[0:02] Speaker 1: Bloomberg Audio Studios. Podcasts. Radio. News. The Stock Movers Report,
[0:10] Speaker 1: your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market,
[0:13] Speaker 1: harnessing the power of Bloomberg data. Let's take a look
[0:17] Speaker 1: at some stocks on the move today. Alexis Christophers.
[0:20] Speaker 2: Let's start with Robinhood this morning. I always like their
[0:23] Speaker 2: ticker symbol. It's just hood, H-O-O-D. The stock under pressure
[0:27] Speaker 2: down about 7%. The brokerages, third quarter revenue and earnings,
[0:32] Speaker 2: excuse me, per share, missing estimates. And Also, it saw
[0:37] Speaker 2: some losses in its cryptocurrency business, sort of remains in
[0:40] Speaker 2: this year-long slump. We've got crypto transaction revenue dropping 55%.
[0:45] Speaker 2: Revenue overall rose 12% to $ 1.
[0:47] Speaker 1: 4 billion.
[0:51] Speaker 2: And expenses, they climbed more than expected, up 16 percent. Remember,
[0:55] Speaker 2: this is being driven by higher marketing costs, but also
[0:57] Speaker 2: they launched those Trump accounts because they're sort of housing
[1:01] Speaker 2: the Trump accounts over at Robinhood. So they had to
[1:03] Speaker 2: set aside provisions for credit card losses as well. And
[1:07] Speaker 2: Robinhood reported some paper losses on its stakes in a
[1:10] Speaker 2: couple of closed-end funds. There was Robinhood Ventures 1 and
[1:13] Speaker 2: Robinhood Ventures. Ventures, too, as it continues to branch out
[1:16] Speaker 2: into other areas. So Wall Street not loving what it's
[1:19] Speaker 2: hearing today from Robinhood. But looks like Wall Street loves
[1:23] Speaker 2: what it hears from Etsy today. That stock up 9 percent,
[1:26] Speaker 2: ticker symbol ETSY, the online retail company reporting third quarter results.
[1:32] Speaker 2: That beat on some key metrics here. It logged higher
[1:35] Speaker 2: sales in the third quarter after the number of active
[1:37] Speaker 2: buyers increased for the first time in two years, and
[1:41] Speaker 2: that drove gross merchandise sales growth. The company did say
[1:46] Speaker 2: its chief financial officer is going to depart, and they're
[1:48] Speaker 2: now looking for a successor. The company now expects gross
[1:53] Speaker 2: merchandise sales, again, that key metric, to increase 7% during
[1:56] Speaker 2: the full year, and that was better than expected. Stock's
[1:59] Speaker 2: up 58% year-to-date. It's coming off the bottom, but it
[2:04] Speaker 2: goes down to the struggle here. Every time I go
[2:07] Speaker 2: to Etsy, I win.
[2:10] Speaker 1: Whatever I'm buying at Etsy, it's a smart move. Oh,
[2:13] Speaker 1: that's great.
[2:13] Speaker 2: And, you know, lots of small businesses are on that platform,
[2:18] Speaker 2: so it's nice to support them.
[2:19] Speaker 1: And it's ruthless. People like Five Stars, and people are
[2:21] Speaker 1: always judging everybody in that. Yeah.
[2:24] Speaker 2: You know, just they're out there trying to make it happen.
[2:26] Speaker 2: There you go. Okay, so now we've got– we have
[2:29] Speaker 2: to talk about Wendy's this morning, W-E-N, right? Initially, it
[2:33] Speaker 2: wasn't on my stock movers list, but, I mean, this
[2:35] Speaker 2: news broke this morning, and you can't not talk about it.
[2:37] Speaker 2: Stock is up 16%. Nelson Peltz looks like it's back
[2:41] Speaker 2: on his hedge fund try-on. Looking now to buy Wendy's
[2:45] Speaker 2: for $ 1. 4 billion. Remember, the stock took a big leg
[2:48] Speaker 2: down over the summer when Peltz said he was not
[2:51] Speaker 2: interested in buying the company. So now we're seeing this
[2:54] Speaker 2: interest today. It's taking the stock higher. Wendy's had a
[2:57] Speaker 2: market value. of about $ 1. 2 billion as of yesterday's close.
[3:01] Speaker 2: So this asking price would be a bit of a premium.
[3:03] Speaker 2: Stock is down 70% over the past five years, if
[3:06] Speaker 2: you're looking at that horizon. After operational missteps, weight on traffic,
[3:10] Speaker 2: pressured earnings, we know some of their franchisees were going
[3:13] Speaker 2: to file for bankruptcy. So Wendy's has been going through it,
[3:17] Speaker 2: along with a lot of the fast food chains. $ 1. 2
[3:20] Speaker 2: billion in market cap, $ 4 billion in total debt.
[3:23] Speaker 1: Wow.
[3:23] Speaker 2: Is that it?
[3:25] Speaker 1: You got one more?
[3:26] Speaker 2: Boston Scientific. That is down 10%. This is the medical
[3:29] Speaker 2: device maker. They gave an adjusted earnings per share guidance
[3:32] Speaker 2: for the full year. That fell short of analyst estimates.
