[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to the Mapswining podcast, and today
[0:03] Speaker 1: I have some sad news for you with a follow
[0:05] Speaker 1: up on Rihe and Jeff. Over the last two weeks,
[0:08] Speaker 1: as we know, rumors have been circulating about re and
[0:11] Speaker 1: Jeff potentially splitting up. When I asked me about this directly,
[0:16] Speaker 1: she said to me, all's good. And I then sat
[0:19] Speaker 1: in this studio, behind this very microphone and I told you,
[0:23] Speaker 1: lovely people listening, how they've essentially been going through a
[0:27] Speaker 1: rough patch, but it seemed that things may now be
[0:30] Speaker 1: on the up. Yeah, well about that. A load of
[0:35] Speaker 1: their followers have now noticed over the last like say,
[0:38] Speaker 1: twenty four hours, how they've unfollowed each other on Instagram.
[0:41] Speaker 1: Or I'd say, actually, they haven't unfollowed each other. I
[0:44] Speaker 1: would say one of them blocked the other one, because
[0:48] Speaker 1: when I go down Rehe's profile all her posts which
[0:51] Speaker 1: still have Jeff in them, like she hasn't took them on.
[0:53] Speaker 1: They're still a lot, but he's no longer tagged in them.
[0:56] Speaker 1: And when someone blocks the other like it automatically untas
[1:00] Speaker 1: them in all of your existing content. So I would
[1:03] Speaker 1: say they haven't unfollowed. Someone's blocked someone, which drama, and
[1:07] Speaker 1: Jeff has also unpinned his posts which are at the
[1:10] Speaker 1: top of his profile, which were him and re and
[1:13] Speaker 1: you know, this is essentially they're not so sort of
[1:15] Speaker 1: millennial way of saying we're done, see you later, get
[1:19] Speaker 1: off my profile. And yesterday Daily Mel came out and
[1:22] Speaker 1: basically said, yeah, they have officially broken up and they've
[1:25] Speaker 1: been living apart for a couple of weeks. And that
[1:28] Speaker 1: then caused a bit more confusion, especially in my comments
[1:30] Speaker 1: on Facebook, because people were saying they saw a video
[1:33] Speaker 1: recently on maybe one of their stories saying that they're
[1:36] Speaker 1: still together, which I didn't see, so I don't know
[1:39] Speaker 1: how true that is. But there's still a lot of
[1:41] Speaker 1: confusion out there because Rie and Jeff still haven't like
[1:43] Speaker 1: directly come out and said anything. But what I can
[1:47] Speaker 1: tell you right now is and this is kind of
[1:49] Speaker 1: what I've been told firstly, over the last couple of weeks,
[1:53] Speaker 1: as everyone has kind of been wanting a definitive answering
[1:57] Speaker 1: commenting on everything like I.
[1:58] Speaker 2: Used to together, what's going on? Have you broken?
[2:00] Speaker 1: Like? Tell us, tell us, tell us. They haven't responded
[2:02] Speaker 1: because it hasn't really been a definitive answer, and you know,
[2:06] Speaker 1: often with breakups, when there's a bit of history and
[2:09] Speaker 1: you live together and your life are like intertwined in
[2:12] Speaker 1: many ways, it's rarely a wake up and one day
[2:15] Speaker 1: one of you just go, Okay, it's over for good,
[2:17] Speaker 1: get out the house. Well, unless something big and extreme
[2:20] Speaker 1: like cheating something happens or there's a big incident which
[2:23] Speaker 1: would lead to that imminent end. But I'm told that
[2:26] Speaker 1: it's just not the case here. And the general word
[2:29] Speaker 1: in the mass world about them is that kind of
[2:32] Speaker 1: gradually things just changed and like a distance set in
[2:37] Speaker 1: and they kind of grew apart, which you know happens.
[2:41] Speaker 1: And as they've been like trying to figure things out
[2:44] Speaker 1: and taking a bit of time apart while talking things
[2:46] Speaker 1: through and figuring out like what do we want to do,
[2:49] Speaker 1: this is kind of when everyone has noticed because of
[2:52] Speaker 1: the now lack of content of them together and just
[2:54] Speaker 1: been spamming them for answers, and you know, they've never
[2:57] Speaker 1: come out and said yes or no, because well, I'm
[3:01] Speaker 1: told that again, no real decision had been made, And
[3:05] Speaker 1: like that must be hard having that pressure of like
[3:07] Speaker 1: are you still together?
[3:07] Speaker 2: Have you broken up?
[3:08] Speaker 1: When you haven't even figured out yourself and It's funny
[3:12] Speaker 1: actually to think about, because when it comes to relationships
[3:14] Speaker 1: from reality shows like this that we have kind of
[3:17] Speaker 1: watched blossom and you know we have felt a part of,
[3:20] Speaker 1: and you know, we watch them be fast tracked in
[3:23] Speaker 1: front of our eyes as part of an experiment on
[3:25] Speaker 1: the Telly like.
[3:26] Speaker 2: People often then.
[3:27] Speaker 1: Expect those relationships to continue to be as black and
[3:31] Speaker 1: white as they continue on in the real world.
[3:33] Speaker 2: But that's not really how real life works.
[3:36] Speaker 1: Like Ree and Jet haven't continued doing the commitment ceremonies
[3:40] Speaker 1: with stay or leave on the sofa every Sunday where
[3:42] Speaker 1: they would have an answer in writing every week, which
[3:46] Speaker 1: I suppose is what a lot of people kind of
[3:49] Speaker 1: their mindset is. They still expect that of couples from
[3:52] Speaker 1: shows like this, but you know, real decisions are complex
[3:55] Speaker 1: and they're layered and they do take time like this one.
[3:58] Speaker 2: And even when I've asked.
[3:59] Speaker 1: People like who are in the know over the last
[4:01] Speaker 1: week or so, and by that I mean just people
[4:03] Speaker 1: who are from maths previously, I know Ree and Jeff
[4:06] Speaker 1: like they've just told me like, oh, I just give
[4:08] Speaker 1: them a bit of time.
[4:09] Speaker 2: No one quite knows anything.
[4:12] Speaker 1: But now it seems as of twenty four hours ago,
[4:14] Speaker 1: Rie and Jeff do know, and they've decided to split
[4:17] Speaker 1: for good. And now I suppose we were getting to
[4:19] Speaker 1: the well, why what happened? According to the Daily Mail yesterday,
[4:25] Speaker 1: this is all apparently, and remember that word apparently, because
[4:28] Speaker 1: as of right now, none of this is proven, but
[4:30] Speaker 1: they claim this is all because Jeff was putting less
[4:33] Speaker 1: and less effort in and had.
[4:35] Speaker 2: Stopped taking re on dates.
[4:37] Speaker 1: And that line from the US has now kind of
[4:41] Speaker 1: started this narrative, like in this story that re equals
[4:45] Speaker 1: the good one and Jeff equals the bad one. Because remember,
[4:48] Speaker 1: when it comes to reality TV, even what a year
[4:50] Speaker 1: two years off show, there's still this expectation that every
[4:55] Speaker 1: story must have that hero and a villain, which you know,
[4:59] Speaker 1: I get, and this is how the media works.
[5:01] Speaker 2: But I also feel it.
[5:03] Speaker 1: Is often unfair because now off the back of that story,
[5:06] Speaker 1: which you know that may be true, I don't know,
[5:09] Speaker 1: but the comments I'm now seeing people like, well, I
[5:11] Speaker 1: also hear Jeff did this or said this, or you know,
[5:14] Speaker 1: all these random claims which are just gossive and made
[5:17] Speaker 1: up things. But that is now essentially building on this narrative,
[5:21] Speaker 1: which is he equals the bad person here and again
[5:25] Speaker 1: this may be true, but it also may not be true.
[5:27] Speaker 1: And I personally think until like one of them and
[5:30] Speaker 1: both of them comes out and says something, let's not
[5:33] Speaker 1: get carried away, because ultimately in the maths world, and
[5:36] Speaker 1: I say this on my own experiences with them, these
[5:39] Speaker 1: are two of the nicer people we've ever had on
[5:42] Speaker 1: this show. And Daily Mail also said yesterday and please
[5:46] Speaker 1: listen to these words like exactly how they do it.
[5:49] Speaker 2: This is the exact quote.
[5:51] Speaker 1: It is also understood that Jeff is heading to the
[5:54] Speaker 1: UK solo for business. Now that exact quote there is
[5:57] Speaker 1: Jeff is heading to the un which to me sounds
[6:01] Speaker 1: like he's off on a business trip maybe for a
[6:03] Speaker 1: couple of weeks, a couple of months. But other websites
[6:06] Speaker 1: such as the Tab, which is like a gossip and
[6:09] Speaker 1: I think it's in the UK. I'm now reading from
[6:11] Speaker 1: them right now, and they've now said this about the split.
[6:14] Speaker 2: Jeff is now said to be.
[6:16] Speaker 1: Moving to the UK alone for work, and the Tab
[6:20] Speaker 1: then credits Daily Mail for that piece of info that
[6:22] Speaker 1: Jeff's moving to the other side of the world, despite
[6:25] Speaker 1: the fact Daily Mail never said that. They said he's
[6:28] Speaker 1: just heading to the UK, implying for what a trip,
[6:32] Speaker 1: not moving there forever, which are very different things. And
[6:36] Speaker 1: when I keep talking about the word narrative and narratives
[6:39] Speaker 1: in the media, this is what I mean. Like, you
[6:42] Speaker 1: see how easy it is for one thing to be
[6:44] Speaker 1: taken out of context and exaggerated and dramatized. And now
[6:48] Speaker 1: everyone's takeaway from any story they click or read is
[6:51] Speaker 1: Jeff no longer equaled the bad one, Jeff equaled the
[6:54] Speaker 1: horrible one, like how could he do this?
[6:55] Speaker 2: To read? How can he dumper or move to London?
[6:58] Speaker 1: Because that's the comments I'm now despite none of us
[7:01] Speaker 1: actually knowing, and neither of the people involved confirming god denying.
[7:06] Speaker 1: And you know, Jeff may actually be moving to the
[7:08] Speaker 1: UK forever and maybe that is the reason behind everything,
[7:11] Speaker 1: but again, right.
[7:13] Speaker 2: Now, no one knows.
[7:14] Speaker 1: And ultimately, until either of them do say something publicly,
[7:18] Speaker 1: I'm gonna stay sat here on this fence, impartial because
[7:23] Speaker 1: as I said, like these two to me, they've always
[7:25] Speaker 1: been the most unproblematic couples. So yeah, until one of
[7:28] Speaker 1: them comes out and says otherwise, I'm gonna hold off
[7:31] Speaker 1: the side taking and the shit talking and remain on
[7:34] Speaker 1: this fence and I urge you to sit on it
[7:36] Speaker 1: with me, which is quite boring and not because we
[7:38] Speaker 1: all want the drama.
[7:39] Speaker 2: But yeah, I don't know.
[7:40] Speaker 1: I just feel a bit icky like fueling this narrative
[7:44] Speaker 1: more myself on this platform when I literally have no idea,
[7:49] Speaker 1: say yeah,
