## Transcript

[1:02] That music is hitting hard. Welcome to The Real Deal, a Real
[1:07] Madrid podcast with me. Jerrod Hector joined by Sid
[1:11] Ramsundar. What's up Sid?
[1:13] What's going on? Just guys, we're 80% of the way
[1:15] through the studio setup and hopefully the audio is a little
[1:19] more enjoyable for you all. I'm excited.
[1:20] A lot of people are saying they're excited for the first
[1:24] Real Madrid game that like they call it the first game they've
[1:26] been excited for in a long time. Jerrod.
[1:29] Yeah, that's the vibes, right? I mean, it's kind of given a
[1:31] little bit of that like first day of school kind of thing,
[1:33] right, where everybody's just super, super hyped.
[1:36] And you know, Laconte and I talked about it last episode.
[1:39] Look, Madrid fans, we are obviously hyped too.
[1:41] It is the chubby Alonzo era. Again, I just urge you all just
[1:46] have a little bit of caution in that it's going to be growing
[1:49] pains, right? And I say it all the time on
[1:51] other shows, I'll say it on this show, progress, development,
[1:54] growth is not linear. You'll have moments of progress
[1:57] followed by moments of setback. That's just how it's going to
[2:00] look and how it's going to go. It doesn't mean that the project
[2:02] is failing. Everybody panic and lose their
[2:04] mind. Like it's not about that, right?
[2:06] You want to see things. You want to see certain signs
[2:08] and certain improvement. And then as time goes on and as
[2:11] we do it longer, you're going to be like, all right, we are where
[2:14] we want to be. I'm excited now this team is
[2:16] doing what it wants to do. So we're all excited for that.
[2:18] By the way, if you're new to the channel, please like this video
[2:21] right now on YouTube, we're live and also subscribe to the
[2:24] channel, share it with your friends.
[2:26] We are also on Apple and Spotify.
[2:28] So please like subscribe share with everybody because we want
[2:31] to keep putting out these. It's incredible content for you.
[2:35] So see, the Club World Cup is here.
[2:37] Now, to be fair, this is a competition that I think both
[2:40] you and I were not excited about, mainly because there's
[2:43] just too much football in the calendar and these guys need a
[2:45] break, right? Keep in mind, we have the FIFA
[2:48] World Cup next summer, right? So it's literally another
[2:51] situation where these guys are playing for, in essence, 12
[2:54] straight months, if not longer if you count EUR last year in
[2:57] Copa America. So it's almost two straight
[2:59] years of football without a break.
[3:01] Which, yeah, no. Good for, for, for a body.
[3:03] Not ideal. Not ideal at all.
[3:06] Yeah, I think all the excitement I have for the tournament comes
[3:09] from ignoring like how it would feel if I was a player.
[3:13] That's really where it comes from.
[3:14] And I mean, even for the players, I assume, like we got
[3:17] this Jeep squad. I I hope there's some sort of
[3:19] plan where we're like, wink wink, you get your vacation in
[3:23] September. Like you can pretend to be
[3:24] injured. I don't know, like do whatever
[3:25] you want to do, like we'll let you fly to Ibiza.
[3:28] But I hope they get their break. I think it's the only flip I'll
[3:32] say is like after seeing, I guess we might as well just
[3:35] touch on it just after seeing what happened against Auckland
[3:37] City the the other day. Jesus, just see.
[3:41] I know not every, I think that was the only team of semi pro,
[3:43] the New Zealand team. And so, yeah, no other plumbers
[3:46] and barbers anywhere else. And and and like, I don't know,
[3:50] like remote sales consultants, like on the pitch.
[3:52] I don't know what they got out there.
[3:54] Rick and Bayern scored ten goals against these dudes and it's
[3:57] like, yo, what are we even doing?
[3:59] Like it was like warm up for them, right?
[4:01] Like it's like 7 on. It's like 7 on 7 drills.
[4:04] Like it was just so easy. So that's the key.
[4:06] It feels like what I'm really focusing on to convince myself
[4:10] this is OK is the fact that these group stage games are
[4:13] probably something like a warm up.
[4:15] They're they're going to be relatively straightforward.
[4:19] We're not playing La Liga teams like the baseline technical
[4:21] quality of Pachuca and even Al Hilal honestly is lower than
[4:26] what we face. So I think like you get a very
[4:29] rare pre season style environment like Lecante was
[4:32] hinting like it's a pre season through the group stage and then
[4:35] we get one or two intense games to kind of see how far we've
[4:38] come. I just hope we get through those
[4:40] intense games without injury. But that's how I'm looking at it
[4:44] now. And you know, I'd love for them
[4:46] to get their vacation but I just see it as like a a longer more
[4:50] intensive pre season than usual is what I'm convincing.
[4:53] Listen, we, we got to do something right because you and
[4:56] I know that it's just bad, right?
[4:57] From a, from a body standpoint, we know it's bad.
[4:59] So we're trying to trick ourselves into be like, well,
[5:00] here's how it can be good, right?
[5:02] And it's good from the standpoint.
[5:04] Chubby has a chance to work in his system and start doing the
[5:07] different things. So that's a that's a plus,
[5:09] right? The guys get a chance to see
[5:10] what it's like working with him. All of that.
[5:13] The biggest thing though, I think said you hit the nail on
[5:15] the head that we make it through this entire tournament with no
[5:18] injuries. Please, not only no injuries,
[5:22] but no, we can't say no load because you're playing.
[5:26] So you're going to get loads put on your body.
[5:27] That's just going to happen. But I'm hoping to your points to
[5:30] that the load intensity is less than what it would normally be.
[5:34] So that as we get ready to go into next season, we have a
[5:38] little bit more of a of a of time to recover.
[5:41] That being said, Group H Sid mentioned who is in our group.
[5:44] It is Real Madrid, of course, Al Halal from the Saudi Pro League,
[5:47] CF Pachuca and FC Salzburg, by the way, all squads that we've
[5:52] played within the past five years.
[5:53] Salzburg we played this year in Champions League this past
[5:55] season, Patricia, we also played in the Intercontinental Cup, I
[5:59] want to say the beginning of last season and when we played
[6:03] Al Halal three or Four Seasons ago, if I'm not mistaken.
[6:06] So everybody within the last five seasons.
[6:08] Oh, I didn't know we'd played Al Halal.
[6:09] That's cool. Yeah, I'm sure we played them
[6:12] before the the Saudi era began. And I guess let's let's start
[6:18] with what we expect. You want to start with, let's
[6:21] start with you know what? Just I'll, I'll briefly before
[6:23] we get to what we expect, because the obvious quotes are
[6:25] fire. I know we're all going to want
[6:26] to eat them up like tasty appetizers.
[6:29] Of course. They're they're spicy.
[6:31] They're good. Like they're good.
[6:32] They're good coats. I mean, it just keeps tying into
[6:36] how much he knows what we need. But before that, Al Hilal, they
[6:39] got a new coach now Simone and Zagi straight from Inter.
[6:43] He got coped with Inter. He's like, all right, I'm sick
[6:45] of this shit where I play teams with quadruple DE payroll and
[6:47] after rehab, Alexis Sanchez. And I want $20 million a year or
[6:50] whatever the hell they're paying.
[6:52] Him right, So he's like 20 million a year and like just you
[6:55] know what, I'll take this like they slaughtered me after the
[6:57] final. He's probably looking at all the
[6:58] words like dude, no gratitude for beating Barcelona.
[7:01] What do these bombs want? He's probably what he's thinking
[7:04] and I get it. Hey, I think he took them as far
[7:05] as he could, but he's here so alter lol.
[7:08] I think are just interesting briefly because when the big
[7:12] Saudi transfers happened, all the teams went and honestly
[7:15] signed a lot of players either for marketing or like honestly a
[7:19] lot of them were marketing. This is the one team Gerard that
[7:22] built A-Team. They they built a good team and
[7:25] you could see it instantly. Last year they dropped 96
[7:30] points, went unbeaten Benzema, Ronaldo had no chance.
[7:32] Ronaldo's best Al Nasser team finished second or something.
[7:36] They they just, they had their best season, I think 80
[7:38] something points, but they didn't come close to this 96
[7:41] point season. And Mitrovic looked phenomenal.
[7:44] He was the first like prime age player they really got and he
[7:47] looked so good. I'm going to go through the rest
[7:49] of their squad, but it's just I I think like Neymar leaving this
[7:54] year. I thought like, I think that
[7:56] that's the thing. So they they do all this while
[7:57] they sign the Neymar the the marketing star Neymar fails goes
[8:01] to Santos this January. And overall it seems like the
[8:04] momentum they had the year before without him is gone.
[8:06] Maybe they wanted him to come. They lost to I think Al Ali and
[8:09] the Asian Champions League. I'm going to pull that up.
[8:11] But disappointing season. And honestly, one year ago, if
[8:15] there was a Saudi team you wanted to see face anyone, it
[8:18] was all halal. Now it's like they're just
[8:20] another Saudi team. Yeah, yeah, they did their last,
[8:23] I want to say 1012 games of the Saudi Pro League, super
[8:26] inconsistent results. I was telling Sid, but before,
[8:28] before we got on air, you know, and again, that's contributed to
[8:32] that huge drop off in points, right from winning the League
[8:34] Two years ago to now where they are this year where they
[8:36] finished second Inzaghi in a similar situation, right Sid to
[8:41] Chabi in that not a whole ton of time to implement your new
[8:45] system, right. So it'll be interesting to see
[8:48] how much of the of Inzaghi ball will we see from Al Halal.
[8:52] You know, one of the advantages that I feel like the South
[8:56] American clubs have said is that they're like mid season right
[9:00] now. So they're like in in good form.
[9:02] And you can see in a lot of those games, they're flying up
[9:04] and down the pitch and and a lot of the European teams are like,
[9:08] you know, fumes, with the exception of PSU, who we'll get
[9:11] to later, who demolish athlete E, which I have to admit,
[9:14] watching athlete lose always brings joy to my face because,
[9:17] you know, they're athlete and I hate those dudes.
[9:20] But yeah. So anyway, let's get into some
[9:22] some some chubby quotes. I just want to I just want to go
[9:24] over the squads real quick. For those who don't know, just
[9:26] because MZ drama is kind of funny looking bad they got
[9:33] Mitrovic cancello they have. I don't I never remembered in
[9:37] Europe. Marcos Leonardo just sounds like
[9:39] a non Saudi name. I wonder if he's a good player.
[9:41] But they have Ruben Nevez, Malcolm Kalido, Kulabali,
[9:46] Milinkovic Savage you know if you remember him he was linked
[9:48] to a big clubs for a while in Europe and then Renan Lodi as
[9:51] well. So there are no pushovers.
[9:53] But they lost to Al Ali in the Asian Champions League and Ali
[9:57] won their ring and Firminio got his Asian Champions League.
[10:01] Just want to let you all know he got a ring.
[10:03] I just love calling them. I I love calling champions
[10:05] leagues like the title like it pisses off all the league title
[10:07] truthers and and soccer. They're like the league is more
[10:09] important. Mares Tony Firminio, they won
[10:13] their ring. Kessy won his ring, something he
[10:15] couldn't get at Barcelona. Eduard Mendy won his Champions
[10:17] League a second one, I guess. I mean, I'm not equating this.
[10:21] I'm not actually equating this to the European Champions
[10:24] League. But hey, Congrats to those guys
[10:25] and you know that, you know, Inzaghi's going to talk like,
[10:28] you know, we lost to those firminos, like, let's go cook
[10:30] real. But that's the Inzaghi side.
[10:33] Frankly, I love him as a coach. Tactically, I don't know what he
[10:36] could do to necessarily make up for the fact that there's a
[10:38] golfing quality though. Correct.
[10:40] Not a whole lot he's going to be able to do there in that regard.
[10:44] But I think it's important to note that Real Madrid will not
[10:47] look like we might look a lot like how we looked this past
[10:52] season, folks in this game in stretches, right?
[10:54] Just because it's only been, I think I want to say a total of
[10:56] nine training sessions Chabi's had since he started.
[10:59] And by the way, not 9 training sessions with the full squad.
[11:02] I think with the full squad, he's only had three.
[11:06] So again, like this idea of what should we expect?
[11:10] Let's all take a step back, take a deep breath.
[11:13] What I will say is Sid. And it's come out in every
[11:15] single newspaper, every person that follows a team is a beat
[11:19] beat writer, beat reporter. Chabi is stressing pressing and
[11:24] in every training session that is the focus and what they're
[11:27] working on, which is no surprise because this team, as I've said
[11:30] numerous times, looks like 10 and unders when it comes to
[11:33] pressing. Like they have no idea what
[11:34] they're doing because it's not connected and not cohesive as a
[11:37] unit and getting everybody on the same page.
[11:40] I think that's it. That's going to be, not that
[11:43] it's going to be difficult, but that's going to be the biggest
[11:45] challenge, right? It's sort of getting ready to
[11:46] realize, hey, when we press these, these are your positional
[11:50] assignments and your positional discipline you need to have when
[11:53] player X goes here, here's what needs to happen as a chain
[11:56] reaction after after after the effect.
[11:59] And I could see we've all seen the clips all all season long or
[12:02] all season, excuse me, all the last week to two weeks long from
[12:06] Jobby, like getting in the middle of practice and like
[12:09] being very demonstrative about who needs to go where and who
[12:12] needs to do what. So clearly it's taking these
[12:14] guys a little bit to catch on because they've never, I mean,
[12:17] not never, but they haven't been told to do this in quite a long
[12:20] time. Yeah, definitely.
[12:23] And that quote, he said. I thought the report from Pecan
[12:27] is interesting that the coaching staff believe that Real Madrid,
[12:30] the team lacks speed and they're putting a focus on intensity and
[12:32] training sessions and pressing and transition drills to solve
[12:35] the issue. Hey, I mean, I love it.
[12:37] It's all too perfect. Almost like even when Zidane
[12:39] came, the quotes were good, but they were like, I feel like, I
[12:43] hate to say this, but like, and I don't know, I feel like I'm
[12:45] one of the few who always uses this vocabulary and it just
[12:48] feels like everyone like, like all these shows what we talk
[12:50] about the, the club knew that they need to market to like the
[12:53] fans and some of them went on Twitter.
[12:55] They saw the words we're using and now they're putting those
[12:57] out of the press releases. Dude that's surviving.
[12:59] No doubt, folks, what Sid said is right on.
[13:03] You guys know I covered the NBA in addition to doing this, and
[13:06] it's the same thing that happens every training camp.
[13:09] When the season starts with a new coach or whatever, we're
[13:11] going to play faster. They all sit and I promise you
[13:14] how many of them actually play differently?
[13:16] None. They all play the way they used
[13:18] to play. Like that's just the reality of
[13:19] what happens now. I'm not saying that's going to
[13:22] happen to Madrid, because I do think that the players do you
[13:24] want to play a different style and I do think chubby's going to
[13:27] get them to play a different style.
[13:28] But to this point, he is correct in that all the the leaking, all
[13:33] the right things because that's what the fans want to hear,
[13:36] right. So we're going to hear that.
[13:37] Will we see it again? Not necessarily right away in
[13:40] that first game. I think we're going to see it in
[13:42] parts where people. Oh, this is like the beginning
[13:45] of what we think a good press will look like.
[13:47] And it'll break down a bunch of times because they're just,
[13:49] they're not. It's like everything else, guys.
[13:50] Like the first time you do something, you're horrible at
[13:54] it. The tenth time, you're a little
[13:55] bit better the 100th time, a little bit better the one
[13:58] thousandth time, right? Like it's just the more you do
[14:00] it, the better you get at it. So that's what's what we're
[14:02] going to see. We're going to see growing
[14:03] pains. We're going to see guys get
[14:05] better. I think the biggest thing said,
[14:08] I was joking in in our real deal chat about, you know, chubby
[14:12] stressing intensity, badge and speed, speed, speed.
[14:15] How much time do you think, like Mbappe is saying to him, like
[14:18] coach, you're asking for a lot of work without the ball, man, I
[14:21] guess I'm sure you asked me to work really hard without the
[14:24] ball. I don't know about that.
[14:26] So I think the growing pains are two pronged.
[14:29] And the first one is like the the first growing pain is when
[14:33] you ask this many guys to go press, it's like how do they
[14:36] deal with how much energy they're expending?
[14:39] Your minute 30 is gonna feel a lot different when you're
[14:41] pressing than minute 30 when you're not.
[14:43] And then yeah, how much energy do you have for finishing the
[14:46] actions? And really, you need to just get
[14:48] used to it. You need to get used to the fact
[14:49] that when you guys got the ball, you've been running a little bit
[14:52] to try and win it back. You're closer to goal.
[14:54] And when you don't have the ball, you just have to get used
[14:56] to like kind of leaving it out on the floor.
[14:58] And that's not easy, but I would say the second growing pain is
[15:02] the one where I'm expecting to see a lot of which is which
[15:06] every pressing team does when your press breaks like what you
[15:10] and and not only that, it's when you're so eager and you're
[15:12] successful pressing early on, your press might break twice a
[15:15] game. You might just be like, damn,
[15:17] why would I like why would I think twice about closing down
[15:19] high up the pitch? But there's like a balance.
[15:22] The team finds all great pressing teams where you you
[15:25] start by winning every ball and then you have to dial it back
[15:28] just three 4% so that you're not giving super easy chances.
[15:32] Those are the two big. So I'm expecting some stupid
[15:35] goals to be conceded and maybe guys to look a little tired if
[15:39] they actually execute the defensive game plan.
[15:41] No, I think said you hit the nail on the head.
[15:44] You're going to see that at first that all that excitement
[15:46] and the energy to go do the thing.
[15:49] This will not be a great pressing team right away.
[15:52] Matter of fact, I'll go as far as that We won't be a great
[15:54] pressing team this season. Now I said the word great,
[15:58] right? You will not be a great pressing
[16:00] team this season. We'll be better than we've been
[16:02] in the past. We won't be great.
[16:04] The greatness comes from the subtleties and nuances of how
[16:08] you notice this point. OK, let's dial it back. 2% right
[16:12] here. Let's just change my body
[16:13] position to my angle just enough right here.
[16:16] So we're not giving up those stupid goals, right?
[16:18] And those and those breakaway chances, right?
[16:20] 3V22V1 on the other end because we took a bad angle.
[16:23] Whatever, right? Those are the things that takes
[16:25] time. To use a basketball analogy,
[16:27] it's an old school offense. But Jordan and Kobe all talked
[16:31] about the triangle, right? Early in their triangle career,
[16:34] like they got it, but late, they really got it right.
[16:38] They really understood the subtleties of it.
[16:41] These things take time. Like you're not going to get it
[16:43] all right away, right? So these are things we're
[16:45] talking about. Or that overtime.
[16:47] Then then you went to wave Phil off.
[16:49] Then you went to wave Phil off. Like bro bro, I'm going ISO hell
[16:52] out of here. Nah, I'm going to go cook this
[16:53] dude right now like. No, that was that was just a
[16:56] joke. That was just my pet peeve with
[16:58] the triangle. Always always tell people hey
[16:59] like the triangle was like a first 3/4 thing bro like go
[17:02] watch the game. I mean it it for sure, Michael
[17:06] for sure broke off the triangle early.
[17:08] Kobe, I mean Kobe will break off the triangle.
[17:10] Kobe broke it off first quarter like.
[17:11] Yeah, he's just like, I'm just going freaking Kobe mode because
[17:14] that's just, I don't know how to do anything else.
[17:16] But point being right is that systems work, but they have to
[17:20] be fine-tuned. And it's when your knowledge of
[17:23] the system gets to PhD level where and as a unit, not just
[17:26] you individually, where one guy knows how it works perfectly.
[17:29] All 11 have to know, or all 10, really.
[17:33] Here is how exactly we want it, right?
[17:35] And then we're all in in symbiosis.
[17:38] To use another example, Sid, what makes Oklahoma City and
[17:43] Indiana so good on the defensive side of the floor is they're on
[17:47] a string, right? When they force a player to one
[17:52] side of the floor, right, the help immediately comes from the
[17:55] blind side. So the player now who has the
[17:57] ball is in no man's land. They're trapped, right, like
[18:00] because unless they're super skill, just get an awesome shot
[18:02] off, which you can sometimes, right, because you're the best
[18:04] offensive players in the world. But they but the way that works
[18:07] is because everyone rotates so fast on a string, right?
[18:10] And it's brilliant. It's the same idea when we're
[18:13] talking about pressing right, It can't just be one or two dudes
[18:15] doing it right. And then everybody else behind
[18:17] this, I'm a little bit off my space is a little because if
[18:19] that's missing, well, there's your gap up the middle now for
[18:22] the wide open pass. And now we're we're in a
[18:24] disadvantage on the other end, right.
[18:26] And so again, all that's going to take time.
[18:29] Yeah, and I think I'm I'm honestly not even sure if I
[18:31] expect like the quotes are all fires we've talked about.
[18:34] But as far as like the reality, I don't know if I expect us to
[18:37] actually end up a high pressing team.
[18:40] Alonzo seems to have a lot of clarity.
[18:42] But even as a young coach, like generally when you come to Real
[18:46] Madrid, you expect to win with tactics.
[18:49] And it could be the reality is you end up winning with a little
[18:51] more of just quality and you don't just need to make sure you
[18:54] play the other team, even on defense, you don't let them
[18:56] dominate you. So we are going to get better
[19:00] every game and we are going to realize that idea.
[19:04] But whether that idea is AII just can't tell if the idea is a
[19:10] mid block that's just effective enough like Zidane or if it's a
[19:13] true high press, because the gold standard for high pressing
[19:15] now is Arsenal. I really don't think Killian or
[19:19] Vinny ever end up at the point where we're looking like Arsenal
[19:21] on defense. They don't need to.
[19:22] They only need to while we play Arsenal.
[19:24] Well, that's it. Like they don't need to in any
[19:25] other game, that one game that the whole do the whole pintis
[19:28] method, whatever, like just just that one game.
[19:29] And again, we did that when we won against Carlo and under
[19:32] Carlo, but we want to see that guaranteed every year under
[19:35] Carlo, it was a coin toss. Like is this an year where
[19:37] there's enough health and like enough things are going right
[19:40] that maybe you also get one or two tactics right and everything
[19:42] works out? And so I'm hoping the baseline
[19:45] is good defensively, but like the gold standard for a
[19:48] superstar team. I always say that Prestorad is
[19:51] Luis Enrique's first Barcelona, the Messi, Neymar.
[19:53] Suarez. Low PPDAI don't know if we're
[19:57] Enrique's Barcelona with that like record PPDA like 7 passes
[20:01] allowed for defensive action or are we more of a second spell
[20:05] sedan team with better offense where elite mid block games
[20:09] might be boring? I'm cool with it either way.
[20:12] And the other thing I'll only say is.
[20:14] I know you said growing pains, but if we choose to become that
[20:16] Enrique team, Gerard, this is going to be the best year.
[20:18] You don't year one of the new coach is the best year for a
[20:21] high pressing team. It never gets easier to
[20:23] implement it. It never gets better.
[20:25] You just get more lose your legs over years trying to do it.
[20:27] And if we are going that Enrique rap Gerard, this is going to be
[20:31] the best year. If we're going mid block, we're
[20:33] we're just back. We've we've seen that.
[20:35] You know, you have longevity. You don't get tired.
[20:38] But yeah, just wanted to add that so I don't, I don't know
[20:40] which way we're going. I think you might see a little
[20:43] bit of both. I don't think we're going to be
[20:45] like a one thing all the time. What I'm reading from Chubby,
[20:49] what he's saying is we're going to do different things based on
[20:51] who our opponent is and what I think our best tactical game
[20:55] plan is for this particular team.
[20:57] So yeah, in that Arsenal game that you mentioned, if we see
[20:59] them, yeah, we're going to have to do that higher line, high
[21:02] price, right? Like we're we're going to do
[21:03] that, but against I don't know, Barcelona might be slightly
[21:07] different, right? Against Chelsea or against let
[21:10] it go. It might be, it might be
[21:11] different, right. Like I think he's going to play.
[21:14] That's going to be. I think our advantage is that
[21:16] when you are scouting us, you're going to be like, well, damn,
[21:20] which Madrid are we going to see?
[21:22] Are they going to play mid block tight against us?
[21:24] Are they going to come up? I don't know right.
[21:27] And I, I think that's what you want.
[21:29] You want the opponent to have to prepare for five different
[21:33] versions of you because if they do, then they're not, they're
[21:35] not going to be good because they didn't spend enough time on
[21:37] the version you're actually going to use, right?
[21:39] It's this idea of multitasking. Everyone loves to say multitask,
[21:42] multitask, multitask. Well, the reality is, is that
[21:44] like, human beings don't multitask well, right?
[21:45] Like our brains are too slow. You just can't, right?
[21:47] Like so if you, if you have 7 different options you have to
[21:52] plan for, you're going to plan for them all fine, but you're
[21:55] not going to plan for that one as well as you should.
[21:58] And that's the one we're going to unleash on you.
[21:59] And that's the one that's going to hurt you because you just
[22:01] haven't drilled it enough, right?
[22:02] Because you haven't done the repetition enough in the week
[22:05] leading up to the big match, right?
[22:06] And so I think again, we're going to be versatile and I
[22:09] think that's why Chubby's looking for keep mentioned
[22:13] speed, right? Like we need a a, which I do
[22:15] think we have in terms of just flat line speedsters, right?
[22:19] Like obviously Benny and Bobby are fast, are super fast, right?
[22:22] That's like one category. Fede's fast, Jude's fast, Kemah
[22:26] Vinga's fast, right? Like we have speed.
[22:27] Ascencio's got paced like we have speed, right?
[22:30] Like it exists. It's, it's the matter of getting
[22:33] it, getting more of it and getting it into the right places
[22:35] that we want to use it. Which brings me to, by the way,
[22:39] shout out to everybody in the chat.
[22:40] We'd love to see you guys here. Aditian K.
[22:43] We will get to your question momentarily because we did watch
[22:45] Carreras yesterday and we have exciting things to say about
[22:47] that. I always want to go through some
[22:49] more chat with coach really quick.
[22:50] Sid, he talked about Jude, which of course everybody wants to
[22:54] know what's Jude's best role? Where is he going to play?
[22:57] So Chavi said. He has ability to cover wide
[22:58] areas, but he has to start in the right position.
[23:01] He has the spirit of a midfielder, loves to create, has
[23:03] the ability to reach his goal. We've talked about the starting
[23:06] position, but he's very dynamic. What that says to me, again,
[23:09] Sid, is versatility. Now he will have a certain
[23:13] amount of structure and discipline behind him.
[23:16] I think it's why it's important that Chubby said he must start
[23:19] in the right position. So I think it's going to be
[23:21] important that, yes, positionally, he starts whatever
[23:24] Chubby thinks the right position is.
[23:25] I don't know, but he's going to start in that right spot.
[23:28] And then from there he's going to have some freedom and
[23:30] flexibility. But I think that's the biggest
[23:32] key for me, Sid, is that our midfield, I think Chubby will
[23:36] unlock our midfield to a whole level because we talk about all
[23:39] the time. I think talent wise, just on
[23:42] straight pure talent, we have arguably the best midfield in
[23:46] the world, like as a unit. And I think he can unlock that
[23:50] with the right, with the right positional approach.
[23:53] Yeah, I think like we were saying in the expectations for
[23:55] this season on an earlier show, I want Jude to stop defending
[23:59] the wing completely. Like because you end up there
[24:02] because you're defending the wing.
[24:03] So when we get the ball back, you're on the wing.
[24:05] Like it's, it's pretty straightforward and you're
[24:07] defending the wing because all the mishaps across the team,
[24:10] which we've talked about upfront.
[24:12] I would love to see him for sure through the middle.
[24:15] And I think on that note for expectations, I think if there's
[24:18] an area like I, I just go back to Zadon a little because he had
[24:21] the same outlook of where the risk reward was with a club of
[24:25] the stature and a team like where the risk 8020 lies and
[24:28] making the team better. It's not.
[24:30] And, and in that sense, I think, you know, we err on the side of
[24:34] being boring. I don't know how to say it like,
[24:36] like win the ball, keep it in the final third.
[24:39] Take your time figuring out how you're going to break the block.
[24:41] I'd rather us play a lot of the game that way and conserve
[24:44] energy than anything else. And I think the press will be
[24:47] decent. I think we're technical quality,
[24:49] especially in the group stage, is so much better than these
[24:50] other teams. So a lot of it will be what are
[24:53] we doing in the final third? And the truth is these teams
[24:55] might not be good enough for us to even learn much in the final
[24:57] third. We might just walk over them in
[24:59] the final third, but as we go just tactically, I think that's
[25:04] going to be the biggest growing pain, even beyond the defense.
[25:06] The defense is going to be hard. But like I, I think executing on
[25:10] defense is just a matter of coaching like consistently.
[25:13] I, I think like when the coach is taking that cognitive load
[25:16] off the players and drilling them where it's like, Hey, I
[25:19] don't need you to remember 50,000 things and read and
[25:21] react. It's like we worked on these
[25:23] things in training. Like I think that is going to be
[25:27] something that plays out quite successfully.
[25:29] But on offense you don't want to win.
[25:31] Like there's a trade off, right? If you play faster, it's going
[25:33] to be easier to create. Maybe we don't control the game
[25:35] as much. So I think I would like to see
[25:37] him on air on the side of control from day one.
[25:41] Which I think he will and and I think so we talked about what to
[25:44] look for when we watch these games and what should we expect,
[25:47] right? Which are two slightly different
[25:48] things, right. We should look for.
[25:51] Oh, I see shall be trying to implement a press here.
[25:54] Oh, I see us trying to win the ball back here.
[25:57] Oh, I see us playing with a little bit more combination play
[26:01] here, right. Those are things we should be
[26:02] looking for. Oh, I see Jude is in this
[26:04] position here, right. He's much more central than he
[26:07] is on. Those are things we should look
[26:09] for to see how are we lining up right and how are and how are we
[26:12] doing approaching different phases of the game to what we
[26:15] should expect. Again, that goes back to the
[26:18] versatility, that goes back to seeing things change over time,
[26:20] that goes back to growing pains, all the various things we talked
[26:22] about. One other person I think is
[26:24] interesting, Sid is Rodrigo, A, for lack of a better term, a
[26:28] polarizing player within the fan base.
[26:31] And I think we're all in agreement here at The Real Deal
[26:35] that we think it's likely he gets moved before the end of the
[26:39] transfer window to a big Premier League club, especially if
[26:42] they're gonna, if he's gonna, if they're gonna give us over $100
[26:44] million. I can't imagine we keep him.
[26:46] But Chubby said, you know, quote UN quote, all the right things.
[26:49] So he was asked about Rodrigo at the end of the season and how he
[26:52] didn't really play much. He didn't go to he didn't go to
[26:54] the national team in Brazil. So Chubby says, I can say up to
[26:57] a point, I know what happened at at the end of the season wasn't
[27:00] easy for him. He took some time off, which was
[27:02] good for him to reset his mind. We've spoken since day one and I
[27:05] see him eager to enjoy his quality.
[27:09] I have the belief, Sid, that it's an opportunity potentially
[27:13] for the club to audition him on left wing and have him have a
[27:17] good showing, especially in these group stage matches where
[27:20] it wow, everybody's like, so the whole world is buzzing.
[27:23] Oh my God, Real Madrid will be stupid to get rid of Rodrigo.
[27:25] Look at this guy. He's awesome.
[27:27] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Keep driving that, that sell
[27:29] price up. And then Arsenal or Man City or
[27:31] whoever, Tottenham, I don't care, comes in and they're like,
[27:35] bro, we'll give you $150 million for for Rodrigo.
[27:38] I'll drive him the airport, thank you very much.
[27:40] That that's what I think is likely gonna happen.
[27:43] I mean, he said, I can say up to a point, he just gave it away.
[27:46] Like, what do you mean up to a point, buddy?
[27:47] Like, I mean, I wouldn't even say that if I were you, man.
[27:51] Their PR training failed there. You gave it away.
[27:52] But I think it's an open secret. And I think it's an open secret.
[27:56] Arsenal want him and I think it's probably down to fee.
[27:59] Yeah, I I totally agree. Get him some minutes, tack a few
[28:02] million onto that transfer fee and say goodbye.
[28:05] Bring in Buddemiri with that money.
[28:08] Yeah. And I you know, I just want to
[28:09] elaborate on something I said on Twitter.
[28:10] There's just so much conversation on Rodrigo being
[28:13] the best, like most versatile forward we have.
[28:16] Honestly, you guys are weird if you think he's better than we
[28:18] like all of you who say that you guys are weirdos, like one O 1
[28:22] weirdos. Like what?
[28:26] It's just like the part of the sports culture where like, why
[28:28] are you watching sports if you want to watch it and take away
[28:30] Rodrigo's better than Vinnie. Like what are you doing in this
[28:32] community, bro? Like it's like what?
[28:35] Like I have eyes do. We fair.
[28:37] Rodrigo is supremely talented. None of us deny that he's a
[28:40] talented player. The problem is that his best
[28:43] spot is on the left hand side and he is not better than Vinny,
[28:47] right. That's just and so and he is not
[28:50] good enough on the right to make enough of a difference because
[28:53] he's not really fast enough to be that touchline winger who can
[28:57] take guys on one-on-one and dribble.
[29:00] Honestly, Sid, it's a little too easy to dispossess him from the
[29:05] ball at times I think. OK, because he's not fast, so he
[29:08] can't actually beat his man. And I think that's where even on
[29:11] the left, dude, he's not close to Vinny.
[29:13] We're not winning anything. Like he's good.
[29:15] Stand in when the other team's so scared of Vinny, they're
[29:17] like, oh crap, what is this guy Rodrigo?
[29:19] And where's Vinny now? Like, yes, when Vinny's playing
[29:20] up front. Listen, what Rodrigo achieved in
[29:23] that Champions League run was incredible because he was
[29:26] incredible because he he played off Vinny, he played in the team
[29:30] concept. He he frankly was more dangerous
[29:33] than Jude at that point in the season offensively.
[29:35] And so he ended up being our number two option arguably and
[29:38] down the stretch on a Champions League winning team.
[29:40] I take that very seriously when you're like the second most
[29:43] productive and important forward on a team like that.
[29:46] And Jude was the most second most important or most joint
[29:49] most of that season. But yeah, like the Man City goal
[29:52] was phenomenal. The Bayern tie Vinny gets loose
[29:54] because Rodriguez also taking gravity up.
[29:57] But with that being said, I was just going through the stats man
[29:59] like De Maria 1314 playing in midfield out produced this guy
[30:02] like Oh my God, I'm looking at that.
[30:04] I'm like not only that De Maria's like like out produced
[30:07] him almost every year like of his career.
[30:09] And I think like if you're looking at, and I was really
[30:12] angry when we sold him because that's who I'd be upset.
[30:15] I think that's the perfect example.
[30:16] They're acting like we're losing De Maria, dude, he can't play
[30:19] midfield with our front three. We did not just win a Champions
[30:21] League with him being man of the match by dribbling on the right
[30:23] wing and crossing hit two and Poppy like De Maria De Maria was
[30:26] the man of the match out of position in position inside
[30:29] outside. 20/14/2022 World Cup finally don't matter.
[30:33] He delivers, you know, and I think there's too much
[30:35] conditionality with Rodrigo. I mean again, like .85 goals
[30:39] plus assists for 90 as a midfielder.
[30:40] Rodrigo is not there as a forward.
[30:43] Guys like, you need to start thinking.
[30:44] And I think the standard of what we're used to here has fallen.
[30:47] Like it's a lot of fans who didn't watch the three peat
[30:49] Gerard who are like seem as indispensable.
[30:51] Dude. Like, honestly, we've had like
[30:53] 10 guys more productive. Jamez was more productive.
[30:55] Like a lot of guys are more productive per 90 than him.
[30:59] And until now, he was willing to play his role and take on the
[31:02] more limited thing. As soon as you want that more
[31:04] expanded role, it's going to be tough, but yeah.
[31:07] I mean, sit, sit, sit at the nail in the head.
[31:09] In two years as an undisputed starter for this club, it's been
[31:13] 2 right or three. It's it's third year, not
[31:16] undisputed this this year he wasn't undisputed, but like the
[31:19] two years before this, he was playing a lot with Benzema hurt
[31:21] and stuff He. Has not distinguished himself as
[31:25] to to this point. Point.
[31:27] What is it? Point 7.6 something.
[31:30] He's in the point sixes every year and this year he was like
[31:32] out performing his EG to stay there.
[31:34] But like it's not like he's going above that when he's
[31:36] getting more chances. That's the problem.
[31:38] For a forward at this club that is not good enough.
[31:40] Like it just isn't like I don't I don't know what to say.
[31:42] It's just not good enough. And I'm going to talk about Mr.
[31:46] Franco Mastantuano later, who, listen, I saw something today
[31:50] that I was like, I don't think I've ever seen Rodrigo do this
[31:52] on the right side. So we'll, we'll get to that in a
[31:54] minute. But yeah, so anyway, that, that
[31:56] that's some, some great stuff from, from Chubby.
[31:58] And and his quotes look as as as Sid and I said, it's all gravy.
[32:02] Everybody's excited. It's this is, you know, saying
[32:05] all the right things. We will see as time goes on.
[32:08] He also said, we know what we are, we know what we want and we
[32:11] know how we want to play. And that's what we're working on
[32:13] building. So I think he's also setting
[32:15] expectations right there. Is Chubby has in his mind what
[32:20] peak version of this squad looks like.
[32:22] It's clear in his mind. We don't know, but in his mind
[32:25] very clear. The question is when will we get
[32:29] there? And and what are the process and
[32:31] steps we're taking to get there? And by the way, guys, I think
[32:34] chubby and I used this, did the JJ analogy last episode talking
[32:38] with the Conte. He's a process oriented guy and
[32:42] to him it isn't about the destination.
[32:44] It's about the the process and getting there on the journey,
[32:47] like choppy Liz for this kind of shit.
[32:49] Like JJ, like they, they love breaking down tape and like this
[32:53] is these guys are psychos. Like they're literal psychos
[32:55] about this stuff. So the process and so I, that's
[32:57] what I want fans to understand and appreciates.
[32:59] It is the process, right? Like how, how it's going to look
[33:03] in the Club World Cup versus in September in La Liga versus
[33:07] November in Champions League versus January in Copa del Rey.
[33:11] But right, see the steps and the, and you're like, wait a
[33:14] minute, I'm starting to watch. Like it's hard because I know
[33:17] when our culture, we want microwave everything to happen
[33:18] in like 5 seconds. And it's like, dudes, that's not
[33:20] how it works. Life doesn't work that way.
[33:22] Like keep eyeing the process and see the improvements.
[33:26] You have to, to this point, you have to be know what you're
[33:28] watching and watch closely, right?
[33:30] Like I think we're getting better at this thing.
[33:32] I see it, I see it, right? These are the kinds of things I
[33:34] think we have to be on the lookout for.
[33:36] Yeah, and I would just add, I think he's like, my main
[33:39] expectation is like, I think he'll bring the Naglesman.
[33:42] And Naglesman has referred to the NFL.
[33:44] But there's a new approach in soccer where you can't make
[33:48] rolling Subs like the NBA or NFL where guys come in and out of
[33:51] the game maybe for certain possessions or certain
[33:54] stretches. But Naglesman has said this
[33:57] first where he wants more time outs because he wants to be able
[34:00] to change how the team plays with the snap of a finger.
[34:02] And he's already done this. We we've already seen them do
[34:04] this like 20 minutes with the game to change.
[34:06] Guardiola is not as insistent. Guardiola only does that when
[34:10] like he has plan B's and C's, but they're like in possession
[34:13] variants of how to keep the ball.
[34:15] Nagelsman is like a kind of a full switch.
[34:16] I think Alonzo leans from the Nagelsman school of thought.
[34:19] Also Carlo in 1314 was one of the first to really pioneer like
[34:24] a super team playing a block against Bayern that four nil.
[34:27] And I think he's been so heavily influenced by all those games
[34:30] where he knows, like, even if you have the best players in the
[34:32] world, if you're either countering or keeping the ball
[34:36] against the uphill momentum of what the game wants you to do,
[34:38] if you're making life easier for the other team by defaulting to
[34:42] that, then you're just, it's too easy.
[34:45] What you want is to you don't want the other team to know what
[34:48] setup you're in ever. And I think that's where Alonzo
[34:50] comes from. Like, Hey, show them a mid
[34:52] block, then retreat to a deep block.
[34:53] Hey, show them a high press, then retreat to a deep block.
[34:56] And I, I love this concept and we've seen it in the NBA this
[34:59] playoffs where you pretend to be in a zone or the man coverage
[35:03] and you're literally just pretending till they do what you
[35:06] want them to do. And.
[35:07] Then you slip into your. Yep.
[35:08] And and again, Kaizen, Juergen and Guardiola, they vary it for
[35:13] one way. Juergen varies it to win the
[35:14] ball back like he always wants to just win the 50 fifties,
[35:17] Guardiola to avoid fifty 50s even happening because just keep
[35:21] the ball. In Alonzo's case, I really think
[35:23] it's gonna be a little more Smash Mouth.
[35:25] And I'd say the main difference with the donde there is it's a
[35:26] little more offensive oriented because you make those switches
[35:30] for offense. You don't need to make them for
[35:32] for a team with this quality, you're going to be able to play
[35:34] teams nil, nil very easily. A lot of these switches will be
[35:37] so you can get early leads and sit on them or something like
[35:40] that. Super excited for all that.
[35:42] And I, I really think it is the first and a lot of people will
[35:46] say Naglesman does this, but it's just rare, you know,
[35:48] usually people are made fun of like, oh, Real Madrid tactics.
[35:51] It's like, no, now you watch us to learn tactics, fools.
[35:54] We don't watch your pep anymore. We don't watch your nil Nils
[35:57] with sippy Arteta derbies and all that.
[36:00] We don't watch your pep in this the the derbies.
[36:03] No, it's true. And I love the idea of yes, it
[36:05] doesn't. It doesn't work like in
[36:07] basketball where you can call time out and run in a full sub.
[36:09] But the idea of changing how you're playing, not just at
[36:12] halftime when you're in the locker room, but through the
[36:14] course of the game itself, while it's flowing on the pitch,
[36:17] right? I think I think that'll be super
[36:19] interesting to watch. And I think again, Chavi's a
[36:22] much more proactive manager, right?
[36:24] When I would call Carlo much more reactive in that way,
[36:27] right? And I think we'll see a lot more
[36:29] of of him like, and again, pragmatism, right, this idea,
[36:32] all right, this shit ain't working great.
[36:34] Switch to this right? Like I, I just think that
[36:36] that's, listen, you don't really, the goal is to win the
[36:40] games, right? That is the goal.
[36:41] Like how we win them is really irrelevant, but the goal is to
[36:45] win, right? If your plan is not working
[36:47] well, then we got to do something different, right?
[36:49] Don't be so beholden and so locked in that you're dogmatic
[36:52] and then you don't want to change, right?
[36:54] Like we know many coaches are. It's just, I think where this is
[36:57] interesting is it's like it requires a lot of understanding
[36:59] of human behavior because it's really hard to program more than
[37:03] like one or two settings into a team, like because they're going
[37:07] to need factory settings to default to when the game's on
[37:10] the line. And that's where Alonzo and
[37:12] angles made interesting because there aren't really two ways to
[37:14] play. They're like, like, and the best
[37:16] analogy I use is FIFA. FIFA used to have an option
[37:19] where when they introduced it where you could suddenly, if you
[37:23] switch to attacking, you weren't just becoming more attacking,
[37:26] they let you actually change the tactic.
[37:27] So your balance mode could be AD block, your attacking mode could
[37:30] be a press and if I really wanted to beat someone, I would
[37:33] have 5 modes ready so that I could flip whatever I would see
[37:36] what they're doing to start. It's like, oh, I'd have 5
[37:38] different ones and it wasn't about attacking your defensive.
[37:40] It's like 5 different flavors. It's really hard to tweak your
[37:45] flavor a tiny bit in game without everybody being on the
[37:48] exact same page. That is where and you know, you
[37:52] need to know your players limits.
[37:53] You need to know, hey, has do I have like the vanilla and
[37:56] chocolate flavour ready or should I just tell them the
[37:58] strick with strawberry this game because it's not ready yet?
[38:00] And like also like over time, Jabi will have to learn his own
[38:04] confidence levels of like I thought I taught them this
[38:06] flavour, but they don't have it yet.
[38:07] And I think that's actually, in my opinion, 99% of what we'll
[38:11] see is him just learning from his own assumptions.
[38:13] Like can the default flavour be a high press or does it have to
[38:16] be a mid block? And how well have I taught them
[38:19] these other flavours, stuff like that.
[38:21] And also just making the right read even when you have all the
[38:23] options like actually getting the read right every time is
[38:26] hard. So all that is going to be super
[38:29] fun. I can't wait.
[38:31] It is exciting and I love the the ice cream analogy as an ice
[38:33] cream fan, because Stuff said shout out to Kazeen, who said
[38:39] Rodrigo lacks the most important thing to succeed at Madrid.
[38:41] The intangibles, I mean, I can't really.
[38:43] I actually think it's the tangibles.
[38:44] I think it's the tangibles. Tangibles.
[38:46] Ross B, you're trying to be a forward at the biggest club in
[38:48] the world and you're not fast, dude.
[38:49] Just just rebrand as a midfielder buddy like.
[38:53] And FG, I'm already preparing for the worst for this
[38:56] tournament. PSG will win it all.
[38:57] We'll get to them in a minute if we win it.
[38:59] Nice surprise. But this past season has ruined
[39:01] me. Thankfully we have Chubby.
[39:02] Listen, FGI get it. I I I get your, your, your, your
[39:05] pessimism. Why don't we, why don't we just
[39:07] talk about them now, real quick while we're here?
[39:08] Because. No, no problem.
[39:09] Let me just get Mahmoud Suite. Zanon used to do that as well
[39:12] and the game stayed. Different portions of the game
[39:14] we would play differently. I don't disagree.
[39:16] Zadon was was really good at that.
[39:18] I would just say it was not, not to the extent we'd see here.
[39:21] Zadon very rarely brought the Super high press out of his bag
[39:25] unless he wanted to because we weren't as oppressing.
[39:27] But I feel like it was a lot of deep and mid blocks between
[39:30] Zadon and that's where, you know, if Zabi finds the high
[39:32] press doesn't work, we're going between those flavors, the
[39:34] flavors. If if the strawberry, which is
[39:36] the we call the strawberry the high press.
[39:37] If the strawberry ain't ain't hitting, he's going to be like,
[39:40] dump that shit. You going back to vanilla and
[39:42] chocolate because he'll just know, like he'll understand the
[39:45] team's makeup and their their load, their mental load
[39:49] capacity, and he'll be like, you don't get how to make
[39:51] strawberry. Fine, you know how to make
[39:53] vanilla and chocolate. Let's stick to vanilla and
[39:54] chocolate. Listen, whatever works works.
[39:56] All right, let's talk about PSG. As I said, so brilliant how they
[40:00] dismantle that like the four nothing athletic tears are
[40:04] always among my favorite things to watch.
[40:05] I really, I really enjoyed that. Look, we, we have sung the
[40:10] praises of Luis Enrique in his PSG squad this season.
[40:13] I think one of the reasons why I said that they're going to be
[40:17] tough to beat in this this tournament is also because of
[40:20] what we talked about that helped them win the Champions League,
[40:22] which is their overall cumulative low minute load.
[40:26] That's why they ran rockshot over Inter.
[40:28] Yes, they're also very good and better than Inter, but they
[40:31] destroyed them because Inter's guys all had, you know, 3000
[40:34] plus minutes and like the highest ranking person on PSG
[40:37] had like 2300. Like so I mean, just a body
[40:41] load, right? They're just fresher, right?
[40:42] It's what I said to Sid. We're talking about something
[40:44] basketball wise and one of the main reasons Indiana and
[40:47] Oklahoma City are in the finals right now.
[40:49] Beyond being the two best teams in the league, they delivered
[40:53] their players to the most important part of the season,
[40:56] the freshest and the healthiest period.
[40:58] End of story. That's what PSG did.
[41:01] Their guys were fresher and healthier than everybody else
[41:04] playing Champions League ball. That's why they won, right?
[41:06] And so in this tournament they're going to have a leg up
[41:09] over the European clubs for sure, because all the European
[41:11] clubs are dead right from from from their season.
[41:14] We'll see about the South American side because you know,
[41:16] those guys are mid season right now.
[41:17] As I mentioned, they're kind of in form, but the the technical
[41:19] quality may just be too high on PSGI.
[41:21] Don't know. What do you think?
[41:23] I mean, I agree, and that's also why I'm really not.
[41:26] I think Man City are cooked even with their new signings.
[41:28] It's like you guys really don't need this tournament after the
[41:31] season you guys just had. It's like not good.
[41:33] You need a break. You, your whole team needed the
[41:34] break. No, I mean, maybe it helps them
[41:37] embed their young new signings. They do have a lot of pieces, a
[41:40] lot of new pieces. But yeah, I think PSG are just,
[41:43] I don't know, there's just this like team that's in the middle
[41:46] of of a good era feeling to them and you just got to give them
[41:49] credit. Enrique's talking a big game.
[41:51] He's like, we're the favourites, we better win this thing.
[41:53] And I'm like, yeah, bro, like, like all your guys get paid.
[41:57] Like all your guys get paid more than they would elsewhere to
[41:59] hang out like and eat, order Uber Eats every other week and
[42:01] they're fresh and just been waiting for this all year.
[42:03] Like again, he's. Uber Eats every.
[42:05] Other dude, Usman's ordering Uber Eats every other week, dude
[42:07] like he played 19 league 90s and this was the guy with the
[42:10] Balandor campaign. But hey, it's a luxury like no
[42:13] other. Gerard let them.
[42:15] They, they spent 15 years working to this.
[42:17] And hey, when, now that they're here, you know, guys, you, you
[42:20] pick your battles wisely. Guys, if you want to buy a club,
[42:22] buy it in France. Don't go by Man City.
[42:24] It's not it. Look what happens.
[42:25] Pick your battles in life, folks.
[42:29] It's too funny. No, Look, PSG is good and
[42:31] they're going to be a tough out, clearly.
[42:33] Yes, I would consider them the favorites.
[42:36] I think look, Real Madrid gets into any knockout stage of any
[42:39] club competition. I think because of the quality
[42:42] on this squad, you have to give us at a minimum of fighting
[42:45] chance, right? Just because of the the raw
[42:47] talent, because Kelly and Bobby can just trick off and literally
[42:50] score a hat trick because he's that good, right?
[42:52] Vinny, Like it just shit can just happen because individual
[42:55] brilliance, right? We've seen it in the past.
[42:57] But I think, you know, Uvay was a down year for them.
[43:01] So I'm not really thinking, thinking, thinking too much
[43:03] about that. Inter Inter still need a
[43:04] vacation too. Yeah, they're.
[43:06] Cooked. Man, them dudes are really
[43:08] cooked, athletic. The way they looked in that PSG
[43:10] game, I was like, oh, you guys are not looking thrilled with
[43:13] life right now. Yeah, no, no, they're not.
[43:16] They're they're just like, I think they want to have a team
[43:18] as strong as 20/13/14 and 20/15/16 and they're not there.
[43:22] And I the frustration levels right now are off the charts
[43:26] because it's a lot of subtle things, not having a star like
[43:29] Griezmann anymore. And yeah, just so many small
[43:31] things. But yeah, I'm not right.
[43:33] The thing about Athletic is they're always like open to a
[43:36] knockout upset if they make it very hard to play in a one off
[43:39] game. And he's weird.
[43:41] He's weird too. Like he he'll like work them
[43:43] hard in freezes. He won't care about La Liga.
[43:45] He'll he'll work them hard this season and then he'll work hard
[43:48] in the game against us and he'll rotate them against Barcelona.
[43:50] But. I love it, I love it.
[43:55] So if we play Athleti, that's just the sad thing, like if we
[43:58] play them, they're actually like a harder team to play them.
[44:00] What we saw. Please know athleti thank.
[44:03] You. I don't wanna play them right.
[44:04] Byron Look, yes, they played plumbers and whoever and
[44:09] lawyers, but. And gaming streamers and.
[44:12] Game streamers but Byron Byron had a good season this year and
[44:16] they are they're going to be a tough out when they get to the
[44:19] knockout round that's another a big European giant to be to be
[44:21] wary of. So let's, let's not let, let's
[44:24] not lose our minds here, yeah? Also wait just want to on that
[44:28] note why are a semi pro team in this goddamn tournament?
[44:31] Like are you guys out of your minds?
[44:33] Like are you guys stupid who organized this thing?
[44:34] Like fired him now? Yeah.
[44:36] I just think it's the way that the qualifications work.
[44:39] So that particular New Zealand team happened, you know, it's
[44:41] just. Have you gone to any games
[44:43] you're out? I heard they're all like 5
[44:45] bucks. Like cheaper than an In-n-out
[44:46] burger now? Well, the Real Madrid games
[44:49] aren't, that's for sure. Yeah, everybody else's games are
[44:51] $5. Real Madrid games, from what I
[44:53] see, you're selling out and are not $5.
[44:55] No, cuz we're we're it's so funny.
[44:57] I'm like, yeah, yeah, it can all be cheap, but not to be CM
[44:59] Boppe. Like we literally have too many
[45:00] stars and superstars on this team.
[45:02] It's so hard. Yeah.
[45:03] None. None of those games are cheap.
[45:04] Yeah, if you look at the stands, all that and they were giving
[45:06] away tickets to the Enter Miami opener on Saturday.
[45:09] So yeah, those games, sure, you'll get some cheap stuff.
[45:12] But Real Madrid, no chance. I already looked on like the
[45:14] secondary ticket market. I'm like, get the hell out of
[45:16] here. I'm not paying that kind of
[45:17] money. So yeah, it's funny.
[45:19] We're carrying this tournament now it's listen, we're carrying
[45:22] it. Well, not us, but the few big
[45:24] teams. A few big teams.
[45:25] Like the the big European clubs, I want to talk about Carreras,
[45:27] Sid, a really quick redshift. What we really need are three
[45:30] players, a tall striker, a Tony Cruz set midfielder and a solid
[45:33] left back. So we're talking about left back
[45:34] right now in Carreras. We do need a a heading profile
[45:38] #9 and I think the club will address that.
[45:41] Again, the transfer window does not close until September or
[45:43] whatever when it reopens next week.
[45:45] So I think the club will address that.
[45:47] We actually discussed this in one of our earlier episodes.
[45:49] You guys should go back and look at that.
[45:51] There's no Tony Cruz type that doesn't exist.
[45:54] There's one Tony Cruz. He's a one of one.
[45:55] There was one that could have been.
[45:56] Then Chelsea ruined him. Enzo Fernandez.
[45:59] But Sid and I talked about how between Trent Dean and our
[46:04] various that we will be able to replicate a Tony Cruz type of
[46:07] build up in what we do, right. So they will we'll never replace
[46:10] this. There's no, no, we're not
[46:11] getting Tony Cruz reincarnate Not happening.
[46:13] But I think with the players and profiles that we have, we're
[46:16] going to be able to replicate, replicate somewhat of what Tony
[46:20] was able to do. So what's what I did when I
[46:23] watched Benfica play shit, who they played Benfica played Oh,
[46:29] OK, and the others here from Argentina's great clubs.
[46:35] I watched Carreras and I said in if Fran and it's it's bad to do
[46:42] this, but this is the way I did it in my head.
[46:44] OK, Fran and Mendy were in similar positions with us.
[46:48] What would they do in this scenario?
[46:51] And I was like, oh God, like so. And this is it makes it sound
[46:54] like I'm shitting on Fran and and I'm not.
[46:57] It's just that Alvaro Carreras, his baseline, he's like floor is
[47:02] just so much higher right. He's just a more competent left
[47:06] back in both halves going forward and playing defense.
[47:10] Sid like his just ability to like he struggled with a couple
[47:13] of his long balls, like miss Mistiming, like lengths that I
[47:16] watch, which I'm less worried about that, But just his ability
[47:19] to recycle the ball. Sid and like knowing when to
[47:22] push forward when the drop back and being outlet like I was
[47:25] like, Oh my God, and then to make defensive interventions.
[47:29] I was like, all right, man, like I just again, there's a level of
[47:33] competence that he just possesses that we don't have
[47:36] with Fran or Mindy. I don't think Mindy's ever going
[47:38] to get there given his age and all that.
[47:39] I do think chubby can turn Fran back into a into a higher level
[47:47] squad player as a backup for Alvaro Carreras.
[47:50] What say you? Yeah, that's interesting.
[47:53] I just want to turn this into an interesting act of sense making
[47:55] because right now, yesterday, watching Carreras, you got half
[47:58] the opinions of like people like Adityan on the screen right now,
[48:01] the comment we're displaying asking if we saw Carreras saying
[48:04] he's not good enough. A lot of people were saying
[48:06] that. They were saying like, imagine
[48:08] watching this Carreras game, think he's worth 50 million.
[48:10] The other half are watching it like, oh, this is exactly what
[48:12] we need. And I'm just like, you guys are
[48:14] just part of me is just like, are you just seeing what you
[48:17] want to see, man? Like, like what are people
[48:19] seeing? And it's gotten to the point
[48:20] where people know he's playing. Maybe they don't even watch him
[48:23] and they just see like 2 minutes.
[48:24] They get bored, turn it off. They tweet what they want to see
[48:27] the the division and whether he was good enough or not.
[48:29] It's just if you're on rheometer Twitter, it was fascinating
[48:32] yesterday. I did not watch him.
[48:34] And I will just say that I am leaning towards what you say,
[48:37] Gerard, just because we had, I mean, we have our little real
[48:39] deal group. I saw you guys chiming and I
[48:41] know you guys wouldn't be impressed for no reason after
[48:43] you guys have been depressed by Fran and Mendy for so long.
[48:46] So I I leaned towards saying like, you know, just just look
[48:51] back on who was saying he played well and didn't last night.
[48:53] Look back on the transfer in the future and just look back on
[48:56] this moment, folks, because a lot of people are trying to act
[48:58] like he was horrible yesterday, that we shouldn't sign him. 64
[49:01] touches, 3438 passes, 30 or 4 successful dribbles again you
[49:04] struggle with the long ball, 2O4 and O5 on crosses, but crosses
[49:08] that all that's on the other end defensively, 2 clearances, 1
[49:11] interception and one block shot. Now again he's on Benfica, which
[49:16] solid no top club surround Carreras to.
[49:20] However, with the elite talent on Real Madrid, he's going to
[49:25] look a lot better with a lot of those things because talent
[49:28] lifts, right? It's what I said all the time
[49:30] about young guys in Castillo and bringing them up or not.
[49:33] You'll know if they're good right away because if you cannot
[49:36] play next to Jude Bellingham, Fette, Valverde early, then
[49:40] you're not good. Good elite talent raises this
[49:45] the floor for everybody. And if you can't play with those
[49:48] guys, then I know you're not any good because they're they're the
[49:50] best of the best. So I think you surround Carreras
[49:53] with our kind of players as Gokhiahir says that he's going
[49:57] to look better because great players, rising ties, lift all
[49:59] ships, right. Again, we're not asking to be
[50:02] Marcelo like I I think that's what a lot of people are saying
[50:04] because that's why they want Miles Lewis Skelly.
[50:05] Yeah, I'd like Miles Lewis Skelly too. 19 whatever.
[50:08] You know how much money it's going to cost to get him.
[50:10] And I don't think we need that. Honestly.
[50:12] We just need a left back who can advance forward and have
[50:16] different options crossing being outlet right Like we we don't
[50:19] need. An guys Carreras.
[50:21] Guys, Carreras is our it's like we'll get Skelly later.
[50:26] Like we got Trent, you know, we didn't get, we couldn't get
[50:27] Trent right after we beat him in the final.
[50:29] And that wasn't realistic Guy, it's the same.
[50:32] It's just. It's just so funny though,
[50:33] whenever I'm like, oh, this guy that looks like a top three
[50:36] player in the world generation for this club and it's like, oh,
[50:38] Realminder wanted. It's so funny.
[50:39] And always it's like clockwork. Like it's like, oh, that guy,
[50:42] he's legit. And then we're linked to him so
[50:44] soon. I mean, it's no different to
[50:45] when you could say like someone like City went after Jamal and
[50:47] Baldy. It's just so funny to me that
[50:50] we're so blatant about it, like, hey, Saliba and Skelly are the
[50:52] two best players in our metrics and I test like, hey, we're
[50:55] going to call them. We're yeah, we're just going to
[50:57] call them. We don't care who you are.
[50:58] We don't care if you're Arsenal. We're going to tell them to run
[50:59] down their contract if they want to do it.
[51:02] If if he wants to come here, he will do it and he will run down
[51:06] his contract. He won't sign an extension and
[51:08] we'll get him in two years or whenever, whenever his deal is
[51:11] up. But again, I think Carreras is
[51:14] exactly what we need just and I think also on the playing the
[51:19] opposite flank of Trent, who was going to be pushing forward a
[51:22] lot, right? And and and and being a big part
[51:24] of a build up play. Because I think in a lot of
[51:26] situations, we're going to end up being not that we line up
[51:29] this way. So it start the start the the
[51:31] matches this way, but we're going to end up three at the
[51:33] back sometimes in many in many scenarios.
[51:35] And I think it's fine to have Carreras back there next to
[51:38] Rudiger and whomever else drops back in into that third spot.
[51:42] Yeah, yeah, no, he he looks like he can play left center back as
[51:44] well as left back. Like he has the distribution on
[51:46] the feet without dribbling. And then when he dribbles, he's
[51:48] not trying to go advance it too far.
[51:50] He's just trying to escape the press.
[51:51] So those two qualities are key. You know, Carvajal brings a lot
[51:55] of those same qualities and deep build up while also being able
[51:58] to overlap. Like again, Carvajal is the best
[52:01] or joint best right back since 2010.
[52:02] Like him, Danielle of this Trent, like we're we're talking
[52:04] the three best. And so on that note, yeah.
[52:09] And also I'll lastly say the the view of clips I saw of Carreras
[52:12] looked fine to me. It's just funny to me that you
[52:13] could watch that game and conclude he's not good enough.
[52:15] Yeah. I, I, that's something that
[52:17] drives me nuts. I'm like, what do you mean he's?
[52:18] Not well, that's what I'm saying.
[52:19] I feel like people like just going back to like the rheometer
[52:22] quotes being stuff we say on Twitter.
[52:23] I just feel like people just regurgitate things they're
[52:25] reading from someone else now. Like do you want, you just don't
[52:28] want him to be good enough. Like you've read it somewhere,
[52:29] you believe it, and now you just want what you read and said a
[52:32] few weeks ago to continue being true.
[52:34] You don't watch the game. You just tweet whatever you
[52:36] think about the game. It's crazy to me and.
[52:38] Exactly. The lack of sense making like,
[52:40] yeah, that's where, you know, just watch the games yourselves,
[52:43] build your own opinions, guys always say think for yourself.
[52:45] And especially in this case now beyond Carreras, you, you, you
[52:50] were you wanted to start this a little later so you could watch
[52:52] Mr. Franco. I've been getting into a little
[52:55] battle with some people on Twitter about Franco.
[52:57] And I'll just preface it here. Everyone's calling him some Arda
[53:00] Gulaire or And like, how is Enrique going to play?
[53:02] How's Arda going to play? How's Nico Paz going to play?
[53:04] I'm like, dude, like, you know, how's how's Trent going to play?
[53:08] Like you might as well ask like Trent, he's going to compete
[53:10] with Trent too, right? Or what about like Hoyson?
[53:12] How's Hoyson going to get minutes?
[53:13] Like I I get it. I get they're all like these
[53:16] left footers they're talking about, but glare's a midfielder.
[53:19] I thought the discourse is loud. And then it seems like some
[53:21] percentage of people missed it and they're like, oh, Gulera
[53:23] Franco, which, OK, we'll we'll skip that one.
[53:25] But Gulera's a midfielder, guys. Frank was a winger.
[53:27] Correct. Two, Hendrick doesn't dribble,
[53:29] guys. I don't know what you want.
[53:30] Like he's a, he's a forward who kind of like finishing.
[53:33] Three, Nico passes a midfielder, guys.
[53:35] Oh it's not even that Franco. Like did you, have you not seen
[53:39] wingers from Argentina who cut in from the right who like
[53:41] creating and dribbling? Like he's literally the youngest
[53:44] player to start for Argentina since the last one who did that?
[53:46] There are wingers who are so good they have to play in the
[53:49] half space because you have to utilize their play making.
[53:51] Franco is a protagonist. He he takes the reins.
[53:54] He's like give me the ball. If he was a midfielder, he
[53:57] wouldn't average 5 take ONS a game.
[53:58] He averages 5 take ONS a game by far.
[54:00] Like we I've seen that. Everyone's seen that chart.
[54:02] It's on the Twitter where he averages more take ONS than
[54:05] anyone. You are not taking on guys in
[54:07] the 10 space my guy. If he's going to keep doing
[54:09] that, either we're changing him as a player to what he is now or
[54:11] he's a right winger. That's where it stands and we
[54:13] don't want to change him right like that.
[54:15] So, and this is what I meant when I watched him today.
[54:17] First of all, he was involved in River's first goal, so he was
[54:22] carrying the ball up from deep. By the way, I like the fact that
[54:24] he does drop deep to get the ball sometimes.
[54:26] He's carrying it up the right side.
[54:27] Then he took it in right cut, cut inwards towards the middle
[54:30] of the middle of the pitch and then sent the ball.
[54:33] He he switched plate to to oh God, I forget the, the, the, the
[54:37] back on that side and the back just set the cross, sent the
[54:39] cross in for a header. I was like, yeah, I was like, I
[54:43] like, I was like, that is what I like.
[54:46] By the way, Mr. Rodrigo ain't really in his bag.
[54:50] Rodrigo is not, that's the thing for this so-called combination
[54:53] player. He's not a high volume passer.
[54:55] And that's like the biggest, toughest profile.
[54:59] That's the toughest profile to fit in.
[55:00] Like the guy who's good at a lot of things but not good at
[55:03] creation or like play making or great finishing, like who's just
[55:07] kind of middling in all those areas.
[55:08] Yeah. And also like, I mean, just, I
[55:12] don't care. Just watch one highlight clip.
[55:13] When's the last time our players outstretched their left foot on
[55:16] the right wing to like keep a ball in on the right wing on the
[55:18] right touchline? Like they're not even there
[55:21] because they can't even make that run.
[55:22] They're all too busy cutting in way before and I don't care if
[55:25] it happened a little inverted in the box.
[55:26] That one touch I saw, I've seen enough to know he's a right
[55:28] winger. I think it's just kind of
[55:30] disgraceful. Like how many of you are you
[55:32] guys not watching this team? Like like I just and I know it's
[55:35] been years since we had a right winger, but it's like nobody
[55:37] watched the three beat dude. We used to have Bill like
[55:39] tearing it up that like Asencio and when Bill was like hurt and
[55:43] like coming back from injury, Asencio was doing it.
[55:44] And we used to have ruthless standards for how the guy in the
[55:47] right wing would go up and down De Maria.
[55:49] And now it's like, hey, like keep Rodrigo.
[55:50] He's he's the only right winger in the squad.
[55:52] I'm like, what dude? He's a .2 goals and assists on
[55:54] the right like. Yeah, listen, and your point
[55:57] about about Franco being a protagonist, Sid, I don't know
[56:01] how many take ONS he did in that match.
[56:02] I was like, Jesus, he's relentless in that way and we'll
[56:06] like GO1V3, I don't give a shit. I'm like, listen, there's
[56:09] something some moxie about that that I like, right?
[56:12] He has he's only 17, so physically he has more room to
[56:16] grow and fill out. Like I just think like he's
[56:18] going to be tough to dispossess when he gets out there.
[56:21] I love that he cuts in right and he will tuck in sometimes even
[56:24] like he won't just stand on the touchline the whole time, right,
[56:26] Like he will come to tuck in invert right, I'll get the ball
[56:30] here, I'll drop deep. I mentioned now that's all the
[56:32] good, some of the bad He when he loses the ball taking on one on
[56:39] three or when they get out of possession, he will sometimes
[56:42] have a chance to like pout and like put his head down and drop
[56:45] his hands to the side while the play is continuing on and
[56:48] running past him. Right now he is 17, so I'm going
[56:50] to give him some grace on that. Now that is a problem as we know
[56:54] that happens from other two other people in the front in the
[56:56] front of our team right now. We can't have we can't have
[56:59] three dudes that do that, OK? I I would give credit to
[57:01] Killian. Killian stays involved in the
[57:03] play and like, because he's so good at the runs.
[57:05] But yeah, no, we've had that happen before.
[57:08] We can't have deuces like all right now I'm mad.
[57:10] So I'm just going to stand here with my hands on my hips.
[57:12] I'm pissed now that the ball is flying behind me.
[57:13] So he doesn't get better at that.
[57:15] And you know, and when we are out of possession and the other
[57:20] team has it, I did notice he was a little bit high up the pitch
[57:24] and not really involved too much defensively, right.
[57:26] And I think again, I don't, I'm not asking to be a world class
[57:29] freaking like defender, but he's going to have to engage a little
[57:32] bit more on that end. The kids 17 years old.
[57:34] So I'm not worried about that. Again, chubby can mold him into
[57:39] whatever he's going to be. Again, physically, I think he
[57:41] has he definitely has room to grow.
[57:43] But folks, that left foot is lethal.
[57:46] Right cut, cutting in on that, on that left foot.
[57:48] I'm like, oh man, I can just imagine the joy coming in on
[57:51] that side. What what we can do.
[57:53] And again, now that's gravity that sucks that way.
[57:55] He has a gravity to him, right? So when he starts sucking people
[57:58] towards him, what do you think that's going to mean for the
[58:00] middle and the other side of the pitch?
[58:02] Good stuff. Good stuff happening, right?
[58:04] No more. Yeah, scamming 1O1V5-GO Biddy,
[58:07] go make something happen. Like none of that anymore.
[58:10] Yeah, and he just, he seems like a natural fit on the right, like
[58:13] just none of our players, Nico Guler, they just don't do it on
[58:16] the right wing. They can't carry the flank like
[58:18] defenders can press up on them because you know, they're not
[58:21] like Franco's not going to occupy create any gravity where
[58:23] he pushes the defenders back to their box because they know as
[58:26] soon as you get close to the like corner flag, you're cutting
[58:29] in. You don't want to play out wide.
[58:31] You, you don't want to go there. They know where you're going.
[58:34] People just comment redshift asking if Franco's playmaking
[58:36] reminds me of messy. Franco's positioning and profile
[58:39] at that age remind me of messy now.
[58:41] As I said, with him all I'm going to be consistent.
[58:44] It's almost impossible to go from projecting like messy to
[58:46] becoming messy. It's just a it's even if you
[58:48] project that way, It's just what he did is crazy, something, said
[58:51] Talk. About his creation and like his
[58:53] I mean it's not even like peak season.
[58:54] It's like every season for like 10 years.
[58:56] It's peak creation and goal scoring.
[58:57] It's fucking. Yeah, yeah, well, it's not, it's
[58:59] goal scoring without needing to get on the end of the same
[59:01] quality chances as Ronaldo. While he's like he's he's
[59:04] shooting 5 yards deeper. He's not tall, he's not heading
[59:06] the ball. He's shooting into tiny windows
[59:08] and all the windows are shooting are created by his dribbling,
[59:11] which is honestly like Ronaldo was great, other players as
[59:14] dribbling created some of the windows for him.
[59:16] Messi created the windows with his own dribbling and with the
[59:18] fear of the past. He would create windows out of
[59:20] nowhere. It's very special and mainly,
[59:25] but The thing is Franco plays in the same zones I think and
[59:27] that's where some people called him like De Maria.
[59:29] They said like glare, Ozil, Franco, De Maria.
[59:32] I like that comp a lot besides the fact that they're coming
[59:35] from the same country. But even just the profiles, I
[59:38] think Franco has potential. What if his like play making
[59:41] doesn't become top one percentile?
[59:43] He's willing to let go of the ball.
[59:44] That's what we see with the play making.
[59:46] So he'll be good at actions. I think he from what I've seen,
[59:48] I just feel like he is explosive.
[59:50] I think he will beat his man. That's why why I feel like he
[59:53] plays wide right. But yeah, I mean, he's.
[59:55] Faster than Rodrigo right now. Yeah, that's the thing I'm
[59:59] wondering when I'm just watching like.
[1:00:00] I think you're faster than Rodrigo right now.
[1:00:02] So so on that note, I actually think he fits our starting
[1:00:04] lineup better than Rodrigo already.
[1:00:06] I think he would play better next to Vinnie, Killy and Jude
[1:00:08] in a 4231. I genuinely think that he is an
[1:00:11] upgrade now. And like for me, the left footed
[1:00:14] right winger was as important as the striker.
[1:00:16] You know, I I really felt like going into a season without one
[1:00:18] would just kind of be like running our head against the
[1:00:21] wall and just banging it for no reason.
[1:00:22] Just get the profile that opens everything up for you.
[1:00:26] I'm hyped for him. I'm glad we beat PSG to him.
[1:00:28] That was a big significant statement signing.
[1:00:30] Like at this time when they won, they could have got him.
[1:00:32] And it sounds like he literally said, like it sounds like he
[1:00:35] forced his agents to fix their relationship with our club and
[1:00:38] force his way here. Listen, we love you already,
[1:00:40] buddy. Like we love you at the real
[1:00:41] deal. Franco is the real deal.
[1:00:44] Well, we as a club, we want players who want to play at Real
[1:00:50] Madrid. And look, you know what me said?
[1:00:52] I am not one of these people that believes in fucking
[1:00:54] mystique and aura and all that bullshit.
[1:00:56] Like, I just don't like whatever.
[1:00:58] Yes, this club is a storied history, but that isn't why we
[1:01:01] win, right? We don't beat a team in the 2026
[1:01:04] Champions League final because of what we did in 2022 and 2020.
[1:01:09] That's not the reason why we win, because we're better than
[1:01:11] that, OK? It isn't like, oh, they come and
[1:01:13] they're scared of like our history.
[1:01:14] That's scared of our history. Scared because the current team
[1:01:17] they're facing is good as shit and hard to beat.
[1:01:20] That's why we beat teams. But it takes a special kind of
[1:01:25] player to play for this club because you know, you fuck up
[1:01:29] once or you don't deliver as promised and yo, it's curtains
[1:01:32] man. The crowd's booing you.
[1:01:34] Spanish press is killing you every day and on TV, on radio El
[1:01:38] Chicha Ringo TV is going ham like and some people can't
[1:01:41] handle that. Like right, like I should think
[1:01:43] that some people cannot deal with.
[1:01:45] I will bring this up against. I thought it was good on him and
[1:01:48] it's because I love him. I think he can be the best DM in
[1:01:50] the world after the Burnabout crowd booed and whistled the
[1:01:53] hell out of Chua Many my man, from that point on, once he got
[1:01:57] back to his rightful position, which is DM, was the best DM in
[1:02:00] world football. Like, OK, so some people can
[1:02:04] handle that. Oh, they booed me.
[1:02:06] OK, you know, maybe they were right, whatever, but I'll show
[1:02:08] them my quality matters. Not everybody can handle that.
[1:02:11] And a player who wants to come here, who knows?
[1:02:13] That is a possibility. That's the kind of people we
[1:02:15] want on this club. It's just funny, like the optics
[1:02:18] of football, like the team that boos their own players also has
[1:02:21] more champions leagues than the next 5 clubs combined.
[1:02:23] Like for the last. Decade, I mean, look, we don't
[1:02:25] even got to like, you know, people love doing the whole
[1:02:27] thing where they're like, oh, Madrid, if you guys didn't have
[1:02:31] dictator Franco pulling all the strings.
[1:02:33] So I love to say, OK, take away every Champions League we won
[1:02:37] from 2000 and prior, but those don't exist, right?
[1:02:40] By the way, Franco died in 78, so he'd been dead by 2000 for a
[1:02:43] bazillion years at that point. OK, take away all those titles,
[1:02:46] I guess. Who still has the most Champions
[1:02:47] League titles? Oh, wait, it's Real Madrid,
[1:02:50] right? So I don't want to hear this
[1:02:51] bullshit about you're No, no, no.
[1:02:53] Listen, we beat you in the early iteration of this, the middle
[1:02:57] and the late. It's just.
[1:02:58] It is what it is. Well, they were Liverpool fans
[1:03:01] were like enjoying the booing Trent and like he'll enjoy and
[1:03:03] the rings. I'm sure he won't have the
[1:03:05] disappointment of knowing that the team whose players Boo them
[1:03:07] like just cooked you in the final as if it didn't matter.
[1:03:10] He'll have the at least he'll have the he won't have the shame
[1:03:12] of knowing that like every time he gets there, he's just a joke
[1:03:15] that loses to some the same team he lost to us four times.
[1:03:18] Like it's deep in his psyche at this point.
[1:03:19] But yeah, one one person asked here Aditya, who deserves a
[1:03:24] start between Art and. Frame what I want you to do, Sid
[1:03:27] give me with who we have right now and also assume Carreras is
[1:03:31] here. So I'll I'll add that caveat.
[1:03:34] Who is your dream 11? Go.
[1:03:37] Carreras Hoisen, Drudinger healthy over Ascencio and then
[1:03:43] Trent Kibo. Obviously we don't need to say
[1:03:46] it, but. Obviously Kibo and then it's
[1:03:48] going to be Vinnie and Bape Jude and it's going to be Aurelian
[1:03:53] and Fete and it's gonna be Mr. Camavinga and I think the
[1:03:59] they're gonna be. But here's the thing.
[1:04:00] I think we really are past the phase of dream 11 needs to play
[1:04:03] 60 games a season or even 30. Correct.
[1:04:06] I think like we've seen it before, dude, like teams don't
[1:04:08] bring their like some of the great teams in the past have
[1:04:11] brought their gala 11 out mid year.
[1:04:12] They don't find it till later. Carlos Madrid with 2013
[1:04:15] fourteen. They didn't find it until the
[1:04:16] middle of the year, if not January itself.
[1:04:18] Like De Maria was not in midfield the whole season.
[1:04:21] Like at least the first few months.
[1:04:22] They didn't even realize that was an option.
[1:04:23] Yep, Luis Enrique's Barcelona where he was fighting with
[1:04:27] Neymar and Messi on the bench in January and then they play the
[1:04:30] same line up like every week to close the season after rotating
[1:04:33] all year and boom. So I think in that note, I
[1:04:36] actually think like our go to line up is going to be two of
[1:04:39] the three of Cama Vinga for the betterment of the team.
[1:04:43] I think in big games we might see all of them, but here I
[1:04:46] think it's quite possible. Cama Vinga or I think it's, it's
[1:04:50] definitely possible given injuries too.
[1:04:52] I should say I don't, I don't think it's gonna be as rigid as
[1:04:54] Carlo. I think Fete, if he's like
[1:04:56] having a little, not niggle, not having the best week, yeah, he's
[1:04:59] gonna sit him and play Camo Minga and do the fete role.
[1:05:02] But I think our Gala 11 might have all three of the defensive
[1:05:05] minded players cuz dude, the range with those guys.
[1:05:07] Oh my God, I love Arda. Arda needs to show that he's
[1:05:10] doing more with the ball then Camelman is bringing with and
[1:05:13] without the ball in totality. He has not done that in a big
[1:05:17] game or a big environment in the way Camelman guys in the World
[1:05:19] Cup final. So I need to see it.
[1:05:21] But with that being said, against small teams, get cooler
[1:05:24] in one in for one of those guys. That's our go to option in the
[1:05:27] midfield. Get guys to run around him.
[1:05:30] Let when he gets the ball guys make runs.
[1:05:32] So yeah. And also one of my first options
[1:05:35] off the bench this season is Franco.
[1:05:37] Like, I I actually think that's the perfect profile.
[1:05:39] Him and Brahim will compete, but Brahim can come in for Jude.
[1:05:42] Franco can come in for yeah, Bape like get get some guys in.
[1:05:45] And I think, yeah, I think Franco, Cama, Vinga, Guler, all
[1:05:50] these guys who might not start, we're gonna have a huge new
[1:05:53] bench hero. Like other than Brahim this year
[1:05:54] is my prediction. It may be multiple like Morata
[1:05:57] 2017. Which by the way, is helpful
[1:06:00] because I think that war on Brahim this past season, right
[1:06:03] too much on this Brahim come in, change the game.
[1:06:05] It's like, dude, can anybody else do anything?
[1:06:07] It's just me. Two years ago it was awesome,
[1:06:09] right? Not so not so great last year,
[1:06:11] right? And added the Aditan at the
[1:06:15] buzzer says I'm not saying Curtis is bad.
[1:06:17] I think the best option that we have is a Miles Lewis Skelly.
[1:06:19] We're right not going for him in a few years.
[1:06:21] You know, I think you miss what Sid said.
[1:06:23] I think the club will go for him in a few years.
[1:06:26] He's not. I think he's not an option now
[1:06:27] is what I'm arguing. Like you just don't leave
[1:06:29] Arsenal. It's like trying to get Trent
[1:06:30] when he after he made his first final.
[1:06:32] He's like, dude, I, I don't even I haven't even beat my rookie
[1:06:34] contractor. You haven't even signed a second
[1:06:35] contract yet. So I, I think yes, I think when
[1:06:39] he is, when that contract runs down, I think if he's interested
[1:06:41] in Madrid, Madrid will talk to him and say let your contract
[1:06:43] run down and we'll get you on free in three years.
[1:06:45] And whenever, whenever that happens, we'll we'll see what
[1:06:47] happens. Sid, we plan on doing just 45
[1:06:51] minutes and as always we went over, it's an hour and 6
[1:06:54] minutes. Listen people, this is what we
[1:06:55] give you. Look at all this bonus content
[1:06:57] and by the way, all of it is free, cost you $0.00.
