## Transcript

[0:00] Speaker 1: All right, on this Friday episode of Nothing Major, we
[0:03] Speaker 1: are joined by special guest Adam Lefkoe. We're going to
[0:06] Speaker 1: talk travel pet peeves. We're going to pick Lefkoe's brain.
[0:09] Speaker 1: Get ready. This is a jam-packed episode. Jack Jones, Stevie
[0:13] Speaker 1: and Sam. Got close a few times, never won a slam.
[0:16] Speaker 1: Nothing major. All right, this is exciting for the pod.
[0:19] Speaker 1: We have a guest joining us for the Friday episode,
[0:22] Speaker 1: the host of NBA on TNT. You also hosted NCAA
[0:26] Speaker 1: March Madness. You host everything on TNT, but most importantly,
[0:30] Speaker 1: you host Roland Garros now on TNT. Adam Lefkoe is
[0:34] Speaker 1: joining us. Adam, thanks for coming on.
[0:36] Speaker 2: Listen, these are my two favorite hosts of the Nothing
[0:39] Speaker 2: Major podcast.
[0:40] Speaker 1: Thank you.
[0:41] Speaker 2: And the fact that Isner is just gallivanting around right now,
[0:44] Speaker 2: to use Steve's word, just who knows what he's doing
[0:47] Speaker 2: right now. But it's embarrassing, but I'm happy to be here.
[0:49] Speaker 1: He probably had a trendy lunch in Dallas.
[0:52] Speaker 2: I even brought... A bomber.
[0:55] Speaker 1: Yeah, the bomber jacket. You always wear the bomber jacket
[0:57] Speaker 1: on air. It's the best look.
[0:58] Speaker 3: It looks so good.
[0:59] Speaker 1: I bought two new bomber jackets to match you this
[1:02] Speaker 1: year at Roland Garros.
[1:04] Speaker 2: So I wanted to ask, why was this such a
[1:07] Speaker 2: big deal for you guys? Because, you know, like our
[1:10] Speaker 2: guy Prakash is always in like the polo. But why
[1:12] Speaker 2: were you guys like, ooh, I like the bomber?
[1:15] Speaker 1: Because clearly I do. Steve Weissman, Prakash, any other tennis
[1:19] Speaker 1: host you ever see is always just in the really nice,
[1:23] Speaker 1: perfectly ironed suit. And you've been like the first guy
[1:26] Speaker 1: that's ever come in and you got the trendy bomber
[1:30] Speaker 1: and we like it. We're obsessed with it. And then,
[1:32] Speaker 1: you know, Roland Garros last year, you went like morning
[1:34] Speaker 1: bomber and then you switched to the evening classiness of
[1:37] Speaker 1: the suit. All right. But first question, I want to go,
[1:40] Speaker 1: go back to you. When TNT got the rights to
[1:44] Speaker 1: Roland Garros, whenever that was a year and a half ago,
[1:46] Speaker 1: they obviously called you. They were like, Lefkoe, we got
[1:49] Speaker 1: the rights. What is your interest level in hosting the
[1:52] Speaker 1: desk for TNT? I'm assuming you didn't really know much
[1:55] Speaker 1: about tennis at the time. Was that something where you
[1:59] Speaker 1: were like, I'm in right away or like, Oh, I
[2:02] Speaker 1: don't know tennis. Let me think about it.
[2:04] Speaker 2: It was, so, you know, Craig Barry, who is the
[2:06] Speaker 2: executive producer over there. It kind of came down. It
[2:10] Speaker 2: was an NBA night and I walked into his room
[2:12] Speaker 2: and I was like, I love tennis. And he like
[2:15] Speaker 2: kind of looked at me. He's like, really? And I
[2:16] Speaker 2: was like, yeah, man. I was like, my mom was,
[2:19] Speaker 2: chasing usta rankings when i was a kid and i've
[2:23] Speaker 2: always been more of a slam guy like i'll like
[2:26] Speaker 2: for me i'll never forget being a news reporter in
[2:29] Speaker 2: nebraska uh for 2008 wimbledon federer nadal and like watching
[2:35] Speaker 2: that like not wanting to go to my story so
[2:37] Speaker 2: like slams i've always liked and then for me it
[2:41] Speaker 2: was just sort of i this is a huge deal
[2:45] Speaker 2: for us as a company and i want to be
[2:46] Speaker 2: a part of it And then once they were like, okay,
[2:50] Speaker 2: we're going to trust you on this, then it was
[2:54] Speaker 2: let's switch all of my inputs and listen to as
[2:57] Speaker 2: many tennis podcasts and watch tennis channel every time and
[3:01] Speaker 2: just start. And God bless Brian Anderson, the play-by-play guy
[3:06] Speaker 2: who's phenomenal. He set up all these little calls with like,
[3:10] Speaker 2: here's an hour with Jim Currier, here's an hour with Davenport,
[3:14] Speaker 2: just to like pick brains because– So much of the
[3:17] Speaker 2: first two months was learning what to say and what
[3:20] Speaker 2: not to say. And some of it even happened in
[3:22] Speaker 2: Paris where you'd like after a segment go, hey, by
[3:25] Speaker 2: the way, it's 6-1, 6-2, not 6-1, 6-2. And so
[3:30] Speaker 2: it's the little things that– because, dude, I didn't want
[3:34] Speaker 2: to be an outsider. It's a slam. It means so much.
[3:39] Speaker 2: And I wanted to do it correctly. But, yeah, man,
[3:42] Speaker 2: I jumped all over that. I wanted to do it
[3:44] Speaker 2: so bad. Nice.
[3:45] Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you kind of talk about like the
[3:46] Speaker 3: nuance to tennis, right? Like it is tricky because, you know, you–
[3:50] Speaker 3: I would say like watching Roland Garros last year for me,
[3:52] Speaker 3: obviously I was home. Like watching the desk, watching you
[3:55] Speaker 3: and Sam and whoever else you guys had, Carolyn Wozniacki, whoever.
[3:58] Speaker 3: Like you guys brought so much– Carolyn?
[4:02] Speaker 1: Wozniacki? Caroline?
[4:03] Speaker 3: Caroline? Don't get me on pronunciation, guys.
[4:05] Speaker 1: She's not 85 years old. Hold on. Hold on.
[4:08] Speaker 3: Don't get me on pronunciation. And I was just going
[4:10] Speaker 3: to say Woz, but I forgot. We have to say
[4:12] Speaker 3: first names and I panicked.
[4:13] Speaker 2: Okay?
[4:14] Speaker 1: And I panicked.
[4:15] Speaker 3: Be nice to Steve. Nah, it's all right. It's just normal. But,
[4:18] Speaker 3: you know, watching you guys, like you guys are the
[4:20] Speaker 3: lifeblood when they cut you guys in between matches because
[4:22] Speaker 3: we all know how good the matches are. But getting
[4:24] Speaker 3: the personality, which I think you guys get out of
[4:26] Speaker 3: the players, is so phenomenal. So, I mean, were you
[4:30] Speaker 3: studying every player? Did you have to like, did you
[4:32] Speaker 3: have somebody help you like get information on Sabalenka's or
[4:35] Speaker 3: even some of the lesser known people when they pop
[4:37] Speaker 3: to the desk?
[4:38] Speaker 2: So you definitely do a ton of prep beforehand, especially
[4:41] Speaker 2: for my first one, learning who they are. And then
[4:44] Speaker 2: we have statisticians that help with what happened in that match,
[4:48] Speaker 2: what could be in the next match. But I'm more
[4:52] Speaker 2: of a story over stat guy. I don't think stats
[4:55] Speaker 2: really resonate as much with anybody else. I think having Carolyn,
[4:59] Speaker 2: as you call it, or Caroline.
[5:01] Speaker 1: I'm panicked. I'm panicked.
[5:03] Speaker 2: No, no. It was incredible how many athletes would come
[5:07] Speaker 2: to the desk and she'd be like, oh, we hang
[5:09] Speaker 2: out together in Monte Carlo. So it's sort of like
[5:12] Speaker 2: having this ultimate wing person that they would come and
[5:16] Speaker 2: they'd instantly love Caroline or they would know Sam or
[5:19] Speaker 2: they'd talk about. So then I kind of was like, okay,
[5:22] Speaker 2: by association. And then Sam can attest to this. I
[5:26] Speaker 2: have like 15 seconds to introduce myself before they're like,
[5:30] Speaker 2: they're handlers. Like we need to get out of here.
[5:32] Speaker 2: Or the producer's like, look, we're going live in 20.
[5:35] Speaker 2: And usually I would try, I'm giving a little way
[5:38] Speaker 2: of trade secret.
[5:39] Speaker 1: I tell people this, this is the number one thing
[5:42] Speaker 1: I learned from you.
[5:43] Speaker 2: I try and curse in those 20 seconds before we
[5:47] Speaker 2: go on air, just to show the athlete that I'm
[5:51] Speaker 2: not there to get you. And that I'm closer to
[5:54] Speaker 2: them in age than maybe some other TV people they've
[5:57] Speaker 2: been around. So sometimes it's great. I would lean into
[6:02] Speaker 2: Carlos and I'd be like, you're a bad MF-er. And
[6:04] Speaker 2: he would look at his people and he'd be like,
[6:06] Speaker 2: who are you? And I'd be like, don't worry about it, bro.
[6:09] Speaker 2: We're going to have a great time. And then there
[6:11] Speaker 2: were people like Rublev who I did it and he
[6:14] Speaker 2: was like, How long is this going to take? And
[6:17] Speaker 2: I was like, oh my God, that didn't go well
[6:20] Speaker 2: at all. But I wanted to feel when we're up there,
[6:26] Speaker 2: not as much of a safe space because we'll get
[6:29] Speaker 2: to interesting conversations when they happen, but one of us,
[6:33] Speaker 2: you know, we're, we're one of you. We, we can
[6:35] Speaker 2: understand what you're going through and we want to have
[6:37] Speaker 2: a good time. And Oh, believe me, man, Steve, it was,
[6:41] Speaker 2: it's what I had hoped would happen. And I thought
[6:43] Speaker 2: it did, especially with people like EGA, like that, that
[6:47] Speaker 2: connection we had with her from the beginning was awesome.
[6:50] Speaker 1: I was tight. We had EGA on the desk. It
[6:51] Speaker 1: was her birthday. You got her a cake. And then
[6:54] Speaker 1: we gave this giant knife to cut slices of her cake.
[6:57] Speaker 1: Everyone's like, is she going to cut her fingers right now?
[7:00] Speaker 1: I'm tight. Speaking of being tight, like when I was
[7:03] Speaker 1: on the desk with you, I would be way more–
[7:06] Speaker 1: like when like Novak or Carlos or like Iga came
[7:09] Speaker 1: to the desk, like my heartbeat– I should wear a
[7:11] Speaker 1: whoop thing because like I feel like it would go
[7:13] Speaker 1: to like 150. Way more nervous than that than when
[7:16] Speaker 1: I was playing tennis. One, does that ever happen to you? Two,
[7:19] Speaker 1: at Roland Garros, who is the most– what was the
[7:21] Speaker 1: most nervous you got for– why can't I play this?
[7:24] Speaker 1: Who did you get most nervous for on the desk?
[7:26] Speaker 2: So– I, my, it's, there's this old joke about running
[7:31] Speaker 2: away from a vampire where I don't need to be
[7:33] Speaker 2: faster than the vampire. I just have to be faster
[7:35] Speaker 2: than the other people that are running from the vampire.
[7:38] Speaker 2: And that's how I feel about TV. And so like
[7:41] Speaker 2: when you would get nervous, it would calm me down.
[7:43] Speaker 2: If that makes sense.
[7:45] Speaker 3: That's great.
[7:46] Speaker 1: I had that. So I'm just sorry to cut you off,
[7:47] Speaker 1: but like I'd have, if we were on the desk
[7:48] Speaker 1: and like some Eubanks asked a bad question, I was like, yes,
[7:52] Speaker 1: like idiot. Now I'm going to look good.
[7:57] Speaker 2: But it was– I love the 30 seconds before air
[8:01] Speaker 2: when I look around and the camera guy's shoulders get
[8:05] Speaker 2: tight and the floor director is like, okay, okay. And
[8:10] Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, I'm not as nervous as them. And
[8:12] Speaker 2: that's just a reminder like have fun.
[8:14] Speaker 1: Who cares?
[8:16] Speaker 2: In terms– I remember the most nervous Sam was and
[8:20] Speaker 2: I was nervous too– was the desk that we had
[8:23] Speaker 2: for the finals where that morning it was Agassi, Currier, McEnroe,
[8:31] Speaker 2: me and Sam.
[8:32] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[8:32] Speaker 1: I hated it.
[8:33] Speaker 3: Can I– And we're looking around– Does someone stick out
[8:36] Speaker 3: there in that foursome?
[8:39] Speaker 2: Me, Sam and me.
[8:40] Speaker 3: No, no, no. You're an esteemed host.
[8:44] Speaker 2: But that's what I love though is like I was
[8:47] Speaker 2: looking around like I am surrounded by legends and then
[8:51] Speaker 2: Sam was like, I was like, Sam, I'm going to
[8:53] Speaker 2: go to you first so that we can get your insight.
[8:56] Speaker 2: Because once these guys start talking about major championships and
[9:00] Speaker 2: the pressure and all that, I would be setting Sam
[9:03] Speaker 2: in a bad spot. So I would always be like–
[9:08] Speaker 2: and Sam would be like– and we'd like give fist
[9:10] Speaker 2: bumps under the table. But it was like get Sam
[9:13] Speaker 2: in and then– because Sam knows like I've said it enough.
[9:17] Speaker 2: My dream is that everyone just starts talking to each
[9:20] Speaker 2: other and then I land the plane. I don't want
[9:23] Speaker 2: to give insight. That's not my job. And so the
[9:26] Speaker 2: most nervous I was, Steve, to be honest, was we
[9:30] Speaker 2: had Agassi. And then who did he play in the
[9:34] Speaker 2: French Open that we had on set.
[9:36] Speaker 1: That one time? Was he from Ukraine?
[9:38] Speaker 2: Yes. Oh, I forget his name.
[9:42] Speaker 1: Andre Medvedev?
[9:44] Speaker 2: Andre, it wasn't Andre.
[9:46] Speaker 1: It was an Andre. It was another Andre. Keep talking.
[9:49] Speaker 1: I'm going to look it up.
[9:50] Speaker 2: So, Steve, the reason I was nervous is they were
[9:53] Speaker 2: hugging in the green room and everything seems so great.
[9:56] Speaker 2: And sometimes I like to cede control. So I said,
[9:59] Speaker 2: Andre Agassi, you know what? You've known him for so long.
[10:02] Speaker 2: You get the first question. And his first question was,
[10:06] Speaker 2: how's everything going on in Ukraine with the war right now?
[10:09] Speaker 1: It was Andre Medvedev, by the way.
[10:11] Speaker 2: Andre Medvedev, yes. And he's giving this heartfelt response. Now, Steve, internally,
[10:18] Speaker 2: I'm going, this is a 10-minute segment. How am I
[10:22] Speaker 2: going to get this back to tennis? Because you can't
[10:25] Speaker 2: be like, war is crazy. You know what else is crazy?
[10:29] Speaker 2: Playing on the clay at Shotry.
[10:31] Speaker 1: The movement of Carlos Alcarez.
[10:34] Speaker 2: I don't remember how I got out of it, but it's,
[10:36] Speaker 2: you know, because you want to give it its right due.
[10:38] Speaker 2: And then we got into it. Then they had an
[10:39] Speaker 2: amazing conversation of tennis. But that I had a fan
[10:43] Speaker 2: that I would attach to my belt the entire time.
[10:46] Speaker 2: I needed that fan that day because I was sweating
[10:49] Speaker 2: during that.
[10:50] Speaker 3: But is that difficult for you? Like obviously having those guys,
[10:53] Speaker 3: you know, tennis isn't your first time dabbling into the
[10:56] Speaker 3: tennis world as a host. How do you go about
[11:00] Speaker 3: cutting somebody off to get to break, get to segment?
[11:02] Speaker 3: Is that nerve-wracking for you? Is that like, hey, Jim, sorry,
[11:05] Speaker 3: I know you want to break this down a little
[11:07] Speaker 3: bit longer, but we've got to cut here in 10 seconds.
[11:09] Speaker 3: How do you navigate that kind of area as a host?
[11:13] Speaker 2: I am someone that if they're in my ear going,
[11:16] Speaker 2: all right, we need to wrap, but we're in a
[11:19] Speaker 2: really interesting part, I'll just take that blame from the
[11:22] Speaker 2: producer later because I want a story to finish. I think...
[11:27] Speaker 2: It depends who it is. Agassi is the hardest one
[11:31] Speaker 2: because his stories are so good and they develop. And
[11:35] Speaker 2: I know if I cut him off, I could lose
[11:37] Speaker 2: him for future segments. Sometimes it's just as simple as
[11:41] Speaker 2: if I see that I'm off camera, I might just go.
[11:44] Speaker 2: I try and do a lot of nonverbal hosting. So
[11:49] Speaker 2: it might be I'm hitting Sam under the table. I
[11:52] Speaker 2: might touch Jim's hand. As much as I cannot be
[11:56] Speaker 2: the person ruining a story, the better, because I don't
[11:59] Speaker 2: want to be that guy.
[12:00] Speaker 1: So last year, first year on the desk, we had
[12:03] Speaker 1: a bunch of people through. This year, we start again
[12:05] Speaker 1: in about a month. Give us your top three guests
[12:08] Speaker 1: that you're excited to have back on the desk.
[12:11] Speaker 4: So.
[12:11] Speaker 1: Is it Anton? Is it Sabalenka's coach, Anton, who came
[12:14] Speaker 1: on like five times last year? He was awesome.
[12:16] Speaker 2: He was so great.
[12:17] Speaker 1: He doesn't count for this. Three players.
[12:19] Speaker 2: I think what's been surreal for me is to realize
[12:22] Speaker 2: that I have to wait 364 days to talk to
[12:25] Speaker 2: these people again. And if they lose, I don't get
[12:29] Speaker 2: a chance to talk to them. Djokovic to me was
[12:33] Speaker 2: so amazing and the crowd behind him was so electric
[12:37] Speaker 2: that And we got to talk about Kobe before the
[12:40] Speaker 2: cameras came on. And then his answers, he's brilliant. And
[12:45] Speaker 2: so I love that. And I love that that makes
[12:47] Speaker 2: me nervous. I really– I hope that I get to
[12:53] Speaker 2: finally talk to Medvedev because we didn't get him last
[12:56] Speaker 2: time because everyone that loses in the first round, Fritz
[13:00] Speaker 2: lost in the first round. Medvedev lost very early. They're gone.
[13:04] Speaker 2: And so– And all you guys talked about all week
[13:07] Speaker 2: was how fun Medvedev was. And so I really want
[13:10] Speaker 2: to get him on. The one thing that I want
[13:12] Speaker 2: to make happen, and I don't know if it's going
[13:15] Speaker 2: to happen, was Coco Gauff last year kept talking about
[13:19] Speaker 2: escape rooms. And I've been trying all year to figure
[13:22] Speaker 2: out how do we turn the set into an escape
[13:24] Speaker 2: room for the eight minutes that we have her. And
[13:26] Speaker 2: I don't want to give it away, but if that
[13:29] Speaker 2: can happen, I'll love that. Other people that were fun,
[13:32] Speaker 2: Tommy Paul, just the entire time. And Matthew McConaughey was
[13:37] Speaker 2: tweeting and he's wearing his mulch hat. Like that just,
[13:41] Speaker 2: it was great. It was a good time.
[13:42] Speaker 3: Do you find like, I mean, you know, you've done
[13:44] Speaker 3: it all. You're on the desk for NBA college for
[13:47] Speaker 3: the tennis players, obviously in a non-team atmosphere. Like, do
[13:50] Speaker 3: you find that it's more enjoyable to get these guys on,
[13:53] Speaker 3: to get some personalities, male or female players? You know,
[13:55] Speaker 3: out of a team sport aspect.
[13:56] Speaker 2: It's very different. And I think that and I think
[14:00] Speaker 2: you guys can attest to this. You guys get asked
[14:02] Speaker 2: the same question a lot.
[14:04] Speaker 1: It's the worst.
[14:05] Speaker 2: How do you feel? What do you need to work on?
[14:08] Speaker 2: What do you think of your next match? And and
[14:11] Speaker 2: that's it. And I think it. It's tough because a
[14:16] Speaker 2: lot of it– and then they want to talk about
[14:18] Speaker 2: like your mentality, which is like super invasive and you
[14:22] Speaker 2: guys are talking to therapists and you're the only ones
[14:24] Speaker 2: out there. The only thing I can equate it to
[14:27] Speaker 2: is like I covered a lot of baseball this year,
[14:29] Speaker 2: like NLCS. I was at the Dodgers game where Shohei
[14:33] Speaker 2: struck out 10 and hit three home runs. When you're
[14:38] Speaker 2: talking to a baseball player about– and let's say they're
[14:40] Speaker 2: in a slump. That's the closest thing I can come
[14:43] Speaker 2: to of like that mental pressure on you guys. I
[14:48] Speaker 2: thought last year– I think my favorite answer was Bublik
[14:53] Speaker 2: where I think it was against Draper. He had one
[14:59] Speaker 2: moment where on the set he was like, if I
[15:01] Speaker 2: would have lost that set, I would have quit.
[15:03] Speaker 3: And he's 100% would have done it.
[15:05] Speaker 1: I'm sitting there.
[15:06] Speaker 2: I'm just– I like sat back in my chair and
[15:07] Speaker 2: I was smiling and I was like, in no other
[15:10] Speaker 2: sport would an athlete be this honest. And so when
[15:14] Speaker 2: that honesty comes out– the other thing that I love, Steve,
[15:16] Speaker 2: about interviewing tennis players, the maturity of the young stars
[15:20] Speaker 2: blows my mind. Like there was one time we had
[15:24] Speaker 2: Ivo Jovic on last year and Sam and I for
[15:27] Speaker 2: the next hour was like, I've never met a mature–
[15:31] Speaker 2: teenage girl in my life than this person. Mira Andreeva
[15:35] Speaker 2: was the same way. So I love the maturity, but no,
[15:39] Speaker 2: I'm definitely doing a lot of prep right now for
[15:43] Speaker 2: the stars of, I get one question sometimes, what do
[15:46] Speaker 2: I want my question to be? And I don't necessarily
[15:49] Speaker 2: want it to be about their most recent IG post,
[15:52] Speaker 2: but I also don't want it to be about how'd
[15:54] Speaker 2: you play? And so that's the dynamic.
[15:56] Speaker 1: I feel like sometimes too, because it's such an international sport,
[15:59] Speaker 1: like I'll try to ask a question that's a little
[16:01] Speaker 1: outside the box, maybe a little witty and funny. And
[16:04] Speaker 1: that humor doesn't maybe land with like an Eastern European
[16:07] Speaker 1: and they'll just look at you and you're like, I
[16:08] Speaker 1: don't know. I should have just asked how you play.
[16:11] Speaker 2: That same Bublik interview, Steve, I said, you talked about
[16:17] Speaker 2: your son and he's two and three years old and
[16:20] Speaker 2: The fact that what you just did today, one of
[16:21] Speaker 2: your best performances, one day he's going to be able
[16:24] Speaker 2: to watch that. What does that mean to you? And
[16:26] Speaker 2: he was like, why would he watch? And I was like, no,
[16:29] Speaker 2: I'm just talking about it. And he goes, my son
[16:30] Speaker 2: doesn't even understand tennis. And I go, yeah, yeah, yeah, totally.
[16:34] Speaker 2: And then you just, as Sam said, just throw up
[16:36] Speaker 2: the white flag and you're like, got to feel good, huh? Okay.
[16:41] Speaker 3: Great match today. I'm glad you didn't tank that fifth
[16:42] Speaker 3: set against Draper because you would have.
[16:44] Speaker 1: He's for sure. Three years old. He can't turn on
[16:45] Speaker 1: the TV.

[17:49] Speaker 1: All right, so you're doing your prep outside of Sinner.
[17:52] Speaker 1: Outside of Sinner and Alcaraz. Give us like a couple
[17:56] Speaker 1: storylines you're like really excited for at Roland Garros.
[18:00] Speaker 3: You can throw out Alcaraz.
[18:01] Speaker 1: So, unfortunately. I just said throw out Alcaraz. Oh, you did.
[18:04] Speaker 3: You said center and Alcaraz.
[18:05] Speaker 1: I said no center, no Alcaraz. Oh, all right, guy.
[18:08] Speaker 1: Can't use those names.
[18:09] Speaker 3: Just want to make sure you're on top of it.
[18:11] Speaker 1: I'll give you mine. Mine is Arthur Feese. Like, I
[18:14] Speaker 1: am so pumped for Arthur Feese. Assuming he's healthy. French. Like,
[18:18] Speaker 1: the French crowds are unreal. I want him to make
[18:20] Speaker 1: a run so badly so we can experience the feast
[18:24] Speaker 1: mania around Paris.
[18:25] Speaker 2: And he's so cool, dude.
[18:27] Speaker 1: I want him on the desk so badly.
[18:29] Speaker 2: He's the best.
[18:29] Speaker 1: He's good.
[18:30] Speaker 2: The match that he got hurt in was unbelievable. Like
[18:35] Speaker 2: he played that fifth set with the back injury. And
[18:39] Speaker 2: now the level that he's playing at, the strength of
[18:42] Speaker 2: that forehand, definitely want to see him. I'm a huge
[18:44] Speaker 2: Hodar guy. I want to see how long this can continue.
[18:48] Speaker 2: Hodar does the shot. I would ask Sam about these
[18:51] Speaker 2: in the green room. I'd be like, You guys get
[18:53] Speaker 2: into these rallies and you're rallying and you're rallying. Why
[18:56] Speaker 2: doesn't anyone just go opposite? Like just hit it. Hodar
[18:59] Speaker 2: does that all the time and his accuracy is crazy.
[19:03] Speaker 2: I know it's early. We'll see. Sam can attest I
[19:06] Speaker 2: was a big Mboko guy last year.
[19:08] Speaker 5: Big Mboko guy. Did she lose first round? No, she
[19:14] Speaker 5: got I think to the third round last year. I
[19:18] Speaker 5: think she ended up facing like Sabalenka and it was.
[19:20] Speaker 1: Like, she's playing well right now though. This could be
[19:22] Speaker 1: the year.
[19:23] Speaker 2: Oh, so I was all over her when she was
[19:25] Speaker 2: ranked in like the three hundreds. Cause every time I
[19:28] Speaker 2: would go to the tennis app, she was playing. And
[19:30] Speaker 2: I was like, I don't, I think she's played 16
[19:32] Speaker 2: matches before we even got to Roland Garros last year. And,
[19:36] Speaker 2: but the big storyline is there's a spot that's open
[19:41] Speaker 2: for someone to make a final that hasn't made a
[19:43] Speaker 2: final before. And, Sam and them would tell me last
[19:48] Speaker 2: year that you're kind of– he remembered the big three–
[19:52] Speaker 2: If Novak fell early or Rafa fell early, there was
[19:56] Speaker 2: this energy that would go through the ATP. Or if
[20:00] Speaker 2: Serena were to somehow fall, that, oh man, there's a
[20:04] Speaker 2: chance money-wise and title-wise to make a run. The biggest
[20:08] Speaker 2: storyline is Novak, in my opinion. That he normally has
[20:13] Speaker 2: to go through both of them, and now he only
[20:16] Speaker 2: has to go through Sinner, who he just beat at
[20:19] Speaker 2: the Australian Oak. And if Novak can get 25, that
[20:23] Speaker 2: to me is the biggest storyline. He's been resting. So
[20:26] Speaker 2: for me, it is Novak and the fact he only
[20:30] Speaker 2: has to go through one this time.
[20:32] Speaker 3: You think Novak getting 25 or Sinner completing the career
[20:35] Speaker 3: grand slam is a bigger storyline? Just at the French.
[20:38] Speaker 3: Like if somebody can get it done, which one do
[20:40] Speaker 3: you think is the bigger story?
[20:41] Speaker 2: I think because of timing, I think it's Novak. because
[20:45] Speaker 2: Sinner is still at that era of he'll get it eventually,
[20:49] Speaker 2: which is what we do to young players. And it's like,
[20:51] Speaker 2: not fair. I was looking at, at where Sinner is
[20:55] Speaker 2: right now and Alcaraz and like where the big three would,
[21:00] Speaker 2: would stand. And so I looked at like at their
[21:03] Speaker 2: 24 year old rolling Garros, where were they? And so
[21:07] Speaker 2: right now Sinner enters with four slams. If he were
[21:11] Speaker 2: to win and he's the big favorite, he would have five. Federer,
[21:15] Speaker 2: at this point, had seven. Nadal won his seventh at
[21:19] Speaker 2: Roland Garros. And then Novak only had two, which is
[21:25] Speaker 2: really wild when you realize Novak has won so much
[21:28] Speaker 2: later in his career, and Carlos is at seven. So, Carlos, Federer,
[21:33] Speaker 2: and Nadal, and Carlos is only 22, which is when
[21:37] Speaker 2: you realize Senor's like two years older than him, it's
[21:41] Speaker 2: pretty remarkable. But No, Sinner's on an incredible pace. I
[21:45] Speaker 2: know it's not fair to compare him to the big three,
[21:47] Speaker 2: but that's the kind of level of dominance he has.
[21:49] Speaker 1: When we're on the desk, like the morning show specifically,
[21:53] Speaker 1: you're writing these really lovely intros. As the air breathes
[21:58] Speaker 1: over the Seine and the sun pops through the Eiffel Tower.
[22:02] Speaker 2: If you're going to call him out for Caroline, then
[22:04] Speaker 2: I'm going to call you out for the Seine, not
[22:06] Speaker 2: the Seine.
[22:07] Speaker 1: Seine, whatever. It doesn't get anything right. It's fine. Are
[22:11] Speaker 1: you writing those at night? Like for tomorrow's intro, this
[22:15] Speaker 1: is how I'm going to phrase the opening and we'll
[22:19] Speaker 1: get the sky view over Paris. Is that just off
[22:22] Speaker 1: the cuff? Basically, that's what I'm going with?
[22:24] Speaker 2: So normally it is, but I was so nervous for
[22:28] Speaker 2: Roland Garros that I was writing them down. And I
[22:31] Speaker 2: remember you and Isner did an early show and I
[22:34] Speaker 2: did one and you were both like, I'm pumped up
[22:37] Speaker 2: right now. I think it's the one thing that hosts
[22:42] Speaker 2: are really responsible for. It's sort of a repetitive equation.
[22:47] Speaker 2: We're going to show... something in Paris. It might be
[22:50] Speaker 2: the Louvre. It might be the Seine. It might be
[22:52] Speaker 2: the Arc de Triomphe. Then we're going to show the
[22:55] Speaker 2: stadium from overhead. Then we're going to show people walking.
[22:58] Speaker 2: And then the gym is going to come in. I
[23:01] Speaker 2: believe it is a host job to make that feel big.
[23:06] Speaker 2: That if you're sitting on your couch, especially for a
[23:09] Speaker 2: morning show where it's 5 a.m. Eastern time, that if
[23:14] Speaker 2: you're sitting in, that I can get you to take
[23:16] Speaker 2: that remote and put it down and go, oh man,
[23:20] Speaker 2: I'm excited. That's my whole goal there. And so I
[23:25] Speaker 2: get out to set earlier than you guys and I'll
[23:28] Speaker 2: have whoever's directing, can I see the shots? And then
[23:32] Speaker 2: once I know, okay, we're doing this, this, this, and this,
[23:36] Speaker 2: what's the most beautiful thing I can write for each
[23:38] Speaker 2: thing that sets the scene for today? If I know
[23:43] Speaker 2: that it's Sinner Alcaraz Championship, then I'm talking about a
[23:47] Speaker 2: buzz that's in the street that's undeniable. Even the calm
[23:51] Speaker 2: waters of the Seine are feeling jostled up.
[23:55] Speaker 1: I want to write one this year. I want one
[23:57] Speaker 1: opening this year in the morning.
[24:00] Speaker 2: You did one last year.
[24:01] Speaker 1: No, you offered me to do one and I got scared.
[24:04] Speaker 3: Do you already have some written down or no? No,
[24:07] Speaker 3: but I want to write one. Or do you only
[24:09] Speaker 3: do it in the morning of?
[24:11] Speaker 1: One– yeah, Sam, have you written anything? You're asking me that.
[24:15] Speaker 3: No, dude. I'm not asking you that.
[24:17] Speaker 2: Steve, what I will do is– I haven't told this
[24:24] Speaker 2: to anybody. I did make a list last year of
[24:27] Speaker 2: different ways to call Paris beautiful or things to say
[24:32] Speaker 2: if there's a rain delay. Because I had spoke to
[24:35] Speaker 2: Noah Eagle, who was doing it for NBC, and he
[24:37] Speaker 2: was like, yeah, there's a lot of rain delays. And
[24:40] Speaker 2: I would always be amazed at these writers and these
[24:43] Speaker 2: hosts saying, That would be like, we had plans today,
[24:46] Speaker 2: but Paris moves at a different tempo. Like something like that.
[24:50] Speaker 2: And I was like, I need to come up with
[24:52] Speaker 2: those ahead of time. So I came up with like five.
[24:55] Speaker 2: And so I had the list and I'll just add
[24:57] Speaker 2: to those. It's a mix. Like starting a show, I'm
[25:01] Speaker 2: going to write it out. But coming back from break
[25:04] Speaker 2: or going to break, I like the challenge of improvising live.
[25:08] Speaker 2: And can I come up with something that's good? And
[25:11] Speaker 2: then afterwards, Sam will give me a fist bump and I'll.
[25:13] Speaker 1: Be like, nailed it. I love the fist bump.
[25:15] Speaker 2: I will say, and I'm curious what you guys think,
[25:18] Speaker 2: the only part of Sinner's game that is up for
[25:23] Speaker 2: debate right now is the longevity of a match, is
[25:27] Speaker 2: if something goes five sets. And in anticipation of this,
[25:31] Speaker 2: because I love you guys, I started thinking about what
[25:34] Speaker 2: have been the close calls since rolling Garros last year
[25:37] Speaker 2: for Sinner. The obvious one to me is Dimitrov. at
[25:42] Speaker 2: Wimbledon when he was down two sets and then Dimitrov
[25:45] Speaker 2: had to retire for like the fifth straight time and
[25:47] Speaker 2: he was healthy. And that's the only way that you're
[25:51] Speaker 2: really picking against Sinner is, wow, he's really pushed himself
[25:55] Speaker 2: in all these Masters 1000s. And if he ends up
[25:58] Speaker 2: playing Rome and going all the way through, man, maybe
[26:02] Speaker 2: there is an elbow that flares up or a wrist
[26:05] Speaker 2: that flares up. And Grigor was the example. The other
[26:08] Speaker 2: one was our guy Spizz. Spazieri at Australian Open.
[26:12] Speaker 1: I love the Spizzler.
[26:14] Speaker 2: Where the Spizzler takes the first set, battles in the second,
[26:19] Speaker 2: and Yannick is cramping the entire time, and then they–
[26:23] Speaker 2: I'm still mad about it. They go with like, we
[26:26] Speaker 2: got to close the roof and take like a 20-minute break.
[26:29] Speaker 1: It was just a coincidence.
[26:32] Speaker 2: That really upset me, man.
[26:33] Speaker 1: It's eroding.
[26:34] Speaker 2: Because I'm rooting for the Spizzler.
[26:36] Speaker 6: Same. Same.
[26:37] Speaker 3: It should have been done after the set, not in
[26:39] Speaker 3: the middle.
[26:40] Speaker 2: But here's my question to you guys. In his career
[26:43] Speaker 2: at slams, center in five set matches is four and ten.
[26:48] Speaker 2: And all four are on hard courts. And I'm not
[26:52] Speaker 2: saying this like Yannick has a weakness. He's one of
[26:54] Speaker 2: the most impressive athletes I've ever seen. But I do
[26:58] Speaker 2: think it's interesting that He's 0-3 against Alcarez in five centers,
[27:04] Speaker 2: 0-2 against Jokic, 1-1 against Medvedev.
[27:07] Speaker 1: Who's Jokic?
[27:08] Speaker 2: Sorry, Djokovic.
[27:09] Speaker 1: The NBA player?
[27:10] Speaker 6: Damn.
[27:10] Speaker 2: Now we've each got one.
[27:11] Speaker 1: We've each got one.
[27:12] Speaker 2: They're both Serbian.
[27:13] Speaker 1: They're all Serbian.
[27:16] Speaker 2: The question for you guys is who could take him
[27:19] Speaker 2: the distance? Who can somehow make it go over four hours?
[27:23] Speaker 2: And I don't know who that is.
[27:25] Speaker 3: The only person would be Novak. That's it right now.
[27:28] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[27:28] Speaker 3: I mean, that's proven that he could do it.
[27:31] Speaker 1: Maybe Medvedev.
[27:33] Speaker 3: Not on clay.
[27:34] Speaker 2: Someone with just incredible defense that can just make that
[27:38] Speaker 2: match go. But no, I think the only way it's
[27:41] Speaker 2: not center right now is if he gets banged up
[27:43] Speaker 2: or is tired from this incredible Masters 1000 run.
[27:47] Speaker 3: With you guys going over to Paris, going over to
[27:49] Speaker 3: Roland Garros, we have a sponsor that means we will
[27:51] Speaker 3: have to keep up with tennis no matter their location,
[27:54] Speaker 3: especially with Roland Garros just around the corner.

[27:59] Speaker 1: I've got it when I'm in Paris. Letgo's probably got it.

[29:01] Speaker 1: want to know next up here. We either want to
[29:03] Speaker 1: do travel pet peeves, we have life advice, or if
[29:07] Speaker 1: you have questions, you can ask.
[29:09] Speaker 2: I have a lot of questions.
[29:11] Speaker 1: Hit us with a couple of questions and then we'll
[29:13] Speaker 1: go travel pet peeves.
[29:14] Speaker 2: Okay. So this is my job because I believe that
[29:18] Speaker 2: your listeners love you guys. And so I just want
[29:21] Speaker 2: to tap into you.
[29:22] Speaker 1: Our millions of listeners are just loyal fans.
[29:26] Speaker 2: Some are saying billions. In the green room last year, Stevie,
[29:30] Speaker 2: one of the games that Sam kind of took control
[29:33] Speaker 2: over that was the game they love to play was
[29:36] Speaker 2: name a random tennis player. And then what was the
[29:39] Speaker 2: highest ranked? he ever had in his career? And so
[29:42] Speaker 2: you're sitting there and they're, they're naming Yannick Noah, Oh,
[29:46] Speaker 2: 22 Oh six, you know, it was, it was fun.
[29:48] Speaker 1: And we're playing with that. It's like McEnroe, Agassi, Henman,
[29:51] Speaker 1: like everyone is playing. All right. Yeah. Caroline.
[29:55] Speaker 2: In your time as a tennis player. Now, what was
[29:58] Speaker 2: your highest ranking? What would have been your highest ranking
[30:02] Speaker 2: in the hottie bracket at the peak of your powers?
[30:06] Speaker 4: Ooh.
[30:07] Speaker 1: Stevie?
[30:08] Speaker 3: I think the years 20, like 16 to 19, I
[30:12] Speaker 3: would have snuck in maybe at like 15 seat. I
[30:14] Speaker 3: was good looking. Outside of that, I was a little chubby.
[30:16] Speaker 3: So I would have dropped out. I had a couple
[30:18] Speaker 3: of good years though. I had a couple of good years.
[30:21] Speaker 3: Like the mustache was good. Everything was good. You know,
[30:24] Speaker 3: I think I would have snuck in.
[30:25] Speaker 1: I think a lot of women like the mustache. They
[30:28] Speaker 1: won't admit it, but that mustache would have snuck you
[30:30] Speaker 1: in the draw. That's a great question. I feel like
[30:34] Speaker 1: I was probably at my hottest in like 2013. Same
[30:37] Speaker 1: with Stevie, though, like low seed. Like 13 or 16 seed. Yeah,
[30:45] Speaker 1: I'm definitely losing first round to like Burditch.
[30:47] Speaker 2: Who was a top five hottie guy in your era
[30:51] Speaker 2: that would actually made you upset how much everyone thought
[30:55] Speaker 2: they were attractive? You could admit it now.
[30:57] Speaker 1: I feel like Songa had some pretty good charm and charisma. Oh,
[31:00] Speaker 1: Songa was super smooth. Yeah.
[31:02] Speaker 3: Burdich, like, was– I mean, he was– he's big. He's strong.
[31:05] Speaker 3: He's got these, like, blue eyes. He was beautiful.
[31:07] Speaker 1: Okay. Didn't he?
[31:08] Speaker 3: Seemed like it.
[31:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
[31:09] Speaker 3: I was, like, mesmerized by how big his legs were.
[31:11] Speaker 3: It's annoying. They're huge.
[31:14] Speaker 1: Gosh, I'm trying to– I can't think of any others
[31:16] Speaker 1: off the top of my head, but– Okay.
[31:19] Speaker 2: Dumb question. If two players are walking to the net,
[31:23] Speaker 2: at the same time to either go to their bench
[31:26] Speaker 2: or get ready for a changeover. How do they know
[31:29] Speaker 2: who walks first if you're going at the exact same pace?
[31:33] Speaker 2: So one is not ahead, same pace. How does that happen?
[31:37] Speaker 3: It depends. I would say, I would say I, if
[31:40] Speaker 3: I wanted to assert my dominance, I would go first.
[31:42] Speaker 3: And if I didn't like them, I would go first.
[31:44] Speaker 3: But if it was like, you know, Sam or somebody
[31:46] Speaker 3: I liked, like, you know, whatever, you know, It's kind
[31:48] Speaker 3: of a nothing, but it's not often that people happen.
[31:50] Speaker 2: No, no, you go. No, no, you go. Like that
[31:53] Speaker 2: never happens.
[31:54] Speaker 1: Yeah. I think some players are stubborn and they like
[31:56] Speaker 1: always let the other person go. And they're just like,
[31:58] Speaker 1: I want to see two just like, no, you go first.
[32:00] Speaker 1: You go first and have them just stand there.
[32:02] Speaker 2: I would, I just, I would love a young, like
[32:04] Speaker 2: Lerner Tien to like bump into Djokovic or something like that.
[32:07] Speaker 2: He's so good.
[32:08] Speaker 1: That's a tough one to answer.
[32:09] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[32:09] Speaker 1: I don't, I actually know.
[32:10] Speaker 2: All right. So Sinner versus Salcares, who wins in the following?
[32:16] Speaker 2: Number one, A basketball free throw contest, Sinner versus Alcaraz.
[32:21] Speaker 1: Alcaraz. Sinner. I've never seen either of them shoot a basketball.
[32:26] Speaker 2: Shoot a basketball. Yeah, I have no idea.
[32:28] Speaker 3: I've seen Sinner swing a golf club and it doesn't
[32:31] Speaker 3: give me promise.
[32:32] Speaker 1: Okay. I don't know why. I just feel like- What
[32:35] Speaker 1: about a.
[32:35] Speaker 2: Wing eating contest, Sinner versus Alcaraz?
[32:38] Speaker 3: I feel like I got to go with Carlos. I
[32:40] Speaker 3: feel like wings are beneath Sinner. Like, you know, as
[32:43] Speaker 3: an Italian.
[32:43] Speaker 1: Sinner's way too classy to even.
[32:45] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[32:45] Speaker 1: Sinner's too classy to even enter that competition.
[32:47] Speaker 3: He doesn't know what a chicken wing is. I could actually,
[32:50] Speaker 3: I would bet my money that he doesn't know what
[32:52] Speaker 3: a chicken wing is.
[32:52] Speaker 1: Yeah. He's not going to get wing sauce on that
[32:54] Speaker 1: Gucci bag.
[32:55] Speaker 2: A rap freestyle battle. Who would win? Sinner or Alcaraz?
[33:00] Speaker 1: Carlos. Yeah, Carlos.
[33:02] Speaker 3: I think he's just got more, more pizzazz.
[33:05] Speaker 1: Carlos. It's like his game. Like Carlos is more creative
[33:07] Speaker 1: with his game. Like rap freestyle is all about being creative.
[33:11] Speaker 2: And let me go more rigid. Spelling Bee, Sinner or Alcaraz?
[33:15] Speaker 1: Sinner. Sinner, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
[33:20] Speaker 2: Thumb War, Alcaraz or Sinner?
[33:24] Speaker 3: I'm going to go with Sinner now. Alcaraz's wrist hurts.
[33:27] Speaker 1: I'm going Carlos. Carlos is always hanging with the boys.
[33:30] Speaker 1: I feel like he might play Thumb War a little
[33:32] Speaker 1: bit with them. You know? I can see that. I
[33:36] Speaker 1: can see him and his brother on the plane from
[33:38] Speaker 1: like Indian Wells to Miami just like battling thumb war
[33:41] Speaker 1: for like 90 minutes.
[33:42] Speaker 2: And then the last one is a staring contest. If
[33:45] Speaker 2: Sinner faced Alcaraz in a staring contest.
[33:48] Speaker 1: Sinner. Sinner. That's just a no-brainer.
[33:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's like a heavy favorite.
[33:52] Speaker 2: I think Carlos would smile very quickly.
[33:54] Speaker 1: Under a second. Under a second.
[33:57] Speaker 2: Okay, good. I'm glad we figured those out.
[33:59] Speaker 1: That's good. Excellent questions.
[34:01] Speaker 2: A few more. You're in a match. and you look
[34:04] Speaker 2: up to your box, what was the worst support you've
[34:08] Speaker 2: ever received in that look up to the box?
[34:11] Speaker 1: I've told this story. Like at my last Wimbledon, I
[34:14] Speaker 1: was in a bad mood. I was cranky. I was
[34:16] Speaker 1: sitting on the sideline of the chair and directly across
[34:19] Speaker 1: from me, my wife was over there and she gave
[34:22] Speaker 1: me the finger and I just looked at her and
[34:23] Speaker 1: gave her the finger. And then I went on to
[34:26] Speaker 1: lose and that was my last. No way.
[34:28] Speaker 3: How do I not know that story?
[34:30] Speaker 1: I lost to Baracus. It was 2022 Wimbledon. No way.
[34:35] Speaker 2: Why did she give you the finger?
[34:37] Speaker 1: I was pouting. I was in a bad mood and complaining.
[34:39] Speaker 1: She just like, And I just looked right back at
[34:42] Speaker 1: her and did it. I don't know. Court died.
[34:43] Speaker 2: No way. Who's someone's box that you were jealous of
[34:48] Speaker 2: during your playing career? Like seeing the energy. Like have
[34:51] Speaker 2: you ever like seen a box like pumping them up
[34:53] Speaker 2: and you're like, can I get some of that?
[34:55] Speaker 1: Like Roger back in the day because he'd have like
[34:57] Speaker 1: the cool celeb in there.
[34:58] Speaker 3: Yeah. They would always be fired up.
[35:01] Speaker 1: You'd always have that like classy celeb. You'd have like
[35:03] Speaker 1: Tiger Woods or– Some footballer.
[35:07] Speaker 3: I feel like a lot, you play like some of
[35:08] Speaker 3: the South American guys, their boxes were rowdy because there's
[35:12] Speaker 3: always an odd number. There's like eight of them in there.
[35:14] Speaker 3: Like it doesn't make sense. Like we've talked about it
[35:16] Speaker 3: a lot. Like you play like the 80th ranked guy
[35:19] Speaker 3: from like Argentina. He's got so many guys in his
[35:21] Speaker 3: box and they are so fired up.
[35:23] Speaker 2: I got one last question here. Would you rather a
[35:26] Speaker 2: tennis question or a brand partnership question?
[35:29] Speaker 1: Brand partnership.
[35:30] Speaker 2: Okay. Coming to tennis, I was amazed at the brand
[35:33] Speaker 2: partnerships about how every time an athlete would come to
[35:37] Speaker 2: our desk, they'd have to like put on the watch
[35:39] Speaker 2: and then, and which is like fascinating. And then I
[35:41] Speaker 2: found out like Sloan was telling me she gets like
[35:44] Speaker 2: watch allowances. And I'm like, this is incredible coming from
[35:47] Speaker 2: the NBA where it's like, Hey, here's a Verizon. I'm like, okay,
[35:52] Speaker 2: who now we have watches and we have cars and
[35:55] Speaker 2: we have yachts. Was there a tennis players brand deal
[36:00] Speaker 2: that people coveted the most in your time it.
[36:03] Speaker 1: Was it net jets from roger back in the day.
[36:05] Speaker 3: Yeah it was like net jets yeah i'll never forget
[36:09] Speaker 3: that great commercial with him like pulling all his trophies
[36:11] Speaker 3: to the to the plane and stuff yeah it's net
[36:14] Speaker 3: jets just flying everywhere private it's just got to be
[36:17] Speaker 3: nice yeah i feel like.
[36:18] Speaker 2: Roger two is one of the airways.
[36:20] Speaker 3: Yeah well he had his face on a plane if
[36:22] Speaker 3: i'm not mistaken.
[36:23] Speaker 1: Katie we did a segment a couple weeks ago on
[36:25] Speaker 1: like best sponsorships in tennis And like is essentially everything
[36:30] Speaker 1: Federer had was like the coolest. I would have thought
[36:32] Speaker 1: it would be cool, though. This is still my dream
[36:34] Speaker 1: sponsorship for someone to have a sponsorship from like Costco.
[36:37] Speaker 3: Dude, you've been barking up this tree. He's a big
[36:38] Speaker 3: warehouse guy, Adam. Big warehouse guy.
[36:41] Speaker 2: Why? What about you just love Costco?
[36:44] Speaker 1: I love Costco, but I also love like warehouses, how
[36:46] Speaker 1: they're I want to go to an Amazon warehouse and
[36:48] Speaker 1: see how it works, you know? Like when you go
[36:50] Speaker 1: buy a hat for your dog, is it a robot
[36:54] Speaker 1: in the Amazon warehouse that gets it and brings it
[36:56] Speaker 1: down and packages it? Or is it someone in there
[36:58] Speaker 1: doing it? How does it work?
[36:59] Speaker 2: Do you love warehouses or do you like robots?
[37:02] Speaker 1: Warehouses.
[37:04] Speaker 2: What other warehouses do you love?
[37:06] Speaker 1: I like robots too. As soon as I can buy
[37:09] Speaker 1: an Oculus from a Tesla, I'm the first one on
[37:12] Speaker 1: the table to buy an Oculus. Is that what it's called?
[37:16] Speaker 2: Samquery.
[37:18] Speaker 3: I love Samquery.
[37:19] Speaker 1: No, not yet. Not the good one. I want the
[37:21] Speaker 1: one that's going to do dishes and lawn work and stuff.
[37:23] Speaker 2: So that's your dream. Steve, what's your dream partnership?
[37:26] Speaker 3: I mean, it would have been just cool to have
[37:28] Speaker 3: the Rolex, any of those. Because then I feel like
[37:33] Speaker 3: you've made it. Everybody who has that, you're like, they're
[37:35] Speaker 3: a star. They are just a star.
[37:38] Speaker 2: I got mine during March Madness.
[37:40] Speaker 6: What?
[37:41] Speaker 1: Who?
[37:42] Speaker 2: I did a little brand deal. I'm hoping it turns
[37:45] Speaker 2: into more. It was the one that I've wanted since
[37:48] Speaker 2: I was a child. It was Pizza Hut.
[37:51] Speaker 1: That's unreal. Was it a commercial?
[37:55] Speaker 6: I did.
[37:56] Speaker 2: I did a little. It was like aired during one
[38:00] Speaker 2: of our shows. And it was me with Huddy, the
[38:03] Speaker 2: Pizza Hut mascot. And I threw an overhead. I'll send
[38:07] Speaker 2: it to you guys. I threw an overhead alley-oop. And
[38:09] Speaker 2: he dunked it. And then he jumped on me. But
[38:12] Speaker 2: I'm sitting there being like, college basketball and pizza at pizza.
[38:17] Speaker 1: Oh, that's unreal. That's great.
[38:20] Speaker 2: Dude, I used to go to pizza at lunch buffet
[38:23] Speaker 2: when I was in college. And it was just the
[38:25] Speaker 2: greatest thing ever. So everyone's got one deal.
[38:30] Speaker 1: Blue collar, guys.
[38:31] Speaker 2: Blue collar.
[38:32] Speaker 1: Yeah. Aura frames. It's a solid upgrade from the usual
[38:35] Speaker 1: Mother's Day flowers. I love my mom. Everyone loves their mom.
[38:39] Speaker 1: Everyone's got thousands and thousands of photos in their phone.
[38:42] Speaker 1: What do you do with them? You get your mom
[38:43] Speaker 1: an aura frame for Mother's Day. You can upload the
[38:46] Speaker 1: photos in there. You can put it in the kitchen,
[38:49] Speaker 1: in the bedroom, in the family room, and it constantly
[38:52] Speaker 1: slides through the photos and the videos of your family
[38:54] Speaker 1: so your mom can always check in, see what you're doing.
[38:57] Speaker 1: Get your mom something she likes, right? Don't get her
[38:59] Speaker 1: something that's just going to sit on the counter for
[39:00] Speaker 1: a few days and then rot away. Get her some
[39:03] Speaker 1: aura frames. These things last forever, and they're fun. She
[39:06] Speaker 1: can check in on the family. They are amazing. Free
[39:09] Speaker 1: unlimited storage, free unlimited storage. You can just load these
[39:11] Speaker 1: things up with pictures and videos. It's amazing. Preload photos
[39:15] Speaker 1: before it ships, right? So once it gets to your mom,
[39:18] Speaker 1: you can have the photos and the videos ready to go.
[39:20] Speaker 1: So when she opens it, it's not a blank frame.
[39:22] Speaker 1: It's got all the fun stuff in it. It's the
[39:24] Speaker 1: top rated app. And in fact, it reached number one

[39:58] Speaker 1: thinking off your head. We did European pet peeves. We've
[40:01] Speaker 1: done that a few times. Very popular. I want to
[40:05] Speaker 1: do travel pet peeves. Love it. I'll go first.
[40:08] Speaker 6: Stevie, do you have some?
[40:09] Speaker 1: We've got a couple. My first travel pet peeve is
[40:11] Speaker 1: when you are At the airport and you're boarding the
[40:14] Speaker 1: plane and those pesky people from group six and seven
[40:17] Speaker 1: are in the way when you're trying to board with
[40:20] Speaker 1: the group one people. You're just like, dude, get out
[40:23] Speaker 1: of the way. You know you're group seven. Step aside.
[40:26] Speaker 1: I cannot stand that.
[40:29] Speaker 2: I'm going to add to yours. This is not my
[40:31] Speaker 2: official and I'm adding to yours. The abuse of pre-boarding
[40:35] Speaker 2: has gotten too far.
[40:37] Speaker 1: Out of control.
[40:38] Speaker 2: If you have children, I allow it at all times.
[40:43] Speaker 2: But the boomers that have now decided, I need extra
[40:47] Speaker 2: time to board, this is ridiculous. And I agree with you.
[40:51] Speaker 1: Yeah. No, agreed.
[40:52] Speaker 3: Can I add to something that, I mean, we all
[40:53] Speaker 3: have kids here. Why can they not save space on
[40:57] Speaker 3: the plane for families, but have them board last? Nobody
[40:59] Speaker 3: wants to get on the planes with their kids and
[41:01] Speaker 3: sit an extra hour. Like, why can't they just do that?
[41:04] Speaker 1: I don't like that one. You can't just like save
[41:06] Speaker 1: space for like the family section. It's not Chuck E.
[41:08] Speaker 6: Cheese.
[41:10] Speaker 3: Save one spot for like their roll on or whatever.
[41:12] Speaker 3: But like, nobody wants to sit on there with kids
[41:14] Speaker 3: an extra hour while people are boarding.
[41:16] Speaker 2: Here's the strategy that I'm planning for Paris with wife
[41:20] Speaker 2: and baby is I am going to take every single
[41:24] Speaker 2: bag and the stroller and everything and board first. And
[41:29] Speaker 2: she's going to stay outside with the child and board
[41:32] Speaker 2: right before the door closes so that everything's put away.
[41:35] Speaker 2: That's the attack.
[41:36] Speaker 1: That, that, Love that.
[41:38] Speaker 3: We're getting somewhere. My pet peeve is really just sandals
[41:41] Speaker 3: on men or shorts.
[41:45] Speaker 1: It's bad.
[41:45] Speaker 3: It's awful.
[41:46] Speaker 1: Sandals for sure. Shorts?
[41:48] Speaker 2: Sandals on a plane? Like we're at 30,000 feet in
[41:51] Speaker 2: a tin can and you're flicking your toes?
[41:56] Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't mind shorts on a flight that's two
[41:59] Speaker 1: hours or less. Vegas to LA, you can wear shorts.
[42:02] Speaker 2: My pet peeve, since we're doing airplanes right now, and
[42:05] Speaker 2: this is, I fly like once or twice a week
[42:07] Speaker 2: from like New York to Atlanta. So I see all
[42:10] Speaker 2: of human kind. I believe that there should be a
[42:15] Speaker 2: queue for the bathroom on the flight. I don't like
[42:20] Speaker 2: when one person goes and then everyone starts getting stressed
[42:23] Speaker 2: out and then a line forms. I believe on your
[42:27] Speaker 2: Delta app, your United app, you should say, I want
[42:30] Speaker 2: to go to the bathroom. And then on the app,
[42:32] Speaker 2: it goes your second in line. And then you can
[42:35] Speaker 2: stand up instead of creating a pee and poop line
[42:39] Speaker 2: down the aisle of people fight. And then I'm sitting
[42:42] Speaker 2: in there. People are boxing them out. No, there needs to,
[42:45] Speaker 2: can we get some order when it comes to the bathroom?
[42:47] Speaker 1: Wow. Have you guys ever gone poop on a plane?
[42:51] Speaker 3: Sometimes you don't have an option, but it's.
[42:57] Speaker 1: Not my first preference.
[42:59] Speaker 2: Do you have? Dude, if it's- So you say, you're
[43:02] Speaker 2: saying you've never done it.
[43:03] Speaker 1: One time from back, I'm like coming back from Europe,
[43:06] Speaker 1: like 2009, one time I've done it.
[43:09] Speaker 2: So Steve, this is as a host, this is when
[43:12] Speaker 2: I'm going to give you some host tips, right? When
[43:14] Speaker 2: someone says that, then your follow-up is clearly you remember
[43:18] Speaker 2: it vividly. What happened in.
[43:21] Speaker 5: 2009 that gave you 17 years of PTSD?
[43:25] Speaker 1: Nothing happened. I just, it's like so disgusting.
[43:28] Speaker 3: And he looks like a tomato right now if you're
[43:29] Speaker 3: watching this.
[43:30] Speaker 2: I'm going to call out my brother right now. My
[43:34] Speaker 2: favorite pooping on a plane moment was family trip. We're
[43:39] Speaker 2: in our early teens. This is a very long time ago.
[43:41] Speaker 2: Statue of Limitations is up. And a very old woman
[43:45] Speaker 2: went to the bathroom. And as she was leaving, my
[43:48] Speaker 2: brother passed gas. And my brother has the worst diet
[43:51] Speaker 2: of any human I've ever met in my entire life.
[43:54] Speaker 2: He'll have like a bean burrito. and a vanilla chai latte,
[43:58] Speaker 2: and you're like, what is happening? And he passed gas,
[44:02] Speaker 2: and the entire plane thought it was the old woman.
[44:06] Speaker 2: And she walked out, and the entire time, people are like,
[44:09] Speaker 2: can you believe? And I'm sitting there, my brother is
[44:11] Speaker 2: just cackling.
[44:12] Speaker 1: It was.
[44:15] Speaker 2: Tough.
[44:15] Speaker 1: That's tough to listen to.
[44:17] Speaker 2: That's unbelievable.
[44:19] Speaker 1: I got one more. I don't think you should be
[44:21] Speaker 1: allowed to bring hot food on the plane. Speaking of
[44:23] Speaker 1: Pizza Hut. You board the plane with like a hot pizza.
[44:26] Speaker 1: It drives me nuts.
[44:27] Speaker 2: Disagree.
[44:28] Speaker 1: Disagree?
[44:29] Speaker 2: You're smelling it.
[44:29] Speaker 1: I don't want to have no food.
[44:31] Speaker 3: I think there's certain types of food you probably can't bring. Dude,
[44:33] Speaker 3: a pizza is fine.
[44:34] Speaker 1: A burger is fine. Nope.
[44:38] Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with Steve. I think if you're talking
[44:40] Speaker 2: plane food, then I agree.
[44:43] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[44:44] Speaker 6: Yeah.
[44:45] Speaker 1: I don't smell the plane food, but we can agree
[44:49] Speaker 1: to disagree.
[44:49] Speaker 2: We will. I was going to say like a Chipotle
[44:51] Speaker 2: burrito too much for you.
[44:54] Speaker 1: That one's kind of okay, but I don't love it. Oh,
[44:57] Speaker 1: you would hate it. All right. You each have one more? Yeah,
[45:01] Speaker 1: I got plenty.
[45:03] Speaker 2: Pet peeve, people that put bags above my seat, I
[45:10] Speaker 2: think is crazy. To me, especially when you're traveling with
[45:14] Speaker 2: a child, that all calls me to crash out. Yeah.
[45:23] Speaker 2: I would also say when they don't hand out headphones
[45:28] Speaker 2: in the beginning of a flight.
[45:30] Speaker 1: Business class problems.
[45:32] Speaker 2: Do they hand out? They should hand out. Yeah, but
[45:36] Speaker 2: I'm just saying like let's say it's a three-hour flight
[45:39] Speaker 2: and now 45 minutes that I could have watched a
[45:42] Speaker 2: movie is gone because you just didn't hand out the headphones.
[45:47] Speaker 2: New pet peeve on flights, they don't give out more
[45:49] Speaker 2: than one water bottle anymore. Now everything is in a
[45:52] Speaker 2: cup and I've spilled on two people because I want
[45:56] Speaker 2: the water bottle.
[45:57] Speaker 1: You just got to buy it at the airport and
[45:59] Speaker 1: bring it on with you. But like the water is
[46:01] Speaker 1: like $ 9 at the airport.
[46:03] Speaker 2: Sam, okay with bringing your own water but not okay
[46:06] Speaker 2: with bringing your own food.
[46:07] Speaker 6: Yes.
[46:08] Speaker 3: So you've never brought food for your boys on the plane?
[46:11] Speaker 1: Not hot food. Never.
[46:12] Speaker 3: You're a hypocrite and a liar.
[46:15] Speaker 1: I'll die on this. I never have. You bought like
[46:18] Speaker 1: Goldfish or something like that, right? Yeah, totally. So that's food.
[46:22] Speaker 1: I said hot food when I was giving my pet peeve.
[46:24] Speaker 1: You cannot bring hot food. Okay.
[46:26] Speaker 2: I don't like– let's say you're in row six and
[46:30] Speaker 2: everyone is getting out. I don't like when people in
[46:34] Speaker 2: row seven, eight, nine try to rush in front of
[46:37] Speaker 2: you when you're getting off the plane. I'm not– we
[46:40] Speaker 2: all know one of the ultimate travel pet peeves is
[46:43] Speaker 2: the plane lands and you stand up. And you know what?
[46:46] Speaker 2: The only time I believe that's acceptable is if your
[46:49] Speaker 2: bag is in a row that's behind where you're sitting.
[46:52] Speaker 2: So if you're in two and your bag is in three,
[46:56] Speaker 2: you can stand up, get your bag because it's going
[46:58] Speaker 2: to be a headache if you don't. I get that.
[47:00] Speaker 2: But the rushing forward is I've tripped somebody.
[47:06] Speaker 6: Yeah, no.
[47:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, I get my leg out there like, uh-uh. You're
[47:09] Speaker 1: not going in front of me.
[47:09] Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll box out.
[47:10] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
[47:11] Speaker 2: Sam, how often do you use your height as an
[47:14] Speaker 2: intimidation tactic on unruly plane passengers? How often do you
[47:18] Speaker 2: just stand up?
[47:19] Speaker 3: He's softer than Charmin, Adam.
[47:21] Speaker 1: Not often, but if I am in an aisle– oddly enough,
[47:23] Speaker 1: I'm a window guy if I have the option. Wow.
[47:26] Speaker 3: I'm a window guy myself.
[47:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Right when the ding sounds and the seatbelt
[47:31] Speaker 1: sign goes off, I stand up right away to take
[47:33] Speaker 1: up space in the aisle so no one is passing.
[47:38] Speaker 1: It's not an intimidation. It's just we're going to follow
[47:40] Speaker 1: the rules.
[47:41] Speaker 2: I'm an aisle guy because I believe in hydrating on planes.
[47:44] Speaker 2: And you've just unlocked my last one. I did not
[47:46] Speaker 2: plan to have this many. Clearly, I have a lot
[47:48] Speaker 2: of issues. If you're a window person, in my opinion,
[47:54] Speaker 2: you get one bathroom trip on a flight under four hours.
[47:57] Speaker 1: That's good. Yeah. Max, I'm okay with none.
[48:00] Speaker 2: Because if you go that often, if you're drinking that
[48:03] Speaker 2: much water, welcome. You're an aisle person. Because the getting
[48:09] Speaker 2: up and moving and all that, if you are a
[48:12] Speaker 2: frequent urinator, I need you in the aisle. That's a
[48:15] Speaker 2: pet peeve of mine.
[48:16] Speaker 1: That is good. That is a good one. We're going
[48:18] Speaker 1: to end on that.
[48:19] Speaker 2: Perfect.
[48:19] Speaker 1: Let's go. Thanks for joining us. That was fun. I'm
[48:23] Speaker 1: going to see you in three weeks on the desk
[48:25] Speaker 1: in Paris. You're slowly becoming one of America's favorite tennis hosts.
[48:30] Speaker 2: And we need to get Steve out there. I think
[48:32] Speaker 2: it's only right that the whole crew is there.
[48:34] Speaker 4: Agreed.
[48:36] Speaker 2: We need to figure this. I'm going to lean on them.
[48:38] Speaker 1: Let's just have them come out and just put a
[48:42] Speaker 1: chair between us, not tell anyone.
[48:45] Speaker 2: That's a good move.
[48:47] Speaker 3: That's a bold strategy.
[48:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see if it pays off. But hey, my
[48:51] Speaker 2: two favorite hosts of this pod, I'm so happy that
[48:54] Speaker 2: I got to spend time with you. You know what?
[48:56] Speaker 2: As Zverev said, He said there's a gap between Sinner
[49:01] Speaker 2: and then him, Carlos, Novak, and then everybody else. It's
[49:04] Speaker 2: Sam and Steve and then a huge gap and then
[49:08] Speaker 2: Tom and then a huge gap and then Isner.
[49:11] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[49:12] Speaker 3: That's fair.
[49:12] Speaker 1: No truer words have ever been spoken. So thank you
[49:16] Speaker 1: for mentioning that. And thank you again for joining us.
[49:18] Speaker 3: Can't wait to see you grace my TV. for 15
[49:20] Speaker 3: straight days at the French baby.
[49:23] Speaker 2: And every morning I'll say good morning Steve I'll.
[49:26] Speaker 3: Get up every morning on the west coast to watch
[49:28] Speaker 3: that if that's the.
[49:28] Speaker 1: Case 2am no you won't alright Adam thank you that
[49:33] Speaker 1: was awesome we're good we'll see you in three weeks
[49:38] Speaker 1: All right, that was fun. Lefkoe is always an incredible,
[49:42] Speaker 1: not only a host of the Desk of TNT, but
[49:45] Speaker 1: a fun, hey, we're going to have him back on
[49:48] Speaker 1: the pod again. So thanks again to Adam Lefkoe. But
[49:51] Speaker 1: that's it for the Friday show. Big thanks to Adam Lefkoe.
[49:54] Speaker 1: That was fun. And we'll be back on Monday with
[49:59] Speaker 1: an update on Rome. See you then. With the same.
[50:04] Speaker 6: Eyes for John The same for Sam Stevie J won
[50:10] Speaker 6: the bronze But none won a slam Nothing, nothing major Nothing,
[50:26] Speaker 6: nothing major Nothing, nothing major
