[0:08] SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to Numbers on the Boo.
[0:10] SPEAKER_01: Numbers of the Boo.
[0:16] SPEAKER_01: Is that because the White Sox are in first place?
[0:19] SPEAKER_01: Is that why you're so excited today?
[0:20] SPEAKER_01: Or something else might have happened?
[0:21] SPEAKER_01: Just can't lose.
[0:23] SPEAKER_01: Just can't lose.
[0:24] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[0:25] SPEAKER_04: Just can't lose.
[0:27] SPEAKER_04: I'll never forget somebody who said, what can't Pete do?
[0:30] SPEAKER_04: Lose?
[0:31] SPEAKER_04: Shout out to everything's booze.
[0:33] SPEAKER_04: What up though?
[0:35] SPEAKER_04: Eee, that was nice in Detroit.
[0:36] SPEAKER_04: What up though?
[0:38] SPEAKER_01: One of the luxuries of doing the show as many times as we do nowadays is that we get an opportunity to talk about this game fresh off of it.
[0:44] SPEAKER_01: You know, last year we had to wait all the way to Saturday to talk about the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history, but we got it today.
[0:51] SPEAKER_01: How are we feeling today, boys?
[0:54] SPEAKER_00: I'm glad we got a Knicks fans up or a Knicks fan up here, man.
[0:56] SPEAKER_02: Ain't it crazy we saw history twice in one game?
[0:59] SPEAKER_00: Talk to me.
[1:00] SPEAKER_02: We saw the largest lead of halftime in NBA Finals history.
[1:04] SPEAKER_02: Excluding the bubble.
[1:05] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[1:05] SPEAKER_02: And then all of a sudden we see that lead get erased.
[1:08] SPEAKER_02: And we saw the Knicks go out there and win that game.
[1:11] SPEAKER_02: It was such a crazy first half watching all the threes.
[1:15] SPEAKER_02: It was just like a barrage of threes that like the Knicks didn't have no answer to.
[1:19] SPEAKER_02: And it's like you live or die by the three, and the Spurs legitimately lived, and then they died in the same game by the three-point shot.
[1:29] SPEAKER_00: It was very reminiscent of the comeback against the Cavs.
[1:33] SPEAKER_00: Where the Cavs really just couldn't find anything in the second half, and the Knicks just took advantage.
[1:38] SPEAKER_02: But the I I can't I understand that, but the Spurs have a 7-5 demigod that either figure something out to where they offense isn't just all threes.
[1:48] SPEAKER_02: There was a point where they got three offensive rebounds, then Wimby took two threes in that possession.
[1:53] SPEAKER_02: And I'm just like, what are y'all doing?
[1:56] SPEAKER_02: It's like y'all, y'all legitimately are enabling this comeback by continuing to just put up all these threes.
[2:03] SPEAKER_02: I understand that in the first half it gave y'all the lead.
[2:06] SPEAKER_02: But y'all at some point got to realize, okay, the shot's not falling.
[2:09] SPEAKER_02: Let's get something easier.
[2:10] SPEAKER_02: Let's work on like let's get someone to like basket.
[2:13] SPEAKER_02: No, they just kept shooting.
[2:14] SPEAKER_00: I don't think it was like they showed the youth, and like that's been a conversation the whole playoffs, and they didn't show the youth for sure.
[2:22] SPEAKER_00: But they didn't also show that that youth didn't matter a lot of times.
[2:26] SPEAKER_00: For them to kind of just keep settling with those jumpers and just understanding like the Knicks were hitting their shots right back.
[2:32] SPEAKER_00: They had so many times where they didn't have a lead in the playoffs, whether it be in the first quarter or going into the second, like they've had multiple times where teams have kind of struck struck back as they should.
[2:42] SPEAKER_00: For them not to be able to have like comfortable plays or something they could just go to.
[2:48] SPEAKER_00: And a lot of that was the Knicks' defense and them not giving up.
[2:50] SPEAKER_00: Every time they got a chance, they pushed the ball, especially after stops and after turnovers.
[2:55] SPEAKER_00: But I'm right there with D Mills.
[2:57] SPEAKER_00: There's no way you can't find ways to get easy baskets with a dude that's 7'5.
[3:01] SPEAKER_01: Do y'all think it was over over going into halftime?
[3:03] SPEAKER_01: Like with a little bit of time.
[3:05] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[3:06] SPEAKER_00: It almost to the point where it was like, not like it's for real.
[3:10] SPEAKER_00: Like it felt like it was destined to go game seven.
[3:12] SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
[3:13] SPEAKER_00: It was gonna have the Knicks, they took the two games on the road, and then the Spurs came back and they punched back two, took two games in the garden, and then it was gonna have to be a battle out from there.
[3:24] SPEAKER_00: The fact that the Knicks kind of came back on that 30-point, basically 30-point comeback, it just kind of feel like they just took the air out all out of the Spurs.
[3:34] SPEAKER_01: I think that my first all this game is over.
[3:36] SPEAKER_01: Thought was one minute into the game when Carnival Towns picked up that second foul.
[3:40] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[3:41] SPEAKER_01: I'm just like, now we have to see Mike Brown had his Hodge Podge rotation of centers.
[3:45] SPEAKER_01: We know Mitchell Robinson can't really play more than 21 minutes, and he was only averaging 11 minutes in the series at this point.
[3:51] SPEAKER_01: So who else is gonna come off that bench?
[3:52] SPEAKER_01: Huck Porti, here he comes.
[3:54] SPEAKER_01: Uh Jeremy Sohan, here he comes.
[3:56] SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh man, this is this is gonna be real tough.
[3:59] SPEAKER_01: And then you add on all of the threes.
[4:01] SPEAKER_01: I mean, my goodness, De'Aaron Fox had two threes in the corner.
[4:04] SPEAKER_01: Uh Carter Bryant hit a three-pointer.
[4:06] SPEAKER_01: At some point, you just put your hands up and say, this is the greatest shooting performance in the history of the state.
[4:11] SPEAKER_01: It's like every even in that when the Knicks had small runs, 6-0 runs, it was Devin Vasale trail three, boom, to end that run.
[4:18] SPEAKER_01: So in my mind, I think we hidden the group chat a little bit.
[4:20] SPEAKER_01: I said, man, I should turn this game off.
[4:21] SPEAKER_01: I should go play the game right now.
[4:22] SPEAKER_01: Cause that's how I should have dropped that.
[4:24] SPEAKER_01: I felt like as soon as you said that too.
[4:26] SPEAKER_01: I talked about it in my video.
[4:27] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[4:28] SPEAKER_01: But even on Twitter hits different, though.
[4:30] SPEAKER_01: But there was never a real moment in time where I was like, I'm gonna turn this game off.
[4:33] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[4:34] SPEAKER_01: Um, but I even going into that, I never thought it was a possibility that the Knicks were gonna be able to pull off a comeback.
[4:40] SPEAKER_01: Because even when they were, you know, nicking away, no pun intended, at the at the lead, I'm like, okay, the Spurs will have some type of answer.
[4:48] SPEAKER_01: There will be a timeout eventually.
[4:50] SPEAKER_01: There will be some substitutions eventually, but then that it turned into a 20-4 run before Mitch Johnson decided to burn one of his timeouts.
[4:57] SPEAKER_01: And at that point, damage is done.
[4:59] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, it was the threes.
[5:01] SPEAKER_00: They got the barrage of threes right back.
[5:02] SPEAKER_00: It was OG, it was Jalen Brunson, it was Kat.
[5:05] SPEAKER_00: Like, it came, they came back so quick.
[5:08] SPEAKER_00: It went from the the 29 to 22 to 15, and then it's like, oh, snap, they right back in the game.
[5:14] SPEAKER_00: It's actually a decent amount of time left.
[5:16] SPEAKER_00: And you had to think that the Knicks were gonna, they weren't gonna back down because it's been multiple times throughout this playoffs that they've just done that, where they've felt like they were down and out and kind of come back and took the lead.
[5:28] SPEAKER_00: And in this kind of miss, and if they end up which they got a good chance to win a championship, it's so nice to see Jalen Brunson kind of really in that light.
[5:36] SPEAKER_00: I know he didn't hit the big shot and that was really OG, but he has been such a he's a one of just like the clutchest players that kind of has been throughout, you know, the the league in the recent years.
[5:47] SPEAKER_00: It's times where he's just kind of jabbing at you, jabbing at you, jabbing at you, and these moments where the crowd is loud and the other team cannot do nothing.
[5:57] SPEAKER_00: He is trying, he is trying to put you in the ground.
[5:59] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's a few of his shots that like, yeah, it wasn't the big shot, but that right wing corner three over Victor Wimedyama.
[6:05] SPEAKER_01: Yes, that that shot was crazy.
[6:07] SPEAKER_01: Ridiculous.
[6:07] SPEAKER_01: And then the other one where he got the and one where he just flipped the ball at the rim, those are ones I will remember for a very long time.
[6:12] SPEAKER_01: Because yeah, it wasn't the shot, but my goodness, those are the ones that keep the the guard in the room.
[6:17] SPEAKER_02: Because that shot over Wimby gave him their first lead since like the first quarter.
[6:21] SPEAKER_01: The whole time I'm watching the comeback, though I'm thinking about Mike Breen, who's calling the game and a diehard Knicks fan.
[6:26] SPEAKER_01: He gave us a bang in the corner.
[6:27] SPEAKER_01: Is that OG in the corner?
[6:29] SPEAKER_01: He gave us a bang called.
[6:30] SPEAKER_01: And I'm just like, he's watching the greatest comeback of all time in finals history while simultaneously trying to call it neutrally while being one of the biggest Knicks fans in their whole building.
[6:40] SPEAKER_01: So, like, uh shout out, shout out to Mike Breen.
[6:42] SPEAKER_01: Um, y'all wanna play blame game?
[6:44] unknown: Yeah.
[6:45] SPEAKER_01: 100% of the pie.
[6:46] SPEAKER_01: Because I think the Spurs didn't just blow this game once.
[6:48] SPEAKER_01: They blew this game like five times.
[6:50] SPEAKER_01: You know, blowing a 29-point lead.
[6:52] SPEAKER_01: We ain't even mentioned the name De'Ran Fox in his attempt.
[6:56] SPEAKER_01: Uh, not calling the timeouts.
[6:58] SPEAKER_01: They get the offensive rebound for Stefan Cows, because Josh, Josh Hart was trying to blow this game for y'all.
[7:01] SPEAKER_01: Um, they get the offensive where he hits the free throws.
[7:03] SPEAKER_01: When Binyama misses two free throws.
[7:05] SPEAKER_01: There's like a times where they blew the game.
[7:09] SPEAKER_00: That's someone that hurts me.
[7:10] SPEAKER_01: And then they didn't, they aren't able to get the the inbound of OG Ananobi on the missed shot where OG can crash the glass.
[7:15] SPEAKER_01: So, like, there are so many moments in this game where the inexperienced team looked hella inexperienced.
[7:19] SPEAKER_02: Well, De'Aaron Fox doesn't have an inexperience.
[7:22] SPEAKER_02: I know he in he's inexperienced when it comes to being in the finals, but this is supposed to be a veteran guard.
[7:26] SPEAKER_02: He's supposed to be able to steer the ship when everything is going crazy.
[7:30] SPEAKER_02: He's supposed to be the one that keeps everything steady.
[7:33] SPEAKER_02: And he had the opportunity to do that, and he made a rookie mistake.
[7:36] SPEAKER_02: I genuinely don't understand that layup attempt with OG trailing and what made him think that he was gonna outrun him with a game on the line.
[7:45] SPEAKER_02: I just don't understand.
[7:46] SPEAKER_02: Because, like, it's not even the fact that he thought he could outrun him.
[7:49] SPEAKER_02: You have the game under control.
[7:50] SPEAKER_02: You don't have a one-point lead.
[7:52] SPEAKER_02: All he has to do is nash dribble that, take it out.
[7:55] SPEAKER_02: Nothing about it makes sense.
[7:56] SPEAKER_02: Some more clock, some more time is gonna come off the clock.
[7:59] SPEAKER_02: That's the part.
[7:59] SPEAKER_01: I've I don't understand.
[8:01] SPEAKER_01: I've thought about it since the moment.
[8:02] SPEAKER_01: Like, is like what is the scenario where that makes sense?
[8:05] SPEAKER_01: And you can't get to that conclusion.
[8:07] SPEAKER_01: No, I can't.
[8:07] SPEAKER_02: Even if he makes the shot, you still got a lot of time to get a little bit of a couple.
[8:12] SPEAKER_02: So there's nothing about it that makes sense.
[8:15] SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
[8:16] SPEAKER_02: I can't sometimes I try to stab the player and be like, okay, I see that.
[8:18] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can't.
[8:20] SPEAKER_01: This is one of the ones where there is no there is no real way.
[8:26] SPEAKER_04: Between a pass out of bounds to castle, the dribble off the foot turnover, um, some of the step back threes, the block, not boxing.
[8:36] SPEAKER_04: Well, I mean, it was hard to box OG out because he went to double Brunson.
[8:40] SPEAKER_01: But also, you know, him trying to get the switch that he wanted and that switches OG Ananobi.
[8:44] SPEAKER_01: Like trying to hunt OG on.
[8:45] SPEAKER_01: I know he hit the big shot at game three over OG, but trying to hunt OG Ananobi is one of the craziest things you can do in this situation.
[8:51] SPEAKER_00: That don't make sense.
[8:52] SPEAKER_01: It don't make any sense.
[8:53] SPEAKER_00: The one that hurts me is the Wemby free throws.
[8:55] SPEAKER_00: Yes.
[8:56] SPEAKER_00: Because that was just an opportunity where everything was kind of just going wrong and you had a chance to calm it down.
[9:02] SPEAKER_00: De'Aaron Frox at least stepped up and hit the two free throws to kind of, you know, calm it down.
[9:07] SPEAKER_00: That at least they missed those two points.
[9:09] SPEAKER_00: You know, because Vic is not like a 10% free throw shooter.
[9:12] SPEAKER_00: He's an amazing free throw shooter.
[9:13] SPEAKER_00: It's not like he's one of the.
[9:16] SPEAKER_04: And you truly seen that in the You get tired when you waste on your energy trying to troll.
[9:21] SPEAKER_04: When you're trying to get him people here.
[9:22] SPEAKER_01: What you say what tweet was that you saw?
[9:24] SPEAKER_01: Somebody commented on my video, Wimbadiama got so much into Mitchell Robinson's head that he stole his free throw shooting ability.
[9:31] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
[9:32] SPEAKER_00: And I think it truly hurts for the Spurs because they're they can look at it as they're getting really they're not getting beat.
[9:41] SPEAKER_04: Seriously tied up analytically.
[9:44] SPEAKER_04: Like they're gonna be able to get away from the shop.
[9:45] SPEAKER_00: They're in control for most of these games.
[9:47] SPEAKER_00: Like they have the leads.
[9:48] SPEAKER_00: There's just these fourth quarter stretches where they cannot get it done.
[9:51] SPEAKER_04: And we even had that in game three.
[9:53] SPEAKER_04: Remember at the very end, we was making threes and threes and threes.
[9:56] SPEAKER_04: Made it interesting.
[9:58] SPEAKER_02: It's kind of crazy.
[9:59] SPEAKER_02: This team put up 81 points in the first half.
[10:01] SPEAKER_02: They put up 25 points in the second half.
[10:02] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[10:03] SPEAKER_02: And they got out, and the Knicks put up 55 in the second half.
[10:06] SPEAKER_04: Like that's they had more turnovers than made field goals in the second half.
[10:10] SPEAKER_04: And nine turnovers to eight field goals made.
[10:12] SPEAKER_00: Knicks couldn't believe it.
[10:13] SPEAKER_00: They was going so fast trying to score.
[10:15] SPEAKER_00: Josh Hart smoked the layup.
[10:16] SPEAKER_01: Dude, Josh Hart had a brutal two minutes.
[10:18] SPEAKER_01: He gets the steal, blows the layup because he didn't know if he wanted to dunk or lay the ball up.
[10:23] SPEAKER_01: He fouls to find Castle on the offensive rebound because he didn't box out.
[10:27] SPEAKER_01: And then the free throws that set up when Wimbiyama missed, that was Josh Hart pushing him in the back on the offensive rebound attempt.
[10:33] SPEAKER_01: That was three possessions where he cost him in theory six points.
[10:37] SPEAKER_01: But because bad free throw shooting and so on, it didn't matter.
[10:40] SPEAKER_01: I think he even said in his post-game interview, he owes OJ and Obi for a lifetime because he was about to be a villain right there.
[10:46] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I honestly I think that would have been hard to sleep with, knowing that in those final two minutes you had all those blunders.
[10:52] SPEAKER_01: Did y'all see Larry David on the sideline when you missed that layup?
[10:55] SPEAKER_04: Oh no, I did not see him on this layup, no.
[10:57] SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, Larry David, like, I don't know, he gotta be 75.
[11:00] SPEAKER_01: He might be in his 80s.
[11:02] SPEAKER_01: And every time they show him, I'm like, bro, he needs to calm down.
[11:06] SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know what a 75-year-old hard.
[11:08] SPEAKER_00: I just be wondering how it's how it feels for some of these older guys when it's like just a late game, it's 10 o'clock.
[11:15] SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it gets late because the game don't start till 8:30 over there.
[11:18] SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was 78.
[11:20] SPEAKER_00: He's 78 years old.
[11:22] SPEAKER_04: Mike, you why are you acting like old people gotta go to bed at 8?
[11:26] SPEAKER_04: 10 o'clock?
[11:27] SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
[11:27] SPEAKER_04: I'm half.
[11:28] SPEAKER_00: I'm more than half the age, and I'll be getting ready.
[11:30] SPEAKER_00: I'll be ready for bed after some.
[11:32] SPEAKER_02: Not in no games, not in no game four in the garden.
[11:34] SPEAKER_02: I was I definitely wasn't ready for bed.
[11:36] SPEAKER_02: I was on the edge of my seat.
[11:38] SPEAKER_02: Like that game had me up.
[11:40] SPEAKER_02: That was so crazy about it.
[11:42] SPEAKER_02: It was such a snooze fest in the first half.
[11:44] SPEAKER_01: I don't even think it was a snooze fest, honestly.
[11:46] SPEAKER_01: I know it wasn't competitive.
[11:47] SPEAKER_01: They were hitting every shot.
[11:48] SPEAKER_02: The tough shot making made me still be interested if in a way.
[11:51] SPEAKER_02: But it was kind of like it was just a whole shift in the whole game feel, the whole second half.
[11:56] SPEAKER_01: It's a long game.
[11:57] SPEAKER_01: It's a very long game.
[11:58] SPEAKER_02: And I think that's the like the Knicks mentality.
[12:00] SPEAKER_02: Like they feel like we are never out of a game.
[12:03] SPEAKER_02: Like, we still can win this game no matter what.
[12:05] SPEAKER_02: And I think that's what makes them so dangerous.
[12:07] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we'll get to that, but we got to take our first break.
[12:10] SPEAKER_01: When we come back, we got more numbers on the board.
[12:12] SPEAKER_01: Derek, you mentioned something at the end of that first segment about the Knicks keeping their head down and staying in it.
[12:19] SPEAKER_01: Um, that's what it truly felt like.
[12:20] SPEAKER_01: While on the other side of things, it did feel like Mitch Johnson played his hand very early on in the third quarter by having long stretches of Waminiama thinking that they would be able to extend the lead so that Wamby wouldn't have to play in the fourth quarter so he can be well rested.
[12:33] SPEAKER_01: And while the Knicks was just like, we're gonna keep doing our thing and and getting away at this lead, it really was a difference in coaching styles as well.
[12:41] SPEAKER_01: I mentioned earlier, 20 to 4 run before the Spurs started to burn timeouts.
[12:46] SPEAKER_01: And at that point, it's just way too late.
[12:48] SPEAKER_01: I understand you're up by 29, but it can't be that large of a run before you start to call your first timeout.
[12:55] SPEAKER_01: I think after, I don't care what the lead is, after nine, though, you gotta you gotta do something.
[12:58] SPEAKER_01: And that wasn't the case for Mitch Johnson.
[13:00] SPEAKER_04: I don't know how y'all feel because y'all not Nick fans.
[13:03] SPEAKER_04: And I'm also not gonna get up here and lie.
[13:05] SPEAKER_04: Um yesterday was a long day for me.
[13:07] SPEAKER_04: Um I had to watch the first half on my phone.
[13:10] SPEAKER_04: My power was out for like six hours.
[13:13] SPEAKER_04: And um obviously it was a tough first half to watch, but then my phone said 2%.
[13:19] SPEAKER_04: And like I was just sitting waiting, just expecting my power to come back on at any time because it said it was gonna come back on at 655.
[13:25] SPEAKER_04: I got so caught up in the game that I'm like, oh my gosh, I my power's still not on.
[13:29] SPEAKER_04: So I had to jump in my car, charge my phone while I'm driving to my mom's crib and watch the second half at my mom's crib.
[13:36] SPEAKER_04: And um I was I was getting my mom to understand because she saw that they was loser.
[13:42] SPEAKER_04: And she was like, I've been rooting for the niggas, so I know how much you love them for so long, and blah, blah, blah.
[13:46] SPEAKER_04: And they was only down 15.
[13:47] SPEAKER_04: She's like, oh man, they getting killed.
[13:49] SPEAKER_04: I'm like, you have no idea.
[13:51] SPEAKER_04: They were down 22 years ago.
[13:53] SPEAKER_04: Um, but I remember telling her, like, not that I knew all that was gonna happen, because that would, that part would be a lie.
[14:03] SPEAKER_04: But I still was invested even when they were down 29, because it was so much time left, and all I kept thinking about was that Cavs game.
[14:12] SPEAKER_04: That's all I kept thinking about was like, if they can have a strong third quarter, it's the Knicks have a chance.
[14:18] SPEAKER_04: This third quarter is so important.
[14:21] SPEAKER_04: And then I remember telling her, and I also said this in my video, I know there are so many Knicks fans who was watching that game, whether in attendance or on TV, and it was certain plays that happened that told you what was gonna happen way before we saw.
[14:35] SPEAKER_04: Like, for example, when Jose Alvarado hit that three, you could not tell me that the Knicks weren't gonna win the game.
[14:42] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[14:42] SPEAKER_04: OG had another one of those threes where it bounced and rolled around and went in.
[14:46] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[14:47] SPEAKER_04: Right?
[14:47] SPEAKER_04: Like those step back three on the wings.
[14:49] SPEAKER_04: When Kat hit that shot when he was falling out of bounds, I was like, oh yes.
[14:53] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[14:53] SPEAKER_04: And then it was a part where we had these little runs, um, and then the Spurs would like score.
[14:59] SPEAKER_04: I think like we got it down to like five, and De'Aaron Fox or somebody hit a three or something.
[15:03] SPEAKER_04: Um, one of the few threes that they hit in the second half, and it was like, dang.
[15:08] SPEAKER_04: And then we kept having a couple of possessions where he just looked ugly all of a sudden.
[15:12] SPEAKER_04: But I kept telling myself, as long as we are doing what we're doing defensively, we're gonna be okay.
[15:17] SPEAKER_04: Like, we're gonna have some possessions where we just don't look good offensively.
[15:21] SPEAKER_04: But like them turning the ball over, that possession that you mentioned when they got two offensive rebounds and when we shot both threes, that was a Dylan Harper like step back air ball three.
[15:30] SPEAKER_04: I was like, we're good.
[15:31] SPEAKER_04: We're good.
[15:32] SPEAKER_04: We just got to slow it down a little bit, but we are good.
[15:35] SPEAKER_04: But there were certain plays well before we got it below double digits that told me we were gonna win the game.
[15:40] SPEAKER_04: That Jose Alvarado, like I cannot tell you how convinced I was after Alvarado made that three.
[15:46] SPEAKER_04: Like, that's all I needed to see.
[15:48] SPEAKER_04: Um it's just crazy.
[15:51] SPEAKER_04: It's just crazy to think that a team blew a 29-point lead in the finals.
[15:56] SPEAKER_04: In the finals.
[15:56] SPEAKER_04: In the finals.
[15:57] SPEAKER_00: They put up, D Mill said like they put up almost 80 points in the first half.
[16:02] SPEAKER_00: And they really just couldn't find the basket in the second half.
[16:05] SPEAKER_00: And I to what to your credit, P like around just having so much time left, 20-point leads aren't really nothing, you know, at this point.
[16:14] SPEAKER_00: They hit a couple threes.
[16:15] SPEAKER_00: It was already back to around 10.
[16:17] SPEAKER_02: So if that's why when I saw it was 15 going to the fourth, I was like, oh, this is gettable.
[16:22] SPEAKER_02: And I know they felt it too.
[16:23] SPEAKER_02: Like a 15-point lead in the fourth, that is so gettable.
[16:27] SPEAKER_02: And they felt you felt it with the Knicks.
[16:29] SPEAKER_02: Especially for this team.
[16:30] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was more so of like a I guess uh eyesight type of thing, or just like visual thing.
[16:36] SPEAKER_00: But even though they were down by like 20 and down by like a large amount of large amount of points at times, they were still playing like they were, it was only a five-point game.
[16:45] SPEAKER_00: And I think that gave them the benefit of the doubt when it came down to it.
[16:48] SPEAKER_00: The Spurs just couldn't score.
[16:49] SPEAKER_01: I thought they also just looked really sloppy in that first half offensive.
[16:52] SPEAKER_01: Like we mentioned, some some guys who want to take three-point shots, took them and he and they made them.
[16:56] SPEAKER_01: But some of the ones just look like, I don't know, when uh the Atlanta, was that game two versus Atlanta, where there are many times where CJ McCollum just found his way wide open?
[17:05] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[17:05] SPEAKER_01: And it's like Josh Hart's looking at this guy, uh, and he's looking over here.
[17:09] SPEAKER_01: It's like, man, what happened to that cohesion defensively?
[17:11] SPEAKER_01: I thought in the first half, it was many possessions where the Spurs got a wide open look from somebody you don't want to shoot the ball because of some miscommunications.
[17:18] SPEAKER_01: But in the second half, I don't know if that happened one time.
[17:20] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[17:21] SPEAKER_01: Like, I think all of the shots that the Spurs generated from three were shots you kind of want to give up.
[17:25] SPEAKER_01: I think Devin Sale had two that were pretty wide, but like Champney just didn't have it going.
[17:31] SPEAKER_01: But like Dylan, yeah, Dylan Harper stepped back three.
[17:33] SPEAKER_01: That's exactly what you want if you Mike Brown.
[17:35] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[17:35] SPEAKER_01: Uh Dear Fox did hit the one on the left wing to kind of calm some things down.
[17:39] SPEAKER_01: But the next possession down, he attempted another one.
[17:41] SPEAKER_01: That time he missed it.
[17:42] SPEAKER_00: But yeah, so it was really great.
[17:44] SPEAKER_00: Those are the moments I feel like Pete's talking about, though.
[17:46] SPEAKER_00: Even though he hit that three, they didn't really shoot good at all in that whole second half.
[17:51] SPEAKER_00: You would have liked if they would have got something easy at the rim or got an easy play cough or easy, just to like really spark that the offense was back.
[17:59] SPEAKER_00: That three was just like a oh, it was like a bailout in the moment.
[18:03] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[18:03] SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
[18:04] SPEAKER_00: It's it didn't spark the offense or get the offense back, but it definitely gave him a little bit more cushion.
[18:09] SPEAKER_00: But that three leading up to another three is just like it was almost fool's goal.
[18:15] SPEAKER_04: Y'all talk to what you gonna say?
[18:16] SPEAKER_01: I was just saying that this this blown lead is so consequent consequential.
[18:20] SPEAKER_01: Consequent consequential that were.
[18:22] SPEAKER_01: Uh because you go from for for the first half thinking that okay, now this is about to be a best of three series, and we have two home games.
[18:30] SPEAKER_01: This is our series to win, to my goodness, the series is over.
[18:34] SPEAKER_04: You have to win every game.
[18:35] SPEAKER_01: You have to win every single game out.
[18:37] SPEAKER_01: And I just we've seen it once before with LeBron James, but like that, this team don't look like it had the Knicks are just too steady.
[18:42] SPEAKER_01: It does.
[18:43] SPEAKER_01: They're just too steady.
[18:44] SPEAKER_04: And I I'm like, I could even say, as a Knicks fan, as like as great of a team as we are, um, we are having like that magical.
[18:53] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[18:53] SPEAKER_04: It's just like that no matter what you're doing, you're not gonna beat this team because they are destined to win.
[18:59] SPEAKER_04: It's just like that March Madness team that, you know what I mean, is just, I mean, we're better than a Cinderella, so we're not a Cinderella story.
[19:06] SPEAKER_04: But it's just like one of those, those, those teams that's just connected.
[19:09] SPEAKER_04: The Seahawks from the the playoffs of last year, or you know, we I it's hard for me to explain, but it's like when you can have the 22-point comeback against the Cavs, or you can have this comeback, uh, not even just a comeback.
[19:21] SPEAKER_04: OG Ananobi tipped the ball in.
[19:24] SPEAKER_04: Yes.
[19:25] SPEAKER_04: Like it would be one thing.
[19:26] SPEAKER_04: If Brunson had made that three, it's just like, oh, that's a bad MFR.
[19:29] SPEAKER_04: Like, I just can't, you know, you just kind of tip your hat off.
[19:32] SPEAKER_04: This dude came from the three-point line, just flying in.
[19:35] SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
[19:36] SPEAKER_04: Not Cat.
[19:37] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[19:37] SPEAKER_04: Not a B, not Mitchell Robinson, OG Ananobi.
[19:40] SPEAKER_02: The ball just bounced perfectly for him to be able to get it.
[19:42] SPEAKER_02: Just perfectly.
[19:43] SPEAKER_02: It had to hit the rim just slightly different, and he probably doesn't get that tipping.
[19:47] SPEAKER_02: And I don't mean to be a glazer.
[19:49] SPEAKER_02: You can't glaze right now.
[19:50] SPEAKER_02: I don't mean to be a glazer.
[19:51] SPEAKER_04: Because OG deserves all of the love in the world.
[19:53] SPEAKER_04: Yes, he does.
[19:54] SPEAKER_04: But it's something about Jalen Brunson, dog.
[19:57] SPEAKER_04: Like, it's guys like him went like, I would love to just just look at his brain.
[20:05] SPEAKER_04: Do you know the cojones?
[20:07] SPEAKER_04: Because I watched that play over.
[20:09] SPEAKER_04: You see the shot he took?
[20:10] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[20:11] SPEAKER_04: He was so like, I'm him.
[20:13] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I'm shooting this shot because I don't want them to double me to take the ball out of my hands.
[20:18] SPEAKER_04: He saw that they was bringing a second and said, Oh, yeah, I'm just shooting this.
[20:22] SPEAKER_04: I'm shooting it because I'm living and I'm dying with this.
[20:25] SPEAKER_00: That's not even a shot I usually see him take before.
[20:27] SPEAKER_00: No, green three.
[20:29] SPEAKER_04: I am him.
[20:30] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[20:30] SPEAKER_04: We doing this on my behalf.
[20:32] SPEAKER_04: I'm willing to die about this.
[20:34] SPEAKER_04: That's what that said to me.
[20:35] SPEAKER_04: You ever seen somebody say, I'm willing to die about this?
[20:37] SPEAKER_00: That's like a Damian Lillard type shot with the Dames of Kobe's.
[20:41] SPEAKER_01: I also think maybe I'm thinking too much into it.
[20:44] SPEAKER_04: That was a strategic thing.
[20:45] SPEAKER_01: It was just strategic.
[20:46] SPEAKER_01: Just because there's so much time left.
[20:48] SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
[20:48] SPEAKER_01: And Wimbody Almost out of the out of the paint.
[20:50] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[20:50] SPEAKER_01: So offensive rebound is definitely now he didn't miss it on purpose perfectly for O Giannanobi.
[20:55] SPEAKER_01: But like you, you set yourself up for another opportunity.
[20:57] SPEAKER_01: Even if you miss and they get a rebound, you still can foul and you still, you know.
[21:00] SPEAKER_01: No, I see what you mean.
[21:01] SPEAKER_01: But man, man, man, that was just like I'm my my family's away right now, so it's just me in the crib.
[21:06] SPEAKER_01: I jump up and scream when OG Ananobi tips that shot at.
[21:10] SPEAKER_01: It's one of those type of reactions.
[21:11] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's one of them plays that's gonna be cemented forever.
[21:14] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, forever in history.
[21:16] SPEAKER_01: And OG Ananobi is as safe in New York as anybody's ever been.
[21:21] SPEAKER_01: You're not gonna be.
[21:22] SPEAKER_01: He literally does not miss shots, y'all.
[21:25] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[21:25] SPEAKER_01: He don't.
[21:25] SPEAKER_01: He is one of the greatest defenders in the entire league.
[21:29] SPEAKER_01: And then he has moments like this where even though you lost game three, that corner shot he took and made at the end to like make it interesting.
[21:37] SPEAKER_01: Like, how was that shot going?
[21:39] SPEAKER_04: That nigga went five or five from three.
[21:41] SPEAKER_04: He had a step back, middies.
[21:43] SPEAKER_04: He got like this fake, ugly bag that is still kind of pleasing at the same time because it ain't the sharp.
[21:49] SPEAKER_01: Did we get any big man dunks from yesterday?
[21:51] SPEAKER_01: I don't think we did.
[21:51] SPEAKER_04: No, you got the one going down the lane when Wimby was behind him, but it wasn't like a power up.
[21:56] SPEAKER_04: He kind of caught it in stride.
[21:57] SPEAKER_04: But yeah, man, um OG.
[22:00] SPEAKER_04: Is is yeah, he's he's so incredible.
[22:02] SPEAKER_04: Um it honestly don't make sense.
[22:04] SPEAKER_01: It only costs you RJ Barrett and he manual quickly, too.
[22:07] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, shout out to the Raptors, man.
[22:08] SPEAKER_04: For sure, for sure.
[22:10] SPEAKER_02: Watching him play basketball is just like they give away pieces and you go to the finals.
[22:13] SPEAKER_02: Pass it.
[22:14] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're more so shocked that he misses than like the make.
[22:17] SPEAKER_02: Like, you kind of expect him to make every shot.
[22:19] SPEAKER_02: He did.
[22:20] SPEAKER_02: The ones that I respect.
[22:21] SPEAKER_04: I said he'd make all those threes.
[22:22] SPEAKER_04: And he made all of them.
[22:23] SPEAKER_04: When he legitimate.
[22:24] SPEAKER_02: That one that bounced around the whole rim and went in.
[22:26] SPEAKER_02: I'm just like OG shit.
[22:28] SPEAKER_04: That's such an OG shot.
[22:28] SPEAKER_04: That's such an OG shot.
[22:30] SPEAKER_01: Does he fake like a superhero and we just don't?
[22:32] SPEAKER_04: Then he faked.
[22:32] SPEAKER_04: Well, I don't know why I just said fake.
[22:34] SPEAKER_04: Then he goes into the press conference and is like, yeah, we're excited.
[22:38] SPEAKER_04: I'm excited.
[22:38] SPEAKER_04: I'm excited too.
[22:40] SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, he he's just, but yeah, this is something about Bronson.
[22:43] SPEAKER_04: We talked about the clutch gene, and I think clutch is what people think of when it comes to Damian Lillard.
[22:48] SPEAKER_04: Where like I'm shooting over Paul George and like everybody runs on the court.
[22:52] SPEAKER_04: But I I've always said, I think clutch has a second layer where you're down nine and you got that guy.
[22:58] SPEAKER_04: And I think Shade also is one of those guys, Luca.
[23:01] SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of these guys around the league where you might not always have the Damian Lillard at the buzzer shot, but the shot when you're down seven, those back-to-back buckets when it's an 11-point game in the fourth quarter, and the team is desperate for some type of hope, and Jalen Brunson is just pulling shit out of his ass.
[23:20] SPEAKER_04: I mean, like, he literally flipped it up and got the end of the room.
[23:22] SPEAKER_00: I feel like you know you got that clutch team when this guy's like the guys you basically just mentioned that even when they having a rough night in those fourth quarter when no shot of Jalen Brunson is shooting a shot in that fourth quarter, you heart just dropped because it's like it's probably going in.
[23:36] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[23:36] SPEAKER_00: I mean, you don't expect them to miss.
[23:38] SPEAKER_04: My mom said something about Jalen Brunson, but it like she was like, she said something about him like in a negative way, but based off how he was looking.
[23:45] SPEAKER_04: And I was like, I was like, hey, you that's my captain.
[23:49] SPEAKER_04: He's locked in.
[23:50] SPEAKER_04: I don't know what you're talking about.
[23:51] SPEAKER_04: He's locked in.
[23:51] SPEAKER_04: She like, yeah, his eye, he's why he looking like that.
[23:54] SPEAKER_04: He's because he's locked in.
[23:55] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he don't sleep.
[23:55] SPEAKER_04: I said, that's the Knicks' best player.
[23:57] SPEAKER_04: And then he missed the next shot.
[23:59] SPEAKER_04: She said, he's gonna have to show me something.
[24:00] SPEAKER_04: Then he went in with the Giants, did the layup, and then he got the AM1.
[24:03] SPEAKER_04: And when he shot that three over Wimby, she was like, oh man.
[24:07] SPEAKER_04: And then I thought I was like, yeah, that's a day right there.
[24:09] SPEAKER_04: Oh man, I love this story.
[24:10] SPEAKER_02: I still don't even understand the shot of a wimby.
[24:13] SPEAKER_02: It looks so tough.
[24:14] SPEAKER_02: Yes.
[24:15] SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, it was tough.
[24:17] SPEAKER_02: He's 5'11.
[24:18] SPEAKER_02: I was mad.
[24:19] SPEAKER_02: Wimby's 7'5.
[24:20] SPEAKER_04: I was waiting on that shot three possessions before because he kept getting Wimby on him and dancing it.
[24:24] SPEAKER_04: I'm like, I know the shot coming, bro.
[24:26] SPEAKER_04: I watched it all year.
[24:27] SPEAKER_04: I've watched it every game.
[24:29] SPEAKER_04: It's just been a nick.
[24:30] SPEAKER_04: I'm I'm knowing the shot is coming, and he would he would not shoot it.
[24:32] SPEAKER_04: And I also had the floaters over.
[24:34] SPEAKER_04: I had a picture of the underrated why I need to watch it.
[24:36] SPEAKER_00: I just don't know how he begin those flip shots to go in.
[24:38] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
[24:39] SPEAKER_04: Hey.
[24:40] SPEAKER_04: He just be tossing it.
[24:41] SPEAKER_02: On TV, they they it look easy, but I don't know.
[24:43] SPEAKER_02: You know it's not.
[24:45] SPEAKER_02: I just don't understand the how to adjust the trajectory over that.
[24:48] SPEAKER_02: Like he be like the touch be pure.
[24:50] SPEAKER_04: I feel the same way about OG because Vic closes out on his threes and he's still gonna be like, You're good.
[24:58] SPEAKER_01: Shout out to Captain Jalen Brunson.
[25:00] SPEAKER_01: You love a captain that'll go down with the ship.
[25:03] SPEAKER_01: It don't matter what the score was, he's taking 25 to 30 shots.
[25:05] SPEAKER_01: It don't matter if he won of 24, that 25th shot will go up.
[25:09] SPEAKER_01: And you gotta respect it.
[25:10] SPEAKER_00: And once he smells blood, he likes a shark.
[25:13] SPEAKER_01: He is a shark.
[25:13] SPEAKER_01: All right, we're gonna take a quick break, but we'll get back to game four of the NBA Finals.
[25:18] SPEAKER_01: Stay tuned.
[25:19] SPEAKER_01: I think one of the worst parts for the Spurs is that two of these games is one possession away from a winner.
[25:26] SPEAKER_01: Losing the NBA Finals sucks regardless.
[25:29] SPEAKER_01: But to be that close from the Wimbin Yama pass to Stefan Castle that leads to a turnover.
[25:34] SPEAKER_01: For the missed free throws and the miss 20 29 point lead go away, they're gonna look back on the 2026 finals and be like, damn, that was ours.
[25:43] SPEAKER_01: And we just blew it.
[25:44] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[25:45] SPEAKER_00: And it's it's so tough because for a young team, you have to understand that what you kind of accomplished this season is just it's super hard to do.
[25:54] SPEAKER_00: Like, we just really don't see that at all.
[25:56] SPEAKER_00: I mean, I think the OK OKC was in that little bit of territory, but even then, Shay was not no 22-year-old guy who's kind of leading his team and everything.
[26:05] SPEAKER_00: Like Shay had to go over his speed bumps too.
[26:09] SPEAKER_00: This is one of them times where you feel like maybe like you have a really good chance to get back there, but it's the finals, and at this point in the NBA, you really just don't know.
[26:18] SPEAKER_00: It's not guaranteed.
[26:19] SPEAKER_01: We thought that that OKC team with KD, Ross, and Harden was gonna be back, and they never got back.
[26:24] SPEAKER_01: And uh, maybe you believe in this core a little bit more, even though that core had three literal MVPs eventually.
[26:31] SPEAKER_01: Uh, but you never know.
[26:32] SPEAKER_01: That Western Conference is a gauntlet, man.
[26:33] SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
[26:34] SPEAKER_01: It's a gauntlet.
[26:34] SPEAKER_01: OKC's gonna be back.
[26:36] SPEAKER_01: You know?
[26:37] SPEAKER_01: And the Denver's gonna be back to some capacity.
[26:39] SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a lot of teams you got to get through again to get here.
[26:42] SPEAKER_01: So they went from, you know, the conversations being when Benyama's gonna be the youngest player to lead his team to a championship since the 80s, to like you remember after the second game, one of y'all brought that somebody's like, hey, we're gonna hold that above your head for your whole career when he passed the ball to Seth Castle.
[26:59] SPEAKER_01: You pack pack on them two free throws.
[27:01] SPEAKER_00: And it's it's so cool, though, man.
[27:03] SPEAKER_00: I think it's such a like a blunder to me how and I'm not saying y'all really think about that, because I I there's gonna be some fans out there and some people with the viewpoint, and they are gonna really like hold this to him.
[27:16] SPEAKER_00: When it can only be like it can only be a pie, like this is such a big learning moment for these guys, and you would never want to be in this moment where you're losing the finals, but like I just said, these guys are around 10 years younger than me, and they're about they had a chance to go up against and almost had a chance to beat the New York Knicks.
[27:34] SPEAKER_00: Like, that's that team's playing amazing basketball right now.
[27:37] SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of so many bright sides that you can look out from this post.
[27:41] SPEAKER_04: I agree with you, Mike, but maybe for Dylan Harper.
[27:43] SPEAKER_04: We've been giving, we've been giving Wimby all of that that love, that attention.
[27:47] SPEAKER_04: Um, people saying best player in the world.
[27:49] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[27:49] SPEAKER_04: This is what comes up with it.
[27:50] SPEAKER_04: When you're the best player in the world, we don't really care about the age and everything like that.
[27:54] SPEAKER_04: And I hate to, I'm not trying to sound like Shaq, you know how Shaq be with the bigs or whatever.
[27:58] SPEAKER_04: But like this is a part of it.
[27:59] SPEAKER_04: We we can't be ready to say, like, a lot of large things have been said with the idea that he was potentially going to win a championship this earlier, even with just him getting to the finals.
[28:11] SPEAKER_04: And I and I I'm not against the things that was being said.
[28:14] SPEAKER_04: Um, but that comes with the territory.
[28:16] SPEAKER_04: So you can't have it both ways where it's like you young and you thriving, and we only can say the good things, but then when some of the hiccups come, it's like, oh, but he's young.
[28:24] SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
[28:25] SPEAKER_04: It's like if he's great and he's in that mode where people are saying best player in the world, most impactful player in the world at 22.
[28:31] SPEAKER_04: We we criticize the impactful play.
[28:33] SPEAKER_04: If you if Giannis was, if this was the Bucks and Giannis missed those two free throws, we're talking about him missing the two free throws and we're holding against him.
[28:40] SPEAKER_04: Now, should we hold against his head and say he's not gonna be a great player?
[28:45] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say.
[28:46] SPEAKER_01: More for Wimby because he's literally a 90% free throw shooter in the playoffs.
[28:50] SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
[28:50] SPEAKER_01: Giannis missed those two free throws, like, damn it, he only makes six out of ten anyway.
[28:54] SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, take Giannis out.
[28:55] SPEAKER_04: Take Pushay.
[28:56] SPEAKER_04: Oh, you're gonna be around the three.
[28:56] SPEAKER_04: I'm just saying, like great players GG's.
[28:58] SPEAKER_04: The great player in that position.
[29:00] SPEAKER_04: Because it's more than the free throws now, it's also that pass.
[29:02] SPEAKER_04: Yes.
[29:03] SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
[29:03] SPEAKER_04: That we we have to talk about it now as a great player, not as a 22-year-old.
[29:09] SPEAKER_04: He is 22, but he's also not, we've established that he's way past 22 like year old pools.
[29:15] SPEAKER_04: You we now have had conversations all year.
[29:18] SPEAKER_04: Shea Jokic him.
[29:19] SPEAKER_04: Shea Jokic him.
[29:20] SPEAKER_04: So now, the same way we would talk about Shay Jokic, we have to talk about Wimby.
[29:25] SPEAKER_04: Those are some bone-headed plays.
[29:26] SPEAKER_04: I think that also or or not the free throws wasn't boneheaded, but you know, he got to make them.
[29:31] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[29:32] SPEAKER_01: It's a lot of like conditioning when it comes to him.
[29:34] SPEAKER_01: I don't think it's a surprise that his worst games are coming off that one one-day true break.
[29:39] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for sure.
[29:40] SPEAKER_01: And I mean, luckily for him, they got two days now as they go back to San Antonio.
[29:44] SPEAKER_01: And every time he's had a two-day rest in the playoffs so far, he's come out and looked like a monster.
[29:48] SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
[29:48] SPEAKER_01: Um, so the Knicks got to be ready for that.
[29:50] SPEAKER_01: But I do think conditioning is a big thing.
[29:52] SPEAKER_01: I don't think going into halftime, him or Mitch Johnson thought, oh, he's gonna have to play 44 minutes.
[29:56] SPEAKER_01: He he's not gonna be able to sit down for the entire second half.
[29:59] SPEAKER_01: Like I like I said earlier, I think they they tried to expedite it so that Wemby wouldn't have to play late in that fourth quarter, but the Knicks kept kept fighting.
[30:07] SPEAKER_01: Um it's a lot of things that even with him being the best player in the world conversations, that he can go into this office and say, damn, I gotta get back.
[30:14] SPEAKER_00: I think that also is a mission for the Spurs to kind of take advantage of and just getting a backup center that could really not only work alongside Wendy because Lou Cornette, he has a lot of like Lou Cornette did a lot for the Spurs team.
[30:26] SPEAKER_00: I mean, hell, that chase down block on I don't want to discredit reasoning.
[30:30] SPEAKER_00: Lou Cornette at all, but there was definitely times throughout, not just the playoffs in general, where Mitch Johnson kind of had to look at that bench and be like, you know what, I just cannot put Lou Cornette in.
[30:40] SPEAKER_00: I just can't put him in at the end.
[30:41] SPEAKER_04: But you know why, though, right?
[30:42] SPEAKER_00: Why?
[30:43] SPEAKER_04: Number one, he's replacing something irreplaceable.
[30:46] SPEAKER_04: So you run into this regardless.
[30:48] SPEAKER_04: Like, can you name me a backup center that wouldn't have?
[30:51] SPEAKER_00: But it it wasn't just, I mean, you're not replacing anything he has, but to not be able to buy a few minutes for the guy, it's the same thing with yo, you still need a guy to buy yoke a minutes.
[30:59] SPEAKER_00: But that's the same thing.
[31:00] SPEAKER_04: Yoke is just such a great player that even those backup centers, we've seen them, we've seen them have not so good options, and then we've seen them address it, and you still can't make up because he he's that impactful.
[31:12] SPEAKER_04: So I don't know a backup center theoretically.
[31:15] SPEAKER_01: It goes from like the team can't take any shots at the rim to the team can take four, but four to zero is crazy.
[31:21] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, so that's that's what it boils down to.
[31:23] SPEAKER_01: And I think that I don't need yeah, they're traveling basically with four centers, if you're to think about it, between Biombo and Olinick and Plumley and Cornette, I guess Wemby, so five centers really on the roster.
[31:34] SPEAKER_00: Not even protecting the rim.
[31:36] SPEAKER_00: None of them dudes, besides Wemby, is willing to really step out and do anything on a pick and roll, honestly.
[31:42] SPEAKER_00: Even if Lou Cornett is sitting in the basket, you're gonna get a bunch of free shots.
[31:45] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, they they are all drop coverage bigs over anything, and Wemby's a hybrid where he can do both.
[31:49] SPEAKER_01: But I think what P saying is true that in order to not have a significant drop-off between Wemby and his backup, is that backup dead ass has to be a starting level center that just happens to be a backup.
[31:59] SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
[31:59] SPEAKER_01: And and Cornette is really good.
[32:02] SPEAKER_01: It just so happened that he's backing up one of the two best centers in basketball.
[32:05] SPEAKER_01: Give me another backup center, Mike.
[32:06] SPEAKER_01: Like even this year, they they give Valentinus in in Denver.
[32:09] SPEAKER_01: We're like, that's great.
[32:10] SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
[32:10] SPEAKER_01: But then also he still has a backup Jokit.
[32:12] SPEAKER_01: So it wasn't great.
[32:13] SPEAKER_04: And then you're all you also because they're so good, you were talking about drop coverage and and playing up on the screen.
[32:19] SPEAKER_04: The whole impactfulness comes throughout the whole course of the game.
[32:22] SPEAKER_04: So these dudes not about to sit.
[32:24] SPEAKER_04: Jokic is not sitting 15 minutes out of a game anyway.
[32:27] SPEAKER_04: And neither is Wimby in these times.
[32:29] SPEAKER_04: So, like, I yeah, I just don't think you find and like, yeah, Wimby is giving you 30 points in some of these games, uh, double-digit rebounds, uh two blocks, three steals, the threat of him, even when he's not blocking the shot, just his presence alone.
[32:44] SPEAKER_04: You're not he's not sitting on the bench for a long period of time.
[32:47] SPEAKER_04: I don't think that has anything to do with the backup center.
[32:48] SPEAKER_04: Now, yeah, Cornette is getting his ass tore.
[32:51] SPEAKER_04: But we you are playing against the Knicks.
[32:52] SPEAKER_04: You're playing against Kat.
[32:53] SPEAKER_01: Like you also, it's some of it's not even Lou Cornett's fault.
[32:57] SPEAKER_01: Where like when he is on the floor, just because his name is not Victor Wimbayama, everybody on the opposing team's eyes get seven times better.
[33:04] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and they just start.
[33:05] SPEAKER_02: It's like we gotta just go.
[33:06] SPEAKER_02: We just gotta go.
[33:07] SPEAKER_01: And sometimes he's contesting the basket really well, and it's just so happened that the shot goes in because it also is another great team on the other end.
[33:15] SPEAKER_01: Um, but I do think there are some team-building things, right?
[33:18] SPEAKER_01: If we talk about that OKC team that lost to Dallas in the second round, their first true true year of being great, they would now acquire Caruso and acquires at Hartenstein.
[33:27] SPEAKER_01: I don't know what the parallels for the Spurs of that will be.
[33:29] SPEAKER_01: Keldon Johnson got to step up and give them something.
[33:31] SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
[33:32] SPEAKER_01: So, like, there's some parts of that bench that can be for uh fortified, if you will.
[33:36] SPEAKER_01: So I they're right here.
[33:39] SPEAKER_00: The whole time we kind of mentioned about how they were in control of a lot of these games.
[33:43] SPEAKER_00: The you keep control you keep the ball and not turn it over and then you know toss it to Stefan Castle, you can win that game.
[33:50] SPEAKER_00: This same one where you were up 29, those are very winnable games.
[33:54] SPEAKER_00: It's it's really just like can you trim the edges for this team?
[33:58] SPEAKER_00: But it's getting back to the finals, which is the hardest thing.
[34:01] SPEAKER_01: What if I'm sorry, go ahead.
[34:02] SPEAKER_01: No, no.
[34:03] SPEAKER_01: I was gonna ask, what is the percentage we see a legendary comeback?
[34:07] SPEAKER_04: I mean, you definitely can't close the book fully, totally, in my opinion.
[34:11] SPEAKER_04: I'd do 20%.
[34:12] SPEAKER_04: That was my favorite thing about the Knicks, is all of them realize that yeah, we still it's still another as emotional of a game as that was, the high that it puts you in, you still gotta win another game.
[34:21] SPEAKER_04: And like you said, you're about to have two days break.
[34:24] SPEAKER_01: I think you got two days' break for the rest of the series between games now.
[34:27] SPEAKER_04: Right, because they're gonna keep flying back and forth.
[34:29] SPEAKER_04: Uh, two of the last three games is going to be in San Antonio.
[34:33] SPEAKER_04: And I've said it all all season long, and I'm not gonna not say it now because I'm a Knicks fan.
[34:38] SPEAKER_04: To me, the Spurs have been a truly incredible team when their back has been put against the wall.
[34:44] SPEAKER_04: Last night showed that.
[34:45] SPEAKER_04: I mean, we're going to talk about them blowing a lead, but for a team that had a job to do, they came out in that first half looking incredible.
[34:53] SPEAKER_04: They did the job.
[34:54] SPEAKER_04: It's like, and I know that's why they've lost things, but this team responds.
[34:58] SPEAKER_04: We've seen that against in the previous series against the Thunder.
[35:00] SPEAKER_04: They respond.
[35:01] SPEAKER_04: And so the Knicks are gonna have to come out and be sharp.
[35:03] SPEAKER_04: You cannot play any games with this team, and you damn sure don't want to play let's go to seven.
[35:09] SPEAKER_00: It's gotta be a full 48 minutes, though.
[35:12] SPEAKER_00: Full 48 minutes, and that's only one game at a time.
[35:14] SPEAKER_01: I think I'll put my percentage at like a 7% chance of a comeback.
[35:19] SPEAKER_00: I'm feeling the 20%.
[35:20] SPEAKER_00: They've been in control for a decent amount.
[35:22] SPEAKER_00: It's really just closing it out, which is tough to do against the Knicks, but they've been in control.
[35:25] SPEAKER_04: I'm more closer to you with the five to seven.
[35:28] SPEAKER_04: That loss was that that's a that's you're not even facing it.
[35:31] SPEAKER_04: You're facing 3-1 comeback and we blew a 30-point lead.
[35:34] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like you they won in their mind.
[35:36] SPEAKER_00: I don't see how you can think about the 30-point or the the 30-point blown lead and and also not the turnover.
[35:44] SPEAKER_00: Like both those feel like combined because you could have been up 3-1.
[35:46] SPEAKER_01: Yes.
[35:47] SPEAKER_01: Yes, you were.
[35:48] SPEAKER_01: So they really had to win six games in the series instead of four.
[35:51] SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's a lot, man.
[35:53] SPEAKER_01: That's a lot for a young team.
[35:55] SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're gonna take a another break, but when we come back, we got more numbers on the board.
[35:59] SPEAKER_01: Before we go any further, we want to say thank you to our partners over at DraftKings.
[36:02] SPEAKER_01: You know all about DraftKings pick six by now.
[36:04] SPEAKER_01: We pick more or less a different player stats for the upcoming games.
[36:07] SPEAKER_01: The NBA finals are winding down, but for every single game, we put together our own pick set.
[36:13] SPEAKER_01: The way we're doing is trying to find some of our favorite or least favorite players, looking at some stats like points, rebounds, assists, sometimes a combination.
[36:19] SPEAKER_01: Putting them into the pick set and deciding more or less.
[36:22] SPEAKER_01: I'll start off.
[36:23] SPEAKER_01: We got game five in a couple nights here, so we got the on the board a little bit early.
[36:29] SPEAKER_01: I looked at it and it's all on the defensive stats.
[36:31] SPEAKER_01: Stephon Castle steals at 0.5.5.
[36:36] SPEAKER_01: Sounded too good to be true.
[36:37] SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, that's why I'm going more on the Stephon Castle steals at 0.5.
[36:41] SPEAKER_01: Mike, you got his teammate.
[36:44] SPEAKER_01: Um Victor Womenyama.
[36:46] SPEAKER_01: 27 and a half points.
[36:48] SPEAKER_01: More.
[36:49] SPEAKER_00: Well, unlike you, I did not look at the board.
[36:52] SPEAKER_00: I just automatically assume Wimby.
[36:54] SPEAKER_00: I was gonna take Wimby regardless.
[36:56] SPEAKER_00: Because after the way last game went, that he he has to go off.
[37:01] SPEAKER_00: No matter what, huh?
[37:02] SPEAKER_00: Has to go off.
[37:04] SPEAKER_00: No matter what.
[37:06] SPEAKER_04: Wow.
[37:07] SPEAKER_04: Taking them no matter what.
[37:08] SPEAKER_04: I'm taking them more no matter what.
[37:10] SPEAKER_04: He's taking them regardless.
[37:12] SPEAKER_00: Do you want to ref just want to ref try to rephrase it?
[37:14] SPEAKER_00: I said I'm taking them more no matter what.
[37:15] SPEAKER_00: Taking them more.
[37:16] SPEAKER_00: Okay, there we go.
[37:17] SPEAKER_04: The more phrased it.
[37:18] SPEAKER_04: Oh, the more.
[37:20] SPEAKER_00: Yeah, don't put words in my mouth.
[37:21] SPEAKER_02: No, we we listened to you and repeated it.
[37:24] SPEAKER_04: You put another thing.
[37:25] SPEAKER_04: Never mind.
[37:26] SPEAKER_01: Derek Dylan Hart for 14 and a half points more.
[37:29] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, man.
[37:29] SPEAKER_02: Give me the franchise guard, man.
[37:31] SPEAKER_02: The future of this team.
[37:32] SPEAKER_02: The man who's gonna really be wearing this cape.
[37:35] SPEAKER_02: I'm even paying attention.
[37:36] SPEAKER_02: Um, and it was a bad pass.
[37:38] SPEAKER_02: He's not wrong.
[37:39] SPEAKER_02: It hit your hand.
[37:40] SPEAKER_02: No, I had to extend for that.
[37:41] SPEAKER_02: No, you didn't.
[37:42] SPEAKER_02: We have replay.
[37:43] SPEAKER_02: No, that pass was short.
[37:44] SPEAKER_02: Look, you're doing it in my knee.
[37:46] SPEAKER_02: Your knee big.
[37:47] SPEAKER_02: Okay, size it down.
[37:48] SPEAKER_02: You're looking like De'Aaron Fox.
[37:51] SPEAKER_02: We can trade.
[37:52] SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
[37:52] SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
[37:53] SPEAKER_02: Who's gonna trade for that contract?
[37:55] SPEAKER_02: I don't know, but this is why I'm taking the.
[37:57] SPEAKER_00: I don't like a big when you gotta put it all like exactly in his hands.
[38:00] SPEAKER_00: He don't got no.
[38:02] SPEAKER_04: What are you gonna do?
[38:03] SPEAKER_04: No reach.
[38:03] SPEAKER_04: What are you gonna do?
[38:04] SPEAKER_04: What are you gonna do, Big Food?
[38:05] SPEAKER_00: Let you down.
[38:08] SPEAKER_01: Lastly, Pierre, Landry Shamit, one and a half threes more.
[38:12] SPEAKER_04: Reunited and it feels so good.
[38:15] SPEAKER_04: We back on the roll, so he probably got his shot again.
[38:18] SPEAKER_04: He knows I'm saying Antonio Rams better than he knows MSG, and that's cool with me.
[38:22] SPEAKER_04: You can do a lot, can't do it for free.
[38:24] SPEAKER_01: Derek.
[38:25] SPEAKER_04: Just can't repeat.
[38:26] SPEAKER_04: Game three.
[38:27] SPEAKER_01: What's the line?
[38:28] SPEAKER_04: Uh Spurs minus one and a half.
[38:31] SPEAKER_04: Anyone else?
[38:32] SPEAKER_04: Knicks minus three and a half.
[38:34] SPEAKER_00: Knicks minus two and a half.
[38:36] SPEAKER_01: Spurs minus five and a half is a line.
[38:40] SPEAKER_01: They gotta know something, right?
[38:41] SPEAKER_01: What do they what could they know?
[38:43] SPEAKER_01: It didn't like nobody tweaked no ankles.
[38:44] SPEAKER_01: They know that they're desperate as hell.
[38:46] SPEAKER_04: And the Knicks probably want to win in the MSG, is what they're telling themselves.
[38:50] SPEAKER_04: But if you the Knicks, you win it wherever you can.
[38:52] SPEAKER_01: Please do.
[38:53] SPEAKER_01: That's a dangerous game to play.
[38:55] SPEAKER_01: Very dangerous game to play.
[38:56] SPEAKER_02: Because once you get the MSG, it's just you don't know what's gonna happen.
[38:59] SPEAKER_02: Well, you don't know what's gonna happen in San Antonio.
[39:01] SPEAKER_02: No, but you gotta take care of business in San Antonio first.
[39:04] SPEAKER_02: Don't look too far ahead.
[39:04] SPEAKER_02: For sure.
[39:06] SPEAKER_02: I don't like how you try to.
[39:08] SPEAKER_04: Sound like the pressure on the Knicks.
[39:09] SPEAKER_02: Yeah, who the pressure on?
[39:11] SPEAKER_02: The Spurs.
[39:12] SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll just make it sure.
[39:13] SPEAKER_02: Ain't no, I mean, if you're a 3-1, that pressure doesn't start creeping in until you lost game five.
[39:18] SPEAKER_02: And then you start to feel a little bit, and then it, you know, once you if you lose game six, now all the pressure's on you.
[39:24] SPEAKER_01: If you get to game seven, yeah, I think you do feel their press.
[39:28] SPEAKER_01: All right, we're gonna take another break, but we'll be back with more numbers on the board.
[39:33] SPEAKER_01: For those who haven't checked out DraftKings Pick Six yet, there's an exclusive offer waiting for you.
[39:37] SPEAKER_01: Right now, new DraftKings customers can play$5 and get$50 and pick six bonus picks.
[39:42] SPEAKER_01: All you have to do is download the Pick Six app and use promo code Enjoy when you sign up.
[39:46] SPEAKER_01: Pick six is available in most states, including Florida, Texas, and California.
[39:50] SPEAKER_01: So don't be afraid to get in on the action.
[39:52] SPEAKER_01: Right at the upside with Pick Six.
[39:56] SPEAKER_04: Hey man, before we go further, outside all of the Knicks love, gotta send some love to my pops.
[40:03] SPEAKER_04: The first person to call me last night, um, no, actually he texted me, which let me know that it was really important because he don't do no.
[40:10] SPEAKER_04: I don't know, y'all parents like that, like they're not my mom is a texter, but like my dad is not a texter.
[40:15] SPEAKER_04: My mom's a caller.
[40:16] SPEAKER_04: Yeah, my dad calls.
[40:17] SPEAKER_04: So when he texts, you know it's like, and he texts me, OG baby.
[40:22] SPEAKER_04: And then I called him, and yeah.
[40:23] SPEAKER_04: So happy birthday to Pops.
[40:25] SPEAKER_04: Happy birthday.
[40:26] SPEAKER_04: My my my dog enjoy it.
[40:28] SPEAKER_01: Um kind of like the nucleus to all of this part of the couch, if you think about it.
[40:31] SPEAKER_04: So pretty, pretty, pretty much.
[40:33] SPEAKER_04: Not the uncle.
[40:34] SPEAKER_04: Nothing like having a conversation with Pops.
[40:36] SPEAKER_04: Because he'll say something that just is just not like, nah, that's not that's not right.
[40:41] SPEAKER_04: But you know, I I love him, so I let him cook.
[40:43] SPEAKER_04: I mean, he'll he'll call a 40% three-point shooter.
[40:46] SPEAKER_04: Like, I don't know.
[40:50] SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
[40:50] SPEAKER_04: So it's shot, it's just shaky.
[40:52] SPEAKER_04: Like Pops, you know he made the league in three-point mates.
[40:57] SPEAKER_04: Alright! Nah, that's my that's my dog, though.
[41:00] SPEAKER_01: Shout out to him.
[41:02] SPEAKER_01: Um there's a ton of celebrities at game four of the NBA case.
[41:06] SPEAKER_01: You got a list?
[41:06] SPEAKER_01: I do have a list, but we're gonna blind rank them.
[41:08] SPEAKER_01: You don't know who.
[41:10] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[41:10] SPEAKER_04: Because I seen a lot.
[41:11] SPEAKER_01: Okay.
[41:12] SPEAKER_04: So you got a full list.
[41:13] SPEAKER_04: I have every single celebrity.
[41:14] SPEAKER_01: Some of these celebrities I've never heard of, but they celebrities.
[41:16] SPEAKER_04: So I saw Jerry Seinfield.
[41:18] SPEAKER_04: He was there.
[41:18] SPEAKER_04: I saw Fat Joe.
[41:19] SPEAKER_04: He was there.
[41:20] SPEAKER_04: Jerry Taylor Swift.
[41:21] SPEAKER_04: Taylor Swift.
[41:22] SPEAKER_04: Yep, she was there.
[41:22] SPEAKER_00: Ben Stiller.
[41:23] SPEAKER_02: Of course.
[41:24] SPEAKER_02: Stiller was there.
[41:24] SPEAKER_02: Haley Bieber.
[41:26] SPEAKER_02: But she was with Taylor Swift.
[41:28] SPEAKER_02: Right, and shirts.
[41:29] SPEAKER_01: No, that was the Heim sisters.
[41:31] SPEAKER_02: You're right.
[41:32] SPEAKER_04: Oh my bad.
