[0:04] Speaker 1: that I fell and I fell in love in this
[0:07] Speaker 1: game Love It First Sight. Her name is Candice. We
[0:10] Speaker 1: love you, I Love.
[0:11] Speaker 2: You Machine time Machine, time Machine, That time Machine, that
[0:23] Speaker 2: time Machine.
[0:24] Speaker 1: Get on to that.
[0:44] Speaker 3: Wow, what a song, Brandow, incredible record. This was my
[0:48] Speaker 3: first time listening to this. Yeah, I just want this
[0:50] Speaker 3: on the record.
[0:51] Speaker 4: We Chase's pole plan was to play some sort of
[0:55] Speaker 4: racist Jeff song every week.
[0:57] Speaker 3: Yeah, and we heard the first one, were like, hey,
[0:59] Speaker 3: cut that pivot.
[1:00] Speaker 4: Yeah, and so there's a time Machine song, Survivor Time Shine.
[1:05] Speaker 5: Yeah, excellent job. Welcome to Survivor Time Machine. My name
[1:09] Speaker 5: is Pete. I'm joined by Brandon, whose beautiful pipes you
[1:12] Speaker 5: just heard on this song, and by Chase Bridges, our
[1:15] Speaker 5: own Survivor history expert.
[1:17] Speaker 3: Today, I don't know about experts. Get a lot of
[1:19] Speaker 3: fun facts. I do have fun facts today.
[1:21] Speaker 6: But the most important thing that we have today is
[1:23] Speaker 6: the voice that we heard at the beginning of the intro.
[1:26] Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, we are.
[1:27] Speaker 6: Joined by former Survivor contestant from Cook Islands, Billy Gorcy.
[1:37] Speaker 1: He thank you for having me on.
[1:39] Speaker 4: Oh, it's gonna be good. It's gonna be good, and
[1:41] Speaker 4: we want an episode to bring you on. Episode two.
[1:43] Speaker 4: It's gonna be a fun one. Is your episode, dude,
[1:46] Speaker 4: this is Billy's episode. They should have called it Billy's episode.
[1:49] Speaker 7: Well, behind the scenes it did call it the Curse
[1:51] Speaker 7: of Billy the.
[1:55] Speaker 3: Billy Did we have a ton in common?
[1:57] Speaker 6: We're all big pro wrestling fans, trained on the on
[2:01] Speaker 6: the indies for several years.
[2:03] Speaker 3: You are a professional wrestler at least used to be right.
[2:06] Speaker 7: Yeah, for eleven years.
[2:07] Speaker 1: I was a professional wrestler trained under uh, the w
[2:11] Speaker 1: W Hall of Famer, the unpredictable Johnny Rods. He's the
[2:14] Speaker 1: guy who trained the Dudley Boys, Tobby Dreamer, Taz Yeah,
[2:21] Speaker 1: Matt Striker, you got that. Ecs a long list.
[2:24] Speaker 7: His first student was Rowdy Buddy.
[2:25] Speaker 3: Piper Dang dude.
[2:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot, basically a whole locker room.
[2:29] Speaker 3: Of w Yeah. Yeah.
[2:32] Speaker 6: I was trained by a guy named and we can
[2:34] Speaker 6: cut this because this just does having fun. I was
[2:37] Speaker 6: training you know, Chris Hamrick, Yeah yeah yeah, trained Vetterian Curtsey,
[2:41] Speaker 6: Yeah yeah yeah, another e c W guy and x
[2:45] Speaker 6: p W.
[2:46] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[2:46] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's gonna be a good episode. I can already sell,
[2:49] Speaker 4: I can already tell.
[2:50] Speaker 3: So where do where do we start with this episode?
[2:52] Speaker 5: At the beginning of the episode, say because I know
[2:56] Speaker 5: what we all want to talk about with Billy, But
[2:57] Speaker 5: I guess we gotta wait, We gotta wait a little bit.
[3:00] Speaker 3: Can we talk really.
[3:01] Speaker 4: Quick about a couple of things that came up in
[3:03] Speaker 4: episode one that we could perhaps get fact checked by
[3:07] Speaker 4: Billy himself?
[3:08] Speaker 6: Yeah, So basically, last episode we talked about the first
[3:11] Speaker 6: episode of cook Islands, and before we even got into
[3:13] Speaker 6: the episode, we talked about all of the controversy surrounding
[3:16] Speaker 6: what the season is, which I imagine you get asked
[3:19] Speaker 6: about all the time.
[3:21] Speaker 3: And one of the things that I brought up last.
[3:22] Speaker 6: Episode was I don't think that these guys were told
[3:25] Speaker 6: what was going on until they got there. And I
[3:28] Speaker 6: even said, I think Yole is not happy about the situation. Well,
[3:33] Speaker 6: turns out I did some research. Yoll was very very
[3:37] Speaker 6: strongly considering quitting. And can you tell us a little
[3:41] Speaker 6: bit about what was happening when you guys found out?
[3:43] Speaker 3: Did people quit? Do they want to quit?
[3:46] Speaker 1: We were told the night before and I used the
[3:49] Speaker 1: term night before loosely because It was actually hours before
[3:53] Speaker 1: we were told midnight. One by one we were taken
[3:57] Speaker 1: to a tent and told individually so that our reaction
[4:01] Speaker 1: wouldn't wouldn't have a negative effect on our game. And
[4:05] Speaker 1: the game began at six a m. So it was
[4:07] Speaker 1: literally six hours before Wow. And I told Jeff and
[4:12] Speaker 1: Mark Burnett, Hey, this is great for you guys. You
[4:15] Speaker 1: guys are gonna get huge ratings. This sucks for me
[4:18] Speaker 1: because I'm like the least Hispanic Hispanic. I know.
[4:22] Speaker 3: Yeah, there there was a quit. There was a quit.
[4:26] Speaker 7: There was a quit.
[4:27] Speaker 1: She was a w NBA player who was on the
[4:30] Speaker 1: African American tribe, and she said that she had spent
[4:35] Speaker 1: the h her whole career trying to get away from race.
[4:39] Speaker 1: She wasn't about to go walking right into the whole subject.
[4:43] Speaker 1: So Sundra, who was a Final four player, was the
[4:47] Speaker 1: was the was.
[4:48] Speaker 3: The ultimate dang dang dude. That's crazy. Good for her.
[4:52] Speaker 3: Good for her, I guess, good for her for standing
[4:54] Speaker 3: up for herself.
[4:55] Speaker 4: And one of the things, Chase that you found in
[4:57] Speaker 4: your research was that a lot of the players were
[5:00] Speaker 4: recruited this season versus you know, signing up and trying
[5:03] Speaker 4: to get on the show. What were you recruited or
[5:07] Speaker 4: were you somebody who auditioned? I can't remember.
[5:10] Speaker 1: I went to an open casting call at the Jacob
[5:12] Speaker 1: Javid Center, which is this huge place in New York City.
[5:15] Speaker 1: That's where Comic Con is held, so that's how big
[5:18] Speaker 1: it is. And they cut the line at five thousand
[5:22] Speaker 1: and the first time I went up. I actually went
[5:25] Speaker 1: up twice. The first time I went up, I knew
[5:27] Speaker 1: I blew it because the cameraman was shaking his head
[5:29] Speaker 1: no and rolling his eyes. And so I hung around
[5:34] Speaker 1: to take pictures with some of the former survivors that
[5:36] Speaker 1: were there at Judge Sargeant from Guatemala, he he you know,
[5:40] Speaker 1: he got real friendly with me and he lifted up
[5:43] Speaker 1: the rope and shoved me back in line. And former
[5:47] Speaker 1: Big Brother player Eric Kasha was the was the the
[5:51] Speaker 1: casting uh supervisor uh at the at that event, and
[5:56] Speaker 1: uh she caught me. So I was like, a crap,
[6:00] Speaker 1: this is gonna ruin me forever now. I won't be
[6:02] Speaker 1: able to come back even after this. So she pulled
[6:06] Speaker 1: me aside and she goes, so you really want to
[6:08] Speaker 1: be on Survivor, don't you?
[6:10] Speaker 7: And I was like, yeah, of course, and she gave me.
[6:14] Speaker 1: Basically a rundown of what I actually do in front
[6:17] Speaker 1: of that camera to get on Survivor. And she says
[6:22] Speaker 1: that these videos are basically your auditioning the confessionals which
[6:28] Speaker 1: narrate the show. And if you could give us your
[6:31] Speaker 1: life in a sound bite by taking your your life
[6:35] Speaker 1: and making it into bullet points and turning those bullet
[6:37] Speaker 1: points into a run on sentence, you basically passed the audition.
[6:42] Speaker 1: So I went up there and I said, I'm Billy Garcia,
[6:45] Speaker 1: a Dominican New Yorker, a heavy metal guitar playing pro wrestling,
[6:50] Speaker 1: former marine. And they loved it because they got my
[6:55] Speaker 1: whole story in that one sound bite, which is what
[6:58] Speaker 1: they wanted. They didn't have to ask, They didn't have
[7:00] Speaker 1: to ask any questions. They didn't have to ask what
[7:03] Speaker 1: kind of hispanic are you? Where in America are you from,
[7:06] Speaker 1: what kind of musician are you?
[7:08] Speaker 7: What instant you play? What kind of music?
[7:10] Speaker 1: They didn't have to ask all these questions, which is
[7:13] Speaker 1: how how you narrate the show. You basically got to
[7:16] Speaker 1: put whatever question they would ask to lead off your answer,
[7:20] Speaker 1: Like if they say, like, like, uh, the question is
[7:24] Speaker 1: why do you want to be on Survivor. You gotta
[7:26] Speaker 1: start with I wanted to be on Survivor because and
[7:30] Speaker 1: that's how you get on the show. You you narrate
[7:33] Speaker 1: your life.
[7:33] Speaker 7: In front of the camera, proving that you could narrate
[7:36] Speaker 7: the show.
[7:37] Speaker 3: Damn, that's awesome.
[7:38] Speaker 4: And did you do you know, the when you go
[7:41] Speaker 4: in there, you do your your video the casting and
[7:43] Speaker 4: all that stuff. Were they casting for cook Island specifically
[7:48] Speaker 4: or was it just well, we like you and we'll
[7:51] Speaker 4: end up putting you wherever makes sense in the future,
[7:54] Speaker 4: and Cook Island just happened to be where you landed.
[7:57] Speaker 1: Well, I believe Cook Islands was already announced, but not
[7:59] Speaker 1: the not the twist, just the location. And so so
[8:05] Speaker 1: we all knew the location of where we were going
[8:08] Speaker 1: and and and uh, we were all doing research on it.
[8:12] Speaker 1: Like in the l A Final fifty when I went,
[8:15] Speaker 1: it felt like everybody had a book on the Cook Islands,
[8:18] Speaker 1: like that's what that's what they their downtown was spent
[8:21] Speaker 1: on just reading the history of the Cook Islands. When
[8:25] Speaker 1: when Jeff Propes, Uh, when I got in front of
[8:28] Speaker 1: Jeff Propes and Mark Burnett at the LA Final fifty, uh,
[8:33] Speaker 1: I could tell that for other people. They had like
[8:37] Speaker 1: multiple versions of those other people, like there were multiple poverty,
[8:41] Speaker 1: they were multiple uh nates. And I was looking for
[8:46] Speaker 1: the other version of me, and it was Mark Burnett
[8:49] Speaker 1: and Jeff Propes arguing over what happened to the other
[8:53] Speaker 1: versions of me or the other version of me that
[8:55] Speaker 1: let me know, the other version of me didn't make
[8:57] Speaker 1: it and it was only me. They were like, hey,
[9:00] Speaker 1: he ain't the gay rocker and Jeff and uh yeah,
[9:07] Speaker 1: def and some of the other stuff was like, no,
[9:08] Speaker 1: he fell off a while back. This is this is Billy.
[9:12] Speaker 1: This is the rocker, pro wrestler, marine guy, and was like, so,
[9:16] Speaker 1: then where's the gay rockers.
[9:19] Speaker 7: He just kept going on about him.
[9:22] Speaker 3: That's hilarious. Thank god the gay rocker just back. Yes,
[9:28] Speaker 3: we're talking to Billy.
[9:29] Speaker 5: Or imagine a season where the marine rocker and the
[9:33] Speaker 5: gay rocker.
[9:33] Speaker 3: Well, then you guys could have had that the rock
[9:35] Speaker 3: and roll tribe, like you mentioned in.
[9:37] Speaker 4: This episode, I tried to tribe that you wanted all
[9:39] Speaker 4: all all around.
[9:40] Speaker 1: I'm waiting for for for a call. I'm waiting for
[9:43] Speaker 1: them to get ben and yeah, yeah, here's a bitch survivor.
[9:48] Speaker 6: If you're listening rockers versus rappers versus jazz musicians.
[9:54] Speaker 1: Oh, we could take back.
[9:55] Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a question that before we get into this episode,
[10:01] Speaker 5: we really need to ask you about a story that
[10:04] Speaker 5: Chase brought up. And Chase, I'll let you take it
[10:06] Speaker 5: away since you were the one who brought it to
[10:08] Speaker 5: our attention.
[10:09] Speaker 6: Yes, so I found deep in the internet a story
[10:13] Speaker 6: that you told one time about being caught on fire
[10:17] Speaker 6: during the first challenge. Can you tell us a little
[10:19] Speaker 6: bit about that? Is it true?
[10:21] Speaker 1: It's very true.
[10:23] Speaker 7: And the person that published this story was there.
[10:27] Speaker 1: Whoa from people? Now, Yeah, I don't know if you
[10:31] Speaker 1: want me the name drops or whatever, but but yeah,
[10:34] Speaker 1: he was there, so he saw the whole thing and
[10:35] Speaker 1: that's why he published it because he knew it was true.
[10:38] Speaker 7: He saw it with his own eyes.
[10:40] Speaker 1: That was also what had happened was there was a
[10:48] Speaker 1: part in the first challenge where we had to paddle
[10:51] Speaker 1: out to the platform in the middle of the water
[10:53] Speaker 1: and there was this big barrel of kerosene and we
[10:56] Speaker 1: had to dip a torch and the kerosene and then
[10:58] Speaker 1: it was a fire on the side of it and
[11:00] Speaker 1: we'd light the torch and then take it all the
[11:02] Speaker 1: way back to shore, climb up this puzzle ladder and
[11:06] Speaker 1: light this coldron on fire, and that's how you got
[11:08] Speaker 1: a musing. So Christina, I think, was very unaware that
[11:14] Speaker 1: this platform was just floating in the water and wasn't like,
[11:18] Speaker 1: didn't have like stilts or something going down into the water.
[11:21] Speaker 1: So she actually tried to step onto the platform and
[11:24] Speaker 1: the platform just tilted slightly, but enough for the carrots.
[11:28] Speaker 1: Some of the carroats need to spill out and get
[11:30] Speaker 1: on my backside rear end. So fast forward to the
[11:35] Speaker 1: end of the challenge, and the rule of the challenge
[11:38] Speaker 1: was that the person with the torch had to go
[11:40] Speaker 1: up the ladder last. That wasn't like our idea, that
[11:44] Speaker 1: was just what Jeff and the challenge makers came up with.
[11:48] Speaker 1: So as I'm climbing up the puzzle ladder, it starts
[11:51] Speaker 1: to come undone, and that forces me to stop my ascent.
[11:54] Speaker 1: And so as I fixed the puzzle ladder, Christina was
[11:57] Speaker 1: very unaware that I had stopped my forward momentum up
[12:03] Speaker 1: and so she kept climbing and she lit my rear
[12:06] Speaker 1: ends on fire and Jeff, Jeff is literally like less
[12:11] Speaker 1: than ten feet away from me at the top of
[12:12] Speaker 1: the platform yelling bills up. He's in golf to the plane,
[12:18] Speaker 1: and in my head I'm like, crap, that figures. Yeah,
[12:22] Speaker 1: but I wasn't even worried about pain or anything. I
[12:25] Speaker 1: was just like yeah. So I looked down at Christida.
[12:29] Speaker 1: I'm telling Christina, hey, you're tying me, and she's like.
[12:32] Speaker 7: Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
[12:34] Speaker 1: So I go. I finished going up the ladder and
[12:37] Speaker 1: Christina comes and stands in front of me, stares at
[12:39] Speaker 1: me like I think she's expecting me to drop dead
[12:42] Speaker 1: or something. And I look at Christina like, what are
[12:44] Speaker 1: you looking at? Don't wait? The challenge. So I patted
[12:47] Speaker 1: myself off, and I think cowboy, who was already up there,
[12:50] Speaker 1: give me a couple of pats. And then he got
[12:52] Speaker 1: pulled back by his own try.
[12:56] Speaker 3: That is incredible.
[12:57] Speaker 7: I got, well, you know this is the stranger pat.
[13:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, it feels very.
[13:03] Speaker 1: It's very proper.
[13:04] Speaker 3: Did he get the headache out of you?
[13:06] Speaker 2: Yes?
[13:06] Speaker 4: You don't pull your nose and give me the mark.
[13:09] Speaker 4: You gotta do that, you gotta get that out. I like,
[13:11] Speaker 4: I can't believe they did.
[13:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well, you know, I think they were worried
[13:15] Speaker 1: about getting suit.
[13:16] Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, But for us at home, there's no
[13:20] Speaker 4: there's no game on us where it's okay, they sets
[13:22] Speaker 4: up that fire, but for us at.
[13:24] Speaker 3: Home, and we're about to talk about the episode.
[13:26] Speaker 4: But I'm watching this episode and everybody's like, Billy's a liability,
[13:29] Speaker 4: Billy's a liability, And I'm like, what are you talking about?
[13:31] Speaker 4: Billy's awesome and Billy got out on fire. If I
[13:34] Speaker 4: knew that Billy got caught on fire, I might be
[13:37] Speaker 4: able to understand the old Billy's a liability thing, even
[13:41] Speaker 4: though you're incredible this whole thing, Oh he got caught
[13:44] Speaker 4: on fire and the first thing, maybe we need to
[13:47] Speaker 4: send them home.
[13:48] Speaker 3: I would maybe be able to understand it.
[13:50] Speaker 4: But while I'm watching this whole episode, I'm like.
[13:52] Speaker 1: What does everyone to deal with Billy?
[13:53] Speaker 4: Billy's awesome?
[13:55] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[13:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, well that that's Ozzy's whole thing? Is that uh
[14:00] Speaker 1: by leaving that out of the out of the uh
[14:03] Speaker 1: the edit because as he was actually he was, he
[14:08] Speaker 1: was talking about a lot of you know, an act
[14:10] Speaker 1: of mercy, mercy, and they edited that whole thing out,
[14:13] Speaker 1: and yeah, they definitely.
[14:15] Speaker 6: And we'll talk about this because there's a moment later
[14:17] Speaker 6: in the episode that I think fully.
[14:19] Speaker 3: Encapulated, encapsulates the.
[14:22] Speaker 6: Whole thing that we're talking about about who you are
[14:24] Speaker 6: as a person, but how you are perceived in the edit.
[14:27] Speaker 3: So let's jump into the beginning of the episode.
[14:30] Speaker 8: Yeah, let's do it. You know, I don't trust that Oscar.
[14:33] Speaker 8: I just want to say, but bring that up. Cowboys
[14:38] Speaker 8: removing headaches. He's given hes.
[14:41] Speaker 4: He's Cowboys second time he's done the thing with the
[14:44] Speaker 4: headache and the person's been like, I don't have a
[14:46] Speaker 4: headache anymore.
[14:47] Speaker 3: It's amazing, Like I am.
[14:49] Speaker 4: So fascinated by Cowboy and his ability to get rid
[14:53] Speaker 4: of headaches.
[14:53] Speaker 3: Here's the thing about Cowboy.
[14:55] Speaker 6: I one believe that he knows what he's talking about,
[14:58] Speaker 6: but it would be a hilarious bit if he's just
[15:01] Speaker 6: doing a prank.
[15:02] Speaker 3: He's just giving people red marks.
[15:04] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, they actually seen him do it.
[15:06] Speaker 3: Outside of the Survivor.
[15:07] Speaker 1: He did it to uh to uh uh. Jeff put.
[15:14] Speaker 3: Worked that time too.
[15:16] Speaker 1: It was like crazy, she she she had him.
[15:19] Speaker 7: I think it was a mind grade.
[15:21] Speaker 1: And we were at an event, at a charity event,
[15:24] Speaker 1: and so she was struggling to get through the event
[15:26] Speaker 1: and Cowboy did his thing.
[15:28] Speaker 3: That's amazing.
[15:29] Speaker 6: So before we even got to the cowboy part of
[15:31] Speaker 6: this episode, there's a part of the episode where we
[15:34] Speaker 6: see one of the tribes arguing about their living condition,
[15:40] Speaker 6: the White.
[15:40] Speaker 3: Tribe or the Blue tribe. Cranky Adam. Yes, so Adam.
[15:44] Speaker 4: Has Adam seen Survivor?
[15:46] Speaker 6: No, And that's a big part of this season, which
[15:48] Speaker 6: is so many people were like found and they didn't
[15:53] Speaker 6: audition for the show. They didn't know anything about the show, right,
[15:56] Speaker 6: And Billy, you actually have a very fun story about
[15:59] Speaker 6: how some on your tribe had never seen Survivor and
[16:02] Speaker 6: actually thought that you all go to tribal no matter
[16:06] Speaker 6: who wins.
[16:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, that was uh JP who was born who was
[16:12] Speaker 1: born Juan Pablo and didn't like being Hispanic, so he
[16:16] Speaker 1: named himself John Paul and all the people in his
[16:19] Speaker 1: life he guy for for Navy for for naming himself
[16:24] Speaker 1: John Paul. So his solution was to rebrand himself as JP.
[16:29] Speaker 1: So he basically disowned the Hispanic race twice and he
[16:32] Speaker 1: got cast to represent that Hispanic race.
[16:35] Speaker 7: So great Cats describing great Cat.
[16:37] Speaker 1: So so this guy, we we win the challenge, the
[16:43] Speaker 1: first challenge, the one I was set on fire at
[16:45] Speaker 1: and he tries to bully me into voting out Christina,
[16:49] Speaker 1: and so to calm things down and humor him, I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah,
[16:53] Speaker 1: I totally have a reason to votere Rock. She set
[16:55] Speaker 1: me on fire. She was like and he was like,
[16:58] Speaker 1: what do you need a reason for? You said you
[17:00] Speaker 1: were with us, and I'm telling you the voter. I'm like, dude,
[17:03] Speaker 1: then I take it. I realized he's being serious. I
[17:06] Speaker 1: thought he was joking, so I really I realized he's
[17:08] Speaker 1: being serious. I'm like, dude, we're not going to tribal council.
[17:11] Speaker 1: Every tribe goes to tribal council. There's twenty us here.
[17:14] Speaker 1: How do you think we're gonna get down to one.
[17:17] Speaker 1: I'm like, dude, didn't you listen to Jim Bok? He
[17:20] Speaker 1: said all the teams that that winning munity don't go
[17:25] Speaker 1: to tribal council. The one team that didn't win community,
[17:29] Speaker 1: they're the ones that go. JP kept on and on
[17:32] Speaker 1: and on about how I have to vote Christina, and
[17:35] Speaker 1: then the end I got frustrated. I'm like, what do
[17:37] Speaker 1: you want me to do? Write the name?
[17:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, the nice woman who got shot?
[17:44] Speaker 4: Ye like, we're going to tribal regardless of what justice,
[17:51] Speaker 4: we're writing your name.
[17:52] Speaker 6: Down, darn it, which is very funny, foreshadowing to what
[17:55] Speaker 6: they do in episode two, which is we're going to
[17:58] Speaker 6: tribal no matter what.
[18:00] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[18:01] Speaker 7: Well, the the ironic thing.
[18:02] Speaker 1: First of all, the reason why it was Christina is
[18:05] Speaker 1: because Christina was a cop who who was on au
[18:14] Speaker 1: Ozzy ye, So so the reason he was these two.
[18:21] Speaker 1: You know, it's gonna explode at some point, it's gonna
[18:23] Speaker 1: be We're all gonna be fosen.
[18:27] Speaker 5: Place were I wrote in my notes Ozzie said he
[18:33] Speaker 5: gets a little pissed off at Christina, and it might
[18:35] Speaker 5: be because she's a cop, which makes sense if the
[18:37] Speaker 5: Johnny fair Play and Ozzie smuggling weed into Micronesia story
[18:41] Speaker 5: is true.
[18:42] Speaker 1: I wasn't there, but I heard Johnny tell it and
[18:46] Speaker 1: it sounds very.
[18:49] Speaker 6: But back to what we were saying, So the the
[18:51] Speaker 6: Blue tribe the White tribe are arguing about the living
[18:53] Speaker 6: conditions because Benner comes back from exile island and he's like,
[18:57] Speaker 6: this floor, we gotta do something about the floor. But
[19:01] Speaker 6: this other dude, what's his name, Adam Adam, He's like,
[19:05] Speaker 6: what's the difference between the floor and if we elevate it.
[19:08] Speaker 6: What's the difference and this guy's an which is the
[19:13] Speaker 6: fun reason to cast people who have never seen the
[19:15] Speaker 6: show get alter.
[19:17] Speaker 1: This well, well, a little, a little insight. I'm actually
[19:21] Speaker 1: a really good, fun, very smart moron. It's Adam Adam.
[19:30] Speaker 1: Adam wanted to contradict basically everything that Jonathan said to
[19:34] Speaker 1: put Jonathan's back against the wall with the cry. So
[19:38] Speaker 1: Jonathan could have set up, Adam would have sat down.
[19:41] Speaker 1: Jonathan could have said forward, Adam would have said backwards.
[19:44] Speaker 1: So it didn't matter what Jonathan was saying. It was
[19:47] Speaker 1: always that Adam was gonna contradict.
[19:51] Speaker 3: A strategic genius. My bad yo, shout out my boy
[19:54] Speaker 3: Adam Adam. I loved Adam from the beginning. Cut that
[20:02] Speaker 3: that thing I said earlier, get on.
[20:05] Speaker 5: Social So does this take us into the reward I
[20:10] Speaker 5: mean immunity challenge next?
[20:12] Speaker 3: Or do we have anything else to cover before that?
[20:14] Speaker 2: Oh?
[20:14] Speaker 3: Why do they need to do the immunity challenge?
[20:15] Speaker 9: I thought everybody went yeah, everyone, Well, one thing that
[20:19] Speaker 9: I do want to talk about happens before you guys
[20:21] Speaker 9: go on the challenge is there's a moment in this
[20:24] Speaker 9: episode where you talk about feeling excluded from the tribe,
[20:28] Speaker 9: and looking back all these years later, do you still
[20:31] Speaker 9: feel that way or was it the kind of thing
[20:33] Speaker 9: where like I was hungry, I was tired. Maybe I
[20:35] Speaker 9: just saw it in a different light than I do.
[20:37] Speaker 9: Know he gets voted out in this episode, right, well.
[20:40] Speaker 3: But I'm talking about feeling included.
[20:42] Speaker 1: No, what I was getting at that was a little
[20:45] Speaker 1: piece of a much longer conversation, and I was referencing
[20:50] Speaker 1: the beginning of the game, before our feet ever touched land.
[20:53] Speaker 7: While we were paddling towards.
[20:54] Speaker 1: The island we were, we were doing the whole name
[20:58] Speaker 1: where You're from, and you occupy patient and we were
[21:00] Speaker 1: all taking turns while we were on the boat as
[21:03] Speaker 1: a quick get to know you, and I went first,
[21:06] Speaker 1: which was the most deadliest mistakes that maybe any survivor
[21:12] Speaker 1: had ever done in the history of the game. And
[21:15] Speaker 1: you would have never known it because it sounds so
[21:16] Speaker 1: innocent to go first and say, all right, the first,
[21:18] Speaker 1: my name is Billian from New York, and uh, I'm
[21:21] Speaker 1: a heavy metal pro wrestler. And then then Christina says, oh,
[21:27] Speaker 1: I'm a cop from from Santa Monica, and then that
[21:31] Speaker 1: changed that. That was like needle off the record moment.
[21:34] Speaker 1: JP was like, oh, I'm from Santa Monica. And Ozzie, Oh,
[21:36] Speaker 1: I'm from Santa Monica, and and Cecilia was like, well,
[21:41] Speaker 1: I'm not from Santa Monica, but I'm from Oakland.
[21:43] Speaker 7: That's still California.
[21:44] Speaker 4: Oh my god, we're the Kells almost from all California.
[21:49] Speaker 1: Is not fair. So so while they're saying out loud
[21:55] Speaker 1: that they're not gonna tell anybody that they're all from
[21:57] Speaker 1: California and that they were gonna stick together, I'm there
[22:00] Speaker 1: whacking my own head with the paddle over and over
[22:04] Speaker 1: here because I knew I was a dead man. It
[22:06] Speaker 1: was over. I hadn't even touched that yet and it
[22:09] Speaker 1: was over. And so that's what I was alluding to, Like,
[22:11] Speaker 1: I'm in Schoolia, I'm not from California. It's too late
[22:14] Speaker 1: for me to lie about it. And I guess maybe
[22:18] Speaker 1: I could have said, no, I met New York. I
[22:21] Speaker 1: love no Town near Baker's Field.
[22:23] Speaker 4: Well, I love the idea of Billy going last and
[22:26] Speaker 4: being like, I'm also from California.
[22:31] Speaker 1: California.
[22:33] Speaker 3: Well, and that's a big thing.
[22:34] Speaker 6: And we talked about this a lot last episode, Like
[22:36] Speaker 6: I think it was fifteen out of the twenty castaways
[22:39] Speaker 6: were recruited from California this season, and the big idea
[22:43] Speaker 6: that they're showing us on screen is, oh, these people
[22:45] Speaker 6: are all similar because they had similar culture, because they're
[22:48] Speaker 6: the same races.
[22:50] Speaker 1: Right.
[22:50] Speaker 6: And there's a thing that you talk about in this
[22:52] Speaker 6: episode where you said, you know, you consider heavy metal
[22:56] Speaker 6: almost your culture more than your race necessarily. Do you
[23:00] Speaker 6: think that that is kind of the biggest flaw in
[23:03] Speaker 6: the whole dividing up by race, because it's like, hey,
[23:06] Speaker 6: I don't get along with these guys.
[23:07] Speaker 3: They all get along because they're from California.
[23:09] Speaker 6: Maybe I need to be with the other musicians and
[23:11] Speaker 6: then I would feel more like I belong.
[23:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't choose my race. I was just born
[23:16] Speaker 1: this way. This wasn't a choice. But I can't choose
[23:20] Speaker 1: like culture, and yeah, heavy metal is a culture. You
[23:25] Speaker 1: see people, how they dress, how they talk, basically what
[23:29] Speaker 1: their whole live is centered around. So yeah, that I
[23:33] Speaker 1: always consider that my culture. And that was my point
[23:35] Speaker 1: that Jeff and Martin win they pulled me into the tent.
[23:39] Speaker 1: But I would say for people who will struggle to
[23:41] Speaker 1: understand my situation, I would say, let's just imagine the
[23:46] Speaker 1: white tribe was four rednecks from Alabama and one Amish
[23:52] Speaker 1: from Canada.
[23:53] Speaker 5: Yah.
[23:53] Speaker 7: Yeah, and the homage they throw the challenge to get
[23:56] Speaker 7: rid of the homage guy.
[23:59] Speaker 1: To get rid of the omis. Then it's obvious what's
[24:01] Speaker 1: going on here, right, You don't have to try to
[24:03] Speaker 1: paint the homage guys lazy or annoying or anything. It's
[24:07] Speaker 1: obvious what's going on.
[24:08] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[24:08] Speaker 7: So I feel like that's the case with me.
[24:11] Speaker 1: It's obvious, except that, you know, because it's it's Spanish people,
[24:16] Speaker 1: Spanish speaking people, the assumption is, oh, you know, it
[24:19] Speaker 1: must be because he's lazy, or he's he's not American,
[24:23] Speaker 1: he's an emorgan or something. You know. People come up
[24:25] Speaker 1: with all different excuses. Why was me, No, it was
[24:28] Speaker 1: because you had four of a kind and then the
[24:31] Speaker 1: one by himself from the other side of the continent.
[24:34] Speaker 5: Right.
[24:35] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[24:35] Speaker 6: So right before we go to the challenge is where
[24:38] Speaker 6: we find out that Ozzie wants to throw the challenge
[24:40] Speaker 6: to get out Billy Billy.
[24:42] Speaker 3: Do you have any idea this was coming? Did you
[24:44] Speaker 3: see this ahead of the time.
[24:46] Speaker 1: I did not see this ahead of the time, and
[24:48] Speaker 1: it was edited to sound like it was Ozzy's idea,
[24:50] Speaker 1: it was JP's idea, and then Ozzy decided, Okay, we're
[24:55] Speaker 1: gonna do it as a mercy killing.
[24:57] Speaker 3: Interesting. Why did the edit want to dunk on Ozzie
[24:59] Speaker 3: so hard?
[25:00] Speaker 1: Well, because the winners write the history books and Survivor
[25:04] Speaker 1: and Ozzy Ozzy made it all the way to the end,
[25:08] Speaker 1: So no offense to me and JP. It screw us.
[25:11] Speaker 3: The stories about I got you, I got you, and
[25:19] Speaker 3: that probably Lucille.
[25:25] Speaker 1: Well, here's here's a little insight baseball for you guys.
[25:29] Speaker 1: He had never been called Ozzie before Survivor, really, and
[25:33] Speaker 1: uh really, and he he let it be known. And
[25:39] Speaker 1: me and Ozzy on the side figured out that he
[25:43] Speaker 1: got the nickname Ozzie not because Oscar is such a
[25:46] Speaker 1: sucky name, because it's not, but because it was a
[25:49] Speaker 1: wink wink, nudge nudge by the people behind the scenes
[25:52] Speaker 1: that maybe Ozzie and Billy, the guy who loves heavy
[25:56] Speaker 1: metal and loves Ozzy, should get together.
[25:59] Speaker 7: And and yeah, if I would have never gotten set
[26:02] Speaker 7: on Fire, I think it would have happened.
[26:04] Speaker 1: Damn.
[26:04] Speaker 3: Wow, that's really interesting. Getting set on fire is a
[26:08] Speaker 3: very metal thing.
[26:09] Speaker 1: That metal.
[26:10] Speaker 3: It's pretty metal.
[26:11] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know I could. I could always now brag.
[26:14] Speaker 7: I was like Michael Jackson only got his hair set
[26:16] Speaker 7: on fire.
[26:23] Speaker 5: It's also a very pro wrestling thing to get caught
[26:25] Speaker 5: on that. You mentioned the Deadly Boys Double Boys got
[26:28] Speaker 5: caught on fire.
[26:29] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, and Nick Foley got speared through
[26:32] Speaker 1: a table full of on fire. So yeah, I was
[26:37] Speaker 1: definitely the McK foley of the season. I took all that,
[26:40] Speaker 1: That's right.
[26:41] Speaker 3: So we get to the challenge and when you guys
[26:45] Speaker 3: are dividing up the team.
[26:46] Speaker 6: We don't often get to see this part, but we
[26:49] Speaker 6: get to see you guys figure out who should sit
[26:51] Speaker 6: out and you say, and I quote.
[26:54] Speaker 3: I should sit, I should sit, I should sit. I'm
[26:56] Speaker 3: like the worst with memory.
[26:58] Speaker 6: Now, is this because you weren't and you were like
[27:01] Speaker 6: I can tell something's up, or were you just like,
[27:03] Speaker 6: I'm actually not very good at memorizing things.
[27:06] Speaker 1: Well, the reason, the reason why I felt that I
[27:10] Speaker 1: should sit was looking out what all the other tribes
[27:14] Speaker 1: had done. They had already they had already made up
[27:16] Speaker 1: their minds before Jeff had even gave gave us the
[27:21] Speaker 1: time to figure it out. It was it was we
[27:23] Speaker 1: were the last ones to figure it out because we
[27:26] Speaker 1: figured it out on the on the spot, and everybody
[27:30] Speaker 1: else had basically their their their A team out there,
[27:34] Speaker 1: meaning their best athlete, their their their their most balanced,
[27:38] Speaker 1: the the best at balance, the best at memory, the
[27:42] Speaker 1: best at everything. I felt like my strengths were in
[27:44] Speaker 1: other areas, so uh. And I also wanted JP because
[27:51] Speaker 1: I kind of had a feeling as we were heading
[27:53] Speaker 1: into Tribal that he was looking to sit So I
[27:55] Speaker 1: kind of wanted JP to admit out loud that here
[27:59] Speaker 1: he is supposed to be the monster athlete of our
[28:02] Speaker 1: team and he's choosing to sit out. So I wanted
[28:04] Speaker 1: him to admit that out loud.
[28:06] Speaker 3: That's a good strategy.
[28:07] Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a good strategy if everybody's not from California.
[28:11] Speaker 4: Hey, did they I don't want to keep harping on
[28:15] Speaker 4: the fact that you got caught on fire? But did
[28:18] Speaker 4: they have to at some points? Did the producers have
[28:21] Speaker 4: to come around and be like, guys, you have to
[28:23] Speaker 4: stop talking about that because we know it's not going
[28:26] Speaker 4: to make it to air. Because if if I am
[28:28] Speaker 4: on the team with someone who's ass gets caught on fire,
[28:31] Speaker 4: I'm gonna be talking about that.
[28:33] Speaker 1: All the time. Well, funny enough, if you compare if
[28:39] Speaker 1: you compare my shorts in the first challenge and the
[28:43] Speaker 1: second challenge, you'll see that.
[28:44] Speaker 7: They're very different shorts. And that's because the first shorts.
[28:47] Speaker 1: Didn't make it. After the fire is setting, it didn't
[28:51] Speaker 1: make it. So if you look at the two sets
[28:54] Speaker 1: of shorts, they're very different. And yeah, at one point
[28:58] Speaker 1: we were arguing on the beach. This is on the
[29:02] Speaker 1: day of the of the of the final tribal, my
[29:05] Speaker 1: final tribal, my final day. We were larguing on the
[29:09] Speaker 1: beach and we were bringing up a bunch of stuff,
[29:13] Speaker 1: that being one of them, and field producer David Burds
[29:17] Speaker 1: came running out to the beach saying, those are not issues.
[29:19] Speaker 1: Those are not issues, meaning that we can't talk about them.
[29:23] Speaker 3: Oh wow.
[29:24] Speaker 1: So that was basically my last my last gasp right
[29:29] Speaker 1: there was to say, hey, it's not fair that you
[29:31] Speaker 1: guys are are ending my game when it's your fault
[29:35] Speaker 1: that I got set on fire and got put in
[29:36] Speaker 1: this situation. That was my last gas, but now I
[29:41] Speaker 1: can't talk about it. Medicals are well, that season, medicals
[29:44] Speaker 1: were douchebags.
[29:45] Speaker 2: Man.
[29:47] Speaker 1: I'm not gonna name his name because I don't want
[29:49] Speaker 1: him to have any publicity, and I give you a
[29:52] Speaker 1: total d bag. But he was like, he was like,
[29:55] Speaker 1: you look like you need some water, and I was like, yeah,
[29:57] Speaker 1: I could really use some water. I was just fucking
[29:59] Speaker 1: with you. There's no water. Oh wow?
[30:03] Speaker 7: Whoa yeah yeah the guy to face.
[30:08] Speaker 3: Yeah, light him on fire. I don't condone this all right.
[30:16] Speaker 6: Now, it's time forever about his favorite part of the episode.
[30:19] Speaker 3: We're gonna talk about the challenge.
[30:22] Speaker 6: It is a classic survivor obstacle course where people are
[30:25] Speaker 6: tied together.
[30:26] Speaker 3: But here's the twist.
[30:27] Speaker 6: You gotta listen to a story from Jeff about Captain Cook.
[30:32] Speaker 3: Yep, I gotta man, Can I say it right now?
[30:34] Speaker 3: I don't know if this is a hot take. I
[30:35] Speaker 3: hate these challenges, Like, here's a story and you gotta
[30:39] Speaker 3: remember stuff. I don't care, Jeff. I want to see
[30:43] Speaker 3: people do fun stuff. I don't want to know you
[30:45] Speaker 3: talk about a story.
[30:47] Speaker 1: Here's the fun thing. Though, Remember how you brought up
[30:49] Speaker 1: that I was saying them I don't have a good memory. Well,
[30:52] Speaker 1: this story was was the crux of what everybody was.
[30:57] Speaker 3: Researching at the beginning.
[30:58] Speaker 1: The book books out about the guy was back back
[31:01] Speaker 1: in the when they were back in the LA Final fifty.
[31:04] Speaker 1: So yeah, it's like we all knew the story.
[31:07] Speaker 7: Light I was like, fuck, I know this already.
[31:11] Speaker 3: That's awesome.
[31:12] Speaker 1: I don't need to have a good memory.
[31:14] Speaker 4: So so when you look at the book, is that
[31:18] Speaker 4: when you were like, uh, oh, I know something because
[31:20] Speaker 4: we all know the story.
[31:22] Speaker 1: We all know the story, and it was Ozzie's idea goes,
[31:25] Speaker 1: I'm not gidding it, I'm not getting I'm like, oh yeah.
[31:28] Speaker 1: I was like, oh, something might be up here. There's
[31:33] Speaker 1: an outside chance that Ozzie's having like stage fright or
[31:38] Speaker 1: pretty cold feet because the challenge is on. There's an
[31:41] Speaker 1: outside chance of that that it might have messed with
[31:42] Speaker 1: his memory. But I'm positive, beyond a shadow of a
[31:47] Speaker 1: doubt that Christina for sure knows the story because we
[31:50] Speaker 1: had this conversation days ago about that story, not knowing
[31:55] Speaker 1: that that story was gonna be part of the challenge.
[31:57] Speaker 3: Wow, yeah, that's very Yeah.
[32:00] Speaker 1: So in fact, Christina was the one who was tasked
[32:03] Speaker 1: with putting the tiles up for the answer to the
[32:06] Speaker 1: questions because she knew the story so well. Once we
[32:09] Speaker 1: got past that whole crawl under dive over, I had
[32:13] Speaker 1: the idea of when we could undo two tablets at
[32:17] Speaker 1: a time. Ozzy was on one end of the rope
[32:19] Speaker 1: and I was on the other end of the rope.
[32:21] Speaker 1: So I went to climb up, and as I climbed up,
[32:25] Speaker 1: Cecilia and Ozzie pulled me down and I damn near
[32:28] Speaker 1: got decapitated. I had like a minor concussion because it
[32:32] Speaker 1: was like a flash of light when I hit the wood,
[32:34] Speaker 1: when my face hit the wood, And Cecilily even apologized
[32:38] Speaker 1: for me hitting the wood, but she kept on throwing
[32:41] Speaker 1: the challenge and they wouldn't let me even climb up.
[32:44] Speaker 5: At that point, your tribe lit you on fire and
[32:48] Speaker 5: concussed you and could cussed me and through the challenge.
[32:52] Speaker 1: Oh the worst part is the worst part is since
[32:56] Speaker 1: we didn't cover the first episode, our raft got ran
[33:00] Speaker 1: over by the ship at the beginning of that the
[33:03] Speaker 1: city was west between the ship and the raft, and
[33:07] Speaker 1: according to Jeff Pros, the way he saw it, she
[33:09] Speaker 1: was being sawed in half. I saw that she was
[33:11] Speaker 1: being turned like butter. But either way it was not good.
[33:15] Speaker 1: And me and Lucia saved her and we saved her life.
[33:19] Speaker 1: And this woman turns around and throws a challenge.
[33:23] Speaker 3: Process Dang, dude, Hey, when you're on the path of
[33:25] Speaker 3: a million dollars.
[33:26] Speaker 7: No sense of loyalty because they're all from California.
[33:29] Speaker 1: They're they're Latinos from California, and I'm a Hispanic from
[33:32] Speaker 1: New York City and Latinos come from Latin America. Hispanics
[33:36] Speaker 1: come from the Caribbean. They're named after the island of
[33:38] Speaker 1: Espaniola where the Dominican Republic is. And to them, hey,
[33:43] Speaker 1: we're supposed to represent our race.
[33:45] Speaker 7: He's not one of us.
[33:46] Speaker 1: Dang dang, that's the way.
[33:48] Speaker 6: That's another big flaw with the way that they divided
[33:50] Speaker 6: up the tribes because they just kind of like even
[33:53] Speaker 6: with the tribe, they just throw all different races and
[33:58] Speaker 6: then there's like, yeah, they're all this, and that's that's
[34:01] Speaker 6: messed up.
[34:01] Speaker 1: Yeah, it was obvious why Cowboy was on the outside.
[34:04] Speaker 1: You have two Koreans, two Filipinos, and then Cowboy was
[34:08] Speaker 1: the one Vietnamese. So then what's going on there that.
[34:11] Speaker 7: He's on the outside. Again, it's a racial thing. It's
[34:14] Speaker 7: the same thing with me.
[34:15] Speaker 1: It's like it's so obvious once you took a look
[34:18] Speaker 1: at you know, and not treat Asian as a race,
[34:22] Speaker 1: but as a Asian as a region. It's a region.
[34:25] Speaker 1: There's a bunch of different people that make up Asia.
[34:28] Speaker 1: It's not just one type type of person. Same thing
[34:31] Speaker 1: with the Spanish people. It's Spanish because you got people
[34:35] Speaker 1: from Latin America and you got the one from them
[34:37] Speaker 1: from the Caribbean, the Hispanic and so it's it's and
[34:42] Speaker 1: then who was on the outside who who was the
[34:45] Speaker 1: villified guy?
[34:46] Speaker 7: On the White tribe? It was the Jew was the
[34:49] Speaker 7: only Jew.
[34:51] Speaker 1: You had one more, he wouldn't have been the villain.
[34:54] Speaker 3: That interesting.
[34:55] Speaker 1: Wow, if you had one more, the villain would have
[34:58] Speaker 1: been Flicker. Flicker was on Let the chickens get away.
[35:01] Speaker 1: He's not the villain.
[35:04] Speaker 2: That.
[35:05] Speaker 3: I didn't even think about that. That's very interesting.
[35:07] Speaker 6: So for the tribe, everybody's moving pretty quick. The Red
[35:11] Speaker 6: tribe is not going anywhere very fast. Ozzie is really
[35:14] Speaker 6: taking his time untying the different boards.
[35:16] Speaker 5: Uh.
[35:16] Speaker 6: The Green tribe gets first place rail row, the Blue
[35:19] Speaker 6: tribe gets second.
[35:21] Speaker 1: Uh.
[35:21] Speaker 3: And then that's when Jeff makes a comment.
[35:23] Speaker 5: Wait, can I can I bring up something about when
[35:25] Speaker 5: y'all were on the ropes, did Ozzie swing that thing?
[35:28] Speaker 3: To throw you off.
[35:29] Speaker 1: That's another thing that was edited at all. Ozzie was
[35:32] Speaker 1: swinging it like crazy. Not kept yelling Ozzie stops, stop
[35:36] Speaker 1: shaking the ropes, and the city will respond, I'm not
[35:39] Speaker 1: shaking the ropes like you're not Ozzy.
[35:41] Speaker 7: Ozzy stops taking I'm not shaking the ropes. He was
[35:46] Speaker 7: very obvious, and it's a frizzy hair, you're not Ouzy.
[35:51] Speaker 1: And so I wanted to make it really obvious that
[35:54] Speaker 1: my tribe was throwing the challenge. I did not want
[35:57] Speaker 1: it to to be a maybe hmm, maybe not could
[36:02] Speaker 1: it be maybe we've seen something that's not really happening.
[36:05] Speaker 1: I wanted to be woefully obvious because at this point
[36:10] Speaker 1: I knew that I was no longer playing for a
[36:12] Speaker 1: million dollars. I was playing for revenge.
[36:14] Speaker 3: And I think that you achieved your goal of making
[36:16] Speaker 3: sure that everyone knew that they threw it.
[36:17] Speaker 6: Because when Ozzie very obviously tries to knock all of
[36:20] Speaker 6: you guys off the rope ridge into the water, which
[36:23] Speaker 6: you do fall into the water.
[36:25] Speaker 2: Uh.
[36:26] Speaker 6: Jeff makes a comment, it makes me think that he
[36:29] Speaker 6: was well aware of what was going on. He goes,
[36:31] Speaker 6: I too, is having a holiday.
[36:34] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, And well I was calling them out
[36:37] Speaker 1: during during the challenge at one point, and uh, Ozzie
[36:42] Speaker 1: was taking his sweet time untying the tablets.
[36:46] Speaker 7: And by a sweet time, I mean Rarero.
[36:51] Speaker 1: The White tribe had three tablets before we had our first,
[36:54] Speaker 1: so that that could that made it so obvious. And
[36:57] Speaker 1: then even then we were we were nipping at the
[37:00] Speaker 1: heels of the Heikey tribe, the African American tribe. We
[37:05] Speaker 1: were nipping at the heels until Ozzie started shaking the ropes,
[37:08] Speaker 1: which stopped all our forward progress. I'm at the back,
[37:12] Speaker 1: so it's not like I could even just just walk
[37:15] Speaker 1: around people because we're all tied together and I'm the
[37:18] Speaker 1: last one on the end. If we were not tied together,
[37:21] Speaker 1: I could have just walked around all the all of
[37:24] Speaker 1: the women and Ozzy and got off. And then it
[37:26] Speaker 1: would have made them look stupid, them being the only
[37:30] Speaker 1: ones just there hanging out on the ropes pretending like
[37:32] Speaker 1: the camp pack.
[37:33] Speaker 6: You guys, being tied together or almost helped them in
[37:36] Speaker 6: their endeavor of throwing the challenge.
[37:38] Speaker 7: Oh, it for sure it did.
[37:41] Speaker 1: If they weren't. If we were never tied together, I
[37:43] Speaker 1: could have went and got all the tablets the mess
[37:48] Speaker 1: with that first one, so that tying us together handed
[37:53] Speaker 1: them the thrown challenge.
[37:55] Speaker 3: Dang, So the challenge is over.
[37:57] Speaker 6: Obviously, the Red Tribe lose and someone gets sent to
[38:03] Speaker 6: Exile Island. Yule actually get sent to Exile Island, which
[38:06] Speaker 6: is a pretty big moment.
[38:07] Speaker 7: And then we let me tell you that story.
[38:10] Speaker 1: So my tribe wanted to send out him, okay, and
[38:14] Speaker 1: I had an under the table deal with Cana or
[38:17] Speaker 1: behind the scenes deal with Candace going back to the
[38:20] Speaker 1: Ponderosa where we had made a deal behind the bathroom
[38:23] Speaker 1: at the Ponderosa.
[38:24] Speaker 3: What kind of a deal that you make.
[38:26] Speaker 1: That's why the conversation with me and Candace happened. We
[38:29] Speaker 1: would We knew that this this race stuff wasn't gonna
[38:33] Speaker 1: last or this, so we we said that when it
[38:38] Speaker 1: came time for them to re scramble the tribes, that
[38:40] Speaker 1: I will pull her or she would pull me, and
[38:42] Speaker 1: that we would work together to get to the end.
[38:44] Speaker 6: In the episode, we see that you are kind of
[38:46] Speaker 6: the one leading the conversation of who should get sent
[38:49] Speaker 6: to Exile Island, So you were trying to help Candace.
[38:52] Speaker 1: I was helping Candas and I made a secondary deal
[38:55] Speaker 1: with it. I told Candace, I'm not gonna make it.
[38:57] Speaker 1: They just threw the challenge to get rid of me
[39:00] Speaker 1: and everybody but Flicker was listening. Flicker was in her
[39:03] Speaker 1: own world because that's Flick. But uh uh, but yeah,
[39:09] Speaker 1: Jonathan was in on it, Adam was in on it,
[39:11] Speaker 1: Poverty was in on it, and uh uh, it was Jonathan.
[39:16] Speaker 1: When I told him my tribe wants to send Adam
[39:18] Speaker 1: to exile Island, it was Jonathan was like, no, don't
[39:20] Speaker 1: send Adam. And I was like, well, you tell me
[39:23] Speaker 1: who you want to send the exile island, and in exchange,
[39:27] Speaker 1: vote out everyone on my tribes made you guys want
[39:30] Speaker 1: to get to the end anyway, so they need to
[39:32] Speaker 1: go vote them all out. And so that was the
[39:36] Speaker 1: deal with Jonathan, Candison and Poverty. H Adam was kind
[39:41] Speaker 1: of nodding his head, but I don't think he actually agreed.
[39:44] Speaker 1: I think he was nodding his head like yes, I'm
[39:46] Speaker 1: hearing you, like not necessarily like yes, I agree with you.
[39:50] Speaker 1: So I had to fight to send to send to Yule.
[39:53] Speaker 1: I had to basically blackmail my tribe. I told him,
[39:56] Speaker 1: if you if you don't let me send you. I'm
[39:58] Speaker 1: gonna tell everybody that you through the challenge, and I'm
[40:01] Speaker 1: gonna start naming names why you through the challenge and
[40:04] Speaker 1: how I got treated at all and back at the camp,
[40:07] Speaker 1: and how you guys set me a fire, like.
[40:08] Speaker 7: All right, right, like just to shut me up.
[40:13] Speaker 5: Man, you had the most insane two episode of art
[40:16] Speaker 5: in the history of Survivor. I think, like the absolutely
[40:20] Speaker 5: getting on fire can cuss just all the dynamics with
[40:24] Speaker 5: your tribe and everything, and it's just an incredible.
[40:26] Speaker 3: You deserve some water at the very la you have
[40:29] Speaker 3: the guys some water you're making behind the bathroom deals
[40:32] Speaker 3: with the white try So let's get to it, Chase.
[40:37] Speaker 1: Yes, So this is the so okay, I was just
[40:40] Speaker 1: gonna say the iconic moment ye when Canadas goes we
[40:43] Speaker 1: love yea.
[40:44] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[40:45] Speaker 1: That was her not response for from trying to make
[40:48] Speaker 1: me feel better for getting you know, the challenge throne,
[40:51] Speaker 1: for making.
[40:52] Speaker 3: That deal interest.
[40:53] Speaker 1: That was her way of saying that they all appreciate
[40:57] Speaker 1: the deal I just made to send Yule and not
[40:59] Speaker 1: send at him, and they were gonna vote out my
[41:03] Speaker 1: tribe and that I you know, from from my end,
[41:06] Speaker 1: I'm gonna do everything I can to help them.
[41:08] Speaker 3: That that makes a lot more.
[41:09] Speaker 1: So that was her way of cementing, like, we love
[41:12] Speaker 1: you because and here's that. So I said I love
[41:16] Speaker 1: you too, and I said I love you too. I
[41:18] Speaker 1: was actually saying it to the whole.
[41:19] Speaker 3: Tribe, right rights, because it did and I'll get to
[41:23] Speaker 3: the last park.
[41:23] Speaker 6: Yeah, it did feel rushed because you look over at
[41:26] Speaker 6: the Blue tribe and you tell them I'm next, and
[41:29] Speaker 6: then Candace says we love you, and you say I
[41:32] Speaker 6: love you.
[41:33] Speaker 3: So that does make sense and then you kind of
[41:35] Speaker 3: look down in his mind.
[41:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, because I.
[41:38] Speaker 3: Was very curious, why you guys are they.
[41:40] Speaker 1: Basically cut out six minutes? They basically cut out six
[41:45] Speaker 1: minutes of conversation.
[41:46] Speaker 3: That makes sense.
[41:47] Speaker 7: That makes a lot of so that.
[41:49] Speaker 1: You know, I understand in that, Like I said, the
[41:53] Speaker 1: winners write the history book. Uh, this is this is
[41:55] Speaker 1: my elimination episode. And six minutes of this one conversation
[42:00] Speaker 1: for a one hour episode. It's kind of ridiculous.
[42:03] Speaker 3: I have a question.
[42:04] Speaker 6: Is there often times where you the four tribes are
[42:08] Speaker 6: just standing around kind of talking like that we.
[42:10] Speaker 1: Were supposed to be under under a gag order. When
[42:13] Speaker 1: they're under gag order. It means that's when the producers
[42:16] Speaker 1: tell us to shut up, they call a gag order.
[42:18] Speaker 1: Be quiet.
[42:20] Speaker 7: Me and Canada's were two of the more fuck you
[42:22] Speaker 7: players out there.
[42:24] Speaker 1: So we didn't care that we were in the gag order.
[42:27] Speaker 1: And then the conversation was happening between us. So you
[42:30] Speaker 1: get two players that have the fuck you attitude having
[42:33] Speaker 1: a conversation together. There was no stopping it. There was
[42:36] Speaker 1: there was nothing the producers could do, especially from my
[42:39] Speaker 1: point of view, where I'm basically they From my point
[42:43] Speaker 1: of view, the producers made it possible for my tribe
[42:46] Speaker 1: to throw a challenge by tying us together. If that
[42:50] Speaker 1: one thing, one aspect, wasn't part of the challenge, I'd
[42:53] Speaker 1: have been fine.
[42:54] Speaker 4: We were having this conversation that very clearly tells the
[42:58] Speaker 4: producers and Jeff I think they might have an agreement
[43:02] Speaker 4: that was made before the season started. Did anyone come
[43:06] Speaker 4: up to you and be like, hey, you all can't
[43:08] Speaker 4: do that, Like you can't be talking about handshake agreements
[43:12] Speaker 4: that happened back at Ponderosa.
[43:14] Speaker 1: No, Because when you're at the Pondorosa, even though you're
[43:16] Speaker 1: under gag order, they're telling you the game has already started,
[43:20] Speaker 1: So be careful your expressions, be careful what you say
[43:23] Speaker 1: to the handlers, be careful what you do. And that's Truely,
[43:28] Speaker 1: game had already started, there was It wasn't just just
[43:32] Speaker 1: me and Cansas Me Candis got the idea.
[43:34] Speaker 3: From all Okay, we did.
[43:36] Speaker 1: It wasn't an original idea.
[43:37] Speaker 3: That's awesome. Did anyone smuggle any weed? No, no one
[43:42] Speaker 3: spuggled any weed.
[43:45] Speaker 1: And no one smuggled any any What was it the
[43:49] Speaker 1: what was it that was smuggling at one time? No
[43:51] Speaker 1: one smuggled any any beat.
[43:56] Speaker 3: Beat?
[43:56] Speaker 2: Sure?
[43:57] Speaker 3: All right, So we get back from the challenge.
[44:00] Speaker 6: We get a confessional from Ozzie where he says, Oscar, yeah, Oscar,
[44:04] Speaker 6: so sorry, so sorry. Hey, it sucks. But Billy dug
[44:07] Speaker 6: his own hole by not helping out. Well, this is
[44:11] Speaker 6: some behind the scenes baseball on our part. We also
[44:13] Speaker 6: have a Jonathan. We have a host named Jonathan. He
[44:17] Speaker 6: is not he's digging his own hole. He's not helping
[44:19] Speaker 6: out there. Should we cut him loose?
[44:20] Speaker 7: You think, well, this is the narrative that got pushed.
[44:27] Speaker 2: Uh.
[44:27] Speaker 1: Basically, they had two narratives that they wanted to push
[44:30] Speaker 1: on me. One of them you saw in the two
[44:32] Speaker 1: episodes and the other one you see in the recap episode.
[44:36] Speaker 1: So I have a completely different story in the recap episode.
[44:38] Speaker 3: That's oh wow. Yeah.
[44:40] Speaker 1: And those are the two narratives. The narrative one of
[44:43] Speaker 1: the one that made the episode was that Billy, being
[44:47] Speaker 1: the heavier guy, was the lazy guy. The other narrative
[44:51] Speaker 1: was Billy being a Survivor fan overplayed and made too
[44:54] Speaker 1: many deals and they tried to play too too too
[44:58] Speaker 1: much Survivor too soon. So those were the narratives that
[45:01] Speaker 1: were that were being pushed. And so when not just Ozzy,
[45:07] Speaker 1: but all of us cut these confessionals, we were basically
[45:10] Speaker 1: cutting them twice, one for each.
[45:12] Speaker 3: Now interesting.
[45:14] Speaker 4: So, so what you're saying is that you like it
[45:16] Speaker 4: does seem like you and Oscar had the potential to
[45:19] Speaker 4: have a friendship. But because at some point in time,
[45:24] Speaker 4: the powers that be thought about this type of narrative
[45:28] Speaker 4: where you're the lazy one, blah blah blah, they're kind
[45:31] Speaker 4: of trying to get Oscar Ozzy if you will, if
[45:35] Speaker 4: you want to, to say stuff like this, even if
[45:38] Speaker 4: he doesn't believe it. He they're kind of coaching him
[45:40] Speaker 4: to be like, hey, Billy's lazy.
[45:43] Speaker 1: Well, with with when you cut a confessional, you were
[45:48] Speaker 1: mandated to include the question at the beginning.
[45:51] Speaker 7: Of your answer or somewhere in your answer.
[45:54] Speaker 1: And when you hear the question, you know where they're
[45:58] Speaker 1: trying to lead. Like one of the more common questions
[46:01] Speaker 1: is is like, hey, why don't you and JP or
[46:04] Speaker 1: why do you think JP HD?
[46:06] Speaker 7: So the first thing that pops.
[46:07] Speaker 1: Into your head is JPH, but you can't say that.
[46:11] Speaker 1: You gotta say, well, JP hates me because and so
[46:15] Speaker 1: that's the way you're let on, and they formulate the
[46:19] Speaker 1: narrative that way. The reason why they do this narrative
[46:22] Speaker 1: is because they know everything that's going on, and then
[46:27] Speaker 1: what's gonna make the edit and what's not gonna make
[46:29] Speaker 1: the edit just based on how long it takes to
[46:32] Speaker 1: tell that story interesting. And the shortest story they could
[46:35] Speaker 1: tell is laziness or overplaying. So I got Bud and
[46:40] Speaker 1: it was just a matter of.
[46:42] Speaker 7: Which one, which one looked good on team Yeah.
[46:44] Speaker 6: Well you talk about being seen as like overplaying, and
[46:47] Speaker 6: there's this moment right before you guys go to tribal
[46:50] Speaker 6: that I think shows exactly what kind of like like
[46:53] Speaker 6: a very good player you are.
[46:55] Speaker 3: So the edit tries to make you look silly. But
[46:57] Speaker 3: when we visit your guys' beach.
[46:58] Speaker 6: After the challenge, it's very clear that not only do
[47:01] Speaker 6: you know what's going on, but you're making strong strategic
[47:04] Speaker 6: moves to try to get out of the situation.
[47:08] Speaker 3: Right like you know that they set you up.
[47:10] Speaker 6: You tell Christina, hey, once I'm gone, you're next, and
[47:14] Speaker 6: they will throw a challenge to take you out.
[47:16] Speaker 3: So at that point, did you think, Hey, I might
[47:19] Speaker 3: be able to dig my way out of this with Christina.
[47:22] Speaker 1: If tribal council would have happened within that hour when
[47:27] Speaker 1: I made that pitch to Christina, JP would have went home.
[47:30] Speaker 7: Not even if within the hour of when I made
[47:34] Speaker 7: that pitch, I had it done.
[47:37] Speaker 1: But it wasn't. It was it was literally the day
[47:41] Speaker 1: of the challenge, you had the rest of the day,
[47:43] Speaker 1: and then the next day you had the whole day
[47:45] Speaker 1: until night time, and then tribal council.
[47:48] Speaker 7: That was way too much time.
[47:49] Speaker 1: And I think Survivor knows that or figured that out
[47:53] Speaker 1: along the way, that that's way too much time. And
[47:55] Speaker 1: so now they don't do that anymore. Now it's literally
[47:57] Speaker 1: the day the night of the challenge, they go to
[48:00] Speaker 1: tribal council and uh to cut out this this whole
[48:04] Speaker 1: problem of you you you work your way out of
[48:08] Speaker 1: the situation. The underdog is prevailing, and then it's just
[48:12] Speaker 1: too much sitting around and people contemplate and go, you
[48:16] Speaker 1: know what, we did all this work and now we're
[48:19] Speaker 1: not gonna go do with the plan. Let's just stick
[48:22] Speaker 1: with the plan.
[48:23] Speaker 3: Do you think you would have been able to pull
[48:25] Speaker 3: in Celia.
[48:26] Speaker 1: In that case, in that moment, if we'd have went
[48:29] Speaker 1: within that hour. Cecilia was so loyal to Christina that
[48:33] Speaker 1: Christina could have said vote Karmick defrog as you would
[48:36] Speaker 1: have put a cart down.
[48:41] Speaker 3: Doesn't deserve that.
[48:42] Speaker 6: Guys, before we voteut Kerma, we gotta catch him on fire, right,
[48:47] Speaker 6: he's gotta he's gotta get what's coming from before we
[48:49] Speaker 6: get to tribal I do want to talk really quickly
[48:51] Speaker 6: about you going to exile Island and just how much
[48:54] Speaker 6: better his clue was than Penners like gave it.
[49:01] Speaker 3: Figured that out, which I.
[49:02] Speaker 5: Mean maybe it goes to Chase's theory about we don't
[49:05] Speaker 5: want the Whities to win.
[49:07] Speaker 3: Maybe maybe that too, Yeah, can you speak to that?
[49:11] Speaker 3: Did you feel like this.
[49:14] Speaker 1: Behind the scenes well, first of all, before I answer
[49:16] Speaker 1: that question, let me include the more inside baseball here,
[49:20] Speaker 1: and that all of the tribes after the challenge would
[49:25] Speaker 1: hear the clue. You didn't just hear the get the
[49:28] Speaker 1: clue when you were at Exis Island. They would really
[49:32] Speaker 1: Jeff Propes would hand a sheet of paper to the
[49:35] Speaker 1: person being sent to Exile Island. They would read the
[49:38] Speaker 1: clue out loud, and then they would include the clue
[49:41] Speaker 1: and his binder, and then they would take the binder
[49:43] Speaker 1: with them to Exis Island, and so we all heard
[49:47] Speaker 1: the clue.
[49:49] Speaker 7: I agree with you at that second clue. I had
[49:52] Speaker 7: never been to I knew where it was.
[49:55] Speaker 1: I knew where it was.
[49:58] Speaker 3: I bet dude, that's crazy.
[50:03] Speaker 1: I think I think they they they had it in
[50:08] Speaker 1: for Penner. I think they had decided before the season
[50:11] Speaker 1: even started that Penner.
[50:12] Speaker 3: Was the villain. Really, which is which is?
[50:17] Speaker 1: Which is uh? Unfortunate because Peterer, I love Penner and
[50:22] Speaker 1: if you know we we we ever got to be
[50:25] Speaker 1: on the same tribe together. Out have totally been friends
[50:27] Speaker 1: with him. He is that cool of a human being.
[50:30] Speaker 1: But yeah, I think I think each one of us
[50:33] Speaker 1: they had an idea of exactly how we were going
[50:35] Speaker 1: to be portrayed out there. Uh, even though there was
[50:39] Speaker 1: conflict between some producers, and out of that conflict is
[50:43] Speaker 1: how Jeff Probes became executive producer because he was just
[50:47] Speaker 1: the host during this time.
[50:49] Speaker 7: But the conflict that was behind.
[50:51] Speaker 1: The scenes of no my guy, no, no my girl,
[50:54] Speaker 1: no my guy, that whole thing is how Jeff Probes
[50:57] Speaker 1: has sent it to the top. And so if you
[51:00] Speaker 1: look at all the media and Jeff Probe's uh take
[51:04] Speaker 1: on me, the previews like they always had me in
[51:07] Speaker 1: the middle of every picture, the tribe, picture, of the
[51:10] Speaker 1: cast picture, Jeff Prope Billy's gonna get really far. They
[51:13] Speaker 1: had big plans for me, and David Burris had an
[51:19] Speaker 1: under the table deal with with j. P. Calderon to
[51:22] Speaker 1: put JP Calderon on this AMC show called uh uh
[51:28] Speaker 1: modeling Agency. I'm getting the name of the woman that
[51:31] Speaker 1: Janice Dickinson's modeling agency. And he was put on billboards
[51:36] Speaker 1: for that show.
[51:36] Speaker 7: And everything he was. He was just on a few episodes.
[51:39] Speaker 1: So they had this big deal for him that Survivor
[51:42] Speaker 1: was gonna be his launching pad his reality TV career.
[51:47] Speaker 3: John Yeah, insane. That makes sense because the producers. A
[51:57] Speaker 3: lot of these people were did.
[51:58] Speaker 7: Yeah, it didn't work out for him because is to
[52:00] Speaker 7: be a big star, you have to have talent.
[52:03] Speaker 1: And a yeah.
[52:09] Speaker 4: And the cell baby, Oh my gosh, that's good stuff.
[52:14] Speaker 3: That's good stuff.
[52:15] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[52:15] Speaker 3: So I guess you go to tribal now the icon
[52:17] Speaker 3: the most iconic, one of the most iconic moments.
[52:21] Speaker 1: Yes, well, you gotta start out with Jeff Prope's basically
[52:27] Speaker 1: leading Christina on. Do you guys remember that where Jeff
[52:30] Speaker 1: Prope was like, hey, Christina, you seem the the have
[52:34] Speaker 1: feelings for Billy or whatever the exact words worth.
[52:37] Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, he was.
[52:38] Speaker 7: Trying to leave that on.
[52:40] Speaker 1: That's because behind the scenes I had been prepped the
[52:44] Speaker 1: the proclaim I love for Christina. So apparently I was
[52:48] Speaker 1: unaware of this, but apparently this was something that they
[52:50] Speaker 1: had planned for down the road, that me and Christina
[52:54] Speaker 1: was supposed to have a show man. But now that
[52:56] Speaker 1: I'm being eliminated, we gotta hurry up and make that happen. WHOA,
[53:00] Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't know. So I go up to
[53:03] Speaker 1: Christina before tribal Council and told her about this, and
[53:06] Speaker 1: she was like, absolutely not her planet. The fly under
[53:09] Speaker 1: the radar. She she does not want to spotlight. She
[53:12] Speaker 1: thinks she can get far. Do not do this, and
[53:16] Speaker 1: she was very adamant about it, like in like, you know.
[53:19] Speaker 7: She's a cop, she can handle herself, so you better
[53:21] Speaker 7: shut your undy type of way.
[53:24] Speaker 5: Not only were they we want this this person to
[53:27] Speaker 5: go far, but they're like, we want this person in
[53:29] Speaker 5: this person to be in a show mance.
[53:30] Speaker 3: That feels like a lot of meddling.
[53:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Well they cast personalities that they know will
[53:37] Speaker 1: mesh and no will not mesh, and no will mesh
[53:40] Speaker 1: in certain ways. We get these big psychological tests testing
[53:44] Speaker 1: that happens during the gas thing, and it's sure part
[53:48] Speaker 1: of it is to make sure that you don't commit
[53:49] Speaker 1: suicide out there because you've been rejected. But the other
[53:52] Speaker 1: part of it is because they basically want to know
[53:56] Speaker 1: exactly what's gonna happen so they could be at the
[53:58] Speaker 1: right place at the right time. They you know, the
[54:02] Speaker 1: the as big as the crew is out there, they're
[54:05] Speaker 1: not omnipresent. They have to know basically what to expect
[54:08] Speaker 1: so they can be there already. They could be there
[54:11] Speaker 1: with cameras, with microphones, they can have hidden cameras set up,
[54:14] Speaker 1: hidden microphones, set up Yeah, for for that to happen,
[54:17] Speaker 1: they have to have an idea what's what's gonna happen,
[54:20] Speaker 1: when it's gonna happen, and where it's gonna happen, and uh,
[54:24] Speaker 1: instead of instead of looking down at them and saying, oh,
[54:27] Speaker 1: it's a work, No, it's it's it's it's it's a shoot.
[54:31] Speaker 1: But it's a shoot that they know so much about us,
[54:33] Speaker 1: that's simply by putting us together they know exactly how
[54:36] Speaker 1: it's gonna go. Yeah.
[54:42] Speaker 5: I was about to say, do you know how happy
[54:43] Speaker 5: it makes me to hear somebody work to work work
[54:45] Speaker 5: and shoot into us?
[54:46] Speaker 4: And so at what point did you, Billy, did you
[54:51] Speaker 4: pivot and go, well, I I'm not gonna profess my love, uh, Christina,
[54:57] Speaker 4: I'll pivot and profess my life for Candice, even though
[55:01] Speaker 4: like you knew that you meant I love you and
[55:05] Speaker 4: talking about the group. But I guess at some point
[55:08] Speaker 4: you were like, I guess I'll use this and I'll
[55:10] Speaker 4: pivot it. Like what was your thought process there? Because
[55:14] Speaker 4: it makes for great TV and it makes it seem
[55:16] Speaker 4: like you're really quick on your feet.
[55:18] Speaker 1: It does. I was in the middle of talking about
[55:21] Speaker 1: my how rebellious I am and how anti established, anti
[55:26] Speaker 1: establishment I am. As I'm saying all this, Jeff Probs
[55:29] Speaker 1: is like shaking his head, no, like, don't say any
[55:32] Speaker 1: of this, either because it's not going to be used
[55:35] Speaker 1: or because it's not good for for my character on
[55:38] Speaker 1: TV or whatever. And so as he's shaking his head, no,
[55:42] Speaker 1: you can hear me, I hit a dead stop in
[55:44] Speaker 1: the middle of my sentence, and then that's when I.
[55:47] Speaker 7: Had the do you know what, I don't care about
[55:50] Speaker 7: this moment?
[55:51] Speaker 1: And I was like, as a after rebellion, my prize
[55:55] Speaker 1: isn't even a million dollars. And then you hear me
[55:57] Speaker 1: stutter because I'm making all this up as it's coming
[56:03] Speaker 1: to mind. I stutter when my words don't exist in
[56:06] Speaker 1: my head yet, when my mouth is ahead of my head.
[56:09] Speaker 1: And so I was stuttering trying to come up with somebody,
[56:14] Speaker 1: and then that's when it hit me that I had
[56:16] Speaker 1: this conversation with Candace. And so that's when I threw
[56:18] Speaker 1: the name Cannas out there, and Jeff.
[56:22] Speaker 5: Put his hand up to his mouth and then I
[56:25] Speaker 5: rewound it, you know, several times, because first I saw,
[56:28] Speaker 5: you know, it was you saying it, and then then
[56:30] Speaker 5: I know Jeff's reaction, and then I noticed I think
[56:33] Speaker 5: it was Cecilia.
[56:34] Speaker 3: She also had quite the reaction to it as well. Yeah,
[56:37] Speaker 3: well she was.
[56:38] Speaker 1: She and Christina were reacting to Jeff and Jeff was
[56:41] Speaker 1: reacting to me. So that was that was the domino effect.
[56:45] Speaker 6: My favorite part is done. Jeff goes, are you being
[56:49] Speaker 6: sincere right now?
[56:51] Speaker 3: And you.
[56:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, Well see that was a throwback to something I
[56:58] Speaker 1: thought was gonna be okay, And that's I used to
[57:02] Speaker 1: I used to tell a lot of jokes out there,
[57:04] Speaker 1: and some of them were really bad dad jobs, and.
[57:10] Speaker 7: Ozzie's way of reacting to like this is corny.
[57:14] Speaker 1: It was to say are you serious? And then I
[57:17] Speaker 1: would I would respond with part of the part of
[57:22] Speaker 1: the joke. Ye just added to the punchline. So I
[57:25] Speaker 1: thought this was gonna make the edit. When I said,
[57:27] Speaker 1: I'm thinking so, I thought we were doing that bit
[57:31] Speaker 1: between me.
[57:32] Speaker 5: And Jeff, it becomes this like top ten all time
[57:35] Speaker 5: Survivor moment that nobody can forget.
[57:38] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[57:38] Speaker 1: Well, I've set for nineteen years now that Survivors editors
[57:43] Speaker 1: should win the Emmy for Reality TV Editing every year
[57:48] Speaker 1: because what they do is nothing short of magic. How
[57:51] Speaker 1: they're able to craft the story even when they they
[57:56] Speaker 1: they made a oopsie and they weren't in the right
[57:58] Speaker 1: place at the right time. Somehow they're able to frank it,
[58:02] Speaker 1: edit a confessional and narrated anyways. So they they are
[58:07] Speaker 1: so good at what they do that to me, they're
[58:12] Speaker 1: the star of the show every season.
[58:14] Speaker 3: Nice.
[58:15] Speaker 4: Now, I know, like, obviously some things have changed. You
[58:18] Speaker 4: mentioned Jeff's now EP and show it like they don't
[58:23] Speaker 4: recruit people anymore.
[58:24] Speaker 3: It's all kind of this audition based stuff.
[58:27] Speaker 4: Are you able to watch Survivor knowing so much about
[58:32] Speaker 4: how the sausage is made even though some stuff has changed?
[58:35] Speaker 4: Are you able to still watch it and be like
[58:37] Speaker 4: as glued to it as we are or does it
[58:40] Speaker 4: enhance your viewing of it? How do you like still
[58:42] Speaker 4: handle watching the show knowing what you know?
[58:46] Speaker 1: Well, first of all, I've never missed wow ever, dating
[58:49] Speaker 1: back to the first Survivor episode.
[58:51] Speaker 7: Yeah, so never missed an episode.
[58:54] Speaker 1: And I meet a crap like out of the seven
[58:59] Speaker 1: hundred plus I've had to have met close if not
[59:03] Speaker 1: sarpastics under already, So I meet so many that when
[59:08] Speaker 1: I'm watching this, I'm watching this knowing that I'm gonna
[59:10] Speaker 1: meet them, or at least so many of them, And yeah,
[59:15] Speaker 1: I could pick up on certain things, and then there
[59:18] Speaker 1: are other things that you know, quite frankly, Survivor editors
[59:22] Speaker 1: have gotten.
[59:22] Speaker 3: So good at that even I can't see it.
[59:24] Speaker 1: And I have to be told by the people that
[59:26] Speaker 1: were there. They have to tell me no, no, no,
[59:29] Speaker 1: that didn't happen in that order. This part happened first, actually,
[59:32] Speaker 1: and then that other part happened. I'm like, god it
[59:36] Speaker 1: so yeah, but yeah, it's great to meet the people
[59:43] Speaker 1: and actually hear all the behind the scenes stuff here
[59:46] Speaker 1: their perspective, because sometimes it is just a matter of
[59:49] Speaker 1: of point of view.
[59:52] Speaker 2: Uh.
[59:52] Speaker 1: And uh, you know that old Obi Wan saying the truth,
[59:57] Speaker 1: It was the truth by according to a certain point
[59:59] Speaker 1: of you. I probably watched that.
[1:00:01] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but I know.
[1:00:05] Speaker 5: You're talking about like I can see the Wan and
[1:00:07] Speaker 5: the the lava planet right now.
[1:00:11] Speaker 1: You lied to me after he told him his father
[1:00:13] Speaker 1: killed killed, you know, was killed, but Darth Vader, that
[1:00:16] Speaker 1: Darth Vader is his father. To me, what I told
[1:00:19] Speaker 1: you was true, Okay, yeah, so and so that is
[1:00:27] Speaker 1: every Survivor that's ever played. So there the truth is
[1:00:31] Speaker 1: actually points of view, and the winner is the point
[1:00:35] Speaker 1: of view you get to see the edit interesting And
[1:00:39] Speaker 1: so now meeting past survivors get real.
[1:00:43] Speaker 4: Now as somebody who uh played what would be considered
[1:00:47] Speaker 4: old school Survivor, there are a lot of like Survivor
[1:00:51] Speaker 4: mega fans are like new school Survivor that the that
[1:00:54] Speaker 4: doesn't count, it's not real, it's dumb, Like what what
[1:00:58] Speaker 4: are your thoughts on that? And how the game is
[1:00:59] Speaker 4: kind have evolved over time less days? Uh, stuff like that,
[1:01:03] Speaker 4: like how how do you feel the game has evolved?
[1:01:06] Speaker 1: Well, first of all, everybody that's played the old school
[1:01:09] Speaker 1: will tell you that the first six days, first six
[1:01:12] Speaker 1: to eight days are physically brutal because your metabolism does
[1:01:16] Speaker 1: a belly flop, like you're in a new climate, You're
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: you're well a bunch. I have to get into it
[1:01:22] Speaker 1: and ruin it for Survivor because they like those belly
[1:01:24] Speaker 1: flops of they like seeing people throw up and look sickly.
[1:01:29] Speaker 1: And then the person, the person who who struggles the
[1:01:34] Speaker 1: least when it comes to that that whole change of
[1:01:37] Speaker 1: metabolism is the person that looks like an all star
[1:01:39] Speaker 1: right from the get go. They make everybody else look
[1:01:42] Speaker 1: like the standing still. And that was the secret sauce
[1:01:45] Speaker 1: to Ozzie's success is that he spent so much time
[1:01:47] Speaker 1: as a surfer outside that his metabolism was completely unaffected.
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: Oh so everybody did have to go without weed. I'm
[1:01:54] Speaker 3: sure that.
[1:01:55] Speaker 1: Having said that, that dude and no lie, that dude
[1:02:01] Speaker 1: could look at a leaf and tell you what plant is.
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: What.
[1:02:03] Speaker 1: Well, I was like about to start fire, and he
[1:02:06] Speaker 1: looked at the leaf, he goes, this, this is hibiscus.
[1:02:09] Speaker 1: This is what you want to start fire. And I
[1:02:11] Speaker 1: looked at the leaf and I go, how do you
[1:02:13] Speaker 1: tell this leaf from this other leaf? And boy did
[1:02:16] Speaker 1: I regret asking that question. He's he turned the leafs
[1:02:19] Speaker 1: around and look at the pain. Look at these days
[1:02:21] Speaker 1: go this way and they're this color and.
[1:02:23] Speaker 3: Even yeah, climb, he was born to play. And I
[1:02:29] Speaker 3: just want to say, my favorite Survivor player of all time.
[1:02:31] Speaker 7: Yeah no really, wow, he's odd. He's his favorite somebody.
[1:02:37] Speaker 3: So much, at least the two people who think so fantastic.
[1:02:42] Speaker 7: Yeah right, so so yeah, to answer your question, what
[1:02:46] Speaker 7: do I think a modern survivor.
[1:02:47] Speaker 1: Some of as it exists? What I what I I
[1:02:51] Speaker 1: really love is that the episodes are ninety minutes because
[1:02:54] Speaker 1: with these ninety minute episodes there's less behind the scenes
[1:02:57] Speaker 1: and more made to edit.
[1:02:59] Speaker 7: So I would I would prefer that, and the people
[1:03:02] Speaker 7: that was like, oh ninety minutes or too long, I'm
[1:03:04] Speaker 7: like you fake?
[1:03:05] Speaker 5: Hell yeah, Well, Billy, I have an interesting question, who
[1:03:09] Speaker 5: is your favorite Survivor player?
[1:03:11] Speaker 1: Well, going into Survivor Cook Islands, that answer was very
[1:03:15] Speaker 1: different coming out of Survivor Cook Islands. So going into
[1:03:18] Speaker 1: Survivor Cook Islands, Uh, my favorite player was actually Rob
[1:03:22] Speaker 1: c Robino okay, And I tried to be Yeah, I
[1:03:27] Speaker 1: tried to be a bit of a no no the
[1:03:30] Speaker 1: game will kind of.
[1:03:30] Speaker 3: Player like he was Amazonian horn Dog.
[1:03:35] Speaker 1: My season was just not the right season before that
[1:03:37] Speaker 1: for that game style, that gameplay style coming out of
[1:03:40] Speaker 1: Survivor Cook Islands. And to this day, my favorite player
[1:03:43] Speaker 1: is Hno.
[1:03:45] Speaker 3: He's a great one.
[1:03:46] Speaker 7: He's the kind of guy that could talk a tree.
[1:03:49] Speaker 3: It is your favorite show than Nanny?
[1:03:52] Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, my favorite movie is not a no but
[1:03:58] Speaker 1: or down Paris. And he also didn't write the Watching
[1:04:03] Speaker 1: the Yelly you got the name wrong?
[1:04:05] Speaker 6: Well that I think John's been either directed or wrote
[1:04:08] Speaker 6: that horror movie from twenty sixteen, The Bye Bye Man.
[1:04:11] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, well he's talented. He's talented.
[1:04:13] Speaker 7: There was a time, way back in the day when
[1:04:15] Speaker 7: we first came off Survivor.
[1:04:17] Speaker 1: Where he and I used to email each other and
[1:04:21] Speaker 1: uh and uh, I had my ideas for for a
[1:04:25] Speaker 1: horror movie and uh he was he was mostly known
[1:04:28] Speaker 1: for comedy stuff up to that point.
[1:04:31] Speaker 7: So I'd like to think that those emails might have.
[1:04:36] Speaker 2: There.
[1:04:37] Speaker 7: I like that at least got him looking at that direction.
[1:04:40] Speaker 3: Fantastic. This has been so much fun. This has been
[1:04:43] Speaker 3: so much fun.
[1:04:43] Speaker 4: I don't want to cut Does anybody have any other
[1:04:45] Speaker 4: Billy questions?
[1:04:46] Speaker 2: Now?
[1:04:46] Speaker 5: I don't want to take up any more of Billy's time.
[1:04:49] Speaker 5: He's he's gracious enough to do an hour and tim
[1:04:51] Speaker 5: with us.
[1:04:51] Speaker 4: Belly, When are you gonna come play a show in Greenville,
[1:04:53] Speaker 4: South Carolina?
[1:04:54] Speaker 1: Can we come see you? Wow? Yeah, Well of course
[1:04:56] Speaker 1: you could always come see me. Yeah. I'm trying to
[1:05:00] Speaker 1: get my band the finished working on his fourth album,
[1:05:04] Speaker 1: that We that has been kind of in stasis for
[1:05:07] Speaker 1: a little bit. We we kind of hit a creative
[1:05:10] Speaker 1: rut maybe and a little bit of lineup difficulty, and
[1:05:13] Speaker 1: that our drummer left and so uh yeah, so we're
[1:05:18] Speaker 1: trying to get it done anyways, but as soon as
[1:05:21] Speaker 1: we get it done and we'll start the shows.
[1:05:23] Speaker 7: And uh yeah, I love the Carolinas.
[1:05:27] Speaker 4: So I can't wait to come back next week guys,
[1:05:34] Speaker 4: and talking about episode three.
[1:05:36] Speaker 6: Yes, thank you so much, Billy for being here with us.
[1:05:39] Speaker 6: Been a ton of fun. Hey, keep your pants from
[1:05:41] Speaker 6: being on five.
[1:05:44] Speaker 7: I will do that.
[1:05:45] Speaker 1: And uh a little inside note, A little inside note.
[1:05:49] Speaker 1: That third episode you're about to watch is the first
[1:05:53] Speaker 1: time in Survivor history up to that point that eliminated
[1:05:56] Speaker 1: player was a focal point of at least third of the.
[1:06:00] Speaker 3: I'm looking forward to rewatching. All right, all right, it's
[1:06:02] Speaker 3: gonna be a fun one.
[1:06:03] Speaker 5: It's a weekend. But at least I got one Queen
[1:06:06] Speaker 5: Ballard line. I had to get that in there somewhere.
[1:06:11] Speaker 4: A lot of all right, thank you, Billy, appreciate it, man,
[1:06:16] Speaker 4: Thank you for having me on. Thanks for listening, or
[1:06:19] Speaker 4: don't listen. It's really up to you at this point.
[1:06:22] Speaker 4: It's at the end of the show. I mean, you're
[1:06:24] Speaker 4: listening to me. Hi, But here they come. I promised
[1:06:27] Speaker 4: they're coming. Yep, here they are. Happy Days
[1:07:06] Speaker 5: Attatatatatas
