After Filip's YouTube channel has become a talking point across Australia, he's finally addressed the backlash with a brief public statement and new video discussing "triggering" people and... this isn't good. He had one chance to try and sway things and he's done the opposite. PS: Apologies for my voice! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello and welcome back to the Masked Funny Podcast and
[0:02] Speaker 1: we have some big news today.
[0:04] Speaker 2: We've got two pieces of news actually.
[0:06] Speaker 1: The first one is I'm a little sick, which if
[0:08] Speaker 1: you're thinking my voice sounds a bit nasally, that's why.
[0:12] Speaker 1: And then secondly, Philip from this year's season has responded
[0:16] Speaker 1: to the backlashes Manosphere adjacent anti-woman YouTube videos have received
[0:22] Speaker 1: over the last week or so. And do we now
[0:25] Speaker 1: have a man with his tail between his legs?
[0:29] Speaker 2: Kind of.
[0:30] Speaker 1: And do we also have a man still standing strong
[0:32] Speaker 1: and not backing down, thinking he's said nothing wrong?
[0:36] Speaker 2: Also kind of.
[0:37] Speaker 1: I wasn't going to record this week because I am
[0:39] Speaker 1: slightly sick, but this was just too good, not good,
[0:43] Speaker 1: too dumb to ignore. So here we are. Now, if
[0:50] Speaker 1: you're behind, please just listen to the previous episode of
[0:52] Speaker 1: this podcast and come back here because I CBA explaining everything.
[0:56] Speaker 1: And since everything blew up in Philip's face and he
[0:59] Speaker 1: realized that YouTube wasn't the safe space for him to
[1:02] Speaker 1: promote and profit from this apparent new personalist, I cannot
[1:08] Speaker 1: speak today. I'm so sick. Okay, since everything blew up
[1:14] Speaker 1: in his face and Philip realized that YouTube wasn't necessarily
[1:19] Speaker 1: the safe space for him to promote and profit from
[1:23] Speaker 1: this apparent new personality of his hating on women, he's
[1:28] Speaker 1: since quietly deleted one of his more extreme videos. And
[1:32] Speaker 1: that was the one where he declared there is a.
[1:35] Speaker 2: War on men.
[1:36] Speaker 3: There is a war on men.
[1:39] Speaker 1: So yes, as that was blowing up and people were
[1:41] Speaker 1: calling him out, what did big brave Philip do?
[1:44] Speaker 2: He looked into YouTube and he went, he went, yeah,
[1:48] Speaker 2: delete that one. Delete. Let's hope no one notices that.
[1:50] Speaker 2: But Philip, mate, we noticed.
[1:53] Speaker 1: After quietly deleting one of his videos, the rest did
[1:56] Speaker 1: remain up. And I know that Philip declined a fair
[1:59] Speaker 1: amount of like radio interviews from the usual shows that
[2:01] Speaker 1: all reached out wanting to ask like, yo, what are
[2:04] Speaker 1: you doing, mate?
[2:06] Speaker 4: But.
[2:07] Speaker 2: He did give.
[2:08] Speaker 1: One public statement and this was to Pedestrian and they
[2:11] Speaker 1: did an article kind of with Abbey Chatfield and Sam
[2:14] Speaker 1: calling him out and then, sorry, I'm laughing but coming.
[2:21] Speaker 1: And then this is what Pedestrian got a bit sassy for.
[2:23] Speaker 1: They put, in response to the recent commentary surrounding his
[2:27] Speaker 1: online content, Philip simply told Pedestrian.tv that he's moved on
[2:32] Speaker 1: with his life. And they then quote Philip as going,
[2:34] Speaker 1: I wish people all the best and encourage them to
[2:36] Speaker 1: go live their lives. Now, Philip, if you're listening, mate, actually, no,
[2:43] Speaker 1: I'm not going to say mate. I don't want you
[2:44] Speaker 1: as a mate.
[2:46] Speaker 2: This is not how the world works.
[2:48] Speaker 1: You don't get to do or say something that you
[2:50] Speaker 1: know is going to steer you a lot of people
[2:53] Speaker 1: up and upset people and cause a huge debate and
[2:57] Speaker 1: all this tension. Again, may I remind everyone for your
[3:00] Speaker 1: own financial gain. And then when the expected backlash arrives
[3:04] Speaker 1: and it does blow up, you can't then just go, oh,
[3:07] Speaker 1: can everyone just move on?
[3:08] Speaker 2: I've moved on. Like that's just not how the world works.
[3:12] Speaker 1: Anyway, won't get too caught up on that statement because
[3:14] Speaker 1: it is quite redundant because it doesn't appear that Philip
[3:17] Speaker 1: has actually moved on in the slightest because then yesterday
[3:20] Speaker 1: he popped back in his little YouTube channel and he's
[3:23] Speaker 1: since done another video. And to be fair, this one
[3:26] Speaker 1: overall is a little bit more in line with his
[3:29] Speaker 1: previous style of genuine self-help, self-appointed YouTube guru type of
[3:37] Speaker 1: content that he did prior to maths. And this video
[3:40] Speaker 1: was titled How... to protect your energy. And when I
[3:44] Speaker 1: saw that, I thought.
[3:45] Speaker 2: Oh, there we go. Click.
[3:47] Speaker 4: So this video is going to be a little bit different.
[3:50] Speaker 1: That's what I want in life. I want to know
[3:52] Speaker 1: how to protect my energy. And I specifically want Philip
[3:55] Speaker 1: to tell me.
[3:56] Speaker 4: It is absolutely pissing down. I've just got to the gym.
[4:01] Speaker 4: I'm going to make sure that I go and get better.
[4:04] Speaker 4: when everything in the universe is pointing to me to
[4:07] Speaker 4: stay home.
[4:08] Speaker 1: And then, yeah, before he got to talking about my energy,
[4:12] Speaker 1: he started the video by referencing the recent drama and
[4:15] Speaker 1: basically saying how he doesn't need the feedback of others,
[4:19] Speaker 1: aka the backlash from everyone, to make him feel validated
[4:22] Speaker 1: in life.
[4:24] Speaker 4: In times of when you've actually had a bit of
[4:26] Speaker 4: an interesting week, and it has been very, very interesting,
[4:29] Speaker 4: I realized how strong I am through.
[4:34] Speaker 4: The actions and the validation that I give to myself.
[4:37] Speaker 4: I don't have to validate myself to anyone else because
[4:41] Speaker 4: it's through things like this and rocking up and turning
[4:45] Speaker 4: up for myself That is where internal confidence is bred.
[4:49] Speaker 4: That is where it is made, fortified. So whenever you
[4:53] Speaker 4: leave the house, you leave the house with the chin
[4:56] Speaker 4: up and you know exactly who you are because you
[4:58] Speaker 4: do the work to yourself. You validate yourself to yourself
[5:02] Speaker 4: and that is all that matters.
[5:04] Speaker 1: As I continued sitting there watching, waiting to learn how
[5:08] Speaker 1: to protect my energy, Philip then went into a weird
[5:11] Speaker 1: little rant about how triggered everyone has been by his content, which.
[5:16] Speaker 1: You know, was content that he purposely made in my
[5:19] Speaker 1: opinion and all of our opinions.
[5:21] Speaker 2: To trigger people. I love it. You can't make this
[5:26] Speaker 2: shit up.
[5:27] Speaker 4: I think that the elephant in the room here is
[5:29] Speaker 4: that social media affects exactly how we think, how we
[5:33] Speaker 4: see the world and how we view people. Having an
[5:35] Speaker 4: audience as well, like reflecting on this, having an audience
[5:38] Speaker 4: as well, it's very important on how you communicate to them.
[5:42] Speaker 4: And it's not what you say, it's how you say it.
[5:44] Speaker 4: And that's something that I'll take on board, you know,
[5:47] Speaker 4: moving forward. But for the most part, it's just crazy
[5:51] Speaker 4: how triggered people get. They use you as a trigger.
[5:56] Speaker 4: People trigger themselves and then they trigger themselves. And yeah,
[6:02] Speaker 4: they just focus on things that aren't important when I'm
[6:05] Speaker 4: literally going out here and getting better.
[6:08] Speaker 2: So yeah, there's my voice gone. So yeah, there's the
[6:12] Speaker 2: update from Philip.
[6:14] Speaker 1: To me, I feel like he maybe didn't realize how
[6:19] Speaker 1: far he was going with the shit he was saying.
[6:21] Speaker 1: Like he maybe just got caught up in a little
[6:22] Speaker 1: bubble because it was getting a little response on his
[6:26] Speaker 1: YouTube and maybe people were booking those one-on-one consultations, which
[6:29] Speaker 1: are still available for $ 170 an hour for anyone out
[6:33] Speaker 1: there wanting to know how to hate women or protect
[6:36] Speaker 1: your energy. And yeah, I think as it blew up,
[6:39] Speaker 1: he was a bit like, oh fuck, what have I
[6:42] Speaker 1: done here?
[6:43] Speaker 2: Not excusing him in the slightest.
[6:44] Speaker 1: I think it's all just absolutely stupid, dangerous, ridiculous. But
[6:49] Speaker 1: then I think he's just not realized how to come
[6:53] Speaker 1: back from that and step back and then navigate it.
[6:56] Speaker 2: And then what he's done here isn't the best. People
[7:02] Speaker 2: are so dumb.
[7:03] Speaker 1: Like I don't wish to be rude, but You know,
[7:06] Speaker 1: you put that shit out there, mate. What do you expect?
[7:08] Speaker 1: You can't just go, oh, get over it and then
[7:10] Speaker 1: say people are triggered. Yes, you purposely and intentionally triggered them.
[7:16] Speaker 1: So they are triggered because what you're saying is dangerous.
[7:19] Speaker 1: It will have real life ramifications on women, not just Australia,
[7:23] Speaker 1: in the world. Anyway, I want to end this now
[7:25] Speaker 1: by saying one thing. I, over the last few months,
[7:28] Speaker 1: was maybe a little... critical of that bloke on next
[7:33] Speaker 1: year's season of maths which has just finished filming and
[7:35] Speaker 1: he's the one who's got the audience on tiktok and
[7:37] Speaker 1: he's the one who goes hey.
[7:39] Speaker 2: Honey hey honey hey honey hey honey hey honey.
[7:42] Speaker 1: And he starts every video going hey honey then he
[7:44] Speaker 1: says something like inspirational for women.
[7:46] Speaker 4: You'll never be too much for someone who can't get enough.
[7:50] Speaker 2: Of you.
[7:53] Speaker 1: Yep and to me like you know that's easy to
[7:56] Speaker 1: joke about because it it's a bit cringy but like
[7:59] Speaker 1: most things people do on the internet is cringy. And
[8:02] Speaker 1: then the point I want to say here is, yes,
[8:05] Speaker 1: with that guy, it was easy for me to, you know,
[8:07] Speaker 1: make a laugh because that content is not something that's
[8:10] Speaker 1: going to resonate with me when he's making video for women,
[8:14] Speaker 1: speaking about things women.
[8:16] Speaker 2: Relate, like I'm not a woman, you know what I mean?
[8:18] Speaker 1: But then I was watching some of his stuff again
[8:21] Speaker 1: last night and then I was comparing what he's putting
[8:24] Speaker 1: out there into the world, like I think daily, Versus
[8:28] Speaker 1: the shit Phillip's doing.
[8:29] Speaker 2: Why aren't guys looking at me?
[8:30] Speaker 4: I'm like, well, you're kind of showing a bit too
[8:33] Speaker 4: much body over here. You got too many, following too
[8:35] Speaker 4: many guys. You have very suggestive photos. You're traveling all
[8:40] Speaker 4: the time, whatever. These are all things that guys will
[8:43] Speaker 4: not tell you, but they don't like.
[8:44] Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm saying?
[8:46] Speaker 4: You got too much on.
[8:47] Speaker 1: And then, like, you go, well, what's the greater good here?
[8:52] Speaker 1: And it's this guy, the Hey Honey dude.
[8:54] Speaker 3: Hey Honey.
[8:54] Speaker 1: So then, I suppose this is a public apology because
[8:57] Speaker 1: if I had to choose between your content and my
[8:59] Speaker 1: newsfeed or Phillips, your intention behind what you're doing is
[9:06] Speaker 1: kind of like empowering women and inspiring them. And yeah,
[9:10] Speaker 1: it's easy to make jokes.
[9:11] Speaker 2: And like a lot of women.
[9:14] Speaker 1: Fucking this cold have replied to my pods being like, oh,
[9:18] Speaker 1: they find it a bit icky sometimes.
[9:20] Speaker 2: But overall, like the intention there is wholesome.
[9:23] Speaker 1: The guy seems to have good morals and a good
[9:27] Speaker 1: outlook on the world and seem to actually care then
[9:29] Speaker 1: we verse then we compare that to philip and his
[9:32] Speaker 1: youtube channel and that's just like intentional rage bait to
[9:36] Speaker 1: piss people off and create this divide between men and
[9:38] Speaker 1: women that ultimately is not good for anybody.
[9:42] Speaker 3: See this is where the delusion runs wild with women
[9:45] Speaker 3: as well you know i can do it at 40
[9:47] Speaker 3: i can do it at 45 it's like no you
[9:49] Speaker 3: can't you definitely can't you freeze your eggs whatever like.
[9:54] Speaker 1: No So yeah, here's hoping next season of maths, we're
[9:57] Speaker 1: going to have more Hay Honey style blokes and less
[10:02] Speaker 1: or Phillips and Tysons and Dannys.
[10:07] Speaker 2: And fuck, I don't remember any of them. Oh, my God.
[10:11] Speaker 2: Today's October 29th.
[10:13] Speaker 1: I have officially forgot half of this year's cast names.
[10:18] Speaker 2: Going to write that one down. I think that's a
[10:22] Speaker 2: new record for me. Anyway, see ya.
[10:26] Speaker 1: Oh, if anyone knows how to get rid of this cold,
[10:28] Speaker 1: like give me some tips, please, because I'm doing like
[10:30] Speaker 1: the limp sips and the hot honey shit.
[10:32] Speaker 2: And honestly, nothing's working.
