On this episode of Stock Movers: - Intel (INTC) shares plummet as much as 30% on Friday, in biggest intraday drop since at least November 1982, after the chipmaker’s outlook was much weaker than expected, due in part to sluggishness in PCs. Morgan Stanley notes that the quarter is a setback for the company and characterizes the PC correction as severe. - Reddit shares plunge. Reddit Inc. had its biggest share drop since its initial public offering after saying it is planning to limit access to its online forums. The company plans to start testing different approaches in markets outside of the US throughout the fourth quarter to get users to register for accounts and deepen engagement. - Regeneron (REGN) shares climb the most intraday since 2022, after the drugmaker reported revenue and adjusted profit for the third quarter that were ahead of Wall Street’s expectations. [0:02] Speaker 1: Bloomberg Audio Studios, podcasts, radio, news. The Stock Movers Report,
[0:10] Speaker 1: your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market,
[0:13] Speaker 1: harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
[0:15] Speaker 2: Let's take a look at some of the stocks on
[0:18] Speaker 2: the move today. We can do that with Avalon Purnell.
[0:20] Speaker 2: She's equities reporter for Bloomberg News joining us here in
[0:23] Speaker 2: our studio. Avalon, what are you looking at?
[0:25] Speaker 3: Have to start off with Intel, that's ticker INTC, currently
[0:28] Speaker 3: falling 28% most intraday since 2024, though earlier it touched
[0:34] Speaker 3: most intraday on record when it hit 30% lower. And
[0:37] Speaker 3: that's after the chipmaker's outlook was much weaker than expected
[0:40] Speaker 3: and also spurred a downgrade at Bank of America to
[0:43] Speaker 3: neutral as well. Interestingly, though, this is because of makers
[0:47] Speaker 3: of laptops and desktops continue to struggle with those memory shortages.
[0:52] Speaker 3: That's cutting into PC shipments and really hurting demand for
[0:55] Speaker 3: Intel's key customers. And management highlighting that they actually expected
[0:59] Speaker 3: that their company's data center unit could have actually done
[1:01] Speaker 3: a lot better had there not been supply shortages. So
[1:04] Speaker 3: definitely something that will be kind of interesting to continue following.
[1:08] Speaker 2: As a former director of research, I just want to
[1:09] Speaker 2: make it clear. If you downgrade the stock. You downgrade
[1:13] Speaker 2: it at the level which it opens trading today. So
[1:15] Speaker 2: he doesn't get the downgrade at $ 91 a share. He
[1:18] Speaker 2: gets it at $ 66.
[1:18] Speaker 1: Okay.
[1:19] Speaker 2: Where does it go from there? Yeah.
[1:21] Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't realize that. You're darn right you do. Yep. Ah, okay.
[1:25] Speaker 2: That's why a downgrade after an earnings print is pointless.
[1:28] Speaker 2: It's kind of lame.
[1:29] Speaker 1: Okay. I should wait a few days. I know.
[1:31] Speaker 2: Seriously.
[1:31] Speaker 1: Next up for you. Next up, Reddit.
[1:33] Speaker 3: Ticker RDDT. That one is sinking 27% most intraday on record.
[1:40] Speaker 3: And that's after the online forum firm also reported weaker
[1:42] Speaker 3: than expected daily active users for their platform in the
[1:46] Speaker 3: third quarter. They also forecast fourth quarter revenue that fell
[1:49] Speaker 3: short of Wall Street's expectations. Also have another downgrade for
[1:52] Speaker 3: you there at KeyBank, which noted that search traffic is
[1:55] Speaker 3: continuing to be a larger headwind than expected. which is
[1:58] Speaker 3: kind of similar to what we saw earlier this week
[2:00] Speaker 3: from Alphabet, which also reported less ad revenue than expected
[2:03] Speaker 3: because of how AI is really changing some user behavior.
[2:07] Speaker 2: Did I tell you I use Reddit?
[2:09] Speaker 1: No. See?
[2:10] Speaker 2: Yep.
[2:10] Speaker 1: How about that?
[2:11] Speaker 3: You have the app on your phone.
[2:13] Speaker 1: I have the app on my phone. You did not
[2:14] Speaker 1: set up a login yet.
[2:15] Speaker 2: No.
[2:15] Speaker 3: Wait, you're joking.
[2:16] Speaker 1: I do have it.
[2:17] Speaker 2: It's on the phone. What I found is it's just gossip, basically.
[2:21] Speaker 1: It is. Okay. People like gossip, Paul.
[2:24] Speaker 2: Sometimes it is. I'll type in a topic that's interesting
[2:27] Speaker 2: and see what all the.
[2:28] Speaker 1: Hoyt lawyers say.
[2:28] Speaker 3: So you have not contributed is what you're saying?
[2:31] Speaker 1: No.
[2:32] Speaker 2: No.
[2:32] Speaker 1: No, please. He has no plans to.
[2:33] Speaker 2: I have no plan to. But there are people, the
[2:35] Speaker 2: young folks are all out there doing it. So that's
[2:37] Speaker 2: a good thing. One more for us.
[2:39] Speaker 3: Yes, Regeneron, that's ticker R-E-G-N. I do have a bright
[2:42] Speaker 3: spot here. It's jumping 12% most intraday now since 2022.
[2:48] Speaker 3: And that's after the biotech reported revenue and adjusted profit
[2:51] Speaker 3: that surpassed Wall Street's expectations. Learink calling the results exceptional,
[2:55] Speaker 3: noting that they were mostly driven by really great drug sales,
[2:59] Speaker 3: especially for its blockbuster collaboration with Sanofi, which is Dupixent.
[3:03] Speaker 3: And so definitely something that we're gonna be keeping an
[3:05] Speaker 3: eye on, especially as they continue to expand this collaboration
[3:08] Speaker 3: as well, what could be down the pipeline later on
[3:11] Speaker 3: for their drug sales in the future.
