[0:04] Speaker 1: US Studios. Once upon a time, in a quiet forest,
[0:12] Speaker 1: filled with tall oak trees and soft green moss, there
[0:16] Speaker 1: lived a tiny mushroom named Pip. Pip was the smallest
[0:21] Speaker 1: mushroom in the entire forest. He grew right beside a
[0:26] Speaker 1: big old rock under the shade of a fern. At
[0:31] Speaker 1: most days, nobody even noticed he was there. I wish
[0:36] Speaker 1: I were bigger, Pip would say to himself, watching the
[0:40] Speaker 1: deer walk past without a glance. If I were taller,
[0:45] Speaker 1: maybe someone would stop and talk to me. One misty morning,
[0:50] Speaker 1: a little caterpillar named Maple came crawling along the forest floor.
[0:59] Speaker 1: She it was green with tiny yellow spots, and she
[1:04] Speaker 1: moved very very slowly. When she reached Pip, she stopped
[1:11] Speaker 1: and looked up. Hello, there, said Maple, you are the
[1:18] Speaker 1: prettiest little mushroom I have ever seen. Pip blinked at surprise.
[1:26] Speaker 1: Nobody had ever called him pretty before. Really, he asked,
[1:33] Speaker 1: But I am so small the deer do not even
[1:37] Speaker 1: see me, Maple laughed, a tiny sound like a leaf rustling.
[1:42] Speaker 1: That is because deer looks straight ahead. But I look
[1:47] Speaker 1: up from down here. You look like a little umbrella
[1:51] Speaker 1: keeping the moss dry. Pip felt a warm glow inside,
[1:57] Speaker 1: like sunshine after rain. Would you like to rest here
[2:02] Speaker 1: for a while, he asked, I would love to, said Maple.
[2:09] Speaker 1: I am on a very big journey, you see. I
[2:13] Speaker 1: am looking for the perfect leaf, the perfect leaf, Pip asked.
[2:21] Speaker 1: Pip felt a warm glow inside, like sunshine after rain.
[2:27] Speaker 1: Would you like to rest here for a while, he asked,
[2:31] Speaker 1: I would love to, said Maple. I am on a
[2:35] Speaker 1: very big journey, you see. I am looking for the
[2:38] Speaker 1: perfect leaf, the perfect leaf. Pip asked, yes, that every
[2:46] Speaker 1: caterpillar must find the perfect leaf before they can make
[2:51] Speaker 1: their cocoon. It has to be just the right size,
[2:56] Speaker 1: just the right green, and it must taste like sunshine
[2:59] Speaker 1: and rain drops mixed together. Maple's side. But I have
[3:05] Speaker 1: been searching for days and I cannot find it anywhere.
[3:10] Speaker 1: Pip thought about this. He had never been anywhere in
[3:15] Speaker 1: the forest. He had been growing in the same spot
[3:18] Speaker 1: his whole life, but Maple was his first real friend
[3:24] Speaker 1: and he wanted to help. Pip thought about this. He
[3:29] Speaker 1: had never been anywhere in the forest. He had been
[3:32] Speaker 1: growing in the same spot his whole life, but Maple
[3:37] Speaker 1: was his first real friend, and he wanted to help.
[3:41] Speaker 1: I may be small, said Pip, but I know every
[3:44] Speaker 1: leaf that grows near this rock. The fern above me
[3:47] Speaker 1: has leaves shaped like feathers. The moss below has leaves
[3:50] Speaker 1: so tiny you need a magnifying glass. And over there,
[3:54] Speaker 1: past that log, there is the bush with leaves their
[3:58] Speaker 1: turn red in autumn. Maple's eyes grew wide. You know
[4:04] Speaker 1: all of this, but you have never moved from this part.
[4:09] Speaker 1: I have had a lot of time to watch, Pip said,
[4:12] Speaker 1: with a shy smile. The forest comes to me. Birds
[4:17] Speaker 1: land on the fern, Beetles walk across the moss, Rabbits
[4:22] Speaker 1: hop past the log. I see everything from right here.
[4:27] Speaker 1: Maple was amazed. She had been rushing through the forest,
[4:33] Speaker 1: searching high and low, but she had never stopped to
[4:38] Speaker 1: simply look around. Maybe, she said slowly, I have been
[4:45] Speaker 1: looking too hard and seeing too little. That afternoon, Maple
[4:52] Speaker 1: stayed with Pip. Together they watched a ladybuck climb a
[4:57] Speaker 1: blade of grass. They listened to a woodpecker tapping on
[5:01] Speaker 1: a tree trunk. They felt the breeze carry the scent
[5:06] Speaker 1: of wild flowers from a meadow nearby. I never noticed
[5:11] Speaker 1: how beautiful this spot was Maple whispered. That is because
[5:16] Speaker 1: you were always moving, said Pip. Sometimes the best things
[5:21] Speaker 1: are found by staying still. The next morning, Maple woke
[5:26] Speaker 1: up and stretched Pip, I think I found my perfect
[5:31] Speaker 1: leaf where, Pip asked. Looking around, Maple crawled up the
[5:38] Speaker 1: fern and settled on a souce green front. Right here,
[5:43] Speaker 1: She said, it tastes like rain and smells like morning dew.
[5:48] Speaker 1: It is perfect. Pip beamed with pride. That is the
[5:53] Speaker 1: fern that has been growing over me since I was
[5:56] Speaker 1: a baby. I have been keeping it come all this time.
[6:02] Speaker 1: Maple smiled, and now it is keeping me company too.
[6:06] Speaker 1: Thank you, Pip. You may be small, but you have
[6:09] Speaker 1: the biggest start in this whole forest. Maple smiled, and
[6:14] Speaker 1: now it is keeping me company too. Thank you Pip.
[6:19] Speaker 1: You may be small, but you have the biggest heart
[6:22] Speaker 1: in this whole forest. A week later, Maple wrapped herself
[6:28] Speaker 1: in a beautiful cocoon, hanging gently from the found leaf.
[6:33] Speaker 1: Pip watched over her every day, keeping the mass damp
[6:37] Speaker 1: and the air cool. He talked to her even though
[6:41] Speaker 1: she could not hear him, telling her about the birds
[6:44] Speaker 1: and the beetles and the rabbits. Then one sunny morning,
[6:49] Speaker 1: the cocoon opened and out came the most beautiful butterfly.
[6:54] Speaker 1: Her wings were bright green with golden spots, and they
[6:58] Speaker 1: shimmered in the sunlight. Pip, she called out, look at me,
[7:05] Speaker 1: Pip gasped, Maple, you are beautiful. Maple flew down and
[7:13] Speaker 1: glanded gently on Pip's cap. I am beautiful because of you, Pip.
[7:22] Speaker 1: You taught me that you do not need to rush
[7:25] Speaker 1: through the world to find wonderful things. Sometimes you just
[7:33] Speaker 1: need a good friend and a quiet place to sit.
[7:38] Speaker 1: Mapel flew down and landed gently on Pip's cap. I
[7:43] Speaker 1: am beautiful because of you, Pip. You taught me that
[7:47] Speaker 1: you do not need to rush through the world to
[7:50] Speaker 1: find wonderful things. Sometimes you just need a good friend
[7:57] Speaker 1: and a quiet place to sit. From that day on,
[8:01] Speaker 1: Maple visited Pip. Every morning, she would fly far and
[8:07] Speaker 1: wide through the forest, seeing all the things Pip could
[8:12] Speaker 1: not see from his spot by the rock, And every
[8:16] Speaker 1: evening she would come back and tell him about her adventures,
[8:20] Speaker 1: and Pip would listen with wonder and joy. The other
[8:25] Speaker 1: mushrooms in the forest began to notice, how does Pip
[8:30] Speaker 1: know so much about the world, they asked each other.
[8:34] Speaker 1: He never moves, and Pip would smile and say, I
[8:39] Speaker 1: have a friend who sees the wild for me, and
[8:43] Speaker 1: I see the wild for her. That is what's friendship
[8:47] Speaker 1: is all about. And Pip would smile and say, I
[8:53] Speaker 1: have a friend who sees the world for me, and
[8:57] Speaker 1: I see the world for her. Is what friendship is
[9:01] Speaker 1: all about. The seasons changed, and the forest grew and
[9:08] Speaker 1: shifted around them. New mushrooms sprouted, caterpillars came and went,
[9:14] Speaker 1: but Pip and Maple stayed the best of friends. Pib
[9:18] Speaker 1: never grew any bigger, but he did not mind any more.
[9:22] Speaker 1: He had learned that the size of your heart matters
[9:25] Speaker 1: so much more than the size of your cap. And
[9:28] Speaker 1: if you ever walk through a quiet forest and see
[9:32] Speaker 1: a tiny mushroom beside a big old rock, take a
[9:36] Speaker 1: moment to stop and say hello, you might just find
[9:41] Speaker 1: the wisest little friend you have ever known. The end
