[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome to Making the Merge. Everybody. We are talking about
[0:03] Speaker 1: the season forty seven finale. I am p D. Bachmann,
[0:07] Speaker 1: and we have a full cast today. We have Jonathan Wright,
[0:11] Speaker 1: Kristin Wright, and the new champion of Making the Merge.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Everybody give it up for Chase bridges Go.
[0:21] Speaker 2: The curse is uplifted from at least one of us.
[0:29] Speaker 1: Why don't you give us a winner speech? Chase, I
[0:33] Speaker 1: don't know.
[0:33] Speaker 3: I don't know if everybody out there listening knows the
[0:36] Speaker 3: history of the show.
[0:38] Speaker 4: I know we just started the podcast this season, but
[0:43] Speaker 4: if you go back, if you go back to when
[0:45] Speaker 4: me and p D started this thing, PD won the
[0:47] Speaker 4: first time we did it. PD won the second time
[0:50] Speaker 4: we did it, and.
[0:51] Speaker 5: Then we brought on Kristen and Jonathan, and then Kristen
[0:54] Speaker 5: won that time that we did it, and then now
[0:57] Speaker 5: it's time for this season.
[0:59] Speaker 3: And I feel like me a Survivor super fan.
[1:02] Speaker 5: I've seen every single episode of Survivor, and I've been fighting,
[1:06] Speaker 5: and I've.
[1:07] Speaker 3: Been clawing, and I've been digging, and I've been trying.
[1:10] Speaker 5: I got dirt on my face like soup because I've
[1:12] Speaker 5: been digging through the dirt, trying to be the making
[1:16] Speaker 5: the Merged Survivor Fantasy Champion, and finally, finally the trophy.
[1:23] Speaker 3: Has come home to Chase Bridges.
[1:28] Speaker 1: Wow, amazing. It's gotta give it up, you know, Chase,
[1:32] Speaker 1: it seemed like it was all over for him when
[1:34] Speaker 1: Saul went home. He was left with one player and
[1:37] Speaker 1: then that player ran the table.
[1:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, that I mean, what a crazy season. And
[1:42] Speaker 3: I know this, So this episode correct me if I'm wrong. PD.
[1:46] Speaker 3: This is just about kind of the recap of the finale,
[1:49] Speaker 3: and then next week we're gonna do a whole season recap.
[1:53] Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, next week we are gonna go through pick
[1:56] Speaker 1: by pick of our draft and I'm gonna write down
[1:59] Speaker 1: every horrible that we had, and there were many, So
[2:04] Speaker 1: I don't want to.
[2:04] Speaker 3: I don't want to talk too much about the entirety
[2:06] Speaker 3: of the season because we could do that next week.
[2:08] Speaker 3: But I doesn't want to say that. You know, when
[2:11] Speaker 3: Saul was my number one guy, and when Saul went home,
[2:16] Speaker 3: I really did think it was over and I gave up,
[2:18] Speaker 3: and then Rachel really just became one of the greatest
[2:22] Speaker 3: Survivor winners of all time in my opinion.
[2:25] Speaker 1: I agree.
[2:25] Speaker 2: I was telling Kristen as we were watching it, I
[2:28] Speaker 2: was like, she's got the cleanest resume I've seen in
[2:31] Speaker 2: a long time, to the point where I was so
[2:36] Speaker 2: unsurprised that she won, Like and Chady Chady, Wow, Hady,
[2:43] Speaker 2: that's just couple's name. Chase, I texted you how many
[2:47] Speaker 2: times this said, like, you're gonna win?
[2:49] Speaker 3: Right, So did PD. Everyone was and I was so
[2:51] Speaker 3: scared that you guys were just gonna like jinx it
[2:54] Speaker 3: for you.
[2:55] Speaker 1: And Chase is doing this BS where he's like, I
[2:57] Speaker 1: don't know, guys, you know, it might not be me.
[3:00] Speaker 1: Might have it, Yeah, Sue might have it. Sam might
[3:03] Speaker 1: have it, Teeny might have it. Oh you know, I
[3:04] Speaker 1: just have little old Rachel.
[3:06] Speaker 3: I mean, it wasn't like, you know, it wasn't that
[3:10] Speaker 3: clean cut though, Like as we go through this episode,
[3:12] Speaker 3: like we will hear like it wasn't super clean cut.
[3:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, totally. I mean, for what it seemed like a
[3:17] Speaker 1: foregone conclusion. But then there was so much drama in
[3:20] Speaker 1: this episode despite that. Yeah, so let's get into it.
[3:26] Speaker 1: You know. The first thing we got in this finale
[3:28] Speaker 1: was monologue Jeff once again, but this time was different.
[3:32] Speaker 1: It wasn't like last week where he was like this
[3:34] Speaker 1: is everyone's path to win. This time, he ran through
[3:36] Speaker 1: all of Rachel's accolades. The gist of the speech was, man,
[3:39] Speaker 1: Rachel's awesome, but there are other people here too.
[3:46] Speaker 2: It was for sure not as detailed as the previous week.
[3:49] Speaker 2: Like I mean, it really was kind of like, Okay,
[3:52] Speaker 2: this feels as if it is giving away who the
[3:55] Speaker 2: main character is.
[3:58] Speaker 6: You're all thinking it.
[3:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, we were all thinking that, Oh, Kristen's here. I
[4:02] Speaker 2: almost forgot. I'm not so used to her not being
[4:04] Speaker 2: here and her voice jump skin and the.
[4:06] Speaker 3: Baby is here.
[4:08] Speaker 6: The baby's here.
[4:09] Speaker 2: She doesn't have as much to say.
[4:11] Speaker 6: Member of our podcast.
[4:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, if and if we could make sure
[4:15] Speaker 1: the baby does not removed the pop filter from the
[4:18] Speaker 1: microphone on this episode, and it was to listen to
[4:24] Speaker 1: that isolated it was jarring.
[4:28] Speaker 2: We aim for only the highest quality standards, which is
[4:31] Speaker 2: why we still don't have a theme song for this podcast.
[4:34] Speaker 2: But anyway, yeah, this episode, I kind of want to
[4:40] Speaker 2: go real quick. I want to break this down and
[4:43] Speaker 2: say I wasn't sure how I would enjoy this episode,
[4:47] Speaker 2: mainly because I got a bone to pick with PD. Basically,
[4:51] Speaker 2: Chase is like I'm watching live PD is like, I'm
[4:54] Speaker 2: not able to watch live tonight, and I say, Kristin
[4:57] Speaker 2: and I are going to try to watch live.
[5:00] Speaker 6: So I actually said I'm not gonna watch live. This
[5:04] Speaker 6: is true earlier in the chat.
[5:05] Speaker 2: So there was some confusion as to who was watching
[5:09] Speaker 2: live to which then uh, you know, we report into Chase,
[5:13] Speaker 2: who is texting us about watching live, and I say, hey,
[5:16] Speaker 2: we're not We're not doing it. We're not able to
[5:18] Speaker 2: make it happen. And a few hours later we get
[5:22] Speaker 2: a lovely text from PD to the group text that
[5:25] Speaker 2: says congrats Chase, which it can only mean one thing.
[5:32] Speaker 2: So I was nervous going in, thinking, man, I've had
[5:35] Speaker 2: this whole episode spoiled. Will I still have fun watching it?
[5:39] Speaker 2: And I did so it was still very enjoyable, even
[5:42] Speaker 2: though PD ruined it for us well.
[5:45] Speaker 6: And despite knowing the outcome, I still found myself like
[5:49] Speaker 6: on edge during the challenge.
[5:51] Speaker 4: It.
[5:51] Speaker 1: Well, the last thing I saw in that chat, you know,
[5:54] Speaker 1: to make me not totally the villain here, is that
[5:57] Speaker 1: it said Jonathan was like, yeah, I'm watching. That was
[6:00] Speaker 1: the last thing I saw, So in my head, everyone
[6:03] Speaker 1: was watching because when Jonathan watches, Kristen watches about it.
[6:07] Speaker 2: I think that the moment that I texted Chase, he
[6:10] Speaker 2: should have clarified in the group chat. That's what I'm thinking.
[6:13] Speaker 3: Well, you know so, because here's the thing too, is
[6:15] Speaker 3: like you started the no PD chat and you said welcome,
[6:19] Speaker 3: and then like two minutes later, you're like, we're not
[6:21] Speaker 3: watching live.
[6:22] Speaker 1: Why you had to stop watching was because Lizzie couldn't sleep?
[6:25] Speaker 1: Is that right?
[6:26] Speaker 2: She wouldn't.
[6:27] Speaker 1: Why can't you guys multitask that's my question?
[6:30] Speaker 2: Yes, a great question.
[6:31] Speaker 3: Can't you watch the TV?
[6:33] Speaker 1: Like?
[6:33] Speaker 3: Are you guys just staring at a non sleeping baby, like, well, it's.
[6:36] Speaker 1: Kind of hard.
[6:37] Speaker 2: I will say, it's kind of difficult to put Lizzie
[6:39] Speaker 2: to sleep when she looks and at Sue on our television.
[6:42] Speaker 2: String like there is something counteract.
[6:47] Speaker 1: That is a valid answer to that.
[6:50] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[6:50] Speaker 2: Yeah. In fact, Lizzie's first word the other day was dirt,
[6:53] Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, okay.
[6:57] Speaker 1: I thought it would be I hate Kyle.
[6:59] Speaker 2: Oh but anyway, guys, right, I forgive you.
[7:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, enough about me spoiling the episode for Jonathan because
[7:08] Speaker 1: I wasn't updated. Let's let's get into the challenge now.
[7:12] Speaker 1: And I love this clip from Jeff, this.
[7:17] Speaker 7: Is what stands between you and a million dollars four
[7:21] Speaker 7: big smiles.
[7:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's scared.
[7:26] Speaker 7: They should be.
[7:30] Speaker 1: Got a little bit of villain Jeff there, they should, Yeah.
[7:36] Speaker 2: Which is kind of nice. I feel like Jeff's kind
[7:37] Speaker 2: of been a sweetie pie for a couple of seasons,
[7:40] Speaker 2: and I don't know, sometimes when that evil Jeff comes
[7:43] Speaker 2: back through, it's it's almost refreshing.
[7:46] Speaker 3: It is nice.
[7:47] Speaker 1: And you know what he made them do to start
[7:48] Speaker 1: this challenge. He made them crawl through mud. His favorite
[7:51] Speaker 1: thing to do.
[7:52] Speaker 3: In the world.
[7:53] Speaker 1: He said, a lot of a net and some mud. And
[7:56] Speaker 1: you know, there are a lot of steps to this challenge,
[7:58] Speaker 1: but I want to skip to the letter scramble part
[8:02] Speaker 1: where Rachel's struggling with it and then Sam gets through.
[8:06] Speaker 1: I think Sam was the last person to get to
[8:08] Speaker 1: that portion and he just gets it instantly. The clue
[8:11] Speaker 1: that they had was it's what you need to do, which.
[8:15] Speaker 2: As soon as I saw it, I was thinking unlock.
[8:19] Speaker 1: It was.
[8:21] Speaker 2: I That was one of the few moments watching Survivor
[8:24] Speaker 2: where I was like, yeah, I got that, I could
[8:27] Speaker 2: do that. Yeah, Teeny also leapt. I don't know if
[8:31] Speaker 2: y'all notice that, but like she she jumped in the
[8:35] Speaker 2: air to see Rachel's puzzle. It was very it was
[8:39] Speaker 2: almost endearing. It was like a nice little gazelle leap.
[8:45] Speaker 1: And speaking of Teeny, after you do the scramble, you
[8:48] Speaker 1: get a machete and you have to chop a piece
[8:51] Speaker 1: of group, which was not a problem for the three
[8:53] Speaker 1: other people, but Teeny had a hard.
[8:56] Speaker 6: Time level situation.
[8:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's true.
[9:00] Speaker 1: I feel like Andy would have been hacking at that
[9:02] Speaker 1: thing with like fire in his eyes.
[9:04] Speaker 8: Yeah.
[9:05] Speaker 2: He would have also been hacking at it via his waist.
[9:08] Speaker 1: He would have been thrust Yeah, yeah, he would have
[9:10] Speaker 1: been thrust.
[9:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, we would have had another TikTok clip.
[9:14] Speaker 3: Uh.
[9:14] Speaker 2: Sam hit once and got all the way through the rope,
[9:18] Speaker 2: which was crazy killer.
[9:19] Speaker 1: I thought that was a and then he bolted to
[9:23] Speaker 1: the puzzle and it seemed like, you know what, maybe
[9:25] Speaker 1: Sam can do this because going into the episode, we
[9:27] Speaker 1: were all thinking this is where the drama is. The
[9:30] Speaker 1: drama is like does Rachel have to make fire or
[9:33] Speaker 1: does she just skate through? And then the answer is no,
[9:38] Speaker 1: no fire. Sam gave it his all, but he could
[9:41] Speaker 1: not beat the puzzle.
[9:42] Speaker 3: God.
[9:43] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I.
[9:44] Speaker 3: Mean this was like a very almost ceremonial win for Rachel. Like,
[9:50] Speaker 3: not only did it mean that she did not have
[9:52] Speaker 3: to make fire, she you know, guaranteed a spot in
[9:55] Speaker 3: the final three. Essentially, you know, if you look at
[9:58] Speaker 3: the people with her, essentially that winning that challenge essentially
[10:02] Speaker 3: just meant she wont she won the.
[10:03] Speaker 2: Whole she won the show.
[10:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, but also she joins, as they kept repeating several times,
[10:08] Speaker 3: she has joined a very limited amount of people. I
[10:13] Speaker 3: think I think she's the fifth woman to win five challenges?
[10:17] Speaker 3: Is that four challenges?
[10:18] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[10:20] Speaker 3: Uh in a season of Surved, which I thought was crazy,
[10:23] Speaker 3: and forty seven seasons, only five women have won four challenges.
[10:27] Speaker 3: I was.
[10:28] Speaker 2: I was a little shocked by that stat too. I
[10:30] Speaker 2: would have thought it was significantly more. Yeah, but yeah,
[10:34] Speaker 2: I mean she was. She was so impressive because she
[10:37] Speaker 2: kind of came out of nowhere with those challenges.
[10:39] Speaker 3: Yeah. Second half of the season, end of the season yeaeah.
[10:43] Speaker 1: But we did know from the beginning of the season
[10:46] Speaker 1: that like her and Honka were a puzzled dream team.
[10:49] Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, that's true. I forgot about Honica. Sorry, when
[10:53] Speaker 2: they get voted out, they're dead to me.
[10:54] Speaker 1: That's what I said. But so your entire team is
[11:00] Speaker 1: dead to you.
[11:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, they all they're all yeah, everybody that was just
[11:04] Speaker 2: too quick PD. I can't I'm still not recovering, but.
[11:06] Speaker 1: Everyone's chilling in the water post challenge, and Rachel does
[11:10] Speaker 1: not beat around the bush. She's like, you know, I'm
[11:12] Speaker 1: taking Sue, my biggest ally and Teeny and Sam you
[11:16] Speaker 1: two have to make fire.
[11:19] Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean she basically was like, I'm taking somebody
[11:22] Speaker 2: that's been nice to me the whole time that I
[11:24] Speaker 2: know I can beat, Like, yeah.
[11:28] Speaker 6: That part on that was just a given. Yeah, I
[11:30] Speaker 6: mean that worked out for her. You know, she's able
[11:33] Speaker 6: to be admirable and also still take somebody that she's.
[11:36] Speaker 1: Going to beat.
[11:37] Speaker 3: Yeah. I think I think she can say that it
[11:39] Speaker 3: was because of the loyalty all she wants. I think
[11:41] Speaker 3: she just knew like Sue wasn't going to beat Sam
[11:45] Speaker 3: and fire making, and she really did not want Sam
[11:48] Speaker 3: in that final three because if she was against Teeny,
[11:51] Speaker 3: I mean, you know, not to jump ahead, but like
[11:53] Speaker 3: it was already a cake walk, but it would have
[11:54] Speaker 3: been really a cake walk against Sue.
[11:56] Speaker 1: Sue is around the fire the whole game, though. I
[11:59] Speaker 1: feel like, maybe so you have some fire experience.
[12:02] Speaker 6: She even said that she thought she could beat Sam
[12:06] Speaker 6: because Sam didn't nobody was doing.
[12:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, Sam had never did in practice.
[12:10] Speaker 3: That was a really funny segment.
[12:12] Speaker 1: What do you think about Sam and TEENI in the
[12:14] Speaker 1: water though, Like when Sam's like, you're gonna let me
[12:17] Speaker 1: make fire?
[12:19] Speaker 3: Dude? Oh yes, there's a lot of times where Teeny
[12:22] Speaker 3: crashes out about Sam, and I don't think it's completely justified.
[12:25] Speaker 3: The way that he said, yeah, I feel was completely justified.
[12:28] Speaker 3: You're gonna let me make fire?
[12:31] Speaker 2: Yeah it was. That was like the most arrogant vibe
[12:35] Speaker 2: he had the whole season.
[12:36] Speaker 1: It was that sentence. Oh really, I loved it. I
[12:39] Speaker 1: was like Teeny was the one who was in the
[12:41] Speaker 1: wrong because she didn't like bring it back harder to
[12:45] Speaker 1: Sam was in the wrong.
[12:48] Speaker 3: Wrong.
[12:49] Speaker 1: I'm just saying that when somebody trash talks, you should
[12:53] Speaker 1: respond with more trash talk. Now arrogant?
[12:58] Speaker 2: Well it it. I don't know that his came across
[13:01] Speaker 2: even like trash talk as much as it came across
[13:05] Speaker 2: like oh really, like that's what you think. It wasn't
[13:08] Speaker 2: like a playful jab. It felt very passive, but not
[13:13] Speaker 2: in like a It felt arrogant.
[13:15] Speaker 3: It felt like he didn't like he wasn't making a joke,
[13:18] Speaker 3: like he didn't mean to be rude, like he truly
[13:20] Speaker 3: meant it his.
[13:20] Speaker 1: How cocky, and I didn't see that as a bad thing.
[13:25] Speaker 3: We're gonna get to like when we get later in
[13:27] Speaker 3: the episode. I have a lot of feelings about Sam,
[13:30] Speaker 3: and so I might be I might be feeling a
[13:32] Speaker 3: little like I might be jumping the gun a little
[13:34] Speaker 3: bit at this part of the episode with me.
[13:37] Speaker 2: I have some feelings about how he handled tribal but
[13:40] Speaker 2: I've just got a lot of feelings in general. Well,
[13:43] Speaker 2: probably feelings of victory because you just destroyed us off.
[13:45] Speaker 3: But you know, we.
[13:47] Speaker 6: Should just have an episode of all of Chase's feelings.
[13:53] Speaker 3: Yeah, she could be my therapist and then like lock
[13:55] Speaker 3: me up.
[13:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm in the facility.
[14:00] Speaker 2: Yeah, continue PD.
[14:02] Speaker 1: To Rachel wants Teeny to win, and Rachel is actively
[14:06] Speaker 1: helping Teeny learn how to make fire because Sam is struggling,
[14:09] Speaker 1: like to the point of tears, because it turns out
[14:12] Speaker 1: when he said he had never made a fire in
[14:13] Speaker 1: his life, he wasn't lying despite looking so cocky in
[14:16] Speaker 1: the water, and to quote Sue, he's not good. It's pathetic.
[14:20] Speaker 1: He's gonna look like an idiot. I would have beaten Sam.
[14:24] Speaker 2: I do you think that his arrogance in the water
[14:28] Speaker 2: was to try to get out of fire making.
[14:31] Speaker 6: I think that could have.
[14:32] Speaker 2: Been like where he was just like, oh, you want
[14:34] Speaker 2: me to make fire, just plant a.
[14:36] Speaker 6: Little bit of doubt in there about it.
[14:38] Speaker 1: I don't think so. I think that he was genuinely
[14:42] Speaker 1: everything we're saying, because everything you say is wrong. Wow.
[14:49] Speaker 2: Wait, so when since when was I agree with Chase
[14:52] Speaker 2: and you were the one being mean to be PD?
[14:55] Speaker 1: Like what happened?
[14:56] Speaker 2: He's just one win and you get a loss and
[14:59] Speaker 2: suddenly the tables and completely turt.
[15:02] Speaker 1: I think he was being so cocky and he wanted
[15:05] Speaker 1: this like he wanted to have something because he lost
[15:08] Speaker 1: the Final Immunity Challenge and there's like there's no resume
[15:12] Speaker 1: builder left in the game. So I think he definitely
[15:14] Speaker 1: wanted to go into fire and then he was being
[15:17] Speaker 1: so cocky because he had not practiced yet and he
[15:19] Speaker 1: didn't know how terrible he was at it.
[15:21] Speaker 2: M Yeah, honestly, guys, I think this may be this
[15:27] Speaker 2: is a side note, but I think we should all
[15:30] Speaker 2: get a flint and steel and try to make fire
[15:34] Speaker 2: each try first, try to make a fire and see
[15:37] Speaker 2: what happens.
[15:37] Speaker 3: And just that's a fun idea.
[15:39] Speaker 2: That's fun. Write that down, PD, written it down.
[15:45] Speaker 1: I got it. It's already written. I wrote it as
[15:47] Speaker 1: soon as you said it the first time. The turning
[15:50] Speaker 1: point for Sam here though, was the letter from his dad.
[15:54] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[15:55] Speaker 1: After he struggled so hard he went into the letters
[15:57] Speaker 1: from loved one's bag.
[16:00] Speaker 2: Yeah. I for those listening that have not watched the episode,
[16:05] Speaker 2: because apparently we have people that are doing that. When
[16:08] Speaker 2: he says the turning point for him making a fire
[16:10] Speaker 2: was the letter from his dad, that does not mean
[16:12] Speaker 2: he burnt. The letter from his dad means that means
[16:15] Speaker 2: that he was encouraged by it and built a better fire.
[16:19] Speaker 1: So yeah, and it would have been funny if he
[16:23] Speaker 1: used that for firestarter.
[16:24] Speaker 2: He's like, thanks father, you know, lights it up? How
[16:28] Speaker 2: long do you think? I mean, it seemed like he
[16:33] Speaker 2: really tried for a long time to get a fire
[16:36] Speaker 2: going by himself.
[16:38] Speaker 1: Struggling for so long that eventually Rachel went over there
[16:41] Speaker 1: after helping Teeney, and Rachel came back and was like,
[16:45] Speaker 1: Sam sucks and is gone.
[16:48] Speaker 2: Christ is gone. You know. I guys, I don't know why,
[16:53] Speaker 2: but she leaves me all the time on this podcast.
[16:56] Speaker 3: If I was married to you, I'd leave you all
[16:57] Speaker 3: the time. She comes back.
[17:01] Speaker 2: Chase, I was getting I was getting kind of concerned.
[17:03] Speaker 2: I was like, Chase hasn't been mean to be this episode?
[17:05] Speaker 2: Like he okay, Like.
[17:06] Speaker 1: Do I need to check on him.
[17:08] Speaker 3: I don't know how to say this without sounding soft,
[17:12] Speaker 3: but this episode means so much to me. I'm trying
[17:17] Speaker 3: to like keep it on the rails. Dude.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Oh so the rest of them meant nothing to you?
[17:22] Speaker 3: Is what you know? Dude? This is my first ever win.
[17:24] Speaker 2: Dude, this is I'm happy for you. I don't want
[17:26] Speaker 2: to sound soft, but I cried when you won.
[17:29] Speaker 3: And to be and to be I should save this
[17:32] Speaker 3: for the end, but to be the the champion of
[17:36] Speaker 3: the first season that we did with the podcast too,
[17:39] Speaker 3: you know, to our listeners, I'm gonna be like, in
[17:42] Speaker 3: their minds, I'm the first making the Merge champion.
[17:45] Speaker 2: Really, yeah, you were also the first making the Merge
[17:48] Speaker 2: meltdown on TikTok uh. You know you you you were
[17:52] Speaker 2: pretty upset about Saul going home and yeah, you know,
[17:55] Speaker 2: I mean you've had a lot of first for us chase.
[17:58] Speaker 3: Hey, I'm nothing if I'm not a showman, you.
[18:00] Speaker 2: Know, Yeah, showman, a trailblazer, somewh champion, A champion, champion,
[18:05] Speaker 2: I don't anyway.
[18:06] Speaker 3: Anyway, let's keep going with that.
[18:07] Speaker 1: Enough about me, enough cha here. So we talked about
[18:14] Speaker 1: Sam's turning point. He read the letter and he's like,
[18:17] Speaker 1: you know what, I can't give up, Like, I gotta
[18:19] Speaker 1: give it my all, can't have any doubt creep in.
[18:22] Speaker 1: So we go from there to the tribal council area
[18:26] Speaker 1: for the fire making challenge. But before the fire making challenge,
[18:30] Speaker 1: Jeff is asking some questions and he asked Teeny if
[18:33] Speaker 1: this was an opportunity being forced into fire making, and
[18:37] Speaker 1: I was like, that is the dumbest question Jeff Is
[18:39] Speaker 1: ever asked.
[18:40] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty bad.
[18:41] Speaker 1: Yeah. Is your only path to stay in the game
[18:43] Speaker 1: an opportunity? Yeah, I think it is. Jeff Teeny. Teeny
[18:50] Speaker 1: did open up about their one sided rivalry with Sam
[18:54] Speaker 1: and I want to play that clip here. I've had
[18:56] Speaker 1: a bit of a one sided with Sam and open
[19:00] Speaker 1: up about it.
[19:00] Speaker 6: Honestly, is that I look.
[19:03] Speaker 2: At Sam and I see a handsome, smart athletic, strong guy,
[19:07] Speaker 2: and Sam.
[19:08] Speaker 1: Somebody who probably when he was younger, got a lot
[19:11] Speaker 1: of attention from girls.
[19:13] Speaker 3: The teachers wanted him to be the kid who was
[19:15] Speaker 3: like moving to desks around the.
[19:16] Speaker 1: Classroom and like, and that's kind of the thing that
[19:19] Speaker 1: I always wanted to be doing.
[19:23] Speaker 2: Man, how many desks did y'all move? By the way,
[19:26] Speaker 2: growing up, y'all were y'all desk movers in the classroom.
[19:29] Speaker 1: I so she she lost me at that one, yeah,
[19:33] Speaker 1: because I laughed out.
[19:34] Speaker 3: I remember. I remember the teacher being like, I need
[19:37] Speaker 3: some strong boys to help me move these desks. And
[19:39] Speaker 3: I remember being like, God, I hope she doesn't pick
[19:42] Speaker 3: me up. I don't want to do manual labor for
[19:44] Speaker 3: this woman in her forties? Are you kidding me?
[19:47] Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like, I know she doesn't have the money
[19:49] Speaker 2: to pay me for it.
[19:52] Speaker 3: This is great. I understood her sentiment, which was like,
[19:56] Speaker 3: all great, another like, you know, kind of back a
[20:00] Speaker 3: good looking white guy succeeding in life, you know, and
[20:03] Speaker 3: she's like, when is it going to be my turn
[20:05] Speaker 3: to succeed? And I totally understood that sentiment. I think
[20:08] Speaker 3: that she picked the wrong white guy.
[20:11] Speaker 2: Well, and he's also not like, from what I've gathered,
[20:15] Speaker 2: he's not really a jock either, right.
[20:17] Speaker 3: I mean he's in shape, yeah, but like he's like
[20:20] Speaker 3: kind of a nerd. He's like a loser a lot.
[20:23] Speaker 3: Like most of the season, I was like, God, I
[20:26] Speaker 3: was that too harsh. I mean, we can clown Sue
[20:31] Speaker 3: all we want, but the second I call same a
[20:33] Speaker 3: bit of a loser, Well, I.
[20:35] Speaker 2: Feel like we jumped so many levels where you're like,
[20:38] Speaker 2: he's not really a jock. In fact, I would say
[20:40] Speaker 2: he's awful and.
[20:44] Speaker 3: Kind of nerdy, and it's kind of like a bit
[20:46] Speaker 3: of a loser. Like he's, trust me, the kind of
[20:47] Speaker 3: guy that got bullied a lot growing up and now
[20:50] Speaker 3: he's in and he's.
[20:52] Speaker 2: He's still getting bullied on the Making the Merge podcast.
[20:55] Speaker 3: So he deserves it. Like I get like later in
[20:57] Speaker 3: this episode, he upsets me to the point where I.
[21:00] Speaker 1: Don't I can't wait to hear this. That's interesting because
[21:03] Speaker 1: I feel like everybody else is like, go Sam, but yeah,
[21:05] Speaker 1: we'll get to that. WHOA Okay, So next up we
[21:09] Speaker 1: have the most intense thing of the entire season. It
[21:13] Speaker 1: was incredible. This fire making challenge was insane. So Chase
[21:18] Speaker 1: lead us through this portion of the show.
[21:20] Speaker 3: So for the fire making challenge, if you I mean,
[21:23] Speaker 3: I would hope everyone listening has watched Survivor and knows
[21:27] Speaker 3: the show. But if you don't, the way that Survivor works,
[21:30] Speaker 3: when you get the final four, they have to earn
[21:33] Speaker 3: their way to the final three. There's not a big challenge.
[21:36] Speaker 3: There's two people that get selected by the winner of
[21:39] Speaker 3: the immunity challenge who have to make fire. So it's
[21:43] Speaker 3: kind of like this head to head fire making challenge.
[21:45] Speaker 3: They're given flint and steel and a bunch of little
[21:47] Speaker 3: sticks and some like straw stuff as a starter. And
[21:51] Speaker 3: as we've already said, Teeney versus Sam, now the way
[21:55] Speaker 3: that this went down, I have a lot of feelings
[21:57] Speaker 3: about this fire making challenge. I know this is the
[22:00] Speaker 3: Chase is feelings episode, But as the champion, I'm gonna
[22:03] Speaker 3: get a little bit off my chest.
[22:05] Speaker 2: Well, we're gonna let you because it's like you've earned
[22:07] Speaker 2: an award for.
[22:09] Speaker 8: This, you know.
[22:10] Speaker 3: Yeah. So the fire making starts almost immediately. Teeny is
[22:15] Speaker 3: in the lead. Yep, Sam cannot get any like a
[22:19] Speaker 3: little flame in his kindling. Nothing. Teeny right off the bat,
[22:24] Speaker 3: she's in the lead. She's got some fire going. She's
[22:26] Speaker 3: putting the sticks on. Rachel is like giving her advice.
[22:29] Speaker 3: I did think it was very funny. At one point,
[22:30] Speaker 3: Teenie just looks at Rachel goes, what do I doude?
[22:34] Speaker 2: When she looked over and was like, what do I do?
[22:37] Speaker 2: I said, that's how she's played the entire season, except
[22:41] Speaker 2: in fire making.
[22:42] Speaker 1: Right now is hey, what do we do? Guys? You know,
[22:45] Speaker 1: not making the decision. You look to Rachel and say
[22:48] Speaker 1: what do I do? And then it's like then it's
[22:50] Speaker 1: obviously the winner is but.
[22:51] Speaker 2: Yeah, but man, to Teeny's credit though, like you said, Chase,
[22:56] Speaker 2: she she just took off so fast starting the fire.
[22:59] Speaker 2: It was so impressive.
[23:00] Speaker 3: Well, and that was the thing is I thought it
[23:02] Speaker 3: was so funny when she asked what to do, because
[23:03] Speaker 3: it was like, what you're doing is fun, and just
[23:05] Speaker 3: keep doing it. And that's what Rachel said, and she
[23:08] Speaker 3: was like keep going, and so she's just she's just
[23:11] Speaker 3: putting more sticks. Next thing, you though, Teeny has this
[23:13] Speaker 3: giant fire going for a long long time.
[23:18] Speaker 2: As Jeff likes to call an inferno.
[23:20] Speaker 3: He always, yeah, yeah, it's an inferno. You know. Survivor
[23:25] Speaker 3: is a lot like.
[23:25] Speaker 2: A dog's a lot like an inferno starts really hot,
[23:31] Speaker 2: you're not sure where it's gonna go.
[23:35] Speaker 3: Well that's I mean, I think that is a good
[23:37] Speaker 3: metaphor for this fire making challenge. Started off hot and
[23:40] Speaker 3: then you didn't know where it was going.
[23:43] Speaker 1: For real though.
[23:45] Speaker 3: So this is where I this is where I have
[23:47] Speaker 3: This is where my feelings starts.
[23:50] Speaker 1: This is where like I'm so hyped up. I'm like,
[23:53] Speaker 1: oh yeah, I was on an exercise bike watching this.
[23:55] Speaker 1: I was pedaling so fast.
[23:59] Speaker 2: The peloton.
[24:01] Speaker 1: Uh, you know, workout.
[24:02] Speaker 2: They're just like Peenie Bachmann out of nowhere from the back,
[24:05] Speaker 2: you know.
[24:08] Speaker 3: So like Teeny has this fire going so big and
[24:13] Speaker 3: so long that it's like any Usually at this point
[24:15] Speaker 3: of the fire making challenge, any second, that rope's gone
[24:18] Speaker 3: and it's over. But for some reason, the wind is
[24:21] Speaker 3: going so berserk. It's not it's not even touching the rope.
[24:25] Speaker 3: It's not touching the rope, and there's and this is
[24:28] Speaker 3: where I oh, god, dude, like there's nothing more she
[24:30] Speaker 3: could do. Yeah, she had this giant fire and it
[24:34] Speaker 3: was staying strong, but it just wasn't burning the rope.
[24:38] Speaker 3: And the next thing, you know, Sam has a little
[24:41] Speaker 3: fire going in his kindling. Next thing, you know, he's
[24:43] Speaker 3: got some sticks on it. Next thing, you know, it's
[24:45] Speaker 3: going big. Next thing, you know, it's as big as teenies,
[24:47] Speaker 3: And just like that, out of nowhere, in like after
[24:51] Speaker 3: Teenie's had this giant fire for minutes, within seconds his
[24:55] Speaker 3: rope burns. It's over and Sam wins the challenge. Yeah,
[25:00] Speaker 3: and I saw, I mean, obviously super epic moment of
[25:04] Speaker 3: this episode, probably the epic moment of this episode.
[25:07] Speaker 2: I think one other than like Operation Italy, I mean
[25:13] Speaker 2: the fire. Between the fire making and Operation Italy, those
[25:16] Speaker 2: are two massive moments for the season.
[25:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, and then like Rachel playing her her idol, Yeah's
[25:23] Speaker 3: idols number one.
[25:24] Speaker 1: But I mean the it was like the fire making.
[25:28] Speaker 1: I mean, ultimately it ends up being inconsequential, but in
[25:31] Speaker 1: the moment, it was just so im.
[25:35] Speaker 3: And this is where I had a big problem. There
[25:39] Speaker 3: was no it wasn't a skill issue. There was nothing
[25:43] Speaker 3: more that Teeny could have done to win it. It
[25:47] Speaker 3: was literally just luck. And that's where I felt like
[25:49] Speaker 3: fire making to decide the final three. It's it was
[25:54] Speaker 3: made like that rule was made because it was like
[25:57] Speaker 3: it was supposed to eliminate all luck like this. This is
[26:01] Speaker 3: purely two people doing something that everyone that's cast on
[26:04] Speaker 3: Survivor should know how to do, and which of you
[26:07] Speaker 3: can do it better.
[26:08] Speaker 1: The real reason that it was put in there, and
[26:10] Speaker 1: I heard this from Jeff this week, he said that
[26:13] Speaker 1: it's because the thing that they would do is vote
[26:16] Speaker 1: out the best player at four. So here's a hurdle
[26:19] Speaker 1: where like they are potentially safe as we're in every
[26:22] Speaker 1: other season, they would just be the conclusion to go home.
[26:26] Speaker 2: Well, I do I have two questions for y'all about
[26:31] Speaker 2: the fire making. One is more of like a hypothetical
[26:33] Speaker 2: on your feelings. I'm sure you'll like that one, Chase.
[26:36] Speaker 2: But the first one I have is do you think
[26:40] Speaker 2: because I'm watching their flames and Teeny's is like sideways, yeah,
[26:46] Speaker 2: and Sam's is fine, I would be I would be
[26:49] Speaker 2: really interested to know what the layout of like the
[26:53] Speaker 2: walls or the items or like, you know, were there
[26:56] Speaker 2: any barricades that were blocking Sam from her wind?
[27:00] Speaker 8: You know?
[27:00] Speaker 2: And at that point you're like a man, I feel
[27:03] Speaker 2: like I feel like you should always make sure that
[27:07] Speaker 2: wherever the contestants are sitting is like very fair. Yeah,
[27:11] Speaker 2: because it just something. They were right next to each
[27:15] Speaker 2: other and the wind was pretty much only hitting her flame. Yeah,
[27:20] Speaker 2: and I felt I felt really bad for her, like
[27:24] Speaker 2: I've given her like a tough time this season, you know,
[27:26] Speaker 2: or like poked fun. But I watched that and I
[27:29] Speaker 2: was like, dang, like that's kind of heartbreaking. So that
[27:32] Speaker 2: brings me my next question for y'all. In fire making,
[27:38] Speaker 2: would you feel worse or better if the reason that
[27:43] Speaker 2: you lost was because the wind caught your flame versus
[27:47] Speaker 2: just not being able to make a fire, which one
[27:50] Speaker 2: would make you feel worse.
[27:52] Speaker 1: I'd rather have the wind knocking me out of it,
[27:55] Speaker 1: because then it was like, maybe you could make a fire,
[27:57] Speaker 1: because when somebody can't get a flame the whole time,
[28:00] Speaker 1: those are always big letdowns.
[28:03] Speaker 3: That's kind of what I was thinking, but also, like
[28:06] Speaker 3: you were saying, I felt so bad for Teeny in
[28:09] Speaker 3: this moment. Here's this is what I wrote in my
[28:11] Speaker 3: notes during this part.
[28:12] Speaker 1: It is diary.
[28:14] Speaker 3: Teeny losing fire was one of the most unfair and
[28:16] Speaker 3: insane moments ever. Doesn't even feel fair. I'm not sure
[28:19] Speaker 3: what she could have done differently. I think I was
[28:21] Speaker 3: just so upset because it was like she did everything right.
[28:23] Speaker 3: She did it first, and she had the biggest fire quickly,
[28:28] Speaker 3: and it's like she deserved the final three spot and
[28:31] Speaker 3: there was like nothing that she could do about it.
[28:33] Speaker 3: And that's what really felt unfair to me. But I guess, like,
[28:38] Speaker 3: you know, what can you do about Like I just
[28:39] Speaker 3: didn't feel like Sam earned that win.
[28:41] Speaker 1: I mean, he kept trying. He could have given up, yeah,
[28:44] Speaker 1: and that's the way that he positioned his fire. It
[28:47] Speaker 1: looked like his was behind the rope it was and
[28:50] Speaker 1: a little bit in front.
[28:52] Speaker 3: M I didn't think about that.
[28:54] Speaker 1: Well.
[28:54] Speaker 2: I think his his perseverance, to me, doesn't negate his win,
[28:59] Speaker 2: right like her her flame getting blown over doesn't mean
[29:02] Speaker 2: that he wasn't worthy of winning fire making. I mean
[29:06] Speaker 2: he kept trying, even though he could have clearly given
[29:09] Speaker 2: up as soon as he saw an inferno over all
[29:12] Speaker 2: teens and he just kept trying, like he just he
[29:19] Speaker 2: he pulled through when it counted. I guess, but I
[29:23] Speaker 2: you know, I thought that when he won, you know,
[29:25] Speaker 2: he stood up and he was just psyched.
[29:28] Speaker 3: Like yeah, yeah, right, yeah, let's go.
[29:31] Speaker 1: That's how I reacted after I saw it, very different
[29:33] Speaker 1: from how Chase reacted apparently.
[29:35] Speaker 2: But then he like very quickly shifted and when it
[29:39] Speaker 2: hugged Teeny and I was like, okay, good, good on
[29:41] Speaker 2: you dude, like you you weren't like a complete jerk.
[29:44] Speaker 3: Ye know, I didn't. I didn't have a problem with
[29:45] Speaker 3: how he acted there. It's where what he acts later
[29:48] Speaker 3: in this episode where I've got a lot of hate
[29:50] Speaker 3: for safe.
[29:53] Speaker 2: So what you're telling me is we're not having Sam
[29:55] Speaker 2: on the podcast.
[29:57] Speaker 3: You know, we can have Sam on, but I will
[29:59] Speaker 3: be bringing the things up.
[30:00] Speaker 1: Oh okay, well, I mean it's for obvious reasons. It's
[30:04] Speaker 1: because Sam was going up against Chasi's darling Rachel.
[30:08] Speaker 3: And no, it's not even that. Let's not even talk
[30:10] Speaker 3: about until. It's because I will get carried away.
[30:14] Speaker 2: I can feel it in his eyes. You're scaring us.
[30:17] Speaker 3: I do.
[30:17] Speaker 1: I have one more note on fire making, and that's
[30:20] Speaker 1: that after it was over, Rachel looked at Teeny like
[30:23] Speaker 1: an emperor looking down at one of their generals, and
[30:26] Speaker 1: she's like, you did well, Teeny. I thought that this
[30:36] Speaker 1: is an incredible moment, Emperor.
[30:38] Speaker 2: Rachel, Yeah, yeah, be well in your journey, says you leave.
[30:43] Speaker 2: You know, it's like or on the battlefield dying, like
[30:45] Speaker 2: grabbing her hand you know.
[30:47] Speaker 3: Yeah, she has such a grasp on this game, like
[30:52] Speaker 3: every everything once she kind of really took control of
[30:55] Speaker 3: the game, everything that happens. It just like so like
[30:58] Speaker 3: Rachel is so obviously the winner.
[31:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean by like I we We
[31:06] Speaker 2: even were texting with with Lovely Brandon, guest of the
[31:09] Speaker 2: podcast you Know Deck the Hallmark. He said he wasn't
[31:13] Speaker 2: sure how excited he was to watch the finale. He's like,
[31:15] Speaker 2: because I've I've never been so sure that somebody is winning,
[31:21] Speaker 2: whereas we all kind of still felt some excitement for it.
[31:25] Speaker 2: But it's just true, Like the entire episode, you're like,
[31:30] Speaker 2: if she wins Immunity, Rachel's winning, like there's not and.
[31:34] Speaker 1: Then it happens ten minutes into the eide Yeah, just
[31:37] Speaker 1: like well it's over.
[31:38] Speaker 3: Like she's there a very entertaining episode.
[31:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, oh ya say that is like, so we had
[31:44] Speaker 1: that question, that was like the only question we had
[31:46] Speaker 1: going in. The question gets answered in ten minutes. It's
[31:48] Speaker 1: that Rachel wins, and then they we're like, where's the
[31:51] Speaker 1: drama gonna come from? And that's where I am so
[31:54] Speaker 1: glad that Sam was one of the people who made
[31:57] Speaker 1: it to the end because he made what seemed in
[32:00] Speaker 1: a very entertaining episode. So let's just keep going. We
[32:05] Speaker 1: wake up. It's day twenty six, It's Sue's birthday. She
[32:09] Speaker 1: is forty six, and we've got our final three Rachel,
[32:15] Speaker 1: Sam and Sue. And why don't we hear from Sue
[32:20] Speaker 1: real quick?
[32:21] Speaker 5: This is my one last chance to give myself my birthday,
[32:25] Speaker 5: given that they want.
[32:26] Speaker 1: To give myself. I know that Sam and Rachel are.
[32:29] Speaker 7: Off their high sight and close to feel.
[32:30] Speaker 3: That they're one and two and I'm just gonna be
[32:32] Speaker 3: the goat.
[32:33] Speaker 1: But everyone under ESCA made it me. I downfind myself
[32:38] Speaker 1: the whole time, and I.
[32:39] Speaker 2: Fooled them all.
[32:43] Speaker 3: Wow.
[32:44] Speaker 2: Also, speaking of underestimated, Kristin is back.
[32:46] Speaker 1: Christen's back.
[32:48] Speaker 2: Christ here, Yeah, yeah, yeah, you have a mic or
[32:53] Speaker 2: he's just yelling no, no.
[32:55] Speaker 6: I'm just shouting from across the room.
[32:57] Speaker 1: Okay, into my computer, give me a mic. Established speaking
[33:06] Speaker 1: of being against women, we're talking about Sue and how
[33:10] Speaker 1: Sue said I fooled them all and she genuinely believes
[33:14] Speaker 1: that she is a winner going into this. I there's
[33:19] Speaker 1: a level of delusion. I feel they had their little
[33:23] Speaker 1: watermelon feast on the beach and the you know, the
[33:27] Speaker 1: Peace treaty time and was not a fan of the watermelon.
[33:30] Speaker 1: But no, he wasn't.
[33:33] Speaker 3: I don't like any fruit.
[33:35] Speaker 2: I don't look, I don't like watermelon. I've had enough
[33:38] Speaker 2: fruit in my life to know what I like. Watermelon
[33:41] Speaker 2: is not one.
[33:42] Speaker 3: Why is he literally every time they eat anything, he's like,
[33:45] Speaker 3: I've never heard this before, what are you eating? A
[33:47] Speaker 3: sports kind of guy. He's the kind of guy that
[33:49] Speaker 3: every restaurant he goes to he gets chicken tis.
[33:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I was about saying. He's like, do you
[33:55] Speaker 2: have grilled cheese?
[33:56] Speaker 1: That's what? Yeah.
[33:57] Speaker 3: He's an olive garden and they were like super salad
[33:59] Speaker 3: and he was like, do you have chicken butter noodles?
[34:03] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[34:03] Speaker 3: Yeah? Can I get Can I get some water with
[34:06] Speaker 3: some salt on it?
[34:08] Speaker 2: Just you mean salt water?
[34:10] Speaker 3: Yeah. He's like, I'll put lemon in it?
[34:12] Speaker 1: Yeah, Oh okay, all right.
[34:14] Speaker 2: He's like, wait, wait is lemon a fruit? That's what he.
[34:16] Speaker 3: Says, the same as the kind of guy where his
[34:19] Speaker 3: favorite fruit is lemon.
[34:23] Speaker 2: And if he's really feeling wild and apple, you know, hey.
[34:28] Speaker 1: He did like pineapple. Give the man some credit.
[34:31] Speaker 2: That's because they had the word apple in it.
[34:33] Speaker 1: I think that's what it is possible. Yeah, he's like
[34:36] Speaker 1: that seems familiar enough. I like it.
[34:39] Speaker 2: Oh man. Yeah, I'm good with shifting to tribal because
[34:42] Speaker 2: I feel like there wasn't much that happened between stuff,
[34:46] Speaker 2: and honestly for a reason, because they were like, let's
[34:49] Speaker 2: just get to tribal. We all know who's winning, right.
[34:52] Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. It wasn't that clean cut the
[34:55] Speaker 3: rible edit.
[34:59] Speaker 1: Well, I mean the way we started, I thought Chase
[35:01] Speaker 1: is gonna keep talking. Yeah, I don't know why I realize.
[35:08] Speaker 3: I thought in my head, I was like the tribal edit,
[35:10] Speaker 3: and then PD was just gonna pick up with.
[35:12] Speaker 1: The that it sounded like the beginning of a sentence.
[35:17] Speaker 3: My bad man. I don't know.
[35:19] Speaker 2: Somebody think that you were gonna continue like I.
[35:22] Speaker 3: Thought, I was like handing the batonda PD.
[35:25] Speaker 2: But what I thought was what I thought was gonna
[35:30] Speaker 2: you see how weird that is, Chase when you started.
[35:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I knew it was weird. When I got
[35:35] Speaker 3: quiet and looked at you, guys.
[35:41] Speaker 1: I thought, did go off about the edit and then
[35:44] Speaker 1: realize you're jumping ahead and you just shut down.
[35:46] Speaker 3: That's what well, I mean yeah, I mean kind yeah, okay,
[35:49] Speaker 3: just take it PD.
[35:52] Speaker 1: I feel like I have to leave all this head
[35:54] Speaker 1: now we'll see yeah, yeah, you gotta leave it. The
[35:56] Speaker 1: power now shifts to the jury. We are at tribal counts,
[36:00] Speaker 1: and it starts with Sue's pitch and Sue's pitches Hey, guys,
[36:04] Speaker 1: it's my birthday. I'm not actually forty five, I am
[36:08] Speaker 1: fifty nine. And then Gabe said wow, and Sam was
[36:14] Speaker 1: like smiling, and Caroline was smiling too, and it kind
[36:18] Speaker 1: of just no follow up, no questions, nothing, Oh man,
[36:23] Speaker 1: it was like.
[36:24] Speaker 3: Wow, yeah, I really wish man. All I could think
[36:28] Speaker 3: of when that when she goes like she said it
[36:31] Speaker 3: like this was about to be the biggest reveal of
[36:32] Speaker 3: this my word, she goes, she goes, I'm not actually
[36:36] Speaker 3: forty five, And I was just really wanting someone to
[36:38] Speaker 3: be like, say it ain't so soon say it ain't so.
[36:43] Speaker 1: He gets It's like.
[36:46] Speaker 3: Literally literally everyone was just like oh and then looked
[36:50] Speaker 3: at Jeff to continue like.
[36:56] Speaker 2: Yeah. The shock value that she was for she was
[37:01] Speaker 2: not presented with.
[37:03] Speaker 3: Upon the revelation of Gable. Gabe was the only one
[37:06] Speaker 3: nice enough to be like, whoa.
[37:09] Speaker 6: Yeah, wondering what made her think she could pass for
[37:13] Speaker 6: forty five.
[37:15] Speaker 3: She kept putting the dirt on her face. She was like,
[37:16] Speaker 3: maybe they won't notice.
[37:18] Speaker 2: Yeah, here's my thing is she acted like it was
[37:21] Speaker 2: this massive lie she had kept the whole season, and
[37:24] Speaker 2: I'm like, you know when you had to lie, Susan, Susan.
[37:27] Speaker 1: Wow, Susan, where did that come from? We have not
[37:34] Speaker 1: called her Susan. Oh my gosh. When she showed up
[37:42] Speaker 1: on the island and it was like, I'm Sue, that
[37:46] Speaker 1: was that was when the lie had to happen. They
[37:49] Speaker 1: were like how old? She says it?
[37:51] Speaker 2: Right, that's it. It wasn't like people the rest of
[37:54] Speaker 2: the time they were on the island were like yeah,
[37:55] Speaker 2: by the way, Sue, how.
[37:56] Speaker 1: Old did you say?
[37:57] Speaker 2: You were like, no one's asking, and then she gets
[38:01] Speaker 2: all the way. The end is just like, hey, I
[38:03] Speaker 2: did a pretty good job keeping that secret, didn't I.
[38:06] Speaker 9: People you know, like you call it sus Like when
[38:09] Speaker 9: we were we were texting about that show The Traders
[38:11] Speaker 9: the other day, Boston rob Is on the show that
[38:15] Speaker 9: I Go Boston, Robert.
[38:19] Speaker 1: Massachusetts.
[38:20] Speaker 3: Bob Is Massachusetts Robert Dogs.
[38:29] Speaker 1: Like Joe's knockoff. Yeah, that's his explorer, Dave. You know, man,
[38:40] Speaker 1: the Final Tribal Council.
[38:43] Speaker 3: I'm sweating dogs.
[38:45] Speaker 2: I can't Massachusetts, Bob and Susan.
[38:49] Speaker 1: I don't know what happened. My brain broke.
[38:52] Speaker 2: Okay, all right, all right, I'm good.
[38:56] Speaker 1: Yeah. So Chase apparently has some very strong feelings about
[38:59] Speaker 1: this Final Tribal Council. Yeah, let's let's get into it.
[39:03] Speaker 1: This is more of the Chase of Victory lap slash
[39:06] Speaker 1: therapy hour.
[39:07] Speaker 2: Okay, So Christen, can you be ready for this? By
[39:10] Speaker 2: the way, with you and your licensure, can you be
[39:12] Speaker 2: ready to like diagnose.
[39:13] Speaker 3: With something, put them away, use your use your psychology
[39:16] Speaker 3: degree on me for this please? So, like we were
[39:20] Speaker 3: talking about, you know, like I foreluted to earlier, the
[39:24] Speaker 3: edit wasn't straightforward like it.
[39:28] Speaker 2: It's eluded, just like foreshadowed and alluded.
[39:51] Speaker 1: This podcast is a nightmare I had to go through
[39:58] Speaker 1: like the I had to.
[40:00] Speaker 2: I had to process it for a moment.
[40:02] Speaker 1: Means it took me one business day.
[40:04] Speaker 2: I was for looted about that's not even a word.
[40:06] Speaker 1: Right, I was questioning myself. I was like, is this
[40:09] Speaker 1: just a word? I don't know, Well, what did the.
[40:12] Speaker 2: Way for me is looking at me and seeing his
[40:14] Speaker 2: eyes squint just for a moment. I was like, yeah,
[40:17] Speaker 2: I think we're on the same page.
[40:20] Speaker 3: Man, I don't know. I don't know.
[40:23] Speaker 1: Okay, I just typed in for looted into Google. It said,
[40:26] Speaker 1: did you mean preluded for laid or Ford? I think
[40:31] Speaker 1: I think I was trying.
[40:32] Speaker 2: To say, he prophesied. That's what you were trying to say.
[40:38] Speaker 9: Yeah, you guys knew what I meant.
[40:42] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it couldn't let that slide.
[40:44] Speaker 3: Good word.
[40:47] Speaker 1: Honestly for loud.
[40:48] Speaker 2: It feels right like it feels just it feels real like.
[40:53] Speaker 3: If I'm going to make up a word, at least
[40:55] Speaker 3: that word like made sense.
[40:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, God, dude, guys, Yeah, I really, guys.
[41:03] Speaker 3: While we were laughing, I really started crying, like legitimately,
[41:06] Speaker 3: like emotionally crying, like not even just.
[41:10] Speaker 1: I'm like, Chase, tell us your thoughts about this episode
[41:13] Speaker 1: and then yeah, how about now you actually tell us
[41:17] Speaker 1: your thoughts about what happened with Sam and Rachel's cases
[41:21] Speaker 1: in the.
[41:21] Speaker 3: Back and forth. Hey, this is why we're the number
[41:24] Speaker 3: two TV and film podcast in What Philippines Philippines.
[41:33] Speaker 1: So yeah, this recap was great. Until they forgot how
[41:36] Speaker 1: to speak English and started giggling for ten minutes.
[41:42] Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I gonna breathe.
[41:44] Speaker 1: Okay, So tribal edit.
[41:47] Speaker 3: The tribal edit, I think that they did a really
[41:49] Speaker 3: good job of really making it look like Sam has
[41:54] Speaker 3: a chance.
[41:55] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[41:56] Speaker 3: But here's the thing that drove me crazy. Right, So
[42:00] Speaker 3: we're at the point the jury each gets to ask questions,
[42:04] Speaker 3: They get to to ask things of Sam and Rachel.
[42:08] Speaker 3: Not many people asked Sue much.
[42:10] Speaker 2: Nope. In fact, I'm like there were two questions, right,
[42:15] Speaker 2: so County Chris, the two questions.
[42:17] Speaker 6: Two or three? I feel like some people just asked
[42:19] Speaker 6: her questions to like throw her a bone, you.
[42:21] Speaker 3: Know, yeah, yeah, yeah. They were like, Okay, it's like
[42:24] Speaker 3: I heard from Rachel and Sam, now Sue, would you
[42:26] Speaker 3: like to answer?
[42:27] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[42:30] Speaker 3: The thing that really started to upset me was even
[42:33] Speaker 3: like in Sam's confessionals right before Tribal and his reactions
[42:39] Speaker 3: to some of Rachel's answers and some of his answers,
[42:42] Speaker 3: It really upset me how he perceived his game to
[42:46] Speaker 3: be a lot better than it actually was. He truly,
[42:50] Speaker 3: it was almost pitiful, how how much he thought his
[42:54] Speaker 3: game was such a such a good game, and it
[42:57] Speaker 3: was really making me upset because he did not play
[42:59] Speaker 3: as good of a game as he thought he did.
[43:01] Speaker 3: And Rachel like called herself the underdog. She was like,
[43:06] Speaker 3: I'm the underdog of the season. I was going home.
[43:09] Speaker 3: Saw saved me. Then the next week, I was going home.
[43:12] Speaker 3: I weaseled my way out of it. I used this advantage.
[43:14] Speaker 3: I did that, like she truly was the underdog this season.
[43:17] Speaker 3: And when she said that, Sam gave a face like,
[43:19] Speaker 3: what are you talking about. You're not the underdog of
[43:21] Speaker 3: the season. I am. And I was like, Sam, you
[43:24] Speaker 3: started off this game at the top of your beginning tribe.
[43:27] Speaker 3: You were bullying the other people in your tribe. You
[43:30] Speaker 3: were so cocky that you were like, you had the numbers.
[43:33] Speaker 3: Then the second that it flipped on you, Yeah, you
[43:36] Speaker 3: became an underdog because you were at the bottom of
[43:39] Speaker 3: the numbers because they flipped on you. You were on top,
[43:43] Speaker 3: you got dethroned, and then you were so like you
[43:47] Speaker 3: you had such a bad game at that point that
[43:50] Speaker 3: people didn't mind dragging you along. Yeah, you were on
[43:54] Speaker 3: the bottom of the barrel for like three tribals in
[43:57] Speaker 3: a row, and you managed to survive, but not of
[44:00] Speaker 3: anything that you did. You didn't play any advantages, you
[44:03] Speaker 3: didn't strategically survive. No, it was literally everyone's trying to
[44:07] Speaker 3: get out bigger threats than Sam. So Sam thought that
[44:11] Speaker 3: he played this epic game where he survived, and that
[44:14] Speaker 3: was not the game he played. That was the game
[44:15] Speaker 3: Rachel played.
[44:16] Speaker 1: And so I was really upset.
[44:18] Speaker 2: But what I think Sam did pull off some stuff
[44:25] Speaker 2: that helped him survive. But if we're looking at what
[44:30] Speaker 2: he is at right then is for a million dollars.
[44:36] Speaker 2: So at that point you're like, you say, whatever the
[44:39] Speaker 2: heck you want, or lie however you want to elevate
[44:42] Speaker 2: your game however you want, because at the end of
[44:45] Speaker 2: the day, the game's not over.
[44:46] Speaker 3: You still want to.
[44:47] Speaker 1: Get those votes.
[44:47] Speaker 2: I almost sound it like Jeff there, guys, I am him,
[44:50] Speaker 2: But that's why.
[44:54] Speaker 3: Well, no, it's not even that I take it personally.
[44:55] Speaker 3: It just did upset me personally.
[44:58] Speaker 2: Earlier he called him a loser.
[45:00] Speaker 1: You know, I didn't like.
[45:02] Speaker 3: I mean it like that. I meant I didn't think
[45:03] Speaker 3: he was like a popular jock.
[45:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, Okay, this guy's last task in the
[45:08] Speaker 1: game is building a case to win a million dollars?
[45:11] Speaker 1: How dare he embellish and let me make it very.
[45:16] Speaker 3: Much want the money I think he made. I think
[45:19] Speaker 3: he made a great case for himself. He was very
[45:21] Speaker 3: well spoken, He made a great gase for himself, and
[45:23] Speaker 3: I totally understand having to embellish. What made me upset
[45:27] Speaker 3: is I truly think that he thought that he had
[45:29] Speaker 3: played a better.
[45:30] Speaker 6: Game than he did, so going into tribal, I really
[45:34] Speaker 6: felt that Sam had no chance against Rachel. But listening
[45:38] Speaker 6: to his argument, I was actually kind of like, okay,
[45:41] Speaker 6: like this is a decent argument, and if you do
[45:44] Speaker 6: look at it from the out wit, outplay, out last,
[45:47] Speaker 6: like technically he did do he outlasted, outlasting I don't
[45:53] Speaker 6: know that he outplayed anybody. I do think that Sam
[45:57] Speaker 6: kind of got dragged to the end. I don't, but
[45:59] Speaker 6: I think once he got there, he made the best
[46:01] Speaker 6: of the situation he was in and he did have
[46:03] Speaker 6: a good argument.
[46:04] Speaker 1: Yeah, and chases like how dare he can't say anything
[46:07] Speaker 1: but Rachel was the best player ever.
[46:10] Speaker 3: I didn't mean to come across like a big Sam hater.
[46:13] Speaker 3: I just it really frustrated me that because like there's
[46:16] Speaker 3: that part of tribal where he does this big thing,
[46:18] Speaker 3: like this was this great thing I did. We pointed
[46:21] Speaker 3: out Rachel as this huge threat. Yeah, we wanted everyone
[46:24] Speaker 3: to know that Rachel was a huge threat. And then
[46:26] Speaker 3: Rachel goes, yeah, but then you didn't take out the threat.
[46:28] Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, but that's why her her whole game was
[46:33] Speaker 2: so air tight. Yeah, because of things like that. Now,
[46:37] Speaker 2: where I think he went wrong and where I see
[46:40] Speaker 2: like others go wrong. Is that kind of arrogant or
[46:45] Speaker 2: faux arrogant look that he gave teeny in the water
[46:49] Speaker 2: of like you want me to build a fire? That
[46:51] Speaker 2: kind of started to leak into when Rachel would be answering,
[46:56] Speaker 2: he would be giving like looks and being like, you know,
[46:59] Speaker 2: doing stuff to kind of like negate what she was saying.
[47:02] Speaker 2: If I'm sitting on the jury and I see someone
[47:05] Speaker 2: who's played like a really clean game and someone else
[47:09] Speaker 2: is giving a really good argument, but they're constantly being
[47:12] Speaker 2: like what no, uh, you know, super rude or condescending
[47:17] Speaker 2: to the other player. That's not gonna incline me to
[47:21] Speaker 2: vote for them.
[47:22] Speaker 3: Okay, that's what I was trying to say, But you
[47:24] Speaker 3: articulated it way better.
[47:26] Speaker 1: Wow, But yours was emotional, which I think it's good
[47:29] Speaker 1: for this show. Yeah.
[47:31] Speaker 3: Well, okay, so I do feel I do feel really
[47:34] Speaker 3: bad for going so hard on Sam when I should
[47:36] Speaker 3: be going so hard on how great Rachel was. Yeah.
[47:39] Speaker 1: So I don't want to come across like I think
[47:42] Speaker 1: Sam was the winner either. I was just saying, of course,
[47:44] Speaker 1: he was like backed into a corner and was going
[47:46] Speaker 1: to say whatever, And I didn't fault him for that.
[47:49] Speaker 1: But one thing that Rachel brought up, it just goes
[47:51] Speaker 1: to show how much of a genius that she is
[47:54] Speaker 1: is when they were having her funeral, that she was
[47:57] Speaker 1: actively like playing that up and make sure that they
[48:01] Speaker 1: talked about how big of a threat she was so
[48:03] Speaker 1: that they would make the case for her. So it's
[48:05] Speaker 1: like Rachel could have just like sat there and made
[48:08] Speaker 1: fart noises the whole tribal council and she could have won.
[48:11] Speaker 2: I think some might say that would have been way
[48:13] Speaker 2: more entertaining, But I mean, can't you imagine.
[48:17] Speaker 3: To your point, PD, dude, Like Rachel, she really laid
[48:21] Speaker 3: out everything that made her a winner, and it was
[48:24] Speaker 3: so like she didn't so simply and I.
[48:26] Speaker 2: Just didn't have to try hard because her game had
[48:30] Speaker 2: already been proven and it had been proven by the
[48:33] Speaker 2: other players at the previous tribal. That's to the jury.
[48:37] Speaker 2: It was a It was a solid move because she
[48:39] Speaker 2: basically even brought that up though, like you're saying p
[48:42] Speaker 2: D whereas she was like they already made it, like
[48:44] Speaker 2: they already made the argument for me. So yeah, she's
[48:49] Speaker 2: a killer player and deserved that win more than anybody
[48:52] Speaker 2: else on the island. Now, Sam had one vote.
[48:58] Speaker 1: He had one vote, which sed me.
[49:01] Speaker 2: Yeah, well I know why came from Kyle. Yes, And
[49:04] Speaker 2: not only do I know why, but today I happened
[49:08] Speaker 2: to cross a TikTok and I'm gonna play the audio
[49:11] Speaker 2: for you where Kyle is now on cameo. Okay, And
[49:15] Speaker 2: it was somebody's birthday and they got a cameo from Kyle,
[49:19] Speaker 2: and since they were a fan, he said, I'm gonna
[49:21] Speaker 2: give you some extra details about why I voted for Sam,
[49:26] Speaker 2: and he dropped those details in a one person cameo
[49:29] Speaker 2: and then they posted it online. So here we go, guys,
[49:32] Speaker 2: I'm gonna play it for you.
[49:34] Speaker 1: So that's a.
[49:34] Speaker 7: Story from a different time. Listen, Kyle Rn, I'm here
[49:38] Speaker 7: in LA with most of the cast.
[49:41] Speaker 2: We just hit the finale.
[49:43] Speaker 7: I'm taking a little time to give you some love,
[49:45] Speaker 7: and obviously you've seen the finale, and I'm gonna give
[49:49] Speaker 7: you some insider because you deserve it for being a badass.
[49:53] Speaker 7: You want to know why I voted for Sam because
[49:56] Speaker 7: I knew everybody was voting for Rachel. That's his clean cut,
[49:59] Speaker 7: as I could put it for you. I didn't feel
[50:02] Speaker 7: like Sam was a third vote finalist with with Sue,
[50:06] Speaker 7: I didn't. I don't believe that they played the same game.
[50:09] Speaker 7: I believe that Sam deserved a second place. And if
[50:12] Speaker 7: I can single handedly take money from one man's pocket
[50:17] Speaker 7: and put it into another man's.
[50:18] Speaker 3: Pocket, okay, okay, and have have no sweat, Yeah.
[50:23] Speaker 7: I'm gonna do it because I'm not in this just
[50:26] Speaker 7: for myself, right, We're in this for family, We're in
[50:29] Speaker 7: this for friends.
[50:29] Speaker 3: Buck twenty literally gave him a buck twenty this time.
[50:35] Speaker 1: Yeah, he gave him fifteen thousand problems, but he would
[50:38] Speaker 1: make sense.
[50:39] Speaker 2: It makes sense why he did it. He basically was like,
[50:42] Speaker 2: Sue and Sam are not on the same level. Sam
[50:45] Speaker 2: shouldn't be a no vote. I'm gonna vote Sam because
[50:48] Speaker 2: I know Rachel's gonna win.
[50:50] Speaker 3: So I didn't even think about that. So if Sam
[50:54] Speaker 3: and Sue both had gotten zero votes, they would have
[50:57] Speaker 3: tied for second. Yes, yeah, so they would have had
[51:00] Speaker 3: to split the second place money. Yeah, and that would
[51:02] Speaker 3: mean teeny gets the third place money.
[51:05] Speaker 1: No, I don't think.
[51:06] Speaker 3: I don't think.
[51:06] Speaker 1: I don't think anybody.
[51:07] Speaker 3: I think if you well know that everyone gets paid.
[51:09] Speaker 3: It's a sliding scale, even if you're I think.
[51:13] Speaker 1: It's eighty five thousand if they both get no votes.
[51:16] Speaker 1: But because there's that distinction, now Sam gets fifteen thousand more.
[51:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, which I think is like a solid thing
[51:24] Speaker 2: to do just from a well, from just being a
[51:27] Speaker 2: kind guy, right, Like that's how he played the whole game,
[51:30] Speaker 2: the whole time. But to basically just say Sam played
[51:34] Speaker 2: better than Sue, he should get second place instead of tying,
[51:38] Speaker 2: I'm gonna hand it to him. And he did.
[51:41] Speaker 3: Yeah, he lost me at first because I was like,
[51:44] Speaker 3: what are you talking?
[51:45] Speaker 2: I'm talking nice about Sam, that's what she's started.
[51:48] Speaker 3: Well No, No, I meant I was like, you want
[51:51] Speaker 3: to know why I voted for Sam because I knew
[51:53] Speaker 3: everyone was voting for Rachel, And I was just like,
[51:55] Speaker 3: come on, dude, well that does make sense. I didn't
[51:57] Speaker 3: even think about the conclusions to yeah, you know, yeah, do.
[52:01] Speaker 6: You have a pattern of doing this in your lifetime?
[52:03] Speaker 1: Get in his head, Christen?
[52:05] Speaker 3: I do. It's a problem.
[52:07] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't.
[52:09] Speaker 3: Mean to like for for Fortell.
[52:13] Speaker 2: Now that's a real lude.
[52:15] Speaker 3: I don't need to for lude, you know. Yeah, yeah, man, Really,
[52:20] Speaker 3: I feel like Jonathan from last week. I feel like
[52:22] Speaker 3: I really dropped this.
[52:24] Speaker 2: Is This is great for me because last week I
[52:27] Speaker 2: was half asleep and got off the podcast and thought, man,
[52:31] Speaker 2: I don't even know who that was theisode that podcast.
[52:33] Speaker 3: That's how I feel right now. This is the biggest
[52:35] Speaker 3: victory of my life. And I feel like a fucking
[52:38] Speaker 3: moral sorry that you'll have to beat that PDA.
[52:44] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I might not, don't.
[52:49] Speaker 2: He's feeling he's feeling frisky this week, you know. Oh man, Yeah, Chase,
[52:55] Speaker 2: I'm really I'm really glad Rachel won. I think that
[52:58] Speaker 2: Rachel deserved the win. And you know, you've been You've
[53:01] Speaker 2: been hustling for a win longer than than I have
[53:05] Speaker 2: or Kristin has. I mean, Kristen still doesn't deserve that
[53:08] Speaker 2: win from last season, you know, but it's just, uh,
[53:12] Speaker 2: you know, I'm happy that you took it this time.
[53:15] Speaker 3: Thanks man. I will say it would have been more
[53:17] Speaker 3: entertaining if Jonathan had won this season, because then next
[53:21] Speaker 3: season I could really have it out for.
[53:22] Speaker 1: Him because you have a tattoo on your body.
[53:25] Speaker 2: Oh god, yeah, I mean honestly, I don't know how
[53:30] Speaker 2: we would have topped a season like that. You get
[53:33] Speaker 2: a tattoo, you know. Yeah, apparently that's like top tier
[53:37] Speaker 2: for me. I don't know why that was say, tattoo.
[53:39] Speaker 2: That's the craziest thing, you know.
[53:41] Speaker 3: I was about to be like, hey, I can always
[53:42] Speaker 3: make that same bet next season, but I think, if anything,
[53:44] Speaker 3: I'll save it for season fifty.
[53:46] Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
[53:47] Speaker 2: Well, here's what I'm hoping for is BONDI will be
[53:49] Speaker 2: back for season fifty.
[53:50] Speaker 3: That's what I really want. Crazy. I have a few
[53:53] Speaker 3: more things I wanted to talk about, but please, do
[53:55] Speaker 3: you have anything he left on your list?
[53:58] Speaker 1: As far as stuff from the episode that was it?
[54:01] Speaker 1: I actually had that Kyle clip cued up, but Jonathan
[54:04] Speaker 1: got to it before.
[54:05] Speaker 2: No way, were you shocked that I did any research
[54:09] Speaker 2: before an episode.
[54:11] Speaker 1: I was not shocked that you jumped into play producer.
[54:15] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[54:15] Speaker 3: Well, well, hey, I think I'll say I think Jonathan
[54:20] Speaker 3: did a good job with that segment.
[54:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, and he got to it the moment I was
[54:24] Speaker 1: going to get to it all.
[54:25] Speaker 2: Yeah, stopped treating me like a five year old that
[54:28] Speaker 2: y'all like put on this podcast. Like, good job, Jonathan,
[54:31] Speaker 2: you really did it. You're talking so good this week.
[54:34] Speaker 3: You know what I wanted to talk about next is
[54:38] Speaker 3: the first look at Survivor forty eight that we got.
[54:44] Speaker 1: It was pretty epic. I mean, it was the same
[54:46] Speaker 1: as all the other ones, and I'm like, you know,
[54:48] Speaker 1: you know nothing about any.
[54:49] Speaker 2: Of these people, but well that's what I was thinking.
[54:51] Speaker 2: I was like, I don't know that I've stuck it
[54:53] Speaker 2: stuck out.
[54:54] Speaker 3: That's not true. So some stuff stuck out to me.
[54:56] Speaker 3: And that's what I want to bring up, and I
[54:58] Speaker 3: will say I do miss There was a chunk of
[55:01] Speaker 3: time of Survivor when the first looks for next season,
[55:03] Speaker 3: like every season had.
[55:04] Speaker 1: Like a theme, yes and so.
[55:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, because it would be like next season and it
[55:10] Speaker 3: would be like we're bringing back all injured players.
[55:13] Speaker 2: And it's like what, Yeah, like it's millennials versus jazz or.
[55:18] Speaker 3: Yeah, stuff like that. So there's not like a theme.
[55:21] Speaker 3: So it's very much just like, here's some people that
[55:22] Speaker 3: are going to be playing, but out of the people
[55:24] Speaker 3: that are going to be playing, here's some early looks
[55:28] Speaker 3: that we might be wanting to draft next season. The
[55:31] Speaker 3: first there's a guy who's a single dad and he's
[55:35] Speaker 3: doing it for his kids, which made which made me think,
[55:39] Speaker 3: like if you're a single dad and you're on Fiji,
[55:42] Speaker 3: where are your kids?
[55:44] Speaker 1: Dog? Yeah, with him?
[55:47] Speaker 3: And also like that would be crazy if his if
[55:53] Speaker 3: his if him being a single dad is such a
[55:55] Speaker 3: struggle that that's like his big struggle for the season
[55:58] Speaker 3: or survivor he should not have, Like like how are
[56:02] Speaker 3: you able to leave you? Like, if you have someone
[56:03] Speaker 3: to leave your kids with for a month, then I
[56:06] Speaker 3: think you're I think you're doing all right, like you
[56:08] Speaker 3: have help.
[56:09] Speaker 2: Well, here's the other twist. He's a single dad, but
[56:12] Speaker 2: it's because his wife left him and has full custody.
[56:14] Speaker 1: That's yeah, question for Kristen. I mean, you know, being
[56:21] Speaker 1: a single mother, would you be able to go answer?
[56:24] Speaker 2: You know, here's the here's the thing, guys, Kristen's not
[56:26] Speaker 2: here because she had to go put our baby to sleep.
[56:28] Speaker 1: She left again.
[56:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, right now I have a question, how much does
[56:33] Speaker 3: that baby sleep, dude, every time it's worth no matter
[56:36] Speaker 3: when we're recording, you're like, dude, we're trying to get
[56:38] Speaker 3: the baby to go to sleep.
[56:39] Speaker 2: Look, babies sleep more than you think. That's what I
[56:43] Speaker 2: will say is that you feel like your life is okay,
[56:46] Speaker 2: I've got a two hour window, and then that baby
[56:48] Speaker 2: needs to sleep again, and then it's dude, it's uh.
[56:51] Speaker 2: It takes over your life. It really does.
[56:54] Speaker 3: So you should just get up and go play survivor
[56:57] Speaker 3: you just leave?
[56:57] Speaker 1: Yeah I should.
[56:58] Speaker 3: I'll be like, anyway, I got this. There's so there's
[57:01] Speaker 3: a guy who's a single dad and that was like
[57:02] Speaker 3: a big selling point for him. Then we have Chocolate
[57:05] Speaker 3: Milk Captain America. This dude was jacked and he said
[57:10] Speaker 3: it was all thanks to chocolate Milk no to me. Yeah,
[57:16] Speaker 3: and then last so you know, you could draft the
[57:19] Speaker 3: single dad, you could draft Chocolate Milk Captain America or
[57:23] Speaker 3: our autistic queen. She was like, I am on the
[57:27] Speaker 3: spectrum and I'm gonna be real dude. She like, just
[57:30] Speaker 3: from this preview, I'm she might be my first pick.
[57:34] Speaker 3: Because the edit that she got at the end of
[57:37] Speaker 3: that trailer for next season, I was like, oh, this
[57:39] Speaker 3: is like, this is someone that yeah, talk really well,
[57:42] Speaker 3: and I think they're gonna push hard in the confession, like.
[57:45] Speaker 2: I just need you to hyper fixate on this game.
[57:47] Speaker 2: That's what you're gonna hope from.
[57:49] Speaker 7: Yeah.
[57:49] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. If there's one thing that I learned from
[57:54] Speaker 1: this season, it's that don't go off the marketing. Don't
[57:58] Speaker 1: go off the commercials, because if I would have been
[58:01] Speaker 1: able to, I thought I would have been able to
[58:02] Speaker 1: pick John love it.
[58:04] Speaker 2: Yeah right, And I mean we clearly had two different
[58:08] Speaker 2: opinions of Genevieve this season, which I don't again, I
[58:12] Speaker 2: don't even want to get into that. Yeah, like there's
[58:15] Speaker 2: but uh well, we'll say that that was one of
[58:17] Speaker 2: the weaker takes of everybody on here, and I'll keep
[58:20] Speaker 2: reminding you of it.
[58:21] Speaker 1: So season preview, I know, but it's the bearded dude.
[58:27] Speaker 1: He seemed pretty cool. Yeah yeah, okay, it.
[58:31] Speaker 2: So so far we have chocolate me, Chocolate.
[58:39] Speaker 3: America.
[58:40] Speaker 1: Yeah, chocolate, but.
[58:41] Speaker 2: Captain America, guy with a beard, single dad, the autistic queen,
[58:45] Speaker 2: the autistic queen, and that's what you gathered from that.
[58:49] Speaker 3: Uh yeah. And I was like, hey, guys, this is like, hey,
[58:51] Speaker 3: keep keep our eye out for them.
[58:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, dims On bearded guy.
[58:55] Speaker 1: You know, also, you just want to pick somebody who's
[58:58] Speaker 1: most like you.
[58:59] Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I like to see myself in all
[59:02] Speaker 2: of my players.
[59:02] Speaker 1: You know, that's why you picked Genevieve the Lawyer. Yeah,
[59:07] Speaker 1: totally see yourself as a Canadian female lawyer.
[59:10] Speaker 2: Yeah, the Canadian female lawyer. But most importantly, not a
[59:14] Speaker 2: winner of any seasons of spec.
[59:18] Speaker 1: All right, So, I mean, starting from the Chase victory
[59:22] Speaker 1: speech all the way until the season forty eight preview,
[59:27] Speaker 1: we have done it. We have recapped the final episode
[59:30] Speaker 1: of season forty seven, and what a season it was
[59:34] Speaker 1: for Survivor and for our podcast.
[59:37] Speaker 3: Heck idea.
[59:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, what a twist on the on the
[59:41] Speaker 2: podcast listenership. I mean, I mean, I know, I feel
[59:44] Speaker 2: appreciative of just how many people are messaging us, emailing us, listening, subscribing.
[59:52] Speaker 2: It's crazy. I mean, Petie, you're putting in a lot
[59:56] Speaker 2: of legwork with the audio edits, Chase you're editing a lot,
[59:58] Speaker 2: and then we're all kind of like managing social stuff.
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: But it's like, I don't think any of us. Uh
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: what is the word you used earlier for looted?
[1:00:08] Speaker 1: Uh?
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: I don't think any of us for looted. How successful
[1:00:13] Speaker 2: this will be, yeah, for all of us. And it's
[1:00:15] Speaker 2: just it's so fun.
[1:00:17] Speaker 3: Me and people were talking earlier, and you can actually
[1:00:19] Speaker 3: tell the exact moment where we're like, oh, we need
[1:00:22] Speaker 3: to actually start trying.
[1:00:23] Speaker 2: Yeah. It was basically like three weeks in where we
[1:00:28] Speaker 2: were like, oh, no, there's people listening.
[1:00:30] Speaker 1: Literally, I was looking through the screenshots of like me
[1:00:34] Speaker 1: sending numbers to you guys, because I was able to, like,
[1:00:36] Speaker 1: because I've sent so many that I was able to see,
[1:00:38] Speaker 1: like where we popped off. The first two weeks of
[1:00:41] Speaker 1: the show. We had twelve listeners. Yeah, crazy, not as
[1:00:46] Speaker 1: much as we were going to get. Yeah.
[1:00:48] Speaker 2: I was like, I can't believe that more people than
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: us are listening.
[1:00:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, and then episode four, the rom clips propelled us.
[1:00:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, and TikTok is going to be missed if it
[1:00:59] Speaker 3: gets banned, dude, because I've been having such a good
[1:01:01] Speaker 3: time in the TikTok comments section everybody has to say
[1:01:03] Speaker 3: about Survivor, and I just want to because I know
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: we're gonna do an episode next week, and I think
[1:01:09] Speaker 3: we have a few more episodes planned after that with
[1:01:10] Speaker 3: some pretty big surprises, maybe even a contestant from this season.
[1:01:16] Speaker 3: I'm not gonna say anything, but I do want to
[1:01:19] Speaker 3: say we we have yes, yeah, no, we have some
[1:01:27] Speaker 3: little things planned for next season which I haven't even
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: talked to Jonathan about. I've just mentioned a PD planned
[1:01:34] Speaker 3: for next season that will help since we've gained so
[1:01:37] Speaker 3: many people so quickly, we didn't really plan for that.
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: But we have some stuff in the works to help
[1:01:41] Speaker 3: connect with you guys even more for next season. If
[1:01:44] Speaker 3: we lose TikTok, make sure you guys go over to
[1:01:46] Speaker 3: the Instagram and the YouTube so that way you can
[1:01:48] Speaker 3: still keep up with the clips and everything. And I
[1:01:50] Speaker 3: love getting to talk to you guys in the comments
[1:01:52] Speaker 3: about that. And then also, well you know what, I'm
[1:01:57] Speaker 3: gonna save this next little bit for next week so
[1:01:59] Speaker 3: that you guys have actually listen.
[1:02:00] Speaker 1: So one thing I wanted to talk about.
[1:02:06] Speaker 3: But I do want to say I we I'll speak
[1:02:09] Speaker 3: for all of us when I say that this is
[1:02:11] Speaker 3: a little inside baseball. When we talked about doing this
[1:02:15] Speaker 3: pod in the Instagram page before the season started, I
[1:02:22] Speaker 3: think we were all in a place where it was like,
[1:02:24] Speaker 3: we really don't have the time to put a bunch
[1:02:26] Speaker 3: of work into something, and so I was like, well,
[1:02:29] Speaker 3: let's just do an Instagram page, and we just kind
[1:02:31] Speaker 3: of like let people chop up with our draft. And
[1:02:35] Speaker 3: PD really pushed hard to do the podcast, and he
[1:02:40] Speaker 3: really took the flag. He does all the editing, he
[1:02:42] Speaker 3: puts in a lot of hours, he watches every episode twice,
[1:02:45] Speaker 3: he takes detailed notes like he really is the driving
[1:02:48] Speaker 3: force behind this podcast. And so thanks to PD's hard
[1:02:53] Speaker 3: work into even making us do the podcast in the
[1:02:56] Speaker 3: first place, because I was like, I don't have time
[1:02:58] Speaker 3: to do a podcast, but I'm really really glad I did.
[1:03:02] Speaker 3: And I've been having a great time this season. Thank
[1:03:04] Speaker 3: you all for listening. Thank you PD for for making
[1:03:06] Speaker 3: this happen. And also, Jonathan, you suck dude so hard.
[1:03:11] Speaker 1: I was trying, so I was.
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: I was ready for a thank you, but you know.
[1:03:16] Speaker 1: Thank you for what you said about me, Chase. I
[1:03:18] Speaker 1: appreciate all this stuff you said about me. I was
[1:03:21] Speaker 1: very kind.
[1:03:23] Speaker 2: Oh man, So well, guys, some things don't change over
[1:03:26] Speaker 2: this season.
[1:03:27] Speaker 3: You know, work on it. I will give Jonathan a
[1:03:30] Speaker 3: compliment because I felt like I needed to end it
[1:03:33] Speaker 3: on a bit and not with sincerity, but I will say, Jonathan,
[1:03:37] Speaker 3: You've done a great job cultivating the community over on TikTok.
[1:03:42] Speaker 2: Look, I just, uh, what can I say? I'm really
[1:03:46] Speaker 2: good at cultivating things that never make it to the end.
[1:03:49] Speaker 1: That's what. Uh, that's what you know.
[1:03:51] Speaker 2: TikTok's about to be asked before it wins and is successful,
[1:03:55] Speaker 2: just like all of my contestants that I draft.
[1:03:57] Speaker 1: So yeah, and one thing about Jonathan to give Jonathan
[1:04:01] Speaker 1: some praise, he I think it was a round of
[1:04:05] Speaker 1: the podcast. Yeah, around episode three or four, Jonathan called me.
[1:04:08] Speaker 1: I think he facetimed me like three different times that day,
[1:04:11] Speaker 1: and he was like, all right, so I got us
[1:04:12] Speaker 1: on YouTube, I got us on this platform. I got
[1:04:14] Speaker 1: us on this platform.
[1:04:15] Speaker 2: Oh that's true.
[1:04:16] Speaker 1: I forgot about Jonathan just went crazy one day and
[1:04:18] Speaker 1: put us up everywhere.
[1:04:20] Speaker 2: I was like, give me that RSS feed and I
[1:04:23] Speaker 2: just took it, and I thought, if we're gonna be podcasting,
[1:04:26] Speaker 2: it's gotta be everywhere. And I just had a what
[1:04:29] Speaker 2: can I say, I hyper fixated for a moment and
[1:04:32] Speaker 2: just started copying and pasting RSS feeds. So yeah, that's
[1:04:36] Speaker 2: that's what I love. But looks since we're all saying
[1:04:39] Speaker 2: sweet and nice things. I'll keep this very short. I've
[1:04:42] Speaker 2: had so much fun doing this. I can't wait to
[1:04:45] Speaker 2: keep on doing this. I'm excited for more that we
[1:04:48] Speaker 2: have planned.
[1:04:49] Speaker 1: P D.
[1:04:49] Speaker 2: Thank you for the work you're putting in. And Chase,
[1:04:52] Speaker 2: I don't know, thanks for like, I guess kind of
[1:04:56] Speaker 2: doing something. What do you what do you do?
[1:04:57] Speaker 1: What is it?
[1:04:58] Speaker 3: Oh? You know all of those viral clips that we have?
[1:05:01] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, I
[1:05:06] Speaker 2: just I just blank out whenever I start watching them.
[1:05:09] Speaker 1: Chase makes all those clips while he's supposed to be working. Yeah,
[1:05:12] Speaker 1: that's yeah.
[1:05:14] Speaker 2: But actually, a huge shout out to Chase for shouting
[1:05:19] Speaker 2: us out on your YouTube channel on a massive video
[1:05:23] Speaker 2: for you, because that also boosted what what can we say, guys,
[1:05:26] Speaker 2: it's a group effort and uh, we're just we're very
[1:05:30] Speaker 2: thankful for each other. And now we're gonna stop being
[1:05:33] Speaker 2: nice and hopefully we can get Kristen for more than
[1:05:36] Speaker 2: like five minutes an episode in the future. I agree
[1:05:40] Speaker 2: because she was a pivotal part of this draft. You know,
[1:05:44] Speaker 2: That's what I say.
[1:05:47] Speaker 3: Can you imagine if Kristin would have won this season?
[1:05:51] Speaker 1: Like, oh uh, there was one more topic I wanted
[1:05:55] Speaker 1: to get to about the season as a whole. And
[1:05:59] Speaker 1: it's something that Jonathan had brought up in the previous
[1:06:02] Speaker 1: episode that I edited out because I did not want
[1:06:05] Speaker 1: to bring any attention to this. It's the Rome scandal.
[1:06:09] Speaker 2: Yes, yes, dude, the room skin. I brought this up
[1:06:13] Speaker 2: and then it was confirmed, right, yes, like he actually
[1:06:17] Speaker 2: he actually leaked.
[1:06:18] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, he got one, like he got like six
[1:06:23] Speaker 1: and seven mixed up. But the rest were like dead
[1:06:25] Speaker 1: on as far as who went home. Let's explain what
[1:06:28] Speaker 1: this is to anybody who hasn't heard, because like we've
[1:06:31] Speaker 1: made sure not to talk about it. I'm sure a
[1:06:33] Speaker 1: lot of other people have as well, because spoilers suck.
[1:06:36] Speaker 1: But Rome went on an exit interview and he was
[1:06:40] Speaker 1: supposed to do word association and they're like, hey, so
[1:06:44] Speaker 1: we got a list and he's like, you know what,
[1:06:45] Speaker 1: I'll do my own list, and then he proceeds to
[1:06:48] Speaker 1: list off like the boot order. Yeah, for the last
[1:06:53] Speaker 1: half of the season.
[1:06:57] Speaker 2: A crazy move, especially for somebody who says, yeah, I
[1:07:01] Speaker 2: want to co host on the Survivor podcast with Jeff
[1:07:04] Speaker 2: next season. You're like, that's a quick way to not
[1:07:07] Speaker 2: get invited to do that. Ye, Like to spoil the
[1:07:11] Speaker 2: whole season. Dude, It's crazy to me. That just shows
[1:07:15] Speaker 2: that Rome is just as rogue in real life.
[1:07:19] Speaker 3: Is there a way, like where can I find this online? Like,
[1:07:22] Speaker 3: where have you guys been seeing this?
[1:07:23] Speaker 2: Well?
[1:07:24] Speaker 1: I watched the actual video. Yeah, the whole interview is
[1:07:26] Speaker 1: posted on YouTube.
[1:07:28] Speaker 8: Oh okay, I watched a clip of it on TikTok,
[1:07:33] Speaker 8: I think, but I saw it pop up and immediately
[1:07:41] Speaker 8: saw the caption where it was like Rome spoils and
[1:07:44] Speaker 8: I was like, no, I'm out and just ran away.
[1:07:48] Speaker 3: Everyone's talking about how Room's about to get sued by CBS.
[1:07:51] Speaker 1: Dude, Yeah, I think he should, because I honestly signed
[1:07:56] Speaker 1: something after that happened. I would see in comment sections
[1:08:00] Speaker 1: being like Rachel wins, Rome said it like Rome spoiled it,
[1:08:03] Speaker 1: Rachel wins, And then I had to stop even looking
[1:08:05] Speaker 1: at comment sections. Yeah about Survivor for a little bit.
[1:08:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. I I was very cautious after finding
[1:08:14] Speaker 2: out that I didn't get it spoiled except by PD so.
[1:08:21] Speaker 1: Crazy.
[1:08:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty wild. What a what a terrible decision,
[1:08:26] Speaker 2: What a.
[1:08:26] Speaker 1: Terrible person, because like at least he was like kind
[1:08:29] Speaker 1: of entertaining as a bad guy before, but now it's
[1:08:32] Speaker 1: just like, oh, you're actually a piece of.
[1:08:35] Speaker 2: Being a jerk. Yeah, dude, it's so annoying. But you know,
[1:08:41] Speaker 2: he didn't spoil our fun. We we made it happen.
[1:08:44] Speaker 2: And Chase, Uh, you're you're a winner.
[1:08:47] Speaker 3: I am, and uh, I guess I guess I'll be
[1:08:50] Speaker 3: getting my trophy and then I'll I'm gonna be working
[1:08:52] Speaker 3: on the the Letterman jacket. Yeah Christmas. Christmas is kind
[1:08:57] Speaker 3: of time. Yeah, but I'm gonna make the Letterman jacket,
[1:09:00] Speaker 3: and uh, we'll post pictures and stuff and we're gonna
[1:09:02] Speaker 3: we got a few more weeks of episode, so we'll
[1:09:04] Speaker 3: talk more about this stuff later. But yeah, super exciting.
[1:09:07] Speaker 1: Chase, how did it feel, just as our last thing
[1:09:09] Speaker 1: for this episode? How did the moment that you realize
[1:09:13] Speaker 1: she was the winner? How did it feel?
[1:09:16] Speaker 3: Dude? I was like I was screaming on my couch.
[1:09:21] Speaker 3: I was like, let's blink and go, Like I was
[1:09:25] Speaker 3: just saying that over. I was just extremely hype. Uh,
[1:09:28] Speaker 3: there was a I will say I was pretty confident
[1:09:31] Speaker 3: she was going to win the past two episodes, but
[1:09:35] Speaker 3: I got really nervous. Yeah, I got really nervous close
[1:09:39] Speaker 3: to the final tribal because I was like, what if
[1:09:42] Speaker 3: Sam wins? And then when it actually happened, I felt
[1:09:45] Speaker 3: like this giant sense of relief, a ton of excitement,
[1:09:50] Speaker 3: a lot of pride because, uh, what a season to win,
[1:09:54] Speaker 3: you know.
[1:09:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, just like we've talked about. It was the
[1:09:58] Speaker 1: first ever podcast last season, so we got to document
[1:10:02] Speaker 1: every step of the way your journey.
[1:10:04] Speaker 3: And I mean, this is the first time I had
[1:10:06] Speaker 3: someone in the final three, let alone.
[1:10:10] Speaker 1: Win besides the first time because when it was just the.
[1:10:13] Speaker 3: Two of us. Yeah, but even then I only had
[1:10:15] Speaker 3: one and you had the other two.
[1:10:18] Speaker 1: You had Heidi and Carolyn, but Carolyn was a zero vote.
[1:10:22] Speaker 3: You're right, You're right, man, that's crazy. That feels like
[1:10:25] Speaker 3: so long ago. And then I also when Saul got eliminated,
[1:10:30] Speaker 3: I really at that point I wasn't sure Rachel had
[1:10:33] Speaker 3: it in or so I really thought my season was
[1:10:35] Speaker 3: over before we even got to the final six. So
[1:10:40] Speaker 3: the the changing of emotions, Wow, man, really got what
[1:10:44] Speaker 3: a craziest. I had a ton of fun doing this.
[1:10:45] Speaker 3: I had a ton of fun watching and I'm really
[1:10:47] Speaker 3: glad I won.
[1:10:49] Speaker 2: Last note. Last note is Salt was indeed wearing another
[1:10:54] Speaker 2: vest without another shirt under it.
[1:10:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, didn't do it again.
[1:10:58] Speaker 2: He pulled it off. He made it happened one last
[1:11:00] Speaker 2: time for the season, and uh we sexy.
[1:11:05] Speaker 1: We couldn't be happier about sexy baby man.
[1:11:09] Speaker 2: We need the sall workout regimen is what needs to happen,
[1:11:12] Speaker 2: you know, figure out what's going on.
[1:11:13] Speaker 1: This time, it was a blue vest and a blue scarf.
[1:11:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, the scarf was there. That was like he's adding some.
[1:11:20] Speaker 3: Flair to it, like I'm not gonna wear a shirt,
[1:11:22] Speaker 3: but I might get chilli.
[1:11:24] Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, totally Yeah.
[1:11:28] Speaker 1: What a season, What an episode Survivor forty seven. But
[1:11:34] Speaker 1: it's not over for us. We're gonna continue to be here,
[1:11:36] Speaker 1: maybe one of the only Survivor podcasts that's gonna continue
[1:11:40] Speaker 1: to put out episodes through the off season to keep
[1:11:43] Speaker 1: up the hype.
[1:11:45] Speaker 3: Stuff we got stuff playing all right
[1:11:48] Speaker 1: Bye, all right, making the merge out
