[0:19] Speaker 1: a man in a town, and he was wondrous. Wise
[0:23] Speaker 1: he jumped into a bramble push and scratched up both
[0:27] Speaker 1: his eyes, And when he found his eyes were out,
[0:31] Speaker 1: he cried with grief and pain, and jumped into another
[0:36] Speaker 1: push and scratched them in again. What's the man I'm
[0:40] Speaker 1: looking for, cried little Puss Junior. I wonder where he lives.
[0:46] Speaker 1: Maybe he can tell me where to find my father.
[0:50] Speaker 1: You hold your horse, what I asked the baker's wife,
[0:54] Speaker 1: said the farmer's pretty daughter. Pretty soon she came back
[0:57] Speaker 1: and said, he lives in a little house just outside
[1:01] Speaker 1: the town. It's not far from our place. So she
[1:06] Speaker 1: and Puss rode away, and she was mighty careful. Let
[1:10] Speaker 1: me tell you not to drop the package containing the
[1:14] Speaker 1: silk gown which Puss had given her. Well by and
[1:18] Speaker 1: by they came to the wise man's little house, surrounded
[1:23] Speaker 1: by a hedge of bramble bushes, but the wise man
[1:26] Speaker 1: himself was nowhere to be seen. Let's go round to
[1:30] Speaker 1: the barn, said the farmer's pretty daughter. It's milking time,
[1:34] Speaker 1: you know, And sure enough there they found him. Are
[1:38] Speaker 1: you the man who jumped into the bramble bush, asked Puss. Yes,
[1:43] Speaker 1: I am. But let me tell you something. They call
[1:47] Speaker 1: me a wise man, but I think a man who
[1:50] Speaker 1: jumps into a bramble bush is a silly goose. Then
[1:54] Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the bramble bush man exclaimed, goodness me,
[2:00] Speaker 1: I want no A cat who wore red top boots.
[2:03] Speaker 1: A good many years ago, they lived near here, a
[2:06] Speaker 1: miller who had three sons. When he died, he left
[2:10] Speaker 1: all his property to the two eldest, but to the
[2:13] Speaker 1: youngest only a cat. Well, this cat turned out to
[2:18] Speaker 1: be a most wonderful cat. Indeed, I heard that he
[2:23] Speaker 1: secured a magnificent castle for his young master, as well
[2:27] Speaker 1: as the hand of a lovely princess. Where does he live,
[2:32] Speaker 1: cried Puss in great excitement. That I cannot tell, replied
[2:37] Speaker 1: the bramble bush man, For I never heard where he
[2:40] Speaker 1: went after leaving here. Oh dear me, sighed little Puss junior.
[2:45] Speaker 1: Nobody knows where my father lives. Then he and the
[2:49] Speaker 1: farmer's pretty daughter rode away, And in the next story
[2:54] Speaker 1: you shall hear what happened at the old farmhouse. End
[2:58] Speaker 1: of chapter twenty seven. Recording by J. B.
