[0:00] Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome back to the MATHSNY podcast, and welcome
[0:03] Speaker 1: to some very big updates and exciting things about the
[0:06] Speaker 1: brand new Marylett First Sight twenty twenty seven season, which
[0:11] Speaker 1: most of the weddings have now been filmed in Sydney.
[0:13] Speaker 1: And you know what, I was going to save this
[0:15] Speaker 1: bit to the end, but I'm too excited to share
[0:17] Speaker 1: it because this season we will see the return of lesbians.
[0:23] Speaker 1: Oh I don't know why I'm excited about that now.
[0:28] Speaker 1: I'm just excited that there's more queer representation. You know,
[0:31] Speaker 1: last year we had a gay couple didn't work out.
[0:35] Speaker 1: This show feels like they just have to tick that
[0:37] Speaker 1: queer box like once every three years, which not really
[0:40] Speaker 1: ideal since you know, look around in society there's quite
[0:42] Speaker 1: a lot of us queer people out there. So yeah,
[0:45] Speaker 1: when I found out the other day that there's a
[0:47] Speaker 1: lesbian couple on the new season, I was like, oh shit, yeah,
[0:50] Speaker 1: good on you. Let's hope these have more luck than
[0:52] Speaker 1: all the other previous gay and lesbian couples of this show.
[0:57] Speaker 2: Have matched terribly.
[0:59] Speaker 1: One interesting I'm told so far about the lesbian couple is,
[1:02] Speaker 1: you know, at the start of the season, when they
[1:03] Speaker 1: do the Books and the Hens Party.
[1:06] Speaker 2: The bombshell of that episode.
[1:08] Speaker 1: Was at the end of like all the guys arriving
[1:11] Speaker 1: at the Books party, they got one of the women,
[1:15] Speaker 1: one of the sounds weird to keep going, one of
[1:17] Speaker 1: the lesbians, but yeah, one of the lesbian couple. She
[1:22] Speaker 1: then arrives at the Books party and walks in at
[1:24] Speaker 1: the end, and everyone's like, oh my god, what the hell,
[1:25] Speaker 1: there's a woman here. And I haven't physically seen like
[1:28] Speaker 1: this couple what they look like, and I hate going
[1:31] Speaker 1: into like gay, queer lesbian stereotypes, but I would assume
[1:35] Speaker 1: Maths being Maths, they would have put the more feminine
[1:39] Speaker 1: of the pair at the Hens party with the rest
[1:41] Speaker 1: of the brides. And then if one's slightly more masculine
[1:45] Speaker 1: or I hate this word, but you know when people
[1:47] Speaker 1: say butch, if one's a bit more yeah, masculine, they.
[1:51] Speaker 2: Would have obviously put her with the guys.
[1:53] Speaker 1: Because we know this show loves to play into stereotypes.
[1:57] Speaker 1: But let's ignore that for now and just be happy
[1:59] Speaker 1: that there is there's more queer representation coming. Now, Let's
[2:04] Speaker 1: just take a step back for a second and look
[2:05] Speaker 1: at the twenty twenty seven season as a whole, and like,
[2:08] Speaker 1: before I get to what I know, let's look at
[2:11] Speaker 1: what is actually out there already. And in May, some
[2:15] Speaker 1: of you may remember, Pedestrian ran an article which claimed
[2:18] Speaker 1: that producers are quietly planning to bring back one or
[2:22] Speaker 1: two former brides and grooms to take part in the
[2:24] Speaker 1: next season. According to well placed sources, secret meetings with
[2:29] Speaker 1: former participants have already begun across the country. Producers are
[2:34] Speaker 1: absolutely speaking to returning participants right now. One inside acclaimed,
[2:38] Speaker 1: but the clever parties, most of them think they're the
[2:41] Speaker 1: only former.
[2:42] Speaker 2: Contestant being approached.
[2:44] Speaker 1: And Pedestrian made a point to say that this isn't
[2:47] Speaker 1: that spin off like Maths or Stars UK Australia, whatever
[2:51] Speaker 1: that is, if that's still happening, This is returning people
[2:55] Speaker 1: for this upcoming twenty twenty seven regular series.
[3:00] Speaker 2: However, that's true, I've got no idea.
[3:01] Speaker 1: But in all honesty, I only had time to crash
[3:04] Speaker 1: two of the ten weddings this series, so yeah, suppose
[3:09] Speaker 1: time will tell.
[3:12] Speaker 2: A few weeks after.
[3:12] Speaker 1: That piece from Pedestrian, Daily Mail then ran an article
[3:15] Speaker 1: which wrote married at first sight in crisis, producers launched
[3:19] Speaker 1: desperate search for older grooms as casting overhaul froze twenty
[3:25] Speaker 1: twenty seven season into chaos. Very dramatic headline and if
[3:29] Speaker 1: you're thinking, wait, that sounds a bit familiar, let's go
[3:32] Speaker 1: back twelve months earlier to this exact time last year,
[3:36] Speaker 1: to this pretty much identical story about last season.
[3:39] Speaker 3: Filming of the twenty twenty five season of Married at
[3:41] Speaker 3: First Side Australia has been delayed due to a casting crisis.
[3:45] Speaker 1: I suppose one thing we can say here is isn't
[3:47] Speaker 1: just the storylines on Married at First Site that get repetitive,
[3:50] Speaker 1: but also the media coverage too. Apparently, you know what,
[3:54] Speaker 1: give it another couple of weeks and I guarantee we
[3:56] Speaker 1: are going to have the annual maths cast snubbed from
[3:59] Speaker 1: the low articles and posts and drama and.
[4:03] Speaker 2: Will I be talking about it absolutely.
[4:06] Speaker 1: In that article though, from Dela Mail a couple of
[4:08] Speaker 1: weeks ago about the upcoming season, they said, according to
[4:11] Speaker 1: multiple production insiders, the final cast is still far from
[4:15] Speaker 1: complete after a strict new vetting process triggered a wave
[4:19] Speaker 1: of last minute withdrawals, forcing casting producers into a desperate
[4:23] Speaker 1: search for eligible men. Now side note, has this show
[4:28] Speaker 1: ever produced any eligible men? If we've had what maybe
[4:31] Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty guys across every season, there's probably
[4:34] Speaker 1: been about four. And then circling back to that point
[4:37] Speaker 1: of strict new vetting process, well, previously it doesn't seem
[4:40] Speaker 1: to actually had any vetting given what's come out about
[4:43] Speaker 1: most of the grooms. So like, if they are now
[4:45] Speaker 1: doing background checks, then that's me clapping the executive producers
[4:50] Speaker 1: of this show, well done and doing the bare minimum. Guys,
[4:53] Speaker 1: it's finally happened. You take the most average boxes to
[4:57] Speaker 1: safeguard the people on set of your show. Back to
[5:00] Speaker 1: the article though, and I'm not gonna lie, I do
[5:02] Speaker 1: have a bit of an issue with this whole thing
[5:05] Speaker 1: because in the headline it says producers launch desperate search
[5:10] Speaker 1: for older grooms. Then I'm thinking, oh shit, like, is
[5:12] Speaker 1: it gonna be like the Golden Bachelor. We're gonna get,
[5:14] Speaker 1: you know, some seasoned men who have lived a life
[5:18] Speaker 1: already and have experiences to sharing, maybe kids and former marriages.
[5:23] Speaker 1: And then you get into the article and it says
[5:26] Speaker 1: they've issued an urgent call for male applicants aged twenty
[5:29] Speaker 1: eight and over. Is this now what's classed as like
[5:32] Speaker 1: an older gentleman twenty eight and above. What does that
[5:36] Speaker 1: make me the fuck mate that's pissed me off? That,
[5:41] Speaker 1: especially since my birthday in a few weeks. The article
[5:43] Speaker 1: then goes on to say this has probably been the
[5:46] Speaker 1: toughest casting process the show's ever had. Normally, by this
[5:50] Speaker 1: point they'd be feeling pretty confident about the lineup. Instead,
[5:53] Speaker 1: they're still trying to lock in people because the new
[5:55] Speaker 1: background checks are eliminating far more applicants than anyone expected. Normally,
[6:00] Speaker 1: by this point, they'd be feeling pretty confident about the lineup.
[6:03] Speaker 1: He's sure, we've not had much success rate in the past.
[6:05] Speaker 2: Guys.
[6:06] Speaker 1: Instead, they're still trying to lock in people because the
[6:09] Speaker 1: new background check. Oh, they are doing background checks. I
[6:13] Speaker 1: hope you're clapping in the carr or wherever you're listening
[6:15] Speaker 1: as well while doing guys. Yeah, these new background checks
[6:18] Speaker 1: are eliminating far more applicants than anyone expect anyone. Are
[6:23] Speaker 1: you sure about that, because if you did background checks,
[6:26] Speaker 1: I think most of us would say, yeah, you'd probably
[6:28] Speaker 1: eliminate most of them, given past record of the show.
[6:32] Speaker 1: Moving on, though, those two articles were in the past,
[6:34] Speaker 1: and now we're in the present, and at this point
[6:37] Speaker 1: in time, most of the weddings, if not all of them,
[6:39] Speaker 1: have been filmed. Most of the couples are now filming
[6:42] Speaker 1: their honeymoons. And one of the weddings did go quite
[6:46] Speaker 1: viral when I attended it, and that was half because
[6:48] Speaker 1: I decided to float into shark infested waters on an
[6:52] Speaker 1: inflatable air mattress to get a better view of the ceremony,
[6:56] Speaker 1: which was.
[6:56] Speaker 2: Arguably a great idea or a terrible idea.
[6:59] Speaker 1: Depending on if you're asking me or my mum, who
[7:01] Speaker 1: was quite horrified watching that one to get the shot.
[7:11] Speaker 1: And the other reason it went viral was because half
[7:13] Speaker 1: of the people watching recognized the groom as the hey
[7:16] Speaker 1: Honey guy of TikTok. And if you have no idea
[7:20] Speaker 1: what that means, like I didn't a week ago, the groom,
[7:23] Speaker 1: who is called Caine, He basically he's known on TikTok
[7:26] Speaker 1: and he starts every TikTok like this, and then after
[7:30] Speaker 1: he does his hey honey intro, he goes into like
[7:33] Speaker 1: some kind of wholesome and cute message.
[7:35] Speaker 3: You'll never be too much for someone who can't get
[7:39] Speaker 3: enough of you. Yep.
[7:43] Speaker 1: Anyway, the problem with that is his audience on socials
[7:46] Speaker 1: who follow him, and he's got a lot of followers
[7:47] Speaker 1: like love that content and that stuff. But now he's
[7:50] Speaker 1: on maps, he's kind of got a wider audience looking
[7:53] Speaker 1: at him, and quite a few people who are a.
[7:55] Speaker 2: Bit suss on this guy.
[7:57] Speaker 1: Firstly because like he literally has, as I said, hundreds
[8:00] Speaker 1: of thousands of followers of women who are all in
[8:03] Speaker 1: love with them, which raises the question, mate, if you
[8:06] Speaker 1: can't find someone with our a TV.
[8:08] Speaker 2: Show, like what hope that the rest of us have?
[8:11] Speaker 2: And also people are.
[8:12] Speaker 1: Sustening because he literally runs he's on like dating event business.
[8:17] Speaker 3: Hey Honey Social, You've got to be getting me. I
[8:22] Speaker 3: and my team have created Hey Honey Social, which is
[8:25] Speaker 3: and in real life dating experience to meet people in
[8:30] Speaker 3: the flesh. We're getting off the apps. The apps are done,
[8:33] Speaker 3: the apps are gone. The other dating events no good.
[8:36] Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about this year premium experience,
[8:41] Speaker 3: fully catered events, drinks packages, DJs, you name it. Hey
[8:45] Speaker 3: Honey Social. The first one's launching in Perth where I live,
[8:49] Speaker 3: so that's even better. And we're going to be launching
[8:51] Speaker 3: these Australia wide. But the waitlist is filling up, so
[8:55] Speaker 3: please please if you're single and you like to mingle, Yes,
[9:02] Speaker 3: please go to the link in my bio and register.
[9:06] Speaker 1: And not only that, but mister Hey Honey at his
[9:09] Speaker 1: like dating events which he runs, Like when you buy
[9:12] Speaker 1: a ticket, you also get a fifteen minute session with
[9:15] Speaker 1: him as your own relationship expert.
[9:18] Speaker 3: Hey Honey, with any ticket purchased in the next twenty
[9:21] Speaker 3: four hours, you're going to get a one on one
[9:24] Speaker 3: session with me to clear up anything that's holding you
[9:26] Speaker 3: back in the way of dating men, relationships, anything you
[9:29] Speaker 3: need to know. So I'm going to be live tonight
[9:32] Speaker 3: seven pm per time. Jump on there, grab a ticket
[9:37] Speaker 3: and yeah, let's get a session booked in and see
[9:39] Speaker 3: if we can clear up some of that negative energy.
[9:42] Speaker 3: I love you all, looking forward to it. See you
[9:45] Speaker 3: on TikTok tonight seven pm.
[9:47] Speaker 1: So now most people who have just discovered this guy
[9:49] Speaker 1: on line are like, yeah, like he seems nice and stuff,
[9:52] Speaker 1: but like, does this guy literally need a TV show
[9:55] Speaker 1: to find love?
[9:56] Speaker 2: Probably not.
[9:58] Speaker 1: Also on this guy. About seven minutes after he was
[10:00] Speaker 1: papped arriving to film his wedding last week, Daily Mail
[10:03] Speaker 1: quickly snapped up a story where they revealed he was
[10:06] Speaker 1: previously on the Bachelorette like ten years ago as one
[10:09] Speaker 1: of the guys like wanting to date. It sounds weird
[10:13] Speaker 1: to say win Sam Frost, as if she's like a competition,
[10:16] Speaker 1: but you know what I mean.
[10:17] Speaker 2: He was one of the.
[10:17] Speaker 1: Guys on her series, and that article came out like
[10:20] Speaker 1: stating that while he was literally still filming his wedding
[10:24] Speaker 1: with the bride who had just met him minutes earlier,
[10:27] Speaker 1: and then me being the shits there I am as
[10:30] Speaker 1: that couple then walked out of that ceremony to go
[10:33] Speaker 1: do the you know, the awkward photo shoot scene.
[10:37] Speaker 2: I thought, Hey, I wonder if she knows about this?
[10:40] Speaker 1: Says she's seen the article yet probs not, since she's
[10:42] Speaker 1: not got a phone and no one else would have
[10:43] Speaker 1: interrupted the ceremony.
[10:45] Speaker 2: To tell her.
[10:45] Speaker 1: So I thought, this is my duty to break this
[10:49] Speaker 1: news to her right now in front of the husband.
[10:53] Speaker 1: Now as your new husband told you how he used
[10:55] Speaker 1: to be on the Bachelorette.
[10:57] Speaker 2: Now if we discussed the Bachelorette.
[10:59] Speaker 4: Yeah, now we haven't just married.
[11:03] Speaker 2: These two.
[11:05] Speaker 4: Looks like it's going all right, maybe a few twisting
[11:09] Speaker 4: turns on the wake that they'd just ruin a storyline.
[11:12] Speaker 2: Why did I do that I don't even know.
[11:15] Speaker 1: To be honest, My issue in life, which if you
[11:17] Speaker 1: followed me for a while you may acknowledge, is I
[11:20] Speaker 1: often just get so caught up in the excitement of
[11:23] Speaker 1: things and the adrenaline rush and like, you know.
[11:25] Speaker 2: The dopamine that I don't think for us and like that.
[11:29] Speaker 1: You know, the air mattress is a perfect example of that.
[11:32] Speaker 1: I thought, well, this would be funny. I happened to
[11:34] Speaker 1: have an air mattress in my car. There was a
[11:36] Speaker 1: trade like park next to it, who had like some
[11:38] Speaker 1: weird blowy thing to blow it up, and then I thought,
[11:42] Speaker 1: let's do it like everyone's like, you know, there's sharks
[11:44] Speaker 1: and there. I was like, I'll be right, yeah, Do
[11:47] Speaker 1: I regret telling her that no, not really, it's mass
[11:49] Speaker 1: in it drama.
[11:52] Speaker 2: Before we now move on to the next wedding I attended, I.
[11:55] Speaker 1: Just want to say I don't think this groom's a
[11:57] Speaker 1: bad guy. I don't know anything about him.
[12:00] Speaker 2: But do I think he's there solely for love? Absolutely not.
[12:03] Speaker 1: He's out for opportunities and if he gets love on
[12:06] Speaker 1: the side, great, And that's literally the same story for
[12:09] Speaker 1: I'd say ninety five percent of people who ever.
[12:12] Speaker 2: Go on this show. It's like the opportunity, the exposure, just.
[12:16] Speaker 1: That the adventure is the main incentive, and then if
[12:20] Speaker 1: you do find love great. Surprisingly, though, as people were
[12:24] Speaker 1: like coming for this guy online and kind of saying
[12:26] Speaker 1: he's there for the wrong reasons, one person who became
[12:30] Speaker 1: the voice of reason was Jea.
[12:32] Speaker 5: I've already seen some stuff about some of the cast,
[12:35] Speaker 5: like the guy, Hey honey, guy on TikTok, and I've
[12:40] Speaker 5: seen people being like, oh my god, this is that,
[12:43] Speaker 5: Like let's go with him the benefit of the doubt.
[12:45] Speaker 6: We don't know him, we don't know his people. I
[12:47] Speaker 6: remember when I was leaked online and everyone was like, oh,
[12:50] Speaker 6: she's just here for cloud, She's this, she's that, And
[12:52] Speaker 6: I remember reading it all on my honeymoon and going,
[12:54] Speaker 6: oh my god, everyone's gonna hate me. Like it's stressful
[12:57] Speaker 6: enough getting to know someone who's a stranger getting filmed
[13:01] Speaker 6: sixteen hours a day, So.
[13:02] Speaker 5: Like, let's just give these people grace until we know
[13:04] Speaker 5: who they.
[13:04] Speaker 1: Are moving on from mister Hay honey, and he's bride Kristen. Now,
[13:09] Speaker 1: I went to another wedding in Sydney yesterday, which, if
[13:12] Speaker 1: you haven't seen my video, on Socials. It was awkward
[13:16] Speaker 1: as fuc k because as the bride stepped out of
[13:21] Speaker 1: her limo and she was filming the arrival sequence where
[13:24] Speaker 1: you know, there's a camera crew following her in slow
[13:26] Speaker 1: motion as she walks along this wharf, it was at
[13:29] Speaker 1: she just looked like she'd rather be anywhere else, Like
[13:32] Speaker 1: she looked uncomfortable, and then she hid her face behind
[13:37] Speaker 1: a bouquet, and then she just didn't go inside. And
[13:42] Speaker 1: then the camera crew from Maths they didn't know what
[13:45] Speaker 1: to do, so they kept filming, but they just all
[13:48] Speaker 1: stepped back a little bit, and then this bride was
[13:51] Speaker 1: just stood alone because like the producers who oversee these scenes,
[13:54] Speaker 1: they're always quite far back so they don't get in shot.
[13:57] Speaker 1: So then as the camera crew were like, uh, like
[14:00] Speaker 1: she's not doing what's instructed, you know, walk down here
[14:02] Speaker 1: and go into this door, she's just stopped.
[14:05] Speaker 2: They've all stepped back.
[14:07] Speaker 1: They're still filming, obviously because it's content, but as they
[14:10] Speaker 1: stepped back, then suddenly it was just like me because
[14:14] Speaker 1: where I was stood, she was meant to walk past
[14:16] Speaker 1: and go inside, and I was trying to stand back.
[14:18] Speaker 2: But then when she stopped, I was like.
[14:20] Speaker 1: Oh, fuck, like I don't I don't know what to
[14:22] Speaker 1: do here, Like I'm the closest person to her, and
[14:26] Speaker 1: it just felt awkward. And at the start, I was like,
[14:28] Speaker 1: is this a bit for the show? Is this content?
[14:31] Speaker 1: Is it a storyline?
[14:32] Speaker 2: Is it what? And then I kind of stepped back
[14:34] Speaker 2: a bit.
[14:34] Speaker 1: Then a female producer ran over and like took her inside,
[14:37] Speaker 1: and then when she was inside, other female producers came
[14:39] Speaker 1: over and like it looked just tense as anything, and
[14:45] Speaker 1: it was uncomfortable. And then all the rest of the
[14:48] Speaker 1: producers and the crew started like holding these big bunnings
[14:50] Speaker 1: umbrellas up so me and the other press outside couldn't
[14:54] Speaker 1: see the talks.
[14:55] Speaker 2: They were having.
[14:56] Speaker 1: And then they took her away and then she's kind
[14:59] Speaker 1: of stood with her back to the us, like she
[15:00] Speaker 1: didn't want to talk to them, And yeah, like I've
[15:04] Speaker 1: been to many weddings, as you know, for many years,
[15:07] Speaker 1: and they always go the same like we filmed that
[15:10] Speaker 1: people arrived is a bit of we call it, who hi,
[15:12] Speaker 1: it's just silly, and then they go inside and get married.
[15:15] Speaker 1: But this felt like I felt uncomfortable and I didn't
[15:21] Speaker 1: quite know what to do. And then like seeing the
[15:24] Speaker 1: way all these producers were around her in the talks
[15:28] Speaker 1: they were having, like it looked again, I just felt uncomfortable.
[15:33] Speaker 2: And then I went.
[15:34] Speaker 1: To my car and I had so much work to do,
[15:36] Speaker 1: and I'm sat on my laptop for a bit, just editing.
[15:37] Speaker 1: Then my friend who's still there, text He's like, ah,
[15:40] Speaker 1: I've just seen the groom, like they've took him into
[15:43] Speaker 1: another room and it looks like they're taking him offsite.
[15:45] Speaker 2: And they were hiding him with umbrellas.
[15:46] Speaker 1: And then like an hour later, I just strolled back
[15:49] Speaker 1: over and then I see through the window. There she is,
[15:52] Speaker 1: the bride walking down the aisle to film the ceremony.
[15:55] Speaker 1: They'd obviously talked her into it. And if you see
[15:58] Speaker 1: my video and socials like what which the very last
[16:01] Speaker 1: couple of seconds when she meets the guy, there is
[16:04] Speaker 1: not a smile on her face.
[16:06] Speaker 2: She looks just uncomfortable.
[16:09] Speaker 1: And then since that video came out of mine, and
[16:12] Speaker 1: you know, everyone's talking about.
[16:13] Speaker 2: This moment, the people connected to the show sauces, we
[16:17] Speaker 2: could say, and.
[16:18] Speaker 1: Now trying to spin this kind of narrative story that oh,
[16:21] Speaker 1: she felt so uncomfortable with depress and the media that
[16:24] Speaker 1: that's why she kind of had that wobble when it's like, well,
[16:29] Speaker 1: I disagree with that, like filming on my phone verse
[16:32] Speaker 1: the huge camera crews surrounding her, Like I'd say, which
[16:35] Speaker 1: is a bit more intense.
[16:37] Speaker 2: And intrusive, Probably not me? And then if that.
[16:41] Speaker 1: Was her feeling comfortable because it's me and a paparazzi,
[16:45] Speaker 1: then how can when she went inside, they had to
[16:48] Speaker 1: take two other rooms and we saw these big intense
[16:51] Speaker 1: talks and then the groom was moved and all this stuff.
[16:55] Speaker 1: I to me when I'm hearing this stuff from like
[16:58] Speaker 1: sauces connected to the show, because the vision you see
[17:01] Speaker 1: in my video of how they are like erasing around her,
[17:04] Speaker 1: to me, that's not a good look.
[17:06] Speaker 2: What I am intrigued about, though.
[17:08] Speaker 1: Is when this airs, because obviously on the actual show
[17:12] Speaker 1: she went through with the ceremony. Maybe they'll include a
[17:14] Speaker 1: bit of the wobble and the indecision. But I personally
[17:18] Speaker 1: reckon the way the crew kept filming everything, and at
[17:20] Speaker 1: one point they started pointing out like the press and
[17:22] Speaker 1: each other, you know, for added drama. I reckon they're
[17:26] Speaker 1: gonna do something on that stand after show thing, and
[17:29] Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if they make like the media
[17:31] Speaker 1: look like, oh, how could the media do this? The
[17:33] Speaker 1: media I ruined in everything. They've made her feel so uncomfortable.
[17:38] Speaker 1: The time will tell if that happens, I can tell
[17:40] Speaker 1: you absolutely not the case in the slightest anyway. That's
[17:44] Speaker 1: it for the new season so far. That's everything I know.
[17:47] Speaker 1: If you know anything else, please slide into the DMS
[17:50] Speaker 1: let me know. I am all is.
[17:53] Speaker 2: Say yuh
