In the fourth episode of our rewatch of The X-Files, Melz and Dash (long-time fans, couple), and Angel (first-time watcher, Dash's mom) are unscrambling Conduit! We get a deeper look at Mulder's feelings about his missing sister, Scully's willingness to go along with his zaniness, and tabloid sensationalism. Along the way, we watch an 8 year old get perp walked, briefly discuss the dangers of Finger Viagra, witness the first inklings of David Duchovny's crying abilities, and discover what happens when Goo Mulder gets to third base. [0:00] Welcome to Gen. X-Files, the only podcast named
[0:03] that that's exclusively about The X-Files.
[0:07] I'm Angel and this is my first watch.
[0:11] I'm Dash and this is my third or fourth watch.
[0:14] And I'm Mel's and this is also my 3rd or 4th watch.
[0:18] And if you're listening to this, I want to believe you're a
[0:22] friend. And tonight, we're learning that
[0:24] scrambled cable isn't just for watching porn.
[0:45] All right. So how are you guys doing?
[0:48] Fine. How are you doing?
[0:49] I'm doing pretty good. I like this up as well.
[0:53] I guess spoilers, but I like spoilers.
[0:54] I thought it was pretty good. I liked it too.
[0:57] Yeah, we've like we said 3 or 4 because we're not really sure,
[1:01] but we just, you just watched it.
[1:03] You're honestly probably like 5 or 6 for all of these because
[1:06] you're watching them all a a second and third time with me
[1:09] and then while you're doing it and everything.
[1:10] Painstakingly taking notes. Yes.
[1:14] So you actually are a few episodes more than me for each
[1:17] one, you know what I mean? Yeah, that's true.
[1:20] But we just finished watching it again for the third or fourth
[1:23] time and yeah, it's, it's a, it's one of those classic Bring
[1:26] It Back episodes, you know? Bring it back.
[1:29] Me like. No bring your back like it makes
[1:32] you want to watch the next one. Yeah, yeah.
[1:35] It it keeps you hooked, it it gets you, it gets you into it.
[1:40] What'd you oh shit, dropping my phone.
[1:43] So has anything been keeping you up at night?
[1:48] Oh well, the only thing that would have kept me up is my
[1:53] daughter's husband's truck engine light came on and it's a
[1:58] solenoid, whatever that is a. Solenoid.
[2:01] Yeah, one of them things. I don't know anything about
[2:04] cars, but I know that word. That's what I know.
[2:07] Yeah, I know more than either of y'all about cars, but I know
[2:11] that that's a thing in a car. Like have you been watching
[2:13] anything this last little bit? Any movies or series or?
[2:18] Catching up on these shows. I watched a real good movie,
[2:23] Dang it. And you know, I have a bad
[2:24] memory, guys, but the movie is where this Army guy is out or
[2:33] our Marine or whatever, and he's out with his his team and he's
[2:37] doing stuff and all of a sudden they're having to fight an alien
[2:42] that's a machine. Yeah, that's the Alan Richardson
[2:46] I think movie where it's called The War Machine.
[2:48] Is that it? Yes, that's it.
[2:50] Yeah, you told me you were watching.
[2:51] And let me tell you something about it.
[2:54] The main guy, the main actor in it, he does all his own stuff.
[2:58] Yeah, there's a scene in it where he's underwater actually
[3:01] pulling heavy stuff, and he's under the water an entire 2
[3:05] minutes without coming up to get the scene in one take.
[3:10] Jesus Christ. That's intense.
[3:12] I don't remember the specific stuff we've watched with him in
[3:15] it, but he's been one of those ones who's known to do is he was
[3:18] stunts a lot. He was Hawk in the DC shows like
[3:22] Titans and maybe he was in Doom Patrol or something too, but he
[3:26] was also Reacher that Amazon show Reacher that's.
[3:30] Right. That's where he plays Jack
[3:31] Reacher. Yeah, he's the main guy, yeah.
[3:33] Yeah. Other than Tom Cruise.
[3:36] He's a, he's a He's a tall, sexy drink of water though, I gotta
[3:39] say. And as our friend Alpha knows,
[3:41] he actually goes back at the end of Season 1 and kisses that guy
[3:45] that was. The the what is he?
[3:47] The mayor? The mayor of the tower?
[3:48] I want. To say.
[3:49] Police chief for one of the black guy I don't.
[3:51] Know it's an inside joke that no one you don't even know about.
[3:54] Mom with our friend. Alpha and he'll probably never
[3:56] listen to this so. I'll listen to it.
[3:58] I'll send this one to him specifically, damn it.
[4:01] Just to get him to listen to 1. Yeah, I can't remember his name.
[4:06] I feel like it was Mosby, but that was the guy that ran the
[4:08] Tipton. Hotel in the Zack and.
[4:11] Cody Yeah. Do you remember when I used to
[4:13] watch Zack and Cody? Yes, I remember that.
[4:15] God, I watched. You like London Tipton when you.
[4:18] Was in the hotel. I think I did like London
[4:20] Tipton. Yeah, all the little boys liked
[4:22] London Tipton. But so I guess what?
[4:27] Have we been watching? Yeah, what have we been?
[4:29] Watching. Always watching.
[4:31] Song What have I? What have I?
[4:33] Well, we went to the drive insurance.
[4:35] Dash L Jackson been watching Dash H Macy Dash I'm I'm running
[4:47] out of celebrities that have middle initials.
[4:51] Dash, Gordon Lovett. Dash Gooding, Junior.
[4:54] There you go. Jesus.
[4:56] OK, anyway, next. What have we been watching?
[4:59] What have we been watching? We did we, we, we wanted to know
[5:03] what something that we can do where we can take our dog and we
[5:08] can go out on a date and we can, you know, hit our vapes and
[5:15] stuff and have a good time. And we were like, oh man, we can
[5:18] go to the drive in. And so we went to the drive in
[5:21] and saw Scream Seven. Rest in peace to that franchise
[5:25] and and. What happened to be showing when
[5:29] we wanted to go, we didn't choose to watch We.
[5:31] Literally decided that day that we were going to do it like 50
[5:35] minutes before the movie started and we were like, let's go and.
[5:37] Literally it takes 50 minutes to get there.
[5:39] Yeah, and we also watched Sam Raimi's new movie Send Help,
[5:44] which is kind of. Mom, have you ever seen Misery?
[5:47] Yes. Yeah, with Kathy Bates and all
[5:49] that. I love it.
[5:50] It's kind of like Misery, but on an island.
[5:52] Like a woman wants to be on Survivor real bad and she works
[5:57] in an office and her boss is an asshole, but she gets invited to
[6:00] go with him. A.
[6:02] Business meeting in. Yeah, in Thailand and their
[6:05] plane crashes and all of them except them to die.
[6:09] And she's really good at surviving because she wanted to
[6:12] go on Survivor, you know? Yeah.
[6:14] But her boss is an asshole. Yeah, and he doesn't know shit,
[6:16] so he's got to depend on her and he's got a hurt leg and it's
[6:20] very misery meets Survivor. Yeah.
[6:23] You'd probably like it. And it has to say that.
[6:26] It's. It's called Send help.
[6:28] It's got a little some little twisty stuff in it too.
[6:30] That's interesting. Yes.
[6:32] So it's, it's it also has a little bit of a lost vibe.
[6:36] And also we've been we've been both of us playing through the
[6:41] Metal Gear more, you know, playing through the Metal Gear
[6:44] series. My mom know does know all about
[6:46] Metal Gear Solid. Snake.
[6:50] Yes, to demonstrate her Metal Gear knowledge, she.
[6:53] Made drop the character that's the main character of the game
[6:56] series. She named Drop Solid Snake like
[6:58] she went to high school with him.
[7:02] What was David like in real life?
[7:05] I have no idea. That's his name.
[7:07] Oh. I only know him by Solid Snake.
[7:11] Oh, I thought you do. You know, liquid.
[7:13] Snake. Oh yeah, I know, Liquid Snake
[7:15] too. You look like you're lying.
[7:20] He's a bad guy and. What's that?
[7:22] Li Li Li Li lo word. Oh God.
[7:26] Nice. I'm not good at it.
[7:27] It's Lala lala, lala lala lala lala.
[7:32] It's. A tongue twister.
[7:33] It's the Patriots, you don't know anything.
[7:36] Secret code thing that they. So, OK, it's a small Metal Gear
[7:40] tangent, but in Metal Gear everybody has nanobots, right?
[7:44] And the AI is are called the Patriots.
[7:47] And the AIS have made it to where whenever somebody tries to
[7:50] say the word Patriots, they say La La, La, La, la oh.
[7:54] I didn't even know that. That's why they said.
[7:56] It it's a weird fucking game. Series.
[7:59] You could spend 12 hours straight watching like in depth
[8:03] documentaries about every aspect of the story of all the Metal
[8:06] Gear games and you still wouldn't understand everything
[8:09] about it. Yeah, it's ridiculous.
[8:10] It's ridiculous. Like I still there's still parts
[8:13] of it when it comes to like there's some of them are clones,
[8:16] some of them have like had their faces re surgery done to be
[8:21] someone else and like all sorts of shit like.
[8:24] I don't think that happens. What's, Well, what's the OK,
[8:27] well, I'm actually spoiler for possibly a Metal Gear game, the
[8:30] one he wakes up in the hospital. Yeah, that's that's not him,
[8:33] right? Yeah, that's not.
[8:34] Him. He had his face surgically made
[8:35] to look like what Big Boss? That sounds like Face Off or
[8:39] whatever that movie. Yes, it's got I.
[8:41] Want to take his face? Off Oh my John Travolta and
[8:46] Nicolas Cage. What peak acting?
[8:49] You know what we got to do every once in a while?
[8:53] It would be nice for maybe me and you.
[8:56] You know what, you pick them. I don't even love it.
[8:58] If just you pick the movies and we come and talk about movies
[9:00] sometimes. OK.
[9:02] And we'll call it a side file. Melanie came.
[9:04] Mel. 'S, Mel's, whatever.
[9:06] Yeah. Side files.
[9:07] We're gonna do side files. So yeah, spoiler I guess future
[9:10] episodes there might be little things called side files, which
[9:12] will be little episodes. All three of us watching
[9:16] something else. A video, a video, a movie that
[9:20] both me and my mom really like that I would love to talk about
[9:23] is Vanilla Sky. Oh yes, I love vanilla sky, it's
[9:26] one of my all time phase. Me too, it's all my top 4IN
[9:29] letterbox. I usually watch it at least once
[9:31] a year. Yeah.
[9:33] Sometimes. More, I feel like we've watched
[9:34] it together since we've been together probably like 6 to 8
[9:40] times and we've been together 10, almost 11 years.
[9:44] And also Big Fish is my number one favorite movie back in.
[9:47] Yes, I was going to say that. I was going to say that for you.
[9:50] I can't watch that one too often because it's very sad.
[9:53] It's it's a good sad though. You feel good after you cry your
[9:57] eyes out, you turn into a fish. It's a beautiful movie.
[10:01] It's a beautiful movie. But do you guys want to what?
[10:04] What have you been doing? Mostly all the same stuff that
[10:07] you said because we pretty much watch all of our content
[10:10] together. No, So like it's not, it's a,
[10:13] it's a 2 parter segment. It's her part and then our part
[10:15] together. Because that pretty much the
[10:17] only thing I do that you don't do is play more Battlefield than
[10:20] you. It would be hilarious if you
[10:21] were like, yeah, while you were asleep.
[10:23] I watched the entirety of Days of Our Lives.
[10:26] Oh, I mean, yeah, that was last week.
[10:28] That was last week. The the four different times
[10:32] that it actually turned out to be the one persons evil twin was
[10:37] like epic. Aliens.
[10:39] My mom used to watch a whole lot of Days of Our Lives like Sam
[10:43] through the hourglass. These are the days of.
[10:46] Our lives and I can thank my great, great grandmother Muzzy.
[10:50] Forgot your hook, Donald? Yeah, and that's like, I never
[10:54] really watched them much of those, but the whole evil twin
[10:56] thing is totally a thing that happens multiple times, right?
[10:59] OK, and they all die and come back to life.
[11:01] Oh yeah, that too. That was something.
[11:02] I was thinking, I mean that's perfect because just like just
[11:06] like Sam through the no, but just like Muzzy passed that down
[11:10] to you. Now I'm passing up The X-Files.
[11:14] Yeah. Gen.
[11:14] X-Files is a story about is a is a what the fuck are we doing is
[11:18] a podcast about family. It's not a story, it's.
[11:23] The fam. It could be a.
[11:25] Story Everybody is family in the friends.
[11:29] Y'all are friends if you're listening.
[11:31] Yes, you are. Do you want to get into it?
[11:33] Do we want to get into it? I guess we want to get into it.
[11:36] I guess we want to get into it. So this episode is called
[11:41] Conduit and it is written by Alex Ganza and Howard Gordon.
[11:49] Which Howard Gordon? I looked him up and I couldn't
[11:52] find anything that I recognized him from, but he did direct
[11:55] 2006's Queer Duck the Movie, which is about a gay duck.
[12:00] Oh, quack, quack, I guess. It will it I think it received
[12:05] like a Glan award. So it's not like a like, oh, the
[12:07] home, the homosexuals are bad, like like the opening of Mean
[12:11] Girls or anything. But it is, I guess, just a
[12:15] wholesome story about a gay duck.
[12:17] Oh, where's that? Does the gay duck find love?
[12:21] I'm guessing he does I I would hope.
[12:23] So they don't have ducklings. No, I guess they can't.
[12:29] It might not even be the same species in these animal movies.
[12:32] You never know. You see like donkey fall in love
[12:34] with a dragon in Shrek. Oh.
[12:36] Yeah, they had. They had little Dragon Dragon
[12:39] Donkey. Babies.
[12:40] That's right. They're half dragon, half
[12:41] donkey. How did that?
[12:42] How did that happen? They're dragies.
[12:46] Dragies or donguns, That's terrible.
[12:49] That always whatever. They're just donging around,
[12:52] donging around. But yeah, it was directed by
[12:59] Daniel Sakheim, which I believe he directed either the second or
[13:02] the third episode. I can't remember.
[13:04] He directed one of those. We talked about it.
[13:07] You could scroll back to that episode if you want to find out
[13:10] for sure, whichever one that episode is.
[13:14] But also the interesting thing is the sheriff from this episode
[13:20] is his name is Michael Kavanaugh, and he was the judge
[13:24] that sentenced Stanley Yelmets to Camp Green Lake.
[13:29] And holes in holes. Yeah, I can't believe he.
[13:32] Did you know I recognized him? I was like that.
[13:34] He looks familiar. The sheriff is the OPS.
[13:37] Yes, he is. He's the OPS.
[13:39] And this aired October 1st, 1993.
[13:43] Mom, what were you doing that day?
[13:45] The first day of October 1990. 3 October I probably had already
[13:51] gotten a pumpkin because I would do it so early and it'd.
[13:55] Be rotten by Halloween. Yeah, man, all the time.
[13:58] By the time the kids came along, I'd be like, I'm going to, I'm
[14:03] going to carve this pumpkin up with my little Bambino.
[14:09] Bambino, you did call me that. You're used to a lot.
[14:12] That's so funny. Oh yeah, That sounds like what
[14:17] you would probably be doing is carving.
[14:19] What were you doing that day? Probably toddling around.
[14:23] I doubt. I doubt we're toddling around.
[14:25] I doubt. I was laying there like a lump
[14:28] on a log and my mom was saying shit, no job.
[14:31] You're probably shitting yourself.
[14:32] Up. I might have almost fall down
[14:34] the stairs with you. This one time I was getting up
[14:37] to go get you a bottle and I had you in one arm and all of a
[14:41] sudden I kind of tripped. Next thing I know I was only
[14:44] holding him by his chin instead of his whole block, instead of
[14:48] around his whatever. Oh my.
[14:51] God. My mom tried to John Wick me.
[14:54] You know the stories of I dropped my kid on their head.
[14:58] I almost did and it would have been horrible on some stairs.
[15:01] This podcast would be much different.
[15:03] Yes, right. Horrible.
[15:04] I'd come to you from a Stephen Hawking voice or For All You.
[15:07] For all we know, you were affected that day.
[15:10] Oh, maybe. That explains everything.
[15:12] They're signs. He's like my mom put.
[15:14] Me in the headlock. Yeah, and gave me a noogie.
[15:16] Besides like like Mark Wahlberg? Oh.
[15:20] My. God or Mel Gibson, what am I?
[15:22] Thinking of Mel Gibson, but you're thinking of.
[15:25] What's the mark happening Happening.
[15:27] OK, I get those two movies mixed up some reason.
[15:29] Have you? Ever seen the happening mom?
[15:31] It sounds familiar. It's that scene with Mark
[15:33] Wahlberg where the trees start killing people.
[15:36] The scene with Mark Wahlberg when he's at the top of the
[15:38] stairs. Hold on, hold on.
[15:40] The the trees don't start killing people.
[15:42] The trees put out chemicals into the air and people start killing
[15:45] themselves. No, I'm not sure.
[15:47] It doesn't sound. Familiar.
[15:48] You've probably seen it. It's a pretty.
[15:49] It's an older 1 so. Bad.
[15:50] It's good. Don't forget that I have a bad
[15:53] memory. It's.
[15:54] The the scene that you probably remember.
[15:56] Call them friends I guess. Yeah, friends, my friends, the
[16:00] the scene that you might remember is the one that people
[16:02] meme all the time. It's Mark Wahlberg at the top of
[16:04] the stairs. And the woman is like, you're
[16:07] not gonna kill me or anything, right?
[16:09] And he's like, no, no, not at all.
[16:13] Like the way he says it is like when you say no, I didn't just
[16:18] drink your coffee. Like that kind of no is so she
[16:21] just says you're not gonna kill me, right?
[16:24] And that's how he says it. And people mean that clip of
[16:26] him. Wow, that's.
[16:27] Some. Crazy acting.
[16:32] So ready to get into it. Ready to get into it.
[16:35] What the fuck was this episode about again?
[16:36] I forget we watched it like what, 30 minutes ago?
[16:38] It's about. I told you last week that it's
[16:41] about Molder trying to figure out who's doing the electrical
[16:44] work at a prison, and he finds out a con do it.
[16:49] They're having a con do it. They're having a con do it.
[16:53] And my mom got that joke immediately.
[16:55] Oh yes, if you listen back you will hear the end of the last
[16:59] episode. She totally got it very quickly.
[17:02] Hallelujah. All right, but we open up on
[17:05] some campers by a fire at night. They're outside a trailer for
[17:09] some reason. I don't know why they're
[17:11] sleeping on the ground outside the trailer.
[17:12] When there's beds in the trailer.
[17:14] Literally, yeah. But inside there's a woman
[17:16] sleeping peacefully until she seemingly awoken by an
[17:19] earthquake. And there's lights in the
[17:21] windows. And then the light fades and the
[17:23] shaking stops. Someone yells mom and the woman
[17:27] says, Kevin Home alone 1990. That's what I thought cuz she's
[17:32] like Kevin and he's like mom and I'm like home alone.
[17:36] Rest in peace, Catherine O'Hara. Yes.
[17:39] Rest in peace. This woman does a fine job in
[17:41] this role, but she's no Catherine O'Hara, no.
[17:44] And she grabs the door knob, which is scalding hot, and she
[17:47] painfully puts on an oven Mitt. She's like, she puts it on.
[17:52] Why didn't she put the oven Mitt on the not hurt hand to open the
[17:55] door? Yeah, right.
[17:57] What the fuck like that? Caused her so much more pain and
[18:02] agony in that moment. Like why would you?
[18:05] Well, it goes to show you she was, her adrenaline was pumping
[18:08] and she was in the moment and she didn't know.
[18:10] Maybe she's just left-handed and she can't open the door for.
[18:12] The right hand, every time she goes, she's like, I'm carrying
[18:15] something in my left hand. You got to get the door, honey.
[18:19] She opens the door after she puts on the oven Mitt so she can
[18:23] turn the scaldingly hot doorknob.
[18:25] And a kid that looks like Dennis the Menace is looking back at
[18:29] her. Like the striped shirt and
[18:31] everything. Yeah, man, he's got the
[18:33] suspenders and the striped shirt.
[18:35] He looks exactly like Dennis the Menace with the blonde hair and
[18:38] everything. Yeah, and and this kids face is
[18:42] one of those faces that you swear he must be a grown up
[18:45] actor that we know today. He's got one of those faces.
[18:47] He just looks so familiar. He is not anybody.
[18:50] No, he is nobody. He's literally just in this I
[18:54] think, and he has like some few other credits from back then.
[18:56] Yeah, keep in mind, I looked it up a while ago, but when I was
[19:00] writing the notes, but I don't think he was in anything else of
[19:03] note. Yeah, but he says to his mom
[19:06] that Ruby's gone and she goes outside and yells for Ruby, but
[19:10] no one answers her back. And she yells up into the sky.
[19:14] Yeah, she's like Ruby. Ruby.
[19:18] Just like when Metal Gear Solid protagonist Snake dies.
[19:21] That's about, I was gonna say, oh, Ruby.
[19:24] Ruby. Ruby.
[19:26] Ruby. Ruby.
[19:30] That's that's if anyone want plays Metal Gear you you get the
[19:32] reference. Solid Ruby.
[19:34] Solid Ruby. Oh wow, they are solid.
[19:37] Typically, yeah. If Ruby wasn't solid, I wouldn't
[19:40] believe it was Ruby. But then we get the opening
[19:42] credits and when we come back we're at the FBI HQ where
[19:45] Blevins is chastising Scully for Molder ordering and OK for an
[19:50] official investigation. That's a run on sentence.
[19:52] Holy shit. Basically based on an article
[19:55] about the abduction from the cold opening.
[19:57] What a run on sentence I wrote. Yeah, right.
[20:00] No, but it's, it's a, it's a what the fuck you call those
[20:03] like a tabloid article? Yeah, like a like a bullsh, like
[20:05] where they have a picture like a new baby born who's like got 4
[20:10] heads. Check it out.
[20:11] And like, it's obviously just bullshit crazy.
[20:13] Shit bat boy. Yeah, Bat Boy.
[20:15] That's a famous one. It's one of those tabloids.
[20:17] It says little girl abducted by aliens or whatever it says and
[20:21] he opens next file based on solely that apparently.
[20:25] But then he gives her the file. Yeah, Blevins pulls out the file
[20:30] about Samantha Mulder's abductions and asks if, in her
[20:34] opinion, Mulder may want to take this proposed case of some kind
[20:37] of personal need to fix his sister's disappearance.
[20:42] Which I mean. The case is basically very
[20:46] similar to the case that him his sister going missing when he was
[20:50] younger has a lot of connection to it I suppose, but there's not
[20:54] a lot of evidence of any sort for this newer one that makes it
[20:57] when it's just girl of a give or take.
[21:00] Same age got abducted. They were trying.
[21:03] That's the connection. They were trying to make some
[21:05] connections, I guess. But yeah, I mean, Blevins isn't
[21:09] wrong here, though. That is why the case piques his
[21:11] interest. I mean, he talks about his
[21:13] sister later, so. Well, that one he got into it
[21:15] all in the first place. Yeah, I mean.
[21:17] Yeah, but his dad as well, which you don't know anything about
[21:20] his dad yet, but his dad was in the VI two or something.
[21:26] We'll figure out. We'll.
[21:28] Talk about it later today because I couldn't even tell
[21:30] you. I'm pretty sure they were they
[21:31] were government workers of some sort.
[21:35] But Blevins decides to not let the case go through.
[21:39] But Scully asked if she can talk to Mulder first to make a
[21:42] recommendation. And back in the X zone, Scully
[21:45] thinks that this situation doesn't warrant investigation.
[21:49] She picks up a tabloid newspaper because Mulder likes a little
[21:53] light reading, of course, and he just has one laying around.
[21:55] He has a few. Oh I'm sure he has a just a
[21:58] stack in the back. I'm sure he's got a stack of
[22:00] some kind of magazines in the back for.
[22:02] Certain, but Scully asked what the difference is between this
[22:06] and the story of the 100 year old Lizzie lizard baby mother.
[22:11] Apparently a 100 year old woman gave birth to a lizard baby.
[22:14] Did you see that? Yeah, there was a tabloid.
[22:16] Wow, I'm. Surprised.
[22:17] He didn't bring up the bad boy. Yeah, that would have been.
[22:20] That's I feel like that's I think that that that is
[22:23] definitely referenced. In X-Files.
[22:25] Yeah, I'm almost. It's that picture of the.
[22:28] Yeah, I'm. Certain that that's actually
[22:30] referenced at some point during The X-Files, during the entire.
[22:33] Oh, for sure, they got to. They got.
[22:35] To. It might be later, but for sure.
[22:37] Just like an Easter egg in the background of maybe a scene from
[22:40] Jose Chung's Which Mother, Mother.
[22:43] What the hell? You know which Mom.
[22:44] Mother. Go to the children, not to come
[22:48] my way. But whenever we get to that
[22:52] episode, Mom, it's probably going to be your favorite of the
[22:54] whole series so far. But that's in Season 3 we're
[22:56] going to get. That I mean pulse farm for
[22:58] Antheus. That's a great one too, but
[22:59] she's already seen that one technically.
[23:00] But she doesn't. Remember.
[23:01] She doesn't remember it. She'll remember it halfway
[23:03] through. But Mulder says that the lizard
[23:06] baby wasn't born near Lake Okoboji, Iowa, which is a UFO
[23:11] hotspot. And Mulder gives Scully a
[23:14] rundown of the strange activity in the area, which is where the
[23:18] abduction from the cold open took place.
[23:21] Which the rundown includes the UFO sighting in 1967 in which a
[23:25] Girl Scout troop saw unexplained phenomena and one of them
[23:29] snapped a picture. One of those Girl Scouts,
[23:32] Darlene Morris, was a mother from the cold open.
[23:35] I know. And you know, when I first watch
[23:37] it, I didn't make the connections like I needed to.
[23:40] But when I just watched it again, and I think I'm always
[23:43] going to have to watch it at least twice because the first
[23:45] time I'm trying to get my notes, you know, and then I'm like, oh,
[23:49] OK, I'm getting it and cutting this, making a connection, and
[23:53] I'm understanding it better. Yeah, yeah, there's and there's.
[23:58] Like about her being in the Girl Scout troop and.
[24:00] Her being in the Girl Scouts and at first when I saw the pic the
[24:04] when they pull the file up and I see the picture of the little
[24:07] girl for some reason my brain says this a little girl that
[24:10] just got abducted. You know what?
[24:12] That's what I thought when I when I thought too like I was
[24:15] like, oh, that's the older because I remember I asked her,
[24:17] I was like, how old is her daughter?
[24:19] Yeah. And because I was like, is she a
[24:21] little girl or is she like a teen girl?
[24:23] I wasn't sure. And is she's a teen girl And
[24:26] yeah. And then one.
[24:28] Of them teens. So when I was watching, I was
[24:30] like, oh, oh, this morning I was like, wow.
[24:33] OK, now I understand. It's all coming together.
[24:36] Yeah. So the agents pull up to Misses
[24:41] Morris's house after talking to her on the phone the night
[24:44] before, and Miss Morris is sporting a hand cast because out
[24:49] she burned the shit out of her hand.
[24:51] It's not a cast, it's just a wrap.
[24:52] It's a wrap. It's a hand wrap.
[24:54] Yep, a cast is the hard thing. That's just a wrap of stuff you.
[24:58] Don't know how hard her hand was.
[25:01] OK, she's taking finger Viagra. Some people have finger food.
[25:06] You show up to a party and they have finger Viagra.
[25:08] Get out, I'm out of there. But she introduces the agents to
[25:16] her son Kevin, who is locked the fuck in on coloring.
[25:19] Oh yeah, he is locked in on coloring.
[25:21] He's locked in on these spreadsheets.
[25:23] He's ignoring them. Yeah, he is.
[25:26] And there's a really weird moment here where Molder touches
[25:29] a picture of Mrs. Morris's daughter by a pool in a
[25:32] swimsuit. Yeah.
[25:34] And he like. Puts his I understand what they
[25:37] were going for as he was like he was like thinking about her
[25:43] she's missing and how it's so sad like he was being he was
[25:46] being like sensitive person. But it's it's weird that he puts
[25:50] three of his fingers, which like basically cover most of her main
[25:54] body part area, like her chest and legs and everything is a
[25:57] size. And he puts his his fingers on
[26:00] her whole body and then longingly looks at it.
[26:04] It's a little weird it. Looks kind of creepy.
[26:06] It does. If you would have put his finger
[26:08] like on her head where her hair is, it just be like, oh, it
[26:10] might have. Been OK if she wasn't wearing a
[26:12] swimsuit, yeah. Yeah, it was.
[26:14] Just that was a weird picture. I think this didn't mean
[26:16] anything by it, but it was still just weird.
[26:18] Is Mulder in the X theme files? Oh my God, I'm sorry, I know you
[26:24] didn't. If if you want any kind of time
[26:27] reference right now it's what is it, March 2026.
[26:30] I don't know when we're going to put this out.
[26:32] Why are we dating it? Because it's actually good to
[26:35] date it a little bit. I guess.
[26:36] So, so people understand. How long it took to put out
[26:39] these episodes? I didn't say what day in March.
[26:46] But he he also reminded me here again, Remember, we showed you
[26:50] that picture a couple episodes ago where Molder was obsessing
[26:54] over the picture of the aircraft or the mysterious picture, and
[26:59] he was like, rubbing it like Wolverine.
[27:00] We showed you The Wolverine thing.
[27:02] Yeah. The picture The Wolverine's
[27:04] holding a picture looking at it longingly.
[27:06] He rubs it that's he reminded me of that.
[27:09] But Scully suggests it could have been Missus Morris's
[27:11] ex-husband, which Missus Morris says isn't what happened.
[27:15] She's convinced it was the same thing from her sighting in 67.
[27:19] She asked Molder if they took her.
[27:22] He doesn't answer and instead asks if he can speak to Kevin.
[27:25] Yeah, he he avoids answering that completely.
[27:27] You know, he don't want to I guess, implicate himself because
[27:30] he's already in like on thin ice because of.
[27:33] This I was going to say, it's more like he generally genuinely
[27:37] just does not know and doesn't want to give her the wrong
[27:39] answer. Yeah, could be.
[27:41] Like he he thinks it is what he thinks it is, but he only thinks
[27:45] it's that he doesn't know. It's that he can't tell her.
[27:49] Somebody doesn't know. Yeah, that's true.
[27:51] He's very. Or he's just a pussy.
[27:53] Bitch he has a lot of theories but it seems like he won't like,
[27:56] you know, give someone hope or like she she needed like a
[28:00] answer you know he doesn't want to give her something that could
[28:02] make her upset later if she finds out it's not true.
[28:04] Yeah, exactly. If he's oh, she's perfectly
[28:06] fine. And then later.
[28:08] Oh God, she got hit by a big rig because she was running.
[28:11] Isn't she supposed to be in a wheelchair?
[28:13] That's a different episode. Oh yeah, that's a different
[28:16] episode, guys. Call back.
[28:18] But Mulder sits by Kevin who is coloring in front of a staticky
[28:22] TV and ask Kevin about the nightmare his mom says he's
[28:26] having This. This is actually a great point
[28:30] though to bring up that this is they had a tie in for this
[28:34] episode. Oh, really?
[28:36] Yes, they had a tie in where for a brief time in 1993 they had
[28:41] this number you could call and Chris Carter, the inventor, the
[28:44] the inventor, the creator of The X-Files would come out and fix
[28:48] your TV. Unfortunately, Chris Carter has
[28:51] no television repair training, so mostly he would just stand
[28:54] around in overalls and ask you if you had tried unplugging it
[28:57] and plugging it back in. So they ended up only having 2
[29:00] customers and one of them was David Duchovny because he was
[29:03] lonely. His TV worked fine.
[29:05] The. Other one was probably the actor
[29:08] who played Kevin. Probably.
[29:10] What the fuck is wrong with my TV?
[29:12] Chris, this is my TV you're using.
[29:14] I brought it from home. But Kevin says that he has been
[29:22] having nightmares, but that he doesn't want to talk about them.
[29:26] And then Moulder notices that Kevin is making strange
[29:28] markings, not coloring. He asked him to take a look.
[29:32] It's a series of ones and zeros. Kevin points at the TV and says
[29:36] it's coming from there. Poltergeist, anybody?
[29:39] Yeah. I know that's what I thought of
[29:41] too. Poltergeist.
[29:42] Yeah, but they go to the Sheriff's Office and they're.
[29:47] Mulder sends the sequence to an FBI crypto analyst for analysis,
[29:52] he assumes. A crypto analyst is a different
[29:55] thing nowadays. Yeah, damn.
[29:59] Wow. That's a whole different career
[30:00] field. Yep, that's, yeah, very
[30:02] different. He assumes Ruby Morris ran away.
[30:06] The sheriff does and so he says it wouldn't be her first time
[30:10] this sheriff doesn't believe what Miss Moore says she saw
[30:13] either. He's been hearing her quote UN
[30:16] quote stories since she was in first grade because of how
[30:20] fucking old is he he because back in.
[30:23] Right. So it's so so 30, let's just say
[30:25] 30 years ago is when all that stuff happened, right?
[30:28] Give or take, obviously. So if he would have been
[30:30] sheriff, was he sheriff back then?
[30:33] Yes, he was, yeah. Because that one he would have
[30:35] to be he. That means he's like 60.
[30:37] Here. He's not, first of all.
[30:40] Second of all, why would you still be Sheriff that old?
[30:43] Yeah. Like 5055 is a point where like
[30:47] you, you're, you need a different role.
[30:49] That's not such a physical role at a certain point.
[30:53] But because of that, he never bothered to check into her
[30:57] claims. He says that she was a
[30:59] delinquent, that it was just a matter of time until something
[31:02] bad happened to her and if her mother was to invent wild
[31:06] stories. OK, they're talking.
[31:08] OK, I got tripped up here because I didn't clarify.
[31:11] They're talking about Ruby now, saying he says that he's pulled
[31:14] her out of parked cars. Yeah, like she's promiscuous.
[31:18] Yeah, she just gets drunk, does drugs, I guess, stuff like that.
[31:23] But so. She's basically the implication
[31:25] that he says here is that, oh, she did drugs and slept with
[31:30] boys, so she deserved what happened.
[31:32] Yeah, he doesn't say that specifically.
[31:35] That's totally. But that's his vibe.
[31:37] And it's kind of a little, you know, victim blaming kind of
[31:39] bullshit. Kind of skeezy I.
[31:41] Got down. He's apos with an attitude and a
[31:43] badge. There you go.
[31:45] Hell yeah, Mom. Yeah, that's pretty much, yeah.
[31:47] I. DAP my mom up for everybody that
[31:50] is listening and can't see. I was going to say everybody
[31:52] that can't see, but we're the only people that can see.
[31:56] But anyway, he says that if Ruby's mother has to invent wild
[32:00] stories to make herself feel better, so be it.
[32:02] But he's not going to waste his time on it.
[32:05] And it's going Tisk, Tisk's molder for not cozying up to
[32:11] local law enforcement. He says he'll send him a bundt
[32:14] cake. But when he goes to.
[32:16] Get When he goes to get into his vehicle, there's a note under
[32:20] the wiper blade. It says I'm across the street.
[32:23] Follow me They see a woman across the street and follow her
[32:26] into a library. Which is insane.
[32:30] I understand they're in a public place, but if for for I would
[32:33] think that I guess. I'm not an FBI agent so it
[32:36] doesn't really matter. Nothing like this ever happened
[32:38] to me, but if I walked out and saw a note on my car that said
[32:41] follow me, I'm across the street, I'm like, fuck that, I'm
[32:45] out and I'd be gone. I wouldn't follow.
[32:47] No one. Nowhere.
[32:48] What? Yeah, like.
[32:49] That's some. No, definitely not these days.
[32:52] That's just some real weird shit.
[32:54] But inside the library, she asked them if they're looking
[32:57] for Ruby. Scully says yes and asks her who
[33:00] she is. The woman says it doesn't
[33:02] matter, she's someone that used to hang out with Ruby.
[33:05] She says her boyfriend Greg was supposed to see Ruby the night
[33:09] she would disappeared. They were supposed to talk that
[33:11] night because Ruby was pregnant with Greg's baby.
[33:14] Ruby told her that she and Greg were leaving town together.
[33:18] Turns out Greg is an adult that works at the pub.
[33:21] Uh oh, uh oh, uh. And just then, an old woman
[33:25] behind the agents dropped some books, and when they look back,
[33:28] the unnamed woman has Batmanned away.
[33:31] You ever see Batman whenever he's talking to Commissioner
[33:33] Gordon? Commissioner Gordon turns around
[33:34] and he's gone already. That's what she did.
[33:37] How the hell did she do that? She did smoke bomb.
[33:40] That's like, dude, they walk around the corner and go and
[33:42] then they they look down the aisle that she was in, don't see
[33:45] her and then go Oh well, and turn around and walk away like
[33:49] go the direction she went and look like I'm I'm.
[33:52] Like the aliens, they came and got her out of that situation.
[33:55] I think Mom's on to something. That's the damned alien.
[33:58] That's. Going to be the answer for
[33:59] everything. Like George Sukalukas or
[34:01] whatever the hell his name is. You ever see the meme of that
[34:03] guy that says aliens man no. But I'll look.
[34:07] It up, I can show her that. It's worth it.
[34:10] It's pretty funny. I may have seen it you.
[34:12] Know you probably have. You never see this guy.
[34:17] He's got a nice head of hair on him.
[34:19] Yeah, do you? First of all, the main thing
[34:21] about him that you need to understand is that during this
[34:23] video when he's saying all this stuff, he looks stoned as.
[34:26] Hell. And he's talking about like
[34:29] aliens, man, it was aliens. Like it's, it's very.
[34:35] Strange, but anyway. So they head to the pub Greg
[34:38] works at to talk to him, and when they're there they see a
[34:42] bartender that looks like young Mick Foley.
[34:46] Like 2 AT. Can we just say how much leather
[34:49] is in this plane? It's.
[34:50] A leather bar for. Sure, there's enough leather
[34:52] straps to hold up the Titanic. For real, it's you.
[34:57] So I know that you and your husband watch a little bit of
[35:01] wrestling. Have you watched any older
[35:04] stuff? Like, do you know who Mick Foley
[35:06] is? I probably did.
[35:08] I used to watch wrestling when I was a teenager too.
[35:12] Do you remember what this bartender looks like?
[35:14] Can you picture the bartender with?
[35:16] The weird ear. Yeah, I can tell.
[35:19] Me. That's not the same guy.
[35:20] Almost right him. It.
[35:22] Could, yeah, it's not, but it definitely looks like him for
[35:25] sure. And this dude, this bartender?
[35:26] Dude, same genre of man. Yeah, if you if you just made
[35:30] Mick Foley have like more cross eyed and.
[35:33] Blue eyes. And blue eyes, it's like the
[35:35] same person. It really is.
[35:38] We did. That during the episode 3 times
[35:41] where we said the exact same thing, we almost said, yeah, we
[35:44] do that a lot. But so they start asking Mick
[35:47] Foley about Greg and Mick Foley says Greg called in sick 2 weeks
[35:51] ago and he hasn't heard from him since and he tells them he
[35:55] doesn't know where he is but if they see him to tell him he's
[35:58] fired. Scully.
[36:01] Scully, you imagine if they did just run into him and what
[36:05] happened to him didn't happen. They're like like, like imagine
[36:08] like Greg is alive, right? Because spoiler alert he's dead.
[36:11] Imagine if yeah, imagine if Greg was alive in like 5 episodes
[36:16] from now. Mulder ran into him.
[36:18] He's like oh Greg right? Shit, you don't have a job.
[36:22] Five years later. Or whatever.
[36:26] That one guy you worked for who looked like Mick Foley?
[36:28] Yeah. He fired you.
[36:29] Yeah, he said. Don't come back.
[36:30] He'll send you the check. Wait, you said older wrestling?
[36:33] Was Mick Foley a wrestler at this time in time in 1994?
[36:39] Was it 3? Three, yeah.
[36:41] Oh wow, yeah. Winky Dink.
[36:43] He was a wrestler in the late 80s to the early 2000.
[36:48] Did you ever look up to say if that is see?
[36:49] Because when I looked him up, I didn't check, but was that guy
[36:52] ever in wrestling? I don't know, but he has a face
[36:54] for it. He would make a great heel.
[36:57] Was that ear fake or real? I'm sure it was fake.
[37:00] Oh yeah. It was fake, OK, but Scully
[37:03] gives them their contact info just in case.
[37:05] And as they go to leave, Molder spots a UFO tattoo on Foley's
[37:09] arm. He asked him if he believes in
[37:11] that sort of stuff. Is this Molder flirting?
[37:15] It's a little flirty, but I see what he does here.
[37:18] He uses reverse psychology on him.
[37:20] Yeah, he's like, I'm here, probably about to say, but he's
[37:22] like, oh, I don't believe in that kind of shit.
[37:25] Can you prove it? And the guy's like, go to this
[37:28] place unless he uses reverse psychology on him.
[37:30] Totally. Yes, exactly.
[37:32] Yeah. It was clever.
[37:34] Yeah, Mulder asks him if he believes in that sort of stuff,
[37:37] and Foley says I'm guessing you don't.
[37:39] And Mulder outright lies and says, Nah, that's just crazy
[37:43] people howling at the moon. And Foley, to your point, tells
[37:47] him to go out to Lake Okaboji. I've wrote it down as Ogaboji,
[37:51] but I'm pretty sure it's Okaboji.
[37:53] There's definitely AK in it. Definitely, and he says it might
[37:56] change his mind. He then theatrically pulls back
[37:59] his hair to reveal a mangled ear.
[38:02] A very gross, burnt, icky looking ear thing.
[38:06] He says he got a killer sunburn in the middle of the night.
[38:09] And he's happy of. It Yeah.
[38:11] And then he looks back and he's got 1 lazy eye, so when he turns
[38:15] his head, his other eye takes an extra second to catch but he's
[38:20] looking at you straight for a second.
[38:21] You can't tell. But when he turns is when I kind
[38:23] of drifts. It's he's a very creepy,
[38:27] disturbing looking man. And Mulder leans in close for
[38:31] some reason, maybe going in for a kiss, yeah, maybe.
[38:34] But young Mick Foley turns around, laughing.
[38:36] Heartbreaking. Scully looks on, concerned.
[38:39] Before we fade to black and they're at the Stay and Save
[38:45] Motor Inn and the sign tells you that they have gift
[38:49] certificates, which is great if you want to give someone a stay
[38:54] and Save gift certificate. Hottest item of Christmas 2026,
[38:59] right? It's 5:30 in the morning and
[39:02] Scully wakes to voices outside and she sees silhouettes on the
[39:06] curtain. Her doorknob turns, but it's
[39:08] locked. She goes for her firearm, but
[39:11] the doors kicked open. Men in suits with flashlights
[39:15] ask her where Molder is. Which why?
[39:19] Because you spoiler, you find out these are like government
[39:22] guys. Just in a second you find this
[39:24] out. Why do they go in her room
[39:27] looking for Molder? They think they're sleeping
[39:29] together. So that was what I thought.
[39:30] That's what she said. I thought it was just the.
[39:32] That's what she said. That's what you said.
[39:35] I thought it was just a 5050 chance and they got Scully's
[39:38] room first. But.
[39:39] Yeah, but but you know what if if say they just went in and
[39:43] Mulder went in or Scully went in by themselves and said hey I
[39:45] need 2 rooms and bought them. They don't know which key goes
[39:49] to which. So it's possible that we're just
[39:50] wrong and we're to making it more than it is.
[39:53] But that was what I thought. There's so many inuations.
[39:56] He didn't think that at all. There is, yeah.
[39:58] You didn't think that at all. That wasn't your first thought,
[40:00] was it? That was my first thought.
[40:01] Because he's sweet and innocent still.
[40:03] She doesn't know you. In in Molder's room because
[40:08] Scully snitched a. Little snitched.
[40:11] These men in suits stand in front of a shirtless Molder
[40:14] looking disappointed, a scene that I'm sure Molder has
[40:17] repeated many times throughout his life.
[40:20] Looking disappointed they never got a shirt on.
[40:22] Yeah, well, there's men in suits looking at him shirtless,
[40:25] disappointed. Yeah.
[40:27] Yeah, probably. Throughout his short FBI career,
[40:30] many times so far, yes. They ask him where he got the
[40:34] document and they produce a copy of the facts that he sent to HQ
[40:38] of the ones and zeros. Ones and zeros the document.
[40:42] And he tells them. It just looks like a bunch of
[40:44] numbers to me. One of the men, Holtzman,
[40:48] threatens to haul Molder's ass before the D6, whatever that is.
[40:52] I don't know, it sounds threatening, I guess.
[40:54] Right. Molder touts he's only
[40:57] accountable to his subcommittee, he doesn't care if it's the NSA
[41:01] or the Vatican police. They relent and tell Mulder the
[41:04] sequence is a defense satellite transmission.
[41:07] It's not a full transmission, but it's highly classified and
[41:11] they need to know how Mulder obtained it.
[41:13] He plays coy and Holtzman tells Mulder that he's just bought
[41:17] himself a one way ticket to Washington.
[41:20] Back to Washington and the other agent's phone rings and he tells
[41:25] Holtzman we've got it and they promptly leave.
[41:29] Can we just talk about molders bed head?
[41:33] Was it bad this? Was massive bed head.
[41:38] He was tossing and turning in his.
[41:40] Sleep. He did some break dancing.
[41:42] He was doing that spin on top of your head in the bed.
[41:47] He walks in. He's like, this is just how I
[41:49] sleep, Scully. Gosh, don't make fun of me.
[41:53] He's just on the bed with his His hands on the top of his head
[41:56] are the only things touching the bed.
[41:58] His legs are just in the air. He's doing this with his legs.
[42:08] Oh my God. Oh, and you know what?
[42:10] If you like that mom, there is. There's some great hair moments
[42:14] with Mulder coming up. Yes.
[42:17] And just some outfit stuff with Molder that just doesn't make
[42:21] any sense. Oh boy, it.
[42:22] Makes a lot of sense. The one.
[42:24] Does. The what?
[42:27] The one does. Oh yeah, I know what you're
[42:28] talking about, but. If you know, you know.
[42:34] Molder intuits at Scully must have given them info on the boy.
[42:37] He asked her why she says they were NSA.
[42:40] They believe Kevin is a national threat, I guess.
[42:43] Poor Kevin. Six year.
[42:45] Old poor Kevin. Mulder says.
[42:47] And they call me paranoid. So.
[42:52] Well, anyway, the NSA agents are tossing Kevin's room like he's
[42:55] young, scarfacing. Oh my.
[42:57] God. They're confiscating his match,
[43:00] match Mark's scars and action figures for some reason.
[43:03] He's got like cute little just drawings of like flowers and
[43:07] shit on the wall and they just tear everything off the wall,
[43:11] flip over and the only thing they end up taking is like some
[43:14] boxes of the papers of him drawing the ones that's here.
[43:18] That's it. If they did that to my kid, I'd
[43:19] be out there fist fighting the government.
[43:22] Broken Piggy Bank. And they?
[43:26] Threw his books on the ground. This.
[43:29] These assholes. Assholes, man.
[43:33] But. It just comes in and is like.
[43:37] They're just saying he's, he says, wow, you're doing such
[43:40] delicate work, boys. Or something like that.
[43:42] Yeah, he's obviously very sarcastic.
[43:45] But the agents arrived just in time to see Miss Morris and
[43:49] Kevin get escorted hastily out of their house and.
[43:53] Then they separate. Them.
[43:54] Yeah, they separate them. And it makes me so mad.
[43:57] Yeah. I knew you would be that way,
[43:58] too. Like, they, they're walking them
[43:59] out together. And she's, like, got her arm
[44:01] around his shoulder and they're all walking together.
[44:03] And all of a sudden, one of the cops just like, OK, Kevin, this
[44:05] way. And they're like, whoa, whoa,
[44:07] whoa, whoa. Purpose.
[44:08] Of. Separate because they think he's
[44:11] a spot I don't understand. They think he's a spy or
[44:14] something like. Like he's a cherub agent from
[44:17] those books. Right.
[44:18] Like if anything they would if it was me and I was in their
[44:21] positions. If anything I would think it was
[44:22] the mother who's actually the spy and like somehow doing stuff
[44:26] through her son or something. Not the kid, babe.
[44:29] What? Do you think?
[44:30] Oh God, do you think that when they got to the station with the
[44:33] kid they did like a perp walk? Like they walked them around in
[44:37] handcuffs like Luigi Mangioni or something.
[44:41] Do you remember Luigi Angione? Yes, I.
[44:43] Remember. Yep, look, this is the fucker
[44:45] that did it. I remember him and his eyebrows.
[44:48] That's how he got caught, those brows.
[44:50] Right. He should have done some
[44:52] manicuring. Yeah, or just like a better hat.
[44:58] A better hat will get you far in hit man, yes.
[45:01] This is true. But Mulder Molder is inside now
[45:06] and for fuck's sake they broke the kids Piggy Bank open like
[45:09] Mom mentioned. Yeah, they do.
[45:11] He steps over. That's how he mentions the
[45:12] delicate line and. Then, yeah, he commends the
[45:14] douchebags for their delicate approach.
[45:17] Molder looks out a window and there's a camper with what
[45:20] appears to be a scorched roof. Oh yeah, and Molder goes to
[45:24] inspect it and he pulls some of the black substance off and
[45:27] smells it. He so like we were talking about
[45:31] it like Goo Molder is what we Spooky is Molder's nickname,
[45:35] sure, but his real nickname is Goo Molder because this dude
[45:39] will touch as many substances that you put in front of him and
[45:42] you don't know what he does with him.
[45:44] It's like a kid, you don't know if he's going to pick his ear
[45:46] and then put it in his mouth and scratch his foot or what he's
[45:49] going to do with it. But.
[45:52] You got. The second base which is
[45:53] smelling. Yes, he did not get to licking.
[45:56] Touching his first base, smelling his second, licking his
[46:00] third, and I don't know what we. Don't want to talk about home
[46:03] runs? Yeah, we don't talk about.
[46:05] We don't talk about. We don't talk about home run.
[46:08] We need to talk about Kevin. Oh God.
[46:10] Remember that movie? Yes, I've been thinking about
[46:12] that the whole time I watched this episode.
[46:14] There's a famous movie called We Need to Talk About Kevin.
[46:16] I think Kevin is a serial killer school shooter.
[46:21] Played by wonderful human being Ezra Miller.
[46:24] Oh, that was sarcasm. About we don't talk about Bruno.
[46:30] What the fuck is? That I don't know what that is,
[46:33] Cartoon. No, From when?
[46:35] Very recently by this. Thing that makes sense that we
[46:37] don't know about it. It's a Pixar, Disney type deal,
[46:40] yeah. But we need to talk about Kevin.
[46:42] It's a, it's, it's what's, it's a like it's got John C.
[46:45] Yeah, it's Cate Blanchett and John C.
[46:47] Reilly, pay the parents. And John C Reilly, school
[46:50] shooter, dies horrifically. It's pretty sad.
[46:53] It's a sad, awful. I mean, I suppose it's well made
[46:59] and acted and stuff, but it's an awful movie.
[47:01] Better than Antichrist? I'll never watch anti.
[47:03] You ever seen Antichrist mom? You would never in a.
[47:07] No, you have not. You would remember it.
[47:10] We're never gonna watch Antichrist, but can I describe
[47:12] to you the one of the worst scenes in it?
[47:14] Yes, there. Try to skip ahead if you don't
[47:17] like gory stuff. But there's a scene.
[47:20] I know there's a scene. Willem Dafoe is the main
[47:23] character in it and his wife is like possessed by witches or
[47:27] something out in the woods. Demons maybe I.
[47:29] Don't know something and she puts like a bar through his
[47:33] where his Achilles heel and his leg are or something and puts a
[47:37] weight on it so he can't walk because he's got like a 30
[47:41] pound, 60 LB weight right there. And when he even tries to pull
[47:44] on it, it's like. Three and there is like in a
[47:46] horrible, horrible scene, she smashes his penis with a rock
[47:50] and jerks him off till he comes blood.
[47:52] Nah man, I hadn't seen that and I will.
[47:55] No, it's awful. I, I I love that scene where the
[48:01] woman is in the stiletto in that one movie.
[48:04] She steps on that guy's ball. Oh, Maxine.
[48:07] Maxine Yeah, Maxine with 3X's right?
[48:09] Yeah, that was a horrible thing. It came out of nowhere too.
[48:13] Like I was like, oh, she's gonna like stab him or something.
[48:15] Nope. Step on the ball.
[48:16] Yeah, it, it's it. Did you watch that one?
[48:21] Yeah. Oh, 'cause we told you about it
[48:22] before. Yeah.
[48:23] We don't need to talk about it. Oh.
[48:25] I said I made sure my husband saw it.
[48:29] Look what's about to happen. Watch this part.
[48:31] You sorry son of a bitch, you treat me any bad ever again and
[48:34] this is what's going to happen of any bad he.
[48:37] Doesn't treat me bad by the way. And that's why.
[48:42] But that's the trick to a good relationship is you show any man
[48:46] that you want to be with that scene and say if you misbehave,
[48:50] this is what happens and I promise they'll always behave.
[48:52] What's like if there's two women in a relationship, though?
[48:56] It's like you're gonna put your boob on the counter and I'm
[48:58] gonna stomp on it. Yeah, boobs still little
[49:01] horrible little boob. Yeah, you feel.
[49:04] Better now that you made us feel the same way you felt for a
[49:06] second ago. I guess, but if the regional
[49:10] FBIHQA woman tells the agents that besides the satellite
[49:15] transmission, nothing in 77 pages of evidence constitutes a
[49:18] national security threat and that Kevin will be released
[49:22] later in the day, thank God for that.
[49:25] I mean, where'd they put him? In the murderer section or the
[49:27] fucking like, I don't know where'd?
[49:30] They, I miss, you know what, You know what a lot of police
[49:33] stations have, and this is, I'm just being logical here.
[49:36] I know you're trying to be funny, but I'm being serious.
[49:38] A lot of police stations have like a kids room.
[49:40] Yeah. For like if a parent gets
[49:43] arrested with their like 7 year old kid and they have to figure
[49:46] out what to do, like yeah they're gonna call not DHS, the
[49:52] kids, department, custody, whatever.
[49:54] You know what it's. Called in that place, but they
[49:56] have like a special room with probably like the race car
[49:58] carpet and the little chairs and the fucking yellow, red and
[50:01] green blocks and. You know what it is?
[50:03] It's just one plain room with solid wood floors and there's a
[50:07] toy box in it and there's a guy in a full bomb squad get up that
[50:12] looks like Doom guy just watching them like all paranoid
[50:16] like oh shit, something's about to happen with his child.
[50:18] There's a toy box and all that's in it is books at this beyond
[50:22] their reading level. College level books.
[50:26] The way these damn, the way these damn NSA agents treat toys
[50:32] and stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if all the toys in the
[50:34] toy box look like the Sid from a Toy Story's toys where he melded
[50:38] them all together and mashed them apart.
[50:40] Right. But the woman shows the agent
[50:45] what the transmission held, which is stuff like Da Vinci's
[50:49] Universal Man, a 3D rendering of Adna, Double Helix, and even
[50:54] some Shakespeare. Yeah, among many, many other
[50:58] things like just all the things like all the knowledge of
[51:02] history of man type stuff yeah like the the lyrics or the the
[51:06] the notes for music and. Just and did you say DNA?
[51:11] Yeah, OK. You know what, Mom?
[51:14] Double Helix. I was on an episode of the grind
[51:17] bin mini bin yesterday That's behind a pay wall.
[51:20] It's their bonus content basically.
[51:22] And we somehow we got on The Rolling Stones song Start Me Up
[51:29] and that they didn't know that they say you make a dead man
[51:32] come again. Oh, I.
[51:33] Know and and when I tell people that they no, no, they don't say
[51:37] that. But they do.
[51:39] It's on Genius, which is a lyrics site.
[51:42] I don't know if you know Genius, but it's a lyrics site.
[51:43] You can look up lyrics. Yeah, any song that you ever
[51:46] hear, if you don't know what the lyrics are, just type in the
[51:49] name of the song in Genius and it'll tell you what it says.
[51:52] And yeah, they didn't know that it said that at the end.
[51:55] I mean, that's cool. Did you tell them?
[51:57] Yeah, you're the one that told Mom.
[51:59] Right. But Mrs. Morris is it.
[52:04] Good God. Mrs. Morris is escorted out and
[52:10] is met by Mulder and Scully in the hallway.
[52:12] She's pissed at them. Oh yeah, she gives them the
[52:15] luck. Scully tells her it's been a
[52:17] huge mistake and that the government's going to pay for
[52:19] any damages. You know what?
[52:21] Them damn bastards were so spiteful and vindictive when
[52:24] they were in there. I'm surprised there wasn't just
[52:26] a dude that was punching the wall and then moving over a
[52:29] couple of feet and then punching the wall again.
[52:31] Like what the hell? Those assholes.
[52:33] And she says I don't want your money, which I mean that's all
[52:37] fine and dandy, but yes you do y'all.
[52:40] Paying for every damn thing in. Here, it's going to cost you
[52:42] like I've. I've looked up maid services
[52:44] recently to wonder what like a deep cleaning for houses and
[52:47] you're talking hundreds, not only hundreds.
[52:49] Giving us a new Piggy Bank, but you're putting all hundreds in
[52:52] it. Hell yeah, you tell them, Mom.
[52:54] Fill them with hundreds, bitch. But yeah, she says she doesn't
[52:58] want any money or care about anything except for having Ruby
[53:01] back, and she tells them to stay away from her and Kevin.
[53:04] She basically pulled a don't ever speak to me or my son ever
[53:08] again. Do you know that meme, Mom?
[53:10] No, we'll show you the meme on Mom's meme corner.
[53:14] Oh. My God.
[53:19] Don't speak to me or my son ever again.
[53:23] I thought Don't speak to me and my son ever Again was like an
[53:27] actual meme of like maybe in some show from the past or
[53:30] whatever she said that, but that's what it is.
[53:33] That's what it is. That's it.
[53:35] It's. Just an obese dog in there.
[53:38] And it's just an edited picture. Like it's not even anything.
[53:41] I thought it was like literally like a, a woman said that in a
[53:44] movie or show or something and people referenced it.
[53:47] And when I learned that's what it was, I was kind of
[53:48] disappointed. Not even gonna lie, I would.
[53:50] Be too. But they're on the road again,
[53:52] and Mulder misses his exit to go back to the airport, I guess to
[53:56] go back to Washington. And Scully asked him where
[53:59] they're going. He says he knows Kevin is the
[54:02] key to finding Ruby and he thinks Kevin is some kind of
[54:06] conduit. He said the thing.
[54:08] He did say the thing. And and he's a link or is
[54:13] connected to whoever or whatever took Ruby that night.
[54:18] Scully says she knows why this is important to Mulder,
[54:20] insinuating it reminds him of what happened to his sister.
[54:24] And they stop in Lake Okoboji at the same spot that Ruby was
[54:28] taken. Scully posit someone could have
[54:31] come from the forest and grabbed a Ruby.
[54:34] 'Cause they're like by a lake and like like a beach of a lake,
[54:36] but then it's forest all behind them too.
[54:39] It kind of reminds me of Calvin's Gap PA.
[54:42] Yeah, it kind of doesn't like that a little bit, yeah.
[54:44] It's like a lake in the middle of the mountains kind of thing.
[54:47] But Molder points out, the tops of a few trees in the distance
[54:50] are scorched to ash, and he also finds some sand that's been
[54:54] turned into glass. Scully says maybe a lightning
[54:58] storm. Oh brother, whatever series.
[55:01] Sweet Home Alabama, that movie. Yeah, that's how the guy in
[55:05] there get makes his glass and his glass.
[55:07] That's how he makes his glass. He says the lightning hits the
[55:10] sand on the beach and turns it to glass, and that's what he
[55:13] uses. Yeah, he searches the beach
[55:16] after he puts stuff out there specifically for the lighting to
[55:19] hit it, and he makes glass art out of the.
[55:23] Cell, I don't know if you really can do that.
[55:25] Yeah. You can.
[55:26] I've never seen Sweet Home Alabama.
[55:28] I know Reese Witherspoon's in it.
[55:29] We should watch it. That'd be cool.
[55:32] We should for real. You ever hear that joke, Mom?
[55:36] It's a it was a viral video. This woman is asking her mom
[55:39] like, hey, did you hear about that actress that died?
[55:42] And she was like who? And she's like Reese.
[55:44] What's her name? What's her name?
[55:46] She was stabbed. Her name is Reese.
[55:48] And she says Witherspoon. And she says no, she was stabbed
[55:51] with a knife. And the best part about this is
[55:57] you've done that joke to your mom in the past, and she said
[56:01] Witherspoon and you said no with a knife and she cracked up
[56:03] laughing, but she doesn't remember that at all.
[56:06] That's what makes it great. I know we could tell you the
[56:09] same joke like 2 * a year and you'll never remember.
[56:16] But just saying Scully spots a whimpering White Wolf and gets
[56:21] Molder's attention. It does also get our dog Foxy's
[56:25] attention. Oh yeah, and Molder goes molder
[56:29] mode here, and he comically holds out a paper to Scully's
[56:32] chest that she doesn't grab and let's drop to the ground.
[56:35] I don't know. If he's got like a, he's.
[56:37] Looking at the wolf and he's like and then starts to run in
[56:40] the paper that he had his hand just drops to the ground.
[56:43] Yeah, he. Goes like this.
[56:44] He's got the paper, sees like this, like slaps it against her
[56:46] chest and she's just looking at the wolf and doesn't even look
[56:49] at the papers. They fall.
[56:50] Albino Wolf. Yeah, yeah, it could be.
[56:54] Technically wolves can be white, but they could also be albino.
[56:57] But he chases after the white wolf and Molder sprints 3 feet
[57:02] into the woods. I swear to God he's running for
[57:04] like 2 1/2 seconds and. Then it's like stop, look
[57:08] around. And there's three of the wolves
[57:11] sniffing at a pile of rocks, and he shoots his gun in the air.
[57:15] That's the one that made Foxy go wild.
[57:17] Yeah, that's right, because and you could hear the dogs whining
[57:20] in the gun and everything all at the same time.
[57:21] That made Foxy go nuts. But I understand why he shot the
[57:25] gun is to get the foxes or wolves, whatever, away from the
[57:28] grave or what it looked like could be a grave at this point.
[57:30] He wasn't sure there would have been other ways to do that.
[57:34] That could literally because it's been known to happen that
[57:37] people will fire a gun in the sky and someone like, you know,
[57:39] 100, like the next town over gets hit in the head with a
[57:42] bullet. Like it happens.
[57:44] You're supposed to be careful with that.
[57:45] Kind of. I know the Challenger explosion
[57:47] happened in 1988, but Box Mulder was already in the FBI by that
[57:52] point. Do you think the Challenger
[57:53] explosion was caused by Mulder firing at the gun a gun into the
[57:57] air? Yeah, especially back in like 88
[57:59] when before he got as good as he is now, and he's still doing it
[58:01] now, so he must have done it back then.
[58:03] Mom, did you know that Big Bird was supposed to go on the
[58:06] Challenger and he didn't? Oh no, they're supposed to have
[58:11] Big Bird go on the Challenger, but they couldn't figure it out,
[58:14] like a costume or something weird.
[58:16] And so in his place that teacher went that was on the Challenger
[58:20] space shuttle and she died. But could you imagine, we've
[58:23] talked about this in a grinder. Could you imagine if Big Bird
[58:26] had went on there they and, and, and died in that explosion?
[58:30] They would either have to like, say hey guys, Oh my Big Bird
[58:35] went somewhere else and isn't coming back, or they'd have to
[58:37] like, say he died in the Challenger explosion.
[58:41] And then or. They'd have to bring him back
[58:43] and just not say anything. Yeah, that's what big.
[58:46] Bird would be fried bird. Yeah, or maybe.
[58:48] They have like. Big Bird fried Chicken.
[58:51] Maybe they have Big Bird's cousin Big Bert show up and he's
[58:54] just looks exactly like Big Bird.
[58:56] They already have a Bert. That's right.
[58:59] Oh. Man, Big Bert and Big Ernie.
[59:01] That's right, Bert and Ernie go to.
[59:03] White Castle. That's cool.
[59:05] Info. But anyway, aside from that
[59:07] little historical interesting tidbit, Scully runs in after she
[59:13] hears the gunshot and she finds Mulder looking at the rocks and
[59:15] he tells her it's a grave and he starts to move the rocks and
[59:19] Scully asks him what he's doing but he doesn't care.
[59:22] He continues. He's just like throwing rocks
[59:24] over his shoulder. And I have to know if it's her.
[59:26] Yeah, she tells him. He's disturbing a crime scene,
[59:29] but he still continues. And it's very like a kid who's
[59:33] been asked to stop playing Fortnite and go to bed, but he
[59:35] just keeps playing. And finally still, he grabs him
[59:39] and tells him to stop. He says he has to know if it's
[59:41] her. And after the commercial break,
[59:44] we come back to a full on crime scene with the agents looking
[59:47] on. Turns out it's not Ruby, but her
[59:50] boyfriend Greg Randall. And and you can see the sheriff
[59:55] just really hates the Morris family a lot because he brings
[59:59] up that Ruby had lots of boyfriends.
[1:00:01] When he says yeah, her boyfriend, he's like, Oh well,
[1:00:04] she had lots of boyfriends. She was a slut.
[1:00:05] Did we? I feel like maybe it's something
[1:00:08] that we you maybe learned later and I forgot, but is he was he
[1:00:11] connected to what happened back then in the day more than just
[1:00:15] he was the sheriff, Like it was one of his kids involved back in
[1:00:18] the day. So he's just kind of like, was
[1:00:20] it his sister's friend who got abducted or some shit like that?
[1:00:24] You know what it is? I think he was.
[1:00:26] So he was so pissed off after what happened during this
[1:00:30] episode that he moved to Texas and started studying to be a
[1:00:34] judge. And that's after that he sent
[1:00:36] Stanley Yellnats to Green Lake All.
[1:00:39] Right. I like how I didn't address
[1:00:43] anything you said at all. Yeah, you're good at that.
[1:00:46] Yeah, but they find Greg's wallet, and inside there's a
[1:00:52] piece of paper. What?
[1:00:54] There's something like I say about this.
[1:00:56] Do y'all notice that everybody has gloves on?
[1:00:59] Everybody has gloves on. Even Molder goes to put gloves
[1:01:03] on when he takes the wallet, but as he's reaching down to put
[1:01:07] gloves on, that cop scratches his chin with the edge of the.
[1:01:12] Wallet Yeah, I caught the choice like why did he scratch the
[1:01:16] wallet on his chin? That was weird your.
[1:01:18] Hands on it. What?
[1:01:20] The hell yeah. And like, he's got a glove on,
[1:01:22] but then he touches it to his face.
[1:01:24] He's. Just he's just rubbing in his
[1:01:26] mouth like a hot pocket. It's just a really weird thing
[1:01:29] to rub on your face. There's a lot of weird rubbings
[1:01:31] in. This It's a hot You know what it
[1:01:33] is? It's a hot pocketbook.
[1:01:38] Oh, anyway. Anyway.
[1:01:43] In the wallet there's a piece of paper that says Doctor Jack
[1:01:46] Fowler. August 7th, 2:30.
[1:01:48] They analyzed that note with the note that Ruby's friend left
[1:01:51] under the wiper in the handwriting matches.
[1:01:54] I mean, they look at the both notes at the same time next to
[1:01:57] each other, and they put the FS next to each other and they're
[1:02:00] like, oh, the FS are the same. It's her.
[1:02:02] Yeah. It's not very extensive.
[1:02:05] They're not wrong. But that wasn't a very
[1:02:07] extensive, like, handwriting analysis.
[1:02:10] That was like me. And you could do that to find
[1:02:13] out if your mom wrote a note. Hell yeah.
[1:02:18] But the sheriff says that Doc Fowler is a friend.
[1:02:22] He delivered both of my kids or something.
[1:02:24] Whatever he. Said yeah, that's what he says.
[1:02:25] He says small town thing where everyone knows everyone.
[1:02:28] He says he'll be able to ask and find out who had that
[1:02:32] appointment. And so I guess that happens
[1:02:35] because we cut to two deputies. Good Lord. 2 deputies escorting
[1:02:40] a young woman into an interview room.
[1:02:43] Scully tells her to sit down. Tessa.
[1:02:46] So that's her name. Tessa and Scully tells her she
[1:02:49] knows it's Tessa who was pregnant, not Ruby.
[1:02:52] After some pushing, Scully is able to get Tessa to talk.
[1:02:55] She says that Greg promised her they'd go to LA in a few months.
[1:02:59] She says she was nowhere near the lake that night.
[1:03:02] Molder plays bad cop, saying she waited for them to meet, snuck
[1:03:06] up behind Greg and shot him in the head.
[1:03:08] He slams his hand on the desk and says bam, yeah.
[1:03:14] She says that Ruby wasn't even there that night, and Molder
[1:03:17] asked her how she'd know that unless she was there herself.
[1:03:21] Caught up in my lie. So in a hallway, Scully says
[1:03:26] Ruby is most likely dead. This causes friction with
[1:03:29] Molder. The Sheriff's Department is
[1:03:32] searching the park and lake. Molder says they're wasting
[1:03:35] their time. He thinks Ruby wasn't even
[1:03:37] there, even though Scully points out Tessa has lied to them
[1:03:41] already. What?
[1:03:43] Anyway, Yeah, Makes. Sense.
[1:03:46] Does she say something about a confession to a murder?
[1:03:49] Cuz I have that in parentheses. Confession to a murder?
[1:03:51] Did Ruby confess off camera? Or did it get implied that she
[1:03:56] did? I don't know how would Ruby
[1:03:59] confess to? Any my notes are a little weird
[1:04:01] here. She's she's the one who's
[1:04:03] missing right now. Did you mean Tessa?
[1:04:05] You must have meant Tessa because if anything would have
[1:04:08] happened off camera in that moment, it would have been about
[1:04:10] Tessa because she would have been the one right off camera.
[1:04:13] That mine says that the girl is all full of damn lies.
[1:04:17] Well, damn. Lies.
[1:04:20] But Mulder can't let the case go, of course, and he heads
[1:04:23] outside and tells Scully he has to go see Kevin Morris.
[1:04:26] Scully says he's running after his sister and that this won't
[1:04:29] bring her back, but she does go with him anyway.
[1:04:33] She always does. And she says that so much in
[1:04:35] this I kind of get annoyed at her.
[1:04:37] Yeah, shut the fuck up, Scully. Yeah.
[1:04:39] You know you're going to fucking do it.
[1:04:40] Shut up. Yeah, stop being mean.
[1:04:43] He lost his sister, right? But at the Morris residence, the
[1:04:47] agents see that the door is open when they knock, so they enter
[1:04:51] and notice ATV on turned to static.
[1:04:54] There are a ton of papers with ones and zeros laid out in front
[1:04:57] of it. There's also a whistling kettle
[1:04:59] that Scully takes off the burner, the show said.
[1:05:05] Molder studies the papers as Scully goes to check upstairs.
[1:05:08] From the top landing, she can see that the ones and zeros on
[1:05:12] the papers form a picture of Ruby.
[1:05:14] She shows Molder. OK, sure, that's Ruby.
[1:05:18] Whatever. It looks like a 40 year old
[1:05:20] woman. Oh, yeah, by the way, we we
[1:05:22] tried to look up how old Tessa is because she looks like she's
[1:05:25] 30 something, even though she's supposed to be a teenager.
[1:05:28] Yeah. And.
[1:05:29] I cannot find how old she is. The only thing I could find was
[1:05:32] her birthday is September 20th. No year.
[1:05:35] That's. Weird, but she is.
[1:05:36] Not. She's like, mysterious.
[1:05:39] Right. She's like our ages at least
[1:05:43] that's right. Hell yeah.
[1:05:45] But yeah, she's she looks like she is almost my age.
[1:05:52] But they're on the way somewhere.
[1:05:54] I'm not sure. I don't remember.
[1:05:55] Yeah, they're on the way to Lake Okoboji and Mulder is telling
[1:05:58] Scully about his closed eye room walking magical sister
[1:06:02] reappearance ritual. Yeah, which is it feels.
[1:06:06] It's supposed to be sweet and sentimental, but it's kind of
[1:06:09] weird. Like, Can you imagine?
[1:06:11] Like, I'm sorry, go. Ahead, it just, it feels like
[1:06:13] they're trying to push the sister narrative into it.
[1:06:18] Yeah. Like they didn't necessarily
[1:06:20] need to make so much of it about the system, but they're I guess
[1:06:24] they're trying to add in the lore of his sister because it
[1:06:28] becomes more prominent later. But like, it feels very like
[1:06:33] they're trying a little too hard to push the sister thing into
[1:06:35] it. And his father's sister would
[1:06:36] just magically appear. Yeah, like that's really it is
[1:06:40] like, it's a sad sentimental thing, but it feels a little,
[1:06:42] you know. Yeah, but he says that he feels
[1:06:45] like he's still walking into that room every day of his life,
[1:06:50] which, OK. Yeah.
[1:06:51] Like I Can you imagine, kid Mulder just like walking into a
[1:06:55] room with his eyes closed? But what he's saying is, is he
[1:06:59] every time he walks into a room, he wishes his sister would be
[1:07:02] there? I know, but as they arrive, they
[1:07:05] see Mrs. Morris's camper and there's no one inside, so Scully
[1:07:10] noses a trail into the woods and they follow that until they hear
[1:07:13] a woman yelling. OK, they hear her go.
[1:07:16] Oh. Yeah, and I'm like, that didn't
[1:07:19] sound like a help me type of holler.
[1:07:21] That sounded like something a little different to me.
[1:07:24] And I don't know if I would go out into the woods following
[1:07:26] that sound. No.
[1:07:27] What is that? Yeah, I.
[1:07:29] Don't. Know, but go ahead.
[1:07:31] They run along the trail until they see Missus Morris on the
[1:07:34] ground and she says they're here.
[1:07:36] Totally. It is a poltergeisty like thing.
[1:07:39] But she tried to follow Kevin but couldn't keep up with him
[1:07:42] which. Which keep going.
[1:07:45] Mulder runs off down the trail as Scully stays behind.
[1:07:48] Mulder sees Kevin in the distance, surrounded by fog he's
[1:07:51] walking towards. Slowly.
[1:07:53] Yeah, he's slowly walking towards an orangish light.
[1:07:56] Oh. My he is literally sauntering
[1:07:59] slowly with his hands in his pockets and his mother couldn't
[1:08:03] keep up with him. Yeah, he's got his hands in his
[1:08:06] pockets. I got a gimpy leg.
[1:08:10] I wouldn't be able to keep up with y'all if just y'all was
[1:08:13] just walking. Actually, me and you were
[1:08:16] probably even. When I was a kid, keep up with
[1:08:18] me though, I was running fast as hell around.
[1:08:22] Yeah, he was all over the place. But ball energy?
[1:08:26] It turned the the orangish light that Kevin was walking towards
[1:08:29] turns out to be a bunch of bikers coming over the hill with
[1:08:32] their headlights on and motor pulls Kevin out of harm's way
[1:08:35] just in time. Kevin tells Mulder that Ruby is
[1:08:39] back. He knows she is.
[1:08:40] Then Scully let's out a death metal rendition of Mulder.
[1:08:45] Yeah, yeah, it's she does that from the chest, man.
[1:08:50] Like, yeah, very much. But.
[1:08:54] You get to hear someone yell Mulder and someone yell Scully
[1:08:57] multiple, multiple times. Oh yeah, tons of times calling
[1:09:00] back and forth like Mulder. Scully, Mulder, Scully.
[1:09:06] And he adds an A when he says it whenever David Duchovny says he
[1:09:09] says Scalay. Margo Polo.
[1:09:12] He does. It's Scalay Margo.
[1:09:14] Holder, but they run back down the trail to find Scully
[1:09:19] administering CPR to Ruby. And so we cut to Ruby at a
[1:09:23] hospital and we learned she's been awake for about an hour.
[1:09:27] No head trauma or narcotics, I guess was in her bloodstream.
[1:09:32] But Molder points out that some of the medical data points to
[1:09:35] possible prolonged weightlessness, something
[1:09:38] astronauts deal with. Which is like.
[1:09:41] Yeah, he said some sciency words.
[1:09:42] I'm not going to. He said did you OK?
[1:09:45] Did you remember you have some little bit of like nurse medical
[1:09:48] background stuff? Did you understand those words
[1:09:51] he said there? I don't.
[1:09:52] They were so many letters. But.
[1:09:54] I can tell you right now that CPR was crap.
[1:09:57] Yeah. They didn't even do CPR.
[1:09:59] Good. Yeah, that was real bad.
[1:10:01] She's supposed to be a medical doctor, damn it.
[1:10:03] Yeah, but he says like the glubenotosaura blah blah, the
[1:10:07] gluco. The glucocorteroid steroids or
[1:10:09] something? Yeah, it's, it's some big words.
[1:10:12] Like it. I, I would love to see the
[1:10:15] outtakes of that scene, right? I would love to see him flub
[1:10:18] those words up 'cause he says that whole set, like all the way
[1:10:21] through. Oh my God.
[1:10:22] But it's some big, big words. But the agents step in to talk
[1:10:28] with Ruby and they asked her where she was.
[1:10:30] She says she isn't supposed to say.
[1:10:32] Miss Moore steps in to tell Ruby she doesn't have to tell them
[1:10:35] anything. I I think.
[1:10:37] And she says they told me not to tell.
[1:10:39] Yeah, they told me not to tell, but Kevin says it's OK, Ruby, he
[1:10:42] knows or something about Mulder. And Missus Morris says that she
[1:10:50] doesn't have to. Ruby doesn't have to tell them
[1:10:52] anything, and she takes the agents into the hall to speak
[1:10:55] with them. She thinks Ruby has been through
[1:10:57] enough and wants to forget all about this.
[1:11:00] Mulder says it's important that Ruby's allowed to tell her
[1:11:02] story. Missus Morris has been here
[1:11:05] before though, with her story, you know, and what it's done to
[1:11:08] her life. So she just walks away.
[1:11:11] Yeah, she doesn't want the same thing for her daughter.
[1:11:13] She if she if her daughter goes and tells people she was
[1:11:16] abducted by aliens or whatever, then people are going to look at
[1:11:19] her weird for her whole life. And I get, I get it.
[1:11:22] Yeah, it makes sense. Back at a FBI Wow.
[1:11:26] Back at FBIHQ, Scully listens to Mulder's hypno regression and
[1:11:30] looks over Samantha's case file. On the tape, Mulder is saying he
[1:11:34] can hear his sister calling out his name again and again, but he
[1:11:37] can't move. We cut to Mulder sitting in a
[1:11:40] church studying a picture of him and his sister as kids.
[1:11:44] On the tape, Mulder says a voice in his head said that his sister
[1:11:47] would be alright, that she'll be returned.
[1:11:50] Doctor Werber asked if if he believes the voice.
[1:11:53] Mulder replies that he wants to believe, and that's the end of
[1:11:57] the episode. Now, you skipped over the best
[1:11:59] part there, because that part is very sweet and sentimental, but
[1:12:03] we have to mention that this is the first time that you see, at
[1:12:07] least partially, Mulder's cry face.
[1:12:11] Oh yes. Did you see him in the church
[1:12:13] Pew when he started crying as the camera pulled away?
[1:12:16] Did you see how bad it was? David Duchovny, you'll find out
[1:12:19] in the series, Cannot Act Crying.
[1:12:22] No, he can't, he goes. Facial acting gets better as the
[1:12:24] series goes, but. Like it's so bad.
[1:12:28] And he's got such a wide mouth, too, Yeah.
[1:12:32] It's for eating all that food. But there's.
[1:12:35] All them pies over and over again as you ask people
[1:12:38] questions and diners. You'll figure that out.
[1:12:40] That's crazy. That's a whole lot of pie.
[1:12:44] That's a lot of episodes away from now.
[1:12:46] Yeah, it's like what, season 5-6 or something 3.
[1:12:49] Yeah, Jose Chung. Oh.
[1:12:52] That's what I'm going to start keeping around the house and
[1:12:55] everywhere I go. Question pie.
[1:12:57] So when I got some serious questions, I'm just going to
[1:13:00] pull out the pie starting. You know what, when that, when
[1:13:04] that comes back around in like a year's time when we're actually
[1:13:07] on that episode, I hope you remember.
[1:13:10] I have no clue. A year and a half at least, but
[1:13:15] yeah. So mom, if you were flipping
[1:13:18] channels and you just caught this episode, would it hook you
[1:13:22] into watching more? I think so, yes, especially
[1:13:25] because of the little boy in the scrambled TV.
[1:13:28] That aspect really you like that a lot.
[1:13:31] Yeah, that's, that's The X-Files.
[1:13:33] That's like, yeah, that that's like what The X-Files is.
[1:13:36] It's just stuff like that. It's just like.
[1:13:37] Spooky stuff. I agree I I really enjoy this
[1:13:41] episode. It's it's not really an episode
[1:13:45] where like a lot happens, but what does happen is pretty
[1:13:48] compelling. I mean like it's.
[1:13:50] Not like a stand out like Postmark, Prometheus or Jose
[1:13:52] Chung, but it is like it's like it's a very X-Files episode.
[1:13:58] Yeah, like there's some episodes like you'll learn that there's
[1:14:00] some episodes that are really out there and weird and you're
[1:14:02] like, what is this episode? Like it's so strange.
[1:14:05] It's not doesn't feel like the vibe or The X-Files.
[1:14:07] This is just gives you this. And there was one of the other
[1:14:09] ones we watched too, like the second episode, like very just
[1:14:14] X-Files. It feels like a typical good
[1:14:17] X-Files episode. That one is great though.
[1:14:20] I'm. Not sure which one I mean
[1:14:21] though, you know it's. Deep Throat.
[1:14:23] Yeah, Deep Throat, I know it's not as good, but it's still it's
[1:14:26] a very, it kind of introduce you to what The X-Files is.
[1:14:28] This is what it is. Yeah, it shows the a decent
[1:14:31] dynamic between Mulder and Scully.
[1:14:33] You know it. Gives you some sycopyrises.
[1:14:35] How she's always. Stuff.
[1:14:37] She's always kind of like, but what if it's not that?
[1:14:40] But. Yeah, there's always something
[1:14:42] she gots to say. Listen.
[1:14:43] That'll listen. Listen, listen.
[1:14:48] This is Scully, OK? I just.
[1:14:51] They're just, you see, she sees things or almost or almost sees
[1:14:56] things or hears things. There's no way she wouldn't
[1:14:59] believe stuff at a certain point.
[1:15:01] Scully drives nuts with that. So mels solved or not?
[1:15:07] Oh, not at all. No, not even a.
[1:15:10] Little no idea what the hell happened.
[1:15:11] Who abducted the kid back in the day in the The Old Time story?
[1:15:16] Who abducted Ruby? Where did she go?
[1:15:18] What happened? Who killed Greg?
[1:15:20] I don't think that. Right.
[1:15:22] Who killed? Why did Greg die?
[1:15:25] Did the aliens kill him? Because she was going to tell
[1:15:27] on. Them or something?
[1:15:28] No, no, no, that's what I'm saying.
[1:15:29] She says that Tessa, I wrote Ruby, but I was wrong, she says.
[1:15:33] We got a confession for the murder from Tessa.
[1:15:35] She confessed off camera. So that's why you had that in
[1:15:40] parentheses. So why did she kill him?
[1:15:43] Because. Because he was going to run off
[1:15:44] with Ruby instead of her. Yeah, but then that she didn't
[1:15:47] do anything. No to Ruby.
[1:15:49] No, I think Ruby. So then still unsolved.
[1:15:52] What happened to Ruby? What happened to the girl back
[1:15:54] in the day who go with missing? Why is the cop have something
[1:15:57] shoved up his ass all the time? Nothing is solved.
[1:16:01] His wife probably has something to do with that.
[1:16:03] But no, I don't think there was an abduction back in the day.
[1:16:06] It was just a sighting, I think. No, there was someone someone
[1:16:10] missing. I don't know, maybe.
[1:16:12] Someone went missing back in the day because it was their X-Files
[1:16:14] report. Yeah, but they didn't really
[1:16:15] solve much of anything. That's.
[1:16:17] Nothing they don't solve. I mean, they kind of affected
[1:16:20] the plot I guess, but. Not no, no.
[1:16:24] As far as I could tell, everything that happened would
[1:16:26] have happened the same way. If they wouldn't have been
[1:16:27] there, they wouldn't have found Greg.
[1:16:29] Yeah, that's about. It.
[1:16:30] That's about it and. You can attribute that to the
[1:16:33] coyotes or. Whatever.
[1:16:35] Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're not sometimes.
[1:16:39] See, sometimes they just do this awesome investigative FBI work
[1:16:43] and you're like, you guys are on your shit and sometimes it's
[1:16:46] like this and they're just kind of there and they observe
[1:16:49] everything that happens and then talk about it later.
[1:16:51] I haven't done this yet, but I think now that I've had the
[1:16:53] idea, I'm going to do it. I think I'm going to keep a
[1:16:55] tally of which ones they solve and which ones they.
[1:16:58] Don't. Yeah, yeah, of course.
[1:16:59] I thought you were doing. That, but I'm going to do it
[1:17:02] now. OK.
[1:17:03] But yeah, this is, I mean, you're, it's definitely going to
[1:17:05] be like a 7030 unsolved. Oh, for sure.
[1:17:07] Easy, easy. There's and then it's like.
[1:17:11] So in order to decide if an episode is considered solved or
[1:17:14] solved, you have to have some kind of like parameters for
[1:17:17] that, because apparently they did solve The Who killed Greg
[1:17:22] part of. Yeah, yeah.
[1:17:23] So partial. But but this is called The
[1:17:26] X-Files. Yeah.
[1:17:27] That was not an X file murder. That was just a murder.
[1:17:31] Yeah, we're talking the alien abduction part.
[1:17:34] Was that solved? The main X file part of the
[1:17:37] episode was solved. Or not.
[1:17:38] No, that wasn't solved at all. They did solve a murder though,
[1:17:41] so big UPS on that. Yeah, but that's I'm saying that
[1:17:44] that part doesn't count towards your tally.
[1:17:45] No it doesn't. It's.
[1:17:47] Only if the X file is solved. Next we have a segment where we
[1:17:53] talk about everyone's MVP for the episode and we do keep a
[1:17:57] running tally of this and at the end of each season we are going
[1:18:01] to decide we're gonna tally it up from all of our MVP picks and
[1:18:06] decide who gets a all expenses paid trip to the moon.
[1:18:10] With a friend. With a friend you can a + 1.
[1:18:13] Yeah, anyone who's listening is a friend.
[1:18:15] So there you go. Yeah, so there you go.
[1:18:17] They might pick you. Mom, do you have any MVP?
[1:18:21] Well, I'm torn. I'm torn between the TV and the
[1:18:25] kid. TV and the kid.
[1:18:29] They're a duo, they come together.
[1:18:31] OK, Yeah. Yeah, I think they come
[1:18:33] together, Kevin and the TV. Yeah, I am going to go with the
[1:18:37] wolves. Really.
[1:18:39] Yeah, yeah. Greg being found by the wolves
[1:18:41] stuff really pushed the case along and it changed everything
[1:18:45] that happened next. So I feel like they kind of
[1:18:48] helped. They've discovered the body and
[1:18:51] did more FBI work than Mulder and Scully did as well.
[1:18:56] I I have to agree with you, they they did really push the plot
[1:18:59] along. Really.
[1:19:00] It wasn't Mulder Skully that found him, it was just that wolf
[1:19:03] that they randomly followed into the woods.
[1:19:05] I mean, who's to say if Mulder had wouldn't have happened to
[1:19:07] see the pile of rocks at some point looking around, but it
[1:19:10] might have been a day or two so. Who's my MVP for this episode?
[1:19:19] This work you do for the episode, you don't think about
[1:19:20] this part. No, like I want to say it was it
[1:19:23] was Molder because this episode was kind of about his trauma and
[1:19:27] he cried at the end. Which was so well done.
[1:19:32] Yeah. Like I kind of want to say
[1:19:34] Molder. But you.
[1:19:37] Also want to. Say anything but.
[1:19:39] Molder, I kind of want to say young Mick Foley, too.
[1:19:42] Oh yeah, Mick Foley was good. You could.
[1:19:48] Give it to Molder. Just a sympathy vote.
[1:19:51] Yeah, I'll give it to Mold. I'll give Molder a sympathy.
[1:19:54] Vote for this episode. So real.
[1:19:57] Real emotional tears. So if you're wondering, if
[1:20:02] you're wondering who's in the lead so far, it's Seth Green.
[1:20:08] And Seth Green will still be in the lead until we get at least
[1:20:10] one or two more votes for Molder or Scully.
[1:20:12] Molder is in second place. Tide with Frank from the Tombs
[1:20:20] episode, the squeeze episode, he's the old detective.
[1:20:23] He's got 2 votes and Molder's got 2 votes at the moment, but
[1:20:26] Frank Green's got Frank Green. Frank Green They're just messing
[1:20:30] up names left and right here. That's Green has three.
[1:20:34] And Frank is the. The spray paint can has one from
[1:20:37] the pilot episode that's great. Wow all.
[1:20:42] Right. What's next?
[1:20:44] You get our MVPS, yes, the next segment is damage report, which
[1:20:51] is a segment where we talk about the damage bodily or mental in
[1:20:57] some cases where. To our FBI.
[1:20:59] Agents to the FBI. Agents.
[1:21:00] Not to everyone else. No, not to everyone else.
[1:21:02] That would take too. Long otherwise we would have
[1:21:04] years of therapy for Kevin and his broken action figures and
[1:21:07] Matchbox cars. Yes, don't forget it's Piggy
[1:21:11] Bank good. God, yeah, it's poor Piggy Bank,
[1:21:13] those assholes. You think they took some pennies
[1:21:15] to be assholes? Said quarters.
[1:21:17] Shove them in their pockets like fucking assholes anyway.
[1:21:20] I hate those guys. I.
[1:21:22] Hate them all, my homies hate those NSA agents.
[1:21:25] But we we tally up the agents damage in damage report and
[1:21:33] figure out the medical bills that they'd have to pay.
[1:21:35] And we're going to talk about that at the end of the season.
[1:21:38] I just looked at your notes. Yeah, I know.
[1:21:40] I don't know. I don't think anything happens.
[1:21:44] I mean, I guess we already have. Molder goes to therapy after
[1:21:47] Deep Throat. So, you know, he probably is
[1:21:51] still going to therapy. I'm sure he's got to tell his
[1:21:52] therapist about that. So that just was roped into
[1:21:55] that. Really.
[1:21:55] There's nothing else outside of that.
[1:21:57] And all I could think of was Molder and his trauma.
[1:22:01] I guess if Molder hit Scully hard when he handed her that
[1:22:04] paper and was enthralled by the wolves.
[1:22:07] Yes, OK. I'm.
[1:22:08] Just kidding, that's not. Need to add in how to word this.
[1:22:11] He the hypnotherapy, Yeah, he needs like hypnotic therapy.
[1:22:16] That's in the past, though. Yes, but he needs more of it,
[1:22:20] obviously. Yeah, he needs something.
[1:22:23] He needs some kind of. Thing So I guess you could just
[1:22:25] add therapy after Deep Throat and sister.
[1:22:29] OK, I'm not. That's a cursed set of words.
[1:22:33] Yes, it. Is but it's it's.
[1:22:35] I'm not wrong. Yeah, you're not wrong, but I'm
[1:22:38] going to leave it how it is right now.
[1:22:40] I guess I'll add the sister thing in as well, but.
[1:22:43] Yeah, because that's the only thing that really that's he's
[1:22:46] emotionally damaged from his sister.
[1:22:48] Yeah, so now we have a segment where we tell my mom the name of
[1:22:54] the episode that's coming up next, and we let her guess what
[1:22:58] the episode is and whether she's right or wrong, I tell her
[1:23:01] exactly the truth of what the next episode is going to be.
[1:23:06] You can't hear me, but I'm winking.
[1:23:08] That's funny. I was gonna.
[1:23:09] Say wink wink right before. You say so.
[1:23:11] Would you like to know the name of the next episode?
[1:23:14] Mom? Yes.
[1:23:14] Always. The Jersey Devil.
[1:23:17] The Jersey Devil, Yes. Well, I'm guessing it takes
[1:23:20] place in New Jersey. That's a good guess.
[1:23:23] Yeah, it's fair. Anything.
[1:23:24] Else and I've lived in New Jersey, so Cherry Hill Mall.
[1:23:31] That's the place in New Jersey, I'm assuming.
[1:23:34] The traffic or close to Cherry Hill Mall right there.
[1:23:37] That's the devil. That's the devil in Jersey.
[1:23:40] Well, that's a good guess, but you're you're pretty wrong on
[1:23:43] this. Actually.
[1:23:44] What happens in the Jersey Devil is the biblical Satan moves out
[1:23:48] of hell and into New Jersey to fuck with some Quakers, only to
[1:23:52] realize he's 250 years too late. Oh my Lord.
[1:23:56] Because apparently I was looking up what can I talk about with
[1:24:00] New Jersey, and I was like, OK, the Quakers were a real big
[1:24:02] thing there. Apparently 2. 150 years ago. 250
[1:24:06] years ago. Well, I'm glad you're saying
[1:24:08] with the times. Yeah, I.
[1:24:10] Didn't see them. Got to keep in in this.
[1:24:13] They weren't there. In this quarter century, right?
[1:24:17] Yeah. Wait a century. 100 years, yes.
[1:24:19] What's 1000 years? A.
[1:24:20] Millennia. This quarter of a millennia.
[1:24:23] Yes, I'm always topical. Nothing older than 1/4 of a
[1:24:27] millennia. Yeah, nothing.
[1:24:28] Nothing older than 250 years ago.
[1:24:31] Nothing. Nothing newer than five years in
[1:24:33] the future. And as always, at the end of
[1:24:36] these, we like to say just one thing at least that made us
[1:24:40] happy this week. Mom, what's one thing that made
[1:24:42] you happy this week? I went and had a girls day with
[1:24:48] my two of my granddaughters and well Ray my husband was there.
[1:24:53] Yeah, he's side noses. Yeah, but I had a blast.
[1:24:57] We went to a jumping place. You didn't.
[1:25:01] Do any jumping. I didn't do no jumping.
[1:25:04] You were doing backflips. Then we went to Chick-fil-A and
[1:25:08] then we went to Tarjay. And then they pick out something
[1:25:11] expensive or not expensive. They always pick not expensive
[1:25:15] luckily. Thank goodness.
[1:25:16] Thank goodness you take them to the really cheap kit toy aisle.
[1:25:19] No, I just take them in there. Sometimes they'll try to get
[1:25:22] something expensive. But oh, you don't want I.
[1:25:26] Always say stuff like that's a birthday or a Christmas.
[1:25:30] Yeah, yeah. That's like a buy.
[1:25:32] Later, just a random Saturday toy, OK.
[1:25:35] Yeah, that's why you should have gone Dollar General.
[1:25:37] Well, what about you? That's one thing that made you
[1:25:39] have it this week. Oh, I had a few really good
[1:25:43] moments this week. I know you did.
[1:25:48] Yeah, you don't. Have to be too specific if you
[1:25:50] want to bring that up. Well.
[1:25:53] Mills made me cry. I did jump in place.
[1:25:56] I did make her cry. I got, I just, I got some good
[1:25:59] news about my daughter and I I told her about it and it was, it
[1:26:02] was one of them happy tear moments.
[1:26:05] But we also went to the drive insurance.
[1:26:07] It's year round. Yeah, there wasn't even in the
[1:26:10] winter these last several months.
[1:26:13] We could have just been going to the drive ins all the time and
[1:26:15] we haven't been. Yeah.
[1:26:17] I'm like to take their. Dollars.
[1:26:18] It's $15 a car. It's cheap.
[1:26:21] Yeah, I mean it's. 2 movies sucked, but the problem sucked.
[1:26:25] So if it's we did the math, if it's $15 a car and there's two
[1:26:28] of us and we get to see 2 movies, that's 350 a ticket.
[1:26:31] I just want to say that Dash is a popcorn connoisseur.
[1:26:36] Oh yes, and has been most of his life.
[1:26:38] Popcorn and pretzels, if you if you had to make me choose, it's
[1:26:41] pretzels. But I do love popcorn.
[1:26:43] It's like in my top five, but pretzels #1 always.
[1:26:46] And then Reese's is up there. Anything chocolate?
[1:26:48] Peanut butter. Anything chocolate Peanut
[1:26:50] butter. Yeah, yeah.
[1:26:52] One thing that made me happy this week is I got to go yard
[1:26:55] sewing with you two guys. Ohh yeah we went yard sealing
[1:26:58] too. We used to do that all the time
[1:27:02] when Dash was a kid and and I was, I had, I even went to so
[1:27:07] far to call my mom and say, hey mom, did you ever used to take
[1:27:10] me yard sale when I was a kid? And she said yeah, because I was
[1:27:14] wondering where I got it from, you know?
[1:27:16] And honestly I did all this shopping on like Amazon and
[1:27:19] Walmart and going to furniture stores looking for stuff and I
[1:27:22] found a few things I ended up buying and everything, but I
[1:27:24] found better stuff just trying to tell them.
[1:27:26] Yeah, and something else that I'm excited about, I didn't tell
[1:27:29] you about yet, but in two weekends from now, I'm going
[1:27:33] over to Grandma and Papa's and we're watching The Living
[1:27:35] Daylights, the Timothy Dalton James Bond movie.
[1:27:39] OK, yeah. And you were on.
[1:27:41] You were on the miniben yesterday too.
[1:27:42] I was on a miniben. We recorded for 3 1/2 hours.
[1:27:46] It was great. We talked about.
[1:27:48] You almost. That almost sounded like a Mark
[1:27:49] Wahlberg. It was great.
[1:27:51] We talked about all kinds of things like how we talked about.
[1:27:55] You wanted spoilers? Yeah, it's behind the paywall.
[1:28:00] If you want to find out what we talked about, which one of the
[1:28:03] things we had talked about was diamond studded cock rings, you
[1:28:07] can listen to that on the Patreon of the grind bin one
[1:28:10] day. But anyway, unless there's
[1:28:12] anything else you guys want to talk about, I'm ready to get out
[1:28:15] of here I guess. That's all I can think of.
[1:28:17] I think we're good. I think we had a great episode.
[1:28:21] If you're here and you're still listening, then you are a friend
[1:28:26] and it was nice having you here. Yeah, it's nice having you here.
[1:28:29] Great. And we hope to see you next time
[1:28:31] on the Gen. X-Files podcast.
[1:28:34] Don't, don't, don't. I don't know, that's just for
[1:28:36] this episode. Did we just do that In Sync?
[1:28:39] Yeah, nice. Have a good day, bye.
