Today's biggest winners and losers in the stock market. On this episode of Stock Movers: - Intel (INTC) is in the red this morning after revenue forecast missed analysts' estimates, hurt by demand for PC processors and supply-chain problems with data center components. - Reddit (RDDT) shares are sinking on plans to limit access to its online forums to get users to register for accounts and deepen engagement. Reddit executives are willing to sacrifice some of the platform's reach to engage a smaller but more engaged audience with insights that will be valuable to advertisers. - Roblox (RBLX) shares are sliding after reported a year-over-year decline in player engagement after deploying more robust child-safety measures. [0:08] Speaker 1: The Stock Movers Report, your roundup of companies making moves
[0:12] Speaker 1: in the stock market, harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
[0:16] Speaker 3: Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today.
[0:19] Speaker 4: And I'm going to say the loser du jour is Intel.
[0:21] Speaker 4: This stock is down 24% here in the pre-market. But
[0:26] Speaker 4: let us remember, it is up about 150% year to date.
[0:29] Speaker 3: That is as of yesterday. It's round trip, right? Yeah, exactly.
[0:33] Speaker 3: All right.
[0:34] Speaker 4: The chipmaker's outlook, much weaker than expected, due in part
[0:38] Speaker 4: to sluggishness in PCs. And that's what a lot of
[0:41] Speaker 4: the analysts in their notes today are calling out. They said, look,
[0:44] Speaker 4: this is pretty horrible. One analyst over at Vital Knowledge said,
[0:48] Speaker 4: he said, but it would have been much worse if
[0:50] Speaker 4: the weakness was caused by data center and AI. He said,
[0:53] Speaker 4: it's not. It's caused by PCs. Third quarter results, earnings
[0:58] Speaker 4: per share beat, but revenue missed. And its outlook was
[1:00] Speaker 4: disappointing across like every metric.
[1:02] Speaker 2: Okay.
[1:02] Speaker 3: Do we own Intel? We are the third largest owner
[1:06] Speaker 3: of the United States.
[1:08] Speaker 1: Alexis Christophers.
[1:09] Speaker 3: Yes, she owns.
[1:10] Speaker 4: I own a piece.
[1:10] Speaker 3: I have skin in the game with Intel.
[1:11] Speaker 1: Yes, you do.
[1:12] Speaker 3: Yes, you do. Yes, we all do. There you go.
[1:15] Speaker 3: It's been a good trade. Before today, the stock was
[1:17] Speaker 3: up 150% year to date. So we're okay. Okay.
[1:21] Speaker 4: Let's move on to... Reddit, the social media platform. It's
[1:25] Speaker 4: also down big time. Are you on this?
[1:27] Speaker 1: I don't get it.
[1:28] Speaker 4: I've tried.
[1:29] Speaker 2: I'm on it. I'm trying to do more on it.
[1:31] Speaker 2: It's what I find is it's gossip. It's like community based.
[1:36] Speaker 1: It's fine.
[1:37] Speaker 2: It's, it's a different source of information, but I don't,
[1:40] Speaker 2: Trust it.
[1:41] Speaker 4: I take it with a grain of salt.
[1:42] Speaker 3: Yes, that's the best way to say it. I don't
[1:43] Speaker 3: get it. Continue.
[1:44] Speaker 4: The stock is down 21%, so apparently Wall Street's not
[1:47] Speaker 4: getting it either. The company's revenue outlook fell below estimates.
[1:52] Speaker 4: Daily active users, we know that's a big metric for
[1:54] Speaker 4: these social media platforms, sank 2% in the U.S. And
[1:58] Speaker 4: here's a big thing. They're going to change their strategy now.
[2:02] Speaker 4: Now you can only, soon, you'll be able to only
[2:05] Speaker 4: access Reddit if you register for an account online. You know,
[2:08] Speaker 4: for two decades, you've just been allowed, like you and me, Paul,
[2:11] Speaker 4: to just jump on there.
[2:12] Speaker 3: That's what I do.
[2:12] Speaker 4: Now that you have to have an account, I don't
[2:14] Speaker 4: know if I'm going to do it.
[2:15] Speaker 3: Yeah, see ya.
[2:15] Speaker 2: No thanks.
[2:16] Speaker 4: So executives say they're willing to sacrifice some of the
[2:19] Speaker 4: reach to engage a smaller but more engaged audience.
[2:23] Speaker 3: We'll see if that works.
[2:24] Speaker 2: My daughter's told me to get on Reddit, and so
[2:27] Speaker 2: she's generally very smart about these things, but I'm not
[2:29] Speaker 2: sure I'm going to do anything more.
[2:31] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's going to take a lot to have me
[2:33] Speaker 4: open an account. Let's go to Roblox, RBLX, the account there.
[2:37] Speaker 4: I take it none of us are on Roblox either.
[2:39] Speaker 1: Nope.
[2:40] Speaker 3: But I pay for it, and I don't know what
[2:42] Speaker 3: it is. It's like in the feed. I'm like, what
[2:44] Speaker 3: the hell is RBLX?
[2:46] Speaker 1: Yes.
[2:48] Speaker 4: Well, you're going to find out a lot about it
[2:49] Speaker 4: right now. It reported a year-over-year decline in player engagement.
[2:53] Speaker 3: Oh, it's games.
[2:54] Speaker 1: Yes, it's gaming.
[2:54] Speaker 4: It's deployed more robust child safety measures. Shocked. Daily active
[2:59] Speaker 4: users falling 9%. Executives are optimistic the company's investment in
[3:04] Speaker 4: AI will pay off. AI affecting this company, too. Roblox
[3:07] Speaker 4: is down, by the way, 16% here in the pre-market.
[3:10] Speaker 4: Take-Two Interactive is going to release Grand Theft Auto 6.
[3:14] Speaker 4: I think also a game none of us play.
[3:16] Speaker 1: Nope.
[3:16] Speaker 4: But some analysts expect that you're going to see inspired
[3:20] Speaker 4: Grand Theft games on Roblox for the younger set for
[3:23] Speaker 4: kids who can't, who are not old enough to play.
[3:24] Speaker 3: All right. My number three and number four offspring, they
[3:27] Speaker 3: play that game. Do they? Roblox? Yeah.
[3:30] Speaker 2: And I kind of encourage it because they get, they
[3:32] Speaker 2: actually communicate real time.
[3:34] Speaker 3: Oh, wait, you mean Grand Theft Auto they play?
[3:36] Speaker 2: Yes.
[3:36] Speaker 3: Oh, okay. And so my guys are talking to each
[3:38] Speaker 3: other and. Helping each other, that's good.
[3:40] Speaker 4: Even if it's through Grand Theft Auto.
[3:41] Speaker 3: Even if it's through a game. A sensitive dad. Exactly.
[3:44] Speaker 4: You'll play Grand Theft Auto.
[3:46] Speaker 1: I'm like texting, what in God's name is this?
[3:50] Speaker 3: I'm with you.
[3:51] Speaker 4: Yeah.
