We read Philippians 2:17-21 and wrestle with how Paul can command gladness and rejoicing while sitting in prison. We contrast happiness that depends on circumstances with lasting joy found in Jesus, then challenge ourselves to notice the spirit we bring into every room. • reading Philippians 2:17-21 in context and why context matters • Paul’s prison setting and why Philippians is known for joy • distinguishing happiness based on happenings from joy anchored in Jesus • asking whether we celebrate others or default to fault-finding • choosing gladness as a practiced posture, not a personality quirk • critical eye versus critical heart and the “knee-jerk no” reflex • measuring leadership by whether people are glad to see us • John Piper’s Christian hedonism and satisfaction in God showing on our face Before you go, if you want to help equip other men for the fight, share this podcast around and leave us a five star rating and review.
