## Transcript

[0:00] That music is hitting hard today, you see these smiles and
[0:05] the confidence, smirks and grins on our faces here because you
[0:08] know what it is. Welcome to the Real Deal in Real
[0:11] Madrid podcast with me Jerrod Hector joined by Sid and Le
[0:14] Conte after Real Madrid's 21 win over Barcelona in Al Classico
[0:19] Bellas. Need I ask how are you feeling
[0:22] right now? Anything is possible.
[0:28] Trying to try to be Kevin Garnett out here.
[0:29] I. Feel like Jason Tatum after the
[0:31] ring, just trying to try to find the right person to ring.
[0:33] But I feel so happy, man. I'm so happy you're.
[0:40] Like, yo, you're in like the end of a championship.
[0:42] We're like, whatever. I look for somebody to hug
[0:44] because all the emotions just go through your body.
[0:45] You're like, I just need to hug somebody because we did this
[0:49] shit. I'm so happy.
[0:52] I, I, I screamed the first two offside goals.
[0:54] I screamed like every time the offside was denied.
[0:57] But I, I'm just been happy all morning.
[0:59] It was a even a game that could have been even and we went and
[1:02] cooked them. It's the most satisfying feeling
[1:03] on earth. 3.5 XG to 1. I just want to say like, just
[1:08] like 2-1 doesn't reflect how we actually fried them in every
[1:11] damn phase of the game. We sent Hansi Flick's boys home.
[1:14] Get out of here bombs. You didn't belong on the same
[1:15] page. Domination in that match you
[1:19] mentioned the underlying XG 353.6 depending on which site
[1:23] you looked at one for Barcelona, the one they scored a Conte your
[1:30] feelings. And then I want you, I want to
[1:33] get into your premonition. You're like, I think I know Javi
[1:37] Alonso pretty well. And you You on our Friday show
[1:39] predicted this would be the starting 11.
[1:43] I mean, for people that watch the show on Friday, play it now,
[1:49] but for people that didn't, yeah, pretty much like I'm
[1:54] feeling exactly how I expected to feel, if that makes sense,
[1:58] right, Going into this game and exact into this season with the
[2:01] loner's coach for Self Classical.
[2:06] And I think the team just left that feeling in me, you know,
[2:10] like that confidence wasn't actually out of nowhere.
[2:14] I'm actually confident on what I'm seeing with this team rather
[2:18] than am I do myself a little bit just because it's a change.
[2:23] It's rather today just kind of nailed on into actually, no, I'm
[2:27] correct on my assessment of this thing.
[2:31] You are 100% correct. So let's start with the
[2:34] beginning of the match, the lineup, right, which this is
[2:37] Javi Alonzo's 15th, whatever, how many matches we've had is
[2:40] the 15th different? Whatever, the same amount of
[2:42] different line UPS we've had. He's never started the same line
[2:44] up twice in a row this season. He started all these Space Jam
[2:48] fans, what I consider our Monstars, right, in Valverde,
[2:52] Chemavanga, Chuameni and Bellingham, right?
[2:54] And I've said this to you guys numerous times on and off camera
[2:58] with those four dudes. How do we not dominate people
[3:00] because they're just so not only are they technically sound, they
[3:04] are physically superior to probably every other midfielder
[3:07] they play. And I don't know about you guys,
[3:10] but it bore out to me because they were winning duels all over
[3:14] the place. Their collective mindset as a
[3:17] group I thought was outstanding. And that was something I was
[3:20] worried about coming into this game.
[3:22] When adversity hits offsides right away, a non penalty,
[3:25] didn't get a penalty, didn't get called right.
[3:27] I was like, oh shit, what are they gonna do?
[3:29] None of that fazed them. And they really said fuck it,
[3:33] we're here to win this game. We're here to dominate and
[3:35] follow exactly what Chavi Alonzo wants us to do.
[3:38] Yeah, Just want to say when what?
[3:41] The last four years, when we would go down in games,
[3:43] something would go wrong. We wouldn't play well to start,
[3:46] and then we would turn it around.
[3:48] This reminded me more of the Zadan years, where you actually
[3:50] have a plan that works, you do a good job executing it, and
[3:54] things go against you. And we still kept executing it.
[3:57] And I thought that was the most beautiful part of this game,
[3:59] like the emotional highs and lows.
[4:01] Oh my God, that was of roller coaster and.
[4:04] Managing them right, as Jude said in the pregame, it's a,
[4:07] it's not about like at the end of the day, like they're,
[4:09] they're elite professionals. So are we tactics or what they
[4:11] are. How do you manage the ebbs and
[4:13] flows emotionally of a big game? And this to me is the best.
[4:17] We've managed our emotions as this group clearly all season.
[4:22] Yeah, 100%. And I think that I just want to
[4:25] think that's. Yeah.
[4:30] Sorry, I I just want to say to feed off to get the country set
[4:32] up. Like you said, it was one of the
[4:35] best mid blocks we've ever had. The the what I thought was
[4:39] really great was that the players were comfortable knowing
[4:41] OK, like if he beats me, I'll go here if he beats me I'll go
[4:45] here. If if they play it back, we'll
[4:47] go press. If the press gets broken, this
[4:48] is what we'll do. There was a lot of if then
[4:50] solutions already in their head. So they felt confident.
[4:54] Last year we'd go up two nil. They would decide what to do
[4:57] emotionally. This there was none of that This
[4:58] year it was all pre decided. Alonso set play after set play.
[5:02] Like the whole game was one big Alonso set play it felt like.
[5:06] I I thought it was a tactical master class by Javi Alonso.
[5:09] Clearly he had clear ideas of what he wanted to do.
[5:13] We were very aggressive in our press, in our counter pressing
[5:16] and and going after, if we lost the ball, going back to win it.
[5:20] And then we settled into that mid block Lecante.
[5:22] We pushed Barcelona into areas that we wanted them to be in.
[5:26] Look, they could do 9 million passes a day.
[5:29] If it's just sideways to each other, fuck it, knock yourselves
[5:32] out because nobody's getting into any dangerous situations to
[5:35] hurt us. Yeah, I mean this was one of the
[5:39] best mid blocks that I've really ever seen, not just by Real
[5:46] Madrid, but in general, because even the simples back pass was
[5:51] requiring a lot of motion from them, right.
[5:53] And you could tell that they're just getting worn out time and
[5:59] time and time and time again. And when you make a team
[6:05] uncomfortable to pass the ball back while you're sitting in a
[6:08] block and barely even running, you know that you're doing a
[6:13] good job. You're tactically sound like we
[6:17] have the Friday show, which I'm going to reference.
[6:19] Chao Main was brought him, right?
[6:21] This is why he plays. He just went like, OK, I'm going
[6:26] to scream for you all night long.
[6:29] Just make sure that you're doing the other things correctly.
[6:34] Guess what? Zone 14, no access.
[6:36] No, just they just went like, no, you just can't enter it.
[6:40] That's the most dangerous zone. So in terms of a tactical setup
[6:46] and what are loans of achieve, I think that today was one of
[6:52] these moments where we saw the players fully buy into what the
[6:57] coach ideology is. They are willing to ride and die
[7:02] for him. And this is a huge chunk when
[7:05] we're talking about the team filled with superstars.
[7:07] It doesn't happen every day. Not every coach can achieve
[7:10] something like that, let alone at this young age.
[7:13] So perhaps Alonzo for everything that he did.
[7:16] With that question, you mentioned that the team, both of
[7:20] you with the collective mindset and the buy in right, everybody
[7:23] came in with the same idea. I saw covering for one another
[7:27] all of the things the hallmarks of teams that win trophies all
[7:31] season, right is what is what you saw today on the pitch.
[7:33] Something I thought about initial instantly when I was
[7:36] watching the the match today is something you said Lecante, on
[7:39] Friday, you know, we had some concerns of the fan base about
[7:44] Carreras's quote UN quote dip in form, right.
[7:47] And Le Conte, you made the astute point.
[7:48] Well, yeah, Well, when you take away Dean Houston and now he has
[7:51] to do all that ball progressing work on his own.
[7:54] Yeah, you notice, right, Other areas of his game suffers.
[7:57] Well, he had his ball progressing partner back in
[8:00] Houston and I thought just that alone he looks so much more
[8:04] comfortable in the ball today and and so much better in terms
[8:07] of what to do when it 'cause he was in some tight and tricky
[8:09] situations and was able to deal with the pressure, evade like he
[8:14] was to start the year and and advance us out out of
[8:16] Barcelona's pressure. Shall we discuss the early
[8:19] events of the game? Gentlemen?
[8:20] The So I just think it's funny the first play, the first play
[8:24] of the game, though, just well, just the first play of the game,
[8:29] Dean actually, like presses steps up way too high and gets
[8:32] caught out. And then he immediately makes a
[8:34] bad pass and it's like it was forgotten.
[8:36] It was forgotten. It didn't even happen.
[8:38] It's like didn't. Linger didn't linger.
[8:40] Yeah, he had that. He had that bad play early and
[8:43] then someone gave it away deep early.
[8:45] Those were the first two lines. Like we're a little shaky, but
[8:49] none of these things. It was Dean.
[8:51] He made the mistake jumping, and then he and.
[8:52] Then he gave it away. And off the bat, like, yeah,
[8:56] both. Yep, that was OK.
[8:59] So that happens, But Barcelona don't get a shot on target till
[9:02] the 33rd minute. I think we just have to touch on
[9:04] the first half because the dominant period of our game was
[9:06] the first half, not the second, Correct?
[9:09] So first half we're playing in one of the best mid blocks we've
[9:11] ever seen. It's just like you said, true.
[9:15] Or many cutting down the spaces in zone 14 and then everyone
[9:18] rotating around him. I thought the most remarkable
[9:22] thing though, was our defending from our hackers was ridiculous.
[9:26] Like, listen, I said, I think I tweeted this out.
[9:29] I know he didn't score today, but I thought Vinny played so
[9:33] well out of possession today in terms of his pressing and his
[9:36] all of it tracking back like, and I get to win the
[9:39] second-half. But I think that was part of his
[9:42] frustration with when he got subbed off.
[9:44] He's like, OK, you tell me you want me to work her out of
[9:47] possession and I'm doing it and now you're taking me off.
[9:50] Now that's not the way you handle it in that situation, but
[9:52] emotions high. It's a classic go.
[9:54] I get all that. But I think that was the result
[9:56] of that. He's like, look, I'm working
[9:57] like you asked me to, busting my ass out of vision, which he was,
[10:00] and I thought in possession. He didn't rush, he didn't make
[10:04] mistakes, didn't like. I think, Sid, you might have
[10:06] mentioned this maybe two or three shows ago or maybe you Le
[10:09] Conte. He gets it now what his role is
[10:11] in this system, right? I don't gotta carry the ball.
[10:14] 9,000,000 yards. No, no, no, no.
[10:16] When I get it, I know exactly where I'm going, what the move's
[10:18] gonna be, what the pass is gonna be.
[10:20] Well, I'm gonna take my guy on and dribble.
[10:21] Like he seems so assure of himself now.
[10:24] And I think all of those things together, he was like, why are
[10:26] you taking me off? Like I'm I'm good.
[10:28] So that was that. Well, so and that's where, yeah,
[10:31] the and so the second-half, the attackers get tired, we have to
[10:34] make Subs. But the first half, when they're
[10:35] all fit, when they're all making, when they're all like
[10:38] fully fit, the defensive ever was ridiculous.
[10:40] And I think it starts with Vinnie and Bape more than
[10:43] anything because they're so fast and and Bape really tried
[10:47] closing down some of their players sometimes and they get
[10:49] so scared. Chesney is terrified.
[10:51] Chesney was he? Almost nicked the ball twice of
[10:53] Chesney like doing that. Yep, and this is all the stuff
[10:57] they said and BAPE wouldn't do any balls.
[11:00] When he was slowed he was shot and Bape just goes from behind.
[11:03] He goes like Nope. Yes, very good.
[11:06] And so we're pressing them super high, Jude on the right and I
[11:11] want to talk about that real quick.
[11:13] So the mid block obviously is designed to actually it's like
[11:16] an upper mid block. It's like we really didn't want
[11:18] to retreat in the first half that much.
[11:20] So most of the time it's a mid block that goes into a press and
[11:23] then gets back into the middle. But we're we're not letting them
[11:26] get into our box. We're setting up like 20-30
[11:28] yards in front of our box or 20 yards in front of our box.
[11:31] Normally when we win it back, we're trying to plate the Jude
[11:34] in the right half space and then he finds people through the
[11:36] middle. Why?
[11:37] Why do we think we we went there with Conte?
[11:43] I mean, normal, right? It's just the Jude thing we see
[11:52] a lot with Alonzo that he likes to do shape shifting a lot.
[11:55] Like that's one of his biggest things.
[11:56] And you could see that Jude was floating.
[11:58] But the reason why I wanted to block that left left side of
[12:01] theirs, which would be in like a right side men that their
[12:05] progression. He was going to force constant
[12:07] switches to Yamal, which was like one of the things that I
[12:12] had pointed out before the game. You wanted that switch to happen
[12:16] as quickly as possible or you wanted Frankie and Pedry to turn
[12:19] around constantly and reshuffling, trying to keep
[12:22] possession because they might be too scared to play the ball
[12:27] forward in fear of transition. So that is exactly what
[12:31] happened. Because Jude is so good at
[12:34] reading passages of play, it's very easy to put him anywhere
[12:38] really and you just know that he's going to be doing that.
[12:41] As you said, it was not really, it was an upper mid block
[12:45] because he still wanted to press them on the first phase.
[12:50] So when Chesney had the ball, he definitely wanted to block the
[12:54] passages, make Chesney take the hard decision, which I think he
[13:00] believed Chesney would sometimes go for Frankie or Pedry, but
[13:04] that unfortunately didn't happen.
[13:06] They were going wide, but for the most part you just saw that
[13:12] the Ackerman of the players like or the moving Jude moving.
[13:18] It's the way how they're pinning.
[13:19] They're 15 it a lot of spaces to access And then once you have
[13:24] clogged Barcelona more centrally, because Yamal
[13:27] Laminium all likes to get the ball and cut on the inside, that
[13:32] means that there are too many central bodies.
[13:35] What's open there? It's out white for Vini and we
[13:38] saw that play time and time and time and time again and
[13:41] Barcelona just was too scared to push Kunde to support Laminium
[13:44] all. So therefore we kept having
[13:47] numerical superiority in all of those phases.
[13:50] Yeah, totally. That was dominant.
[13:54] And I want to say I, I don't think I didn't watch all of ours
[13:57] of PSG, honestly, but if you guys saw it, that was as bad as
[14:00] their performance against any team in a year, over a year, one
[14:04] of their worst performances. And what really stood out was
[14:07] the Hansi Flick team playing side to side yes, and maybe
[14:12] they're even more hurt than they were a few weeks ago, but more
[14:15] than anything, they. Everybody's got injuries.
[14:17] That ain't no excuse. So are we.
[14:19] We got plenty of injuries too. Yeah, yeah, everyone has
[14:21] injuries. I do think they were a weakened
[14:22] team. That's not to make an excuse for
[14:24] them. But like, I mean, for example,
[14:25] Rashford was nothing like drafting yet.
[14:28] Like I, I listen, I like Rashford, but I on some level I
[14:31] do like making fun of the Man United and Premier League fans
[14:33] who thinks he's some superstar. He would not start for us.
[14:36] He's not starting for Barcelona. You guys overrate him a little.
[14:39] He never was on that trajectory and maybe he needed to be here.
[14:42] But today you kind of saw the like decade of footballing
[14:44] education he never got play out. Like he just couldn't do
[14:47] anything. Oh, he's.
[14:49] Certainly not Ravinia. He is certainly no Ravinia.
[14:51] Yeah, and Ravinia would have been terrifying, but like, have
[14:55] Barcelona ever played under flick so many side to side
[14:58] passes? I don't.
[14:59] That might be like a record for lack of progression for them in
[15:02] the game. It it was again, it was just
[15:06] beautiful because clearly that it was by design, right?
[15:09] That was the goal. And Le Conte, you said, let's
[15:12] try to force this into Laminia Mall heliocentric ball, right?
[15:16] Like 'cause he's going to turn it over and all that.
[15:18] But it's even like he couldn't even do that because you get the
[15:22] ball in the corner. It's like, OK, Carreras is on
[15:24] you and the, the the defense to and you saw later in the
[15:28] second-half he started to shift more centrally, right, 'cause
[15:29] he's like, I can't, I'm doing nothing out here.
[15:31] And yes, he did get that that ball into to Kunde.
[15:34] But I would argue that was by design, right?
[15:37] Like you Kunde's, you want Kunde going in there 'cause he has no
[15:40] idea what he's doing when he comes into the box, right on a
[15:42] on a pass like that. I just thought that that the
[15:45] club's Carreras's play one-on-one versus him was
[15:50] excellent. I thought he gave just the right
[15:52] amount of buffer space in the correct body angling position.
[15:55] When he would start his downhill run to cut inside right there
[15:58] was a second person coming saying OK he.
[16:00] Knows that he was always going to cut inside, so that made it
[16:03] much easier. It was, it was just, yeah, they
[16:08] did their homework, right? Like a a club, a club that did
[16:10] their homework and executed right, 'cause it's, look, every
[16:15] club has a game plan before every match.
[16:17] The question is, are you going to execute it or not, right?
[16:19] And how well are you going to execute it?
[16:21] And this is the best execution the club has had.
[16:24] If you look at our underlying metrics, everything kind of
[16:27] followed Sid, the same trend it's been following all year.
[16:31] We dominated in shots, dominated in XG, like all the things right
[16:34] and we were a little bit unlucky or unclinical.
[16:37] You can argue both sides that we weren't able to literally score
[16:41] more right and put 4 or even 5 past Barcelona.
[16:46] Yeah, I definitely think we could have had three and it's
[16:50] just, you know, between the disallowed goals, the small
[16:52] margins, it's a tricky fixture. We didn't fully get around that.
[16:56] And Lecante, I mean, I don't want to get too much into reps,
[16:58] but let's just, I guess we have to touch on it, what we think of
[17:01] the couple referee decisions. So first, the Vini penalty
[17:04] choice. Yeah.
[17:05] Like those were honestly, yeah, that's why I'm so impressed.
[17:08] Those were momentum killers like that.
[17:09] That just took the, like, air out of the game for me as a Real
[17:12] Madrid fan. I'm like, we're cooking you.
[17:13] And then I'm like, oh, I can't even say we're up to nil.
[17:15] None of that. And I mean the first one, I
[17:18] thought, like the commentators were saying, you could be C on
[17:21] the other angle, your mall doesn't touch the ball.
[17:23] Very clear, very clear. It was a penalty to me.
[17:27] Lakanta, you say the same. I mean, I guess we're all we're
[17:31] all in agreement here. What about the second one?
[17:32] Yes. Most intriguing port for me
[17:37] wasn't really those big holes, right, which was the offsides.
[17:41] I mean, by the way, we have proof that Mbappe wasn't even
[17:44] offside and the goal that they disallowed.
[17:47] But for me, it's not bad. For me it's the fact that first
[17:50] 10 minutes Jude got shot three times into the ground with his
[17:55] back, no. They do this thing in La Liga
[18:00] because because he's 6 foot 2 or whatever, he's not allowed to
[18:04] get fouled by a small person. So if a small person touches
[18:06] him, it's not a foul where I'm like.
[18:09] Yes, and that that also played out with Pedri in the night,
[18:12] like late in the game when he's literally I'm like watching that
[18:14] run. I'm like, Oh yeah, This is why
[18:15] we buy the big players. Shove that little pussy to the
[18:17] ground like go. And and I think, I think
[18:19] McNamara even said it like it's not Jude's fault that Pedri's 5
[18:22] foot 5 and runs into his elbow like.
[18:25] Yeah. Yeah, it's not his fault.
[18:26] Like he's 62, whatever, deal with it.
[18:28] Like and I think he gets penalized because he's big and
[18:31] Pedri gets extra credit because he's small.
[18:33] But that just need to remove their elbows before they start
[18:36] playing. Hey, but the red car was such a
[18:40] good car model at the end, it was the cherry on top.
[18:42] It's like, yeah, get out of here.
[18:43] You got all the calls, you got all the offsides, you got all
[18:45] this crap. Still got outplayed.
[18:46] Get off my fish. Like, by the way, this great
[18:48] Pedry, the great, the best midfielder in Spain, didn't look
[18:51] like that to me in this match. I don't.
[18:53] Know because because when you man mark them and with athletes
[18:56] like ours, you can't. They can't play.
[18:57] They don't play football when you man mark them.
[18:59] And honestly that it was really fun to see how tired he was and
[19:02] how he ran and bragged. What are your thoughts there at
[19:05] the concert? You got something to say?
[19:08] You know what's funny right, is the fact that this narrative of
[19:12] Pedry being not only the best midfielder in Spain but also in
[19:15] a world of football because people perceive midfielders in
[19:18] just one way and there is no other way to be a midfielder is
[19:22] the fact that I saw Borsa fans throughout the whole game
[19:27] bashing from their own for delay in his passes this and that.
[19:31] Well, Petty wasn't even going forward with his moves right?
[19:35] He was just going backwards. Kubarsi.
[19:37] Okay, here's Valde and he was guessing his teammates.
[19:40] By the way, I had self to Frankie for that interview where
[19:43] he said that sometimes like the Layma pass because I don't want
[19:45] to put my teammates in bad spots.
[19:47] Well, guess what, Petry, you maybe should listen to that a
[19:50] little bit because there were numerous times when Madrid was
[19:54] setting that trap up for the fullback and Petty was just
[19:57] going like this, then give the ball and the fullback is like,
[20:01] what the hell do I do here? So it's just about control.
[20:06] We know that that pivot is going to be weak or shifted so.
[20:12] How are you going to move around them?
[20:15] So if you're not going to let them move forward, which would
[20:18] have been Fermin between the lines, Fermin had to constantly
[20:21] either come back or move to the wings because there was no space
[20:24] there whatsoever, then you have completely removed those pivots
[20:28] out of the game. When you have lecante, come
[20:29] closer to the mic, come closer to the mic too.
[20:35] Just come closer to the mic too when you speak, yeah?
[20:38] Lean in, lean into the mic. They have the cool players that
[20:43] are turnover prone on the wings. It's very hard to manage a game
[20:50] like that and it boils down to both of their pivots.
[20:54] Well they lacked for lack of better world here.
[20:58] Both owns to go again. That's the truth.
[21:02] They just didn't want to have that duel.
[21:04] They're like Nope I I can't. Well, listen, if I got, if I got
[21:08] to see Kemah, Vinga and all these dudes, like I don't want
[21:12] to do them either, right? Like those?
[21:13] Those guys are monsters and they were awesome today.
[21:18] Hey, we got a we got a quick super chat.
[21:19] I want to just bring up while we're on referees memes.
[21:21] Thank you for for the Super chat.
[21:24] First offside Fuhrman's back pass.
[21:26] Yeah, that that's what everyone was asking me.
[21:29] I the clip like it. It was a Barcelona player who
[21:31] last touched it. So can you do you still call
[21:34] offside in those situations? Like if you're are you saying if
[21:37] the whole line is up and you play like a ball from midfield
[21:41] through the goalie and like if Mbappe is between the goalie and
[21:43] the last center back, he can't just intercept it.
[21:45] That's stupid. That's that actually makes no
[21:47] sense. I agree.
[21:49] Is that I mean, I'm just trying to figure out I stupid here
[21:51] doctor. Bazema's goal on the Champions
[21:55] League final if you remember where they took it away even
[21:59] though it was deflected to him by.
[22:02] For being by the rules, it's not offside.
[22:04] So why are they making us feel stupid while watching the
[22:06] biggest game in football? Like like do you guys just not
[22:09] feel stupid sometimes with the referee?
[22:11] Like do you like confused about the rules like these are
[22:13] professionals paid? It's an obvious rule that a back
[22:16] pass is not offside. I don't know it.
[22:19] The frame is already in my total, by the way, but it's not
[22:22] even offside on that moment when the ball gets played.
[22:27] The ball is still in motion to worsen Bape, and Bape is still
[22:30] on side, not off. So yeah, there are two mistakes
[22:35] within the same action. First is the fact that Fermini,
[22:38] the last player who makes that touch or pass backwards, which
[22:44] means PAPI has been sent through by Fermin.
[22:48] And the second one is the fact that Papi is not even offset so.
[22:54] Did you you said that you think the league office waits.
[22:57] Do you think the league office waits till they have a picture
[22:59] they can put on social media and then puts that out?
[23:01] That's and that was actually that's actually super SUS
[23:04] though, because like very suspect.
[23:06] Why? Why is there no TV replay in the
[23:08] biggest game in football? We have every possible camera
[23:11] angle that exists and every frame of every camera that
[23:14] exists, yet we all we wait and get the one angle and frame that
[23:19] Oh yeah, look, see offsides. And it's like, OK, but why don't
[23:22] we know where is the player who has the ball, right?
[23:25] Like you, don't you? Don't get the full picture.
[23:33] Another person. You're you're you're muted or
[23:35] something. The so you guys were mentioning
[23:42] back passes. I don't know if you saw this,
[23:44] but apparently and all the the the hullabaloo that happened
[23:47] like towards the end of the game, Vidi or somebody said to
[23:50] Yamal all nothing but back passes your defenders, huh,
[23:54] That's all you guys are doing. Like I was like, Oh well, yeah,
[23:56] that's that's kind of what that was the game plan, right?
[23:59] Like cut, cut off their supply and let up and back pass.
[24:03] That's so. Yeah, and and we were still
[24:04] pressing their goalie when they back pass.
[24:06] We were just not letting them do it.
[24:07] Like you don't get to play football at the burn about
[24:09] today, boys. Like I love that.
[24:11] Like, it's the number of times we actually tried to run off the
[24:13] backward angle was so effective. And even late in the game, there
[24:17] was a point when I think Rashford was dribbling back and
[24:20] Judah was trying to cut the pass off to the goalie or the full
[24:23] back in front of him. Yeah, I like that because that's
[24:26] usually what teams have done to us and just flustered us.
[24:28] And why don't we just do that to them, use our athletes.
[24:30] It was so nice it. Was great.
[24:34] It was just a glorious game. It was just a glorious match.
[24:37] Like, you know, we again, everything was almost perfect,
[24:45] right? Like there were a couple of
[24:47] areas where if we were a little bit better with the timing of
[24:50] our passes and the weights, we would have sprung and Bapi and
[24:54] Vinny like for easy one-on-one on goalie shots, right?
[24:58] And could have dusted this game in the first half even and put
[25:00] it to bed. But again, the process and I
[25:03] think we talked about this early in the season, right?
[25:06] You're like, I'm gonna get nervous when the process starts
[25:08] looking bad, but the process looks great right now.
[25:11] It's a matter of us finally getting to the level where we
[25:14] fully executed and we're not there yet, right?
[25:16] Trent's not fully integrated. Like we got guys still coming
[25:18] back from injury, but slowly but surely it it's coming.
[25:21] So just on the note, we play well.
[25:23] We we score our first goal. Was it Lecante?
[25:30] Lecante, you're still get closer to the time.
[25:31] Imagine if Trent will. Sell this game.
[25:34] Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, no, it'd be crazy.
[25:38] Just one, one note. So we're dominating the first
[25:40] half, we score our goal, we we finally get it after all the BS
[25:44] and then Art of Guler makes that big mistake.
[25:48] Just want you guys thoughts firstly because, yeah, like the
[25:51] amount of dominance we had, you just don't want a mistake like
[25:53] that. But two, it feels like some
[25:57] people point out he struggles sometimes on the turn.
[25:59] Sometimes he thinks too much when he's turning and that was a
[26:02] moment that was bad. Any any thoughts on that?
[26:05] Is that a tendency you guys think from Guler sometimes to
[26:07] get caught on the turn? To me it looked like just a a
[26:09] brain cramp, right? Like, so if I'm not mistaken,
[26:12] first he chests the ball right, gets it down to his feet and
[26:15] then almost looks like he stopped 'cause he was thinking
[26:18] what should I do next? And it's like there's so much
[26:21] space around you. You don't just stop and think,
[26:22] just turn the fuck around and you can move forward, right?
[26:25] And I just he a brain fart, right?
[26:28] And those happens. He's still a young player.
[26:30] I do think that point you made, though, that that people are
[26:32] saying about sometimes you're thinking too much in the turn
[26:34] like that, that could be a thing, right?
[26:36] If your back is it's that the more you play, you get that
[26:40] sense, right, where you can sense and feel who and what's
[26:42] around you and where everybody is right.
[26:44] And clearly as a was he 19 as a 19 year old or 20, however old
[26:47] he is, that's not fully tuned in tune yet, right?
[26:50] Like, but it's coming. He's just. 4 reps That's the
[26:53] aspect of the controller profile that takes time to develop.
[26:56] I guess he's he's always he's the surgical passer who's slowly
[26:59] expanding his game to like help conduct blocks and the turn.
[27:03] Honestly, he doesn't need the turn, but it definitely would
[27:06] help if he could turn a little more effectively.
[27:08] It takes a while to have eyes behind your head, right.
[27:10] You you need it like you it's you have to just it's a sense
[27:13] thing and you don't get it. Just you wake up and you have it
[27:15] right. It's just you need more and more
[27:17] and more more. And like I think, yeah, like to
[27:19] your point said, he has the thread pass all of that.
[27:22] That's going to be probably one of the later things to develop.
[27:24] But I think it's it's just more reps and more reps.
[27:27] Yeah. Personally just feel that he
[27:31] needs to face the dribbling out of his game completely.
[27:34] I don't think it's ever going to come for him and I don't think
[27:37] he has a physical profile, no doesn't nor the center of
[27:40] gravity to be able to pull it off.
[27:43] So probably I would work to phase that out on deeper areas.
[27:47] I'm not saying higher up the field because I think that once
[27:49] he's facing the defender, he's definitely good.
[27:52] But then we took my words when you said it's that sharp and
[27:55] turn right where he lacks because there's always one extra
[27:59] touch or the motion is a little bit slow.
[28:03] So try to cut that completely out of his game and age growth.
[28:11] One thing that I'll give him props that not many well didn't
[28:14] impact his confidence at. All didn't like made them, well,
[28:17] the teams. Just went back right in the.
[28:19] Ball, yes. So on that note, so on that
[28:23] note, what do we go to after that goal?
[28:25] I was going to be curious like where are we going to go from
[28:27] here? We have to keep pressing.
[28:29] At that point. I took it for granted.
[28:30] We would be able to keep pressing for the whole game,
[28:31] which we'll touch on, But at that point we go to Vinnie and
[28:35] Vinnie is just automatic right now.
[28:37] Whenever he takes that first step on on the flank and Vinnie
[28:42] crosses it in. If I'm not wrong, that was an
[28:44] open play sequence where Militao ended up near the box, correct?
[28:48] Or am I? Or was that like post corner?
[28:50] Yeah. So that was the Javi Alonso
[28:53] stuff like I. Want to talk about open play?
[28:56] Sequence. Yes, I thought that was Alonzo
[28:58] play written all over it in the sense that I don't know how many
[29:01] times I've seen, like Barcelona used to have PK join the attack
[29:05] situationally if they needed a tall body in the box.
[29:08] But over here that just came out of nowhere.
[29:11] I'm just like, we don't have Gonzalo on the pitch.
[29:13] We've been criticizing this season that we need a tall guy.
[29:16] Then out of nowhere, Militale pops up as if it's planned.
[29:19] This is it. The Jude.
[29:20] I was in love at that point. I'm like, wow, like that just
[29:23] came out of nowhere. That's a guard job because.
[29:26] There's another one second of where military is in a box.
[29:30] Yep. Yep, that's after a dead ball
[29:31] situation, but that still happens.
[29:34] Yeah. You know, maybe just me on here,
[29:38] correct me if I'm wrong, that Vinnie Cross felt automated.
[29:41] It's kind of like he knew what he has to do because he doesn't
[29:44] even put his head up right. Don't even check.
[29:47] And the far post Militao based on on the.
[29:50] Flow of the game right now. Yeah, no.
[29:52] And Militao purposely went far post on the like fullback.
[29:55] He wasn't in the center back zone and Jude purposely like
[29:57] started there and vacated it when Militao went there.
[29:59] Oh, it was beautiful, see, And that's what.
[30:03] That's a little. Bit delayed.
[30:06] Yeah. No, you go ahead, Gerard.
[30:07] Oh, we can. Talk.
[30:07] I was going to say more of the automatisms.
[30:10] Delayed you can tell. Yeah, I, I more of the
[30:14] automatisms are, are there, right?
[30:16] And they're starting to show themselves.
[30:17] And the ceiling of this is when that coupled with the
[30:23] improvisational genius of the players meld together, that's
[30:27] when this team is at its apex and it's gonna hit its zenith,
[30:30] right? When OK, we've got these, right,
[30:32] which we know. And then it's yo, Vinny, do some
[30:35] crazy fucking between the defender leg, whatever, right.
[30:38] Like when those things are playing off of each other,
[30:41] that's when ultimately, like this squad will be, dare I say,
[30:45] like unbeatable, right? Because everything will be
[30:49] clicking right? And I think I, I, I think they
[30:52] can get there. I really do.
[30:54] Any other thoughts on the first half guys before we transition?
[30:56] I got a super chat I want to bring into transition.
[30:58] Any thoughts? No love that first half.
[31:00] I was, I, I, I that was after that first half, I was like, Oh
[31:03] my God, can we replicate this please?
[31:05] Like Jesus, like I, I felt No Fear whatsoever.
[31:09] I was like, we are good. Like we're good.
[31:12] What do you think, Laconte? Any final thoughts on the first
[31:14] time? Too extreme on L, you know, like
[31:23] people don't seem to really appreciate how much this team
[31:27] creates. It's just.
[31:29] A ton. I don't know where we are across
[31:32] the top five European leagues, but are we do we have the most?
[31:35] I mean, I know in Champions League we do, but I wonder if we
[31:37] have the most shots and like, chances created across the top
[31:40] five leagues or I mean, I'd be shocked if we're outside the top
[31:44] 6. Yeah, I got to check that.
[31:49] So they should be first, but we should be like 2nd, 3rd, 4th at
[31:53] worst. Yeah, interesting.
[31:56] I I definitely will check that at some point now going into the
[32:00] second-half expectations and I'm going to bring the Super chat
[32:02] here because it's come out relevant.
[32:04] Can we consider Barcelona big team because they kept saying
[32:07] Madrid haven't beaten big teams from last season.
[32:10] Well, I will say this I we we did a tier ranking of Barcelona
[32:14] of all the Champions league teams and contenders and we put
[32:16] them in Tier 2 and us in tier one and a lot of people were
[32:19] watching the athletico game and making fun of us like, oh, you
[32:21] guys are dumb. Listen, This is why because when
[32:24] there it's the end of October, you're missing Joanne Garcia,
[32:27] Robert Lewandowski, Rafinia Araujo is like Kunde looks like
[32:32] he he needs to like take an ear off.
[32:34] And then you you're just missing half your team.
[32:36] Pedry is like pulling Vinny's shirt in like the 60th minute
[32:39] because he can't run anymore. Literally.
[32:42] Literally he looks so dead at that moment.
[32:43] I'm like, I don't think you guys can do.
[32:45] This Vinny was dragging him. He was holding it and Vinny was
[32:47] dragging him while he was running.
[32:48] I was like. The.
[32:52] Fact that Vinny just went like he really needed to pull that
[32:55] shirt because Vinny wasn't going to give up there like that
[32:58] contact was not going to like Vinny drop, but he just had no
[33:02] choice, literally. Yeah, and.
[33:04] It's hard to find sequences like that.
[33:07] That was so funny. Yeah, it is.
[33:08] It is. That was so funny.
[33:09] And and that's why at halftime, my thoughts were that, Ken, I
[33:14] think we can press like this one more half.
[33:15] I'm like mainly because they have nobody off the bench and we
[33:20] have Franco Rahim, we have Rodrigo.
[33:24] So I think I thought our pieces would do it.
[33:26] And that's where we got to immediately touch on the start
[33:29] of the second-half. You know, we win the penalty and
[33:32] Boppy misses the penalty and the air gets taken out of the game.
[33:35] And with the air completely taken out of the game, like
[33:40] that's when Barcelona get on the ball.
[33:42] But you know, that's where all their injuries show.
[33:45] Again, like to address you if the like they like Yamal was
[33:48] injured too. As you pointed out, La Conte and
[33:51] our rotations were good, but independently from the fact that
[33:54] our defensive rotations were good in the second-half, they
[33:57] were so dead. They had nothing out there.
[33:59] They had like Yamal passenger Ashford with the one bright spot
[34:02] being and they still have depth and why they're so good.
[34:04] Fermin from their La Masia. Fermin was honestly their
[34:08] scariest player the whole game. I was actually scared he would
[34:11] do something in the second-half. But even his shots, right, his I
[34:15] think Fermin had three. He had three shots on goal, if
[34:18] I'm not mistaken. But even those yes, were not
[34:22] like the clearest cut like oh, like those were, if I'm pretty,
[34:25] if I remember, pretty easy says for Courtois, right.
[34:29] Nothing really stretched or pushed or challenged him from
[34:31] Fermin. I mean, look, if we're
[34:38] transitioning from first all to second, all right, they had
[34:41] seven shots on the 1st all just 8 on a second, you know, like I
[34:46] do know that pose the penalty, yes, it was a little bit of OK,
[34:54] we could have killed the game here and just be calmer and the
[34:57] players felt that still though, that first hole, Barcelona was
[35:02] still carrying that OK. We had to run a lot.
[35:05] We were way too uncomfortable. So even when we were down, they
[35:09] just couldn't take advantage of it just because.
[35:11] And then we reshuffled, right? You saw the saws getting ready,
[35:16] you saw the players warming up. Everything was going to be
[35:20] reshuffled at one point by Alonzo because he noticed that.
[35:23] OK, so right now if I stick to this, they are doing a good job.
[35:30] But I might be found out at any point because, well, only takes
[35:34] this one moment. You saw the goal conceded,
[35:36] right? 31 Buffet scores that penalty
[35:40] this game over, you probably get two or three more because
[35:42] they're so gassed they're going to be down emotionally.
[35:47] That kind of was like what really took the big victory out.
[35:53] But regardless of that, I feel that the team outside of Mafia
[35:57] responded well as the game progressed.
[36:00] But peril, that confidence got shattered.
[36:04] What what'd you guys think of the penalty?
[36:06] It was obviously a good save by Chesney, but this is my overall,
[36:10] like, penalty feeling Like I really hate that.
[36:14] Like slow jog up, skip, wait. Like dude, picking your mind
[36:18] where you're going to go and fucking go there, right?
[36:21] Like I, I hate that shit like that makes me so uncomfortable
[36:24] but that's just a personal thing.
[36:27] You always miss some and I I I wouldn't I don't.
[36:30] I know you can take your run up this, that, but like, yeah, I
[36:33] mean, I like the faster run UPS too, but man, it's just hard
[36:35] sometimes. I will say, I mean, it wasn't
[36:38] the best penalty. Like when you miss, it's
[36:39] probably not the best penalty in the world.
[36:41] I don't think you can say that was one where the goalie just
[36:43] did a great job. I thought Mbappe kind of like
[36:45] wasn't the best, I mean. It was a good save right because
[36:48] it was upper right corner for Szesny, right?
[36:51] Well, also I just want to say I don't think Mbappe is.
[36:55] I don't think Mbappe is as good a penalty taker as say, Ronaldo.
[36:57] Like a little worse. I just.
[37:00] He's not an elite penalty taker. Like I don't think we have had
[37:03] an elite penalty taker since like Ramos, if we really want to
[37:06] be honest there. Yeah, 'cause elite is 90%.
[37:12] Oh I didn't check Benz's percentage but yes I believe
[37:15] Ramos is the best and Ronaldo was like.
[37:18] Like he has to be our last. I really trust this guy to make
[37:23] it 9 out of 10 times. With the rest, it's more like a
[37:26] six out of 10, really. Yeah, even Jude missed one,
[37:30] right? Yeah.
[37:33] Judas. Miss Genius, Miss Papa's Miss
[37:36] Madrich missed last season. Like we just realities we're not
[37:42] that good at taking better. Like that's the reality of it.
[37:46] You know who could be good? Franco.
[37:48] Franco could be a monster at those he.
[37:50] Could be he. Could be.
[37:51] Yeah. Ice.
[37:51] Cold and has a sloth on him. Yes.
[37:55] Like what about? What about artist, Artist
[37:57] artist? Got a shot?
[38:00] I think all the took one for Turkey, which was pretty damn
[38:03] good. So that's another name.
[38:07] But you've got to leave it to your top scorer.
[38:11] You get like Poppy is still going to make it more often than
[38:14] he's going to miss it. That's the reality of it.
[38:18] Yes. And also I just want to say
[38:19] Ronaldo statistically is a little worse than I test would
[38:22] say. He's like he wasn't as good as
[38:23] Ramos's best stretch. Ramos's best stretch was way
[38:26] better than Ronaldo's. Like Ronaldo is still in the
[38:27] 82%, but if you drop a little before below 80 for any
[38:31] prolonged stretch, for me, I'm just like, I feel a little.
[38:33] Uncomfortable. You're like, I don't want you
[38:35] taking these. Yeah, I I can accept for one in
[38:38] five penalties being missed by my top scorer.
[38:40] I'm I'm OK with that. It's just, I mean at the end of
[38:44] the. Ronaldo penalty missed us the
[38:46] league in 1415 against Valencia. I know that it was Diego Alvarez
[38:50] but it was a Ronaldo penalty that literally kills us in a
[38:53] league. So it happens.
[38:56] All I'm saying is that it happens.
[38:58] I'm not saying that Ronaldo was bad or anything, I'm just
[39:00] pointing out to the fact that even though what we would
[39:04] consider the greatest penalty taker ever by given the number
[39:09] of volume or then the volume of penalties that is taken even
[39:13] he's missed. He's missed the Champions League
[39:15] final one, he's missed the one of the La Liga deciders.
[39:20] He's missed penalties, the bio mini one, which comes to mind.
[39:23] Like I would like to calm down Liam, Bobby thing by our fan
[39:27] base when it comes to that. Oh yeah, I'm not, I'm not
[39:29] killing him for. Sure.
[39:30] On the note of Ronaldo and examples and all those different
[39:34] things, I just want to bring up the Vinnie sub because I to me
[39:36] it felt like someone who's idolized Ronaldo and just feels
[39:39] like, hey, I won two Champions League.
[39:40] I'm like, I'm him. It felt like a bit like a
[39:43] Ronaldo lash out honestly. And just want to touch on that.
[39:45] So first the substitutions like the Conte you pointed out that
[39:50] Vinny was tracking a little slowly.
[39:52] Now Gerard, you pointed out Vinny felt like he had tracked
[39:54] really well. I will point out now that right
[39:57] before he got solved in the last five ish minutes, he did
[39:59] actually have one really nice effort where he tracked back and
[40:02] went after Yamal and I think he looked tired though he it looked
[40:05] like a it looked like a lot more tired and.
[40:08] Just yes, I, I was really, really nervous in that spell of
[40:11] the game. I'll just bring up the chart,
[40:12] but around the 70th, a minute, around the time Vinnie got
[40:16] subbed, I was terrified it would become Tutu.
[40:18] And ultimately, that substitution was necessary, as
[40:23] you pointed out by Conte. It was a must.
[40:27] Like the reality was that the effort of the first half and the
[40:31] energy that Vinnie was expelling up going high, carrying the ball
[40:36] a lot, because this was one of the games where we decided to do
[40:39] that. He didn't have a lot on his
[40:42] tank. You can mention one or two
[40:43] sequences where he came back, but there were like 5 sequences
[40:47] when Fermin was just going on the inside and Carreras was.
[40:50] And then Dean gets the yellow card, so he can't be a + 1 to
[40:54] Carreras, so therefore Dean has to retreat.
[40:58] So Truamini gets pulled out. So it's just like one player
[41:02] leaving that is causing a lot of issues elsewhere.
[41:08] And that's why I'm fully on board with the sub and I won't
[41:12] change my stance to that. If I'm Alonzo.
[41:14] I'm just taking the need to the film room and being like, look,
[41:17] this one, this one, this one, this one, this one, this
[41:20] happened, this happened, this happened, this happened.
[41:21] The seven. It's not about your performance.
[41:23] It's about what the team needed or you're a team player or not.
[41:27] And that's what will happen. That's what's I just, but I just
[41:32] want to say, yes, that was a bad reaction.
[41:33] But my prediction I'm putting out there right now, while this
[41:36] Vinnie contract thing still plays out in front of us, I
[41:39] predict Alonzo has to talk with him.
[41:40] He gets him on board and this is fine going forward, I think.
[41:44] And I I think, listen, here's how the combo goes.
[41:46] If you're Vinnie, though, Vinnie's going to look for the
[41:48] film and look for other reasons to get him bothered or someone
[41:50] else off and be like, hey, what about him?
[41:51] And I think that's where I like Alonzo 'cause he's going to base
[41:54] it off the film. I don't think Alonzo's going to
[41:56] be like, no, he's going to sit down and talk to everyone, like,
[41:59] and he's also closer to their age where he can have that
[42:01] conversation. Like I think.
[42:04] So my hot take is that we move on from this really effectively.
[42:07] And I hate UESPNFC for milking it.
[42:09] Screw you guys. Like they're going to milk the
[42:12] fuck out of this all week. They did.
[42:13] It was their only tweet. It was their only tweet for like
[42:15] 20 minutes after it happened. Like it was just up like.
[42:18] Get ready because we don't play again till the weekend, right?
[42:20] No, no midweek fixtures. That's the only way you stop us.
[42:23] Like breaking us up mid. Weekend and that's.
[42:27] And I just want to say that's the only way you stop this team,
[42:29] by breaking them up 'cause they're cooking, they're
[42:32] cooking. No, I'm with you and I and I
[42:33] think you're right. I think Alonzo will handle the
[42:36] mini situation correctly, right? Like because he will understand.
[42:40] Remember that couple weeks ago he said I didn't talk to Vinny
[42:43] much today because it seemed like he needed just a little
[42:45] calm down period. But then we talked today and
[42:46] everything's fine, right? So he will know when to approach
[42:49] him to talk to. All right, I know you're upset
[42:51] and you did play well, but here's what was happened to
[42:53] Laconics Point. These are the sequences I saw
[42:56] and with only a one goal lead we needed someone's pressure legs
[42:59] to do XY and Z. And Vinny is not A.
[43:01] I think a common misconception about him that non Madridisons
[43:04] have or even some of them the fanbase is that he's not a team
[43:06] guy and I vehemently disagree with that.
[43:09] Vinny is very much a team guy and so I think he'll be like no
[43:13] you're right, this is for the team.
[43:14] That was the heat of the moment and my emotions.
[43:16] You are correct and that was the right play to make.
[43:19] Do you know what we missed with Vinny after the sub is the fact
[43:22] that, you know, once 80th minute would hit, he would go to the
[43:26] fans and just go like, cheer up, you know, I don't want you guys
[43:30] to stop. Like, he's very good at doing
[43:31] that. He's very good at communicating
[43:34] with his teammates. I think that there is definitely
[43:38] a lot of love between all of them.
[43:40] I don't see a break here breaking up the situation here.
[43:44] I just think that Vinnie was playing really well offensively.
[43:47] And let's keep in mind like Vinnie comes from an environment
[43:50] in Madrid which valued offense it's way so the point where he
[43:57] didn't value defense at all, where he was told stay up, I
[44:01] don't care. I just want you to do the
[44:03] offensive stuff well, which Vinny was doing to his credit
[44:06] still. But now you're in different
[44:10] environment and now Vinny is going to have to adjust it.
[44:13] It's becoming a little bit harder for him on emotional side
[44:16] I feel to adjust to this because tactically this looks to be one
[44:22] of the better versions of Venice's that we have seen as a
[44:25] player, right? He's calmer when it comes to the
[44:27] opposition, like he's not falling traps.
[44:29] We're seeing the amount of red cards, what is able to win.
[44:32] We even talked about the penalty that he won, the calmness that
[44:35] he had on that situation. I feel that as a player, as a
[44:39] footballer itself, he's evolving.
[44:41] His mind, his football mind is evolving.
[44:44] Now it's more of like, OK, temper down those emotions,
[44:48] understand that this was for the better of the team.
[44:51] And I don't know where you're coming from because Vinnie would
[44:54] definitely have a counter argument.
[44:55] And he would go like, well, what if we considered regardless,
[44:59] then who's there to really take the team forward?
[45:03] Because I was the best at doing that.
[45:04] But she would have been correct. But Borsa didn't look
[45:08] threatening enough for you to take that gamble, and the gamble
[45:13] was the fact that you only needed to block that lane for
[45:16] them and you would have been fine.
[45:18] So as we saw it happen, it was fine.
[45:22] And like, one thing talking about the Subs, right?
[45:26] Assuming that the Venus thing is taller here Brahinias.
[45:31] Yeah, Wino Franco. Great sub.
[45:33] What's a wino Franco? That's my question, I'm actually
[45:36] confused. Appreciated that tight space
[45:38] dribbling a little bit more than Franco's energy and the fact
[45:41] that he would run into the channels more.
[45:43] I think that's. Because Frank, in those
[45:45] situations, that's that's, that's giving away.
[45:47] He might give away in those situations, right?
[45:48] And we've seen him do that, turn the ball over like, whereas
[45:50] Brahim is such a tight, a tight space dribbler.
[45:53] He's so good at that. Brahim does turn the ball over
[45:55] when he takes chances, but if he needs to keep it, he say Franco
[45:58] just kind of turns it over no matter what.
[45:59] So yeah, I agree. Franco just kind of gives the
[46:02] ball into like a vertical lane. Well, with Brahim, it's more of
[46:05] like horizontal right, the player still left to orientate
[46:09] his body, Frank, who's like direct to the player.
[46:11] So he's going to lose it and immediately allow the wrong
[46:14] forward. He tries back to his credit.
[46:17] The thing is that if you could predict that Marcus and Arau
[46:22] were going to command, Franco would have been the perfect sub
[46:26] because by that point, Barcelona's husband like cross
[46:30] the ball because there is nothing that we can do.
[46:32] Turnovers were much less of a problem because they were just
[46:35] not congested inova on the wings so.
[46:41] I will say yeah, backfired the. Boards are saved to bring him
[46:45] out. Yeah, I, I, I, I, I'm with you
[46:50] there, Lecante. I 'cause we're, we're now late
[46:54] in the second-half right where Barcelona has more possession
[46:56] once again. Half time it was 5149,
[47:00] possession was all basically 5050.
[47:01] And then by the end of the game it ended up being what, like 60
[47:05] something. I think for Barcelona, just
[47:06] because we we let them have it in, in positions that they
[47:09] couldn't do anything in the second-half.
[47:11] The only worry? Oh, sorry, but but no.
[47:13] Good, good. The only worry I I, the only
[47:15] chance, the only moment in the half that scared me was that
[47:17] Kunde chance and Kunde stupidly, even the commentator pointed it
[47:20] out. He stupidly chested it down.
[47:22] But again, I do. Do you guys think that was that
[47:24] was by design, Like OK, Kunde is going to run in because I'm not
[47:28] worried about if he gets the ball in there, like he's less of
[47:31] a of concern. Than I don't think it was by
[47:33] design, but I do think I just thought he beat us like it was a
[47:39] good run, but I think he's the one guy you needed to fall to in
[47:42] that situation and thank God it was him Kunde bro just go take
[47:46] some time off we get it like you you don't look like yourself at.
[47:50] The chest and not to the head. No, no, yes.
[47:54] But when you look at it, are you telling like, are you telling
[47:56] me? Kunde couldn't reorient his body
[47:58] though in that moment? But yes, it was weighted to the
[48:00] chest. I'm just saying like, I watch
[48:02] it, it's coming here. Is there nothing you can do to
[48:04] like? Yeah, can you, can you dive and
[48:07] throw your head at it? Diving header, Yeah, dive down,
[48:09] slow down your run. Diving header or something did.
[48:11] You did, you have opportunity because Dean was there so.
[48:14] He was open. He was wide open.
[48:15] No, he was wide open. He was wide open.
[48:17] He was completely wide open. What I'm saying is that from the
[48:22] when Yamal releases, he doesn't have enough time because he's
[48:27] not naturally expecting it. He expected them.
[48:30] What I think what they normally do is the fact that on normal
[48:35] flick situation, that would have been ball to the full, back,
[48:38] ball back to them all, then the ball would have come in.
[48:41] So I think that because the timing was a little bit miskewed
[48:44] and he read that late, he opted for the chefs rather than to die
[48:49] for the other because he didn't have enough time to think of
[48:52] what's the best show is there. Maybe, Yeah, regardless, I mean,
[48:57] regardless of what happened, that was scary.
[48:59] And I think our only mistake of that and the Guler mistake,
[49:04] yeah, that and the Guler moment. And I've watched Classicos for
[49:07] years. If we're not up by two, you
[49:09] always get one of those. So I was scared the whole second
[49:12] you do get one of those. Even here's like when they had
[49:15] Koiman, they would still get one of those.
[49:16] And you have to like, make sure you survive it.
[49:19] You know, this team is set up in a way where we are surviving
[49:25] those better than we have in the past, right?
[49:28] How many one goal leads did we have last year that ended up
[49:31] being draws or in some cases outright defeats, right?
[49:34] Because we just could not maintain a one goal lead.
[49:37] And I think that cause one of the things I enjoyed about the
[49:40] the the team in this match was out of possession when they when
[49:45] when boss on to get the ball back, everybody got back into
[49:48] the shape that Alonzo wanted like, and it was good like there
[49:52] weren't gaps to find and right, Pedro was looking for that.
[49:56] Nobody. There was nowhere to go, no gap
[49:58] for you to thread that pass in. No, nothing.
[50:00] There was nothing there. So you got to just keep passing
[50:02] it sideways and backwards and try to recycle and come back
[50:05] around. So I thought again, our ability
[50:07] to hold on to leads, while it is scary and looks like, Oh my God,
[50:11] we might concede and look, the ball bounces bad or whatever.
[50:14] Sure it could happen. But I think the structure is
[50:17] there and the, and the, the the mindset of what to do and how to
[50:22] protect is there. It's just a matter of do we
[50:24] execute it or not when we have these one goal leads.
[50:28] And also what's it called the The other thing is not only
[50:33] defensively, but on the ball, sometimes Courtois and even to
[50:38] many, but especially Courtois, like we've criticized him for
[50:41] being slow, not being brave. He was really, really brave in
[50:46] some of those passes, Very proud like that.
[50:49] It wasn't easy. You know, he's not fully
[50:51] trusting his technique, but he's 100% focused so he can do it.
[50:55] I respect that and I thought I thought our time wasting was not
[50:59] always efficient. Sometimes like Rodrigo, what are
[51:01] you doing, bro? Just take it to the corner.
[51:02] Like don't shoot at the goalie, take it to the corner.
[51:06] But I thought Courtois kind of understood that mandate and too
[51:09] many, like, I think this is a great example like of how when
[51:12] when we really figured out like the focus is not going to be on
[51:15] too many defensively. It's not going to be or or his
[51:18] lack of touches and his speed of pass.
[51:20] Nobody was talking about too many being still on the ball and
[51:23] fete. And I think part of that is
[51:24] because obviously we weren't trying to fix them in their half
[51:28] positionally and play slow. We just were trying to get at
[51:30] them because we know they're weak.
[51:32] But I think the other part of it is also just they're growing
[51:35] slowly and you know, the net. I think they're going to, I
[51:38] think there's going to be a big game when people forget that
[51:40] there was a convo that our midfield doesn't have enough.
[51:43] That's my like, this was a game where you you're not looking at
[51:45] the midfield saying it doesn't have enough.
[51:48] But obviously Barcelona just to bring that super chat up.
[51:51] They I will just say they defend so badly at points like that.
[51:56] Athletico game was honestly a harder matchup.
[51:58] Athletico Madrid right now are a harder matchup for us than
[52:01] Barcelona. There is a way in which
[52:04] Athletico plays with an intensity that for whatever
[52:10] reason, right, we struggle with. And also as Leconte pointed out,
[52:15] Hugo Simeone, who I do not like, he just out coached Alonso in
[52:19] that in that matchup, right? Like he was just better in terms
[52:22] of what they wanted to do. The question is on the on the
[52:24] return to the Burnabout, what will Alonso have learned by that
[52:28] time and what will he do different tactically to match
[52:31] that, assuming we come to the match with the right energy,
[52:33] which I think we will based on how they played today.
[52:36] Well, Simeon is more flexible, right?
[52:38] I've been. Watching the film once, you know
[52:40] that I beat in the Bush kind of with this, but it doesn't look
[52:43] as bad as the scoreline shows when you re watch it and you see
[52:47] that really some, I mean they are big details because midfield
[52:53] rotation is a big detail when it comes to receiving the ball.
[52:57] But today and what he tried to do against that Lady were not
[53:03] vastly different. It's just that today the players
[53:07] could execute. So this, when we talk about
[53:10] reps, this when we talk about the cake, we have had more time
[53:12] to prepare about this, OK, We're just better set up now to deal
[53:16] with this. The Yuva game, for example, gave
[53:18] me a lot of confidence on this thing because Yuva are
[53:21] unorthodox. I'm not saying they're the best
[53:24] team in the world, but they are very unorthodox to deal with and
[53:28] dealing with manner with them. I just went like, OK, now you're
[53:31] going to play a much more predictable team.
[53:34] So I don't really expect this to struggle.
[53:37] Like you guys know my games for addiction.
[53:39] I had the 2 Now, you know, funny enough, we we can see to that
[53:44] goal. But on a general sense, I just
[53:47] was ultra super confident on what Alonzo was doing as a coach
[53:52] getting into this game. And I feel that it still has
[53:56] craziest part here is that it still has a lot of room to
[53:58] improve. It's not a fully polished
[54:02] product where you go like, OK, this is it.
[54:04] This is the ceiling of this team.
[54:07] We're seeing the best version. No, we're not.
[54:10] We're getting there slowly, but this is not the best version of
[54:15] this team. There are still player
[54:18] tendencies. There are still tactical changes
[54:21] that a lonely is going to need to do throughout now and what we
[54:25] like to call peak season, which would start from March and
[54:28] onwards with the Champions League and the league deciders
[54:30] and all of this. So he has plenty of time for as
[54:33] long as he's getting the results.
[54:35] Now he has a four point lead against Mars, if I'm correct,
[54:38] right? I have.
[54:40] I think because they were two points behind.
[54:41] We won 3, so 5 now. OK, so that's nice.
[54:45] Five points behind. So naturally he's got two losses
[54:52] to lose this first place now, which could and probably will
[54:57] happen at some point. And that is saying that
[55:00] Barcelona will be perfect, which is highly unlikely.
[55:03] So he's got himself now this leverage all of this season,
[55:08] he's won every game but one. Every game but one.
[55:12] There hasn't been a single draw like that's really.
[55:19] Yeah, this. Yeah, we did a bucketing of all
[55:23] the different fixtures we played on the show earlier and we kind
[55:27] of bucketed and it was like all the games except Athletico and
[55:29] Sociedad were pretty solid win probability.
[55:32] Some of them may be closer to 7580%, others were really 90%
[55:36] maybe. And today falls into those last
[55:38] two buckets, which is nice because like unexpected goal
[55:43] difference, a chance creation difference, a progression
[55:45] difference this large while you're a work in progress is, is
[55:50] the stuff that dreams are made of.
[55:51] Like there's really nothing more you can ask for.
[55:53] I knew. I mean, football is realistic.
[55:55] Like even the best seasons, teams have growing pains.
[55:57] So I take that up. Eddieco lost for this win.
[55:59] And I'll put it this way, if we had to like just drop one game
[56:02] so we can win the rest, I'll take it.
[56:03] Like that's just how I would go about it.
[56:06] I'm looking at the, the, the, the, the, the final numbers 23
[56:10] total shots. They had 15-4 big chances.
[56:13] They had two. We mentioned the XGS 3.6 to one
[56:18] we had and twelve corners, they had four.
[56:21] I mean, it was really dominant performance and to me you saw
[56:28] that in the reaction of Barcelona towards the end of the
[56:32] game. And as the whistle blew first
[56:35] all the off the field, like fighting before the final
[56:39] whistle blew, whistle blew. If you watch all started by the
[56:41] Barcelona side because whatever, they're sore losers, right?
[56:45] And so I think he got a yellow card 'cause he was telling them
[56:47] to go back on your side, whatever.
[56:49] All this stuff to Yamal, who by the way, you know, talked a lot
[56:52] of shit about himself and his team heading into this game.
[56:56] That when, when, when, when they beat me, they can talk.
[56:59] It's like, well, we did and we are talking, right?
[57:02] Like what say you now, right And so and they tried.
[57:06] To steal and cheat, they tried to steal and cheat.
[57:08] Correct. And one of the things we talked
[57:10] about with this team is you want guys to have a little bit of,
[57:16] look, this is this is football, this is not MMA, this is not
[57:19] boxing, right? But I want guys to stand up for
[57:22] themselves. And if somebody's getting in
[57:24] your face or whatever, have the chutzpah to push them away,
[57:28] like, and just stand up for yourself.
[57:30] And I was very impressed that Real Madrid players stood up for
[57:33] themselves and was like, we're not taking any shit from you
[57:35] dudes. Like, whatever, we won, deal
[57:37] with it. Get the fuck out of here.
[57:38] Yep. Oh.
[57:43] Also, we had a week. You know what it was, it was
[57:45] Carvahall coming the players down.
[57:48] Well, do you see Carvahall at the When the final whistle blew,
[57:51] he went up to your mall and was like, so I said like, hey man,
[57:55] all this chatter like and was like, you know, and then then it
[57:58] all all then it it's it's. It did he do that?
[58:00] Did he do that? Yeah.
[58:01] He literally did the talking too much thing that to to Yamal as
[58:05] he went to him and then it yeah, yeah, yeah.
[58:08] I just want to, yeah, I just want to say a lot that.
[58:10] Beat you're supposed to have all just taking players like don't
[58:13] fight, don't fight, don't fight. Well, yeah, because we don't
[58:16] want because you know, the legal, legal come back and be
[58:17] like you get red cards post game and now you're suspended for
[58:21] like the next five matches. Or whatever.
[58:22] Pedre's out of here. So I'm happy.
[58:24] Like get out of here Pedre you? Know.
[58:28] Fucking pedre these. Hustlers.
[58:31] Yeah. Right.
[58:34] Yeah. And Judy's a combination of
[58:40] elite footballer and a hustler, which I'm just like, damn, you
[58:46] know, like that mentality of where he doesn't shy away from a
[58:51] single thing and combined with that ridiculous football
[58:55] talented and athletism, and I'm like, holy fuck, I mean, what a
[58:59] footballer I'm watching here. Because I I thought you were so
[59:01] glad. You know, I feel that Jude is
[59:04] not getting the credit that he deserves anymore because it's
[59:07] kind of like, oh, he's not scoring the name.
[59:10] That's why, because he's not scoring a million goals.
[59:13] You know, like Jude does not need to score like against the
[59:18] top for Salt. He was incredible.
[59:20] Just like today, people were like, no, he's not.
[59:23] I'm like, he's doing all the right reads.
[59:25] He's making the play. He's moving left and right,
[59:29] wherever it was required. He's hustling for everything,
[59:32] like that's what they want from a footballer.
[59:34] Like it's not all about like, can I spin 180° and make a
[59:39] dribble? You know, football is more than
[59:43] that. And you just like I love every
[59:47] play, right? But the reality of that, this
[59:51] team and does not feel the same without him.
[59:55] That's my stance on it. The, the energy management is
[59:58] huge because like Barcelona, like I, I think This is why I
[1:00:02] just want to see our players just destroy them.
[1:00:04] And like one, they have less money.
[1:00:06] So they're squeezing all these Lamacia players and now all half
[1:00:09] of them are hurt because Flick squeezes all of them as much as
[1:00:11] possible. And I think like today was great
[1:00:15] because Jude's played in smaller spaces.
[1:00:17] Alonso's added like probably 10 years to his life and a bunch of
[1:00:20] years to his career as well. Both.
[1:00:22] It's just by not playing him. Like I say to his life, because
[1:00:25] that was like not that was ridiculous cardiovascular
[1:00:28] exertion from him those like the under cargo that was
[1:00:30] unnecessary. Oh, it it's just so nice to see
[1:00:34] him not have to expend all his energy running up and down the
[1:00:36] pitch and then he can win duels and score and assist.
[1:00:40] I mean he was he had all involvement in both goals today,
[1:00:43] right? It was his through pass when Bob
[1:00:44] Bay for the score and then he scored the second one right.
[1:00:46] Like so like he he's an elite player man.
[1:00:50] Like to me, I mean, OK, I'm we're biased in Madrid podcast,
[1:00:53] but I think he's the best midfielder in award football,
[1:00:55] but bucket. Also Arda got unlucky, did not
[1:01:00] get that assist when I'm up, it was called offside.
[1:01:01] But great play from Arda to that whole sequence when our players
[1:01:05] are pressed from the front. We went long through, many heads
[1:01:08] it down, Arda gets it somewhere in the middle, plays it through.
[1:01:12] It was played offside, but that disallowed goal I thought was
[1:01:15] one of our best sequences of the game, just showing how we
[1:01:17] controlled things everywhere. And the yeah, I'm really happy
[1:01:21] with the energy management. And as some people in the
[1:01:23] comments point out, Edna Militao just got to talk about him so
[1:01:27] good. He looks like pink Sergio Ramos,
[1:01:30] but he just came off 2. AC LS.
[1:01:32] I'm so confused. I'm like, I know he has great
[1:01:34] genetics, but I just think this is a breakthrough moment in in
[1:01:38] the world. Like I just think he's an
[1:01:39] inspiration. Like anyone recovering from a
[1:01:41] second leg injury or even 1 should just look into a story
[1:01:44] because obviously he did something wrong that led to a
[1:01:46] second one. But now he's doing everything
[1:01:49] right on some level. Obviously like you don't get
[1:01:51] this the biggest game in club football.
[1:01:53] Like literally, if you told me and when he got hurt next
[1:01:56] October he's going to dominate the Classico, I would not have
[1:01:59] believed it. No, he was he was out of
[1:02:03] control. Tackles, ground duels won.
[1:02:05] Ariel duels won. Like he was just all over the
[1:02:08] place today like I am. Listen, we it's almost like a
[1:02:11] new signing, right? Because we were all like, can we
[1:02:14] count on Militao coming off A2 ACL?
[1:02:16] Like I don't know. And now it's like, Jesus Christ,
[1:02:18] if we don't have him, we're fucked, right?
[1:02:21] Like so he has been outstanding this season.
[1:02:25] Like, I mean, you can make an argument.
[1:02:26] You can make an argument that he is best center back in world
[1:02:29] football, top three. Like you can make that argument.
[1:02:32] He's top one question to you guys.
[1:02:35] He. Was in 2122 arguably the best on
[1:02:38] that stretch of winning the. Champions League.
[1:02:40] Yep, Yep, He was. He was because.
[1:02:42] This level is unusual for him. Is it?
[1:02:45] The circumstances are in 2 Acls this season.
[1:02:51] Literally have no preseason to begin with.
[1:02:56] I hope his wife. Is doing things.
[1:03:00] I'm I'm hoping he, him and some of the other guys can what do we
[1:03:04] have Villa real this weekend? We what do we have this weekend?
[1:03:07] We have somebody. Yeah.
[1:03:09] Valencia but fucking A and it was AV team.
[1:03:11] Can we can we rotate anybody out this weekend before?
[1:03:15] I know Liverpool's not playing well, but before we go to
[1:03:17] Anfield on Wednesday, I'll. Think you'll see plenty of
[1:03:20] rotations for that game. Wait, we, I, I don't know, we
[1:03:24] have a full week off. Traditionally when there's a
[1:03:26] week off, I don't know, like it, it's just we got a full week
[1:03:30] off. They might be like, just go play
[1:03:31] a couple games, take the international break.
[1:03:33] Another national break is coming.
[1:03:35] Yeah. So you're going.
[1:03:37] To get. I'll just say like, you look to
[1:03:41] rotate when you're in a tough stretch, when someone unexpected
[1:03:43] gets hurt, when you have a week off with an international break
[1:03:45] coming up. You look for reasons to get your
[1:03:47] starters more reps, I think. No doubt, I just worry about a
[1:03:50] guy like Militale because we rely on him so much coming off
[1:03:53] the two ACL. Like I don't want to overplay
[1:03:55] him this early in the season. Agreed.
[1:03:58] Since we're talking about energy, you know what What my
[1:04:00] fear is? The Lafunter was watching
[1:04:02] Carrera. I know fuck I know I know I know
[1:04:07] I know I but I hope his anti Real Madrid bias kicks in and he
[1:04:10] fucks up again and doesn't call him like I just please keep that
[1:04:14] going. One person I want to shout out
[1:04:16] again to Sid before you go. I thought Kemah Venga was great
[1:04:19] today. He we talked about him, Sid and
[1:04:24] Lecante and I said if this dude is healthy, what a fucking game
[1:04:28] changer he is because he you can't dribble past him.
[1:04:34] If you nick the ball off him he will just take it back from you.
[1:04:38] He's press resistant. Like way better than I think
[1:04:41] people realize. I just he is, he's outstanding.
[1:04:46] I thought he had a really, really good game in midfield
[1:04:49] today. The performance also amplified a
[1:04:54] lot when he was put like in double pivot.
[1:04:56] Once the sobs happen and he's on center and he can get the ball
[1:05:00] forward comfortably, what a volume.
[1:05:04] Like genuinely like Kamavi guys. Just I don't like when he has to
[1:05:08] run into space like a winger like we saw in a couple of
[1:05:11] times. I don't think he made for that.
[1:05:13] I feel like that's more of like a Volverde thing when Wolverde
[1:05:16] is a midfield. That's what I would like to see
[1:05:18] if Alberta do more. But if you're sitting there with
[1:05:21] so many. Yeah, good luck.
[1:05:24] Good luck getting anything through there.
[1:05:27] We have been talking about this pairing for a very long time,
[1:05:31] right? For a very long time.
[1:05:33] And we had this, don't want to say delusion, but it's kind of
[1:05:38] like a delusion of what would look like in Barcelona finally,
[1:05:46] or like, OK, so this is in there.
[1:05:49] This is the pivot from hell, basically from anything.
[1:05:52] Pivot from hell. This is what I want to call it.
[1:05:56] From hell, I love those guys. Question questions of the cast
[1:06:01] we got and I've been thinking on this.
[1:06:04] Did anyone see 2011 Mourinho in this Jabby performance?
[1:06:07] But the game has evolved too much to really do a straight
[1:06:10] comparison. But but I want to do a little
[1:06:14] breakdown here of the similarities and differences.
[1:06:16] I think defensively very unusually similar to the best of
[1:06:20] Mourinho and even Zidane with Zidane the mid block and like
[1:06:24] the ability to confidently defend deeper later in the game
[1:06:28] and the ability to just keep them out of your territory.
[1:06:30] In terms of Mourinho, the quick transitions, the desire to break
[1:06:35] them in transition. But the main difference is the
[1:06:38] that Militale set play man. That's not that's not Mourinho,
[1:06:41] that's all Alonso. I think that's the new thing.
[1:06:44] Alonso brings it because he understands that the way the
[1:06:47] game works, you need to find an advantage somewhere and if
[1:06:49] you're going to tell the team to not lose the ball, sometimes you
[1:06:52] need to give them solutions that are obvious.
[1:06:54] Mourinho would just tell them what to do.
[1:06:56] Zidane played very positionally and would give them solutions.
[1:06:59] He was a little more defensive. Alonzo seems slightly more
[1:07:02] creative offensively. Is that just me?
[1:07:07] I, I think you drew good parallel there.
[1:07:10] I think he looks a lot more like Zidane than he did on Morena,
[1:07:13] because Morena would have fallen immediately back into that low
[1:07:16] block. And just a little entries.
[1:07:18] How I imagine that Mourinho would have approached this.
[1:07:22] Not a bad thing, but he loved his transitions.
[1:07:24] He loved to create engage. That space wasn't always the
[1:07:29] worst, but I think that it has evolved too much.
[1:07:32] It felt a lot more like Sudan. OK, you don't need to.
[1:07:37] You didn't even push, but they were still pushing, right?
[1:07:40] There were sequence of it says on the 80th minute where they're
[1:07:44] pressing, right. It's not that it's not a team
[1:07:47] that's just waiting to be attacked.
[1:07:49] It's a team that is very much like, OK, bring it on at all
[1:07:53] times. So yeah, it's more of like a
[1:07:55] controlled chaos, I want to say. So more like a Zidan style of
[1:07:59] coaching? Perfect, perfect description.
[1:08:01] A little update for you guys because you know a Liga and all
[1:08:05] the post mass post match festivities, yellow cards to
[1:08:09] Vinnie, Rodrigo, Militao, Ferren, Torres, Balde and Fermi.
[1:08:13] Oh wow, 6 yellow cards. I at least it's three each side.
[1:08:16] I'll, I'll, I'll give them that. Yellow colors choose the game.
[1:08:20] Damn. That's funny.
[1:08:24] This would. Be Oh, Lunan.
[1:08:25] Lunan got a red card. What the what?
[1:08:28] Yeah, one in a. Red card, yes.
[1:08:30] Luna is it? During the game though, During
[1:08:33] that. You know, like what I well on
[1:08:36] the screen it's I saw it as a yellow.
[1:08:37] I just went into the the post and now it's saying red.
[1:08:40] Red. Yeah, you got a red.
[1:08:41] Listen, that's that's crazy. But listen, they were just
[1:08:45] trying to maybe get us more suspensions.
[1:08:47] Listen, if everyone gets suspended equally, we have a
[1:08:50] bench. They don't and their guys get
[1:08:51] hurt. So we win.
[1:08:52] If everyone's going to take the if we're doing attrition here,
[1:08:55] we got more than you. We got more money, we got more
[1:08:57] players, We got everything. All you guys got is Lamassia and
[1:08:59] child abuse. You guys got that child abuse
[1:09:01] going for you. You can.
[1:09:03] Do Jude in, in his post match presser, they asked him about
[1:09:07] his goal. He's like, oh, just a tap in.
[1:09:09] He's like, it's just a tap in, right?
[1:09:10] He's like, I'm lucky. Apparently that's what they say.
[1:09:13] Oh, I love that Jude's throwing that shit back out at me.
[1:09:18] This is my proof. To all of you who think athletes
[1:09:21] don't listen to the stuff that people say about them, I promise
[1:09:23] you they if they don't hear it directly themselves, somebody in
[1:09:27] their group tells them, oh, you know what so and so said about
[1:09:29] you, XYZ is the case, right? So they know, they know.
[1:09:33] Talk is cheap, he said also in his post Hala Madrid.
[1:09:36] Talk is cheap, you know, win a ring, then talk.
[1:09:38] You have zero rings. I don't count La Liga here.
[1:09:40] I'm a Champions League guy. We got six rings, we got two.
[1:09:43] In the last few years. We got more rings than the oil
[1:09:45] clubs. Win a ring, then talk.
[1:09:47] I really think, fine, he has a euro, I'll give him that.
[1:09:49] He has a ring. But man, cooking those national
[1:09:52] teams, bro, they're not like this, bro.
[1:09:54] There's no Real Madrid in national teams like we're we're
[1:09:56] the best. The national teams can't stack
[1:09:59] the deck with the best player at every position.
[1:10:01] Try and beat us and oh, man, listen, I just think we have
[1:10:04] better footballers. Yeah, yeah.
[1:10:09] Let's see how your Luis Velafuente does when he plays a
[1:10:11] Real club coach. Buddy, you're Louise.
[1:10:17] But what it's worth, Delafuente is actually one of the best
[1:10:20] national team coaches, probably like that possession play.
[1:10:23] They don't get that fluidity from too many national team
[1:10:25] coaches. But Tuco is one of the best
[1:10:27] coaches, knockouts, period. He will.
[1:10:30] Tuco is like for England what Alonzo was for us in this.
[1:10:33] OK. Good question for you guys, for
[1:10:34] both of you. If Tuco was coaching England in
[1:10:36] that Euro final last year, does England win?
[1:10:39] Yeah, yeah, for me. Yes.
[1:10:42] Even with the fatigue attackers, even though your mom was more
[1:10:45] fresh than Jude and Kane was tired, I still think they
[1:10:47] figured out because Tuco is like, remember what Bayern
[1:10:50] remember? They almost stole that 24 CL
[1:10:53] from with us, with Alfonso Davies.
[1:10:55] Like they they remember that as a season they could have won the
[1:10:57] title. They were 20 minutes from
[1:10:59] winning the title. So yeah.
[1:11:01] But listen, I think we should wrap it up here.
[1:11:05] That was a great win a very I think it wasn't like the result
[1:11:09] wasn't what we wanted in terms of comfort and lack of stress.
[1:11:12] Like even on the show, I could just feel a little bit of stress
[1:11:15] from the watch in the last 20 minutes still rebounding.
[1:11:17] But like all show, if you guys thought we were a little jittery
[1:11:20] man that couldn't get a chance heart attack because it was just
[1:11:22] too one and we slapped them and like this cannot end too too.
[1:11:24] That would have been a nightmare.
[1:11:25] I would not want to be on this show so.
[1:11:27] It would have been an undeserved win, an undeserved draw, because
[1:11:31] again, the underlying stats suggest that we were clearly the
[1:11:34] superior team. If you if you just look at and
[1:11:36] just rewatch the game, like look at the chances created, look at
[1:11:39] it's just just rewatch, right, Like we were the superior team
[1:11:43] it. Wasn't even a competition.
[1:11:46] Yeah, yeah, really quick everybody.
[1:11:48] Thank you for tuning in. Please like and subscribe.
