I Evicted My Sister-In-Law After She Left Biohazards In My Home. Now My Husband...

## Transcript

[0:00] I evicted my sister-in-law after she left biohazards in my home
[0:03] leading to family conflicts. Now my husband is stuck outside
[0:06] with her. My spouse has a sister and two
[0:09] brothers. I'm not really fond of his
[0:11] sister and her spouse. After losing their house, they
[0:14] have recently been couch surfing.
[0:16] This may have been prevented had they behaved sensibly.
[0:19] They initially remained with my in laws, but they were asked to
[0:22] leave because of their unruly kids, citing my father in law's
[0:25] diabetes. After their elder children moved
[0:28] out, they then moved in with my husband's older brother and his
[0:30] wife, who had two extra rooms. However, they were forced to
[0:34] leave after three weeks due to planned renovations.
[0:37] They helped out around the house and generally kept things clean,
[0:40] so the older brother and his wife were pleased with them.
[0:42] The younger brother then moved in with them.
[0:45] The sister-in-law SIL assisted and managed her kids while they
[0:48] were there since her mother was coming to help with the baby.
[0:51] The youngest brother's wife, who was quite proud of her home and
[0:54] had just given birth, let them remain for a while.
[0:57] Finally, my husband agreed to take them in after being
[1:00] emotionally coerced. I only agreed if they kept the
[1:03] house tidy, especially because they had previously been on tidy
[1:06] in my house. For instance, they would throw
[1:09] trash next to the trash can but not inside, frequently leaving
[1:12] behind dried and odorous food remnants.
[1:14] Even worse, instead of putting her old sanitary towels into the
[1:18] bathroom bin, SIL would frequently leave them on top of
[1:20] it. I asked the youngest brother's
[1:22] wife about their neatness before they moved in.
[1:25] According to her, everything was maintained tidy and orderly so
[1:28] they had no complaints. But during family get togethers
[1:31] over the holidays, I had personally witnessed how they
[1:34] behaved differently in other households than mine.
[1:36] I made my youngest brother and my parents in law witnesses to
[1:39] their pledge to help out around the house and to keep it as tidy
[1:42] as they found it. In order to maintain
[1:43] accountability, they would have to depart right away if they
[1:46] disobeyed these regulations. SIL consented but retorted
[1:50] mockingly. As you wish, Your Highness.
[1:53] It was all right for the first five days.
[1:55] Then this morning, I discovered a used, incorrectly wrapped
[1:59] sanitary towel on top of the trash can.
[2:01] Her daughter, who was staying in my daughter's room, placed a
[2:04] used tampon on the sink and smashed the shampoo and
[2:07] conditioner in the bathroom. Additionally, because SI LS
[2:10] husband had left for work early, the kitchen was in disarray.
[2:14] I couldn't risk my inquisitive toddler picking up a bloody
[2:16] sanitary towel. I knocked on the door of the
[2:19] guest room and instructed her to gather her belongings and go.
[2:22] With an indignant expression, she asserted her innocence and
[2:25] said I could throw it away if it bothered me.
[2:27] It was just some blood. The final straw was that after
[2:31] grabbing her luggage, I began packing her things.
[2:34] She refused to leave the house at first, claiming that she
[2:37] didn't follow my instructions and that she was going to wait
[2:39] for her brother. I informed her that I also own
[2:42] this house. A few hours ago I dropped her
[2:45] off at my in laws with her youngest children.
[2:47] Her husband made a scene when I wouldn't let him in after he
[2:49] returned from work. He visited my in laws but
[2:52] because of Phil's sickness, they don't want them there.
[2:55] Within 20 minutes after my husband got home from work, my
[2:58] in laws and her family were in our driveway.
[3:01] They are still arguing about being allowed inside.
[3:03] While standing outside, I warned my husband that he was not
[3:06] welcome in our house either if he backed down and I wouldn't
[3:09] open the door. Second paragraph, First update,
[3:13] A little update. My driveway appeared to be the
[3:16] scene of a Mexican standoff yesterday.
[3:18] I declined to walk out and participate in the conversation
[3:21] while they were out there. Two hours.
[3:23] Two whole hours later, they were gone.
[3:26] They are at my in laws right now, but they said they would
[3:28] come back tomorrow when everyone would be home from work to talk
[3:31] about the situation and come up with a practical answer.
[3:34] That's what my hubby told me anyway.
[3:36] I informed my husband that I would not have them in my home
[3:39] as soon as he entered. Additionally, he cleaned up
[3:42] after them when I instructed him to.
[3:44] He asked me why I made him do it after he had cleaned up.
[3:47] I informed him that in contrast to him, I was not biologically
[3:50] linked to other people and that I was equally repulsed by their
[3:53] bodily fluids. I went on to say that he could
[3:55] only image how awful I used to feel when I had to clean up
[3:58] after them if he thought it was dirty.
[4:00] He bleached the sink three times and said he would buy a new bin.
[4:04] We have a plan for tomorrow that states they will never move in
[4:06] with us. He left the task of cleaning up
[4:09] the shampoo and conditioner mess in the bathroom to his niece.
[4:12] Our daughter is welcome to use our shower in the meanwhile
[4:15] tomorrow. We'll see how this plays out.
[4:18] Third paragraph, 2nd update. It was a long day with my in
[4:22] laws yesterday. We left early in order to finish
[4:25] it. A guilt trip was the first thing
[4:26] my in laws did. They first said they would house
[4:29] them until they found a place, but it wouldn't be good for FI
[4:32] LS health because of his diabetes.
[4:35] In order for them to stay with them because they have extra
[4:37] bedrooms, I advised them to advise their daughter to
[4:39] discipline her kids so they wouldn't run around like
[4:41] monkeys. SIL wasn't pleased about that.
[4:45] She launched into a diatribe accusing me of trying to sour
[4:48] relations between her and her brother and claiming that I had
[4:50] always envied her. I told her that since she didn't
[4:53] like her own life, it was unrealistic for me to be envious
[4:56] of hers. Since my husband never gets
[4:58] involved in my family's affairs, she wondered whether he would
[5:01] mind if I told him what to do with his family.
[5:03] She instructed him to establish the rule and let me know that
[5:06] his sister and her family would remain for however long it took
[5:09] them to relocate. That was unacceptable to my
[5:11] hubby. He informed her that it was a
[5:13] two yes, one no situation and that the house belonged to me
[5:16] equally to his. Even though I was now a stay at
[5:19] home wife, I still made contributions to the houses
[5:22] purchase when I was employed. His MIL was staying because of
[5:25] the baby, so the younger brother and his wife indicated they
[5:28] wouldn't be able to host them. Renovations were mentioned by
[5:31] the older ones. The wives of the older and
[5:33] younger brothers claimed that I was making this up, saying that
[5:36] she always kept their home and her own tidy.
[5:38] I was advised to accept it and behave like family since I saw
[5:42] what I saw and her brother witnessed it and had to clean it
[5:45] up. I informed them I wasn't there
[5:46] to debate about her cleanliness. He attested to the fact that he
[5:50] did and that I wasn't lying. After making a mistake, my
[5:53] sister-in-law asked her brother, why did you clean it up?
[5:56] Because I was supposed to clean it up, she said either she knows
[6:00] she has the entire family in her pocket or she is the most stupid
[6:03] person alive to acknowledge that.
[6:05] In any event, I made it plain that she would not be staying
[6:08] with me and that because she got along much better with the other
[6:10] members of the family, they would find a solution on their
[6:13] own. My niece refused to clean up the
[6:15] leftover mess when my husband told her that she was old enough
[6:18] to do so. She's your niece, but my
[6:20] daughter. Don't you dare tell her what to
[6:22] do. Her father chimed in, causing a
[6:24] heated argument that they both had to end.
[6:26] I explained to her and her husband that my husband and I
[6:29] were simply there to collect money for the trash can we had
[6:31] to discard because she was scattering biohazards all over
[6:34] the house. It would never happen, she
[6:36] replied, laughing in my face. All right, I said.
[6:41] It happened so fast that day that I still had her daughter's,
[6:43] her husband's, and her two younger children's tablets,
[6:46] along with some of her jewelry and a few other items.
[6:49] I hope you understand that when I threw you out, I didn't pack
[6:52] all your possessions. I assured her that everything
[6:55] would be sold to cover my expenses.
[6:57] She was shouting loudly about what she would do to me if I
[6:59] dared to sell anything. As we were leaving, having my
[7:02] back, my hubby advised me to sell anything I needed to.
[7:06] They continued to text my husband later, pleading with him
[7:09] to do them a favor by putting up with her for a few months until
[7:11] she recovered. I informed him that I would
[7:14] never consent to allowing her, her slobby husband, and her
[7:17] swarm of kids to return. They also tried to guilt me
[7:20] about his niece's education by texting me saying that if they
[7:23] find a rental outside of the school zone, she could have to
[7:25] start at another school because they don't have a place to
[7:28] remain near her school. Tough luck.
[7:30] I responded back, then blocked them.
[7:32] Although my husband won't block his parents, he was upset with
[7:35] his brothers for accusing him of being self-centered for not
[7:38] taking them in when they were going through a difficult time.
[7:41] Although they acknowledged that it was disgusting, they
[7:43] justified her actions by speculating that I might have
[7:45] done something to make it worse. Finally, the wife of the oldest
[7:49] brother sent a voicemail to my husband's WhatsApp using her
[7:52] husband's phone. She said.
[7:54] I'm not kidding. You're still fine to watch her
[7:56] six year old on Tuesdays and Wednesdays as usual, aren't you?
[8:00] I instructed him to determine the response to that inquiry.
[8:03] A new family was moving into the area, so I had to stay a little
[8:06] while longer. After I went to pick up my kids,
[8:09] we held a brief meet and greet since the parents wanted to get
[8:11] to know the parents of their kids classmates.
[8:14] Since I often pick up my husband's older brother's 6 year
[8:16] old daughter on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the office brought
[8:19] her to me. Since no one had been to pick
[8:21] her up, her instructor, assuming I was late because of the
[8:24] meeting with the new parents, instructed an office
[8:26] administrator to bring her to me.
[8:27] When she saw me waiting in the hallway, I informed them that on
[8:31] Tuesdays and Wednesdays I was no longer in charge of her.
[8:34] They must have contacted her mother when they brought her
[8:37] back to the office. My husband informed me when I
[8:39] got home from the meet and greet that his parents had called and
[8:42] expressed their disapproval of me leaving their grandchild.
[8:45] Additionally, they placed his older brother's wife on the
[8:48] phone and she and my husband got into a heated argument.
[8:51] He spoke with the SILI expelled as well.
[8:54] In the end, my husband informed his parents that they would not
[8:57] be allowed to speak to him for a week and that he would only
[8:59] unblock them if they sincerely apologize to him and to me.
[9:03] After I made it apparent that I would no longer offer free
[9:05] services, he clarified that it was the parents responsibility
[9:08] to arrange for pickup. For the time being, the SIL who
[9:12] I expelled is still living with her parents.
[9:14] My in laws are hosting her spouse, two of her elder
[9:17] children and her younger 2. The two younger ones and the
[9:20] other two older ones are dispersed throughout the other
[9:22] two homes. They did, however, imply that it
[9:26] would be a short term arrangement because she had
[9:27] assured them that she would soon convince her brother to change
[9:30] his ways. I believe I have a long journey
[9:32] ahead of me. The wife of the oldest brother
[9:35] was present when I dropped off my kids at school on Friday.
[9:38] She trailed after me. She confronted me in the store
[9:41] parking lot when I paused to pick up some products.
[9:43] I refused to accept her sincere apologies and desire to make
[9:46] things right. She was desperate, claiming that
[9:49] since she is the lead and must oversee, she would lose the
[9:52] project if she missed one more week of overtime.
[9:54] She had to pick up her six year old since her husband was unable
[9:57] to adjust his schedule. She argued that resenting her
[10:00] six year old over a casual remark was not justified.
[10:03] Her child blamed me for the biohazards left in my house, so
[10:06] I told her that wasn't a casual remark.
[10:09] She stated that she hoped to defuse the tension and that all
[10:11] she wanted was for everyone to get along.
[10:14] I suggested that she asked the SIL for assistance, but she said
[10:17] that the SIL had declined since she was barely able to manage
[10:20] her three children under the age of 7.
[10:23] In order to free up time and energy to pick up the kids, I
[10:26] advised her to ask the youngest wife who has her mother residing
[10:28] with her. She claimed that rather than
[10:30] assisting with her six year old, the youngest wife preferred to
[10:33] focus on the early recollections of her own child.
[10:36] I advised her to accept it and work with the people she
[10:39] regarded as family to find a solution.
[10:41] I then proceeded with my shopping.
[10:43] She was there once again when I went to pick up my child in the
[10:46] afternoon. She accompanied me home.
[10:48] Once we exited the pickup line, I parallel parked my driveway to
[10:52] keep her from parking there and bothering me at my door.
[10:54] In order to transfer the car, I texted my husband to ask him to
[10:58] let me know when he would be home.
[11:00] She parked on the side road and came to my house.
[11:02] Despite being unable to find a spot, I refused to open the
[11:05] door. When she rang the ring, she went
[11:07] around the back and knocked on my back door, telling me that
[11:10] since we were family, I couldn't avoid her forever through the
[11:13] glass. I threatened to contact the
[11:15] police for harassment if she didn't leave.
[11:17] Then she went off. My mother-in-law and
[11:20] father-in-law were there when I went to answer our doorbell in
[11:22] the evening. I let them in because they
[11:24] wanted to apologize and come inside.
[11:27] The first thing they told us was how much the past three days had
[11:30] changed them. They then apologized and
[11:32] requested me to return to my regular self.
[11:34] According to my mother-in-law, because life is full of ups and
[11:37] downs, you may have to tolerate negativity from family members
[11:40] at times. It can't be all sunshine and
[11:43] roses all the time. They tried to guilt trip me into
[11:46] helping out with the six year old by pointing out that her
[11:48] mother and I had previously been on good terms.
[11:50] So my husband stopped his mother and said then why do we critical
[11:54] back slur lemon and I have to be the only ones on the receiving
[11:59] end of the negativity. When will you hold my sister and
[12:02] the others accountable for their behavior when she choose her
[12:05] side? I added, she forfeited that
[12:07] privilege given that she might lose her work.
[12:10] They wondered if I would be able to sleep at night.
[12:12] When my husband mentioned how much I had done for her without
[12:15] receiving payment, I said yes. They retorted that it shouldn't
[12:18] matter if I had another child who was already potty trained
[12:22] because I was already at home. Since I had given up a lot for
[12:25] their kid over the years. I assured them that it did make
[12:27] a difference. I added that they had no right
[12:30] to force me to assist if they couldn't persuade the younger
[12:32] brother's wife to do so when I would return.
[12:35] The items I was holding hostage was what they wanted to know.
[12:38] My spouse interrupted, claiming that he was the one holding them
[12:41] captive and that they would be given back after his sister
[12:43] covered the costs. According to my FILSL would be
[12:47] justified in informing the police about the theft.
[12:50] In response, my spouse said she can do as she pleases.
[12:54] My spouse then disclosed something that I was unaware of.
[12:57] He instructed them to inform his sister that he had cancelled the
[13:00] hotel and all of the summer holiday plans, including his
[13:03] niece's horseback riding. He clarified that he didn't feel
[13:06] compelled to cover SI LS expenses if her father may ask
[13:09] him. Who do you think you are to boss
[13:10] my daughter around? My spouse made the decision to
[13:13] stop funding because their father was uncertain about the
[13:16] uncle, niece relationship and his authority to teach her
[13:18] responsibility. This disturbed my mother-in-law.
[13:22] He acknowledged that he had cancelled it when she remarked.
[13:24] You haven't done that, have you? I thought we would all have a
[13:27] great vacation. I refused to accept their
[13:30] attempts at justification, saying that S I'll had a lot on
[13:33] her plate with the house loss and young children.
[13:36] I informed them that she had made bad decisions that led to
[13:38] her current predicament and that having a 9th kid would not make
[13:41] things better. According to my MIL, her body,
[13:44] her choices means that every woman should make her own
[13:47] decisions regarding family planning and I shouldn't tell S
[13:50] I'll what she should or shouldn't do.
[13:52] She argued it was different, claiming she wasn't telling me
[13:54] to have more or fewer children since she liked grandchildren.
[13:57] The more the better. I responded.
[14:00] Like you're dictating to me right now by weaseling your way
[14:03] into our home under the guise of an apology.
[14:05] I said to her, you can't expect me to look after other people's
[14:08] children either. The less stress I have, the
[14:11] merrier I am. That also falls under my body,
[14:14] my choice. We had decided to be less
[14:17] friendly over a little issue, so they turned to my husband and
[14:20] asked whether he was truly putting them through all of
[14:22] this. He replied.
[14:24] Scrubbing down the two bathrooms after my niece and sister wasn't
[14:27] exactly the highlight of my life.
[14:29] We kindly requested them to leave since they were unable to
[14:32] stop apologizing and complaining about us not going with them for
[14:35] the family holiday and about canceling Sills and her family's
[14:38] vacation, which they said destroyed the atmosphere for
[14:40] everyone. The doorbell kept ringing and
[14:42] there was frantic hammering on our door on Saturday early,
[14:45] waking us up. SIL and her oldest son were
[14:48] there. My spouse assured me that he
[14:50] would take care of it. She attempted to push through as
[14:53] he opened the door but my husband stopped her.
[14:55] She was yelling and claiming to be able to knock some sense into
[14:58] me by coming inside. To put things in perspective, I
[15:01] am a year and a few months older than her and she is little over
[15:04] 2 years older than my husband. She shoved $300 in his face and
[15:08] asked is she happy now that cradle snatching expletive.
[15:12] She continued to abuse me, calling me a jealous expletive
[15:15] and saying that I had ruined their family by controlling him.
[15:18] She went on to say that she expected him to promptly
[15:21] reschedule the vacation and activities now that she had
[15:23] given the money back. My spouse said that even if hell
[15:26] froze over, it wouldn't occur. While he went to get something,
[15:30] he instructed her to wait outside.
[15:32] He entered, put their things in a bag, and left out one of the
[15:35] tablets he had purchased and was still paying for with insurance.
[15:38] He gave her the bag. After opening the door, she
[15:41] started swearing and urged him to mature.
[15:43] She threatened to file a report against him for causing damage
[15:46] to her possessions. He calmly retorted that
[15:49] everything was captured on camera and cautioned her against
[15:51] taking legal action because her children could hardly afford a
[15:54] lawyer, much less a place to live.
[15:56] He warned her not to set foot on our land ever again before
[15:59] slamming the door in her face. Without any further drama, she
[16:02] departed. My mother-in-law and
[16:04] father-in-law later called us and tried to talk sense into our
[16:07] heads. I had agreed with my husband to
[16:09] allow them to see our kids as long as they met certain
[16:12] requirements. Even though I'm not a lawyer, I
[16:15] informed them that their rights were restricted in our state
[16:17] when they claimed to have grandparent rights.
[16:19] They had to respect me and my family if they wanted to have a
[16:22] relationship with their grandchildren.
[16:24] We don't currently communicate with the other brothers, their
[16:26] spouses, SIL, or her immediate relatives to convey a message.
[16:31] We momentarily unblock them before blocking them once more.
[16:34] We don't mind at all if the older brothers kids wish to get
[16:37] in touch with us or visit. The six year old can only come
[16:40] here on weekends when we have time to host them and only if
[16:43] her elder siblings are present to watch over her.
[16:45] There won't be any more surprise visits.
[16:48] We will also block their parents if they call us using those
[16:50] numbers. The wife of the older brother
[16:52] called me while I was messaging and offered to pay me $7.50 per
[16:56] hour for the days I watched her six year old.
[16:59] She texted me to sweeten the bargain, offering to pay me for
[17:01] the previous three months, but I said no thank you, I'll pass on
[17:05] that wonderful opportunity. Still, I declined.
