Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market. On this episode of Stock Movers, we take a look at some of the week's biggest gainers and decliners: - Hasbro (HAS) shares rallied this week after the toymakers boosted its adjusted Ebitda guidance for the full year. The improved guidance beat the average analyst estimate. Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Lindsay Dutch says Hasbro’s raised outlook reflects further strength and better-than-expected growth for its Magic: The Gathering game. - Meta (META) shares fell after Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg told investors the company would bet even more aggressively on artificial intelligence. Meta shares fell more than 7% to as low as $648.26, and its credit risk gauge reached a record high. The price of five-year credit default swaps on the company’s debt, which increases as investor concern grows, rose as much as 8.9 basis points to around 119.3 basis points a year, according to ICE Data Services. - GM (GM) shares recorded their worst week in nearly three years, leading a wider selloff in automotive stocks on Friday. Yet, bullish Wall Street analysts are doubling down on the carmaker. GM’s stock fell 9.6% this week, its largest such drop since November 2023, and analysts are saying investors should buy the dip. Shares of GM added to losses on Friday, declining side-by-side with weakness in makers of car parts. Electro-optic technology producer Gentex Corp. and safety system firm Autoliv Inc. both slumped after reporting results premarket. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:12] Speaker 2: in the stock market. Harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
[0:17] Speaker 3: I'm Tim Stenevek, along with Carol Master. Let's take a
[0:20] Speaker 3: look at some stocks on the move this week. We
[0:23] Speaker 3: are joined by Bloomberg News equities reporter, Avalon Purnell.
[0:26] Speaker 4: Hey, Avalon.
[0:27] Speaker 5: Hi, we have to start off with one of the
[0:28] Speaker 5: biggest movers, at least to the upside this week.
[0:31] Speaker 1: That's Hasbro, ticker HAS. This is like surprising to me,
[0:35] Speaker 1: but tell me what happened. I don't know. Was this
[0:37] Speaker 1: on your radar? No.
[0:38] Speaker 4: Okay.
[0:38] Speaker 1: See?
[0:38] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[0:39] Speaker 1: And surprising to you, too.
[0:41] Speaker 2: Yes.
[0:42] Speaker 5: It did surge 19% and its best weekly jump since 2020.
[0:47] Speaker 5: And that's after the toy maker boosted full-year guidance as
[0:50] Speaker 5: stronger-than-expected growth for its Magic the Gathering game and tariff
[0:54] Speaker 5: refunds fueled its third-quarter beat. Citi also noting, though, that
[0:57] Speaker 5: even without this one-time benefit of the tariffs, Hasbro still
[1:01] Speaker 5: would have beaten the street by a whopping $ 100 million.
[1:03] Speaker 1: On adjusted EBITDA. Stock is up 43% year-to-date. Wow, that
[1:09] Speaker 1: is a massive weekly move. So up about 19%.
[1:14] Speaker 3: Okay, so this got to be confused with Mattel.
[1:17] Speaker 4: Okay, Hasbro.
[1:19] Speaker 1: I believe we were not confused that this was not Mattel.
[1:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, but I mean, I always get confused which
[1:24] Speaker 3: brands have which. I know Mattel's Barbie.
[1:26] Speaker 1: Oh, the brands?
[1:27] Speaker 4: Yeah, but.
[1:28] Speaker 1: Hot Wheels, that's Mattel.
[1:30] Speaker 4: Yes, exactly. Hasbro, Nerf, Play-Doh.
[1:35] Speaker 1: I love Plato. G.I.
[1:36] Speaker 5: Joe.
[1:37] Speaker 1: G.I.
[1:37] Speaker 3: Joe. Yeah.
[1:38] Speaker 1: Not so much.
[1:39] Speaker 4: Star Wars, Marvel, Monopoly.
[1:41] Speaker 1: That's all with them?
[1:42] Speaker 4: That's all. Peppa Pig.
[1:44] Speaker 1: Who doesn't love a Peppa Pig?
[1:46] Speaker 3: Dungeons and Dragons. So why is Magic the Gathering so popular?
[1:52] Speaker 3: It's a really good question. I mean, some of my
[1:54] Speaker 3: friends from college are really into it.
[1:55] Speaker 4: Really?
[1:56] Speaker 1: I feel like it's kind of in the same.
[1:57] Speaker 5: Area as D & D, where you have a group
[1:59] Speaker 5: of people who are going to constantly play it.
[2:02] Speaker 3: You know, magic cards were something that we played with
[2:04] Speaker 3: when I was like in fourth grade.
[2:06] Speaker 1: Is that Mattel or Hasbro?
[2:08] Speaker 4: Magic the Gathering.
[2:09] Speaker 1: Oh, Magic the Gathering. What is Magic the Gathering?
[2:13] Speaker 4: It's a card game.
[2:14] Speaker 1: I don't know.
[2:15] Speaker 4: What did you think it was?
[2:17] Speaker 1: I don't know. I put in magic and like puff
[2:20] Speaker 1: the dragon.
[2:20] Speaker 4: Puff the dragon.
[2:21] Speaker 1: No.
[2:22] Speaker 4: I don't know if they have VIP for that.
[2:24] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:24] Speaker 4: Magic the other one. It's like a card game. 1993.
[2:26] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[2:27] Speaker 3: It was big when I was in fourth grade, which
[2:29] Speaker 3: is around 1993, I think, which is crazy.
[2:32] Speaker 4: Yeah. That it's still a thing.
[2:35] Speaker 3: You know what's crazy is my kid, or my eldest,
[2:38] Speaker 3: loves Pokemon cards. And, like, collecting them and trading them
[2:41] Speaker 3: at school.
[2:42] Speaker 1: I have a great nephew who's really hot, too.
[2:47] Speaker 5: If you keep them in good shape.
[2:48] Speaker 4: Yeah, he doesn't keep them in good shape.
[2:50] Speaker 1: You know, toys are meant to be played with.
[2:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, they are.
[2:52] Speaker 1: Just going to put it out.
[2:54] Speaker 5: Meta, yes, also ticker Meta, fell 9.4% in its worst
[2:59] Speaker 5: week since May. And that's after the tech company said
[3:01] Speaker 5: that it plans to spend even more aggressively on AI.
[3:05] Speaker 5: At the same time, a gauge of the firm's credit
[3:07] Speaker 5: risk surged to a fresh record this week and Meta's
[3:10] Speaker 5: bonds weakened. So this environment is really reigniting investor fears
[3:14] Speaker 5: about how exactly Meta is going to fuel this rollout
[3:19] Speaker 5: and potentially are they going to have to issue more
[3:21] Speaker 5: debt to fund this AI build out?
[3:23] Speaker 4: Meta, Instagram, WhatsApp. I'm doing the same thing that I
[3:28] Speaker 4: did with Hasbro.
[3:29] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, we're just going to, you know.
[3:31] Speaker 4: She's going to ignore me.
[3:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Men is down 17% from late September. We've
[3:36] Speaker 1: seen quite a pullback.
[3:37] Speaker 4: It's actually down for the year. Yeah, a little bit.
[3:40] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[3:41] Speaker 1: All right, so, okay, from Meta, where shall we go next?
[3:45] Speaker 5: General Motors, that's ticker GM, also not necessarily the best
[3:48] Speaker 5: week for them. They did slide 9.6% to the close
[3:51] Speaker 5: to end its worst weekly drop in three years. That's
[3:53] Speaker 5: after the carmaker narrowed its full-year profit guidance to reflect
[3:57] Speaker 5: some sliding sales. The CEO also highlighting some intensifying headwinds
[4:01] Speaker 5: on their earnings call earlier this week. Still, analysts still
[4:04] Speaker 5: kind of remain kind of bullish on the stock still,
[4:06] Speaker 5: like Stonex actually writing that they view the sell-off as positive.
[4:09] Speaker 4: A buying opportunity.
[4:10] Speaker 1: So I do feel like you're hearing that like valuations
[4:13] Speaker 1: coming down to earth. And so people are saying, you know,
[4:15] Speaker 1: all right, these are still businesses. Can I just, Hasbro
[4:19] Speaker 1: was the best performing name in the S and P
[4:22] Speaker 1: 500 this week. Go figure.
[4:25] Speaker 4: What? I didn't know.
[4:27] Speaker 1: Silence. Wow. Silence is golden. Not on air. It ain't. Okay.
[4:33] Speaker 3: What?
[4:33] Speaker 4: I didn't know they were. Yeah.
[4:35] Speaker 1: I was just kind of surprised.
[4:36] Speaker 3: All right. I like when you go back to the,
[4:39] Speaker 3: I just, I know, I.
[4:40] Speaker 1: Know, I know that's kind of the brain or lack thereof. Um,
[4:44] Speaker 1: we love you. Thank you so much. So appreciate you.
[4:46] Speaker 1: She is our backdrop. When we start saying things like
[4:49] Speaker 1: shakes her head, no shakes her head. Yes. Avalon Pernell.
