[0:04] Speaker 1: Us Studio Eyes. Hey there everyone, welcome back to kids
[0:12] Speaker 1: Bedtime Stories. I'm so happy you're here with me tonight.
[0:17] Speaker 1: Whether you're tucked in bed, sitting on the couch, or
[0:21] Speaker 1: riding in the car on the way home, I'm glad
[0:24] Speaker 1: you pressed play tonight. We have a really special story
[0:30] Speaker 1: about a little girl named Coral who discovers something magical
[0:34] Speaker 1: on the beach. It involves seashells, a soft breeze, and
[0:40] Speaker 1: a whole lot of wonder. So get cozy, take a
[0:46] Speaker 1: deep breath, and let's begin. Before we start, shout out
[0:53] Speaker 1: to everyone listening right now. If you're new here, welcome,
[0:59] Speaker 1: If you've been here before, it's so good to have
[1:03] Speaker 1: you back. And if you're enjoying the show, don't forget
[1:07] Speaker 1: to hit subscribe and leave us a review. It really
[1:12] Speaker 1: does mean the world to us. Now, let me set
[1:16] Speaker 1: the scene. The sun was dipping low over the horizon,
[1:21] Speaker 1: painting the sky in shades of orange and pink and
[1:26] Speaker 1: a deep, creamy gold. Coral was walking barefoot along the shore,
[1:34] Speaker 1: her toes sinking into the cool, wet sand with every step.
[1:40] Speaker 1: She was ten years old, with sun bleached brown hair
[1:44] Speaker 1: that fell just past her shoulders and a spray of
[1:48] Speaker 1: freckles across her nose that she secretly loved. She had
[1:53] Speaker 1: been coming to this beach every summer since she was
[1:57] Speaker 1: three years old, and she thought she knew every rock,
[2:03] Speaker 1: every tidepool, and every shell. But to night something was different.
[2:10] Speaker 1: Coral had spent the whole day building a sand castle
[2:14] Speaker 1: with her younger brother Milo. It had three towers and
[2:19] Speaker 1: a moat that almost worked until a sneaky wave snuck
[2:25] Speaker 1: in and flooded the whole thing. Milo had laughed so
[2:31] Speaker 1: hard he fell over, and Coral had laughed too, even
[2:36] Speaker 1: though she had spent an hour shaping the towers just right.
[2:41] Speaker 1: That was the thing about the beach, Even when things
[2:44] Speaker 1: did not go the way you planned, it was still wonderful. Now,
[2:51] Speaker 1: Mila was back at the beach house, taking a bath
[2:54] Speaker 1: and getting ready for bed. Coral had asked her mom
[2:59] Speaker 1: if she could walk down to the shore by herself,
[3:03] Speaker 1: just for a little while. Her mom had looked out
[3:06] Speaker 1: the window, seen how close the beach house was to
[3:10] Speaker 1: the water and said yes. Ten minutes her mom called out.
[3:17] Speaker 1: Coral had promised, but Coral had a feeling to night
[3:22] Speaker 1: might be one of those nights where ten minutes turned
[3:27] Speaker 1: into something much bigger. As she walked along the water line,
[3:33] Speaker 1: letting the foam lap at her ankles, she noticed the
[3:37] Speaker 1: beach was quieter than usual. The seagulls had settled into
[3:42] Speaker 1: their nests on the rocks. The fishing boats were already docked,
[3:49] Speaker 1: their lights twinkling like little stars on the water. There
[3:54] Speaker 1: was no one else around, just the soft rhythm of
[3:58] Speaker 1: the waves and the distant hum of a ship's engine
[4:03] Speaker 1: far out at sea. She knelt down to pick up
[4:07] Speaker 1: a particularly smooth piece of drift wood, running her thumb
[4:12] Speaker 1: along its surface, it felt like silk. She held it
[4:18] Speaker 1: up to the fading light and noticed it was shaped
[4:22] Speaker 1: almost like a bird, with a long neck and a
[4:26] Speaker 1: tiny head. That was when she heard it. It was faint,
[4:31] Speaker 1: so faint she almost thought she had imagined it. A
[4:36] Speaker 1: sound like whispering, carried on the warm evening breeze. She
[4:42] Speaker 1: looked around, but there was no one else on the beach.
[4:46] Speaker 1: The lifeguard tower was empty, its red flag hanging limp
[4:51] Speaker 1: in the still air. The boardwalk was quiet, the ice
[4:56] Speaker 1: cream shop closed for the night. It was just core,
[5:01] Speaker 1: the waves and that strange, soft sound. She held her
[5:06] Speaker 1: breath and listened again. The sound was definitely there. It
[5:14] Speaker 1: was coming from further down the beach, past the big
[5:19] Speaker 1: rock that the locals called whaleback because it looked like
[5:25] Speaker 1: a whale's tail sticking out of the sand. Coral hesitated
[5:31] Speaker 1: for a moment. Her mom had said ten minutes, but
[5:37] Speaker 1: the sound was so beautiful, so unlike anything she had
[5:42] Speaker 1: ever heard, that her feet started moving before her brain
[5:48] Speaker 1: could argue. She followed the sound down the shoreline, stepping
[5:53] Speaker 1: carefully over pebbles and clumps of seaweed that glowed faintly
[5:59] Speaker 1: in the twilight. The sound grew louder with each step,
[6:05] Speaker 1: and soon she realized it was not just one voice.
[6:10] Speaker 1: It was many voices, all humming together in a gentle,
[6:15] Speaker 1: swaying melody. It reminded her of the lullaby her grandmother
[6:20] Speaker 1: used to sing, the one about the moon and the
[6:24] Speaker 1: silver fish that danced beneath the waves. Coral followed the
[6:29] Speaker 1: melody to a small cove she had never noticed before.
[6:34] Speaker 1: It was tucked between two large rocks, hidden by a
[6:39] Speaker 1: curtain of hanging sea moss that sparkled with tiny droplets
[6:44] Speaker 1: of ocean spray. A narrow path of smooth stones led
[6:50] Speaker 1: into the cove, and as Coral stepped over them, she
[6:54] Speaker 1: felt the air change. It was cooler here, and it
[7:00] Speaker 1: smelled like salt and something sweet, like flowers that bloomed
[7:05] Speaker 1: only at night. Inside the cove, hundreds of seashells lay
[7:10] Speaker 1: scattered across the sand, and every single one of them
[7:15] Speaker 1: was singing. Not singing like a person sings with words
[7:20] Speaker 1: and verses. No, these seashells hummed. They vibrated with a soft,
[7:28] Speaker 1: warm tone, each one a slightly different pitch. Together they
[7:35] Speaker 1: formed a harmony that made Coral's heart feel light and
[7:39] Speaker 1: full at the same time. It was like being wrapped
[7:44] Speaker 1: in a blanket made of sound. She melt down and
[7:48] Speaker 1: carefully picked up a small spiral shell. It was pink
[7:54] Speaker 1: and white, with tiny ridges that felt like miniature hills
[7:59] Speaker 1: under her finger tips. As she held it to her ear,
[8:04] Speaker 1: the humming became clearer. She could almost make out words,
[8:10] Speaker 1: like the shell was trying to tell her something important,
[8:14] Speaker 1: but did not quite know the language. Hello, Cora whispered,
[8:19] Speaker 1: feeling a little silly talking to a shell. The shell
[8:23] Speaker 1: hummed a little louder, as if in answer. Now Coral
[8:29] Speaker 1: was not the kind of girl who was easily frightened.
[8:33] Speaker 1: She had once found a spider in her sleeping bag
[8:37] Speaker 1: and simply scooped it up and set it outside without screaming.
[8:42] Speaker 1: She had caught fireflies in a jar and watched them
[8:46] Speaker 1: glow all night long, then set them free at dawn.
[8:52] Speaker 1: She had climbed the tallest tree in her grandmother's back yard,
[8:56] Speaker 1: even though her brother said she could not. She was
[9:00] Speaker 1: in the quiet, steady way that some children are. But this,
[9:07] Speaker 1: this was different. This was magical. She sat down in
[9:12] Speaker 1: the sand, crossing her legs and holding the shell in
[9:17] Speaker 1: both hands. The other shells continued their humming, and slowly
[9:26] Speaker 1: Coral began to understand something incredible. The melody was not random.
[9:35] Speaker 1: It told a story. It was the story of the
[9:39] Speaker 1: ocean itself, of waves that had traveled thousands of miles
[9:45] Speaker 1: across open water, of ships that had sailed under starlight
[9:51] Speaker 1: with their sails full of wind, a fish that had
[9:56] Speaker 1: danced through colorful coral reefs, and whales that had sung
[10:02] Speaker 1: to their babies in the deep blue dark. The shells
[10:07] Speaker 1: were memory keepers. They held the sounds of everything the
[10:12] Speaker 1: ocean had ever heard, and they played it back in
[10:17] Speaker 1: the quiet places where only some one very special could listen.
[10:22] Speaker 1: Coral closed her eyes and let the music wash over her.
[10:28] Speaker 1: She saw images in her mind, like pictures painted by
[10:33] Speaker 1: the sound itself. She saw a sea turtle gliding through
[10:37] Speaker 1: an underwater garden. She saw a pod of dolphins leaping
[10:42] Speaker 1: through the spray of a crashing wave. She saw a
[10:46] Speaker 1: lighthouse standing tall and proud on a rocky cliff, its
[10:51] Speaker 1: light cutting through the fog to guide ship safely home.
[10:55] Speaker 1: She saw her grandmother, too young and laughing, standing on
[11:01] Speaker 1: this very same beach with her toes in the sand,
[11:06] Speaker 1: listening to the same ocean that Coral was listening to now.
[11:13] Speaker 1: The shell hummed a little differently when it showed her grandmother,
[11:18] Speaker 1: a little warmer, a little softer, as if it knew
[11:23] Speaker 1: that this memory was extra precious. A tear slid down
[11:28] Speaker 1: Coral's cheek, but it was a happy tear, the kind
[11:33] Speaker 1: that comes when your heart is so full of good
[11:36] Speaker 1: feelings that it has to let some out. She sat
[11:40] Speaker 1: in the cove for a long time. The sky turned
[11:45] Speaker 1: from orange to purple to deep starry blue. The first
[11:51] Speaker 1: stars appeared, twinkling like diamonds scattered on velvet, and through
[11:58] Speaker 1: it all the shells kept singing. Their ocean lullaby. As
[12:02] Speaker 1: the night grew darker, Coral noticed something else. The shells
[12:08] Speaker 1: were humming a little softer now, like they were winding down,
[12:14] Speaker 1: like a music box reaching the end of its song.
[12:19] Speaker 1: She understood the ocean was getting sleepy, and so were
[12:25] Speaker 1: the shells. She gently placed the spiral shell back on
[12:29] Speaker 1: the sand, right where she had found it. Thank you,
[12:36] Speaker 1: she whispered, I will come back tomorrow. The shells hummed
[12:42] Speaker 1: one last sweet note that hung in the air like
[12:45] Speaker 1: a soap bubble, shimmering and perfect, and then the cove
[12:52] Speaker 1: was quiet, just the soft soush of the waves and
[12:57] Speaker 1: the distant call of a night bird somewhere in the dunes.
[13:00] Speaker 1: Coral stood up, brushed the sand off her knees, and
[13:04] Speaker 1: walked back up the beach. The moon was out now,
[13:10] Speaker 1: a big silver disk hanging over the water, and it
[13:14] Speaker 1: painted a shimmering path across the waves. She walked along
[13:20] Speaker 1: that moonlit path, her feet leaving soft prints in the
[13:24] Speaker 1: wet sand that the tide would soon erase. She did
[13:28] Speaker 1: not tell anyone about the singing seashells, not yet. Some
[13:35] Speaker 1: secrets are too beautiful to share right away. They need
[13:40] Speaker 1: to be held close, like a warm coal in your
[13:45] Speaker 1: hands until the time is right. When she got back
[13:50] Speaker 1: to the beach house, her mom was waiting at the
[13:53] Speaker 1: door with that look that meant she was both relieved
[13:57] Speaker 1: and a little annoyed. You were gone twenty minutes. Her
[14:02] Speaker 1: mom said, I know, I am sorry, Coral said, and
[14:08] Speaker 1: she was sorry, but she also was not sorry at all,
[14:14] Speaker 1: because some things are worth getting in a little trouble for.
[14:19] Speaker 1: That night, as she lay in her bed, with the
[14:22] Speaker 1: windows open and the salt breeze drifting in, Coral could
[14:28] Speaker 1: still hear the malady. It played softly in her mind,
[14:33] Speaker 1: a gentle hum that made her eyelids feel heavy and
[14:37] Speaker 1: her breath slow and steady. She thought about the memory shells,
[14:44] Speaker 1: the sea turtles and dolphins and whales, and her grandmother
[14:49] Speaker 1: standing on the beach long ago. She smiled, pulled the
[14:54] Speaker 1: blanket up to her chin, and drifted off to sleep.
[14:59] Speaker 1: And somewhere far away, in a small cove between two rocks,
[15:05] Speaker 1: the seashells hummed their lullabi to the moon, waiting for
[15:09] Speaker 1: Coral to come back and listen again. And that, my friends,
[15:14] Speaker 1: is the end of tonight's story. But here is a
[15:18] Speaker 1: little something to think about as you close your eyes, tonight.
[15:23] Speaker 1: Sometimes the most magical things in the world are not
[15:28] Speaker 1: hiding in faraway lands or inside fairy tale books. They
[15:34] Speaker 1: are right under our noses, in places we think we
[15:39] Speaker 1: already know. All we have to do is slow down,
[15:45] Speaker 1: pay attention, and listen. You never know what beautiful secrets
[15:51] Speaker 1: the world might chair with you if you just take
[15:55] Speaker 1: a moment to be still. Now, I hope you are
[15:59] Speaker 1: feeling cosy and warm. If you enjoy tonight's story, do
[16:06] Speaker 1: not forget to subscribe and leave a review. And if
[16:11] Speaker 1: you have a friend who might enjoy hearing about Coral
[16:15] Speaker 1: and the Singing Seashells, share the show with them. Until
[16:21] Speaker 1: next time, sweet dreams, good night,
