As the public response to Danny has dramatically changed over the last week or so, here's how his friends are trying to take Bec down to build him up again. Sadly for Danny though, it may be a lost cause if the final episode of After The Dinner Party is as bad as I'm told... See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to the Mass Why podcast, and
[0:02] Speaker 1: Happy Reunion Day to those of you who celebrate, which
[0:06] Speaker 1: I'm guessing is all of you since you're listening to
[0:09] Speaker 1: our podcast Unmarried at First Sight. In this episode, I'm
[0:13] Speaker 1: going to be documenting the current downfall of Danny and
[0:18] Speaker 1: how his master plan has now backfired and blew up
[0:22] Speaker 1: in his face and the viewers of this show, especially
[0:26] Speaker 1: the women they've turned.
[0:29] Speaker 2: I think Danny is the real villain all along, and.
[0:33] Speaker 3: The biggest villain on mass was Danny. Okay, someone's got
[0:36] Speaker 3: to say it.
[0:36] Speaker 4: Very early on I saw through his shit. I saw
[0:39] Speaker 4: that he was guest lighting Beck.
[0:41] Speaker 2: I said this in my recaps.
[0:42] Speaker 1: And any viewers still on the fence about Danny, they
[0:45] Speaker 1: may see things a little differently once I read some
[0:49] Speaker 1: messages that his friend has been sending me recently. And
[0:52] Speaker 1: I also let you know what unseen moments are coming
[0:55] Speaker 1: up on the final episode of After the Dinner Party.
[1:01] Speaker 1: Now for full transparency here, I've said all season that
[1:04] Speaker 1: I am not a fan of Danny, and I usually
[1:07] Speaker 1: make my judgment of a cast member based off both
[1:09] Speaker 1: my personal experiences with them if I have some, and
[1:12] Speaker 1: how I personally interpret their behavior on the show, and
[1:16] Speaker 1: as I've already said in this podcast, Danny was rude
[1:19] Speaker 1: and arrogant the one time we probably spoke, which was
[1:21] Speaker 1: about two and a half weeks since the filming last year,
[1:24] Speaker 1: and during that conversation in the Bondai Icebergs night, he
[1:28] Speaker 1: was just so focused on telling me how much money
[1:31] Speaker 1: he makes, how much money he sends to his family,
[1:33] Speaker 1: how many followers his friends have, how many followers I have,
[1:36] Speaker 1: And I just instantly came to the conclusion that this
[1:39] Speaker 1: guy is only here for fame and attention. And then
[1:43] Speaker 1: watching him on the show over the last two and
[1:45] Speaker 1: a half months, seeing how he strung Beck along, who
[1:48] Speaker 1: he never had any interest in, let's be honest, just
[1:51] Speaker 1: to break a heart at the end so he could
[1:53] Speaker 1: have his big moment, has also told me he again
[1:57] Speaker 1: was just more interested in airtime and recognition than anything else.
[2:02] Speaker 1: And for most of the season his plan to end
[2:04] Speaker 1: as a hero and loved by all was working. Because
[2:08] Speaker 1: the worst at Beck's behavior was as part of the
[2:10] Speaker 1: mean Girls, the more viewers just felt sorry for Danny
[2:14] Speaker 1: and called themselves a fan of him, And again, the
[2:17] Speaker 1: more outrageous Beck was, and then the more calm Danny
[2:20] Speaker 1: was that you couldn't help but go oh he's a
[2:23] Speaker 1: nice guy, and like he loved that that was happening,
[2:27] Speaker 1: and he has been taking advantage of that, Like he's
[2:30] Speaker 1: had an entire social media strategy with his best friend
[2:33] Speaker 1: Will that Channing titum stripper guy look like whatever he does,
[2:38] Speaker 1: and they've been pumping out content together pretty much daily
[2:41] Speaker 1: across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok to just like capitalize off this
[2:47] Speaker 1: current popularity while it's there and get as many followers as.
[2:51] Speaker 4: He can now while the show's airing.
[2:53] Speaker 1: And Danny has also been loving the fact that he's
[2:56] Speaker 1: got so many female viewers sliding into his DM saying
[3:00] Speaker 1: you're such a great guy, you deserve better than Beck,
[3:02] Speaker 1: and like he's been hooking up with some of them,
[3:04] Speaker 1: as I discussed in an early episode of this podcast.
[3:07] Speaker 1: Again nothing wrong with that, like your single go have fun.
[3:11] Speaker 1: But to me, it's very telling of all these reasons
[3:15] Speaker 1: I believe he was on the show. But now here's
[3:18] Speaker 1: the problem for Danny. As this season has dragged on
[3:22] Speaker 1: and on over the last two and a half months,
[3:24] Speaker 1: and we saw Beck Q yes has been unhinged and
[3:28] Speaker 1: her behavior has been pretty bad to say the least
[3:32] Speaker 1: with other people. As we watched her actually fall in
[3:35] Speaker 1: love and develop serious feelings for Danny, and we watched
[3:38] Speaker 1: Danny in response just continue to string her along and
[3:42] Speaker 1: have no feelings for her. That sympathy for a lot
[3:46] Speaker 1: of people, which they initially had just became like confusion,
[3:50] Speaker 1: as viewers started to ask themselves like why is this
[3:53] Speaker 1: guy even still here? Like why hasn't he written leave?
[3:57] Speaker 1: What's he doing? He clearly does not like this.
[3:59] Speaker 4: Woman who is falling in love with him.
[4:02] Speaker 1: Then as we finally got to the final vows last week,
[4:05] Speaker 1: it obviously all became clear and.
[4:07] Speaker 4: Too honestly thinking was so made as a friend. I
[4:11] Speaker 4: don't think you're going to think more to Shay Okay,
[4:17] Speaker 4: so sorry, no, Daniel.
[4:18] Speaker 1: He stayed for the screen time and to have that
[4:21] Speaker 1: big moment at the end that he thought would have
[4:23] Speaker 1: viewers like what clapping at home going yeah, go on mate,
[4:26] Speaker 1: yeah you leave her? You deserve better. And that's what
[4:29] Speaker 1: has happened this week. You know when David dumped Alyssa.
[4:32] Speaker 4: You're not gonna listen to my vows? That's a name.
[4:40] Speaker 1: And Scott dump gear. Viewers have applauded those moments. But
[4:44] Speaker 1: the difference between those two and Danny is that watching
[4:48] Speaker 1: him do that to Beck felt cruel and calculated. And
[5:03] Speaker 1: then you have to remember as well, Beck has been
[5:05] Speaker 1: saying constantly how in the days and weeks leading up
[5:09] Speaker 1: to those final vours, how Danny had apparently been telling her, Hey,
[5:14] Speaker 1: I think I'm falling in love with you. Hey, wait
[5:16] Speaker 1: till the end, I'm going to say those free words.
[5:18] Speaker 1: So when we saw her extreme reaction, which was just
[5:21] Speaker 1: sad to watch, regardless of what you think of her
[5:23] Speaker 1: behavior throughout the season, it is clear there was more
[5:28] Speaker 1: to it and how she did genuinely believe And yeah,
[5:32] Speaker 1: if you jump on social media the past week after
[5:35] Speaker 1: we watched him dump back, everyone is pretty much saying
[5:39] Speaker 1: the same thing.
[5:40] Speaker 3: And the biggest villain on mass was Danny. Okay, someone's
[5:42] Speaker 3: got to say it.
[5:43] Speaker 4: At least with your and Becky knew how they felt.
[5:45] Speaker 4: At least you knew where they stood.
[5:46] Speaker 3: To lie to someone's face for months, to sleep with
[5:50] Speaker 3: someone four times right before you're planning on breaking up
[5:55] Speaker 3: with them and saying that you're not feeling it, and
[5:56] Speaker 3: then to top it off by saying that they're your
[5:58] Speaker 3: song mate, as your best friend, jiz me, that's.
[6:02] Speaker 1: Not a thing.
[6:03] Speaker 4: Exceptionally cruel and Abby.
[6:05] Speaker 1: Chatfield has been quite vocal with her take on everything.
[6:09] Speaker 2: A lot of you are saying that you feel bad
[6:10] Speaker 2: for Beck this morning. Right, you're saying, oh my god,
[6:12] Speaker 2: I feel so bad, I feel so bad. Why the
[6:16] Speaker 2: fuck do you feel bad? It would be a punishment
[6:21] Speaker 2: to be with Danny. It would be a punishment. Why
[6:23] Speaker 2: would we want somebody to be with Danny? Like, I'm
[6:28] Speaker 2: not saying he's some evil, evil, awful guy who knows right,
[6:32] Speaker 2: I don't know the bloke, but looking at the lack
[6:35] Speaker 2: of emotional depth alone, looking at the way that he
[6:39] Speaker 2: makes I would say mean jokes when he says yeah,
[6:43] Speaker 2: you guysn't find it's me the way that he goes.
[6:47] Speaker 2: I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Beck when
[6:49] Speaker 2: he's on the couch. He's a bad partner from what
[6:52] Speaker 2: we've seen. From what we've seen, maybe there's things missing,
[6:55] Speaker 2: But I don't feel sorry for Beck at all. I'm
[6:58] Speaker 2: happy she got away from him.
[7:00] Speaker 1: Response to the public narrative changing over the last week
[7:03] Speaker 1: or so, which this is the first time Danny has
[7:05] Speaker 1: copped negativity like this. A few things have happened. Firstly,
[7:11] Speaker 1: the daily social media content that Danny has been pushing
[7:15] Speaker 1: out has just stopped and he's gone silent and there's
[7:18] Speaker 1: been no interviews. And secondly, his friends have become quite
[7:23] Speaker 1: blatant and shameless in their attempts to take Beck down
[7:28] Speaker 1: and discredit her in the media in a way to
[7:31] Speaker 1: make Danny look good again. A couple of weeks ago, now,
[7:37] Speaker 1: I received several messages on Instagram from a random guy
[7:40] Speaker 1: giving me the intel on how Beck was apparently given
[7:44] Speaker 1: her house that we saw in Homestays and she wasn't
[7:47] Speaker 1: fully transparent about it on the show. And in all honesty,
[7:51] Speaker 1: a lot of other people messaged me this with proof,
[7:54] Speaker 1: like people had gone to look at listings when things
[7:56] Speaker 1: were sold, people who know the area, people who know Beck,
[7:59] Speaker 1: and yeah, that is why I asked her about that
[8:02] Speaker 1: in my interview, like two weeks ago. Was that.
[8:04] Speaker 4: Now.
[8:05] Speaker 1: I didn't reply to that guy, firstly because I just
[8:07] Speaker 1: lost his message. I get a lot of messages, and
[8:09] Speaker 1: when people are all saying the same thing, I kind
[8:12] Speaker 1: of make a note and go, oh, well, I'm interviewing
[8:14] Speaker 1: Beck in a few days, so this is good. A
[8:16] Speaker 1: lot of people are talking about this. There's a lot
[8:17] Speaker 1: of confusion. I'll just ask her about that. And then
[8:20] Speaker 1: once I filmed my interview with Beck and asked her
[8:22] Speaker 1: before I managed to edit and get that out, that
[8:25] Speaker 1: guy was back at the top of my inbox because
[8:27] Speaker 1: he messaged me again going no comment question mark is in, like,
[8:31] Speaker 1: why haven't you done a post saying Beck's a liar
[8:34] Speaker 1: about the house? And again I was like, well, that's
[8:36] Speaker 1: a bit weird, So I just I didn't reply to
[8:38] Speaker 1: this person. As my interview with Beck then did go
[8:42] Speaker 1: live and there was that video asking about the house
[8:44] Speaker 1: and she cleared.
[8:45] Speaker 4: Up all that confusion.
[8:46] Speaker 1: That guy messaged me again and he said you should
[8:51] Speaker 1: have asked if the weight she lost was really, oh,
[8:53] Speaker 1: just a zepic, which it was. She made out she
[8:56] Speaker 1: worked really hard to lose her weight, which was also
[8:59] Speaker 1: just a massive why when she was just jabbing. When
[9:02] Speaker 1: I read that message, I was a bit like, this
[9:05] Speaker 1: feels a bit like targeted, and I didn't reply. That's
[9:08] Speaker 1: just not something I want to go in or cover
[9:11] Speaker 1: when it comes to wait and that it's just to me,
[9:14] Speaker 1: that's a bit ikey to Yeah, it's not really something
[9:18] Speaker 1: I want to go into.
[9:19] Speaker 4: But Then the next day that guy messaged me again and.
[9:22] Speaker 1: He goes, oh your dog, don't respond and I won't
[9:27] Speaker 1: give you gossip, And then I didn't reply. Then he
[9:31] Speaker 1: sent another message because I've got some very big gossip
[9:34] Speaker 1: about tonight. Then as I didn't reply again to that,
[9:37] Speaker 1: he messaged me again and he put yeah, ignorant bastard.
[9:41] Speaker 1: And as I then thought, like who is this guy
[9:44] Speaker 1: and why has he got it in for Beck so strongly,
[9:48] Speaker 1: I clicked on his page to do like a little
[9:50] Speaker 1: dig around and just what is the go here?
[9:53] Speaker 4: And what did I see?
[9:55] Speaker 1: Even though his page is private, it still says followed
[9:58] Speaker 1: by Danny Hughes. And then I'm like having a Google
[10:01] Speaker 1: and yes, this is one of Danny's best friends. And
[10:05] Speaker 1: as I saw that, I was then thinking, okay, this
[10:08] Speaker 1: all now makes sense. So then I do reply after
[10:11] Speaker 1: ignoring all these other things calling me ignorant, saying do
[10:14] Speaker 1: you want the gossip? Blah blah blah, and I put, nah,
[10:17] Speaker 1: you lost me at the azepic stuff. That's not gossip
[10:20] Speaker 1: or anything more than you via Danny attempting to discredit
[10:24] Speaker 1: someone anyway you can, And it feels more telling of
[10:28] Speaker 1: Danny than any.
[10:29] Speaker 4: Scandal against Beck.
[10:31] Speaker 1: Danny's mate then replies to that, going, well, that's factual
[10:34] Speaker 1: to once again lies that got told throughout the show,
[10:36] Speaker 1: again trying to get me to do something negative on
[10:39] Speaker 1: Beck and imply that she's been dishonest about her weight.
[10:43] Speaker 1: I then said, regardless what she said or how she
[10:46] Speaker 1: lost weight, Danny having a mate using what I'd say
[10:49] Speaker 1: is Beck's biggest insecurity as a way to discredit her
[10:52] Speaker 1: in the media isn't something I want to get involved in,
[10:56] Speaker 1: as it just feels icky like him having you do
[11:00] Speaker 1: this is more of a thing than if Beck did
[11:04] Speaker 1: or didn't use a zempit. And then as I click
[11:06] Speaker 1: sending that message, that's when Danny's friend got a little
[11:10] Speaker 1: angry and he said, let's get one thing straight. Danny
[11:16] Speaker 1: does not orchestrate this or ask me to message you.
[11:19] Speaker 1: I do it based off yes, what Danny tells me. Yes, true,
[11:23] Speaker 1: but more through my frustration of watching the show and
[11:25] Speaker 1: seeing her lies. Probably no different to anybody else who
[11:29] Speaker 1: leaks you info. They're all giving you info because they
[11:32] Speaker 1: know someone who tells them stuff. You have no idea
[11:35] Speaker 1: what he went through or continues to go through. She
[11:38] Speaker 1: gets drunk and starts abusing him. While the episodes are
[11:40] Speaker 1: on all the lies she tells and says how much
[11:43] Speaker 1: she's changed and that she's not that person. Danny continues
[11:47] Speaker 1: to cop shit weekly. So yes, when I see it
[11:49] Speaker 1: continuing to lie, I feel I occasionally feel like telling
[11:53] Speaker 1: you it's got fuck all to do with Danny telling
[11:56] Speaker 1: me to do it.
[11:56] Speaker 4: He wouldn't even know I am.
[11:58] Speaker 1: I just do it out of frustration to her bullshit
[12:01] Speaker 1: lies and brave.
[12:04] Speaker 4: And I never replied to that guy again.
[12:06] Speaker 1: And that was a few days ago, and I wasn't
[12:08] Speaker 1: going to mention any of this on the podcast, but
[12:11] Speaker 1: I've kind of sat with it and been thinking about it,
[12:13] Speaker 1: and this is actually just as much part of the
[12:18] Speaker 1: overall story of this season as anything else in my
[12:22] Speaker 1: eyes at least, And as you know, throughout the season,
[12:25] Speaker 1: I think things have changed in how this show is
[12:28] Speaker 1: reported on and covered, and these media games and attempted
[12:33] Speaker 1: takedowns and leaked stories. To me, at least, that's the
[12:37] Speaker 1: most interesting part of it all. Like when Ma's first
[12:40] Speaker 1: blew up what about seven eight years ago. Now in Australia,
[12:42] Speaker 1: we as viewers and the media, we focused all of
[12:46] Speaker 1: our attention on what was happening on screen and those storylines,
[12:50] Speaker 1: and then as each season passed, our attention then turned
[12:54] Speaker 1: to like the on screen storylines versus what the cast
[12:58] Speaker 1: was saying actually happened during their interviews. That then turned
[13:02] Speaker 1: into the narrative in the media, often being about the
[13:06] Speaker 1: edit and blaming the producers for things. But now this year,
[13:11] Speaker 1: as like the cast feel more desperate for fame than
[13:14] Speaker 1: ever this side of how they're trying to orchestrate the
[13:19] Speaker 1: media and use the media and leak things on each
[13:23] Speaker 1: other and tear people down to build themselves up and
[13:26] Speaker 1: distract from their own scandals. Like, to me, that is
[13:29] Speaker 1: now where we're at in how we cover this show,
[13:32] Speaker 1: how we discussed this show, and what is a huge
[13:36] Speaker 1: part of this show. So yes, that's why I'm talking
[13:40] Speaker 1: about this. Before we move on, though, in the sake
[13:42] Speaker 1: of being fair, I'll just reiterate what Danny's friend said
[13:45] Speaker 1: to me in his last message, how he claimed that
[13:48] Speaker 1: Danny wasn't aware he was sending me these messages and
[13:51] Speaker 1: sending dirt on Beck. And he said how Danny didn't
[13:55] Speaker 1: tell him.
[13:56] Speaker 4: To do this.
[13:57] Speaker 1: It's your choice if you believe that or not. Personally,
[14:01] Speaker 1: I don't because it feels like, as the public narrative
[14:05] Speaker 1: has started to shift for Danny over the last week
[14:08] Speaker 1: or so, he's now at a loss of how he
[14:10] Speaker 1: can regain control, and he's playing dirty like this because like,
[14:15] Speaker 1: alongside this friend sending me messages like that, you've also
[14:18] Speaker 1: got his other mate will the Strip, a guy still
[14:22] Speaker 1: doing tiktoks like me vibing at Danny's wedding though, and
[14:25] Speaker 1: it's all going to end in divorce, which he put
[14:27] Speaker 1: out after final vows and was kind of mocking final
[14:30] Speaker 1: vows and how sad Beck was. And actually that same
[14:34] Speaker 1: friend of Danny's who was messaging me, I've seen today
[14:37] Speaker 1: how he's been leaving public comments on the official Maths
[14:40] Speaker 1: posts on Instagram, writing things like pathetic Beck, perhaps layoff
[14:45] Speaker 1: drugs and a zenpiics so you don't have your crazy
[14:48] Speaker 1: mood swings, which again is just like nah feels a
[14:52] Speaker 1: bit off. And if you're wonder in like, hey, well,
[14:55] Speaker 1: what is Danny's next move going to be and how
[14:58] Speaker 1: is he going to try and win everyone and back over,
[15:01] Speaker 1: I honestly think that he himself currently has no idea
[15:05] Speaker 1: how he's going to manage that, and it's going to
[15:08] Speaker 1: get a lot worse over the next few days. The
[15:12] Speaker 1: reunion dinner Party episode, I'm told we'll divide people. Beck
[15:16] Speaker 1: will have an extreme reaction to the whole Danny and
[15:19] Speaker 1: Steph accusations, and you know, revelation that they've been secretly
[15:24] Speaker 1: messaging even though it's innocent, and that will make people
[15:28] Speaker 1: call Beck crazy again. But apparently Danny just doesn't come
[15:31] Speaker 1: across great throughout that ivor, and e skews a bit
[15:35] Speaker 1: arrogant while failing to understand why Beck is so upset
[15:38] Speaker 1: and how he led her on and led her to
[15:42] Speaker 1: being this upset. And then I'm not sure what happens
[15:45] Speaker 1: at the final sit down, you know, with the experts,
[15:48] Speaker 1: I know that the dinner party doesn't end with Danny
[15:50] Speaker 1: saying like he doesn't even want to go to that
[15:53] Speaker 1: because he's afraid he's going to be grilled again and
[15:55] Speaker 1: come across worse. But here's the interesting part. I'm told
[16:00] Speaker 1: that the next episode of the After the Dinner Party Show,
[16:04] Speaker 1: which will be the final episode of that for the season,
[16:06] Speaker 1: not only did Danny just not show up for his interview,
[16:10] Speaker 1: but the main part of the episode is Britt and
[16:13] Speaker 1: Laura pulling up heaps of unseen moments of Danny throughout
[16:17] Speaker 1: the whole experiment, which apparently show him in the worst
[16:21] Speaker 1: possible light. And they show these two Beck who apparently
[16:26] Speaker 1: feels validated, like she's been saying how Danny told her
[16:29] Speaker 1: off camera he loves her and led her on and
[16:31] Speaker 1: all that, but we haven't seen that. Apparently whatever they
[16:34] Speaker 1: bring up proves Beck is right and that her hurt
[16:39] Speaker 1: is justified and that he did lead her on. And
[16:43] Speaker 1: apparently Beck breaks down in tears during the after the
[16:47] Speaker 1: dinner party. And again, I don't know exactly what Danny
[16:51] Speaker 1: says in these clips are what he's shown, but multiple
[16:54] Speaker 1: people have just told me now that it's bad, and Danny, yeah,
[16:59] Speaker 1: there's not much he can really say to excuse whatever
[17:03] Speaker 1: these things show or whatever he says. So yeah, that's
[17:08] Speaker 1: that's today's podcast. It's gonna be an interesting couple of
[17:12] Speaker 1: days as the season ends, and I think there's a
[17:14] Speaker 1: lot of unanswered questions currently. But one thing that seems
[17:18] Speaker 1: certain is this season will not be ending as Danny
[17:22] Speaker 1: had hoped, and he will not be leaving as mister Popular,
