[0:36] Speaker 3: I'm not really such a new lover, but I just

[0:42] Speaker 3: has been nice.
[0:43] Speaker 1: It's nice.
[0:43] Speaker 2: It's good. It's good that you see you don't have
[0:45] Speaker 2: to sneak in when Trish goes away.

[0:57] Speaker 3: is going to be tuning in.
[0:59] Speaker 2: Hang on a second, because our the main commercial real
[1:01] Speaker 2: estate we usually plug on this as Brad Parker. Yeah
[1:05] Speaker 2: you are you are you a competitor of Brad.
[1:09] Speaker 3: Look we are, but I would say in no time
[1:12] Speaker 3: soon that Brad will be on.
[1:13] Speaker 1: Board with us. He's still looking for his first sales.
[1:17] Speaker 1: This isn't going to air, is it. How you been Marty? Yeah, terrific,
[1:23] Speaker 1: Maddy Yeah yeah, a lot of people know. We've had
[1:26] Speaker 1: plenty of solid drinks here and down at your joint.
[1:29] Speaker 1: Always something going on there is. Yeah, I think it was.
[1:33] Speaker 3: I think it was COVID that really launched us, and
[1:36] Speaker 3: it hasn't really taken a foot.
[1:38] Speaker 1: Off since as I subsided.
[1:40] Speaker 3: No, it's it's been good. It's a very social neighborhood,
[1:44] Speaker 3: which can be dangerous if you've.
[1:45] Speaker 2: Got to get remarried. Marty, when does dad sort of
[1:48] Speaker 2: sit I suppose in the groomsman.
[1:51] Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he'd be the one, he'd be the one
[1:54] Speaker 3: taking the veils.
[1:59] Speaker 1: Guys.
[2:00] Speaker 2: Oh, well played, well Matthew. You've just come back from
[2:03] Speaker 2: You've had quite an eventful couple of weeks. You're at
[2:05] Speaker 2: Port McCrary, you're at Canberra.
[2:07] Speaker 1: Go I tell you a story about Port McQuary. This
[2:10] Speaker 1: will blow your socks off. So I arrived at Port McQuary.
[2:14] Speaker 1: I've got a speaking gig that night cash panthers. Mate,
[2:18] Speaker 1: I pay the taxes, roads and rubbish and hospitals. Mate,
[2:21] Speaker 1: do your bit. So went in there and I've got
[2:24] Speaker 1: about three hours. Yeah, I thought made, I'll duck down
[2:27] Speaker 1: to the Port McQuary Hotel.
[2:28] Speaker 2: Good joint.
[2:29] Speaker 1: So I'm you down to Port mcarry Hotel. I went there,
[2:31] Speaker 1: very quite for a Saturday afternoon, very very quiet. Walking
[2:34] Speaker 1: to the sports bar, there's one person in the sports
[2:36] Speaker 1: bar and his name was Andrew Johns.
[2:40] Speaker 4: Oh what the hell?
[2:41] Speaker 1: He went, looked at me and went what are you
[2:44] Speaker 1: doing here? And I went what are you doing here?
[2:47] Speaker 1: And he said no, I'm here for the races tomorrow.
[2:49] Speaker 1: I said, well, I've got a speaking gig and we
[2:52] Speaker 1: sat down, had a few beers, had a few beers
[2:54] Speaker 1: after the unbelievable.
[2:57] Speaker 2: That's one of the chances, aren't.
[2:58] Speaker 1: I'd say probably two millionto one.
[3:01] Speaker 3: It's like Bogart of all the lousy giants and all
[3:03] Speaker 3: the all the gin joints in all.
[3:04] Speaker 1: The world, is dear Andrew. You know the good thing
[3:09] Speaker 1: about Joey?
[3:10] Speaker 4: What kind of yeah, what kind of mood was he in?
[3:13] Speaker 1: Look, it was a pretty good mood. But as we know,
[3:15] Speaker 1: Joey is not so much of a people person. Oh what?
[3:18] Speaker 1: And people are coming up and you know, good make
[3:20] Speaker 1: you know. One thing I really like about country people
[3:23] Speaker 1: out there is mate, the good old fashioned conversation. I'll
[3:27] Speaker 1: come up and the bloke come up. This bloke come
[3:29] Speaker 1: up and goes, oh, here we go, Who's who? And
[3:33] Speaker 1: Joey's which one? He reckons a handsome one? And I said,
[3:38] Speaker 1: well it's got to be me. He said yeah, I agree,
[3:41] Speaker 1: and then stood there this bloke. There was just an
[3:44] Speaker 1: awkward pause for about and he goes, now you go on, Joey.
[3:49] Speaker 1: Joe goes, yeah, mate, you're pretty good. At that point,
[3:51] Speaker 1: Marty I realized why I don't go to pubs and
[3:54] Speaker 1: that with Joey, because I have to work doubly hard
[3:56] Speaker 1: hard work. So I just said, look, I'm going to
[3:58] Speaker 1: finish this beer, old Joey, I'll see you after the
[4:00] Speaker 1: show at night, and moses out of there. But he
[4:02] Speaker 1: was in good form.
[4:03] Speaker 2: Do you link back up?
[4:05] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[4:05] Speaker 1: Yeah, and he for about twenty minutes.
[4:07] Speaker 3: But he was in good spirits on Christmas Day too.
[4:09] Speaker 3: When I popped in. It wasn't he Oh yeah, yeah,
[4:12] Speaker 3: that was.
[4:12] Speaker 2: The true He what that's as good as murder as
[4:14] Speaker 2: I've ever seen him in He.
[4:16] Speaker 1: Was going, this is the best day I've ever had, thought,
[4:18] Speaker 1: what a fucking boring life.
[4:20] Speaker 5: Well, it was having a good day until we re
[4:22] Speaker 5: brought the We didn't get the second batch of prawns
[4:24] Speaker 5: and apparently waited in line for forty minutes and then
[4:26] Speaker 5: he pretty much lost his ship again.
[4:27] Speaker 1: He should have seen him, Mary. So he's bought prawns right,
[4:30] Speaker 1: and he has he has he has these infatuations. You know,
[4:34] Speaker 1: he's a CD. So he's gone, mate, brought prawns. Fantastic.
[4:39] Speaker 1: Then it's where the prawns. Someone's got Where the pawns are?
[4:42] Speaker 1: The prawns in the fridge, pawns and the fridge next me.
[4:44] Speaker 1: He gets them out right and bugging me. He starts
[4:46] Speaker 1: peeling him and I'm going make a look at this, like,
[4:49] Speaker 1: you know, he's finally grown up. His peel on the
[4:51] Speaker 1: praws and everyone nah peel him just for him, And.
[4:53] Speaker 3: He peeled half a kilo on the rest of the
[4:57] Speaker 3: left of you then the whole anymore.
[5:01] Speaker 2: Well, we weren't. Me and Jack are in New Zealand.
[5:03] Speaker 2: Over the weekend party, Marty, we went to our ESG
[5:06] Speaker 2: ball team played their first game, the coaching one from one.
[5:10] Speaker 1: But the Warriors in New Zealand. Yeah that's a solid.
[5:12] Speaker 3: Hey, that's a raid trip.
[5:13] Speaker 2: I heard unheard of.
[5:15] Speaker 4: Yeah with Monty Bethan, the sg baard coach before the game, gup.
[5:19] Speaker 2: Shout out, loves the potty good man, Monty.
[5:21] Speaker 1: Tell you what you've seen him? Duke No seen him fight?
[5:25] Speaker 1: Scary really, I think he's still been a baknuckle fighting
[5:28] Speaker 1: in New Zealand. If you're fighting, if you don't beantnuckle
[5:30] Speaker 1: fighting in New Zealand, yeah, it's fair to say you
[5:33] Speaker 1: can hold you.
[5:33] Speaker 3: Yeah my word.
[5:35] Speaker 2: So you know what was annoying? So the plane ride
[5:37] Speaker 2: or not annoying, but the plane ride home, like obviously
[5:40] Speaker 2: pretty mad because the boys have just won. The nine
[5:42] Speaker 2: year olds just won their first game. But they start
[5:45] Speaker 2: to get What I found annoying was because I'm twenty six,
[5:48] Speaker 2: but I feel like I've probably on par with those kids,
[5:51] Speaker 2: like as in terms of age.
[5:52] Speaker 4: Jack, you want to comment, Yeah, yeah, definitely, yeah, inters.
[5:55] Speaker 6: So I sort of it's good because they also listened
[5:57] Speaker 6: to you too, obviously as they got respect from me because
[5:59] Speaker 6: they've seen me play over period of five and like
[6:02] Speaker 6: they're kind of starstruck, but they also see me as
[6:04] Speaker 6: a friend, and.
[6:06] Speaker 2: I was wasn't a joke. And I'm sitting there and
[6:10] Speaker 2: I'm playing this NFL game I got on my phone.
[6:12] Speaker 2: It's like an animated game, and I'm just sort of
[6:14] Speaker 2: playing it and playing it, and this I see, like
[6:17] Speaker 2: the center for the team. His name is Henry. Henry's
[6:20] Speaker 2: like watching me from the all over and I look
[6:22] Speaker 2: at him and he looks at me, and he takes
[6:23] Speaker 2: his headphones off and he singles me to take my
[6:25] Speaker 2: headphones off. And he goes, Brah, you're pushing thirty eight,
[6:30] Speaker 2: And I was like, what do you mean. He goes,
[6:31] Speaker 2: you're pushing thirty probably a bit old to be playing
[6:33] Speaker 2: video games.
[6:33] Speaker 1: Yeah, baby, spot on, I was going to say the
[6:35] Speaker 1: same thing. He's on the plane in the way, playing
[6:38] Speaker 1: the way.
[6:39] Speaker 3: Can I tell you quickly about my first trip home
[6:42] Speaker 3: on a plane from New Zealand.
[6:43] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[6:44] Speaker 3: So I was over there on a rugby tour nine
[6:47] Speaker 3: eight two and we'd been thumped in every match anyhow,
[6:53] Speaker 3: but we'd had a very memorable tour. And I get
[6:57] Speaker 3: on the plane to come home and Judy free and
[6:59] Speaker 3: those was a big deal. I was eighteen, so I
[7:02] Speaker 3: bought about the cream Bemont, which was my.
[7:06] Speaker 1: Class.
[7:08] Speaker 3: The plane got held up for two hours, so I
[7:11] Speaker 3: thought I drank it.
[7:12] Speaker 1: So this is at five point thirty in the morning.
[7:16] Speaker 3: After a disastrous rugby to her, so I was almost
[7:19] Speaker 3: noncompas getting on the plane.
[7:21] Speaker 2: How old are you?
[7:21] Speaker 1: Aiden?
[7:22] Speaker 3: And anyway, I've sort of slumped forward and then sometime
[7:26] Speaker 3: later I've waken up and I thought, oh, they brought
[7:28] Speaker 3: me a face washer and a rose to freshen up.
[7:31] Speaker 3: So I've picked up the face washer to give him
[7:33] Speaker 3: a face a wipe, and it started to burn my hands,
[7:35] Speaker 3: so I just hoiked it and it flew across the
[7:37] Speaker 3: aisle and hit a woman in the head. But it
[7:39] Speaker 3: wasn't a face washer, it was an omelet. So I
[7:44] Speaker 3: was being from Furing with New South Wales rugby Union
[7:47] Speaker 3: for four years after that, so that's why I never
[7:50] Speaker 3: made it for Yeah, that's actually pretty. And by the way,
[7:53] Speaker 3: the rose was a hot grilled tomato. Yeah, whats it go.
[7:58] Speaker 2: With Judy Free? Now, Like why is it not like
[8:01] Speaker 2: a cool thing anyway?
[8:02] Speaker 3: Because Blakes used to do that.
[8:05] Speaker 2: But also like you, I swear it used to be
[8:07] Speaker 2: way more like impressive into way cheaper and stuff.
[8:11] Speaker 5: I believe look at the prices in the week and
[8:12] Speaker 5: I think the tariff's effected. I believe Trump's tariffs. Yeah,
[8:17] Speaker 5: I think he's taken. It's getting that ten percents creeping
[8:19] Speaker 5: in closer and closer by.
[8:21] Speaker 1: Now, Marty, for people giving back around on you, you
[8:24] Speaker 1: are you are a how could I say a savant
[8:27] Speaker 1: all things Merseyside. You're a huge Saint Helen's fan, massive
[8:31] Speaker 1: Liverpool fan. Venture over that. Oftentimes we get, you know,
[8:34] Speaker 1: we get people from Merseyside that you joint down there.
[8:37] Speaker 3: Yep, yeah, no that that love affairs started about forty
[8:42] Speaker 3: years ago when I turned up over in the North
[8:45] Speaker 3: of England with a backpack on and bumped into a
[8:48] Speaker 3: bunch of lads up in Saint Helen's. And for the
[8:51] Speaker 3: next forty years we've been backwards and forwards from the
[8:53] Speaker 3: North of England and vice versa.
[8:56] Speaker 1: The first time you went to Europe, funny strue about you.
[8:58] Speaker 1: Someone bet you that you shave half your beard.
[9:03] Speaker 3: Well, I'm rather her suite, I suppose, and I could
[9:08] Speaker 3: grow a good beard. And I hadn't had a shave
[9:10] Speaker 3: for six months, and I went into a bar in
[9:12] Speaker 3: Amsterdam and about three o'clock in the morning. The bloker's
[9:16] Speaker 3: running the bar came up to me. I was surrounded
[9:19] Speaker 3: by a bevy of women at the time, and he said,
[9:23] Speaker 3: that's the best beard I've ever seen. He said, I'll
[9:25] Speaker 3: give you a hundred guilders if you shave it off.
[9:28] Speaker 3: And to a struggling backpacker, one hundred guilders was a
[9:30] Speaker 3: lot of brass, you know. So I said, yep, let's
[9:33] Speaker 3: do it. So we went and got the shaving kit.
[9:36] Speaker 3: Someone offered they got a coat, a throat. What do
[9:40] Speaker 3: I call them?
[9:40] Speaker 1: Oh yeah, throat? Yeah, yeah, the blade.
[9:45] Speaker 3: Anyway, and I said stop just and I said, how
[9:47] Speaker 3: about your shave half of it off? And I come
[9:51] Speaker 3: back here in a month's time was still half a beard.
[9:53] Speaker 3: And this isn't ned kelly. It's down to my navel,
[9:55] Speaker 3: right so and I said, and I said, if we
[9:58] Speaker 3: do that, it's two hundred guilders and two of your
[10:00] Speaker 3: bottle finest bottles of champagne. And he said you're on.
[10:04] Speaker 3: So he shaved half the beard off. I looked like
[10:07] Speaker 3: some caught it real spazyf yeah, yeah yeah. And I
[10:11] Speaker 3: went round. I went round Norway and scanned the Nava
[10:14] Speaker 3: for the next month with half a beer look like this,
[10:18] Speaker 3: and Kat went back into the bar a month later collected, yeah, collected. Yeah.
[10:28] Speaker 3: Well I went from having that bevy of girls to
[10:30] Speaker 3: not having one come near me for the next month.
[10:33] Speaker 3: Lots of weird looks, mate, lots of people coming up. Actually,
[10:35] Speaker 3: people would take pity. They think it was like an
[10:37] Speaker 3: elephant and look, you know, it had never been done
[10:40] Speaker 3: before and it hasn't caught on either.
[10:42] Speaker 1: I don't think it's been done since.
[10:44] Speaker 3: So yeah, it was I think I just thought were weird,
[10:48] Speaker 3: unfortunate cat.
[10:49] Speaker 1: When I was in Canberra last night we had to
[10:52] Speaker 1: go down once once a year, we go down with
[10:54] Speaker 1: Fox Sports.
[10:54] Speaker 3: You sound a bit dusty, little bit.
[10:57] Speaker 1: Marty Well picked, great pick, Marty, I have outstanding. So
[11:01] Speaker 1: we got there last night and I thought, you know,
[11:03] Speaker 1: it wasn't you know, you're just somebody's not feeling It
[11:05] Speaker 1: wasn't really the mood for a beer. And then mate,
[11:07] Speaker 1: a lot of the blokes are there, say and all
[11:10] Speaker 1: of a sudden, way you go. So mate, I was
[11:12] Speaker 1: sitting there last night and I was thinking, this is
[11:14] Speaker 1: exactly your scene. So there's the boss, Steve Crawley there,
[11:18] Speaker 1: Dave Warner, Michael Hussey, Craig lownds and we're just telling stories.
[11:23] Speaker 1: And I said, runner, boys, let's go around. Just tell
[11:27] Speaker 1: me who the best bloke you've ever played with in
[11:30] Speaker 1: your sport and give me a story. They're going around.
[11:32] Speaker 1: Michael Hussey told a story on warning, which mate, it
[11:36] Speaker 1: was amazing. I was telling the boys about this mode.
[11:39] Speaker 1: So he goes. He said, they're in they're playing a
[11:41] Speaker 1: trianger and he said, they've got one of the troll
[11:43] Speaker 1: Lincoln players who's on a roll. I can't get him out.
[11:46] Speaker 1: Warney calls for the ball, soays right out and you
[11:48] Speaker 1: go grabs my last see and he says, what's this?
[11:52] Speaker 1: He said, I'm going to bowl him a leg break.
[11:54] Speaker 1: He said, I'm going to bowl him a top spinner,
[11:57] Speaker 1: going to bowl him a wrongin and he said, I'm
[11:59] Speaker 1: going to bowl him so he's ses them all coming
[12:00] Speaker 1: right and then I'm going to boil him are wide
[12:02] Speaker 1: to keep him all strike and him another wide and
[12:04] Speaker 1: then to get him with the flipper. And he said,
[12:07] Speaker 1: did it? Second ball, third ball, toppy wide wide and
[12:13] Speaker 1: then he winked at me and went flipper got him,
[12:16] Speaker 1: took the middle stump out in that amazed he said, mate,
[12:19] Speaker 1: he was just he said, just a genius. He said
[12:21] Speaker 1: when he bowled. I said, I heard Alan Borders that
[12:24] Speaker 1: when he first time boarder ever saw Warn bowl, he
[12:27] Speaker 1: said he could hear the ball spinning. He said, you
[12:31] Speaker 1: could hear ten meters away.
[12:33] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, mate freak.
[12:37] Speaker 1: And who was the other lounges Craig Lounce and Davey Warner?
[12:42] Speaker 3: Does do they have best ofs as well?
[12:45] Speaker 1: Or did? It was one am? But if someone leaves
[12:50] Speaker 1: with Warning? What do you back that up? John's story?
[12:54] Speaker 4: Did you actually?
[12:54] Speaker 1: Yeah?
[12:55] Speaker 2: Did you tell the Joey story?
[12:56] Speaker 1: I tell a Joey story. But when he punched his
[12:57] Speaker 1: lung in the Grand Final.
[12:59] Speaker 2: They wouldn't have heard that before.
[13:01] Speaker 1: Well, they've heard it a few times off Joey, but
[13:02] Speaker 1: not from the King. It gets better all the time.
[13:06] Speaker 2: A fun factor Herd the other day. Obviously, you guys
[13:09] Speaker 2: know the movie Dumb and Dumber, So you know because
[13:12] Speaker 2: I love those little facts around, like what was ad
[13:14] Speaker 2: libbed and what wasn't you know the scene where he's
[13:16] Speaker 2: in the he's in the bar and he's waiting for
[13:19] Speaker 2: Mary Swanson to come and meet for the day, and
[13:22] Speaker 2: the female cop is in there with him, and she's
[13:26] Speaker 2: like quizzing him sort of, and then he gets up
[13:28] Speaker 2: to leave to go because he thinks he gets the
[13:32] Speaker 2: time wrong for Mary Swanson. She's like, why would she
[13:35] Speaker 2: come at six am? Must be six pm?
[13:37] Speaker 1: And he's like, of course.
[13:38] Speaker 2: And then he's walking out and as he's walking out
[13:41] Speaker 2: of the bar, there's a newspaper article on the set
[13:44] Speaker 2: that they were filming and it says it was a
[13:46] Speaker 2: frame of Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. And he
[13:50] Speaker 2: looks at it and apparently it wasn't even in the script.
[13:52] Speaker 2: He just looks at it Jim Carrey and goes, well,
[13:56] Speaker 2: I'll be damned, and then walks out of who walked
[13:59] Speaker 2: on the Moon?
[14:03] Speaker 1: That was a Bill Murray rule the Fairly Brothers. They
[14:05] Speaker 1: had Bill Murray in several movies. Used to say, when
[14:09] Speaker 1: you think the scenes ended, keep it rolling, He'll left
[14:12] Speaker 1: something else coming after it.
[14:13] Speaker 2: Keep her bloody rolling. Did anyone else have anything from
[14:15] Speaker 2: their week?
[14:16] Speaker 4: My stuff was purely around Ugby League.
[14:18] Speaker 5: I was skinning to have a chat about the pain
[14:20] Speaker 5: House situation, because didn't that didn't that catch everyone off
[14:23] Speaker 5: off guard?
[14:24] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[14:25] Speaker 2: That was weird.
[14:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's enormous. And I mean, the tail is
[14:29] Speaker 3: just all the better for Wayne having pulled it off.
[14:33] Speaker 2: Like if anyone I've actually got a theory on it.
[14:37] Speaker 5: Here we are like this that hats out because I've
[14:40] Speaker 5: got a couple of theories down into us. I'm thinking
[14:42] Speaker 5: from a player agent perspective. If you're Pain's manager, now
[14:47] Speaker 5: you're bargaining ship which was R three sixties folded and
[14:51] Speaker 5: now you've bargained, you're trying to get another twelve months
[14:53] Speaker 5: from Brisbane and.
[14:54] Speaker 4: Their low bulger. Which is what of the reports are
[14:56] Speaker 4: coming out? What if this is a tactic. Now there's
[15:00] Speaker 4: a ten day cooling off period today which is Friday.
[15:03] Speaker 5: When it comes out, it's going to be about five
[15:05] Speaker 5: days left on the cooling off period. Is this a
[15:08] Speaker 5: strategy by the manager to make Brisbane panic and throw
[15:12] Speaker 5: a shitload of.
[15:13] Speaker 1: Cash at him.
[15:16] Speaker 2: Mark, I think they've got a I heard I think
[15:20] Speaker 2: the Moley the Moles reporting five year, five year deal
[15:24] Speaker 2: that Broncos are starting to cook up to counter off.
[15:26] Speaker 5: Yeah, Jack, I reckon to like the fact that saus
[15:31] Speaker 5: was so quick to put it out in the media
[15:33] Speaker 5: that it was lodged not accepted yet by the NRL.
[15:36] Speaker 5: In that cooling off period sous are probably using it
[15:39] Speaker 5: as a bit of a you know, pr tactic to
[15:41] Speaker 5: force him into accepting the deal so he doesn't get hate.
[15:44] Speaker 5: But Pain strikes me as the type of dude that
[15:46] Speaker 5: just wouldn't give a ship, you know what I mean,
[15:48] Speaker 5: he wouldn't care about the backlash.
[15:50] Speaker 1: You know what if it make like seriously like he's
[15:53] Speaker 1: he's more impressive off the field than on when you
[15:57] Speaker 1: look at what that what he's what, He's basically raising
[16:01] Speaker 1: a family. He's got his own kids, he's got you know,
[16:04] Speaker 1: like and his brothers. It's just he's just remarked.
[16:08] Speaker 2: Where do you reckon this? Where does it? You guys
[16:11] Speaker 2: would have lived to see a lot of big signings,
[16:13] Speaker 2: particularly like with people signed with opposition signings. Where does
[16:16] Speaker 2: painhass to the Rabbits? Because it come completely out of
[16:19] Speaker 2: left field? Where does that sit in the greatest signings
[16:21] Speaker 2: of all time?
[16:22] Speaker 3: But bose the Roosters after the seventy six Grand Final.
[16:27] Speaker 1: Pack around but Ronnie Kirk to Ronnie to the Roosters. Yeah,
[16:32] Speaker 1: I mean when when g when Greg English went to
[16:34] Speaker 1: South that salary cap force. Yeah, Israel fall when Israel
[16:40] Speaker 1: left Melbourne to go to the Broncos was big, but
[16:43] Speaker 1: not as big as this.
[16:44] Speaker 2: Yeah, it's I mean Cooper Kronk to the Roosters, that
[16:48] Speaker 2: was that's an under restimate.
[16:49] Speaker 3: Well, hey, Cherry going to the Roosters like fifteen years
[16:54] Speaker 3: club legend, like who when he announced that that was
[16:59] Speaker 3: the biggest point ever.
[17:01] Speaker 1: Laso to the Broncos from Canberra was a really big
[17:04] Speaker 1: one at the time. And you look at like I
[17:06] Speaker 1: was about to say with Cooper, like if you had
[17:09] Speaker 1: that is probably one of the most astute signings of
[17:12] Speaker 1: all time. Cooper wins competition at El Melbourne, then goes
[17:17] Speaker 1: to the Roosters and goes back to back at the Roosters.
[17:20] Speaker 1: That's phenomenal. And I mean Lazzo was in signing Laso.
[17:23] Speaker 1: They'd gone, they'd gone back to back eighty nine to
[17:27] Speaker 1: ninety the Raiders ninety one, they get Boat in the
[17:31] Speaker 1: Grand Final. Then he then Wayne takes him to Brisbane
[17:34] Speaker 1: and they go they go back to back ninety two,
[17:37] Speaker 1: ninety three. Unbelievable.
[17:38] Speaker 5: Even I was at sousmhen Latrel. That was the second
[17:41] Speaker 5: year I was at Sousman the trail that signed the
[17:43] Speaker 5: front and that was a huge offseason. Remember that offseason
[17:45] Speaker 5: basically he was I think you might have had to
[17:47] Speaker 5: have another year at the Roosters and then there was
[17:49] Speaker 5: some contract situation happening and when he was signed, that
[17:52] Speaker 5: was a bombshell for the whole club.
[17:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a big one. Where where does this
[17:56] Speaker 2: drackon for South Sydney twenty twenty seven because they got
[17:59] Speaker 2: a pretty stacked rostack that put some to premiership favorites.
[18:05] Speaker 1: Well that they are, they've got the ability to really
[18:08] Speaker 1: revent their roster because someone said that come twenty twenty eight,
[18:11] Speaker 1: there's only.
[18:11] Speaker 5: Four players at the end of this four plays, Yeah,
[18:14] Speaker 5: contracted and of this year, I think you've got Cody
[18:17] Speaker 5: off White and off Gy Arrow and Keon's going to Dragon.
[18:21] Speaker 5: So there's some cash right there. Like that's how to
[18:23] Speaker 5: be pushing two point six at least of your cap
[18:27] Speaker 5: they have.
[18:27] Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they've only got four players of a
[18:29] Speaker 1: contracted past.
[18:30] Speaker 4: Past twenty seventy twenty seven.
[18:32] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and that's I tell it, like they needed
[18:35] Speaker 1: a big signing because when you've got the new teams
[18:37] Speaker 1: coming in as well, boy, yeah, yeah, you know, you
[18:41] Speaker 1: know it's funny and this is going to go around
[18:42] Speaker 1: a lot and and then you know, if he stays
[18:46] Speaker 1: at South. If he does back and he stays at South,
[18:48] Speaker 1: people are going to get well, he's getting away from
[18:49] Speaker 1: the major regimes, too tough and and you know, and
[18:53] Speaker 1: that very that very well might be the case. I
[18:56] Speaker 1: don't see. I don't think you point the finger at
[18:59] Speaker 1: any men. And that in it's at the time Pain
[19:01] Speaker 1: could be right well with his rights. He's only still young,
[19:04] Speaker 1: but he's played a lot of hard football. There's every
[19:06] Speaker 1: chance that he's gone. You know, I've probably got one
[19:08] Speaker 1: really tough preseason, left him in good Madge, and I'll
[19:10] Speaker 1: go somewhere else. And and Madges rightfully to say, look,
[19:15] Speaker 1: that's what they brought me here to do. You know
[19:16] Speaker 1: they say he trains them too hard, he gets results. Yeah,
[19:20] Speaker 1: you know we had Brad Thorny and you're saying, mate,
[19:22] Speaker 1: I laugh when they at the start of the year
[19:23] Speaker 1: when the ra PA is getting involved about the spear buckets,
[19:26] Speaker 1: he said, mate, when I played at the Broncos and
[19:29] Speaker 1: he said, sorry that when he played at the Broncos,
[19:31] Speaker 1: he said, when he first went there in ninety four,
[19:33] Speaker 1: they turn up to do this running session. Kelvin Joless,
[19:36] Speaker 1: that was said, torture him and he said Alfie Kevy
[19:40] Speaker 1: and one of the others vomiting. And he said to
[19:43] Speaker 1: one of the players, I might have said the las
[19:46] Speaker 1: Oh what what have they already done some training? He said, no, mate,
[19:50] Speaker 1: they know what's coming nerves. But you know the Broncos.
[19:56] Speaker 1: They brought Madge there for the reason he got in
[19:58] Speaker 1: the competition and the well within pains right. If he goes,
[20:01] Speaker 1: you know what, I probably I probably can't do him
[20:04] Speaker 1: any more of these pre seasons.
[20:05] Speaker 3: He grew up in the Hunter, didn't he.
[20:07] Speaker 1: It would be.
[20:07] Speaker 3: Yeah, he's an overcast, so there's a half a sense
[20:11] Speaker 3: of coming home as well or.
[20:12] Speaker 2: So, and there's always been murmurs he's been looking to
[20:15] Speaker 2: come back this way for it, like there's always been
[20:17] Speaker 2: the Painhass Rooster's link. They've said that for a while,
[20:20] Speaker 2: so he might just be looking for a change. It's
[20:22] Speaker 2: a hard play. Brisbane is a hard place to be
[20:24] Speaker 2: a star up there, like Briesch, Walsham, Painhass. They wouldn't
[20:28] Speaker 2: be able to really do anything up there without being hassled.
[20:31] Speaker 1: I remember this the first time seeing him player was
[20:33] Speaker 1: against you Jack playing on the twenties.
[20:34] Speaker 5: Yeah, twenties, I remember that there was the first time
[20:36] Speaker 5: over played Brisbane in any competition, and it wasn't a
[20:38] Speaker 5: great day.
[20:39] Speaker 4: I think we had about forty put on.
[20:40] Speaker 1: Us that day. Yeah, he was just unstoppable.
[20:43] Speaker 2: Is that the day that they ripped your shirt off
[20:45] Speaker 2: on the field?
[20:45] Speaker 4: Now that was in the finals. We just lost that game.
[20:47] Speaker 4: We just picked, We just got picked that game.
[20:49] Speaker 1: We played. Jack played, Jack played.
[20:52] Speaker 4: The fans didn't make.
[20:53] Speaker 1: Jack played a whole set of six without a jersey.
[20:57] Speaker 1: The jersey got ripped off, and.
[20:58] Speaker 5: He's actually, yeah, it got really off, and then I
[21:01] Speaker 5: was trying to put it back.
[21:02] Speaker 4: But then I was like the primary kicker and it
[21:04] Speaker 4: was inside out.
[21:05] Speaker 5: And it was inside out, and it's a wind tunnel
[21:07] Speaker 5: at Ali, the old Alian Stadium, and I couldn't see
[21:11] Speaker 5: him to get it on. So I threw it at
[21:12] Speaker 5: the trainer to turn it inside out for me put
[21:14] Speaker 5: a kick in. Where did it end up?
[21:15] Speaker 4: Good?
[21:15] Speaker 1: It was actually a really good kick for Jack. Yeah,
[21:18] Speaker 1: in the court, right in the court. And then all
[21:20] Speaker 1: of a sudden he goes and continues on with citizen.
[21:22] Speaker 2: But it's it's on YouTube. Actually, somebody's sorry, someone's clipped up.
[21:27] Speaker 1: Are you're playing ones?
[21:28] Speaker 3: What great?
[21:28] Speaker 1: Are you playing?
[21:28] Speaker 2: Twenties.
[21:29] Speaker 3: Was twenties twenties.
[21:30] Speaker 1: Yea, so no one was watching it just just quickly
[21:34] Speaker 1: we spoke before mate, you sat down. He saw a
[21:37] Speaker 1: little bit of the Super Bowl. I must say it
[21:38] Speaker 1: was a disappointing. It was a really anti climactic super Bowl.
[21:42] Speaker 1: Patson Seahawks. You didn't like it, no, you know, it
[21:47] Speaker 1: just never reached any great heights.
[21:48] Speaker 2: For me, it seemed like because they were the two
[21:50] Speaker 2: best defensive teams of the year two, it was like
[21:52] Speaker 2: watching just it was like watching soccer. There was no attack.
[21:55] Speaker 2: It was very, very slow defensive. And then on top
[21:59] Speaker 2: of that, like it was just all punting, Like most
[22:01] Speaker 2: of the points up until the third quarter came from
[22:03] Speaker 2: just goal kicks.
[22:05] Speaker 3: Right, Look, I didn't I saw the last minute and
[22:07] Speaker 3: a half and the game was already won. I mean,
[22:10] Speaker 3: the last few years have been such great contests and spectacles,
[22:15] Speaker 3: you know, but having not tuned into it.
[22:18] Speaker 1: Half time to bad Bunny at halftime, it's pretty rough having.
[22:23] Speaker 5: The first ground super Bowl in years that didn't have
[22:26] Speaker 5: anything to do with Taylor Swift probably heard it as well.
[22:29] Speaker 5: I think they've had the last three super Bowl Travis
[22:31] Speaker 5: Kelcey's Yeah, that.
[22:33] Speaker 2: Might have you know what's crazy about Bad Bunny? Somebody
[22:36] Speaker 2: said to me at the pub the other day. They
[22:37] Speaker 2: were like, when when Bad Bunny came on at the
[22:40] Speaker 2: halftime a Super Bowl, somebody in the venue, they said, said,
[22:43] Speaker 2: it looks like Jack John's and I can see it now,
[22:46] Speaker 2: like a Hispanic Jack Giants, Yes.
[22:49] Speaker 1: Yes, or just a Jack Johns Jack, which is Hispanic. Look,
[22:53] Speaker 1: there is that look the same with Dylan Brown, had
[22:55] Speaker 1: a bit of Nathan too.
[22:57] Speaker 5: Yeah, you knows all the same category, a little bit
[23:00] Speaker 5: of what Michael Blake.
[23:03] Speaker 2: What sports sets them all aside, though, like Dylan Brown
[23:07] Speaker 2: and Nathan Clear and Bad Bunny and.
[23:08] Speaker 1: Jack Dark here, dark hair, strong chin, great people growth.
[23:14] Speaker 4: The human growth hormone. Maybe I like that.
[23:17] Speaker 2: What do you think of the Bad Bunny stuff? Because
[23:19] Speaker 2: everybody's had Bad Bunny.
[23:21] Speaker 1: It's not my type of music.
[23:22] Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't understand the hammering.
[23:24] Speaker 5: I feel like it's just split between cultures because I
[23:27] Speaker 5: feel like there's another part of the hemisphere that are
[23:30] Speaker 5: absolutely frothing it at the moment.
[23:32] Speaker 1: So if the one we went to was j Lo
[23:36] Speaker 1: and Christian and Shakira and yeah it was good, but again,
[23:42] Speaker 1: it's not my type of music.
[23:43] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[23:43] Speaker 2: See, I found it hard when you listen to like
[23:46] Speaker 2: because I've never really heard I've heard parts of bad
[23:49] Speaker 2: Bunny songs, but when you're listening to music that you
[23:52] Speaker 2: don't speak the language, it's kind of hard to like,
[23:54] Speaker 2: I imagine. I wonder how many cultures don't like listening
[23:58] Speaker 2: to some English language songs.
[24:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right, you know what I mean.
[24:01] Speaker 2: Like if you go and I've looked at Spotify in
[24:03] Speaker 2: some countries before, like what their top ones are and
[24:06] Speaker 2: their top one hundred in some countries like have like
[24:10] Speaker 2: only some actual English speaking so like a lot of
[24:13] Speaker 2: it in their own native tongue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right,
[24:15] Speaker 2: So something to think about it.
[24:17] Speaker 1: It's definitely wow. Think about coops. Now, what do you
[24:20] Speaker 1: got for us coops?
[24:21] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I've got something here. So something that's happened
[24:24] Speaker 2: during the week. Guys, you're probably given us the preseason
[24:27] Speaker 2: trials coming up this week. A video has been circulating
[24:31] Speaker 2: of my highlights from the preseason games back in twenty
[24:34] Speaker 2: twenty three.
[24:34] Speaker 1: You will not let that go to the preseason for envy.
[24:38] Speaker 2: No no, but this is a legit thing. This happened on
[24:40] Speaker 2: social media. It's circulated around and look, I knew it
[24:43] Speaker 2: was going to welcome some nice messages. I knew it
[24:45] Speaker 2: was going to welcome some possibly hurtful comments. So I
[24:49] Speaker 2: read through comments and I put a top five comments.
[24:52] Speaker 2: This is like, of all the nasty comments that were
[24:54] Speaker 2: said about me on the video, I'll tell you what
[24:56] Speaker 2: people are getting, like cleverer and cleverer because some these
[25:00] Speaker 2: are that funny. They're all kind of like, I'll just
[25:03] Speaker 2: go ahead, you'll see it.
[25:04] Speaker 4: Is this a.
[25:04] Speaker 3: Particular preseason keeps or just all pre seasons?
[25:08] Speaker 2: You didn't watch it? Did you? When I when I
[25:11] Speaker 2: was at Manly my first pre season.
[25:12] Speaker 1: But you were on fire? Yeah?
[25:14] Speaker 3: Yeah, it earned your contract?
[25:16] Speaker 2: Yeah, I certainly did al ready money.
[25:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, well, how many years you have mainly on what
[25:22] Speaker 1: a season that money?
[25:24] Speaker 3: Yeah? First, like to spend ten years there in one season, exactly.
[25:27] Speaker 2: Four seasons in one day.
[25:29] Speaker 1: Thing.
[25:30] Speaker 2: Okay, So this was one of my favorites. That's a
[25:34] Speaker 2: skipped in a generational talent. Someone said, strikes confidence in
[25:40] Speaker 2: the opposition. Most believable player I've seen, one of the
[25:53] Speaker 2: biggest what if nots in the NRL, and my personal favorite,
[26:00] Speaker 2: stoppable on his day.
[26:05] Speaker 1: That's pretty good.
[26:06] Speaker 2: It's hard not to hate those comments. I thought they
[26:08] Speaker 2: were actually very very funny.
[26:10] Speaker 4: I saw another one and said, the player of all time.
[26:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, one of the players all time.
[26:17] Speaker 4: Right, don't.
[26:20] Speaker 2: We got a new segment today as well. You're going
[26:23] Speaker 2: to be excited because it involves you and Dad.
[26:25] Speaker 1: Now here we go.
[26:25] Speaker 2: This is something that we want to I've been wanting
[26:27] Speaker 2: to try to bring back in, but it's very hard
[26:29] Speaker 2: when Trish is in here to bring new segments in
[26:31] Speaker 2: because she kind of like it just doesn't flow with her.
[26:33] Speaker 2: But I feel like you're gonna be very good.
[26:35] Speaker 1: You've got a triple explain. Sometimes takes three episodes for
[26:37] Speaker 1: he to get it.
[26:38] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[26:39] Speaker 2: So this is an acting scenario. Essentially, it's improv I'm
[26:42] Speaker 2: going to give you to a scenario, give you both characters,
[26:44] Speaker 2: and then I'm going to clap my hands and you
[26:45] Speaker 2: guys go into that scenario.
[26:47] Speaker 1: Okay, you really paint the picture picture.
[26:50] Speaker 2: So this one, Marty, you're going to be Trish. Okay,
[26:53] Speaker 2: you're Trish and you've been waiting at home for a
[26:55] Speaker 2: romantic dinner with Dad. In this case that your husband
[26:59] Speaker 2: is Maddie. John's lucky you, and he's been true, he's
[27:03] Speaker 2: been down he's been down at the pub with his mate.
[27:06] Speaker 2: Let let's say he's down at the pub with Marty
[27:08] Speaker 2: and he's an hour and a half late for dinner.
[27:10] Speaker 2: So you're true, you're quite angry Dad. You're coming home
[27:13] Speaker 2: a little bit intoxicated, and you're trying to weasel, okay,
[27:17] Speaker 2: encouraging anytime.
[27:20] Speaker 3: I don't think it's going to get any better with times.
[27:23] Speaker 2: And it's all off in three to one.
[27:26] Speaker 1: Hey, baby girl, how you doing?
[27:27] Speaker 3: Matt You were due home two hours ago, mate.
[27:30] Speaker 1: Two hours ago? No no, no, I told her you been.
[27:34] Speaker 1: I told you I was going to get how at
[27:35] Speaker 1: two am? I was just down there with Marty.
[27:37] Speaker 3: Look at me. I'm dressed up. I've been ready to
[27:41] Speaker 3: go out for the last two hours. And you turn
[27:42] Speaker 3: it and you're half You're not half cut your three
[27:46] Speaker 3: seats of the wind, mate, Trish.
[27:47] Speaker 1: Look, I love the lingerie you got on. It's beautiful.
[27:51] Speaker 1: But honestly true, I'm down there with Marney. Look, I
[27:53] Speaker 1: wanted to come home early, but Marty, you know he
[27:56] Speaker 1: flirts with the young shoe is down there.
[27:57] Speaker 3: You are infatuated with that bloke.
[28:00] Speaker 1: Just because I love him, don't mean you have to
[28:02] Speaker 1: love you all right, listen, and don't take the high grounds.
[28:07] Speaker 1: I don't like to bring it up. You asked me
[28:09] Speaker 1: not to bring it up. And I remember, honestly getting
[28:11] Speaker 1: home once and there you are in bed with Marty.
[28:13] Speaker 1: He's chocolate block in the okay he was.
[28:16] Speaker 3: He was sucking matos of letting go. You've really wrecked
[28:21] Speaker 3: this tonight, Matt. The only redeeming feature is you were
[28:23] Speaker 3: a good guy.
[28:24] Speaker 4: All right, reckon, boy's pretty very good.
[28:30] Speaker 2: That was very very good.
[28:31] Speaker 1: I like that.
[28:32] Speaker 2: This is a good segment. Marty, you're very good at
[28:34] Speaker 2: it too. I just play Hang on a second, guys,
[28:38] Speaker 2: can we have a look at Marty's mike? Could that
[28:40] Speaker 2: get higher up on? I think that's covering your faith.
[28:45] Speaker 3: I can smell trish on it turns you down.
[28:50] Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, well, that's a blape.
[28:55] Speaker 4: That's a blape. That's our first blade for.
[28:58] Speaker 1: First please, sorry, you know, mate, I tell you what
[29:02] Speaker 1: all jokes aside. I tell you what, mate, She leaves
[29:04] Speaker 1: a hole in this family when she's gone. The moment
[29:07] Speaker 1: she leaves goes out the door, anything, things just start
[29:10] Speaker 1: falling apart. The first thing fridge broke, all right, So
[29:13] Speaker 1: I'm ringing her in India. She's like three am in
[29:15] Speaker 1: the morning, Trish, the fridge is break. What the fuck
[29:18] Speaker 1: do you want me to do about it? Then, my
[29:21] Speaker 1: uber mate, honestly, my uber, I try to do an
[29:25] Speaker 1: uber anyway, ship itself. I'm there yesterday, me and Jack
[29:28] Speaker 1: going at it.
[29:29] Speaker 5: Don't even involve me in it this right, I'm sitting
[29:32] Speaker 5: there working and I hear this kerfuffle in the background,
[29:36] Speaker 5: and he's going, the uber's shitting itself. The uber's shitting itself,
[29:40] Speaker 5: and it logged itself out right, It logged itself out.
[29:43] Speaker 5: Now the issue with Matthew is everything he uses to
[29:46] Speaker 5: log into anything has to do.
[29:48] Speaker 2: With Trish, right, you know when they sound like confirmation
[29:50] Speaker 2: codes and stuff.
[29:51] Speaker 1: It goes to she has rendered me useless. Now there's
[29:53] Speaker 1: a story coming here. Oh yeah.
[29:55] Speaker 5: But essentially he was losing his shit Marty, and he
[29:58] Speaker 5: made a little bit of a kerfuffle. I might have
[30:00] Speaker 5: told him to ease up a little bit. I said, Howbud,
[30:02] Speaker 5: I just get you an uber and he refused. He
[30:04] Speaker 5: wanted to go the way of the Uba. Apparently blew
[30:09] Speaker 5: it out of the water. How to get a lift
[30:10] Speaker 5: from someone found his way. But then about four hours later,
[30:12] Speaker 5: I get an apology text.
[30:14] Speaker 2: Sorry, yeah, he's been no you because you're I think
[30:17] Speaker 2: you've I would say, the last six months you've been
[30:20] Speaker 2: really struggling to contain your emotions.
[30:23] Speaker 1: Oh god, you wouldn't. This month we did unbelievable. It's
[30:28] Speaker 1: an estrogen thing or something. Mate. I was chatting the
[30:31] Speaker 1: other day, you know, chatting to somebody just Chatney actually
[30:34] Speaker 1: asked me about film on teammates like Chief and that
[30:37] Speaker 1: next thing. Mate, I'm like, literally, Prime, that was It
[30:41] Speaker 1: was just so he.
[30:42] Speaker 5: Was talking about Chief Chief giving a final message before
[30:45] Speaker 5: the Grand Final and he's going, sorry, I'm getting emotional,
[30:48] Speaker 5: and I was going, what, Yeah, there's something going on with.
[30:53] Speaker 1: Mate.
[30:53] Speaker 3: Once once that snapped inside you, there's no coming back,
[30:57] Speaker 3: you'll be You'll be a cry baby for the rest
[30:59] Speaker 3: of on.
[31:00] Speaker 1: And you know the who the bloke who was there, Like,
[31:03] Speaker 1: these two blokes were really they're really embarrassed. I could
[31:05] Speaker 1: see he was quite embarrassed. Didn't know what to do,
[31:07] Speaker 1: and he said, he said, thank you for showing your vulnerability.
[31:12] Speaker 4: But with the thing.
[31:13] Speaker 1: I rang Trush again three am in the morning over there,
[31:17] Speaker 1: I said, Trish, the uber is not working again. She goes,
[31:19] Speaker 1: what the fuck do you want me to do about it?
[31:21] Speaker 2: You know what else is annoying? Like Dad can't like
[31:24] Speaker 2: check himself in on like a flight. So before me
[31:26] Speaker 2: and Jack went to New Zealand, he was going to
[31:28] Speaker 2: Port mcquarry, he was like, can you check me in
[31:30] Speaker 2: on the f like rather than just going up into
[31:32] Speaker 2: the front desk. He didn't know how to check him
[31:35] Speaker 2: in online on the actuals.
[31:36] Speaker 3: Complicated, Okay, are you setting me up? No, it's you're
[31:40] Speaker 3: just describing me and my problems. So she's not only
[31:44] Speaker 3: running you, Matt and this household, but she's running hours
[31:47] Speaker 3: as well. Yes, as you know where chiffing off overseas
[31:51] Speaker 3: for a couple of weeks. On early March and a
[31:56] Speaker 3: couple of weeks, Tris said, Marty, you've got those flights booked.
[31:58] Speaker 3: And I said, Trica, I'm bugging to find out how
[32:01] Speaker 3: to use points and that sort of thing. So I
[32:03] Speaker 3: came down here, she booked the flights for me, got
[32:05] Speaker 3: us going, and then now she's got all my passcades
[32:11] Speaker 3: and she said, now can you get me this information?
[32:13] Speaker 3: I said, I don't have that, Triss. You know, I've
[32:15] Speaker 3: got to go to work and get that. And she
[32:16] Speaker 3: has oh this is so I know you film, mate.
[32:20] Speaker 4: But she is.
[32:21] Speaker 1: She is a whiz. At points, she's unbel and she
[32:24] Speaker 1: just she loves it sitting there mate and get you this,
[32:27] Speaker 1: get you on this flight. She's unbelievable and like it's
[32:30] Speaker 1: not well like of course she does everything. I realized
[32:33] Speaker 1: when she's not here that I think in some ways
[32:36] Speaker 1: it's a tactic for her to do everything, so I
[32:39] Speaker 1: can't leave her completely rely on. Don't worry. I want to.
[32:45] Speaker 2: Exciting listen for all of our listeners who are listening
[32:47] Speaker 2: to this. Dad and I are going to be able
[32:49] Speaker 2: to live golf this weekend as well. When this comes out,
[32:51] Speaker 2: our flight will be going off Adelaide Live Golf. You
[32:54] Speaker 2: ever been to there? No, No, It's going to be
[32:57] Speaker 2: a good time. I reckon it's one of the one
[32:59] Speaker 2: of the events sporting of the year to get to.
[33:01] Speaker 3: Look it's much Maligne Adelaide, but it's a great town
[33:04] Speaker 3: and it's great for an event. The old Grand Prix
[33:06] Speaker 3: was there like thirty years ago and they reckon nothing
[33:09] Speaker 3: better an Adelaide Test match, So I'm sure live golf
[33:11] Speaker 3: will be right up.
[33:13] Speaker 1: There's just a great city to go around. Is it
[33:14] Speaker 1: the proximity. You know, you get there, just here there.
[33:17] Speaker 1: It's a really good scene. It's a great music city
[33:19] Speaker 1: to always bands. I bumped down mate Dave Gluesen from
[33:23] Speaker 1: the Scream and Jets. I think they're doing a bit
[33:25] Speaker 1: of he's got a band or something doing something. So
[33:28] Speaker 1: we've got a few things lined up. Two.
[33:31] Speaker 5: I'll be holding the fought down for our SG Ball
[33:33] Speaker 5: Round two team this weekend of brook the Oval, Cooper,
[33:36] Speaker 5: while you're away, you're absent. Now you've taught him well
[33:41] Speaker 5: to look after themselves, haven't you.
[33:42] Speaker 2: I feel like they're eighteen, right, they'll be fine. When
[33:45] Speaker 2: I was eighteen and I was on the own out
[33:46] Speaker 2: in the street.
[33:47] Speaker 1: Do they they're quickly on the flight. Do they have
[33:50] Speaker 1: a beer on the flight where they allowed to have?
[33:52] Speaker 4: Some of them are seven they can't can't drink?
[33:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, I wish they could.
[33:55] Speaker 2: Not that, not that any of us forever drink it
[33:57] Speaker 2: under a seven under.
[34:00] Speaker 3: But did we go in to overseas off the John's recommendations.
[34:05] Speaker 3: We're flying into Istanbul, So we land there and we've
[34:09] Speaker 3: got five days there in the Sultana met So I'm
[34:14] Speaker 3: really looking forward to that. So place I've wanted to
[34:18] Speaker 3: go for a long long time, and that's just to
[34:21] Speaker 3: break the ice. We're on a two week cruise in Norway.
[34:25] Speaker 3: I got a daughter in London who's been there for
[34:27] Speaker 3: seven years. So when we finished the two week cruise,
[34:30] Speaker 3: we go up to the Arctic Circle, right up for
[34:32] Speaker 3: the Russian border. You know a bit of dog sledding
[34:35] Speaker 3: and all that sort of stuff.
[34:37] Speaker 1: Yeah, it will.
[34:38] Speaker 2: Be dog sledding, like is that like dogs? Mush mushyhow
[34:43] Speaker 2: you're whipping them if I.
[34:44] Speaker 3: Get a chance. And then and then back into Europe
[34:51] Speaker 3: for twelve days Prague. I haven't really done much of
[34:55] Speaker 3: Eastern Europe, so.
[34:56] Speaker 2: I reckon bedbugs. Of the bed bugs Munich.
[35:01] Speaker 1: Don't listen, we don't sleep in Munich. When we went
[35:04] Speaker 1: to when we went to near a charger in Hungary
[35:07] Speaker 1: right our next stop. Then we're down to Budapest and
[35:09] Speaker 1: the next stop we're going to Munich. I was really excited.
[35:12] Speaker 1: This lady walks in, you know, and she comes over
[35:15] Speaker 1: and chat and we're going.
[35:16] Speaker 2: On, it's just in a restaurant.
[35:18] Speaker 1: In a restaurant, crazy and we go, oh yeah, blah blah.
[35:21] Speaker 1: But she goes where you off to? Next? We said
[35:23] Speaker 1: we're going to go to Munich. She said, oh, whatever
[35:25] Speaker 1: you do, don't go to Munich. The city's infested with
[35:28] Speaker 1: bed bugs. Well that was enough for Trish. She's like,
[35:31] Speaker 1: we're not going to Munich.
[35:32] Speaker 2: Change the whole really, yeah, yeah, literally mid trip literally,
[35:37] Speaker 2: like change the flights, accommodation, everything.
[35:39] Speaker 4: Yeah, out of the pure thought that she might get itchy.
[35:43] Speaker 2: Yeah, and like it. There's no way bed bugs are
[35:45] Speaker 2: infesting the whole city. And we were googling it and
[35:47] Speaker 2: there was no articles, I know.
[35:49] Speaker 1: But Prague they say, they say it is the most
[35:52] Speaker 1: beautiful city, like a fairy tale village.
[35:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, so I believe. So I'm really looking forward to Prague.
[35:59] Speaker 3: So my picks were istan Bull and Prague, and then
[36:02] Speaker 3: Robin's picks are Paris and Amsterdam. So we're doing those
[36:06] Speaker 3: four and head home. So that's that's where we're off
[36:09] Speaker 3: to the.
[36:09] Speaker 1: Question for you, Marty, Amsterdam for a long time, forever
[36:12] Speaker 1: in a day has been legal to you know, Have
[36:15] Speaker 1: you had a chof over there?
[36:17] Speaker 4: All? Right?
[36:17] Speaker 3: So I went to Amsterdam three times in nine eighty eight, allegedly,
[36:23] Speaker 3: I don't actually recall.
[36:24] Speaker 1: Any of them.
[36:24] Speaker 3: We used to call it Amster smash. And when Robin
[36:28] Speaker 3: was asking my brother, who was over there at the
[36:31] Speaker 3: same time, where we should say, in Amsterdam. He said,
[36:34] Speaker 3: as close as you can get to the Bulldog Cafe
[36:37] Speaker 3: as possible, because the Bulldog Cafe has the best supply
[36:40] Speaker 3: of hash cookies and all sorts of illicit stuff. So
[36:43] Speaker 3: it's a wild town.
[36:44] Speaker 2: But it's not a listed there, right, No.
[36:47] Speaker 3: You know what I think. When we were there, it
[36:50] Speaker 3: wasn't legal, but it was you know, no one ever
[36:54] Speaker 3: prosecuted anything, and it was pretty heavy, you know. So
[36:58] Speaker 3: and then you got the Reaper Barn of course, the
[37:00] Speaker 3: famous red Light district. It's a really interesting town. It's pretty,
[37:04] Speaker 3: but it's edgy.
[37:04] Speaker 2: So my mate lived there for a year. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
[37:08] Speaker 2: and he loved.
[37:09] Speaker 5: It, very very edgy. Gem Me and Jim went two
[37:12] Speaker 5: years ago and she took me to the Red Light
[37:14] Speaker 5: District for a walk around.
[37:15] Speaker 1: Jeez, it's you met there.
[37:17] Speaker 6: Yeah, Okay, that's not appropriate.
[37:23] Speaker 2: That's Jack's partner and.
[37:25] Speaker 1: Throw away line. It's funny.
[37:28] Speaker 3: The ladies of the night they display their wares in
[37:32] Speaker 3: the windows like you actually go shopping, window shopping for
[37:36] Speaker 3: your choice of lady. So I was wandering through this
[37:40] Speaker 3: through the reef of barn district, and I thought, you
[37:43] Speaker 3: know what, I looked pretty good in that window. So
[37:46] Speaker 3: I climbed in with one of the ladies of the night. Yeah,
[37:51] Speaker 3: and one of my mates had the old Kodak camera,
[37:55] Speaker 3: took a photo. We got swamped by bouncers, took the
[37:59] Speaker 3: camera office, rip the film out of the out of
[38:01] Speaker 3: the camera, through the film into the into the canal,
[38:05] Speaker 3: and said, on your way, boys.
[38:07] Speaker 1: So did you go shopping mate?
[38:10] Speaker 3: That was as close as I got. Yeah, yeah, just.
[38:14] Speaker 1: The Jimmy the best place you don't.
[38:18] Speaker 3: Oh, Maddie, if I can just New Orleans, I just
[38:26] Speaker 3: I just love the hole. Bourbon Street. I mean Bourbon
[38:30] Speaker 3: Street is fully cooked. But you get into you know
[38:35] Speaker 3: French Frenchman's Street. You know some of the bars there,
[38:39] Speaker 3: the music, the jazz, the blues, all that sort of stuff.
[38:43] Speaker 3: Love New Orleans have a lifelong passion, as you touched
[38:46] Speaker 3: on before, for the North of England. You know, sold
[38:49] Speaker 3: of the earth. People up there give you the shirt
[38:52] Speaker 3: off off your back, as we as we learned some
[38:55] Speaker 3: time ago. So yeah, that's a that's a fun probably
[39:00] Speaker 3: if i'm if I'm picking those two. But I mean
[39:02] Speaker 3: for beauty, as I said, we're doing this Norway cruise.
[39:05] Speaker 3: I think the most beautiful places in the world are
[39:09] Speaker 3: Austria and Norway. Norway, the the Fjords and all that
[39:14] Speaker 3: sort of stuff. So I'm looking forward to going back there.
[39:17] Speaker 2: Some pictures that they have Greenland, like I mate, that
[39:20] Speaker 2: was there, beautiful, looked unbelievable.
[39:23] Speaker 1: It's just about the coldest country in the world, Greenland.
[39:26] Speaker 4: It's up there. It's like that's partic circle, is it. Yeah?
[39:30] Speaker 3: Maybe I'm thinking of our range of temperatures next month
[39:33] Speaker 3: on the cruise from zero to one. Yeah, yeah, so
[39:39] Speaker 3: will be taking the long Johns you like.
[39:42] Speaker 1: I've never been on a cruise, Marty like, like.
[39:48] Speaker 3: I would, I would have called myself an anti cruiser.
[39:51] Speaker 3: I've only done one MAT which was in twenty ten
[39:54] Speaker 3: in the Mediterranean with the family when when the kids were.
[39:57] Speaker 1: Younger and it was gold.
[39:59] Speaker 3: So yeah, i haven't gone back to it, but I'm
[40:02] Speaker 3: looking forward to this.
[40:03] Speaker 2: We've never done one.
[40:04] Speaker 4: Have a family, I think.
[40:06] Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd say Trish is the reason mainly you get
[40:09] Speaker 5: that those rumors of the bugs getting on board and
[40:11] Speaker 5: then just going on having it through the through the
[40:14] Speaker 5: people and the TRITI.
[40:15] Speaker 2: Has done it.
[40:16] Speaker 5: Yeah, as a family I think, yeah, there's a thing
[40:19] Speaker 5: they're the adult ones. But because you get the adult
[40:21] Speaker 5: ones where it's like no kids on board, I think
[40:23] Speaker 5: they're sort of a bit more of a safer play.
[40:25] Speaker 2: Those ones. There's like heaps of swinging apparently going on cruises.
[40:29] Speaker 2: Did you know that?
[40:30] Speaker 3: Yeah, this is our this is our show, this is
[40:32] Speaker 3: our time. So yeah, so this is an adults only
[40:35] Speaker 3: cruise for sure, and we're going on out with another
[40:38] Speaker 3: couple just so we're comfortable with the first night.
[40:41] Speaker 2: Do you know what the symbol is?
[40:44] Speaker 3: No enlightenment.
[40:45] Speaker 2: So if you see someone on item of clothing that
[40:48] Speaker 2: they're wearing and it's a upside down pineapple or just
[40:51] Speaker 2: a pineapple realistically on the cruise, that means they're open
[40:55] Speaker 2: for swinging.
[40:56] Speaker 1: I've got the same thing about the supermarket. If you
[40:58] Speaker 1: go there, if you've got the pineapple upside do no.
[41:00] Speaker 2: It's anywhere upside down pineapple is universal lately.
[41:03] Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's a fair chance though, Matthew, that
[41:05] Speaker 5: if you're walking a woollly tomorrow there's enough side down
[41:07] Speaker 5: to pineapple.
[41:08] Speaker 4: It probably doesn't mean someone was to root.
[41:10] Speaker 2: Dad's hanging around the fruit section just flipping all the pineapples.
[41:13] Speaker 1: When you said shirt off the back, Marty. Do you
[41:15] Speaker 1: remember one year, probably about five years ago, Marty, where
[41:19] Speaker 1: Trish goes New Years. I don't want to do anything
[41:21] Speaker 1: years less, so you don't do anything, I said, suits me.
[41:29] Speaker 1: I said, let's not do anything anyway. Justice is starting
[41:33] Speaker 1: to go on dark. Marty comes Mosey and passed. I said, Marty,
[41:36] Speaker 1: what are you doing? Mate? I said, you want to
[41:38] Speaker 1: come under a beer. So I don't know exactly what
[41:42] Speaker 1: happened next, Marty, but I was down at your joint
[41:44] Speaker 1: and I woke up in the backyard at four o'clock
[41:46] Speaker 1: in the morning without my shirt on.
[41:49] Speaker 3: Yep, and I've still got it at home. You autographed
[41:52] Speaker 3: it before you left. But yeah, and after midnight you're
[41:58] Speaker 3: rang your great mate John because we were talking about
[42:01] Speaker 3: all things Liverpool and and we had a good yarnder him.
[42:05] Speaker 3: But that was one hell of an years he've made.
[42:07] Speaker 3: In fact, it was COVID. I don't think it was
[42:09] Speaker 3: supposed to be in each other's armes.
[42:10] Speaker 1: Yeah right, but forgiven, Yeah, Trish was in a mate.
[42:13] Speaker 1: Trish was fantastic. When I was banging on the back
[42:16] Speaker 1: door at four point thirty in the morning, I really
[42:19] Speaker 1: understand me. She was fine.
[42:20] Speaker 2: She would have loved that.
[42:21] Speaker 1: We had a few tea. Was a ripper day. Grand
[42:24] Speaker 1: Grand Final day this year. Oh really, mate, we're out
[42:29] Speaker 1: and about. We had to do a speaking gigman at
[42:33] Speaker 1: Halo Sport and Hallow Sport boys, you know, with Tom
[42:35] Speaker 1: Burningham and Eddie. Anyway, Billy's there, Billy the great twelfth Man.
[42:40] Speaker 1: And I said, what are you doing, Billy? What are
[42:42] Speaker 1: you doing for the grand Finally yes, no, no, no,
[42:44] Speaker 1: I said, come over my joint. Come over. We've got
[42:46] Speaker 1: a couple of the neighbors. Come over you one in particular, Marty,
[42:49] Speaker 1: you get on like a house on fire. What about it?
[42:52] Speaker 1: Wasn't that a great mate?
[42:53] Speaker 3: It was a great day. I mean, sensational Grand Final,
[42:56] Speaker 3: but that was almost just a sidelight like that epic comeback.
[43:00] Speaker 3: Billy was just in character, in and out of character
[43:03] Speaker 3: all day. What a champion bloke. And you know I
[43:06] Speaker 3: loved him breaking into Red Roll Warren Ray Warren Rod
[43:10] Speaker 3: Warren you six brothers. Yeah, but you know he's he's
[43:18] Speaker 3: tainty Greggs and everything. Yeah, epic epic man.
[43:21] Speaker 1: I say him, I say him every time. I said,
[43:25] Speaker 1: you've got to go back on it. You've got to
[43:26] Speaker 1: go on the road. He's like, oh, you know, Maddie,
[43:29] Speaker 1: I don't think anyone would be really young. You're kidding me.
[43:32] Speaker 3: I said it would sell out and I've told heaps
[43:37] Speaker 3: of mates about what a great day that was, and and.
[43:41] Speaker 1: Every one of them is Billy Birmingham.
[43:42] Speaker 3: You've got to be kidding, you know, Like, so no,
[43:45] Speaker 3: he's he he'd rope made in terms of the crowds
[43:49] Speaker 3: that he still loved.
[43:50] Speaker 2: Well, mate, Marty, thanks for coming on. Appreciate Bloody coming on,
[43:53] Speaker 2: feeling in for true debo.
[43:55] Speaker 1: Just honestly, how do I smell?
[43:56] Speaker 3: Like?
[44:00] Speaker 2: Absolutely ship, I'm that close to That's what I'm trying,
[44:02] Speaker 2: you know.
[44:02] Speaker 4: What's funny?
[44:04] Speaker 2: But we we we had about the same sized rundown
[44:07] Speaker 2: as when usually Tricia's in here, And as we got
[44:10] Speaker 2: through it a looked down and it was significantly earlier,
[44:13] Speaker 2: which tells us that because usually we have a go
[44:15] Speaker 2: Atricia being so long winded, like she'll just or interrupting
[44:18] Speaker 2: and bogging everything down.
[44:19] Speaker 3: If you want me to keep talking, I can keep going.
[44:21] Speaker 2: No no, no, absolutely no, no, no, absolutely not. But it's
[44:24] Speaker 2: I feel like we've not that we haven't they haven't
[44:28] Speaker 2: enjoyed Marty's company, but we've we've missed that feminine energy.
[44:32] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, Well a number of people are saying
[44:34] Speaker 1: that we're picking on Trish too much, so we're turning
[44:37] Speaker 1: over the new leaf. Yeah, you gotta be kinder to
[44:39] Speaker 1: the lady in our life. Kindness of fact. She's over
[44:42] Speaker 1: in India. We miss a dearly Trician. Don't worry. When
[44:44] Speaker 1: I say, she said, who's on the podcast? Said Marty?
[44:46] Speaker 1: She goes, oh, god, do you think it will be
[44:48] Speaker 1: better than me? Said no, darling, No, no.
[44:52] Speaker 2: She wigs out when if we do a podcast without us,
[44:54] Speaker 2: she doesn't like it. She'll listen back and then be like, oh,
[44:57] Speaker 2: it wasn't that good.
[44:58] Speaker 1: No more trips away from her, then talking about stinking.
[45:02] Speaker 1: When I came back from Port mccroary on the plane,
[45:04] Speaker 1: the guy jumped on the it was it's not good.
[45:10] Speaker 1: It was. It wasn't a smell, it was an entity.
[45:13] Speaker 1: It was that bad, Matt.
[45:15] Speaker 3: If you had a gig in Port macquarie, you should
[45:17] Speaker 3: have driven, mate.
[45:18] Speaker 1: It's not it's not worth. It's not worth the four hours.
[45:23] Speaker 1: I'll tear what happened. Well, it was worth the flight
[45:25] Speaker 1: because the bloke who sat next to me. He was
[45:27] Speaker 1: a big fellaw right, he said, next to you. And
[45:29] Speaker 1: we start to chat and he said he had talking
[45:31] Speaker 1: about football and I said, what do you do and
[45:35] Speaker 1: he said, I'm a doctor and I said, oh yeah. Anyway,
[45:38] Speaker 1: he was being modest. The more he spoke, the more
[45:41] Speaker 1: I'm going no, no, no, this guy is as serious.
[45:44] Speaker 1: And I said, what you know, what do you do?
[45:45] Speaker 1: As far as he said, my specialty is in testines
[45:49] Speaker 1: intestinal health and he said, in fact, more and more
[45:52] Speaker 1: we're seeing babies born with their intestinees on the outside.
[45:55] Speaker 1: And he said, I do that and fix them up.
[45:57] Speaker 1: And I said they all survive. Yep, they survived. And
[46:00] Speaker 1: he starts talking about some other stuff and I said, hey, listen, Jim.
[46:03] Speaker 1: I said, Jim, let's put modesty aside, because I always do.
[46:08] Speaker 1: And I said, Jim, tell me what you tell me
[46:11] Speaker 1: what you do, You're more than a doctor. And he goes, look,
[46:13] Speaker 1: he said, my specially is intestinal health. He said, but
[46:16] Speaker 1: I'm a physicist and I'm a medical engineer, and I've
[46:20] Speaker 1: gone Jesus Christ. He goes yeah, and he said, I said,
[46:23] Speaker 1: you know, as far as a medical engineer, he said,
[46:25] Speaker 1: you know that the ventilators are used all around the
[46:27] Speaker 1: world with COVID. He said, I invented those. So then
[46:30] Speaker 1: we start to talk, right, and he says to me
[46:33] Speaker 1: and I said, oh, you know Jim. So he said, mate,
[46:35] Speaker 1: I'm living and he split my time between Sydney, Melbourne
[46:39] Speaker 1: and Newcastley, so I love Newcastle. He said, the people
[46:42] Speaker 1: are great. I work at john und Hospital, earthy people.
[46:44] Speaker 1: I really like it. So yeah, and I said, mate,
[46:47] Speaker 1: where we're born and he said, this is an amazing story.
[46:50] Speaker 1: He said yeah. He said it's complicated. He said, I
[46:53] Speaker 1: was I was born in Blacktown Hospital and he must
[46:56] Speaker 1: have been born into difficult circumstances and he got adopted
[46:59] Speaker 1: by family in New Zealand at four years of age
[47:03] Speaker 1: and he said, he said, I was raised Mari and.
[47:06] Speaker 3: I it was an overseas adoption of an Australia Australian
[47:09] Speaker 3: boy and he said, I was raised as Mari.
[47:12] Speaker 1: And I said, that is unbelievable in Australia. Ko parents,
[47:16] Speaker 1: they're all still in New Zealand. Yeah, right, incredible. And
[47:19] Speaker 1: the guy was an absolute gentleman, but never a gentleman.
[47:23] Speaker 1: But you know what was funny leading in is the
[47:25] Speaker 1: fact that when he said he's a doctor, I was
[47:26] Speaker 1: asking certain things like oh mate, you know, having my opinion,
[47:29] Speaker 1: and of course he was shooting them all down. When
[47:31] Speaker 1: I realized he was a physicist, I was like.
[47:34] Speaker 3: He must and he wasn't saying I'm a doctor. He's
[47:36] Speaker 3: saying I'm adopted.
[47:38] Speaker 2: On that note, Mary, yeah, Tricia's long windedness, Jesus stretched,
[47:46] Speaker 2: it's not And he told us that a few times.
[47:48] Speaker 2: That story you say it like you're sitting next to
[47:51] Speaker 2: Tom Cruise, mate.
[47:53] Speaker 1: That story is bloke would buy and sell Tom Cruise,
[47:55] Speaker 1: Tom Cruise Mate. He's an actor here, he is action
[47:59] Speaker 1: and cut this like surreal deal mate.
[48:01] Speaker 3: I'm humbled and honored to have been invited. And the
[48:04] Speaker 3: fact that you gave me five minutes notice just tells
[48:06] Speaker 3: me I've come off the reserves bench and someone else
[48:09] Speaker 3: was meant to be sitting here.
[48:10] Speaker 4: He actually.
[48:13] Speaker 2: Was supposed to text you last week week. He's a bloody.
[48:17] Speaker 2: He's the worst organized mate for a bloke who's done
[48:19] Speaker 2: been in the media for a long time. Bloody.
[48:23] Speaker 4: He's got good producers.
[48:24] Speaker 3: That's why it's been a pleasure.
[48:27] Speaker 1: Boys.
[48:27] Speaker 3: Thank you
