Today's biggest gainers and decliners in the stock market. On this episode of Stock Movers: • Boeing (BA) cut its full-year aircraft delivery target and said it needs more time to accommodate higher production rates, a surprise reversal that sent the stock tumbling to an 18-month low. The shares dropped as much as 10%, the most since April 2025. The dramatic market reaction shows how investors remain on edge about Boeing’s recovery after years of struggles to get the planemaker back on track. • Hilton (HLT) reported third-quarter earnings that beat expectations after the World Cup kicked off a strong travel season in the US. The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.45, higher than the average analyst estimate of $2.36 in data compiled by Bloomberg. Despite this, shares of Hilton fell. • UPS (UPS) boosted its financial guidance for the year above Wall Street’s estimates, suggesting the courier expects to benefit from high prices and resilient demand through the holiday season. [0:08] Speaker 1: The Stock Movers Report. Your roundup of companies making moves
[0:12] Speaker 1: in the stock market. Harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
[0:17] Speaker 3: I'm Carol Masser along with Tim Stenevik. Let's get to
[0:19] Speaker 3: some stocks on the move on this Tuesday. With us
[0:22] Speaker 3: to do that, Bloomberg News Markets live strategist Tatiana Daria.
[0:25] Speaker 3: She's here in studio. All right.
[0:27] Speaker 2: So let's talk about stocks on the move.
[0:29] Speaker 3: We've got to talk about Boeing.
[0:30] Speaker 2: Yeah, Boeing down here 10%, the second largest decliner in
[0:34] Speaker 2: the S & P 500. That's the largest drop since
[0:37] Speaker 2: the April tariff tantrum, so some pretty significant moves. The
[0:40] Speaker 2: company lowered its full-year aircraft delivery target for the 737
[0:45] Speaker 2: MAX jets, and it says it needs more time to
[0:47] Speaker 2: go to a higher and more sustainable production rate. And
[0:51] Speaker 2: as we know, deliveries are the single most important metric
[0:54] Speaker 2: for this company, so closely watched delivery. That measure has
[0:57] Speaker 2: stagnated in the third quarter, which is what led to
[1:00] Speaker 2: this more cautious view that's largely due to wing manufacturing
[1:04] Speaker 2: and engine delivery issues. CEO Kelly Ortberg there saying that
[1:10] Speaker 2: the stabilization period will stretch into next year and is
[1:13] Speaker 2: asking investors to be more patient. I have to say,
[1:17] Speaker 2: as a passenger, this doesn't look that bad to me.
[1:20] Speaker 4: Okay, well, okay, that notwithstanding, I think it's fair to
[1:25] Speaker 4: say that Boeing investors have been very patient over the
[1:28] Speaker 4: last decade plus that this company has been.
[1:30] Speaker 2: On this turnaround.
[1:31] Speaker 3: It's like one thing after another. So I think it's
[1:34] Speaker 3: kind of tricky, the ups and downs, no pun intended,
[1:37] Speaker 3: but trying to figure out what's the longer-term path, considering
[1:40] Speaker 3: they are investing one of two dominant players, right, when
[1:43] Speaker 3: it comes to jets and big planes in the world.
[1:47] Speaker 3: All right, so Boeing, BA ticker, of course. Let's go
[1:49] Speaker 3: to Hilton.
[1:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, another household name there. Mixed earnings report shares down 2%.
[1:55] Speaker 2: Your ticker is HLT. A bit on the top line
[1:58] Speaker 2: and bottom lines on a strong travel season here in
[2:01] Speaker 2: the U.S. It raised its outlook, but EPS guidance fell
[2:04] Speaker 2: short of estimates. So it is seeing strong U.S. and
[2:08] Speaker 2: European performance, which is sort of encouraging. Revenue per available
[2:12] Speaker 2: room there has risen by about 7%. The weakness, though,
[2:15] Speaker 2: continues in the Middle East and parts of Asia specifically.
[2:19] Speaker 2: in China, which still speaks to their weaker consumers, and
[2:22] Speaker 2: BMO Capital also noting that there are headwinds in the
[2:25] Speaker 2: new development area with these higher borrowing costs. That's why
[2:29] Speaker 2: this company has to lean into its lower-end branding to
[2:34] Speaker 2: continue to drive growth. But broadly, it was described as
[2:37] Speaker 2: a hard bar to meet, as shares were up 20%
[2:42] Speaker 2: this year. So Pretty high expectations going into this.
[2:45] Speaker 3: I was going to say, not too shabby here.
[2:47] Speaker 1: Okay.
[2:48] Speaker 4: So that's Hilton. Some weakness in the Middle East. UPS,
[2:52] Speaker 4: talking logistics.
[2:53] Speaker 2: Those shares have extended gains now to 5% after its numbers,
[2:57] Speaker 2: a beat and raise quarter, as the company is benefiting
[3:00] Speaker 2: from charging higher prices, not only for fuel, but also
[3:04] Speaker 2: because of resilient demand. And strength in the domestic segment
[3:09] Speaker 2: was volume treatment, which to analysts is a good sign
[3:12] Speaker 2: of demand, especially ahead of the holiday season. Another important
[3:17] Speaker 2: update here is that the company appears to be moving
[3:20] Speaker 2: past its headwinds with Amazon, which is formerly its biggest customer.
[3:25] Speaker 2: That effort is sort of wrapping up, and investors here
[3:28] Speaker 2: are looking at brighter days ahead.
[3:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, more volume, that's actually a positive sign, right? And
[3:34] Speaker 3: as we get ready for the holidays, I know there's
[3:35] Speaker 3: a lot of packages coming to my door right now.
[3:38] Speaker 3: Come on, Carol, I.
[3:39] Speaker 4: Thought it was about experiences.
[3:42] Speaker 2: It is, it is.
[3:42] Speaker 4: You can't ship those.
[3:43] Speaker 3: It's also about that stuff that keeps coming in. Tatiana,
