[0:29] Speaker 1: I'm so glad you've joined me for story time. Whether
[0:34] Speaker 1: it's for a nap, for bedtime, or just for fun.
[0:38] Speaker 1: This is my favorite part of the day, and I
[0:42] Speaker 1: hope you love it just as much as I do.
[0:46] Speaker 1: Nadine will be guiding us on our sleepy journey today.
[0:50] Speaker 1: She'll help you travel comfortably in your dreams. As you
[0:55] Speaker 1: enjoy this meditative exploration of space, you'll imagine being an astronaut. Wow,
[1:05] Speaker 1: what an awesome thing that will be to imagine. I
[1:08] Speaker 1: know a lot of kids dream of being an astronaut
[1:11] Speaker 1: when they grow up, so maybe this will add to
[1:15] Speaker 1: that inspiration for some of you. Before we left off,
[1:21] Speaker 1: take your time to get comfortable, and once you do,
[1:28] Speaker 1: slowly close your eyes. Let's take a deep breath in
[1:35] Speaker 1: through your nose and all the way out through your mouth.
[1:46] Speaker 1: Every time you breathe in, imagine you're filling up your
[1:50] Speaker 1: body with all the activity and excitement from the day.
[1:57] Speaker 1: And letting all of those feelings and thoughts to leave
[2:01] Speaker 1: as you breathe out. Now we're all snug and relaxed,
[2:11] Speaker 1: and we're ready to begin our story. So I'll make
[2:15] Speaker 1: way for my friend and Nadan. I really hope you
[2:20] Speaker 1: enjoy listening.
[2:37] Speaker 2: Imagine that you're waking up in your very own dream world.
[2:44] Speaker 2: You're standing on peaceful planet Earth. It's nighttime, and high
[2:53] Speaker 2: up above you is the dark, star filled sky.
[3:00] Speaker 3: Feels fresh and clean.
[3:03] Speaker 2: As you take in a deep, calming breath, you can
[3:09] Speaker 2: smell pine from the trees and the sweet drops of
[3:14] Speaker 2: dew on the blades of grass below your feet. All
[3:20] Speaker 2: around you can hear crickets chirping quietly amongst wildflowers and ferns,
[3:28] Speaker 2: owls hiding amongst trees, hooting softly to their friends, and
[3:36] Speaker 2: the wind whispering a breathy tune. All the noises combine
[3:43] Speaker 2: into a soothing lullaby, which brings you a deeper sense
[3:49] Speaker 2: of calm.
[3:52] Speaker 3: When you look up, you.
[3:54] Speaker 2: Notice that as far as the eye can see is space,
[4:02] Speaker 2: beautiful and deep and twinkling with stars. It surrounds the
[4:09] Speaker 2: planet on all sides, wrapping you up cozy and safe
[4:16] Speaker 2: like a lovely soft blanket. With each deep breath, you
[4:24] Speaker 2: begin to feel as light as a feather, as if.
[4:29] Speaker 3: You are floating up in a hot air balloon.
[4:35] Speaker 2: You look down to your feet and watch as they
[4:39] Speaker 2: leave the ground. To your amazement, you begin to gently
[4:46] Speaker 2: float slowly upwards. First you pass the bushes and shrubs.
[4:56] Speaker 2: Then you continue rising up higher and the tall green trees,
[5:03] Speaker 2: higher than swooping owls.
[5:06] Speaker 3: With orange eyes.
[5:10] Speaker 2: You pass through the wispy night clouds, feeling a light
[5:15] Speaker 2: drop of rain as you float by. Before long, you
[5:23] Speaker 2: reach the top of the highest, puffiest cloud, and the
[5:29] Speaker 2: world reveals itself how beautiful it is here above the clouds.
[5:39] Speaker 2: You soak in this amazing sight. There's almost too much
[5:46] Speaker 2: to look at, big blue oceans, towering mountains, rushing rivers,
[5:55] Speaker 2: and dark green forests. You gently shake away the raindrops,
[6:04] Speaker 2: but when you look at your hands, you notice you
[6:08] Speaker 2: are wearing white gloves. Looking down at your body, you
[6:15] Speaker 2: can see you're wearing a full white suit and a
[6:19] Speaker 2: helmet too. You still feel light as a feather and
[6:25] Speaker 2: content as you float higher and higher.
[6:31] Speaker 3: What's going on? You wonder?
[6:35] Speaker 2: It feels like you will float upwards forever, and what
[6:39] Speaker 2: is this white suit. But as you continue floating up,
[6:46] Speaker 2: the stars and planets come into view. Now you understand
[6:54] Speaker 2: you are an astronaut. You are ready to explore the
[6:59] Speaker 2: Cosmo and all of its wonders. How amazing. You begin
[7:08] Speaker 2: to swim through the air with no effort at all,
[7:13] Speaker 2: gracefully and silently, so happy to be in this special place,
[7:19] Speaker 2: in this special moment. Meteors and comets travel past you
[7:25] Speaker 2: in groups, big rock formations floating through space. You swim
[7:34] Speaker 2: through them, doing slow motions, summersaults and roly poly's through
[7:39] Speaker 2: the gaps like the world's most elegant acrobat astronaut. Some
[7:48] Speaker 2: rocks float close by, so you reach out and push
[7:53] Speaker 2: them away with your hand.
[7:55] Speaker 3: They aren't heavy at all.
[7:58] Speaker 2: They bounce away from your hand and as easily as bubbles.
[8:04] Speaker 2: Everything is as light as air. Floating along further, you
[8:14] Speaker 2: see a magnificent bright light. It is mesmerizing. You can't
[8:22] Speaker 2: take your eyes off it, so you decide to travel
[8:27] Speaker 2: towards it. It's a sparkling, twinkling star, gleaming fantastically, wanting
[8:37] Speaker 2: to be touched. It's the brightest and biggest star you've
[8:43] Speaker 2: ever seen. When you reach this star, you hold out
[8:50] Speaker 2: your hands and cup it between them. It dances and
[8:56] Speaker 2: shimmers between your fingers. Jewel in the sky. How amazing,
[9:04] Speaker 2: you think to yourself. It is as though you are
[9:09] Speaker 2: holding your very own pet star in your hands in
[9:14] Speaker 2: this moment.
[9:17] Speaker 3: The twinkling star lingers in.
[9:20] Speaker 2: Your hands for just a few seconds, enchanting you, before
[9:26] Speaker 2: shooting off in a glittering stream and exploding like an
[9:32] Speaker 2: extraordinary diamond firework in the distance. Why don't you make
[9:40] Speaker 2: a wish on your own personal shooting star, hm. You
[9:47] Speaker 2: wonder what to wish for, and then it comes to you,
[9:54] Speaker 2: your deepest and most precious wish. Close your eyes, breathe
[10:02] Speaker 2: deeply and gently, and think of what you wish for
[10:08] Speaker 2: most in the world. You focus on that thing for
[10:14] Speaker 2: a few seconds. When you open your eyes, you smile
[10:22] Speaker 2: at the thought of your very own wish coming true
[10:26] Speaker 2: in the future. Suddenly, more and more stars appear into view,
[10:35] Speaker 2: like thousands of fireflies, big and small, different shapes, sizes,
[10:43] Speaker 2: and colors. Some shine more brightly than others. They flicker
[10:50] Speaker 2: against a stunning dark background. It looks just like a
[10:57] Speaker 2: watercolor painting, and it is the most amazing sight you've
[11:03] Speaker 2: ever seen.
[11:07] Speaker 3: Before you stars across the whole.
[11:10] Speaker 2: Sky are shimmering and glittering like their friend, the shooting star,
[11:17] Speaker 2: and begin dancing a special cosmic dance just for you.
[11:25] Speaker 2: The other stars begin to follow their friend, cascading and
[11:31] Speaker 2: flowing across the sky like a magical river in space,
[11:38] Speaker 2: then bursting and glittering at the end. The sight before
[11:44] Speaker 2: you seems more like a movie than real life. You
[11:49] Speaker 2: can hardly believe your eyes. You feel so happy to
[11:56] Speaker 2: be able to see and enjoy this wonderful sight. You
[12:02] Speaker 2: look around you for a minute, taking in the amazing surroundings,
[12:08] Speaker 2: taking deep breaths in and out, and feeling so lucky
[12:15] Speaker 2: to be right here, right in the very moment. Has
[12:21] Speaker 2: anyone else experienced this magical site?
[12:25] Speaker 3: You wonder.
[12:28] Speaker 2: You are floating in a vast expanse of space, but
[12:33] Speaker 2: it's not scary. You feel welcome and safe here. You
[12:40] Speaker 2: realize that there are no worries and nothing to bother
[12:45] Speaker 2: you during your space journey. This is your own personal experience,
[12:53] Speaker 2: made for you by you. You look around and once
[13:00] Speaker 2: more wondering to yourself, Hmm, what else can I discover?
[13:08] Speaker 2: What else can I see in this wonderful place? You
[13:14] Speaker 2: look ahead and into the distance, you can see lots
[13:19] Speaker 2: of planets, Mars giant and red, Jupiter and its many moons,
[13:30] Speaker 2: Saturn and its rings, such colors and shapes, the likes
[13:38] Speaker 2: of which you have never seen before. Swimming through space
[13:47] Speaker 2: like a fish in the sea, you arrive at Mars,
[13:52] Speaker 2: dusty and colored a deep red. You float down to
[13:57] Speaker 2: explore its barren surface. Yes, but wait, what's that over there?
[14:07] Speaker 2: It's not barren at all. You can see and hear
[14:11] Speaker 2: a movement and little chirping voices. From behind a large rock,
[14:20] Speaker 2: Three little creatures emerge.
[14:24] Speaker 3: What can they be?
[14:26] Speaker 2: On closer inspection, you see that these creatures are not
[14:32] Speaker 2: much taller than your knee, and that they are trotting
[14:35] Speaker 2: towards you, smiling. They have fuzzy feelers on their heads
[14:42] Speaker 2: that bounce cheerfully as they move. You feel a little shocked,
[14:50] Speaker 2: but you aren't scared, as these creatures are little, orange
[14:57] Speaker 2: and very, very fluffy. If you could imagine a perfect pet,
[15:06] Speaker 2: it would be one of these little animals. You realize
[15:11] Speaker 2: in amazement that these creatures must actually be Aliens. These
[15:21] Speaker 2: cute beings have one big cartoon eye framed with fluffy eyelashes.
[15:30] Speaker 3: On their body.
[15:31] Speaker 2: They have two arms and four legs, but they still
[15:37] Speaker 2: walk upright, just like human beings. How strange greetings eartling,
[15:46] Speaker 2: they chime together. They seem so happy to have met
[15:51] Speaker 2: a new companion on their planet. Hello, little aliens, you reply.
[15:57] Speaker 2: As they approach. The aliens introduce themselves and explain that
[16:04] Speaker 2: they are friendly beings who love the company of others.
[16:10] Speaker 2: They have heard of human beings before, but have never
[16:14] Speaker 2: had the pleasure to meet one in real life. They
[16:19] Speaker 2: are such happy and excitable little creatures, so you decide
[16:24] Speaker 2: to see what their life is like. You spend some
[16:29] Speaker 2: time chatting and giggling with your new friends, playing floating
[16:35] Speaker 2: hopscotch and drawing big pictures on the dusty Martian floor.
[16:43] Speaker 2: They tell you all about their life on Mars, about
[16:48] Speaker 2: how they live underground where it's cooler, and how their
[16:52] Speaker 2: fluffy hair keeps the dust off their bodies. It's a
[16:57] Speaker 2: rather clever adaptation, but requires a lot of brushing to
[17:02] Speaker 2: keep clean, they say. When the time comes to go,
[17:08] Speaker 2: your new friends wave goodbye. They ask you to come
[17:13] Speaker 2: back soon. You promise you will, which causes their antennas
[17:20] Speaker 2: to glow bright with happiness.
[17:24] Speaker 3: You take a.
[17:25] Speaker 2: Big, deep breath in and begin to float away high
[17:32] Speaker 2: into the atmosphere, waving down to your remarkable new friends
[17:39] Speaker 2: as you saw off into space. Next, you travel to
[17:46] Speaker 2: Jupiter and jump between its many moons, like stepping stones
[17:53] Speaker 2: over a river of shooting stars. You leap from the
[17:59] Speaker 2: final moon, the biggest leap you have ever made, flying
[18:05] Speaker 2: through the air like a feather, and land on Saturn's rings.
[18:12] Speaker 2: Sitting down with a soft bomb, You slide happily around
[18:18] Speaker 2: the rings, just like a water slide. Round and round
[18:24] Speaker 2: you go, watching the giant gas planet spinning around as
[18:30] Speaker 2: you circle it. After a few rotations, you slow down
[18:37] Speaker 2: and look to the right. There off in the distance
[18:44] Speaker 2: is a large vibrant yellow circle, glowing silently and peacefully.
[18:55] Speaker 2: Interested by its beauty and warming glow, jump from the
[19:00] Speaker 2: swirling rings and fly towards the yellow orb. As you
[19:08] Speaker 2: move closer, you can see vast craters on its surface.
[19:15] Speaker 2: It almost looks like cheese. You wonder what it could be.
[19:23] Speaker 2: You move closer still until you gently float onto the surface.
[19:31] Speaker 2: You try to take a step forward and bounce high
[19:36] Speaker 2: off the ground. This planet is like a giant trampoline.
[19:43] Speaker 2: You float down gracefully and bounce again, what fun. After
[19:52] Speaker 2: exploring a little, you notice the ground underneath you is
[19:57] Speaker 2: dry and flat. It feels rocky and crumbly. Each time
[20:06] Speaker 2: you land from a bouncing step, dust rises from the
[20:11] Speaker 2: surface and begins to float up into space. If it
[20:17] Speaker 2: looks and feels like this, it can't be cheese. It
[20:23] Speaker 2: certainly doesn't smell like cheese.
[20:26] Speaker 3: What is it, you wonder?
[20:29] Speaker 2: Hmm, it looks like something you have seen from your
[20:34] Speaker 2: bedroom window many times, and then you realize it must
[20:42] Speaker 2: be the Moon. As you explore the beautiful Moon up close,
[20:48] Speaker 2: something catches your eye. It is a shimmering blue and
[20:55] Speaker 2: green planet, so colorful against the black backdrop of space.
[21:04] Speaker 3: It seems to.
[21:06] Speaker 2: Call out to you, Although you are unsure why. The
[21:11] Speaker 2: colors on this planet are as bright as sapphire and jade.
[21:17] Speaker 3: It looks familiar.
[21:20] Speaker 2: Then you realize that this is actually planet Earth, your
[21:27] Speaker 2: home and where the people you love are. You gently
[21:34] Speaker 2: sit down on the Moon's surface and watch as Planet
[21:39] Speaker 2: Earth slowly rotates. Even this far away, you can see
[21:48] Speaker 2: large swathes of rainforest, sandy deserts, and gray snow capped
[21:56] Speaker 2: mountains standing proudly taller than everything else. Huge areas of
[22:07] Speaker 2: snow and ice cover the north and South poles. You
[22:13] Speaker 2: see the continents clearly broken up by masses.
[22:18] Speaker 3: Of blue sea.
[22:22] Speaker 2: The fact that you are so far away makes you
[22:26] Speaker 2: appreciate your home more than you ever knew. You smile
[22:33] Speaker 2: and sigh, grateful to be an inhabitant of such a
[22:38] Speaker 2: welcoming planet. Golden, warm rays of light beam past you,
[22:48] Speaker 2: lighting the Earth as it rotates and turning each surface
[22:53] Speaker 2: it touches into a new morning. You can see the
[23:01] Speaker 2: rays coming from the Sun a long ways away. The
[23:08] Speaker 2: Sun smiles at you and gives a little wink. You
[23:13] Speaker 2: smile back and feel content, thinking about your fantastic voyage
[23:20] Speaker 2: and all the wonders you have seen as an astronaut.
[23:27] Speaker 2: You can see your home from here about to enter
[23:31] Speaker 2: the night time. The Sun begins to lose its reach
[23:37] Speaker 2: on this part of the Earth, allowing the other side
[23:41] Speaker 2: of the planet to enjoy another day. You've seen a
[23:47] Speaker 2: lot on this dreamy adventure. Now that night is falling
[23:53] Speaker 2: on your home, perhaps it's time you go back and
[23:57] Speaker 2: get some rest too. Feeling calm and peaceful from this
[24:04] Speaker 2: remarkable journey, you slowly float back to your home planet Earth.
[24:15] Speaker 2: You drift back down through the clouds, to your country,
[24:24] Speaker 2: to your town, and into your home. Until you are
[24:31] Speaker 2: in your very own cozy bed. You yawn and stretch
[24:41] Speaker 2: like you tacked ready for slumber. Laying back slowly, you
[24:50] Speaker 2: take one last look at the twinkling stars through your
[24:54] Speaker 2: window and feel grateful for the magical exp variance you
[25:01] Speaker 2: just had in space. The planets, the moon, the stars,
[25:10] Speaker 2: the rings of Saturn, and the cheerful creatures of Mars
[25:16] Speaker 2: are all wishing you a good night. You smile and
[25:25] Speaker 2: close your eyes, drifting into a deep, peaceful sleep, filled
[25:34] Speaker 2: with dreams of the magical place called outer space.
