[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello and welcome back to the Maths Funny Podcast and
[0:02] Speaker 1: welcome to another update on the shit show that in
[0:05] Speaker 1: a few months you will know as Married at First
[0:08] Speaker 1: Sight 2027 or if we're being a little bit more
[0:12] Speaker 1: specific Married at First Sight Australia's upcoming 14th season and
[0:18] Speaker 1: there's now just a couple of weeks left of production
[0:21] Speaker 1: and filming here in Sydney and there's now just a
[0:24] Speaker 1: handful of couples left in the experiment. And I'm going
[0:27] Speaker 1: to be honest with you. I lost interest fairly quickly
[0:31] Speaker 1: this time around. And like, instead of crashing shoots constantly,
[0:35] Speaker 1: like I have done in previous years, I just haven't bothered.
[0:39] Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. I've still been out there a
[0:42] Speaker 1: few times and I'm very much across everything that's going on,
[0:45] Speaker 1: the who's who and the what's what. So this podcast
[0:47] Speaker 1: will still deliver you everything you expect from it. But Yeah,
[0:53] Speaker 1: I've mostly just been taking a step back and observing
[0:56] Speaker 1: from afar whilst keeping an eye on my inbox, which
[1:02] Speaker 1: like every year has been full of tips and spoilers
[1:06] Speaker 1: and scandals from people on the inside or people who
[1:09] Speaker 1: have previously dated a participant or know them personally. And
[1:15] Speaker 1: there's one word that keeps coming up in like all
[1:17] Speaker 1: of the tips and messages I'm getting and it's the
[1:20] Speaker 1: word fake. Now before I jump into this like we
[1:25] Speaker 1: all know that half the cast every year if not
[1:27] Speaker 1: more than half the cast see this show as like
[1:30] Speaker 1: a launch pad for some brief fame and social media
[1:34] Speaker 1: careers which you know what fair enough you do you
[1:37] Speaker 1: guys and I also know having worked in the media
[1:40] Speaker 1: for a long time now that behind every famous person
[1:44] Speaker 1: or every local reality television star there's always at least
[1:49] Speaker 1: one disgruntled ex or former friend or just someone who
[1:54] Speaker 1: wants to bring them down or maybe is jealous they're
[1:58] Speaker 1: now getting attention or resents it or whatever so often
[2:01] Speaker 1: and especially like at this point in time the start
[2:04] Speaker 1: of a season where the season's not even finished like
[2:06] Speaker 1: I always take the things I'm told with a grain
[2:09] Speaker 1: of salt unless there's like undeniable proof and I try
[2:14] Speaker 1: to wait until I've met everybody personally to make up
[2:19] Speaker 1: my own opinions. But yeah, as I said, the one
[2:22] Speaker 1: recurring word that just keeps coming up from everybody is fake.
[2:27] Speaker 1: And often when we use the word fake in relation
[2:29] Speaker 1: to people who are married at first sight, it's mostly
[2:31] Speaker 1: meant that their sole intentions for being on the show
[2:35] Speaker 1: are for what they can gain from it. Therefore, them pretending,
[2:38] Speaker 1: you know, from episode one in the backstory that they're
[2:41] Speaker 1: just there for love essentially then makes them fake because
[2:45] Speaker 1: they're not. But this year as much as is that
[2:50] Speaker 1: again i'm told it's just so so so much more
[2:57] Speaker 1: than that and worse than that like worse than we've
[3:00] Speaker 1: had previously to the point that the producers and those
[3:03] Speaker 1: who like you know choose the cast members because that's
[3:05] Speaker 1: not the experts like they're actually leaning into the fakeness
[3:11] Speaker 1: of these people now and like they're no longer even
[3:14] Speaker 1: caring to pretend like they previously would that the show
[3:18] Speaker 1: is solely about finding love and that's because and spoiler
[3:24] Speaker 1: alert now I'm gonna try not name people directly again
[3:27] Speaker 1: because I want to wait and make my own minds
[3:31] Speaker 1: up and people are wait till there's more proof on
[3:32] Speaker 1: things but like when I keep saying this word fake
[3:35] Speaker 1: and the producers being aware of that and like actively
[3:39] Speaker 1: choosing people where there's ulterior motives or storylines I'm told
[3:44] Speaker 1: that there's four people on this upcoming season who have
[3:48] Speaker 1: previously dated or hooked up with another cast member on
[3:52] Speaker 1: the season who isn't their match on the show like
[3:56] Speaker 1: you know in previous years we've had what are the
[3:58] Speaker 1: chances two people are like oh shit we we hooked
[4:00] Speaker 1: up 10 years ago or you know there may be
[4:02] Speaker 1: a bit of history but this year it's like they've
[4:04] Speaker 1: taken that and actively tried to find people with connections
[4:11] Speaker 1: And you know how I've been so hopeful in previous
[4:13] Speaker 1: episodes and hear about the same-sex female couple and just
[4:17] Speaker 1: excited by the idea that this show has finally produced
[4:20] Speaker 1: a successful queer match. Well, I've since been told that
[4:25] Speaker 1: one of the women who is bisexual and not lesbian
[4:29] Speaker 1: was previously with one of the grooms who's also on
[4:33] Speaker 1: this season, which to me... feels like almost like the
[4:38] Speaker 1: storyline the show wanted last season if you remember when
[4:42] Speaker 1: they kept hyping up Julia being bisexual and they were
[4:45] Speaker 1: teasing in adverts will she be matched with a man
[4:48] Speaker 1: or a woman and then I suppose they were hoping
[4:50] Speaker 1: for people to be like well she might have eyes
[4:53] Speaker 1: for another groom or bride you know really playing into
[4:55] Speaker 1: the fact that Julia is attracted to men and women
[4:59] Speaker 1: well yeah yeah like from what I'm told producers have
[5:03] Speaker 1: essentially like taken that soft launch of a storyline that
[5:07] Speaker 1: didn't happen and now just made it happen by actively
[5:10] Speaker 1: bringing in a bisexual bride, matching her with a woman,
[5:14] Speaker 1: whilst then intentionally casting a man she's previously like dated
[5:19] Speaker 1: or hooked up with or been with or just has
[5:21] Speaker 1: like a messy history with. And like, as I found
[5:26] Speaker 1: that out, it was like, oh, just like that. My
[5:29] Speaker 1: hope for the happy queer love story Australia desperately needs
[5:34] Speaker 1: was gone. And instead it now feels that their sexuality
[5:39] Speaker 1: will once again, just be used for clickbait and drama
[5:42] Speaker 1: and stereotypes, which is fantastic. And a few episodes back,
[5:47] Speaker 1: you may remember, I also said how I'd been told
[5:50] Speaker 1: that the same sex couple were one of the strongest
[5:53] Speaker 1: this season. And like, I'd seen them at the last
[5:55] Speaker 1: dinner party I was at, which was maybe five weeks ago,
[5:59] Speaker 1: like arriving, they were the only ones like really kissing
[6:02] Speaker 1: as they got out the car in front of the cameras.
[6:04] Speaker 1: And the paparazzi, which may be telling in itself, because
[6:08] Speaker 1: I've since been told that no, they are, as well
[6:11] Speaker 1: as many other couples, just dragging it out to stay
[6:15] Speaker 1: on the show for airtime and there's nothing between them.
[6:18] Speaker 1: And like, again, I've no proof of this, but the
[6:22] Speaker 1: people telling me these things have nothing to like gain
[6:26] Speaker 1: or lose by making it up. And the level of
[6:30] Speaker 1: messages I'm getting saying, the same thing about so many
[6:34] Speaker 1: different cast members is why I'm now, I suppose, sat
[6:39] Speaker 1: here talking and questioning, is this the fakest cast ever?
[6:42] Speaker 1: And has the show now reached the point where it
[6:46] Speaker 1: is just about manufacturing drama and moments and chaos, which,
[6:52] Speaker 1: you know, it does every year, but there was always
[6:54] Speaker 1: still that little bit of integrity is that the word
[6:58] Speaker 1: i'm looking for that that's still like attachment to the
[7:01] Speaker 1: original concept but now it feels like producers can nah
[7:06] Speaker 1: let's just fucking cause chaos and i'm also told that
[7:13] Speaker 1: spoiler alert again and i think this was in some
[7:15] Speaker 1: articles already at some point but there's another couple who
[7:19] Speaker 1: it apparently becomes so bad between like to the point
[7:23] Speaker 1: it's clear they just hate each other I'm told but
[7:26] Speaker 1: they keep writing stay for the sake of staying on
[7:29] Speaker 1: the show another week that yeah it gets to the
[7:31] Speaker 1: point that John Aiken at one commitment ceremony like the
[7:35] Speaker 1: final one with them just stands up and goes I
[7:37] Speaker 1: don't care that you both wrote stay again we don't
[7:41] Speaker 1: want you here you're a shit couple See you later
[7:44] Speaker 1: and get off the show. And please don't confuse what
[7:47] Speaker 1: will be John's big stand of the season, which I
[7:50] Speaker 1: guarantee they're going to put in all the adverts pre-season
[7:53] Speaker 1: where it's be like, this has never happened before. And
[7:56] Speaker 1: it will tease John saying something, but they won't show
[7:59] Speaker 1: us what he means. But you now know, because I've
[8:02] Speaker 1: just told you, like, don't confuse his big stand for him,
[8:06] Speaker 1: like going out of his way to reclaim the integrity
[8:09] Speaker 1: of the show and finding some professional morality because, You
[8:13] Speaker 1: also have to remember they allowed that couple to remain
[8:16] Speaker 1: on there as long as they did. And when you
[8:18] Speaker 1: watch it, I'm told you'll also be questioning why the
[8:20] Speaker 1: hell is this couple still on the show to the
[8:23] Speaker 1: point they were apparently disrupting the entire experiment, both on
[8:27] Speaker 1: and off camera. And they needed like extra chaperones or
[8:31] Speaker 1: minders or something to like watch them when the cameras
[8:34] Speaker 1: weren't rolling. So they didn't just ruin everything. everything and
[8:37] Speaker 1: yeah like as I said you're gonna see John have
[8:39] Speaker 1: his big moment but remember no that's not a big
[8:42] Speaker 1: moment he's been scripted that line and producers still purposely
[8:46] Speaker 1: kept that couple on for as long as they could
[8:48] Speaker 1: so they could squeeze as much drama as they could
[8:52] Speaker 1: from them before entirely orchestrating John's big moment again you
[8:59] Speaker 1: see what I mean when I keep saying this word
[9:01] Speaker 1: is this the fakest cast ever and maybe I should
[9:04] Speaker 1: rename this episode to is this the fakest season ever.
[9:07] Speaker 1: And there's also this guy called Winter, um, spell it W-I-N-T-A-H.
[9:14] Speaker 1: I've never heard that name before, but I actually kind
[9:16] Speaker 1: of obsessed. And I've had a few people who have
[9:19] Speaker 1: like known him throughout his life, like sliding in my messages,
[9:23] Speaker 1: like this guy's legit, he's real, he's wholesome. But then
[9:27] Speaker 1: you click on Daily Mail and like a month ago,
[9:29] Speaker 1: they were saying he's soon to be the most hated
[9:31] Speaker 1: man in Australia because of his strong religious beliefs and
[9:35] Speaker 1: apparent unwillingness to compromise and Daily Mail have also claimed
[9:40] Speaker 1: once he found out after filming his wedding that the
[9:43] Speaker 1: wedding wasn't legally binding he apparently then wanted out and
[9:47] Speaker 1: wanted to quit the show which like you know back
[9:51] Speaker 1: to that word fight come on mate are you stupid
[9:54] Speaker 1: like is there a single person out there who thinks
[9:56] Speaker 1: these marriages are legally binding, let alone someone on the
[10:01] Speaker 1: show going through the process? At what point did he question, wait,
[10:04] Speaker 1: is this legal? Like, do you know what I mean
[10:06] Speaker 1: when I keep saying the word fake? And then also
[10:09] Speaker 1: in that same story of Daily Mail saying that, they
[10:12] Speaker 1: claim Winter, who Mr. Religious, like who I'm told is
[10:17] Speaker 1: really nice, but then he's also apparently really, about to
[10:20] Speaker 1: be hated um they also claim he's been messaging other
[10:24] Speaker 1: brides on the show whilst filming behind his bride's back
[10:27] Speaker 1: so then it's like well is he super religious and
[10:30] Speaker 1: this nice guy or is he just a fuck boy
[10:32] Speaker 1: and where's the celibate thing come from and yeah what
[10:38] Speaker 1: a mess what an absolute mess so yeah that's the
[10:42] Speaker 1: upcoming 2027 season um and i would love to be
[10:46] Speaker 1: proven wrong about everything I've said in this, I would
[10:49] Speaker 1: love for all the things I've been told, my assumptions,
[10:52] Speaker 1: my judgments, my predictions to be proven wrong. And like,
[10:56] Speaker 1: I look forward to getting to chat to some of
[10:58] Speaker 1: the cast personally and making up my own opinions, especially
[11:02] Speaker 1: the same sex couple, because I so desperately want to
[11:05] Speaker 1: back them. And I want them to be genuine for
[11:09] Speaker 1: the sake of the queer community. And if any of
[11:12] Speaker 1: the new cast you're listening, like it's, in January February
[11:16] Speaker 1: guarantee you're going to be reaching out to me on
[11:18] Speaker 1: your burner Instagrams like you always do but do it
[11:20] Speaker 1: now I'm there prove me wrong if you know any
[11:24] Speaker 1: of the cast please someone prove me wrong but yeah
[11:28] Speaker 1: as of right now this is what I'm told this
[11:31] Speaker 1: is where things are and that's kind of why I'm
[11:35] Speaker 1: not looking forward to next season as much as I
[11:38] Speaker 1: previously am like don't get me wrong I'm hyped for
[11:41] Speaker 1: it I'm gonna enjoy it when it's on but like
[11:43] Speaker 1: it's October right now and At the minute, I'm a
[11:46] Speaker 1: bit like, ugh, can I be bothered? And I will
[11:49] Speaker 1: be bothered because I'm bothered every year and I do
[11:51] Speaker 1: get full into it just like you guys are probably like, oh,
[11:53] Speaker 1: I'll never watch another season again. But there you are,
[11:56] Speaker 1: come start of February. I don't really have an end
[11:58] Speaker 1: for this podcast. I guess I'll just end it by going,
[12:03] Speaker 1: all right, that's the end. See ya.
