[0:33] Speaker 1: of Snuggle. My friend Vanessa a weights our company as
[0:39] Speaker 1: she'll be reading for today's story time. Our tail is
[0:44] Speaker 1: about a little gowl named Abigail and her very special
[0:49] Speaker 1: toy box. Inside her toy box are some of her dolls,
[0:56] Speaker 1: and she is going to have a tea party with them.
[1:01] Speaker 1: It's such a lovely thing to use our imaginations in
[1:05] Speaker 1: the very same way as Abigail, and I'm sure lots
[1:09] Speaker 1: of you Snuggle listeners have toys of your own that
[1:13] Speaker 1: you might enjoy a tea party with. Before we join
[1:19] Speaker 1: Abigail and her toys on their special day, find a
[1:24] Speaker 1: comfy spot to settle down and try making your body
[1:29] Speaker 1: as still and as quiet as possible. Then, when you're ready,
[1:40] Speaker 1: draw in a nice, big breath and slowly let it
[1:48] Speaker 1: back out. Nicely done. Now, let's meet Abigail at her home,
[2:00] Speaker 1: where she's about to play with her toys. This is
[2:06] Speaker 1: where our story begins.
[2:27] Speaker 2: Abigail is the keeper of many toys, and for that
[2:32] Speaker 2: reason and more, she feels very lucky. Her toys live
[2:39] Speaker 2: in a special box, and it's one of the most
[2:42] Speaker 2: treasured items she has in her bedroom. Her grandpa made
[2:49] Speaker 2: the toy box from wood and painted it a soft,
[2:53] Speaker 2: sunny yellow. Then he added pretty flowers and butterflies, just
[3:00] Speaker 2: like the ones Abigail loves. When the sun shines, it
[3:07] Speaker 2: sparkles on Abigail's toy box. The flowers and butterflies seem
[3:14] Speaker 2: to dance in the light, and Abigail thinks they love
[3:18] Speaker 2: the sun as much as she does. Today, Abigail is
[3:26] Speaker 2: curious to see what's inside her box. Sometimes her mommy
[3:33] Speaker 2: and daddy surprise her with new toys. It's always exciting
[3:38] Speaker 2: to find something new. The wooden lid creaks as Abigail
[3:46] Speaker 2: lifts it up. She has to stand on her tippy
[3:51] Speaker 2: toes to push the box all the way open. Her
[3:57] Speaker 2: bare feet sink into the soft rug beneath her. Inside
[4:04] Speaker 2: the box, there's a jumble of toys all stacked up.
[4:11] Speaker 2: Abigail grins at the site. She plays a fun game,
[4:17] Speaker 2: covering her eyes with one hand and reaching in with
[4:22] Speaker 2: the other to pick out a toy. As her hand
[4:28] Speaker 2: moves among the toys, she can feel clunky wooden blocks,
[4:34] Speaker 2: soft dolls, and plastic dinosaurs. She likes to play this
[4:41] Speaker 2: little game, sometimes never sure which toy she will grab.
[4:48] Speaker 2: It reminds her of the big claw machine game at
[4:52] Speaker 2: the grocery store. Abigail's mommy brings her to. Abigail's mommy's
[5:00] Speaker 2: sometimes puts a couple of coins into that machine full
[5:05] Speaker 2: of cuddly toys. Then there is a metal claw that
[5:11] Speaker 2: moves across the inside of the machine. Abigail and her
[5:16] Speaker 2: mommy move the claw around in hopes of winning something wonderful.
[5:24] Speaker 2: Sometimes they are lucky enough to win and the claw
[5:29] Speaker 2: picks up a plush bear. But sometimes the bear slips
[5:35] Speaker 2: through and her mommy lets her try again. Of course,
[5:42] Speaker 2: they celebrate when they win a toy. Abigail knows she
[5:48] Speaker 2: can only play the fun claw game if she's finished
[5:52] Speaker 2: all her chores. Luckily, she is great at doing her chores.
[6:02] Speaker 2: Soon enough, Abigail pulls her hand from her toy box,
[6:08] Speaker 2: opens her eyes, and lets out a happy giggle. Of course,
[6:15] Speaker 2: it's one of her favorite dolls. She calls her Lucy.
[6:23] Speaker 2: Lucy has red hair made of yarn that is separated
[6:27] Speaker 2: into two braids on either side of her head. She
[6:33] Speaker 2: has green eyes and freckles on her cheeks. Lucy also
[6:40] Speaker 2: wears a simple cloth dress in a light shade of green.
[6:47] Speaker 2: Abigail places the doll on the soft rainbow rug just
[6:52] Speaker 2: next to her toy box. She loves this colorful rug,
[7:00] Speaker 2: likes how everything matches it because of the rug's pretty colors.
[7:07] Speaker 2: Of course, Abigail has other dolls to play with alongside Lucy.
[7:14] Speaker 2: Her most favorite doll, Susie, goes just about everywhere with Abigail,
[7:23] Speaker 2: and when they are not together, Susie is usually resting
[7:28] Speaker 2: on Abigail's bed. Abigail carefully walks across the rainbow rug
[7:37] Speaker 2: towards her bed. It's the perfect size bed for little
[7:42] Speaker 2: girls like her. She stretches her arms across the bed
[7:49] Speaker 2: and grabs hold of Susie. Susie looks similar to Lucy.
[7:58] Speaker 2: They are both soft doll made of cotton material, but
[8:03] Speaker 2: Susie has been with Abigail since she turned two. The
[8:09] Speaker 2: other main difference is that Susie has long brown hair
[8:14] Speaker 2: and big blue eyes compared to Lucy's red hair and
[8:19] Speaker 2: green eyes. Susie has been one of Abigail's favorite toys
[8:26] Speaker 2: since she opened presents on her second birthday. Now she
[8:33] Speaker 2: may be a couple of years older, but her love
[8:37] Speaker 2: for Susie keeps growing, much like Abigail herself does. Abigail
[8:46] Speaker 2: now has both of the dolls in the center of
[8:49] Speaker 2: the rug. The two of them sit together on the
[8:54] Speaker 2: yellow part of the rainbow. Their faces smile up at
[9:00] Speaker 2: Abigail and she hugs each of them with her best
[9:04] Speaker 2: happy face. On Next to the rug, Abigail has a
[9:10] Speaker 2: small table and chairs. They are perfect for a tea party.
[9:19] Speaker 2: Abigail takes her two dolls, Lucy and Susie over to
[9:24] Speaker 2: the table. It is a circular wooden table painted the
[9:31] Speaker 2: same color yellow as her toy box. The chairs are
[9:37] Speaker 2: all different colors. It was made by her grandpa when
[9:44] Speaker 2: she was very young, just like her special toy box.
[9:51] Speaker 2: Abigail loves her Grandpa and she is very grateful for
[9:56] Speaker 2: all his generous gifts. She places Lucy in a blue chair,
[10:05] Speaker 2: then she places Susie in a green chair. Abigail can
[10:12] Speaker 2: see that there are two more seats open at the table.
[10:17] Speaker 2: One seat is for Abigail, but who will sit in
[10:21] Speaker 2: the other chair? And then Abigail's mommy taps on her
[10:27] Speaker 2: bedroom door, pokes her head in, and says hello. She
[10:34] Speaker 2: sees that Abigail is making up the table for what
[10:38] Speaker 2: looks to be a tea party. There is a cloth
[10:44] Speaker 2: in her hand and Abigail is trying her best to
[10:48] Speaker 2: spread it across the table. Mommy comes over and helps
[10:55] Speaker 2: Abigail adjust the pink and white colored tablecloth. Mommy then
[11:01] Speaker 2: asks if she can join her tea party. Abigail smiles yes, mommy,
[11:09] Speaker 2: She says, Now, Abigail must find her teapot and cups.
[11:18] Speaker 2: They must be here in her toy box. She walks
[11:23] Speaker 2: across the soft rug again and reaches back into her
[11:28] Speaker 2: special toy box, but this time she keeps her eyes open.
[11:36] Speaker 2: Abigail quickly sees her beautiful teapot. It is a small
[11:44] Speaker 2: metal pot painted pink with colorful flowers all over it.
[11:52] Speaker 2: With the teapot in one hand, Abigail uses her other
[11:57] Speaker 2: hand to pull out four separate tea cups. Each one
[12:03] Speaker 2: is pink with a different flower painted on top. Abigail's
[12:09] Speaker 2: favorite is the one with a white daisy on it.
[12:16] Speaker 2: So She walks back across her bedroom to the table
[12:20] Speaker 2: and chairs and places that cup in front of her spot.
[12:27] Speaker 2: Abigail shows her mommy the cups and asks her to
[12:32] Speaker 2: choose her favorite. Mommy picks out the cup with a
[12:38] Speaker 2: beautiful sunflower painted on it. Abigail claps in the light.
[12:47] Speaker 2: She gives the other two cups from her toy box
[12:50] Speaker 2: to Susie and Lucy. Susie gets one with red roses
[12:57] Speaker 2: on it, and Lucy as the one with dark pink tulips.
[13:05] Speaker 2: Abigail loves how the flowers on her teacups match the
[13:10] Speaker 2: ones on her toy box. She smiles, now understanding that
[13:17] Speaker 2: her grandpa painted these cups too. The table is now
[13:25] Speaker 2: set for a tea party for four. Abigail's mommy is
[13:32] Speaker 2: still standing, though, so Abigail pulls the chair out for
[13:38] Speaker 2: her and tells her to sit down please. She does
[13:45] Speaker 2: as Abigail asks, taking a seat with a happy expression
[13:51] Speaker 2: on her face. The teapot sits in the center of
[13:57] Speaker 2: the table. Abigail asks her mommy if she would like
[14:03] Speaker 2: some tea. Mommy says yes, please, so Abigail lifts the
[14:11] Speaker 2: pot and pours the imaginary tea into the cup. Abigail
[14:20] Speaker 2: imagines steam rising from the cup, just like her mommy's
[14:26] Speaker 2: morning coffee. Then Abigail asks Susie if she would like
[14:34] Speaker 2: some tea. She says yes, so Abigail pours some tea
[14:41] Speaker 2: into her cup with red roses on the side. Finally,
[14:49] Speaker 2: she asks Lucy if she would like some tea. As
[14:54] Speaker 2: Abigail expected, she also says yes. Abigail fills her cup
[15:03] Speaker 2: up and gives her doll a big smile. But then
[15:10] Speaker 2: Abigail's mommy tells her that something is missing. Abigail looks
[15:18] Speaker 2: up at her, not sure what could have been forgotten.
[15:24] Speaker 2: Mommy asks to be excused for just one moment, please.
[15:32] Speaker 2: She leaves the bedroom, and Abigail can hear her feet
[15:37] Speaker 2: tap against the wooden floor of the hallway. Just a
[15:43] Speaker 2: moment later, as mommy said, she returns to the bedroom
[15:50] Speaker 2: with a plate of yummy biscuits. She tells Abigail that
[15:57] Speaker 2: they simply cannot have a tea party without biscuits. Mommy
[16:05] Speaker 2: serves a biscuit to Abigail, then to Lucy, followed by Susie. Finally,
[16:15] Speaker 2: she places a biscuit in front of her chair and
[16:19] Speaker 2: takes a seat. The four enjoy a cozy tea party
[16:27] Speaker 2: in Abigail's bedroom. It has been the perfect afternoon with
[16:36] Speaker 2: her favorite dolls, her beautiful toy box, and her loving mommy. Soon,
[16:47] Speaker 2: Abigail will get very sleepy. She will need a nap
[16:55] Speaker 2: to refresh her energy for the rest of the day. Luckily,
[17:02] Speaker 2: her mommy will read her a bedtime story after the
[17:06] Speaker 2: tea party. This will help her settle into her comfortable
[17:13] Speaker 2: bed and fall fast asleep. And just like that, Abigail
[17:24] Speaker 2: let's out a yawn, almost ready for her little naps
[18:19] Speaker 1: In the
