[0:02] Speaker 1: What ship we've used all that good stuff to jeez,
[0:05] Speaker 1: what do we talk about? I know we should have
[0:07] Speaker 1: kept the mics on a half an hour ago. Bloody ell,
[0:09] Speaker 1: it's pretty hot out there. Maybe we'll do the podcast
[0:11] Speaker 1: with our shirts offt.
[0:12] Speaker 2: That sounds good.
[0:14] Speaker 1: I'll tell you what. Between Keys and you, I don't
[0:16] Speaker 1: know who'd have the burther rig because you got one
[0:18] Speaker 1: of the great rigs.
[0:19] Speaker 3: Keys, Dude, I'll tell you what. No one has ever
[0:20] Speaker 3: told me that before.
[0:23] Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I'll take it though year for a reason.
[0:26] Speaker 1: Have you seen Daddy this shirt off at the main
[0:28] Speaker 1: I haven't.
[0:28] Speaker 2: You ever seen pulp fiction?
[0:30] Speaker 3: No?
[0:32] Speaker 1: Brother, Actually, that's what I swear. His only movie reference
[0:39] Speaker 1: is always you know you obviously have you know, some
[0:41] Speaker 1: people might quite good will hunting Dad always baseline always
[0:45] Speaker 1: goes back to pulp fiction. You know, and you haven't
[0:48] Speaker 1: watched it?
[0:49] Speaker 3: No, No, you got to watch it.
[0:51] Speaker 2: Do yourself a favor, mate. It is I think in
[0:53] Speaker 2: my top three movies. Really why it's just good, incredible,
[0:58] Speaker 2: Like the dialogue from Tarantine. Like there's scenes where, say,
[1:01] Speaker 2: John Travolda's character and Samuel or Jackson, they just sit
[1:05] Speaker 2: in the car and they just start riffing and I reckon.
[1:07] Speaker 2: I don't think it's in the script. I think he
[1:08] Speaker 2: just let him go, and he's like talking about he goes,
[1:13] Speaker 2: he goes, he loves it. Quarter pound he goes, quarter pounder.
[1:16] Speaker 2: You know what they call it in France. He goes,
[1:19] Speaker 2: I don't know, quarter pounder. He goes. No, man, they
[1:22] Speaker 2: don't have the metric system. It's called a royale with cheese.
[1:25] Speaker 2: Fucking royale with cheese. Really, yeah, I'll turn nothing. They
[1:28] Speaker 2: put me and ease on that ship and the French
[1:30] Speaker 2: pise get the fuck out of here, and it just keeps.
[1:36] Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got the whole shrip down.
[1:38] Speaker 4: He did Butcher those those those words, though they weren't
[1:40] Speaker 4: exactly on par.
[1:42] Speaker 2: It was a general theme.
[1:44] Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not himself today too. He's hungover. He's not
[1:48] Speaker 1: usually we apologize, he's not usually hungover for poddies.
[1:51] Speaker 3: Man, I'm loving the stories that we've already been talking about. Like,
[1:53] Speaker 3: I'm really already settled into.
[1:55] Speaker 2: This, mister, flight this morning, did you really? Yeah? Because
[1:57] Speaker 2: I got up right, had a shower and I went
[1:59] Speaker 2: eight o'clock flight, looked on it up. I've I've set
[2:04] Speaker 2: the alarm just way too early, so then I'll just
[2:06] Speaker 2: lay down. Woke up and I've looked and gone, oh,
[2:09] Speaker 2: I'm watching Sunrise and eight forteen and camera, and I went,
[2:13] Speaker 2: get the fuck.
[2:14] Speaker 3: Out of here. You're you're a veteran. You've done this
[2:17] Speaker 3: too many times to be doing that thirty years.
[2:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, after thirty years you generally get the hangar feet.
[2:27] Speaker 1: We're going to talk through some of your footy career,
[2:28] Speaker 1: but let's start off at the present. This year seven marathons. Yeah, brother,
[2:33] Speaker 1: your bloody luna.
[2:34] Speaker 3: Have you guys ran a marathon? Yeah?
[2:36] Speaker 1: And I never will?
[2:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, city surface take that.
[2:41] Speaker 1: What's the distance of that?
[2:42] Speaker 3: It's fourteen but mate, fourteen is bloody tough, dude. Like
[2:46] Speaker 3: I remember when we were playing footy, a few of
[2:48] Speaker 3: the boys we were talking at the times and when
[2:50] Speaker 3: we were in it, we said, after footy, we're not
[2:53] Speaker 3: running ever again, Like we're done, especially when you're in
[2:56] Speaker 3: the thicker pre season. Yeah. And and fast forward like
[3:00] Speaker 3: those same lads that we were talking, like with Mitch Rain,
[3:02] Speaker 3: Anthony Don even Nathan Peters, they're all dipping their toes
[3:05] Speaker 3: in like half marathon. Then Anthony Don Don did a
[3:08] Speaker 3: marathon a couple maybe like a year and a half
[3:11] Speaker 3: two years ago. Don's quick, Don's got limbs, get out?
[3:14] Speaker 1: Yeah, John, seems like what.
[3:17] Speaker 2: So I said, you get programmed to it, you've trained
[3:19] Speaker 2: all your life, you just can't go. Well, I'm sorry.
[3:22] Speaker 2: I was going to say, you just caun't snap. But
[3:24] Speaker 2: you've many's.
[3:26] Speaker 1: Some some can some cart it's not it's all mental.
[3:29] Speaker 1: But you guys, I reckon.
[3:31] Speaker 3: That was one of the things because like when I left,
[3:33] Speaker 3: because I left pretty bit earlier than probably what like
[3:35] Speaker 3: you typically how.
[3:37] Speaker 1: Old were you? It's twenty four, twenty four, same age.
[3:40] Speaker 3: Well that's a very good twenty four club, twenty four club,
[3:46] Speaker 3: but the thirty one club. But whatever, I was like,
[3:50] Speaker 3: I don't want to I didn't want to stop training.
[3:52] Speaker 3: I still wanted to keep keep doing things. And so
[3:54] Speaker 3: I actually did the City to Serve and I met
[3:57] Speaker 3: this guy and we just you know, this guy on
[3:59] Speaker 3: the run and we just got on really well. And
[4:01] Speaker 3: it's like, after the City Surf, why don't we do
[4:03] Speaker 3: like a twenty two k like trail run and the
[4:06] Speaker 3: Blue Mount's called the UTA but it ended up getting
[4:09] Speaker 3: sold out. But there was the fifty kilometer options called
[4:11] Speaker 3: like an Ultra Ultra trail and we ended up dipping
[4:14] Speaker 3: into that, so we did the fifty kilometer rate and
[4:16] Speaker 3: then off the back of that. I don't know, there's
[4:17] Speaker 3: something about having like a little challenge, having something that
[4:21] Speaker 3: you really want to work towards, and then having like
[4:23] Speaker 3: a two to three month block, because it kind of
[4:25] Speaker 3: kind of resembles footy a little bit, especially when you're
[4:27] Speaker 3: out a bit earlier. I was like, I need a challenge,
[4:29] Speaker 3: like I needed something to do.
[4:30] Speaker 1: I suppose it does that. It's like it's almost like
[4:32] Speaker 1: why so many footy lads go into boxing, Like you
[4:35] Speaker 1: train for like a nine week block like a preseason,
[4:37] Speaker 1: You do thing, and then you got your little off
[4:38] Speaker 1: season so you can let your hair down.
[4:40] Speaker 2: As there's a thing that sits I thought originally in
[4:43] Speaker 2: the brain, but I sat next to a physicist on
[4:45] Speaker 2: the way back from portman Quoriy and he was saying, now,
[4:47] Speaker 2: this thing sits at the very top of the spine
[4:49] Speaker 2: and at the top of the nervous system, and it's
[4:51] Speaker 2: literally a muscle. Now, the muscle can grow or subtract,
[4:55] Speaker 2: and it dictates. It grows when you basically through exercise exertion,
[5:02] Speaker 2: doing things that make you uncomfortable, even the very fact
[5:05] Speaker 2: that you go, oh, you know, I just don't want
[5:07] Speaker 2: to do that, and you do it and it actually
[5:09] Speaker 2: stimulates it. Hence the fact why in retirement you should continue.
[5:13] Speaker 2: Sure the human body, particularly they sit with males, are
[5:17] Speaker 2: built are built for hard work. That's what it is.
[5:20] Speaker 2: And when you know that's why you see people can
[5:22] Speaker 2: fall into depression and things.
[5:23] Speaker 3: Like that, is that one of the things that they
[5:24] Speaker 3: talked about where you're doing something that's hard, that's actually
[5:27] Speaker 3: genuinely hard to you. Like if you like running, going
[5:30] Speaker 3: for a run might be pretty, but if you do
[5:32] Speaker 3: something they actually generally don't want to do, like if
[5:34] Speaker 3: you hate running, you're like, you know, what I'm going
[5:36] Speaker 3: to start up? Is a wonder if that's the part
[5:38] Speaker 3: of the brain.
[5:38] Speaker 2: Micro because they say dopamine, for instance, it's a scale.
[5:42] Speaker 2: So what happens these days we've got it all wrong generally,
[5:46] Speaker 2: is that what dopamine was in the scales is that
[5:50] Speaker 2: you know, to level the scales. Put it this way,
[5:52] Speaker 2: when you train really hard, as you know, you feel
[5:55] Speaker 2: good after it, that's because you're basically the scales go
[5:58] Speaker 2: to hard work and then the dope milk cut that
[6:01] Speaker 2: comes up to balance it and what happens these days.
[6:05] Speaker 2: A lot of things with depression is the fact when
[6:07] Speaker 2: people you get on the grog or you sit there
[6:09] Speaker 2: and yeah, you're on TikTok whatever it is. Young people
[6:12] Speaker 2: do TikTok that gives you an artificial hit a day
[6:19] Speaker 2: for me, and to level that up, of course, scales
[6:22] Speaker 2: drop and levels it up.
[6:24] Speaker 1: Do you want to hear something wise? A Japanese concept something
[6:27] Speaker 1: wise it's called massogui or masogi masogi masogi and learned
[6:32] Speaker 1: this in Japan, and basically their theory is once a year,
[6:36] Speaker 1: you do something for one day that's so hard mentally
[6:39] Speaker 1: and it makes the other three hundred and sixty four
[6:41] Speaker 1: days of the year seem easy. Like it makes it
[6:44] Speaker 1: feel mentally less challenging. And I I always relate it
[6:48] Speaker 1: back to when you do an army camp in like
[6:50] Speaker 1: an NRL preseason and the boys in the middle of
[6:53] Speaker 1: the going it's probably not the smart thing to do
[6:55] Speaker 1: for your body, because some boys can get hurt or
[6:57] Speaker 1: lose weight and whatnot. But like I remember literally in
[7:02] Speaker 1: games later that year after in an army camp, things
[7:05] Speaker 1: are getting so hard, you're so tired, or like you
[7:07] Speaker 1: get you've missed a few tackles and you saw and
[7:10] Speaker 1: you're like in your head, you're like, this is still
[7:12] Speaker 1: not as hard as that army camp. Like you always
[7:14] Speaker 1: you always go back to baseline. Is that's the extreme measure.
[7:17] Speaker 1: It makes everything else seem easier.
[7:18] Speaker 3: But I love that concept because people talk about like
[7:20] Speaker 3: doing hard things. I reckon people who are in that
[7:22] Speaker 3: space of doing hard things very much of the opinion that, well,
[7:26] Speaker 3: if I'm going to present myself in this scenario that
[7:29] Speaker 3: is so hard, the rest like life can be easy.
[7:31] Speaker 3: Like we overcomplicate life so much, like and we have
[7:35] Speaker 3: so many stresses in life. But if you're like, Okay,
[7:36] Speaker 3: I'm going to start up to a marathon or whatever
[7:39] Speaker 3: your thing might be. It might be a ten k,
[7:40] Speaker 3: might be a twenty k, might be an iron man.
[7:42] Speaker 3: When we put ourselves in these arenas, it's kind of like, oh,
[7:45] Speaker 3: you know, the neighbors said something to me. It's actually
[7:47] Speaker 3: probably not that big of a deal. Someone cuts you
[7:49] Speaker 3: off in traffic, It's probably not that bad. But that
[7:52] Speaker 3: masoga I've heard of that before. It's it's awesome. I
[7:55] Speaker 3: think Jeremie or Jesse Steltzer, one of the one of
[7:58] Speaker 3: this one of the runners on on Instagram, socials, whatever
[8:03] Speaker 3: you want to call it, the TikTok, the kids, these acts.
[8:05] Speaker 3: But he's an incredible entrepreneur, but he talks about him
[8:07] Speaker 3: and he does one every year, and he's like, he's like,
[8:10] Speaker 3: it should be hard enough where you can look back
[8:13] Speaker 3: in like twenty seventeen was the year that I did this,
[8:16] Speaker 3: And it might not be physical. It might be like
[8:17] Speaker 3: starting a podcast or starting a business or having a kid,
[8:20] Speaker 3: which you going to imagine could be pretty specifficultimes.
[8:23] Speaker 2: Kids child insane, lose that sort brother, I've lost it.
[8:29] Speaker 3: I lost it.
[8:29] Speaker 1: Nah. So runners through the marathon? What's seven marathon? Were you?
[8:33] Speaker 3: Are?
[8:33] Speaker 1: They all overseas?
[8:34] Speaker 3: So the seven majors, So the seven major marathons in
[8:36] Speaker 3: the world. It's like Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney which just
[8:41] Speaker 3: became a major last year, Yeah, Berlin, Chicago, New York,
[8:45] Speaker 3: so the seven. So they're like considered to be seven
[8:47] Speaker 3: majors in the world.
[8:47] Speaker 1: Are you going to like be able to go over
[8:50] Speaker 1: and sort of enjoy it, like be able to tourist these
[8:52] Speaker 1: spots as well? You're going out of there just for business.
[8:55] Speaker 3: Well, the big part of the project was a few
[8:58] Speaker 3: things like one was to be able to like I guess,
[9:00] Speaker 3: positive mental health. That's a huge part of what we
[9:02] Speaker 3: do at the podcast and psychology and promoting positive things.
[9:05] Speaker 3: So I think running is obviously the main thing, but
[9:07] Speaker 3: from a podcasting point of view, we do want to
[9:09] Speaker 3: grow more globally and we want to have conversations in
[9:12] Speaker 3: the US and the UK. So this project was just
[9:14] Speaker 3: an avenue for us to be able to do something
[9:16] Speaker 3: really hard as what we mentioned, but then also have
[9:19] Speaker 3: conversations with cool crew like all over the world. To
[9:22] Speaker 3: answer your question, we'll go in. We'll spend probably like
[9:25] Speaker 3: a week of simulating in there to do our podcast,
[9:28] Speaker 3: catch up with some crew, run the race, and then
[9:30] Speaker 3: I think we'll probably dip around, Like Tokyo's three weeks away,
[9:34] Speaker 3: so we'll bounce into a Sarka Kyoto see some cool spots.
[9:37] Speaker 3: Because you said you were just.
[9:39] Speaker 1: There, that me and Jack with there just late last year.
[9:41] Speaker 3: Man, I've never been, but I heard it's like incredible. Yea,
[9:45] Speaker 3: it is.
[9:45] Speaker 2: Literally when you arrive and you being particularly Tokyo Kyoto
[9:48] Speaker 2: is beautiful to more traditional but when you go land
[9:51] Speaker 2: in Tokyo and go around the first time you're on
[9:52] Speaker 2: a different planet, totally different. It's a it's a place
[9:56] Speaker 2: that was preserved. Do you want to hear? Do you
[9:59] Speaker 2: want to get a one minute?
[10:00] Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm fully set.
[10:02] Speaker 2: He loves it. The last bastion for Catholicism was Japan.
[10:06] Speaker 2: It was real I think it was Shinto. It's gone
[10:08] Speaker 2: back to that now. And they sent Sir Francis Avia
[10:11] Speaker 2: there I think it was sixteenth century, so he went
[10:14] Speaker 2: there in the sixteen hundred. Sorry, So he went there
[10:16] Speaker 2: and in a short period of time basically converted into
[10:19] Speaker 2: the all of the country to Catholicism. And then the
[10:21] Speaker 2: ruling parties realized that Catholicism is absolute, so they lost
[10:26] Speaker 2: their ruling power. So they went around Japan and they said,
[10:30] Speaker 2: renounce all drawing Cordia, we'll kill you. So those who
[10:34] Speaker 2: didn't wouldn't renounce, they would kill and most of the
[10:37] Speaker 2: population there renounced anyway. They didn't kill Sir franss Avia.
[10:40] Speaker 2: They sent him, put him on a boat, see you later. Gone,
[10:43] Speaker 2: And for the next two over, just over two hundred years,
[10:45] Speaker 2: they had boats circling their own island there, and anyone
[10:49] Speaker 2: who came in that was foreign, particularly if they were missionaries,
[10:51] Speaker 2: they'd just kill on the spot. And it wasn't until
[10:54] Speaker 2: the eighteen hundreds, but it was eighteen sixty two the
[10:57] Speaker 2: Industrial Revolution happened and they found out they were so
[11:00] Speaker 2: far behind the world, and they reached out to America,
[11:02] Speaker 2: and America came in and basically tried to pull pull
[11:05] Speaker 2: them into the modern world. And Kyoto was once the capital,
[11:09] Speaker 2: but when the Anks went in, they said, mate, you
[11:10] Speaker 2: need a port. They got an import and export. So
[11:13] Speaker 2: they found this tiny, little shit little village called Edo,
[11:16] Speaker 2: and that's Tokyo. Now that's the course of that preservation
[11:19] Speaker 2: over such a long period of time. You can see
[11:22] Speaker 2: you go there, that preserve culture they have. They have
[11:24] Speaker 2: maintained their culture to the nth degree, and it's just amazing.
[11:29] Speaker 4: If you want to, if you want to actually watch it,
[11:31] Speaker 4: there's a movie. Score says he did a movie twenty
[11:33] Speaker 4: sixteen called Silence with Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver And yeah,
[11:38] Speaker 4: it's a big part of it.
[11:39] Speaker 1: It's very good, is it as long as Dad explaining
[11:41] Speaker 1: it hopefully, And it's way more interesting fifty seconds that
[11:46] Speaker 1: you are so wasted on Fox League like you you
[11:49] Speaker 1: should have been on SBS or ABC years ago. Discovery Channel,
[11:53] Speaker 1: Animal waiting for to come to an animals. Can we
[11:58] Speaker 1: dive into a bit of you Rugby league stuff? So
[11:59] Speaker 1: you spoke about it before Goldie boy born and raised
[12:03] Speaker 1: and where'd you go to school?
[12:04] Speaker 3: PBC.
[12:06] Speaker 1: The juniors that are coming out of that place, what
[12:09] Speaker 1: are bloody.
[12:10] Speaker 3: Well, even like when I was When I was growing up,
[12:12] Speaker 3: it was like Ryan James, Kavy Procter, Sam Parrot, like
[12:16] Speaker 3: there were so many good crew that we looked up to.
[12:18] Speaker 3: And then even since we've when I was there, probably
[12:21] Speaker 3: similar vintage like Jerome Hughes, Kane Elger, a few of
[12:24] Speaker 3: those crew, and then the young guys that have come
[12:26] Speaker 3: up since we've left has been incredible.
[12:28] Speaker 1: Who's been there since that counter Kinney I think it was.
[12:33] Speaker 2: He was paint House Cubra.
[12:36] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I mean that whole area Goldie is actually
[12:41] Speaker 3: like a breeding ground for for young talent right coming
[12:43] Speaker 3: through give me Newcastle vibes to be honest, Like, as
[12:46] Speaker 3: I was mentioned, my mum's from Newcastle and so we
[12:49] Speaker 3: would spend a heap of time there and so every
[12:50] Speaker 3: time we would go there, it would give me a
[12:52] Speaker 3: very similar vibe between Goldie.
[12:55] Speaker 1: And new In did you got a like being your
[12:57] Speaker 1: mom being from Newcastle your Knights fan. You're a Goldie fan?
[12:59] Speaker 3: Who my grandparents were. My grandparents were all Newcastle fans
[13:03] Speaker 3: and I was mentioned like Paul Harrigan. We spent a
[13:05] Speaker 3: lot of time with them and they were so my
[13:08] Speaker 3: grandparents and his parents were like really close, and so
[13:10] Speaker 3: our parents were really close. And then us kids. We
[13:13] Speaker 3: would say if if it wasn't going to be Goldi
[13:16] Speaker 3: or Brizzy, it would have been Newcastle. I think my
[13:19] Speaker 3: mom and dad have like this little photo of my
[13:21] Speaker 3: sister and are like in Full Night Kids when we
[13:23] Speaker 3: were like full grounds.
[13:24] Speaker 1: Yeah, do they do they sort of have a favorite
[13:26] Speaker 1: player or anything like that.
[13:29] Speaker 3: I'm like sure, man, I'm not sure. I don't ask
[13:32] Speaker 3: those really pointy questions.
[13:34] Speaker 2: Look mate, you're a guest on the podcast.
[13:39] Speaker 1: Keep Yeah, because you played for the under eightings, Marines
[13:45] Speaker 1: and twenties, but you were the skipper of the eighteens.
[13:48] Speaker 1: Did you play with like was Harry Green and those
[13:50] Speaker 1: sort of lads in the origin side? Who are some
[13:52] Speaker 1: of the boys in that side?
[13:52] Speaker 3: Yeah? We Hadrimo Brimson, Harry Grant was in that side.
[13:58] Speaker 3: Who else I remember? I looked at this team. I'm
[14:00] Speaker 3: not too long ago Kennepalace was in that side.
[14:04] Speaker 1: Surely is one.
[14:08] Speaker 3: Yeah we did, Yeah, yeah we did, Yeah, yeah, no,
[14:10] Speaker 3: we did. It was it was a cool crew. But
[14:12] Speaker 3: like you know, when you're younger, you don't I don't
[14:13] Speaker 3: really know who's gonna make it. You kind of think like, oh,
[14:16] Speaker 3: it would be awesome to potentially go on and play
[14:18] Speaker 3: one day, but it's probably just that little bit too
[14:21] Speaker 3: far away because you're not really in a system yet,
[14:23] Speaker 3: or you might have just entered the NRL system. But
[14:26] Speaker 3: looking back on that, like, it is so cool to
[14:27] Speaker 3: see the crew that go on and play. It's going
[14:29] Speaker 3: to do so good out of it as well.
[14:30] Speaker 1: Crazy when you see like a lot of those websides
[14:32] Speaker 1: when you go back in hindsight now look back, like
[14:35] Speaker 1: whether it be Aussie school boys or under twenties origin
[14:38] Speaker 1: things like that, the amount of boys that don't make it, yeah,
[14:41] Speaker 1: Like because I imagine it'd be tough when you make
[14:44] Speaker 1: like a webside and you're under twenty. Because a lot
[14:45] Speaker 1: of people like prodigies debut at like nineteen and eighteen,
[14:49] Speaker 1: you think like, oh, I'm basically I'm going to like
[14:51] Speaker 1: debut in the NFL. I don't know whether it's a
[14:53] Speaker 1: complacency thing, or whether people just sort of they stopped
[14:57] Speaker 1: working as hard or they did whatever happens, they stopped developing.
[14:59] Speaker 1: But but so many people from those under twenties, under
[15:02] Speaker 1: eighties websites or even I was your school boys, they
[15:04] Speaker 1: don't really like they don't kick on.
[15:06] Speaker 3: There's a few. I remember when I was there. I
[15:08] Speaker 3: used to think, like you'd see the past photos of
[15:10] Speaker 3: the guys that would play, that would go on, so
[15:12] Speaker 3: you're like, oh, if I make the schoolboys team, then
[15:14] Speaker 3: I'm probably more likely a chance to go on and play.
[15:17] Speaker 3: That was kind of my thought process. But then it's
[15:19] Speaker 3: still hard, Like it is so hard when you go
[15:21] Speaker 3: especially when you go into a system pretty young, like
[15:24] Speaker 3: at seventeen eighteen year old, like you're kind of way
[15:27] Speaker 3: past the ball when it like physicality wise, because you're
[15:29] Speaker 3: still a kid again thrown and you're like, oh, I'm
[15:32] Speaker 3: so well, I don't know. For me, it felt like
[15:34] Speaker 3: I was so far behind, and I felt like I
[15:35] Speaker 3: was constantly like trying to justify like my spot in
[15:38] Speaker 3: the side, like I was at Bronx. That was my
[15:40] Speaker 3: first contract, and so it was the time where I
[15:42] Speaker 3: was like Corey Parker semi Thriday, Josh McGuire Dubs was there,
[15:46] Speaker 3: so I was like all these crew that we looked
[15:48] Speaker 3: up to, and remember I rolled into it and I
[15:50] Speaker 3: was like, had like try to have this like fake
[15:53] Speaker 3: ego on me, and I was like, I'm going to
[15:54] Speaker 3: go in. I'm just gonna try and bash, yeah, and
[15:57] Speaker 3: I was humbled very quickly.
[15:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, because a lot of times it's particularly tricky for
[16:03] Speaker 2: the big guys. And what I mean by this is
[16:06] Speaker 2: for the big guys. You see them at Australian school
[16:09] Speaker 2: boys and I remember seeing Day for Food. I mean
[16:12] Speaker 2: like when I went and saw you play, the only
[16:15] Speaker 2: thing that stopped Dave was a dead ball one like
[16:18] Speaker 2: he could have dead set run the cans and stopping.
[16:21] Speaker 2: But what happens is Coogan, is when you take that
[16:24] Speaker 2: next step up and you going to gray, you know,
[16:27] Speaker 2: as opposed to the juniors where everything is very much
[16:29] Speaker 2: built on physicality, Suddenly when you go that next step up,
[16:32] Speaker 2: you need more than physicality, and you know, you get
[16:35] Speaker 2: the really big guys right, and when they play junior football,
[16:38] Speaker 2: they are oftentimes you know, let's say a big back
[16:40] Speaker 2: Roway and he's marked up against a guy and he's
[16:42] Speaker 2: playing against guys who are oftentimes smaller and they're terrified.
[16:46] Speaker 2: But then when you go to the NRL, you're playing
[16:48] Speaker 2: against guys who put a circle around your name from
[16:51] Speaker 2: six weeks out and say, I can't wait, and you
[16:55] Speaker 2: need to plan B and you need to plan seat,
[16:57] Speaker 2: and you need you need smarts, and you need to
[16:58] Speaker 2: have you need to know how to work with playmakers.
[17:02] Speaker 2: And it's probably the same with America. With American football,
[17:04] Speaker 2: you see college starts of Johnny Manzel. You know a
[17:07] Speaker 2: lot of guys that go the first draft pick, but
[17:09] Speaker 2: then they go to the NFL. I don't quite crack
[17:11] Speaker 2: it is that. It's just that difference. You know it
[17:14] Speaker 2: was Cerebray, you know, like that you know that they
[17:16] Speaker 2: got it. It's very difficult, but.
[17:18] Speaker 3: That's probably great knowledge for any young kid coming through,
[17:20] Speaker 3: right because all the coaches that I had coming through
[17:22] Speaker 3: was always that because I was like an aggressive style
[17:24] Speaker 3: of player. So they were like, don't lose that, like
[17:27] Speaker 3: like you don't ever want to lose that. So I
[17:28] Speaker 3: leant into it and probably didn't lean into honing my
[17:31] Speaker 3: skills or having that awareness or that knowledge of like
[17:34] Speaker 3: linking with our playmakers more or doing more. It wasn't
[17:37] Speaker 3: until like later when you're like mid twenties, are like,
[17:40] Speaker 3: now it's probably time to look at it right. Well,
[17:42] Speaker 3: I don't know, it's just the awareness I thought it was.
[17:43] Speaker 1: Probably I feel like I feel like that age like
[17:46] Speaker 1: now you see you probably see those those aggressive like
[17:50] Speaker 1: intent players who kind of come out and try to
[17:53] Speaker 1: fly out of the line, like they're heavily penalized now,
[17:56] Speaker 1: Like that sort of player isn't sort of not that
[17:59] Speaker 1: they're not well come in the NRL now, but like
[18:01] Speaker 1: that enforcer type player, they're heavily governed now because if
[18:06] Speaker 1: you go and try to put pressure on a playmaker
[18:07] Speaker 1: and whack him too hard, like they've seeing it that
[18:09] Speaker 1: it's in bit now. So I suppose it's it is
[18:12] Speaker 1: very much now that modern generation is like you have
[18:14] Speaker 1: to be there's times to be that aggressive player, like
[18:17] Speaker 1: if someone's running straight at yeah, you'd be aggressive with it.
[18:20] Speaker 1: But there's times like that that old school mentality like
[18:23] Speaker 1: you go out and you fly it and you smack
[18:24] Speaker 1: the half back. That doesn't really happen anymore.
[18:28] Speaker 2: I'm going to lean on you here for a second,
[18:30] Speaker 2: and I'm not it's the wrong term to say brutally honest,
[18:34] Speaker 2: but honest conversation. Right, because we're owners now in the Titans.
[18:39] Speaker 2: What's been the problem?
[18:42] Speaker 3: I think it was when I was there, I had
[18:44] Speaker 3: three coaches over the space of four years.
[18:46] Speaker 2: Gotcha, So I was stability. Yeah.
[18:48] Speaker 3: Well I rolled in with Neil Henry King and I
[18:52] Speaker 3: was back into my career. I was probably yeah, it
[18:56] Speaker 3: was probably like twenty sixteen, twenty seven, and then rolled
[18:59] Speaker 3: in with Brannan and then had Justin Holbrook at the
[19:01] Speaker 3: back end of it. And you know, everyone talks around like, oh,
[19:04] Speaker 3: people come to the Gold Coast because it's like a
[19:06] Speaker 3: party bit of a party life style. But for me,
[19:08] Speaker 3: I didn't get that vibe at all because that was home.
[19:10] Speaker 3: I had a lot of mates who are from there
[19:13] Speaker 3: round James K and LG. Kevin Procter, We had Connie
[19:16] Speaker 3: Herol was like not that he grew up there, but
[19:18] Speaker 3: he was definitely a part of the furniture when we
[19:20] Speaker 3: were there, And so I never really got the point
[19:23] Speaker 3: of that it was actually a big party town when
[19:26] Speaker 3: we're when we're in it, yes, we go for beers
[19:27] Speaker 3: all the time, but it wasn't It wasn't that. If
[19:30] Speaker 3: it was, if I was going to be brutally honest. Yeah,
[19:32] Speaker 3: I think it would would probably be around the stability piece.
[19:35] Speaker 3: Like I imagine having like a like a like a
[19:39] Speaker 3: Bellamy like for there for like ten years and you've
[19:41] Speaker 3: got that culture and it's ingrain and you know, it's
[19:44] Speaker 3: people talking about hard work and having the family around
[19:47] Speaker 3: and having a really good, like I guess like culture there.
[19:49] Speaker 3: We were kind of up and down. Like you know,
[19:51] Speaker 3: when you go through a club rebuild, it sucks you
[19:53] Speaker 3: having crisis meetings every month.
[19:55] Speaker 2: You're knocking the house down every couple of years.
[19:57] Speaker 3: It's exhausted.
[19:59] Speaker 1: Even like not just having a different coach, but completely
[20:03] Speaker 1: different playbook terminal new coaches come in. It's not like
[20:06] Speaker 1: they change, you know, your mentality, Like they're changing calls,
[20:11] Speaker 1: so that takes adjusting to it. They're changing combinations. They
[20:13] Speaker 1: might not rate a certain player, so they're they're changing
[20:16] Speaker 1: people's positions. Like there's a lot of change other than
[20:19] Speaker 1: just the culture that goes on when you swap out
[20:20] Speaker 1: a coach, because oftentimes they also sackle the assistance.
[20:23] Speaker 3: With them the whole.
[20:24] Speaker 1: They want to bring everyone else their own strength and conditions.
[20:27] Speaker 2: That's one of the biggest problems with clubs is they
[20:29] Speaker 2: put all the power in the hands of the head coach,
[20:31] Speaker 2: and the head coach will eventually go well, the head
[20:33] Speaker 2: coach sometimes sees the riding on the wall. And I'm
[20:36] Speaker 2: not saying they all do it, but oftentimes they'll put
[20:38] Speaker 2: the salary cap out of whack, they'll leave a turd
[20:40] Speaker 2: under the bed, so to speak, or they'll take the
[20:44] Speaker 2: football education with them. And that's why it's so important.
[20:46] Speaker 2: Like one of the things at the moment, Scotty Saddler
[20:49] Speaker 2: there who knows his football inside out, the great man,
[20:51] Speaker 2: one of the great men, and you know, and so
[20:53] Speaker 2: the football education, they have all the good things that
[20:56] Speaker 2: one coach will bring bring in he won't allowed to
[20:59] Speaker 2: just disappear. And like if you look at the Warriors,
[21:01] Speaker 2: the Warriors went through a lot of difficult times. Now
[21:05] Speaker 2: they're getting stability. Now they're getting consistency because Andrew Webster's
[21:09] Speaker 2: now going into year three. Yeah, and but for the Warriors,
[21:13] Speaker 2: that's a long stint. There was one period in the
[21:16] Speaker 2: Warrior's history. I think it was something like twelve coaches
[21:19] Speaker 2: fourteen years. How can you get continuity, form, combination, all
[21:25] Speaker 2: those things?
[21:25] Speaker 3: Can you get your thoughts on it? As well, because
[21:27] Speaker 3: you know when people have like there's incredible athletes and
[21:30] Speaker 3: they've been in the sport or in their discipline for
[21:32] Speaker 3: your ten plus years. Think Lebron, Think Tiger Woods, think
[21:36] Speaker 3: all these like ash Party, they've been doing it for
[21:38] Speaker 3: so long, so of course with consistency that it's time.
[21:42] Speaker 3: There's a book by Angela Duckworth called Grit. It's kind
[21:45] Speaker 3: of like passion and perseverance. So it's like doing something
[21:47] Speaker 3: you love over a long period of time. You look
[21:50] Speaker 3: at these athletes who have incredible success, like the Tom Brady's,
[21:53] Speaker 3: the guys who absolutely christ they've been doing it for
[21:56] Speaker 3: so long. So I wonder if you apply that logic
[21:59] Speaker 3: to a team environment who you've had the same coach,
[22:02] Speaker 3: you've had the same, similar system, similar leadership crew. I
[22:05] Speaker 3: wonder what that would look like. Well, you could obviously
[22:08] Speaker 3: look you pick out a couple of NRL teams who
[22:10] Speaker 3: have had that stability.
[22:12] Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's in the year we won the company
[22:15] Speaker 2: nine to ninety seven. We were a group of young
[22:18] Speaker 2: guys who basically came through simultaneously. We were educated, we
[22:21] Speaker 2: had the same football education. We came through and we
[22:24] Speaker 2: had an amazing coach. Then Malcolm really Englishman, and mal
[22:27] Speaker 2: was one of the greatest players English players of all time.
[22:30] Speaker 2: But he was a man without ego, right, So what
[22:34] Speaker 2: he did, what happened at the start of that ninety
[22:35] Speaker 2: seven preseason, he had to go home. I think it
[22:38] Speaker 2: was his mother who passed, so he went home. Now
[22:40] Speaker 2: he let him. He just left to us. He said,
[22:44] Speaker 2: you you bo like to know the system you need
[22:46] Speaker 2: to do. He said, you just coach yourselves. So we
[22:49] Speaker 2: coached ourselves and Malcolm come back for a week and
[22:50] Speaker 2: then his father. Something happened his dad, so his dad
[22:53] Speaker 2: went back again. At that same time, Peter Sharp, who
[22:55] Speaker 2: was our reserve grade coach, he got pached by Paramatta.
[22:58] Speaker 2: We had effectivety no coaches, but we coached ourselves. And
[23:02] Speaker 2: when Malcolm came back, you know what he said, He said,
[23:04] Speaker 2: so what he has been doing? And we said, oh,
[23:06] Speaker 2: we've gone ABC, we're playing this way. He said, sounds
[23:09] Speaker 2: great and we believed in it. It was out, you know,
[23:13] Speaker 2: like and like you were saying, there is so much
[23:16] Speaker 2: to be said about that.
[23:18] Speaker 1: Taking it back to your foot because your first experience
[23:21] Speaker 1: of the clubs with Brisbane Broncos, obviously Wayne Bennett was there,
[23:24] Speaker 1: your coach. There is that twenty fifteen when they won
[23:26] Speaker 1: the comp. Your first sort of.
[23:28] Speaker 3: I was under twenty. I think I was seventeen that
[23:31] Speaker 3: first year, and then the next year was after because after.
[23:35] Speaker 1: I hear stories of that Bronco that old sort of
[23:38] Speaker 1: that's sort of that's probably the last era of those
[23:40] Speaker 1: old Broncos players and young players coming in have always
[23:45] Speaker 1: sort of said, it's very much like welcome to first Goose,
[23:48] Speaker 1: like they're not very nice. Those old lads were like now,
[23:51] Speaker 1: very hard on the young players. Did you experience that.
[23:56] Speaker 3: I remember like rolling in that these are the guys
[23:59] Speaker 3: that like I looked to. I think Cos made his
[24:02] Speaker 3: debut when he was eighteen. I think it was like
[24:04] Speaker 3: three or four years old. But when I when I
[24:07] Speaker 3: rolled in, it was very much of that. But that
[24:10] Speaker 3: was so tight. It was the exact same review boys
[24:12] Speaker 3: that a lot of them went through under twenties together,
[24:15] Speaker 3: like Alex Glann, Josh McGuire, Andrew mccullogg, Dozer, all those
[24:19] Speaker 3: boys went through together. So that was so tight and
[24:21] Speaker 3: so being able to get in there, it's it can
[24:23] Speaker 3: be tricky. I remember we're doing wrestling in pre season,
[24:28] Speaker 3: and you know we're doing like the shark bait and
[24:31] Speaker 3: trying to fly into each other. Remember Josh McGuire was
[24:33] Speaker 3: in the middle and I was like eighteen years old
[24:38] Speaker 3: fly into him and I flew into him and at
[24:40] Speaker 3: one point I was like, I've got him here, like
[24:42] Speaker 3: I'm going to flip him. And then you know what
[24:44] Speaker 3: Moosei's like like back then, he.
[24:46] Speaker 1: Was quite aggressive.
[24:48] Speaker 3: Man, quite an aggressive man. He like picked me up
[24:51] Speaker 3: and then just like threw me into the mirror and
[24:53] Speaker 3: I thought I shattered my ankle. I got up and
[24:55] Speaker 3: I was like, oh, yeah, you're sweet. I'm sweet. But
[24:57] Speaker 3: it was just such like a humbling exercise and there
[25:00] Speaker 3: were so many times I had a few I tore
[25:02] Speaker 3: my hamstring and then five times throughout the course of
[25:04] Speaker 3: like it was nineteen to twenty.
[25:06] Speaker 2: That could really set your confidence for a lot of people.
[25:09] Speaker 2: You go torn hamstring, people don't understand. In my opinion,
[25:14] Speaker 2: that's one of the worst injuries you can have as
[25:16] Speaker 2: an athlete. It really just drains your confidence.
[25:18] Speaker 3: It was one of those ones where you like, you
[25:19] Speaker 3: try and try and get back quickly. For Australian for
[25:22] Speaker 3: under twenty School under twenty is Australian team. But then
[25:25] Speaker 3: you tear it again and they're like, I'll try, and
[25:27] Speaker 3: sped out to the recovery and it was just a
[25:29] Speaker 3: roller coaster of like tearor I'll do the recovery a
[25:32] Speaker 3: little bit longer. I was trying everything, went to the AIS,
[25:35] Speaker 3: got the best hamstring specialists in Australia, trying to get
[25:37] Speaker 3: this run. I just couldn't get back. And I remember
[25:40] Speaker 3: on the fifth time I tore it was pre season,
[25:43] Speaker 3: and I remember it was so innocuous. It was just
[25:45] Speaker 3: a passing drill and I'm fell in the click walking
[25:49] Speaker 3: off and one of the boys like, mate, if you're
[25:51] Speaker 3: a horse, would fucking shoot yah? And I was like
[25:54] Speaker 3: trying to and it was like it was so hard
[25:59] Speaker 3: because all you want to do his play grade. Like
[26:01] Speaker 3: I signed that contract with Brons when I was seventeen,
[26:04] Speaker 3: so as soon as I signed it sort of have
[26:06] Speaker 3: this thing is like I want to be a first
[26:08] Speaker 3: grade up so badly, so I put all this pressure
[26:10] Speaker 3: on myself to try and play grade. Like I remember
[26:14] Speaker 3: Corey Parker, he had this thing he like I think,
[26:17] Speaker 3: made his debut when he was eighteen and bought his
[26:19] Speaker 3: first house when he was eighteen. So am I like
[26:21] Speaker 3: a young immature brain. I'm like, Okay, well, if I
[26:23] Speaker 3: can make my debut before I'm twenty and buy my
[26:26] Speaker 3: first house before I'm twenty, then like maybe I'll have
[26:29] Speaker 3: half the career that he had. Like that was the
[26:31] Speaker 3: way I was justifying it to myself. So I put
[26:33] Speaker 3: all this pressure to try and play grade, and I
[26:35] Speaker 3: was getting injured and couldn't play grade. And then you
[26:37] Speaker 3: look at the whole team in front of you and
[26:38] Speaker 3: you're like, it's probably going to be pretty hard to
[26:40] Speaker 3: do that. And the pressure of that as a young
[26:42] Speaker 3: kid is it's tricky. I see all the time.
[26:44] Speaker 1: Oh well we still Me and Jack are coaching like
[26:47] Speaker 1: the SG ball at Manly, and we see it even
[26:49] Speaker 1: like the amount of kids at that age, even before
[26:52] Speaker 1: getting into the NRL, Like and I take myself back
[26:54] Speaker 1: to that age. I remember what it was like like
[26:56] Speaker 1: being eighteen years of age. You're constantly just comparing yourself
[27:00] Speaker 1: as a junior to everyone, Like whether it be you,
[27:03] Speaker 1: don't you he makes a website and you don't, Oh, like,
[27:06] Speaker 1: you know, he's better than me. I'm not going to
[27:07] Speaker 1: make like that's the be all and end all. But
[27:09] Speaker 1: you don't realize like everyone's on there a different journal.
[27:12] Speaker 1: Fokes like Nico Hine is a great example, like doesn't
[27:15] Speaker 1: doesn't really make a first grade system, just goes and
[27:17] Speaker 1: toils away in reserve grade. It makes his debut at
[27:19] Speaker 1: like twenty three, twenty.
[27:21] Speaker 2: Four, like that drops.
[27:22] Speaker 1: Yeah, like the amount of time it's now like you
[27:25] Speaker 1: can really come out of no like a good player
[27:27] Speaker 1: can come out of nowhere, any system, any kind.
[27:29] Speaker 2: Well, that's like the Titans. The first thing myself and
[27:32] Speaker 2: tristed with the Titans. They said when we just sort
[27:35] Speaker 2: of signed up and did the ownership, they said, it's
[27:38] Speaker 2: junior junior player parent night. So we'll go and have
[27:41] Speaker 2: a look. By the way you went up there and say,
[27:42] Speaker 2: junior play a parent. So these cute little kids are
[27:45] Speaker 2: all fucking six foot five. Honestly, if me Andrew are
[27:49] Speaker 2: playing football now, they shoot us out of camp a
[27:51] Speaker 2: half time.
[27:52] Speaker 3: That's it.
[27:52] Speaker 4: But it's a very funny thing though, was like almost
[27:55] Speaker 4: like one of those things is not just the kids,
[27:57] Speaker 4: with the parents too. They need to like understand too
[27:59] Speaker 4: that the later takes them to actually get there, the
[28:01] Speaker 4: better the chance is.
[28:02] Speaker 1: To actually stay.
[28:03] Speaker 4: Like once your debut and if you're not up to
[28:07] Speaker 4: it and you're in and out for a number of years.
[28:09] Speaker 1: Like it's very hard to.
[28:11] Speaker 4: Try and become a concrete first grader, Like very hard,
[28:14] Speaker 4: day in, day out.
[28:15] Speaker 2: Very hard to improve. Like on the run that makes
[28:18] Speaker 2: sense once you're in there. But that night, like when
[28:21] Speaker 2: we went to that play a parent or not, I'm
[28:24] Speaker 2: sitting there almost getting peot. Still you're looking at these
[28:26] Speaker 2: kids because you see him or looking at each other, right,
[28:29] Speaker 2: and they're sitting there. They're all nervous and they're sweating,
[28:31] Speaker 2: and you can see him erown each other off. Fuck,
[28:33] Speaker 2: he looks good. I'm as good as him. All this
[28:36] Speaker 2: sort of stuff.
[28:36] Speaker 1: You know, you know what the worst thing is, Like
[28:38] Speaker 1: I was saying, this is someone the other day being
[28:40] Speaker 1: young play whether even like under twelves, under thirteens, and
[28:45] Speaker 1: how you build an opposition player up in your head,
[28:47] Speaker 1: Like I swear everyone's got an experience like this, whether
[28:50] Speaker 1: you're playing any sport, and it's like, oh, we're coming up.
[28:52] Speaker 1: We used to have a kid who played against called Zion,
[28:55] Speaker 1: Right dad, you remember it's talking about Zion under thirteenes Can.
[28:58] Speaker 2: I give you the first three bout Zion?
[28:59] Speaker 3: Right?
[29:00] Speaker 1: Me tell it? And then you go to jump in
[29:01] Speaker 1: and take me stories. You know, everyone talks tells about Zion,
[29:07] Speaker 1: and I will so Zion. He was from Queensland and
[29:10] Speaker 1: this was under twelves in like the local northern beaches,
[29:13] Speaker 1: a grade thing. And they go everyone to be looking
[29:16] Speaker 1: through the registrations. Has Zion signed up for the comp yet?
[29:18] Speaker 1: And then it would come in Zion and he's like,
[29:21] Speaker 1: everyone goes, oh, apparently this year he's put on twenty
[29:23] Speaker 1: more kilos. He's one hundred and ten kilos and he
[29:25] Speaker 1: runs one hundred meters in eleven seconds. Remember how like
[29:28] Speaker 1: who gets those stats at a thirteen year old that
[29:31] Speaker 1: he can run?
[29:32] Speaker 2: Even gaming already that game when you played Zion the
[29:36] Speaker 2: first time, all the boys, all they're talking about was Zion, Zion, Zion.
[29:40] Speaker 2: And I did the thing. I said, listen, boys, listen,
[29:42] Speaker 2: look at the end of the day, he will be
[29:44] Speaker 2: the ore the heart of day fall. And like everyone
[29:46] Speaker 2: builds his thing up about these big kids, I'm telling you,
[29:48] Speaker 2: when they get the end of the day, you know
[29:50] Speaker 2: he won't. It's all built. It's all myth, you know. Anyway,
[29:53] Speaker 2: So well, these two people walk in right and sure
[29:57] Speaker 2: enough I'm looking at Zion and mate is like I said,
[30:01] Speaker 2: he's a big kid. But I said, look, there iss
[30:03] Speaker 2: not that big. They went, it's the person next to him.
[30:07] Speaker 2: I said, oh, it was his dad.
[30:11] Speaker 3: He was a.
[30:14] Speaker 2: I had to go to the opposition coach at halftime
[30:16] Speaker 2: and said, he brother, just you the favor. Let him
[30:19] Speaker 2: play a few minutes and take him off, mate, like
[30:22] Speaker 2: he was just charging through and you mate, someone's going
[30:24] Speaker 2: to get hurt. And it's not Zion.
[30:27] Speaker 1: The boys were doing that. You know that that, I'll that,
[30:29] Speaker 1: I'll do your check. When someone's running at you, you run,
[30:32] Speaker 1: you let him go through, run alongside him and then
[30:34] Speaker 1: try to get him from behind him where.
[30:36] Speaker 3: To go like that called the bus Shiloh big. Everyone
[30:39] Speaker 3: called him the bus because everyone would jump on him
[30:41] Speaker 3: and we were like underrated. He was the biggest kid ever.
[30:43] Speaker 2: I remember we're talking before we had Brad thorn On
[30:46] Speaker 2: earlier in the year. Anyway, Thorny like, mate, you can't
[30:49] Speaker 2: give me Laso and all those blokes all the time,
[30:51] Speaker 2: you know. And but before I Thorny Thorny, when he'd
[30:55] Speaker 2: run out on your inside shoulder. He was just all
[30:58] Speaker 2: hips and norbos and knees. I remember playing them one
[31:01] Speaker 2: night and it was sort of getting on back end
[31:03] Speaker 2: of the year, you sort of feel a little bit tired.
[31:05] Speaker 2: And what I remember running tackling, and honestly, it was
[31:09] Speaker 2: like there was an explosion went off in my body.
[31:11] Speaker 2: And I'm not proud to say it that by by
[31:13] Speaker 2: halfway through the second half, I was dead set just
[31:16] Speaker 2: putting the arm out. I wasn't putting my body in front.
[31:18] Speaker 2: And I was shamed to say it, but it's just
[31:21] Speaker 2: fucking mate. It was like Chinese water toy.
[31:23] Speaker 3: It's giving, it's giving, like Nelson vibes as well. I
[31:26] Speaker 3: remember there was a trial game in Sonny Cave you're playing.
[31:28] Speaker 3: It might have been a bit earlier. Nelson was coming
[31:30] Speaker 3: off the back fans and I was like, in my way, okay,
[31:33] Speaker 3: I'm going to try and jam here, maybe get under
[31:35] Speaker 3: his ribs. He puts his elbow out, clicked me in
[31:37] Speaker 3: the throat and this is off a forty meter run up,
[31:40] Speaker 3: and so I couldn't breathe for field like two three sads,
[31:43] Speaker 3: and I thought I was going to be like Keavy
[31:45] Speaker 3: Proctor or Darren lockyow with my with my throat. It
[31:47] Speaker 3: was one of the most gnaliest tried tacklesaved.
[31:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, we're talking before about training hard, like you know,
[31:53] Speaker 2: Thorny told an amazing story here because he was talking about,
[31:57] Speaker 2: you know, with Madge and the spear buckets. And Thorny went,
[32:00] Speaker 2: he said, when I read all the stuff about the
[32:02] Speaker 2: spear buckets, he said, I just went, mate, the kidd
[32:04] Speaker 2: you know you said us broncos when we won competitions,
[32:07] Speaker 2: we trained hard. That'll bloke called Kelvin Giles mate. And
[32:10] Speaker 2: they used to say. Laurie Dailey when he was at
[32:11] Speaker 2: camera said mate, he's only to make me spew in
[32:14] Speaker 2: the gym. He said it was full on. But Thorny
[32:16] Speaker 2: told the story, he said, and sparkd my memory. He
[32:18] Speaker 2: said about doing ten k runs. He said when he
[32:21] Speaker 2: went there in ninety four. He said, he went in
[32:23] Speaker 2: the first grade squad and he said one of the
[32:25] Speaker 2: first training sessions, he looks like an alf and Kevy
[32:27] Speaker 2: and that they're they're they're vomiting right, and it's before training.
[32:32] Speaker 2: And he said to one of the blokes, oh, they're vomiting,
[32:34] Speaker 2: you know, like have they trained already? He goes, no, no, no,
[32:37] Speaker 2: they know what's coming.
[32:39] Speaker 3: Yeah.
[32:41] Speaker 1: Yeah, did you how was your interaction with Wayne Bennett
[32:43] Speaker 1: at Bronx.
[32:44] Speaker 3: Yeah, Wayne's really funny. It's a different tart, like I
[32:50] Speaker 3: looked up to it, Like I really liked Wayne when
[32:52] Speaker 3: I was there. There's so many funny, like little stories
[32:57] Speaker 3: that he does that and that sure in there you
[32:59] Speaker 3: just didn't know, Like just walks around nude all the time.
[33:03] Speaker 2: Like as a young yeah you know, no comment.
[33:07] Speaker 3: And I open he does it on purpose, especially to
[33:09] Speaker 3: the young kids. When you're like just to be sitting
[33:11] Speaker 3: there and he puts his leg up, you just don't
[33:15] Speaker 3: know what's coming. Jack, did you back that up?
[33:17] Speaker 2: Was he nude?
[33:19] Speaker 4: Not nude? But I do like the basic instinct reference.
[33:23] Speaker 3: First thing that comes to mind. But Wayne was so
[33:24] Speaker 3: good at bringing crew together, like I did a we
[33:27] Speaker 3: did a podcast with Joy Arrow last week and Joy's
[33:30] Speaker 3: been around Wayne like ages at Bronx and then at
[33:32] Speaker 3: South as well, and he's just like, man, he's just
[33:35] Speaker 3: so good at just bringing people together, like outside of
[33:37] Speaker 3: the footy, he's just so good at that. But when
[33:40] Speaker 3: I was with Wayne, I was I was like seventeen, eighteen,
[33:44] Speaker 3: nineteen years old, so I was like the young kids
[33:47] Speaker 3: your way, I may I reckon, first year in being
[33:50] Speaker 3: in the system, reckon. I didn't say a word I
[33:52] Speaker 3: was so nervous, Like I think he called me Kieran
[33:55] Speaker 3: for the first year.
[33:56] Speaker 2: It's got to be a tactic.
[34:00] Speaker 1: Did you do it a lot? Has he done that before?
[34:02] Speaker 1: I guess his names.
[34:02] Speaker 2: Roll he went up to when Lewis Dodd when he
[34:05] Speaker 2: first got out, he went out to Lewis Dodd and said,
[34:07] Speaker 2: who the hell are you.
[34:09] Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like that when you first get into a
[34:12] Speaker 1: thing and there's a there's a coach who's got like
[34:14] Speaker 1: a significant aura, Like I used to try to stay
[34:16] Speaker 1: out of belly K's way, like the first sort of
[34:19] Speaker 1: year I reckon, but I sort of knew him beforehand
[34:22] Speaker 1: because you'd done some coaching down the dad. So but
[34:24] Speaker 1: I was still like equally as nervous, like even when
[34:27] Speaker 1: I was having a meeting to sign down there and
[34:30] Speaker 1: Christian Welch like got me with a beauty one day.
[34:32] Speaker 1: He was like, oh, belly got some clips for you
[34:35] Speaker 1: in his office. He wants to go and see you.
[34:36] Speaker 1: And I've just cold call walked into belly K's office, like, Bell,
[34:40] Speaker 1: you got some clips for me. Bell's just like no,
[34:43] Speaker 1: I don't, And I'm just sitting there like awkwardly, like
[34:46] Speaker 1: I didn't know how to eat it up and I
[34:48] Speaker 1: was like, oh, sorry, welch. He told me that you
[34:51] Speaker 1: had some, and then he just cut me off and goes,
[34:52] Speaker 1: can you get out? Look I'm doing.
[34:55] Speaker 3: Was very humbling.
[34:57] Speaker 2: My first training session at the Knights, the first grade.
[35:00] Speaker 2: We went to the pub afterwards. That's what used to happen.
[35:02] Speaker 2: You train three days a week together. Part after this
[35:04] Speaker 2: is nine and eighty nine. Anyway, that's right, Jurassic Park,
[35:09] Speaker 2: not long Man's Well, I know that anyway. So I've mate,
[35:14] Speaker 2: I've got the end. I've gone, oh, I'm going to
[35:17] Speaker 2: go now and I've gone out. I've gone fun Where
[35:20] Speaker 2: are my keys? Where are my keys? I've locked the
[35:21] Speaker 2: keys in the car. So I've gone. I had to
[35:24] Speaker 2: go back in and say to the first go coach, Hey,
[35:27] Speaker 2: David Waite, Hey, here you going a lot? I've locked
[35:31] Speaker 2: the keys in the car. He goes, what the fuck
[35:33] Speaker 2: am I going to do about? I said, oh, do
[35:36] Speaker 2: you know anyone that can help me? As fucking help?
[35:38] Speaker 2: What type of car is it? And I panicked and
[35:40] Speaker 2: I went, oh, oh, oh a sedan? Anyway? Can we
[35:45] Speaker 2: go out? I? Yes? The team manager goes out, goes
[35:48] Speaker 2: out in the car, which one is it someone there
[35:51] Speaker 2: in a silver Kmia and he comes out agether right,
[35:54] Speaker 2: I just oh, he gues, mate's got one of those
[35:57] Speaker 2: fucking they're hard to get mate, until we're going to
[35:59] Speaker 2: have to do gets going to take the door off. Anyway,
[36:02] Speaker 2: he's halfway through taking the door off, and I've looked
[36:05] Speaker 2: and there's a car looking in this this car identical
[36:07] Speaker 2: to mine next to your I went, oh, fuck, that
[36:09] Speaker 2: is mine. It's the wrong car. Sorry, mate, My whole
[36:16] Speaker 2: for the whole tenure that he was, he just every
[36:18] Speaker 2: time he every day he would come up and gain
[36:21] Speaker 2: what type of car is.
[36:25] Speaker 3: This loser coming through?
[36:28] Speaker 1: That's that's nearly enough to get caught, like that is
[36:30] Speaker 1: nearly enough to get completely cut. Army camp. Did you
[36:34] Speaker 1: want a Bronx?
[36:35] Speaker 2: Uh?
[36:35] Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah I did want a Bronx, only got one
[36:37] Speaker 3: in when I was there. But good times brood.
[36:41] Speaker 1: Yeah you don't, I swear you never. Like there's always
[36:43] Speaker 1: so many funny stories that come out of an Army camp.
[36:46] Speaker 1: Did you guys have a winner of that one?
[36:47] Speaker 3: Like?
[36:47] Speaker 1: Did you guys?
[36:48] Speaker 3: No? No, I know what you mean. No, I don't
[36:50] Speaker 3: think as was just an overnight we were just like
[36:53] Speaker 3: adding that barracks in Brisbane. I remember there was only
[36:55] Speaker 3: one time. There was one time we were like, I
[36:58] Speaker 3: think we're sorting rice or the white rice between the
[37:01] Speaker 3: brown rice. Did you ever do that? Yeah? And then
[37:04] Speaker 3: you might do it for hours and then they'll come
[37:06] Speaker 3: through and they'll just like mush it all together pretty much.
[37:10] Speaker 3: But there was one time where I think we had
[37:12] Speaker 3: this guy forgot his name, who's this big, like really
[37:16] Speaker 3: intimidating guy and he used to always scare scare the
[37:19] Speaker 3: shit out of me. And I think it was like
[37:21] Speaker 3: him James Roberts, and then like Gy Arrow. And then
[37:24] Speaker 3: I think James and one of the boys were just
[37:27] Speaker 3: like bickering, and I think like maybe snapped at one
[37:30] Speaker 3: of the Army camp guys and the guy's like, Okay,
[37:32] Speaker 3: that's it. We're not doing anymore. No one's getting fired,
[37:34] Speaker 3: no one's getting anything. It was this big, big ordeal
[37:37] Speaker 3: and then they said, look, if you go and like
[37:41] Speaker 3: apologized to the Army camp guy, then we'll give you
[37:44] Speaker 3: all a kick cat. It was like some some sort
[37:45] Speaker 3: of mind. But remember I think it was Jimmy the
[37:48] Speaker 3: j and the Arrow was sitting there like crying. It's like, Shimmy,
[37:51] Speaker 3: please just go get the quick caut. I was like,
[37:55] Speaker 3: I remember, like that was the one thing that stood
[37:56] Speaker 3: out to me so much. I was just like, oh yeah,
[37:58] Speaker 3: I'll never forget that. But it's just like so fun
[38:00] Speaker 3: Like it's so hard when you're in it, but then
[38:03] Speaker 3: when as soon as you get back and you just
[38:05] Speaker 3: start laughing. Like remember when I was crying, it was
[38:07] Speaker 3: just good. It's good.
[38:08] Speaker 1: It's so funny. How like something in the moment is
[38:11] Speaker 1: not funny at all, Like no one would have been
[38:13] Speaker 1: laughing during that moment, but then as soon as you
[38:15] Speaker 1: get out of it, it's so funny.
[38:17] Speaker 3: But we did a fifty k hike when I was
[38:19] Speaker 3: at the Titans when Garth Brendan was there and we
[38:21] Speaker 3: had like the coaching staff and then we had the
[38:23] Speaker 3: whole team. It was like five pm night.
[38:24] Speaker 1: I remember that when you said that. Remember the video
[38:26] Speaker 1: they made a video from it?
[38:28] Speaker 3: Yeah? Maybe I don't know. Actually maybe it was a
[38:29] Speaker 3: different one. Anyway, we was a fifty k hike overnight,
[38:32] Speaker 3: and it was supposed to be one of those things
[38:33] Speaker 3: where it brings like the coaching staff and the players
[38:36] Speaker 3: together and yeah, so we're all going through it and
[38:40] Speaker 3: then by I think like Klumra to thirty. All the
[38:43] Speaker 3: coaching staff had tapped out, and there was probably like
[38:46] Speaker 3: and it was just and it was just like the
[38:47] Speaker 3: staff left and I remember, like I remember Brenda was
[38:51] Speaker 3: just like in the in the back of the van
[38:54] Speaker 3: and like one of the boys started going no, no, no, no,
[38:58] Speaker 3: like the time. Yeah, And it was just one of
[39:02] Speaker 3: those things thinking like one of this is one of
[39:04] Speaker 3: the things that like kind of lose the team a
[39:06] Speaker 3: little bit. And like, with all due respect, like we
[39:08] Speaker 3: lost right at the end of the day. Yea, with
[39:10] Speaker 3: all due respect.
[39:12] Speaker 2: We had Jesse Williams on you know called Jesse who
[39:15] Speaker 2: played Seattle Seahawks and whatnot. He was saying, going to
[39:17] Speaker 2: the university down Alabama into Settle had to do the
[39:21] Speaker 2: combine and you went in the combine. We see it
[39:23] Speaker 2: from here when they go there for the draft. We're
[39:25] Speaker 2: all the scouts watching that forty minutes sprint, bench press,
[39:28] Speaker 2: all those things. One thing we I didn't realize about
[39:31] Speaker 2: it or it's not publicized. He said, through it you sloop
[39:35] Speaker 2: your deprivation, and they under foger like you said, literally
[39:39] Speaker 2: you're starving, hungry and you've had no sloop and it's
[39:42] Speaker 2: just a rudder see how you operate under pressure. Yeah,
[39:45] Speaker 2: it is.
[39:46] Speaker 1: Why did you bring that up?
[39:48] Speaker 2: Because talking about.
[39:49] Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, but even like sleeping, like I'm very well
[39:55] Speaker 3: to be honest, Like now we're doing like the marathons
[39:58] Speaker 3: for this year, but that ultra Ultra endurance races, Ultra marathon,
[40:03] Speaker 3: multi day races. Those are the things that are really
[40:05] Speaker 3: interesting me at the minute. Like I think after this
[40:08] Speaker 3: year of doing the seven marathons, i think I'll probably
[40:10] Speaker 3: end up trying my hand at like an ultra.
[40:12] Speaker 1: So is the ultra. It's like you have to do
[40:14] Speaker 1: a certain amount each day.
[40:15] Speaker 3: So an ultra is a like like standard. The standard
[40:20] Speaker 3: is like it's anything longer than a marathon. But then
[40:22] Speaker 3: you can do like multi day ultras, which is like
[40:24] Speaker 3: might be like a two hundred and fifty kilometer race,
[40:26] Speaker 3: three hundred kilometer race like two three days, depend depends
[40:29] Speaker 3: how long you want to do it. There was I've
[40:31] Speaker 3: read a few friends on the podcast, like Montana Farra, Seaton,
[40:34] Speaker 3: Bennie Seymour, this a girl called Jackie Bell. They do
[40:38] Speaker 3: like these really incredible races and they do it like
[40:41] Speaker 3: on pretty much no sleep. Have you heard the mo
[40:44] Speaker 3: app to fifty It's like a race over in the States.
[40:47] Speaker 3: I think it's maybe Utah, Arizona, beautiful like beautiful landscape,
[40:50] Speaker 3: but two hundred and fifty miles, so like five five
[40:54] Speaker 3: hundred kilometers and essentially they're just running. This called Courtney
[40:57] Speaker 3: Joe Alta, who woned a couple of years go by
[41:00] Speaker 3: ten hours, and so she was on Joe Rogan's podcast
[41:03] Speaker 3: talking about it, like how did you win? What'd you do?
[41:06] Speaker 3: And she said she was running through it. I think
[41:07] Speaker 3: she went through the first like twenty four hours of
[41:09] Speaker 3: just like running, and then she was running all over
[41:12] Speaker 3: the shop and then her pacer said you needed to
[41:14] Speaker 3: go and have a rest. Anyway, she tried to lay down,
[41:17] Speaker 3: she couldn't fall asleep just because she was so pumped
[41:19] Speaker 3: on adrenaline and whatnot. So she got up. She thinks
[41:22] Speaker 3: she ran for another couple of hours, same thing, like hallucinating,
[41:26] Speaker 3: was seeing like saxophones in the trees and all these
[41:28] Speaker 3: really wild things. And then her pacer said you need
[41:31] Speaker 3: to sleep, and she said, okay, but only let me
[41:34] Speaker 3: sleep for one minute. And he's like, what you sure.
[41:36] Speaker 3: It's like I don't want to lose the pace, Like
[41:38] Speaker 3: just let me sleep for one minute. So she closed
[41:40] Speaker 3: her eyes and she reckoned. She had the best sleep
[41:42] Speaker 3: of her life, and the you know, the pacer woke
[41:44] Speaker 3: her up and she's like, what.
[41:45] Speaker 1: Are you doing?
[41:46] Speaker 3: Like it felt like at a ten hour sleep, like
[41:48] Speaker 3: I just had this shoe sleep and he's like, it's
[41:50] Speaker 3: been one minute, no way, yeah, nally so. And then
[41:53] Speaker 3: so she got up. She felt so refreshed after that minute,
[41:56] Speaker 3: and she just boosted it and there she won the
[41:58] Speaker 3: mar of two fifty five hundred race by like ten hours.
[42:02] Speaker 1: It's funny you say, like the minute. I remember even
[42:05] Speaker 1: when we did our army camp was over three days
[42:07] Speaker 1: and that was no sleep, but we could get like
[42:09] Speaker 1: you could get little micro sleeps like five ten minutes
[42:12] Speaker 1: when they'd take you from one location to the next place.
[42:15] Speaker 1: And same thing, like I remember I had a ten
[42:18] Speaker 1: minute sleep once. Ye they made you write an essay
[42:20] Speaker 1: on the bus trying to keep you awake, and I
[42:22] Speaker 1: finished it really quick and then tried to get to sleep,
[42:24] Speaker 1: got like ten minutes and same thing. It was like, oh,
[42:28] Speaker 1: that was like the most refreshing sleep because they say
[42:31] Speaker 1: like fifteen minutes or twenty minutes if you have an
[42:33] Speaker 1: AVO nap, they reckon that's like the best thing for you.
[42:36] Speaker 3: Yeah. A lot of those guys in those like multi
[42:38] Speaker 3: day events, they they'll only do a ten minute nap. Yeah,
[42:41] Speaker 3: fifteen minutes.
[42:42] Speaker 1: Well they say, you do.
[42:43] Speaker 4: Like they were now making you write the essays to
[42:46] Speaker 4: everyone had lines through there because.
[42:48] Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, while people would they'd write an essay like
[42:51] Speaker 1: you know, what's the you know, who's your hero, it's
[42:53] Speaker 1: got to be a exactly three hundred and fifty word
[42:56] Speaker 1: essay anymore any less, Like everyone's going penalties, so people
[42:59] Speaker 1: are like trying to account their numbers, trying to count
[43:01] Speaker 1: their letters on there. But then like so afterwards, look,
[43:05] Speaker 1: they didn't even read it, Like they didn't even read
[43:07] Speaker 1: the essays because they're poorly written, like they're in a
[43:08] Speaker 1: real players right and.
[43:10] Speaker 2: Knows my story anyway?
[43:11] Speaker 5: Yeah, and not then and then so where all so
[43:16] Speaker 5: they gave you papers back at the end and you're
[43:18] Speaker 5: going through and because everyone's like as they're writing it,
[43:21] Speaker 5: they're falling asleep.
[43:22] Speaker 1: So there was just not even the boys care read
[43:25] Speaker 1: their own head writing. So it'd be like, you know,
[43:27] Speaker 1: on today, I woke up and then it'd just be
[43:29] Speaker 1: like they'd fall asleep and you'd see that the pennink
[43:31] Speaker 1: would just go running. There'd just be like thirty streaks
[43:34] Speaker 1: running down the page as the boys would be falling
[43:35] Speaker 1: asleep for like a second and then wake themselves back
[43:38] Speaker 1: up and keep writing.
[43:39] Speaker 2: In the best place you've ever been could traveling?
[43:42] Speaker 3: Yep, Mate. When I finished up, I did a walk
[43:45] Speaker 3: through Portugal and Spain. It's called the Camino, said the boys.
[43:50] Speaker 2: I'd love to do it with it.
[43:51] Speaker 3: You should, it's so cool. There's different routes. I think
[43:54] Speaker 3: that was like three hundred and thirty ks through Portugal
[43:56] Speaker 3: in Spain, and there was this one little place at
[43:58] Speaker 3: the top of Span called San Sebastian, San Sabashian to
[44:01] Speaker 3: compose you've been sick, little surfing town. We stayed in
[44:04] Speaker 3: the surfing hostel. It was like one of those places
[44:07] Speaker 3: where we've got like awesome waves. They have this old
[44:09] Speaker 3: they think called old town where it's like all the
[44:11] Speaker 3: pinchos or the food or the drinks. And Mate just
[44:14] Speaker 3: settled in there and one of the best places that.
[44:16] Speaker 2: Portugal enjoy Portugal.
[44:18] Speaker 3: Portugal was cool. Portugal was really cool. I think we
[44:21] Speaker 3: ended up surfing a place called Mick Mick something just
[44:24] Speaker 3: outside of Porto. I would have loved to check out
[44:27] Speaker 3: like Nazare, not to surf it, but like just be
[44:30] Speaker 3: there and see.
[44:31] Speaker 2: I think that would have been It's really interesting, you're
[44:33] Speaker 2: when you look and like I look at Spain and
[44:36] Speaker 2: it gives you an idea of tribes of the world
[44:38] Speaker 2: because you go from France. From France and everything you
[44:42] Speaker 2: know is fairly lash and green, and literally as you
[44:44] Speaker 2: cross the Spanish border, everything changes. You go from people
[44:47] Speaker 2: who are socially socialists into a county. I find the
[44:50] Speaker 2: Spanish and I mean they've had a blood in history
[44:53] Speaker 2: quite harsh and and the other thing about Spain is
[44:56] Speaker 2: you've got the bus You've got the castiles, you've got Tolonians,
[45:01] Speaker 2: and so you know there's always that, you know, that
[45:03] Speaker 2: friction in the bars for a lot, and then separatists
[45:06] Speaker 2: and things like that is something for you. There's only
[45:08] Speaker 2: two countries in the world that don't have the woods
[45:10] Speaker 2: dull national youth, and one is Cossava and the other
[45:12] Speaker 2: one Spain, because they can't decide on the woods.
[45:15] Speaker 3: Really, yes, it is what are they humming?
[45:18] Speaker 2: Spain is a country only.
[45:22] Speaker 1: That's the thing I'm looking at. I've just had to
[45:24] Speaker 1: look down at the Rundown. I went when did when
[45:25] Speaker 1: did it ever? Had Spain facts and asking him where
[45:28] Speaker 1: Really it just goes so Rode like this.
[45:32] Speaker 3: I like it.
[45:33] Speaker 1: Hey, he's a wild card.
[45:36] Speaker 3: Yeah. There was also a really good spot Western Australia. Yeah,
[45:39] Speaker 3: if you can get over to, like Margaret River or
[45:41] Speaker 3: like esperands Man. We just got back from there at
[45:43] Speaker 3: the end of the last year. We did like I
[45:45] Speaker 3: did a half iron Man there at the end of
[45:46] Speaker 3: last year and then we went Trouble with Margaret River afterwards.
[45:49] Speaker 3: It was beautiful.
[45:50] Speaker 2: What's the culture of Western Australia there? But like I mean, effectively,
[45:55] Speaker 2: you know, like if if if we're if the Australian continents,
[45:59] Speaker 2: you we're basically going from eastern Europe right over to
[46:03] Speaker 2: far western Europe, you know what I mean?
[46:04] Speaker 1: Like that that distance.
[46:05] Speaker 2: Do you find the culture of Western Australia different to
[46:08] Speaker 2: the East.
[46:09] Speaker 3: It's very relaxed, Yeah, very relaxed. I imagine it's probably
[46:12] Speaker 3: what Newcastle and Gold Coast would have been like twenty
[46:15] Speaker 3: years ago.
[46:15] Speaker 6: Imagine how do you think they'll handle having a rugby
[46:17] Speaker 6: league sight there? Yeah, it's very all dominated. Everyone loves
[46:22] Speaker 6: afl over there, so I don't know, but beautiful Beach
[46:25] Speaker 6: is great ones.
[46:26] Speaker 1: I think they should have been the Quakers, that's what
[46:30] Speaker 1: you know, those Quakers the animals over in wa.
[46:32] Speaker 2: That's probably the most ridiculous thing ever.
[46:34] Speaker 3: So left field, you're just like your.
[46:36] Speaker 2: Old Yeah, it must be contagious, your.
[46:41] Speaker 1: Like can you were you at the Gold Coast Titans
[46:44] Speaker 1: when Jared Hayne came back from the NFL, or when
[46:46] Speaker 1: he was already.
[46:47] Speaker 3: There he yeah, he was there. He was there in
[46:49] Speaker 3: my debut game.
[46:50] Speaker 1: Yeah, no way, Yeah, how was that was that whole
[46:52] Speaker 1: experiencing come back from there? Because I still remember I
[46:55] Speaker 1: was at school when he came back from the forty
[46:58] Speaker 1: nine ers to the Titans. And but even when he
[47:00] Speaker 1: was at the forty nine's, we would be in science
[47:02] Speaker 1: class and we'd be watching, like as soon as somebody
[47:06] Speaker 1: had the highlights of his preseason game would come out,
[47:08] Speaker 1: we'd all be sitting there watching his punk returns like
[47:10] Speaker 1: in school. Must have been some star on the Gold
[47:12] Speaker 1: Coast then.
[47:13] Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think like the aura about him
[47:15] Speaker 3: when at that time was pretty pretty big. I didn't
[47:18] Speaker 3: have a lot to do with him because I did
[47:19] Speaker 3: a mid season transfer from Brisbane to Goldie. So by
[47:22] Speaker 3: the time I got in there, he was like, I
[47:24] Speaker 3: think it was his last year at I think he
[47:26] Speaker 3: was shitty checked out. But I remember when I made
[47:29] Speaker 3: my debut, he was just I think he said like
[47:31] Speaker 3: I think he put me aside, and it was just like, dude,
[47:32] Speaker 3: I really like, really enjoy this moment. And I think
[47:35] Speaker 3: that was the only thing that really stuck in there.
[47:37] Speaker 3: But all the police would just say how terribly he was.
[47:39] Speaker 3: It like preseason.
[47:44] Speaker 2: Ridiculously just stroll around you watching highlights of his pre eddies.
[47:49] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was crazy.
[47:53] Speaker 1: I don't like just so many people are like, oh,
[47:56] Speaker 1: you know, he was a big deal over in America,
[47:57] Speaker 1: and then you chat to Americans and they go, who's
[48:00] Speaker 1: Sharon Han? Like, it wasn't as big a deal as
[48:02] Speaker 1: I think Australians make it out to be. Like some
[48:04] Speaker 1: parts know, but it wasn't as big I'm pretty sure
[48:07] Speaker 1: because so many people.
[48:08] Speaker 2: Well, Coop, I'll stop you there. I was in San
[48:10] Speaker 2: Francisco not long after he started playing, and there were
[48:13] Speaker 2: hayin It was preseason and there were Haynes thirty eight
[48:16] Speaker 2: jerseys in shops there. He did have an impact because
[48:20] Speaker 2: I was coming off a couple of really difficult seasons,
[48:22] Speaker 2: and when he went there, they were like genuinely genuinely
[48:25] Speaker 2: excited because he was, like it was just an amazing story.
[48:28] Speaker 2: Here's this guy coming out like from Australia in a
[48:31] Speaker 2: code that really never heard of and just lit it up.
[48:34] Speaker 1: But it was big here, Like it was so huge
[48:36] Speaker 1: because there was people like I didn't even watch the
[48:38] Speaker 1: NFL back then in school, but everyone in my school
[48:40] Speaker 1: was watching the preseason game just to see Jared Haynes.
[48:43] Speaker 3: Who do you reckon? Would crush over in the NFL?
[48:45] Speaker 2: From the NFL now, I don't know at the moment.
[48:48] Speaker 2: I said to Jack the other day we were watching
[48:51] Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, and it occasionally gives you an end
[48:54] Speaker 2: on shot. It gives you an idea how the spacings work.
[48:56] Speaker 2: I said, Slater could have I reckoned Slater would have
[48:58] Speaker 2: been a freakish running back because number one, like his
[49:02] Speaker 2: spoedon and agility. He's full like just the way he
[49:04] Speaker 2: moved in space, but sickly he's intelligence like he would
[49:08] Speaker 2: I have got no doubt he would have made it.
[49:10] Speaker 1: You know, he would have been a great like tight
[49:11] Speaker 1: end Greg English, just that so powerful, you know, I
[49:15] Speaker 1: like you look like Gronken Kelsey like somebody who's like
[49:17] Speaker 1: and he's I would say he was even as a runner.
[49:20] Speaker 1: He's more athletic than those guys too.
[49:21] Speaker 2: Well let's see example there when Haynes was there the
[49:25] Speaker 2: San Francisco San Francisco Chronicle, a bloke through the thing
[49:28] Speaker 2: reached out Fox Sports from this bloke wants to speak
[49:31] Speaker 2: some We're going to throw them your way, talk about
[49:33] Speaker 2: you know, rugby league. You wanted to know about the game,
[49:35] Speaker 2: and he said, he said, Jared would clearly be the
[49:38] Speaker 2: best player in rugby league. And I know he's an
[49:42] Speaker 2: elite player, but he got all these blokes probably be
[49:45] Speaker 2: ahead of him. And he goes really and I said yeah,
[49:47] Speaker 2: I said, look typing Greg Engless and I watched you
[49:50] Speaker 2: go and have with his highlights and test me back
[49:52] Speaker 2: and went, holy fuck.
[49:56] Speaker 3: Bulldogs post the other day of Maddy Burton kicking those
[50:00] Speaker 3: crazy the meter goal like man crazy.
[50:02] Speaker 2: What about my Cardige doesn't get some purchase.
[50:05] Speaker 3: On Yeah, he must have big foot, he must have
[50:08] Speaker 3: they reckon.
[50:08] Speaker 1: His feet are like huge, but they reckon they're really flat.
[50:12] Speaker 1: Sure you know what I mean? Like those you know,
[50:14] Speaker 1: look at my they got the dogs out now see
[50:16] Speaker 1: how they're curled. I got curl toes, I reckon his
[50:19] Speaker 1: there is just like flat, just like the earth, and
[50:23] Speaker 1: they're just completely flat to the ground.
[50:24] Speaker 3: They're really dissecting this.
[50:27] Speaker 2: When he does a torpie, those torpie bombs, it's like
[50:30] Speaker 2: I watch and it's almost like you look and it's
[50:34] Speaker 2: just got more purchase on the ball. The ball almost
[50:37] Speaker 2: stays on his foot longer and then it just rips off.
[50:40] Speaker 1: Bends around his foot.
[50:41] Speaker 2: It does. That's exactly what I was looking from.
[50:43] Speaker 1: You know, those flat feet two moments from ale to
[50:47] Speaker 1: go in the army. Now, certainly, no, it wouldn't be
[50:50] Speaker 1: able to you can't. They don't take people with flat feet.
[50:52] Speaker 1: I remember you've told that fact before. You told me obviously,
[50:57] Speaker 1: look a video that always circulates around and of you, Kegan.
[51:01] Speaker 1: There's two pretty special moments, the two moments you probably
[51:04] Speaker 1: wouldn't want to be remembered for. But and I know
[51:08] Speaker 1: you're going to explain this out to Dad who probably
[51:10] Speaker 1: hasn't seen it, but you are dry humping pain half
[51:14] Speaker 1: from behind in an NRL game. Does this come up much?
[51:18] Speaker 3: It comes up every time we do a podcast. Really,
[51:20] Speaker 3: it comes up every any type of sporting podcast, it
[51:22] Speaker 3: always comes up.
[51:23] Speaker 1: That's my favorite because it always circulates on social media.
[51:26] Speaker 1: And I know because Jimmy Dimmick was or wrestle coach
[51:29] Speaker 1: up there at the time.
[51:30] Speaker 3: I would love to flesh this out with you.
[51:31] Speaker 1: Okay, so no, because he so basically what happens is
[51:36] Speaker 1: and he taught us the same move. So if someone backs,
[51:40] Speaker 1: if a wing or a big body backs into the
[51:42] Speaker 1: line and you're a sort of holding them from behind,
[51:44] Speaker 1: you're supposed to like bang your hips in like you're
[51:47] Speaker 1: humping them, bang your hips in like you're humping them.
[51:49] Speaker 1: And then as like you pushing their hips forward, brings
[51:53] Speaker 1: their sort of head back and then you Jack, I'm
[51:56] Speaker 1: just talking to leave it down. It sort of puts
[51:59] Speaker 1: your head out and then you can take him to
[52:01] Speaker 1: the ground. But Keegan, you did it on pain Hash
[52:04] Speaker 1: quite a large body, and it looked like and when
[52:07] Speaker 1: you see the video, Jack's got it ready to go.
[52:09] Speaker 1: When you see the video, it looks like he's trying
[52:11] Speaker 1: to give him a prostat exam like it's quite horrific.
[52:13] Speaker 2: When he does.
[52:14] Speaker 3: It, he's the wind up. Really, anyone, the slow mo
[52:28] Speaker 3: doesn't help me at all, does it? It's so aggressive
[52:31] Speaker 3: so well, but it's so funny that you've been in
[52:34] Speaker 3: the same environment as Jimmy Dimmy know, because I'm glad
[52:38] Speaker 3: you said, because people would look at that. Dude. I
[52:39] Speaker 3: came home to my partner at that time and she
[52:42] Speaker 3: was just like, what are you doing? Like, She's like,
[52:45] Speaker 3: what are you doing? Like this is like, this isn't it?
[52:47] Speaker 3: And I was had to explain that this is a
[52:49] Speaker 3: wrestling move like a coach Jimmy Jimmy. She's like, yeah, right,
[52:52] Speaker 3: like that's fair. But it was mate. I remember when
[52:55] Speaker 3: it first happened, same thing. Pain is such a big guy.
[52:58] Speaker 3: I was like, this is it. This is exactly what
[53:01] Speaker 3: we've trained for. I'm ready for this moment. Tried to
[53:03] Speaker 3: prop him up and he's just so bid. I was like, okay,
[53:06] Speaker 3: one pump didn't work, so I had to go again.
[53:08] Speaker 3: Then he just that went down and we went back
[53:13] Speaker 3: into the sheds. At the end of the game, one
[53:14] Speaker 3: of the boys is like, dude, check your check socials,
[53:17] Speaker 3: check Instagram, and I think like one of the one
[53:19] Speaker 3: of the NRL pages put it up, one of like
[53:22] Speaker 3: the joke pages, and it just went went nice. And
[53:24] Speaker 3: I don't have I don't have many highlights in my career,
[53:26] Speaker 3: and that's like one of the ones.
[53:28] Speaker 1: That but it always circulates like it always circles back
[53:30] Speaker 1: around every now and then. But I remember when we
[53:33] Speaker 1: were practicing that move with Jimmy, he mentioned that. He
[53:36] Speaker 1: was like, yeah, he brought it up on the restaurants
[53:37] Speaker 1: at Manly. He was like, oh, because the boys obviously
[53:40] Speaker 1: felt so uncomfortable with doing it, like you're doing it
[53:42] Speaker 1: slower training and it did feel like you're humping your
[53:45] Speaker 1: mate from behind. And he was like, oh, you should
[53:48] Speaker 1: You guys should google the kick and hip grave videos.
[53:50] Speaker 2: Yeah, he's one of the great guys, jim He is
[53:53] Speaker 2: one of the best best go black belt in jiu
[53:55] Speaker 2: jitsu as well.
[53:57] Speaker 3: It was a brown belt when we were there, but
[53:58] Speaker 3: I'm pretty I could almost guarantee that he be a
[54:00] Speaker 3: black belt.
[54:01] Speaker 1: Well, his brother Milton is a black belt, so he
[54:03] Speaker 1: used to be our He was the main wrestle coach
[54:05] Speaker 1: at Monty and there him and Jimmy would come to
[54:07] Speaker 1: it together.
[54:08] Speaker 2: Yeah, yea. His nick name used to be called him
[54:10] Speaker 2: the Junkyard Dog. And remember he used to walk into
[54:13] Speaker 2: Sidney King's game, you know the Sydney you have heard of,
[54:16] Speaker 2: like called Rodney. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it'd be like Kegan,
[54:22] Speaker 2: how are you dude?
[54:23] Speaker 3: Yeah?
[54:23] Speaker 2: And he used to be the announcer and every time
[54:25] Speaker 2: Jimmy used to walk into Sydney King and go the
[54:27] Speaker 2: gentleman dogs in the house.
[54:31] Speaker 1: And you know what's so good? I love when when
[54:33] Speaker 1: Jimmy laughs, when you make him laugh and he's like
[54:37] Speaker 1: he holds his heart.
[54:44] Speaker 3: Exactly what.
[54:46] Speaker 1: Ah? Yeah?
[54:48] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah he is done coaching, can you nah?
[54:52] Speaker 3: No? To be honest, mate, Like I I really liked
[54:54] Speaker 3: my time at footy, but it's not really something I
[54:58] Speaker 3: like a lot of guys really enjoy going the coaching
[55:00] Speaker 3: path and doing that stuff. But even when I was
[55:02] Speaker 3: in it, Like I liked rugby league, but I didn't
[55:04] Speaker 3: love rugby league. I wasn't. I wasn't completely obsessed. I
[55:07] Speaker 3: was I was really I love the idea of like
[55:09] Speaker 3: getting better at something. I love the community. I love
[55:12] Speaker 3: like trying to be the best at your chosen thing.
[55:14] Speaker 3: I like that, But for me, it's it's not the
[55:17] Speaker 3: space I want to knock around.
[55:18] Speaker 2: Who was growing up and just in general.
[55:22] Speaker 3: Paul Harrigan, Yeah, yeah, Chief. I think it's just because
[55:25] Speaker 3: he like we were so close growing up. I feel
[55:28] Speaker 3: like we got to know him on like a bit
[55:29] Speaker 3: more of an intimate level, like and everyone around him
[55:32] Speaker 3: obviously like speaks so highly of him, and they talk
[55:35] Speaker 3: about how hard he played on like how hard he
[55:38] Speaker 3: played in the game, but then also how good of
[55:40] Speaker 3: a person he was off the field, Like he'd be
[55:42] Speaker 3: playing touch footy with like twenty of us kids on
[55:44] Speaker 3: the sand at Crescent when we were like five, six,
[55:47] Speaker 3: seven years old, and like there's a photo like me
[55:49] Speaker 3: sitting on his lap at like Crescent had a country
[55:51] Speaker 3: club when I was like four years old or five
[55:53] Speaker 3: years old, and so and so everyone talks about that.
[55:56] Speaker 3: So when I was like, oh, what kind of person
[55:59] Speaker 3: do I want to be? What kind of player do
[56:00] Speaker 3: I want to be? I was like, well, I want
[56:01] Speaker 3: to be like a pretty hard, aggressive style of player,
[56:04] Speaker 3: but I also want to be like a pretty good
[56:06] Speaker 3: person off the field as well. That's kind of like
[56:08] Speaker 3: how I looked at it.
[56:08] Speaker 2: He's a great man. I look sometimes at clubs and
[56:12] Speaker 2: they have like leadership groups or they have two captains,
[56:17] Speaker 2: and I just got I don't get it, Like we
[56:19] Speaker 2: had one captain. He was the chief. He was literally
[56:22] Speaker 2: the chief. And he's he's such an unbelievable guy, such
[56:27] Speaker 2: a well meaning guy. I've never I've never seen I've
[56:30] Speaker 2: never seen him turn his back on anyone. I've never
[56:32] Speaker 2: seen him knock an He went back for an autograph.
[56:35] Speaker 2: He's a really amazingly sensitive guy too. Like he when
[56:39] Speaker 2: he first come into Grave Mate, he was fucking wiping
[56:42] Speaker 2: everyone out right, and it was a fair bit of
[56:44] Speaker 2: friendly fire. There was a guy called Paul Marquette and
[56:46] Speaker 2: he hit it. I played the Broncos and he went
[56:48] Speaker 2: to Jim Laser, I think, and Chief's eye. Chief's finger
[56:52] Speaker 2: went basically broke his finger on the back of Peppy's eye,
[56:56] Speaker 2: took his eye out. But played a game in ninety
[56:59] Speaker 2: two and he knocked out an English player. His name
[57:03] Speaker 2: was Ian Lucas and Lucas was out for about fifteen minutes.
[57:06] Speaker 2: Never played again, and Chief for the following years. For
[57:09] Speaker 2: a few years he used to hold back a little
[57:11] Speaker 2: bit and he used to say, come on, Chief, he go, Chimpie,
[57:14] Speaker 2: I just don't want to do that evertall person again.
[57:17] Speaker 2: And then I remember, and I used to see blokes.
[57:19] Speaker 2: It was almost like they picked up on it, the
[57:21] Speaker 2: opposition players, and they come in to give it the
[57:24] Speaker 2: Chief fight and Chief, you just grab him and pull
[57:27] Speaker 2: him in. I remember for the ninety seven Grand Final,
[57:29] Speaker 2: kill you and he was never a guy who talked tough.
[57:32] Speaker 2: He was never that guy. Remember pulling us into the circle.
[57:34] Speaker 2: We're just about to run out and he said, boys,
[57:37] Speaker 2: today I fucking unload. No one gets sent off in
[57:40] Speaker 2: a Grand Final. And we just went right, it's on.
[57:44] Speaker 2: But he was just There was something they showed the
[57:46] Speaker 2: other day. Actually it was I did a face to
[57:49] Speaker 2: face Ray Halley talking about that ninety seven Grand Final
[57:52] Speaker 2: and they found vision that I've never seen. And if
[57:55] Speaker 2: you go back and have a look that there's a
[57:56] Speaker 2: scene where we beat in allth Sydney to get into
[57:59] Speaker 2: the Grand Fire. And I don't remember this at the time,
[58:01] Speaker 2: but they're showing the vision and Chief gets off the
[58:03] Speaker 2: bus right and there's all these fans there, a lot
[58:06] Speaker 2: of the old ladies who support and he got off
[58:08] Speaker 2: and he went, guys, I just want to say this.
[58:12] Speaker 2: I just cannot tell you how much it means to
[58:14] Speaker 2: us that you follow us everywhere and everything. Now, guys, look,
[58:17] Speaker 2: I can't guarantee we're going to win next weekend. It's
[58:20] Speaker 2: mainly but I tear what we're going to do her
[58:22] Speaker 2: very best for you, right, And it was just so genuine.
[58:25] Speaker 2: You see people sometimes addressed.
[58:27] Speaker 1: Fans, you know who it reminds me of like when
[58:29] Speaker 1: they speak and you just know, like it doesn't matter
[58:31] Speaker 1: what comes out of her mouth because it's so genuine.
[58:33] Speaker 1: Jake Borovich, you know when Jakie speaks and it's like
[58:37] Speaker 1: so honest and so well like it's not just like
[58:40] Speaker 1: you know, we're going to go out there and do
[58:41] Speaker 1: our bet, like it's coming from such a loving r
[58:47] Speaker 1: sorry for you and you just want to cuddle him.
[58:48] Speaker 3: When But tell me more about Chief, because like I
[58:51] Speaker 3: only knew him as like the dad, as the parent,
[58:54] Speaker 3: as a guy that would come and play with us,
[58:56] Speaker 3: Like he's the type of guy that, like we lost
[58:58] Speaker 3: my granddad a couple of years ago the Gold Coast,
[59:01] Speaker 3: just for the funeral, Like this is just the type
[59:02] Speaker 3: of guy he is. We had an awesome chat there,
[59:05] Speaker 3: but from like a teammate like mate point of view,
[59:07] Speaker 3: how how did you find him?
[59:09] Speaker 2: Like what was the loved him? Yeah? We just yeah,
[59:12] Speaker 2: that group blades were really close and he was the
[59:15] Speaker 2: one really bound us together. So it's talking about a
[59:18] Speaker 2: little like a couple of really quick story, isn't it,
[59:20] Speaker 2: which I think sums him up. As we're leaving Newcastle
[59:24] Speaker 2: to get on the highway or at West Walls End,
[59:26] Speaker 2: there was about probably ten thousand people just lined on
[59:29] Speaker 2: the streets and this bloke held up a sign one
[59:31] Speaker 2: more round, one more round, and I remember, Chief can
[59:35] Speaker 2: sure talk about this is bad? Remember, Chief broke it.
[59:39] Speaker 2: He broke into tears, and he turned around and said,
[59:42] Speaker 2: there's no fucking way we're coming back into this town, losers.
[59:45] Speaker 2: And then we went down and I remember the night
[59:48] Speaker 2: before the game and we had a meeting as a
[59:53] Speaker 2: term and it was just everyone's just everyone wanted to
[59:55] Speaker 2: be somewhere else. I want together, movies or whatever, you know,
[59:58] Speaker 2: and we're having dinner and he can up and said, Chimp,
[1:00:00] Speaker 2: that was just shit, you know. He said we've got
[1:00:03] Speaker 2: to well, we've got to just have a moon and
[1:00:04] Speaker 2: just the boys, and I went, oh, Chief, anyway, he
[1:00:08] Speaker 2: just he had his way and he said, right, everyone
[1:00:10] Speaker 2: in the room, just just the players. He got in
[1:00:11] Speaker 2: there and he just ran fucking right. Everyone going to
[1:00:14] Speaker 2: go through the room and everyone's got to talk about
[1:00:16] Speaker 2: what it needs to win this fucking game. And I
[1:00:19] Speaker 2: remember the last bloke it got to remarked Lenville, and
[1:00:26] Speaker 2: and MG was a bloke. He submitted himself. He's just
[1:00:29] Speaker 2: a cold, hard pro. He used to say, if they
[1:00:31] Speaker 2: didn't pay me, I wouldn't play, and it was. He
[1:00:34] Speaker 2: was one of the first guys ever signed for the Knights,
[1:00:37] Speaker 2: and I remember it was his last ever game for
[1:00:39] Speaker 2: the club. And I remember when he goes, MG, you're last,
[1:00:42] Speaker 2: and we're sitting there and we can't there's no sound
[1:00:45] Speaker 2: in the room. And then we turned around. He was crying,
[1:00:49] Speaker 2: and I remember Joey jumped on the bat and said,
[1:00:51] Speaker 2: we fucking got him. We've won. And I remember that feeling,
[1:00:54] Speaker 2: you know, and that's chief now that that's that's that's
[1:00:58] Speaker 2: a captain man.
[1:00:59] Speaker 3: Thanks for sharing that. I love. I love hearing those
[1:01:06] Speaker 3: stories because I don't like we didn't get to play
[1:01:08] Speaker 3: with him, we didn't get to see him in that
[1:01:09] Speaker 3: time when we're so young. She'd be able to hear
[1:01:11] Speaker 3: those stories is really beautiful, So thanks me.
[1:01:14] Speaker 2: It's a great man.
[1:01:15] Speaker 1: It makes you want to like, it makes you want
[1:01:18] Speaker 1: to play with a ball like that because it literally
[1:01:20] Speaker 1: I I can feel the emotion through you. But it's
[1:01:23] Speaker 1: also like to have someone there who brings everyone together
[1:01:28] Speaker 1: like that, it's so leaning into a grand.
[1:01:30] Speaker 3: Far not even just in footy, but just in fucking life.
[1:01:33] Speaker 3: You know, Like they're the type of people that you
[1:01:34] Speaker 3: want in your circles and you gravitate towards you know
[1:01:37] Speaker 3: what I mean. Like footy is a time of our lives,
[1:01:39] Speaker 3: as we know that will come and go, but like
[1:01:41] Speaker 3: we've got so much more time. It's like the people
[1:01:43] Speaker 3: that we want to knock around it like talk about
[1:01:45] Speaker 3: like positive mental health or Movember we're trying to raise
[1:01:48] Speaker 3: money through these marathons. It's like it's all around community,
[1:01:51] Speaker 3: and it's all around crew. Like community is one of
[1:01:53] Speaker 3: the best preventative factors towards like having a bad day
[1:01:56] Speaker 3: of stress, poor mental health, or whatever you want to
[1:01:58] Speaker 3: call it. Like that is one of the best things.
[1:02:00] Speaker 3: And we hang have crew like that. It's like, fuck,
[1:02:02] Speaker 3: that's what you.
[1:02:03] Speaker 2: Want around amazing pop humans. What we we're tribal, you know,
[1:02:07] Speaker 2: we're pack animals a lot of times. And I was
[1:02:09] Speaker 2: flying back, flying back from Canberra, and I'm looking at
[1:02:13] Speaker 2: just this area in the middle of nowhere and there's
[1:02:15] Speaker 2: like sort of hundred houses all together, and I just
[1:02:18] Speaker 2: got that that's we're tribal and so we you know,
[1:02:21] Speaker 2: and when we love, and we so easily lose that connection,
[1:02:24] Speaker 2: particularly men.
[1:02:25] Speaker 1: Yeah, we do, certainly. Thanks for coming on making my
[1:02:28] Speaker 1: dad cry.
[1:02:31] Speaker 3: I was expecting cry when I'm hungover.
[1:02:36] Speaker 1: I've heard him tell that story fifty times and it's
[1:02:39] Speaker 1: the most emotional telling.
[1:02:41] Speaker 2: You know. I hang out driving home before could you?
[1:02:43] Speaker 2: And I just got got a really emotional in the
[1:02:45] Speaker 2: car and I pulled over in the side of the
[1:02:46] Speaker 2: road and I sent because Trisha's away at the moment, India,
[1:02:49] Speaker 2: and I said, Trisha, you know what our time apart
[1:02:52] Speaker 2: makes me just realize how much I love you, darling.
[1:02:55] Speaker 2: I'm going to find you in the afterlife. And then
[1:02:57] Speaker 2: she text me that goes, oh you know you have
[1:02:59] Speaker 2: you been.
[1:03:00] Speaker 1: Any love you to know mess like that, I'll find
[1:03:06] Speaker 1: you in the afterlight. That's a crime for hell, We'll.
[1:03:12] Speaker 2: Tell you what I did one so I got there
[1:03:13] Speaker 2: and I'll have me to fund. I used to get
[1:03:15] Speaker 2: this sometime of Cen. Tricia text and I go, oh, man,
[1:03:19] Speaker 2: you put your lingerie on wait till I get home,
[1:03:21] Speaker 2: and all that sort of stuff, and she'd be she'd
[1:03:23] Speaker 2: come back and just go she go yeah, yeah, laugh,
[1:03:25] Speaker 2: laugh laugh. Anyway, I was down to the boot club
[1:03:27] Speaker 2: once and she text me and goes, oh yeah, what
[1:03:29] Speaker 2: are you doing? But hell and get me back and
[1:03:31] Speaker 2: I and I ticked back and I went, oh mate,
[1:03:33] Speaker 2: you wait till mate, you wait till I get back.
[1:03:35] Speaker 2: You just get ready, mate, We're going to have a night.
[1:03:37] Speaker 2: You will not forget. Anyway, I accidentally sent it to
[1:03:41] Speaker 2: the boxing train to Johnny Lewis.
[1:03:46] Speaker 1: It's just what thanks thanks for coming over seriously, mate, Yeah, yeah,
[1:03:58] Speaker 1: good luck for the marathons, right, we're gonna whipping your home.
[1:04:00] Speaker 1: I appreciate market for it.
[1:04:02] Speaker 3: Market I'm not sure I probably wouldn't be paying, to
[1:04:05] Speaker 3: be honest. Just get through the seven.
[1:04:07] Speaker 2: Of the mate for coming. We're going to buy a
[1:04:09] Speaker 2: Titans membership, something.
[1:04:12] Speaker 3: I've always wanted to. I'm very grateful. Thank you take
[1:04:16] Speaker 3: us to be r Yeah
