[0:00] Speaker 1: Welcome, Welcome to the review, Ladies and gentlemen. We're up
[0:04] Speaker 1: to the ground file and qualifiers, but well, a couple
[0:06] Speaker 1: of big games this. Firstly, we're going to talk about
[0:09] Speaker 1: the Sharks and the Raiders. Before we do it, Cooplet's
[0:12] Speaker 1: just disclose why you're looking a little bit shady or
[0:15] Speaker 1: a little bit creepy. Well, you watched the game here
[0:20] Speaker 1: last night, and then the ras man, the ras men
[0:23] Speaker 1: came out of his our garage and said to Coop
[0:26] Speaker 1: bar mate, there's one or two of the boys down
[0:27] Speaker 1: the Coloroid, and you went down there. Next thing you know,
[0:29] Speaker 1: you strolling at seven thirty this morning. Congratulations.
[0:33] Speaker 2: Is that something you would congratulate your son on.
[0:36] Speaker 1: Well, I'm all for having a good time, brother. Where'd
[0:39] Speaker 1: you go? Where'd you finish up at?
[0:41] Speaker 2: I don't I don't even want to talk about it.
[0:43] Speaker 2: You don't want to know, Okay, I don't want to
[0:45] Speaker 2: the less detail.
[0:47] Speaker 1: I don't to criminate yourself.
[0:48] Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, not that I did anything criminally wrong,
[0:51] Speaker 2: but I just I just prefer not to probably disclose
[0:55] Speaker 2: sort of. Yeah, I'm just not proud of it. I'm
[0:58] Speaker 2: not proud of.
[0:59] Speaker 1: Myself trying to legitude should we do a rhyme? Should
[1:03] Speaker 1: we have a guest? We asked the maybe the listeners
[1:06] Speaker 1: to chip in what they believe might have What happened.
[1:08] Speaker 1: Did we're thrown out of anywhere? Uh?
[1:10] Speaker 2: Nah, no no, no, let's just let's let's let's let
[1:14] Speaker 2: sleeping dogs lie. Yeah, let's just not do it.
[1:16] Speaker 1: Well. Thirty to twelve, Sharky's over the Raiders. I want
[1:20] Speaker 1: to talk about the lead up to the game. Firstly, Coop,
[1:22] Speaker 1: and the first thing was Ethan Strange ruled out influenza
[1:27] Speaker 1: two A. Sorry to ab. There's so many letters and
[1:32] Speaker 1: numbers going around A Titus C B A.
[1:35] Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, it's so many different strains.
[1:38] Speaker 1: Well, anyway, he must have got the bad one because
[1:40] Speaker 1: he's a tough kid, and they recoon it the Captain's run.
[1:43] Speaker 1: He's started feel a little bit crooked, and then woke
[1:44] Speaker 1: up yesterday morning and literally couldn't get out of bed.
[1:48] Speaker 1: They caught the doctor and he said there is no
[1:50] Speaker 1: way you should play health wise. Yeah.
[1:52] Speaker 2: They said it was like an actual risk to his health. Like, yeah,
[1:57] Speaker 2: so I never really heard that before.
[1:58] Speaker 1: Whereas if you have sort of.
[2:00] Speaker 2: That flu or influence that people play through it, you
[2:03] Speaker 2: can scale your heart, yeah, but it's actually bad like
[2:06] Speaker 2: you can have long term impact well too.
[2:09] Speaker 1: He was such a loss because he's their vibe. He
[2:12] Speaker 1: brings the energy Ethan and so there was a side
[2:15] Speaker 1: that was already a little bit on the ropes, a
[2:17] Speaker 1: little bit tired. We anticipated that going to take them
[2:19] Speaker 1: a little bit to get up emotionally and to loser
[2:22] Speaker 1: key player like that just takes the edge off a
[2:24] Speaker 1: little bit more going into the game. Raiders were very
[2:26] Speaker 1: quite leading into the game. You know, the only thing
[2:30] Speaker 1: they ever heard was then probably fending off questions about
[2:33] Speaker 1: the previous Sunday's loss and how it would affect them
[2:38] Speaker 1: and affect their energy. They sort of that was about
[2:40] Speaker 1: the only talking point you heard the Raiders talk about.
[2:42] Speaker 1: They sort of kept things under wraps. Sharks have totally
[2:47] Speaker 1: changed their ways the last two week. Sharks have really
[2:51] Speaker 1: talked tough, mate, They've been right up on their toes.
[2:54] Speaker 1: They've been really aggressive going into these games, and I
[2:57] Speaker 1: love it the Sharks. To me, every side has an identity.
[3:00] Speaker 1: But I think about Melbourne, I go a professionalism discipline.
[3:05] Speaker 1: When I think about the Panthers, I think mate, precision.
[3:09] Speaker 1: When I think about the Sharks, I think nice guys,
[3:13] Speaker 1: that's the first come to mind. But the last two weeks, mate,
[3:17] Speaker 1: they've got rid of that persona. They've actually got a
[3:19] Speaker 1: little bit of shit on their liver. They've talked a
[3:21] Speaker 1: big going into games and they've backed it up. I
[3:24] Speaker 1: love it.
[3:24] Speaker 2: Yeah, I think and Ronaldo has been the He's been
[3:27] Speaker 2: the forefront of that. He's done his whole life, let alone.
[3:30] Speaker 1: This year, but Nico last.
[3:32] Speaker 2: But yeah, that's unlike, Yeah, I like, I think a
[3:36] Speaker 2: lot of people I saw I was watching like NL
[3:38] Speaker 2: three sixty and stuff during the week and some of
[3:40] Speaker 2: the journals were a little bit you know, you don't
[3:44] Speaker 2: you haven't earned the right to be respected yet because
[3:47] Speaker 2: until you go down to Canberra and beat Camber in camera. Yeah,
[3:51] Speaker 2: but yeah, that's yeah. But I thought that was pretty
[3:54] Speaker 2: tough call. And I think it's for Nicko to put
[3:57] Speaker 2: himself in that firing line because if he goes out
[4:01] Speaker 2: there and plays a bad game, you know this weekend,
[4:05] Speaker 2: that comes back to bite him in a big way.
[4:07] Speaker 2: I think.
[4:07] Speaker 1: But its performs the last two years.
[4:09] Speaker 2: I think I think since he's dally m year, it's
[4:12] Speaker 2: been his best performance. But yeah, I think I think
[4:16] Speaker 2: putting himself out there to be It's almost a bit
[4:19] Speaker 2: of self accountability. I think, ye like forcing themselves. It
[4:23] Speaker 2: doesn't give him any other option.
[4:24] Speaker 1: Really.
[4:25] Speaker 2: They've sort of sat back in the media. Niko has
[4:28] Speaker 2: particularly this year at times. But I think when you
[4:31] Speaker 2: go out in front of the cameras and throw, you know,
[4:34] Speaker 2: say that like we want to be respected, YadA YadA,
[4:37] Speaker 2: it forces leading into the game to be so precise
[4:42] Speaker 2: with your preparation because he knows that if he goes
[4:44] Speaker 2: out there and has a bad game, that he's going
[4:46] Speaker 2: to get publicly criticized.
[4:48] Speaker 1: And I just find it strange that people would say that, oh,
[4:50] Speaker 1: you know, what are they doing talking up? You don't
[4:52] Speaker 1: do that. They haven't earned the right. Hang on a second, mate,
[4:56] Speaker 1: you're going down and win it. You're going down to
[4:57] Speaker 1: win finals match. You don't want to go down meek
[5:00] Speaker 1: and mild with your cap in hand, going oh you know,
[5:02] Speaker 1: and tippy toe on and playing on eggshells, playing nervous.
[5:06] Speaker 1: Make you get into them, get on the front foot.
[5:08] Speaker 1: It's a mind game. Yeah, it's a mind game. They
[5:11] Speaker 1: saw a Canber side that was a little bit on
[5:13] Speaker 1: the ropes and vulnerable after what happened the previous Sunday
[5:16] Speaker 1: and they went from.
[5:17] Speaker 2: Yeah, because I watched that. I watched Ricky and Joe
[5:20] Speaker 2: Tarpei in the press conference and they got asked that
[5:23] Speaker 2: did that loss sort of affect you guys? And they
[5:26] Speaker 2: were pretty strong on No. We came in Tuesday and
[5:29] Speaker 2: we left it all. But you could tell to yeah,
[5:32] Speaker 2: because that first twenty minutes they were strong, they like
[5:35] Speaker 2: and Sharks matched them physically and you know, there wasn't
[5:40] Speaker 2: a try until twenty minutes in, but you could tell
[5:43] Speaker 2: at that back end of the game that fatigue, just
[5:46] Speaker 2: the fatigue of that game. And last week it just
[5:48] Speaker 2: got to them because some of the tries that were
[5:49] Speaker 2: scored quite quite easy.
[5:51] Speaker 1: We'll map the game in a second coup. I just
[5:54] Speaker 1: want to talk firstly about the late season surge from
[5:57] Speaker 1: the Sharks, because all year they've been so so would
[6:00] Speaker 1: you say that, like, yeah, how the shows, Oh yeah,
[6:02] Speaker 1: they're hard to get a read on, sign under the
[6:04] Speaker 1: radar bit. But this late season surge, and I'll tell
[6:07] Speaker 1: you what it is, mate. They've got firstly, a really
[6:10] Speaker 1: powerful yardage combination there which is formed and it's Ronaldo
[6:15] Speaker 1: and Naden Faniel Blake. Ronaldo gets some going on early tackles,
[6:19] Speaker 1: Fanel Blake finishes set off, gets Trendle and Nico into
[6:23] Speaker 1: attack position or just at least time to get that
[6:25] Speaker 1: kick away second one. This is huge. The key creative
[6:30] Speaker 1: players have found, not just top four, they have finally
[6:34] Speaker 1: found combination. Trendle, Nicko and Brayley. They're understanding their own strengths.
[6:41] Speaker 1: They're understanding the strengths of the blokes they're playing alongside
[6:44] Speaker 1: and how to compliment those strengths. The three of those
[6:47] Speaker 1: guys last night, how they operate in combination was fantastic.
[6:50] Speaker 1: I love the fact that Nico and Trendle combined numerous
[6:54] Speaker 1: times to make breaks and score tries. That's how Harps
[6:56] Speaker 1: should play as a combination, So I thought that was
[6:59] Speaker 1: good and to coop the other one. They've just got
[7:02] Speaker 1: great back rowers, mate, They're their back rowers were mighty
[7:05] Speaker 1: last night. But I don't know any side in the
[7:07] Speaker 1: competition that relies on their back rowers more than the Sharks,
[7:11] Speaker 1: because the Sharks do have a tendency to just drift
[7:14] Speaker 1: sideways a little bit. Nikera Wilton burns. Mate, they straighten
[7:20] Speaker 1: with those aggressive straight runs and last night they were
[7:23] Speaker 1: tremendous and when you're I'm talking about attack here, but
[7:27] Speaker 1: when when you're a tax on song and you're starting
[7:30] Speaker 1: to swagger because you're a tax going good, it gives
[7:32] Speaker 1: you the motivation to defend your ourself. I'd see that
[7:37] Speaker 1: withsides who struggled at school points. Eventually the pressure of
[7:42] Speaker 1: that just counsel on their defense. But when you can
[7:44] Speaker 1: score points and you've got a bit of that arrogance
[7:46] Speaker 1: about you, mate, you want to defend.
[7:49] Speaker 2: Yeah, And you can see. We're going to talk about
[7:52] Speaker 2: some of the actual tries in a minute, but their
[7:55] Speaker 2: identity that we spoke about last week as well, the
[7:59] Speaker 2: ability to play off quick play the balls and ad
[8:01] Speaker 2: lib footy now yep, Like the years before their knocks
[8:05] Speaker 2: sort of been they set up for these big, long
[8:08] Speaker 2: shifts and plays and they kind of get shut down
[8:11] Speaker 2: and red like because people prepare for that during the week.
[8:14] Speaker 2: It's very easy to prepare for plays and that sort
[8:17] Speaker 2: of predictable stuff. But the tries that they scored in
[8:21] Speaker 2: yesterday's game against Canberra, ninety percent of them I think
[8:25] Speaker 2: everyone one was off a play where Nico hits Malatalo
[8:28] Speaker 2: gets it out the back of a block, yep. But
[8:30] Speaker 2: the rest of them were all add lib footy great,
[8:32] Speaker 2: like that Nico goes down, puts kale Ero through on
[8:35] Speaker 2: a line break and then fifth tackle Trindle gets it,
[8:39] Speaker 2: fifth tackle shapes to kick, flicks Nico under and then
[8:43] Speaker 2: Nico scores like and then.
[8:45] Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of times they're little structured sequences made
[8:49] Speaker 1: the break and their ability to react off that game
[8:52] Speaker 1: the tries.
[8:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I just thought it was good. It was
[8:56] Speaker 2: a good It's a good visual for them going Melbourne
[9:00] Speaker 2: next week to play against the storm of how they
[9:02] Speaker 2: need to play their footage yep, because you're not gonna
[9:05] Speaker 2: Melbourne is so precise with video sessions and how to
[9:08] Speaker 2: shut down key players and they'll know what players that
[9:11] Speaker 2: they like, every individual's favorite foot to step off and
[9:14] Speaker 2: shit like that. The only thing that they can't prepare
[9:17] Speaker 2: for is the footy that they just played against Cambros yep.
[9:20] Speaker 1: The ability to someone to watch spots something and sense
[9:23] Speaker 1: of vulnerability send someone looks a little bit tired, defensive
[9:27] Speaker 1: patterns or defensive defense lines not in order. There's something missing,
[9:31] Speaker 1: that's the stuff that's hard to defend. And what has
[9:35] Speaker 1: to find this final series so far, in my opinion,
[9:38] Speaker 1: is I can't remember a final series where it's almost
[9:41] Speaker 1: like every error is getting punished badly, whether it be
[9:45] Speaker 1: sustained possessions for the side who you know who they surrender, sorry,
[9:50] Speaker 1: sustained possession to the opposition. But the seven tackle sense
[9:55] Speaker 1: a really big one. Seven tackle sets are always costly,
[9:59] Speaker 1: but this final series really have been and it's the
[10:02] Speaker 1: eras that errors that have killed Canbra Canbra in this game, Coop.
[10:11] Speaker 1: They looked physically, you could see, mate, You could see it.
[10:15] Speaker 1: Just the more that Cronulla had the ball, the closer
[10:19] Speaker 1: you could see Canbra getting to hitting the wall. And
[10:22] Speaker 1: in the second half that try the Billy Burns scored. Yeah,
[10:25] Speaker 1: where he wandered up to the line and given the
[10:27] Speaker 1: context of the importance of the game and the fact
[10:30] Speaker 1: that it was twelve all at the time, it was
[10:32] Speaker 1: a soft try, but it was a fatigue try. He
[10:34] Speaker 1: just went through a defense line that had that had
[10:38] Speaker 1: hit the wall. They're wobbling and although it was only
[10:40] Speaker 1: eight and twelve at that point you're going, well, the
[10:42] Speaker 1: game is still a beout. It wasn't. You could see
[10:44] Speaker 1: it with your eye. Canbra were done at that point.
[10:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, and you just said fatigue try I think every try,
[10:52] Speaker 2: I would say probably every tie, including Raiders. That first
[10:55] Speaker 2: trie with Corey Harse were scored.
[10:57] Speaker 1: Yep.
[10:57] Speaker 2: I think that first twenty minutes was so physical, so
[11:01] Speaker 2: such a big arm wrestle that nearly every try after
[11:04] Speaker 2: that was just a fatigue try. And that's why you
[11:06] Speaker 2: saw a lot of players be put on because they
[11:09] Speaker 2: get quick play the balls and then they'd have ad
[11:11] Speaker 2: lib footy and then like that Horse per try, he
[11:14] Speaker 2: had three or four blokes around him and then.
[11:15] Speaker 1: Yeah, well let's let's talk about that. Let's map the
[11:18] Speaker 1: game here. And what was interesting My first observation of
[11:20] Speaker 1: the game coup in the first ten minutes went, well,
[11:23] Speaker 1: Jamal Foggerty's nervous. Yeah, like he's he's Jamal. You know,
[11:27] Speaker 1: winning a competition is just so much. It's as much
[11:31] Speaker 1: about injuries and formers timing, you know, timing your run perfectly,
[11:37] Speaker 1: and who knows where confidence goes? Sometimes confidence comes and
[11:40] Speaker 1: confidence goes sometimes a bit of a mystery. And you know,
[11:44] Speaker 1: the last last week was tough on Jamal, but you've
[11:47] Speaker 1: just seen how that's impacted him. A little dip, his
[11:50] Speaker 1: little dip in confidence there. Yeah, and you saw like
[11:54] Speaker 1: he was like that last week as well. It was
[11:56] Speaker 1: a bit off last week. He had some uncharacteristic errors
[11:59] Speaker 1: against the Bronco. Was like there was the you know,
[12:03] Speaker 1: some poor kicks from him as well, which kicking game
[12:06] Speaker 1: has been his bread and butter his whole career. Yeah,
[12:08] Speaker 1: and he's that's what's really you know, been so pivotal
[12:11] Speaker 1: in that Raiders. But then he also got tackled on
[12:13] Speaker 1: fifth tackle a couple of times, which is very unlike
[12:16] Speaker 1: him because he.
[12:17] Speaker 2: Does all the kicking. Because with Strange being there and
[12:20] Speaker 2: then you know, Ethan Strange not being there, I think
[12:23] Speaker 2: I think it was just a little bit too much
[12:26] Speaker 2: for him because Simmy saying who Jack played with the
[12:29] Speaker 2: Newcastle he actually played quite well.
[12:31] Speaker 1: I thought he was probably the Raiders' best player.
[12:33] Speaker 2: Yeah, which is bizarre because you know he's playing five eight,
[12:36] Speaker 2: which is is a bit foreign for him. But that
[12:39] Speaker 2: was because I think they kind of used him as
[12:42] Speaker 2: a little bit of a forward, like as a runner. Yeah,
[12:46] Speaker 2: there was he made a clean line break at one stage,
[12:48] Speaker 2: just taking on inside a Well.
[12:51] Speaker 1: It's funny the first try that you said up at
[12:53] Speaker 1: the Harsbery try and they led six snil and I've
[12:56] Speaker 1: said about the Raiders errors killed him. All that one
[12:59] Speaker 1: was Cronulla. When I saw what happened. I'll talk about
[13:02] Speaker 1: the mistake in a minute. I actually thought about the
[13:04] Speaker 1: week before Tanner Boyd not putting the kickout, where you're
[13:07] Speaker 1: given an opportunity and you blow it through an unforgivable error,
[13:11] Speaker 1: and that one was Jesse Raymian, like Caronulla had three
[13:13] Speaker 1: sets in a raw. They're attacking their line, they got
[13:16] Speaker 1: they've got an attacking scrum and you're going, you can
[13:18] Speaker 1: see the Raiders they're already mate that they're not defending
[13:22] Speaker 1: with the same sort of energy they had through the year.
[13:25] Speaker 1: And Jesse just drops the ball cold from the scrum
[13:28] Speaker 1: and I've gone, man, that's it, you know, that's that's
[13:31] Speaker 1: an unforgivable error there. And then what happens Camber make
[13:34] Speaker 1: their way down the field and Corey Hallsbrough schools. It
[13:37] Speaker 1: just shows you, you know, the effect that errors and
[13:41] Speaker 1: particularly those really soft errors, those unforced errors, and how
[13:44] Speaker 1: much that hurts you. And so it was when I
[13:49] Speaker 1: look at the game Coup Sharks sorry, Raiders led six
[13:57] Speaker 1: about twenty minutes into the game. But anytime, one of
[14:00] Speaker 1: the things I saw anytime that the Sharks had sustained possession,
[14:03] Speaker 1: like back to back sets or kept the ball for
[14:04] Speaker 1: a few minutes, Mate, you could see how weary, You
[14:07] Speaker 1: could really see how weary the Raiders would get very
[14:10] Speaker 1: very quickly. And that was a cue for what was
[14:12] Speaker 1: going to happen later. But in the lead up to
[14:15] Speaker 1: in the lead up to the Sharks first try to
[14:17] Speaker 1: make him sixty six, it was it was sameras from
[14:19] Speaker 1: the Raiders and it was a poor kick, you know,
[14:22] Speaker 1: you could you could see at that point it was
[14:24] Speaker 1: a really poor kick. They weren't doing the fundamentals right
[14:26] Speaker 1: and it got to the point they just you know,
[14:29] Speaker 1: they couldn't absorb the pressure they were putting themselves under.
[14:33] Speaker 1: And that that try come about could if you go
[14:35] Speaker 1: back and wats their first try try and it again
[14:38] Speaker 1: they attacked that problematic right side defense from the Raiders.
[14:42] Speaker 1: But I don't in a lot of ways, I don't
[14:44] Speaker 1: blame the outside man entirely for it. I'll tell you
[14:48] Speaker 1: what happened when you go back and have a look
[14:49] Speaker 1: at it. The middleman, including Corey Horsebert, they don't really
[14:52] Speaker 1: get up, they sit and so fo he leads the
[14:55] Speaker 1: line up and he realizes, mate, they've not come they've
[14:59] Speaker 1: not really come up, not a square with him. So
[15:01] Speaker 1: what happens is he actually squeezes in just a little
[15:04] Speaker 1: bit and he just goes in and tries to protect
[15:07] Speaker 1: the inside men just a little bit. He squeezes slightly,
[15:09] Speaker 1: and the outside men squeeze in dramatically, and Ronaldo just scores.
[15:15] Speaker 1: There wasn't anyone within ten to fifteen meters of Yeah.
[15:17] Speaker 2: But you talk about the front rowers and the middles
[15:21] Speaker 2: not putting pressure on the half coming out and put helping,
[15:24] Speaker 2: because that's letting people know that's that's as a half
[15:28] Speaker 2: when you when you're attacking the try line, Like there's
[15:32] Speaker 2: just the good sides and the good front rowers when
[15:35] Speaker 2: they're fresh, they come out and put so much inside
[15:37] Speaker 2: pressure on you as a half. That's right, And I
[15:40] Speaker 2: think that's just a byproduct of that first twenty minutes.
[15:43] Speaker 2: There was so much fatigue, Yeah, so much ball in
[15:46] Speaker 2: play that that's where you saw those fatigue easy tries
[15:49] Speaker 2: because foggedy, which it's easy to say, oh, you squeezed
[15:53] Speaker 2: in and do that, but like when you look at
[15:56] Speaker 2: it as an edge, what the defensive system is, he
[15:59] Speaker 2: actually did his role because halves are told and centers
[16:03] Speaker 2: and wingers to protect your inside shoulder. Ye, when a
[16:06] Speaker 2: half goes deep that center and we are told to jam,
[16:09] Speaker 2: they just yeah, I mean they just missed it by
[16:12] Speaker 2: half a second.
[16:12] Speaker 1: But Nico, I do think outside defenders these days too much.
[16:16] Speaker 1: They just race him blindly. Just if you're my inside man.
[16:20] Speaker 1: Just because you make a defensive era, it doesn't mean
[16:22] Speaker 1: I should jump into the fire as well. You know,
[16:24] Speaker 1: I should have the ability to sit and try to
[16:25] Speaker 1: solve it, break out of that defensive system. But it's
[16:28] Speaker 1: funny Sharks suit scored soon after. And if we're talking
[16:31] Speaker 1: about the combination, how Nico and Trendle have finally formed
[16:35] Speaker 1: combination and understanding their roles. I reckon this is the
[16:38] Speaker 1: best example this try and as you said, they attack
[16:40] Speaker 1: down that left hand edge again, the attacking the Raiders
[16:44] Speaker 1: right side defense, and they do a nice little player.
[16:47] Speaker 1: I think. I think it's Trindle that tells why looks
[16:50] Speaker 1: in out the back to Niko and it just disorientates
[16:53] Speaker 1: the defense and the row makes his way down. Next play,
[16:56] Speaker 1: Trindle gets the ball, as you said, just wanders across
[16:59] Speaker 1: the field, wanders holds the ball. Nice little bit of
[17:02] Speaker 1: Finesse inside flick pass, they combine again. Nico scores next
[17:07] Speaker 1: to the post, and it just shows you the roles.
[17:09] Speaker 1: Trendle organize and Finesse, Nico react and run. They've found
[17:14] Speaker 1: their roles. I agree.
[17:15] Speaker 2: I think it's the best that they've combined since they've
[17:19] Speaker 2: been since Moylan left and Tricky Trendle has come into
[17:22] Speaker 2: that side. I think it's the best combination game that
[17:25] Speaker 2: they've ever had together because they linked. They linked so
[17:28] Speaker 2: well together. What you want in your opposite half. Like
[17:30] Speaker 2: when Trendle gets it on fifth tackle and takes off
[17:33] Speaker 2: like that, It'd be easy for Nico to stand back
[17:35] Speaker 2: call for it because it's fifth tackle, right, Like, Nico's
[17:38] Speaker 2: role is to call for it and kick for the
[17:41] Speaker 2: kick for that right winger. But he sees an opportunity
[17:43] Speaker 2: where Tricky has taken off, and rather than sit back
[17:45] Speaker 2: and call for it or just leave Tricky on his own,
[17:48] Speaker 2: he reacts and combines, drops whatever he's doing and just
[17:52] Speaker 2: punch it. Looks to push with him, drops under him,
[17:54] Speaker 2: and then.
[17:54] Speaker 1: Scores a try. Yeah and Coop. Halftime comes right at
[17:57] Speaker 1: the right time for Camebra because Sharks have gone try
[18:01] Speaker 1: try and like sound like a broken record. You can
[18:04] Speaker 1: see them start at really starting fits. They're struggling in defense,
[18:09] Speaker 1: and after halftime they have a really good period with
[18:11] Speaker 1: the Raiders. It's our last good period in the game.
[18:13] Speaker 1: And so the scores twelve to six, they're down. It's
[18:16] Speaker 1: the Sharks. A poor kick from the Sharks which allows
[18:20] Speaker 1: cambrid to wander downfield. Susagi scores to try, but I
[18:25] Speaker 1: guess just allowed Huts and young Steins in the line.
[18:27] Speaker 1: Fair decision. But the next set of next set or two,
[18:31] Speaker 1: they've still got field position and Tamala scores to make
[18:35] Speaker 1: a twelve all and at that point you're going, I'm looking, go, well, okay, okay,
[18:39] Speaker 1: they've rested up at halftime, they've got themselves back in
[18:42] Speaker 1: the game. It's twelve twelve games in the balance. But
[18:46] Speaker 1: then mate, midway midway through that that second half coup,
[18:49] Speaker 1: the Billy Burns try, and this was this was the
[18:53] Speaker 1: curtain being drawn on the Raiders season. They've been doing
[18:56] Speaker 1: a bit of defense. I mean, you know, they've been
[18:58] Speaker 1: holding them out, hanging in there. But Burns gets the
[19:02] Speaker 1: ball and just as I said, wanders and just wanders
[19:05] Speaker 1: through and scores. It's you know, eighteen twelve after the conversion,
[19:10] Speaker 1: effectively the game still you know, it's in the balance still,
[19:13] Speaker 1: but it isn't you see, right Raiders at that point Yeah,
[19:16] Speaker 1: after that, the Sharks start to do whatever they want
[19:19] Speaker 1: with the Raiders.
[19:19] Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think I think a good sort of
[19:22] Speaker 2: visual and sign of the Raiders mentality in this game
[19:27] Speaker 2: was and it wasn't by lack of effort and stuff
[19:31] Speaker 2: like that. I think it was just a big, big
[19:33] Speaker 2: week and a lot of fatigue. But yeh, tricky Bradon
[19:36] Speaker 2: Trindle puts up a torpedo. They let it bounce, you know,
[19:40] Speaker 2: and unfortunate circumstances, you know, I think Weeks or Foggty
[19:45] Speaker 2: someone hits it backward and Arro's there to pick it
[19:47] Speaker 2: up and score under the post, which is a very
[19:50] Speaker 2: unfortunate try. And people say it's lucky. But when you
[19:54] Speaker 2: freeze frame it. When that ball hits the ground, there's
[19:57] Speaker 2: two Raiders jerseys there. Yeah, I think it's Stewart and Weeks,
[20:01] Speaker 2: and I think there's by the time that ball bounces
[20:03] Speaker 2: it's in the air, there's about four Yeah, there's a
[20:06] Speaker 2: four Shark players, right, yeah, yeah, and that's I look
[20:08] Speaker 2: at that. I remember looking at that last night and
[20:11] Speaker 2: I was for me that epitomizes the mentality of teams.
[20:15] Speaker 2: So that's I think it's a good indication of their
[20:20] Speaker 2: effort in their mindset at the time, because the hardier work,
[20:24] Speaker 2: the luckier gae yep, and then jumped that down.
[20:27] Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, it's leading up that try, coop like it
[20:30] Speaker 1: says a lot where cameras for that shirt. Yeah, putting
[20:34] Speaker 1: on a T shirt and well, actually was in the
[20:35] Speaker 1: nice we have it on our backs. Harder I work
[20:37] Speaker 1: like you, I get did you Yeah? Yeah, for sure,
[20:40] Speaker 1: I didn't get lucky, but then it got it worth
[20:42] Speaker 1: that hard either. But leading into that try is it's
[20:46] Speaker 1: twenty to twelve because Brawley does the step before did
[20:49] Speaker 1: a scoop pick it up? They got a penalty made
[20:51] Speaker 1: of twenty to twelve. Yeah, but twenty to twelve. For
[20:53] Speaker 1: all the spectators at the ground, they're still saying it's
[20:56] Speaker 1: game on. But when you're in that situation, you know
[20:59] Speaker 1: your self and your team's under the gun, you know
[21:05] Speaker 1: you can understand the circumstances you find yourself in. And
[21:08] Speaker 1: with the Raiders, this is where they started to lose.
[21:11] Speaker 1: This is where they start to fall. The bits because
[21:13] Speaker 1: Foggedy's sensors. Mate, we need something. They are only about
[21:16] Speaker 1: forty meters out in their own line. He does an
[21:18] Speaker 1: attacking bomb, A poor attacking bomb. Mate. The Sharks pick
[21:21] Speaker 1: it up and just get it in their own forty
[21:24] Speaker 1: two or three plays later, as you said, they're in
[21:27] Speaker 1: an attack position. Trindle puts up the talk per bomb. They
[21:30] Speaker 1: let a bounce and bounces back and they score twenty
[21:33] Speaker 1: six twelve and that's all over and again that fuel position,
[21:37] Speaker 1: the position they found themselves in to put the attacking
[21:39] Speaker 1: kick was becurse of Canbra, it was course of Canber. Mentally,
[21:43] Speaker 1: they just lost their way. They just lost all composure.
[21:47] Speaker 2: How do you see like when you look back at
[21:50] Speaker 2: the raid of season, they obviously performed like this game aside,
[21:54] Speaker 2: right and last week aside. They've had an amazing season
[21:57] Speaker 2: where they've over they've probably exceeded expectations. A lot of
[22:03] Speaker 2: people gave them wouldn't chance, the wouldn't spoon. They proved
[22:06] Speaker 2: everyone wrong. Do you look back at their season now
[22:10] Speaker 2: and think that potentially, I don't want to say they
[22:14] Speaker 2: played their grand final during the year to get to
[22:16] Speaker 2: the minor premiership, but do you think they put so
[22:20] Speaker 2: much emphasis all year on proving people wrong because they
[22:24] Speaker 2: so many people said the Wooden spoon and shit that
[22:27] Speaker 2: when they got to Finals footy, it was like they
[22:29] Speaker 2: were fatigued from just such a larger year.
[22:33] Speaker 1: I just think I think what popped the blurm on
[22:38] Speaker 1: their season was that was that last forty and it's
[22:41] Speaker 1: a regular time against the Broncos. Because they were playing
[22:45] Speaker 1: great football there, you know, it wasn't as they went
[22:47] Speaker 1: into their game and suddenly you know, they were terrible,
[22:51] Speaker 1: and you know, and you know, they basically cut their
[22:53] Speaker 1: own throats in the game. Their biggest crime was there
[22:55] Speaker 1: they just stopped playing and they didn't. I'm not going
[23:00] Speaker 1: to say did they learn their lesson? Well, it's hard
[23:02] Speaker 1: to know because they weren't in that position again. They'll
[23:04] Speaker 1: learn their lesson going forward. This final series would be
[23:08] Speaker 1: fantastic for some of those young blokes, as like, it
[23:10] Speaker 1: hurts like hell now, but as far as experience and
[23:13] Speaker 1: knowing what to do next, it's going to be invaluable.
[23:16] Speaker 1: A couple of things for aside that was had such
[23:19] Speaker 1: an incredible regular season, they lost their last three games.
[23:23] Speaker 1: I wonder sometimes with Ricky, I wonder if I wonder
[23:26] Speaker 1: if he regrets resting all those blokes that last game
[23:29] Speaker 1: against Dolphins, because you know, because okay, they had they
[23:35] Speaker 1: had had all the young guys in with Corey Halls
[23:39] Speaker 1: were one or two other guys, but it was all
[23:41] Speaker 1: the young guys. They rested all their stars, and you go, okay,
[23:43] Speaker 1: you know, you take their willing to take a loss.
[23:46] Speaker 1: But at the time, I was watching Ricky on the sideline,
[23:50] Speaker 1: you know, when we went past fifty points on the
[23:52] Speaker 1: school board, I'm thinking, I know all these stars aren't
[23:55] Speaker 1: out there, but is this just causing a little bit
[23:58] Speaker 1: of damage, you know what I mean to.
[24:00] Speaker 2: Psyche to the momentum at the moment.
[24:03] Speaker 1: Then they went in the week after and they get
[24:04] Speaker 1: beat by the Broncos, and it's a really funny thing. Coops.
[24:09] Speaker 1: You know, there's so many things as far as timing,
[24:11] Speaker 1: concern timing, as far as injuries, playing your best football,
[24:16] Speaker 1: but also mate, you know yourself, sometimes you get to
[24:18] Speaker 1: the end of a year and you can be playing
[24:20] Speaker 1: great for whatever reason, just for two gets in everyone's bones.
[24:24] Speaker 1: Did you get that?
[24:26] Speaker 2: I agree?
[24:26] Speaker 1: I agree.
[24:28] Speaker 2: We were in a like this is comparing to Queensland
[24:31] Speaker 2: Cup level here, so you know's bear with me, but
[24:34] Speaker 2: we were in the same position a queens and Cut
[24:36] Speaker 2: where we won the minor premiership. At the Falcons, we
[24:38] Speaker 2: had red outside, but we went sort of we lost
[24:43] Speaker 2: our last game leading into finals, and then we lost
[24:46] Speaker 2: week one of finals. Jade managed to get our way
[24:49] Speaker 2: to prelim and then got beat again. Like we we
[24:52] Speaker 2: lost one game all year and then the last and
[24:56] Speaker 2: then two games in finals. Right yeah, yeah, so that was,
[24:59] Speaker 2: you know, a little bit different to Raiders. But I
[25:02] Speaker 2: found that and chatting to a few of the boys
[25:04] Speaker 2: in that side upon reviewing it, it was, like you said,
[25:08] Speaker 2: timing and peaking at the right time. I think we
[25:10] Speaker 2: peaked sort of when other teams were a bit down.
[25:15] Speaker 2: And when you're at the when you're at the top
[25:19] Speaker 2: during the year, it's very hard to get better. It's
[25:22] Speaker 2: very hard to review yourself and get better. I think
[25:24] Speaker 2: this is where the Raid and I was. I sort
[25:27] Speaker 2: of said it leading the finals for the Raiders, I
[25:29] Speaker 2: didn't know if they had another year in finals, right
[25:32] Speaker 2: because all the other teams who finished below them, they're
[25:35] Speaker 2: reviewing them, they're taking aspects of their game and they're
[25:38] Speaker 2: making sure that they get better and they're peaking into finals.
[25:42] Speaker 2: But I didn't think, you know, like when you peak
[25:45] Speaker 2: during the year, how you know and get better, if
[25:49] Speaker 2: that makes.
[25:49] Speaker 1: Sense, It's very hard to sustainable year. We were a
[25:52] Speaker 1: similar thing in ninety eight. In ninety eight we were
[25:54] Speaker 1: joint Minor Premiers with the Broncos. But I started recognizing
[25:57] Speaker 1: that the back end of that regular season, I think
[26:00] Speaker 1: picking up injuries. You know, it wasn't the same zest training.
[26:04] Speaker 1: Everyone's getting a bit tied and we get zest, you know,
[26:08] Speaker 1: zest for laugh, zes for training. And we went in
[26:12] Speaker 1: the first week at the finals. We had the first
[26:13] Speaker 1: week off, sorry because US and the Broncos played the
[26:17] Speaker 1: second week against the Roosters. We've bitten him sixteen all
[26:19] Speaker 1: at half time and they burat us at home first
[26:23] Speaker 1: week the final. So we're to play the Dogs the
[26:25] Speaker 1: next week the Sydney Football Stadium. Guess what happens. We're
[26:27] Speaker 1: leading the Dogs eighteen points at halftime. Guess what. They
[26:30] Speaker 1: run us down and boat us extra time. It was
[26:33] Speaker 1: like we just whether it be mental or physical, we
[26:37] Speaker 1: just hit the wall. We just hit the wall at
[26:38] Speaker 1: the wrong time. I think Ricky, I think Ricky in
[26:41] Speaker 1: time will look back at this season with so much
[26:44] Speaker 1: with a lot of joy, and you know, for him
[26:46] Speaker 1: it was it was a great season. I think it's
[26:48] Speaker 1: his best ever coaching season. And I think he looks
[26:51] Speaker 1: back at that when he looks back at the run
[26:53] Speaker 1: that the players had, the way that young guys have
[26:55] Speaker 1: come on, the re emergence of the Green Machine, the
[26:58] Speaker 1: home crowd, the way the community behind them, and the
[27:01] Speaker 1: other thing seeing your son come into the team and
[27:05] Speaker 1: excel like like okay, sometimes there's more to it than
[27:09] Speaker 1: just trophies. And I think as much as if you're
[27:12] Speaker 1: hurting right now, I think in time, you'll look back
[27:14] Speaker 1: at this season be really proud.
[27:15] Speaker 2: Do you think he gets daim Coach of the Year.
[27:16] Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah I.
[27:17] Speaker 1: Do, I do. I do. Let's tell what we're going
[27:20] Speaker 1: to do now, coops, we are I'm about to go
[27:22] Speaker 1: into work right of course, it's about to be the
[27:26] Speaker 1: Panthers up against the dogs. I believe it full time.
[27:28] Speaker 1: You guys are going to give me a call.
[27:30] Speaker 2: Yes, because you know we usually last week you come
[27:34] Speaker 2: home after and we film after the show. But you're
[27:35] Speaker 2: going out for dinner with Fletch and whatnot.
[27:37] Speaker 1: We fletching the boys. Yeah, so I'll trist said to
[27:40] Speaker 1: me what time to expect me? Will you be late?
[27:43] Speaker 1: So I said, defined late and she said late is anything?
[27:49] Speaker 1: Say around past midnight, about one o'clock And I said,
[27:53] Speaker 1: I'll be lateish.
[27:54] Speaker 2: See if you can do one not me?
[27:56] Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think seven am. No, No, those days
[27:59] Speaker 1: are long, long behind me. All that ha. A bit
[28:01] Speaker 1: a month ago, I got home as you were going
[28:02] Speaker 1: to work so full thirty. Who knows. Let's do it again, brother, Let's.
[28:05] Speaker 2: Run it back. I'll speak to you soon, boys, and
[28:09] Speaker 2: welcome back to the same episode. We're back once again
[28:13] Speaker 2: this morning. We obviously got up early to review the
[28:17] Speaker 2: Canberra versus Who do Cambra play? Yesterday?
[28:19] Speaker 3: Jack Sharky?
[28:20] Speaker 2: They played the Sharkies. We got up early to review that.
[28:23] Speaker 2: To the listeners who are still listening to this episode,
[28:27] Speaker 2: I want to apologize. I had and a lot of
[28:31] Speaker 2: people resonate with this. I was very hungover and I
[28:34] Speaker 2: could not articulate a sentence together, let alone. I knew
[28:38] Speaker 2: what I wanted to say, Jack, but it just couldn't
[28:41] Speaker 2: go from my brain to my mouth. Do you think
[28:42] Speaker 2: that's fair?
[28:43] Speaker 3: Yeah, I just had to look at it before. You
[28:44] Speaker 3: don't look well, it looks like you just got up
[28:47] Speaker 3: out of bed.
[28:47] Speaker 2: To be fair, I had, I'd had a couple of
[28:49] Speaker 2: hours sleep and then obviously we had to do it
[28:51] Speaker 2: before Dad headed into studio to watch the game in there.
[28:55] Speaker 2: I have rested since, so you should see a more
[28:59] Speaker 2: well hydrated, more articulate version of me. But Jack and
[29:02] Speaker 2: I have sat down. We just watched the Penrith Verse
[29:04] Speaker 2: Bulldogs game. Just first, Jack off the top two mad
[29:08] Speaker 2: fan bases. How good was the atmosphere out there? And
[29:11] Speaker 2: did you see the videos of the Bulldogs walking from
[29:14] Speaker 2: their hotel to the stadium as well?
[29:16] Speaker 3: Yeah, it was unreal. Just to let people know too,
[29:19] Speaker 3: we've got Matthew ringing in soon in any minute. But yeah,
[29:23] Speaker 3: it looked incredible the crowd, especially when Galvin scored that
[29:26] Speaker 3: try just sort of bring him closer to the Penrith
[29:28] Speaker 3: Panthers after they got away with a good start. Geez,
[29:32] Speaker 3: it looked like the crowd was going off out there.
[29:34] Speaker 2: Yeah, those Doggies fans are there. I mean, obviously they
[29:38] Speaker 2: hung in there right until the end of the fans
[29:40] Speaker 2: because imagine would have been pretty hard. They would have
[29:42] Speaker 2: wanted to leave quite early, but they were so vocal
[29:46] Speaker 2: the whole time, and it actually makes you want to
[29:48] Speaker 2: play for the Dogs in that sense. I reckon. Yeah,
[29:52] Speaker 2: they've got such a sick fan base.
[29:53] Speaker 3: They do, and they look like they're a fan base
[29:56] Speaker 3: much like the Newcastle supporters. They look like they really
[29:59] Speaker 3: enjoy watching them team, you know, do effort things, not
[30:02] Speaker 3: just do like the you know, spontaneous, great attacking stuff.
[30:05] Speaker 3: They love watching their team, you know, Bash do the
[30:09] Speaker 3: nitty gritty stuff. You know, players like Salmon men, Salmon, Salmon, Salmon,
[30:14] Speaker 3: the gutter dog. He's become slowly my favorite player, some
[30:18] Speaker 3: of that sort of stuff. Like you can see their
[30:19] Speaker 3: fans really they enjoy watching it. They like that style
[30:23] Speaker 3: of football, which is actually really good to see the
[30:25] Speaker 3: energy resonate off the fans.
[30:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, and and just quietly as well. Obviously Penrith are
[30:30] Speaker 2: too good today. They were unbelievable, probably one of the
[30:33] Speaker 2: one of their I think it was their best performance
[30:35] Speaker 2: of the whole year so far. They're peaking right at
[30:37] Speaker 2: the right time. But we do have a new addition
[30:40] Speaker 2: to the studio here. We've got a picture that Jack
[30:42] Speaker 2: has found. It is the Canniby Bulldogs twenty four team.
[30:46] Speaker 3: I believe Jack, Yeah, you would have seen it in
[30:47] Speaker 3: the first part, it would have been in the back corner. Actually,
[30:50] Speaker 3: I'll blow it up for yours so you can see
[30:52] Speaker 3: it in the YouTube. But it's a photo photo is it?
[30:55] Speaker 3: Two thousand and four?
[30:56] Speaker 2: I believe photo.
[30:57] Speaker 3: You're all the old boys in there, and then in
[30:59] Speaker 3: the left corner you've got Reggie Boy and there should
[31:01] Speaker 3: be a little like if you if you see it,
[31:03] Speaker 3: I'll blow it up for you. It should say middle
[31:06] Speaker 3: row on the left, Red Reagan in brackets Motivational Health
[31:10] Speaker 3: and Fitness coordinator. So that was Actually that's a fair
[31:13] Speaker 3: bit of a laugh for the dogs back in the
[31:15] Speaker 3: day because I thought teams took things a bit more
[31:17] Speaker 3: serious when it comes to those big games.
[31:18] Speaker 2: I don't reckon they did because I remember Dad, don't
[31:22] Speaker 2: Dad had so much access as Red Reagan to a
[31:25] Speaker 2: lot of teams in a sanctum. I feel like we
[31:27] Speaker 2: just said it around.
[31:28] Speaker 3: You would just say that reg had more access than Matthew.
[31:31] Speaker 1: Yeah.
[31:31] Speaker 2: But I think because they knew they weren't going to
[31:35] Speaker 2: like how do I put this, They weren't going.
[31:37] Speaker 3: To get grilled.
[31:38] Speaker 2: They weren't going to get grilled Like you see people,
[31:40] Speaker 2: they're very protective of the inner sanctum now, like you
[31:43] Speaker 2: don't really see too much of you know, like your
[31:46] Speaker 2: Red Wagan's whether he was one of a kind, there's
[31:48] Speaker 2: not many of him getting around. But you don't really
[31:50] Speaker 2: see those kind of people getting in and around finals
[31:54] Speaker 2: time in the clubs and doing stuff with players and
[31:56] Speaker 2: coaches and shit like they were back then.
[31:58] Speaker 3: Yeah, teams get very sick now too. I even remember
[32:01] Speaker 3: the year after I think we were kids when Dad
[32:03] Speaker 3: was doing stuff with the Tigers. Remember we went to
[32:05] Speaker 3: the captain's run for the Grand Final against the Cowboys
[32:07] Speaker 3: and they got all paranoid when a was it a
[32:10] Speaker 3: helicopter or a plane went over the stadium when they
[32:12] Speaker 3: were doing their captains run and they were freaking out.
[32:15] Speaker 2: Yeah they did. We're about to get into the Panrith
[32:18] Speaker 2: first Bulldogs game are But are the stat that I
[32:21] Speaker 2: heard the other day Nathan Cleary has not lost a
[32:24] Speaker 2: day game since twenty nineteen.
[32:26] Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know how many that would be. I
[32:28] Speaker 3: know they've played. They've just won eight in a row
[32:31] Speaker 3: so this year, so there's eight, so you only get
[32:34] Speaker 3: so many. They might have gone on. They might have
[32:36] Speaker 3: gone on a pretty low run and they're a pretty
[32:38] Speaker 3: good attacking team they like today. How good was their
[32:41] Speaker 3: completion rate early? Like they were relentless, Like they didn't
[32:44] Speaker 3: give They just looked like they absolutely suffocated the Dogs,
[32:48] Speaker 3: even though the Dogs got the first points on the
[32:50] Speaker 3: board in that first twenty minutes, it was Yeah, it
[32:52] Speaker 3: was pretty relentless.
[32:53] Speaker 2: Yeah, like that first ten minutes. I didn't think the
[32:57] Speaker 2: Dogs did too much wrong. I thought they were unbelievably
[33:00] Speaker 2: physically they were all over I thought they were actually
[33:03] Speaker 2: really all over Penrith at the start. Do you feel
[33:05] Speaker 2: that as well, particularly like that first set, And we
[33:09] Speaker 2: said this last week they did the same thing against Melbourne.
[33:11] Speaker 2: They come out of the blocks firing, firing, and then
[33:13] Speaker 2: Melbourne kind of absorbed that pressure and counterpunched with after
[33:17] Speaker 2: fifteen minutes when they really took the sting out of Bulldogs.
[33:20] Speaker 2: But the Bulldogs what I love what they did this
[33:23] Speaker 2: week was that first Kickchase. They had a huge Kickchase
[33:27] Speaker 2: did a number on the back three of Penrith. Nathan
[33:29] Speaker 2: goes to kick and then Villie Arma kickow flies out
[33:32] Speaker 2: of the line, kick pressures knocks it down. They get
[33:34] Speaker 2: a penalty to take the two because Dylan Edwards holds him,
[33:38] Speaker 2: but that's how you need to take on Penrith. We've
[33:40] Speaker 2: said this before. It's like they want if you try
[33:44] Speaker 2: to replicate how they try to play and do you know,
[33:48] Speaker 2: like just try to kick pressure, just do do the
[33:50] Speaker 2: same cycles that they do and just try to build
[33:53] Speaker 2: pressure and beat them in the back end of the game.
[33:54] Speaker 2: You're not going to beat them because they're too good
[33:55] Speaker 2: at it. Yeah, that's where you get the upper hand
[33:58] Speaker 2: like that, like little trick play like William kick coming
[34:02] Speaker 2: out and trying to do a charge down.
[34:04] Speaker 3: Yeah, incredited kick out too. You could tell from the
[34:07] Speaker 3: get go, even from running out as as captain of
[34:09] Speaker 3: the game, you could see he was up for it.
[34:11] Speaker 3: And even like last ten minutes, last five minutes of
[34:14] Speaker 3: the game when he tackled Liam Martin, he was tackling
[34:16] Speaker 3: that aggressively. You could see that he definitely wasn't going
[34:19] Speaker 3: to die die guessing like he was doing his best
[34:23] Speaker 3: there to try and change the momentum for the for
[34:26] Speaker 3: the Doggies pack.
[34:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know what, let's quickly just talk about
[34:30] Speaker 2: what we thought the Dogs did wrong, because like we said,
[34:32] Speaker 2: that start was really good physically, Yeah, what I think
[34:35] Speaker 2: they didn't do enough of and they started to do
[34:37] Speaker 2: it towards the back into the game, but it was
[34:39] Speaker 2: too late. I love when they shift out of their
[34:42] Speaker 2: own end a little bit because that first set they
[34:45] Speaker 2: went boom shift and I found Berdo on the left
[34:48] Speaker 2: hand side who made sort of a half dint. They
[34:50] Speaker 2: looked really fast, played really quick. When fatigue started to
[34:53] Speaker 2: get in, they just like, and I get it happens
[34:56] Speaker 2: because you don't have as many numbers coming back on
[34:58] Speaker 2: the kick chase. But they just went into their shell
[35:00] Speaker 2: and just sort of went Carras up, Brons and Cherry
[35:03] Speaker 2: up just to send people one up, which is still
[35:05] Speaker 2: a good play. They got good ball runners. But when
[35:07] Speaker 2: they started to shift out of that midfield, and you
[35:10] Speaker 2: saw it when Galvin scored, he went down the short side,
[35:13] Speaker 2: little no look short past Jacob Preston, he goes through
[35:16] Speaker 2: Fines Galvin back on the inside. They weren't playing any
[35:20] Speaker 2: footy out of their own end. They were almost just
[35:22] Speaker 2: trying to get one up, one up, one up. And
[35:24] Speaker 2: when you try to do that against Penrith, Penrith are
[35:27] Speaker 2: they're probably they're probably the smartest football side in identifying
[35:32] Speaker 2: what you're doing, so they can pressed right up a
[35:35] Speaker 2: lot of the time. They put about four people into
[35:38] Speaker 2: a lot of the tackles and just drive you back.
[35:40] Speaker 3: What even I'd even say, like what you were saying earlier,
[35:42] Speaker 3: where where with the Doggies they should have expanded a
[35:45] Speaker 3: bit more. Was Penrith were that relentless like you were
[35:47] Speaker 3: saying identifying I look at that and I thought to myself,
[35:50] Speaker 3: more disciplined, Like they were so disciplined with what they
[35:53] Speaker 3: probably game planned against the Dogs, Like I was watching
[35:57] Speaker 3: out of their end when they were defending after a
[36:01] Speaker 3: kick chase. They were that compressed, like they'd obviously game
[36:04] Speaker 3: planned what the Doggies do. And they've got good outside
[36:06] Speaker 3: backs and not huge blokes, but they run hard, straight
[36:10] Speaker 3: inside a that they just tightened right up. And I
[36:13] Speaker 3: don't think Penrith even let a yardage penalty out until
[36:17] Speaker 3: like the late thirtieth minute, So they spent that first
[36:19] Speaker 3: thirty not making a single error in their defense pretty
[36:23] Speaker 3: much in those tough areas that it just suffocated the Doggies.
[36:26] Speaker 3: I do agree that they probably needed to maybe on
[36:28] Speaker 3: that third tackle shifted a bit more. But then in
[36:31] Speaker 3: the the late of that half, after that penalty, I
[36:33] Speaker 3: remember Kurt Man got it and they were. It might've
[36:36] Speaker 3: been early in the second half Kurt Man got it
[36:38] Speaker 3: and they actually tried to do that, and then whoever
[36:41] Speaker 3: the Taalangy Tallangy's defense was relentless all the game. He
[36:45] Speaker 3: kept jamming in like he got Galvin early, then he
[36:47] Speaker 3: got Burdo. Yeah, yeah, he got Burdo. He just made
[36:51] Speaker 3: like two and forced two errors, forced a pass that
[36:54] Speaker 3: shouldn't have been a pass, and then forced an er
[36:57] Speaker 3: off Burdo. I think it just rattled them earlier in
[36:59] Speaker 3: those early stages.
[37:00] Speaker 2: I agree, and like I'm nitpicking there what the Dogs
[37:04] Speaker 2: could have done or could have kept doing as they
[37:06] Speaker 2: started to try to keep putting more pressure on Penrith.
[37:09] Speaker 2: But I think Penrith beat everyone in the top eight
[37:13] Speaker 2: with how they played today. I thought they were unbelievable,
[37:16] Speaker 2: Like you said, with their defense, they were so aggressive.
[37:20] Speaker 2: I didn't think the Dogs their edges. I didn't think
[37:22] Speaker 2: they were aggressive enough on Penrith. They gave them a
[37:24] Speaker 2: lot of time and you saw a lot of their
[37:26] Speaker 2: tries come off sort of late jams, and then they
[37:29] Speaker 2: got quick hands to Alamodi and Bryan to but t'lungy
[37:32] Speaker 2: really set the standard. I love what he did over
[37:36] Speaker 2: Galvin and Berdo and when they identified the shape, he
[37:39] Speaker 2: gets up gets aggressive force. Two big errors. But I
[37:42] Speaker 2: want to talk to about the penrith first try. I
[37:44] Speaker 2: believe it was and I thought it was. If you
[37:49] Speaker 2: go back to this first try, the first shape that
[37:51] Speaker 2: they run to the right hand side, Nathan goes to
[37:53] Speaker 2: the line, plays out the back they have and they
[37:56] Speaker 2: did it all day. We just said they're set up
[37:59] Speaker 2: on shape was second to none. I don't think I've
[38:02] Speaker 2: watched attacking shades being run with such perfection and precision. Yeah, ever,
[38:09] Speaker 2: as like that, that is an example that every team
[38:11] Speaker 2: and every coach should take.
[38:12] Speaker 3: You could even see like Shane Elford, their their blue
[38:15] Speaker 3: shirt that was out there they go. He got trouble,
[38:17] Speaker 3: got in trouble earlier in the year. Every time the
[38:20] Speaker 3: ball got to the center, he had his hand up
[38:22] Speaker 3: and was just cheering as if they'd already scored the try.
[38:24] Speaker 3: It's like he's watched it all week at training. I
[38:27] Speaker 3: bet he's just watched them consistently do it day in
[38:30] Speaker 3: day out that he knew by the time he got
[38:31] Speaker 3: to that stage where the winger was open and all
[38:34] Speaker 3: they needed to do was pin their ears back.
[38:35] Speaker 2: He knew it was going to be a try and
[38:37] Speaker 2: it's such simple fundamentals, but they do it so well,
[38:40] Speaker 2: and under fatigue and under pressure when you have people
[38:44] Speaker 2: flying out like they just so calm. Casey McLean had
[38:47] Speaker 2: a couple of really nice quick hands to Brian to
[38:50] Speaker 2: and even when he's he didn't really get a clean catch,
[38:53] Speaker 2: but still gets to pass away.
[38:54] Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the one that he got. He got
[38:56] Speaker 3: some he got some balls behind his right shoulder and
[39:00] Speaker 3: around that quick and somehow got the ball to toe
[39:02] Speaker 3: just to just to let him just do his job
[39:04] Speaker 3: and then pin the years back and you're what I
[39:06] Speaker 3: was like, when you give him an inn, she takes
[39:07] Speaker 3: a mile like he's a great finisher like Alamodi.
[39:10] Speaker 2: Catching and passing. It's like it it's such an easy
[39:13] Speaker 2: thing to say, but unless you unless you've like played
[39:18] Speaker 2: a lot of football and trained day to day, you
[39:22] Speaker 2: don't understand how much of a difference. And even people
[39:24] Speaker 2: at the highest level they can't do it that well.
[39:27] Speaker 2: Like you actually don't realize how many people don't. Aren't
[39:30] Speaker 2: aren't you know, detailed, unfatigued with their passing and then
[39:33] Speaker 2: getting a clean catch. Pendrith do it so well, they're
[39:36] Speaker 2: a couple of their shapes too, were just so nice,
[39:38] Speaker 2: like clearly finding yo in the middle. They had a
[39:40] Speaker 2: lot of real short precision passing, just putting putting people
[39:44] Speaker 2: one on one, Like I thought it was so nice,
[39:46] Speaker 2: and then yeah, I was.
[39:47] Speaker 3: Going to say on that, like on those detail things
[39:50] Speaker 3: for the average partter like they might think. You know,
[39:52] Speaker 3: as an NL player, their job is to you know,
[39:55] Speaker 3: their job is to be great at attacking. A lot
[39:58] Speaker 3: of the reasons a lot of these guys as good
[40:00] Speaker 3: at those little details when they get to NROL levels
[40:03] Speaker 3: because they were so good at it growing up. A
[40:05] Speaker 3: lot of their work in the week to week goes
[40:07] Speaker 3: to the other side of their game, which is the defense.
[40:09] Speaker 3: Some players are taught week in week out that they're
[40:12] Speaker 3: not going to play unless they do their defense. And
[40:14] Speaker 3: sometimes what they can do is they can make their
[40:15] Speaker 3: attack quite scrappy and then you see it. I remember
[40:19] Speaker 3: a couple of years back in twenty twenty one when
[40:20] Speaker 3: we were living with the Panthers and during their period
[40:25] Speaker 3: of their finals campaign up there at Twin Waters during
[40:28] Speaker 3: the COVID year, people were watching the all the coaches
[40:30] Speaker 3: from all the other clubs were like spying on their
[40:32] Speaker 3: training sessions, trying to get a gauge of what they
[40:35] Speaker 3: were doing because they were just so dominant that year.
[40:37] Speaker 3: They reckon. They weren't doing anything like other than the
[40:40] Speaker 3: usual doing what you do in pre season, which is
[40:42] Speaker 3: just doing the basics skills skills skills, getting them that
[40:45] Speaker 3: crisp and then like Shane Elford was doing, he knew
[40:48] Speaker 3: as soon as that ball went out to the center.
[40:49] Speaker 3: It's like he knew every time it was going to
[40:52] Speaker 3: be a try.
[40:52] Speaker 2: Yeah, but you did. Like so many clubs in the
[40:54] Speaker 2: NROL don't actually practice the fundamentals because they've got so
[40:57] Speaker 2: much other shit to worry about, Like they might be
[41:00] Speaker 2: worrying about their defense or you know, like the bottom
[41:02] Speaker 2: eight clubs, right, they've got so much stuff to worry about.
[41:06] Speaker 2: You know, they might get a new coach so that
[41:08] Speaker 2: he comes in with a whole new game plan, trying
[41:10] Speaker 2: to teach people moves and a new strategy with their
[41:13] Speaker 2: attack and defense. Then that's what they drill in the preseason.
[41:16] Speaker 2: The beauty of clubs like Penrith, clubs like probably the
[41:20] Speaker 2: Roosters because they've had a consistent coach and Melbourne is
[41:23] Speaker 2: they've got a system that they've had for a decade.
[41:26] Speaker 2: They don't need to change too much. So Penrith, when
[41:28] Speaker 2: those boys come back for preseason, all Ivan and that
[41:31] Speaker 2: have to worry about is getting them fit and then
[41:34] Speaker 2: getting the fundamentals of the game. Their skill. You know,
[41:38] Speaker 2: they're one on one tackling, just very simple things. He
[41:42] Speaker 2: just trains that into them all preseasons so that like
[41:45] Speaker 2: their detail on those little things are so perfect.
[41:48] Speaker 3: Even like a shift, Like they're so consistent every time
[41:50] Speaker 3: they get to a final series, little things like their
[41:52] Speaker 3: discipline in those yardish defensive sets where they're all compressed.
[41:56] Speaker 3: Sometimes some coaches go into those big games and they
[41:58] Speaker 3: think they need to spend half a session drilling it
[42:00] Speaker 3: into players, and what that does is it actually takes
[42:03] Speaker 3: away from the details of their skill, their core skills
[42:06] Speaker 3: and those major things. It's almost like trying to fix
[42:09] Speaker 3: a hole in the boat, but at the same time
[42:11] Speaker 3: another hole is popping up, you know what I mean, Like, yeah,
[42:14] Speaker 3: you're hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging, hemorrhaging.
[42:17] Speaker 2: I felt that Like when I was at Manly, I
[42:21] Speaker 2: used to say the same thing. It was like, oh,
[42:23] Speaker 2: there's so many problems, like whether they off field or
[42:26] Speaker 2: on field. It was like, you've got one band aid?
[42:30] Speaker 2: What do you what do you fucking put it on?
[42:32] Speaker 2: You know what I mean, you're just bleeding out like
[42:35] Speaker 2: you may as well just you know, just abandoned ship.
[42:38] Speaker 3: Well, you you've got two centers on the field. One
[42:40] Speaker 3: center might be having really a problem all week with
[42:42] Speaker 3: this like catch pass, and the other center might be
[42:45] Speaker 3: having a problem with their edge defense. So you know,
[42:48] Speaker 3: you could either train them separately, but a lot of
[42:50] Speaker 3: the time they're going to train opposite each other all
[42:52] Speaker 3: all week long. So what do you focus on one
[42:54] Speaker 3: you're training in one session, you're telling him to focus
[42:56] Speaker 3: on one part of the game. The other one sitting
[42:58] Speaker 3: there listening overhearing it, probably thinking about that rather than
[43:01] Speaker 3: he's supposed to be worrying about his own deficiencies.
[43:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought Nathan Cleary was unbelievable today, kicked a
[43:07] Speaker 2: nice forty twenty. But it's just his organization what he
[43:11] Speaker 2: was doing off the ball. You could see he was
[43:13] Speaker 2: just so on today, how straight detail and all the shape.
[43:17] Speaker 2: And we were talking while the game was playing. When
[43:19] Speaker 2: they scored that first try, bryn To own that left corner,
[43:23] Speaker 2: nice shift to the right. It gets fifth tackle, and
[43:25] Speaker 2: we've seen Nathan do this trend to a fair bit
[43:27] Speaker 2: lately Jack where on the fifth tackle he'll sort of
[43:31] Speaker 2: shape to kick and then just throw it like a
[43:34] Speaker 2: sort of a three man cut out ball to one
[43:36] Speaker 2: of his rock forwards. We saw I think last week
[43:40] Speaker 2: he threw it and the rock forward actually just went
[43:42] Speaker 2: straight over and scored. This time, he sort of missed it,
[43:46] Speaker 2: sort of hit the ground. Lindsay Smith picked it up,
[43:48] Speaker 2: found Casey McClain, Casey McLain, finds Brian Totto. But he's
[43:52] Speaker 2: obviously seen a trend in the NRL where if on
[43:55] Speaker 2: fifth tackle, obviously that the edges might not really get
[43:59] Speaker 2: up because they're folding for the kick. They're preparing for
[44:02] Speaker 2: a kick. So he's I love what he's been doing
[44:04] Speaker 2: with it lately, messing with defense because you see it's
[44:08] Speaker 2: it was such an easy try for him.
[44:10] Speaker 3: Well a lot of the time to like you think
[44:13] Speaker 3: when you're doing a setup like that, he's like a
[44:15] Speaker 3: lot of the defenders I think they were thinking, either
[44:18] Speaker 3: he's gonna knock it back behind him with all those
[44:21] Speaker 3: lead runners in front of him, all he's going to
[44:22] Speaker 3: try and do a cross kick. I don't even think
[44:24] Speaker 3: when he grabbed got in his hands, not once did
[44:26] Speaker 3: he even look like kicking like he it was almost
[44:28] Speaker 3: like he preempted that he's going to be passing the
[44:30] Speaker 3: ball regardless of you know, what the defense does. It
[44:34] Speaker 3: was Yeah, Yeah, it was pretty It's working for him
[44:37] Speaker 3: at the moment because it's led to two tries two
[44:38] Speaker 3: weeks in a row.
[44:39] Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought it was a masterclass. Do you have
[44:41] Speaker 2: a back fence player of the game.
[44:43] Speaker 3: My back fence player probably The battle between kick Out
[44:47] Speaker 3: and Liam Martin was pretty savage all game. I think
[44:50] Speaker 3: Liam Martin got the better of him, but he did
[44:52] Speaker 3: a few little things. Liam Martin some of his kickchase efforts,
[44:55] Speaker 3: like relentless every time that ball goes up, they were kicking.
[44:58] Speaker 3: Nathan was kicking that right corner all game. He never
[45:01] Speaker 3: gave Connor Tracy or who was the left edge the
[45:04] Speaker 3: jeath throw Jethrow. He never gave him an inch like
[45:07] Speaker 3: he was that solid all day with his kick chase.
[45:09] Speaker 3: It was just suffocated him.
[45:11] Speaker 2: Yeah, I had I was going to go Nathan Cleary,
[45:13] Speaker 2: but I'm going the I'm going the two and five
[45:16] Speaker 2: for penrith Ala Moddi and Brian to Yeah, I think
[45:18] Speaker 2: they both ran over two hundred meters, but yeah, both
[45:22] Speaker 2: unbelievable there. I didn't see them jack yet put on
[45:25] Speaker 2: their back once out of the backfield. The work that
[45:27] Speaker 2: they do for their forwards and for Nathan get starting
[45:31] Speaker 2: the sets off, well, it must be a pleasure to
[45:34] Speaker 2: play behind those two.
[45:36] Speaker 3: I had a mate message with me through the game.
[45:37] Speaker 3: Go jeez, I didn't realize, you know, when he took
[45:39] Speaker 3: that intercept, Brian toh, yeah, he goes, I didn't realize
[45:41] Speaker 3: how slow it was. Yeah, because he's done that much work.
[45:44] Speaker 3: He just that's him ticking over two hundred meters with
[45:46] Speaker 3: like thirty minutes left to go on the game, Like
[45:48] Speaker 3: he does that much off the ball. But again he's
[45:51] Speaker 3: like he's bread and butter is what he does out
[45:53] Speaker 3: of yardage. He never gets put on his back, No, never,
[45:55] Speaker 3: Like he's one of the hardest blokes. He's low to
[45:57] Speaker 3: the ground and he's just one of the hardest blokes
[45:59] Speaker 3: to get on his back. I think Alamotti got him
[46:01] Speaker 3: by about thirty or forty meters in the end.
[46:03] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't only got a hat trick as well. Yeah,
[46:05] Speaker 2: and you know I was I was critical. I'm not
[46:09] Speaker 2: critical but I questioned the decision to drop Tom Jenkins, yeah,
[46:12] Speaker 2: two weeks ago, because I thought he'd been one of
[46:14] Speaker 2: the most consistent players all year. And obviously I haven't
[46:17] Speaker 2: put Paul Alamolly in, who's played a lot of finals,
[46:20] Speaker 2: scored two tries some of the Grand Final last year. Honestly,
[46:23] Speaker 2: in the two weeks that he's been back in the
[46:25] Speaker 2: NRL side after being eighteenth man most of the back
[46:27] Speaker 2: end of the year, he's been unbelievable.
[46:29] Speaker 3: You'd love to know. You'd love to live in Ivan's
[46:31] Speaker 3: head and just go what on earth? Like is it
[46:34] Speaker 3: a personality thing or is it a type of player thing,
[46:37] Speaker 3: because there's must be something there that he knows Alamotti
[46:40] Speaker 3: shows up for big games because he's had some massive
[46:43] Speaker 3: moments for that club, especially in the last two years
[46:45] Speaker 3: in big games. That three tries today and then what
[46:48] Speaker 3: did he get two last week against the Wise? Yeah,
[46:50] Speaker 3: like he has to have something that Ivan goes. I
[46:52] Speaker 3: know he's a big game player, but I'd just love
[46:54] Speaker 3: to know if it's personality or skill set.
[46:58] Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I don't know
[47:01] Speaker 2: the answers.
[47:02] Speaker 3: He's a hell of a finisher, but like every time
[47:03] Speaker 3: he gets it, he backs himself.
[47:05] Speaker 2: Hell of a finisher and he's got a little bit
[47:07] Speaker 2: of swagger too. You said up there that he was
[47:10] Speaker 2: built like a Transformer.
[47:11] Speaker 3: Yeah, then the Transformers one, the one that's the Porsche
[47:14] Speaker 3: who gets up and he's like got like really high
[47:16] Speaker 3: on his toe. That's the one he reminds me of.
[47:18] Speaker 4: Yeah.
[47:18] Speaker 2: He's bloody built, bloody built, and you know what, I
[47:22] Speaker 2: haven't had much to do with him, but I reckon
[47:24] Speaker 2: he looks like a half decent bloke as well.
[47:26] Speaker 3: I love to view with him.
[47:27] Speaker 2: Yeah, I reckon.
[47:27] Speaker 4: Uh.
[47:28] Speaker 2: And we're going to ring Matthew as well, just to
[47:30] Speaker 2: get his thoughts on the game before we wrap up
[47:32] Speaker 2: the podcast groups. Maddie, Johnsy Hell are you brother, mate,
[47:37] Speaker 2: We're alive on the on the program. Thanks for joining us.
[47:40] Speaker 5: We live, no problem, mate. We're just thinking of the game.
[47:44] Speaker 2: Mate, Me and Jack. We've we've just talked about it
[47:46] Speaker 2: for about twenty minutes, mate, So that'd be interesting. That's
[47:52] Speaker 2: pretty low comment, mate, talk about because essentially essentially our
[47:56] Speaker 2: knowledge has just passed down from you. So that's a
[47:58] Speaker 2: reflection of yourself, right.
[48:01] Speaker 5: Blame the DNA, Yeah, they were they were just Yeah,
[48:05] Speaker 5: Pennos were just mate, it was just we're talking before, mate.
[48:09] Speaker 5: One side was playing football, the other one was playing science.
[48:13] Speaker 5: A big difference made like you, dogs were trying hard
[48:15] Speaker 5: the bust of their ass, but the other side is
[48:18] Speaker 5: just too good the precision and you know, probably emblematic
[48:23] Speaker 5: of it when you look at the Panthers first two
[48:25] Speaker 5: tries which were just made insane. You know, everyone doing
[48:30] Speaker 5: their right job, quick hands through the line, high pressure passing,
[48:34] Speaker 5: but made it look easy, too good.
[48:37] Speaker 2: Yeah, did you have a back fence player of the
[48:39] Speaker 2: of this match? Do you want to hear Jack?
[48:42] Speaker 1: Who was yours?
[48:42] Speaker 2: Again?
[48:43] Speaker 3: I had? I had Liam Martin in the end.
[48:46] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I had. I had the wingers Brian and
[48:50] Speaker 2: paul A Lamotti, the dynamic duo. Who do you are?
[48:53] Speaker 6: Ala?
[48:53] Speaker 5: Modi has been unbelievable, mate. Honestly, when he gets in
[48:58] Speaker 5: big games he goes good.
[48:59] Speaker 3: Now, revelation he was a revelation would you say?
[49:02] Speaker 5: Yeah? He revelations is great word? But mate, if you
[49:06] Speaker 5: look at him, made the dogs let him go, The
[49:09] Speaker 5: Dogs send him on his way and they're still playing
[49:12] Speaker 5: I think half his contract, so maybe three tries today? Yeah, player,
[49:18] Speaker 5: I'm going Moses Oh yeah, the King, Yeah he was.
[49:24] Speaker 5: He was fantastic McClain like Leam Martin. Mate, one bloke
[49:31] Speaker 5: who has got a keen curious eye is Nathan Hei Marsh.
[49:35] Speaker 5: I'm going to put Heindi on the line. People, here
[49:37] Speaker 5: is an exclusive to the John's podcast. Is Heindi? Heindi
[49:41] Speaker 5: telling what you think about the and extend on more
[49:44] Speaker 5: than did tonight Phil extend.
[49:46] Speaker 4: It explore the space.
[49:47] Speaker 5: Hello.
[49:47] Speaker 4: Who am I speaking with?
[49:49] Speaker 2: Hey Nathan, Hi Marsh, you're talking to Cooper and Jack Johns. Mate,
[49:52] Speaker 2: welcome to the podcast. You're live eleven.
[49:54] Speaker 5: This is eleven.
[49:57] Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, MATEO. I know you don't do many sort
[50:01] Speaker 2: of spots that aren't paid these days, so I'll try
[50:04] Speaker 2: to keep it quite brief for you, mate. What do
[50:06] Speaker 2: you think of the game?
[50:08] Speaker 4: I thought it was an outstanding game. I thought the
[50:10] Speaker 4: Pendant Panthers were clinical. His outo backs were great, towards
[50:15] Speaker 4: were awesome, bench were awesome, which Kenny sets up a try.
[50:18] Speaker 4: Also he was great And there was a little bit
[50:22] Speaker 4: of a little bit of an issue with Liam Martin
[50:25] Speaker 4: at the back end of the game where he looks
[50:27] Speaker 4: like he's gone down with an injury. He's gone up
[50:30] Speaker 4: into the sheds up the tunnel, he's killed over, he's
[50:33] Speaker 4: grimaced with pain, winced even according to Brian Fletcher. And
[50:39] Speaker 4: then he's come out and do an interview with Jakie
[50:41] Speaker 4: Duke after and pretty much just tried to tell the
[50:43] Speaker 4: public that he was just winded. But we think that's
[50:46] Speaker 4: a bit of horse play.
[50:47] Speaker 2: So you think, so you think he's a liar, Lee.
[50:50] Speaker 4: Martin, Well, I will say liar. Yes, I'll say liar.
[50:53] Speaker 4: I know that's a bit of aggressive for some, but
[50:55] Speaker 4: I'm going to say, yes, he's lying, he's not telling
[50:59] Speaker 4: people what we want to hear. I think he's actually
[51:00] Speaker 4: busted a rib and he's out there on a brave face.
[51:03] Speaker 2: He's done an interview, and you think, when you're labeling
[51:06] Speaker 2: a liar, is that is that just is that just
[51:08] Speaker 2: on field or is that like relationship like all others?
[51:13] Speaker 4: Has always been very good for us on Fox League
[51:17] Speaker 4: Brian Flechandi on The Madey John Show. So yeah, I've
[51:19] Speaker 4: got no issues with Lear Martin whatsoever regards to him
[51:22] Speaker 4: as a person. Just the fact that he he's pretending
[51:26] Speaker 4: that he's not injured when he is, so therefore he's alive.
[51:28] Speaker 2: Now, what's on the agenda for you guys tonight. You
[51:30] Speaker 2: guys going to dinner, is that right?
[51:32] Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just a sophisticated dinner, just the Maddie John's crew,
[51:35] Speaker 4: Maddy John's crew. So we'll be having a little bit
[51:38] Speaker 4: of wine, a couple of pastors, maybe a sitzel, and
[51:45] Speaker 4: then we'll be all tacked up in bed. That reason,
[51:47] Speaker 4: we'll time to watch the Formula one hopefully. Yeah, I'm
[51:50] Speaker 4: looking forward to you.
[51:51] Speaker 2: Are your Formula one man?
[51:52] Speaker 4: I am that's your Formula one man?
[51:55] Speaker 1: Yes?
[51:55] Speaker 2: Right, and this and you're not just using our platform
[51:58] Speaker 2: to plug like something that you being paid to plug?
[52:01] Speaker 4: Right, No, it's the key it has been was in
[52:03] Speaker 4: the Formula one. Well maybe but unfortunately it's not a
[52:08] Speaker 4: great you but on the F one track maybe not
[52:11] Speaker 4: so there it is.
[52:12] Speaker 2: Well, thanks Handy. It's been a pleasure to have have
[52:15] Speaker 2: you come on the program.
[52:16] Speaker 4: Mate, it's been a pleasure being on.
[52:17] Speaker 1: Guys.
[52:18] Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
[52:19] Speaker 2: Yes, do you hear jack Man?

[52:21] Speaker 4: Guys. Wrian's driving they're putty on pretty on speaker.
[52:27] Speaker 2: Brian's driving there, Brian contending the drive.
[52:30] Speaker 6: Hey fletch, great, Hey guys.
[52:35] Speaker 2: How are you fletched? Welcome to the program.
[52:37] Speaker 6: Mate, thank you very much.
[52:39] Speaker 2: Are we live, but we're not live like it is
[52:42] Speaker 2: a podcast, so we can edit anything you want to
[52:44] Speaker 2: say out if you want to bag anyone or what's
[52:46] Speaker 2: the deal? All right, what's the deal?
[52:48] Speaker 3: Mate?
[52:48] Speaker 2: We just wanted to see what's on the agenda tonight.
[52:51] Speaker 2: Handy said it's going to be quite tamed, red wine,
[52:53] Speaker 2: schnitzels and past or. Is that the same for you?
[52:56] Speaker 6: Well, it will be, but he he forgot to mention
[52:59] Speaker 6: he guys, let's.
[53:01] Speaker 5: Just and.
[53:07] Speaker 4: No, I did not say that. I said nothing of
[53:10] Speaker 4: the thought, nothing of the thought.
[53:13] Speaker 6: Yeah, we're going to go, Yeah, we're going to go
[53:15] Speaker 6: to Bill and Tony's clawed. He's the owner and Eva.
[53:20] Speaker 6: So they've been in the cafe business for a long
[53:23] Speaker 6: long time. First started at Castle Hill. Yeah, and what
[53:26] Speaker 6: the Bill and Tony has been going to This is
[53:28] Speaker 6: the sixtieth year it's been open.
[53:30] Speaker 5: Yeah.
[53:30] Speaker 6: So they gorded about fifteen years ago and have just
[53:33] Speaker 6: dramatically turned it into one of Sydney's favorite Italian restaurants,
[53:37] Speaker 6: not only good for businessmen but also great for family.
[53:40] Speaker 2: Can I ask Brian, are you guys paying for this dinner?
[53:42] Speaker 2: Or is this is this like a part of some
[53:44] Speaker 2: sort of freeview.
[53:46] Speaker 6: Look, I'm willing to pay, but I presume they want
[53:49] Speaker 6: something for their services. But now I think it is
[53:53] Speaker 6: on the house gratis if you will.
[53:55] Speaker 2: Oh well, but that's you know, that's not that's not
[53:57] Speaker 2: a testament. It's a test into what you three you know, Matthew,
[54:02] Speaker 2: Hendi and Fletch. You guys do week in week out
[54:04] Speaker 2: for the rugby league community. Bill and Tony are rewarding
[54:06] Speaker 2: you for that effort. So congratulations, Uh more than Bill.
[54:11] Speaker 6: If you can't be If you can't be rewarded from
[54:12] Speaker 6: Bill and Tony, who else do you want to be
[54:14] Speaker 6: rewarded by?
[54:15] Speaker 2: Hey? Yeah?
[54:18] Speaker 3: Cool?
[54:20] Speaker 2: Yeah, Well I heard Hendi's got some cash in his wallet.
[54:23] Speaker 2: Maybe they can get a start a little bit later.
[54:25] Speaker 6: And he's going to turn that into two hundred one dollars.
[54:32] Speaker 2: Oh well, well, thanks for joining the program, guys, Thanks boys, thanks,
[54:38] Speaker 2: good goodbye everyone. Thanks for joining the program.
[54:41] Speaker 5: He mate, mate, really proud that YouTube lakes must done.
[54:44] Speaker 1: Okay, right? Cool?
[54:46] Speaker 2: I wish I could say the same, see matey bye bye.
[54:51] Speaker 3: Well that was interesting.
[54:52] Speaker 2: That was not what I expected it to be.
[54:56] Speaker 3: But never again, thanks for filling into.
