[1:00] Speaker 1: of myself. I'll tell you all about how that happened

[1:57] Speaker 1: in And now I'm closing my eyes and you can
[2:06] Speaker 1: close yours. Now let's begin our story. Frannie the Pirate
[2:29] Speaker 1: was on her big pirate ship, sailing along in the
[2:34] Speaker 1: middle of the ocean. It was the afternoon, and the
[2:40] Speaker 1: sun was shining from behind some white clouds that drifted
[2:45] Speaker 1: lazily across the blue sky. There was a slight wind
[2:52] Speaker 1: blowing over the deck of the ship. The ship moved
[2:58] Speaker 1: slowly on the calm water, its big sail flapping a
[3:04] Speaker 1: little overhead. Frannie looked out at the ocean, which sparkled
[3:13] Speaker 1: bluey green in the afternoon sunlight. She took a big,
[3:20] Speaker 1: deep breath of the salty sea air. It was a
[3:26] Speaker 1: beautiful day. She heard the soft wind and the moving
[3:34] Speaker 1: of the sail. She heard the gentle slapping of the
[3:39] Speaker 1: water against the side of her pirate ship, and she
[3:45] Speaker 1: heard her own breathing, slow and calm. But then she
[3:54] Speaker 1: heard something else. It sounded like crying. But who could
[4:02] Speaker 1: be crying way out here at sea. Frannie looked all
[4:09] Speaker 1: around until finally she spotted something in the waves off
[4:16] Speaker 1: to one side. It looked like a girl floating there
[4:23] Speaker 1: in the middle of the ocean. But how could that be.
[4:30] Speaker 1: Frannie quickly turned her ship to sail closer to the girl.
[4:36] Speaker 1: As she got nearer, she saw that the girl had long,
[4:41] Speaker 1: flowing hair. Then as she got closer still, she saw
[4:49] Speaker 1: something else. The girl had a long, beautiful tail of
[4:57] Speaker 1: shimmering turquoise blue. It was a mermaid and she was
[5:05] Speaker 1: crying softly. Franni called out to ask her what was wrong,
[5:14] Speaker 1: and the lovely mermaid turned a tearful face towards her.
[5:22] Speaker 1: The mermaid was surprised to see Frannie on her big
[5:26] Speaker 1: pirate ship, but she was glad for a friendly face,
[5:32] Speaker 1: and she explained to Frannie that she'd lost the magic
[5:36] Speaker 1: shell containing her mermaid's song. After hearing the mermaid's story,
[5:46] Speaker 1: Frannie the Pirate promised to help her look for the
[5:50] Speaker 1: lost shell. But to help, she realized she needed to
[5:58] Speaker 1: know more about mermaid and their magic, and Frannie knew
[6:05] Speaker 1: just where to look when she was curious about something.
[6:11] Speaker 1: When Frannie had questions, she liked to go to her
[6:16] Speaker 1: library to look for answers, so she went down below
[6:23] Speaker 1: on her pirate ship to her ship's library, where she
[6:28] Speaker 1: had her personal collection of books. There, she looked through
[6:36] Speaker 1: all of her books until she found one that talked
[6:41] Speaker 1: about the most unusual creatures in the sea. In this book,
[6:49] Speaker 1: she found a section on mermaids. It had a drawing
[6:54] Speaker 1: of a mermaid that looked very much like the one
[6:58] Speaker 1: swimming beside her ship. It also had a map of
[7:04] Speaker 1: the secret bay where all the mermaids lived. As it
[7:11] Speaker 1: turned out, it was quite near to where they were now.
[7:18] Speaker 1: The map showed all the parts of the Mermaid Bay
[7:23] Speaker 1: and even its most hidden corners. It showed a hidden
[7:29] Speaker 1: cave that was underneath the bottom of the water in
[7:33] Speaker 1: the bay, deep under the rocks. According to the book,
[7:40] Speaker 1: this was the most magical part of the whole magic Place.
[7:48] Speaker 1: The cave was where the most ancient magic of the
[7:52] Speaker 1: mermaids was located, and the book said that magic objects
[8:00] Speaker 1: attracted other magic objects, so there were many treasures in
[8:06] Speaker 1: the cave that had been pulled there by its powerful magic.
[8:15] Speaker 1: When Frannie went back to tell the beautiful mermaid about
[8:19] Speaker 1: the hidden cave and the ancient magic within, they both
[8:25] Speaker 1: agreed that maybe that was where her shell had gone.
[8:33] Speaker 1: Without her magic shell, the mermaid could not sing her
[8:38] Speaker 1: Mermaid's song, and she was very eager to find it.
[8:45] Speaker 1: The two of them, Franni and the mermaid decided to
[8:50] Speaker 1: search for the hidden cave together, so Frannie set sail
[8:58] Speaker 1: for the nearby Mermaids Bay, with the mermaids swimming beside
[9:04] Speaker 1: her ship. Soon they arrived, and Franny looked around to
[9:14] Speaker 1: see a beautiful cove with mermaids everywhere. There were mermaids
[9:22] Speaker 1: of every color, with every kind of hair and every
[9:27] Speaker 1: colored tail, all playing and swimming and singing the most
[9:34] Speaker 1: beautiful mermaid songs. Frannie put down the anchor of her
[9:42] Speaker 1: ship and climbed off onto the sandy shore. She brought
[9:50] Speaker 1: the book with the map along with her. Then she
[9:56] Speaker 1: and the mermaid sat down at the edge of the
[9:59] Speaker 1: wor water and looked at it together. The map showed
[10:08] Speaker 1: that the entrance to the hidden cave was deep in
[10:12] Speaker 1: the rocks at the far end of the bay, but
[10:17] Speaker 1: it was very hidden. To find the entrance, they must
[10:23] Speaker 1: look for the place where the mermaid's hair flowed, the
[10:28] Speaker 1: book said. Franni and the mermaids stared at each other, confused.
[10:38] Speaker 1: What could that mean? The mermaid's hair flowed everywhere here
[10:44] Speaker 1: from the heads of all the beautiful mermaids. Frannie looked
[10:52] Speaker 1: all around and thought and wondered, but she still couldn't
[10:59] Speaker 1: understand and the clue. Finally, she decided that when you
[11:07] Speaker 1: can't solve a problem, it's time to try something different
[11:12] Speaker 1: from whatever you've been doing. So she suggested to the
[11:19] Speaker 1: mermaid that instead of sitting there wondering, they should go
[11:25] Speaker 1: and look around to the rocks under the far end
[11:28] Speaker 1: of the bay. The only problem was that she Frannie
[11:37] Speaker 1: wouldn't be able to swim deep under the water to
[11:41] Speaker 1: see the rocks, so the mermaid would have to search
[11:45] Speaker 1: them alone. At that, the mermaid smiled and told Franni
[11:54] Speaker 1: not to worry. She explained that she still had had
[12:00] Speaker 1: some of her magic and that if Frannie held her hand,
[12:06] Speaker 1: she would be able to breathe underwater. Frannie grasped the
[12:14] Speaker 1: mermaid's soft hand and together they swam into the aqua water.
[12:25] Speaker 1: They swam deep beneath the waves until they reached the
[12:30] Speaker 1: rocks at the far end. There were many, many rocks
[12:38] Speaker 1: and no sign of the entrance to the hidden cave. Still,
[12:45] Speaker 1: they swam along through the cool and comfortable water. Holding
[12:51] Speaker 1: hands Frannie and the mermaid. They looked everywhere, and then
[13:03] Speaker 1: Frannie noticed something. In one corner of the rocks. There
[13:09] Speaker 1: was seaweed growing. It was long, thin and dark, and
[13:17] Speaker 1: it flowed gently in the moving water. It looked beautiful,
[13:26] Speaker 1: and Frannie realized it looked just like a mermaid's hair
[13:33] Speaker 1: drifting in the water. This must be what the CLU meant.
[13:43] Speaker 1: This was the place where the mermaid's hair flowed that
[13:48] Speaker 1: the map had described. Together, Frannie and the mermaid parted
[13:57] Speaker 1: the flowing seaweed, which which felt soft and smooth to
[14:02] Speaker 1: the touch, and sure enough, behind the seaweed they found
[14:11] Speaker 1: a small opening. They swam through it and found themselves
[14:20] Speaker 1: in a large cave filled with a magical golden light.
[14:28] Speaker 1: Everywhere they looked there was treasure. Magical items were all around,
[14:36] Speaker 1: jumbled in big piles just where they had fallen. The
[14:44] Speaker 1: mermaid caught her breath. These were all the magical items
[14:50] Speaker 1: that the mermaids had lost over the years. She told
[14:55] Speaker 1: Franny all the mermaids would be so happy to have
[15:01] Speaker 1: them back. Yet still they didn't see the mermaid's missing shell,
[15:11] Speaker 1: but Frannie wasn't about to give up. She decided they
[15:19] Speaker 1: must keep looking. So they searched the cave from top
[15:26] Speaker 1: to bottom and side to side, and at last they
[15:36] Speaker 1: found the magic shell where it had tumbled into the
[15:41] Speaker 1: farthest corner of the cave. Well. The mermaid was very
[15:50] Speaker 1: relieved and very grateful to have her magic shell back.
[15:58] Speaker 1: Happy tears flowed from her eyes and mixed with the
[16:04] Speaker 1: salty water around them. Still clasping hands, Frannie and the
[16:14] Speaker 1: mermaid then swam back out of the cave, the mermaid
[16:19] Speaker 1: clutching her shell in her other hand. They swam back
[16:27] Speaker 1: up to the surface, and the mermaid held up her
[16:32] Speaker 1: shell to show all the other residents of the bay.
[16:40] Speaker 1: All of the mermaids gathered around them, and Frannie told
[16:45] Speaker 1: them the happy news that all their lost items had
[16:50] Speaker 1: been found inside the magic cave. The mermaids were over
[17:00] Speaker 1: joyed to have their magical objects back. They swam at
[17:06] Speaker 1: once to bring them out so they could use them again.
[17:14] Speaker 1: When all the treasures were recovered, the mermaids said it
[17:19] Speaker 1: was time to celebrate, so they prepared a wonderful party
[17:28] Speaker 1: full of mermaid magic. They ate and they danced, and
[17:37] Speaker 1: they played magic games that only mermaids know, and now
[17:44] Speaker 1: Franny too. After many hours, the celebration was over and
[17:54] Speaker 1: everyone was all tired out. The day was slowly turning
[18:01] Speaker 1: into night and the sun was hanging very low in
[18:06] Speaker 1: the sky. It was time for Frannie to say goodbye
[18:14] Speaker 1: to her new friends. The mermaids, though she knew she
[18:20] Speaker 1: would be back again to visit them another day, so
[18:28] Speaker 1: she hugged all the mermaids and then climbed aboard her
[18:33] Speaker 1: pirate ship. As Frannie sailed off out of the bay,
[18:42] Speaker 1: her friend the Mermaid, held up her magic shell and
[18:47] Speaker 1: began to sing her Mermaid's song. It was the most
[18:55] Speaker 1: beautiful sound that Frannie had ever heard. The enchanted song
[19:04] Speaker 1: spoke of their friendship and the adventure they had shared.
[19:11] Speaker 1: It spoke of the joy of swimming beneath the water,
[19:17] Speaker 1: and of the loveliness of the sea. The sun was
[19:25] Speaker 1: just beginning to set, now sinking down over the horizon,
[19:32] Speaker 1: and the sky around it turned pink, purple and gold,
[19:42] Speaker 1: and Franny the Pirate sailed away into the sunset, listening
[19:51] Speaker 1: to the soft, lovely song of the Mermaid with her magical.
[19:58] Speaker 2: Shell us Lash
