[0:00] Speaker 1: Yeah, this is you're Hey, you're in a safe place.
[0:02] Speaker 1: You're in.
[0:05] Speaker 2: We'll get under it.
[0:06] Speaker 3: We're moving now. But mate, you're in the trust tree. Okay,
[0:11] Speaker 3: have a branch does before?
[0:12] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[0:12] Speaker 1: We just wish that now our class our house was
[0:15] Speaker 1: a little bit closer to you though, because, as you said,
[0:17] Speaker 1: you had to get a passport to come over. Yeah.
[0:19] Speaker 2: I had to get passport to go through customs. Got
[0:21] Speaker 2: that up through that, which is good.
[0:23] Speaker 1: Yeah, can you tell us about this for a sec?
[0:25] Speaker 1: So what exactly is it?
[0:27] Speaker 2: Serve? Up the road? Ask for ten? You've got something.
[0:35] Speaker 2: It's like a traditional Arabic drink. You know everyone back
[0:39] Speaker 2: home eleven on Jordan. Is it like vodka? It's like vodka? Yeah,
[0:43] Speaker 2: pretty much.
[0:43] Speaker 1: And you were saying because I went to have a
[0:45] Speaker 1: little swig of it, like I had a smell of it,
[0:46] Speaker 1: and you said, if you had to drink it, like
[0:49] Speaker 1: does that it will kill you?
[0:51] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[0:52] Speaker 1: Really funny.
[0:53] Speaker 3: Every culture has their drink like that, like you know,
[0:57] Speaker 3: like you look at the Russians. It's a vodka that
[1:00] Speaker 3: like people and people think that vodka was just part
[1:03] Speaker 3: of our culture, like Western culture for so long, but
[1:05] Speaker 3: it wasn't, you know, I went vodka.
[1:08] Speaker 1: When Winston Churchill, God, here we got When Winston.
[1:11] Speaker 3: Churchill went twent to Stalin and that first time and
[1:14] Speaker 3: they were going to break up the world World War two,
[1:16] Speaker 3: he came back and said he forced a drink mouth wash,
[1:20] Speaker 3: sorry hand.
[1:21] Speaker 1: Wash, which was was.
[1:24] Speaker 3: Was vodekap, but it just wasn't in the Western domain.
[1:27] Speaker 3: And you go Croatia got Wreca, You've got Hungarians got polinka.
[1:31] Speaker 3: Everyone's got that drink and just blow your head off
[1:34] Speaker 3: your shoulder.
[1:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, as you said, that's that's definitely like the Middle Eastern.
[1:38] Speaker 2: That's that's what they gave.
[1:39] Speaker 1: That's as strong as it gets.
[1:40] Speaker 2: That's a strong ninety. I think even sometimes some of
[1:43] Speaker 2: the old school Arabs they make it like, oh, it's crazy.
[1:47] Speaker 2: Even if you drink it like that now, you won't
[1:49] Speaker 2: be able.
[1:49] Speaker 1: To Like if I drank it now and then tried
[1:52] Speaker 1: to finish the potty, what I just would would I
[1:55] Speaker 1: be like?
[1:56] Speaker 2: Or could I drive the drivers? Depends? Everybody deals with
[1:59] Speaker 2: a figure.
[2:00] Speaker 1: I'm pretty hard to put the microphone up or is
[2:02] Speaker 1: it okay?
[2:03] Speaker 2: That's good?
[2:04] Speaker 1: I don't know if you've how many is this your
[2:05] Speaker 1: first party?
[2:06] Speaker 2: How many parties? Done? A few? But this is the
[2:09] Speaker 2: best one is the best one? Yeah, this is first
[2:11] Speaker 2: grade the first.
[2:13] Speaker 1: Are you are you Marini?
[2:16] Speaker 4: Yeah?
[2:16] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[2:17] Speaker 1: Yes. So your family left from around Triple up north.
[2:20] Speaker 2: No, so my mom's from a place called hot Ship
[2:22] Speaker 2: like it's I don't know exactly where it is, but
[2:25] Speaker 2: it's a bit down from Tripley I think. And but
[2:28] Speaker 2: that's from Jordan. That yeah, but that's full Jordanium. My
[2:33] Speaker 2: mom's full full Lebanese. Wow. Actually first Jordanians and a
[2:36] Speaker 2: real player, so that's cool. Yeah.
[2:39] Speaker 1: Do they have an international team?
[2:41] Speaker 2: They have international team for soccer soccer a couple of times,
[2:45] Speaker 2: but I don't think they go too good.
[2:50] Speaker 1: You're the only one.
[2:51] Speaker 3: My best made Brian Carney, who, by the way, was
[2:54] Speaker 3: the first Irishman to play in the n r L.
[2:56] Speaker 3: Well sorry Scotty good as dad was pack he was second.
[2:59] Speaker 3: But he went to Jordan by himself and went to
[3:03] Speaker 3: Petra and then after that when out in the desert
[3:05] Speaker 3: with the better one for about.
[3:07] Speaker 1: Four or five days, he said, it was unbelievable.
[3:09] Speaker 2: I definitely recommend people to go. I was actually meant
[3:11] Speaker 2: to go there last year. It ended up coming to Fruition.
[3:13] Speaker 2: But it's unbelievable. Obviously, the Petra's there, They've got the
[3:17] Speaker 2: Dead Sea, they got a lot obviously where for Christians
[3:21] Speaker 2: and stuff like that. The Jordan River which he has
[3:23] Speaker 2: got baptized. Yea, there's a few things going on there.
[3:25] Speaker 3: What were the circumstances that led to your mom and
[3:28] Speaker 3: dad coming to Australia.
[3:30] Speaker 2: Well, dad was real young. Obviously overseas it's a bit
[3:33] Speaker 2: like it is now that people come over here for
[3:36] Speaker 2: sort of a better opportunity. My dad come over and
[3:38] Speaker 2: he was like sixteen seventeen. He left his family and
[3:41] Speaker 2: sort of just started working here from a very young
[3:43] Speaker 2: age brief seventeen eighteen as a welder. And then my
[3:47] Speaker 2: mum she was his next one neighbor. And then the
[3:48] Speaker 2: rest is issue. My mum was from a similar sort
[3:50] Speaker 2: of situation, came here for a better opportunity. There's not
[3:53] Speaker 2: much work opportunity and stuff over there. A lot of
[3:55] Speaker 2: people now they got Dubai and stuff like that.
[3:58] Speaker 1: Have you got a dual passport?
[4:00] Speaker 2: No, just iz he just Australia.
[4:02] Speaker 1: Yeah, that's n't believe it.
[4:03] Speaker 3: You must, Like you think about your mum and dad
[4:05] Speaker 3: and the sacrifices they made and things like that you're
[4:08] Speaker 3: coming out I imagine at the time, you know, not
[4:12] Speaker 3: possibly not knowing the language and have to grind and work,
[4:16] Speaker 3: you know, yeah, you like it's it's pretty amazing that, Yeah.
[4:19] Speaker 2: One hundred percent. Man. Obviously they didn't come here with much,
[4:21] Speaker 2: not even not really how to speak the English and
[4:24] Speaker 2: stuff like that. Even god Rest my dad sold but
[4:26] Speaker 2: he was like freshly, like they just come here to
[4:29] Speaker 2: work and yeah, just try to do their best.
[4:31] Speaker 1: And do you listen to Middle Eastern music?
[4:34] Speaker 2: Like what's your little bit? Heaps to the boys now
[4:36] Speaker 2: like Tito Romei and that they always put it on
[4:38] Speaker 2: in the gym and that. But really, yeah, I'm not
[4:40] Speaker 2: I'm not a massive feel of it.
[4:42] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that some aer and the Middle East
[4:45] Speaker 3: was so close together far, but yeah, they love it.
[4:49] Speaker 1: Who's like the Middle Eastern artists? Who's our listeners to
[4:53] Speaker 1: go and listen to?
[4:54] Speaker 2: There's a Farrez cram something like that. Yeah, you've got
[5:00] Speaker 2: a couple of them, but I'm not good.
[5:05] Speaker 1: At But we're gonna blame youth for the whole, the.
[5:08] Speaker 2: Whole crazy crazy backlash from that then Yeah, but yeah,
[5:13] Speaker 2: obviously coming from a Lebanese but I think it's all
[5:15] Speaker 2: sort of fun and games and well.
[5:16] Speaker 3: What I'm just going to replace the bird? The bird
[5:19] Speaker 3: in basically Sydney culture, I reckon Now when someone cats
[5:22] Speaker 3: you off, I'm going.
[5:23] Speaker 1: To Maie John's just what's different nunciations?
[5:28] Speaker 2: Court? How do you? Yeah?
[5:31] Speaker 1: Because roll the tongue man, I got to live Italian. Yeah,
[5:36] Speaker 1: I'm Italian because like in a rugby league environment where
[5:41] Speaker 1: there's so many different cultures like tongue and smoon Lebanese,
[5:44] Speaker 1: you just you almost start to feel like the other
[5:47] Speaker 1: boys culture. Like I played with a lot of I
[5:49] Speaker 1: played with a lot of Kiwis and Sarmon's, and they
[5:51] Speaker 1: just teach you the swear words and everything, and you
[5:54] Speaker 1: just you know what I mean, like from the outside
[5:55] Speaker 1: looking at and people go, oh, like that's but even
[5:58] Speaker 1: though you know, like those boys aren't Lebanese, like they
[6:00] Speaker 1: actually feel Lebanese because you're around that culture all the time.
[6:03] Speaker 2: One hundred some days I come home and mister start talking.
[6:07] Speaker 2: I won't ever realize I'm putting on a bit of
[6:08] Speaker 2: a tongue. What are you talking with that? Remember the
[6:14] Speaker 2: boys all the day?
[6:15] Speaker 1: I do it all the time. Whenever I see like
[6:17] Speaker 1: whenever me and Samuela to see each other. It's like
[6:21] Speaker 1: I turn tongue.
[6:22] Speaker 3: And you look Tom from the from the waist down. Man,
[6:30] Speaker 3: It's funny like how like Tom Shank. I mean the
[6:33] Speaker 3: Sydney clubs have always been like that, Like I Tally.
[6:36] Speaker 3: I remember playing at Belmore Oval and mates, all right,
[6:43] Speaker 3: you want you've bought the drink.
[6:45] Speaker 2: But.
[6:46] Speaker 3: Yeah, like come on and like particularly the dogs, you
[6:49] Speaker 3: know that strong Lebanese and Lebanese Arab culture of Belmore,
[6:53] Speaker 3: whereas the Newcastle maybe we had the indigenous boys and
[6:56] Speaker 3: all the rest of us were just honkys. You know.
[7:01] Speaker 1: Well you had Owen Craigie who used to live with it, right.
[7:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, and yeah he lived with that. He'd lived with
[7:06] Speaker 3: Trisha and I. He's a young Indigenous player, freak. Never
[7:09] Speaker 3: seen anything like it, the talent. He won a gold
[7:12] Speaker 3: medal in the school Boy Olympics the week before he
[7:14] Speaker 3: came to us as a young guy. I played first grade,
[7:17] Speaker 3: played first grade sixteen.
[7:19] Speaker 1: Yeah for the night was it did? David with the Knight,
[7:21] Speaker 1: he played.
[7:21] Speaker 3: For the Tigers as well as he had to step
[7:24] Speaker 3: with the West Tigers went South Sydney for just just
[7:27] Speaker 3: lost his way out.
[7:28] Speaker 1: He's going good. Now he's going good but lost his
[7:31] Speaker 1: way back on his career that game over that win
[7:35] Speaker 1: over the Doggie, sorry, tily outstanding, What like what does
[7:38] Speaker 1: that mean for the for the club because it's been
[7:41] Speaker 1: it's been an up and down near for you guys.
[7:42] Speaker 1: But to get a good win over a top four side.
[7:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was obviously massive. Anytime we come across them
[7:47] Speaker 2: Western Sydney teams, mate, it's it's always a big occasion.
[7:50] Speaker 2: And obviously this this game was the only time we
[7:52] Speaker 2: has Doggies all year, and I guess there's a bit
[7:55] Speaker 2: of hype going into it and stuff like that, and
[7:57] Speaker 2: you know, boys turned up and putting the cracker before. Obviously, yeah,
[8:00] Speaker 2: good to get the results going into a buy. You
[8:03] Speaker 2: know how it's going to a buy. You play ship
[8:05] Speaker 2: and you lose a long long days the next game.
[8:10] Speaker 1: You know, and may you twilight.
[8:13] Speaker 3: And I said this to you on the show, Like
[8:16] Speaker 3: you and the boys on the couch, we we take
[8:19] Speaker 3: the piece and a bit of fun. But I'm telling
[8:21] Speaker 3: you we yeah, we sit back in the greenroom and
[8:22] Speaker 3: watch all the games and mate with why the way
[8:24] Speaker 3: you played? For a long time I remember talking and
[8:26] Speaker 3: Tivan Cleary about you did he.
[8:28] Speaker 2: Debut you, I haven't. I've actually brought into the club.
[8:31] Speaker 2: Did he left twelve months later?
[8:36] Speaker 3: I remember watching like I'll talk to young Fords sometimes
[8:41] Speaker 3: and I say, if you want to know how to
[8:43] Speaker 3: make your career and get the best out of yourselfe
[8:44] Speaker 3: to watch Alex twelve.
[8:45] Speaker 1: Number one. He's ridiculously fit.
[8:47] Speaker 3: Number two he's got good acceleration and primarily the most
[8:51] Speaker 3: important thing your good late footwork. You know, if you
[8:54] Speaker 3: get late footwork, you're always punching yourself through and getting offloads.
[8:57] Speaker 3: So good on your mate, do so good?
[8:59] Speaker 2: It means I'm from your mate. Yeah. Obviously it's been
[9:01] Speaker 2: tough like the last couple of years and stuff, But
[9:04] Speaker 2: you know, I think the club we've gone a lot
[9:06] Speaker 2: better this year than we were last year. So I
[9:08] Speaker 2: think for us it's all about improvement now.
[9:10] Speaker 1: Now, like your loyalties of the club like it must
[9:12] Speaker 1: have been, because Tigers have been under the microscope for
[9:16] Speaker 1: a long time, like it must have been. It's a
[9:18] Speaker 1: it's a good sign of your character to stay at
[9:21] Speaker 1: a club that has probably been under the pump for
[9:24] Speaker 1: side like ever since you come into first grade.
[9:26] Speaker 2: Really right, Yeah, to be honestly, like I've had a
[9:28] Speaker 2: few opportunities to leave and go when I come up
[9:32] Speaker 2: to a contract, even you know, particularly the last time
[9:34] Speaker 2: I come off contract, I sort of I was actually
[9:37] Speaker 2: I drove up to merely and I was actually speaking
[9:39] Speaker 2: of Sea Bowl and stuff like that.
[9:40] Speaker 1: But make sure to look at this.
[9:43] Speaker 2: Older just moved here with you guys have to stay
[9:46] Speaker 2: passport that dog is obviously as well. I was very
[9:49] Speaker 2: close there. But you know, for me, I'm a loyal
[9:51] Speaker 2: type of guy mate, and you know, I'm really great
[9:54] Speaker 2: for our stayed and yeah, I think you.
[9:56] Speaker 1: Know it's listening to blokes like gal who stay at
[10:01] Speaker 1: and become like one club at Sharks and they deliver
[10:03] Speaker 1: a premiership there like in a long time that they
[10:06] Speaker 1: haven't seen success. I imagine like if you guys can
[10:09] Speaker 1: and it looks like you guys going up Tigers as
[10:11] Speaker 1: a club, if you can, you know, jag a premiership
[10:13] Speaker 1: by the time you're finished playing like that had means
[10:16] Speaker 1: so much to you, I imagine one.
[10:18] Speaker 2: Hundred percent, Like you know, the club means a lot
[10:20] Speaker 2: to me. Obviously almost played there now for ten years.
[10:22] Speaker 2: I think next year you'll win with tenth season. So
[10:25] Speaker 2: if I you know, one day when I wrap it up,
[10:27] Speaker 2: I'd love to, you know, play finals and win the premiership.
[10:31] Speaker 1: And those Tigers fans they're like that the scenes when
[10:33] Speaker 1: you guys play a like art Oval and they're all
[10:36] Speaker 1: on the hill like they seem like they're passionate, like
[10:39] Speaker 1: they'll get into your if you aren't playing well, but
[10:41] Speaker 1: they're they're loyal, Like it's a good fan base to have.
[10:43] Speaker 2: One hundred percent. I think we play some of the
[10:46] Speaker 2: best footy there. Like you play a few more games there.
[10:49] Speaker 2: But yeah, like you said, man, if you're not playing well,
[10:52] Speaker 2: you get you get boot off. Playing well, they get
[10:55] Speaker 2: rolled by a.
[10:57] Speaker 3: Big bit Paramounta and the Tigers. You don't realize what
[11:02] Speaker 3: enormous support you have until you start winning. We can
[11:06] Speaker 3: get on a roll all of a sudden, like you man,
[11:09] Speaker 3: everyone comes out.
[11:10] Speaker 2: Of the woodwork.
[11:11] Speaker 3: Before before we talked further in your career, Fletcher ninety,
[11:16] Speaker 3: how much has your life changed since you started appearing
[11:19] Speaker 3: on that.
[11:19] Speaker 2: See it's crazy, you know, I might have more of
[11:25] Speaker 2: a future there than but then honest, it's been awesome man,
[11:31] Speaker 2: Like it's just good man like, especially like you know,
[11:34] Speaker 2: the Arab communities, man, they just love it, like you know,
[11:37] Speaker 2: and like it's just yeah, it's just been awesome.
[11:39] Speaker 3: Yeah, make the barbecue the other day and I had
[11:42] Speaker 3: to do podcasts see filthy mate, that was that was awesome.
[11:45] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was cracker spiel to make it mate. I
[11:47] Speaker 2: heard you got the night on the on the entry
[11:50] Speaker 2: for Customs.
[11:53] Speaker 1: Reputation Proceeds.
[11:57] Speaker 2: It was good man, it was. It was cracking out
[11:58] Speaker 2: of the boys over obviously bring him down to green
[12:01] Speaker 2: Acre and we enjoyed it. Man.
[12:03] Speaker 1: First of all, HANDI do that in the first time
[12:05] Speaker 1: Fletcher has ever been that far out. Well, Fletch thinks
[12:07] Speaker 1: like us western what like, just take us back. The
[12:14] Speaker 1: first thing you ever did with Fletchinghindi was that when
[12:16] Speaker 1: they had you Benji happy and you forgot to you
[12:19] Speaker 1: forgot the Tigers team song.
[12:21] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that was the first time. And then
[12:23] Speaker 2: to be honest, it was just that and nothing. I thought.
[12:25] Speaker 2: It was just like one of them segments. I was
[12:27] Speaker 2: just like and they started asking from these things at
[12:29] Speaker 2: me and I was just like responding how I thought
[12:31] Speaker 2: it was just of natural instinct And then next minute
[12:34] Speaker 2: I knew it blew up. And then and a few
[12:37] Speaker 2: segments later and do you.
[12:39] Speaker 1: Enjoy doing it. Do you enjoy doing that stuff? Like?
[12:41] Speaker 2: Is that made to me? It's like it's honestly, it's
[12:43] Speaker 2: like a it's honor and it's a privileged to work
[12:45] Speaker 2: with your dad and to work with fletching Heinie. Mate,
[12:48] Speaker 2: good guys, I'll look up to you.
[12:50] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[12:54] Speaker 2: And I was a parafin growing up so liked he
[12:56] Speaker 2: was like yeah.
[12:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what, like, you guys take the piss
[13:01] Speaker 1: out of him so much that probably like a lot
[13:04] Speaker 1: of the modern generation don't realize how good he was. Heindi. Yeah,
[13:09] Speaker 1: it's actually say because you guys go never won a premiership.
[13:11] Speaker 1: So people still growing up now who never saw Heindi,
[13:13] Speaker 1: we'd go like, look at this to lose he first.
[13:18] Speaker 3: Started doing our show and they started doing the flesh
[13:20] Speaker 3: and heidis and taking the piss and all that sort
[13:22] Speaker 3: of stuff. Some of Heindi's old text. When I'd run
[13:25] Speaker 3: into him, that'd say, oh, you know, we're a bit
[13:27] Speaker 3: worried about what's going on. You know, we think he
[13:29] Speaker 3: should be a serious commentator. Okay, sorry, Heindi a serious commentator.
[13:33] Speaker 3: But the other thing I said.
[13:35] Speaker 1: You know what boys think of it like this, there's
[13:37] Speaker 1: a million commentators there's me of him around, but there's
[13:40] Speaker 1: not many flesh and Heindis. That's the thing. And I
[13:42] Speaker 1: think people are screaming like ever since like the Old
[13:45] Speaker 1: Footy Show's finished, people are screaming for that sort of content,
[13:48] Speaker 1: like funny just taking the pissed up like even't had
[13:51] Speaker 1: that in a long time since the Old Footy Show finished.
[13:55] Speaker 2: It's awesome segment to watch it. I watched them guys
[13:57] Speaker 2: every week.
[13:58] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fletched Heindi and calf and Magic Ground. They're
[14:05] Speaker 1: sitting on the sideline doing sort of the alternate commentary
[14:08] Speaker 1: and the Warriors are playing and Luke Metcalfe looks over
[14:12] Speaker 1: at them not long before before full time and sees
[14:15] Speaker 1: them at full time, just goes straight over sits with
[14:18] Speaker 1: them and like just goes oh boys like going, I
[14:21] Speaker 1: love you blokes, love everything you do. And they're like
[14:23] Speaker 1: so funny. Really that's yeah, It's amazing how many of
[14:27] Speaker 1: the boys they want to do that sort of stuff,
[14:30] Speaker 1: but they they don't do it because like they're not
[14:33] Speaker 1: like not embarrassed, but they're afraid of being shamed.
[14:37] Speaker 2: To get into them.
[14:38] Speaker 1: They take the piss out of them all the time.
[14:39] Speaker 1: But there's so many like undercover funny blokes in the
[14:41] Speaker 1: NRL who just behind closed doors. They're the funniest people ever.
[14:46] Speaker 1: But then as soon as a Michael camera gets in
[14:47] Speaker 1: front of their face, they stiff and right up. Jerome
[14:50] Speaker 1: Hughes is one of them. Hughesy is one of the
[14:52] Speaker 1: funniest blokes ever. Takes piss out of everyone, and then
[14:56] Speaker 1: as soon as he has a glass of red wine,
[14:57] Speaker 1: just turns into an absolute animal. Trice said to me
[15:01] Speaker 1: once that we had the Parents weekend.
[15:05] Speaker 3: She has that guy see a player and yeah, t Hughes,
[15:09] Speaker 3: She goes, Oh my god, he's awful.
[15:11] Speaker 1: He's a champion red one right. But like him, particularly
[15:16] Speaker 1: like when he when a camera comes out, he doesn't
[15:18] Speaker 1: show that side of himself. I'm sure when the boys
[15:20] Speaker 1: finish up playing, they'll get out of their skin. The
[15:23] Speaker 1: Tigers like that bloke who's the who's the secret funny guy.
[15:27] Speaker 2: I don't know if he's a secret, but Tito ever
[15:29] Speaker 2: since he come man, he's just got everyone in the
[15:31] Speaker 2: stitches and he's got that like I don't know if
[15:34] Speaker 2: he's got that sort of comedy sort of Kevin Hart
[15:38] Speaker 2: sort of style about him, and he sort of he's
[15:41] Speaker 2: just yeah, he's awesome man, but.
[15:42] Speaker 1: He's he seems like the height, like the energy man.
[15:45] Speaker 2: He's the energy man. But every day you can't you
[15:46] Speaker 2: can't have it. You can't have a down day, bro.
[15:48] Speaker 2: You can't just walk in and just go back to work.
[15:50] Speaker 2: You just got to You got to face him, and
[15:52] Speaker 2: he gets you.
[15:53] Speaker 1: Up for it.
[15:53] Speaker 3: So I imagine sometimes you walk in the train and
[15:55] Speaker 3: you feel a little bit tired and he's starts going,
[15:57] Speaker 3: oh fuck.
[16:00] Speaker 1: I'll tell you who like undercover as well, the fine
[16:02] Speaker 1: new boys like Lato and Samuela. I play with them
[16:04] Speaker 1: at Manly. They had good value too. They are funny,
[16:08] Speaker 1: funny blokes, particularly Samuela. His parents are so nice.
[16:12] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[16:13] Speaker 1: Also nice people in Jordan and Jurdah for a bit
[16:16] Speaker 1: the last few years, but it's such nice.
[16:18] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[16:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, you went to paramounta Marist Yeah, params yeah, she's
[16:23] Speaker 1: great history of rugby league there.
[16:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I went to school there. Obviously grew up
[16:26] Speaker 2: in Maryland, so I was only down to the road
[16:28] Speaker 2: west Mead. But yeah, they used to be a real
[16:30] Speaker 2: mad footy school. But then I think when I come
[16:32] Speaker 2: in the Prince with torn brother, Patty sort of brushed
[16:35] Speaker 2: all the foot. He put it to the side and
[16:37] Speaker 2: started focusing on the school stuff, the education.
[16:40] Speaker 1: How do you go with academics?
[16:42] Speaker 2: I was sure. I was all right, yeah, yeah, I
[16:46] Speaker 2: don't know if you h.
[16:50] Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a bad time, but you can't remember Marris
[16:57] Speaker 3: was sort of Westfield Sports High before Westfield Sports type.
[17:00] Speaker 3: When I was coming through the old commons Pan cup mate,
[17:03] Speaker 3: they won it.
[17:04] Speaker 1: They were just stacked and there they.
[17:06] Speaker 3: Recruit get guys from all over New South Wales and
[17:09] Speaker 3: the country areas.
[17:10] Speaker 1: Was there any other NR old boys who went to
[17:12] Speaker 1: that school or sportsman Kaylors?
[17:15] Speaker 2: I thinkparentity Paul Gunn went there.
[17:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right, because he was Paramouna Jr.
[17:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, apparently he went there.
[17:24] Speaker 1: Anyone in your year might Nah.
[17:27] Speaker 2: All my mates were just knock about blokes.
[17:31] Speaker 1: Bikes.
[17:36] Speaker 3: Cooper Steady ones are lovely. They are so your paramounta junr.
[17:43] Speaker 2: On top of that, yeah, Para junior did all my
[17:45] Speaker 2: came through, all my juniors through power. We were all
[17:48] Speaker 2: successful in mates. Issue bore all that twenties and then yeah,
[17:53] Speaker 2: just like I said before, then I haven't picked up
[17:55] Speaker 2: a twenty year old.
[17:56] Speaker 1: And any like the blokes have gone on with you
[18:01] Speaker 1: to make it out of those.
[18:02] Speaker 2: Sites to I played a lot of more junior footy
[18:07] Speaker 2: with you.
[18:07] Speaker 1: Yeah, yep.
[18:08] Speaker 2: I think he's retired now, but from me hip injury,
[18:11] Speaker 2: I feel I verse most of the boys like Roamy,
[18:15] Speaker 2: are you right, Toro May versus verse that you're younger,
[18:20] Speaker 2: but he played Oh so is.
[18:21] Speaker 1: That your age group?
[18:22] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[18:22] Speaker 1: Are you born in nineteen o seven, six ninety six? Yeah, okay,
[18:25] Speaker 1: so you're still young, tailing far out. He's been around for.
[18:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, Roami, who was like all them. Yeah, it was
[18:35] Speaker 2: a massive rivalry para, especially us coming through the grades. Yeah, yeah,
[18:39] Speaker 2: it was massive.
[18:40] Speaker 1: When you have Ivan the Tigers that you only had
[18:42] Speaker 1: him for twelve months. You were saying, yeah, like could
[18:44] Speaker 1: you see him him as a coach back then? Could
[18:46] Speaker 1: you see how good he was? Like obviously he's had
[18:49] Speaker 1: so much success now, but you didn't have it as
[18:51] Speaker 1: much back down.
[18:52] Speaker 2: Yeah. To be honest, man, that year that he had us,
[18:54] Speaker 2: we ended up on twenty eight or thirty points, but
[18:56] Speaker 2: it was the tightest year in a long time. We
[18:59] Speaker 2: finished ninth, but on twenty eight points, and there was
[19:02] Speaker 2: just that falling against didn't get us in there. Man.
[19:05] Speaker 2: He was an awesome coach. I can't speak quite enough
[19:07] Speaker 2: of him. Yeah, especially as a young bloke. Just the
[19:10] Speaker 2: way he nursed me through that first year of an
[19:12] Speaker 2: RL was just it was awesome.
[19:13] Speaker 3: And then returned to Penris. But I suppose they've got
[19:18] Speaker 3: a pretty good half back. It's probably you know, yeah
[19:20] Speaker 3: as well he was actually living with the time, not
[19:22] Speaker 3: like that.
[19:24] Speaker 2: Yea.
[19:25] Speaker 1: Even see even like that the game you guys, Ver's
[19:28] Speaker 1: the Dogs. The other day, we're watching it. Remember like back
[19:30] Speaker 1: in the probably like a decade ago where basically across
[19:35] Speaker 1: the NRL there was that many gun players and they'd
[19:38] Speaker 1: all come through that Melbourne system and you were like,
[19:41] Speaker 1: oh he used to play, you know, like James Maloney's
[19:43] Speaker 1: come through the Melbourne system. Heats the boys who would
[19:45] Speaker 1: go there, their value go up. Then they'd sign as
[19:47] Speaker 1: the star player somewhere else. You see in that game
[19:50] Speaker 1: where Tiger's Verse Dogs, it was like nine or ten
[19:53] Speaker 1: Penrick games in it. Yeah, like look the may brothers
[19:57] Speaker 1: like obviously Critter and all those boys. But yeah, you
[20:00] Speaker 1: see the sliding like he's done such a good job.
[20:02] Speaker 1: But they've got so many duns out there in Penrith.
[20:04] Speaker 1: But the amount of blokes that have come through that
[20:06] Speaker 1: system now and they've just like dispersed in the NRL.
[20:10] Speaker 2: That's crazy, man, the nursery out there, Like I said before,
[20:13] Speaker 2: since we were young, like yeah, Penrith have always had
[20:15] Speaker 2: a massive great n See.
[20:17] Speaker 1: What Tailor is going to be. Tailor man is going
[20:19] Speaker 1: to be a good pick up for his Yeah going forward, mate,
[20:22] Speaker 1: he's man.
[20:23] Speaker 2: He's a powerhouse and awesome player. Man and awesome blokers
[20:27] Speaker 2: were off the field. Oh yeah, I'll get along, say,
[20:29] Speaker 2: well with both of them, you know and Tailor and
[20:32] Speaker 2: you're just awesome blokesmen off the field, and like on
[20:35] Speaker 2: the film, there's obviously athletes, especially Tailor.
[20:38] Speaker 1: He's everything pretty misunderstood a tailor, I think.
[20:42] Speaker 2: So. Yeah, he's obviously been through a lot on that
[20:44] Speaker 2: over the last sort of twenty four months. But yeah, man,
[20:47] Speaker 2: if you if you get in conversation him off the field, man,
[20:49] Speaker 2: he's most down to earth, you know, I can't speak.
[20:52] Speaker 1: I love what they're do, Like obviously they do the
[20:54] Speaker 1: potty and like vogues together to even Terrell, it's there.
[20:57] Speaker 1: I love how they embrace just how like a different
[21:00] Speaker 1: mold they are, particularly like Terrell, he acknowledges he's like
[21:04] Speaker 1: you know I'm not.
[21:04] Speaker 2: I'm not.
[21:05] Speaker 1: I'm not changing who I am to be a Rubby
[21:07] Speaker 1: League player, Like this is what I love doing. I
[21:08] Speaker 1: love logan and doing this stuff. Like he just bes
[21:11] Speaker 1: himself a.
[21:11] Speaker 2: One hundred percent man and he embraces it like you
[21:14] Speaker 2: said before me, like he's he's happy to be different.
[21:16] Speaker 2: And I think that the positive thing out of all
[21:18] Speaker 2: of this is Benji like encourages him and everyone else
[21:21] Speaker 2: to be themselves. And that's massive, man know, for him
[21:24] Speaker 2: to encourage it. And you know they're both awesome blokes
[21:26] Speaker 2: and Terror he's the funniest bloke. He's one of them
[21:29] Speaker 2: on the cover funny guys.
[21:31] Speaker 1: Cheers rang out Brenda Smith and gets I just need
[21:35] Speaker 1: to ask your favorite. I thought, geez, what's going on here?
[21:37] Speaker 3: And he said, oh mate, Terrell rang me and he
[21:40] Speaker 3: wants to come on your shower. I said, fuck yeah,
[21:42] Speaker 3: just send me his number and I rang him up
[21:44] Speaker 3: and he's like, oh mate, thanks so much.
[21:46] Speaker 1: I said, I remember when you said that. I was like,
[21:49] Speaker 1: that's I would not have picked that. I wouldn't have
[21:51] Speaker 1: to be so keen to do it.
[21:53] Speaker 2: He's a low key, funny guy, bro. He's very like,
[21:56] Speaker 2: how's Benji Young, he's gone good man, Like, yeah, I
[21:59] Speaker 2: was so happy on the weekend. I get the results
[22:01] Speaker 2: in such a good team. And you know, he's been
[22:03] Speaker 2: awesome this year, you know, especially you know with the
[22:05] Speaker 2: cars that he got dealt early with the whole Galvo
[22:07] Speaker 2: situation and had to go through it again with Hooker
[22:10] Speaker 2: and stuff like that. Mate, he just dealt with it awesome.
[22:12] Speaker 2: And yeah, yeah, I can't speA highly enough of him.
[22:16] Speaker 1: Way and do you go toil because you played with
[22:18] Speaker 1: Benji as well?
[22:19] Speaker 2: Right? Yeah? I played with him so my first so
[22:21] Speaker 2: eighteen I didn't play sorry, yeah, nineteen twenty and twenty
[22:24] Speaker 2: one so played together three years. Yeah.
[22:26] Speaker 1: How's that when you have a you have a crossroads
[22:28] Speaker 1: where you play and then he ends up being your coach?
[22:30] Speaker 1: Is that kind of weird?
[22:31] Speaker 2: Sometimes? Yeah? Or not really, to be honest, I always
[22:34] Speaker 2: stay in touch with it. When he left and he
[22:35] Speaker 2: was working out Fox, I stay in touch with him.
[22:37] Speaker 2: But probably the element there that's like at the start,
[22:40] Speaker 2: I was like we used to play together, yeah, you know,
[22:42] Speaker 2: But in saying that, like, yeah, it's been awesome man.
[22:45] Speaker 2: We obviously have a really good relationship because we've been
[22:48] Speaker 2: together through so much.
[22:49] Speaker 1: But yeah, he seems like he's so loved by all
[22:53] Speaker 1: the players. Like I remember when Harry Grant went to
[22:56] Speaker 1: you guys on a loan and when he come back,
[22:58] Speaker 1: he was like Benji. Benji was obviously playing with his then,
[23:01] Speaker 1: but he was like, mate, Benji is just he just
[23:03] Speaker 1: has the whole, like he just owns the room. Like
[23:05] Speaker 1: all the boys love him. He's just the best bloke, shouts,
[23:09] Speaker 1: shouts a lot of the beers and stuff like that.
[23:11] Speaker 1: So he's us with him like he had crocodiles in
[23:15] Speaker 1: his pockets.
[23:17] Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you would have coached him as all right, Yeah,
[23:20] Speaker 3: I a little bit in two thousand and five.
[23:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, the back end of that year did a little bit.
[23:24] Speaker 1: He was It was really it was really good. At
[23:28] Speaker 1: that side.
[23:28] Speaker 3: They had the harsh combination was he and Scotty Prince
[23:32] Speaker 3: Prince He was more the student of the game. Benji
[23:35] Speaker 3: back in those days was just a free wheeler and tunes.
[23:38] Speaker 3: He was happy to do that. Like you know, most
[23:40] Speaker 3: of the coaching I did was with Princey as far
[23:42] Speaker 3: as he's kicking. But with Benji, you know, you just
[23:45] Speaker 3: let him be Benji.
[23:46] Speaker 1: He was the maverick. You know, he was the one
[23:48] Speaker 1: that sort of made give the side a complete completely
[23:51] Speaker 1: different point of difference to the rest, but made he's
[23:56] Speaker 1: done a good job a tier. He's done a good job.
[23:58] Speaker 1: Made he should tackle the players more because since she
[24:00] Speaker 1: tackled he holy fucking oh mane two, he's on fire.
[24:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, he's been killing the frust man. Yeah. I think
[24:11] Speaker 2: over the last month of foot especially like he's been
[24:13] Speaker 2: the best player and you know, especially on the weekend man,
[24:16] Speaker 2: like he's probably the difference in a lot of ways.
[24:18] Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, he's he's just been awesome. Man. I
[24:21] Speaker 2: couldn't be happier for him.
[24:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, did you because you played you would have played
[24:24] Speaker 1: Lebanon with him before he even came to the Tigers.
[24:26] Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, yeah, so he was he was still young,
[24:28] Speaker 2: twenty seventeen. He was like, he's too younger than me,
[24:31] Speaker 2: so he would have been like maybe eighteen.
[24:32] Speaker 1: It was Freddie Fitler coach and he coach.
[24:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, and it was just by a chance that our
[24:37] Speaker 2: captain got knocked out in the woman. He was holding
[24:39] Speaker 2: the pad for one of the boys and you know,
[24:40] Speaker 2: boys run through the pad that captain was holding the pad,
[24:43] Speaker 2: and then one of the boys run too hard and
[24:45] Speaker 2: she mocked him on. I think he got stretched off
[24:48] Speaker 2: on that. So it was as was as was eighteenth man.
[24:51] Speaker 2: So Ads came in and won us the game. That game,
[24:55] Speaker 2: she scored the winning try and the rest was history.
[24:57] Speaker 2: And Freddy picked him the whole the whole tournament and
[25:00] Speaker 2: end the debut on the next year.
[25:01] Speaker 1: And did you were you coached by Michael Checker as well?
[25:05] Speaker 2: Nah? So the last World Cup I missed, But yeah,
[25:08] Speaker 2: Checks the good blog, I have a really good lad should.
[25:10] Speaker 1: Be himage, tremendous fellow Maronite.
[25:12] Speaker 2: Yeah he's a fellow. Yeah, and people people get surprised
[25:16] Speaker 2: on to people he's Lebanese, but.
[25:18] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's actually Checks Maroon Hite.
[25:21] Speaker 3: The other thing about Checked that some he's highly like.
[25:24] Speaker 3: I think he actually coach on the NRL these days,
[25:27] Speaker 3: as far as the assistance to a lot of the
[25:30] Speaker 3: works the head coaches like the real figurehead. He's a
[25:33] Speaker 3: great presence. I think he could. I think that check
[25:36] Speaker 3: where he made his money the clothing industry, in fashion,
[25:39] Speaker 3: made his money in fashion really.
[25:41] Speaker 2: For Blake the dresses so poor, he's made some money.
[25:44] Speaker 2: I'll tell you that. One time he invited us to
[25:46] Speaker 2: his house and I was thinking maybe fellow LEO will
[25:49] Speaker 2: be in green Acher early and something sent me that
[25:52] Speaker 2: address was could you I was like, up there they
[25:56] Speaker 2: mentioned I.
[25:57] Speaker 1: Remember, I remember, I need to only one mate. I
[26:01] Speaker 1: probably I would have played maybe four first grade games.
[26:04] Speaker 1: And I get a call from a random number and
[26:07] Speaker 1: it was Michael Checker and he was coaching in Japanese
[26:09] Speaker 1: rugby at the time, over Pan twenty twenty one and
[26:11] Speaker 1: we're staying up in Noosa and he was like, mate,
[26:14] Speaker 1: what's doing And I said, oh, no, not much and
[26:18] Speaker 1: he's like, mate, I'm over coaching in Japanese. Ruby, I'm
[26:20] Speaker 1: thinking about getting I need a new fly half. I
[26:22] Speaker 1: thinking about maybe bringing a league over if you're interested.
[26:25] Speaker 1: And I was like, oh mate, check it up. And
[26:28] Speaker 1: I didn't get the message clearly. He thought like, oh mate,
[26:30] Speaker 1: my time in the NL was done. And I was going, oh,
[26:33] Speaker 1: you know, check, I'm still quite young. I'd love to
[26:35] Speaker 1: chance my hand still here in the N round and
[26:37] Speaker 1: he goes, oh really, and is that funny? Is that
[26:45] Speaker 1: I appreciate you not laughing Twilight and I disrespect you?
[26:49] Speaker 1: And I was like, oh shit, okay, no mate, check
[26:52] Speaker 1: So I'll hold off. In hindsight, jeseus it would have
[26:54] Speaker 1: been a good opportunity to go over there live in
[26:56] Speaker 1: Japan for twelve months. I can imagine he must have
[26:59] Speaker 1: been ready to say, oh really, because I was talking
[27:01] Speaker 1: to Belly anyway, have a good career being coached by Madge.
[27:06] Speaker 1: How was Madge?
[27:08] Speaker 2: Yeah? It was good, man like, honestly, like speaking honestly, like,
[27:11] Speaker 2: you know, the first couple of years, Mate, we're going
[27:14] Speaker 2: really well, and I think there was a stage there.
[27:16] Speaker 2: We saw the plateau and you know, there was a
[27:18] Speaker 2: lot of media attraction and stuff like that, a lot
[27:20] Speaker 2: of pressure on the club. And to be honest, man like,
[27:23] Speaker 2: he's a really good coach. I can't speak high enough
[27:25] Speaker 2: of him, and I know he got it. It was
[27:27] Speaker 2: tough for him when he was at Tigers, you know,
[27:29] Speaker 2: with all the media and stuff like that. But but
[27:31] Speaker 2: he sort of showed me what it took to be
[27:35] Speaker 2: a first grader. Yeah right, and sort of I'm in
[27:37] Speaker 2: debt him from that sort of point of view. You know,
[27:39] Speaker 2: Army camps every year and sort of just a week
[27:42] Speaker 2: to beak grind. So I was still young obviously when
[27:44] Speaker 2: I had him, and Mate, yeah, he's an.
[27:45] Speaker 1: Awesome How were those Army camps were?
[27:48] Speaker 2: They tough, tough, really, yeah, especially I think the first one,
[27:51] Speaker 2: I was like, it was three days, but it was
[27:53] Speaker 2: just like it was relentless, no sleep, no sleep, blind
[27:59] Speaker 2: forward ye, proper, proper army care. But it was like massive,
[28:04] Speaker 2: I open up a good experience and that obviously you've
[28:06] Speaker 2: done a couple, but that first one. Man, Yes, it's.
[28:10] Speaker 1: Hard to it's actually hard to explain it to people sometimes,
[28:14] Speaker 1: just how bad, particularly the ones with no sleep, where
[28:16] Speaker 1: people are like, what, you stayed up for three days
[28:18] Speaker 1: no sleep and you're trying to explain how hard it was.
[28:20] Speaker 1: People don't get it. Yeah, it is the worst thing
[28:22] Speaker 1: in the world if you.
[28:23] Speaker 3: Make it have no sleep for three days. Most weekends
[28:26] Speaker 3: totally different. Yeah, but that's yeah. I mean like mad
[28:34] Speaker 3: just had a little bit of criticism, and like thinking
[28:37] Speaker 3: about Madge is one of the most disciplined men you'd
[28:39] Speaker 3: ever come across, and the first cousin of disciplined stubbornness,
[28:42] Speaker 3: and it takes him a lot to change his ways.
[28:45] Speaker 3: I can see he's adjusted some of his ways at
[28:48] Speaker 3: the Broncos. But as you know, there's certain non negotiables
[28:51] Speaker 3: when it comes to being a professional athlete, particularly rugular
[28:54] Speaker 3: and one is physical fitness, isn't it?
[28:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent And it was massive on that.
[28:59] Speaker 2: That and hard work, like if you didn't have them too,
[29:01] Speaker 2: like it didn't really matter how how good of a
[29:04] Speaker 2: player you were. He just he wouldn't ye, he just
[29:06] Speaker 2: wouldn't budge on them.
[29:08] Speaker 1: Two things about Harry Grant when he went there.
[29:10] Speaker 2: That was awesome obviously. I remember like it was one
[29:13] Speaker 2: game we beat the Broncos and he was getting chance
[29:16] Speaker 2: it off the field and that was obviously awesome obviously
[29:19] Speaker 2: with what he's going on to do now in the game.
[29:21] Speaker 2: To play with him and to have him at the club,
[29:23] Speaker 2: I think you know it was it was awesome.
[29:25] Speaker 1: Seemed like that year just had like a tight group,
[29:28] Speaker 1: like I think Gubby Joshy Reynolds was there as well,
[29:31] Speaker 1: Brooksy Elijah Taylor was that his last year.
[29:35] Speaker 2: He's the one. The funniest bloke really.
[29:38] Speaker 1: I've heard. I've heard he is a terrific by.
[29:40] Speaker 2: Have you you got to see he's got a page
[29:43] Speaker 2: Have you seen it? Yeah? Yeah, if you want to
[29:45] Speaker 2: get a good inside, yeah, have a look at that.
[29:48] Speaker 1: He was also that year, I think it was twenty twenty.
[29:50] Speaker 1: Was he also like practicing to be a pilot as well.
[29:54] Speaker 2: Yeah, so he was practicing to be a pilot.
[29:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he'd fly on his days off of that, yeah.
[30:00] Speaker 2: Off and that. Yeah, it was actually there's there's a
[30:03] Speaker 2: there's a couple of stories.
[30:05] Speaker 1: A couple of flying their days off as well.
[30:08] Speaker 2: Monday and the next day was it was.
[30:10] Speaker 1: I've heard that one. I was getting I remember your
[30:13] Speaker 1: guys mad Monday, the boys were facetiming me and Elijah
[30:16] Speaker 1: was there and then like he was he was flying
[30:19] Speaker 1: like a couple of days later.
[30:22] Speaker 2: Yeah, and David, Yeah, and not play long time together. Yeah, yeah,
[30:27] Speaker 2: it's yeah, it's sort of crazy how sort of he's
[30:31] Speaker 2: he's career sort of finished up, but you know, I
[30:34] Speaker 2: still got love for him.
[30:34] Speaker 1: Still still over there playing.
[30:36] Speaker 2: Yeah, still over there. Plan I'm not too sure.
[30:38] Speaker 1: It's making he bounces around from country to countries. Not
[30:41] Speaker 1: in Japan. It's like Serbia. Isn't the Contrick over there
[30:46] Speaker 1: as well?
[30:47] Speaker 2: Contric's playing that Catalan.
[30:49] Speaker 1: He's a cad I saw them, Yeah, not for is
[30:51] Speaker 1: one of the one of the one of the strangest blokes,
[30:54] Speaker 1: but one of the Melbourne He was so a breath
[31:00] Speaker 1: of fresh air from like the people that Melbourne usually recruited.
[31:05] Speaker 1: Let me just tell people, nother wouldn't have been the
[31:07] Speaker 1: normal bloke that Craig Bellamy would have signed. But no
[31:10] Speaker 1: fer he was so different to everyone that he'd like
[31:14] Speaker 1: kind of it was refreshing to the group and he
[31:16] Speaker 1: fit in really well. But he is so he's so
[31:19] Speaker 1: like what's the word he's not He's not arrogant. But
[31:23] Speaker 1: he would just say the funniest ship to belly Ache
[31:26] Speaker 1: and that Bellya could go, No, fer mate, great work
[31:29] Speaker 1: on those plus one carry mate, we need more of
[31:31] Speaker 1: it from here. And he'd be sitting at the back
[31:33] Speaker 1: of room video session and you go, belly A, come on,
[31:35] Speaker 1: I'm the no office. He goes, I'm opening three hundred
[31:37] Speaker 1: and sixty five days of a year, no public holidays.
[31:45] Speaker 2: I remember there was one session. He one year, twenty twenty.
[31:49] Speaker 2: I think you got Winger of the Year and I
[31:51] Speaker 2: come here, come in a full time. I said, you
[31:54] Speaker 2: killed it. He goes, It's just another day in the office,
[31:56] Speaker 2: but just just do something. And then there was another game.
[32:03] Speaker 2: This is another story. I don't smashed timody stories. But
[32:07] Speaker 2: we we verse rabbit o's and we got pumped and
[32:10] Speaker 2: then all right, social media did its thing and whatever
[32:14] Speaker 2: and come after him, and then it come out on
[32:17] Speaker 2: Twitter and said it wasn't my fault. It was the
[32:18] Speaker 2: forwards they had said before because he's because he's such
[32:24] Speaker 2: a good blokeer like he we just we just it
[32:27] Speaker 2: just goes down. I was in the middle of that day.
[32:29] Speaker 2: I just let it go over my head and you know,
[32:31] Speaker 2: I still love him.
[32:34] Speaker 1: What took of all places you go? What took him
[32:36] Speaker 1: to serve you anyone? I'm not sure. I see it
[32:39] Speaker 1: on his Instagram and that that he's over there. I
[32:41] Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know where. I don't know. Yeah, yeah,
[32:43] Speaker 1: this Belgrave. I don't know what he's doing over there though,
[32:46] Speaker 1: because he's he's too good. I've seen some of his highlights,
[32:49] Speaker 1: like he posted something the other day he was dead
[32:51] Speaker 1: to walking over the line scoring.
[32:53] Speaker 3: Well, it might just be lifestyle, I mean living in
[32:55] Speaker 3: the Balkans. Yeah, but enough shot mate, it's spreading around
[32:59] Speaker 3: the becoming a franchise mate.
[33:02] Speaker 1: Can you run through as well? The one hundred and
[33:05] Speaker 1: sixteen game try scoring drought, which you broke because because
[33:09] Speaker 1: that just that just turned into like the biggest thing
[33:12] Speaker 1: on social media, just like when's Alex twelg and the
[33:15] Speaker 1: score that game it was against the storm A when
[33:17] Speaker 1: you scored.
[33:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, against Storm. I think it was only try that
[33:19] Speaker 2: game as well?
[33:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, what is it was like? Yeah it was a
[33:22] Speaker 1: really low scoring game.
[33:23] Speaker 2: Aeah, no it was high score, but like scoring on now.
[33:28] Speaker 1: Did what was that? What was that feeling like when
[33:31] Speaker 1: you score?
[33:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, bro, I could look good about that. But to
[33:40] Speaker 2: be honest, obviously it was good to get the monkey
[33:42] Speaker 2: off the back, but one hundred and sixteen games.
[33:45] Speaker 1: What did it feel like for a bloke who hadn't
[33:46] Speaker 1: scored in one hundred and sixteen games? Was it like
[33:48] Speaker 1: complete foreign territory when you cross the line? Really?
[33:51] Speaker 2: I didn't know. When I got up, I was like weird,
[33:54] Speaker 2: I just like it just what it feels off the score.
[33:57] Speaker 2: But then I was I did have to do much
[33:58] Speaker 2: as well, thinking in the back head it was a shit.
[34:00] Speaker 1: I remember if you went to the video referee, if
[34:04] Speaker 1: they took it off. Yeah. I remember the try because
[34:06] Speaker 1: like someone dropped it and it just bounced up and
[34:09] Speaker 1: Clem was there, David Klemar and he like went to
[34:11] Speaker 1: lunch at it. Saw you sort of backed away and
[34:13] Speaker 1: you just like a stavy man on a burrito.
[34:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, it was. It was crazy.
[34:19] Speaker 4: I asked, did you have any did you have any
[34:21] Speaker 4: disallowed in those one hundred and sixty how many Cups
[34:23] Speaker 4: game one hundred and sixteen one hundred and sixteen games?
[34:25] Speaker 4: Did you have any that were actually disallowed by the
[34:27] Speaker 4: video ref?
[34:28] Speaker 2: I had one against camera and it was actually a
[34:30] Speaker 2: proper good try. It was like kick Chase on katchick
[34:32] Speaker 2: and then like it was like well bobbled into my
[34:35] Speaker 2: hand and I ran away and scored under the post
[34:37] Speaker 2: and they disallowed it.
[34:39] Speaker 1: You would have been did you celebrate hard?
[34:42] Speaker 2: What's that?
[34:42] Speaker 1: Did you celebrate it hard?
[34:44] Speaker 2: I thought, yeah, it was early days as well. How
[34:46] Speaker 2: good is this? I've got my first cry and I
[34:49] Speaker 2: took it off. Man, it just didn't you like?
[34:51] Speaker 1: After that first try one hundred and sixteen game one
[34:54] Speaker 1: didn't like? Was it a week or two later? You
[34:55] Speaker 1: scored another one?
[34:56] Speaker 2: A couple of weeks later? I scored against Cowboys? Yeah, yeah,
[35:00] Speaker 2: I remember the man, I remember that happens.
[35:02] Speaker 1: People were going here it comes.
[35:03] Speaker 2: And there was enough ordinary try as well. I haven't
[35:05] Speaker 2: actually scored a try. If you really want to, if
[35:07] Speaker 2: you really want to luck on it.
[35:08] Speaker 3: Down, you come close all the time in and around
[35:11] Speaker 3: the post because you've got footwork, and we all sit
[35:14] Speaker 3: because whenever the Tigers played, the boys always back at it.
[35:18] Speaker 1: Run and we'ren't be watching. They go fucking.
[35:23] Speaker 2: Yeah close. But I think, you know what, it's become
[35:25] Speaker 2: such a thing that when I think, when I come
[35:27] Speaker 2: to that sort of position to score, people just think
[35:30] Speaker 2: I'm not letting this bug score. He's never scored.
[35:34] Speaker 1: Imagine that on the like on the tip sheet where
[35:36] Speaker 1: it's got like head on a plate, you know, come up,
[35:38] Speaker 1: he's the Tigers this week. It's just your head on
[35:40] Speaker 1: a plate going.
[35:40] Speaker 2: We can't let Alex.
[35:43] Speaker 3: What about what about like your training and diet because
[35:47] Speaker 3: you mate, you're ripped. What's what's your diet?
[35:49] Speaker 2: Like? Yeah, I try to do like heaves and paleo.
[35:53] Speaker 2: I do heaps, trying to do anything like process and
[35:55] Speaker 2: stuff like that you're cooking or animal fats and stuff
[35:59] Speaker 2: like that, and he stick to like no seed oils.
[36:02] Speaker 1: Are you into that the like that carnival diet the
[36:05] Speaker 1: people do?
[36:06] Speaker 2: No, not really, because I lost my fish as well.
[36:08] Speaker 2: Like I eat a lot of like your world caught
[36:10] Speaker 2: fish and stuff like that. I try like that's eighty
[36:12] Speaker 2: percent of the time, ninety percent of the time yep,
[36:14] Speaker 2: then like yeah, ten percent of the time, sort of
[36:16] Speaker 2: just enjoy myself a.
[36:17] Speaker 3: Big I heard a story once where some of the
[36:21] Speaker 3: boys told me, you'll order a big mac or something
[36:24] Speaker 3: you wanted.
[36:24] Speaker 2: To, Yeah, you wanted to. Tim Manner's story twenty seventeen
[36:29] Speaker 2: World Cup Tom Manner before we vers tong that he goes, Bro,
[36:32] Speaker 2: you got to promise me that after the game, because
[36:36] Speaker 2: it was our final game for the tournament. He goes,
[36:38] Speaker 2: after the game, we have a big Mac together. Oh yeah, bro,
[36:43] Speaker 2: you got my work. You got my work. And then
[36:46] Speaker 2: I was eating and then he looked up. He looked
[36:47] Speaker 2: at me, and I'll pick up the big and I'm like, yea,
[36:49] Speaker 2: how good is this? And then like twenty minutes later
[36:52] Speaker 2: or something, he looks in the bin and it was
[36:54] Speaker 2: just all the bread and everything else and the meat
[36:56] Speaker 2: was missing. What are you doing? And then yeah, that
[36:59] Speaker 2: story is just stuck with you.
[37:00] Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. But there's a lot of bread
[37:02] Speaker 1: on a big mac like this, you know, I'd almost
[37:05] Speaker 1: want them to take just the middle piece out, happy
[37:08] Speaker 1: to do the double paddy. When did you become?
[37:12] Speaker 2: When did this all start?
[37:13] Speaker 1: I started this week because I've yeah, I've started. I
[37:16] Speaker 1: don't know if you you know Twilight, but I let
[37:18] Speaker 1: myself go sort of the last year and a half. Look, yeah,
[37:21] Speaker 1: I know, but I got a fast wearing baggy clothes.
[37:23] Speaker 1: By the way, I've completely lost all my muscle masks,
[37:27] Speaker 1: not that I had much to begin with that.
[37:30] Speaker 2: Do you have cheat days? Yeah, mainly after a game
[37:33] Speaker 2: or something. I'll try to join myself a bit, but
[37:37] Speaker 2: I try to sort.
[37:37] Speaker 1: Of what does enjoy yourself? Intel? For Twaley?
[37:42] Speaker 2: Just like, yeah, got a restaurant or something with my
[37:44] Speaker 2: missus or one of the boys.
[37:46] Speaker 1: And what's like what's your cheat meal? What do you get?
[37:48] Speaker 2: Mustill stay away from like deep stuff like chips now
[37:50] Speaker 2: still I won't need that sort of stuff, but like
[37:52] Speaker 2: I have a burger or something.
[37:53] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, like that mashed potato and veggies. And do
[37:57] Speaker 1: you drink alcohol?
[37:58] Speaker 2: Not really everything then, but yeah, like just definitely not,
[38:03] Speaker 2: but you're mad. I'll have a crack or wedding and
[38:07] Speaker 2: that special pasion my mates birthday or something like that.
[38:10] Speaker 1: Yeah are you are you married?
[38:12] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[38:12] Speaker 1: Yeah? See the barbecue? Yeah yeah, well I saw the
[38:15] Speaker 1: barbecue and I didn't know whether you tied or not
[38:17] Speaker 1: or not.
[38:18] Speaker 2: I was looking for some of the comments that people
[38:20] Speaker 2: were sending me. What were they punching this?
[38:26] Speaker 1: I saw because I saw your partner on there. I
[38:28] Speaker 1: just wasn't sure where because you're because you're taking your
[38:30] Speaker 1: ring off.
[38:31] Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I don't wear it. Was was getting to me,
[38:34] Speaker 2: but I said, Babe, I can't. We can't. Jewelry. Don't worry.
[38:37] Speaker 1: Dad does it all the time is wrong nightclubs.
[38:40] Speaker 3: But for me, because I wore it accidentally in the game,
[38:44] Speaker 3: I've got to take it off and just CD my finger,
[38:46] Speaker 3: so now it just actually stuck on. Really, Yeah, it's terrible.
[38:49] Speaker 2: Even if we get divorced, it's gonna stay. Yeah.
[38:54] Speaker 1: You can get them cut. You can get them like
[38:56] Speaker 1: sword off I think, or like they chain them off.
[38:59] Speaker 1: Similarly they cut you know when they cut a cast off.
[39:02] Speaker 1: Have you ever had a cast? Yeah, I've had a
[39:04] Speaker 1: cast Actually, Mate trips me out every time. Have you
[39:07] Speaker 1: seen the sow that they make to cut a cast off.
[39:09] Speaker 1: It can cut through the cast, but it can't cut
[39:11] Speaker 1: your skin. Have you seen that.
[39:14] Speaker 2: It's been a while since I've got one of them.
[39:15] Speaker 1: I've seen the test. I've seen like videos of it.
[39:17] Speaker 1: So they do it. They can't and that's why when
[39:19] Speaker 1: it hits your skin, the blades like, it can't penetrate
[39:23] Speaker 1: through skin, but it can penetrate through the plasa.
[39:25] Speaker 2: It's the same thing for the ring.
[39:26] Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's the same thing for the ring.
[39:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, to give it a correck. Trish has gone away
[39:32] Speaker 3: to the Goldie. What did the wife things when you're
[39:36] Speaker 3: going on mate? Look at all these comments? Did she
[39:38] Speaker 3: go off fantastic?
[39:39] Speaker 2: Yeah it was. It was good for her, but yeah,
[39:41] Speaker 2: not too good for me.
[39:43] Speaker 3: The confidence here's one fair When I was over at
[39:46] Speaker 3: the Olympics last year at Paris, buzz Field Buzz Rossfield
[39:50] Speaker 3: can filled in for the Family podcast in my role.
[39:53] Speaker 3: So anyway, Trish rainy and she goes, is there.
[39:59] Speaker 1: Anything I need to know? And I went like what?
[40:04] Speaker 3: And because Cooper or Jack had asked Buzz a question,
[40:06] Speaker 3: do you ever like you find.
[40:08] Speaker 1: Out Verry Verry stories? Like do you ever hide stories
[40:11] Speaker 1: from people that you know?
[40:12] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[40:12] Speaker 3: And he goes, oh, yeah, what do you say, I've
[40:14] Speaker 3: got a hold DOSSI here on your husband Matt.
[40:17] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's yeah, he'd said that, Like Buzz He
[40:21] Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I've got a couple of stories. He's like,
[40:23] Speaker 1: I've buried some of like your dad because I like him,
[40:25] Speaker 1: and we were like what what I said?
[40:27] Speaker 3: I think he's marking around Anyway. When I got through that,
[40:31] Speaker 3: I get a call from Buzz.
[40:33] Speaker 1: Mate, how are you listen? Buzz I really appreciate feeling.
[40:38] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, mate, yeah mate, I'm just ringing into state
[40:42] Speaker 3: your missus is an outstanding.
[40:45] Speaker 2: Sort thanks Buzz.
[40:51] Speaker 1: Yeah, Buzz is married, don't he?
[40:53] Speaker 2: Yes?
[40:54] Speaker 1: Yeah, so you shouldn't be a threat. You'd like to
[40:56] Speaker 1: think Buzz isn't a threat of taking missus? What if
[41:00] Speaker 1: she left me for Buzz, I'll tell you I would
[41:02] Speaker 1: no longer be on this Goodbye glouse, twilighty. Some random questions.
[41:12] Speaker 1: What's your segment?
[41:14] Speaker 3: Nah?
[41:14] Speaker 1: Just random? I was just thinking about you. Blake's in
[41:16] Speaker 1: your career and it's born off in the stories. Who knows.
[41:21] Speaker 3: The best player you've played with toy.
[41:25] Speaker 2: Say Benji Benji? Yeah, yeah, it was just like even
[41:28] Speaker 2: see him run around now, I man like some of
[41:30] Speaker 2: the stuff he does, like it's still got it. You
[41:32] Speaker 2: don't say people in our game now doing it, you
[41:34] Speaker 2: know what I mean? And even playing with him, mate,
[41:37] Speaker 2: it's just unbelievable.
[41:38] Speaker 1: Was he Like, was he hero growing up?
[41:40] Speaker 2: Like? Were you definitely one of them? Yeah, Like you'd
[41:42] Speaker 2: always go in the backyard. I remember me and my
[41:44] Speaker 2: brothers playing in the backyard and then we used to
[41:45] Speaker 2: like stepping the Benji the Marshall.
[41:49] Speaker 1: Did you try the slip past?
[41:50] Speaker 2: Yeah?
[41:53] Speaker 1: What about the best blake you've played? Again? Someone you
[41:55] Speaker 1: come up with?
[41:56] Speaker 2: God man, that he walked off. That guy is just
[41:58] Speaker 2: too good. Yeah. I'd say Desco obviously played with him
[42:03] Speaker 2: early in my career, but yeah, just like every time
[42:06] Speaker 2: I versed him, he's always been doing the s is
[42:10] Speaker 2: strong and.
[42:11] Speaker 3: He's that big across the that year very Italian that Yeah,
[42:15] Speaker 3: that year that you played with him before he ran
[42:17] Speaker 3: to the Roosters, he was like untouchable, unbelievable.
[42:20] Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I think it was his he's had. I
[42:22] Speaker 1: mean he's had unbelievable years since then, but I think
[42:26] Speaker 1: like that year for the Tigers just before he left,
[42:28] Speaker 1: it was some of the stuff he was doing. It
[42:30] Speaker 1: was like his highlights from that. He's crazy.
[42:32] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's when he sort of just started
[42:34] Speaker 2: playing origin in that as well, and just yeah, he
[42:36] Speaker 2: was unbelievable.
[42:37] Speaker 1: Who manages you tually? So you'll stay at the club.
[42:44] Speaker 1: The teammate you're closest with it, come close with all the.
[42:48] Speaker 2: Boys, like I get it wrong, really well with all
[42:50] Speaker 2: the boys. But I mean, obviously you know, he's been
[42:53] Speaker 2: there some of my highest moments, some of my lowest moments.
[42:55] Speaker 2: And yeah, built a really good connection even with his family,
[42:59] Speaker 2: his mummy's dad and my wife and we're all sort
[43:01] Speaker 2: of close to each other now.
[43:03] Speaker 3: And tally, what about mate, the teammate. If you're going
[43:07] Speaker 3: on a long haul flight, who's the one that if
[43:10] Speaker 3: you come and sat next to you went, oh fuck.
[43:14] Speaker 2: Tito. Yeah yeah, And that's imagine you're going to the
[43:19] Speaker 2: fourteen now sitting next to him and he's just in
[43:21] Speaker 2: your ear.
[43:23] Speaker 3: It's always with you, mate, Come on, dabby, mate, what
[43:31] Speaker 3: about the opponent now? Last this one of you, Jack
[43:34] Speaker 3: and your coops. Who's the opponent you come up against,
[43:37] Speaker 3: whether it be sledging, whatever reason that you just go
[43:39] Speaker 3: fuck this guy. Not not that you dislike them, but
[43:42] Speaker 3: every time you come up against me, go, man, it's
[43:44] Speaker 3: going to be hard work today, Like he's going to
[43:46] Speaker 3: be sledging and everything.
[43:48] Speaker 1: M h oh, go on, what aret you coops? Anyone
[43:51] Speaker 1: stick out?
[43:52] Speaker 2: Probably mahoney, read money.
[43:56] Speaker 1: Niggling.
[43:57] Speaker 2: If you drop a ball, he's just coming across. And yeah,
[44:00] Speaker 2: but he's a really good bloke off the field. Actually
[44:02] Speaker 2: I'm off the field, but yeah, little things like that.
[44:05] Speaker 2: But even just watching him sometimes you can just tell
[44:08] Speaker 2: people just get an yeah.
[44:10] Speaker 1: Sledging much of a thing, mate, It should be fair.
[44:12] Speaker 1: I can't even remember the last time I was. I
[44:15] Speaker 1: was well, I haven't played in a while, but I
[44:16] Speaker 1: wasn't getting sledged much when I was playing. Maybe they
[44:18] Speaker 1: felt sorry for me. I don't know.
[44:20] Speaker 2: I think they feel sorry for me.
[44:24] Speaker 1: Anyone you come up against you when man, this guy's.
[44:27] Speaker 4: One person I'll tell you what twilight he was on
[44:29] Speaker 4: the field. There's one person who was on my team
[44:31] Speaker 4: who I would hate to be against, Tyson Gamble. So
[44:36] Speaker 4: round two and twenty twenty three we played the Tigers.
[44:39] Speaker 4: In this game, everyone was getting into KP got knocked out.
[44:41] Speaker 2: Oh it was a crazy game.
[44:43] Speaker 4: And I remember so Tyson Gamble come from the Broncos
[44:46] Speaker 4: for the first time and lovely bloke, right. We all
[44:50] Speaker 4: expected him to be a bit of a rap bag,
[44:51] Speaker 4: but he was that nice and quiet. We're like, oh,
[44:54] Speaker 4: maybe it was just at the Broncos, Like he doesn't
[44:55] Speaker 4: really do it here at Newcastle whatever. He came off
[44:59] Speaker 4: the bench that day for KP because he was playing fourteen,
[45:02] Speaker 4: put up a bomb to the novice and I swear
[45:06] Speaker 4: to God, the words that come out of his mouth
[45:08] Speaker 4: I'll never be able to repeat. And the whole team
[45:11] Speaker 4: like looked at him and went, fuck, where's this bloke been?
[45:13] Speaker 2: The whole persons.
[45:15] Speaker 4: Yeah, but yeah, Like that's one player I would hate
[45:18] Speaker 4: to be on his bad side opposite him.
[45:21] Speaker 1: One that was on our side who used to sledge
[45:24] Speaker 1: horrendously at training and on the field, Will Chambers. Chamber
[45:29] Speaker 1: was the most relentless sledge I've ever seen. One time
[45:31] Speaker 1: he got suspended for five weeks and like he came over,
[45:34] Speaker 1: you know on the training side, it's like the NRL
[45:36] Speaker 1: side and then the boys who aren't playing and they
[45:37] Speaker 1: prepared the NRL side. So he was playing my center
[45:40] Speaker 1: in the non NRL side preparing during the week and
[45:43] Speaker 1: the job of that team is to basically you challenging
[45:45] Speaker 1: the NRL side, but you're just preparing them to play
[45:48] Speaker 1: good on the weekend. Chambers took it upon himself to
[45:51] Speaker 1: like emasculate everyone on the NRL side, so that they
[45:56] Speaker 1: went into the game with no confidence and they were
[46:00] Speaker 1: the worst players and the like to the point where
[46:02] Speaker 1: he was because he was a senior player and like
[46:04] Speaker 1: was so tight with belly.
[46:06] Speaker 5: He was also he was saying, like, mate, they don't
[46:08] Speaker 5: rate you're here and that, like saying ship like that
[46:11] Speaker 5: the teammates mate. He was so funny and then he'd
[46:14] Speaker 5: give us. He'd give us infant like when we're playing
[46:16] Speaker 5: Queensland Cut. He'd find out dirt on players, the opposition
[46:20] Speaker 5: players in the Queensland Cut that we're playing against, and go,
[46:23] Speaker 5: here's some stuff I found on this player if you
[46:24] Speaker 5: want to go after him.
[46:26] Speaker 1: We were like, holy ship. He was the best I've
[46:28] Speaker 1: ever seen and he was so good at it. He
[46:30] Speaker 1: put people off their game so much.
[46:32] Speaker 2: Similar yeah, oh yeah. He used to just like gound
[46:37] Speaker 2: the field and just yeah, just say some personal stuff
[46:39] Speaker 2: to blokes. I was playing with some blokes at the
[46:41] Speaker 2: time and he's just other the stuff he say, you
[46:43] Speaker 2: wouldn't you wouldn't say, you know what I mean, And
[46:45] Speaker 2: he just.
[46:47] Speaker 3: Man, what about like your favorite field in the league?
[46:51] Speaker 3: Feel yeah, field opposition, Yeah, traveling.
[46:56] Speaker 2: Favorite probably Bank West, best part of the East.
[47:01] Speaker 1: What about least favorite field the place he.
[47:05] Speaker 2: Or New Zealand. Every time we go to New Zealand.
[47:07] Speaker 1: It's it's a hard game to players.
[47:09] Speaker 3: Always wet as and cold and hard to get a
[47:12] Speaker 3: purchase on the ball.
[47:15] Speaker 2: Yeah. And then Towns.
[47:16] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's sweaty up in town. Like they hit you
[47:18] Speaker 1: around the ball, you just drop it.
[47:20] Speaker 3: This is so hard at first coming to the competition,
[47:22] Speaker 3: right first time we ever played up there. We walk
[47:25] Speaker 3: in and we go, oh, yeah, like you know, you're
[47:28] Speaker 3: in an air condition bus, hotel, into the air condition bus.
[47:31] Speaker 3: You got off the bus and you go straight into
[47:33] Speaker 3: the dressing room was air conditioned, and I'm thinking, fact,
[47:36] Speaker 3: this is okay. Then we go out for our normal
[47:39] Speaker 3: twenty to twenty five minute warm up. Mate, we come
[47:41] Speaker 3: back in and we're just completely fucked. It took us
[47:44] Speaker 3: a long while and to actually understand how we had
[47:46] Speaker 3: to play it that week.
[47:47] Speaker 1: Going north is actually like it's harder. People think playing
[47:50] Speaker 1: in the rains hard when you go north and it's
[47:53] Speaker 1: dry and the sweat gets on the ball, sweat, it's
[47:56] Speaker 1: way worse than water. That's funny because I'm a real
[47:59] Speaker 1: big here. I reckon in hot, humid conditions the leather
[48:04] Speaker 1: ball was better. It's really funny the leather ball. When
[48:07] Speaker 1: when a little bit of moisture went on the leather ball,
[48:09] Speaker 1: it actually become more tacky. But I mean if I
[48:13] Speaker 1: was pissing down a completely different piece, but I think
[48:17] Speaker 1: the synthetic ball would sweat. It's actually slips. Yeah, it's
[48:21] Speaker 1: such an advantage for those teams out there who practice
[48:23] Speaker 1: it all the time. I remember when in COVID when
[48:25] Speaker 1: we were playing at Sunshine We're based out of Sunshine
[48:27] Speaker 1: Coast and Storm was playing Cowboys and this is a
[48:32] Speaker 1: famous story. All the boys tell it to bag out
[48:34] Speaker 1: Monster all the time. And Munster like he's known for
[48:37] Speaker 1: saying ship before he even thinks about it, and he
[48:39] Speaker 1: always wants to have the last word in like right
[48:41] Speaker 1: before warm up and always I always don't know why
[48:46] Speaker 1: he wanted to the boys going right out of towns
[48:48] Speaker 1: all day. Let's you know, take him into a grind,
[48:51] Speaker 1: will beat him in the back end of the game.
[48:52] Speaker 1: They want to do the flashy stufflet's do it. And
[48:54] Speaker 1: Monster right before he goes bloody oath boys, he goes
[48:57] Speaker 1: and guess what, it's too bloody hot for him up here.
[48:59] Speaker 1: They can't handle the heat and everyone just went so
[49:02] Speaker 1: they've come down from Townsville.
[49:07] Speaker 3: Oh, who's a bloke in the shed like that? That
[49:10] Speaker 3: always hit the last word. I'll probably say my mad
[49:18] Speaker 3: funny with everyone gets in that mood to let people know.
[49:21] Speaker 3: In a dressing room, it's all different characters and there's
[49:23] Speaker 3: nothing worse before the game when everyone starts to talk
[49:26] Speaker 3: and it's like everyone and everyone's gone, and remember and
[49:29] Speaker 3: remember this, we're a bloken outside. I'm not going to
[49:31] Speaker 3: say who he is because it highly embarrassing for him.
[49:34] Speaker 3: We're playing one day and the coaches left two minute warning,
[49:39] Speaker 3: ready to go, and everyone goes and the chief Paul
[49:41] Speaker 3: Harry and the captain goes, right.
[49:43] Speaker 1: Anyone got your final words? Who's got something to say?
[49:45] Speaker 1: And this blake said, yeah, I have.
[49:47] Speaker 3: I don't know about you blokes, a really bad feeling
[49:49] Speaker 3: about today.
[49:54] Speaker 1: Just what you want to hear.
[49:56] Speaker 2: It looks like a mad bloke to play. He looks
[49:57] Speaker 2: like have you had much to do with him before? Mate?
[50:01] Speaker 1: He is one of the best, one of the best
[50:03] Speaker 1: blokes as well.
[50:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, I got a frog in my.
[50:05] Speaker 1: Throat getting all emotions. I don't know what that was vencral. Yeah, mate,
[50:10] Speaker 1: one of the best. He's just and for someone who's
[50:12] Speaker 1: so like not old, but like he's been around for
[50:15] Speaker 1: a long time, he's just he fits him with every
[50:17] Speaker 1: age group, you know what I mean, Like the eighteen
[50:19] Speaker 1: year olds that go down to Melbourne. He's he because
[50:22] Speaker 1: he's kind of got like a kid brain. So he
[50:24] Speaker 1: gets on with them, gets along with all the older boys.
[50:27] Speaker 1: He's We're at the time we come back in newyears
[50:28] Speaker 1: Zoo once and Cooper rings me and goes, where's that?
[50:32] Speaker 1: And I said, me and Mum, we're just coming back
[50:34] Speaker 1: from the harbor. He goes, heah, me and.
[50:36] Speaker 3: Monster here we're wondering the other time, get back and
[50:38] Speaker 3: have a beer. Okay, So we arrive back anyway, the
[50:41] Speaker 3: boys have got the music on, and then Trish, my wife,
[50:43] Speaker 3: she always tries to dictate the music, so she'd puts
[50:47] Speaker 3: something on Monster and change it. She puts something and
[50:49] Speaker 3: he changed it straight away, and she goes, Cameron, this
[50:52] Speaker 3: is my house if you don't mind.
[50:54] Speaker 1: He goes, time to go to bed.
[50:55] Speaker 2: To it this.
[50:58] Speaker 1: No, this story is and he feels bad because she
[51:02] Speaker 1: turned her back and I said, probably time for you
[51:05] Speaker 1: to go to bed, and she turned around. Filthy and
[51:08] Speaker 1: Munster fell on the grenade for me and said, oh, no,
[51:11] Speaker 1: I said it. I said it and then no, I
[51:13] Speaker 1: know because we kept it quiet for it because he
[51:16] Speaker 1: didn't want me to get in trouble and I was
[51:17] Speaker 1: blind and we're singing karaoke on this machine and yeah,
[51:21] Speaker 1: Mum like wouldn't have him at the house for like
[51:23] Speaker 1: ag Yeah.
[51:25] Speaker 3: She holds a grudge. My favorite favorite destination to go away?
[51:33] Speaker 2: You have a guess of that one. I've said a few.
[51:37] Speaker 1: Do you go there a lot?
[51:38] Speaker 2: No, I've been there once where it was crackout like
[51:40] Speaker 2: it's probably my favorite place i've been. I've been in
[51:41] Speaker 2: Europe of stuffs that since.
[51:44] Speaker 1: But crazy that city built in the desert. Remember when
[51:47] Speaker 1: we then did you go to the Is it the Atlantis?
[51:50] Speaker 1: That big water park there the water park?
[51:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a new hotel Atlans now app it's unbelievable,
[51:56] Speaker 2: but they just built it.
[51:57] Speaker 1: More and more people are moving there.
[51:59] Speaker 2: The water park was cracked when we.
[52:00] Speaker 1: Said, O mate, yeah, we went Dad. Dad went down
[52:04] Speaker 1: this water slide. We were too young to go on
[52:06] Speaker 1: the water like as a weight limit was like a
[52:07] Speaker 1: height limit, and Dad went down on his own and
[52:10] Speaker 1: it's the one where they said we're come on. It's
[52:14] Speaker 1: one of the ones where the floor goes out from
[52:16] Speaker 1: underneath you and you jet through and you go through
[52:18] Speaker 1: like the shark tank.
[52:19] Speaker 2: That's where I went. I went to that one in
[52:20] Speaker 2: the air that's crazy.
[52:22] Speaker 1: Dad come down, that'd say that ship down.
[52:26] Speaker 2: You have to walk up all them stairs. Yes, I
[52:28] Speaker 2: was walking up and walking down. I think the only
[52:31] Speaker 2: way you can come down is through the slide. But
[52:32] Speaker 2: then when I when I got up the top, I
[52:33] Speaker 2: realized everyone's walking because they've seen like it's dangerous.
[52:38] Speaker 1: Because you're free fall. It's a he It's like there's
[52:43] Speaker 1: there's no rules over there. So you actually don't trust
[52:45] Speaker 1: you know, like you got to water park here, you
[52:47] Speaker 1: trust the ride. Yeah, because they're not going to hurt me.
[52:50] Speaker 1: Here in Dubai, it's kind of like.
[52:51] Speaker 2: You don't know what's going on.
[52:53] Speaker 1: You need to do You need a visa in a
[52:55] Speaker 1: passport to live there, because it seems like more and
[52:56] Speaker 1: more people are going to live.
[52:59] Speaker 2: Sure, he's me go that panics no tax Yeah, yeah, right,
[53:03] Speaker 2: twelve percent or something or to.
[53:06] Speaker 1: Some people go there to hide. Yeah.
[53:10] Speaker 3: For a while, there was Martha Capital of the World,
[53:12] Speaker 3: so all the Russians, the Russian oligarchs and people involved
[53:15] Speaker 3: Russian Marchia to get on the bad side of the law.
[53:18] Speaker 3: The in Dubai and the Admirance. They say, okay, you
[53:21] Speaker 3: can come and live here, as long as you behave yourself,
[53:23] Speaker 3: you play, We're going to throw you out.
[53:24] Speaker 1: Because they want the money.
[53:26] Speaker 2: You know.
[53:26] Speaker 1: Well, they've just built this massive wave pool over there
[53:28] Speaker 1: as well. Like Joey, Joey went over there last year.
[53:31] Speaker 1: Matthew's brother Lighting hiding from the law. Yeah, he went
[53:36] Speaker 1: over there and he reckons. It's like the best wavepool
