[0:00] Speaker 1: It's time for Fiber McGee and Molley. Sundays through Thursdays,
[0:12] Speaker 1: MBC brings you Fiber McGhee and Molly Transcribe. The show
[0:16] Speaker 1: has written by Bill Leslie and Ralph Goodman and directed
[0:18] Speaker 1: by Max Huffa. Listen to the McGee talking about another
[0:29] Speaker 1: of your wistful Vista friends.
[0:33] Speaker 2: Oh there goes Doc Gamble again. Have to get his
[0:36] Speaker 2: foot in the door before the stork arrives.
[0:38] Speaker 3: Seems to me that old bird's been keeping him pretty
[0:41] Speaker 3: busy lately.
[0:41] Speaker 2: It sure has Molly, and he's not the only one
[0:43] Speaker 2: that bird's been keeping busy.
[0:45] Speaker 3: You mean Doctor Gamble's got competition.
[0:47] Speaker 2: No, it's just that new babies keep prudential agents busy too.
[0:50] Speaker 4: People, don't you.
[0:51] Speaker 3: Say prudential agents?
[0:52] Speaker 2: Sure, agents of the Prudential Insurance Company of America.
[0:55] Speaker 4: You said it. People don't realize it.
[0:58] Speaker 2: But such things as a new baby, a new or
[1:00] Speaker 2: a bigger house, or a better job all tend to
[1:03] Speaker 2: affect the protection your life insurance was designed to give.
[1:06] Speaker 2: That's why it's a swell idea to have your potential
[1:08] Speaker 2: man check over your life insurance set up with you
[1:10] Speaker 2: ever so often, just to make sure it's up to
[1:13] Speaker 2: date with any changes in your home.
[1:14] Speaker 3: Well, what if it isn't, dearie.
[1:16] Speaker 2: In that case, your prudential agent will be glad to
[1:18] Speaker 2: show you how you can adjust your family protection program
[1:21] Speaker 2: so that it does the job you wanted to do.
[1:23] Speaker 2: Make a date with your potential agent tomorrow. I know
[1:26] Speaker 2: it's one date you'll never regret keeping.
[1:38] Speaker 1: In the Chamber of Commerce contest for the best slogan
[1:41] Speaker 1: on traffic safety, mister McGee of seventy nine West Clovista
[1:45] Speaker 1: was judged the winner, and he's to go downtown today
[1:48] Speaker 1: and pick up his twenty five dollars prize. It was
[1:50] Speaker 1: rather interesting how I happened to win, and missus McGee
[1:53] Speaker 1: is telling a friend about it on the phone right now.
[1:56] Speaker 3: Yes, naval McGee won the contest, all right, But the
[1:58] Speaker 3: whole thing was a mistake. Yeah, don't let McGee know.
[2:02] Speaker 3: I told you. But the winning slogan, you know, don't
[2:05] Speaker 3: forget politeness pays every time. That wasn't his slogan. No,
[2:09] Speaker 3: it wasn't mine, It wasn't anybody's.
[2:13] Speaker 5: No.
[2:13] Speaker 3: You see, I had scribbled a note to myself to
[2:15] Speaker 3: pay all the back light bills. They were a mess,
[2:18] Speaker 3: and by mistake. I turned that note in instead of
[2:21] Speaker 3: McGee's slogan. Yes, it said, don't forget the light mess
[2:26] Speaker 3: pay every dime ah they ever got. Don't forget politeness
[2:30] Speaker 3: pays every time. I don't know. McGee's embarrassed to death
[2:33] Speaker 3: about it, maybel but all we can do is lin on.
[2:36] Speaker 4: So what I done, old timer?
[2:38] Speaker 2: I sat down and worked my slogan out scientific See scientific? Huh,
[2:42] Speaker 2: I says to myself. Traffic is a mess. People are
[2:45] Speaker 2: getting hurt. Everybody drives bad. So what can we do
[2:48] Speaker 2: to cure the situation? In one swell hoop?
[2:51] Speaker 6: And the answer come ringing out loud and clear. Shoot
[2:53] Speaker 6: the drivers and burn all the automobiles. Huh that for me, Johnny,
[2:57] Speaker 6: Let's start.
[2:58] Speaker 4: All over, just you and me in that way. Oh no, no, no,
[3:00] Speaker 4: that ain't what.
[3:01] Speaker 6: I Let's shoot you to and just start with me
[3:03] Speaker 6: because I need a lot of room when I drive.
[3:05] Speaker 2: And if oh no, no, pipe down, won't you? My gosh,
[3:10] Speaker 2: that ain't what I mean at all. The answer to
[3:12] Speaker 2: this traffic problem is very simple, and you're gonna see
[3:15] Speaker 2: it on every windshield sticker in town.
[3:18] Speaker 4: Politeness, politeness.
[3:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, my slogan is don't forget politeness pays every time.
[3:25] Speaker 6: Say that's an amazing idea, Johnny, Thank you politeness when
[3:29] Speaker 6: you're driving. Huh hmm, bye jeepers. That's one I never
[3:33] Speaker 6: tried before.
[3:34] Speaker 4: Might work too, you bet you it'll work.
[3:36] Speaker 6: Yes, sir, that's a brand new idea, Johnny. I'll try
[3:39] Speaker 6: to remember that one. Oh, hi, daughter, I was just
[3:43] Speaker 6: talking to Johnny here about his traffic slogan.
[3:45] Speaker 3: Isn't that a good one though? Don't forget politeness pays
[3:48] Speaker 3: every time every time.
[3:50] Speaker 2: Bet you and I'm gonna drive by that slogan all
[3:52] Speaker 2: the time from now on. Boy, just call me mister politeness.
[3:56] Speaker 6: I'm glad you said that, mister politeness, because I brought
[4:00] Speaker 6: on your grocery bill seventeen eighty. So if you and
[4:03] Speaker 6: miss Politeness would like to pay up, mister politeness, Oh
[4:06] Speaker 6: take the money.
[4:07] Speaker 2: Well, we're we're a little short right now, old timer,
[4:08] Speaker 2: and catch us later. We're going downtown right away to
[4:10] Speaker 2: pick up my twenty five dollar price check.
[4:12] Speaker 4: So if you'll drop around.
[4:13] Speaker 6: Ay, I knew it. It's just like all them slogans
[4:17] Speaker 6: and never work. Huh, call me mister plyiteness. She says,
[4:20] Speaker 6: politeness pays every time, he says, I've been here three
[4:22] Speaker 6: times this week, ain't but paid again.
[4:23] Speaker 3: He says, Oh, I know this would work. Oh dear,
[4:26] Speaker 3: I hope he isn't angry because I have enough money
[4:28] Speaker 3: upstairs to pay the bill.
[4:30] Speaker 2: There's no use rushing it, kiddo, he'll be back later.
[4:33] Speaker 2: Let's get going downtown. Chamber of Commerce has got a
[4:36] Speaker 2: check for me, and I ain't the type of guy
[4:37] Speaker 2: that likes to keep people if they want to give
[4:38] Speaker 2: me money waiting all for them.
[4:41] Speaker 3: You get the door. I'll go back the car out
[4:43] Speaker 3: and tell whoever it is.
[4:44] Speaker 2: We're just leaving, will you right, I won't, Billy Delly,
[4:46] Speaker 2: You better back the car out and blow the horn
[4:48] Speaker 2: for me in case I get stuck with whoever this is,
[4:50] Speaker 2: and rereadings Sonny, Oh hi, docky, I'd ask you in,
[4:54] Speaker 2: but we're just leaving to go downtown and pick up
[4:56] Speaker 2: the twenty five bucks prize. Money for that slogan I wrote,
[4:58] Speaker 2: you wrote, don't care me, mush head. You seem to
[5:02] Speaker 2: have forgotten I was here yesterday when the lights went
[5:04] Speaker 2: out and Molly explained how she had.
[5:05] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh I forgot. I forgot. You know all
[5:08] Speaker 4: about it?
[5:09] Speaker 7: Sure, I won't spread it all around the Elks Club, though,
[5:13] Speaker 7: I'll keep mom.
[5:14] Speaker 4: Gee, thanks Doc, them guys, because I.
[5:16] Speaker 7: Think it's a pretty good slogan and I don't want
[5:18] Speaker 7: to knock it. Actually, though, I think the one less
[5:20] Speaker 7: Nelson turned in should have won the prize. You heard it,
[5:23] Speaker 7: keep traffic moving at any cost. He who hesitates his loss.
[5:27] Speaker 7: Oh no, that's the road hogs and drivers who want
[5:29] Speaker 7: to be in the right lane instead of tying up traffic.
[5:32] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[5:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll rop around later and I'll talk to you
[5:34] Speaker 2: about anything you want, since you kind of got something
[5:36] Speaker 2: on me and I have to be polite to you
[5:37] Speaker 2: for a few days, right now, that's right.
[5:40] Speaker 4: Huh.
[5:43] Speaker 7: This secret I'm keeping for you has possibilities.
[5:47] Speaker 4: Well, that's Molly, Doc, I got it.
[5:48] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[5:50] Speaker 4: I ought to get my snow shoveled all winter.
[5:52] Speaker 7: Oh now do or that nice big waiting room of
[5:55] Speaker 7: mine could use a coat of paint. Or maybe I
[5:58] Speaker 7: ought to have the ashes cleaned out of my basement.
[6:01] Speaker 4: Okay, Molly, I'm coming.
[6:02] Speaker 7: Yeah, you run along, little pigeon. I don't like to
[6:05] Speaker 7: make snap decisions. This should have careful thought.
[6:08] Speaker 4: Huh.
[6:09] Speaker 7: After all, if I'm gonna lose sleep because I've got
[6:11] Speaker 7: a secret I can't tell anybody.
[6:12] Speaker 3: I think it's only.
[6:24] Speaker 8: There's more fun with the McGee. Shortly, have you discovered
[6:28] Speaker 8: Dial shampoo. It's the new shampoo that does something exciting
[6:32] Speaker 8: to your hair. Listen, sparkle, sparkle.
[6:35] Speaker 5: Your hairtoo, sparkles after Dial shampoo. Dial shampoo gets your
[6:41] Speaker 5: hair clean. Dial shampoo gets your hair seen diamond sparkle.
[6:46] Speaker 5: That's for you when you use Dial shampoo.
[6:52] Speaker 8: Yes, your hair will have that diamond sparkle look the
[6:55] Speaker 8: very first time you use Dial shampoo. This new shampoo
[6:59] Speaker 8: is actually made to give your hair a priceless sheen,
[7:02] Speaker 8: an extra brightness. With Dial shampoo, you get loads of
[7:06] Speaker 8: lamilated lather. It's a creamy, rich lather, gentle but thorough,
[7:10] Speaker 8: and it leaves your hair soft and easy to manage
[7:14] Speaker 8: by Dial shampoo in the unbreakable squeeze bottle.
[7:17] Speaker 3: Diamond sparkle.
[7:18] Speaker 5: That's all you when you use Dial shampoo.
[7:23] Speaker 9: Dial Shelloo.
[7:38] Speaker 4: Then he threatened, that's what he said.
[7:40] Speaker 2: As long as he has to be up nights with
[7:42] Speaker 2: a secret that he can't tell anyone, he thinks it's
[7:44] Speaker 2: only fair that I paint his office.
[7:47] Speaker 3: Doctor Gamble was just teasing dearie.
[7:49] Speaker 2: Big fat blackmailer, that overweight Willie Sutton.
[7:53] Speaker 4: Way'll I get.
[7:55] Speaker 3: Get out of the way, you moron an omagee. You're
[7:58] Speaker 3: getting all upset and forgetting your own slogan politeness pace.
[8:02] Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I'm sorry, sir.
[8:03] Speaker 3: He ran up on the sidewalk back there.
[8:05] Speaker 2: Well, that jealous old liverlifters got me all upset. Jealous, yeah,
[8:09] Speaker 2: because he was too dumbed in at the contest, and
[8:11] Speaker 2: I was smart enough to win it with that clever
[8:12] Speaker 2: slogan or that lucky note you put in the end,
[8:15] Speaker 2: pan bote by a mistake.
[8:16] Speaker 3: I mean, I'll never get over that. It was the
[8:18] Speaker 3: silliest thing.
[8:18] Speaker 4: You know.
[8:19] Speaker 2: What he had the crust to tell me was the
[8:20] Speaker 2: slogan that auto won, the slogan that less Nelson made
[8:23] Speaker 2: up keep traffic moving at any cost, he who hesitates
[8:26] Speaker 2: his loss?
[8:27] Speaker 3: Ah? Was that Lesters?
[8:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, but I don't think he made that up alone.
[8:31] Speaker 2: I think Mortimer Snurd must have helped him think.
[8:33] Speaker 4: That one up.
[8:34] Speaker 3: Oh nice screen.
[8:35] Speaker 2: You imagine anything as corny as at my gosh, if
[8:38] Speaker 2: I couldn't think up a better one than that.
[8:40] Speaker 4: Oh hey, look there, Kiddle, they're out already.
[8:42] Speaker 3: Who's out.
[8:43] Speaker 2: The stickers are out, look with our slogan on it.
[8:46] Speaker 2: You see that car up ahead on the winch.
[8:47] Speaker 3: Het Oh sure, Oh there's another one. Don't forget politeness
[8:51] Speaker 3: pays every time.
[8:52] Speaker 4: Yeah on two cars already, But I just ah.
[8:54] Speaker 3: And look at that. They both came to the intersection
[8:57] Speaker 3: and each one is waving the other one on. Isn't
[9:01] Speaker 3: that nice?
[9:03] Speaker 4: Ah?
[9:03] Speaker 2: Hi fellows, that's the way po likeness pays. Can you
[9:07] Speaker 2: see him through the back window moment?
[9:08] Speaker 3: No, the traffic's too heavy. Oh goodness, dearie, I'm proud
[9:12] Speaker 3: of us. If that slogan works at a busy intersection
[9:15] Speaker 3: like fourteenth and Oak, it'll work anywhere.
[9:17] Speaker 4: Yes, sir, we really hit it this time. I'd better
[9:19] Speaker 4: step on it. I guess.
[9:20] Speaker 2: Don't want to keep the Chamber of Commerce waiting with
[9:22] Speaker 2: that happy twenty five bucks.
[9:35] Speaker 3: There's the office right down the hall.
[9:36] Speaker 4: Yep, prize money here we come.
[9:41] Speaker 10: Well, good afternoon, folks, The Chamber of Commerce welcomes you
[9:45] Speaker 10: to the fair city of Wistful Bista. Here are some
[9:47] Speaker 10: booklets on our wonderful city, a few street maps, and
[9:50] Speaker 10: a list of eight hundred and thirty exciting places to
[9:53] Speaker 10: go and things to do, thank you, sir.
[9:56] Speaker 3: But we live here.
[9:57] Speaker 4: Oh, sure is dull around here.
[10:00] Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know. I find every day exciting.
[10:03] Speaker 2: And especially today, Bud, because we're here on pleasant business.
[10:06] Speaker 2: Where's horse Face Holstein, the president of this chamber of horrors.
[10:09] Speaker 10: Oh, mister Holsting's in a meeting, sir, upstairs, the traffic
[10:12] Speaker 10: Safety Committee. They've been very busy.
[10:14] Speaker 4: I know all about it.
[10:15] Speaker 2: And if you'd have been coming in on time in
[10:17] Speaker 2: the mornings, you know that I was a guy that
[10:18] Speaker 2: just won that slogan contest you ran. That's why I'm
[10:21] Speaker 2: here to collect.
[10:21] Speaker 3: The prize money.
[10:22] Speaker 10: Oh, then you must be mister McGee. Oh this is
[10:25] Speaker 10: a pleasure, sir. I had the envelope of your prize
[10:28] Speaker 10: money in it right here.
[10:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, let's have it if you want to take some
[10:31] Speaker 2: pictures for the papers hobby.
[10:32] Speaker 10: That was a wonderful slogan you thought of, mister McGee.
[10:35] Speaker 10: Don't forget politeness pays every time.
[10:37] Speaker 4: Well, I gave it a lot of thought, and I figured, oh.
[10:40] Speaker 10: Will you excuse me, mom? Yeah, hello, Oh, yes, mister Holstein.
[10:45] Speaker 10: Mister McGee is here right now.
[10:47] Speaker 2: I don't want to talk to him. Just give us
[10:48] Speaker 2: the money. Oh there is they were.
[10:54] Speaker 11: You did?
[10:56] Speaker 10: Okay, I'll tell him goodbye?
[10:59] Speaker 4: What was that all about? What is?
[11:01] Speaker 3: And who?
[11:01] Speaker 4: Or what?
[11:02] Speaker 3: Yes? What did mister Holstein did?
[11:04] Speaker 9: Well?
[11:05] Speaker 10: Word just came in that there's a heck of a
[11:07] Speaker 10: traffic jam at fourteenth and Oak. Two guys with politeness
[11:10] Speaker 10: pays stickers are blocking the intersection, each insisting the other
[11:13] Speaker 10: one go first. No, yes, that's what the meeting was
[11:17] Speaker 10: called for. And the committee has just made a new decision,
[11:20] Speaker 10: a new decision, Yes, to throw out your slogan, mister McGee.
[11:23] Speaker 10: What They just picked another one instead, one that should
[11:27] Speaker 10: straighten things out at which I think is a perfect choice.
[11:29] Speaker 10: It goes keep traffic moving at any cost. He who
[11:33] Speaker 10: hesitates is lost.
[11:34] Speaker 4: Why have all the dirty double dylan contests?
[11:37] Speaker 3: This is who?
[11:38] Speaker 10: Don't know who submitted that one?
[11:39] Speaker 3: Do you?
[11:39] Speaker 10: Or I'll have to ask mister Holstein for the winner's
[11:41] Speaker 10: name to mail this money.
[11:43] Speaker 3: Let's go home.
[11:54] Speaker 1: We'll say good night to Fiber and Bally.
[11:56] Speaker 4: In the moment.
[11:57] Speaker 11: Hi, folks, this is Vonn Monroe for RC. Did you
[12:01] Speaker 11: know that the United States has more television sets than
[12:04] Speaker 11: all the other countries in the world combined sets of
[12:06] Speaker 11: all sizes, all shapes, all makes, And did you know
[12:10] Speaker 11: that RCA makes a picture tube for virtually every one
[12:12] Speaker 11: of them. Yes, for just about every brand and every model,
[12:16] Speaker 11: including yours. That's right, fun, and one of these days
[12:19] Speaker 11: the picture tube in your set will fade. When it does,
[12:22] Speaker 11: ask your local TV serviceman for a new RCA picture tube.
[12:26] Speaker 11: RCA picture tubes are sharper and brighter. They give you
[12:29] Speaker 11: clearer pictures. RCA picture tubes are economical. They last longer
[12:34] Speaker 11: because RCA controls quality scientifically during each manufacturing step. So
[12:40] Speaker 11: when your television set needs a new picture tube or
[12:42] Speaker 11: receiving tube, tell your serviceman you want the best tube
[12:45] Speaker 11: for your money. Ask for RCA. It's precision made, yet
[12:49] Speaker 11: it costs no more. And remember there are more RCA
[12:53] Speaker 11: picture tubes now in use than any other.
[12:55] Speaker 3: Make too bad about that contest? Backfiring like that, McGee,
[13:06] Speaker 3: You should have had it, sweeteied, Oh, I don't mind.
[13:10] Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, I couldn't be happier. What
[13:11] Speaker 2: do you mean, Well, do you know what Doc Gambele
[13:13] Speaker 2: decided I'd have to do for him to keep it secret?
[13:16] Speaker 2: How I happened to win that contest? Said I'd have
[13:18] Speaker 2: to come to his office every night for a week
[13:19] Speaker 2: and swear, swear that I haven't told a lie all day,
[13:23] Speaker 2: not even a white lie.
[13:25] Speaker 4: Oh boy, what a spot. I'd have been in a fight.
[13:27] Speaker 4: I had to do a thing, Oh wouldn't we all? Oh,
[13:31] Speaker 4: good night, good.
[13:32] Speaker 3: Night All.
