[0:00] Speaker 1: I think we're good to go, and well.
[0:08] Speaker 2: The gizls are pretty put together as well.
[0:09] Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah that's right. Family and going gives you
[0:13] Speaker 1: good yeah, pretty good.
[0:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, apologize, we'd like to do some leading questions now
[0:24] Speaker 3: I'm not on.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Make good. Yeah obviously Vegas. I just yeah, I just
[0:30] Speaker 1: want to figure that one out. Yeah.
[0:31] Speaker 3: Was like, as we're recording this, we're getting to the finals,
[0:34] Speaker 3: final days for basis.
[0:36] Speaker 1: I just want to go.
[0:38] Speaker 2: It is like that is just you want to be anywhere.
[0:41] Speaker 1: Else for Las Vegas?
[0:42] Speaker 3: Well, I just I just if we go from some
[0:44] Speaker 3: weird tangents, everyone should know that you have enjoyed the
[0:48] Speaker 3: last couple of days.
[0:49] Speaker 4: That's when they said to me, we're going to sound
[0:53] Speaker 4: dusty American. It's worth his weight in gold. It leads
[0:56] Speaker 4: into certain thing when they had to do done and
[0:58] Speaker 4: what the other day he said, if you want to
[1:00] Speaker 4: really greased him up, so to get it's the first
[1:02] Speaker 4: thing you do is just go mate, how.
[1:04] Speaker 1: Good is Vegas best? Because he said like he just
[1:07] Speaker 1: loves it, loves it? So straight away did you do
[1:09] Speaker 1: what we did down it? We had kids?
[1:13] Speaker 4: It was it was amazing. So we're interviewing and they
[1:17] Speaker 4: his people said ten minutes because you and he goes.
[1:21] Speaker 4: We got to the end of it and he goes,
[1:22] Speaker 4: what are you doing. I said, I'm just going to
[1:24] Speaker 4: go back soon now I'll get on the pierce and
[1:27] Speaker 4: he was like.
[1:28] Speaker 1: Mate, don't don't do that. Come with me. So he
[1:30] Speaker 1: just retook me into his house toward it. For wow,
[1:36] Speaker 1: I'm a massive, yeah right massive? So I follow all that. Yeah,
[1:40] Speaker 1: he's that's incredible.
[1:41] Speaker 2: That that probably you were saying that. You probably didn't
[1:43] Speaker 2: realize how big.
[1:45] Speaker 1: That's when you say that's that's that's.
[1:48] Speaker 4: A big because I saw a few of the boys
[1:49] Speaker 4: at your headquarters and what are you doing? I said,
[1:51] Speaker 4: I'm going to interview that don't know what?
[1:54] Speaker 1: And they went really and I went, yeah, what was bad?
[1:58] Speaker 1: When it's when I first touched was calling.
[2:00] Speaker 3: Donna Jeffrey I got it is what he did get.
[2:07] Speaker 4: So we go along and at the end of the interview,
[2:10] Speaker 4: he just said to me, he said, oh, mate, when
[2:13] Speaker 4: you've made as much money as I have, he gives
[2:17] Speaker 4: you just buy stupid ship came and so we walk in.
[2:20] Speaker 4: The first thing is a saber toothed tiger skull that.
[2:26] Speaker 1: Was found about five hundred years ago. And he goes,
[2:28] Speaker 1: look at this.
[2:29] Speaker 4: This is a meteor that fell from space in eighteen
[2:32] Speaker 4: twenty two in Russia, this massive meteor.
[2:34] Speaker 1: And I how that cost you? Style?
[2:37] Speaker 4: I forget Dusty came reckons would have cost him aout
[2:40] Speaker 4: nine million. Michael Jordan roosy card with three.
[2:43] Speaker 1: He's some of his gambling stories are credible too, like
[2:47] Speaker 1: we're winning millions and millions of dollars.
[2:49] Speaker 4: He's a mad eight hundred thousand dollars hands and so
[2:52] Speaker 4: Caesar's Palace. They've got the gambling floor, the high rollers,
[2:56] Speaker 4: and the Dana White, the data. He's got a tunnel
[3:01] Speaker 4: that goes underneath to his own gambling this week.
[3:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, have you been heard on the punt?
[3:06] Speaker 1: You been?
[3:08] Speaker 3: I had a little go just then. I was trying
[3:10] Speaker 3: to just kill half an hour. No, Joy, Joy, what's
[3:13] Speaker 3: your choice?
[3:14] Speaker 1: I've been playing roulette. I love him.
[3:16] Speaker 3: You have to think as much. I just lock into
[3:18] Speaker 3: a few numbers and just repeat, repeat, repeat.
[3:21] Speaker 2: Have you got like I said, have you got a
[3:22] Speaker 2: favorite number?
[3:23] Speaker 1: Kid's birthdays?
[3:24] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[3:25] Speaker 2: Playing number, That's that's my number.
[3:31] Speaker 1: I actually went down to the same thing I do kids,
[3:33] Speaker 1: and that was unfortunately I forgot their birthday.
[3:37] Speaker 4: But you know, this is the thing when you're playing
[3:41] Speaker 4: poker or you're playing blackjack, other people have got expectations.
[3:46] Speaker 1: I don't like that's so much pressure. I think gamblings
[3:49] Speaker 1: are singular sport. People get dark and that's my card. Yeah,
[3:55] Speaker 1: that's my money. I just you can just hey, you
[4:00] Speaker 1: mean I'm getting pretty cool. Yeah, just looking for people now,
[4:03] Speaker 1: like you know, so you know, I had.
[4:04] Speaker 3: Unbelievable career that's here and abroad, and you've moved into
[4:09] Speaker 3: McDonald's and a couple of McDonald's.
[4:11] Speaker 1: Yeah we do.
[4:12] Speaker 3: So that's been about seven years now. Yeah three stores,
[4:16] Speaker 3: got three yeah, yeah, yeah. But when I finished the
[4:20] Speaker 3: playing and fished administration stuff, I was just look for
[4:22] Speaker 3: something totally different.
[4:23] Speaker 1: So I just had probably.
[4:24] Speaker 3: About nine months for the first time really ever, nine
[4:27] Speaker 3: months of doing nothing, just talking to people. And I
[4:29] Speaker 3: did know a couple of the licensees in Newcastle just
[4:31] Speaker 3: from sponsoring the footy clup all those times.
[4:33] Speaker 1: So they're one of the guys that are quite true brought.
[4:35] Speaker 3: Up with and so they asually then stepped in a
[4:37] Speaker 3: little bit, did all the training and yeah, so what's
[4:41] Speaker 3: what's so gives it to owner McDonalds If you go
[4:43] Speaker 3: to work a certain amount of time for you.
[4:46] Speaker 1: You do, so you go through an interview process.
[4:47] Speaker 3: It's pretty so it's probably about nine months of interviews
[4:50] Speaker 3: and then then you've got to go on the store
[4:51] Speaker 3: and train for twelve months. So they started from scratch.
[4:54] Speaker 3: You've got to learn everything from scratch all the way through.
[4:56] Speaker 1: So that's just no pay, no pay, no pay.
[4:58] Speaker 5: So you would have been you're retired, and then you're
[5:01] Speaker 5: obviously an exit n a real quite well known and
[5:03] Speaker 5: you're behind the camera taking order.
[5:05] Speaker 3: That funny story. When I got approved to start the training,
[5:09] Speaker 3: they sent me to Walls and McDonald's, which is where
[5:11] Speaker 3: I grew up. I'm like, this is beautiful. I'm going
[5:13] Speaker 3: back at Walls. Then if like always at the window
[5:17] Speaker 3: and boy comes up his.
[5:18] Speaker 1: Car, he guess he gets a few of those in
[5:28] Speaker 1: your pocket picture, well gives you.
[5:31] Speaker 4: Ronnie Kurt, who's one of the original footballs, is beautiful bloke.
[5:38] Speaker 4: He tells the story that he's in his big one
[5:41] Speaker 4: Alexander and McDonald's and he's out in the car boats
[5:44] Speaker 4: early in the morning. He's up and he's just he's
[5:46] Speaker 4: in the car park and he wants to make it
[5:47] Speaker 4: look classes so he's just picking up rubbish out there
[5:49] Speaker 4: and putting it away. Anyway, this bloke comes up and
[5:52] Speaker 4: goes Ronning Kurt, he goes yeah, he goes, oh, mate, unbelievable.
[5:56] Speaker 4: He grabs his son, goes come here. It's like it's
[5:59] Speaker 4: one of the greatest lets. You know, thanks, very nice
[6:01] Speaker 4: to meet you.
[6:02] Speaker 3: And as he walks off, Ronnie here would like both
[6:05] Speaker 3: say that's why you got to get that.
[6:09] Speaker 1: That's one of the greatest players and look at him
[6:12] Speaker 1: is a vagrant.
[6:15] Speaker 3: There is various times on the train journey you go
[6:17] Speaker 3: to the your property. Yes, I mate, got through all
[6:21] Speaker 3: that and obviously yeah, it been a part of for yes,
[6:24] Speaker 3: seven years.
[6:25] Speaker 1: I forgot in the middle of it. Mate. You're an administrator,
[6:28] Speaker 1: you see.
[6:29] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that was during the time for Tigler.
[6:33] Speaker 1: But when Wayne was at the club, how was that
[6:35] Speaker 1: was a stress?
[6:36] Speaker 3: It was a whirlwind, but good a good experience in general,
[6:40] Speaker 3: you know, managing the highs and the loads of all that,
[6:42] Speaker 3: because there was difficult periods where we should because the
[6:44] Speaker 3: club has always struggled for money, and then we thought
[6:46] Speaker 3: we had all this money. That kind of didn't work out.
[6:49] Speaker 3: Wayne's there, but it was brilliant. So chief was achievement
[6:51] Speaker 3: at the time and when was the head coach. Yeah,
[6:54] Speaker 3: just absolutely brilliant just to try and to navigate the
[6:57] Speaker 3: team through that and the team probably before one become
[7:00] Speaker 3: us there. Yeah, nay, you know we had a Alix
[7:02] Speaker 3: Gooding amongst that as well. Yes, and then then they
[7:06] Speaker 3: had a real took over for a period of time
[7:07] Speaker 3: three years and then when they started the Cup of
[7:09] Speaker 3: the West group becoming unders that was I said something else.
[7:12] Speaker 1: There was like there was a lot of stuff going
[7:15] Speaker 1: going on through that time.
[7:16] Speaker 4: It must have been hard gigs because when some would happen,
[7:18] Speaker 4: first person they go to is to see Yeah, you.
[7:21] Speaker 1: Must have been a gall at the time.
[7:22] Speaker 3: Well, yeah, there was, it was. There were some really
[7:24] Speaker 3: difficult periods. But yeah, as I said, I have a
[7:27] Speaker 3: chief and Wayne it was just brilliant.
[7:29] Speaker 1: Too soon. Your guys have sooner all adversity and managed
[7:32] Speaker 1: lots of different things.
[7:33] Speaker 2: How much experience do you have like in a CEO role?
[7:36] Speaker 1: None?
[7:36] Speaker 2: Zero, So because I always think that right, like so.
[7:39] Speaker 5: Many NRL players go back and get into sort of
[7:41] Speaker 5: the business side of a club that they say that
[7:44] Speaker 5: none more than the Knights. I feel that the Knights
[7:45] Speaker 5: always welcomed so many of the old boys back. You
[7:47] Speaker 5: had no experience. So I'd been in the UK, I'd
[7:50] Speaker 5: done an NBA. You knew I was playing. So but
[7:53] Speaker 5: then when I went to the UK and finished playing
[7:56] Speaker 5: at the clubs, if you want to come back and
[7:57] Speaker 5: take on like a like a like a business development pro.
[8:00] Speaker 5: So I was doing that, which I actually enjoy it.
[8:02] Speaker 5: You go down me sponsors and stuff and actually getting Yeah,
[8:04] Speaker 5: I spent some time with him where's the player?
[8:06] Speaker 1: You know, you got to function.
[8:07] Speaker 3: You see them for five men, your hairshake and you
[8:08] Speaker 3: can't wait to sort of yeah, get out of there.
[8:11] Speaker 3: So I did that for about twelve months and then
[8:15] Speaker 3: the tingle thing came over there and I said you go.
[8:18] Speaker 3: So it was it was totally out of the blue.
[8:21] Speaker 3: But then, yeah, learn a bunch of stuff. Without that experience,
[8:23] Speaker 3: I wouldn't I wouldn't have.
[8:24] Speaker 1: Gone to the Donald's. They wouldn't have let me in
[8:26] Speaker 1: as I had. You needed some sort of business experience
[8:28] Speaker 1: to get in. First day when you walk into your
[8:30] Speaker 1: office to see it.
[8:31] Speaker 3: Was a little bit like George Kastanza where you're sitting there, Okay,
[8:35] Speaker 3: what are you working on?
[8:39] Speaker 4: I've done my first job out of school. I stopped
[8:42] Speaker 4: going man for a while, and then I got a job.
[8:45] Speaker 4: My mate said his dad ran one of the vineyards,
[8:48] Speaker 4: Golden great Vinyar. He said, they're looking for a handyman.
[8:52] Speaker 1: You'd be perfect for that. I can't do anything. What
[8:59] Speaker 1: does that? Mate? So first job I walk in the
[9:04] Speaker 1: first day that Maddy, first time we make the right one.
[9:07] Speaker 4: It's made the grass overground right on mas Broke. Can
[9:11] Speaker 4: you fix it and get out there? And I'm like, yeah, yeah,
[9:13] Speaker 4: no worries. Literally I went out the back.
[9:15] Speaker 3: And just sat on the right right on No for
[9:17] Speaker 3: two weeks, mate, like we've got a bit of a
[9:21] Speaker 3: problem and I just can't get this game.
[9:25] Speaker 6: Give.
[9:28] Speaker 4: And then at times they get there, a bus will
[9:29] Speaker 4: pull up for wine tasting, and you know, all all
[9:33] Speaker 4: the people who served on them would go in to
[9:35] Speaker 4: the to the room. And that's how you've got to
[9:37] Speaker 4: work behind the bar. People coming in, you know, didn't
[9:39] Speaker 4: taste wine and they go, oh you're doing, hello, how
[9:42] Speaker 4: you doing?
[9:43] Speaker 1: We'd like to try a nice dry white right this
[9:48] Speaker 1: one second. I'll just reading.
[9:53] Speaker 3: I was in the deepen as well. Yeah, busy time,
[9:56] Speaker 3: but learn learn a bunch, learn a lot through that period,
[9:58] Speaker 3: which is good did.
[9:59] Speaker 2: Your dad play together?
[10:00] Speaker 1: Yes, we played a lot.
[10:01] Speaker 3: How many because you didn't play with heeps? No, no,
[10:05] Speaker 3: you came in ninety six, ninety six, ninety six, ninety six, seven,
[10:10] Speaker 3: eight nine and two years are hundred.
[10:16] Speaker 4: Games we're talking about the other day. How much fun?
[10:20] Speaker 4: Like it actually didn't it didn't feel like professional.
[10:24] Speaker 1: Sport, didn't. Well.
[10:25] Speaker 3: I had the same conversation with James Grahame nowther ight
[10:27] Speaker 3: we're having a beer. I went from the Knights. One
[10:30] Speaker 3: of my thought I saw at St. Helen's and it
[10:31] Speaker 3: was exactly this home. Oh wow, in terms of just
[10:35] Speaker 3: like we had a heap of phone during the week.
[10:36] Speaker 3: Heap said, how it plays in the team, and I reckon,
[10:39] Speaker 3: we used to switch on properly for probably you.
[10:40] Speaker 1: Know, the eighty minutes every week and just get it
[10:43] Speaker 1: and just get it, Doneline.
[10:44] Speaker 3: We took the footy really seriously, but we still had
[10:46] Speaker 3: a really good time, do we the way through?
[10:49] Speaker 4: It was just so much fun. And we you know,
[10:51] Speaker 4: a bloke like Malcolm really he fed that ye like
[10:54] Speaker 4: he went in there and he just saw I remember
[10:56] Speaker 4: when he arrived he looked at us and it was
[10:58] Speaker 4: really good timing for for mal because we're all these
[11:01] Speaker 4: young guys who came through and we're just peaking. And
[11:04] Speaker 4: I remember he didn't come to the first training session.
[11:07] Speaker 4: Watched and then went to one of our assistant coaches
[11:10] Speaker 4: and said, mate, I've just coached the great you know,
[11:13] Speaker 4: the great Britain side made these blokes fucking.
[11:16] Speaker 1: Far better Adam mull and you know hurts you and Bain.
[11:22] Speaker 1: He very good, very very.
[11:24] Speaker 3: He was the one we always trained properly, didn't we
[11:26] Speaker 3: really digate physically, and then we had to help it plays,
[11:30] Speaker 3: but we had we had some times.
[11:31] Speaker 2: Because you were you were the right center, but you
[11:33] Speaker 2: were outside Dad.
[11:34] Speaker 1: Or Joey both sides.
[11:38] Speaker 4: We never played. We never played left right. We just
[11:40] Speaker 4: we just wandered around.
[11:42] Speaker 3: With many Joey did. I was on the right the
[11:43] Speaker 3: whole time, but when I first came and I just
[11:46] Speaker 3: want to plugged any hole, like so so probably ninety
[11:49] Speaker 3: six ye, Like if Madie was injured, I think he
[11:52] Speaker 3: did meet it one stage. I might have played ten games.
[11:54] Speaker 3: But then I played the wing for a while because
[11:55] Speaker 3: someone's injured, I played him at a fullback. So I
[11:57] Speaker 3: just kind of just floated around until like there was
[11:59] Speaker 3: a spot them and there was just a spot. I
[12:01] Speaker 3: never played the set as my whole waf fumtil first grade.
[12:03] Speaker 5: Really because I imagine playing outside of Matthew's quite a
[12:07] Speaker 5: I would say, a kind of soul of the brothers,
[12:10] Speaker 5: whereas Andrew probably used more of the perfectionists.
[12:14] Speaker 2: And if you did something wrong, drop a ball that
[12:16] Speaker 2: passed you would have given.
[12:17] Speaker 1: You a smile.
[12:17] Speaker 3: I reckon one of one of the only ones that
[12:18] Speaker 3: didn't get a spray from him. I don't know how
[12:20] Speaker 3: I manage that. That man he used to take probably
[12:23] Speaker 3: some of my sprays, he used to intercept them.
[12:27] Speaker 1: He's good. He could give a spray of course.
[12:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's only because the stands was that high,
[12:31] Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
[12:31] Speaker 4: And it's not funny. Like Coop said, he's perfectionists. He
[12:35] Speaker 4: expect perfection for others.
[12:36] Speaker 1: Yet he was double stands maybe from a little bit
[12:43] Speaker 1: of that. Like we had one point you. We had
[12:47] Speaker 1: you on the right and had Tomato on the left.
[12:49] Speaker 4: Remember once playing Al used to just say, sometimes if
[12:53] Speaker 4: there's an offload, we just throw it.
[12:55] Speaker 1: I remember playing the troll game one day Coops Jack
[12:57] Speaker 1: and we're playing.
[13:00] Speaker 4: It was Paramatter, playing Paramatter out the bush somewhere and
[13:04] Speaker 4: went bang and you had you caught the ball about
[13:06] Speaker 4: thirty minutes from the sideline, held a bike and did
[13:08] Speaker 4: the famous Guidi Fleck went bang through it. Honestly, twenty
[13:12] Speaker 4: five meders to Lenny beckett Len it's good.
[13:16] Speaker 1: But we always had we had good finishes too, like
[13:18] Speaker 1: that's what people talking about. Maybe I always had great
[13:20] Speaker 1: finishes like a initially was. I don't know whether people
[13:24] Speaker 1: sort of realized. I mean, we did.
[13:25] Speaker 3: We train him every day, but I'm talking electric on
[13:28] Speaker 3: another scale.
[13:29] Speaker 1: Like speak ye, not just fast line fast.
[13:31] Speaker 3: I said, I think he's as far as football fast,
[13:35] Speaker 3: the quickest ever. I think I remember like he'd go
[13:38] Speaker 3: and made you actually accelerate off a step because when
[13:41] Speaker 3: he was chasing someone made because well that's good, that's great,
[13:45] Speaker 3: it's the best example of it. But he's doing that
[13:47] Speaker 3: and train all the time. Someone like another winger get
[13:49] Speaker 3: away and he just mowed them down easily. Yeah, so
[13:52] Speaker 3: we had good We always had good finishes to do.
[13:54] Speaker 3: We always had good finishing. Tomato finish beautifully obviously, and
[13:59] Speaker 3: then tomorrow.
[14:01] Speaker 1: Well, it's funny about Albie Darren.
[14:04] Speaker 4: Alble was the complete opposite of what you're looking for
[14:08] Speaker 4: now from wingers. They speak to finish with wingers, you know,
[14:11] Speaker 4: they toil and work hard, they lead yardage and stuff
[14:13] Speaker 4: like that. And I remember about a month out from
[14:15] Speaker 4: the semi finals in ninety seven was remember Buttsy and
[14:20] Speaker 4: Chief have long at the stats, come to a meeting
[14:23] Speaker 4: and just said, we just want to say something. Turned
[14:25] Speaker 4: to Albi and said, are you freaking kidding me?
[14:28] Speaker 1: In that game you.
[14:29] Speaker 4: Had one run for two meters, And now I think
[14:32] Speaker 4: about it was which we said at the time, said yeah,
[14:36] Speaker 4: but when we need something, he win us the game.
[14:38] Speaker 4: And you go to the back end of that year
[14:40] Speaker 4: they tackle on Matt's is and of course schools that
[14:42] Speaker 4: try to win the game.
[14:44] Speaker 1: That was just that was the nature of ease game.
[14:46] Speaker 1: You're right, but in terms of the modern day winger
[14:48] Speaker 1: made that wouldn't stack up anymore. You couldn't have you
[14:53] Speaker 1: couldn't get away. But these days, but back it was
[14:55] Speaker 1: just just leave him, let him do his thing. He
[14:58] Speaker 1: winns games, your saviors games. We had to finish. I think,
[15:03] Speaker 1: of course we're on the other side.
[15:04] Speaker 2: Yeah, he won't be happy with that.
[15:06] Speaker 1: Yeah, mate, Jackie, can we just slide? Dudes? We don't
[15:13] Speaker 1: have a bag billionaires because because We used to laugh about
[15:20] Speaker 1: Duke Dud's control.
[15:21] Speaker 3: Mup I throw off for Porky and I was to
[15:23] Speaker 3: laugh when sometimes he throw out Porky's at you. You
[15:26] Speaker 3: knew he was lying. He knew that, you know he
[15:29] Speaker 3: was lying, but he just kept double down. So when
[15:31] Speaker 3: he got at the end, I was like, you know,
[15:33] Speaker 3: he was like, you know.
[15:34] Speaker 1: What am I going to move into?
[15:35] Speaker 4: And he goes, I'm going to I'm working on this,
[15:37] Speaker 4: you know, yeah, protein shake and stuff like that, and
[15:39] Speaker 4: we're like, oh, yeah, good luck.
[15:42] Speaker 1: I sold it for six.
[15:43] Speaker 4: Hundred million and held on it held on like a
[15:46] Speaker 4: fifteen percent steak.
[15:48] Speaker 3: When he goes to that, it's an incredible story. Only
[15:50] Speaker 3: he could pull it off because he was actually this
[15:52] Speaker 3: entry bloke. He'd always have these things going on and mad.
[15:55] Speaker 3: He said a lot of the time they wouldn't go
[15:56] Speaker 3: in fruition, some like this one is always stuck.
[15:58] Speaker 1: We've got it done. That's not fluking.
[16:01] Speaker 5: Didn't some of the boys just say that. He would Basically,
[16:03] Speaker 5: you guys didn't really have dieticians back then. He sort
[16:05] Speaker 5: of get up and do a lot of the dietician
[16:07] Speaker 5: stuff for you guys.
[16:08] Speaker 1: Yeah, I know. He was always like ahead of a
[16:09] Speaker 1: that stuff that's hugues.
[16:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, drive along in the car and all of a
[16:16] Speaker 3: sudden this time he goes off ding ding ding and
[16:20] Speaker 3: uh and these guys hugely guys made what's that?
[16:24] Speaker 4: He goes might just open up the thing just get
[16:26] Speaker 4: opens up and there's a block of cheese. He gets
[16:28] Speaker 4: just passed over.
[16:29] Speaker 1: Just what was his theory?
[16:33] Speaker 4: That was just he used to eat it at different times,
[16:36] Speaker 4: like protein and stuff like that. We had we'd go
[16:40] Speaker 4: on these pre season camps to to Coffs Harbor.
[16:43] Speaker 1: That was basically just a week of drinking.
[16:45] Speaker 4: And then I remember Evan Cochran, who's one of the
[16:48] Speaker 4: great characters Cocker.
[16:49] Speaker 1: He got up in the middle of the night.
[16:51] Speaker 4: He was roomed with bergs, which would have been insufferable,
[16:53] Speaker 4: and he just got go sort of fridge opens up
[16:57] Speaker 4: and he says it so this whole thing of milk
[17:00] Speaker 4: and just went boom and it was just egg whites. Right, Imagine,
[17:09] Speaker 4: how did how.
[17:09] Speaker 1: Did do just go there?
[17:10] Speaker 5: Because imagine someone who's so like important on his health,
[17:13] Speaker 5: which a lot probably ahead of its time amongst probably
[17:16] Speaker 5: one of the Loosert Center l teams.
[17:18] Speaker 1: Ever, that's a good point.
[17:19] Speaker 3: It's a good question because he was you were, the
[17:21] Speaker 3: heaviest time of a lot of things he was doing.
[17:23] Speaker 3: But he kind of fitt in that fitted well. But
[17:25] Speaker 3: he's always delivered the field. He starts a good player.
[17:27] Speaker 3: I mean if you go back on.
[17:28] Speaker 2: The did he enjoy a good time too?
[17:30] Speaker 1: Yeah, he'd be in around. He wouldn't be there for
[17:32] Speaker 1: like all he would he wouldn't he wouldn't dream, he.
[17:34] Speaker 3: Wouldn't dream, but he certainly fighting in and would always
[17:38] Speaker 3: making bit of fun.
[17:39] Speaker 1: And he was always in the around. But he was
[17:40] Speaker 1: always just take off.
[17:41] Speaker 4: And so here's the thing is in that side two
[17:44] Speaker 4: gigs was which was so good. You had a lot
[17:47] Speaker 4: of different characters, like they're all sort of blended. I
[17:50] Speaker 4: mean Robber is one. Like Robbie was a real leftist
[17:53] Speaker 4: center guy, but that was no problem. I mean the
[17:57] Speaker 4: thing was if he trained hard, played well, but didn't
[18:00] Speaker 4: matter what.
[18:01] Speaker 1: Is games like they just they got it done for
[18:02] Speaker 1: us and they were super players. Just one to do.
[18:05] Speaker 1: I remember one of his theories, was it that you
[18:07] Speaker 1: said one days you said, I've got any waights training theory. Boys,
[18:11] Speaker 1: I'm just going to go to the gym and do one.
[18:13] Speaker 1: Reply the one that's right what was behind me.
[18:18] Speaker 3: Brucey Gallop condition that who was a character himself. So
[18:22] Speaker 3: he put up and just going to the gym literally
[18:24] Speaker 3: the old lap pulled down. Yeah, put the whole thing on.
[18:26] Speaker 3: Just get bored once one, I mean we'll pack this.
[18:28] Speaker 3: Can't drive hard, so not even one rep on every end.
[18:31] Speaker 2: It's just one, just do one rep and then.
[18:33] Speaker 1: He and then just gone.
[18:35] Speaker 3: And sometimes Brucey Gallagher, who there I was thinkings to
[18:37] Speaker 3: bruce was he was a sprint coach, but.
[18:40] Speaker 4: One of one of the great characters. And megal loose,
[18:43] Speaker 4: which is sort of strange for a strength that could be.
[18:49] Speaker 3: Ever the time right, He's run for you well before
[18:51] Speaker 3: he did that about one rep, remember once on the
[18:53] Speaker 3: gym and Brucey Gallaher's going, condudes, get it down there,
[18:57] Speaker 3: get boom bag, and he's a he's about to walk out,
[19:00] Speaker 3: and he gave not today, give us one more.
[19:08] Speaker 5: Only Robbie I would do that, no one else So
[19:11] Speaker 5: only do did it, and no one else in the
[19:13] Speaker 5: team followed it.
[19:13] Speaker 3: No, we're just all doing the regular program, you know,
[19:15] Speaker 3: we be in there doing the whole ten rep things going.
[19:18] Speaker 3: Because he was just unique. Whatever he's playing like that.
[19:22] Speaker 3: You can do whatever he wants to.
[19:23] Speaker 4: Remember, Bruce Galloper at that time out of theory went like,
[19:25] Speaker 4: you know, like just getting the legs in the case.
[19:27] Speaker 4: He said, mate, today boys, we're doing four hundreds downhill.
[19:34] Speaker 4: I think here would park and we're just running downhill.
[19:39] Speaker 1: You don't even break sweat.
[19:40] Speaker 3: He was going, fantastic, boys, that's it, just roll off
[19:43] Speaker 3: the ball of feet.
[19:44] Speaker 4: Remember Brucey Gallop at one of the gas he gets
[19:47] Speaker 4: here once it was the day before the game, and
[19:50] Speaker 4: trucks from the massage table, and and in Bruce Gallagher's
[19:53] Speaker 4: mind he goes the big film needs to lift, and
[19:56] Speaker 4: he goes and he was massaging. There's a thing for
[20:00] Speaker 4: block or something. It's the hottest liniment you can put on.
[20:03] Speaker 4: It's just credit. So he gets up right and he
[20:07] Speaker 4: goes a chief. This is a few mate, when a
[20:10] Speaker 4: big one fit of myra and he drops his strides,
[20:13] Speaker 4: just tips all the wood lock in his hands and
[20:15] Speaker 4: just starts rubbing again.
[20:17] Speaker 2: The wood loss is in like then corrupt.
[20:20] Speaker 1: But but but it's off the richtsar.
[20:22] Speaker 3: It's off the richterscar and made him put it all
[20:24] Speaker 3: around his anus and his balls. An old feller. Right
[20:29] Speaker 3: about five minutes in chief looks up and.
[20:31] Speaker 1: He's literally game. He's the red yarn. Someone called an ambulance.
[20:38] Speaker 7: Game.
[20:38] Speaker 1: This was.
[20:40] Speaker 3: Call an ambulance actually, remember one of the other ones was.
[20:43] Speaker 3: This was Bruce himself. He'd be driving around. He wanted
[20:45] Speaker 3: a tricky his mind. He has been fast twitch stuff.
[20:47] Speaker 1: He'll just be.
[20:48] Speaker 3: Driving around and then all of a sudden just pull
[20:49] Speaker 3: over side the road and sprint up a hill road,
[20:52] Speaker 3: come back down and get this car drop off. Just
[20:54] Speaker 3: a trick, a tricky, one one rep effort.
[20:58] Speaker 5: There's hasn't used to do a similar thing, didn't they
[21:01] Speaker 5: Just every random point he had like plyometric hurdles in
[21:04] Speaker 5: the back.
[21:04] Speaker 1: You just pull over.
[21:05] Speaker 2: Traffic and then do it.
[21:08] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[21:08] Speaker 3: Well, his wife Chris, but they were neighbors of ours
[21:11] Speaker 3: for it for quite a while and she told me
[21:13] Speaker 3: she I don't know how good around her.
[21:14] Speaker 4: She go, yeah, we go for a Sunday right in
[21:17] Speaker 4: and drive for the kids and deserts a field on
[21:20] Speaker 4: the side of the highway. Just go bull them off
[21:22] Speaker 4: and we just sit in the cart and watch him
[21:23] Speaker 4: do eight hundreds till he spewed.
[21:26] Speaker 1: Back in the car and away he goes.
[21:27] Speaker 3: Going back to Bruce one more memberle of pre season.
[21:29] Speaker 3: You're doing like they say you do fifty hundreds today.
[21:32] Speaker 3: You know on the minute, get your head around that
[21:35] Speaker 3: the boys do like twenty twenty five. Oh Bruce, babe,
[21:38] Speaker 3: this is this is gett pretty tough boys. Give me
[21:40] Speaker 3: one more hard one in all strengthens and coaches is
[21:45] Speaker 3: just hard. You can't talk about it anything. If anything,
[21:48] Speaker 3: it's extras bruceie. You could just Bruce having his Hommy's
[21:51] Speaker 3: tired boys to be.
[21:53] Speaker 1: One more good.
[21:54] Speaker 5: That's a Powler rug Belid too, because if you let play,
[21:57] Speaker 5: if you give the plane group an inch.
[21:58] Speaker 2: They'll take them off.
[21:59] Speaker 1: You need to be years hard enough on just because
[22:01] Speaker 1: what really worked for Bruce.
[22:03] Speaker 4: And there was so much good timing in those great
[22:07] Speaker 4: years with the Knights because David Waite and Alan Bell
[22:10] Speaker 4: and alim My marm were great educators and they put
[22:12] Speaker 4: the football education and everyone.
[22:14] Speaker 1: And then mal came in.
[22:15] Speaker 4: He was an unbelievable man manager on the wind and discipline,
[22:19] Speaker 4: and then you had our strength and condition. Before Bruce
[22:22] Speaker 4: Cameme was a fellow called Ashley Jones and men brad
[22:24] Speaker 4: Thorn was talking about a black and mate he.
[22:28] Speaker 1: Just trained to sober mad memory. You said oh, we
[22:31] Speaker 1: did drive him mad, but he would.
[22:34] Speaker 4: He put a lot of work into us and really professional,
[22:37] Speaker 4: a lot of miles protty too much and then does
[22:39] Speaker 4: and then you get Bruce to come in. It was
[22:42] Speaker 4: minimalist and he think was just speed and power and
[22:45] Speaker 4: it worked in the combat room. Yeah, that's right. But
[22:47] Speaker 4: you're right about all that stuff beforehand. Definitely, because it
[22:50] Speaker 4: all comes to you know, it takes period of time
[22:53] Speaker 4: to day. But yeah, there's definitely some characters.
[22:58] Speaker 1: Whatever.
[22:59] Speaker 4: This for a strange one board that ninety seven year
[23:01] Speaker 4: when we win. So Mal Malcolm is the coach. Our
[23:03] Speaker 4: assistant coach is pet Peter Sharper thin sharp.
[23:07] Speaker 1: It was a preserve great coach.
[23:09] Speaker 4: Our assistant coach was a guy called Steve Dunstan Swede
[23:12] Speaker 4: who knew absolutely nothing about foot.
[23:15] Speaker 1: His whole job was to bring the stereosystem to the games.
[23:18] Speaker 1: Was remember one day we're playing.
[23:19] Speaker 3: Norths and Greg fire may will past you and sweet guys,
[23:22] Speaker 3: you're going to fucking covered today and goes just fucking
[23:25] Speaker 3: press play on your record, but maybe put it in
[23:30] Speaker 3: the origin job. He got put up for it, he
[23:34] Speaker 3: said his resumes. It must have been like a coach
[23:36] Speaker 3: must have been sacked from the origin term. I can't
[23:38] Speaker 3: remember who was I would have been in that period
[23:40] Speaker 3: eight and he sent his resume roll would you consider him?
[23:46] Speaker 5: He's Sweet, Sweet, the one that someone on the team
[23:49] Speaker 5: might have smashed his guitar after ninety seven that's usually
[23:52] Speaker 5: his birthday.
[23:52] Speaker 3: Yes, okay, yes, he's still cringe.
[23:57] Speaker 1: Say it were you at the birthday as you were.
[24:00] Speaker 4: I'm cringing just what I can see it at the
[24:03] Speaker 4: Western town hall. Now, what had happened was out of
[24:06] Speaker 4: myroord signed to leave to go to North. Right, he's
[24:09] Speaker 4: got anyway, Peter Shirls.
[24:11] Speaker 1: Come in sels It come in as the new back
[24:14] Speaker 1: rower anyway.
[24:17] Speaker 3: Swede told shreelsy, mate, don't worry, You're going to be
[24:22] Speaker 3: better than the other blow, you know.
[24:24] Speaker 1: And just just he just put it the wrong way.
[24:26] Speaker 1: He wasn't really having to go. It hurts. He was
[24:28] Speaker 1: trying to build shoes, bit mate, you know. Anyway hurts.
[24:30] Speaker 1: He found out about it.
[24:32] Speaker 4: So Boozie's twenty first, we're at this town hall in
[24:35] Speaker 4: Western and Sweet's up playing on his guitar. It was
[24:39] Speaker 4: like fairly Ian, fairly family heirloom and he's playing it.
[24:43] Speaker 4: You know, tell us about the guitar anyway herts. He said, hey, sweet,
[24:46] Speaker 4: would you mind me? Could I get up and do
[24:48] Speaker 4: a song with the guys? I never knew play the guitar,
[24:51] Speaker 4: So yeah, gets up on stage and he smashes like
[24:56] Speaker 4: the guitar into toothpicks.
[24:57] Speaker 3: It's just flying into the whole joint just went silent.
[25:01] Speaker 1: Everyone's just standing there like, is this really happened? This
[25:05] Speaker 1: is just so far? It was what's the age of
[25:10] Speaker 1: between you two? Like it was last sixty four now
[25:13] Speaker 1: four six years?
[25:15] Speaker 6: So was he?
[25:16] Speaker 2: You were like you were the older one in the
[25:18] Speaker 2: playing squad when you first come.
[25:19] Speaker 1: In problemly midwife the range which is chief and then
[25:25] Speaker 1: but your chief but the oldest was but sixty and
[25:30] Speaker 1: is a bit bit older. Robby using younger than me
[25:34] Speaker 1: here quite pretty soon.
[25:36] Speaker 5: I just want to ask, was because you know how
[25:38] Speaker 5: we're playing when you might be a younger guy coming
[25:40] Speaker 5: into the squad and the older guys you try to
[25:44] Speaker 5: put the put the stern word or a bit of
[25:45] Speaker 5: hazing go out.
[25:46] Speaker 2: Was there ever any of that stuff going on?
[25:48] Speaker 1: It was the opposite of that car really yeah, do
[25:50] Speaker 1: you know what?
[25:50] Speaker 3: We We took it for the super serious and particularly
[25:53] Speaker 3: particularly Dad like in terms of the way we played
[25:55] Speaker 3: and the way we trained, and the way we we
[25:57] Speaker 3: could get the most out of each other, the way
[25:59] Speaker 3: we won't playing on the off.
[26:00] Speaker 1: Float and board.
[26:01] Speaker 3: That was your dad come on, calculated really good. But
[26:05] Speaker 3: the other end it was just it was just fun.
[26:06] Speaker 3: In between all that evident, it was just mate. Some
[26:09] Speaker 3: of the we did take a spot series really and
[26:12] Speaker 3: seeing about these kids, which I look back on now
[26:14] Speaker 3: and we look back at it with pride, is the
[26:17] Speaker 3: fact that a young player could just come into our squad,
[26:19] Speaker 3: but if we're doing a video session, we could turn
[26:22] Speaker 3: we'd turn to him and say what do you think?
[26:24] Speaker 4: And he had a zook will says everybody he could
[26:27] Speaker 4: get there and say I think about that. Boys will
[26:29] Speaker 4: go okay. And Ma was like that, like it was
[26:31] Speaker 4: a really player driven team. And like the ninety seven
[26:35] Speaker 4: year is a perfect example. I said before you got
[26:38] Speaker 4: swed Hopeful origin coage. But who's reserve grade. You've got
[26:44] Speaker 4: Peter Sharp who was there and everything. As we start
[26:47] Speaker 4: preseason training, Mal goes back to England.
[26:49] Speaker 1: His dad was sick.
[26:50] Speaker 4: Mal comes back. He's only back for a few days.
[26:53] Speaker 4: He's got to go back to his mum. That whole preseason.
[26:55] Speaker 4: We just basically did by ourselves and Sharpie at the
[26:57] Speaker 4: same got pinched by Paramatta. So Malcolm Rangus had just said, you,
[27:02] Speaker 4: Blake's just the way you go. Come up the game planning,
[27:04] Speaker 4: come over the players and everything. And he came back
[27:06] Speaker 4: from England and goes, how are we going to play?
[27:08] Speaker 4: We said that that sounds good to me, and that's
[27:10] Speaker 4: that was like he was without an ego.
[27:12] Speaker 3: Yeah, he was growing because we had our boys were
[27:16] Speaker 3: Maddy and Joe were great and just working out who
[27:18] Speaker 3: was coming to me, what their strengths were, and how
[27:20] Speaker 3: do we get those strengths somehow. Because I wasn't a
[27:23] Speaker 3: traditional sham. I wasn't a big, fast or strong on
[27:25] Speaker 3: those sort of thing. So I said the boys, I'm
[27:27] Speaker 3: no good at busting through the lawn and that sort
[27:29] Speaker 3: of stuff. So they said, we'll just give you early
[27:31] Speaker 3: and you try to create something out there for us,
[27:33] Speaker 3: because we don't wanted some hells. They played the opposite way.
[27:36] Speaker 3: They were playing deep into the line and I was
[27:37] Speaker 3: catching the ball in the line. I actually can't have
[27:40] Speaker 3: an influence on this team. I'm not just training like that.
[27:43] Speaker 1: But then the boys used to say, I said, boys,
[27:45] Speaker 1: if we get a chance, sometimes just throwing a few
[27:46] Speaker 1: early balls and I'll see if I can.
[27:47] Speaker 3: Do something we started were able to do. But the
[27:50] Speaker 3: first thor or six months, I was thinking, I'm gonna
[27:52] Speaker 3: have to figure out how to play this. Yeah, slippery,
[27:55] Speaker 3: wet conditions and just ye playing in the line. So yeah,
[27:59] Speaker 3: we were.
[28:00] Speaker 5: You're like, you might be pretty humble when asked this question,
[28:04] Speaker 5: but like you pretty well have revolutionized the way that
[28:08] Speaker 5: center's played, particularly in that era, and now, like you
[28:10] Speaker 5: look back now, I don't think any rugby league player
[28:14] Speaker 5: has you know, whether it's a side step of flick pass,
[28:16] Speaker 5: obviously the gidly flick like to have that sort of
[28:19] Speaker 5: impact on a skill set, it's pretty impressed because no
[28:22] Speaker 5: one there's no one, you know, in torpedoes all that
[28:24] Speaker 5: sort of stuff. Nobody thinks of that and thinks of
[28:26] Speaker 5: one player. Whereas the flick pass, like everybody says your name.
[28:30] Speaker 3: And it's a bit bizarre because it was it just
[28:32] Speaker 3: sort of it just happened over preseason because remember during
[28:34] Speaker 3: the preseasons, maybe we've had a lot of beach footy.
[28:38] Speaker 3: So they say, once we get out and put a
[28:39] Speaker 3: jumpers on and you can't really use you for work
[28:41] Speaker 3: in the sand, and the forwards just bashing into it
[28:44] Speaker 3: and they're strong.
[28:45] Speaker 1: But Chief used to have it used to get pretty dasky.
[28:49] Speaker 3: So that just came from playing beach footy, like just
[28:51] Speaker 3: sort of parming and offload, bumping and offloading, because that's.
[28:54] Speaker 1: All beach food, isn't it. Offload?
[28:55] Speaker 3: Yeah, So then that just I just sort of carry
[28:58] Speaker 3: that into the games. I never practiced it or anything.
[29:00] Speaker 3: It just sort of was naturally sort of one of
[29:02] Speaker 3: the most played on seven. That game we played against St.
[29:05] Speaker 4: Georgia Ware that night in ninety nine, which got called
[29:08] Speaker 4: the game but the number one game of the nineties,
[29:11] Speaker 4: and the last play of the game Coops Jack is
[29:15] Speaker 4: that they've come behind and just go and try and try.
[29:18] Speaker 4: We find ourselves behind by two points and then we
[29:22] Speaker 4: did a short kickoff and scrum and the sirens about
[29:26] Speaker 4: to go. We get the scrum and ized fire the
[29:28] Speaker 4: ball to kids. The kids goes across and just goes
[29:30] Speaker 4: bang and you'll literally throw a blind flick to Albi.
[29:34] Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you would have been his speed there.
[29:37] Speaker 3: If you look at that try. They're talking about the past,
[29:39] Speaker 3: but look at the speed heard Anthony Munday coming across.
[29:42] Speaker 3: It was who was sharp like try what a bit like?
[29:46] Speaker 3: And what he did to he got around, He had
[29:48] Speaker 3: the ball in one hand and he was tiptoeing on
[29:50] Speaker 3: the deadline. Thus has come put the because you remember
[29:54] Speaker 3: we actually we had a bit of rival with St.
[29:56] Speaker 3: George during that period because remember a few Newcastle boys were.
[29:58] Speaker 1: Hades, Sarren Tracy, James, Tangles was Tangles down, you remember,
[30:03] Speaker 1: Yet for some reason we.
[30:05] Speaker 3: Just yell against their teams. And they were a really
[30:07] Speaker 3: good team as well during that period. So when they
[30:09] Speaker 3: scored to death, they were sort of carrying the game.
[30:15] Speaker 3: They scored it on a minute ago and then we're
[30:17] Speaker 3: able to get that done.
[30:18] Speaker 1: But I reckon.
[30:18] Speaker 3: That's another example of that speed that when you talk
[30:20] Speaker 3: about the tackle on Madni series.
[30:22] Speaker 1: But look at that as well. Look who was chasing
[30:24] Speaker 1: him and looks how easily he's incredible.
[30:27] Speaker 4: Gids, So listen, Gids, because we're here in Vegas, all
[30:30] Speaker 4: the boys, Newcastle boys here.
[30:32] Speaker 1: You know you've got to get down to get on
[30:34] Speaker 1: the source. The final one.
[30:35] Speaker 4: When we're talking about Malcolm and famous stories and this
[30:39] Speaker 4: is hard to believe. This is about a week or
[30:40] Speaker 4: two before the Grand Final, our great mate Stephen Crowe
[30:44] Speaker 4: and mal got in the room and had a fight
[30:48] Speaker 4: and you can see it. It still goes around. So
[30:51] Speaker 4: the night before we're all having to move after a
[30:53] Speaker 4: game and Malcolm, seeing it was armorously no one could
[30:56] Speaker 4: beat Malmnar Crowe kept taking him mind anyway, oboat him,
[31:00] Speaker 4: and then Crowey said, well, I'd like to get you
[31:02] Speaker 4: in the ring. Sometimes Malcolm rang the condition of Bruce
[31:06] Speaker 4: galliher and said, make cancel the pool session. We're going
[31:09] Speaker 4: to the gym, the boxing gym. So we turn up
[31:11] Speaker 4: there and males ready to go. So they both put
[31:13] Speaker 4: the head gears on and.
[31:15] Speaker 3: You could tell Melby think about all night. Yeah, because
[31:18] Speaker 3: he's such a ferocious competitor.
[31:21] Speaker 1: Can he be later?
[31:21] Speaker 3: And honestly just drew how old males he would have
[31:25] Speaker 3: been there. He would have been late fifties, early sixties probably,
[31:28] Speaker 3: and Crowe's twenty eight.
[31:30] Speaker 1: So he's older than you now. Yeah, he's probably the
[31:32] Speaker 1: early sixties.
[31:33] Speaker 4: What happens in the ring, because we all think it's
[31:35] Speaker 4: going to be sort of Jamar ran forward and goes
[31:38] Speaker 4: bang and then Bang hits him with a melbow. Cowe
[31:41] Speaker 4: goes back, hits he billy drops him and they just
[31:43] Speaker 4: get it actually got so nasty. It's about two minutes
[31:46] Speaker 4: ago and Chief just runs in actually has to separate.
[31:49] Speaker 6: Ye we saw just before the Grand Fire. He could
[31:52] Speaker 6: have broken, he would have he would have been even
[31:56] Speaker 6: I thought it'd be a bit of a jab thing,
[31:57] Speaker 6: and it was that intense and for disgusting. Chief just
[32:04] Speaker 6: jumps in and separates and we're all like, oh my god.
[32:06] Speaker 3: That just happened. You could see then in that moment,
[32:09] Speaker 3: just when when he should have gone into.
[32:12] Speaker 4: That or the other one was give people an idea
[32:16] Speaker 4: how big a competitor he was. Two months to finish with.
[32:19] Speaker 4: It was firstly Chief break break the record on three
[32:22] Speaker 4: thousand meters on the on the rower. And now comes
[32:25] Speaker 4: in and you know how strength our strength coach Dellas
[32:29] Speaker 4: Rose key.
[32:34] Speaker 1: Conditions. He owned the gym. We used to train the
[32:39] Speaker 1: public gym.
[32:40] Speaker 3: Public gym, so they go right over five bench press
[32:42] Speaker 3: at eight and sometimes it'd be a little old lady,
[32:44] Speaker 3: you'd have to stay there, your chiefess to sets.
[32:47] Speaker 1: You were to get on, let me dressed up. You
[32:51] Speaker 1: d used to have his Australia party barbecue his house.
[32:58] Speaker 1: That's right. I've seen them in the day when there
[33:01] Speaker 1: were kids.
[33:03] Speaker 5: There's one of Robbie O'Davis is the dressed as a
[33:05] Speaker 5: giant possum.
[33:08] Speaker 7: It was a koala and he was passed out on
[33:10] Speaker 7: the thing and hertz he said, Adam said, give us
[33:13] Speaker 7: a koala suit and dove into the pool and just
[33:16] Speaker 7: went straight at the bottom and.
[33:20] Speaker 3: You didn't had biggest from hersy was hand. He was
[33:23] Speaker 3: at the bottom of the pool. I tried to get jumping.
[33:25] Speaker 3: Wait a ton he has dressed as Dallas in the public.
[33:31] Speaker 3: It's like it's like something out of what's that cold
[33:36] Speaker 3: actually shaper actually shape. Instead he's just sitting stuff up
[33:43] Speaker 3: on the walls trying to catch the house.
[33:50] Speaker 4: When Malcolm got on there and Dallas said to Malcolm,
[33:53] Speaker 4: may chose broken the record on that, Maloes, I'm going
[33:56] Speaker 4: to boot it.
[33:57] Speaker 1: Just when Bang.
[33:58] Speaker 3: Jumped on and broke it by about a second, but
[34:03] Speaker 3: then just rolled off to the side, and they thought
[34:05] Speaker 3: he was having a heart attacks that they had to
[34:08] Speaker 3: call an ambulance taking the hospital.
[34:10] Speaker 1: Cheat if he got a heart attack. It was just
[34:12] Speaker 1: that and that pool under the water the pool.
[34:15] Speaker 4: So he was like, right, our boys, which one of
[34:17] Speaker 4: you blokes can go fifty meters underwater in a little
[34:20] Speaker 4: bit pool. Everyone's having a crack furtherest one of the
[34:23] Speaker 4: boys are about thirty five to forty meters. Mate Malin
[34:25] Speaker 4: couldn't even swim, and he goes, Maddie, let me hear togs,
[34:31] Speaker 4: so we're both going. He was just a dress really
[34:35] Speaker 4: sharp enough, didn't he Yeah, he had a shoe. Man,
[34:37] Speaker 4: give me those shorts. You can't swim. There's no way
[34:41] Speaker 4: that he didn't dive in actually just didn't push off
[34:45] Speaker 4: the wall, just submerged and took off and laughing.
[34:49] Speaker 1: There's no way.
[34:50] Speaker 4: And Mate is just going and going, and you can
[34:52] Speaker 4: see him at the twenty five meter marks.
[34:54] Speaker 1: The heads just go red and then boys start diving
[34:57] Speaker 1: on strokes, getting some ward.
[34:59] Speaker 3: It was like from sideways doing that. And then boys
[35:05] Speaker 3: started jumping because there was a bit of money on it.
[35:07] Speaker 3: And then boys started put bombs near him and things
[35:10] Speaker 3: like that, throwing off. Maybe he made it, made the
[35:12] Speaker 3: other end and got out and like again you thought
[35:15] Speaker 3: he was going to have a heart attack.
[35:17] Speaker 1: His dad. He popped up there. He was like grewen.
[35:20] Speaker 1: But he would have rather died. He would have rather
[35:22] Speaker 1: passed out. That's what we had done. Unbelievable he would
[35:24] Speaker 1: have passed out.
[35:26] Speaker 5: That's pretty like you can see why you guys are
[35:28] Speaker 5: so mentally tough, because that's your coach who was sixty
[35:30] Speaker 5: doing that like that.
[35:32] Speaker 8: Established him that he's probably the most competitive person without
[35:35] Speaker 8: a doubt, without a doubt, and he's just so respected
[35:39] Speaker 8: whenever you go, would you go somewhere to play a
[35:41] Speaker 8: game that that generation before us, just he's known as
[35:44] Speaker 8: one of the toughest men that's ever played, and so blokes.
[35:46] Speaker 4: People had just come up to be and drawn to him.
[35:49] Speaker 4: Remember he used to get there sometimes, mate. I learned
[35:51] Speaker 4: this of him. It was so because he was a
[35:53] Speaker 4: really classy, going good to people, but someone that you know,
[35:57] Speaker 4: we might be having a conversation, you know, mal and
[36:00] Speaker 4: me and kids having a yarn and some boy had
[36:02] Speaker 4: come up and.
[36:02] Speaker 3: Go get a Malcolm, here you going to get mate,
[36:04] Speaker 3: how you're doing? I remember, oh, yeah, fantastic. And we're
[36:07] Speaker 3: just stand there and he go, hey, listen, if you
[36:09] Speaker 3: don't mind, we're having a very private conversation. One of
[36:12] Speaker 3: the boy's going through a tough time. And he got
[36:15] Speaker 3: away he said, that's how you do it. Yeah, yeah,
[36:18] Speaker 3: he was pro, wasn't he like that always dressed well,
[36:20] Speaker 3: did you always He's loved to be But you never
[36:22] Speaker 3: said he was never drunk during the time past. Never
[36:24] Speaker 3: never drunk in front of us like you have two middies,
[36:27] Speaker 3: and then he had his own place where he go.
[36:29] Speaker 3: We never saw him drunk. Yeah, yeah, imagine he has
[36:35] Speaker 3: been so good.
[36:37] Speaker 2: We didn't even scratch the surface. But those stories about.
[36:40] Speaker 1: Standing, it's starting to start talking about the other stuff,
[36:42] Speaker 1: like they all come. It's just mate, it's so good.
[36:46] Speaker 3: Well mate, next year I'm going to go do an
[36:49] Speaker 3: r All three sixty as soon as I finish.
[36:52] Speaker 1: Let's have a source on Now I've.
[36:53] Speaker 3: Got a classic marke away from You're going to Eagles
[36:56] Speaker 3: Tonight's sphere. Yeah good, we want to go to the
[36:59] Speaker 3: sphere anyway we would have seen anything there. We have beenful.
[37:03] Speaker 3: Yea the timing the Eagles are beautiful and then and
[37:10] Speaker 3: then obviously yeah you.
[37:11] Speaker 4: Wait to the Eagles's bloke with real pointing is one
[37:14] Speaker 4: of my favorite rock stars of all time.
[37:18] Speaker 1: For called Joe Walsh.
[37:19] Speaker 4: Joe Walsh jumped around certain things and he actually came
[37:22] Speaker 4: out to Australia for some reason they still don't know
[37:25] Speaker 4: really want came out and played lee guitar with band
[37:27] Speaker 4: called the Party Boys. But Glaso, Dave Gluson has a
[37:32] Speaker 4: great story about Joe Walsh. So the he said of
[37:34] Speaker 4: the record company, like the Australian Hood Company, how much
[37:37] Speaker 4: do you want? And he said, mate, I just want
[37:39] Speaker 4: two pounds of cocaine right, And they're like what So anyway,
[37:44] Speaker 4: that's his payment, two pounds of pounds of cocaine. I thought,
[37:46] Speaker 4: okay that last year, the twelve months tels is here
[37:49] Speaker 4: after a month.
[37:50] Speaker 1: He remais, so I need more?
[37:52] Speaker 3: It is Joe Walsh's some miracles to not playing with
[37:56] Speaker 3: the Eagles, believe, and he's the most amazing You hear
[38:00] Speaker 3: that riff at the end of Hotel California, But that's
[38:03] Speaker 3: him and Don Felder and they were always completing who
[38:06] Speaker 3: was the best guitarist at.
[38:07] Speaker 1: The end of that when that you know that thing
[38:10] Speaker 1: going on? It's just them too free styling. It's just yeah,
[38:13] Speaker 1: sure looking forward to it.
[38:14] Speaker 5: Actually look for and lastly, where do you get the
[38:16] Speaker 5: three locations of your macors?
