## Transcript

[0:02] a listener production.
[0:05] I'm Bec Judd.
[0:06] And I'm Jess Roberts.
[0:07] And we're done with the smoke and mirrors.
[0:09] Fainish shares honest stories about what it takes to look amazing because we did not wake up like this.
[0:15] And you should know the stuff that we chat about on this podcast is based on our personal experiences.
[0:21] We're sharing it for your entertainment.
[0:23] It's definitely not medical advice.
[0:26] And we'll always be clear with you when something is a paid endorsement.
[0:29] Please always chat with your qualified healthcare team before making any decisions about your health.
[0:36] Hi there, it's Bec Jard and Jess Roberts.
[0:40] Welcome to Bainish.
[0:48] Welcome.
[0:56] So Jess, this little Instagram post crossed our phones and we thought this is going to be good banter for Vayne-ish.
[1:04] We've got to talk about this.
[1:05] Yes.
[1:06] Because there's some similarities with how we lead our own Vayne lives.
[1:10] Exactly.
[1:10] Exactly.
[1:11] No, this is a bit of a laugh.
[1:12] So there's a lady, Tess Christian, and she didn't smile for 40 years because she was scared about getting wrinkles.
[1:19] Or laugh.
[1:20] Yeah.
[1:21] Imagine being married to her.
[1:23] Yeah.
[1:23] It says in this article, she has literally trained herself to keep a neutral expression without ever laughing or smiling to prevent wrinkles, believing that reducing facial movement would help slow visible signs of aging.
[1:37] And look, she's 60.
[1:39] She looks pretty good.
[1:40] She looks pretty good, but she's also got like... She looks nasty.
[1:43] Yeah.
[1:43] She looks... Unapproachable.
[1:45] Yeah.
[1:45] She doesn't look happy.
[1:46] Mean.
[1:47] Yeah.
[1:48] There was a thing going around years, like, I would say a decade ago, when Posh Spice Victoria Beckham didn't smile.
[1:54] And then everyone was like, it's because she was trying to avoid wrinkles.
[1:57] Yeah.
[1:58] I wonder what that real reason actually was.
[2:00] Was it that?
[2:00] Was it teeth?
[2:01] I think it was teeth.
[2:02] Was it to, like, her character?
[2:03] Did she have to remain on brand?
[2:05] Yeah, I don't know.
[2:06] I have to deep dive on that.
[2:07] But I remember that was circulating.
[2:08] I remember being on the front cover of, like, OK Magazine.
[2:11] She never smiled.
[2:12] And maybe she cracked a joke that's because I don't want to get wrinkles and because she's actually quite funny.
[2:16] Yeah.
[2:17] Yeah, she is funny.
[2:17] She's got that dry sense of humour.
[2:20] She's a weapon.
[2:21] Yeah.
[2:21] But this test lady, like, babe, there's anti-wrinkles and other things you can do.
[2:27] I know.
[2:27] That can get rid of those expression lines from smiling.
[2:30] I know.
[2:31] It's so funny.
[2:32] But hey, it got me thinking, like, what have you done, Jess, avoided doing for vanity reasons?
[2:38] So as a child, I don't do it now, probably should, but as a child I used to cross my legs and my mum and my grandmother would say, don't cross your legs, you'll get varicose veins.
[2:49] And they've got them.
[2:50] They've got varicose veins in their back.
[2:51] I'm doing it now.
[2:52] Yeah.
[2:53] And my vascular surgeon said, don't do it.
[2:55] Oh, so I'm going to uncross the legs.
[2:56] my legs now because I just thought it was like a myth, but I did it.
[3:00] So intentionally at school, I never crossed my legs.
[3:03] So sitting on the chair, I wouldn't cross my legs or sitting down on the mat, I wouldn't cross my legs.
[3:09] So I have a, well, you know how I sit, I squat.
[3:12] Yeah.
[3:13] Like you're doing a poo.
[3:13] Yeah.
[3:15] I've been squatting pose because that was kind of like my thing and it was because of that.
[3:19] Oh, that's funny.
[3:20] And then now, only now is like when you're lying on the bed on your tummy and you're on your phone,
[3:26] or reading a book, which I'm never doing, and you're leaning on your elbows, which are called your weenus.
[3:32] Your weenus.
[3:32] Your weenus.
[3:34] Your little weenus.
[3:35] I don't like doing that anymore because I'm stretching the skin.
[3:38] And your weenus is going to be saggy.
[3:42] And I think it's like when I see people with their arms down and then they... Do you judge people's saggy weenuses?
[3:48] Do you?
[3:49] Maybe.
[3:52] Oh, great.
[3:52] Now I've got another complex.
[3:53] Now I'm going to be watching my weenuses.
[3:56] I think my weenuses have little hairs, little black hairs.
[3:59] Oh, I'm good.
[4:02] No, your weenuses actually, you got cute weenuses.
[4:04] Oh, yeah.
[4:04] They're a bit hairy.
[4:06] No.
[4:06] I can't say it from here.
[4:07] You got a hairy weenus.
[4:09] Oh, my God.
[4:10] Okay, so long distance running.
[4:13] Like, I mean, look, let's be honest.
[4:16] I'm probably never going to be a marathon runner, but this is a really good excuse.
[4:19] Like long distance running, you get runner's face.
[4:21] Like the gravity pulls on your face.
[4:22] A lot of people I know who do lots of long distance running, it can, based on your lifestyle and your genes and stuff, age you a bit and you can get like looser skin, especially around your jaw from all the pounding of the pavement.
[4:36] Yeah.
[4:36] right?
[4:37] Even when I was young, and this is a good thing, I'd always avoid sun on my face because I didn't want wrinkles.
[4:41] It turns out, hey, I don't have skin cancer on my face as well, which is great.
[4:45] And no wrinkles.
[4:45] But also a new one, the right side of my jaw and cheeks are stronger and a different shape to the left because I always eat on the right hand side of my face.
[4:54] So now I've banned myself from eating on my right hand side of my face and I eat on my left to try and even it up.
[4:59] Oh my God, stop.
[5:00] Yes, a makeup artist when I was living in Thailand actually said this to me.
[5:04] He said he eats on both sides evenly so that his face is more symmetrical.
[5:09] So when you think if you're just chewing on one side, you build up those chewing muscles that are bigger.
[5:16] And my right side is bigger and lower than my left side.
[5:20] My left side is my good side.
[5:21] I'm just trying to even my face up a bit.
[5:23] Do you know what's funny?
[5:23] She said that one of our girlfriends, she eats like 100 pieces of chewy a week.
[5:29] And I'm like, why do you eat so much chewing gum?
[5:31] She's like, because I don't want to get gels and I don't want this to sag.
[5:36] So if I chew chewing gum constantly and swap the sides of the chewing gum, then it's constantly going to like give me a refined and tight.
[5:43] Oh, you said a thing.
[5:44] all right, I'm going to do that.
[5:44] No, and I literally, and I have been thinking about doing it.
[5:47] Every time I go to Coles, I'm like, just forget to buy.
[5:49] Chewy's.
[5:49] The chewy gum, because it's just never on my list.
[5:51] So yeah, chewy gum.
[5:51] There you go.
[5:52] Yeah.
[5:52] And both sides.
[5:53] Both sides.
[5:54] Okay, I'm going to do that.
[5:55] You go, look at us fame bitches.
[5:56] You take the cake.
[5:57] You win the gold medal from Vanity.
[6:00] Imagine if we put that and that together.
[6:02] Like, fuck.
[6:03] We ain't been doing, we're not doing much.
[6:06] Yeah.
[6:14] Jess, massive guest on today.
[6:16] We've been trying to get her for so long.
[6:18] I know.
[6:18] She's one of the OG beauty queens.
[6:21] She is.
[6:21] Yeah.
[6:22] Very, very high profile.
[6:23] And stunning.
[6:24] Absolutely stunning.
[6:27] We are so happy to have her on and to talk all about
[6:30] her beauty, her wellness, her honey, which is called Honey for Life.
[6:35] It's Jacinta Franklin.
[6:36] Now, if you've been living under a rock and you don't know who Jacinta is, she is a celebrated model.
[6:41] She's a former Miss Universe Australia.
[6:43] She has awesome taste.
[6:46] Taste.
[6:46] Her house.
[6:47] I was going to say her house.
[6:50] Well, she sold that.
[6:50] And now she lives on a farm.
[6:52] She lives on a farm now.
[6:53] And we can ask her all about it.
[6:54] But she had, I remember at the time, she bought this house and I think I followed that house.
[6:59] This house is so cool.
[7:00] It had like its own account.
[7:01] Yes.
[7:02] It's amazing arches and concrete and beautiful.
[7:04] And it was one of the most clicked on houses in Australian history.
[7:10] So she's got great taste, this chick.
[7:12] Yep.
[7:12] I remember looking at her couch in one of her Instagram stories and I went and bought that couch.
[7:18] Influence.
[7:19] I was influenced.
[7:20] She is an OG influencer.
[7:21] She comes back from, you know, way back before influencers even had a title, really.
[7:26] Yeah.
[7:27] She's got heaps of experience in fashion and wellness.
[7:30] She was the face of David Jones for a very long time.
[7:32] She's just had a baby.
[7:33] She's got three kids.
[7:35] And I am always seeing her banging body on her Pilates reformer online as well.
[7:41] So we are so happy to have her on today.
[7:45] Welcome to Vanish, Jacinta Franklin.
[7:48] Well, thank you.
[7:49] I feel like this is like a longer way to date.
[7:51] Thank you so much for having me.
[7:53] And you've done a lot this year already.
[7:55] Had a baby.
[7:57] Congratulations.
[7:58] Had a baby.
[7:59] Yes.
[7:59] So I think you probably should have put that in your like intro that a very tired Jacinta Franklin is joining us today.
[8:06] But you look great.
[8:07] Bam did not sleep last night.
[8:09] I was like always the way.
[8:10] He's been the best sleeper since the day we brought him home from hospital.
[8:13] Like absolutely amazing.
[8:15] Like finally got a unicorn baby on the third try.
[8:17] Yeah.
[8:18] And, of course, last night he was up six times.
[8:21] My nipples are literally about to fall.
[8:24] We've all been there.
[8:25] But you know what?
[8:26] It doesn't end like your baby was up all night because you had something big to do today.
[8:34] Yeah, yeah.
[8:35] Same thing happened last week.
[8:37] I had to get up at like 5am in the morning.
[8:40] So then one of my kids pissed the bed and then jumped into mine at I think 1am after I'd only just fallen asleep anyway.
[8:48] I had to have a sleeping tablet.
[8:49] And then I was up from, I think I had like an hour's sleep and an interstate trip.
[8:53] Of all the nights, of course you have to do it before I had a really big shoot day.
[8:57] Yeah, yeah.
[8:58] Your kids do that to you as well?
[8:59] All the time.
[9:00] I've been up all night with a 14-year-old.
[9:01] So she's got insomnia like me.
[9:03] It's always before a shoot.
[9:05] At least you guys can be up together.
[9:07] I know.
[9:07] Yeah.
[9:08] You know what?
[9:08] We are three together.
[9:10] We're all like the mum no sleep club.
[9:12] Yeah.
[9:12] Yeah.
[9:12] I think we thrive.
[9:13] Yeah.
[9:14] Whether they're 14 weeks or 14 years old.
[9:16] Yeah, yeah.
[9:17] They'll find a way to ruin your day.
[9:18] They will.
[9:19] They will.
[9:20] It's all right.
[9:22] Hey, talk to us.
[9:23] Very exciting about Honey for Life.
[9:26] Yeah.
[9:26] Yeah, so Bud and I are co-owners of a honey company now, which is the pivot I think no one saw coming.
[9:33] Yeah.
[9:35] Especially for Bud after footy.
[9:36] But no, as you know, we relocated to Queensland after he retired.
[9:40] And yeah, we're just kind of...
[9:43] like really settled into a different way of life up here, just like a much slower paced life.
[9:47] And we started just spending so much more time outdoors and riding horses and, you know, obviously bought what we thought was our dream home on the Gold Coast.
[9:57] It was so beautiful.
[9:59] It was our dream home.
[10:00] It was our dream home.
[10:01] We all wanted that house.
[10:02] We all wanted it.
[10:03] We all wanted it.
[10:05] Honestly, it was such a dream to live in, but we were riding horses and having to drive like 25 minutes to drive horses and, sorry, to ride horses.
[10:14] This is my postpartum brain.
[10:15] I'm probably going to be apologising the whole way through this because...
[10:19] I've still got baby brain.
[10:20] But yeah, driving to like ride the horses and then the kids were just spending so much more time outdoors.
[10:26] And we're like, right, we need a hobby farm.
[10:28] Like, you know, life isn't chaotic enough as it is.
[10:31] Let's just add more chaos.
[10:33] So we spent about two years searching for our property.
[10:36] And yeah, and then it was kind of just felt like a natural progression to, yeah, to go into co-ownership.
[10:43] So it's a very different role, but yeah, we're really liking it.
[10:46] It's really fun.
[10:47] So good.
[10:47] And then throw some three kids in there while you're at it.
[10:50] A new baby, a new home, a hobby farm.
[10:53] All the things.
[10:55] Chaos.
[10:55] I love hearing about when other people's lives are as chaotic as mine.
[10:58] It makes me feel normal.
[10:59] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[11:01] Oh, my God.
[11:01] It's just crazy.
[11:03] It's madness.
[11:04] Why honey?
[11:05] Yeah, why honey?
[11:06] Well, I think for us, it's like health and wellness is really, really important to Bud and I.
[11:11] It's something that was just naturally a part of our lives, obviously, with Bud playing sport and with me, you know, being in the industry.
[11:17] It's kind of, you know, your body and your face is your business.
[11:21] So, yeah, have to look after ourselves.
[11:24] we've kind of had the opportunity to do a lot of things over the years and it never really felt quite right for us, you know, whether it was from like fashion or, you know, supplements.
[11:35] It was like, oh, we just can't really find where it feels authentic for us to fit in.
[11:39] And then when the honey stuff came up, we'd done like a beekeeping course.
[11:43] Once again, the pivot.
[11:44] No one saw that.
[11:46] That is so good.
[11:47] That is so good.
[11:48] It's very Megan Marple.
[11:51] I love it.
[11:51] Yeah.
[11:54] It is.
[11:54] I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
[11:56] But yes, butt in a bee suit is still hot.
[11:59] I'm like, how is this possible?
[12:01] I love that.
[12:01] You just look still hot in a beekeeping suit.
[12:04] And just like once you start to do some research and realize like that the health benefits around honey and not only just, you know, for your health and your wellness, but also the beauty side as well.
[12:16] I was like, wow, I really feel like we're onto something here.
[12:19] I'm like,
[12:19] It's a very interesting product.
[12:21] I feel like we're literally jumping on the wave.
[12:24] You know, you're about to see honey in so many beauty products, so many supplements.
[12:28] It really is becoming such a big industry, bigger than what it is.
[12:32] And the growth and the expansion that's kind of projected for it is, you know, is crazy.
[12:38] Yeah, it just feels really exciting.
[12:40] So good.
[12:41] Different but fun.
[12:42] Yeah.
[12:43] I remember when you were teasing it on your socials and there was something coming and I thought, oh, I wonder what it is.
[12:50] And then when it was honey, it was like, okay, I did not see that coming at all, but I am so here for it.
[12:57] It was a great launch campaign.
[13:00] It was.
[13:01] I had honey.
[13:01] Oh, thank you so much.
[13:02] Yeah, I had so many different things.
[13:04] One's opening a hotel, you know, are you doing a clothing range?
[13:08] I think the hotel one was probably the most left of Phil, but I was like, oh, that would actually be really cool.
[13:13] Are you doing a wellness retreat?
[13:14] Are you opening a zoo?
[13:15] Sorry, no, we had that as well.
[13:16] Are you opening a zoo, like a wildlife park?
[13:18] I was like, mate, the zoo's in my home.
[13:21] Like, let's just, you know, I don't need any more animals around.
[13:25] So, yeah, but no, it's really fun and we're enjoying it so far.
[13:29] So, yeah.
[13:29] So cool.
[13:30] Honestly, I've always wanted to have a farm.
[13:32] Yeah, you kind of do have a farm.
[13:34] I do have a farm.
[13:35] I mean, I usually go out and buy random animals all the time.
[13:37] Yeah.
[13:38] Jess, like, doesn't pay her parking fines, but she'll go to Coles and come somehow find a llama and come home with that.
[13:46] Yeah, yeah.
[13:47] Never get me at a pet shop when I'm hungover.
[13:49] Yes.
[13:50] I come home with rabbits, chickens.
[13:52] Hermit crabs.
[13:53] Hermit crabs, fish.
[13:55] You name it.
[13:55] I love it.
[13:56] We nearly bought turtles that time.
[13:57] Yes.
[13:58] We got talked out of that.
[13:59] I know.
[13:59] It was weird.
[14:00] We went into this aquarium looking for turtles.
[14:02] We're like, where are the turtles?
[14:04] And the guy came over to us.
[14:05] He goes, not for you two.
[14:07] And we're like, what?
[14:07] I've got a pond at home.
[14:09] What do you mean I can't know?
[14:11] You've already said no and you don't know my setup.
[14:14] And he was like, not for you two.
[14:16] No way.
[14:16] It was like they were not selling us turtles.
[14:18] I know, but we walked out with fish tanks.
[14:20] And hermit crabs.
[14:22] I'm going to be like,
[14:23] I love that.
[14:23] You honestly would fit in so well with us.
[14:26] We are just like, we just adopt anything and everyone at anything at our place, we're like, sure, let's do it.
[14:32] So yeah, it's fun though.
[14:34] I guess if I buy my llama and I, you know, don't want anymore, I'll just drop it to your house.
[14:38] Absolutely.
[14:39] Thanks.
[14:40] We'll adjust it for you.
[14:41] I love it.
[14:42] I love it.
[14:43] So let's talk about our vanished moments.
[14:46] So what is your typical day in your beauty and wellness look like these days?
[14:50] you know what, it's so different now having a baby to what it was, say, prior to having Bam.
[14:57] I feel like you give up so much of yourself when you have a baby.
[15:01] And, you know, it's kind of this cruel thing.
[15:04] I felt like I was just getting back to myself, you know, before fall accidentally, falling pregnant again.
[15:09] You know, Lulu was five, Rocky was four.
[15:13] really felt like I was myself again.
[15:16] And yeah, I was just feeling really good.
[15:18] I was fit.
[15:19] I was healthy.
[15:20] I was like, I had time in the morning to do all of the things.
[15:24] And now that I've got a baby, I'm like, I'm really lucky just to get a hot flannel and like wash it over my face.
[15:31] It's like so...
[15:32] It feels so cruel.
[15:33] You're like, oh my gosh, I'm back here again.
[15:36] But no, I mean, skin is really, really important to me.
[15:39] So that's what I really focus on.
[15:41] I have a really simple skincare routine because sometimes I think the more you do, the worse it is.
[15:47] And that's just my personal experience.
[15:49] I know everyone's skin is different.
[15:51] But for me, you know, a cleanser, I don't tone.
[15:54] I have never, ever toned.
[15:56] I only exfoliate maybe like once a week or once every two weeks.
[16:00] I don't know.
[16:01] And yeah, just a really good hydrating moisturizer at night, a mask if I can be effed.
[16:07] Like literally, I'm like less is like less is more.
[16:10] But yeah, just keep it really like really simple.
[16:13] And I'm not doing as much now.
[16:15] But yeah, I just think for my skin and obviously as well, like what you put into your like your body is so important.
[16:22] That's what I've realized.
[16:23] Like you can have skin that like...
[16:25] looks good, but it's almost like the quality of your skin is really what good skin is about, if that makes sense.
[16:32] Like it's almost deeper than what's on the surface.
[16:35] So like for me, like I absolutely smash bone broth.
[16:38] Like bone broth for me is like the absolute number one beauty supplement you can consume because it's just so full of naturally full of like collagen and good fats.
[16:49] We're all writing it down right now.
[16:51] We're all writing it down.
[16:52] And you know what,
[16:53] We've had gastroenterologists on and naturopaths here and they all say that you can do anything to your skin, but if you've got poor gut health, it will not reach its full potential.
[17:04] So it is so in line with what you're saying.
[17:07] Yeah.
[17:07] The number one thing you can do for your skin is to start with a great gut lining and microbiome.
[17:13] That's like the inner health stuff, right?
[17:15] And I remember Bud was injured once.
[17:17] He was getting like a lot of like soft tissue stuff and his sore knees.
[17:20] And I said, we had this bone broth larder in Sydney and they literally served bone broth in like takeaway coffee cups.
[17:27] So instead of getting like a morning coffee, you'd drive by and get a bone broth.
[17:31] And it was kind of on the way to the club.
[17:32] And I said to him, just try it.
[17:34] I know it might be a bit woo-woo.
[17:36] I know you think I'm so crazy because I'm into like all these different things.
[17:39] Yeah.
[17:40] And within a week, honestly, he noticed such a difference and his skin was glowing.
[17:46] He's like, look at my skin.
[17:47] It looks amazing.
[17:49] He was like my ultimate guinea pig.
[17:51] So it definitely does work, but it can't be the powdered stuff.
[17:55] I find like the powdered stuff doesn't really work and even the concentrate that you can get, say from like Coles or Woolies, I really feel like it's the true sauce.
[18:05] Like when you make it out of like, I don't know, a chicken or...
[18:08] or whatever, like a whole chook.
[18:10] So do you actually make it?
[18:11] Do you make your own bone broth or do you buy it?
[18:13] Absolutely not.
[18:14] No.
[18:15] I used to make it, but now I just buy it online or you can buy it from like a health food store like pre-made and it's really gelatinous as well and that's how you know that it's the really good quality stuff because you should be able to put a spoon in it when it's cold and the spoon kind of sits in it.
[18:30] It's like a jelly.
[18:31] Yeah.
[18:31] And that means that it has all the collagen in it that you need.
[18:34] So the more gelatinous it is, the better it is for you.
[18:38] you can recommend for us?
[18:40] Yeah, so there's a really good one.
[18:42] My favourite pre-made bone broth would be Made for Mothers.
[18:46] So she is a postpartum, she kind of specialises in that postpartum area.
[18:52] And yeah, she makes the bone broths and she sells them online.
[18:55] And then yeah, bone broth larder, they just literally come in maybe like two litres or three litre jars.
[19:02] And as soon as the weather starts to cool down,
[19:05] The kids have that every single night with dinner.
[19:08] And if you get the good one, it should taste like chicken soup, like that real, you know, like two-minute noodles.
[19:15] You know that like flavouring you get with it?
[19:17] That's what my kids have a single night.
[19:21] But that's how it should taste because some don't taste like that and then they won't drink it.
[19:26] But this one, it tastes like chicken noodle soup.
[19:28] And the kids smash it and honestly, it helps so much.
[19:31] Okay.
[19:31] Okay.
[19:31] Because that's the thing.
[19:32] That's what you need to do.
[19:33] Yeah.
[19:33] And it doesn't have the MSG.
[19:34] Yes.
[19:35] You know who else swears by it?
[19:36] Who?
[19:37] Is Rosalia Russian.
[19:38] She has a bone broth every day.
[19:39] She's been making Lana Drinkhead as well on their pod.
[19:42] Yeah.
[19:42] Oh, God, that is so funny.
[19:43] So do you have it morning and night?
[19:46] No.
[19:46] I would probably just have it like one or the other.
[19:48] Like straight up in the morning on an empty stomach is really good because it is so good for your gut health.
[19:53] But, yeah, one or the other.
[19:55] Because it is quite expensive too if you get the proper jars of it.
[19:59] It's not just like a concentrate.
[20:00] Yeah.
[20:01] Yeah, it's literally liquid gold.
[20:03] It is absolutely amazing.
[20:05] It's the one thing I can definitely say, like if you do this, you feel and see a difference.
[20:11] Sometimes it's like, am I seeing a difference?
[20:13] Am I feeling a difference?
[20:14] But this is like definitively like, yes, I'm feeling and noticing a difference.
[20:19] Oh, okay.
[20:20] That's a good sell.
[20:21] That's a bloody good sell.
[20:23] All right, I'm getting some on the way home.
[20:25] I'm going to go to one of those little bougie grocers, you know, that sell all the fancy stuff.
[20:29] I reckon they'd have good, legit bone broth.
[20:32] Yeah, the gelatinous stuff.
[20:34] I love that that's kind of Bud's beauty tip as well is the bone broth.
[20:38] I'm going to get Juddy onto that.
[20:40] If Buddy did it, Juddy will do it.
[20:45] I love it.
[20:46] All right, Jacinta, tell us about your wellness regime, like exercise, spirituality, because I know you do a lot of Pilates.
[20:55] What else?
[20:56] Yeah, so at the moment, not a lot.
[20:58] I've just started to get back into Pilates, obviously, after giving birth.
[21:02] But what I really miss is the hot Pilates as well.
[21:05] So pre-having BAM, I was literally doing hot Pilates first.
[21:09] three times a week.
[21:10] And then I was doing my reformer at home, you know, kind of in between when I couldn't get to those sessions.
[21:17] And I absolutely loved it.
[21:19] Like there is just something about working out in heat that makes you feel so good.
[21:24] And another thing, I do think it makes your skin look amazing as well.
[21:28] Mm-hmm.
[21:28] So because I'm unable to go and do that at the moment, I've just got my reformer at home and I've bought a portable sauna because I'm finding it so hard to leave the house, like with a newborn, two kids and work.
[21:39] So I'm trying to do everything at home.
[21:41] We loved our traditional infrared sauna that we had at the old place, but because we're starting to renovate, we have nowhere to actually set one up at the moment.
[21:49] So I bought this portable one
[21:51] And you literally like you can set it up anywhere in your bedroom, on the kitchen floor, in the lounge room.
[21:57] And it's like a dome and you lay in it and it is so amazing.
[22:01] I just think there is something with infrared light therapy and heat therapy that just makes you feel so...
[22:07] good and it makes sure it honestly is one of those things that makes your skin look better as well.
[22:12] I don't know if it's the detoxification process or whatever happens in that.
[22:16] But for me, it's just like the winning combo.
[22:18] I think if you can move your body and get some heat therapy in, it's just like an absolute game changer.
[22:23] I don't know how you do hot Pilates in Queensland.
[22:27] I did it one time in Moosa and I nearly died.
[22:29] And I've done it in Melbourne and I'm like, it's fine and it's good.
[22:33] But there...
[22:34] I don't know how you do it.
[22:36] That is intense.
[22:38] It's so intense.
[22:39] Yeah.
[22:39] But I loved it.
[22:40] It was so good.
[22:42] Like I just, yeah, I love that combo.
[22:44] I don't know.
[22:45] You kind of feel like you're doing so much more than what you're doing as well, if that makes sense.
[22:49] Like to get that kind of sweat anywhere else, it's like you would have to be, you know, like my husband running marathons and that is just not for me.
[22:57] So yeah, I've slowly started to get
[23:00] back into it.
[23:00] But I really love my fitness.
[23:03] And yeah, it's been the biggest thing I couldn't really work out.
[23:07] During my pregnancy, I had a lot of issues with these big varicose veins in the back of my legs.
[23:14] Thanks to my husband, I carry very large baby boys.
[23:17] So off the back of carrying Rocky.
[23:20] And then bam.
[23:21] Yeah.
[23:22] And it made it so painful to work out.
[23:24] And I think as well, at the moment, I'm just feeling so not myself.
[23:29] So I'm so looking forward to just getting back into health and fitness again.
[23:34] So hopefully with the portable sauna and my Pilates at home, like that's, yeah, that's my thing.
[23:39] And then when it comes to, you know, spirituality, I think that's where when I'm in the sauna, I love to like put a great podcast on or it's going to sound so woo-woo.
[23:48] Like I listen to...
[23:49] Native American flutes.
[23:51] Like it's so relaxing.
[23:55] Literally, you know, that meme going around on Instagram at the moment, it's like the Barbie and she might be like doing her skincare and like the whole world is like blowing up behind her.
[24:04] And it's like the world's blowing up, but like the, like you're doing your skincare.
[24:07] That's me in my sauna.
[24:08] Like the kids are like, there's a footy going over my head and I'm just in my sauna, like laying down, listening to my Native American Indian flutes.
[24:15] And
[24:16] Oh, my God.
[24:17] I love it.
[24:18] Oh, that is so good.
[24:19] You've got chaos at home.
[24:21] There's chaos happening in the world as well.
[24:23] And you're just like chilling out for your like zen time.
[24:26] Yeah.
[24:27] I do the same.
[24:27] Jess and I both have saunas.
[24:29] I'm obsessed with my sauna.
[24:30] I'm in five days a week.
[24:32] Yeah.
[24:32] But do you know what I've done?
[24:33] I've got a really bad habit.
[24:34] Yeah.
[24:34] I should be more like you and just zen out, but I've been taking my phone in and working.
[24:40] And I do.
[24:41] So I get, because there's no distractions in there because the door's closed and the kids can't get to me.
[24:46] I'm actually super efficient doing all of my life admin in there.
[24:50] And I know it's not really, it's meant to be a zen place, not a workplace.
[24:54] But for me, it's become like the best little office.
[24:57] I'm doing a full dance routine.
[24:58] I know.
[24:59] Yeah, you do.
[25:00] You dance in yours.
[25:00] I do full dance.
[25:01] I have like a full rave in there and like music blaring and I'm jumping up and down like, yeah, I'm not zen at all.
[25:08] Yeah.
[25:09] That's so cool.
[25:09] I've got a friend.
[25:10] I mean, unfortunately, I can't do that in the portable one.
[25:12] I think if I get a bigger one, you might be onto something.
[25:15] You're having a rave.
[25:16] Yeah.
[25:17] I've got a friend who takes all his weights in there and does like his full weights workout in his sauna.
[25:22] Yeah, at like 65, 70 degrees.
[25:24] Yeah, I've done that before.
[25:25] Do you need to build?
[25:26] You need to build a… I'm like, you are sick in the head.
[25:29] You need to build a really big sauna and then when you do renovation and put your reformer in there.
[25:35] Your own hot Pilates too.
[25:36] Yeah, we've got a whole wellness space carved out.
[25:39] So we'll have like the ice bath, the sauna.
[25:42] Yeah, that was like a big thing for us.
[25:44] I was like, I will literally give up.
[25:46] an office to have a wellness space.
[25:50] It's just so important.
[25:51] It's so good.
[25:51] Especially when you've got kids, you can't always get out and get to a class or whatever.
[25:56] It's so hard.
[25:57] But if you can get up and even if you're in your jammies and, I don't know, do like something called the Reformer or whatever,
[26:03] some weights or whatever it is.
[26:04] It's so good.
[26:05] Oh, yeah.
[26:06] Sometimes if I've got 10 minutes, I will literally chuck my sneakers on and I'll go in my pajamas and run on the treadmill or I'll just have like my undies on and a bra, not even like a jagged sports.
[26:18] I'm surprised because sometimes she'd be naked.
[26:20] No, but then my boobs like, whatever they wobble.
[26:23] So I'd have like any kind of bra, undies, and I'm like, yeah, running in my undies on the treadie.
[26:29] Oh, my God.
[26:30] I'm doing karaoke on the treadmill.
[26:33] You are because you're practicing for your concert.
[26:35] Like she's literally on her tready with a microphone.
[26:39] You are such a vibe.
[26:41] I've got ADHD.
[26:42] I cannot sit still.
[26:44] So when I go, I hate exercising.
[26:45] I find it quite boring.
[26:47] So I've got to go, what do I like doing?
[26:48] I like singing and dancing.
[26:49] So the only way I can get on a treadmill and walk or run is by singing.
[26:54] Making a concert as you're doing it.
[26:55] I do like a full routine.
[26:57] I love that.
[26:59] I hate running in public.
[27:01] Yeah.
[27:01] Because I'm like a baby giraffe in here.
[27:03] It's like I'm so – I haven't got the best running style.
[27:06] And I don't want to – where I'd run around my house would be like along the beach.
[27:10] It's like a busy road.
[27:11] Everyone's looking, judging.
[27:13] Even if they weren't, you'd feel like, oh, my God, everyone's looking at me running.
[27:18] I – You feel weird.
[27:19] Even going down to a park.
[27:20] Yeah, I just feel weird.
[27:21] So – Yeah, I hate walking by myself.
[27:22] I feel like people are staring and judging me like –
[27:25] So I'm like, I need to take a dog or a child.
[27:27] To do something.
[27:28] To do something there for a walk.
[27:30] You know what's crazy?
[27:31] We always think, like, that's the thing.
[27:33] I'm the same with running.
[27:34] Like, I do not want to run.
[27:36] But then no one's actually looking at you.
[27:38] It's this weird thing that we have, don't you think?
[27:40] Everyone else is worried about everyone looking at them and no one is looking at you.
[27:44] Yeah, yeah.
[27:44] I'm always looking at my butt and it's like this flat pancake going...
[27:48] it's not like I've seen your butt online well online on my Instagram not like Cornhub only fast we're not revealing anything today you've got a great butt oh thanks so do you so do you so do you yes you really do I love it oh so good na na na na
[28:16] Is there an affordable beauty product you swear by?
[28:19] Our listeners love this question.
[28:23] Okay.
[28:23] So my affordable beauty advice is Amazon.
[28:29] Now, hear me out, right?
[28:31] So before I had the baby, I was on set shooting actually the Honey for Life campaign.
[28:36] And the makeup artist was using this serum on me.
[28:38] And I was like, what is this?
[28:40] My skin looks amazing.
[28:41] And she was like, it's this Japanese serum.
[28:44] And a makeup artist was using it at a wedding that I was assisting on.
[28:48] And she said, it's like her number one product.
[28:50] It's so cheap.
[28:51] And you can just get it on Amazon.
[28:53] So I started doing a bit of research.
[28:55] And then I found so many amazing Japanese brands that were stocked
[29:00] And they're really, really well-priced and really good products.
[29:04] Like, you know those products that just work?
[29:07] Like, they're not maybe well-known.
[29:09] They're not really cult products, but like a good rice cleanser.
[29:13] Like, I think like anything for me, like with, like, I don't know what it is with cleansers, but if it's got like rice in it or a rice wash, just gives you that really good, like, squeaky, clean feel, which I love after cleansing.
[29:25] Mm.
[29:26] So yeah, I think Amazon has some really good things.
[29:29] Read the reviews, obviously, because you don't want to like burn your face off or something random you bought on Amazon.
[29:36] But yeah, the Japanese products on there are so good.
[29:39] I think there's so much hype around Korean beauty products.
[29:42] But for me, I actually think like Japanese products are like so much better.
[29:47] They're so great.
[29:49] Okay, so Japanese products.
[29:50] I'm going to go on a deep dive and chat GPT on.
[29:52] Yeah, it's a yellow, it's a bright yellow serum.
[29:56] I don't even know what it's called because it's all in Japanese.
[29:59] It's not even like English translated.
[30:01] It's like literally all the caricatures.
[30:04] Like it's just, it's not, I don't know what's in it.
[30:07] For all I know, it could be whale sperm.
[30:08] Yeah.
[30:09] I do not know what it is that I'm putting in my face.
[30:11] I love it.
[30:12] Can you send us a photo of it?
[30:14] Yes.
[30:15] Yeah.
[30:15] I'll send you a photo of both of them.
[30:16] Yeah.
[30:17] It's bright yellow and it doesn't look like aesthetically pleasing.
[30:20] Like I said, it's not one of those ones that you have on your bathroom shelf and you're like, oh, this is the really cool, you know, new road product or whatever it is, but it just works.
[30:29] Yeah.
[30:30] And the rice cleanser is so good.
[30:32] Like it's just so foamy and it just, yeah, it gives you that real good squeaky clean feel.
[30:36] Yeah.
[30:37] So good.
[30:37] I get my pre-glued stick-on false lashes from Amazon and they're $12 for a packet and it's a big, big, big packet with application tweezers and they're the perfect length and I put one or two on the ends.
[30:54] It's like $12 or $13.
[30:55] Is that what we bought in Korea?
[30:57] Yes, but the packet is like three times as big so you get three times as many for like $12 or $13.
[31:02] Oh, God.
[31:03] And they are so good.
[31:04] You stick them under your lashes, not on top, and you just kind of press them on at the roots, and they're a game changer.
[31:11] Like, anyone can do it.
[31:15] Even if you go, oh, I've tried lashes in the past and I'm really bad at doing makeup.
[31:18] Trust me, anyone can do these.
[31:21] They're a game changer.
[31:22] Bad at doing lashes.
[31:23] It's amazing because it's usually the glue with those things, right?
[31:26] Like I just get the glue everywhere and then I've got an eyelash stuck to my forehead and like ones on my nose and you just can't get it right.
[31:32] So yeah, that's interesting.
[31:33] And that glue smells like sperm and we don't like it.
[31:36] Smells like cum.
[31:37] So gross.
[31:39] It does.
[31:39] It's disgusting.
[31:40] Well, these ones are pre-glued.
[31:41] And it's so funny because Becca and I, because I can't do my lashes.
[31:44] I can do my makeup, but lashes is not a thing.
[31:46] So I'm like, babe, can I come over and can you do my lashes for me?
[31:49] She's like, yeah, come over.
[31:50] She'll have the glue.
[31:51] And we all sit there like giggling because she's like, smell this.
[31:55] What does it smell like?
[31:56] We're just pissing ourselves laughing.
[31:58] Like so immature.
[31:59] Oh, I know.
[32:00] We're like children.
[32:01] Anytime I see duo glue, I'm like, come.
[32:03] Come back.
[32:05] Oh, my God.
[32:07] I did not expect the conversation to go.
[32:09] Smell this glue.
[32:10] Smell this glue.
[32:10] And he's like, oh.
[32:13] Well, I can tell you these Amazon ones, no cum smell.
[32:16] No, yeah, no sperm smell.
[32:17] Here we go.
[32:19] Beautiful eyelashes without the cum scent.
[32:21] Beautiful.
[32:22] Just what we want.
[32:23] We love it.
[32:23] We love it.
[32:25] So looking back, is there any beauty trends or treatments you've tried that you totally regret?
[32:30] Do you have any horror stories?
[32:31] Yes.
[32:33] Like no horror stories, but I have not faked hand in probably eight years.
[32:39] Really?
[32:40] What?
[32:41] Yes, I know.
[32:42] It's one thing I just...
[32:45] can't ever get right or it just doesn't feel like right on me.
[32:49] Like that's me personally.
[32:51] But I would get it done for like a, I only ever did it for like the David Jones shows when I was in swimwear.
[32:58] But I just feel like once again, like I can't put fake lashes on myself.
[33:01] I can't like self-tan.
[33:03] I'm so terrible at that kind of stuff.
[33:05] But yeah, fake tan is probably the one thing, yeah, I haven't done in eight years.
[33:09] And it's not that it's a disastrous thing or something that like I don't like the look of.
[33:12] It's just something that I probably wouldn't, yeah, I probably wouldn't do again.
[33:16] I just, yeah.
[33:17] But in saying that, I am quite olive too.
[33:19] So if I go out in the sun, like I literally step outside, you know, I go a shade darker.
[33:25] Yeah, it's probably just something I won't.
[33:27] I won't do.
[33:27] I'm like, you'd always have white sheets and you'd always smell beautiful because tans do.
[33:33] That's really interesting because I know like you do go very golden.
[33:37] What's your background?
[33:38] Just Irish and Scottish.
[33:40] Irish and Scottish.
[33:42] Oh, yeah.
[33:42] I think someone's jumped the fence at some stage.
[33:45] I'm Irish and Scottish.
[33:47] I'm all Irish and Scottish.
[33:48] I came out of the wrong uterus.
[33:49] I keep saying that.
[33:51] I'm so fair.
[33:51] I rely on spray tan heavily.
[33:54] Heavily.
[33:56] Oh, my gosh.
[33:56] But it's like even when you look at like photos of me when I was like a little girl, same age as Tallulah, Tallulah obviously has like Tallulah has the most beautiful skin.
[34:05] Like she has Bud's exact skin colour.
[34:08] They both go so beautiful and brown.
[34:10] Yeah.
[34:11] And I was the exact same colour as her when I was like little, like out in the sunshine.
[34:16] So someone has definitely jumped the fence at some stage.
[34:19] I need to do like an ancestry.com because Scottish and Irish is just, yeah, the Campbells and then honks.
[34:26] Nice.
[34:26] Yeah, I do not know where it comes from.
[34:29] Amazing.
[34:30] That is so fun.
[34:30] Campbell's and hogs.
[34:32] Yeah, you don't get much more.
[34:33] More Irish than that.
[34:34] White skinned than that.
[34:35] Yeah, yeah, literally.
[34:36] You are so lucky to go golden.
[34:38] Irish and Scottish.
[34:39] Yeah, so good.
[34:41] Okay, is there a treatment or procedure that you would like to try in the future that you haven't tried yet?
[34:47] I'm like kind of in like my breastfeeding phase at the moment where I'm like, I can't do this, I can't do that.
[34:52] So everything I want to do is probably so far away for me.
[34:56] Like I breastfeed for like a good like, you know, one to two years.
[35:00] So I'm like, I feel like everything I've wanted to do, I've just put to the back of my mind.
[35:04] But what I did want to do after both my kids was,
[35:08] And this is probably something like in hindsight was so silly.
[35:12] I really wanted to have like a breast lift done because after breastfeeding, I was like, I had one up here.
[35:17] I had one down by my knee.
[35:19] Like one was north, one was south.
[35:20] Like literally they were all over the place.
[35:22] And it was something after both the kids, like I really, really wanted to do.
[35:26] So I went and had it done.
[35:28] And I remember sitting with the surgeon and he was like, are you definitely done with having kids?
[35:32] And I was like, mate, I am done.
[35:34] Like I cannot keep up.
[35:37] I can hardly keep up as it is.
[35:39] And then six months later, I fell pregnant with Bam.
[35:42] Stop.
[35:43] So you have to get it done again?
[35:47] Yes.
[35:47] So probably that's like a procedure I really want to have done again.
[35:51] But I wasted so much time.
[35:53] I wasted so much money.
[35:55] And then, yeah, and then I fell pregnant with Bam.
[35:59] So I was like, oh, my gosh, only six months after I had that done.
[36:03] But because I'm breastfeeding at the moment, everything feels like it's like,
[36:06] one to two years away.
[36:07] So it's not something I'm trying to stew on too much because I'm like, I can't really do much.
[36:12] Even with skincare, there's so much that you can't do or use when you're breastfeeding.
[36:17] So yeah, it took me a while to think about that because I'm like, I feel like everything is just so parked now.
[36:22] Then she's got to have another surprise baby.
[36:27] Is there any more babies on the way?
[36:30] Definitely not.
[36:31] Never say never.
[36:36] breastfeeding after breast lift?
[36:40] Because you're obviously doing it and it's fine.
[36:44] Were there any issues?
[36:45] Is it harder, easier or just the same?
[36:48] I think so many people would be interested in that.
[36:51] Yeah.
[36:51] So this has probably been my most painful breastfeeding journey.
[36:56] Tallulah had an undiagnosed tongue tie and so I had to stop breastfeeding her at about four months because we didn't know and I just thought I had no...
[37:05] like milk supply.
[37:06] And then Rocky, I saw his tongue tie straight away and I breastfed him for like a good one and a half years.
[37:12] This time round, I honestly, in hindsight, should have put way more planning into it because whilst I've been able to breastfeed, it has been extremely difficult.
[37:21] painful.
[37:22] So not only are my breasts still healing, all of those nerves haven't quite joined up yet or healed.
[37:30] So my letdown is really random.
[37:32] So I can be, you know how usually, I'm not sure if both of you breastfed, but like when you breastfeed, after a couple of minutes, you get that letdown feeling, you know, okay, my milk's in and the baby's getting the milk.
[37:42] It can happen sometimes like 15 minutes into a feed.
[37:46] It can happen just randomly like sitting here.
[37:48] And I think there's just a lot of mixed messages going on from my brain to my boobs because there was so much tissue taken out.
[37:56] Like I had an extreme amount of tissue taken out when I had my procedure done.
[38:01] He was the surgeon said to me we had to take a lot out because there was just so much tissue.
[38:05] loose skin.
[38:06] So yeah, it's definitely been really tricky.
[38:09] I've had to work with a lactation consultant.
[38:11] I had to mix feed in the beginning because it was so painful.
[38:14] And yeah, it was just really irregular.
[38:17] But now it's kind of evened out and he's exclusively breastfed, but it is still extremely painful.
[38:25] Like when my letdown happens, it's like the nerves are just, they don't know what they're doing.
[38:30] And it's like,
[38:31] I'm only just now not crying when I speak.
[38:33] Oh, wow.
[38:34] Do you know what?
[38:34] Amazing.
[38:35] Like round of applause to you.
[38:37] That is insane, honestly.
[38:39] That is like...
[38:41] It's always been my insight to know if you could breastfeed after a lift because I've had a lift.
[38:46] as well.
[38:47] And that was my big thing.
[38:48] I was like, I wonder if I, cause I wanted to have more babies.
[38:51] I still do, but I won't.
[38:52] I won't let her.
[38:53] She won't let me.
[38:55] That was like the thing.
[38:56] And they're like, oh, it's like a 25% chance you might not be able to breastfeed.
[39:00] And I was like, but I love breastfeeding.
[39:02] And if I was having a baby, I want it.
[39:03] And I breastfeed for two years and one of them I did two years and nine months.
[39:07] But I love breastfeeding, but yeah, it's good to know that you still can.
[39:10] So there's still time for me to have another baby.
[39:13] Just good on you for persevering.
[39:15] For persevering and showing hate me.
[39:17] I know, I know.
[39:18] It literally is.
[39:20] Just the patience.
[39:21] And not giving up.
[39:22] Not giving up.
[39:23] And I think most women who have breastfed can understand at the start, especially when you have your first baby, how painful breastfeeding is when they latch on and you literally, it takes your breath away, right?
[39:36] You're just like, ah.
[39:38] And your eyes kind of watered.
[39:39] And for you to go through that for such a long time is, yeah, honestly very inspiring.
[39:45] Yeah.
[39:46] Pat on the back, babe.
[39:47] Yeah.
[39:47] Amazing mummy.
[39:48] I've thought about it a lot.
[39:49] I'm like, do I keep going?
[39:51] Do I keep pushing through?
[39:52] And then I think because he's my third too, like I know that this may be the last time that I do it.
[39:58] And I'm like you, Jessie.
[39:59] Yeah.
[40:00] Yeah.
[40:02] I know how this ends.
[40:03] They have a surprise twins next.
[40:05] Yeah, yeah.
[40:06] Or triplets.
[40:07] Yeah.
[40:07] And we've got twins everywhere in our family.
[40:10] Oh, God.
[40:11] My sister has twins.
[40:12] Like, my uncle has twins.
[40:13] Like, there are twins everywhere.
[40:15] My auntie has twins.
[40:15] Like, there are literally twins everywhere we look.
[40:17] So...
[40:18] That would be us.
[40:19] Baby, you bought a farm for a reason.
[40:21] Yeah, I'm just like, okay.
[40:22] Yeah, yeah.
[40:23] That's fine.
[40:25] This is the last time, hopefully.
[40:26] I've just got to push through and, yeah, hopefully it gets better.
[40:29] But I don't think it will.
[40:30] It's just my tolerance to the pain is getting better.
[40:33] Yeah, yeah.
[40:33] There you go.
[40:34] Wow.
[40:35] Man, you are...
[40:35] A machine.
[40:36] You're a weapon.
[40:37] Absolute machine.
[40:38] Weapon.
[40:39] Weapon.
[40:39] So Jacinta, how has your idea of what it means to feel beautiful evolved since your early modeling days?
[40:45] You know, you started at Miss Universe, which I guess would be completely different things.
[40:52] beauty mindset to where you are now.
[40:54] Talk to us about the journey.
[40:56] I feel like we could probably do a whole other podcast just on the Miss Universe days.
[41:01] We should.
[41:01] We should.
[41:03] I want to know.
[41:04] Jess loves this shit.
[41:06] Jess is going to enter one day.
[41:08] Yeah.
[41:09] Will they take a 35-year-old?
[41:11] Yeah, they'll be like Mrs. Mum Universe.
[41:16] I think there is, or like wife universe or mum universe.
[41:21] There is something like that.
[41:22] You would win, babe.
[41:23] You would win.
[41:24] Do you reckon I would win?
[41:25] Oh, my God.
[41:26] So good.
[41:27] You've got to fly to America and do it.
[41:29] It would be heaven.
[41:29] It would be so good.
[41:30] Oh, my God.
[41:31] It would be so much fun.
[41:32] But, yeah, Miss Universe was, so I was 19 when I won that.
[41:37] And honestly, it's like the Vaynerch Olympics.
[41:39] Like I said, you could do a whole other podcast on Miss Universe itself.
[41:43] It is so crazy.
[41:46] That world is just a whole other level.
[41:48] But I also feel like when I did it, it was probably like the last of the...
[41:54] I don't know what we call it, like the hangover of like the Kate Moss era where beauty was really seen quite one dimensionally.
[42:02] You know, you had to be, to be a model, you had to be, you know, nearly six foot.
[42:06] You had to be certain, like certain measurements, a certain kind of look, a certain kind of way.
[42:12] There was really such a lack of diversity.
[42:15] So when I entered into it,
[42:17] my beauty standards that I was held to was, yeah, like I wanted to and needed to be like the thinnest I could possibly be because that's how you booked more work.
[42:26] And I feel like it's changed so much over time, not only because like society has changed, but just me as a person, like as a mum, like,
[42:34] you know, I feel like I've just become more relaxed around things because the reality is I'm not going to be able to go out and get a skin treatment, you know, every week or a couple of times a week, just the way that my life is set up right now at the moment.
[42:46] It doesn't mean that it's going to be like that forever.
[42:48] But yeah, it has been an evolution.
[42:50] And just to have grace, I was just like give myself grace.
[42:55] I was talking about this to a journalist just on the way here.
[42:58] I've shot a Mother's Day campaign for jewellery and I shot that six weeks postpartum.
[43:03] And I was
[43:04] I really don't feel like I want to be in front of a camera.
[43:06] You know, I'm 25 kilos heavier than what I usually am.
[43:10] I'm putting on weight breastfeeding.
[43:12] But the most important thing to me right now is like the health and wellness of my baby.
[43:16] So like pushing aside kind of my own vanity, so to speak, you know, to be a mum.
[43:23] And that's just part of it.
[43:24] I think you kind of, as a woman, you go through, you know, waves and phases in your life.
[43:30] And just to be...
[43:32] kind to yourself in whatever phase that you're in.
[43:34] Like I honestly can't wait to be fit and healthy again.
[43:38] I can't wait to go and get my regular facials and use my retinol and do all of those things.
[43:43] But it's just not where I'm at in life.
[43:45] So like being okay with that and that's been really hard for me.
[43:49] I think for me, like mentally lately is just feeling like I'm not feeling like myself, but trying to be okay with that, if that makes sense.
[43:57] And looking at the bigger picture.
[43:59] Yeah.
[44:00] Yeah.
[44:00] The bigger picture.
[44:00] And it's hard, especially I think in, you know, the weight loss jab at the moment.
[44:05] And every time you open Instagram, it's like, you know, now it's like, not only the people who are like influencers or actresses or models that look a certain way, it's
[44:16] you're seeing at the nail salon all of a sudden is like 15 kilos, you know, smaller than what she feels like.
[44:22] It's such a fresh hell to be in this Olympic age when you're postpartum.
[44:28] So yeah, just giving myself grace and, you know, I'm at the moment and it's not forever.
[44:34] So yeah, my mindset has changed a lot, but I probably wouldn't have given myself that grace say, you know, 10 years ago, I would have been
[44:43] you know, really rushing to go back to the gym and really probably, you know, thinking, well, am I going to breastfeed, continue breastfeeding or am I going to go back to my usual treatment?
[44:52] So yeah, just giving myself more grace.
[44:55] Yeah.
[44:56] So this is our big question and we love hearing what is your most vainish moment?
[45:04] Getting a boob job to win Miss Universe Australia.
[45:07] But you want it.
[45:08] You want it.
[45:09] You want it.
[45:12] No, that was, as I said, like when I was in it at that stage, there was a very certain standard of beauty.
[45:19] And when you were in that competition, I got pulled aside, I think in the final rounds of the state levels and I got pulled aside and they were like, look, you have the ability to go the whole way.
[45:32] You are our number one pick.
[45:34] We think you could go great overseas, but you have no boobs.
[45:38] Mm-hmm.
[45:38] And I was 18 at the time and that was quite a confronting conversation to have because it was something that I hadn't ever really thought about.
[45:45] And yeah, I ended up going to mum and dad and I said, look, I've had this conversation and I feel like winning this competition could be like life-changing for me.
[45:56] And, you know, credit to mum and dad.
[45:58] They didn't have a positive or a negative reaction to it.
[46:01] They were like, we will just support you in whatever it is that you want to do.
[46:05] Mm-hmm.
[46:06] And yeah, I ended up, yeah, obviously having my boobs done.
[46:10] I don't regret having it done because of obviously I went on to win the competition and plays very well overseas and I have an amazing life and have had an amazing career.
[46:19] And I do credit, you know, winning the competition to that because it just opened so many doorways for me.
[46:25] But in saying that, if I had my time again, I don't, it's hard to say I regret it, but it's something I wish I hadn't
[46:32] done if that makes sense.
[46:33] Like I'm so, I can't regret it because obviously I won the competition.
[46:37] I've had an amazing career for it, but it's just one of those things like
[46:42] I don't know, it's just even, yeah, you have to get them redone and, you know, there's all these things that came with it and I just think now all I want is just my small little perky poops bag that I had prepped.
[46:54] Because once you do it, you can't, the only option is, like, if you remove them, you kind of do have to have a lift because there's all that excess skin there from, and then there's so much scarring with that and it's a big procedure to have.
[47:07] So, yeah, when I had them out and I had them lifted before I felt pregnant...
[47:12] I was like, oh, why did I do this?
[47:13] I remember being in the bed and being away from the kids and just being like, I would never have had to have done this if I didn't make that decision.
[47:22] So yeah, I regret it and I don't regret it, if that makes sense.
[47:25] I think the regret would be, it's just like,
[47:27] having that conversation at 18, having someone come to you saying, this is what you need to change.
[47:33] Like we don't do that these days.
[47:35] You just wouldn't have that conversation.
[47:37] You wouldn't say to someone, go get this done.
[47:40] Because you would never go up to someone and say, you need to get lipo to win this competition or you need to have a nose job or you need to have, like no one would have those conversations with people these days.
[47:51] Like we know better
[47:52] But back in those days, like that was 16 years ago, they were the types of conversations that were had, particularly in those competitions.
[48:01] You were like, okay, so, and girls were getting lipo and these are tiny little girls about to go in this.
[48:08] Little girls, I mean, as in like size-wise, like tiny, you know, petite girls.
[48:12] and getting so much cosmetic work to go and compete in these big beauty pageants.
[48:16] And it's just, I think it's just changed now.
[48:18] Like there's just more diversity and we're just, I think people embrace beauty in different ways now, which is great.
[48:25] Yeah, yeah.
[48:25] Thanks so much.
[48:26] That was so awesome to have you on.
[48:29] You're just a ray of sunshine and such great energy.
[48:32] So thank you so much.
[48:33] Yes.
[48:34] Thank you.
[48:35] Thanks for having me.
[48:35] I really appreciate it.
[48:37] Next time you come to Melbourne, we'll go out.
[48:38] Get you in.
[48:39] Yeah, get you in.
[48:40] Yeah, we'll get in the sauna and have a book.
[48:42] Yes, yes.
[48:42] Have a sauna rave.
[48:44] Yes.
[48:44] We'll go to my house because the kids don't know where mine is.
[48:47] I love that.
[48:50] Thanks, hon.
[48:50] Perfect timing because my mum is crying and my boobs are starting to leak.
[48:53] Yeah, perfect.
[48:54] On that note, we'll see you next time.
[48:56] Bye for now.
[48:58] Bye.
[48:58] See you.
[48:59] Bye.
[48:59] Bye.
[49:05] Gonna, gonna, gonna.
