[0:00] Speaker 1: Silver surface.
[0:01] Speaker 2: Look at this Cooper, He's just spoon straight in there.
[0:08] Speaker 3: Hey, welcome back, man. Now, I'm pretty sure in our
[0:12] Speaker 3: old place, just around the corner, you come with a
[0:14] Speaker 3: few of the Souse boys once or twice.
[0:15] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So when I think said the address, I
[0:20] Speaker 1: realized you've gone a few streets over towards the beach.
[0:23] Speaker 3: We become that assholes around the corner.
[0:26] Speaker 4: That that Fox contract. Bro, he's got that. He's got
[0:29] Speaker 4: the upgrade now, so he moves closer to the water.
[0:31] Speaker 4: He will literally be in the ocean soon, like the
[0:34] Speaker 4: Lost City of Atlanta.
[0:35] Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, I'm not a breath and aster money,
[0:39] Speaker 3: but mate, I'm hohold my own for the good guys.
[0:42] Speaker 2: Yeah, what's up?
[0:43] Speaker 4: So what was that for South Sydney Back in the
[0:45] Speaker 4: Day's house.
[0:46] Speaker 1: I think it was a magic that he got all
[0:48] Speaker 1: the halves together. Yeah, we all drove over.
[0:51] Speaker 3: You and you and Luke Carey were the young guys.
[0:53] Speaker 3: First two sessions. Yeah, it was first two sessions. I
[0:57] Speaker 3: was calling Luke. John finally had the gas to say, Mate,
[1:00] Speaker 3: that's actually Luke. It's funny like yourself. Dela was saying
[1:04] Speaker 3: to Cooper when you first came over my first like
[1:09] Speaker 3: a view of you, how you played. You're like really quick, speed, footwork, power,
[1:15] Speaker 3: and you've still got that. But made. The great thing
[1:18] Speaker 3: these days makes your past selection is outstanding. Made, I reckon,
[1:22] Speaker 3: and we'll talk about paramount a second. I reckon made this.
[1:24] Speaker 3: So I've never seen you play better than you at
[1:26] Speaker 3: the moment. Cheers Mane.
[1:27] Speaker 1: I appreciate that. I think when you're young, when I
[1:29] Speaker 1: was coming through, because I played five eight or during
[1:33] Speaker 1: my junior years, and when you can first come to grade,
[1:37] Speaker 1: you don't really understand how the game works. It's a
[1:40] Speaker 1: different game. And I think when I first come through,
[1:43] Speaker 1: I was just that young athletic dude, not too much
[1:46] Speaker 1: of the knowledge where you're thinking that you know, and
[1:48] Speaker 1: then you know they just going over to you years
[1:51] Speaker 1: you sort of just pick everything up from different players coaches.
[1:55] Speaker 4: I was going to say, you've nearly played every position,
[1:58] Speaker 4: I reckon.
[1:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think the Warriors boys had a bit
[2:01] Speaker 1: of a running joke over there. I think I started
[2:04] Speaker 1: in the back round last year against and end up
[2:06] Speaker 1: getting spained. But that was the first I think that
[2:09] Speaker 1: was the last position position I had to take off
[2:12] Speaker 1: the list.
[2:13] Speaker 2: So you have you actually played every position?
[2:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, yeah, played full were are mainly when
[2:20] Speaker 1: Too went down in twenty twenty one and we started horrendous.
[2:24] Speaker 3: I think we had.
[2:25] Speaker 1: Forty put it on us by the roosters and was
[2:27] Speaker 1: consecutive weeks. And then when Tourbo was coming back, I
[2:30] Speaker 1: was supposed to shift back to the centers. And then
[2:33] Speaker 1: as journal asked me saying, oh has he gonna come as, oh, well,
[2:36] Speaker 1: he's not going to be an eighty point ten round player.
[2:38] Speaker 1: And then next week the boys won by thirty four. Yeah,
[2:44] Speaker 1: he's not back and it's winter. Yeah, it was a
[2:49] Speaker 1: bit of a laugh and joke.
[2:50] Speaker 4: You warned it up for him, though you warned that.
[2:54] Speaker 3: I sort of warmed it up. We'll talk about a
[2:56] Speaker 3: little bit later on his house man. You play good
[2:59] Speaker 3: players still, yeah, yeah, awesome, some of the best players
[3:02] Speaker 3: in the modern era. Quite incredible every position. God, that's unbelievable.
[3:08] Speaker 1: Utility plus Yeah, not very good in something, but had
[3:12] Speaker 1: a crack mate.
[3:13] Speaker 3: Now, Dylan, were you were your chess's wedding wedding Because
[3:19] Speaker 3: we keep honestly, it's not a week goes past and
[3:22] Speaker 3: I continue to get reports about my about dear son
[3:26] Speaker 3: he's empt duties. Were you in the firing line of all? No, no, no,
[3:29] Speaker 3: he left me alone.
[3:30] Speaker 2: I left left me me and walked some mutual respect.
[3:34] Speaker 3: But I was at the back of the table so you.
[3:35] Speaker 1: Couldn't see me. So put me in the bleachers.
[3:39] Speaker 3: That's where you know you stand in a relationship.
[3:41] Speaker 2: With the mate, where you are in the wedding.
[3:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but that that was a good job you did.
[3:45] Speaker 2: Bro, Thanks Dan. That was good.
[3:47] Speaker 4: It was not much not much backlash from it.
[3:51] Speaker 2: A little bit, a little bit of backlash.
[3:53] Speaker 3: I would say, You've got a little bit in the
[3:55] Speaker 3: gossip column, someone saying when they're talking about d C's
[3:58] Speaker 3: relationship with Sieves, they keep bringing it up he wasn't
[4:01] Speaker 3: invited to the wedding.
[4:02] Speaker 4: Part of the jo I kept referencing that, like when
[4:05] Speaker 4: the whole contract stuff was going on with chairs this year.
[4:08] Speaker 2: They just kept referencing it, like, you know.
[4:09] Speaker 4: It was like I was watching three sixty one time
[4:12] Speaker 4: when Bazz was going, you know, and obviously seems wasn't
[4:14] Speaker 4: at the wedding, and I was like, oh, I keep
[4:18] Speaker 4: I kept getting dragged into this year.
[4:23] Speaker 2: Look I was reading as well.
[4:24] Speaker 4: Earlier Tailor May lost his twenty twenty one premiership ring.
[4:31] Speaker 2: And it got me thinking, Walks.
[4:33] Speaker 4: I thought, who would be you know, silly enough to
[4:36] Speaker 4: lose their premiership ring? But of course you lost your
[4:40] Speaker 4: as well off.
[4:41] Speaker 2: The back of the boat. Yeah, the back of the boat.
[4:43] Speaker 2: It was.
[4:43] Speaker 3: It was a funny one that one. I remember. We
[4:46] Speaker 3: know this was happening. I was.
[4:47] Speaker 1: I told everyone was a chicken wing because I was.
[4:50] Speaker 1: I was young at the time.
[4:51] Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I was having a chicken.
[4:53] Speaker 1: Wing, but look old enough now I'm snakes.
[4:56] Speaker 3: I was having a Darry.
[4:58] Speaker 1: I was having a d and then I was with
[5:01] Speaker 1: one of my best mates, Aaron Gray, and I went
[5:03] Speaker 1: back to the bay.
[5:03] Speaker 3: We're just sort of looking at how good this?
[5:06] Speaker 1: And then I said, watch how fucking flict this this
[5:09] Speaker 1: Darry and went boll and flicked it and the rings
[5:10] Speaker 1: just slip off. I broke down. It was the worst moment.
[5:16] Speaker 1: It was so high the rollercoaster of rugby league was
[5:18] Speaker 1: like he and it just dipped straight down.
[5:20] Speaker 2: That's bad Monday for you, ruined, but it was it
[5:24] Speaker 2: was worse.
[5:25] Speaker 1: We went to I think the Golden Chief and the
[5:27] Speaker 1: Roosters boys had their awards night and I remember seeing
[5:30] Speaker 1: PC we had a little argieba with PC in the
[5:34] Speaker 1: prelium and then he goes, oh, what happened to your ring?
[5:37] Speaker 1: Because it broke and it sort of breaked down, But
[5:39] Speaker 1: then we were budded on and it just had a
[5:40] Speaker 1: good time, good life.
[5:41] Speaker 3: Same thing happened to me week after the Grand Final.
[5:44] Speaker 3: I'm driving along in the car and I'll go right
[5:46] Speaker 3: and you know, I look, I don't condone littering people
[5:53] Speaker 3: into a into a tissue, wound down the window, threw
[5:57] Speaker 3: it out and my Grand Final ring went with it,
[5:59] Speaker 3: just added bouncing down the road. Luckily we reversed up
[6:03] Speaker 3: and found it after about an hour like that sinking
[6:05] Speaker 3: feeling did.
[6:06] Speaker 1: Ever, they never resurfaced. But there's another one that popped
[6:12] Speaker 1: up somewhere in some drug dens they raided.
[6:17] Speaker 3: It was one of those guys who were tattoos. Big
[6:21] Speaker 3: guys were bids that ride motorbikes in groups. What do
[6:24] Speaker 3: you call them?
[6:25] Speaker 4: BMX They're like a scooter game electric by gang.
[6:29] Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember the reading that as well.
[6:31] Speaker 4: That was very's not sure who else lost their ring
[6:34] Speaker 4: as well.
[6:35] Speaker 3: They brought him a few.
[6:36] Speaker 1: Of us in question and they had to know where
[6:38] Speaker 1: my ring actually went and yeah, so I was like.
[6:42] Speaker 3: Well, I gave it to my brothers, my life before
[6:49] Speaker 3: we just shift onto football. I have to ask you this.
[6:51] Speaker 3: I always want to ask you this question because you
[6:53] Speaker 3: pick Ken Island. Ye, you were descended and Fletcher Christian.
[6:56] Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, I think he's like the or fourth grade.
[7:01] Speaker 3: That is unbelievable.
[7:03] Speaker 1: It's pretty crazy. I think when because I grew up
[7:07] Speaker 1: with my mum she told stories. But yeah, I didn't
[7:11] Speaker 1: realize until I was a little bit older that knowing
[7:13] Speaker 1: that becomes a rich history top of islands.
[7:16] Speaker 3: So it's amazing. You boys seen the mutnany on the Bounty.
[7:21] Speaker 3: So Fletcher Christian is played by mel Gibson. It's a
[7:24] Speaker 3: historical thing in the late eighteenth century and what they did,
[7:27] Speaker 3: Captain William Bly he set up, you know, to basically
[7:30] Speaker 3: travel the world around the Pacific and everything and made
[7:33] Speaker 3: it was pretty treacherous on there. There was guys who
[7:35] Speaker 3: had scurvy and everything. And suddenly they arrive in around
[7:39] Speaker 3: Tahooa and the Sandwich Islands and pitt Can Island and
[7:42] Speaker 3: they get off and his paradise. There's beautiful women, food
[7:45] Speaker 3: and everything, and then Captain blog goes right out. We've
[7:48] Speaker 3: had our three months here, let's go back on the boat.
[7:51] Speaker 3: And they just went, no, we're not going, We're not leaving,
[7:53] Speaker 3: and they and they stayed. It was like there the mutiny.
[7:55] Speaker 3: So there's a movie. So and the hero of the
[7:58] Speaker 3: movie played by Milks and as Fletcher Christian and his
[8:01] Speaker 3: descent and dlens are descended on. Yeah.
[8:05] Speaker 4: Have you ever spoke to reach out to Mel Gibson?
[8:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean him actually quite tight.
[8:10] Speaker 3: You wanted me to start in some movie soon, political news.
[8:14] Speaker 4: He listens to the potty, so yeah, we'll get him on.
[8:17] Speaker 3: He loves Yeah. How did the move come about?
[8:23] Speaker 1: Well, I was going to re sign with the Warriors
[8:26] Speaker 1: for one more year, and I just had a deep
[8:28] Speaker 1: feeling in myself because my kids have moved back here
[8:31] Speaker 1: and I was just there by myself. And then after
[8:35] Speaker 1: one of the games, it just felt like a sense
[8:37] Speaker 1: of no one, It's time to get back and be.
[8:40] Speaker 3: Around the kids.
[8:41] Speaker 1: They just started football just for Beacon Hill Bears. So yeah,
[8:46] Speaker 1: so the local team and me and me and I
[8:48] Speaker 1: just thought I had to get back and just set
[8:50] Speaker 1: my life back up over here and just ground it
[8:52] Speaker 1: again and then just be around them because there's mid year, right, Yeah,
[8:56] Speaker 1: I think it was in April. Yeah, yeah, it was
[8:59] Speaker 1: like three weeks in with the Warriors when in the
[9:01] Speaker 1: Vegas come back, played against the Roosters, and then yeah,
[9:06] Speaker 1: the deal was done with deals.
[9:07] Speaker 2: How is it received by the Warriors because you're a
[9:09] Speaker 2: big part of their squad.
[9:11] Speaker 4: Yeah, they just lost a lot of players there before.
[9:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it was.
[9:14] Speaker 1: It was a bit of a shock, but all the
[9:15] Speaker 1: boys knew the situation where I was just over there
[9:18] Speaker 1: by myself the year before, and they sort of all
[9:22] Speaker 1: understood like the big the big dogs there with Mitch
[9:25] Speaker 1: Barnett real close with and a lot of other guys left.
[9:28] Speaker 1: So you sort of seen all the young talent coming
[9:32] Speaker 1: through with Demitrick by among Yeah, like just unbelievable talent,
[9:39] Speaker 1: and I just thought it's it's the right time for
[9:41] Speaker 1: me to go. And I wasn't holding them back, but
[9:44] Speaker 1: it just would have given them more of an opportunity
[9:47] Speaker 1: to get more minutes.
[9:48] Speaker 4: Have you seen like did you play with her in
[9:51] Speaker 4: that Yeah?
[9:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I played a few games with because he
[9:55] Speaker 1: played I think he played this year. One game I
[9:58] Speaker 1: know definitely I played with in the Rooster's game, And
[10:01] Speaker 1: you can just see it from afar how special he was.
[10:03] Speaker 1: He's just an athletic things. He's fresh, he's a fresh kid,
[10:09] Speaker 1: but he's just he's fully wearness. The footy smarts, the
[10:12] Speaker 1: footy brain like he just got it a little bit.
[10:15] Speaker 1: Him and demetric, and just the way they moved in
[10:17] Speaker 1: defense and how they read the plays defensively, you can
[10:20] Speaker 1: just tell that the attack and they were just going
[10:23] Speaker 1: to become regular. First.
[10:24] Speaker 4: It seems like it's always been hard for the Warriors
[10:26] Speaker 4: to like bring through their own junior talent because they
[10:28] Speaker 4: lose so much to Rugby Union. And now it seems
[10:32] Speaker 4: like now a lot of them, a lot of young
[10:33] Speaker 4: guys want to play for the Warriors.
[10:35] Speaker 1: Well they've done a mad job over there, Warriors where
[10:38] Speaker 1: Union is the big pinnacle over there, and everyone wants
[10:40] Speaker 1: to play for the All Blacks. But the way how
[10:43] Speaker 1: we went in twenty twenty one, you could just see
[10:45] Speaker 1: the big shift and yeah, and you when you're getting
[10:48] Speaker 1: around there, people were just going like they leave you alone.
[10:52] Speaker 3: Jabot, good game. It's just that. But just the way
[10:56] Speaker 3: how they.
[10:57] Speaker 1: Market the franchise and how they get around and make
[11:01] Speaker 1: people come to the games was unbelievable.
[11:04] Speaker 3: You see, Yeah, they used the early years coops up
[11:07] Speaker 3: until the All Blacks and New Zealand Ruby Union really
[11:10] Speaker 3: changed their system to try to count of the Warriors
[11:13] Speaker 3: because you had guys. When the under twenties, when Holden
[11:15] Speaker 3: Cup was being televised live, all some of the All
[11:19] Speaker 3: Blacks best juniors were being onder all the Warriors to
[11:21] Speaker 3: go in there and and the All Blacks changed the
[11:23] Speaker 3: policy which kept a lot of the good kids away.
[11:25] Speaker 3: But the emergence of the Wars like hell to see it.
[11:28] Speaker 3: From the moment you sawing, it's like you got that
[11:31] Speaker 3: big center of balance and that triscooed against the Knights
[11:34] Speaker 3: that completely break the spirit of the Knights players. That
[11:36] Speaker 3: was incredible.
[11:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I remember his first his first game,
[11:40] Speaker 1: he played the Bulldogs and he breake through. He almost
[11:42] Speaker 1: s goed the man, it's good for us against the
[11:44] Speaker 1: Bulldogs last year and just seeing him from there, this
[11:47] Speaker 1: kid's going to be special.
[11:48] Speaker 3: I know that.
[11:49] Speaker 1: In the junior ranks one I think the se Ball
[11:51] Speaker 1: Player of the year a year younger and just he
[11:54] Speaker 1: was just a boy playing football then and then he
[11:58] Speaker 1: played Cup and then he made men look silly.
[12:01] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[12:02] Speaker 1: He scored two tries in one of his first games
[12:04] Speaker 1: and just ran over.
[12:05] Speaker 3: A bit, Dylan, the emergence of the wist phenomenon, you know,
[12:09] Speaker 3: because you often see an organization catch fire when they
[12:13] Speaker 3: win a Grand Final some of that. But you know
[12:15] Speaker 3: post COVID what what I mean, what happened suddenly for
[12:20] Speaker 3: the team just to just explode and the fan base
[12:22] Speaker 3: and everything.
[12:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think when Wherebe come over from the Panthers,
[12:27] Speaker 1: he brought that system with him, and I think we
[12:30] Speaker 1: would all know that the systems high completions, possessions a
[12:34] Speaker 1: big thing over there, and where you leave teams in
[12:37] Speaker 1: the corner inside their twenty, if you can land the
[12:40] Speaker 1: kick in there and just get out there and have
[12:42] Speaker 1: your discipline right. He's sort of really done the game
[12:45] Speaker 1: down for a lot of us and made it a
[12:48] Speaker 1: lot easier and cleary game to be, Like, Okay, we're big,
[12:51] Speaker 1: powerful boys with all the young guys coming through. If
[12:54] Speaker 1: we can just roll, find momentum and play the cues,
[12:57] Speaker 1: then shown he can put it in the corner kick
[13:00] Speaker 1: and then you get them. Making two or three tackles
[13:02] Speaker 1: from marker sort of saves a lot of juice. Yeah,
[13:06] Speaker 1: do less, But if you're in the middle like me,
[13:08] Speaker 1: now I'm like I'm doing more than want to be
[13:10] Speaker 1: back out. But yeah, he just sort of done the
[13:14] Speaker 1: game down for the whole, for the whole organization and
[13:17] Speaker 1: I most boys from the post COVID day, it was
[13:21] Speaker 1: just a good sense of feeling being back home.
[13:24] Speaker 3: Do you think it was like the fact that that
[13:26] Speaker 3: the that the team was the sporer went across and
[13:30] Speaker 3: living in Australia for so long and coming back it
[13:32] Speaker 3: was almost like a welcming but you don't realize what
[13:35] Speaker 3: you've got intil it's not there.
[13:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just a blank canvas, let's start fresh,
[13:40] Speaker 1: new coach, lots of new people coming in and everyone
[13:44] Speaker 1: sort of just felt like, okay, this is where we
[13:47] Speaker 1: can rewrite the story. So where we made that very
[13:51] Speaker 1: clear and everyone wanted to start fresh and just earn everything.
[13:54] Speaker 1: And it started in that preseason where everyone was ripping in.
[13:57] Speaker 1: Shawnee had one of his best preseasons from what the
[14:00] Speaker 1: boys are telling us, and then he almost comes out
[14:02] Speaker 1: wins dam.
[14:03] Speaker 3: Yeah. The culture of the New Zealand side the Warrior
[14:05] Speaker 3: is how different is it to the Australian clubs? Is
[14:08] Speaker 3: there a difference you find? Yeah, I find it's a
[14:12] Speaker 3: funny one. A lot of people ask me about all
[14:13] Speaker 3: the younger guys.
[14:14] Speaker 1: They're very respectful in a way. It's not saying that
[14:17] Speaker 1: they're not respectful here, but there's more of an ego
[14:19] Speaker 1: with the younger kids over here. Yeah, and you get
[14:23] Speaker 1: you get across and you can tell it, you know what.
[14:26] Speaker 1: I looking back at it now. When you're a young
[14:29] Speaker 1: kid in Australia you only know Rugua League in the NRL.
[14:33] Speaker 1: You can become a star playing through the under twenties,
[14:35] Speaker 1: just like when Benny Barber. Like everyone I knew Benny
[14:38] Speaker 1: Baba when he was playing under twenties with blonde streaks.
[14:40] Speaker 1: And I think over there because it's so dominated by
[14:43] Speaker 1: the Union, but the kids over there, how they're raised
[14:46] Speaker 1: and the culture in itself, it's very respectful.
[14:49] Speaker 3: It's not you know, you're the young one, stay quiet.
[14:53] Speaker 1: It's very much like will follow until it's right, and
[14:57] Speaker 1: you've just got to get the right people in the
[14:59] Speaker 1: right places, making the right decisions and showing you know,
[15:02] Speaker 1: how to be men in a game.
[15:05] Speaker 4: Because by nature, like a lot of the Polynesian cultures,
[15:08] Speaker 4: they're very quiet and like particularly like team meetings and stuff,
[15:12] Speaker 4: they won't really speak up because of those older boys
[15:15] Speaker 4: in the room who they feel like, out of respect,
[15:18] Speaker 4: they should be the ones talking.
[15:19] Speaker 2: Is I like that the worries?
[15:21] Speaker 1: Nah, Well it was very because you know Harris, like
[15:24] Speaker 1: he's one of the most reserved dudes I've met, but
[15:28] Speaker 1: he's got this character about him where he allows other
[15:31] Speaker 1: people to speak up, He leans on other people to
[15:34] Speaker 1: come in and speak about in the group and having
[15:37] Speaker 1: that culture, and I think when you've got guys like that,
[15:40] Speaker 1: you've sort of got to know how to play or
[15:42] Speaker 1: how to speak to get them to come out of
[15:44] Speaker 1: their comfort zone. And having leaders like that where they're
[15:47] Speaker 1: not direct, harsh or anything like that, at showing culture
[15:50] Speaker 1: where you can be a little bit more reserved but
[15:53] Speaker 1: allow them to come through and feel that leadership. Well, yeah,
[15:58] Speaker 1: he was a real big, you know, pinnacle, like what's
[16:02] Speaker 1: called a pillar. And the success for the.
[16:04] Speaker 3: Warriors such an important thing, isn't it, Like, you know,
[16:07] Speaker 3: for young guys to feel comfortable in a room, to
[16:10] Speaker 3: be able to have their say respectfully of course, but
[16:14] Speaker 3: you know, as opposed to some coaches basically hit up
[16:17] Speaker 3: there the election and just say basically stand away, say
[16:20] Speaker 3: what you know, shut your mouths.
[16:22] Speaker 2: Is the training tough over there.
[16:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, Ballan Couples.
[16:25] Speaker 3: I don't know if you do. You know anyone know
[16:27] Speaker 3: Batan Couples.
[16:28] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, he could follow real good dude. Yeah,
[16:33] Speaker 1: training is tough.
[16:33] Speaker 3: It's always tough, tough everywhere. It's tough everywhere wherever you go.
[16:36] Speaker 1: But it was the thing about wherever it was, we
[16:41] Speaker 1: did a lot of running. But once that December kicked up,
[16:44] Speaker 1: when we come after Christmas, it was just awfootball and
[16:47] Speaker 1: that was his regime of wanting to get the best
[16:50] Speaker 1: out of the team. It's just we just used to
[16:52] Speaker 1: do Heber arm wrestles, you know, arm wrestles. And that's
[16:55] Speaker 1: fine because you can come to the train and go like,
[16:57] Speaker 1: I'm not doing one, this's running. I'm actually doing something
[16:59] Speaker 1: that's going to go help me go into the game.
[17:01] Speaker 3: So applicably, had lots of fun, applicable information you're working on.
[17:05] Speaker 3: Marino does the same with soccer. They reckon when when
[17:07] Speaker 3: they went when he first went to Chelsea, they turned
[17:09] Speaker 3: up and the players had their running shoes. He said,
[17:11] Speaker 3: you won't need those, just bring your boots. Yeah. Yeah.
[17:13] Speaker 3: Just playing five on five games skill based, as you said,
[17:17] Speaker 3: makes it fun. Yeah, as opposed to just putting the
[17:19] Speaker 3: blinkers on a run four hundred meters.
[17:21] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly. When you're doing that, it's.
[17:24] Speaker 4: Yeah, you know what, you know what, it's rank and
[17:28] Speaker 4: you know what's funny, like the amount of boys and
[17:31] Speaker 4: this is this happens from like under sixteens Harrold Matthews
[17:34] Speaker 4: right up until NRL. There are some players who are
[17:39] Speaker 4: that good at like that that mental tough running, like
[17:42] Speaker 4: long distance you're doing like four hundred meters sprints or
[17:44] Speaker 4: things like that. They could be the fittest in the
[17:46] Speaker 4: whole group. But then you put them in a drill
[17:50] Speaker 4: like a ten minute arm wrestle where you're playing a
[17:51] Speaker 4: game consistently back and forth for ten minutes, simulating a
[17:55] Speaker 4: game speed, and they're the worst fitness of them are.
[17:58] Speaker 2: It's such different.
[17:59] Speaker 3: Look at still running the person of the rower. You
[18:01] Speaker 3: get some guys that would come last in the running,
[18:03] Speaker 3: but put them on the rower because there's six foot
[18:05] Speaker 3: six foot four and you know, and all of a
[18:07] Speaker 3: sudden they just tearing the thing apart.
[18:09] Speaker 1: What's that the train like Jane, Yeah, yeah, there's all
[18:15] Speaker 1: those ones, but the first and the only person I've
[18:17] Speaker 1: ever seen that trains like Jane but plays like tars In.
[18:20] Speaker 1: It's really bangers, mate. I love him to death. Me
[18:26] Speaker 1: and him are tight, We're pretty close. But I've never
[18:29] Speaker 1: seen the bloke as a leader.
[18:31] Speaker 3: Go like, all right, but he used to.
[18:32] Speaker 1: Just come to training Sometimes I'm like, what are you
[18:34] Speaker 1: doing here? Do you want to be here? And then
[18:36] Speaker 1: you come out and make fifty tackles, run for two
[18:39] Speaker 1: and fifty and I'm like, all right, I love this
[18:41] Speaker 1: guy a bit more.
[18:43] Speaker 3: You get those red blokes.
[18:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, there are so many.
[18:46] Speaker 3: Idal on like like you. Me and he have spoken
[18:50] Speaker 3: about this a few times on our Sunday and Night chower.
[18:52] Speaker 3: My paramrit started, Mate, that what I really felt for
[18:55] Speaker 3: Roles because you haven't got you haven't got Mitch. You've
[18:58] Speaker 3: got all the uncertainty around Dylan Brown. Mate, they're getting
[19:02] Speaker 3: getting hammered. I reckon. Everything changed in that football side
[19:06] Speaker 3: against Saint George, that day against the Dragons when you
[19:09] Speaker 3: come on into that middle. From the moment you come on, mate,
[19:12] Speaker 3: everything started to fall into place, like did you did
[19:16] Speaker 3: you feel that yourself? That was let me ask that
[19:19] Speaker 3: different way to actually be more? How good? How good
[19:22] Speaker 3: does it feel to be the club where you are
[19:25] Speaker 3: like one of the central leaders.
[19:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's when I first come over and
[19:31] Speaker 1: sort of join the team. Everyone's welcoming, but you've sort
[19:34] Speaker 1: of almost got to like the ego, the healthy ego.
[19:37] Speaker 1: I had to come in and be like, you prove
[19:40] Speaker 1: yourself a little bit, but then it's you talk, your actions,
[19:42] Speaker 1: you lead, and then when you come on in the field,
[19:44] Speaker 1: all I wanted to do was like, no matter what
[19:46] Speaker 1: happened on the day, I wanted to win.
[19:48] Speaker 3: I just wanted to.
[19:49] Speaker 1: Be that that got not the guy to be like
[19:51] Speaker 1: oh because of me, But I just wanted to go like, Okay,
[19:53] Speaker 1: I'm like I'm here for business.
[19:55] Speaker 3: And when it.
[19:56] Speaker 1: Sort of happened and sort of going into that game,
[19:59] Speaker 1: it's sort of they didn't they had that thirteen role
[20:03] Speaker 1: that ball playing thirteen like we got good. But I
[20:06] Speaker 1: just knew that if we got there and had to
[20:09] Speaker 1: play in a certain style that it was almost going
[20:11] Speaker 1: to help everyone around us. With the full back Isaiah Yoga,
[20:14] Speaker 1: who's honestly he's going to be He's.
[20:17] Speaker 3: Going to be a great player, like a slater top. Yeah,
[20:20] Speaker 3: Like he's just so diligent.
[20:21] Speaker 1: He's he's got that footy brain where he can read
[20:25] Speaker 1: the play, but then he's also he's a good kid,
[20:28] Speaker 1: you know what I mean, that's even better, and he's he's.
[20:30] Speaker 3: A humble kid.
[20:31] Speaker 1: He goes about his business and I like what he does.
[20:33] Speaker 1: But it's sort of just unlocks everyone that was out
[20:36] Speaker 1: there with the fox Dell Brown, and once that sort
[20:39] Speaker 1: of happened, it just made it.
[20:40] Speaker 3: A lot easier for us. He's it's not like talking
[20:44] Speaker 3: about you. Jack shaded me one morning when he's played mainly.
[20:47] Speaker 3: He said, Jason, come have a look at this, and
[20:50] Speaker 3: we used it on the shower and it was He's
[20:53] Speaker 3: kicked long down field. He led the kick chase, he
[20:57] Speaker 3: hit turbo almost on impact. Then he made two from
[21:00] Speaker 3: marker and then he turned around. Most people would tell
[21:02] Speaker 3: they're going to go for forty twenty, he'd tell the
[21:04] Speaker 3: wing to go back, but he turns around, he sprints back,
[21:07] Speaker 3: they go for the forty twenty. He catches it on
[21:09] Speaker 3: the fall, just charges in like that that forty seconds.
[21:12] Speaker 3: What he did there, I just went, mate. He's tough,
[21:15] Speaker 3: he's got great tactical awareness, and he's skillful.
[21:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. I think you can't teach
[21:21] Speaker 1: that or coach that. But he sort of what I
[21:25] Speaker 1: love how Rosie is. He hasn't diverted from his plan
[21:29] Speaker 1: at one bit. He stuck strong to what he beleds
[21:32] Speaker 1: is going to work. And he always says that whoever's
[21:35] Speaker 1: if you're in that position to do this, like the
[21:37] Speaker 1: Mark Attucky, you said, you've got to do it. And
[21:39] Speaker 1: then so he's done that a fair few times and
[21:43] Speaker 1: it sort of helps everybody, and then he gets back
[21:45] Speaker 1: to position and he's saving forty twenties or catch the
[21:48] Speaker 1: ball in the fall and bringing it back and then
[21:49] Speaker 1: taking the play three carry in. Honestly, that kid's going
[21:53] Speaker 1: to be a special special.
[21:55] Speaker 4: You can tell like that it's he's come from obviously
[21:58] Speaker 4: come from Panrith. But he follows a bloke like, oh seriously,
[22:02] Speaker 4: there are that many people coming out of here. But
[22:04] Speaker 4: he follows a player like Dylan Edwards, and you can
[22:07] Speaker 4: see that, like young, he's got that much talent. He
[22:09] Speaker 4: probably doesn't need to have a work ethic like he does.
[22:13] Speaker 4: But he's based so much of his game off effort. Yeah,
[22:16] Speaker 4: like plays like that where fullbacks aren't expected to make
[22:19] Speaker 4: two tackles from marker and then get back and stop
[22:21] Speaker 4: at forty twenty. But he gets that from a player
[22:24] Speaker 4: that he's followed like Dylan Edwards who's been doing that
[22:26] Speaker 4: his whole career as well.
[22:26] Speaker 3: That's right, Yeah, the bloke ahead of him then you
[22:29] Speaker 3: know he's smart kid. He can watch what he does.
[22:31] Speaker 3: And yet take that away to a bloke who deserves
[22:33] Speaker 3: a rap, Dylan and you know he's going to my
[22:36] Speaker 3: old club, Dylan Brown. A lot was going on at
[22:38] Speaker 3: the time. And the money they're offering, I mean, look,
[22:41] Speaker 3: you can't knock that back. Is he worth the not
[22:43] Speaker 3: Let's just not go there. Who knows he might turn
[22:45] Speaker 3: out to be. But the way he's conducted himself while
[22:48] Speaker 3: he's remained at your club, not many blokes will be
[22:50] Speaker 3: able to do that.
[22:50] Speaker 1: Ye undred percent. Yeah. I think we've all been in
[22:53] Speaker 1: a position where he's seen boys throw the toys out
[22:55] Speaker 1: of the cot gun stuff this some mew.
[22:58] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[22:58] Speaker 1: To his credit, he's he's rocked up every day, hasn't
[23:02] Speaker 1: put a foot wrong. Is he worth it or whatnot?
[23:05] Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. Like he's doing the best decision that's
[23:07] Speaker 1: based for his family, and that's what's been presented. And
[23:11] Speaker 1: let's be honest.
[23:12] Speaker 2: Who would say I don't get it.
[23:15] Speaker 4: I do not understand why he cops criticism because you
[23:18] Speaker 4: go the things I would do for that sort of money,
[23:21] Speaker 4: I would do some disgusting I would.
[23:24] Speaker 3: I would do things that I would not say in
[23:26] Speaker 3: front of my family.
[23:29] Speaker 4: I would dive naked in Sydney Harbor and fish out
[23:32] Speaker 4: Dylan Walker's premiershire.
[23:36] Speaker 1: That's good off the cut that I like that, I
[23:43] Speaker 1: do that.
[23:46] Speaker 4: He congratulations on two fifty as well.
[23:51] Speaker 2: Holy Ship wracked up some games.
[23:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's been a good career, be very tould.
[23:58] Speaker 1: But I wouldn't change it for the world.
[24:00] Speaker 3: That's yeah.
[24:01] Speaker 2: Road to three hundred, let's get behind.
[24:05] Speaker 4: It's only been about fifty Look at it the other
[24:07] Speaker 4: day when Chez and Benny Hunt played there three undre
[24:10] Speaker 4: It's only been about fifty five fifty players that have
[24:12] Speaker 4: played three undred game.
[24:13] Speaker 3: Incredible. I think might have been Terry Limb might have
[24:16] Speaker 3: been the first one anyone. Nonetheless, I'm talking ancient times here.
[24:20] Speaker 3: You know, a little hint that some of the boys
[24:22] Speaker 3: are going to have a good seasons. Trisha and I
[24:25] Speaker 3: are up at at Ballina. What we're doing up there
[24:27] Speaker 3: have done neither was really cone heads, but anyway, nonetheless
[24:31] Speaker 3: we are. We've got that and I'm coming through and
[24:34] Speaker 3: Paramatta had played a troll game the day before. Of course,
[24:37] Speaker 3: at this point you're still at Warriors, and we came
[24:39] Speaker 3: through the airport and it was the young Pacific Oland
[24:41] Speaker 3: fellow there come up to me and said, maybe a
[24:43] Speaker 3: little while ago we had paramedic come through. He goes, fuck,
[24:47] Speaker 3: he said, I reckon Junior has lost twenty kilos. He said.
[24:49] Speaker 3: He looked at how good has he gone?
[24:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think when everyone saw it from the start
[24:55] Speaker 1: of the season, because you don't see the boys or
[24:57] Speaker 1: see anyone outside of until round one basic. But yeah,
[25:01] Speaker 1: he's in good, Nick, very good Nick. He's I think
[25:04] Speaker 1: he dropped fifteen kegs. It's just coming back from that preseason.
[25:08] Speaker 1: I think. I don't know what happened. I haven't gone
[25:10] Speaker 1: to deep with that with him. But he's good on
[25:14] Speaker 1: his diet. He's changed that up. He goes for late
[25:17] Speaker 1: walks that night every night, like a bit of a routine,
[25:20] Speaker 1: just to you know, just.
[25:21] Speaker 3: Get that health.
[25:22] Speaker 2: How late.
[25:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not a good sleep, not a good sleeper.
[25:28] Speaker 3: He's got his he's got his dog. He goes.
[25:30] Speaker 1: He goes walking on the way trips. When we went
[25:33] Speaker 1: up to when the first one I seen him walking
[25:35] Speaker 1: at eight thirty. You get I just went for a walk,
[25:37] Speaker 1: and he said that he was talking to all the
[25:39] Speaker 1: locals up there clear on the head.
[25:42] Speaker 2: I was up in Darwin earlier this year. Eight thirty
[25:44] Speaker 2: at night.
[25:45] Speaker 4: You wouldn't want to be walking around the street to
[25:46] Speaker 4: Darwin gets kind of dangerous.
[25:49] Speaker 3: You should be Okay, Foxy, What what a season fox
[25:53] Speaker 3: has had? Yeah, he's been. Man, I'm unbelievable. Like it's
[25:56] Speaker 3: similar to you, like when we had him Urler in
[25:58] Speaker 3: the year in the podcast, you could just see how
[26:00] Speaker 3: happy he was, Like, which comes back to my original point.
[26:04] Speaker 3: You just see something in that paramount aside, it's the
[26:07] Speaker 3: way he's played, the enthusiasm. You can see you're enjoying
[26:10] Speaker 3: your attack. Just looks like a happy team. Yeah, how
[26:12] Speaker 3: important that is.
[26:13] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the environment, the way that the coaches, even
[26:16] Speaker 1: the boys. The boys, it's like back in the old
[26:19] Speaker 1: school days where the boys are putting it on each
[26:22] Speaker 1: other or they've got the wheel out if you're late,
[26:24] Speaker 1: you've got to do this, like all the fun stuff
[26:26] Speaker 1: and I haven't had it for the last few years.
[26:29] Speaker 1: But just the way that Rosie Brownie semi male all
[26:32] Speaker 1: this season, coaches, how to make football relevant to what
[26:35] Speaker 1: we're actually doing during that week. It's not just God,
[26:37] Speaker 1: we're doing this where everything's got a purpose to it
[26:41] Speaker 1: and when you're coming into training. The best thing about
[26:44] Speaker 1: it is Rosie says he uses footy brain a lot.
[26:48] Speaker 1: And it's not like a black or white system where
[26:50] Speaker 1: I've had Dassi wears it's black or white. You've got
[26:52] Speaker 1: a gym, you've got to do this. It's just like
[26:54] Speaker 1: so systematically where he's like, back yourself to make your
[26:57] Speaker 1: fullty decision with your brain.
[26:59] Speaker 3: And that's for I love. And as soon as I sort.
[27:01] Speaker 1: Of clicked onto it, I was like, oh, I love
[27:04] Speaker 1: that it's in that gray area where you're allowed to
[27:06] Speaker 1: make the decision. If it's based on you, not so much.
[27:09] Speaker 1: If this person he's inside shoulder, you've got to go.
[27:13] Speaker 2: Yeah, your instinct.
[27:16] Speaker 3: I love that, Dylan. I love that. I frustrates the
[27:19] Speaker 3: shit out to me watching outside backs and the and
[27:21] Speaker 3: the wingers outside the center, and the winger obviously knows
[27:24] Speaker 3: the center has made a dud decision, but he just
[27:26] Speaker 3: jumps in the fire as well. Yeah, yeah, I mean,
[27:28] Speaker 3: use your use your use a bit of instinct to
[27:31] Speaker 3: know how to solve that. Yeah, and that's what Rosie,
[27:34] Speaker 3: that's all he backs.
[27:34] Speaker 1: He's just used your footy brain and the way that
[27:37] Speaker 1: fox he's played this year, you can tell he's been
[27:40] Speaker 1: He's real happy, he said over the Dogs. He he
[27:43] Speaker 1: said it was hard training, but he just he enjoys
[27:46] Speaker 1: just been around this group, like it's a good group.
[27:49] Speaker 1: Everyone's close with each other, always catch off coffees or
[27:52] Speaker 1: going out for breakfast in the mornings the day before
[27:54] Speaker 1: the game, and it's just getting getting around the boys.
[27:57] Speaker 4: Which is a finish the year striking going in to
[28:00] Speaker 4: obviously the year. The start of the year was pretty
[28:03] Speaker 4: like poor and it was probably wrote wrote finals off
[28:06] Speaker 4: quite early. But the way he's have finished, given all
[28:09] Speaker 4: the turnover of players, people are leaving. What you guys
[28:13] Speaker 4: have done on the field without having like Dylan Brown
[28:15] Speaker 4: out there, this must be pretty excited going into twenty
[28:17] Speaker 4: twenty six.
[28:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, undreds, and I think we've had that many injuries,
[28:21] Speaker 1: Like miss has been out for a while, he comes
[28:23] Speaker 1: in for a few weeks and he's back out turnover players.
[28:27] Speaker 1: He's bleeding a lot of young guys and clubs sort
[28:30] Speaker 1: of they need those years to sort of blood it
[28:33] Speaker 1: so you can get that continuity within each other, especially
[28:38] Speaker 1: with the young guys and who you bring in and
[28:40] Speaker 1: the way that the young guys have gone about it,
[28:42] Speaker 1: and it's been so consistent to finally again results on
[28:46] Speaker 1: the football field and seeing that, okay, our belong is
[28:49] Speaker 1: only going to be a massive help going forward into
[28:51] Speaker 1: next year. And we've all spoken about how finishing the
[28:56] Speaker 1: you know, the year strong is going to help us.
[28:58] Speaker 1: But it's just within the games. When we lost in
[29:00] Speaker 1: Melbourne a few weeks ago, top of the table Melbourne
[29:04] Speaker 1: side typically are pretty hard and we had I think
[29:08] Speaker 1: Dean Hawkins in the seven and Joe ash at the
[29:10] Speaker 1: six or one of them too. But just seeing the
[29:14] Speaker 1: confidence that the boys got with going close with the team,
[29:18] Speaker 1: that's that powerful, you sort of Our football has just
[29:22] Speaker 1: been building for the past month or two and going
[29:24] Speaker 1: into the end of the season now where we're winning games,
[29:28] Speaker 1: people are starting to believe that the first grade is now.
[29:31] Speaker 3: You just mentioned Dean Hawks got a better kick, better
[29:40] Speaker 3: touch on the ball he's kicking.
[29:41] Speaker 2: How weird is his ball drop?
[29:43] Speaker 3: Yeah? I find it weird.
[29:44] Speaker 2: If you ever, if.
[29:45] Speaker 4: People are listening, if you ever watch Dean Hawkins kick
[29:48] Speaker 4: the ball he drops it in the most unorthodox way. Yeah, yeah,
[29:51] Speaker 4: he like flips it like he flips it on such ones.
[29:55] Speaker 3: I said, maybe you sound like hit the ball better
[29:57] Speaker 3: than that he has made. It's terrible. Look at the drops.
[30:00] Speaker 3: Who gives a fuck? Yeah he's a Souse sinning boy,
[30:05] Speaker 3: and like you're part of that team deal in that
[30:08] Speaker 3: great club. It's when it's first comps is ninety seventy one,
[30:11] Speaker 3: Like if you go down Redfern Now, like I know,
[30:13] Speaker 3: whenever you've played a club, you have bonds. But South supporters,
[30:16] Speaker 3: how do they treat treat you? Nah, they're good.
[30:18] Speaker 1: I actually went down to the Logo a Grade Grand
[30:22] Speaker 1: final last weekend and you see some heads that you
[30:25] Speaker 1: haven't seen hope not to see again. Some people just
[30:30] Speaker 1: haven't changed. But it's been good. The South fans they
[30:33] Speaker 1: always gonna say I liked you better at Souse and
[30:35] Speaker 1: I go, mate, that's a different lifetime. I go for me,
[30:38] Speaker 1: it was like ten years ago. But no, everyone's pretty cool.
[30:43] Speaker 3: What about those bikes we look back at that time
[30:45] Speaker 3: like g Iron Sam, Yeah yeah, what did you learn
[30:48] Speaker 3: from those blikes? Uh?
[30:51] Speaker 1: Semi was probably the best leader of men where you're
[30:55] Speaker 1: like I walk through fire with his Blake Jack says, Yeah,
[30:59] Speaker 1: he was one of those guys where I don't know,
[31:04] Speaker 1: he's just had this thing where it's just like he's
[31:05] Speaker 1: outphae like if there was that, I don't even know
[31:07] Speaker 1: how to explain an a about him.
[31:09] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just the the aora about him.
[31:11] Speaker 1: You knew he was going to turn up each and
[31:13] Speaker 1: every week. He was one that you're like, I'm going
[31:16] Speaker 1: to follow these guys. G I was just he was
[31:19] Speaker 1: He was a freak. He was everyone's favorite player growing up.
[31:22] Speaker 1: He was just always set back your ability. But yeah,
[31:26] Speaker 1: I think Sammi there even John Sudden to an extent
[31:28] Speaker 1: where because he's just the local boy where you sort
[31:31] Speaker 1: of can connect with him as I was a bit
[31:35] Speaker 1: of a yeah wrap back in Cison around the streets,
[31:38] Speaker 1: just cruise, cruising along just but yeah, yeah I connected
[31:46] Speaker 1: with pretty good and then but yeah, Sammy was the
[31:49] Speaker 1: one where everyone just looked towards when you needed something.
[31:52] Speaker 4: What's it like like when you go in and debut
[31:53] Speaker 4: on that side and you've got those leaders where you're
[31:56] Speaker 4: like your first interaction with him when you first go
[31:58] Speaker 4: into full time at NRAL, you're pretty intimidated.
[32:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, I was only on back then because they didn't.
[32:04] Speaker 1: Have the top thirty, but they used to bring kids
[32:06] Speaker 1: in and I was straight out of high school doing
[32:08] Speaker 1: my first preseason and I was only supposed to go
[32:11] Speaker 1: to the Christmas break. But then Madge obviously liked what
[32:15] Speaker 1: he saw and he said, I want you to come back.
[32:16] Speaker 1: And then back then I was only getting five hundred
[32:18] Speaker 1: bucks a month on the twenties contract. All the kids
[32:21] Speaker 1: now getting thousand a week. But yeah, daunting I remember.
[32:28] Speaker 1: I think the first training session the older boys went back.
[32:31] Speaker 1: We had the work week for two weeks. Madge boy see.
[32:34] Speaker 1: I think it was the Melbourne type situation where you
[32:37] Speaker 1: had to appreciate your job, and so we were on
[32:39] Speaker 1: the job site for two weeks. Go do ways in
[32:42] Speaker 1: the morning, do that, come back an afternoon, get flogged.
[32:44] Speaker 2: That sucks.
[32:45] Speaker 3: It sucks.
[32:47] Speaker 2: What did you do?
[32:48] Speaker 1: I actually had a pretty good gig. I was out
[32:50] Speaker 1: at Mossman. We're just I think we're clearing out these
[32:52] Speaker 1: blokes trees and bushes. But then we would have a
[32:55] Speaker 1: break and kick the feed up because he would have
[32:57] Speaker 1: to go all the way to the tip and then
[32:59] Speaker 1: so then we couldn't do any work until he got back.
[33:01] Speaker 1: And I did that for two days, and then I
[33:03] Speaker 1: found a ship job because one of the boys had
[33:05] Speaker 1: to pull out down Alexandria brick laying, so we had
[33:08] Speaker 1: to stack bricks for the all the boys there just
[33:12] Speaker 1: paving the way, seeing Blake smack about two packets a
[33:15] Speaker 1: day easy.
[33:18] Speaker 3: He was up there just because we were stacking the
[33:21] Speaker 3: bricks for him.
[33:21] Speaker 1: So he was just he's backing up and if he
[33:24] Speaker 1: landed down, U be stacking the bricks and he has thanks,
[33:27] Speaker 1: and then he come back here, Thanks Chimpy. It was
[33:31] Speaker 1: all these funny little things, but it was good. It
[33:34] Speaker 1: was a good experience. It was something that you got
[33:36] Speaker 1: you look back on and you go, all right, I've
[33:38] Speaker 1: done my done my beat.
[33:40] Speaker 2: Did you have a partner without doing it?
[33:41] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[33:41] Speaker 1: It was me and nuppy chorus. Oh yeah, so mean
[33:46] Speaker 1: they caught a sleeping on the and he goes, you're
[33:50] Speaker 1: not going to get fired doing that boys.
[33:52] Speaker 4: Yeah, sweet Blake said the same thing to me.
[33:55] Speaker 3: I remember.
[33:55] Speaker 2: It was me and Harry Grant.
[33:56] Speaker 4: We were doing like plumbing out of pre slabs with
[34:00] Speaker 4: lay the concrete when you go through all the pipes
[34:01] Speaker 4: to make sure they weren't cracked, and Harry was like
[34:04] Speaker 4: he'd already done one year out of school as an apprentice.
[34:06] Speaker 2: I'd come straight out of school.
[34:07] Speaker 4: And let's be honest, Dylan probably had been silver Spoon
[34:11] Speaker 4: for a lot of my life.
[34:13] Speaker 2: So back then my work ethic probably wasn't where.
[34:16] Speaker 1: I wouldn't believe it, mate, I wouldn't believe it.
[34:21] Speaker 4: And the bloke just went after me, did not leave
[34:24] Speaker 4: me alone, like just wrapping Harry all the time being
[34:27] Speaker 4: like like you you'll play.
[34:31] Speaker 2: He was bagging Dad and Joey a lot. At one stage,
[34:36] Speaker 2: asked Harry, I remember the day it was.
[34:37] Speaker 4: It was a Thursday, and I and he made me
[34:40] Speaker 4: go and shovel while him and Harry were eating sandwiches.
[34:43] Speaker 4: And then I was shoveling and he goes, you're just
[34:46] Speaker 4: like your your dad and uncle like ship on it,
[34:48] Speaker 4: like ship work ethic and all this like start hammering
[34:51] Speaker 4: you guys and I and this spokes.
[34:52] Speaker 2: From Melbourne respectfully to him. He had no idea. You
[34:57] Speaker 2: wouldn't have had.
[34:57] Speaker 4: Any idea what you en Joey were like a players.
[35:00] Speaker 4: And I said, mate, you wouldn't know the first thing
[35:01] Speaker 4: about regular.
[35:02] Speaker 3: For our new listeners, you've got to tell him the story.
[35:05] Speaker 3: There's a reason why he doesn't like you.
[35:06] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, so there's a backstory to it.
[35:10] Speaker 4: But respectfully, respectfully, to me, this was a This was
[35:14] Speaker 4: literally after that day. I was assuming so much that
[35:17] Speaker 4: I decided to get back at him because he had
[35:18] Speaker 4: an apprentice with him who was actually with him full time,
[35:20] Speaker 4: and he gave us some inside knowledge about so you know,
[35:24] Speaker 4: like domain and those those things that are like they'll
[35:27] Speaker 4: they'll build mass houses all at once. So he was
[35:30] Speaker 4: trying to get work with like one of those trying
[35:32] Speaker 4: to get the contract, trying to get the contract, and
[35:35] Speaker 4: his apprentice told me and Harry, and Harry goes, oh,
[35:37] Speaker 4: we should get him, because he goes, you two got
[35:41] Speaker 4: this running thing.
[35:42] Speaker 2: We should we should fucking get him. Yes, sweet.
[35:46] Speaker 4: So I've texted him off my number because he didn't
[35:48] Speaker 4: have my number, and I said, may, I'm trying to
[35:51] Speaker 4: remember what the company is called. Let's call it. Let's
[35:54] Speaker 4: call it painting. You know, mate, I'm Cooper from Painting.
[35:57] Speaker 4: He mate, we've been reviewing your application to take on
[36:00] Speaker 4: the contract.
[36:00] Speaker 2: It's looking really good.
[36:02] Speaker 3: You know.
[36:03] Speaker 4: We'd love to chat with you more when you get
[36:05] Speaker 4: a chance about going forward and setting up a deal
[36:08] Speaker 4: and a contract, so you can take on a lot
[36:09] Speaker 4: of our work.
[36:10] Speaker 2: Anyway, I send it to him.
[36:11] Speaker 4: We're at hungry Jack's at like a twin servo at
[36:14] Speaker 4: a highway and I'm watching him read the message, and
[36:17] Speaker 4: then he goes outside.
[36:18] Speaker 2: He's on the blower and we're laughing, and they go like,
[36:20] Speaker 2: what's he thinking? What's he thinking?
[36:22] Speaker 4: Little did we know he'd rang his wife and he
[36:25] Speaker 4: was going, how good is this? Like we've got this
[36:27] Speaker 4: big contract. I didn't know how much it was going
[36:29] Speaker 4: to be worth. It was a substantial amount that he
[36:31] Speaker 4: thought he was about to get. He was hyping his
[36:34] Speaker 4: wife up, gone how good is this? Would changing life and
[36:36] Speaker 4: all this shit. So the then he ring. Then he
[36:40] Speaker 4: rings like his main contact at the place, and the
[36:44] Speaker 4: guy goes. He goes, man, I just got the text
[36:45] Speaker 4: from things like how do you want to do this?
[36:47] Speaker 4: And he goes, well, what number did you get it?
[36:48] Speaker 4: Off sends it to the guy. He goes, I don't
[36:51] Speaker 4: recognize this number, but leave it with me. I will
[36:53] Speaker 4: just see who sent you that text. They put it
[36:55] Speaker 4: through the system. It was no one employed by that company.
[37:01] Speaker 4: Comes back in the U and we're all sitting there
[37:02] Speaker 4: about to get to this job site and like Dandy
[37:05] Speaker 4: Nong ages away in Melbourne, and I'm sitting there and
[37:07] Speaker 4: I'm in the middle of the back seat and I'm
[37:09] Speaker 4: looking at him, and he's frustrated. And then via the
[37:12] Speaker 4: bluetooth he rings the number and I'm in the back
[37:16] Speaker 4: seat and my ringer was on and my ringing just
[37:19] Speaker 4: sads going and he goes, I still remember he's driving,
[37:22] Speaker 4: and he goes, he's looking in the rear view mirror
[37:24] Speaker 4: and and I'm just sitting there, just holding my phone,
[37:27] Speaker 4: staring straight at him, and he goes, is that you?
[37:29] Speaker 2: Is that that you?
[37:30] Speaker 4: Is it? You? Little fuck pulls over on the side
[37:33] Speaker 4: of the road, just turns back and just gives me
[37:35] Speaker 4: and Harry a biggert spray. Even turned on Harry, who
[37:38] Speaker 4: he was like his fucking produg and he goes, you
[37:42] Speaker 4: will never play in the NRL because he was supposed
[37:44] Speaker 4: to put a report through to Craig Bellamy on how
[37:46] Speaker 4: we how we went individually, and he was like, belly
[37:50] Speaker 4: A will fucking hear about this, he will hear about
[37:51] Speaker 4: what little fucking smartest.
[37:53] Speaker 2: Is, how shit you've been working.
[37:54] Speaker 4: And then me and Harry were stressing Harry's gone, You've
[37:57] Speaker 4: fucking ruined my career. I'm that sorry, Harry, like they're
[38:02] Speaker 4: still hopefully yeah, thank god. He just I think after
[38:05] Speaker 4: the day or two, I think the apprentice fest up.
[38:07] Speaker 4: So I told him because he didn't have the report
[38:09] Speaker 4: was actually quite flattering to both of us. But like
[38:14] Speaker 4: we would have been, like he probably would have piece, it's.
[38:16] Speaker 1: Got a little bit of respect, Like it's a good get.
[38:19] Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's a good get.
[38:21] Speaker 2: At what point did like, Okay, they got me, They've
[38:24] Speaker 2: gotta be.
[38:25] Speaker 3: Pretty I'll tell you what.
[38:25] Speaker 1: He worked quick, diligent, calling up his wife, calling up.
[38:30] Speaker 3: Working quick. That's when you know I.
[38:36] Speaker 4: Was actually I was stressing for weeks.
[38:40] Speaker 3: When did you live with Abby?
[38:43] Speaker 1: Uh? Yeah we did down there, I think right across
[38:46] Speaker 1: the road from the server at seven eleven. Yeah.
[38:51] Speaker 3: I saw he's in there once.
[38:52] Speaker 1: Yeah, well let's just keep it.
[38:56] Speaker 3: Yeah, just buying some smokes.
[39:00] Speaker 2: Are you still made with Appy?
[39:01] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[39:02] Speaker 3: Still, yeah, very close.
[39:03] Speaker 1: I caught up with him a few weeks ago at
[39:05] Speaker 1: my kid's birthday party, and yeah, just touch base here
[39:10] Speaker 1: and there, played golf here and there.
[39:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, legend one of.
[39:12] Speaker 2: The good blokes, because she's win that.
[39:14] Speaker 4: You are both quite young when you win that Grand Final.
[39:16] Speaker 1: It south together, right, Yeah, Yeah, that's a funny story
[39:19] Speaker 1: though one actually with us because when I was actually
[39:22] Speaker 1: got suspended, it was obviously pretty heartbreaking for Bully and
[39:26] Speaker 1: he was he was guarded, but yeah, he didn't drop
[39:29] Speaker 1: the limb. But Uppy was going to Penrith. He got
[39:31] Speaker 1: signed for I think like a two or three year
[39:33] Speaker 1: deal have at Penrith Fly because he was going real
[39:35] Speaker 1: good at the house and boys loved him at the house.
[39:38] Speaker 1: And I remember he was rolling in for the last
[39:41] Speaker 1: four or five weeks of training, but you could just
[39:43] Speaker 1: tell it he was on a bender. He was he
[39:45] Speaker 1: was walking up and down the Red Fern look going
[39:47] Speaker 1: on the train and he'd be coming back and he'd
[39:49] Speaker 1: be like, dust, what do you.
[39:50] Speaker 3: Do on the weekend? He goes, No, I went out
[39:52] Speaker 3: and with the boys on the weekend. You're good on
[39:54] Speaker 3: your mate.
[39:56] Speaker 1: Anyway, he gets the he gets the car color. Maybe
[39:58] Speaker 1: we're going to need you for the gf these blaken
[40:00] Speaker 1: like I wouldn't say rats, but he's.
[40:03] Speaker 3: Been partying every weekend.
[40:04] Speaker 1: And then he's like, okay, he turned into Superman like
[40:07] Speaker 1: that Grand Final, like everyone goes on notice, but he
[40:10] Speaker 1: fucking played awesome in that game, like if people want
[40:13] Speaker 1: to rewatch it back like I think he was. That
[40:15] Speaker 1: was his first year of grade too, and he come
[40:18] Speaker 1: in and didn't look at the place and he just.
[40:20] Speaker 4: I didn't even I didn't even realize that he'd only
[40:23] Speaker 4: got caught up for the Grand Fire.
[40:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, he got caught up late because I was like, Luke,
[40:26] Speaker 1: I think he got done for a lifting tackle and
[40:28] Speaker 1: Sonny Bill Williams, that's right.
[40:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, and then Sunny.
[40:31] Speaker 1: Bill Williams come out and said, nah, like it wasn't
[40:33] Speaker 1: there was no malice towards it, but obviously got suspended.
[40:36] Speaker 1: And then yeah he got the call up and the
[40:38] Speaker 1: week of the Grand fine, man.
[40:39] Speaker 2: That's heavy.
[40:40] Speaker 4: Yeah, that's heavy, getting suspended for a grand Yeah, it's gotten.
[40:44] Speaker 3: It's got a heart break. That's did you you'll move
[40:48] Speaker 3: to Mainly? Was that through Bob Fulton? Yeah, that was yeah,
[40:51] Speaker 3: through Yeah, the late great Bob. Yeah. Now don't gonna
[40:55] Speaker 3: I'm rely on you're honesty. When I once in the
[40:59] Speaker 3: early nineties negotiated with I was like, yeah, Mane with
[41:03] Speaker 3: the Kangaroo tal coming up next week, and man, look.
[41:08] Speaker 4: If you you know, if you if you.
[41:10] Speaker 3: Play for Manly let's just say that one of the
[41:15] Speaker 3: blokes you're competing against in the six Jersey might have
[41:17] Speaker 3: a bad groin or might have a codding. I didn't
[41:22] Speaker 3: sign with Manly and I didn't get what about like
[41:25] Speaker 3: those It could be very persuasive, very persuasive.
[41:28] Speaker 1: I think that's the only reason I've got the gig
[41:30] Speaker 1: in the New South Wales.
[41:32] Speaker 3: Jersey because I was playing dog shit. I was playing
[41:36] Speaker 3: dog shit.
[41:37] Speaker 1: I remember because when we're signing mate on the top
[41:40] Speaker 1: of the border at the Blues, we can get you
[41:43] Speaker 1: in the Blues. And I was sort of eighteenth man,
[41:45] Speaker 1: but I was like, oh, yeah, maybe this is my
[41:47] Speaker 1: way into the Blues and very persuasive. Man, good fellow,
[41:53] Speaker 1: good man. And then had so many different phone numbers
[41:57] Speaker 1: come up on my phone and it's the same bloke
[42:00] Speaker 1: behind it, multiple phones, multiple phone numbers.
[42:04] Speaker 2: Could even.
[42:06] Speaker 3: There was Journa, there was Jono that was having a
[42:09] Speaker 3: blue at the time with Boseil and he just goes, Mate,
[42:12] Speaker 3: he had just completely rattled him. He'd be going, he said,
[42:16] Speaker 3: he'd be having on the phone, give it to him
[42:19] Speaker 3: and you go hang on a second. Then Bozo would
[42:21] Speaker 3: pick up having Yeah, we're talking talking on the phone
[42:25] Speaker 3: to somebody else. Go mate, anyway, I've got this bloke
[42:27] Speaker 3: on the other on the other phone, hang on a second,
[42:29] Speaker 3: then straight back into him, he said, mate, it was
[42:32] Speaker 3: he said, mate, he learned, he said, mate, don't funk.
[42:34] Speaker 1: With Yeah, I've never met it like a powerful person
[42:37] Speaker 1: like I Sea the power Brokers. Everyone knew it was
[42:41] Speaker 1: Russell Crave. But when I got to me and me
[42:42] Speaker 1: and Bozo was the one running the ship. Yeah, just
[42:46] Speaker 1: how much power and poor that he had within and
[42:48] Speaker 1: a roll with itself?
[42:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, and manly.
[42:51] Speaker 4: Yeah, I wonder if he because when you have you
[42:53] Speaker 4: ever done that prank where you're ring two Chinese restaurants?
[42:57] Speaker 2: Do you know that one?
[42:58] Speaker 3: And then you put it.
[42:59] Speaker 4: You go hang on want to say hang on to
[43:00] Speaker 4: and then you put him on the phone together and
[43:02] Speaker 4: they go what do you want?
[43:03] Speaker 2: And they argue on the phone.
[43:04] Speaker 4: I wonder if did that Mayes?
[43:07] Speaker 3: What about Russell? Mate?
[43:08] Speaker 1: Yeah? No, I wasn't.
[43:11] Speaker 3: I wasn't.
[43:12] Speaker 1: The lucky ones and a lot of big dogs in
[43:15] Speaker 1: the Yeah, there's a lot of big dogs.
[43:16] Speaker 3: I was. I was.
[43:16] Speaker 1: I was a new coming in but yeah, I had
[43:20] Speaker 1: some just normal conversations, but yeah, yeah, not too much.
[43:24] Speaker 3: To do with him, to be honest, a roll and anything.
[43:28] Speaker 1: I got ahead for a radio mate, Did.
[43:31] Speaker 4: You ever go like, what's it called quad biking?
[43:36] Speaker 3: That was?
[43:37] Speaker 1: That was my first season that mainly yeah, I left.
[43:40] Speaker 1: So when when the boys went up and had their
[43:42] Speaker 1: little pre season camp up, there were up in Coffs
[43:45] Speaker 1: as well at the same time. And when I was
[43:46] Speaker 1: coming home, look, he caused me up, what's happened?
[43:51] Speaker 3: Man?
[43:51] Speaker 1: And then he started plying up and then he told
[43:53] Speaker 1: me the whole story about him and Russell Crowe and
[43:55] Speaker 1: then I was like, oh that ship bro. Sorry to
[43:57] Speaker 1: he like, there's anything you need let me know, because yeah,
[44:01] Speaker 1: no worries. And then after that year he I think
[44:04] Speaker 1: he was still there for one year and then Semi
[44:07] Speaker 1: Burgess had his wedding. I forgot where it was, but
[44:10] Speaker 1: Russell Craig got up and spoke, and me and Kiri
[44:12] Speaker 1: were blind. We're playing these silly games through all the boys,
[44:15] Speaker 1: like whoever took you know, the handkerchief and someone he
[44:18] Speaker 1: had to scald the drink, but Luke Key was blind.
[44:20] Speaker 3: It was maggot.
[44:22] Speaker 1: And Russell Craig got up in city speech and then
[44:25] Speaker 1: after he spoke, everyone sort of clapped and he stood up.
[44:27] Speaker 1: He stood up, he kicked.
[44:28] Speaker 3: His chair backwards.
[44:33] Speaker 1: Because he's yeah, yeah, good, good bloke.
[44:38] Speaker 4: Because then he went the Roosters after that he was
[44:40] Speaker 4: playing that good at the Roosters too.
[44:42] Speaker 3: Should have been a lifelong Souse player, yeah, should have
[44:45] Speaker 3: been one grand mate won a Grand final then? How
[44:47] Speaker 3: he won three grand finals? Flu?
[44:49] Speaker 1: Yeah he won one of the bunnies into the trucks.
[44:51] Speaker 3: Yeah man medal. Oh yeah, he's over in Catalana at
[44:56] Speaker 3: the moment. The English Super League, fear to say by
[44:58] Speaker 3: his comments last month and not a big fan, that's
[45:02] Speaker 3: all right.
[45:03] Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently he was getting booed and stuff and people.
[45:07] Speaker 1: That's what I think. I've seen leam night cruising around
[45:09] Speaker 1: that river.
[45:10] Speaker 3: Beach the other day night, across the road yesterday. He's everywhere.
[45:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, he was on the phone.
[45:25] Speaker 3: Maddie here he goes. I look at it, man, is
[45:30] Speaker 3: he is she really going out with him?
[45:34] Speaker 2: Nies? I reckon, I rate ninety.
[45:36] Speaker 4: Is a good looking fella, of course, and he's in
[45:37] Speaker 4: a like he's got a good he's always had.
[45:41] Speaker 1: But you know he's a confident person, real confident.
[45:45] Speaker 4: He's got a quirky very.
[45:47] Speaker 1: Quirky on the side another day.
[45:52] Speaker 4: Of all the clubs you've played that, actually, let's go
[45:54] Speaker 4: to Manly for a sec because you had such a good,
[45:57] Speaker 4: such a good crewd Mound. You're still mates with a
[45:59] Speaker 4: lot of the boys there, Chairs and all those lads
[46:02] Speaker 4: of all the clubs excluding Eels, because you're there. Now,
[46:06] Speaker 4: what do what do you have your fondest memories from?
[46:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, many, Mammy, He's probably I've spent I think seven
[46:12] Speaker 1: to eight years here, so yeah, I grew some good
[46:17] Speaker 1: relationships with the boys, some good nights, some some fun times.
[46:22] Speaker 1: But forty cents I learned a lot of Chairs and
[46:27] Speaker 1: Turbo one hundred percent. Those two were probably the two
[46:31] Speaker 1: football IQ guys that played with in a sense of
[46:36] Speaker 1: knowing the game and what cues. But as good as
[46:40] Speaker 1: they are on the field, off the field, yeah they
[46:43] Speaker 1: go pretty good. They go pretty hard as well.
[46:45] Speaker 4: They're pretty well the years that you were there, I
[46:50] Speaker 4: think it was the next level of like work hard,
[46:53] Speaker 4: play hard, like the.
[46:54] Speaker 3: Boys would like.
[46:55] Speaker 4: When I was at Manly it was a little bit less,
[46:57] Speaker 4: sort of post COVID. I think everyone kind of slowed
[47:00] Speaker 4: right out and at the time Turbo had stopped really
[47:02] Speaker 4: drinking because.
[47:03] Speaker 1: You're talking about Yeah, okay, so when I was at
[47:05] Speaker 1: the house, it was very professional, like I was strict,
[47:09] Speaker 1: as I wouldn't say strict, but I was like on
[47:11] Speaker 1: the straight and narrow, like Madge poured us in the
[47:13] Speaker 1: line pretty quick and no drinking here, no drinking.
[47:15] Speaker 3: I've got the meaning.
[47:16] Speaker 1: I turned into a pi sead, full blown pie.
[47:18] Speaker 3: Yeah I was.
[47:19] Speaker 1: I think it was all good spirits.
[47:22] Speaker 3: No one's got in trouble by training.
[47:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so well, yeah, it was the old score
[47:27] Speaker 1: of just come in. If you get a party, you
[47:29] Speaker 1: get to train hard. And yeah, that's what's.
[47:33] Speaker 4: It come from that they come from that culture of
[47:36] Speaker 4: that premiership winning side like the Stewart brothers Chuck who
[47:40] Speaker 4: they all ripped in so hard on the field, and
[47:43] Speaker 4: then they got connected away from it by having drink ups.
[47:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, like it was just the way I understand. I
[47:48] Speaker 3: understand health wise. But what you find is people a
[47:53] Speaker 3: lot of times just because the team might have bit
[47:54] Speaker 3: of drinking culture and have a great time, it doesn't
[47:56] Speaker 3: mean they're off the rails. What it is a lot
[47:58] Speaker 3: of times is people who are off the rails. Oftentimes
[48:03] Speaker 3: we'll get on the booze a lot of times, but
[48:05] Speaker 3: a lot of times it's a social thing. If you
[48:08] Speaker 3: can continually square the ledger, then you know, within reason, Yeah,
[48:13] Speaker 3: it's okay with reason. Yeah, houses we're talking about appy
[48:22] Speaker 3: o night, we're talking about Fletcher. I will go, mate,
[48:25] Speaker 3: do you have a beer? And that then he goes
[48:27] Speaker 3: an't any the boys do? After game? It was happy happy,
[48:32] Speaker 3: So yeah, he switched real quick.
[48:34] Speaker 1: He used to be one of the looser ones. Now
[48:37] Speaker 1: he's switched. But that's my favorite top of bees. After
[48:39] Speaker 1: the game and just with the boys, like and all
[48:42] Speaker 1: the young all the young fellows, they go straight to
[48:44] Speaker 1: the get off your fucking phone mate, Yes, let's go
[48:47] Speaker 1: get a beer. If you don't want to drink, get
[48:49] Speaker 1: a protein shake, just just sit around, talk about it.
[48:52] Speaker 3: No rush. It's just that's the greatest time.
[48:56] Speaker 4: That's the best of them because these days, a lot
[48:58] Speaker 4: of the a lot of the young blos these days,
[49:00] Speaker 4: it's a culture shift. And again it's like they don't
[49:03] Speaker 4: really drink, like they'll get together over coffee and that's
[49:06] Speaker 4: how they or other stuff that they're into. But the
[49:09] Speaker 4: new generation of young guys are kind of very professional,
[49:12] Speaker 4: which is sick.
[49:14] Speaker 3: Yeah, we're getting towards the end of it, I'll just
[49:17] Speaker 3: say this, if I'll ask you this, let's remove rosy.
[49:23] Speaker 3: If you could pre paramount, if we had to pick
[49:26] Speaker 3: an all star team in around you, who would you
[49:29] Speaker 3: pick as your coach? Which coach understood you the most
[49:32] Speaker 3: and got the best out of you?
[49:35] Speaker 1: Only by a coach that I've had? Yeah, yeah, okay,
[49:40] Speaker 1: who understood me? I think Madge gave me he believed
[49:45] Speaker 1: in me. I wouldn't probably the most, but yeah, he's
[49:49] Speaker 1: the one that sort of showed me the way how
[49:50] Speaker 1: to be a first grader, and he believed in me
[49:53] Speaker 1: a lot onder He whipped me in mine real quick
[49:56] Speaker 1: because I know my mentality and my personas. If you
[50:00] Speaker 1: give me too much, I'll take an extra mile. Where
[50:04] Speaker 1: I thought I was going all right when I first
[50:05] Speaker 1: got into grade, then he pulled me back in. He goes,
[50:08] Speaker 1: you need to fix this, that and this, and I
[50:11] Speaker 1: was like okay, but it sort of kept me grounded.
[50:13] Speaker 1: So I think if I was a Paramatta, people might
[50:17] Speaker 1: say his ways of training hard and stuff that was
[50:20] Speaker 1: definitely what I needed at that time. Benny young Feller
[50:23] Speaker 1: watching you know, guys like g I semi doing all
[50:26] Speaker 1: the stuff that what we had to do. You sort
[50:29] Speaker 1: of grew the respect of like, okay, not everyone's the same,
[50:33] Speaker 1: but now looking at being thirty year old, now I'm
[50:36] Speaker 1: gonna fuck that. My body couldn't hold on.
[50:40] Speaker 3: So that all starts. Who's your who's your captain is
[50:44] Speaker 3: the same? Yes?
[50:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, Sam, you would have to be the captain?
[50:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeap, okay, who's your who's your key man? Like
[50:51] Speaker 3: you know when when the game's on the line, you
[50:53] Speaker 3: got guys like Chairs and everyone guys should play with
[50:57] Speaker 3: who's that who's that bloke you look to?
[51:00] Speaker 1: I think game on the line, I want Chess in
[51:02] Speaker 1: my team.
[51:02] Speaker 3: He just gets it done.
[51:04] Speaker 1: And you know what I loved about Chairs was he
[51:07] Speaker 1: didn't care about where he was ending up and the
[51:10] Speaker 1: end of sets he goes, I'll find my best kick.
[51:13] Speaker 1: But game on the line, people don't want the ball
[51:16] Speaker 1: in the hens.
[51:16] Speaker 3: Chairs is the one that.
[51:21] Speaker 4: It is interesting actually say that about Chans because so
[51:23] Speaker 4: many like let him listen, so so many.
[51:25] Speaker 2: Halfbacks that that play before the last.
[51:27] Speaker 4: Tackle, they want to end in a spot where it's
[51:29] Speaker 4: the easiest kick for them. Chess are so good. It
[51:32] Speaker 4: just he does whatever, and then when it's fifth tackle,
[51:34] Speaker 4: wherever he ends up, he just does. He just gets
[51:37] Speaker 4: the job done wherever he is.
[51:38] Speaker 1: Well, when I was at the Warriors, it was always
[51:41] Speaker 1: last place set up and like, no, I don't play
[51:43] Speaker 1: the queue, play that, and I was like, fuck no,
[51:47] Speaker 1: if you know not, just play football. But if you
[51:50] Speaker 1: see the queue and you play it, then it takes
[51:53] Speaker 1: away the imagination of the player.
[51:55] Speaker 3: And that's what I hated.
[51:56] Speaker 1: I hated the most about that, not just that you
[52:00] Speaker 1: know at the Warriors, but certain coaches will coach that
[52:03] Speaker 1: out of you.
[52:03] Speaker 3: Yep.
[52:04] Speaker 1: And I think when I first got into grade it
[52:07] Speaker 1: was sort of similar like that, because back in twenty
[52:09] Speaker 1: thirteen when I first debute, it was, you know, get
[52:12] Speaker 1: through your set kicklong, get through your set kicklong, we'll
[52:14] Speaker 1: get a pedalty somewhere and we'll be able to strike
[52:17] Speaker 1: a set together. But with Chas and Turbot, it was
[52:20] Speaker 1: always like if it's on, but on, and we're going
[52:24] Speaker 1: to play and we're just going to take. And then
[52:25] Speaker 1: chairs always spoke about it goes I'm never not going
[52:27] Speaker 1: to be told not to take something I don't see
[52:30] Speaker 1: to believe it, yeah, yeah, And I love that.
[52:32] Speaker 3: I love that.
[52:33] Speaker 1: And then the way we get to paramount.
[52:35] Speaker 3: What I love about you know, Brownie.
[52:37] Speaker 1: And Rosy is Brownie takes care of the attack of
[52:40] Speaker 1: Rosie is like use your footy brain. And then Brownie's like,
[52:44] Speaker 1: I'm never not going to tell you not to take something.
[52:45] Speaker 1: If you see something, go do it.
[52:47] Speaker 3: That's it.
[52:47] Speaker 1: Yeah, and I love it.
[52:48] Speaker 3: Blokes like you win the game fromm and the least
[52:50] Speaker 3: the defense can do is if you make an error
[52:53] Speaker 3: or is it point you see something and it ends
[52:55] Speaker 3: up being a poor option and they come up with it. Well,
[52:57] Speaker 3: what they can do for you is defend the err
[52:59] Speaker 3: yea per but on one side has got to help
[53:01] Speaker 3: out the Dylan. Mate, it's been it's been fantastic to
[53:05] Speaker 3: catch up again. May congratulations on the past season. Appreciate
[53:08] Speaker 3: it's been fantastic.
[53:09] Speaker 2: Any troops coming up?
[53:11] Speaker 1: Nah, pick Ken Island? No troops, I don't know. Yeah,
[53:16] Speaker 1: I've gotta I got to get back on the blow
[53:18] Speaker 1: ye who's keen.
[53:20] Speaker 2: The bad phone?
[53:23] Speaker 3: Hopefully in your time, PARAMOUNTA, you can win that first
[53:26] Speaker 3: compstance eighty six.
[53:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be awesome.
[53:28] Speaker 3: Thank you.
[53:29] Speaker 1: She's guys
