[0:02] Speaker 1: Bloomberg Audio Studios.
[0:04] Speaker 2: Podcasts.
[0:05] Speaker 3: Radio. News. This is the closing bell on the Stock
[0:12] Speaker 3: Movers Report. The companies making moves at the close of U.S.
[0:16] Speaker 3: trading with Carol Masser, Tim Stenevek, Romain Bostic, and Katie Greifeld.
[0:22] Speaker 2: Western Digital, of course, the memory chip company now, memory
[0:26] Speaker 2: storage company, excuse me, now out with its earnings. A
[0:28] Speaker 2: knee-jerk reaction to the upside. as its fiscal first quarter
[0:31] Speaker 2: net revenue comes in slightly above estimates, $ 4. 3 billion. The
[0:36] Speaker 2: street was looking for roughly about $ 4. 2 billion. Adjusted EPS,
[0:41] Speaker 2: $ 4. 64 a share. The street was looking for $ 4. 10, so
[0:44] Speaker 2: a beat on both the top and bottom line. Inventory
[0:47] Speaker 2: right now, as of the end of the last quarter,
[0:49] Speaker 2: at about $ 1. 8 billion. And the company says that looking
[0:52] Speaker 2: ahead to the next quarter, basically the current quarter that
[0:56] Speaker 2: we're in right now, they expect revenue of $ 5. 1 billion,
[0:59] Speaker 2: non-GAAP gross margin of 61%, and non-GAAP EPS of $ 5. 80.
[1:04] Speaker 4: Yeah, WDC is the ticker. I'm looking at movement in
[1:07] Speaker 4: the aftermarket, guys, up about 3.8%. We're seeing investors pushing
[1:11] Speaker 4: up shares of Western Digital. Stock for the year, Tim,
[1:15] Speaker 4: is up about 105%.
[1:16] Speaker 2: Okay, shares of Western Digital up just about 3.8%.
[1:17] Speaker 1: First quarter adjusted EPS coming in at $ 4.
[1:19] Speaker 4: 64.
[1:19] Speaker 1: The estimate was for $ 4. 10. Look, this is a good
[1:26] Speaker 1: view on what the memory chip market is doing. The stock,
[1:30] Speaker 1: as Carol mentioned, has absolutely been on a tear. But
[1:34] Speaker 1: look what happened in Korea. That's where I'll point our
[1:36] Speaker 1: attention because there have been some challenges with the memory
[1:39] Speaker 1: chip makers there.
[1:40] Speaker 3: All right, guys.
[1:40] Speaker 4: We're waiting for some more earnings. In the meantime, let's
[1:42] Speaker 4: go to some of the gainers. Let's go to a
[1:44] Speaker 4: couple of airlines that definitely moved in today's session. We're
[1:47] Speaker 4: talking about Southwest and American Airlines. Southwest, That stock up
[1:52] Speaker 4: about 5.4%. That despite the company cutting its guidance for
[1:55] Speaker 4: the full year due to soaring jet fuel costs. Despite
[1:58] Speaker 4: that gloomier outlook, the airline posted better than expected quarterly
[2:02] Speaker 4: adjusted earnings and operating revenue. The results offering an early
[2:05] Speaker 4: indication that Wall Street sees Southwest's transformation as positioning the carrier.
[2:10] Speaker 4: for stronger returns as the industry contends with one of
[2:12] Speaker 4: its biggest cost challenges in years. We know that things
[2:15] Speaker 4: have been challenging, but investors liking what they got today. American, too,
[2:19] Speaker 4: up almost 3%. They're it, too, cutting its full-year outlook again,
[2:24] Speaker 4: issuing a wide range for fourth quarter loss target due
[2:28] Speaker 4: to persistently higher fuel prices. We have a theme, everybody. Brightside,
[2:33] Speaker 4: premium revenue increased by 23%. Main cabin revenue up 20%
[2:36] Speaker 4: from a year earlier, so Airlines is a standout. And
[2:40] Speaker 4: you're right. Ticker A-L-L-E. Romaine, you are right. Mark the
[2:45] Speaker 4: state down. Allegiant, top in the S & P 500,
[2:49] Speaker 4: up 11%. This, after the residential and commercial door lockmakers,
[2:55] Speaker 4: full-year adjusted earnings per share guidance boost, surpassed Wall Street's expectations.
[2:59] Speaker 2: I mean, I don't even know the last time. A lockmaker.
[3:01] Speaker 2: I know. Yeah. It's an interesting day in the bull market.
[3:05] Speaker 4: Uh, the BI analyst here, Mustafa, of course saying Allegiant guidance,
[3:12] Speaker 4: lift cautious despite high quality beat. So, uh, Stocks up
[3:15] Speaker 4: about 10% here today. A lot of it is because
[3:18] Speaker 4: of what happened today. Hey, and then I just want
[3:19] Speaker 4: to quickly mention Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Yep, both
[3:22] Speaker 4: just trade for a few dollars a share, so keep
[3:24] Speaker 4: that in mind when we talk percentages. But you did
[3:27] Speaker 4: see Fannie Mae up about 12.5%, Freddie Mac up almost 15%. This,
[3:34] Speaker 4: after Pershing Squares Bill Ackman made some comments on CNBC saying... It's, quote,
[3:39] Speaker 4: absolutely politically critical for Fannie and Freddie to be released
[3:41] Speaker 4: from conservatorship before the end of the Trump administration.
[3:44] Speaker 2: Surprise, right?
[3:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, we put forth a very straightforward plan that will
[3:48] Speaker 4: get it done more efficiently. Hey, send your comments to
[3:52] Speaker 4: Remain Boston, because I know people have strong feelings on
[3:55] Speaker 4: that one.
[3:56] Speaker 1: I think people had strong feelings on shares of Meta today.
[3:58] Speaker 1: I mean, shares of Meta were among the biggest decliners,
[4:00] Speaker 1: down 7%. At what point it was down more than 8% today.
[4:04] Speaker 1: This after Mark Zuckerberg told investors the company would bet
[4:07] Speaker 1: even more aggressively on AI. Also, we saw today a
[4:11] Speaker 1: measure of Meta's credit risk at a record high as
[4:13] Speaker 1: plans to ramp up capital spending. reignited fears that tech
[4:17] Speaker 1: giants will issue more debt for the AI build-up. Romain,
[4:19] Speaker 1: I know you're watching some other stocks that are reporting
[4:22] Speaker 1: in the after hours. What do you got for us?
[4:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, let's just do a quick check on Decker. Of course,
[4:25] Speaker 2: the maker of Hoka and Ugg shoes, the knee-jerk reaction. 9%
[4:29] Speaker 2: lower in the after-hours trade after the company said net
[4:32] Speaker 2: sales came in at about $ 1. 48 billion. That's a little
[4:35] Speaker 2: bit light. The street on average was looking for about
[4:37] Speaker 2: $ 1. 51 billion. EPS, though, did come in at about $ 2. 31
[4:41] Speaker 2: a share, accelerating on a year-over-year basis, though, and operating
[4:46] Speaker 2: income in the quarter also beating at about $ 389, we'll
[4:50] Speaker 2: round it up to $ 390 million here. It does look
[4:54] Speaker 2: like the sales number, though, is what everyone is focused
[4:57] Speaker 2: on right now, A slight miss on that number here.
[4:59] Speaker 2: We'll dive a little bit deeper and try to figure
[5:02] Speaker 2: out why.
[5:02] Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll add it all up. And investors don't like it, Romain.
[5:05] Speaker 4: The stock down about 5.5% here in the aftermarket. Keep
[5:08] Speaker 4: in mind, the stock has been under some pressure here
[5:10] Speaker 4: in 2026, down about 18% year-to-date. 9%, almost 9% of
[5:12] Speaker 4: the float, though, guys, is short. Yeah.
[5:17] Speaker 2: Another stock I do just want to check in on
[5:19] Speaker 2: is Bloom Energy. It got caught up in the AI
[5:22] Speaker 2: sell-off downdraft. Their earnings now coming out here, a beat
[5:25] Speaker 2: pretty much on all of the key metrics here. Adjusted
[5:29] Speaker 2: EPS at $ 0.
[5:29] Speaker 4: 94.
[5:29] Speaker 2: The street was looking for $ 0. 68. Revenue at about $ 1. 24 billion.
[5:33] Speaker 2: The street was looking for about $ 1. 1. Again, this is
[5:36] Speaker 2: for the third quarter. Not seeing any guidance here, but
[5:39] Speaker 2: obviously a critical player in the AI infrastructure build-out, basically
[5:43] Speaker 2: provides a lot of these sort of singular hydrogen-powered power
[5:48] Speaker 2: generation devices.
[5:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, if you look at how the company has done
[5:51] Speaker 1: so far this year, shares are actually up 150% despite
[5:55] Speaker 1: today's decline and then the after-hours decline. So going into
[5:57] Speaker 1: this print, investors have been optimistic. To repeat some of
[6:00] Speaker 1: these headlines, Bloom Energy, a third quarter adjusted earnings per
[6:03] Speaker 1: share coming in above estimates at $ 0. 94, third quarter revenue
[6:07] Speaker 1: beating estimates at $ 1. 24, third quarter adjusted EBITDA coming in
[6:10] Speaker 1: above estimates at $ 299. 5 million.
