[0:07] Oh oh, hello, Hello, Hello, good morning, good evening,
[0:25] good afternoon. Wherever you are, let everything that have breadth praise the Lord.
[0:33] Praise ye the Lord. Let everything that hath breath do what sick.
[0:38] Praise ye the Lord. Nice to meet you. We are going to be
[0:44] looking at gospel music. We are based in the UK, but we will
[0:50] go around the globe and we will look at gospel music everywhere. We will
[0:55] look at the musicianship, some writing, and stage presence, some of the
[1:00] things that we don't often think about and sometimes we get scared about. But
[1:04] there's no reason to be frightened at all, because when you love the Lord,
[1:10] you just care keep your mouth closed, because not everything that hath bread
[1:19] we want to just praise the Lord. My name is Janie Weir Jamir.
[1:26] Most of you know me as Janis Weir. Some made me remember me from
[1:32] nineteen eighties. My very first song, actually when I was about nine years
[1:37] old, was under His Way we Are Safely Abide Him, not song like
[1:48] that, obviously I was much younger. My mom was playing the guitar.
[1:53] So hopefully one day in one of these shows, we'll do a down the
[1:57] Memory Lane and I'm actually going to do I've got some recordings of young Janis
[2:02] singing, and I'm going to do it with myself anyway. In the meantime,
[2:09] let's go back AnyWho. Right, So, nineteen eighties, many remember
[2:15] me singing let their bee praise, Yeah, let the bee joy see to
[2:25] the Lord giving the la Yes. And that was Sandy Patty. I used
[2:32] to sing all of her songs. And then moving on too the nineties,
[2:38] I started singing some of my own songs. I sang with Redemption and then
[2:46] we moved on to me having my own group called Redemption Gospel Ensemble. I
[2:52] also had a group called Testify. I've sang with the London Adventure Corral,
[3:00] I sang with the Holloway Gospel Choir, and now I sing with TFC,
[3:12] which is directed by Lassells Horton, and he is amazing, an amazing group
[3:19] of people that just love to sing and sing your heart out. And that's
[3:23] something that I've learned. You know, I've gone from being classically trained,
[3:28] yes, I was classically trained, and to now singing gospel. It's really
[3:34] interesting where you go from singing a song where you're holding and now but for
[3:42] as long as you can, to now making sure that when you sing like
[3:50] the Mississippi Mississippi Gospel Choir, you're just singing and ensure you. So text
[4:02] you anyway, I just made that that's not a song, so let that
[4:10] be said. I'll also be doing some voice training. I do it with
[4:14] people, but I realize I don't have the time to go to everybody one
[4:18] buy one, So I will be doing some voice training on here. So
[4:24] to start off, we're going to breathe in one, two, three,
[4:30] four five and hold it, hold it, hold it, hold it,
[4:33] then breathe out one two, three five. Now we're going to do the
[4:39] same thing, but we're going to breathe in, hold and then we're going
[4:42] to sing out a note. You can sing any note you want to,
[4:45] Okay, you don't have to sing as hire as me. So breathe in
[4:54] old old, Now sing lo. There we got. So every day you
[5:06] wake up, what I tend to do is I make sure I breathe in,
[5:10] breathe out, even lying down, because you find that there's less pressure
[5:14] on your spride and your diaphragm. And I'm lying on my side, I
[5:17] breathe in, breathe out. I kind of like curl up my knees behind
[5:26] me slightly. It's basically to give that kind of position that will allow me
[5:32] doesn't stress my body, just allows me to feel relaxed. And usually with
[5:38] my arms just behind my back and I can just relax. So breathe in,
[5:46] breathe out. Also in the morning, start not with a high note.
[5:51] People who sing really high train their voices really low, and then they
[5:57] build up towards it. So you don't just go straight into la la la
[6:01] la la la l. No, you start off really really low, you
[6:09] start warming up the voice, and then you build slowly. You build slowly,
[6:15] Okay, so you might start from it la la la la la,
[6:25] then in reverse. Oh no, that's a bit blue for me. But
[6:32] you get the gist. So it's really amazing spending a little bit of time
[6:38] with you. I'm going to make these snippets really short to the point so
[6:43] that you get the best out of the time with me. But as my
[6:48] song says, which you hear at the beginning and the end of my show,
[6:53] is you've got a give to the Lord. Oh you've got just gear,
[7:04] gear and so forth. But next time we meet we will be discussing
[7:17] more and going further into some of the things that as a singer as a
[7:24] musician you may have faced. No one has really discussed. But I'm going
[7:31] to be here and guess what. Nompuse your room, so peace out,
[7:42] I'll season. This is Janice Wesmir of the Gospel Music Workshop. Just let
[8:01] the save you and back yount want you saw and she back hiding your man.
[8:18] Don't you be run all the back? Don't you can be fl
