[0:08] Speaker 1: Welcome back, my darling. So far, Willa has visited Whisper
[0:13] Speaker 1: Willow Island and the Starlight Bakery.
[0:18] Speaker 2: Tonight, Lily tells the final stop of the voyage. The
[0:24] Speaker 2: quiet caves where the dark is friendly and something small
[0:29] Speaker 2: and silver is waiting to be found. Her striped paper
[0:35] Speaker 2: bag is full of dream buns, and her sailor's heart
[0:40] Speaker 2: is full of courage.
[0:43] Speaker 1: Hold Lily's hand. In you go. Before Lily begins, let
[0:50] Speaker 1: me remind you how far our sailor has come. On
[0:54] Speaker 1: the first night, Willa found a boat made of midnight
[0:58] Speaker 1: velvet waiting on her own front lawn, and a small
[1:02] Speaker 1: rabbit captain with a red ribbon who knew her name.
[1:06] Speaker 1: On the second night, she visited an island where even
[1:10] Speaker 1: the trees whisper and mantmother hush. who taught her that
[1:15] Speaker 1: quiet is not empty it is full of long soft
[1:19] Speaker 1: sounds if you listen then she sailed to a bakery
[1:23] Speaker 1: on a sugar-white beach where a hedgehog named brioche gave
[1:28] Speaker 1: her dream buns filled with starlight still warm from the
[1:33] Speaker 1: oven three dream buns to be exact one for now
[1:40] Speaker 1: one for the quiet caves and one for her pillow
[1:44] Speaker 1: when she gets home. Willa has been saving them because
[1:49] Speaker 1: a good sailor always keeps something warm in her pocket.
[1:54] Speaker 1: Tonight she will need the caves one. The quiet caves
[1:59] Speaker 1: are the deepest part of the sky sea, and the
[2:02] Speaker 1: dark down there is thicker than any night Willa has
[2:07] Speaker 1: ever known. But remember what Mother Hush taught her. Quiet
[2:13] Speaker 1: is not empty, and dark is not scary. Not when
[2:19] Speaker 1: you have a captain beside you, and a grandmother waiting
[2:24] Speaker 1: at home, and a storyteller holding your hand.
[2:33] Speaker 3: Now set Captain Nibbles for our third and final stop,
[2:40] Speaker 3: the Quiet Caves. Is it dark there? asked Willa in
[2:46] Speaker 3: a small voice. It's dark, said Captain Nibbles, but it
[2:52] Speaker 3: is a friendly dark, like being under your blanket with
[2:58] Speaker 3: a flashlight, like closing your eyes when someone you love
[3:04] Speaker 3: is near. You will see. The sky-sea grew calmer as
[3:11] Speaker 3: they sailed on, The ripples slowed. The star song grew softer. Hush, hush, hush,
[3:18] Speaker 3: little sailor, hush. The melon seemed to lean closer as
[3:22] Speaker 3: if it wanted to listen too. Ahead rose a tall
[3:27] Speaker 3: cliff of smooth gray stone. It shimmered faintly like the
[3:33] Speaker 3: inside of a shell. At its base sat three round
[3:37] Speaker 3: cave mouths. each one glowing with a soft silver light
[3:42] Speaker 3: from deep inside. The quiet caves, whispered Captain Nibbles. He
[3:49] Speaker 3: guided the moon boat into the middle cave. The water
[3:54] Speaker 3: here was perfectly still. It mirrored the cave roof like
[3:58] Speaker 3: a looking glass. Tiny glowing fish drifted beneath the hull,
[4:04] Speaker 3: leaving trails of silver light behind them. In the heart
[4:10] Speaker 3: of the cave stood a still round pool. Above it
[4:15] Speaker 3: hung long crystal points from the ceiling, dripping slow drops
[4:21] Speaker 3: of silver liquid. Plink, plink, plink. Each drop fell into
[4:28] Speaker 3: the pool with a sound like a tiny bell. Lose fat,
[4:34] Speaker 3: moan milk, birds kept in nibbles. The moon drips it
[4:39] Speaker 3: down for us. It is what dreams are made of.
[4:44] Speaker 3: Every night someone must gather it fresh and carry it
[4:48] Speaker 3: to the dream delivery owls. Tonight that someone is us.
[4:55] Speaker 3: He handed Willa a small silvery jar. Hold it under
[5:01] Speaker 3: a drip, he said very still, very patient. like waiting
[5:08] Speaker 3: for a bubble to pop. Willa held the jar under
[5:13] Speaker 3: the slowest drip. She waited. The drop grew bigger and rounder.
[5:20] Speaker 3: It sparkled in the crystal light. Then, plink, it fell
[5:26] Speaker 3: into the jar with the sweetest sound Willa had ever heard.
[5:31] Speaker 3: Whistling She filled the jar drop by drop. Plink, plink, plink.
[5:44] Speaker 3: It took a long time, but Willa did not mind.
[5:48] Speaker 3: The cave was so peaceful. The water was so still.
[5:54] Speaker 3: The glowing fish swam slow circles beneath the boat. Willa
[5:59] Speaker 3: felt calmer than she had ever felt in her whole life.
[6:05] Speaker 3: It's last. The jar was full. Captain Nibbles sealed it
[6:10] Speaker 3: with a cork and tied it with a blue ribbon. Perfect,
[6:15] Speaker 3: he said. The owls will be pleased. You are a
[6:20] Speaker 3: natural moon milk gatherer, Willa. Just then, a soft peeing
[6:26] Speaker 3: echo through the cave. Into the cave glided the biggest owl.
[6:32] Speaker 3: Soft as the wild willow had ever seen, her feathers
[6:36] Speaker 3: were silver-gray. Her eyes were large and kind. Around her
[6:42] Speaker 3: neck hung a leather satchel full of tiny bottles. Zin, Captain,
[6:49] Speaker 3: said the owl. Her voice was low and smooth, like
[6:57] Speaker 3: poor honey. And who is your helper tonight? this is
[7:03] Speaker 3: voila said captain nibble's first voyage gathered a full jar
[7:09] Speaker 3: without spilling a drop well done little one said the
[7:15] Speaker 3: owl she tucked the jar gently in one claw and
[7:19] Speaker 3: tucked it into her satchel i am postmistress hoot i
[7:25] Speaker 3: carry moon milk to every dreaming child in the world
[7:31] Speaker 3: One drop per dream. That is the rule. One drop
[7:36] Speaker 3: makes a whole night of dreams. So, drop does all that,
[7:43] Speaker 3: asked Willa. Dreams are powerful things, said Post Mistress Hoot.
[7:50] Speaker 3: She winked one large eye. And yours tonight, little sailor,
[7:56] Speaker 3: will be extra sweet. I will see to it myself.
[8:04] Speaker 3: She spread her great soft wings. The air in the
[8:08] Speaker 3: cave stirred gently like a page turning. Then she glided
[8:14] Speaker 3: out into the night, her satchel of man-mill glowing faintly
[8:20] Speaker 3: as she flew from star to star. Time to head home.
[8:26] Speaker 3: said Captain Nibbles gently. The moon is getting sleepy. See,
[8:31] Speaker 3: it is starting to yawn. Willow looked up. Sure enough,
[8:38] Speaker 3: the moon's smile had grown soft and drowsy. One or
[8:44] Speaker 3: two stars had already blinked out, tucking themselves away behind
[8:51] Speaker 3: thin clouds. They sailed out of the quiet caves. Captain
[8:59] Speaker 3: Nibbles turned the velvet moonboat toward home. The silver sail
[9:06] Speaker 3: caught the soft night wind. And they glided back across
[9:13] Speaker 3: the sleepy sky sea. Past Crumpcake Cove, past Whisper Willow Island,
[9:23] Speaker 3: all the way back toward Willow Street. Willow was very
[9:29] Speaker 3: sleepy now. Her eyelids felt heavy, like they had tiny
[9:35] Speaker 3: blankets on them. She finished the second dream bun in
[9:41] Speaker 3: small nibbles. She clutched the little moon grass basket from
[9:47] Speaker 3: Mother Hush, and she leaned her head against the velvet
[9:52] Speaker 3: side of the boat, which was just as soft as
[9:57] Speaker 3: her pillow. Captain Nibbles complained. her with the silver blanket.
[10:02] Speaker 3: He sank in her in his small bunny voice, a
[10:06] Speaker 3: song about sailing home. Sleep now, little sailor. The voyage
[10:11] Speaker 3: is done. The moon is your nightlight, the softest one.
[10:16] Speaker 3: dream buns and moon milk and whispers so deep the
[10:20] Speaker 3: whole sky is rocking. You gently to sleep. Willa smiled
[10:27] Speaker 3: in her sleep. The boat rocked. The ripples sang. Hush, hush. Hush,
[10:36] Speaker 3: little sailor, hush. When Willa opened her eyes again, The
[10:43] Speaker 3: velvet moon boat was settling onto her own front lawn,
[10:47] Speaker 3: soft as a snowflake landing. The sun was just thinking
[10:53] Speaker 3: about rising. The sky at the edges was turning pale
[10:58] Speaker 3: pink and gold. Birds were beginning to stretch and chirp
[11:04] Speaker 3: in the oak tree. We are home, whispered Captain Nipples.
[11:16] Speaker 1: The moonboat is almost home, my darling. I can see
[11:21] Speaker 1: your front lawn from here. Tomorrow night, the very last part.
[11:28] Speaker 1: The landing, the little brass bell, the goodbye that is
[11:33] Speaker 1: not really goodbye, and our tuck-in. Sleep now. We are
[11:38] Speaker 1: nearly there.
