[0:02] Speaker 1: Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, filled
[0:05] Speaker 1: with tall trees and soft whispering grass, lived two friends,
[0:10] Speaker 1: a hair and a tortoise. The hair was very fast.
[0:14] Speaker 1: He loved to run, jump, and skip. He was always busy,
[0:19] Speaker 1: always moving, and his nose was always twitching with energy.
[0:24] Speaker 1: The tortoise was very different. He was slow, steady, and calm.
[0:30] Speaker 1: He carried his cozy shell on his back everywhere he went.
[0:34] Speaker 1: He liked to take his time to smell the flowers
[0:37] Speaker 1: and feel the warm sun on his skin. Tonight we
[0:41] Speaker 1: are going to tell the story of their famous race.
[0:45] Speaker 1: But this was not a loud, fast race. It was
[0:48] Speaker 1: a journey to see who could find the most peaceful
[0:51] Speaker 1: path to the finish line. Chapter one, The Challenge. One
[0:58] Speaker 1: sunny morning, the hare was bouncing around a meadow of daisies.
[1:03] Speaker 1: He had so much energy that he could not stand still.
[1:07] Speaker 1: I am the fastest animal in the forest, said the hare.
[1:12] Speaker 1: I can run past the river and over the hill
[1:15] Speaker 1: before the sun sets. Nobody can beat me. The tortoise
[1:20] Speaker 1: smiled a slow, gentle smile. He blinked his eyes slowly.
[1:26] Speaker 1: Running is fun, said the tortoise, in a deep, calm voice,
[1:30] Speaker 1: But sometimes it is nice to go slowly. When you
[1:33] Speaker 1: go slowly, you see beautiful things. The hare laughed. Let
[1:39] Speaker 1: us have a race. We will race to the big
[1:42] Speaker 1: oak tree on the other side of the hill. The
[1:45] Speaker 1: first one there wins. The tortoise nodded his head slowly, okay,
[1:51] Speaker 1: he said, I accept. Slow and steady is a wonderful
[1:55] Speaker 1: way to travel. Chapter two, The Fast and the Slow, Oh,
[2:02] Speaker 1: the race began. The hair zoomed off instantly. His paws
[2:07] Speaker 1: drummed on the ground. He ran past the bushes and
[2:11] Speaker 1: the butterflies. He was moving so fast that everything was
[2:15] Speaker 1: a blur. The hair ran and ran until his legs
[2:19] Speaker 1: felt heavy and his breathing became fast. Far behind him,
[2:24] Speaker 1: the tortoise began his walk. He took one step, then another.
[2:29] Speaker 1: The tortoise was not in a rush. He felt the cool,
[2:33] Speaker 1: soft moss under his feet. He saw the sunlight filtering
[2:37] Speaker 1: through the leaves above. He took a deep breath of
[2:41] Speaker 1: fresh forest air. While the hair was tired from rushing,
[2:45] Speaker 1: the tortoise felt strong because he was pacing himself. He
[2:49] Speaker 1: walked with a steady rhythm. Step breathe, step breathe. It
[2:55] Speaker 1: was a relaxing dance. Chapter three a RESTful pause. Halfway
[3:02] Speaker 1: to the big oak tree, the hare looked back. He
[3:06] Speaker 1: could not see the tortoise anywhere. I am so far
[3:09] Speaker 1: ahead yond the hair. I am tired from all that running.
[3:14] Speaker 1: I think I will take a nap. The hair found
[3:17] Speaker 1: a patch of grass, but he was still restless. He
[3:22] Speaker 1: tossed and turned, dreaming of running fast. Meanwhile, the tortoise
[3:27] Speaker 1: kept moving. He did not stop, but he did not hurry.
[3:32] Speaker 1: He passed the sleeping hair quietly. The tortoise looked at
[3:36] Speaker 1: the hair and whispered, rest well, friend. The tortoise kept walking.
[3:42] Speaker 1: His heavy shell felt like a comforting hug. The rhythm
[3:46] Speaker 1: of his walking was like a lullaby. He was enjoying
[3:50] Speaker 1: every moment of his slow journey. Chapter four, The Peaceful Victory.
[3:57] Speaker 1: The sun began to set, paint the sky in shades
[4:01] Speaker 1: of purple and gold. The forest became quiet and sleepy.
[4:06] Speaker 1: The tortoise could see the big oak tree ahead. He
[4:09] Speaker 1: did not run, He just kept taking his slow, steady steps.
[4:15] Speaker 1: Finally he reached the tree. He touched the strong bark
[4:19] Speaker 1: with his foot. He had finished the race. Just then
[4:23] Speaker 1: the hare woke up. He saw the moon rising and
[4:27] Speaker 1: ran as fast as he could to the tree, but
[4:29] Speaker 1: when he arrived he saw the tortoise already there, resting
[4:33] Speaker 1: happily in the soft leaves. You won, said the hare,
[4:38] Speaker 1: breathing hard. But you are so slow. I am slow,
[4:43] Speaker 1: agreed the tortoise softly. But because I was calm, I
[4:47] Speaker 1: did not get tired. I enjoyed the walk, and now
[4:50] Speaker 1: I am ready for a wonderful sleep. The hare looked
[4:54] Speaker 1: at his friend. He realized that rushing had made him tired,
[4:58] Speaker 1: but going slowly had made the tortoise happy. The two
[5:02] Speaker 1: friends curled up under the big oak tree. The hair
[5:05] Speaker 1: relaxed his long ears. The tortoise pulled his head into
[5:09] Speaker 1: his cozy shell. Surrounded by the peaceful forest. They both
[5:14] Speaker 1: closed their eyes and drifted into a deep, steady sleep.
[5:18] Speaker 1: The end
