Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market, a look at the notable movers: On this episode of Stock Movers: - Intel (INTC) suffered its worst stock rout in more than four decades due to a PC industry slump and supply-chain snags that hurt its forecast. The company projects sales of $15 billion to $16 billion in the fourth quarter, with profit of 25 cents a share, excluding certain items, which is lower than analysts' estimates. Intel's stock fell as much as 30% in New York trading, and the company expects the PC downturn to persist through at least the first half of 2027, with a decline of 10% next year. - Amazon.com (AMZN) shares dropped after the company reported greater capital spending than anticipated and the slowest growth in the core e-commerce business in three years. Revenue at the cloud unit, Amazon Web Services, accelerated for the sixth straight quarter, while online sales gained just 2% to $68.5 billion, the lowest increase since early 2023. The company spent more than $77 billion on property and equipment in the third quarter, and projected profit in the holiday quarter of $28.5 billion to $33.5 billion, with sales in the holiday period expected to be $240 billion to $247 billion. - Reddit (RDDT had its biggest share drop since its initial public offering after saying it is planning to limit access to its online forums. The company plans to start testing different approaches in markets outside of the US throughout the fourth quarter to get users to register for accounts and deepen engagement. Reddit’s shares fell to $95 when trading opened in New York on Friday, after the company posted a revenue outlook that fell below analysts’ estimates. [0:08] Speaker 2: The Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves
[0:12] Speaker 2: in the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today.
[0:18] Speaker 1: I'm Tim Stenevek. Along with Jess Metten, we're joined by
[0:20] Speaker 1: Bloomberg TV Markets correspondent, Nora Melinda. Nora, some stocks making
[0:26] Speaker 1: big moves to the downside that are weighing on these
[0:28] Speaker 1: indexes on this Friday. What do you have for us?
[0:31] Speaker 3: Intel. I'm looking at shares of Intel, ticker INTC. The
[0:34] Speaker 3: stock is down more than 30%. And this is all
[0:37] Speaker 3: really due to that slowing PC demand, but also supply
[0:40] Speaker 3: chain concerns when it relates to its data business. And
[0:43] Speaker 3: we've been seeing this pressuring the broader market with its
[0:46] Speaker 3: outlook disappointing. And it's not really... all about just the
[0:50] Speaker 3: AI valuations, but we saw really weak fundamentals. So it's
[0:53] Speaker 3: really pushing it lower. And it's one of the more
[0:55] Speaker 3: extreme examples that we're seeing today, but certainly leading the
[0:58] Speaker 3: market decisively lower. I'm also keeping an eye on names
[1:03] Speaker 3: like Amazon. That is also a stock that I have
[1:06] Speaker 3: in focus. The ticker on that, we all know AMZN.
[1:09] Speaker 3: But this is also a story where we're really thinking
[1:11] Speaker 3: about the CapEx spend here. And, um, that's of course,
[1:15] Speaker 3: pushing that stock lower, looking at shares of Amazon currently
[1:18] Speaker 3: lower by about 2.4%. And, um, you know, of course,
[1:22] Speaker 3: kind of just speaking to that broader sell-off that we're
[1:24] Speaker 3: seeing in the market today.
[1:25] Speaker 1: And this was, this is, um, I think it's fair
[1:28] Speaker 1: to say like one of the most interesting stories to
[1:30] Speaker 1: me is what's going on with Reddit today and the
[1:32] Speaker 1: changes that Reddit is making to its platform. What's it
[1:34] Speaker 1: doing to its stock?
[1:35] Speaker 3: I mean, the stock right now, another name that's in
[1:37] Speaker 3: the red, down 30% right now as we speak. That's
[1:40] Speaker 3: ticker RDDT. Also heading for its worst day on record,
[1:44] Speaker 3: which I do want to point out, Intel also heading
[1:46] Speaker 3: for that size and scope as well. But as you
[1:49] Speaker 3: pointed out, this is because of the fact that since
[1:51] Speaker 3: its IPO, it plans to limit access to its online forums.
[1:55] Speaker 3: And the company is starting to test different approaches in
[1:57] Speaker 3: the markets outside of the United States throughout the fourth
[2:00] Speaker 3: quarter to get users to register for accounts and deepen engagement.
[2:03] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:03] Speaker 1: I mean, on the limiting access, all it has is
[2:05] Speaker 1: you do is just create a username.
[2:06] Speaker 2: Right.
[2:07] Speaker 1: Right. It's not like you have to pay for anything.
[2:08] Speaker 2: Yeah. So I don't know.
[2:09] Speaker 1: I mean.
[2:09] Speaker 2: Like, how does that work?
[2:10] Speaker 1: But the idea is that, like, I don't know why
[2:12] Speaker 1: it's such a big deal. The idea is that they
[2:13] Speaker 1: can then better target advertising. So I don't know why everybody,
[2:16] Speaker 1: I don't know why. I don't know why it's down 30%.
[2:17] Speaker 3: Why it's scare.
[2:18] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:18] Speaker 3: It's just part of a deeper. Down 61% year to date.
[2:21] Speaker 1: Wow. Okay.
