[0:38] Speaker 1: because the one you'll be hearing in this episode is
[0:42] Speaker 1: full of wonder and amazement. It's a story about a
[0:47] Speaker 1: little boy named Francis who can never seem to remember
[0:51] Speaker 1: his dreams, but luckily he gets some help from a
[0:56] Speaker 1: magical lady called the dream tell And I'm delighted to
[1:02] Speaker 1: say that our good friend Jessica is here to read
[1:06] Speaker 1: it for us. She's only been on the show once before,
[1:11] Speaker 1: when she read the Sleepy Tale of Timu Mass, but
[1:16] Speaker 1: she can't wait to tell you another cozy story in
[1:20] Speaker 1: just a moment. So make sure you're nice and comfortable
[1:26] Speaker 1: wherever you're resting. If you're in bed, then get snug
[1:32] Speaker 1: under the covers, or if you're just listening on a
[1:37] Speaker 1: comfy chair or sofa, then enjoy the support you feel
[1:42] Speaker 1: from the surface below. You take a deep breath in
[1:48] Speaker 1: through your nose and then gently out through your mouth.
[1:59] Speaker 1: Well done. Now there's only one thing left to do.
[2:06] Speaker 1: It's time to listen to our story about the dream teller.
[2:30] Speaker 2: Once upon a time, in a tiny little town there
[2:34] Speaker 2: lived a boy called Francis. He was very kind and
[2:40] Speaker 2: very sweet, and sometimes he thought about things a little
[2:45] Speaker 2: too much. One day he was with his friends. They
[2:52] Speaker 2: were talking about their dreams at night. They talked about
[2:57] Speaker 2: dreams where they could fly, dreams where they became animals,
[3:03] Speaker 2: or dreams where they met birds that could talk. They
[3:08] Speaker 2: had dreams about magical lands and places that didn't exist.
[3:15] Speaker 2: Every dream they talked about sounded like a wonderful, bright adventure.
[3:23] Speaker 2: But Francis couldn't join in. You see, Francis never remembered
[3:28] Speaker 2: his dreams. He didn't know what it was like to
[3:32] Speaker 2: dream of flying. He had no idea what it would
[3:37] Speaker 2: be like to meet a bird that could talk. No
[3:41] Speaker 2: matter how hard he tried, he couldn't work out how
[3:45] Speaker 2: to see a place that didn't exist. Francis wondered if
[3:51] Speaker 2: maybe something was wrong, maybe the bit inside him for
[3:56] Speaker 2: dreaming didn't work well. Maybe he had forgotten how to
[4:02] Speaker 2: remember dreams. His friends were talking about dreams where they
[4:07] Speaker 2: got magical powers. When they realized Francis hadn't said anything,
[4:14] Speaker 2: they asked him what he thought about his dreams, but
[4:19] Speaker 2: of course he couldn't remember any. Francis didn't want them
[4:24] Speaker 2: to think he was strange, so he told them that
[4:29] Speaker 2: he was feeling tired and wanted to go home. On
[4:34] Speaker 2: the way home, Francis walked through the park. He looked
[4:40] Speaker 2: up at the wide, beautiful sky. It was pale blue
[4:46] Speaker 2: with white, fluffy clouds. The sun was starting to go down,
[4:53] Speaker 2: so the horizon was yellow and pink, and the bottom
[4:58] Speaker 2: of each cloud was a little bit orange. He took
[5:04] Speaker 2: a deep breath in and listened to the sound of
[5:08] Speaker 2: the birds. They were singing an evening song. He looked
[5:16] Speaker 2: at the sky and wished with all his heart to
[5:20] Speaker 2: be able to remember his dreams. Then he kept walking.
[5:27] Speaker 2: He went through the park gates and down the narrow
[5:31] Speaker 2: stone street that led to the small woods. The small
[5:37] Speaker 2: words were like the name suggests, small. All the trees
[5:44] Speaker 2: were slim and short, and no one really knew why
[5:50] Speaker 2: Francis loved to walk through them and pretend that he
[5:54] Speaker 2: was a giant. So that's what Francis started to do.
[5:59] Speaker 2: That evening. Maybe he thought it would distract him from
[6:05] Speaker 2: thinking about dreams. He crashed through the fallen leaves and
[6:12] Speaker 2: listened to the crunch of the ground as he walked.
[6:17] Speaker 2: In the background was the gurgling sound of a stream.
[6:24] Speaker 2: Francis stomped towards it. The water was clear and smooth.
[6:30] Speaker 2: He could see the reflections of the trees and the
[6:33] Speaker 2: pink sunset sky. As soon as Francis saw the sky,
[6:40] Speaker 2: he remembered all about the fact that he didn't remember
[6:43] Speaker 2: his dreams. He picked up a stone from the ground.
[6:50] Speaker 2: It was cold and hard, with one jagged edge. He
[6:55] Speaker 2: threw it into the stream with all his might and
[6:58] Speaker 2: wished to be a to remember his dreams. Then Francis
[7:04] Speaker 2: carried on through the woods. He followed the stream because
[7:10] Speaker 2: he knew it would take him to his house. It
[7:14] Speaker 2: wound through the woods until there were no more words.
[7:20] Speaker 2: Then it trickled out into a big field of wheat.
[7:26] Speaker 2: Francis held out his hand so that his fingers could
[7:29] Speaker 2: touch the top of the wheat. It felt warm and scratchy.
[7:37] Speaker 2: Then the shape of Francis's house appeared. He hurried towards
[7:43] Speaker 2: it because the sun was going down fast. The air
[7:48] Speaker 2: smelt of wheat and something delicious. His mum must be
[7:54] Speaker 2: cooking something for dinner. Sure enough, when Francis walked through
[8:01] Speaker 2: his front door, his mom was pulling his favorite food
[8:05] Speaker 2: out of the oven. Francis washed his hands and sat
[8:11] Speaker 2: down with his family. He was just about to eat
[8:15] Speaker 2: the first bite when he remembered his problem with dreams.
[8:21] Speaker 2: He wished again with all his might to be able
[8:26] Speaker 2: to remember his dreams. Then he ate his delicious dinner.
[8:34] Speaker 2: The rest of Francis's evening passed normally. He helped his
[8:39] Speaker 2: dad clean up from dinner, played a game with his sister,
[8:43] Speaker 2: and walked the dog with his mum. But when he
[8:48] Speaker 2: went upstairs to bed, something very not normal happened. There.
[8:56] Speaker 2: Sitting on his window sill was a very small lace.
[9:02] Speaker 2: She had dark, curly hair and a big, kind smile.
[9:09] Speaker 2: Her clothes were colorful and glittery. In one hand, she
[9:15] Speaker 2: carried a tiny red and yellow suitcase. Francis immediately asked
[9:23] Speaker 2: who she was and what she was doing. The lady laughed.
[9:30] Speaker 2: She told him that she was called the dream Teller,
[9:34] Speaker 2: and she had come to tell him his dreams. Francis
[9:39] Speaker 2: was so surprised that he didn't say anything for a
[9:43] Speaker 2: few moments. She explained that her job was to record
[9:48] Speaker 2: all the dreams that never get remembered. It was important
[9:54] Speaker 2: work because sometimes people really do need to remember their dreams.
[10:01] Speaker 2: When a person needs to remember, all they have to
[10:04] Speaker 2: do is make three strong wishes and the dream teller
[10:08] Speaker 2: will come now. Francis was good at thinking. He thought
[10:15] Speaker 2: about what she had said, and he saw a problem.
[10:20] Speaker 2: He asked her where she kept all the dreams that
[10:22] Speaker 2: never got remembered. There must be millions and millions of
[10:29] Speaker 2: dreams that don't get remembered every night. The dream teller laughed.
[10:35] Speaker 2: Then she showed him her suitcase. Francis looked at it.
[10:42] Speaker 2: There was no way that the dreams could all be
[10:44] Speaker 2: in that tiny bag, he thought. But the dream teller
[10:50] Speaker 2: laid the suitcase down on Francis's bedroom floor and opened it.
[10:56] Speaker 2: All of a sudden, a huge purple and blue tent
[11:01] Speaker 2: irrupted out of the suitcase. It was so big that
[11:07] Speaker 2: it only just fit inside the room. Its sides even
[11:13] Speaker 2: got a bit squashed by Francis's bookshelf and wardrobe. But
[11:19] Speaker 2: the dream teller didn't seem to worry. She opened up
[11:25] Speaker 2: the front flap and walked inside. Not knowing what else
[11:31] Speaker 2: to do. Francis followed her, and when he got inside,
[11:37] Speaker 2: his jaw dropped. The walls and ceiling of the tent
[11:43] Speaker 2: looked just like a galaxy of stars, but they didn't
[11:49] Speaker 2: stay still. They shimmered and shined and swirled. Francis felt
[11:57] Speaker 2: like he was looking at the real night sky. In
[12:03] Speaker 2: the center of the tent was a round golden table,
[12:07] Speaker 2: and on top of the table was a big, clear
[12:11] Speaker 2: crystal ball. The dream teller brought Francis to the ball.
[12:18] Speaker 2: She looked up at the stars around them and called
[12:21] Speaker 2: Francis's name. The stars all started swirling, until one star
[12:29] Speaker 2: popped out of the wall and floated into the crystal ball.
[12:35] Speaker 2: As soon as the star touched the ball, images filled
[12:40] Speaker 2: it up. Francis peered inside. They were like little movies,
[12:49] Speaker 2: and all of them had one main character, him. The
[12:56] Speaker 2: dream teller explained that these were all the dreams that
[12:59] Speaker 2: he had forgotten. Francis watched the dreams eagerly. Each time
[13:07] Speaker 2: he watched a dream, he remembered it completely, as if
[13:13] Speaker 2: he had never forgotten it. There were dreams about talking animals.
[13:21] Speaker 2: There were dreams about places he'd never seen, before there
[13:26] Speaker 2: were even flying dreams where Francis flew over places he'd
[13:31] Speaker 2: never visited. As Francis watched, his heart filled with joy.
[13:41] Speaker 2: He was so happy to know that he did have dreams,
[13:45] Speaker 2: just like everyone else. The dream teller smiled to see
[13:51] Speaker 2: him so happy. He watched and watched, but she didn't
[13:58] Speaker 2: seem to mind. Slowly, Francis became more and more tired.
[14:08] Speaker 2: Soon he was so sleepy that his eyelids started to close,
[14:16] Speaker 2: but he didn't want to stop watching his dreams. The
[14:20] Speaker 2: dream teller smiled. She understood. She pulled out a tiny
[14:28] Speaker 2: crystal ball from inside her pocket. The dream tello gave
[14:33] Speaker 2: it to Francis and explained that if he put it
[14:37] Speaker 2: onto his pillow, it would record all of his dreams
[14:41] Speaker 2: from now on. If he ever wanted to see them,
[14:46] Speaker 2: he could just look inside the crystal ball. Francis was
[14:52] Speaker 2: so happy that he gave her a big hug. The
[14:58] Speaker 2: dream teller tapped her crystal. The star popped out of
[15:04] Speaker 2: it and joined the other stars on the wall. Then
[15:10] Speaker 2: she took Francis outside the tent and back into his bedroom.
[15:16] Speaker 2: As soon as they stepped out of the tent, it
[15:19] Speaker 2: shrank back into the tiny suitcase with a pop. Francis
[15:26] Speaker 2: held the small crystal ball in his hand and thanked
[15:30] Speaker 2: the dream teller. She smiled and told him that she
[15:36] Speaker 2: was happy to do her job. Then she explained that
[15:41] Speaker 2: she had a full night ahead of her and had
[15:44] Speaker 2: to go. She opened the window, and just like magic,
[15:52] Speaker 2: she simply floated out into the night air. Francis watched
[15:59] Speaker 2: her go. If it weren't for the crystal ball in
[16:03] Speaker 2: his hand, he would have told himself that he was
[16:06] Speaker 2: simply imagining things. But instead he looked at his warm,
[16:14] Speaker 2: comfortable bed. He climbed inside and pulled the bedcovers around him.
[16:24] Speaker 2: He thought about how he would be able to tell
[16:27] Speaker 2: his friends all about his dreams. Now. At that thought,
[16:33] Speaker 2: his whole body seemed to glow with happiness. But he
[16:39] Speaker 2: was so tired. He yawned a great, big yawn. His
[16:50] Speaker 2: arms and legs were getting heavier and heavier. He felt
[16:58] Speaker 2: his head sink into the pillow beneath him. He took
[17:04] Speaker 2: a slow, soothing breath in he felt so warm and comfortable. Gently,
[17:17] Speaker 2: he closed his eyes. Sleep was calling his name, and
[17:25] Speaker 2: this time his dreams would be remembered. He sighed softly,
[17:33] Speaker 2: and before he could think another thought. He drifted off
[17:38] Speaker 2: into a deep, deep sleep where he would dream about sunsets, streams,
[17:48] Speaker 2: magical tents, and the night sky that fit inside a
[17:53] Speaker 2: blue and purple tent that lived in a tiny red
[17:58] Speaker 2: and yellow suitcase.
