[0:16] Speaker 2: Good Evening, I'm T. K. Hillman. In tonight's fantastical story,
[0:25] Speaker 2: we'll join a young dwarf on the morning of his birthday.
[0:31] Speaker 2: He's about to set off on a dreamy adventure exploring
[0:37] Speaker 2: a land of fairies, giants, and other magical creatures. This
[0:46] Speaker 2: is just the first part of his journey, which will
[0:50] Speaker 2: continue in a later episode. Before we venture into this world,
[1:00] Speaker 2: let's begin the peaceful ritual of relaxation. We'll let go
[1:07] Speaker 2: of any lingering thoughts as we prepare for a tranquil
[1:12] Speaker 2: night's rest. First, make yourself comfortable in bed. Feel the soft,
[1:23] Speaker 2: cool sheets and the light, welcoming weight of your blanket. Now,
[1:35] Speaker 2: at the end of the day, you can finally rest,
[1:42] Speaker 2: enjoying the sense of calm that night brings. And as
[1:48] Speaker 2: you relax, let's begin tonight's story. It's time to visit
[1:57] Speaker 2: the magical realm of lord Or. Here we find a
[2:05] Speaker 2: young dwarf named Huckle, sleeping in his bed in the
[2:24] Speaker 2: still silence of the early morning. Huckle, the dwarf, is
[2:31] Speaker 2: fast asleep as he dreams, his mouth twitches into a smile.
[2:43] Speaker 2: Today is a special day, as Huckle has come of
[2:49] Speaker 2: age and is now able to venture off on his own.
[2:58] Speaker 2: He has reached the time of his life when he
[3:02] Speaker 2: can finally go exploring in the picturesque orange forest. It's
[3:12] Speaker 2: the most mysterious forest in Lauder. Shafts of yellow sunlight
[3:22] Speaker 2: filter in through the window of Huckle's bedroom. His clan
[3:30] Speaker 2: is unlike the others. His family lives above ground rather
[3:38] Speaker 2: than below, and his window looks out onto the little
[3:44] Speaker 2: garden he loves so much. The garden is special, full
[3:54] Speaker 2: of brightly colored fruits and vegetables, as well as all
[4:01] Speaker 2: kinds of flowers. The petals are the most beautiful hues
[4:09] Speaker 2: of orange, red, pink, purple, and blue. Among the flowers
[4:20] Speaker 2: and crops are brilliant bolts of green vines climb up
[4:28] Speaker 2: the sides of the quaint house and all over the windows.
[4:36] Speaker 2: Everything has flourished this past harvest season, and Huckle's family
[4:44] Speaker 2: has been blessed abundantly. Dwarves are miners, engineers, and craftsmen,
[4:55] Speaker 2: and they are also expert sculptors. This home is a
[5:01] Speaker 2: testament to that ability, as it's been skillfully carved out
[5:07] Speaker 2: of solid rock. Because of their connection with the earth,
[5:15] Speaker 2: dwarfs have a talent for crafting precious metals. They also
[5:23] Speaker 2: create elaborate jewelry and all kinds of special items. Huckle's
[5:32] Speaker 2: family is no different. They possess true wealth in the
[5:38] Speaker 2: form of beautiful treasures in and around their home. These
[5:48] Speaker 2: sparkling jewels and metals adorn huckles walls. They reflect the sunlight,
[5:57] Speaker 2: casting tendrils of rain bowl colors all throughout his room.
[6:06] Speaker 2: As the room gradually gets brighter, Huckle begins to stir
[6:13] Speaker 2: from his sleep. From outside his bedroom door comes the
[6:21] Speaker 2: sound of his mother and father moving around. Then the
[6:29] Speaker 2: smells of food wafted into his broom. When the delicious
[6:37] Speaker 2: aromas reach Huckle's nostrils, he slowly wakes up, breathing in deeply.
[6:49] Speaker 2: He recognizes the mouth watering smell of fresh hot bread
[6:57] Speaker 2: with hints of cinnamon and butter. Huckle sits up in
[7:04] Speaker 2: his bed, yawning widely and stretching his arms high into
[7:13] Speaker 2: the air. Today is his birthday, and at twenty five
[7:21] Speaker 2: years old, he is finally coming of age. Dwarves have
[7:30] Speaker 2: an average lifespan of two hundred seventy five years, so
[7:37] Speaker 2: Huckle is still considered an adolescent, but reaching twenty five
[7:46] Speaker 2: brings with it the gift of earning more responsibility, trust,
[7:53] Speaker 2: and freedom. Huckle has waited his entire life for this
[8:01] Speaker 2: very day. It's the day he can finally go off
[8:07] Speaker 2: exploring on his own. At last, he can visit the
[8:16] Speaker 2: magical orange forest of Laudre, which he knows from every
[8:23] Speaker 2: childhood tale he's ever heard. Huckle has grown up listening
[8:31] Speaker 2: to all sorts of wild and fantastical tales, usually involving
[8:40] Speaker 2: magic and giant folklore, and they all seem to have
[8:46] Speaker 2: originated from this very forest. Although there's no record of
[8:56] Speaker 2: a dwarf for ever having seen a chime through the ages,
[9:03] Speaker 2: there have been so many tales about them. With each
[9:10] Speaker 2: passing year, Huckle has become more and more interested in
[9:17] Speaker 2: these legendary inhabitants of the Orange Forest. As he daydreams
[9:27] Speaker 2: about the adventures that await him, Huckle watches the rainbow
[9:33] Speaker 2: light ants across the walls of his room. He feels
[9:42] Speaker 2: the warmth of the rising sun on his ruddy cheeks,
[9:48] Speaker 2: and a wave of contentment washes over him. Glancing out
[9:58] Speaker 2: his window, he sees that it's a magnificent morning. The
[10:06] Speaker 2: sky is bright blue, streaked with a few fluffy white clouds,
[10:16] Speaker 2: and the land is an astonishing emerald green. It's as
[10:24] Speaker 2: if the world knew this special day was coming and
[10:31] Speaker 2: gifted Huckle with this bold, beautiful display. Huckle cannot wait
[10:41] Speaker 2: a moment longer, so he gets out of bed, Eager
[10:47] Speaker 2: to set off on his birthday, he adventures. Huckle gets
[10:55] Speaker 2: dressed quickly, donning simple cloth pants and a crisp white shirt.
[11:05] Speaker 2: He also grabs his invisibility cloak. It has numerous pockets
[11:12] Speaker 2: to hide all sorts of nick knacks. Special garments like
[11:20] Speaker 2: these are common among the Dwarfs, who are known for
[11:25] Speaker 2: creating items with magical properties. They're remarkably skilled craftsman. Once
[11:36] Speaker 2: he's dressed, with his invisibility cloak tucked inside his pocket,
[11:43] Speaker 2: Huckle is ready for breakfast. He skips out into the
[11:51] Speaker 2: hall towards the sound of his family and the delicious
[11:57] Speaker 2: smells emanating from the kitchen. The second Huckle steps into
[12:06] Speaker 2: the brightly lit kitchen, his mother and father come over
[12:11] Speaker 2: to embrace their birthday boy. His parents are full of
[12:19] Speaker 2: affection and excitement. They hug him together, their strong arms
[12:29] Speaker 2: wrapping around him in a tight embrace. In this moment,
[12:39] Speaker 2: they're the perfect picture of a happy, supportive family. Huckle
[12:50] Speaker 2: laughs and wriggles out of their warm hug. He can
[12:57] Speaker 2: smell the freshly baked bread and his all time favorite dish,
[13:05] Speaker 2: hot and delicious Rhubar pie, which is a staple of
[13:13] Speaker 2: Borbon culture. The recipe for this particular pie is special
[13:22] Speaker 2: as it's been passed down through the family for many
[13:27] Speaker 2: many generations. It has a secret ingredient that makes it
[13:36] Speaker 2: absolutely delicious, and it's an ingredient only the family knows
[13:45] Speaker 2: and will never divulge. Huckle's mother astra ushers him to
[13:55] Speaker 2: his seat at the wooden table. It's a modest piece
[14:00] Speaker 2: of furniture except for the inlay of gemstones at its center. Meanwhile,
[14:10] Speaker 2: his father Brohm resumes his tinkering at the desk in
[14:16] Speaker 2: the corner of the room. Huckle eagerly takes his seat,
[14:24] Speaker 2: his mouth watering at the smell of his birthday breakfast.
[14:33] Speaker 2: Astro scoops up a generous amount of figh, making it
[14:39] Speaker 2: a much larger portion than usual. Then she heaps it
[14:47] Speaker 2: on a plate alongside the bread. Smiling, she sets it
[14:57] Speaker 2: down in front of Huckle, who has yet to notice
[15:01] Speaker 2: the box on the table. It's his birthday present, but
[15:09] Speaker 2: he only has eyes for the pie. The pie hits
[15:16] Speaker 2: the spot. It's warm, flaky, buttery crust melts in Huckle's mouth.
[15:28] Speaker 2: He sighs with contentment, each blissful mouthful even better than
[15:37] Speaker 2: the wand before in no time, his plate is cleared,
[15:46] Speaker 2: with only a smattering of crumbs left to show that
[15:51] Speaker 2: a slice was ever there. Only when Huckle reclines in
[15:58] Speaker 2: his chair does he notice the gift box on the table.
[16:06] Speaker 2: Grinning from ear to ear, he begins to unwrap it,
[16:12] Speaker 2: discarding the ribbon and bow on the table before prying
[16:18] Speaker 2: open the lid. Inside, he finds a pure gold watch
[16:27] Speaker 2: with a compass Gemstones are embedded all around its ornate face,
[16:37] Speaker 2: and the time is precisely set. Huckle has wanted his
[16:45] Speaker 2: own watch his entire life, and this is no ordinary gift.
[16:56] Speaker 2: His parents must have forward much of their time and
[17:00] Speaker 2: energy into the creation of such a beautiful piece of work,
[17:08] Speaker 2: and he knows the meaning behind the gift. Now that
[17:14] Speaker 2: he can finally go off exploring on his own, his
[17:20] Speaker 2: parents have given him this compass watch to wear on
[17:25] Speaker 2: his adventures. It's a way to ensure that he will
[17:33] Speaker 2: never lose track of time or lose his way. Huckle
[17:41] Speaker 2: wishes he had a friend in the clan that he
[17:45] Speaker 2: could bring with him on his travels, but alas he
[17:52] Speaker 2: is the only one who has come of age ill.
[18:01] Speaker 2: He's bubbling over with happiness at the prospect of the
[18:07] Speaker 2: adventures ahead, and on his outings, maybe he will meet
[18:16] Speaker 2: another law or citizen close to his age. It certainly
[18:23] Speaker 2: does not hurt to hope. The watch fits perfectly on
[18:31] Speaker 2: Huckle's wrist. He hugs his mother as she washes the
[18:36] Speaker 2: dishes in the sink. Then he goes over to the
[18:41] Speaker 2: desk and embraces his father. Unable to contain his joy,
[18:51] Speaker 2: he tells his parents just how much the extravagant gift
[18:57] Speaker 2: means to him. Astra and Brahm share a knowing smile.
[19:06] Speaker 2: They're pleased to see their sun so happy. Huckle is
[19:15] Speaker 2: keen to head out, but before he leaves, his parents
[19:21] Speaker 2: hand him a knapsack. He already knows what's in it.
[19:30] Speaker 2: There's a warm loaf of bread and a chunk of cheese.
[19:37] Speaker 2: It's the perfect lunch for a day of exploration, and
[19:44] Speaker 2: with that Huckle bounds out the door and into the world.
[19:55] Speaker 2: This is his first trip to the Orange Forest, which
[20:00] Speaker 2: got its name because of its tall trees with orange leaves.
[20:08] Speaker 2: The forest is only a mile from the village and
[20:13] Speaker 2: is full of secrets and treasures, all of which Huckle
[20:19] Speaker 2: is eager to explore. As he passes through the village,
[20:28] Speaker 2: Huckle puts on the invisibility cloak. He doesn't want to
[20:35] Speaker 2: attract too much attention on his very first outing. Using
[20:44] Speaker 2: his new comfass watch, he checks that he's heading north
[20:50] Speaker 2: towards the woods. Once he's sure he's on the right track,
[20:58] Speaker 2: he slows down. Huckle takes his time, thoroughly enjoying his
[21:08] Speaker 2: new found freedom, as well as all the sights and
[21:14] Speaker 2: sounds of a small village. He passes by the forge,
[21:23] Speaker 2: where he sees two men working with bronze. They're probably
[21:31] Speaker 2: in the midst of creating a magical sword or two.
[21:39] Speaker 2: It's a bright sunny day and there are only a
[21:44] Speaker 2: few puffy clouds here and there in the blue sky.
[21:54] Speaker 2: They're like puffs of cotton candy up above, treats for
[22:00] Speaker 2: the angels. Huckle thinks a slight breeze lifts up his cloak,
[22:10] Speaker 2: and he wonders if any of the villagers are able
[22:14] Speaker 2: to catch a glimpse of him. It's a humorous notion,
[22:21] Speaker 2: and Huckle smiles at the thought. He can just imagine
[22:28] Speaker 2: his peekaboo excursion being the talk of the town. When
[22:35] Speaker 2: he passes the outskirts of the village, Huckle desides to
[22:40] Speaker 2: take off the cloak. There's not another soul around, and
[22:48] Speaker 2: on this warm afternoon, he's eager to feel the gentle wind.
[22:58] Speaker 2: As he shrugs off the cloak, he is immediately rewarded
[23:04] Speaker 2: by the sensation of cool, fresh air on his skin.
[23:13] Speaker 2: Strolling through the countryside and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere,
[23:22] Speaker 2: Huckle reflects that he's never felt so good. Freedom is
[23:32] Speaker 2: an amazing gift, and he feels so incredibly blessed to
[23:39] Speaker 2: have obtained it in this simple, yet fulfilling way. The
[23:47] Speaker 2: fath gradually becomes nerower. It's lined on both sides by
[23:54] Speaker 2: verdant hedges and fields of flowers has far as the
[24:01] Speaker 2: eye can see. His favorite flower is the yellow tulip.
[24:10] Speaker 2: There are so many of them dotting the landscape. Gently
[24:16] Speaker 2: swaying in the green grass, Huckle stops to pick a
[24:23] Speaker 2: few of the tulips, carefully gathering them up and securing
[24:29] Speaker 2: them with twine. They'll make the perfect present for his mother.
[24:38] Speaker 2: He knows just how much she also enjoys the flowers.
[24:46] Speaker 2: Placing the bouquet in his knapsack, he continues on ahead.
[24:55] Speaker 2: He spots the edge of the forest. Sunlight streams over
[25:03] Speaker 2: the trees, illuminating the orange leaves. A thrill of excitement
[25:12] Speaker 2: courses through Huckle. The moment he enters the forest, it
[25:19] Speaker 2: almost feels like a long awaited homecoming of sorts. He
[25:27] Speaker 2: can't help but hum a little tune as he skips
[25:33] Speaker 2: into the shelter of the trees. Huckle is filled with
[25:40] Speaker 2: a sense of awe at finally being here. At last,
[25:49] Speaker 2: he can see the beauty of this place for himself.
[25:57] Speaker 2: The woods are full of towers, growing, ancient trees whose
[26:03] Speaker 2: trunks are almost as wide as they are tall. Each
[26:12] Speaker 2: and everyone is so beautiful. Huckle thinks. Their gnarled roots
[26:20] Speaker 2: are like long, graceful fingers that grip the earth. Huckle
[26:28] Speaker 2: finds himself hopping over them just for the fun of it.
[26:36] Speaker 2: It feels good to move, stretching his legs and feeling
[26:42] Speaker 2: the slight burn of his muscles. Shafts of brilliant sunshine
[26:51] Speaker 2: pierce the canopy, bathing the entirety of the forest in
[26:57] Speaker 2: gold and light. Nearby, a river of deep indigo snakes
[27:07] Speaker 2: through the trees. Soon, Huckle becomes aware of all the
[27:16] Speaker 2: sounds in the forest. He can hear the chorus of
[27:21] Speaker 2: bird song coming from high above in the tree tops.
[27:30] Speaker 2: Then there's the scampering of creatures on the forest floor.
[27:38] Speaker 2: Listening carefully, he can also hear the faint rustle of
[27:44] Speaker 2: leaves in the wind. As he makes his way deeper
[27:51] Speaker 2: into the trees, the ground evens out and the terrain
[27:58] Speaker 2: feels softer under Huckle's feet. He moves toward the river,
[28:09] Speaker 2: hoping to find a good place to sit down and
[28:14] Speaker 2: eat his lunch. Huckle understands why he had to wait
[28:22] Speaker 2: to explore this magical place. It would be easy for
[28:30] Speaker 2: a young dwarf to lose his way in the woods.
[28:36] Speaker 2: But now that Huckle is old enough and he finally
[28:42] Speaker 2: has his freedom, he can't get enough of it. He's
[28:50] Speaker 2: filled with happiness and utters a silent word of thanks
[28:57] Speaker 2: to the trees and all the magical creatures who might
[29:04] Speaker 2: be around. When he reaches the river's edge, He immediately
[29:14] Speaker 2: finds the perfect tree. He can lean against it, nestled
[29:22] Speaker 2: between the large roots, and eat his lunch in comfort.
[29:31] Speaker 2: Huckle sits down and reaches into his knapsack, retrieving the
[29:38] Speaker 2: food that his mother prepared for him. After unfolding the
[29:46] Speaker 2: contents of his lap, he begins to eat. As he choos,
[29:54] Speaker 2: the warm bread and flavorable chunk of cheese melt in
[30:00] Speaker 2: his mouth, and he relaxes completely. The view before him
[30:11] Speaker 2: is one of gentle beauty. Huckle absorbs every sight, sound,
[30:21] Speaker 2: and smell. The narrow strip of river winds through the trees,
[30:31] Speaker 2: disappearing behind a bend. As Huckle watches the flowing water,
[30:42] Speaker 2: he stamped it to jump right in after lunch, perhaps
[30:50] Speaker 2: he'll go for a swim. Just as he's gazing at
[30:57] Speaker 2: the river, something else pops into his view. Floating right
[31:05] Speaker 2: in front of him. It's a fairy, mere inches from
[31:14] Speaker 2: his nose. The fairy hovers like a hummingbird. She eyes
[31:23] Speaker 2: him cautiously but with obvious interest, before flashing a sly
[31:32] Speaker 2: grin and darting off. Huckle stares in wide eyed astonishment.
[31:43] Speaker 2: He can hardly believe it. Seeing the fairy is so
[31:50] Speaker 2: rare and it's said to bring good fortune. Huckle already
[31:59] Speaker 2: feels that luck has been with him every step of
[32:04] Speaker 2: the way. Musing over his encounter with the fairy, Huckle
[32:13] Speaker 2: reclines against the tree trunk. The sun is peaking through
[32:20] Speaker 2: the canopy and he can feel its gentle rays. The
[32:29] Speaker 2: warm air makes him feel relaxed and sleepy, and he
[32:37] Speaker 2: finds himself growing drowsier and drowsier. Soon, his eyelids grow
[32:51] Speaker 2: heavy and he slowly falls under sleeps hypnotics well here
[33:04] Speaker 2: in the Orange forest on his very special birthdays, la
[35:00] Speaker 2: you
