[1:10] Speaker 1: Now tonight, I have a very special story for you.
[1:15] Speaker 1: It is about a tiny firefly named Iris and a
[1:20] Speaker 1: magical pond that held something precious inside its shimmering waters.
[1:26] Speaker 1: Are you ready? Let us begin In a quiet little
[1:31] Speaker 1: meadow at the edge of whispering woods, where the grass
[1:35] Speaker 1: grew soft as cotton, and the flowers closed their petals
[1:40] Speaker 1: each evening to rest. There lived a tiny firefly named Iris.
[1:47] Speaker 1: Iris was not like the other fireflies in the meadow.
[1:52] Speaker 1: While most fireflies flashed their lights and quick bright bursts
[1:56] Speaker 1: to signal to one another, Iris to hold her glow
[2:01] Speaker 1: for a long long time. She would float above the
[2:05] Speaker 1: tall grass and keep her little golden light burning steadily,
[2:11] Speaker 1: as if she were a tiny lantern hanging from the sky.
[2:14] Speaker 1: You are wasting your light, Iris, said her friend Bramble
[2:19] Speaker 1: the Beetle, one evening, crawling along a dandelion stem. A
[2:25] Speaker 1: firefly is supposed to flash, not glow forever. You will
[2:30] Speaker 1: run out. But Iris never ran out. Her light was
[2:35] Speaker 1: a special kind of light. It was not bright or
[2:40] Speaker 1: flashy like the others. It was warm and steady, like
[2:46] Speaker 1: the glow of a candle in a window on a
[2:49] Speaker 1: cold night, and it came from something deep inside her heart,
[2:57] Speaker 1: a place that never ran empty. Every evening, after the
[3:02] Speaker 1: sun slipped behind the hills and the moon began to rise,
[3:08] Speaker 1: Iris would fly along the winding path that led through
[3:12] Speaker 1: whispering woods. She loved the way the shadows stretched across
[3:19] Speaker 1: the forest floor like long, sleepy cats. She loved the
[3:25] Speaker 1: sound of crickets humming their lullabies. And she loved more
[3:32] Speaker 1: than anything, the tiny crystal pond that sat in a clearing,
[3:38] Speaker 1: surrounded by ferns. The Crystal Pond was no ordinary pond.
[3:44] Speaker 1: Its water was so clear that you could see every
[3:48] Speaker 1: pebble on the bottom, every tiny fish swimming in circles,
[3:55] Speaker 1: every bubble that drifted up to the surface. But what
[4:00] Speaker 1: made the pond truly magical was something else. Entirely, when
[4:06] Speaker 1: you looked into the water, you did not always see
[4:10] Speaker 1: your own reflection. Sometimes the pond showed you something else,
[4:16] Speaker 1: a memory, a happy one. Iris had discovered this by
[4:22] Speaker 1: accident one summer evening. She had been flying over the pond,
[4:28] Speaker 1: minding her own business when she happened to glance down.
[4:35] Speaker 1: Instead of seeing her own tiny firefly face staring back
[4:40] Speaker 1: at her, she saw a field of wild flowers bathed
[4:47] Speaker 1: in golden sunlight. She saw a little girl with braids,
[4:53] Speaker 1: picking daisies and laughing. She saw a boy chasing a
[4:59] Speaker 1: bu butterfly through the grass, his bare feet kicking up
[5:05] Speaker 1: little puffs of dust. These were not Iris's memories. They
[5:10] Speaker 1: belonged to someone else, and the Crystal Pond had captured them,
[5:17] Speaker 1: holding them in its waters like treasures tucked into a
[5:21] Speaker 1: jewelry box. From that night on, Iris visited the Crystal pond.
[5:27] Speaker 1: Every evening she would hover just above the surface, her
[5:35] Speaker 1: steady golden glow reflecting softly on the water, and she
[5:41] Speaker 1: would watch the memories that appeared. She saw a grandmother
[5:46] Speaker 1: teaching her granddaughter how to bake cookies in a warm
[5:51] Speaker 1: kitchen that smelled like cinnamon and sugar. She saw two
[5:57] Speaker 1: brothers building a sand castle on a beach, their tongues
[6:02] Speaker 1: poking out with concentration as they patted the wet sand
[6:07] Speaker 1: into towers. She saw a mother reading a bedtime story
[6:13] Speaker 1: to her child, their faces close together, the pages of
[6:19] Speaker 1: the book glowing in the lamplight. Each memory was gentle
[6:24] Speaker 1: and sweet, and each one made Iris feel warm inside,
[6:30] Speaker 1: as if someone had wrapped a tiny blanket around her heart.
[6:35] Speaker 1: But one evening, something strange happened. Iris flew to the
[6:41] Speaker 1: crystal pond at her usual time, but the water was
[6:46] Speaker 1: still not a ripple, not a shimmer. The pond was dark,
[6:54] Speaker 1: like a mirror that had turned its face away from
[6:57] Speaker 1: the world. Iris hovered close and peered down. She saw
[7:02] Speaker 1: only her own reflection staring back at her with wide,
[7:07] Speaker 1: confused eyes. Her little glow flickered uncertainly. Where are the memories?
[7:15] Speaker 1: She whispered, The pond said nothing. Of course, ponds do
[7:22] Speaker 1: not speak, even magical ones. But Iris felt something, a
[7:28] Speaker 1: quiet sadness in the air, as if the pond itself
[7:32] Speaker 1: were tired. She flew around the clearing looking for answers.
[7:38] Speaker 1: She asked the ferns if they knew what was wrong.
[7:43] Speaker 1: The ferns swayed gently, but did not answer. She asked
[7:48] Speaker 1: the owl perched on the old oak tree. The owl
[7:53] Speaker 1: blinked his round golden eyes and said, some things must
[8:00] Speaker 1: given before they can be received. Perhaps the pond is
[8:06] Speaker 1: waiting waiting for what, asked Iris. The owl ruffled his
[8:12] Speaker 1: feathers and closed his eyes. That he said is for
[8:18] Speaker 1: you to discover. Iris flew back to the pond and
[8:23] Speaker 1: hovered there for a long time thinking. She thought about
[8:28] Speaker 1: all the lovely memories she had seen. The wild flowers,
[8:35] Speaker 1: the sand castle, the bedtime story. Every single one was
[8:42] Speaker 1: a moment of happiness that some one had lived and
[8:46] Speaker 1: then left behind like footprints in the sand. And then
[8:52] Speaker 1: Ibris understood the crystal pond did not make memories. It
[8:58] Speaker 1: collected them. It held the happy moments that people left behind,
[9:05] Speaker 1: like a cup catching raindrops. But the cup was empty now.
[9:12] Speaker 1: There were no new memories to show because no one
[9:17] Speaker 1: had brought any. Iris looked down at her own tiny
[9:20] Speaker 1: reflection and thought about what she could do. She was small,
[9:27] Speaker 1: she was just a firefly. What kind of happy moment
[9:32] Speaker 1: could she possibly create? But then she remembered something Bramble
[9:37] Speaker 1: had told her. She wasted her light by holding it
[9:41] Speaker 1: too long, and maybe he was right in a way.
[9:46] Speaker 1: Maybe her light was not meant to be hoarded or saved.
[9:51] Speaker 1: Maybe it was meant to be shared. So Iris made
[9:55] Speaker 1: a decision. She flew to the meadow where the other
[9:59] Speaker 1: firefly were playing their flashing games in the dark. She
[10:05] Speaker 1: flew right into the middle of them, and for the
[10:09] Speaker 1: first time in her life, she did something different. Instead
[10:15] Speaker 1: of holding her light steady, she did something wonderful. She
[10:20] Speaker 1: began to glow in rhythm with the others. But her
[10:25] Speaker 1: glow was different. It was warm and golden and soft,
[10:32] Speaker 1: and it painted everything it touched with a gentle light.
[10:38] Speaker 1: The grass looked golden, the flowers looked golden. The faces
[10:44] Speaker 1: of all the other fireflies looked golden. Look, cried a
[10:49] Speaker 1: tiny firefly named Dot, Look at the light. It is
[10:54] Speaker 1: so lovely. All the fireflies stopped their quick flashing and
[11:00] Speaker 1: gathered around Iris, and together they began to glow together.
[11:09] Speaker 1: Some flashed, some held their light, and Iris wove through them,
[11:16] Speaker 1: all her steady glow, connecting them like threads in a
[11:22] Speaker 1: blanket of light. The meadow was transformed. It became a
[11:29] Speaker 1: garden of floating lanterns, a constellation brought down to Earth.
[11:37] Speaker 1: The moon peered through the clouds to watch, and even
[11:42] Speaker 1: the stars seemed to lean closer, curious about the magic
[11:47] Speaker 1: happening below. And then Iris heard it, a sound like
[11:53] Speaker 1: a sigh, soft and happy. She flew back to the
[11:58] Speaker 1: crystal pond and looked down. The water was shimmering again.
[12:04] Speaker 1: This time the memory that floated in the pond was
[12:08] Speaker 1: one Iris recognized. She saw a field full of fire
[12:14] Speaker 1: flies glowing together in a warm, golden display. She saw
[12:21] Speaker 1: the grass, the flowers, the moon watching from above. She
[12:28] Speaker 1: saw herself, tiny Iris, leading the dance of light. It
[12:34] Speaker 1: was a memory of this fairy moment, a happy moment
[12:41] Speaker 1: created right now by Iris and all her friends together.
[12:47] Speaker 1: Iris understood at last the crystal pond was full again,
[12:53] Speaker 1: not because some one else had brought a memory to
[12:56] Speaker 1: leave behind. It was full because Iris had gone out
[13:02] Speaker 1: and made a new one. She had shared her light,
[13:07] Speaker 1: and in sharing it, she had created something wonderful that
[13:12] Speaker 1: the pond could hold forever. From that night on, Iris
[13:16] Speaker 1: did something different every evening. On Monday, she led the
[13:22] Speaker 1: fireflies in a glowing parade through the woods. On Tuesday,
[13:28] Speaker 1: she flew to the pond and showed the other insects
[13:32] Speaker 1: the sparkling memories hidden in the water. On Wednesday, she
[13:37] Speaker 1: helped a lost ladybug find her way home by lighting
[13:41] Speaker 1: the path. On Thursday, she gathered all the fireflies together
[13:47] Speaker 1: to create a light show for the baby rabbits who
[13:50] Speaker 1: could not sleep. On Friday, she sat with old mister
[13:55] Speaker 1: Toad on his lily pad and shared her glow while
[13:59] Speaker 1: he told stories about the old days. And every night
[14:04] Speaker 1: Iris visited the crystal pond, and every night there was
[14:09] Speaker 1: a new memory to see, sparkling in the water like
[14:13] Speaker 1: a jewel. The pond was never dark again. The other
[14:19] Speaker 1: fireflies learned from Iris too, They stopped worrying about saving
[14:25] Speaker 1: their light and started sharing it. They lit the path
[14:30] Speaker 1: for beetles walking home in the dark. They glowed above
[14:35] Speaker 1: the baby birds in the nest to keep them warm.
[14:40] Speaker 1: They created little constellations in the garden, so the children
[14:45] Speaker 1: who lived in the cottage nearby could look out their
[14:49] Speaker 1: window and see a sky full of tiny, dancing lights.
[14:54] Speaker 1: And the children loved it. They would press their noses
[14:59] Speaker 1: to the glass and whisper, look, mamma, the fireflies are
[15:05] Speaker 1: putting on a show. And their mothers would smile and say,
[15:11] Speaker 1: that is Iris and her friends. They light up the
[15:16] Speaker 1: whole meadow. Iris learned something important that summer. She learned
[15:22] Speaker 1: that a light shared is not a light lost. When
[15:27] Speaker 1: you give your warmth to someone else, it does not
[15:30] Speaker 1: make you cold, it makes you brighter. And when you
[15:35] Speaker 1: create a happy moment for someone else, you create a
[15:40] Speaker 1: memory that the crystal pond can hold forever, a treasure
[15:46] Speaker 1: that belongs to everyone and no one at the same time.
[15:50] Speaker 1: And so little firefly Iris flew on through the summer nights,
[15:57] Speaker 1: her steady golden glow, lighting up the meadow, the woods,
[16:02] Speaker 1: the pond, and the hearts of everyone who saw her.
[16:08] Speaker 1: And if you visit Whispering Woods on a quiet summer
[16:12] Speaker 1: evening and you look very carefully at the crystal pond
[16:17] Speaker 1: in the fern clearing, you might just see a memory
[16:22] Speaker 1: of your own reflected in the water. A happy one,
[16:26] Speaker 1: a moment you lived and loved and left behind for
[16:31] Speaker 1: the pond to keep. And if you do not see
[16:35] Speaker 1: anything tonight, that is okay too, because maybe the pond
[16:42] Speaker 1: is waiting for you to go and create something wonderful
[16:48] Speaker 1: that it can hold. The lesson of Iris is simple.
[16:54] Speaker 1: Share your light and you will never run out. Every
[17:00] Speaker 1: kind word, every helping hand, every moment of joy you
[17:07] Speaker 1: give to someone else becomes a memory that lives on forever,
[17:15] Speaker 1: shining in the crystal pond of the world. Now it
[17:20] Speaker 1: is time to say good bye for tonight. I hope
[17:24] Speaker 1: you enjoyed the story of Iris and her magical Crystal Pond. Remember,
[17:32] Speaker 1: just like Iris, you have a special light inside you,
[17:37] Speaker 1: and the more you share it, the brighter the world becomes.
[17:42] Speaker 1: If you enjoy tonight's story, please subscribe, leave a review,
[17:48] Speaker 1: and share the show with a friend. It helps more
[17:52] Speaker 1: families find us, and it means the world to me.
[17:56] Speaker 1: Sweet dreams, everyone, I will see you next time right
[18:01] Speaker 1: here on Kids Bedtime Stories. Good Night,
