[0:00] Speaker 1: Spiral, the snail and the kindness Trail. In a cozy
[0:04] Speaker 1: garden behind a little white house, there lived a tiny
[0:08] Speaker 1: snail named Spiral. Spiral had a shell that swirled like
[0:13] Speaker 1: a lollipop, with golden brown stripes that caught the morning sunlight.
[0:19] Speaker 1: He was not the fastest creature in the garden. He
[0:22] Speaker 1: was not the biggest either, But Spiral had something very special.
[0:27] Speaker 1: He had the kindest heart in the whole entire garden.
[0:31] Speaker 1: Every morning, Spiral would slide out from under his favorite
[0:35] Speaker 1: lettuce leaf and set off on his daily adventure. He
[0:39] Speaker 1: left a shimmering trail of slime behind him wherever he went,
[0:43] Speaker 1: and the other garden creatures liked to say that Spiral's
[0:45] Speaker 1: trail sparkled like silver thread in the dew. One sunny morning,
[0:51] Speaker 1: Spiral heard a tiny sobbing sound coming from behind the
[0:54] Speaker 1: old stone wall. He slowly slid over to investigate and
[0:59] Speaker 1: found a little aunt named Pip. Pip was sitting beside
[1:03] Speaker 1: a crumb of bread that was three times bigger than
[1:06] Speaker 1: he was. What is wrong, Pip asked Spiral gently. I
[1:12] Speaker 1: promised my queen I would bring home food for the
[1:15] Speaker 1: whole colony today. Pip sniffled, But this crumb is so heavy,
[1:21] Speaker 1: and I have such a long way to carry it.
[1:24] Speaker 1: I have been trying for hours, and I barely moved
[1:28] Speaker 1: it an inch. Spiral looked at the enormous crumb. Then
[1:33] Speaker 1: he looked at his own smooth, flat shell. He had
[1:37] Speaker 1: an idea climb on top of the crumb and roll
[1:41] Speaker 1: it onto my shell. Spiral said, with a smile, I
[1:45] Speaker 1: will carry it for you. Pip's eyes went wide. Really
[1:51] Speaker 1: you would do that for me, of course, said Spiral.
[1:56] Speaker 1: That is what neighbors are for. Sould the crumb onto
[2:01] Speaker 1: Spiral's shell, and together they set off toward the ant hill.
[2:05] Speaker 1: Spiral moved slowly, as snails do, but he was steady
[2:09] Speaker 1: and careful. The crumb did not wobble once. When they
[2:14] Speaker 1: arrived at the ant hill, the whole colony cheered. Pip's
[2:18] Speaker 1: queam bowed her antennae and said, Spiral, you are a
[2:23] Speaker 1: true friend to ants everywhere. Spiral felt a warm glow
[2:27] Speaker 1: in his heart, and he continued on his way. Later
[2:32] Speaker 1: that afternoon, Spiral found a young ladybug named Dot sitting
[2:36] Speaker 1: on a dandelion stem. Dot looked worried. Her tiny red
[2:41] Speaker 1: wings were folded tight against her back. What is the matter, Dot,
[2:46] Speaker 1: Spiral asked. I need to get to the other side
[2:50] Speaker 1: of the puddle to visit my grandmother. Dot explained, but
[2:54] Speaker 1: I cannot fly yet, and the puddle is too wide
[2:57] Speaker 1: for me to walk across. Spiral looked at the puddle.
[3:01] Speaker 1: It was only a few inches wide, but to a
[3:03] Speaker 1: tiny ladybug, it might as well have been an ocean.
[3:07] Speaker 1: Wait right here, Spiral said. He slid around the garden
[3:11] Speaker 1: until he found a long, flat stick. He pushed and
[3:16] Speaker 1: pushed until one end of the stick rested on one
[3:19] Speaker 1: side of the puddle and the other end landed on
[3:21] Speaker 1: the opposite side. It was a bridge. Dot clapped her
[3:26] Speaker 1: little legs together with delight, Spiral, you are brilliant. She
[3:31] Speaker 1: scurried across the stick bridge and waved goodbye. Thank you
[3:35] Speaker 1: so much. You are welcome, Spiral called after her. The
[3:40] Speaker 1: warm glow in his heart grew even bigger. As the
[3:44] Speaker 1: afternoon turned to golden evening, Spiral met a young caterpillar
[3:48] Speaker 1: named Fern. Fern was hanging upside down from a branch,
[3:52] Speaker 1: wrapped in a thin silk blanket. She looked frightened, Spiral,
[3:58] Speaker 1: I am scared. Fern whispered, Tomorrow I will become a chrysalis,
[4:05] Speaker 1: and then I will change into a butterfly. What if
[4:09] Speaker 1: I forget how to crawl? What if my wings do
[4:12] Speaker 1: not work? What if I am a terrible butterfly. Spiral
[4:18] Speaker 1: looked up at Fern with his gentle brown eyes. Fern,
[4:23] Speaker 1: he said, softly, do you know what I leave behind
[4:27] Speaker 1: me everywhere I go? Fern shook her head. A trail,
[4:33] Speaker 1: Spiral said, A long, shiny trail. And even though it
[4:38] Speaker 1: looks like I leave something behind, I am always moving forward.
[4:43] Speaker 1: Change is not something to fear. It is just your
[4:46] Speaker 1: trail leading you somewhere new and wonderful. Fern thought about
[4:51] Speaker 1: this for a moment, then she smiled, you are right, Spiral.
[4:57] Speaker 1: I have been so worried about changing that I forgot
[5:00] Speaker 1: to be excited about it. Thank you for reminding me
[5:05] Speaker 1: any time, Spiral said with a wink. That night, as
[5:09] Speaker 1: the stars came out and the garden grew quiet, Spiral
[5:13] Speaker 1: slid back to his lettuce leaf. He curled up inside
[5:16] Speaker 1: his shell and looked up at the moon. He thought
[5:20] Speaker 1: about Pip and the crumb dot and the puddle, and
[5:25] Speaker 1: Fern and her brave new future. The warm glow in
[5:29] Speaker 1: his heart was so big now that it felt like
[5:32] Speaker 1: a little sun shining inside him, you know. Spiral whispered
[5:37] Speaker 1: to the moon. I may be the slowest creature in
[5:41] Speaker 1: the garden, but to day I learned something wonderful. Kindness
[5:48] Speaker 1: does not have to be big or fast. It just
[5:52] Speaker 1: has to be real. The moon seemed to smile down
[5:56] Speaker 1: at him, and the stars twinkled in agreement. And from
[6:00] Speaker 1: that night on, whenever the garden creatures saw Spiral silver
[6:04] Speaker 1: trails sparkling in the morning dew, they would say, that
[6:09] Speaker 1: is the kindness trail. Follow it and you will find
[6:12] Speaker 1: a friend. The end
