[0:02] a listener production.
[0:05] I'm Bec Judd.
[0:06] And I'm Jess Roberts.
[0:07] And we're done with the smoke and mirrors.
[0:09] Fainish shares honest stories about what it takes to look amazing because we did not wake up like this.
[0:15] And you should know the stuff that we chat about on this podcast is based on our personal experiences.
[0:21] We're sharing it for your entertainment.
[0:23] It's definitely not medical advice.
[0:26] And we'll always be clear with you when something is a paid endorsement.
[0:29] Please always chat with your qualified healthcare team before making any decisions about your health.
[0:49] Hey guys, so today we have Justin Hill, aka Jazzy, on the show.
[0:57] He's actually a Vanish team member.
[1:00] He does all of our social media videos.
[1:02] He does.
[1:03] He cuts them off, everything you see.
[1:04] It's Jazzy's work.
[1:07] He's also an entertainment reporter, TV presenter, spent over a decade interviewing some of the world's biggest stars, red carpets, exclusive interviews, you name it.
[1:16] He has done it.
[1:17] He's also the creator of Just Now.
[1:19] interviewed and hosts several pop culture podcasts, the streaming service with Justin Hill, RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, the podcast.
[1:27] So welcome to the show, Veinish, Justin Hill.
[1:29] Jazzy Jazzy in the house.
[1:32] Welcome.
[1:33] The man behind Veinish's videos.
[1:35] Yeah.
[1:36] And Veinish's number one fan too, can I say.
[1:39] I love it.
[1:40] Like, I eat, sleep and breathe this podcast, let me tell you.
[1:43] Just as vain as us, are you?
[1:45] Absolutely.
[1:46] Now, speaking of that...
[1:48] You have had some procedures that we really are desperate to hear about from the male perspective.
[1:54] And today we really, really want to chat about your abdominoplasty or tummy tuck.
[2:00] Yeah.
[2:01] So talk to us.
[2:01] When did you have this done?
[2:03] So I had it done around six years ago and it was post about 50 kilos in weight loss.
[2:10] And so it's funny because the decision to have it done, I was always like, oh, but like, do I want to be left with the scars?
[2:17] And like, it was always this kind of like,
[2:19] tossing up with me was to whether I was happy to be left with the excess skin after losing that or and I just got to a point one day where like I've been with my partner for 10 years now and I was like I think I would rather have the scar and feel better in my clothes because I found myself continually looking at photos of myself and being like I can see the excess skin and I kind of felt like I was a little bit short-changed by my weight loss.
[2:46] Yeah because it's
[2:46] I guess the thing is like when you lose so much weight and you are now trying to find new clothes, you still kind of stick to the bigger clothes to kind of cover up the skin.
[2:54] You do.
[2:54] Yeah.
[2:55] So how much skin are we talking?
[2:56] Like, could you grab it?
[2:57] Like, can you give us, can you paint a picture of what it looked like and felt like?
[3:01] So I had both a tummy tuck and my chest done as well.
[3:06] For my chest, I had about a B to C cup boob, you would say.
[3:11] And this is post weight loss.
[3:12] Yeah.
[3:13] So in total for both procedures, they took eight kilos of skin tissue.
[3:17] Wow.
[3:18] Yeah.
[3:18] So it was quite a substantial amount.
[3:20] So it was kind of like a bit of an apron of skin that like hung around.
[3:24] And with my particular operation, my scar goes almost all the way around.
[3:28] And then you have lipo as well just to get rid of any of those problem areas.
[3:32] Yeah.
[3:33] But the weird thing is, is that I had been overweight for so long that I had never, ever had a flat stomach.
[3:41] And so to go to sleep and to wake up and for it to be gone was just a multitude of things.
[3:47] It was emotional, but I feel like the best way to describe it was probably surreal.
[3:53] Just like putting my hands on my stomach and feeling that gone was just a wild moment for me.
[4:00] Yeah.
[4:02] What did you do when you woke up?
[4:03] Yeah.
[4:04] When I got my boobs done, I woke up and I put my hands on it.
[4:07] I was like.
[4:08] Same.
[4:08] This is the best thing I ever had boobs.
[4:13] Yeah.
[4:13] Ever.
[4:14] And I looked at it.
[4:15] I was like, yes.
[4:16] Yeah.
[4:17] I did the same thing, but in reverse.
[4:19] I was like, it's gone.
[4:23] But it's the weirdest feeling because for you, like you just go to sleep and then you wake up and you're like, I mean, you feel like you've been hit by a car.
[4:32] Yeah, yeah.
[4:33] But it was euphoric.
[4:35] I was kind of like, you know, I actually cried the first time I put on a T-shirt and could see that there was nothing poking out that I hated.
[4:43] It was just the wildest feeling.
[4:46] And I guess like working so hard to lose the weight and then having that, it just would be such an awakening moment of just… It really is.
[4:55] Especially because when you are a larger person, you go through sort of like bullying.
[5:00] But the one thing I've learned, I think, is that post-surgery is that bullies don't stop.
[5:05] Do you know what I mean?
[5:07] And it taught me such a lesson to be like, just because you have a surgery, bullies are always going to be there.
[5:14] My motivation was never to stop bullies from being bullies to me.
[5:18] This morning when I flew down here to do your podcast, I had someone bullying me.
[5:23] It's crazy.
[5:25] I was walking through the airport and I could hear a conversation of someone who was
[5:30] was in front of me and then behind me.
[5:32] And I just heard this conversation of like, talking about how I was dressed and how I looked and, you know, and I was just like, God, it just is such a reminder that like, bullies will always be around.
[5:45] There are assholes everywhere.
[5:47] Literally.
[5:48] And we always say, like, happy people don't hurt people.
[5:51] We learned that from our girlfriend, Lana.
[5:53] And they're just jealous.
[5:54] They really are.
[5:55] She's so much about them.
[5:57] You look so good.
[5:58] And you would have been strutting through, like, confident.
[6:01] And I just had some fresh anti-wrinkle last week.
[6:06] So I was like, it's starting to set in.
[6:08] I was like, I'm looking great for this podcast.
[6:11] You're so right, Jess.
[6:13] Lana always says,
[6:15] Happy people don't hurt people.
[6:16] To have that negative thought about someone is a reflection of something that's going on in your life.
[6:20] And when you flip it like that, you kind of go, oh, I'd hate to be that person in their mind frame right now.
[6:26] Because how sad is that?
[6:27] I know.
[6:28] I always pity people when they bully me.
[6:30] Yeah, I'm the same.
[6:31] Right.
[6:32] So you look at them and you think, gosh, your life is so sad that to get some kind of like dopamine hit, you have to make fun of someone else.
[6:41] Yeah.
[6:41] Mind you, you know, I get a fair bit as I'm sure both of you do as well with online bullying.
[6:46] Yeah.
[6:47] And I would say eight times out of 10, I just go, I feel the pity.
[6:51] Yeah.
[6:52] But if you're person nine or 10, I tell you what, you get me on a bad day, I will find where you work.
[6:58] And I have.
[6:59] And I have sent them screenshots.
[7:01] And I've said, I'm sure you have a really strong policy about bullying online in the contracts that your employees sign.
[7:06] I was like, just to let you know.
[7:08] Here's HR.
[7:09] And I've done it.
[7:10] Yeah, good on you.
[7:11] I'm just like, don't catch me on person nine or 10 because like, that's when you'll cop it.
[7:15] This happened to me last week.
[7:16] I never bite.
[7:17] back never ever ever ever ever bite back and i bit back to some person i wasn't having a bad day but i was just like oh you crossed a line so i said my piece and then jess texts me and she goes oh my god this is the best thing you've ever done this is why you're my best friend and i love you can i tell you can i tell you something i'm so proud of you can i tell you something about that post yeah i screenshotted it and sent it to everyone
[7:42] I screenshot it too.
[7:43] It's so good.
[7:45] I was like, this is why I love you because you just got them with your intelligence.
[7:52] Yeah, yeah.
[7:52] How many people, like, you must have been so proud of her.
[7:55] I was so proud.
[7:56] And she's still missing a whole bunch of things on that list as well.
[7:58] I didn't want to boast, but I could have added more.
[8:00] Oh, yeah.
[8:01] The boast for listeners who didn't know about the post was someone.
[8:03] It was brilliant.
[8:04] It was having a crack at Vanish and saying that maybe I should get a career that's not so related to vanity.
[8:10] To beauty and vanity.
[8:10] And I'm like, what, like.
[8:12] And I listed all these things about all the different careers I've had in my life.
[8:15] It was like 10.
[8:17] And I left some out because the list was getting a bit long.
[8:19] The list was so long.
[8:21] Overachieving.
[8:22] She's amazing.
[8:23] It was brilliant.
[8:24] It was brilliant.
[8:24] But then at the end, I actually did feel a bit sorry for the lady.
[8:27] I was like, oh, she just caught me on the bed.
[8:28] day.
[8:29] Like if she did be yesterday.
[8:30] No, no, no, no, no, no.
[8:32] Make me feel great.
[8:33] Yeah, yeah.
[8:34] I have to say, like when I get trolled or get a bully to have one this morning, I'm like, let's go.
[8:39] Yeah.
[8:40] I'm like, you're going to cop it.
[8:41] I always get blocked.
[8:42] They always block me.
[8:43] Yeah.
[8:43] Yeah.
[8:44] Cowards.
[8:44] Cowards.
[8:45] Yeah.
[8:45] Cowards.
[8:47] But yes, back to Tommy Jugs.
[8:48] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[8:49] Back to Tommy Jugs.
[8:49] I'm a side press.
[8:50] It's interesting what just as we wrap up the bully conversation, you're talking about
[8:55] been bullied for overweight and they'll always be bullies.
[8:57] And it's true.
[8:58] Like my whole life has been bullied for being underweight.
[9:01] Like they will pick anything out to give themselves a dopamine hit.
[9:05] Absolutely.
[9:06] So as long as we're all on the same page, right, that we understand that that's how they work and we've got a good mindset, then –
[9:12] Let them.
[9:13] Yeah, let them.
[9:14] I think once you understand that, it makes you feel so much better.
[9:16] You just pity them and just think, well, that's the highlight of your day.
[9:21] You go, girl.
[9:22] Yeah.
[9:23] So your tummy tuck.
[9:24] Yes.
[9:25] Wow.
[9:25] Okay.
[9:25] So you woke up, you put your hands there.
[9:27] You're like, oh, my God.
[9:29] Feeling less opposite of you.
[9:31] Hallelujah.
[9:33] How long was the surgery?
[9:36] Because we had Professor Mark Ashton in here who's a tummy tuck expert and he was talking about when they roll the patient over to get that almost full, almost a 360-degree scar.
[9:47] He was saying it's like all day.
[9:49] Yeah?
[9:50] So mine was meant to be six hours and it ended up being eight.
[9:55] Yeah.
[9:55] That's a long time under a general.
[9:57] Yes.
[9:57] It's a great sleep.
[9:58] Yes.
[10:00] For me, it was very quick.
[10:02] I was like, go three, two, and I was out.
[10:05] But, yeah, for me, this is the thing, and I know that some other people that you've had on, I've talked about this as well, was my recovery.
[10:12] I could not stand up straight, like, for, gosh, like, a good...
[10:17] four, five weeks.
[10:19] I had to sleep in like a jackknife position.
[10:21] So you have to put cushions underneath your knees and kind of sleep with your knees bed.
[10:25] You kind of get like bed sores and bruises.
[10:27] You can, absolutely.
[10:28] You need to be up and about.
[10:29] My surgeon was wonderful and said to me, you know, that's not going to happen.
[10:34] He's like, but you have to understand what's been done in your stomach.
[10:38] I made the mistake of
[10:40] Looking up on YouTube the procedure before I had it done.
[10:44] Oh, God.
[10:45] Don't ever do that.
[10:46] Yeah, and if you're about to give birth, I did that.
[10:49] Yeah, no.
[10:49] I did that.
[10:50] Bad idea.
[10:52] And then I looked at my own bits before I gave birth.
[10:55] Don't do that in the mirror.
[10:57] I went upside down between my legs and had a look.
[11:00] I was like, holy shit.
[11:01] What is that?
[11:02] Celine Dion, my heart will go on, starts playing.
[11:05] Just farewell her.
[11:07] But yeah, so I was like very bent over.
[11:11] I had drainage tubes, went home with them.
[11:13] And you just really have to take it easy.
[11:16] I mean, the recovery was tough, but you have this wonderful feeling of like, I've done it finally, you know.
[11:22] Done.
[11:22] You want to do all the things that are right.
[11:24] My problem was I was a stomach sleeper.
[11:26] So then I had to sleep on my back, which was tricky.
[11:29] Are you a back sleeper now?
[11:30] Yeah.
[11:30] I'm a side sleeper now.
[11:31] Okay.
[11:32] But it was just getting used to those sorts of things and just taking it very easy and not overdoing it.
[11:38] But then I did go back to the gym probably a little too early, threw myself into it, injured my shoulder, gave myself bursitis and a pinched nerve.
[11:46] Oh, yeah.
[11:47] I've got bursitis as well.
[11:49] It's so annoying.
[11:50] Is it the worst thing?
[11:52] I was like, is this my life now?
[11:53] Dave, that's what I think.
[11:55] I'm like, is it every day when I get out of bed, I'm going to have this until I die?
[11:58] Yeah.
[11:59] Because that's miserable.
[12:00] Do you know what fixed mine?
[12:01] And I had, well, this is what helped me.
[12:04] Yeah.
[12:05] Was going back to the gym and going and seeing my trainer and getting them to help me with strengthening exercises.
[12:11] And I was the same.
[12:13] And it's the worst.
[12:15] I do now.
[12:16] It's more about strengthening the muscles around the joint so that it's in the right position.
[12:23] Mine's from playing lots of tennis.
[12:25] As soon as I started actually listening to my physios, right?
[12:28] So I'd go to the physio.
[12:29] And he'd be like, you need to do these exercises.
[12:31] And I'd go home and I'd do them like twice a week.
[12:34] These exercises aren't working.
[12:36] Then I was like, one day, I was so over it.
[12:38] I was kind of thinking, is this my life now?
[12:41] Am I an old lady?
[12:42] I thought, fuck it.
[12:43] I'm going to do these exercises morning and night, seven days a week to see if I make a difference.
[12:48] Well, after five days, the pain went away.
[12:51] Isn't that amazing?
[12:52] And I said, physio was right.
[12:54] I needed to do it every day.
[12:55] Listen to your doctor's mouth.
[12:57] Yeah, isn't that weird?
[12:58] Listen to medical professionals.
[12:59] I know those ones.
[13:00] With the band.
[13:00] Yes, other ones.
[13:01] You've got a band and you go, and you've got your arm at a right, shoulder back.
[13:04] It's so boring.
[13:05] It actually works.
[13:05] On the back of your door.
[13:06] Yeah.
[13:07] And that's the thing too.
[13:08] Like I always say to people, with any cosmetic procedure –
[13:12] you have done, and I've had a lot from top to toe, like it's a medical procedure and you've got to listen to the experts.
[13:19] You've got to listen to the advice that they give you because I think a lot of people go into these procedures and they don't think about like what the outcome of it's going to be, or they don't understand that what they're having done is still a medical procedure.
[13:31] I think because a lot of people globally are just...
[13:34] you know, popping in and having a bit of filler or having a bit of anti-wrinkle.
[13:37] You've got to, like, for me, I have had a few procedures that have had side effects.
[13:43] I had a laser on my veins on my nose and it unfortunately left a hole, like a little hole in my nose because that's just a risk of the procedure.
[13:54] I had anti-wrinkle last week.
[13:56] I've got a bruise.
[13:57] It's one of those things that you have to understand that there are side effects you have to be very aware of.
[14:01] Yeah, absolutely.
[14:02] I've had a few procedures as well, and I would say that for everything you get, there are signs, there are traces.
[14:09] You might have a lump or a bump or something might be uneven or you will have a scar.
[14:13] So people need to know, you know, they see these celebrities online and they think, oh, I'm just going to get this and then my face is going to be perfect.
[14:21] Everything leaves its mark.
[14:23] Every single procedure.
[14:24] Absolutely.
[14:25] And if you're chasing perfection, you are never going to get it.
[14:27] Just use an AI filter, honestly.
[14:29] It's cheaper.
[14:30] Just use Face Gen. Way cheaper.
[14:33] Pay for this subscription.
[14:35] Yeah, yeah.
[14:35] God.
[14:35] How's the scarf?
[14:37] Yeah, good.
[14:38] So I actually had a revision on my chest at the end of last year.
[14:41] So I've had two surgeries on my chest now because when I had my surgery done, my doctor said, chest is tricky because of your range of movement.
[14:50] So you have to be really careful as to like the removal of that skin.
[14:53] And like I said, had it six years ago and then got to a point where I had what they call doggy ears.
[14:59] So I had those removed.
[15:00] So my scars were actually very even because we did needling on them.
[15:05] Which I... Microneedling.
[15:06] Yes.
[15:07] I get that done on my face.
[15:08] Yes.
[15:08] I get it done on my scars.
[15:09] Did you ever have acne scarring?
[15:11] No.
[15:11] I think it started with the Kim Kardashian vampire facial.
[15:14] Do you remember that?
[15:15] Yes.
[15:15] So we were doing that on my scars.
[15:17] So my stomach scars, in some places, super faint.
[15:21] Like you would never even know that they're there.
[15:23] But like you say, it does leave a mark in other places.
[15:25] But for me, I kind of look at it and I go, well, that is the journey that I've been on.
[15:28] Like that tells me about...
[15:30] you know, about that time in my life, about the time before, like, you know.
[15:35] It's a story.
[15:36] It does.
[15:36] It tells a tale.
[15:37] And I'm actually very happy that I made the decision to go and have it done.
[15:42] So you've microneedled your scars.
[15:43] Did you use any other laser on it to help fade them or to flatten them?
[15:47] No, because I was pretty lucky where mine were quite flat and I don't get any of their keloid scarring.
[15:53] So you scar well.
[15:54] Yeah.
[15:54] So the only thing I did have was, and this is again, just one of those things of when you do have an operation like this is that because I was a back sleeper, one night I do remember fairly early on
[16:07] just having to go out to the couch and just trying to sleep on my side.
[16:11] And consequently, part of my incision popped open.
[16:14] And so I had to go and just got it checked and everything was fine and just had some butterfly clips on it.
[16:19] But I do have like an uneven part of the scarring there.
[16:22] But I mean, also it's, you know, you can't be chasing perfection.
[16:26] You can't like, for me, if I'm looking and feeling better in my clothes, then that's what's important to me.
[16:31] That's important, yeah.
[16:32] I'm not going to be running around naked.
[16:34] Maybe one day.
[16:34] I mean, I have said that this year is the year of 2026 pack.
[16:39] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[16:40] Oh, I love that.
[16:40] But we'll see.
[16:41] We'll see.
[16:41] We'll see.
[16:50] So let's get into some questions about males and their approach to beauty.
[16:55] Sure.
[16:56] Do you see things like anti-wrinkle treatments becoming more common or are we just hearing more about it?
[17:03] Is there still secrecy about it?
[17:04] Is there stigma?
[17:06] Is the stigma improving?
[17:07] What are your thoughts?
[17:08] Because your partner's in the cosmetic industry.
[17:10] Yes, so my partner is a cosmetic injector.
[17:12] He's an injector.
[17:13] Okay.
[17:13] How good is that?
[17:14] Give him a shout out.
[17:14] That's why I put a ring on it.
[17:15] Give him a shout out.
[17:16] My beautiful Aaron Joel.
[17:17] What are your husband?
[17:18] Well, we're fiancés.
[17:19] Yeah.
[17:19] Yeah.
[17:20] Congratulations.
[17:22] Do you know what I would say is that he tells me no a lot.
[17:25] Like I'll be like, oh, I feel like maybe I would like some more cheekbones or some more lips.
[17:29] And he's like, no.
[17:31] He's like, you're not ruining that beautiful face that I've made.
[17:35] I love it.
[17:35] I love it.
[17:36] And I'm like, ugh.
[17:38] I'll go somewhere else.
[17:39] Yeah, I was like, fine.
[17:40] There is still a lot of secrecy around it, particularly for men.
[17:43] And the amount of DMs that I get.
[17:46] So I documented my entire plastic surgery journey.
[17:50] I filmed a lot of stuff six years ago, kept it.
[17:53] And then when I had this most recent surgery, I just put it out on my socials.
[17:56] And it was just so fascinating to see the amount of people commenting on it and the demographic of people, like all women, all like very empowering and amazing versus the men that were in my DMs.
[18:09] One guy said to me, I didn't even know that you could have...
[18:13] that chest surgery?
[18:14] And I was like, of course you can.
[18:16] I'm like, you know, the medical term for it is gynecomastia where you have, you know, excess tissue on your chest and like men have it all the time.
[18:25] And there's varying levels of it.
[18:26] Men can get breast cancer.
[18:27] They can.
[18:28] Yeah.
[18:28] And this is the thing that I say to any guy that messages me is that you have to understand that cosmetic procedures for anyone, men and women, are a sliding scale.
[18:37] You don't have to go in and come out looking like, you know, Frankenstein.
[18:42] You can just go and have little things done.
[18:44] You know, if there's something that's bothering you, then you can just have the tiniest bit of anti wrinkle.
[18:50] Like you don't have to go in and come out looking like a completely different person.
[18:53] I always say to them, you could start really small with something like PRP or skin needling that's
[18:58] you know, not as invasive.
[19:00] And then if you want to do something else, then you can sort of go from there.
[19:03] But I think the problem is these days is that the examples that we have of men who are doing it are not, they're not always great examples.
[19:11] And so for me, I try and normalize it.
[19:13] I try and, you know, I'll try different things and report back as to how it goes so that men feel more comfortable being able to approach me about it and ask me.
[19:22] And a lot of them do, but very much in private.
[19:25] Yeah.
[19:26] It's interesting, isn't it?
[19:28] What at biostimulus do you do that?
[19:30] I haven't ventured into that yet, but that's next on my list of things to do.
[19:34] Because the reason is I've gone through that phase of like wanting the cheekbones and like I've had –
[19:41] Cheek filler, jaw filler, chin filler, like you name it, I've had it done.
[19:45] But now I'm more about like I want healthy skin.
[19:48] Yeah.
[19:49] And I want to look like I'm… Like less is more.
[19:51] Yeah.
[19:51] Like, yes, there is a time and a place for filler if you do have like, you know, fat loss in your face, which we all get as we get older.
[19:58] But I want to look healthy.
[20:00] I think is the difference.
[20:01] And so those are absolutely on my list of things to go next.
[20:06] What's something that men do that, like, they think is making them look better?
[20:10] Dye their beards.
[20:11] And it's the worst thing.
[20:13] But it doesn't make them look better.
[20:14] No, we had Darren Palmer in.
[20:16] And he dyes his beard.
[20:17] And it looks so good.
[20:19] So do I.
[20:20] But can you tell?
[20:21] No.
[20:22] This is the thing.
[20:23] So many men get it so wrong.
[20:25] What are they doing going too dark?
[20:26] This is way too dark.
[20:28] When you go into wherever you get it from, when you're picking up your Just for Men, go a shade lighter for like the love of God.
[20:37] Like there are so many men out there that pick up.
[20:40] you know, like a dark brown or a black, but that's not their skin colour.
[20:44] Like it's not their tones or their hair colour.
[20:48] So always go a bit lighter.
[20:50] And also too, there's nothing wrong with a tiny little bit of grey showing through.
[20:53] Oh, I love a bit of speckle.
[20:54] Yeah, we love a bit of salt and pepper.
[20:55] Yeah.
[20:55] Yeah.
[20:56] And, you know, and this market, though, is so great for men right now because you just mix the two things up.
[21:00] It's so bro-y, like bro science.
[21:03] It's like mix one with two, a little bit together, and it will last you forever.
[21:07] You paint it on, five minutes, wash it off.
[21:09] Like it's the easiest thing that guys can do.
[21:10] And how long does the color last?
[21:11] Until you clip it off.
[21:13] So it's literally a color and a developer.
[21:15] Can we do this for our hair?
[21:17] I believe you go to the hairdresser for that.
[21:18] Yes.
[21:19] You're the second man to recommend Just For Men.
[21:24] Just For Men.
[21:25] Yeah.
[21:25] It's just the color choice.
[21:27] And I think a lot of guys do that and it could just be so much better.
[21:31] But my advice is always go a shade lighter than what you think.
[21:34] It's the same with when you can tell men dye their hair and it goes like an orangey red tint.
[21:39] It's like, okay, you're dyeing your hair, but how did you decide on that colour?
[21:43] Because it is so wrong.
[21:44] Why is everyone giving you a purple shampoo?
[21:46] Yeah, yeah.
[21:47] Oh, come on.
[21:48] Like, why did you bleach it yourself?
[21:51] Yeah, yeah, why?
[21:51] There are professionals that do this.
[21:53] Is there anything else that men do?
[21:55] It's like, oh, don't do that.
[21:57] from a medical perspective, I think you need to go and see a professional who looks after men because the way that I have my anti-wrinkle done or the way that like I would have filler or something like that is so different to a woman's face because a man's face is different.
[22:14] Yes, like men want bigger jaws.
[22:16] Women want finer jaws.
[22:18] Women want arched brows.
[22:19] Men do not.
[22:20] And I think a lot of people go and see –
[22:23] They might also go and see their, like their anti-wrinkle person for their filler.
[22:27] And that's also, I don't think, always a great idea.
[22:30] Because like you structurally, you need to be looking at the face completely different.
[22:34] I feel like a lot of men sometimes do get their anti-wrinkle done and they end up with that spocking and the eyebrows.
[22:40] And also too, you need to be more gentle with it.
[22:43] and not go too crazy.
[22:44] I'm saying that because I've done it.
[22:45] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[22:46] Like I literally had like Frankenstein forehead once.
[22:48] Like it was the worst.
[22:49] Because you want to still look masculine.
[22:51] Yes.
[22:51] You know, and then when you smith out all those lines and stuff and you get rid of volume loss, you can make you quite girly looking, I guess.
[22:59] And when they laugh and their forehead doesn't move, they're like...
[23:03] It's like, yeah, you don't want to be overdone.
[23:05] No, no, no.
[23:06] That's for me.
[23:06] That's for me.
[23:08] Just a nice little sprinkling.
[23:09] But yeah, I think beard colour, hair colour, I mean...
[23:12] Brows.
[23:13] Your brows are great.
[23:14] You can tell you groom your brows, but they're a masculine brow.
[23:17] Yeah.
[23:18] I see some gym bros. Yeah.
[23:20] Some, you know, hot gym bros.
[23:21] Put the wax down.
[23:21] But they're too overplugged and they've got this big arch and they've got these feminine eyebrows.
[23:26] It's not a good look.
[23:27] No, it's not.
[23:27] Let them grow out and keep them nice and short.
[23:30] Yeah.
[23:30] But don't over wax.
[23:31] Okay.
[23:32] There's something you will quickly learn about me is that not a lot of me is real, including my eyebrows.
[23:37] So I've had them microbladed.
[23:40] Oh, okay.
[23:41] So that's dyed?
[23:42] So tattooed.
[23:43] Oh, tattooed.
[23:45] Yeah.
[23:45] So, and I've had them done three times, best thing I ever did.
[23:48] Yeah, well, they're very masculine but tidy.
[23:50] Mind you, I'm only saying this because I have over-waxed them before.
[23:53] My God, there was like a highway between my eyebrows at one point.
[23:57] I look at old photos of me and I'm like, why did I ever let anyone wax so much in between?
[24:02] And I feel like eyebrows really like can change your face.
[24:05] Thank you.
[24:06] This will not surprise you, but I'm very specific.
[24:08] Like when I have my hair done, when I have my eyebrows done or whatever.
[24:11] So I took in pictures of models whose eyebrows I liked.
[24:14] Oh, God, I love it.
[24:15] And I was like, can you do this?
[24:17] Yeah.
[24:17] And the girl was like, of course I can.
[24:19] So best thing I ever did.
[24:21] I highly recommend it to so many men.
[24:23] I'm like, it's like men's makeup.
[24:25] Beards and eyebrows, men's makeup.
[24:27] Yeah, it is so true.
[24:28] I agree with that.
[24:29] Men's makeup.
[24:29] I love that.
[24:30] Where does a man start?
[24:31] Yeah.
[24:32] If they don't want to look like they're wearing makeup.
[24:34] Yeah.
[24:35] I think less is more.
[24:37] I think like even a tinted moisturizer is great and have a play.
[24:42] Like I think that's probably the most, the best piece of advice is like, and it depends what you're going for and make sure your neck always matches your face.
[24:49] Like that's also.
[24:50] Even girls get that wrong.
[24:52] Yeah.
[24:52] Yeah.
[24:53] Yeah.
[24:53] You don't want to see makeup lines, you know, when you're going out and about, but yeah, like a tinted moisturizer is great.
[24:58] There are some men's makeup brands out there, but also too, a lot of
[25:01] you know, products these days are very unisex.
[25:03] So you can just start there.
[25:04] And then if you're feeling a little bit brave, get a powder, get a bronzer, you know.
[25:08] Yeah, get a lip.
[25:09] Yeah, why not?
[25:11] I love that.
[25:12] If men want to start anywhere with their grooming, maybe it's a conversation with their partner as well.
[25:17] Like maybe you're a partner of a man who's listening.
[25:21] Where would they start?
[25:23] Dip their toe in.
[25:24] Is it grooming?
[25:25] Is it makeup?
[25:26] I think…
[25:27] and this is something that comes from my partner, the question he hates is when people say, what would you do to me?
[25:34] What would you change?
[25:35] And he's like, I'm not about that.
[25:37] He's like, you tell me what bothers you.
[25:39] And so I would say the same thing for a guy.
[25:41] What is it about you that you think maybe could like, could your eyebrows be a little tidier?
[25:46] What's going to give you more confidence and make you feel more empowered?
[25:49] Because that's what it is.
[25:50] Who do you look at and who do you think, man, he's a really handsome guy.
[25:53] What is it about him that,
[25:55] you know, is it that he has clear skin or is it that he has fuller hair?
[25:57] And then I would start there.
[25:59] So, you know, if hairline's bothering a guy, then maybe a hair transplant or, you know, looking at something, you know, hair thickening products.
[26:06] There's baby steps you can take.
[26:07] There's makeup that you can put in your receiving hairline and spray it on.
[26:10] And there's also… That's what all the TV people use.
[26:13] There's also tattooing.
[26:14] Yes.
[26:14] So you have the tattoo on your eyebrows.
[26:16] They can do it in your hair now.
[26:17] On your scalp line.
[26:17] Yeah.
[26:18] So many things you can do.
[26:19] Yeah.
[26:19] Maybe you could, like, play with the makeup.
[26:21] If you like that, do something more permanent.
[26:22] Yeah.
[26:23] Mmm.
[26:24] Oh, so many things.
[26:25] Oh, nice.
[26:27] I love this.
[26:28] Okay, so what is your most vainish moment?
[26:32] There are so many.
[26:33] The one where you were like, oh my God, am I okay?
[26:38] Well, I often hear you ask people this and I do think about it myself.
[26:42] And so I have thought about it a bit.
[26:43] And I thought, would I say the second surgery on my chest?
[26:47] Because a lot of people have said to me like, oh,
[26:50] aren't you just happy with like how you are?
[26:52] I actually had a, this is a bit of a, I digress, but it's an important story.
[26:57] I had a very senior TV executive say to me once, I went up to them and they had lost a lot of weight and were looking amazing.
[27:05] And I said, gosh, you look so great at the moment.
[27:08] Like whatever you're doing is really working for you.
[27:10] And they turned around and they said, yeah, well, not all of us have to post about it on social media all the time, do we?
[27:15] I was like gobsmacked.
[27:17] I was like, wow, okay.
[27:19] So a lot of people have said to me previously, like, aren't you happy?
[27:22] Like, shouldn't you just stop now?
[27:23] But I'm like, no.
[27:24] I'm like, you know, it's about what I look at in the mirror.
[27:28] And so I did think that that was maybe my most vanished thing.
[27:30] But then I remembered about the time that I got eyelash extensions.
[27:37] Stop it.
[27:37] Do you have a photo?
[27:38] Oh.
[27:39] I was so embarrassed and I document everything.
[27:44] I share everything on social media.
[27:46] Okay, so this was full trauma.
[27:48] I was like, it makes me feel ill thinking about it now.
[27:51] Now, the story is that I had had them done once before.
[27:55] Yeah, and loved it.
[27:55] And they were like, they were brown, they matched my lashes because, you know,
[27:59] you look at a guy and he's got like beautiful lashes and you just go, oh God, it's so gorgeous.
[28:04] We do it all the time.
[28:04] We look at our kids' lashes.
[28:05] Love them.
[28:06] Love our kids' lashes.
[28:07] Yeah.
[28:07] And some people are just blessed with amazing lashes.
[28:10] So I had had them done and the place did a great job, very natural looking.
[28:15] And then I made the mistake of getting one of those online deals and going to a place and getting it done.
[28:21] A coupon.
[28:22] Literally a coupon.
[28:23] And I explained what I wanted, the same thing.
[28:26] And there are only two words that can describe what I walked out looking like.
[28:30] And those words are drag queen.
[28:32] Oh, my God.
[28:33] Like they were black, plastic, like huge.
[28:38] I was so embarrassed.
[28:39] I was so embarrassed I couldn't even take a photo.
[28:41] Oh, my God.
[28:41] I just said to my partner, don't look at me.
[28:44] How long did you have to live with them for?
[28:45] Can you take them off?
[28:46] No, they would not come off.
[28:48] So they're like super glue.
[28:49] What, like I'm thinking like four weeks?
[28:51] Yeah.
[28:52] I cut them.
[28:54] I put oil on them.
[28:55] And this is immediately after getting them done.
[28:58] I was like, why won't these bastards come off?
[29:00] Like I couldn't believe.
[29:02] She sewed them on.
[29:02] She literally like must have like used super glue to stick them to my face.
[29:07] So I reckon I spent an hour just trying to make them look somewhat normal.
[29:11] And every night, I'd hate to think the damage that I did to my eyelashes at the time, but every night I would just like get oil and rub on them and try and pull them off.
[29:18] But it was just...
[29:19] stupidest thing I've ever done and I would never do it again.
[29:23] Yeah, never do it again.
[29:24] Never do it again.
[29:24] You've actually got really nice lashes.
[29:26] Thanks.
[29:26] You do.
[29:26] I wish I knew that before.
[29:28] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[29:29] I just want your brown mascara on that.
[29:30] Yeah, which I do now.
[29:32] Yeah.
[29:32] But like I just, that will tell you the level of embarrassment is that I couldn't even take a photo of them.
[29:37] Yeah.
[29:38] They were horrific.
[29:38] Do you know what?
[29:39] Yeah.
[29:39] Everyone tries everything once.
[29:41] It's like, why not do lashes?
[29:43] I love it.
[29:43] I love it.
[29:44] Oh my God, that is the best.
[29:46] They were like awful.
[29:48] Lise, imagine having the feathers at the edge.
[29:51] Oh.
[29:51] Oh, the diamond teeth.
[29:52] Oh, the diamond teeth.
[29:53] Or the little like glittery like bits in there.
[29:56] On my mother, they look great, but not on me.
[29:58] Trauma.
[30:00] No, you'll live it.
[30:00] Yeah, it was awful.
[30:02] So good.
[30:02] Well, hey –
[30:03] Can we, like, just set this up now?
[30:05] Now that you've come on and the whole world knows who you are, next time you get another procedure, can we just be like, Jazzy's back with no procedure?
[30:14] Absolutely.
[30:14] And make this a regular?
[30:16] A hundred percent.
[30:17] Look, I talk about it nonstop anyway.
[30:20] And so, I mean, it's just...
[30:22] This is the kind of conversation I have with, you know, people who ask me about it because everyone is curious and everyone wants to be doing things, but they don't necessarily want to be the first person to do it.
[30:31] Yeah.
[30:32] And I think that I have a unique perspective because I am a guy going and doing all these things.
[30:36] So I approach it very differently.
[30:37] So I would love to talk to you about whatever I get done next.
[30:41] There's so many guys that would be like wanting to try things but too scared because there's – They're definitely not getting eyelash extensions.
[30:46] No, yeah, yeah.
[30:48] Do not recommend.
[30:49] Do not recommend.
[30:49] Everything else, absolutely.
[30:51] Yeah, I love it.
[30:52] I love it.
[30:52] But it is.
[30:53] It's like it's so good for guys to kind of come out and tell their stories and what they get done because there's a lot of guys that are –
[30:59] kind of going, oh, I'm getting older.
[31:00] The girls are looking younger because we're getting stuff done.
[31:03] All the girls are getting everything done and the guys are raging.
[31:06] Yeah.
[31:07] We're 20 years younger than our husband.
[31:08] Yeah.
[31:09] And so many men like leave it to a really late point in their life to want to do something about their appearance.
[31:14] And then they look too done.
[31:16] And then it's like why – It's obvious.
[31:17] At what point did you think you had jet black hair?
[31:19] Because like you never did.
[31:21] Never did.
[31:22] Like why now?
[31:23] It's like Chris and Val, like, when did you have hair last?
[31:25] 20 years ago.
[31:26] Getting hair plugs.
[31:27] Yeah, it's so obvious.
[31:28] Should have started 20 years ago.
[31:30] Yeah, yeah.
[31:30] Should have.
[31:31] But also, too, I think, like, there's nothing wrong with being honest about it.
[31:34] And, you know, I have this funny habit where people will say to me, oh, you know, you're
[31:38] this is looking great or that's looking great and I'll go into a spiel and tell them about what I've had done.
[31:44] Different reactions from different people.
[31:45] I think some people are really, they'd love to hear more about it and other people are like, oh, that's not for me.
[31:50] But like, you know, it's nice.
[31:52] Yeah.
[31:52] Stay in the lane and you do you.
[31:53] Exactly.
[31:54] Love it.
[31:54] Well, thanks for coming on.
[31:56] My pleasure.
[31:56] We'll have you on again soon.
[31:58] Yeah, absolutely.
[31:59] On this little adventure.
[32:00] I'll be in your DMs.
[32:00] I'll be like, I've had this done.
[32:02] Thanks for being so honest and I'm sure the men out there and the partners of the men out
[32:08] find this really useful.
[32:09] So thanks for opening the conversation up.
[32:12] My pleasure.
[32:12] Anytime.
[32:13] Bye for now.
[32:14] Bye.
