[0:02] Speaker 1: Oh it's a bit late. You reckon.
[0:06] Speaker 2: See if a ship, bro, this is what it's all about.
[0:10] Speaker 2: You when you win, what do you do, dude?
[0:14] Speaker 3: Have a sh Yeah, have a drink. Yeah. It's funny
[0:17] Speaker 3: because that trophy you're drinking out of you throw it
[0:20] Speaker 3: off the balcony at half time you can see the
[0:23] Speaker 3: dings and.
[0:23] Speaker 2: I got it super glued. And now it's bark and
[0:26] Speaker 2: this is what we do. The series is ours.
[0:28] Speaker 1: Half times about the twenty minute.
[0:29] Speaker 2: The gold jacket's yours, Nathan.
[0:30] Speaker 3: So the victor the spoils there you look at that.
[0:34] Speaker 3: What a man drinking like?
[0:36] Speaker 2: It's I hope Laurie's doing the same thing in the
[0:39] Speaker 2: sheds right now?
[0:39] Speaker 3: What about laws like the at the end there, he's
[0:42] Speaker 3: just I couldn't have to a better bloke, you know,
[0:46] Speaker 3: I was explaining to Jack's partner Gym. Were sitting up
[0:49] Speaker 3: there and we had a bit of a conversation over
[0:52] Speaker 3: dinner pre pre dinner before origin, as we all we
[0:57] Speaker 3: do sitting around. We have the chicken, the rest tato,
[1:00] Speaker 3: sweet potato broccolini with some corn.
[1:03] Speaker 2: That was good dinner.
[1:04] Speaker 1: It was let's get to the game.
[1:05] Speaker 3: And Jem said to me, Jem said to me, Oh, so, Matte,
[1:09] Speaker 3: did you ever play State of Origin?
[1:12] Speaker 2: I could tell that hurt you. I could actually tell
[1:14] Speaker 2: that hurt you.
[1:15] Speaker 3: No, that didn't hurt me. What hurt me was Trish Gunner.
[1:18] Speaker 2: She laughed and pointed in.
[1:21] Speaker 3: She was she was drinks and but then I was
[1:23] Speaker 3: pointing out different things and I said to her about
[1:26] Speaker 3: Lorry Daily, and I said, to see that bloke, he's
[1:28] Speaker 3: a new South Wild coach. He is the best bloke.
[1:30] Speaker 3: So he is the best. You don't meet better guys
[1:33] Speaker 3: than Lord Happy.
[1:34] Speaker 1: Jim's got a really good eye for it. She said, Oh,
[1:36] Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know about that.
[1:37] Speaker 2: And the good thing is that we've won, like with
[1:40] Speaker 2: the series is ours now we definically won. And what
[1:43] Speaker 2: I want to also plug before we get into the game, Matthew,
[1:46] Speaker 2: Mate v Mate, hats in Maron and in Blue. They're
[1:49] Speaker 2: going live when this is out. They're going live tonight Thursday,
[1:52] Speaker 2: six pm, Jackson, six pm Thursday. Get them, get them
[1:55] Speaker 2: while they're hirt in time for State of Origin two dog.
[1:58] Speaker 2: Because this is I can already tell that was the
[2:00] Speaker 2: greatest Game of Origin I've seen in my lifetime. And
[2:01] Speaker 2: it's only going to get better. Also, just for our
[2:05] Speaker 2: podcast listeners, make sure to leave us one of those
[2:08] Speaker 2: nice reviews. We want to get to about seven hundred
[2:10] Speaker 2: and fifty reviews, and our YouTube subscribers we're going to
[2:13] Speaker 2: get up to about thirty thousand. So help us this
[2:16] Speaker 2: origin our goal this year, thirty thousand. Get us up there.
[2:18] Speaker 2: I want to buy the end of the origin period.
[2:20] Speaker 2: But Matthew John's, I mean, what a roller coaster of
[2:24] Speaker 2: the game. Let's get straight into it. How did you
[2:26] Speaker 2: see it?
[2:26] Speaker 3: What was my first statement in the first couple of minutes.
[2:30] Speaker 2: Do you remember you said it's physical and the refs
[2:34] Speaker 2: are just letting this go.
[2:35] Speaker 3: I did, but I also said errors and penalties dictate
[2:38] Speaker 3: dominance and state of origin football. And if you look
[2:40] Speaker 3: at early like New South Wales performance, I'll just say this,
[2:43] Speaker 3: generally New South Wales performance was just riddled with errors,
[2:48] Speaker 3: most of which unforced. But all those erarors I've forgotten
[2:53] Speaker 3: just rendered pointless by the ultimate eraror. And the ultimate
[2:56] Speaker 3: error in the game was Klan's defensive high shot which
[2:59] Speaker 3: left Tolukohla unconscious on the floor. And what that happened
[3:04] Speaker 3: at that point? The score is twenty to six, Queensland's
[3:07] Speaker 3: ways other whiles down man, I'll be honest, Queensland's dominance
[3:13] Speaker 3: up to them twenty to six really flattered us, I'll
[3:16] Speaker 3: be honest with that. But you know what happened when
[3:19] Speaker 3: he was sent off and with the score twenty to six, Kaylon,
[3:22] Speaker 3: we had no choice news but to throw off the
[3:24] Speaker 3: shackles really and the conservative football which they imposed upon
[3:28] Speaker 3: themselves and just go after the result. And boys, it
[3:32] Speaker 3: was more than a numerical advantage. What it was. Queensland
[3:35] Speaker 3: suddenly tread water. You know that they tread water went
[3:38] Speaker 3: back that they went, They went off the offensive. They
[3:41] Speaker 3: started to try to defend their way.
[3:43] Speaker 2: To victory and just hang on and they nearly did.
[3:47] Speaker 3: And we just stole that. We stole the underdog mentality office,
[3:51] Speaker 3: We played aggressive, We went over them and it's the
[3:53] Speaker 3: biggest and we stole the result. It stole the result.
[3:56] Speaker 3: We stole the mentality off and we stole the result.
[3:58] Speaker 3: It's the biggest turnaround in Origin history. I'm not talking
[4:01] Speaker 3: about points. I'm talking about momentum and I'm talking about
[4:04] Speaker 3: attitude and mentality.
[4:06] Speaker 2: I think it nearly is the biggest comeback in State
[4:08] Speaker 2: of Osian history. As well, I believe.
[4:10] Speaker 1: I think it was for the Blues.
[4:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, which is impressive. Spose, I'm going to hang
[4:16] Speaker 2: before we get it, talk about some of the big
[4:18] Speaker 2: moments in the games, individual's performances, potentially what happens next
[4:21] Speaker 2: next out of game two? Can we just have an
[4:24] Speaker 2: opinion because I know a few people have had their
[4:26] Speaker 2: opinion on whether the KP sinbin was a sin bin
[4:29] Speaker 2: or whether it should have been ten send off or
[4:32] Speaker 2: should or whether it should have been ten in the bin.
[4:35] Speaker 2: How did you see it?
[4:36] Speaker 3: I thought it was to send off.
[4:37] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[4:38] Speaker 3: On the way the game is adjudicated, there's certain interpretations
[4:43] Speaker 3: I think. I'm sorry. Club football is different origin football
[4:47] Speaker 3: in the way it's refereed apart from I think foul play.
[4:51] Speaker 3: And we saw Joseph Swally sent off.
[4:56] Speaker 2: Two years ago, first five minutes, first five minutes.
[5:00] Speaker 3: It was probably a more dramatic tackle on Reese Walsh
[5:03] Speaker 3: and it was on Tolu, but in my poks still
[5:07] Speaker 3: a send off. Yeah. It was a shoulder to the head.
[5:10] Speaker 3: And although as I said, although it was refereed differently
[5:12] Speaker 3: or slower rucks less six against foul play, it doesn't
[5:16] Speaker 3: get rule. It doesn't get referred to any different and.
[5:18] Speaker 2: I get there. I could see the Queensland argument. They
[5:20] Speaker 2: were saying, well, most of the it was like it
[5:23] Speaker 2: was a head clash. It was, and you could see
[5:25] Speaker 2: that majority of the contact was on the head. But
[5:27] Speaker 2: the rareity is when you have the shoulder charging action
[5:31] Speaker 2: and there was some contact with the shoulder, although most
[5:33] Speaker 2: of it and probably the knockout part was the head clash.
[5:37] Speaker 2: How it looked didn't look didn't look good for.
[5:40] Speaker 1: Kalem for the fact that even then, like there's any contemplation,
[5:44] Speaker 1: like even just anything that there's like it's controversial in
[5:47] Speaker 1: any way for me, thinks it's more towards a ten
[5:50] Speaker 1: of the bin than a sin bin. For me, I
[5:52] Speaker 1: always thought that in rugby league, a send off, a
[5:55] Speaker 1: complete game send off is there is there is no
[5:58] Speaker 1: doubt that it was foul play, and there was. I
[6:01] Speaker 1: think the fact that there was blood on his ears
[6:03] Speaker 1: probably lent to the fact that I did think there
[6:05] Speaker 1: was some contact with the shoulder, but probably lent to
[6:08] Speaker 1: be justified. I think if it was ten the bin,
[6:11] Speaker 1: everyone would have been pretty happy.
[6:13] Speaker 3: You know.
[6:13] Speaker 2: The only thing, I think, the only thing that made
[6:16] Speaker 2: it the sendoff rather than ten in the bin. Was
[6:19] Speaker 2: the fact he didn't wrap the arm. Yeah, if KP didn't,
[6:21] Speaker 2: if Caylen didn't have that tucked and it was and
[6:24] Speaker 2: to the ref's eye, naked eye, it looks like a
[6:26] Speaker 2: shoulder charge because of that. Even though the shoulder charge
[6:29] Speaker 2: probably had nothing to do with the knockout, it was
[6:31] Speaker 2: more so the head clash and the top of the shoulder.
[6:33] Speaker 2: If he'd wrapped that, I think, even though it would
[6:35] Speaker 2: have still knocked Holler out, I think they go ten
[6:37] Speaker 2: in the bin.
[6:38] Speaker 3: But we all know the rules on high shots. We
[6:40] Speaker 3: all know the rules, and at the end of the day,
[6:43] Speaker 3: it was reckless. It was extremely reckless. And as you
[6:45] Speaker 3: said before, there's rules against shoulder charges. Shoulder charge is penalty. Anyway,
[6:50] Speaker 3: shoulder charge someone like he did in the head and
[6:52] Speaker 3: you render someone unconscious on the floor, you're going to
[6:54] Speaker 3: get set off.
[6:55] Speaker 2: Yeah.
[6:56] Speaker 3: And I know there was a lot of talk between
[6:57] Speaker 3: Joey and camera Smith saying it should be should be
[6:59] Speaker 3: just I disagreed. I thought the moment he hit him
[7:02] Speaker 3: and what happened with Kohler on the ground, I thought
[7:05] Speaker 3: it was send off. And people will saying, oh, you know,
[7:06] Speaker 3: players being injured you know, you shouldn't be punished if
[7:10] Speaker 3: they're injured or not. It should be you know, how
[7:14] Speaker 3: a player, how a team is affected by your foul
[7:16] Speaker 3: play should result on how how referee adjudicates to what
[7:20] Speaker 3: you've done. Yeah, and so I just thought I thought
[7:23] Speaker 3: it was the same.
[7:23] Speaker 2: I mean, it's good. It was good for the Blues.
[7:26] Speaker 2: It was good for us obviously, but not just for
[7:28] Speaker 2: the fact of you know, they get twelve, but also
[7:31] Speaker 2: I think their best player, Kaylen Ponger, who had been
[7:34] Speaker 2: their most threatening asset the whole game. Every time I
[7:37] Speaker 2: got the footy. He made our offenders look bad and
[7:40] Speaker 2: he put our edges under pressure. They took their biggest
[7:42] Speaker 2: attacking threat off, which I thought was just a huge
[7:45] Speaker 2: because you could see like the win that got in
[7:47] Speaker 2: the sales straight after that for the Blues. They actually
[7:50] Speaker 2: scored two plays later through recent strange got brought back
[7:53] Speaker 2: from obstruction. But the confidence they got just having someone
[7:57] Speaker 2: with the aura of kaylen pong and what he'd been
[7:58] Speaker 2: doing to a more game off like you could see
[8:01] Speaker 2: the wind in the sails of the new.
[8:02] Speaker 3: We'll talk about in a second our thoughts on how
[8:05] Speaker 3: the game would have panned out if Caaylen wasn't sent
[8:07] Speaker 3: off and I wasn't thirteen versus twelve. But firstly, just
[8:09] Speaker 3: some of the performances Nathan, it was shades of twenty
[8:14] Speaker 3: twenty two Grand Final, almost identical twenty twenty three apologies,
[8:18] Speaker 3: do you know, like excuse you could almost thank you
[8:21] Speaker 3: very much. You could almost feel you could almost sense
[8:25] Speaker 3: the opinions starting to form. Couldn't on Nathan's performance, people saying, ah,
[8:30] Speaker 3: there he is, you know, like doesn't dominate origins, no impact,
[8:33] Speaker 3: non origin player, a great, great club player, an average
[8:36] Speaker 3: Origin half back. Truth is it took him that long
[8:39] Speaker 3: to get in the game simply because his fords just
[8:41] Speaker 3: couldn't get forward. Our yardage was just so lousy for
[8:45] Speaker 3: the first sixty minutes. We look like we look like
[8:48] Speaker 3: old men out there compared to them. If you look
[8:50] Speaker 3: at that try that Tommy Flegglers called, I mean it
[8:54] Speaker 3: was like, honestly, I could have ran through that hole
[8:57] Speaker 3: in the school. I mean your grandfather Garypock, he could
[9:00] Speaker 3: have ran straight through school.
[9:02] Speaker 2: That dry And it was like you said, that first
[9:04] Speaker 2: twenty minutes, I think we had two yard There was
[9:06] Speaker 2: a real armress that was physical. The refs were letting
[9:08] Speaker 2: it go and just be a bit of a basher
[9:10] Speaker 2: and we made two errors out of yardage and then
[9:14] Speaker 2: after fifteen minutes you could physically see the fatigue on
[9:16] Speaker 2: the U Sol's forward pack, like not getting our body
[9:19] Speaker 2: front the play. The balls were so quick, which brought
[9:21] Speaker 2: you know, Kayleb Ponger, Sam Walker, Camera Monster, and particularly
[9:25] Speaker 2: Harry Grant that try that you spoke about Tom Flegler.
[9:27] Speaker 2: Harry Grant gets out on fifth tackle. If you go
[9:30] Speaker 2: back and look at it, Nathan Clear is actually at
[9:32] Speaker 2: a like in the middle of the field and he's
[9:34] Speaker 2: ten meters wide from the ruck because he's expecting someone
[9:37] Speaker 2: else to come. But everyone was so tired they couldn't
[9:39] Speaker 2: get there, and the whole line has to collapse, which
[9:42] Speaker 2: everybody has to come in to try to tighten up.
[9:45] Speaker 2: And the fourth man along couldn't tighten up quick enough,
[9:47] Speaker 2: which was Hamololo Kawatu, which ended up being the hole
[9:50] Speaker 2: that Harry ends up flicking at the Sam Walker and
[9:52] Speaker 2: Tom Flegler just pushes into space. It was it was
[9:56] Speaker 2: a great team and eyes like a really good identification
[10:01] Speaker 2: try from Queensland and Harry to react to that. But
[10:03] Speaker 2: it was a pure fatigued try. You know, if we're fresh,
[10:06] Speaker 2: we're not making errors. And we've been dominating that first
[10:09] Speaker 2: twenty minutes. Like Queensland had to us. We probably react
[10:13] Speaker 2: quicker and we stopped that try.
[10:15] Speaker 3: Jenno Cooper in the first and Jack in that first
[10:18] Speaker 3: probably sixty minutes. I'm sitting there just going, and particularly
[10:20] Speaker 3: in the first half, I'm watching going. And I've said
[10:23] Speaker 3: this before and credit where it's due. I'm watching go, mate.
[10:26] Speaker 3: Slater's a genius selections. How he does his selections. He
[10:31] Speaker 3: picks left of field players because you know they'll do
[10:33] Speaker 3: the job, play like the young and Max Plath and
[10:36] Speaker 3: so on and so forth, taking the chance on sam
[10:40] Speaker 3: joj Feeder. But secondly, tactically, like those two kick tries,
[10:44] Speaker 3: he's worked in the middle field. He's spotted something into
[10:46] Speaker 3: desk out and he's gone on the middle of field.
[10:49] Speaker 3: Harry Grant as you blokes picked up really selling it
[10:52] Speaker 3: one way in the last minute, turning back and throwing
[10:54] Speaker 3: it to Munster and seeing Walker. They go through basically
[10:57] Speaker 3: identical short little kicks in score and that try. Those tries,
[11:00] Speaker 3: those tries are scored, not by chance, those tries. The
[11:04] Speaker 3: genesis of those tries.
[11:06] Speaker 2: Were in identification from Billy's.
[11:10] Speaker 3: Theater room at home when he sits and watch his tape.
[11:13] Speaker 3: That's where they were mate. But the other thing about
[11:15] Speaker 3: Billy too is his his ability to get players to elevate.
[11:21] Speaker 3: At least some of the performers like Maxie Plaith out
[11:23] Speaker 3: there played so good.
[11:24] Speaker 1: He was he was phenomenal and started and started.
[11:28] Speaker 3: Tommy Flegler, I mean, you know, like I thought, that's
[11:30] Speaker 3: since his return from that hors. I thought, big decision,
[11:35] Speaker 3: that's a huge decision. Robert Toyer, kirk kate Well, kirk
[11:40] Speaker 3: Kate Well.
[11:41] Speaker 1: Made kirk k Well for me, was almost the best
[11:43] Speaker 1: forward out.
[11:45] Speaker 3: And lastly, Sam Walker. Sam Walker was magnificent. Sam Walker
[11:49] Speaker 3: was nine out of ten. It's the best I've ever
[11:51] Speaker 3: seen him kick. Actually that he's the best I've ever
[11:53] Speaker 3: seen him play. He building it was it was everyone
[11:56] Speaker 3: was talking about the similarity between him and Alana. That's
[11:59] Speaker 3: exactly it was laying alike impact.
[12:02] Speaker 2: And you spoke about going back to those two tries
[12:04] Speaker 2: to talk about the Queensland scored the two first really
[12:07] Speaker 2: dynamic tries where they went down there and they kicked.
[12:10] Speaker 2: Robert Toy scored on the right and then the hammer
[12:12] Speaker 2: scored on the left. And you talk about Billy, Billy
[12:16] Speaker 2: sitting in team meetings with Billy when he talks about
[12:19] Speaker 2: fullbacks what they do defensively, James Tedesco both times a
[12:23] Speaker 2: lot of fullbacks they come into the line that we
[12:26] Speaker 2: spoke about, they add an extra defender in the defensive line.
[12:29] Speaker 2: Billy seeing that James Tedesco always will come into the
[12:33] Speaker 2: defensive line, but it will come in on the open side,
[12:35] Speaker 2: so the longer side of the field rather than the
[12:37] Speaker 2: short side, and the game plan was for them rather
[12:40] Speaker 2: than when they see that, go straight to the side
[12:43] Speaker 2: the short side and then go to kick. The little
[12:45] Speaker 2: subtlety of Harry Grant which they'd clearly been practicing, showed
[12:49] Speaker 2: to the side and have present shape there that James
[12:52] Speaker 2: Tedesco said on because it forces him rather than fullbacks
[12:55] Speaker 2: want to sort of present on the open side and
[12:58] Speaker 2: then as soon as it goes the other side, be
[12:59] Speaker 2: able to get and be able to cover the kick.
[13:01] Speaker 2: But because Harry shows to that side, it's like a
[13:03] Speaker 2: little dummy on the inside. Because he shows there, it
[13:06] Speaker 2: forces him to have to get up with the actual
[13:08] Speaker 2: whole defensive line and he can't leave for just an
[13:11] Speaker 2: extra half a second. That extra half a second gives
[13:13] Speaker 2: the attacking center rich Robert Toyer when he scored that
[13:17] Speaker 2: first try, just an extra few meters to get to
[13:19] Speaker 2: the ball on the grave a light, such a detail,
[13:21] Speaker 2: and they did it twice, scored two really easy tries.
[13:24] Speaker 3: For good analysis, Jack, Can you got a pen there, buddy?
[13:27] Speaker 1: I don't.
[13:28] Speaker 3: I was just going to steal all of that from
[13:30] Speaker 3: my article, but that's all right to make myself out. Listen,
[13:35] Speaker 3: I'm sitting there, you know, just just quickly on that.
[13:38] Speaker 3: I'll say this and I mean it when you talk
[13:41] Speaker 3: of it.
[13:43] Speaker 2: I've read it in my phone.
[13:44] Speaker 3: Not you give it just a quick realization. We just
[13:48] Speaker 3: journey away for a second. I said something the other
[13:52] Speaker 3: night on the show who you Have on the show
[13:53] Speaker 3: that night and we're talking about Kieran forun coming his coach,
[13:58] Speaker 3: and he just made It's just so you know he's
[14:00] Speaker 3: up to date. He's just retired. And I'm like, you
[14:02] Speaker 3: know what, Jake your spot on because I'm sitting there
[14:04] Speaker 3: watching the game, right and you boys are talking about
[14:06] Speaker 3: four and three and I understand three, and I get
[14:09] Speaker 3: that we were taught three in football.
[14:11] Speaker 2: Just a half yeah, third defenders.
[14:13] Speaker 3: Third in yep for the numerical advantage. But a lot
[14:15] Speaker 3: of the stuff you boys are talking about it's over
[14:17] Speaker 3: my head because you bloss have just come out of
[14:18] Speaker 3: the game. I'm sitting there going okay, and some of
[14:20] Speaker 3: the stuff I don't understand. You have to sort of
[14:22] Speaker 3: dig deeper. It just shows you why younger coaches have
[14:27] Speaker 3: ascended and the older coach is now going, you know,
[14:29] Speaker 3: have gone backwards suddenly. It's because the game is changing
[14:33] Speaker 3: so much.
[14:34] Speaker 2: I will get i will jump in there for one
[14:36] Speaker 2: second and I'll give you a wrap where a lot
[14:38] Speaker 2: of and I've said this publicly before, I'm pretty sure.
[14:40] Speaker 2: If not, then sorry all the people I'm about Sledge
[14:43] Speaker 2: but Tales were a lot of I feel like a
[14:45] Speaker 2: lot of people who played through your generation, particularly pre
[14:49] Speaker 2: Super League, and then they go into coaching, a lot
[14:51] Speaker 2: of boys who might have them in, you know, going
[14:54] Speaker 2: when they go into Rep camp or Queensland camps, on
[14:56] Speaker 2: New so Wales camps, they come out. I remember being
[14:59] Speaker 2: at Storm and people come out being the coach and
[15:01] Speaker 2: they go he's not a very like he doesn't really
[15:03] Speaker 2: understand the game. Now he understands some principles of the game,
[15:06] Speaker 2: and he's able to get you up emotionally because a
[15:09] Speaker 2: lot of the game back then was just how can
[15:11] Speaker 2: you man manage and get people emotionally physically to go
[15:15] Speaker 2: to war basically. But you're you're one that because you
[15:19] Speaker 2: have also gone into coaching in this era, you understand
[15:22] Speaker 2: a lot of the subtleties are when younger people talk
[15:24] Speaker 2: about it now. But there still are a lot of
[15:26] Speaker 2: coaches out there who have played through that era who
[15:29] Speaker 2: still actually don't understand the modern game and when particularly
[15:32] Speaker 2: when they take over like World Cup jobs or rep jobs,
[15:36] Speaker 2: they can't communicate with players in today's.
[15:39] Speaker 1: Modern game, I wouldn't even know. I'd even sometimes not
[15:41] Speaker 1: even tactics, but sometimes like remember there was a situation
[15:45] Speaker 1: where Matthew, your name was thrown around a few years
[15:47] Speaker 1: ago with origin and you and Wayne sort of mentioned
[15:50] Speaker 1: to you maybe if you if you want to go
[15:51] Speaker 1: onto that you should go and coach a team now
[15:54] Speaker 1: coaching young fellas me and Cooper have done a bit
[15:57] Speaker 1: this year. Yeah, I feel like a lot of that
[15:59] Speaker 1: had to do with not necessarily to do with football.
[16:01] Speaker 1: I think it's just in life, like understanding young people
[16:04] Speaker 1: and the difference in what they are these days compared
[16:07] Speaker 1: to your day, even ten years ago, our day.
[16:09] Speaker 3: Like absolutely, I think every.
[16:11] Speaker 1: Generation has their their changes, like their differences. I think
[16:15] Speaker 1: it's like you have to be able to practice that
[16:17] Speaker 1: daily with those young people to understand that.
[16:19] Speaker 3: I come from near where the coach has carried a
[16:21] Speaker 3: really big stick in video sessions in front of your peers,
[16:25] Speaker 3: all that, and just privately that they carry a big
[16:27] Speaker 3: stick and they whack you with You can't do that
[16:29] Speaker 3: these days. But that's secondary you know as well. But
[16:32] Speaker 3: you're right, Jack, it's just you know, mentality and our
[16:35] Speaker 3: ear has changed. I can coach half still, I can
[16:37] Speaker 3: coach playmakers, get that, But the holistic picture, I've always said,
[16:40] Speaker 3: yeah I could. My my ego, I said I could
[16:43] Speaker 3: go on to coaching. I'll watch it with you boys,
[16:45] Speaker 3: and I go, yeah, I don't know. I don't think
[16:48] Speaker 3: I could. I think I well, if I did, I
[16:51] Speaker 3: tear what, I'd need a lot of young coaches around
[16:53] Speaker 3: me because there's stuff that I wasn't exposed to. I'm
[16:57] Speaker 3: sort of I get all my information, generally fromtical knowledge
[17:00] Speaker 3: from when I played. That's what I understand, and if
[17:03] Speaker 3: I haven't played in this era, where you know it's
[17:04] Speaker 3: just rolling seats, agains and different structures in the defense line.
[17:08] Speaker 2: I have no doubt you could do it, and that,
[17:10] Speaker 2: like you said, have younger coaches around you who they
[17:13] Speaker 2: almost it's like shark tank. They're almost pitching their ideas
[17:16] Speaker 2: to you and if it makes and if they can
[17:18] Speaker 2: you know, if you agree, then you just filter that through.
[17:20] Speaker 1: It's also it's also a bit of a it's a
[17:22] Speaker 1: filter too, like if they could explain to you and
[17:24] Speaker 1: it makes sense to you and someone who doesn't understand it,
[17:27] Speaker 1: then it will make sense to the players.
[17:28] Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, boys, A question, really important question going forward
[17:32] Speaker 3: in the series. We've beaten Queensland before in game one
[17:35] Speaker 3: and they've come back beat us in the next two.
[17:40] Speaker 3: I want to ask a question there that I don't
[17:42] Speaker 3: want to misconstrued for listeners. It's un New South Wales, like,
[17:47] Speaker 3: do we beat Queensland if Calen Polmer doesn't get so on?
[17:50] Speaker 2: Absolutely not?
[17:51] Speaker 3: Okay, okay, right, right? Then? Can we afford not to
[17:55] Speaker 3: make changes?
[17:57] Speaker 2: I think do we?
[17:59] Speaker 3: Okay, last, I think I'll last get straight. Do we
[18:01] Speaker 3: make changes?
[18:02] Speaker 2: I think there will be some? Yeah, yeah, I do,
[18:04] Speaker 2: I think so. I think it'll be obvious to Larry,
[18:07] Speaker 2: and I think it'd be obvious to a lot of
[18:09] Speaker 2: the key leaders in that state of origin side that
[18:11] Speaker 2: if Kaylen doesn't go off or we don't win that game.
[18:14] Speaker 3: A lot gets forgiven that first sixty minutes. Like the
[18:18] Speaker 3: twenty twenty three Grand Final with Nathan he struggled for
[18:21] Speaker 3: sixty minutes and all of a sudden, the last twenty
[18:23] Speaker 3: minutes he grabs men of the match like he has
[18:25] Speaker 3: to know exactly the same. You forget the first sixty
[18:28] Speaker 3: minutes because in the first sixty minutes you're playing the
[18:30] Speaker 3: poker machines. In the last twenty minutes you're in the
[18:31] Speaker 3: high rollers room. That's the difference. But I think we
[18:36] Speaker 3: have to look at certain things. I think in that
[18:37] Speaker 3: last twenty minutes, I think some of the players save
[18:40] Speaker 3: their jerseys. Yeah, there's a few there. Stephen Crichton will
[18:44] Speaker 3: most definitely remained and I would have picked him anyway
[18:47] Speaker 3: because I actually would have thought and I'll get to
[18:50] Speaker 3: what I would have done. But his first sixty minutes
[18:55] Speaker 3: was probably as a Blue probably the worst he's played
[18:59] Speaker 3: in a blue jersey. His last twenty minutes magnificent.
[19:02] Speaker 2: And I would also say that, and he'd say the
[19:06] Speaker 2: same thing about his own about Brian too, who's been
[19:08] Speaker 2: one of our most consistent but very un characteristic errors
[19:12] Speaker 2: in that first four that was the worst forty minutes
[19:14] Speaker 2: I've seen. He's a play and he's been our best
[19:16] Speaker 2: yardage man for so long.
[19:17] Speaker 3: Katoni on the right right up. He was tortured by Kaylin.
[19:22] Speaker 3: He tortured him until till till Kaylen was sent off
[19:25] Speaker 3: and he got some respite. However, in the last twenty
[19:27] Speaker 3: minutes with the football he was so dangerous, right But
[19:31] Speaker 3: you know they'll be the you know, I think Laurie
[19:33] Speaker 3: will have a look at Katoni. There Mitch Barnett or
[19:36] Speaker 3: massive fan of Mitch, massive fan. But I just want
[19:39] Speaker 3: you to think about this. We look at this in hindsight.
[19:41] Speaker 3: Just think about this in nine sight. Mitch has come
[19:43] Speaker 3: off in acl injury. When you're doing with ac old,
[19:46] Speaker 3: you're not the same You're not the same player. For
[19:48] Speaker 3: ROLLI a two months and he's still working his way
[19:50] Speaker 3: back and his season so far has been really stop
[19:53] Speaker 3: start stop start, and I thought he got gassed really
[19:56] Speaker 3: really early. So I think I think you'll have a.
[19:58] Speaker 2: Little bit what I would say what I'd count just
[20:00] Speaker 2: with that the Barney thing, I think definitely how we
[20:04] Speaker 2: look at the starting front row needs to change, because
[20:06] Speaker 2: you saw how it worked for Queensland. They had like
[20:08] Speaker 2: smaller bodies but leg speed through the middle, and it
[20:11] Speaker 2: torched our bigger ones of Fanil Blake, Robson and Barnett
[20:15] Speaker 2: through the middle. Like we almost need like to pull
[20:18] Speaker 2: one of those big boys off and put like a
[20:19] Speaker 2: Jackson Ford in there with legs.
[20:21] Speaker 3: But I agree with you. The other one is Teddy.
[20:24] Speaker 3: Teddy finished with an amazing flurry. He reminded me like
[20:28] Speaker 3: a heavyweight boxer who's down on points and all of
[20:30] Speaker 3: a sudden finishes with a flurry and pinches the result
[20:33] Speaker 3: by knockout. I think that Lake flurry saved two weeks
[20:38] Speaker 3: of conjecture of should Dylan Edward's going for Teddy?
[20:42] Speaker 2: Yeah that's a fair statement, yep.
[20:44] Speaker 3: And you know, so we have a look at a
[20:46] Speaker 3: few things here. Jacob didn't get on fil Jacob's side food.
[20:50] Speaker 3: I thought our middle struggled in general. I did. I
[20:53] Speaker 3: thought that struggled. The second stin by Faniel Blake was good,
[20:57] Speaker 3: but when you play your first out of origin boys,
[20:58] Speaker 3: I'll say this first. You need to play one a
[21:01] Speaker 3: lot of times to really feel there are exceptions. Exception
[21:06] Speaker 3: he's an exception and Casey McClain. And but like in
[21:10] Speaker 3: the past, Phil gild used to say, mate, when you
[21:12] Speaker 3: play Origin, I'm telling you we get out there, you
[21:14] Speaker 3: got to be read of for it. You've got to
[21:15] Speaker 3: be talking earlier. The game can disappear. I thought his
[21:19] Speaker 3: second stint was good. I think we bring it to
[21:21] Speaker 3: a young bloodhead. I think Jackson Ford, I think you
[21:23] Speaker 3: should come in. Casey McClain. I don't know for who
[21:28] Speaker 3: or what he's going to make a decision. He he
[21:32] Speaker 3: entered a course stadium tonight as a very good young
[21:36] Speaker 3: player made he's left as a genuine star. He is
[21:40] Speaker 3: a star mate, I tell you what he when you
[21:42] Speaker 3: when you look at dally M points, you've got to
[21:45] Speaker 3: consider him for a point where I don't think we
[21:48] Speaker 3: win and I think I think he's one of the
[21:50] Speaker 3: driving forces while we win the football game.
[21:52] Speaker 2: We talk about the big biggest moment on the field, right,
[21:54] Speaker 2: Calen gets sent off and then we have that obstruction
[21:56] Speaker 2: try which Ethan Strain scored. And then from there me
[22:00] Speaker 2: and you actually said it, we said that I don't
[22:03] Speaker 2: know if Actually I don't think Nisil's after that. I
[22:06] Speaker 2: think that obstruction thing's going to rattle them a little bit.
[22:07] Speaker 2: I don't think they're going to come back. The changing
[22:10] Speaker 2: turning moment they put a huge bomb up. All these
[22:13] Speaker 2: Queensland chases going after him. It looks like, oh, we're
[22:15] Speaker 2: going to make an hour off here for nothing. Casey
[22:17] Speaker 2: mcclan gets up, takes a beautiful catch, goes thirty meters,
[22:21] Speaker 2: gets a quick play the ball. From that play, that
[22:23] Speaker 2: was actually the first play where Nisuhil started to go
[22:25] Speaker 2: let's play footy. Hudson Young gets it, rips it out
[22:28] Speaker 2: to Ethan Strange, he finds Stephen Crichton makes a line
[22:31] Speaker 2: break and that's where he did the little around the
[22:33] Speaker 2: back pass to Ethan Stranger who jumps over Sam Walker
[22:35] Speaker 2: and scores. That moment off the back of that denied
[22:38] Speaker 2: try from Ethan Strange five minutes before. That was the
[22:40] Speaker 2: turning point because from there, off that kickoff, they started
[22:43] Speaker 2: actually going let's play footy. And Joey said it in
[22:46] Speaker 2: the coverage. He said, they need to start like through
[22:48] Speaker 2: the midfield, they need to start shifting the footy and
[22:50] Speaker 2: then when they get down into the try line, attacking
[22:53] Speaker 2: the try line, start to go through them. And that
[22:55] Speaker 2: next set, after that strange dry they went hit the
[22:57] Speaker 2: right edge ca Tony's stags made a big line break
[23:00] Speaker 2: and they just started punching holes in them. And from
[23:01] Speaker 2: there it was just it was like a plumber trying
[23:04] Speaker 2: to fix a pipe. There was just leaks everywhere.
[23:07] Speaker 3: I'm going to write that, don't steal it?
[23:09] Speaker 1: Can I also just let people know too, we're doing
[23:13] Speaker 1: a little bit of a lock in next week, sorry tomorrow.
[23:16] Speaker 1: So Matthew is going to come in and he's going
[23:18] Speaker 1: to check out the computers and he's going to have
[23:22] Speaker 1: a look at the comment section on the YouTube and Spotify.
[23:25] Speaker 1: So I encourage people to leave their comment and leave
[23:28] Speaker 1: it for Matthew and he's going to reply to them.
[23:31] Speaker 1: So Matthew on the computers tomorrow between nine and mid day.
[23:34] Speaker 3: Just be patient.
[23:35] Speaker 2: People on the one finger man you any questions you
[23:39] Speaker 2: have for him, anything on the.
[23:41] Speaker 1: Life questions please Lord Stewart questions, Yes.
[23:45] Speaker 3: Yes, on just last case of me claim purely on
[23:50] Speaker 3: the impact. If you go on pound for pound for
[23:52] Speaker 3: minute forget about minutes, but just while you're on there,
[23:55] Speaker 3: the biggest impact you can have made. He's almost your best.
[23:57] Speaker 2: He was just unbelievable and the blokey I tell you
[23:59] Speaker 2: what the blame he went on for Toller Cohler. I
[24:01] Speaker 2: think he was the best up until that point. Nathan
[24:03] Speaker 2: Cleary was consistent all game like. He didn't have a
[24:06] Speaker 2: lot to play behind that first half, but the second half.
[24:08] Speaker 2: Coming to his own talk about Nathan a little bit
[24:10] Speaker 2: after it, Tollu Cohler had some really good moments.
[24:12] Speaker 3: Ethan Strange. Everything we expected, everything that we thought he
[24:15] Speaker 3: could bring to the contest, he did it. Couldn't get
[24:17] Speaker 3: into the game early again like Nathan because of our yardage,
[24:20] Speaker 3: But boy oh boy, do again. Another player arrives at
[24:23] Speaker 3: the ground, A very good young player leaves the start.
[24:26] Speaker 2: I think he had maybe two runs the first half
[24:28] Speaker 2: looked electric when he did get it, but didn't get
[24:29] Speaker 2: a whole lot of footy what he did in that
[24:31] Speaker 2: first half.
[24:31] Speaker 3: Though.
[24:32] Speaker 2: There was a moment there where Queensland I think it
[24:35] Speaker 2: was twenty mil up and they get a quick playable
[24:38] Speaker 2: Harry Grant got out and Munster went to hit a
[24:40] Speaker 2: whole outside b Strange just come out aggressively forced an error.
[24:45] Speaker 2: In that same set, we get a six again, we
[24:47] Speaker 2: get a penalty, and then that's where Hudson Young scores.
[24:50] Speaker 2: Like if we if we you know what we talk about,
[24:52] Speaker 2: if Kaylen Pongker doesn't we talk about if Kayln pok
[24:55] Speaker 2: doesn't go out, we probably don't win. If we don't
[24:57] Speaker 2: score or try that first half and get some sort
[25:00] Speaker 2: if you go in twenty nil at halftime in a
[25:01] Speaker 2: state of origin like that twenty to six, it just
[25:04] Speaker 2: gave us a little bit of hurt.
[25:05] Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Does he leave? Does he
[25:07] Speaker 1: leave Moses out? If Moses available for going.
[25:09] Speaker 3: To mate, you can't drop Strange.
[25:12] Speaker 2: You have to start.
[25:13] Speaker 3: I'll tear you something Jack. There was a lot of
[25:16] Speaker 3: talk around Laurie picking him anyway before that there was
[25:20] Speaker 3: sort of touch and go for a little bit. What
[25:22] Speaker 3: they what I was told sort of heard Ethan's strange.
[25:25] Speaker 3: Chances is that Raiders didn't play magic ground, Okay, hitting
[25:28] Speaker 3: you that last yeah, that last little burst to March.
[25:32] Speaker 2: I think it's definitely Nathan and Strangers, like they're the
[25:35] Speaker 2: halves combination. You've got to have some sort of consistency
[25:37] Speaker 2: after how those two combined.
[25:38] Speaker 3: Tonight Blake Brailey, Blake Brailey, there's some serious thought there.
[25:43] Speaker 3: I was talking to a very good coach recently about
[25:48] Speaker 3: Origin and when I was talking about who you pick,
[25:50] Speaker 3: I was like, man, I think Ryce Robbins, Robson, he's
[25:53] Speaker 3: been more robust. And this coach said to me, no, no, no, mate,
[25:57] Speaker 3: click you pick Brayley. He said, he's just got an
[25:59] Speaker 3: edge and you and he's ready to go. I still
[26:01] Speaker 3: disagree with him, but mate, he won that argument.
[26:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. And Robson did take a lot
[26:05] Speaker 2: of sting out of that game, so it was a
[26:07] Speaker 2: good little combination. But I think we did need to
[26:09] Speaker 2: find a way to get Brails out there earlier because
[26:11] Speaker 2: his creativity and around the rock, particularly when Nathan Cleary
[26:14] Speaker 2: scored the try right behind the post, because Nathan clear
[26:17] Speaker 2: kicked that forty twenty, that nice forty twenty, and then
[26:21] Speaker 2: in that set they were playing a lot more expansive,
[26:23] Speaker 2: creative footy. I think I believe it was Britain a
[26:27] Speaker 2: Kora did had a try saving tackle on Casey McLain
[26:30] Speaker 2: on the left side. Then on the right side, Cam
[26:32] Speaker 2: Munster stops Catoni's stags they'd gone side to side, made
[26:35] Speaker 2: them work, and then Brayley sees his quick playable and
[26:38] Speaker 2: he just got out and Nathan clear just punched a
[26:40] Speaker 2: hole of him like that directness and creativity. It was
[26:43] Speaker 2: like the Harry Grant tries setting up for Todd Flegler
[26:46] Speaker 2: in the first.
[26:46] Speaker 3: Do you remember what we said, Jackman, We said about Joey,
[26:49] Speaker 3: how you played Origin in a map in his head,
[26:51] Speaker 3: sideline sidelines and then start playing through it. And he
[26:54] Speaker 3: said it on the coverage. Lastly, excuse me, emotional. Let's
[26:58] Speaker 3: get an emotional mate. Lastly, mate, Nathan's late genius saved
[27:03] Speaker 3: us in many ways. But I'll tell what all saved
[27:05] Speaker 3: us our bench. Kem Murray, Victor Radley, Casey McClain world
[27:10] Speaker 3: under Laurie made. There was a lot of there's a
[27:12] Speaker 3: bit of criticist. There was a lot of criticism about
[27:13] Speaker 3: the bench. I tear what he nailed it. He got
[27:16] Speaker 3: them right. Victor brought aggression and he brought aggression to
[27:19] Speaker 3: the table. He went after Queensland when others didn't. Kem
[27:22] Speaker 3: murray brought his spoon and footwork. When he came on
[27:24] Speaker 3: the field, things changed immediately. And as we see call
[27:28] Speaker 3: Casey McLain mate, you're a superstar yea.
[27:30] Speaker 2: And we talk about a lot of New South Wales
[27:33] Speaker 2: now and whether the new so whal was going to
[27:34] Speaker 2: make changes. You spoke about some positions there, some blokes
[27:37] Speaker 2: that we might need to find to get back in there,
[27:39] Speaker 2: and you see Casey mclan needs to be there. Maybe
[27:41] Speaker 2: Jack go Ford as well, find a spot. What did
[27:43] Speaker 2: Queensland do?
[27:44] Speaker 3: Right?
[27:44] Speaker 2: Because Queensland played an unbelievable sixty minutes, right, they're all
[27:47] Speaker 2: over us sixty minutes. Yes they got beat Yes we
[27:51] Speaker 2: probably got lucky in won because Kaylen Ponger got sent off.
[27:54] Speaker 2: I don't think we went outside of that moment. Blokes
[27:57] Speaker 2: that potentially could be coming back in I don't know
[27:59] Speaker 2: if Tommy Yeden's back for game two, but Sam Walker
[28:02] Speaker 2: and Munster and Xavier Coats comes back.
[28:05] Speaker 3: Did less the fourteen?
[28:07] Speaker 1: You know? I actually thought Sam Walker probably bought the
[28:10] Speaker 1: best out in Munster as well. I thought like I
[28:12] Speaker 1: thought he did it, like did heaps of First Receiver.
[28:14] Speaker 3: They're very they're very similar. Like sorry, they're not absolutely
[28:18] Speaker 3: similar players, but they're very similar in their attitudes, watch
[28:20] Speaker 3: and react very instinctive. Didn't you would imagine he'll go
[28:24] Speaker 3: into fourteen big, a really big big thing. As far
[28:28] Speaker 3: as the series concern is Calum Poll and his suspension.
[28:32] Speaker 3: You know how long the suspension is it? You know
[28:35] Speaker 3: if he you know, if a big, big booster in
[28:40] Speaker 3: New South Wales, if he misses games two and you
[28:42] Speaker 3: can be filthy, they would be he hamming to fall back.
[28:46] Speaker 3: You know, the halves remain didn't goes into fourteen.
[28:50] Speaker 2: So it's it's I mean it's tough, right because you
[28:52] Speaker 2: look at it, like when you lose, you might look
[28:55] Speaker 2: who can I sort of change or who was out
[28:57] Speaker 2: of form? But you look at that side they all
[28:59] Speaker 2: played like Queensland played unbelievable sixty minutes, just like that
[29:03] Speaker 2: Broncos Pandeth Grand Final. Yeah, like there's not a whole heap.
[29:05] Speaker 2: They they'd actually get a lot of confidence going to
[29:08] Speaker 2: game two. Ye Like, if I'm if I'm a Queensland
[29:11] Speaker 2: I'm looking at that game and I'm going if we
[29:13] Speaker 2: don't do something silly and someone gets sent off, you
[29:15] Speaker 2: know in that instance, like we're all over them. So
[29:19] Speaker 2: do you make changes? I know they've got a couple
[29:20] Speaker 2: of boys pents to come back and to you in
[29:22] Speaker 2: an X.
[29:22] Speaker 3: But look whatever changes Slater makes, you know he's going
[29:28] Speaker 3: to nail them. This is it, mate, This is like, really,
[29:31] Speaker 3: this series is still so much in the balance. Slater
[29:35] Speaker 3: is so good at recognizing something or vulnerability or recognized
[29:40] Speaker 3: the things in the in their own game and the
[29:42] Speaker 3: ability to change it without fear. So they got us
[29:45] Speaker 3: last year, and mate, that's why I think, you know
[29:48] Speaker 3: the old adage, don't change a winning side telling it.
[29:52] Speaker 3: We're going to look at it. We're going to look
[29:53] Speaker 3: at it. If we don't, Okay, I think we're asking
[29:55] Speaker 3: for trouble.
[29:56] Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if because I know they depending
[29:59] Speaker 2: on how Tollowe is. But if Toler goes to left center,
[30:01] Speaker 2: Casey mclank goes to left wing, with the chance that
[30:05] Speaker 2: Xavier Coats come back for that big aerial threat, and
[30:08] Speaker 2: they might move crighton over to the right potentially, I'm
[30:10] Speaker 2: not sure, but.
[30:11] Speaker 3: I'll tell you what.
[30:11] Speaker 1: I think Billy's found a bit of a loophole with
[30:14] Speaker 1: the new rules going to this year. Now, whether he
[30:16] Speaker 1: expected it to be faster fast rucks like it has
[30:20] Speaker 1: been all a year, but anyway, in that first twenty
[30:22] Speaker 1: they had so much ball that the Blues might as
[30:25] Speaker 1: well have had six agains because they were that gassed.
[30:27] Speaker 1: They did you notice Cobber, they they were hitting points
[30:31] Speaker 1: of the back row was just past the far post,
[30:34] Speaker 1: and then they were attacking the short sides wide fours,
[30:36] Speaker 1: and then they were having big long shapes to drag
[30:38] Speaker 1: Teddy away to the long sides, and that Munster and
[30:42] Speaker 1: Sam Walker both had tries off kicks on wide fours
[30:45] Speaker 1: where the four in defender wasn't the back row, it
[30:48] Speaker 1: was the middles. I think it's a pretty smart attactic
[30:50] Speaker 1: by Billy. I think I reckon a few NRL coaches
[30:53] Speaker 1: might actually look at that as a you know, if
[30:55] Speaker 1: you have a few running halves Newcastle, for example, as
[30:58] Speaker 1: a side, you might want to take that tactic going
[31:00] Speaker 1: into your regular season.
[31:01] Speaker 3: You don't used to frustrate the shit out of me
[31:03] Speaker 3: with Newcastle back in the day, and it was exactly
[31:06] Speaker 3: what we've seen tonight. I remember having a casual conversation
[31:08] Speaker 3: with Calen and see, Kaylen, your favorite play, I said,
[31:11] Speaker 3: correct me if I'm wrong. Your favorite play is sweeping
[31:14] Speaker 3: to the left hand side, threatening that third last offenders
[31:17] Speaker 3: chop inside him or goosey and keep going again. That's it,
[31:20] Speaker 3: I said, brother, Let them bring the ball to you.
[31:23] Speaker 3: That's where you position yourself in the sets, let him
[31:25] Speaker 3: move the wall and you bring let them bring the
[31:28] Speaker 3: ball to you at that threat. That's what Slater did
[31:31] Speaker 3: ninety five percent of his game until he got sent off.
[31:34] Speaker 3: He just sat there and went right up boys. All
[31:36] Speaker 3: the sequences were designed to come back to Cayln in
[31:39] Speaker 3: his favorite spots.
[31:40] Speaker 2: The best part about what Bill how he operates is
[31:44] Speaker 2: he looks at everyone's strengths. He goes like he'll ask
[31:46] Speaker 2: him months, how do you play? Do you like to
[31:48] Speaker 2: receive the puddy footy? And how like when is you
[31:51] Speaker 2: at your best? He might say, when I'm flattening the
[31:53] Speaker 2: advantage line off a quick play the ball and I'm
[31:56] Speaker 2: running and he will put you try to game plan
[31:59] Speaker 2: so put you in that position ninety percent of the time.
[32:02] Speaker 2: That's what they did with Caleb on that first half.
[32:04] Speaker 2: They got him that footy on how he likes it
[32:07] Speaker 2: about four or five instances, and particularly even on some
[32:10] Speaker 2: kick returns, even put himself on that side just so
[32:13] Speaker 2: he could put He put Selwyn Cobbo away in a
[32:15] Speaker 2: little line break at one stage. What we did really
[32:18] Speaker 2: good as New so well as in the second half,
[32:20] Speaker 2: was we actually started playing a little bit like playing
[32:22] Speaker 2: to people's strength, getting to Toni Stags early ball, getting
[32:25] Speaker 2: Critter early ball, getting Ted Escal a bit more footy
[32:28] Speaker 2: out the back on that right side, started to put
[32:30] Speaker 2: people in positions which they're actually they're actually strong in,
[32:34] Speaker 2: trying to get Ethan Strange more running opportunities.
[32:36] Speaker 3: Okay, Cood finally our Dellian points one two three, I'll
[32:41] Speaker 3: go long enough. I'll go one point Ethan Strange, two point.
[32:45] Speaker 3: Sam Walker thought he was just fantastic, and three points
[32:48] Speaker 3: when he was in the high rollers room that last
[32:50] Speaker 3: twenty minutes. Nathan Cleary twenty twenty two, all over again.
[32:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, I went three points eighth and Cleary I did
[32:55] Speaker 2: two points Ethan Strange and then I went at one point.
[32:58] Speaker 2: I think he was even in even though the brain fart.
[33:01] Speaker 2: I think Calen Ponger at one point. I think it
[33:03] Speaker 2: was Queensland's best with what he what he did hard, yeah,
[33:07] Speaker 2: and Sam Walker was he was hard to miss out.
[33:10] Speaker 3: What a debut we had two fantastic mate, jack Attack.
[33:12] Speaker 3: There's so many young players who arrived, as I said,
[33:15] Speaker 3: for very good players walking out of their stadium as superstars.
[33:19] Speaker 1: Yeah, Jacko, I had three points. I had Sam Walker
[33:22] Speaker 1: to Ethan Strange and one for Munster y nice.
[33:25] Speaker 2: Oh not a Nathan Cleary thing, I am.
[33:28] Speaker 1: I just I think just other than the sandoff, I
[33:31] Speaker 1: thought Munster and Walker were playing that damn good.
[33:33] Speaker 2: Yeah it was and you know what good to see
[33:36] Speaker 2: Teddy back in the area to have a night, have
[33:38] Speaker 2: a what a great fit, like great moment. He's the
[33:40] Speaker 2: one that ended the drought back in the day scoring
[33:43] Speaker 2: when Blake Ferguson put him away and he scores a
[33:46] Speaker 2: trial of that over the hammer. What a cool moment.
[33:48] Speaker 2: Two minutes ago, like we sort of looked like we
[33:51] Speaker 2: weren't going to score, weren't really throwing two much or
[33:53] Speaker 2: twelve down. Queensland were like you could that. You know
[33:55] Speaker 2: they're going to rally just to try to defend their
[33:57] Speaker 2: ass in true Queensland spirit. Nathan Cleary, it was just right.
[34:02] Speaker 2: It's James tedesco versus Hamma just puts that bomb up
[34:05] Speaker 2: and it was just whoever wants it more? That was good.
[34:08] Speaker 2: You've nearly dropped it.
[34:08] Speaker 3: There's an old saying Cooper, an age old saying Jack,
[34:12] Speaker 3: and it applies to the game tonight. Some of the
[34:14] Speaker 3: performances in this podcast. All's well that ends well, good
[34:18] Speaker 3: Night Australia.
