[0:04] Speaker 1: Huss Studious. Hey there, everyone, Welcome back to Kid's Bedtime Stories.
[0:14] Speaker 1: I'm your host, and tonight I have a very special
[0:19] Speaker 1: story for you about a little girl named Poppy and
[0:24] Speaker 1: the most magical snowflakes you ever did see. Poppy was
[0:30] Speaker 1: six years old with rosy cheeks that turned even rosier
[0:35] Speaker 1: when the winter wind blew. She lived in a cozy
[0:40] Speaker 1: little cottage at the edge of a quiet village, where
[0:45] Speaker 1: the rooftops were always dusted with white and the chimneys
[0:50] Speaker 1: puffed soft clouds of smoke into the pale blue sky.
[0:56] Speaker 1: Every winter, Poppy would press her nose against them the
[1:00] Speaker 1: cold window pane and watched the snowflakes drift down from
[1:05] Speaker 1: the clouds. She loved how each one was different. Some
[1:11] Speaker 1: were tiny and round, like little pearls. Others were wide
[1:17] Speaker 1: and lacy, with branches that looked like tiny frozen ferns,
[1:24] Speaker 1: and some the rarest ones sparkled with colors that Poppy
[1:29] Speaker 1: could only describe as moonbeam blue and starlight gold. One
[1:35] Speaker 1: particularly cold evening, just as the sky turned from lavender
[1:41] Speaker 1: to deep indigo, Poppy noticed something extraordinary among all the
[1:49] Speaker 1: regular white snowflakes falling past her window. There was one
[1:55] Speaker 1: that shimmered with a soft pink glow. It tumbled and
[2:00] Speaker 1: twirled through the air, almost as if it were dancing
[2:04] Speaker 1: rather than falling. Poppy pressed her face closer to the glass.
[2:10] Speaker 1: The glowing snowflake seemed to pause, as if it could
[2:15] Speaker 1: feel her watching. Then very slowly, it drifted sideways toward
[2:23] Speaker 1: her window. Poppy held her breath. The snowflake tapped gently
[2:30] Speaker 1: against the pane once twice. Three, Hello, Poppy whispered. The
[2:44] Speaker 1: snowflake tapped again. Poppy's heart fluttered. She carefully unlatched the
[2:53] Speaker 1: window and pushed it open. Just aprack. A puff of
[2:59] Speaker 1: cold air ran, carrying the scent of pine trees and
[3:04] Speaker 1: fresh snow. The little glowing snowflake floated through the gap
[3:10] Speaker 1: and hovered right in front of Poppy's nose. It was warm.
[3:16] Speaker 1: That was the strangest part. Snowflakes were supposed to be cold,
[3:22] Speaker 1: weren't they, But this one radiated a gentle warmth, like
[3:29] Speaker 1: a tiny candle flame made of ice. I'm Poppy, she said, softly,
[3:36] Speaker 1: what's your name? The snowflake pulsed with light, and somehow
[3:41] Speaker 1: Poppy understood. It didn't speak in words, but she felt
[3:47] Speaker 1: the answer bloom in her mind, like a flower opening.
[3:52] Speaker 1: Its name was Twinkle, and it had been looking for
[3:56] Speaker 1: a friends. A friend, Poppy, smile, I can be your friend.
[4:03] Speaker 1: Dwinkle did a happy little spin in the air, leaving
[4:07] Speaker 1: a trail of pink sparkles behind it. Then it floated
[4:14] Speaker 1: toward the window, as if inviting Poppy to follow. Poppy
[4:19] Speaker 1: looked back at her cozy room, at her warm bed
[4:23] Speaker 1: with its patchwork quilt, at the crackling fireplace in the corner.
[4:30] Speaker 1: She knew her mother would worry if she went outside,
[4:35] Speaker 1: but something about Twinkle's gentle glow felt safe, like a
[4:41] Speaker 1: promise that everything would be all right. She pulled on
[4:45] Speaker 1: her red wool coat, laced up her boots, and wrapped
[4:52] Speaker 1: her scarf tight around her neck. Then she stepped out
[4:59] Speaker 1: into the night. The snow was deeper than she expected,
[5:03] Speaker 1: reaching up past her ankles, but where Twinkle floated ahead
[5:08] Speaker 1: of her, the snow seemed to part gently, making a
[5:13] Speaker 1: path just wide enough for Poppy's boots. The world was
[5:19] Speaker 1: hushed and still, the way it only gets when everything
[5:23] Speaker 1: is covered in fresh snow. They walked past the village square,
[5:28] Speaker 1: where the old stone fountain wore a hat of snow.
[5:32] Speaker 1: Poppy noticed that the snow around the fountain was sparkling
[5:37] Speaker 1: with tiny points of light, as if some one had
[5:40] Speaker 1: scattered diamonds across the ground. She knelt down and touched
[5:46] Speaker 1: the snow with her bare finger tip. It was warm
[5:50] Speaker 1: and tingled gently, like holding a firefly. Is this your doing?
[5:56] Speaker 1: She asked, Twinkle. The little snowflake bobbed up and down,
[6:01] Speaker 1: which Poppy took as a yes. She giggled and scooped
[6:07] Speaker 1: up a handful of the sparkling snow, letting it cascade
[6:12] Speaker 1: through her fingers like glittering rain. Each flake that fell
[6:19] Speaker 1: left a tiny trail of light before it melted away.
[6:23] Speaker 1: They passed mister Henderson's Bakery, its windows glowing warm and golden,
[6:30] Speaker 1: the smell of fresh bread still clinging to the door.
[6:35] Speaker 1: Through the glass, Poppy could see the loaves cooling on
[6:39] Speaker 1: the shelves, their crusts golden brown and glistening. Twinkle tapped
[6:46] Speaker 1: against the window, and the bread seemed to glow a
[6:50] Speaker 1: little warmer, as if the snowflake were saying warm wishes
[6:55] Speaker 1: to all the sleepy villagers. They passed Henderson's Bakery, its
[7:03] Speaker 1: windows glowing warm and golden. The smell of fresh bread.
[7:08] Speaker 1: Still clinging to the door, they crossed the little wooden
[7:12] Speaker 1: bridge over Whispering Creek, which was frozen solid now, its
[7:17] Speaker 1: surface smooth as glass. Through it all, Twinkle led the way,
[7:26] Speaker 1: bobbing and weaving through the air like a tiny pink lantern.
[7:33] Speaker 1: And as they walked, something magical began to happen. More
[7:39] Speaker 1: snowflakes started to glow, First just a few here and there,
[7:47] Speaker 1: like stars winking to life, then dozens, then hundreds, until
[7:55] Speaker 1: the entire sky was filled with softly glowing snowflakes in
[8:01] Speaker 1: every color Poppy had ever imagined. There were pink ones
[8:06] Speaker 1: and gold ones, soft blue ones and gentle green ones.
[8:13] Speaker 1: There were orange ones that looked like tiny embers, and
[8:18] Speaker 1: purple ones that shimmered like amethysts. The whole sky was
[8:24] Speaker 1: a silent, swirling rainbow of light. Poppy spun around with
[8:29] Speaker 1: her arms outstretched, her face turned up to the sky.
[8:35] Speaker 1: She could hear a faint melody, like wind chimes made
[8:39] Speaker 1: of crystal, drifting down from above. The sound was so
[8:45] Speaker 1: gentle and sweet that it made her eyes feel heavy
[8:49] Speaker 1: with contentment. She took a deep breath and tasted the
[8:54] Speaker 1: snowflakes on her tongue. They tasted like honey and laughing
[9:01] Speaker 1: and the first breath of morning. The warm snowflakes drifted
[9:05] Speaker 1: past her cheeks and landed on her coat, each one
[9:11] Speaker 1: leaving a tiny spot of color before melting away. It's wonderful,
[9:17] Speaker 1: she breathed. Twinkle glowed brighter, and Poppy felt a wave
[9:23] Speaker 1: of happiness that wasn't quite her own. It was Twinkle's
[9:27] Speaker 1: happiness mixed with hers, like two songs harmonizing together. As
[9:33] Speaker 1: they walked, Poppy noticed that the glowing snowflakes had attracted
[9:38] Speaker 1: some curious visitors. A family of rabbits hopped out from
[9:44] Speaker 1: under a hedge, their whiskers twitching as they watched the
[9:48] Speaker 1: colorful lights dance above them. A barnow swooped down from
[9:55] Speaker 1: a bare oak tree, its wide amber eyes reflecting the
[9:59] Speaker 1: rain of colors in the sky. Even the old tabby
[10:03] Speaker 1: cat from the bakery was sitting on a fence post,
[10:07] Speaker 1: its tail wrapped neatly around its paws, watching the spectacle
[10:13] Speaker 1: with quiet fascination. They can see it too, Poppy whispered
[10:18] Speaker 1: to Twinkle. Crinkle pulsed warmly, and Poppy understood all creatures
[10:27] Speaker 1: big and small could see the magic when they were
[10:32] Speaker 1: quiet enough to notice it. Most people were too busy
[10:38] Speaker 1: rushing through their days to look up and see the
[10:42] Speaker 1: wonder that was always there, just waiting to be found.
[10:49] Speaker 1: But children and animals and anyone who still remembered how
[10:56] Speaker 1: to be still and pay attention, they could see it all.
[11:02] Speaker 1: Poppy made a silent promise to herself. She would always
[11:07] Speaker 1: be someone who looked up. She would always be someone
[11:12] Speaker 1: who noticed the small, wonderful things that others might walk
[11:18] Speaker 1: right past. They continued walking until they reached the top
[11:23] Speaker 1: of Hilltop Meadow, the highest point in the whole village.
[11:29] Speaker 1: From here, Poppy could see every rooftop, every chimney, every
[11:36] Speaker 1: little garden fence, all blanketed in sparkling white, and above
[11:42] Speaker 1: it all the glowing snowflakes danced twinkle, hovered in front
[11:47] Speaker 1: of Poppy and pulsed three times, slowly, like a heartbeat.
[11:55] Speaker 1: Then something extraordinary happened. Every glowing snowflake in the sky
[12:01] Speaker 1: froze in place, all at once, as if someone had
[12:07] Speaker 1: pressed paws on the whole world. Then they began to dance,
[12:14] Speaker 1: not falling or drifting, but truly dancing. They swirled in
[12:21] Speaker 1: great spiraling patterns forming shapes in the sky. Poppy saw
[12:28] Speaker 1: a snowflake shaped like a cat leaping through the air,
[12:33] Speaker 1: then one shaped like a bird with outstretched wings, then
[12:39] Speaker 1: a flower opening its petals, then a little house with
[12:45] Speaker 1: a chimney puffing imaginary smoke. Each shape glowed brighter than
[12:50] Speaker 1: the last, and Poppy clapped her mittened hands in delight.
[12:55] Speaker 1: This was the most wonderful thing she had ever seen.
[13:00] Speaker 1: After what felt like hours but was probably only minutes,
[13:05] Speaker 1: the dancing slowed, the snowflakes settled back into their gentle
[13:11] Speaker 1: drifting pattern, still glowing, still warm, Twinkle floated close to
[13:19] Speaker 1: Poppy's face again, and she felt a soft, gentle sadness.
[13:24] Speaker 1: You have to go, don't you, Poppy asked Twinkle polst
[13:30] Speaker 1: once sadly. Poppy reached out with one mittened hand. Twinkle
[13:36] Speaker 1: landed softly on her palm. It was impossibly light, lighter
[13:42] Speaker 1: than a whisper, lighter than a thought, but its warmth
[13:46] Speaker 1: spread through Poppy's glove and up her arm, filling her
[13:51] Speaker 1: with a cozy feeling that reached all the way to
[13:54] Speaker 1: her toes. Will I see you again, she asked. Hinkle
[13:58] Speaker 1: pulsed twice and this time, Poppy felt the answer clearly,
[14:04] Speaker 1: not in words, but in a feeling, a feeling of circles,
[14:10] Speaker 1: of seasons, of things that come back around, a feeling
[14:17] Speaker 1: that said, every winter, when the first snow falls, look
[14:23] Speaker 1: for the one that glows. Toppy smiled through suddenly misty eyes.
[14:30] Speaker 1: I'll look for you, she promised. Twinkle rose from her palm,
[14:35] Speaker 1: circled her head once in a gentle farewell spin, and
[14:39] Speaker 1: then floated up, up, up, joining the other glowing snowflakes
[14:46] Speaker 1: in the sky. Within moments, it was impossible to tell
[14:51] Speaker 1: which one was Twinkle, because they all seemed to glow
[14:55] Speaker 1: a little brighter now, as if Poppy's promise had lit
[15:00] Speaker 1: something inside each of them. Poppy stood on hilltop meadow
[15:04] Speaker 1: for a long time, watching the sky. Then she turned
[15:11] Speaker 1: and walked back down the hill, following the path the
[15:15] Speaker 1: snowflakes had made for her. The village was quiet and still,
[15:22] Speaker 1: every window dark, every door shut tight against the cold.
[15:28] Speaker 1: She climbed back through her window, took off her coat
[15:33] Speaker 1: and boots, and shook the last few sparkling snowflakes from
[15:38] Speaker 1: her scarf. They tumbled to the floor and disappeared with tiny,
[15:45] Speaker 1: almost silent pops like miniature fireworks, fading into nothing. She
[15:51] Speaker 1: found a note from her mother on her pillow. Sweet dreams,
[15:56] Speaker 1: my little Poppy, I love you the moon and back.
[16:02] Speaker 1: Poppy smiled, kissed the note and tucked it under her
[16:07] Speaker 1: pillow for safe keeping. Then she slid under her patchwork quilt.
[16:13] Speaker 1: The fireplace had burned down to soft embers, but her
[16:17] Speaker 1: room was still warm. She could see the snowflakes drifting
[16:22] Speaker 1: past her window, still glowing, still dancing, though a little
[16:29] Speaker 1: more softly now. As she drifted off to sleep, Poppy smiled.
[16:36] Speaker 1: She knew that when morning came, the snowflakes would be gone,
[16:42] Speaker 1: melted away with the sunrise. But she also knew that
[16:48] Speaker 1: Twinkle would come back. Every winter. When the first snow fell,
[16:56] Speaker 1: she would look for the one that glowed, and she
[17:00] Speaker 1: would always find it. Good Night, everyone, sleep tight, and
[17:07] Speaker 1: maybe tonight, if you look out your window, you'll see
[17:11] Speaker 1: a snowflake dancing just for you. Hey, there, before you
[17:18] Speaker 1: drift off to sleep, I want to thank you for
[17:21] Speaker 1: listening tonight. If you enjoyed Poppy's story, make sure to
