Jarod Hector, Loconte and Taalib break down the win over Valencia, Real Madrid's goals, Mbappe, Bellingham, Vinicius, Endrick and more.

## Transcript

[0:01] That music has been hitting hard lately for us.
[0:05] Hello, welcome to The Real Deal, a Real Madrid podcast with me.
[0:08] Gerard Hector, joined as always by La Conte and Talib after Real
[0:13] Madrid's four nil win over Valencia at the Bernabeu.
[0:16] What's up fellas? Yo, what's up?
[0:21] Pretty easy game, so that's pretty good.
[0:24] Lecate on Friday we talked about this.
[0:26] I said man, I just want like a three nail 4 nil win.
[0:30] No drama, just easy. We can get people rotated in and
[0:34] lo and behold, look what happened.
[0:39] Finally, Rayleigh. One game.
[0:41] That's all What? We asked one.
[0:46] I'm looking at the the the comment the chat here and as
[0:48] always, guys, thank you for watching the stream.
[0:49] Please like the video, please subscribe to the channel.
[0:52] Please share it with your friends.
[0:53] This is also going to be available on Apple and Spotify
[0:55] for the audio version only later if you want to listen back a
[0:59] comment here in the chat. A nice calm, professional
[1:01] performance, right? And sometimes it's all you want.
[1:03] You want your weekend, you want your team just play win, move on
[1:07] so we can get on with our lives and worry about the next match
[1:10] we have coming up. And that's what we saw, right?
[1:12] Talib, you came in and said just a nice com performance, no
[1:16] controversy. Yeah, easy game, especially in
[1:19] the first half. Madrid completely dominated this
[1:21] game. Valencia didn't really give
[1:24] anything in this game. They just sat back and Madrid
[1:28] dominated position and game was pretty much over in the by the
[1:32] end of first half. Oh yeah.
[1:33] And I mean, honestly, it could have been like 5 nil in the
[1:36] first half. I mean, we could have really put
[1:39] this game away. Should have.
[1:43] I mean, story of our lives with this club of the season, right?
[1:45] It's like the, the, the underlying we're like, come on
[1:47] man. You got so many shots.
[1:48] Little, little underlying metrics for everybody for this
[1:52] match. We had 65% of possession.
[1:54] We had a 2.8 XG to their .46. They had 35% possession.
[1:58] We created 4 big chances. They created none. 21 total
[2:02] shots. They had four.
[2:04] We had one Courtois saved. They had 77 corner kicks to 1.
[2:08] It it, it was just complete and utter domination, A team that
[2:11] looked like it wanted to let everybody know.
[2:13] Lecante, OK, you think because we beat Barcelona, we're going
[2:17] to come in and take our foot off the gas and not give a shit
[2:19] about Valencia. Now we're going to bury this
[2:21] team and show that we're ready and we have the right air of
[2:24] confidence as we head into Champions League on Tuesday.
[2:27] Yep. I mean, ultimately, paper on
[2:30] paper, Valencia stood no chance. Their form and everything,
[2:33] right? But there is one thing, they
[2:38] beat us at the Bernabeu last year after not having won an
[2:41] away game at all that season. So we have tendencies of doing
[2:45] that. Removing that completely was
[2:47] really a big thing and being that comfortable adds even more.
[2:51] They're kind of buggy team anyways and we know that.
[2:55] Yeah, I thought it was just again from the opening whistle
[3:00] and we'll talk about the line UPS.
[3:01] One change from the last match, Massanzuano back in the starting
[3:05] lineup. So Kama Venga started the the
[3:06] match on the bench. Looked like he might have to
[3:08] come in super early when Arda twisted his ankle and he was
[3:12] subbed off at halftime. And I think probably just out of
[3:15] extra precaution because we know that in any match, much less a
[3:19] big match coming up on Tuesday, Arda is an undisputed starter.
[3:22] So we can't afford to have him have any issues.
[3:25] And again, that opening half and Papa looks spry, We get the
[3:29] penalty, he scores, we go up 1, nothing.
[3:32] And then we see Le Conte. You know, one of the comments
[3:36] that I think people are wondering were can you play a
[3:39] midfield with Arda and Jude together, right?
[3:41] They're both kind of like this occupying the same space kind of
[3:45] thing. And it tends is that going to
[3:47] work? And I think as you and I always
[3:48] talk about, it's match up dependent, right?
[3:51] Against a team like Valencia, nobody needed to sit back with
[3:54] two of many because there was they weren't doing anything.
[3:57] So Arda and Jude could be higher up the pitch and we were totally
[3:59] fine. Yeah, I mean, it's mostly like a
[4:03] repetition of the way how they did the Warsaw, just a different
[4:06] team. This was more against a low
[4:07] block but or than Jude or perfect players actually have.
[4:12] As I said between the lines, both of them occupy the Zander
[4:16] racks and that allows Zimbabwe to just have a little bit more
[4:19] freedom and get higher quality of chances.
[4:22] You saw that once order went off at all time Papaya to drop a
[4:26] little bit more. So that was of course
[4:29] diminishing the quality of the chance.
[4:31] You mentioned the XG of the sort, which we have 2.2 at whole
[4:37] time and it only went to 2.8. I mean, I'm saying only as if,
[4:41] but this has become our norm. Not many teams do this, but our
[4:45] norm is that now. So Arden, Jude as far as it
[4:49] goes, especially for a classical Valencia, as good as they can
[4:53] be, literally as a tandem. Yeah, what did you see from
[4:56] them, Talib on the beach today? The energy, right?
[4:59] So again, what we saw in the basket game was dominating in
[5:04] terms of energy, getting to the ball first, lot of pressing.
[5:07] Jude, there's probably one of those players who's equal to two
[5:11] players on the pitch. So he he gives pretty much
[5:13] everything and it comes to pressing from the midfield.
[5:16] He takes the ball vertically moving forward.
[5:19] And then Winnie doesn't have to be the stand alone guy on the
[5:23] left side and just doing all the work trying to dribble plus
[5:25] press. That's where Jude really comes
[5:28] in connects with Winnie and I. I think Arda that that injury
[5:33] may be luckily that didn't get worse, but I think he had an
[5:38] excellent game also dictated to the game overall midfield was
[5:42] completely bossed by Real Madrid.
[5:44] I I don't see anything bad about today's game.
[5:47] It was completely pretty easy. Straightforward that first half
[5:51] was great. Jude gets the gets the pass art
[5:54] immediately makes that run right and and Jude sees him has his
[5:57] head up right. He's, and it's funny because
[6:00] again, we talked about this I think on the Friday show,
[6:02] Lecante, I don't know what it is about Guler that seemingly
[6:07] either teams don't think about him or it's Mbappe dragging
[6:11] people away. Arta kind of always finds
[6:14] himself with a little bit more space around him than most of
[6:17] the of the players in Madrid. So he gets in behind, Killian's
[6:20] got a guy on him, but Arta is able to get the ball and when
[6:23] the fullback finally closes down on him, he's able to get the
[6:26] pass off to Mbappe, who does a beautiful Bali Bali with his
[6:29] left hand. I thought that timing on Arta's
[6:31] Ramos is brilliant. I think he caught the defense
[6:33] napping. Yeah.
[6:35] I mean, one thing with Arta is the fact that he's level of IQ
[6:38] is really high. The fact that he's able to pick
[6:41] those pockets of space every single time.
[6:43] Let that be, as you said, freeing himself up as he
[6:46] understands the gravity of the other attacker or playing that
[6:50] pass because the defender has committed to him which is either
[6:55] way it's very dangerous and or that really makes a big case for
[6:58] himself as to why he's a starter and has been ever since the Club
[7:03] World Cup. There are still some issues with
[7:06] him like the over dribbling sometimes in deep areas which we
[7:09] saw but that can be phased out. What you can't really get from
[7:13] this team or any player on this team is orders level to be at
[7:18] every single moment and into any switch of momentum.
[7:23] I would really want to say. Yeah, he does a really good job
[7:26] of making himself available for his teammates at all times,
[7:29] right? To either get them out of
[7:30] trouble, receive present often, as you mentioned, in a space
[7:32] where, oh look, I have space here released to me, right?
[7:35] Like your point about his reading the game.
[7:37] That's one of the things that pro players in any sport, right
[7:41] at the youth level, you play right, you play the game.
[7:44] The preternatural people like Arta, they read the game right
[7:47] because they understand where movements are happening, where
[7:50] my opportunities are, where we can take advantage, where we can
[7:53] have a numerical superiority. And he's really, really good at
[7:57] that. And again, to your point, he has
[8:00] made himself indispensable, right?
[8:02] I cannot. It's funny, the whole thing this
[8:05] season was, oh, people, I mean, not us.
[8:07] But there was the talk was we're unsure Arctic can play in big
[8:09] matches. I'm like, well, there's no
[8:10] sample size. How do you know if he can play
[8:12] in big matches when he's barely played in any?
[8:14] Well, now we have a good enough sample size, right?
[8:16] I think that correct. Good.
[8:17] Time. It's not reactionary, God
[8:19] forbid. Yeah, What helps also is
[8:21] compared to last season, we have players playing very close to
[8:24] each other. So you have a nice line, you
[8:26] have players passing, if we lose the ball, they counter, press
[8:29] very quickly, get the ball back, and then you have two players
[8:32] coming closer, helping each other out.
[8:34] So I think Jude being there with Arda, it's just that makes it
[8:39] even easier for Arda to move forward.
[8:41] They're a nice complement to each other, an excellent,
[8:43] excellent compliment. And again, it's just it's how
[8:47] Tabby is deploying them tactically.
[8:49] Before we get to the third goal, I want to talk about Benny, who
[8:51] I thought even though he didn't score today, I thought he had a
[8:53] very good game. Again, protagonist.
[8:57] I'm sure he had another six touch carries into the penalty
[9:00] area, like increasing his lead in that, like we talked about it
[9:04] the last year, right, Lecante, he leads everybody across all 5
[9:07] leagues by three, three times as much as a second place person.
[9:09] He didn't do anything different today in that regard.
[9:12] You know, what I actually liked, especially at the beginning, was
[9:16] the fact that we were trying some new tactical set up.
[9:18] Like we tried that new thing of a dribble, a pass on the wide,
[9:22] and then we were trying to hit either Valverde or Masantuano on
[9:27] the flag. The passes from Vini were most
[9:31] of the time over hit or under hit, like they weren't weighted
[9:35] properly. But this was the first time that
[9:37] we're actually seeing it on the bench.
[9:39] So to add more to that level of creativity, that is something
[9:43] that they're working on now and we're going to see more of it.
[9:46] And this also goes to the other point, which was or than Jude
[9:49] being like the two number 10s, if we really want to call them,
[9:52] but his gravity and ability to get defenders with him, that
[9:56] will always open space. And Alonzo has noted that and
[10:00] he's trying to make use of it. I think that's why he started my
[10:02] Santuana. He wanted somebody that's going
[10:04] to make more runs of the ball and give the team a little bit
[10:08] of a match. I really like the fact that
[10:10] today we had two inverted full backs, but one was high and one
[10:14] was low. Carreras was very low to form
[10:17] that three at back if we really want, and Valverde was mostly
[10:21] playing like a matricular for of yourself which added that extra
[10:25] body. But this doesn't happen and
[10:28] doesn't work if Franco Mastantuano for time being on
[10:31] this squad is not on the pitch. That's worth noting because he
[10:34] seemingly has the only physical profile to be able to deal with
[10:38] that kind of load. Yeah, yeah.
[10:41] And look, it's no, no coincidence, right, that he was
[10:43] immediately put back into the starting lineup today.
[10:47] It'll be interesting to see what Chubby Launcher does.
[10:49] And Tuesday at Enfield, so we'll get to that.
[10:52] The third goal, Bellingham, the as many of the, you know, anti
[10:56] mantra DS like to say about him, the tapping merchant.
[10:59] I didn't look like a tapping to me folks.
[11:01] That was outside the penalty area.
[11:05] Once again, Bellingham just showing.
[11:07] I mean, why he's the best midfielder in the world, right?
[11:10] Like just he has incredible technical skill.
[11:13] I was great, hard, low shot goalie had no chance really at
[11:17] that point. Once it was 3, nothing.
[11:18] I was like honestly asking, OK, are we going to rotate who?
[11:22] Who are we rotating everybody out?
[11:23] Who's getting rest to start the second-half?
[11:26] Yeah, so I think that was like 5 lines of Jude Magic from the
[11:31] left hand side, right, like just with his right foot, perfect
[11:35] shot to the corner of the goal. I think.
[11:38] Couldn't have anybody, couldn't have done it better than him.
[11:41] Oh, yes, and a shout out to Valverde for an excellent switch
[11:43] to play to get to get it over to to Jude to do that.
[11:46] Yeah. I mean, this is what we saw Jude
[11:47] do two years ago, right? Basically every match, right,
[11:50] Just come down on that left side, get onto his right foot
[11:52] and just bury it bottom, bottom, bottom corner.
[11:56] We saw some changes at halftime, right?
[12:00] We had true Manny come off because he had the yellow.
[12:02] I thought nice for him to get a little bit of rest too with with
[12:06] the big match coming up on ample.
[12:08] We talked about Arda coming off as well because the ankle, they
[12:10] wanted to be careful about this. We had Sabios and Kemah Vinga
[12:14] come on and replace for them. And to your point, Lecante, just
[12:19] two things, right? Without Arda, the chance
[12:22] creation wasn't as great, but we still kind of bossed that
[12:26] midfield area, right? In terms of controlling
[12:28] possession, right? Again, Valencia didn't really do
[12:32] anything and couldn't really do anything, right?
[12:35] And this is an area I think for our players like Akama Vinga and
[12:39] was mentioned on the on the broadcast, which we all know
[12:41] here, he's still only 22. Is there an area of his game
[12:45] where he can improve? And it's when there's an
[12:47] opportunity, gets the ball in spaces where he can actually can
[12:50] advance forward, right? And maybe shoot it, maybe Pat,
[12:53] right, like just getting a little bit more reps in those
[12:56] areas, Lecante, so he's able to create chances for us from the
[13:00] midfield position. Yeah, but Jude passed on Bobby
[13:03] and Al Classic, for example. He had that opportunity to do
[13:06] the same thing, but he took that extra touch.
[13:09] Of course, Kamalinga again suffers from a lot of positional
[13:13] changes, different roles, so we got to give it time, but you
[13:17] would hope that that's going to come with time.
[13:21] And also one other thing that I'm really loving is the fact
[13:24] that Alonzo doesn't see him as a sitting defensive midfielder,
[13:27] but actually puts a BIOS in with him and went like, you can run
[13:30] riot here because I know you can do a bit of everything not
[13:34] stagnating him and I love that. Yeah, absolutely.
[13:37] What did you see from Kama Binga Talib?
[13:40] I think Kama Binga, he didn't have to make too many tackles
[13:45] because Madrid pretty much dominated the precision, right,
[13:47] 65% I think was 28% of Valencia right.
[13:51] So he he wasn't that that ball beating midfielder.
[13:55] He just had to play with Sabios and I think Sabios did most of
[14:00] the work. I think that that kind of took
[14:02] the pressure off Kama Binga in the middle.
[14:04] So he just he did his normal thing.
[14:07] He passed the ball nicely horizontally, not too many
[14:11] vertical runs or vertical passes.
[14:13] So that was again Jude being there doing Jude thing right.
[14:16] So I I think normal 7 out of 10 game for Kamalinga, nothing
[14:21] extraordinary but doing the true or mini roll a little bit trying
[14:27] to get the ball back when they lose it.
[14:30] Were you guys surprised that Jabi went for hoist?
[14:35] I'm sorry, housing off instead of Militao?
[14:38] I thought he'd go for Militao first as he's the one coming up.
[14:41] I mean, they're both coming off injury, but Militao being older
[14:44] and two Acls, that would be the one I would lean towards and up
[14:48] first. But I mean, listen, Javi knows
[14:49] more about football than I do, so whatever.
[14:52] I, I would have hoped for Trent coming in, getting some minutes
[14:54] fulfilling. I mean, that's what I was.
[14:56] Expecting we're going to get let's get to that now.
[14:58] I was surprised Trent got no minutes, which to me tells me
[15:02] he's not playing at Anfield on Tuesday.
[15:04] I how can that be his first match, right?
[15:06] Like that's just. Like if he got injured against
[15:11] Marseille on that level of intensity then think of a game
[15:14] against Liverpool at Anfield. To me might be a tactical move
[15:22] to get him out of international break.
[15:24] Two more games and you're in survival.
[15:27] Could be that you lost cover all already for roughly 2 months
[15:33] roughly in and out. It's two months.
[15:35] So yes, I think that it could be a tactical move where you go
[15:38] like wait 2 hole is going to call Bellingham right?
[15:42] Least they could do here. Risk Protect.
[15:43] Trent keep Trent so it so so Trent gets to do what you did
[15:46] last break, which is OK. I don't get to go, but I will
[15:48] train hard for these two weeks and be ready come once we come
[15:52] out of the break. Yeah, that's yeah, yeah, yeah,
[15:54] yeah. Madrid being smart.
[15:55] I mean, this is what you got to do.
[15:57] I I don't know how Fede is going to get replaced by Trent,
[16:00] because Fede has been pretty amazing.
[16:02] I think he, he, him being at right back, you know, he's got
[16:06] that speed to cut off defenders. He he does, he gets the ball
[16:10] first. So I don't know if Trent is that
[16:11] athletic as Fede. I don't think so.
[16:15] So, yeah, definitely not fast. So again, it's tough teams.
[16:18] I think with no Carbajal, I don't know who's going to start
[16:23] Fede or Trent. I think it's going to be Fede
[16:24] anyway. Let me, let me let me pull up
[16:26] our schedule after after the break to see.
[16:28] Yeah, there are 5 away games, starting with Liverpool Ryo.
[16:32] Next week it's Anfield, Ryo, it's LJ Olympiacos and then we
[16:39] go back. We're back in Bernabeu now in
[16:42] December. Yep. 4th of December, correct?
[16:46] Yeah. So, you know, and that'll be
[16:48] interesting, right? LJ, Olympiacos and Girona all
[16:52] away when we come out of the the international break.
[16:55] So that will be interesting, right?
[16:56] To see what Chavi Alonzo does what Where does Trek fit in?
[17:00] Hirona game is actually just to add, Hirona game is breaking the
[17:03] protocol. It's 72 hours post the other
[17:07] game and you're not allowed to do that.
[17:09] You're right, yes. Breaking the protocol.
[17:12] It is. It is.
[17:12] It is. Yes, Yes, you are correct.
[17:15] Wow. Well, I mean, it's La Liga,
[17:18] right? Like, what?
[17:20] Are we surprised? I thought it was just
[17:22] interesting to bring it up because it's so far away from
[17:25] now, but it's still breaking a protocol regardless and they
[17:28] knew that for a very long time. Classic La Liga nonsense, right?
[17:32] Like always. That second-half again, for me,
[17:37] there wasn't a whole lot to say there.
[17:40] What I will say is this, I do think Ascencio has put himself
[17:45] back into good graces, for lack of a better term, right where
[17:50] job is like, OK, I trust you again, what happened in the Club
[17:53] World Cups over? And that's important for us
[17:55] because with the match fixtures and with the injuries we already
[17:59] have, I don't I still know the timeline on Aliba and Rudiger to
[18:02] return. We're going to need a sense to
[18:04] you to give Militao and and Hausen some rest here because we
[18:09] know House is getting called up for Spain 1000%.
[18:15] Little with Brazil, very like. What I'll say is Ascentio was
[18:19] great. That duel on Danjuma was
[18:22] excellent. He knew how to plant his food,
[18:25] how to shape his body. What I didn't like though, is
[18:28] him turning his back on get us shot, which almost resulted in
[18:32] the goal. Look, I'll say this crime rule
[18:35] of football, that pain that you're going to feel when the
[18:37] ball hits you, it's going to last like a minute at most.
[18:41] The pain if you concede in a goal and it being your fault
[18:44] last for much longer, especially in lower margins.
[18:48] So I don't like seeing that at any point.
[18:50] I don't care about the score line.
[18:51] So I'll that's a good point. Yeah, he's, he's not going to
[18:54] start any of the big games, so he's probably going to do get
[18:57] some rest with some of the smaller teams.
[18:59] But the big test I think for Dean and also for Ascencio when
[19:03] it comes to big opponents who, you know, we saw that athletic
[19:06] game right when when there was ball coming in aerially and
[19:10] that's where we struggled. So I think Dean and Ascencio
[19:13] need to probably face some of these kind of games and then
[19:17] that's a real test. So who's going to Militao is
[19:20] super. He's back.
[19:22] He's back best. So you know, we know who can
[19:24] bust him even against Liverpool. I'm I'm a little worried the way
[19:30] Liverpool plays corners free kicks with against Van Dyke, you
[19:35] know, at the back. I'm I'm just little going to be
[19:37] concerned on the beans start, even though I know he's he's
[19:42] biggest straw but can have this limitations when it come to your
[19:45] abilities. Yeah, and we'll talk about
[19:47] Liverpool in a second. I want to talk about Endrick
[19:50] briefly. It was short minutes, not a ton,
[19:53] but man, he showed some pace drawing that yellow card.
[19:58] The stuff that you were talking about preseason Laconte, you're
[20:00] like, I want to see him. And it's just, it's just a
[20:03] matter of bro, like you're playing behind the best player
[20:05] in the world. So who's almost never going to
[20:07] get subbed off. So you're probably not going to
[20:09] get to play right. And it's clear that choppy's not
[20:13] going to put him on the right side right as a right winger.
[20:15] So your only options are going to be to play right, right.
[20:19] Like you're you're it's to play behind.
[20:20] It's play the 9 role, which again, and Papa is rarely going
[20:25] to get subbed off rarely. So this is the reality, but.
[20:30] It's TBD what Javi decides to do with him.
[20:33] I think because of the Subs he could have not taken Vini out
[20:38] and then taken Franco Mon Santuano out and basically
[20:42] there's your right wing input. But.
[20:44] Over there. I think he was caring way too
[20:47] much about the Anfield game to the point where I find it hard
[20:50] to draw a conclusion here. But on positive note, his
[20:53] physical levels looked incredible.
[20:55] The pressing, the fact that he was still holding the fenders
[20:58] off. Like when was the last time he's
[21:00] played? Like some months ago now?
[21:02] Did you something like that? He was injured in the World Cup.
[21:05] It's been a long time. It's almost like, and I forgot
[21:09] how strong he is in that, in that the base, like it's you,
[21:13] it's you know what you're talking about.
[21:14] Like it's easy to bump Art off the ball.
[21:16] Well, it ain't easy to bump Endrick out of a spot.
[21:18] Like he can hold people off because he is very strong from
[21:22] the waist down, like extremely strong.
[21:24] And that pace, he looks so quick.
[21:26] I was like, man, Jabi, can we find a way to get this man some
[21:29] minutes please? He's.
[21:31] Not bit taller. He's your he.
[21:36] He's not very mobile. So I think that's where the
[21:39] problems when you're playing against this mid low block, he
[21:42] kind of stays in the front. And I noticed that unless if
[21:46] it's a counter attacking play, then yeah, Enrique can run and
[21:50] pretty much beat anybody on pace, right.
[21:52] So we need to see him play against low block, be more
[21:56] agile, be more mobile at the front, trying to come back and
[22:00] get the ball. So we play, players play very
[22:04] closely in this team. So Enrique I think needs to
[22:07] adapt that game against open teams like Valencia today,
[22:12] right? I think that was a counter
[22:13] attacking play when Henrique was running, right?
[22:17] He, he will get his chances. But other than that, I think he
[22:20] even last season he wasn't moving that much on the pitch.
[22:23] And that's what I thought, maybe he needs to do a little bit
[22:25] more. Like that comes with time,
[22:28] right? Like sadly, he needs playing
[22:30] time to get better at that end. I don't know when that's going
[22:33] to happen. So it'll it'll it'll be
[22:34] interesting to see is what happens come January, the
[22:36] January transfer window, right? Are the reports that have been
[22:40] circulating around in fact true when he gets to and he goes to
[22:44] Leon or does Chubby say no? With Copa del Rey and all this
[22:47] stuff coming up, I see opportunities for you to play
[22:51] right. And I think, you know,
[22:53] ultimately, because I think the club's obviously believes in him
[22:55] and wants him to be a part of what they do.
[22:58] They wouldn't have invested the money otherwise.
[23:01] But a player like him, in order for him to get better and get
[23:04] certain things out of his game, he needs minutes, right?
[23:06] He he has to get on the pitch. And in a weird way, Leon
[23:09] probably works because I think they're second in league on
[23:12] right now behind PSG. So it puts you in the team
[23:15] that's in a title race in theory, right?
[23:17] Like you'll get minutes like that could be very beneficial
[23:20] for him. So we'll see.
[23:21] It's let's put it this way, if he starts for Leon, that's way
[23:24] better than you don't know if you're getting 300 minutes this
[23:27] year at Real Madrid, right? It's just way, way better for
[23:30] him. Yeah.
[23:32] I mean, they're gonna have to decide on the loan whether it's
[23:36] the right move or not. Maybe the training ground here
[23:39] just helps him more than the minutes there Maybe.
[23:42] But again, he's he's going to need to know at the very least
[23:45] that he's going to get something out of the same and he's not
[23:48] going to be left just wondering what's going to happen with his
[23:50] minutes every single game. And by yeah, and by now, by now
[23:56] we know Zabi's starting 11 plus who's the Subs who's are going
[24:01] to come in, right. So when you the starting 11 is
[24:04] just as a much higher quality in terms of pretty much everyone
[24:09] playing to Zabi's tactics. So when you have and then you
[24:12] have Subs like let's say Kama, Winga, Rodrigo, Brian, Yeah.
[24:19] So pretty high standard, you know, and it's hard to get into
[24:24] that zombies mix, right. So I think I don't see much.
[24:30] Media look at look at Club World Cup hero Gonzalo Garcia, how
[24:34] many minutes he had this year. I was going to say that he's
[24:36] he's he disappeared again, right?
[24:38] So again, that that space of quality linking to his tactics,
[24:43] I think it's maybe that's what that they need to adapt to
[24:46] Zombie's tactics more and that's what players have done and
[24:49] that's improved them. Yeah, all right, let's look
[24:54] ahead to Tuesday at Anfield. So the players will have 4872
[25:01] hours really before they play, I believe, Chubby said.
[25:06] They're going to train at Ball de Bay Bus and then go to
[25:08] England as opposed to flying to England and training there.
[25:12] Pros and cons for that. But sure keeps keeps you out of
[25:14] the London whatever and you stay home.
[25:16] And then we get there and we just go to the hotel and then we
[25:18] show up with the pitch, do our little walkthrough and then we
[25:20] play Liverpool. I never want to say a
[25:25] professional team throws a match, but what I saw in the
[25:29] Caribou Cup on whatever weekday it was, I was like, what the
[25:33] hell is this garbage, right? Like it just threw out some
[25:35] lineup that I'd never seen before that got waxed.
[25:38] So I was like, oh, you really don't care about that match.
[25:40] OK, They played today against Aston Villa, 1-2 nil.
[25:45] I think Solid scored today. And look, despite their play in
[25:50] Premier League, this is still one of the top clubs in the
[25:53] world. It is a Champions League match
[25:56] away. This is not going to be an easy
[25:59] walk over. So let's share some.
[26:00] We do have a by the way, I don't want to step on Sid's toes.
[26:03] We have a a Liverpool preview with Josh Williams up on the
[26:05] site. You guys check it out.
[26:07] But early thoughts Lecante on going into this matchup against
[26:11] Liverpool. One time field is never easy,
[26:14] and it's not going to be easier this time around.
[26:17] I think we're equipped to handle it doesn't necessarily mean
[26:21] we're going to be able to fully handle everything, she said.
[26:24] The decision of the train there is a little bit weird.
[26:28] I don't really know the full context of it, but I don't see a
[26:34] big curveball being thrown to Liverpool for some reason.
[26:38] So yeah, not an easy game by any means.
[26:42] I think that you're going to face a very physical game.
[26:45] I'm not going by the trope, I just think how Liverpool play,
[26:48] they're very physical. So they're going to test your
[26:51] energy levels, your press, your low block, they're going to test
[26:54] you in every single thing. So you need to be there.
[26:57] Can you beat them? Yes, but you actually need to be
[27:00] there and you can't clock off. Do you think we basically start
[27:04] the Barsa 11? Let's start against Barsa in
[27:07] that match. Yes.
[27:10] What about Utah? Yeah, I think probably no
[27:14] Massentuno. So I just want to talk about
[27:16] Massentuno. I know he ran a lot today, but
[27:18] didn't didn't provide too much in attack.
[27:20] So I don't know if he's going to play Liverpool game.
[27:22] So he's he played 90 minutes, right so.
[27:25] Yeah, he's not starting Liverpool.
[27:26] Yeah, I got it. I think Raheem probably on the
[27:28] on the right side, probably coming back.
[27:31] Or does he do Kamalavinga again like he did in the Barsa match?
[27:36] So he goes Gulaire, Bellingham, Trumani and Kamavinga and
[27:41] Belvarde right back and Yep. I think you need, yeah, yeah, I
[27:47] think maybe because you need Kamavinga to break up the play,
[27:50] right, Liverpool's. If Liverpool is dominating in
[27:52] the midfield, you need some way to break it up.
[27:54] We need our Monstars. Yeah, in that physical match.
[27:57] We lost two nil last season, right, if I remember, and that
[28:00] was Liverpool was much better than us last season.
[28:03] So I think right, Zimbabwe, I think.
[28:07] Yeah, yes. So I think there's something
[28:11] little bit of a comeback revenge game in the minds of Real
[28:14] Madrid. I think so.
[28:15] I and we are so much better than last season in terms of
[28:18] pressing, in terms of tactics, in terms of synergy between the
[28:22] players or I have a good feeling about the Liverpool game.
[28:26] Well, no doubt Jabi's already watched Liverpool and he has a
[28:29] tactical idea of how he wants Madrid to attack them, to take
[28:32] advantage, right? It's I have no doubt that's
[28:35] already been done. And so it's about now when he
[28:38] goes to the board. This is how we're going to do it
[28:40] tomorrow and or Tuesday, I guess they might be off tomorrow, but
[28:43] they might just do walkthrough tomorrow and then Tuesday do
[28:46] like actually on the pitch because you know, we don't have
[28:48] that. It's not that much time between
[28:50] between the between the game. Sunday.
[28:52] Monday is really all we have. The only thing maybe I'm worried
[28:55] is the Anfield crowd when it comes to some of these young
[28:59] players like Dean and maybe Arda.
[29:03] Maybe it'll. Be loud.
[29:05] Yeah, it'll be loud. There'll be again.
[29:07] Remember against we haven't lost in every game this season,
[29:11] right? I'll be.
[29:12] Yeah, Athletic was away. Yeah, I was going to say that.
[29:14] So, yeah, sorry, athletic, right?
[29:16] So that was a a complete shit show, right.
[29:19] So I don't want that that crowd to dominate the, you know, the
[29:22] minds of some of these players. So that's the only concern I
[29:24] have. Why?
[29:26] You look, Dante. I mean crowd does play a part
[29:31] but these guys are playing literally on a roofed closed
[29:35] stadium so the noise inside the Burnabel I think gets them ready
[29:39] for that. The the reason why I went with
[29:42] the 11 of the AL Clasico is the fact that Liverpool don't want
[29:46] to be stretched on the left side at all like Mill of Carquets
[29:50] which we have seen and also Cody Gagpo.
[29:53] Who are there two starters? I would assume maybe he goes
[29:57] with Isaac and the Kitika, I'm not sure.
[30:00] I think isn't Isaac hurt still? Did he I?
[30:03] Don't know, I think he's fed OK. I just don't think he's
[30:05] starting. I when I say fit I mean like not
[30:09] carrying an injury but not necessarily the most mass fit
[30:13] that he can be due to lack of pre season and all of that.
[30:16] But the reason why I go, I just think that Liverpool are way too
[30:21] narrow of the left, so there isn't a much of A fear of that
[30:26] overlap hitting on you. So you just go more narrow, try
[30:31] to stop their basketball progressor we should be
[30:34] McAllister and you go from there basically.
[30:37] So yeah. We have Cocoy on the chat saying
[30:41] Esac wasn't even on the bench today, so yeah, who knows.
[30:44] OK, I apologize. I'm just looking at today's line
[30:48] up. There was only one substitution
[30:50] made for Liverpool. That was words coming in for
[30:56] Ekteke, such pronunciation, but so everybody pretty much played
[31:01] 90 minutes except, you know, so except one player.
[31:04] Yeah, and and, you know, John Spaniel and Chad mentioned one
[31:07] more stop on the revenge tour on Tuesday.
[31:09] Yeah. I mean, you know, look, players
[31:11] remember this stuff, right? No doubt Madrid remembered
[31:13] Barcelona handing it to them four times last season and went
[31:16] into this class with a point to prove.
[31:17] No doubt they remember getting humbled by Liverpool at Anfield
[31:21] last year and want to reverse the trend and keep up their
[31:24] streak of like, hey, you guys say we're not ready for big
[31:26] games, right? Like, we're going to show you
[31:28] we're ready for big games, right?
[31:29] So the guys are going to want to win this for sure.
[31:32] And I think their mindset again, because we talked about it since
[31:35] athletic, they, they were embarrassed and I and they, they
[31:39] know it and they felt it and they were like, look, we cannot
[31:41] show up to matches like this again.
[31:42] We're going to lose again. As Javi said right after the
[31:45] club, the PSG lost the sad part as we know we're going to lose
[31:48] again. And that's fine.
[31:49] You can't win every match, but you cannot lose it in the manner
[31:52] in which you lost that match with people just giving up and
[31:54] being like, fuck it, whatever, doing our own thing, right?
[31:56] So I think the mindset for sure will be there on Tuesday really
[32:00] quick. I wanted to go back to the match
[32:02] and I forgot to mention this. So when we when we drew the
[32:05] second penalty on Carreras, Vinnie got the penalty and Boppy
[32:10] let Vinnie take it. To me, I didn't care it it
[32:14] didn't bother me. Like the reason why I'm bringing
[32:17] it up is I feel like if there's anything that mainstream media
[32:19] is going to use this week to try to stir shit up, that's that's
[32:23] the only thing they can do right is say, oh, did Chabi Alonzo say
[32:26] it was OK for Vinny to give him from Boppy to give Vinny the
[32:28] penalty shot? But to me, I didn't care.
[32:30] It was what it was. Nice gesture by him, Boppy.
[32:33] Yeah, to be honest, he was on a hat trick.
[32:36] I understand why cheer him up. Probably expected to celebrate
[32:40] with him. Didn't go all that way.
[32:43] I would have said let him up. Take it being personal.
[32:46] It's it's, it's just game over and that.
[32:52] I was, I'm not very happy with penalties this season.
[32:55] There's somebody missing at least one or two penalties, so I
[32:58] wasn't sure. Even if I'm Bapa scored, he's
[32:59] going to score that penalty. And.
[33:02] Then I was like OK, what is going to score this?
[33:04] But no. You know, we we're not great,
[33:07] right? We don't have that like 90%
[33:09] taker on the scene, right? And Bob is like mid 80s.
[33:11] I want to say right, like we're just not quite there, but you
[33:15] know, that'll be that as me. Oh, and I also want to shout out
[33:19] Carreras. What a hellitzer, that fourth
[33:22] goal. Oh man, did that have pace dip
[33:25] upper corner. I was like, can you do this all
[33:28] the time, Carreras? Oh my God, please shoot more if
[33:31] that's in your if that's in your bag.
[33:35] The slow motion of that goal is just beautiful because he's just
[33:38] looking at the corner and he got like Robert Carlos.
[33:42] I know that he scored three goals.
[33:44] This was the first one for us. Damn, that was a beautiful goal.
[33:48] Really good. It was great.
[33:51] Listen. And you know, it felt so good
[33:53] for him, like he loved it. His first goal in Madrid shirt.
[33:57] Jude was so excited coming over to I guess you could just, you
[33:59] know, the first one, everybody's, everybody's happy
[34:01] for you. But that if that's in his
[34:03] arsenal, look, yeah, let's do it, my man.
[34:06] I love it. We already love what he can do
[34:09] on that side, carrying the ball forward.
[34:10] And and again, Carreras is only 22.
[34:12] And I think Le Conte, he can get better, right?
[34:15] Like there are areas of his game that he can improve and develop
[34:18] like into like elite quality. So we this team is so young.
[34:23] The average age is 25 1/2. We're either the youngest or
[34:27] second youngest team in La Liga. Like that's outstanding.
[34:31] Like it's the future's bright here in Madrid.
[34:34] Yeah, I mean, every player really has an upside still and
[34:39] that would even include him, Bob, It was some of the shots
[34:42] and what he's taking. There is still an area tiny bit
[34:46] that he can just get better on, but Carrera seems to have a bit
[34:51] to go with his development so far.
[34:54] Like he's been a steady and as important as we could have ever
[34:58] expected from a lab back to be. So I know and how long we have
[35:01] been crying for that. Now.
[35:03] What was interesting today, Mindy was on bench, not even
[35:06] considered. Well, I mean, gosh, Mindy's
[35:11] still on this team and I think he's got a contract through so
[35:13] 2027, if I'm not mistaken. And it's like, well, if you're
[35:18] not, what are you going to do? We're going to sell.
[35:19] I mean, can this guy play like what?
[35:22] What we got to do something here?
[35:23] He's someone, you know, you mentioned when we were looking
[35:25] at rotations, we got to get Carrera some rest.
[35:28] I don't know when it's going to happen.
[35:30] Oh, Fran. Clearly Fran has fallen out of
[35:32] favor or I don't like he just, he gets no run basically a
[35:36] little bit here and there, but nothing substantial.
[35:40] The the the few players was kind of went down the picking out
[35:44] right Gonzalo Garcia, Rodrigo Fran Mendy was been hasn't been
[35:49] there for a long time. But Carreras maybe defensively
[35:54] not, you know, not against Laminium, but I think that
[35:57] that's pretty much covered. But against we need to see a
[36:02] little bit more on his defensive performance, how he defends when
[36:06] he when you're getting attacked. I think offensively he's superb.
[36:11] That's where Mendy comes in, right.
[36:12] Mendy against tough teams used to be a pretty solid rock at the
[36:16] back, right? He would nobody could go past
[36:18] and he used. One-on-one.
[36:20] And he uses his upper body to shield players, right, to block
[36:23] play. I think maybe that's what
[36:25] Carreras, I think might be tested in the future against
[36:29] tough, tough players, Tough, tough strikers know who's got
[36:33] that body strength to push you down.
[36:35] Maybe that's the test for Carreras.
[36:38] Well, we'll see right at Anfield, right?
[36:41] And we, they they've got some some pacey wingers and some guys
[36:44] who've got some skill right. So we'll see.
[36:46] We'll see how how that all. Went up Frank Pong fits.
[36:51] Was he on the bench today? Frank Pong?
[36:52] Did he play? No, he, he wasn't there.
[36:54] He's out. Yeah, they might be.
[36:58] They're look, they're a wounded team, right?
[36:59] Like as many people are dealing with injuries.
[37:01] I mean, so are we, right? We're all, nobody's crying for
[37:03] anybody. Everybody's got injuries deal
[37:05] with. Look, you show up with the guys
[37:06] you have and these are all pros and they're going to, they're
[37:10] going to play hard, right? They're going to, they're going
[37:12] to try to win, right? They're going to have the home
[37:13] crowd, why they're going to be feeling good at Enfield.
[37:15] So we have to come with with the right mindset.
[37:19] What do you think about? Every time we feel like we're
[37:21] putting the squad together, it just breaks somewhere.
[37:23] We have two right backs finally back fit and we can finally
[37:26] start to rotate the midfield. And actually, Nope, Charva
[37:30] Hawkins are always held again. What what do you guys think of
[37:34] midfield battle next? Next game, the Adenburg and
[37:38] McAllister, these guys, they. Well, there's certainly better
[37:42] technical quality than anybody on Valencia, right?
[37:44] I mean, so there's that. But honestly, I again, if our
[37:49] four Monstars start and I, yes, I know Valverde's playing as a
[37:53] right back, but if those four guys athletic, I'm I'm not
[37:56] worried about that. I I think we'll be fine in the
[37:58] midfield if they'll if those guys start, which I believe they
[38:00] will. Yeah.
[38:03] I'm not going to sound, I'm like it's ridiculous.
[38:06] For now, Florian versus it's probably the biggest danger for
[38:10] us because of how he moves and how he Shields the ball.
[38:13] I know that he hasn't been perfect for Liverpool.
[38:15] I don't think their usage of him is perfect.
[38:17] I don't think he fits the whole scheme.
[38:20] But if it's a one off and you're going to pick a player that
[38:22] you're going to really struggle against, it's probably going to
[38:25] be Florian words. And he, he, he got some rest
[38:29] today, right? He started on the bench.
[38:31] So no doubt Arne Schlott was like, all right, we got.
[38:34] AI just think it doesn't what they're trying to do.
[38:36] Oh, you think slots looks like? Why don't we spend money on this
[38:39] dude? I don't.
[38:39] Play is just a benefit for the same right now.
[38:45] They spent a lot of money on words, man A. 100 million.
[38:48] I mean what the No I I? Think.
[38:53] Given a time, you get better. I think to Premier League is a
[38:57] tough, tough league, man. It's like it's physical and he
[39:00] needs that. He needs to adapt right for that
[39:03] game. So probably, we'll see, probably
[39:05] him getting better I think. I mean, as we always say, like
[39:08] Conte, it's a little bit of everything, right?
[39:10] It's adaptation to a new league. It's news.
[39:12] So when you watch words in this Liverpool system, like if you
[39:17] had to break it down and you say is it more just him and just the
[39:19] Premier League or is it more it's the style they play, It's
[39:22] not really suiting him best. It doesn't suit him, it's not
[39:27] the league by any means. Like I'm going to stand firm on
[39:31] this. Just get him to the right team,
[39:33] send him to Manchester City and you're going to see a completely
[39:35] different player. And the Schlaud just doesn't
[39:38] know how to use him. Like, Alozo himself drew
[39:41] parallels between words and glare, and if Geller can handle
[39:48] those things, why couldn't Florian Wurtz, who also has more
[39:53] experience at dealing with such adversity, on top of it?
[39:56] So Arne Schlotz, I'll say this, like you said, the Carabao Cup
[40:01] match, he comes afterwards and he goes like, look at the
[40:04] lineups of Chelsea and Monster City and compare it to mine.
[40:07] I had nobody on a bench. And I'm like, you guys should
[40:10] spend 400 million. What do you mean nobody?
[40:16] I look, it's a cop out. I think that he dropped words
[40:19] because today was do or die for him.
[40:21] Because imagine now you're not getting result against Aston
[40:24] Villa, then you have you're waiting for Real Madrid at home.
[40:28] That might not go as good as you want.
[40:30] Then what's happening to his job really.
[40:34] So yeah, I think. Yeah, that, that's the talk
[40:37] right now is like, is Arnie on on the hot seat, right?
[40:40] Is he, is he, is he going to get fired?
[40:42] It's like, man, you go from winning the league literally and
[40:45] last season 2 I might not make it to Christmas.
[40:48] What the hell, man? Nature of pro sports, baby.
[40:51] That's that's how it goes in the big times.
[40:54] Crazy, crazy, crazy. I just again, the amount of
[40:57] money they spent on players who are good.
[41:00] Esac is good. It's it's good Frimpong is good.
[41:03] What? These are all elite players.
[41:05] It's like, again, to your point, is it you coach who doesn't know
[41:10] what you're doing? Like, how do you not figure out?
[41:12] Is he not pragmatic enough? Laconte and two, I do things
[41:16] this way, dogmatic and I don't know how to work with these
[41:18] other guys. It's like, come on man, you got
[41:19] to adjust the the talent you have.
[41:23] He's also missing a certain right back that used to make his
[41:26] life naughty. I was just going to say missing
[41:32] Trent yet, Liverpool fans, I mean we're missing them too.
[41:36] We haven't seen a fully optimized yet either.
[41:41] That my Orca game is still on my brain.
[41:43] I just love that game because of trend alone.
[41:46] He's just stuck that and I'm like, can I get more of that?
[41:49] Like I want to move fast that game.
[41:51] I know. Please let us just get well
[41:53] listen, I think he'll probably play against Ryo's my guest.
[41:58] He'll get some time against Ryo's my guest, and then he'll
[42:00] get the OR maybe or maybe not to your point, Le Conte, who won't
[42:04] get any match against Ryo either.
[42:05] He'll stay home for international break, work hard
[42:07] for two weeks and then we come back out of the break.
[42:09] Then he'll he'll start playing. Also took him not calling
[42:12] Bellingham last time even though Bellingham played just because
[42:15] Bellingham didn't show the best physical capacities.
[42:19] Has shown to be more than enough for Tugel to be like hope.
[42:22] I want only fully fit players so maybe we see him against right
[42:27] away. I can say for sure, but I don't
[42:30] think given the current circumstances, he's playing on
[42:32] Anfield like no chance. Yeah, zero chance Tougal will be
[42:37] calling Bellingham up this international break.
[42:39] I don't think there's a choice here.
[42:41] That's happening. Now being the best player in
[42:43] England, maybe with Kane. Yeah, Last last break it was,
[42:47] oh, can they go to the World Cup without Jude?
[42:49] He's not even any good. Now it's going to be like the
[42:51] best player is back like this. This shit is just so stupid.
[42:55] I'm looking at you Daily Mail riders who kept writing the same
[42:59] story despite the coach saying the complete opposite of what
[43:02] you were reporting. But anyways, it is what it is.
[43:06] Do we think our friend de la Fuente calls up Carreras this
[43:13] international break? That's my feeling.
[43:16] I mean, I hope he doesn't. I mean, I don't want him to,
[43:19] but. Who's who's the left back of
[43:22] Spain? What the fuck?
[43:26] I can't never say his last name. There's plenty of options, yeah.
[43:32] Yeah. Yeah, take all them.
[43:33] That's fine. Listen, I know Carreras wants to
[43:36] go and wants to play. Everyone wants it with our
[43:37] national team, so I don't. Want, I think it's going to be
[43:39] called up. I think it's going to be called
[43:42] up. But he needs some rest, my God.
[43:46] All right, guys. Any closing thoughts as we head
[43:49] towards Tuesday? Thank fuck we got this one the
[43:57] way I did. Wasn't, wasn't, was expecting
[44:02] this result today, right? Very, very poor.
[44:04] Valencia, Madrid on the high going to the Liverpool game.
[44:08] This is exactly what we need. Yeah, 100%.
[44:11] We could not have asked for anything.
[44:12] Better players come out of this. So the easy win, no injuries,
[44:16] lacrosse, our fingers on art of being OK and just being extra
[44:19] precautionary on him. And yeah, so we'll see you guys
[44:23] for sure on Tuesday this week after Liverpool, Sid and Laconte
[44:28] will be on that match. Most likely.
[44:31] We'll do the Friday show as always, and we'll have more
[44:33] content for you. Again, thank you all for tuning
[44:35] in to the live stream. Please remember, like the video

[44:40] it with people. It's on Apple and Spotify later
[44:43] if you want the audio only version.
[44:44] And we'll see you guys next time.
[44:46] Take care. Take care guys.
[44:48] Bye.
