Mulder in.
[19:37] Donald agrees, but says to make sure Mulder knows this is his
[19:41] case. And like the moment he says
[19:43] that, you're just like. OK.
[19:45] Buddy, OK. Buddy, you don't know what show
[19:47] you're on, fella. And there's some conversation
[19:49] about him trying to get himself a promotion or catch this.
[19:54] Catching this killer is going to get him up the ladder.
[19:57] More on that later. Yeah, more on that later.
[20:01] Mulder wants to know why he wasn't asked to join the case
[20:04] personally, and Scully tells him it's his reputation.
[20:08] He asked Scully if she thinks he's spooky.
[20:11] She doesn't get a chance to answer because here comes You
[20:14] want to say something? Yeah.
[20:15] OK, because she also says, well they're just my friends from
[20:19] school and I know them and like they feel more comfortable with
[20:22] me. And he says, well why wouldn't
[20:23] they feel comfortable with me? And she goes.
[20:26] But then in walks Donald. He and Mulder shake hands.
[20:31] Mulder fucking like swings his hand like.
[20:34] Wow. He's like big Dick energy,
[20:37] trying to like, trying to like impress, I guess, Scully.
[20:40] Like I'm not scared of this guy. Yeah.
[20:43] This fucking good luck, Charlie Dad.
[20:45] Right. Is this I, I think it's so
[20:47] weird, those people, those men who have like that blonde hair
[20:50] who pretty much matches their skin tone and then it's like
[20:53] thinning too and like you can't tell what's skin and what's
[20:56] hair. It's.
[20:57] Like some weird optical illusion?
[20:59] Yeah, like where do you begin, guy?
[21:02] Or like if the sun's shining like it's shines through the
[21:04] hair, like it look, it all blends together.
[21:06] It's so weird. It's like a prismatic hair
[21:09] follicle optical illusion. Yeah.
[21:12] Donald challenges him, asking him if little green men are
[21:16] behind this and. Mulder moldering again.
[21:20] Yeah, Mulder goes molder mode here, and in jest, and he talks
[21:25] about reticulum and liver onions and a whole bunch of bullshit.
[21:29] No, first he corrects him. Yeah, a little Gray man.
[21:32] They're Gray men. And he goes, huh?
[21:36] Like he's like, wait, are you what?
[21:38] And he's like, you know, you know how much liver onions goes
[21:40] for on reticulum? That's what he said, Yeah.
[21:43] And he has a whole little spiel and makes Donald, I think he
[21:46] just confuses him, to be honest, but he belittles him as well.
[21:50] But it's, I think it's such an intelligent way that he doesn't
[21:53] even know what's happening. Mulder is just so far beyond his
[21:57] level. It's so funny.
[21:59] And then after he tells him all that mumbo jumbo, he walks over
[22:03] and starts dusting off a vent and Donald's like what the hell
[22:07] are you doing? That vents.
[22:09] That's when he says that vents, you know, 6 by 18 inches or
[22:12] whatever, he says. And like, there's no way anyone
[22:14] can fit through that. And he's like.
[22:17] And they have a weird fingerprint.
[22:19] Was it the elongated 1? Yeah, it's the first elongated
[22:22] fingerprint you see. It looks like a fingerprint.
[22:24] Does he ever take it and stretch it upward and then make it a
[22:28] little skinnier? So I know I'm thinking about
[22:30] this too much, but does he have like a a refractory period where
[22:34] he has to like stretch back because why is his thumb so
[22:37] fucking long? Because he stretches.
[22:40] I know, but like does he have to like wait for it to stretch
[22:43] back? Kind of like you have to wait
[22:45] for your skin to go back down if you're dehydrated or something.
[22:48] No, I think he just he needed to use his stretchy finger to get
[22:51] the vent on and that's why that was because so it could be
[22:56] skinnier to stretch. Yeah, I guess so.
[22:59] It's not like he's made of Jelly and it's just flat, like he's
[23:02] still human or he's still skin. So the but the skin has to be
[23:06] stretched so it can't just I I don't know how to explain the
[23:11] words. I don't know sciencey words for
[23:12] what happens when your body is gooey.
[23:16] I was saying that Mulder finds a hair and then he looks up at the
[23:22] vent automatically. Oh, see, you thought it was a
[23:25] hair. It wasn't a hair.
[23:27] What was it? It's tiny little metal shavings.
[23:30] Yeah, like. Like a like a from the
[23:32] forcefulness of the screw turning.
[23:34] So it's like and they're like like S shape I.
[23:38] Was like, why is he? Looking.
[23:41] Up, but there's a hair on the ground looking Up but this.
[23:44] He's like, holy shit, this vent is hairy.
[23:46] Yeah, a hairy vent. But we're back in the X zone,
[23:51] which is what I'm calling The X-Files office.
[23:54] The X Zone and Molders and Scully are talking evidence.
[23:59] It turns out these prints were found at five of the 10 crime
[24:03] scenes. Donald didn't mention the other
[24:05] murders to Scully, and Mulder posits that might be because he
[24:08] didn't look back far enough. And apparently this is when you
[24:11] learn that it's like a 30 year system, right?
[24:16] Yeah, sixties, 30s, etcetera. These prints span decades, 5
[24:21] every 30 years, and that leaves two to go this time.
[24:25] And Mulder isn't sure about the print, but he doesn't suspect
[24:28] aliens. This time it's not aliens.
[24:32] Make this time. Because they have a fingerprint
[24:35] in general or. Something I guess.
[24:37] Well, I guess because he has a lot of theories about what could
[24:41] do that and a lot of them have to do with things that aren't
[24:44] aliens, like genetic mutations and such.
[24:48] Science lab experiment type something rather.
[24:51] So that's not alien, that's. He's like, this is some weird
[24:54] shit, but it's not the typical weird shit I'm obsessed with.
[24:59] So Mulder says they'll do their own investigation without
[25:02] Donald. Scully reads her report to a
[25:05] boardroom, Donald included. And does she?
[25:09] She gets towards Mulder's side a little bit when she describes
[25:14] what she thinks is happening, but she also is very
[25:18] professional and logical and sciency about her explanations
[25:22] of everything. It doesn't go into too far.
[25:24] Yeah. Because she just, she doesn't
[25:26] mention that. There's no fucking way he could
[25:29] get in that vent. Yeah.
[25:31] But this is her. What do they call a profile?
[25:35] Yeah, and her profile is that the killer is male, somewhere
[25:39] between 25 to 35 with above average intelligence, and he may
[25:43] be hiding in plain sight as a delivery worker or no building
[25:47] slash ductwork and she thinks he takes livers to cleanse himself
[25:52] and he may be OCD. Yeah, because livers filter your
[25:57] blood or Yeah, I genuinely. Wasn't sure either.
[26:01] Kidney and liver and spleen. I don't know what they kidneys
[26:06] and livers and spleens. Oh my.
[26:10] But we know. I don't know what I was going to
[26:13] say. I was going to say something
[26:14] about cereal. If if Tim's ate cereal, it would
[26:18] be oops, all livers. I don't know.
[26:22] Everything's coming up liver. It is, and she also says he
[26:27] might return to a previous crime scene out of frustration.
[26:31] A man in the room offers Scully to work with them.
[26:34] The vibe is anti X file and Scully looks uncomfortable.
[26:37] It cuts before she answers. Scully is sitting at a previous
[26:42] crime scene, a parking garage at night.
[26:45] Where? I just want to say this is a
[26:47] dimly lit parking garage waiting for a bad guy and I'm already
[26:52] intimidating. I'm over here on my couch.
[26:57] This. Danger is afoot.
[26:59] I, I will say I feel like even though it's not something I feel
[27:01] like we haven't even mentioned it, but it's definitely a common
[27:04] theme the the parking garage theme throughout this.
[27:06] Yeah, that's definitely very, very.
[27:07] Because it's kind of like a liminal space, you know, it is
[27:10] where you can get some clandestine information from
[27:14] somebody at late at night in the shadows.
[27:16] You know, when you when you asked your mom what she had been
[27:19] watching this week, you forgot to mention anything about what
[27:21] we have been watching this week or what we had done this week.
[27:25] We went to concerts. I thought we were gonna talk
[27:26] about it. Yeah, we went to go see PD USA
[27:29] and then we went to go see Aries.
[27:31] Well, not in that. Order.
[27:32] We did that the other order. Yeah, the other order.
[27:34] Yeah, the other way. And we watched Death Stalker 2
[27:37] with my dad. What a fucking movie.
[27:39] And then we watched half of the new Death Stalker movie.
[27:43] But then he got tired. Yeah.
[27:45] So now we're going to wait till next weekend to finish it.
[27:48] And I've been really obsessed with Returnal because it's super
[27:51] fucking hard, but you do progress very, very slowly.
[27:54] Yes. Slow is my speed.
[27:57] This game would not be your speed.
[27:59] No, not at all. No, not at.
[28:02] All because it's a goal. It's a bullet hell.
[28:04] There's tons of enemies and you have guns with lots and lots of
[28:07] ammo and you're constantly shooting enemies.
[28:09] And moving and dodging and there's bullets coming at you at
[28:13] different speeds. In different angles, you're
[28:15] constantly jumping, dodging, diving.
[28:18] Action-packed video game I played was Tomb.
[28:21] RAID, I knew that's what you were going.
[28:22] Which one? The last one I believe, I don't
[28:25] know. I remember there was one.
[28:27] I used to be able to play them and get through it and then
[28:29] there was 1 and I couldn't get there's.
[28:30] Better. On the side of a mountain.
[28:33] Yeah, one of them. I just couldn't do it anymore.
[28:35] I was like screw this. And one of my favorite gaming
[28:39] memories of watching my mom play video games when I was younger
[28:42] is when she had to fight a golden dragon or something.
[28:45] Yeah, it was a three headed dragon.
[28:47] Yeah, and you had to keep doing sideways somersaults, jumping up
[28:51] and down and shooting at Dodge its attacks.
[28:54] Somehow I did it. You know babe, we we could one
[28:58] day have her come over or bring the PlayStation over here and
[29:01] load up one of the new Tomb Raider games.
[29:04] Get my butt whooped within. No, no, no.
[29:07] They have they have nice casual settings, they have like easy
[29:12] mode. So it's like you enjoy the game
[29:15] and the story without the hard, difficult battles and puzzles
[29:18] and stuff, and that's perfect for.
[29:20] You. I love the puzzles though.
[29:21] Yeah. Well, you that's not all of
[29:24] them, but a lot of them have different.
[29:25] Like you can turn combat on the easier hard, turn puzzles on the
[29:28] easier hard, etcetera. I think it is like that.
[29:31] Which is great. It's.
[29:32] Because the way for this all the.
[29:34] Quality of these games like it like when you think of the Tomb
[29:39] Raider games you played just what a a decade plus ago the
[29:43] ones now look like just real people on your TV yeah it's just
[29:48] it's it's sometimes the the newer good ones do definitely
[29:54] but. So we're we're sitting in this
[29:56] parking garage, which I believe is the parking garage the.
[30:00] It's a so you would you didn't mention this in the last scene,
[30:04] but when Scully was giving them tips on what they could do to.
[30:07] Yeah, he might return to the. I think he might return to the
[30:10] crime scene out of frustration. Oh, out of frustration.
[30:12] Yeah. So like and.
[30:13] And Mulder said that's dumb. He's not coming.
[30:17] Yeah, but so she decides to sit there anyway.
[30:20] But this is like where this is the face, the parking garage
[30:24] underneath the office building where that guy died at the.
[30:26] Yeah, yeah. And Molder's wrong because he's
[30:29] there. He shows up, Yeah.
[30:30] Mulder her Scully sends tingles and she exits the car, gun
[30:34] drawn, only to find Mulder with some sunflower seeds, I guess.
[30:38] I'm not sure he has sunflower seeds a lot.
[30:40] I'm not sure what he has. And he says he doubts that he's
[30:43] coming back. And Scully goes back to her car.
[30:46] As Molder walks away to go home, Mulder sees a vent being rattled
[30:50] by someone moving in it. He runs back to Scully and tells
[30:53] her to radio for backup. OK, you said here's a vent.
[30:57] Was someone rattling in it? When you first hear the sound
[31:00] that he decides to walk towards to listen to, it just sounds
[31:05] like like an air conditioner unit sound.
[31:07] If it was me, I would have kept walking, wouldn't have even.
[31:09] Wouldn't have even. No.
[31:10] The first few sounds here were just like a little metal clinky,
[31:14] clicky sound inside the vent. And then when he got closer and
[31:17] investigated, you could tell that it was a little louder, but
[31:19] at first it was enough. I would have just, I would have
[31:21] walked right past it. I'm just saying I really would
[31:24] have. He's a better investigator than
[31:26] I am, I guess. Well, that's why he works for
[31:28] the Federal Bureau. Of what?
[31:32] Investigation. Impersonation.
[31:35] Impersonation. What were you going to say?
[31:37] You were going to say something? No.
[31:39] OK. Nothing yet.
[31:42] Where am I at? Parking garage.
[31:43] Scully draws her weapon and orders the unseen intruder out
[31:47] of the vent. A man exits with his back to us
[31:50] and he turns around and son of a bitch, it's Percy from the Green
[31:53] Mile. Yes, that is.
[31:55] Oh Lord, help us, Jesus. I forget.
[31:58] Oh shit, why didn't I look up this actor's name?
[32:01] I I know from the Green Mile his character is Percy Wetmore,
[32:04] which is a terrible name. And if you don't know who Percy
[32:07] from the Green Mile is, he's the person that act the character
[32:11] that you hated the most when you watch the Green Mile.
[32:14] That's who we mean. His name was Percy.
[32:16] What a dumb name. And I think mom has some more
[32:19] info on this guy to this actor. I just know that he likes his
[32:23] women a little on the young side in real life.
[32:26] Oh. Yeah.
[32:29] Woo Epstein, Bowles The. Percy Wetmore files the Tooms
[32:34] files. Just the tombs.
[32:37] Just the Tooms of tombs. The tombs of tombs.
[32:41] But yeah, he, you know, I didn't know that, but yeah, I see it.
[32:47] He has a very creepy face. He has just one of those faces
[32:50] where you're just like you like weird stuff.
[32:53] Yeah, it's like he plays all these creepy characters cuz he.
[32:56] Asshole me, evil characters. I don't think he's ever been a
[33:00] likable character in anything I've ever seen him.
[33:03] He has he has a very punchable face.
[33:05] He does have a punchable face. There's not there's, there's
[33:09] something, there's a quality, there's a.
[33:11] Genesis. That's.
[33:12] Exactly what I was going to say. There's a Genesis Saquai about
[33:15] his face that just makes you want to punch it, but you can't
[33:18] quite put words to it. But they take him back into
[33:22] custody and in a polygraph interview, we learn that his
[33:25] name is Eugene Victor Toombs, and he's apparently employed by
[33:30] animal control. And he, he's like very detached
[33:34] during this interview, very like.
[33:37] Well, that's because he's faking the logic stress.
[33:39] He's. Very monotone and.
[33:42] He looks like he's not there. You know, you catch him in some
[33:45] lies, obviously, but he also does tell some of the truth.
[33:50] Yeah, yeah, he there's a technique thing they use where
[33:54] they like, they have to like they slow their breathing and
[33:57] they try to calm their entire body and relax every single
[34:01] muscle. It's such trick to try to pass
[34:03] live ticker test. I, I mean, I might know about
[34:05] it. I'm not saying I could do it,
[34:07] but let's say that's what he's doing.
[34:08] He's trying to just be very, very, very calm and not let
[34:11] anything affect him. And it looks like he's like
[34:13] looking past everything. Yes.
[34:16] And this is when his eyes are kind of white.
[34:19] No, they're brown. Yeah.
[34:21] They're brown. I swear there's scenes where his
[34:24] eyes are cloudy and white, not just yellow.
[34:26] 'Cause there's some Batman in detective mode from the Arkham
[34:29] Asylum game, whatever, but the interviewer is asking him
[34:34] questions about the murder victim from the cold open and he
[34:37] maintains his innocence while being very emotionally detached.
[34:42] Oh yeah. And she asked him if he's over
[34:44] 100 years old, much to Donald's confusion.
[34:48] Mulder clarifies that he directed her to ask that, and
[34:51] Tooms answers no. The polygraph lady later says he
[34:56] aced it. She doesn't think he's a
[34:58] murderer. It turns out the building did
[35:02] call animal control for a foul smell.
[35:05] A dead cat in the vents. Pretty solid alibi actually, but
[35:10] the lead agent, Fuller, is disappointed that Tooms appears
[35:13] to be just a civil servant with a good work ethic and nothing
[35:16] more. Right haven't been if there's
[35:18] someone with a good work that are ex thick around right ex
[35:21] thick ex thick. Ex thick with two CS Mulder says
[35:27] that Scully is right that Tooms is the guy.
[35:30] He lied on the 100 years old question and one about having
[35:34] been in the place the other murders happened in the 1930s.
[35:37] Lead agent Fuller is pissed at Mulder insisting this young man
[35:41] could have been alive in the 30s.
[35:43] He decides to let Tombs go. Donald asked Kelly if she wants
[35:47] out of The X-Files and into their section because Mulder is
[35:50] insane. That's totally what she's
[35:53] insane. That's what he says.
[35:54] She tells them she can take care of herself, man.
[35:59] Outside, Scully says Mulder was being territorial, and he
[36:02] responds by fingering her necklace and saying.
[36:05] Oh, that's so weird. It's no, it's not outside.
[36:09] It's when they're in. The outside the office, they're
[36:11] in the hallway. I think so, yeah.
[36:12] They're in the hallway. Maybe, But he responds by
[36:15] fingering her necklace and saying, of course I was.
[36:18] It's like, OK. She turns to walk away and he
[36:22] reaches kind of slightly around to the front of her and like
[36:28] gently touches her necklace and kind of pulls the chain and
[36:34] then. He.
[36:35] And then he kind of rubs it with his finger a little bit.
[36:38] It's now later you understand why they wanted to focus.
[36:41] On the necklace. Yeah, there's a there's a focus
[36:45] on the necklace for a reason, because you the necklace comes
[36:47] into play later and I guess they just wanted you to see the
[36:50] necklace. It wasn't her cross necklace,
[36:54] was it? No, it's not her crush.
[36:55] She does not have her cross necklace yet.
[36:57] Wow, I think we watched her mother give it to her but.
[37:00] No, she's had it forever. But then.
[37:03] Because they didn't have it written in that she was Catholic
[37:05] yet. OK, anyway.
[37:07] Scully's Catholic. Yeah, but just not yet.
[37:10] You don't know. Yeah, you'll learn later I
[37:12] guess. But yeah, it's it's very
[37:14] strange, like almost leash esque, how he like grabs it and
[37:21] pulls and she like turns and goes with it.
[37:24] It's just what? That's just not what you That's
[37:28] not what you grab on someone, right?
[37:31] Their shirt, their pants, their arm, their hair.
[37:35] Not their necklace. That's strange.
[37:37] I don't know. I don't know.
[37:39] But Mulder says they may not agree, but he's noticed she
[37:42] respects. Or wait, what?
[37:44] Oh, Mulder says that he and Skully may not agree, but he's
[37:47] noticed that she respects the journey.
[37:50] He says that if she wants to continue working with them, he
[37:52] understands. She deflects by saying she knows
[37:55] he must have more than the polygraph to back up his belief
[37:58] that Tombs is a killer, and she wants to know what.
[38:01] And then there's some fantastically, incredibly
[38:04] accurate computer VFX and sounds groundbreaking.
[38:11] Turns out the prints from the businessman in the beginning
[38:15] scene match Tombs fingerprint records if you stretch the
[38:20] recorded ones out. Mulder doesn't know for sure
[38:22] what this means, but he knows it was a mistake letting Tombs go.
[38:27] We cut to a car pulling into a driveway with Tooms looking on
[38:30] with his yellow eyes. Tim spies on the man who exited
[38:35] the car through some windows before climbing the side of the
[38:37] house. Spider Man.
[38:39] Yeah, Spider Man. And then he pulls.
[38:42] He went from a spider man to a Santa Claus 'cause then he
[38:44] starts stretching down the chimney and.
[38:47] It's. Stretch Armstrong.
[38:49] It looks weird. They they.
[38:52] They had to have gotten, we discussed this sort of they
[38:55] obviously got some kind of like not ventriloquist, that's the
[38:58] wrong word. People who stretch and bend
[39:01] their bodies, contortionist or whatever doing some of the
[39:06] scenes cause yeah but. I was confused to how they did
[39:10] it though. Like did they have like a
[39:12] platform? He was just like they.
[39:13] Didn't have those type of effects back.
[39:15] Then I know, yeah, it's really crazy to think how they could
[39:19] have done it. I'm not sure.
[39:21] You know what? It's very possible that like
[39:24] they just, they maybe built a fake 1A fake fireplace right
[39:28] there. Yeah, they had.
[39:29] For him to climb in and then like he climbs in as far as he
[39:32] can go, they shoot it and then they just like unhook and open
[39:35] it and then it's he's out. Yeah, maybe.
[39:37] Like it's something, it's something practical like that,
[39:40] honestly. But it does.
[39:41] Look, did do we mention the first time you see the hand
[39:44] stretch? Yeah, it's this part right here.
[39:47] OK. It's terrible.
[39:49] Even though Tooms may be impersonating Santa Claus, he
[39:52] doesn't come bearing gifts, he comes bearing murder and we see
[39:57] Tooms attack the man from behind and later at the crime scene
[40:02] 'cause he killed him. Donald tells Scully he doesn't
[40:05] want Mulder here. Molder says what's the matter,
[40:08] Afraid I'm going to solve your case?
[40:11] And he goes to walk away. And this is my favorite part of
[40:14] this whole episode. Donald puts his hand on Molder's
[40:19] chest, and he lingers there for a second.
[40:22] Yeah, chest, upper arm, bicep area.
[40:25] Is this romance? Did did he touch his chest and
[40:29] feel coiled steel underneath that unassuming suit?
[40:32] Oh. Maybe.
[40:34] And like he turns and his hand is like, right here.
[40:36] Yeah, right here. On him.
[40:38] And then he turns and then talks to Scully.
[40:40] Yeah. And then will turn to his, his
[40:42] hands still there. He's just filling them up.
[40:45] Just. Touching his chest arm area like
[40:48] oh. Moving his hands.
[40:49] Yeah, get get your log off me. Get your hands off my
[40:53] chesticles. So did you.
[40:55] There was this. That scene when he was when he
[40:57] killed the guy is when he stretches his hand out.
[40:59] You see the CGI effect of the stretchy?
[41:03] We gotta discuss that. That was it looks so weird.
[41:07] For 1993, it's pretty good for 1993.
[41:11] Baby, it's hard to say because I don't I I I know what new
[41:17] graphics and stuff look like. So I'm like it looks, it just
[41:22] looks so it looks so of its time.
[41:24] It does it. Looks very old.
[41:26] Time. Yeah, alright.
[41:29] But Oh yeah, they were making out.
[41:34] They were making out. Yeah, him and Donald.
[41:38] Anyway, Scully tells them to knock it off and Donald asks
[41:41] whose side she's on, and Scully replies the victims.
[41:45] Yes, I loved it when she said that.
[41:48] Yeah, she's a badass. The victim's name is Thomas
[41:52] Warner. Mulder suspects Tombs based on a
[41:55] stretched fingerprint. He also notices something is
[41:58] missing from the scene, a mark where something used to be.
[42:01] He thinks Tooms took whatever it was.
[42:04] Scully tells Mulder Tooms apartment was a cover.
[42:08] Meanwhile, Mulder is poking around.
[42:10] His apartment was a cover. That's all I have written down.
[42:13] I don't know. His apartment was a cover.
[42:15] What? Yeah.
[42:17] What is, what is it? What is it?
[42:18] What are you talking about? I don't know.
[42:20] Anyway, meanwhile Molder is poking around in the records.
[42:25] He thinks it all started in 19 O3 Exeter St. in Baltimore.
[42:29] The first murder. Scully has some weird theory
[42:32] about serial killing being passed down.
[42:34] Remember that? Like what the fuck are you
[42:36] talking about? He.
[42:36] Said it must be it must have been the his grandfather that
[42:39] did the first killings. Then he raised his son to be a
[42:43] killer like him, and then he raised his son to be a what are
[42:46] you fucking? I'm sure about that is happening
[42:49] in real. Life.
[42:50] Well, yeah, possibly. The DC sniper?
[42:53] Wasn't that like an uncle and his nephew?
[42:55] You or a grandson? Well, yeah, family members
[42:57] teaming up is different than passing on your serial killer
[43:00] tendencies to your child. I.
[43:03] Mean got the killer Jane in them.
[43:05] And if if you illogically if you did pass down your killer serial
[43:10] killer gene, it wouldn't be you taught them how to be a serial
[43:14] killer, they would just without you knowing go be a serial
[43:18] killer. No, this makes me think of that
[43:20] movie Saul the the old man in that movie he realizes one of
[43:26] the victims is his daughter and then she goes on to begins to
[43:31] start helping him. I don't think it's his daughter,
[43:34] I think it's just like. No, she treats.
[43:37] Her like a daughter. So John, what the fuck is this
[43:42] John Kramer? He had a kid that was almost
[43:46] born but his my wife had a miscarriage because she was hit
[43:50] with a door. By the guy that gets a beautiful
[43:53] torture scene. The girl that was in the reverse
[43:56] bear trap, Amanda. She starts helping him after she
[43:59] escapes. That might be, yeah, but she's
[44:01] not his daughter. When you first see her, she's
[44:03] got like really jagged, crazy cut hair.
[44:05] Yeah, when you first see her and she's the bear trap one.
[44:09] Yeah, that's not his daughter, but I it it, it becomes like his
[44:13] daughter throughout the series. I love the saw movies I don't
[44:16] watch re watch them that often but I did re watch them like
[44:19] back in 2023 I think and maybe it was 2024 but I I don't love
[44:25] the torture point aspect of it but I do love like the
[44:27] conspiracy and the cult aspects of it.
[44:31] And Speaking of just if anyone wants to, I don't know where it
[44:33] is or anything, but there is a cut of just the story of John
[44:37] Kramer without any of the murders or anything.
[44:41] You just learned the story of John Kramer.
[44:43] It's like a cut fan fiction. It's a it's a fan edit.
[44:46] Yeah, you can look it up. It's like called the story of
[44:48] Jigsaw, John Kramer. Something Jigsaw.
[44:51] The story of John Kramer. It's actually pretty pretty
[44:53] interesting. Cool because I have a bunch of
[44:55] like lore drops in the later movies that have to do with his
[44:59] origin story. Kind of.
[45:00] And his origin story is is completely not in any kind of
[45:04] chronological order throughout the movies.
[45:06] So it they put it in order for you.
[45:08] But anyway, we we go on tangents don't.
[45:11] We do go on tangents. All sorts of crazy shit.
[45:15] Hold on one second. Where?
[45:17] Are you? Trying to find where.
[45:21] You should be a little bit farther than where you're at.
[45:23] Should be further than where I am, OK?
[45:30] Mulder says. They have to track to track down
[45:32] to him so that he can't claim a fifth victim.
[45:35] He continues looking through the records for Tooms while Scully
[45:38] tries to track down his whereabouts.
[45:41] They both meet at the end of the montage and find they have
[45:43] nothing. There's no trace of Tombs and no
[45:46] record of his birth or marriage or death.
[45:49] They do, however, have the address of the lead investigator
[45:52] in the 1933 murders. Yeah, and this, this the their
[45:56] whole looking through things is like the very bright computer
[45:59] screen, the old ones that like flip through sideways of
[46:02] newspaper articles. What do you tell them?
[46:06] I don't know. I was going to say, that's
[46:08] probably before her time even. Really.
[46:10] That's what I was going to say was lithograph.
[46:12] Lithograph I have to say I would have some really hard time
[46:16] finding information going through like that.
[46:22] That seems. Crazy to go by fast too and you
[46:25] have to slow them down. I I've done it.
[46:27] Before I'll be trying to do a find in Page to try to track
[46:31] down the name tunes and be like how the hell do you search this
[46:34] thing? Yeah, that's, see, that's about
[46:35] the they, they spend like a whole shift of work doing this,
[46:39] I feel. Yeah, it's like half a shift or
[46:42] at least hours for sure. Let me get the address of the
[46:46] detective or investigator or whatever he was.
[46:49] Yeah, and they meet with him and he's been retired since 1968.
[46:54] He had seen a lot of murders, but the ones that PO Hatton Mill
[46:57] chilled him to the bone in a way he couldn't shake.
[46:59] That's why he's been waiting for someone.
[47:02] Oh yeah, his acting here is incredible.
[47:03] His acting is so good. He you were like when he talks
[47:07] about the pohatten. What do you say?
[47:09] Pohatten Mill murders. He, he is like it felt it in my
[47:12] I just could feel it. So like the way he was talking
[47:15] about it, you're like, oh, he has Harry.
[47:17] He has a line about how when he heard about like the the death
[47:21] camps and the Holocaust and shit, how it reminded him of the
[47:25] evil he had seen. I was like, I don't know about
[47:27] that. That's like orchestrated
[47:29] bureaucratic, like societal, like structural evil.
[47:33] This is just a dude who likes liver.
[47:36] Right. Liver.
[47:37] But you know, I get I get what he's saying.
[47:39] He had seen evil before and he had seen evil again.
[47:41] I got you. Yeah.
[47:43] And I got to say, so he was, I think he said he was the the
[47:48] sheriff in 33 during the that's what he says.
[47:51] And during that kind, he says he was the sheriff back in 33.
[47:55] So if he was the sheriff in 33, he had to have been like, let's
[47:59] just be nice. At least 25 to 30 years old.
[48:05] So this man that you're looking at talk right now is supposed to
[48:08] be almost 90 in this scene. That man is not a day over 65.
[48:14] And you can just tell they couldn't find anybody older.
[48:18] He might be 71. OK, that man does not look
[48:21] anywhere near 80, let alone 90. It's if he is that old, he's
[48:26] looking good for his age, you know what I mean?
[48:28] He. Found the fountain of you but.
[48:31] He is Wheaties. But yeah, I was just like,
[48:33] there's no man. There's no way this man's
[48:34] talking about adult stuff that happened to him 60 plus years
[48:37] ago. But he shows the agents a box of
[48:41] all the evidence he has on the killings.
[48:44] He knew it was the same guy in 1963, but he was on desk duty at
[48:48] that point. And so he started doing his own
[48:51] investigations kind of on the behind the scenes, and he has a
[48:56] piece of liver that was removed. What the fuck and why?
[49:00] Why did he keep a liver that was removed?
[49:02] How did he get the liver that was?
[49:03] Removed. It was in the evidence thing I
[49:06] guess. No, no, I have a question.
[49:08] I'm could you imagine, did that come into play later?
[49:10] No, They do anything with the liver, do they?
[49:12] Could you imagine though if he just was moving shit around and
[49:15] accidentally dropped that on the floor?
[49:18] Oh, I couldn't even imagine the smell inside there.
[49:20] I. Just want to say I'm connecting
[49:22] the fact that Dash used to get his grandma to make him liver so
[49:28] he could eat it because I wouldn't cook it.
[49:30] There might be a connection there that we don't know about.
[49:33] I'm Tombs. Oh my God, he's your dad you
[49:37] learn how to be a serial killer from.
[49:38] Him. I'm about 3 years too late if
[49:40] that's true because you're supposed to come back in 2000.
[49:43] 23 Yeah, that'd have been great if they would have rebooted The
[49:47] X-Files that year and did the Tooms episode.
[49:50] They should have. Well, they rebooted in. 17 and
[49:52] 18 What happens at the end of the other?
[49:55] One who knows. He also confirms Molder's
[50:00] suspicion that Tooms takes objects from his victims
[50:03] trinkets. And he has some pictures that
[50:07] he's took of Tooms while he was doing his own investigation off
[50:11] the books. Back in the 60s, right?
[50:14] Yes, he looks the same age now as he did back in the 60s.
[50:18] What? And I gotta say, I don't know
[50:22] what kind of what kind of camera he was using in the 60s.
[50:24] Really good, right? Really fucking.
[50:26] Good, like looks like a camera that you would use in the 90s.
[50:29] Honestly like I don't know if they tried anything there but
[50:32] those pictures were crisp. He did three things.
[50:35] He was a investigator doing desk work.
[50:38] He was doing investigating behind the scenes, and he was a
[50:41] amateur photographer. He had that Nikon XQC.
[50:47] That's not it that. Could be a good thing.
[50:49] Look at the old photos at my mom and dad's house.
[50:53] They are all the 70s ones are just like kind of got an orange
[50:58] orange tint to them or something.
[51:00] Like, like sepia tone. Yeah, yeah.
[51:03] Yeah, that's just how they look. And it starts to get, they start
[51:07] to get more crisp colors as you get through the decades.
[51:10] Yeah, until in the 90s is when you finally start to get like
[51:14] crisp, good quality. Like you could take a picture of
[51:17] someone and it looks exactly like they really look like
[51:21] before that it would just be like kind.
[51:22] Of. Color distortion and stuff.
[51:24] Before that, you take a picture of somebody and they'd have
[51:27] those gag glasses and mustache on.
[51:29] You can tell who they look like before.
[51:34] Keep going, Lord have mercy so. The agents pull pull up to Tombs
[51:41] old apartment and there's the iconic door opening scene from
[51:45] the credits we were talking about.
[51:46] Guns drawn, flashlights on. The the classic this that we're
[51:50] doing investigative work. And Mulder says that the old man
[51:55] was right. You can feel the feeling of
[51:57] evil. And I noticed here they didn't
[52:00] give him a name. The whole time that they were
[52:03] talking to this investigator, he didn't have a name and even says
[52:07] the old man right here, we do learn his name briefly later,
[52:11] but it's very rundown in here. It's boarded up.
[52:15] The windows are boarded up. There's a mattress leaned
[52:18] against the wall, and Molder sees that mattress and he tips
[52:21] it and there's a It was hiding a large hole behind it, A.
[52:27] Grotesque, and I love it. A grotesque do.
[52:29] You remember what the first thing that happens when he
[52:31] discovers the whole Angel? What?
[52:33] What happens when he discovers the hole?
[52:34] What does Scully do? Grabs her nose.
[52:38] No, when he boobs, imagine the first thing Scully does.
[52:41] She's like, let's go down. And she just starts climbing
[52:43] down this fucking dark hole. I love how badass she is.
[52:47] That's all. I just, I love it.
[52:48] She was just like, all right, we're going down, I guess.
[52:51] Yeah, they climbed down the ladder under pure darkness,
[52:54] flashlight piercing holes in the black, and they see a shelf
[52:58] filled with presumably stolen trinkets.
[53:01] OK. And they say Frank said he
[53:03] collected trophies. So I guess the lead
[53:05] investigators first name is Frank.
[53:08] I swear she said his name when she first told him about him.
[53:12] One of these trinkets is a globe inside of a globe.
[53:15] Yes. And I was like, why is there a
[53:17] globe inside of the globe? Hollow earth theory Oh.
[53:21] My God. And what about the hairy pipe?
[53:25] Oh my God, so we were looking. At I suppose.
[53:28] We were looking at the episode or we were looking at the table
[53:32] of trinkets in the episode when we were watching it before we
[53:35] came over here to record and. Like we paused on it because
[53:38] it's quick. Yeah, I noticed that there was a
[53:40] fur pipe on the table, like an old stove top pipe, but it has.
[53:45] The part where your hand would go underneath where you put the
[53:48] tobacco, it looks like there's like a little thin layer of
[53:52] like. Fur.
[53:54] Rabbit's foot fur maybe? Like I can't think of what it is
[53:58] specifically, but it looks kind of like fur.
[54:01] How many times they done Sims that damn rabbit fur on that
[54:04] motherfucker? Probably a lot.
[54:07] Whatever it is, it looks like it probably shouldn't be around.
[54:09] Someone's going to get hot. Yeah.
[54:13] A bunch of weird trinkets, that's for sure.
[54:15] Yeah, and they they also find a nest, a type of nest made out of
[54:19] rags and newspaper. That's what I was thinking of
[54:23] earlier. What?
[54:24] When you asked me about a hole, I forgot about that first one.
[54:28] I. Immediately went to the
[54:29] Grotesque 1. And then what?
[54:31] What what is? What does Mulder do to this
[54:33] hole? Well, hold on, hold on, Kelly
[54:36] says. It smells like bile, which is a
[54:38] great. She goes.
[54:39] Yeah, then she covers her nose. But this is a great time to
[54:42] bring up that they had a tie in for this X-Files episode.
[54:45] Oh. OK.
[54:46] They actually figured that they would try to put out a toy that
[54:49] would compete with Stretch Armstrong.
[54:52] And so they released a what they call it a a twisty.
[54:57] They called it a twisty tombs, and they made it smell like
[55:02] bile. So you knew it was attached to
[55:04] the episode and it didn't sell very much.
[55:07] Yeah, it's. Just.
[55:08] This stretchy thing that smelled like bile look like tombs.
[55:12] Molder, what about it? I think he was the only.
[55:14] I think David Duchovny was the only one that bought 1 he.
[55:17] Brought about two. He probably gave it to Chris
[55:19] Carter, let's be honest. Yeah, probably.
[55:21] They know. They both had one and they
[55:22] played with them together. Yeah, bro, you're gonna come
[55:26] over to my house, Chris. We'll put our toys.
[55:29] I don't know if that's a young Mulder sound, but that's what I
[55:32] think you sound like. OK, that's an interesting one.
[55:36] But this might be the first entrance.
[55:38] Well, wow. Wrong word.
[55:40] To Melzes point, this might be the first instance of Goo Mulder
[55:44] poking his head into the world with the slime on his fingers.
[55:48] He is very willing, very, very willing.
[55:51] And you don't see him do something else here, but he's
[55:54] very willing to just touch unknown liquidy gooey
[55:58] substances. And just put it all in his mouth
[56:01] and smell it and rub it on himself.
[56:03] Smell it, lick it, taste it, inhale it doesn't matter.
[56:06] He wants to everything even stuff he like.
[56:09] Literally you're like, you should not touch that.
[56:12] He does. And he asked Scully, how can I
[56:15] get this off my fingers without portraying my cool exterior?
[56:18] But what he really meant to say was how can I lick this without
[56:21] you hating me? But he doesn't lick it.
[56:25] He flicks it off, but before he gets it all off, the camera goes
[56:28] away. So I don't know, maybe he does
[56:31] just say. Mulder thinks Tooms is using
[56:33] this nest for hibernation, and Scully leaves to go finagle A
[56:37] surveillance team while Mulder stays to keep a lookout.
[56:41] On her way out, Scully gets snagged on something in the
[56:44] dark. She pulls free and continues
[56:47] walking, and we see a hand drop into the light holding Scully's
[56:50] necklace. A.
[56:51] Trinket A. Trinket a pickpocket.
[56:56] Yeah, I guess. So okay, no, you can't do that.
[56:59] There's no way you get the necklace off.
[57:01] I know there's no way she's. Not the one one that's
[57:05] stretching. Yeah, in order for the latch
[57:07] isn't that he was. Stretching her neck.
[57:09] Right. Like and it would have to, I
[57:12] mean I know it was dark, but it would still have to move in
[57:15] front of her face and go around. She should have said holy, holy,
[57:19] she said. Holy fuck, Molder.
[57:21] It feels like somebody's grabbed onto my necklace like you did
[57:24] earlier, right? Are you grabbing my necklace
[57:27] Molder? Everybody likes my necklace too
[57:30] much. They'd be fingering her necklace
[57:32] all night and day. Oh, my goodness.
[57:34] Oh, yeah. So he's a, he's a really,
[57:36] really, really good little pocket thief.
[57:39] But he's a pocket thief. He's a big.
[57:41] Pocket. Big pocket.
[57:43] What the fuck was I think a pocket thief?
[57:46] So that means that Scully is the next Victor, not.
[57:54] Scully shit, I lost my place again.
[57:57] Motor is outside Tom's apartment in a car.
[58:00] Two agents hop inside. Mulder fills them in and says he
[58:03] and Scully will be back in 8 hours to relieve them if he
[58:06] doesn't show. One of the officers calls Mulder
[58:09] spooky, which is great. Mulder just kind of gives them a
[58:13] look and just like bases, like do your fucking.
[58:15] Job yeah, the guy's like, all right, Spooky.
[58:18] And he's like. Yeah, I called you AI called you
[58:22] a mean name. I'm.
[58:24] Cool now. Mulder should've looked back
[58:27] there and said keep laughing, I'll fuck your wife.
[58:30] I don't know why that's what I. Can't I?
[58:34] Don't know. Anyway, Donald is upset with
[58:38] Scully for using two of his men to stake out an abandoned
[58:41] building. Donald tells Scully he's had the
[58:44] stake out called off. This is where Scully takes out
[58:47] the trash. She asks him if that's what it
[58:50] takes to climb the corporate ladder.
[58:52] This dumbass says all the way to the top.
[58:57] The way all the way to the top. The way.
[59:00] The way to the top, the way he's like looking, literally looking
[59:03] down his nose at Scully when he says it.
[59:06] And, and literally he's basically saying, yeah, I want
[59:09] to treat a bunch of people like shit and be a terrible person
[59:12] just to get to the top. That's literally what he's
[59:14] saying. And Scully replies to him and
[59:16] says, Then I can't wait till you fall off and land on your ass.
[59:19] And she storms out and I was like.
[59:21] What she said Arth. But unfortunately, Tooms is
[59:26] watching Scully as she goes to her apartment.
[59:29] Inside, Scully calls Mulder, but gets his answering machine
[59:32] because he's at Tooms apartment, unaware that the stakeout fell
[59:35] through. Scully runs a bath, of course.
[59:39] Yes. Oh yeah, another running theme.
[59:41] Scully likes to take a bath. Wow, you know Scully smells so
[59:45] good. She literally there's I, I like
[59:47] when we talked about it. This is the first thing you see
[59:50] in this one. No, she does in the first
[59:52] episode too, right? Yeah, she takes a shower.
[59:55] But like you just I can literally just picture like 10
[59:59] times where I remember she's in a bath.
[1:00:02] In 10 different episodes just at the top of my head.
[1:00:05] Not from like currently watching them and remembering every
[1:00:07] episode. She really likes to call Mulder
[1:00:10] from the bathtub. Oh my goodness, just saying.
[1:00:15] And outside, through the window, we see Tom, Spider Man, as Mom
[1:00:20] pointed out, up the building again.
[1:00:23] And back at Tooms Place, Mulder finds Scully's necklace, so he
[1:00:27] knows she's in danger. So he went all the way back to
[1:00:31] his place to leave the necklace there, and then went all the way
[1:00:34] back to go get Scully. I guess maybe he.
[1:00:36] Stretches his legs and gets around faster.
[1:00:40] Yeah, you just see an arm snaking down the sidewalk
[1:00:43] holding Scully's necklace. It's getting skinnier and
[1:00:49] skinnier as it goes. It's long and skinny.
[1:00:52] By the end of it is just by the end of it is just the really
[1:00:55] Bony finger stretching with a little necklace hanging off of
[1:00:58] it. Oh my God, how does he have
[1:01:01] bones? You know what the You know what
[1:01:04] the problem with tombs is? He stretches himself too thin.
[1:01:09] Oh my God. Poor guy.
[1:01:11] But Scully gets biled on from an overhead vent and rushes to her
[1:01:17] firearm. Yeah, it's just this yellow
[1:01:19] nasty looking amber liquid. It's just, it's so how OK do you
[1:01:25] know how Jelly is like the only thing that's really that
[1:01:29] consistency? Yeah.
[1:01:32] It's they use gelatin to make this stuff because it has that.
[1:01:36] Motor whale or something? No, no, no, no.
[1:01:38] It's thicker. It has that gelatin tight thick
[1:01:42] goopiness to it, but it is very, very where.
[1:01:45] The fuck are coming from out of him?
[1:01:48] Where's it coming from? Maybe he's slobbering.
[1:01:50] Yeah, You know, he's always really, really.
[1:01:52] Sweaty robot licking his. He's about to get Nick.
[1:01:55] Licking his gals. Because he's always really
[1:01:57] sweaty. Yeah.
[1:01:59] He's all by the way, I don't know, we mentioned it.
[1:02:01] He is always very sweaty. Even when he's calm and relaxed,
[1:02:06] he's like dripping sweat. He's just sweat and pee.
[1:02:10] But it's yellow is not even the right.
[1:02:11] It's such a strange like somewhere between gross burnt
[1:02:15] orange, pea yellow and like lime green.
[1:02:18] It's like somewhere in the middle of all those.
[1:02:20] It's a very. You know, it is kind of pea
[1:02:22] colored and it is kind of thick. You ever been in the bathroom?
[1:02:25] You hear old man try to take a piss?
[1:02:27] I imagine that's what's coming out.
[1:02:29] They're like, oh. Just.
[1:02:31] Struggling to get that piss to come out.
[1:02:34] Babe, it's. Falling out like candied yams.
[1:02:38] I'm not candy yams. Cranberry sauce.
[1:02:39] That's what I'm going to say. I got my.
[1:02:41] Cranberry sauce. Next time you eat some cranberry
[1:02:44] sauce, you're gonna be talking about.
[1:02:46] This. Oh God.
[1:02:53] OK, OK. Meanwhile, Mulder calls her but
[1:02:57] the line has been cut and Scully is on guard but is surprised by
[1:03:01] a hand grabbing her and tripping her from a ground level vent in
[1:03:05] her bathroom. That she just looked at it and
[1:03:08] she. Just looked at.
[1:03:08] It and it was closed and screwed in.
[1:03:11] Yeah. And she turns and then all of a
[1:03:13] sudden. I'm just like, well, he loves a
[1:03:15] quick screw. Unscrew.
[1:03:18] Yeah, an unscrew, whatever that means.
[1:03:20] Get your virginity back. That's possible.
[1:03:26] She pulls free, but so does tombs, launching out at her like
[1:03:30] Free Willy and climbing on top. Of her like he was getting
[1:03:33] somebody gave birth to him. Yeah, he got sprung out of there
[1:03:36] like a damn one of them toys and springs like am I trying to
[1:03:42] think of. I don't know, but yet they it's
[1:03:44] a speed up shot. Yeah, that's what it's because
[1:03:46] he's like crawling. He crawls out of it like crawls
[1:03:49] out and they speed it up because he gets.
[1:03:51] Actually a little bit slowed down.
[1:03:53] Really though, no, he like jumps out of there and they kind of
[1:03:56] slow. Maybe I'm wrong.
[1:03:57] I think he's crawling out slowly because he barely fits that that
[1:04:02] contortionist or whatever is doing that scene barely fit in
[1:04:06] that vent. So he was they crawled out of it
[1:04:08] slow and then they speed it up because it looks strange in the
[1:04:12] motions. Like you can tell it's speed.
[1:04:15] And he climbs on top of her. And just then Mulder sprints
[1:04:19] into Scully's apartment as Scully attempts to gouge Tooms
[1:04:22] his eyes out. She goes for the gouge a lot.
[1:04:24] She went for the gouge in the last.
[1:04:26] I've done that before. I I've gouge somebody's eyes out
[1:04:29] before. I did it to this girl named.
[1:04:32] Then she said can't go job hunting on the next day.
[1:04:35] She left out on my answering machine.
[1:04:37] Thanks Angel. I can't go job hunting now.
[1:04:41] She want to get to go fucking job hunting anyway.
[1:04:46] And be like, she should have went job hunting.
[1:04:48] She should have said, look, I got into a Kung Fu fight on the
[1:04:50] way here. That's how much this job means
[1:04:52] to me. And.
[1:04:53] I still look at this. My eyes are black.
[1:04:54] I still came. Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
[1:04:57] on the on the commute. On the commute.
[1:05:00] Commute, but so Mulder's finally in here and Toombs goes for the
[1:05:07] liver kill shot, which is like this, yeah.
[1:05:10] It's it's OK. It rears back his hand and.
[1:05:14] It's it's it's the Nazi salute hand.
[1:05:17] What? It's this but turned upside down
[1:05:20] and gonna dig it into her stomach.
[1:05:23] It's literally this but turned in this.
[1:05:25] It's so strange the way he's fingers.
[1:05:28] Yeah, you know, Yeah. So he's about to Mortal Kombat
[1:05:34] finisher and just take out her liver right here in on the
[1:05:37] bathroom tile. Yeah, I'm.
[1:05:39] Hungry. He's hungry.
[1:05:41] Hey, he does RIP her shirt open. I was really like Woo for a
[1:05:44] second there, but you don't see nothing, but it's close like.
[1:05:47] You see like the very end middle part of her bra.
[1:05:50] Yeah, you see the brassiere. Yeah, you see like the middle of
[1:05:54] her bra and like her ribs are kind of staying out a little
[1:05:57] bit. But yeah, he's about to just
[1:05:59] scoop that liver out. And luckily, Mulder burst
[1:06:02] through the door and interrupts him before he can get that liver
[1:06:05] shot off and he's able to handcuff him before he shoves
[1:06:10] Mulder back. Luckily, Scully grabs the
[1:06:13] handcuffs and is able to place them on a metal bar in the
[1:06:15] bathtub. Yes, the.
[1:06:17] Faucet thing in the bathtub. You ain't getting no bath
[1:06:19] tonight, girl. So they've apprehended them.
[1:06:24] Frank, the elderly ex detective, sees Tim's photo in a newspaper
[1:06:29] and starts to tear up. It's finally over for him.
[1:06:32] Poor guy. Amazing acting.
[1:06:34] Yeah, really good. I almost started.
[1:06:36] I almost started crying. When he teared up I was like,
[1:06:39] oh, poor guy. Yeah, like this has literally
[1:06:41] haunted him his whole life. Yeah, he's like a 95 year old.
[1:06:44] 60 year old. What the?
[1:06:46] Fuck is he gonna do? He's, I've lived a hard life.
[1:06:51] What's he going to do now? I guess he can finally like
[1:06:53] start going to like Boca Raton and partying it up with the
[1:06:56] locals. I'm going to go dancing with the
[1:06:58] lady. I just got to find me one.
[1:07:00] Hell, he's going to start going, I think.
[1:07:01] He's in a wheelchair, so oh. Never mind, he's going to go
[1:07:04] Wheeling with the lady. He's going to do a square dance
[1:07:07] in a wheelchair. He's.
[1:07:08] Going to do some Wheeling and dealing, yeah.
[1:07:13] But yeah, his acting is genuinely really good though.
[1:07:16] It really is, but we we cut to a cell and we see Tooms chewing up
[1:07:22] the newspaper that he's in. He's licking it.
[1:07:26] Yeah. It's so it makes me nauseous.
[1:07:29] I can't. And he's throwing it into a pile
[1:07:31] and making a nest in his cell. Which you think they wouldn't
[1:07:35] allow. Right.
[1:07:36] Hey, give it. They come in there and say, hey,
[1:07:38] stop that clean. That myself.
[1:07:40] We smell some smells like your breath and bow.
[1:07:43] Get out. Of here, now that you smell the
[1:07:44] foulness of my breath. Now that you smell the foulness
[1:07:48] of my breath. We got to show you a movie
[1:07:51] called Black Devil Doll From Hell.
[1:07:53] Oh. My.
[1:07:54] God. It's basic, OK, tangent because
[1:07:57] I got to tell him. Basically it's this voodoo doll,
[1:08:00] like a ventriloquist dummy that's like possessed by some
[1:08:04] kind of evil spirit and the the devil doll, as they call it, has
[1:08:11] sex with this girl, this actual woman, and you get to see him
[1:08:15] thrusting and all kinds of stuff.
[1:08:16] It's really gross. And we're talking like he.
[1:08:19] Says I'm going to have to punish you or something.
[1:08:21] And then he he says you've been punished.
[1:08:24] Now that you smelled the foulness of my breath.
[1:08:26] Yeah. And it's it's a very, very, very
[1:08:30] low budget, very 90s, late 80s, early 90s.
[1:08:35] Early 90s. It's very, very, very bad.
[1:08:40] Very bad but hilarious. One of the things that get so
[1:08:45] bad we quote shit from it. Yeah, like that.
[1:08:48] Now that you smell the foulness of my breath.
[1:08:50] Yeah, but it's like this little fucking like Pinocchio, but like
[1:08:54] a black version. Thing is, it's so.
[1:08:58] And also Mulder is just watching from outside as Tooms is like
[1:09:02] chewing this and licking this newspaper and throwing it to the
[1:09:06] he's just watching them. Yeah, we watch him.
[1:09:08] We watch him do at least two or three times and Molder's still
[1:09:11] just standing there, so he's just watching him do it for a
[1:09:13] long time. But Skelly walks in and says
[1:09:15] that she's had some tests run on Tooms and says that his muscular
[1:09:19] and skeletal systems are extremely unusual and he has a
[1:09:23] declining metabolic rate. Mulder doesn't answer, but he
[1:09:27] says. All these people putting bars on
[1:09:30] their windows, spending good money on high tech security
[1:09:33] systems, trying to feel safe. I look at this guy and I think
[1:09:36] it ain't enough. Yeah.
[1:09:38] And the episode ends with Tooms staring out to the tiny food
[1:09:42] tray slot in his cell. He's thinking, and you see him
[1:09:46] smile ever so slightly, and then it's over.
[1:09:49] Uh huh. It's one side just smiles and
[1:09:52] the other one is. Which is creepy, pursed Persy
[1:09:56] lips. His Percy Wetmore lips.
[1:09:59] Yeah, his Percy pursed Wetmore lips.
[1:10:01] It's like. I'm fixing to get out this
[1:10:03] delivery home. Yep, pretty much.
[1:10:06] So Mom, if you were flipping channels, if you, what the fuck
[1:10:12] was I trying to that wasn't? Even a word.
[1:10:14] Mom, if you were flipping channels and you saw this
[1:10:17] episode and watched it, would it hook you and compel you to watch
[1:10:21] more? Xbox.
[1:10:21] I believe this one definitely would.
[1:10:24] Yeah, this is definitely like top tier.
[1:10:27] Last weeks would not have, last episodes would not have.
[1:10:30] But this one, yes. I agree.
[1:10:33] I think it's a really good like monster of the week episode.
[1:10:37] It's it's the first one. It's the inaugural monster of
[1:10:40] the Week. And this is I think that why
[1:10:43] this is such a favorite is because like I said before, this
[1:10:46] was the first episode they wrote for it.
[1:10:50] This was the first episode was a monster of the week episode
[1:10:53] because that's what the show was going to be.
[1:10:56] And they added in the more conspiratorial stuff later.
[1:11:00] But this was the first script they wrote for an episode.
[1:11:03] This is literally classic X-Files.
[1:11:08] Like this is what X-Files is meant to be.
[1:11:10] Is that investigating a creepy paranormal case and all this
[1:11:14] shit's happening and stuff? That's what it's supposed to be.
[1:11:16] It's so good. It's so good.
[1:11:19] I agree, I I love this episode. It's obvious why it's a fan
[1:11:22] favorite. And yeah I would definitely be
[1:11:26] hooked. I'd come back for another
[1:11:27] episode. Did they solve it or not?
[1:11:32] You know what sort of Yes, I. Believe.
[1:11:36] They did sort of yes. And the only reason I say sort
[1:11:39] of yes is because they have absolutely no way to solve the
[1:11:43] other cases that he definitely did commit.
[1:11:45] They did the 60s and the 30s and the 19-O3 cases.
[1:11:48] Those are never. Solved, but as of right now he
[1:11:50] can't. They won't, no matter what proof
[1:11:52] they have, they won't believe that he's the one that did that.
[1:11:54] Yeah. So like they solved this case.
[1:11:57] Yes. So my answer is yes, but this
[1:11:59] case is a long going, an ongoing long case over decades and they
[1:12:04] did not solve the previous versions of it.
[1:12:07] But yes, this is the first really sold.
[1:12:09] This man is in jail. Yeah.
[1:12:11] This is this is this is a bad guy in jail at the end of an
[1:12:14] episode. First time we have that I think.
[1:12:17] Yeah, yeah, I agree. It doesn't happen option.
[1:12:20] It doesn't happen often. I concur.
[1:12:22] Yes. So we also like to talk about
[1:12:25] what our MVP of the episode was. And your MVP can be a person, a
[1:12:31] place, an object. It can really be whatever you
[1:12:35] want it to be. Mom, do you have a Oh yeah, And
[1:12:39] whoever wins at the end of the season, whoever has the most
[1:12:44] points in the MVP contest, they get a all expenses paid trip to
[1:12:50] the moon. Oh, whatever that entails for
[1:12:53] them. I.
[1:12:53] Want to go lunar? Exploration Who is your MVP this
[1:12:57] episode, Mom? Well, I'm torn between the old
[1:13:01] man and the globe in a globe and decide which one.
[1:13:06] Well, if well, if I told you, my choice would have helped because
[1:13:09] I'm choosing. Frank as well.
[1:13:10] OK, then mine will be the globe. So that's I'm going to leave the
[1:13:14] globe out. I was going to say Frank.
[1:13:16] Too. Yeah, Frank, he deserves.
[1:13:18] He deserves it. Frank deserves it.
[1:13:21] He was. He was a valued minimal
[1:13:25] character for sure, but his acting, I mean, I mean, let's
[1:13:30] just be honest. Yeah, he was.
[1:13:32] Mulder got nothing on that face acting.
[1:13:35] No Mulder, just Mulder can be as handsome as he wants to be.
[1:13:39] He doesn't have that level of acting on him.
[1:13:41] Like that was oppressive and the fact that he's like 90.
[1:13:45] Yeah, it looks like that. I don't know if this guy can
[1:13:48] survive a trip to the moon. Oh cuz 30 years ago, 33 years
[1:13:54] ago he would have been 90. So yeah, he's dead.
[1:13:59] The actor has probably passed away.
[1:14:01] Yeah, probably, to be honest. And also we did discover and
[1:14:06] meant talk about this earlier. They're obviously Tombs is done
[1:14:12] just in reality because three years ago he would have had to
[1:14:15] come back. Yeah, and he didn't.
[1:14:16] I didn't hear anything about it, so he must not have.
[1:14:19] I didn't hear anything about it either.
[1:14:20] Yeah. Did you hear anything about
[1:14:23] liver serial killer thing happening about 3 years ago?
[1:14:25] I heard about the liver King, is that the same guy?
[1:14:28] Oh. Fuck.
[1:14:29] Have you heard about anybody licking on newspapers?
[1:14:33] Not lately, but that could always be happening at any time.
[1:14:37] It's probably always happening at a time.
[1:14:39] That's a classic way to make paper mache stuff, so.
[1:14:45] It looks like right now in the lead we have Seth Green.
[1:14:48] Ohio Yeah, Seth Green's still winning.
[1:14:50] For right now, For right now, I have a feeling it's going to be
[1:14:53] either Mulder or Scully, but we might have a surprise.
[1:14:56] Have we picked Mulder or Scully at all?
[1:14:57] Yeah, we picked Scully. Once I did we I picked Mulder
[1:15:00] and Scully to just give them one point each.
[1:15:03] That's not fair. They're going to get their
[1:15:05] points. So our next segment is called
[1:15:08] the Damage Report, and this is a segment in which we talk about
[1:15:11] the injuries that the agents may have sustained during the
[1:15:13] episode. And at the end of the season
[1:15:16] we're going to figure out how much their medical bills would
[1:15:18] cost. Any damage?
[1:15:21] Did they suffer any kind of damages?
[1:15:23] I. Don't know about physical
[1:15:26] damages. I feel like Skelly probably had
[1:15:28] a bruise or two from her scuffle with Tim's, but I mean just a
[1:15:33] bruise maybe? I'm trying to think if anything
[1:15:36] else she does anyone fall or trip or?
[1:15:44] I didn't remember seeing any of that.
[1:15:46] I think they're all right this episode.
[1:15:48] Yeah, I think they're pretty well good.
[1:15:50] I mean, OK, the goo, they did touch the bile acid goo.
[1:15:57] I would get checked. They might need just
[1:15:59] antibiotics. Antibiotics.
[1:16:01] She might need some Tylenol for the bruises.
[1:16:04] Maybe even some kind of like STD test or whatever test.
[1:16:07] Is it sexual? But just disease test?
[1:16:10] I don't know like a test for fucking?
[1:16:13] What's the rust 1 you get and shit Like something something it
[1:16:19] smelled like bile. Some rusty bile.
[1:16:22] It smelled like bile and it was the color of nuclear waste.
[1:16:26] I would get fucking tested. Just say.
[1:16:29] For sure. Who knows where he's secreting
[1:16:30] it from? We don't know. $1000 for an FBI
[1:16:33] internal testing kit. Also we're not talking about The
[1:16:37] Who knows what Donald touching Mulder for so long did to him.
[1:16:41] He might have had a painful erection that lasted a long time
[1:16:46] after that shit, I mean. He probably had to pay for
[1:16:50] hookers to help with it, and then that didn't work, so then
[1:16:53] he had to pay a Doctor Mulder. That's a lot of money.
[1:16:56] Mulder is a gooner. He would not have paid a hooker.
[1:16:59] He would have went back home and ordered porn on his TV.
[1:17:02] Yeah, Mulder's definitely a gooner.
[1:17:05] Coming up, we're going to have an I've already watched and done
[1:17:08] an episode where porn comes into Mulder's life, so.
[1:17:13] You will discover over the years that Mulder is definitely
[1:17:16] secretly watching porn sometimes.
[1:17:18] For sure. For sure.
[1:17:22] Like they don't even, it's not even.
[1:17:25] It's just very clearly, where are we at now?
[1:17:29] We we usually have my mom guess what the next episode is going
[1:17:33] to be based on the title of the episode and we tell her exactly
[1:17:37] with no fibs or what did I say fibs or flubs?
[1:17:41] Fibs, flubs, or flabulations. With no, no fibs.
[1:17:45] We don't tell her any fibs. We tell her to straight up.
[1:17:48] Honest to goodness truth. Yes, by golly.
[1:17:51] Files episode is so the next episode Mom is going to be
[1:17:54] titled Conduit. What do you think it's going to
[1:17:57] be about? Conduit.
[1:17:58] Yep. It's going to be something to do
[1:18:03] with a bunch of wires. That's a good guess.
[1:18:07] That's a very good guess, but you're actually completely
[1:18:09] wrong. Of course, definitely.
[1:18:11] Wrong. It actually.
[1:18:12] What takes place in this episode is Mulder investigates who's
[1:18:16] doing the electric work in a spooky prison.
[1:18:19] Turns out they're having a conduit.
[1:18:22] Oh my. Oh my God.
[1:18:28] Yep, that's exactly what happens.
[1:18:32] Should I be watching this as your mom?
[1:18:37] What? Conduit going on?
[1:18:39] What kind? What are you talking about?
[1:18:41] Why? Why don't you were saying con
[1:18:44] doing, they were con doing. It no, they're having a con do
[1:18:50] the electric work. Because they're in prison.
[1:18:55] Oh. My God, she thought it was some
[1:18:57] sexual. A con, a felon, a criminal doing
[1:19:02] it I'm doing. It comes there, hence my name,
[1:19:07] Angel. I live up to that name all the
[1:19:09] time, all my life. She's a virgin.
[1:19:12] Dash's mom is definitely a virgin.
[1:19:13] I'm immaculately conceived, but before we close out the episode,
[1:19:20] I always like to get one thing that made you feel good this
[1:19:23] week. What was one thing that made you
[1:19:25] feel good this week, Mom? 01 thing that made me feel good
[1:19:28] was oh God I don't know y'all coming over?
[1:19:34] That's always a safe 1. You can always use that one.
[1:19:36] That's good. You do have fun when we come
[1:19:38] over. But for varieties sake, it can't
[1:19:40] always be bad. But she's also got a terrible
[1:19:45] memory camera. What she did this week.
[1:19:46] I know. Remember what I did this week?
[1:19:49] Well, I mean, the concerts, we, we had a lot of fun.
[1:19:54] They have more fun than this old lady does.
[1:19:57] We did. We didn't mean we're not the
[1:19:59] kind of people who go to concerts like literally a couple
[1:20:01] times a week. But for this particular week we
[1:20:04] did because we purchased tickets several months ago and they
[1:20:09] happened to be 4 days apart. Yeah.
[1:20:12] So we went to a concert on Saturday and then on Wednesday.
[1:20:14] Yeah, got to meet PDUSA and Aries.
[1:20:17] Not in that order again. They're just a couple of party
[1:20:20] kids. Oh yeah, let me tell you.
[1:20:22] But you know what it was the Aries 1 was so much fun and it
[1:20:27] was so hype and like energetic. And then the PD 1 was just like
[1:20:33] so fucking vibey and cool. And we, we met several people,
[1:20:38] we got instagrams and stuff of some people that we met there
[1:20:42] that were really cool, made some friends.
[1:20:45] I mean, it was a long ass drive, but it was super fun because we
[1:20:50] yeah, we have to drive far to get there, but.
[1:20:52] Yeah, but it's totally worth it. Totally worth it.
[1:20:55] What else do we do? We do thing else password that
[1:20:58] you want to mention. I went to an antique store
[1:21:01] because I am 1. Did they try to buy you?
[1:21:06] Said the opposite to do that, yeah.
[1:21:10] One thing that, well, a couple of things.
[1:21:12] It doesn't have to be one thing, but a couple of things that made
[1:21:14] me feel good this week is I got to reconnect with my friend
[1:21:18] Jesse. I haven't talked to him in a
[1:21:19] couple of months. Yeah, I got to talk to Jesse.
[1:21:22] He's doing good. Yeah, and we got to meet a new
[1:21:26] friend named Glitch who is from Poland.
[1:21:29] We talked to him. He's been on the grind bend.
[1:21:31] He's. Probably going to listen to this
[1:21:32] one of these days so. Probably he's he might be on an
[1:21:35] episode. We have a specific episode in
[1:21:38] season 7 way down the line that he might be on.
[1:21:41] Three years from now or whatever.
[1:21:43] It might be 6, I forget which episode which season kill
[1:21:46] switches in but he's a big fan of Cyberpunks.
[1:21:49] We're going to watch that one. And I also besides talking to my
[1:21:53] friend Glitch who's been on grind bin and does this come in
[1:21:56] chromium I was on. That's right, you did an
[1:22:01] episode. We recorded an episode of Does
[1:22:03] This Come In Chromium for a James Bond comic, which was
[1:22:05] really cool. Which should probably by the
[1:22:07] time this episode comes out, that one will definitely be out.
[1:22:10] For sure, for sure. OK, And I also recorded an
[1:22:13] episode of Bloody Bits for Sergeant Kabuki.
[1:22:15] Man NYPD. What a terrible movie.
[1:22:18] I didn't even, I was like, Nah, I'm not suffering.
[1:22:21] And I was like, I'm gonna go play my game.
[1:22:23] Didn't even watch it. Doughnut cops should have been
[1:22:25] in more movies. What were you worried?
[1:22:28] Did you have somebody want to add when he was talking there
[1:22:31] just. Taking it all in.
[1:22:33] We just enjoying the vibe. We have a lot of stuff.
[1:22:37] I feel like we don't do that much, but then when we start
[1:22:39] talking about all the stuff that we're involved, it feels like
[1:22:41] we're a lot of stuff. But I guess if if y'all don't
[1:22:45] have anything else to say, we can go ahead and wrap it up.
[1:22:52] See y'all? I won't see y'all later, but
[1:22:54] I'll talk to you later. Oh and for all obviously if you
[1:23:00] have listened this far then you are definitely a friend and
[1:23:05] thank you so much for listening all the way to the end.
[1:23:08] I can't believe you made it this far.
[1:23:10] What the fuck are you still even doing here?
[1:23:30] this.
